The Importance Of Emotional Intelligence In Education
From an early age we are expected to attend school for five days a week. We are expected to learn and
be trained to achieve higher and score highly on standardized tests and on SAT scores. However,
schools fail to educate students about the world and even ourselves. Each day we are taught the
importance of going to school to get a good job. The education system has also failed to teach students
how to deal with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Emotional intelligence is the
ability to be aware of and control one s emotions and handle interpersonal relationships. High schools
can develop social and emotional programs for students to improve their behaviors, communications,
and relationships. Emotional intelligence is important in society for everyday decisions and getting
along with others. In modern day, it s important that high school students are academically prepared to
attend college for their future careers. When students are not prepared the effects and risks are high.
Some students may experience high levels of unemployment, lower earnings, and increased health
problems. These factors can be linked to why some student withdraw from school and gain mental
problems (Parker 2004). Some questions that may surface when in the process of withdrawing from
school are whether or not students were prepared. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of
the Child states that every child has the right to an education that develops their mental and

What Is The Purpose Of Ward Churchill s Crimes Against...
In Crimes Against Humanity (1993) by Ward Churchill the author s purpose is to persuade society to
make others see that the reasons for the sport s team s names are offensive, stereotypical, and
nonsense. Crimes Against Humanity is about how Churchill perceives certain things on certain
arguments. Crimes Against Humanity touches on the subject about native names, symbols, and images
and how they are used incorrectly. In the phrase, Let s get just a little bit real here. The notation of fun
embodied in rituals like the Tomahawk Chop must be understood for what it is, Churchill reveals that
the notation of fun is nonsense because sports teams are actually offending the Native Americans in a
way that discriminates them. Moreover, in the line,

The Global Branding of Stella Artois Essay
The Global Branding of Stella Artois*
Synopsis
Interbrew had developed into the world s fourth largest brewer by acquiring and managing a large
portfolio of national and regional beer brands in markets around the world. More recently, senior
management had decided to develop one of their premium beers, Stella Artois, as a global brand. This
case examines the early stages of Interbrew s global branding strategy and tactics, enabling students to
consider these concepts in the context of a fragmented but consolidating industry.
Discussion Questions

Reflective Statement:
One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich was written by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Solzhenitsyn was born
on December 11th, 1918 in Kislovodsk, Russia. He was 89 when he died on August 3rd 2008.
Solzhenitsyn based the book on the World War 2 period, particularly the famous labour camps for
prisoners in Germany and East Prussia known as gulags . Life in the gulags were tough due to the
gulags being open aired and given the sub zero temperatures, survival was difficult. Solzhenitsyn, in
this book, describes the difficulty of life in the gulag, full of brutality, hard manual labour, sub zero
temperatures, the disgusting food rationed to the prisoners and survival. Only people who are able to
cope with the conditions and manage the system can hope to survive. I chose the novel One day in the
life of Ivan Denisovich as I found the book, especially the gulags, interesting. My topic is How is the

communism. The author of the novel, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, was sentenced to the gulags for 10
years and then it was extended for another 4 to 5 years. This is where he got his idea to write the book.

UHG Performance Management
Mission, Goals, and Performance Management Today, organizations need to have a clear
understanding of where their organization is and where it needs to be in the future to secure longevity
and financial success (Moore, Ellsworth, Kaufman, 2011). Organizations need to have a performance
management system in place to stay competitive. Therefore, having a well developed performance
management process in place allows the employer and employee to communicate goals, share
information, and establish career growth. Performance management needs to contribute to the success
of the organization while providing a positive impact on the employees. Therefore, the mission, goals
and performance management should coincide with one another. UnitedHealth Group (UHG) was
founded in 1977, and based their organization on health maintenance organizations (HMOs). UHG is
considered the most diversified health care organization in the United States. They have the largest
network s of physicians, and health facilities and caregivers in the United States. They operate in all
50 states and more than 125 other countries around the world (UHG, 2015a). Their operating revenue
is over $130 billion in 2014 and Fortune magazine ranked them No. 14 of the 500 largest U.S.
corporations (UHG, 2015a). UnitedHealth Group s mission is to help people live healthier lives and to
help make the health system work better for everyone (UHG, 2015b). They enhance the performance

The Role of Mexican-American Border Relations in the...
The Role of Mexican American Border Relations in the Political Process
Throughout the 1990 s up until the present, Mexican American political relations have been very
inconsistent in their endeavors to define what the relationship should and will be between the two
different countries. The massive influx of Mexican immigrants has commanded attention from the
governments of both countries. This has resulted in attempts to make a working partnership
acknowledging the fact that the peoples of Mexican decent have grown into the largest minority group
in the United States and there are many issues to be hammered out by both countries in establishing

The 1990 s: A Political of war on Mexicans in California
The early 1990 s suffered poor economic situations in the United States. The blame had to be put
somewhere so Governor Pete Wilson of California decided to vocally address this issue with his
proposed Proposition 187 in 1994. At this time California was facing economic recession and
adamantly felt that the massive immigration of illegal immigrants from Mexico was the primary
reason for residents economic struggles. Proposition 187, promoted as the Save Our State initiative,
called for a dismissal of the availability of public service such as education and health care to illegal
immigrants. It also aided in their deportation, as people such as nurses and teachers would be required
to report suspected illegal immigrants to authorities. This initiative was able to pass even though
public rhetoric of the opposition repeatedly called the supporters of Proposition 187 racists.
The economic concerns of the California residents were that the illegal immigrants were taking too
many of the state s resources in a time where resources weren t plentiful. One economic anxiety of the
residents during this time focused on the destruction of their communities from the crimes committed
by illegal immigrants. Many residents, especially those in the San Diego area, attribute vandalization
and robbery in their communities to illegal

The New Destination Of Las Vegas
Since you hotel s your playground, where you stay can make a big difference to your experience of
Las Vegas. Here s how to find the hotel of your dreams.
For the first time in years, the number of guest rooms in Las Vegas will grow only slightly in 2001 by
3,000, pushing the total to about 127,000. This modest 2.5 per cent increase from two years ago is in
stark contrast to the extraordinary growth rate of the late 1990s, when the Strip provided fertile ground
for a bumper crop of ever more elaborate hotel casinos, culminating in the arrival of the Aladdin in
summer 2000.
This latest wave of construction, and the numerous expansions and renovations of existing resorts,
have each been characterised by two key features: hotel casinos ... Show more content on

Where to stay
If you want to stay on the Strip, remember it s a 32 mile (5.6 kilometre) hike from one end to the
other. You could spend a lot of time tramping from casino to casino, so consider whether you want to
be based at the north, centre or south. The more recent mega resorts are the most attractive places to
stay, but there are also older properties that retain a charm that hints of old Vegas. The cluster of
Downtown casino hotels do a good job with accommodation, although their dining options are more
limited than those on the Strip, and non gambling entertainment is practically non existent.
Of course, you don t have to stay in a casino. Off the Strip, in the area surrounding the Convention
Center, rooms are aimed at the business traveller and are generally unencumbered by noisy casinos,
while out of town, the Regent in Summerlin and the Hyatt at Lake Las Vegas cater for visitors who
want to combine casino luxury with easy access to the golf course. Casino rooms offer such good
value that the budget accommodation sector is relatively small. In addition to the hostel on page 62,
there are any number of fading 1950s motels cluttering up the more unfashionable stretches of Las
Vegas Boulevard; their modern counterparts, the chain cheapies, can be found all over town.

History Inquiry Project Red River Expedition (Wolseley Expedition)
Questions:
How will the Canadian government take responsibility for taking over the metis land?
How did The Red River Expedition affect Canada?
Why was the Canadian government interested in capturing Louis Riel?
Canadian government considered Louis Riel as an outlaw, he mounted rebellion in Red River Colony
and occupied Fort Garry illegally. Also, Canadian government intended to avenge to Louis Riel for the
crime that he executed Thomas Scott, an Irish Protestant politician.[2][9] At last, Canadian
government captured and executed Louis Riel for high treason since his role of commander of 1885

Louis Riel intended to join The Confederation with terms. That was one of the reason that Louis Riel
and Métis mounted a rebellion and declared a provisional government. Most Métis population feared
that Canadian government would deprive their culture and land rights. During the negotiations of

How Did John Locke Influence The Declaration Of Independence
John Locke is not well known as a founder of the Declaration of Independence, but he is a main figure
behind the philosophy of it. At first the Declaration and Locke seem to have no connection, but once
one takes the time to look deeper they can see that the Declaration echoes Locke. Locke s philosophy
is condensed into a few hundred words under Thomas Jefferson s pen.
A famous English philosopher known as John Locke was one of the most influential philosophers of
the Enlightenment. His philosophy was based on the idea that certain rights are endowed upon people
by nature and not dependent on the government; this philosophy is known as Natural Law. These
rights are known as Natural Rights, and according to Locke they consist of life, liberty,

How Laura Kipnis Opposites Depicted In The Break-Up
The Break Up is categorized as a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, as Brooke Meyer, and
Vince Vaughn, as Gary Growboski. The film portrays what happens when individuals in a relationship
gets comfortable. Romantic comedies are typically funny with a happily ever after, but this movie was
more dramatic than funny. It gives us a glimpse of the actions taken at times to get the others attention.
The Break Up shows the heartache of what happens when people don t communicate, because
sometimes it is too late once the heart is so broken.
An escalation and Brooke asking, Why can t you do this one thing for me (The Break Up), leads to the
break up of the couple. In an essay from an excerpt in her book, Against Love: A Polemic, Laura

When people get comfortable in their relationship they tend to take advantage of the other. The
characters, Brooke and Gary, show a couple that fell into the slump of not truly talking and listening,
they quit showing interest in the others pursuits, and lost appreciation for each other. At the end of the
movie, Gary said, I m just saying we shouldn t wait so long the next time before we catch up, and
Brooke replied with, We have a lot more to talk about (The Break Up). Don t wait until the end to talk
to your significant other. Neither person realized how they got to this point in their relationship.
Brooke said, I just don t know how we got here. Our entire relationship, I have above and beyond for
you, for us. .........And I just don t feel like you appreciate any of it. I don t feel you appreciate me. All
I want is to know, is for you to show me you care (The Break Up). This suggests to viewers do not get
lazy on your relationship, remember to show one another appreciation for each other s time, and value
the fact they chose to be with you. Also, doing the crazy antics to get the other s attention is time
consuming and in the end often times is do not work. Brooke thought by breaking up with Gary he
would come to her apologizing and do the things she thinks he needs to do right, but it backfired on
her. Both characters tried to make each other jealous, which suggests to viewers it won t work and

Interpreting Medical Terminology
American Psychological Association (APA) states word choice: Make certain that every word means
exactly what you intend it mean (2010). Clarity requires written documents to have organization that
allows readers to place the information in context (Grand Canyon University (GCU), 2013). When
writing, the writer must use the correct word choice for what they are meaning to say. The reader must
be able to interpret the meaning. An example of not being able to interpret the meaning would be
using the medical terminology such as cholecystectomy when speaking with a patient. The patient has
no clue what you are talking about; but if you say gallbladder out, they would be able to interpret the
meaning. Precision is essential in scientific writing;

Themes And Characters In The Book Amaroq The Wolf
A. The writer s style is his personal choice dependent on the setting, plot and characters means these
three aspects of the story will be taken by the author and decided how it will best tell his story. The
writer must use his skill with words to develop his style for the story, since the reader is completely at
the mercy of the writer waiting for his words to write so he can feel, hear, see, smell and contemplate
what is going to happen next. The writer must tell the reader what the world looks like and how it
changes, who is in it and where the reader is going. One writer will deal with a genre completely
different from another, developing their own style and vision. Often a writer s style can become so
familiar readers they can recognize the author just from reading a passage.
B. Connotations that greatly extend their dictionary meaning that was noticeable included: sick,
something thought of as extremely cool or nice, feel me is used to expressed an understanding of
dissention. Lastly there was the word stiff indicating someone who is not up to date or full of rules. C.
The use of similes and metaphors were greatly used in the first part of the book called Amaroq the
Wolf.
Simile: then he bayed a wild note that sounded like the wind on a frozen sea Metaphor: Jello went
back to the puppies and the three sped away like dark birds.
Hyperbole: The great wolf s eyes softened at the sight of the little wolves then quickly hardened in to

Mechanical Engineering is a field that requires constant updating. With the advent of new technology,
growing fields, and an unpredictable global market, it takes a lot of divisive planning in order to

Choosing the right career takes a lot of careful timing, and it takes a lot of careful and precise plans in

Effect Of Groupthink On Investing
Kenneth Kiebles
Finance 393
Professor Hocter
21 November 2016
Effect of Groupthink on Investing Groupthink is something that influences most things that people do
on a daily basis. People use groupthink every single day to make decisions, to confirm their decisions,
or even to compare to the decisions that they have already come to. Although groupthink has its
distinct advantages in certain situations, there are without a doubt situations in which groupthink can
be seen as a hindrance. How companies, and even individuals, invest their money is something that is
undoubtedly being affected by groupthink every single day. Groupthink can give investors an extreme
disadvantage and it can be shown by things throughout history. So, this paper is going to dive into the
effects that groupthink has on investors and therefore the effects that it can even have on the economy.
To understand the effect that groupthink has on investors, and therefore the economy, we must first
comprehend what groupthink encompasses. Groupthink was a term devised in 1972 by psychologist
Irving Janis. According to Janis, groupthink ensues when a group makes flawed choices because
group pressures lead to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality testing, and oral judgement.
Essentially what this means is that our decision making can be severely hampered by what the
majority of the members of the group may think is the correct way to go about whatever situation may
be at hand. People affected

Karjon was keen to expand his knowledge and discuss with experts in the field. But first he had to find
an expert in this field or at least a similar field. If one did exist. He was reticent to blindly accept the
premise by Murfon that there was no expert in this area. There had to be someone. The Hive could not
be so ignorant about the sky around them to not bother with picking someone to study it.

Murfon was almost pleading but noticed a wry smile on Karjon s face. That was enough to convince
Murfon that Karjon was going to do something. His curiosity had an overwhelming power over his
decision making.
Back at the Hive, Karjon and Murfon immediately sought out Tamblin. He was in his usual area, at the

Western and Chinese medicine each has its own strengths in clinical and preventive medicine.
However, Chinese medicine has more advantages in rehabilitation and health care. Not all physicians

The meridian channel is used to pin point areas of illness in the body. Some of the ingredients include
red ginseng, fungus, and Chinese red dates. The herbs are dried well before usage to preserve
nutrients, tone down the smell and for storage purposes in antique shelves. These herbs are classified
into three categories. First, the herbs are determined hot or cold. Cold herbs such as licorice treat
symptoms such as high fever, sore throat and constipation. Warm herbs such as red ginseng treat cold
symptoms such as cold hands and feet. Second, the medicines have distinct flavors of sweet, sour,

One example comes from my personal experience. Two years ago, my mother was concerned about

Amending the Second Amendment
On December 12, 2013, a heavily armed man walked into a small elementary school in Connecticut
and opened fire, ending the lives of 26 children and teachers, not only shattering the quiet of the small
town but leaving our nation lurching at the number of young lives lost. The horror of this event
renewed people s passion on both sides of the fiercely debated issue of gun control and brought the
issue to the forefront of American politics once again. While no new gun control laws have been
passed since this tragedy, the debate over how to interpret the 2nd amendment continues.
Gun control laws are the government s way of regulating the manufacture, sale, transportation,
possession, and use of firearms. In our world today, we face the vast controversy of gun control and
who should be able to possess a destructive firearm, and under what conditions. These laws differ
significantly around the world, and in fact the laws in the United States vary by state. Supporters of
strict gun laws argue the dangers of allowing citizens broad rights to possess firearms. Opponents
claim that they wish to have a source of defense in their home, and also that certain regulations may
violate their individual rights. Gun control laws are protected by the second amendment in the Bill of
Rights, the right to bear arms. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state,
the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The bill guarantees Americans the

The Perfection Of Anorexia Nervosa
The life of a young girl taken by the pressures to be perfect happens all too often in today s society. It
is not uncommon for a teen girl to diet, purge, or even stop eating all together to achieve the standards
of beauty that the world has forced upon her. Most of the time these pressures cannot be escaped
because they are pushed onto a girl from the time she is born and sometimes she does not even realize
the brainwashing. There is too much pressure put on girls to have a perfect body because it is
impossible to be perfect, girls are developing eating disorders, and being imperfect is resulting in
bullying and peer pressure. Everyone has his or her own idea of perfection and to form a body to
match all of these ideas would be impossible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As many as one in every six females who have anorexia may die from it, this is the highest mortality
rate of any psychiatric disorder (Kalodner). There are two types of anorexia known as restricting and
binge eating/purging, restricting anorexia is characterized by a girl avoiding food and over exercising,
during the binge eating and purging cycle a girl will over eat then cause themselves to vomit or use the
bathroom more by sticking objects in their throat to vomit or misusing laxatives, diuretics, or enemas.
Most people see the binge eating and purging cycle as bulimia but that is false, if a person is of low
weight has not had a menstrual cycle in three months, she meets the criteria for anorexia (Kalodner).
Bulimia Nervosa better known as bulimia can be identified by recurrent episodes of binge eating,
inappropriate ways to prevent weight gain, binge eating and weight gain prevention occur regularly,
self evaluation of body size and shape, and it does not occur exclusively. Bulimia is usually caused by
depression and the fear of being fat known as procrescophobia, the two types of bulimia are purging
and non purging. Purging consists of binge eating then using medications or other objects to cause
vomit or diarrhea, non purging includes fasting for long periods of time and avoiding food. Serious
physical consequences come from these eating disorders, parts of the body that may be affected are
skin, salivary glands, teeth, hair, muscle, heart, liver, kidneys, bones, stomach and uterus. (Frissell and
Harney) Emotional consequences occur like depression, anxiety, irritability, concentration and
memory, physical consequences can be weight gain, swelling, high blood pressure,

Why Did The Communist Party Win The 1935 Election Essay
Why Did the Communist Party Win the 1935 Election Simulation? In a time where the economy is
suffering and people are struggling, a strong government is needed to help everyone achieve success.
As a result, the Communist party won the 1935 election simulation because their leader addressed the
concerns of nearly every voting bloc, they had eye catching posters with a memorable slogan, and
they targeted the Conservatives, one of the main political parties. First and foremost, Tim Buck, the
leader of the Communist party, addressed the concerns of nearly every voting bloc at the election. One
of the concerns of recent immigrants was the perception that they will work for less and are taking
away jobs from the other Canadians. Thus, Tim addressed the concern and assured a positive change,
as he said, We know that many think you will work for less, but you will earn just as much as other
Canadians. In addition, one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

all contained the slogan, Equal for All. As the only party with posters in colour, they used bright red
and yellow to catch the attention of the voters. Each poster contained the same slogan which was easy
to remember and focuses on something most voting blocs wanted equality. When asked about how
much the Communists posters affected people s votes, 17 people responded and 65% that the posters
greatly affected their decision to vote for the Communists. From one of the voters point of view, The
posters were vibrant compared to others which were black and white (B. Costas, Interview, April 19,
2018). Although Tala and Fiona said the posters had no effect on who they were going to vote for,
people may have subconsciously remembered the Communists as the ones with the bright red image
that caught their eye. This would have likely influenced their vote, even if they were not aware of it.
Finally, the leader attacked the

Ernest Hemingway s Experiences
Hemingway used his written work as a depiction of his own life experiences in a number of ways.
Like many other author s he uses his stories and his poems to show his life. In stories such as Soldier s
Home , A Farewell to Arms, and In Another Country he portrays the characters as a reflection of
himself. In each of these examples Hemingway explains multiple different aspects of his own life
including, his life prior, during, after the war, and his love of a woman named Agnes. Although these
stories aren t exact descriptions of his life, they can be interpreted as depictions of his experiences. In
the story titled, In Another Country , Hemingway speaks with an Italian major at a hospital. He uses
the character named Nick to portray his own self. One example of this is My knee did not bend and
the leg dropped straight from the knee to the ankle without a calf, and the machine was to bend the
knee and make it move as riding a tricycle. But it did not bend yet, and instead the machine lurched
when it came to the bending part. (Hemingway, Ernest. In Another Country. ) Hemingway uses this to
depict his own real life leg injury that he went through when fighting in war. Another example in this
story is when Hemingway has his character talk to the Italian Major. He conveys his own message
through him speaking with the man. Why must not a man marry? He cannot marry. He cannot marry,
he said angrily. If he is to lose everything, he should not place himself in a

Comparing Rip Van Winkle And Geoffrey Crayon
Although Irving would recognized as an author, both in America and aboard, his writing did not begin
to support him until his mid thirties Many literary sources consider Irving to be America s first
internationally recognized author (519 520). Irving started writing at the age of nineteen, however, his
first works were published under different pseudonyms. ( Washington Irving 141). Using the
pseudonym Jonathan Oldstyle , he contributed satirical letters ...to a newspaper owned by his brother
Peter (141). The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent was published under the pseudonym Geoffrey
Crayon (May 520). The story, Rip Van Winkle , was credited as a posthumous writing of Diedrich
Knickerbocker (Irving 1). Irving decided to remain a bachelor (Neider xii), when his fiancée, Matilda

After her death, Irving waver[ed] between a legal, mercantile, and editorial career , before deciding, at
the age of thirty five, to earn his living by writing (142). Irving lived in Europe for an unbroken

several years serving as a diplomatic attaché to the American legation , in Spain ( Washington Irving

Assignment One. “To View Language As Though It Were An
Assignment One to view language as though it were an object, devoid of the social context of its
creation and use, is to dislocate it from the field of human interaction within which language derives
the full quality of its meanings... (Grugeon and Gardner 2000: 105) Language is a mixed bag of
contradictions which all of society use to address the specific needs of their group. A teacher s role is
extreme in the process of understanding language. It is not enough to merely consider the cultural
context in which the speaker emerges, teachers must understand the implications arising from such
circumstances, and how they present in the classroom. Socio cultural factors such as religion, sex and
social class play a significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, to grasp the full meaning of language, Gee conveys the need to view language as a three
dimensional object, requiring human interaction and social context as the further dimensions. Without
human interaction and social context, language is merely an object void of any meaning. It is hard to
find any characteristics of society that plays a role as fundamental as language does (Hudson, 1996, p.
4). Language is therefore seen as more than a tool to communicate. Language is an identity used
distinctly by different groups to recognise people with parallel values and beliefs who share similar
qualities. Vygotsky explains cognitive development as a socially mediated activity which occurs
during social interaction (O Donnell et al. 2016. p. 101). By providing us with this description,
Vygotsky is reinforcing the fundamental role our social settings play in contributing to student s
overall development. Gee explains an important factor of why he believes some student s do not
succeed in the classroom. A Discourse, as illustrated by Gee is a network of people that shares a
similar way of using language, of valuing, acting and thinking, these traits make the group easily
identifiable (Green, 2006. p.3). While there are many benefits of belonging to a group, Children can
be identified as failures if the Discourse is unfamiliar to them. All cultures are diverse in one aspect or
another. Many have different beliefs, ideologies and rules which help us identify different

Pompei Essay
Are the remains in Pompeii and indication of how the Ancient Romans lived? The city of Pompeii has
been frozen in time since the early afternoon of 24th August 79CE. A gigantic time capsule,
illustrating the everyday life of ancient Romans, has captured the last moments of at least two
thousand people. Pompeii had remained mostly untouched up until 1594 when building an aqueduct,
upon uncovering the ashes that worked as a preservative, they found the ruins of a once great town.
Casts of people showed their dying moments, gold and precious household items littered the streets.
(Staff, 2010) From the ruins of the city, it is reasonable to assume that the rest of Roman society was
much the same as Pompeii was at the time of the eruption. (Whipps, 2007) The 24th August began just
as every other day for the citizens of Pompeii. However the warning of an earthquake sixteen years
earlier did not warn them of the incoming danger. Mount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pompeii s amphitheatre was built shortly after 80 BCE; this causes it to become the oldest known
example of its kind in the Roman world. Any event hosted in the amphitheatre was strongly publicised
and well attended. These attendee s were not just the citizens of Pompeii, but many of the spectators
were from the surrounding villages. (Western Australian Museum, n/d) It is recorded at in 59 CE, a
riot broke out between Pompeian fans and the citizens of the nearby town of Nuceria, and as a result,
the amphitheatre was closed for a decade. A gentler form of entertainment, with less gore, was that of
theatrical performances. Pompeii s theatre was old, built originally in the second century BCE in the
traditional Greek Style, this was later enlarged and modernised to look similar to the Roman theatre.
The drama of ancient Greece proved popular with the Romans, shown in wall paintings depicting the

Great Gatsby Song Analysis Essay
Song #1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9fLbfzCqWw
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/yellowcard/oceanavenue.html The song Yellowcard by Ocean Avenue
is a song that talks about a past relationship. The singer wishes to go back in time to the time that they
were together so that his life could improve. This is shown by the lyrics If I could find you now things
would get better and I know somewhere, somehow we ll be together . This song relates well to The
Great Gatsby as the singer s aspirations to enjoy life by reliving the past or similar to Gatsby s
aspiration to relive his past with Daisy. Gatsby believes that Daisy is everything that he will ever need
and that with her he will attain eternal happiness. The green light represents the dream of obtaining
Daisy. Gatsby reaches towards this light at the end of chapter one as if he is trying to reach towards
the past. Both Gatsby and the singer of Yellowcard both want to achieve happiness by relieving the
past with their former lovers. Song #2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJs_L7yq5qE

Daisy. The song also has the lyrics you take all of me, this represents the stalker quality of Gatsby, and
shows that she is his life. Both the song Hanging by a Moment and Gatsby condone the idea of life

The Negative And Positive Connotation On Speech Communities
There is negative and positive connotation on speech communities based on what social media
portrays for each group. This issue within society is that we see language as a system and right or
wrong. An example is Slang, African American Vernacular language and also. When hearing slang
people tend to assume that the person or group using it comes from a lower class. One misconception
is that an individual that is using AAE is a product of a lower income community. Proper and non
proper speech is correlated to economic and social status of speaker. An example for African
American Vernacular language was presented through the video Who else done messed up? In this
video the substitute was using African American Vernacular English when pronouncing the student s
names there was voice stops devoiced at the end of the names, consonant cluster deduction and
vocalization in names but when giving instruction none of these features appeared. The negative
connotation in this video is the substitute was speaking in commonly used English that would be
considered AAVE but because it is believed that only African Americans use AAVE the video shows
how there was only one person that understood the substitute enunciation and is was a young African
American male. There is a misconception that each country has one language but in reality, this is a
variety of dialects within each one. Another fallacy/ mistaken belief is that an individual that is using
AAE is non educated, that is not

The Importance Of Repealing The Second Amendment
Boom! That s the sound of someone dying from a firearm. In fact, a death from a gun occurs every 15
minutes. The United States has a critical gun issue with over 30,000 firearm related deaths a year, the
highest out of every First World country, and it needs a solution. The solution is repealing the second
amendment. The second amendment should be repealed because it is unneeded in modern times,
owning a gun should be a privilege not a right, and repealing the amendment would decrease gun
related deaths.
The second amendment was created during the American Revolution and is not needed in modern
times. To quote Roland Vincent, a head author for the Greenville Post, When the Constitution was
ratified these firearms were muskets; today they

Why Is Individual Liberty Important
I believe in individual liberty it is extremely importance to any society. One thing that is important to
an individual liberty is freedom, which I value the most today. Freedom give people the opportunity to
speak, the right to their own opinion and pursue happiness. Freedom is very important to every human
being because it gives you a chance to express yourself and give you an overall quality of life.
However, there is certain limitations when it comes to freedom that we all must live with and that is
the laws that we all must obey.
People have the right to freedom of speech however, every person is responsible for their own action,
life, and well being, everyone should be judge individually regardless of race, gender, and or religion.

I feel that the laws for personal liberty go too far when a woman who is experiencing an unwanted

legalizing abortion. This is a woman rights and should stay a woman chose to decide whether she
want to carry a baby full term or not. Stop legalizing abortion in my opinion would not be in the best
interest of the women. There could be several reasons why a woman doesn t want to continue her
pregnancy, it could be for reason like she was rape, not financially ready, to young or to old, not
marry, and not stable to start a family. I personally feel that having an abortion it not affecting anyone

  • 2. The Importance Of Emotional Intelligence In Education From an early age we are expected to attend school for five days a week. We are expected to learn and be trained to achieve higher and score highly on standardized tests and on SAT scores. However, schools fail to educate students about the world and even ourselves. Each day we are taught the importance of going to school to get a good job. The education system has also failed to teach students how to deal with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Emotional intelligence is the ability to be aware of and control one s emotions and handle interpersonal relationships. High schools can develop social and emotional programs for students to improve their behaviors, communications, and relationships. Emotional intelligence is important in society for everyday decisions and getting along with others. In modern day, it s important that high school students are academically prepared to attend college for their future careers. When students are not prepared the effects and risks are high. Some students may experience high levels of unemployment, lower earnings, and increased health problems. These factors can be linked to why some student withdraw from school and gain mental problems (Parker 2004). Some questions that may surface when in the process of withdrawing from school are whether or not students were prepared. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that every child has the right to an education that develops their mental and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Crimes Against Humanity (1993) by Ward Churchill the author s purpose is to persuade society to make others see that the reasons for the sport s team s names are offensive, stereotypical, and nonsense. Crimes Against Humanity is about how Churchill perceives certain things on certain arguments. Crimes Against Humanity touches on the subject about native names, symbols, and images and how they are used incorrectly. In the phrase, Let s get just a little bit real here. The notation of fun embodied in rituals like the Tomahawk Chop must be understood for what it is, Churchill reveals that the notation of fun is nonsense because sports teams are actually offending the Native Americans in a way that discriminates them. One Day in the life of Ivan Denisovich Topic: How is the imagery of violence in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich used to show the suffering of the prisoners IB English A SL By Rahool Arun Session ID: May 2015 Reflective Statement: One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich was written by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Solzhenitsyn was born on December 11th, 1918 in Kislovodsk, Russia. He was 89 when he died on August 3rd 2008. Solzhenitsyn based the book on the World War 2 period, particularly the famous labour camps for prisoners in Germany and East Prussia known as gulags . Life in the gulags were tough due to the gulags being open aired and given the sub zero temperatures, survival was difficult. Solzhenitsyn, in this book, describes the difficulty of life in the gulag, full of brutality, hard manual labour, sub zero temperatures, the disgusting food rationed to the prisoners and survival. Only people who are able to cope with the conditions and manage the system can hope to survive. I chose the novel One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich as I found the book, especially the gulags, interesting. The 1990 s: A Political of war on Mexicans in California The early 1990 s suffered poor economic situations in the United States. The blame had to be put somewhere so Governor Pete Wilson of California decided to vocally address this issue with his proposed Proposition 187 in 1994. At this time California was facing economic recession and adamantly felt that the massive immigration of illegal immigrants from Mexico was the primary reason for residents economic struggles. Proposition 187, promoted as the Save Our State initiative, called for a dismissal of the availability of public service such as education and health care to illegal immigrants. It also aided in their deportation, as people such as nurses and teachers would be required to report suspected illegal immigrants to authorities. This initiative was able to pass even though public rhetoric of the opposition repeatedly called the supporters of Proposition 187 racists. For the first time in years, the number of guest rooms in Las Vegas will grow only slightly in 2001 by 3,000, pushing the total to about 127,000. This modest 2.5 per cent increase from two years ago is in stark contrast to the extraordinary growth rate of the late 1990s, when the Strip provided fertile ground for a bumper crop of ever more elaborate hotel casinos, culminating in the arrival of the Aladdin in summer 2000. You could spend a lot of time tramping from casino to casino, so consider whether you want to be based at the north, centre or south. The more recent mega resorts are the most attractive places to stay, but there are also older properties that retain a charm that hints of old Vegas. The cluster of Downtown casino hotels do a good job with accommodation, although their dining options are more limited than those on the Strip, and non gambling entertainment is practically non existent. Of course, you don t have to stay in a casino. Off the Strip, in the area surrounding the Convention Center, rooms are aimed at the business traveller and are generally unencumbered by noisy casinos, while out of town, the Regent in Summerlin and the Hyatt at Lake Las Vegas cater for visitors who want to combine casino luxury with easy access to the golf course. Casino rooms offer such good value that the budget accommodation sector is relatively small. In addition to the hostel on page 62, there are any number of fading 1950s motels cluttering up the more unfashionable stretches of Las Vegas Boulevard; their modern counterparts, the chain cheapies, can be found all over town. Clarity requires written documents to have organization that allows readers to place the information in context (Grand Canyon University (GCU), 2013). When writing, the writer must use the correct word choice for what they are meaning to say. The reader must be able to interpret the meaning. An example of not being able to interpret the meaning would be using the medical terminology such as cholecystectomy when speaking with a patient. The writer s style is his personal choice dependent on the setting, plot and characters means these three aspects of the story will be taken by the author and decided how it will best tell his story. The writer must use his skill with words to develop his style for the story, since the reader is completely at the mercy of the writer waiting for his words to write so he can feel, hear, see, smell and contemplate what is going to happen next. The writer must tell the reader what the world looks like and how it changes, who is in it and where the reader is going. One writer will deal with a genre completely different from another, developing their own style and vision. Effect Of Groupthink On Investing Kenneth Kiebles Finance 393 Professor Hocter 21 November 2016 Effect of Groupthink on Investing Groupthink is something that influences most things that people do on a daily basis. People use groupthink every single day to make decisions, to confirm their decisions, or even to compare to the decisions that they have already come to. Although groupthink has its distinct advantages in certain situations, there are without a doubt situations in which groupthink can be seen as a hindrance. How companies, and even individuals, invest their money is something that is undoubtedly being affected by groupthink every single day. Groupthink can give investors an extreme disadvantage and it can be shown by things throughout history. So, this paper is going to dive into the effects that groupthink has on investors and therefore the effects that it can even have on the economy. To understand the effect that groupthink has on investors, and therefore the economy, we must first comprehend what groupthink encompasses. Groupthink was a term devised in 1972 by psychologist Irving Janis. According to Janis, groupthink ensues when a group makes flawed choices because group pressures lead to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality testing, and oral judgement. Essentially what this means is that our decision making can be severely hampered by what the majority of the members of the group may think is the correct way to go about whatever situation may be at hand. • 24. Amending the Second Amendment On December 12, 2013, a heavily armed man walked into a small elementary school in Connecticut and opened fire, ending the lives of 26 children and teachers, not only shattering the quiet of the small town but leaving our nation lurching at the number of young lives lost. The horror of this event renewed people s passion on both sides of the fiercely debated issue of gun control and brought the issue to the forefront of American politics once again. While no new gun control laws have been passed since this tragedy, the debate over how to interpret the 2nd amendment continues. Gun control laws are the government s way of regulating the manufacture, sale, transportation, possession, and use of firearms. In our world today, we face the vast controversy of gun control and who should be able to possess a destructive firearm, and under what conditions. These laws differ significantly around the world, and in fact the laws in the United States vary by state. Supporters of strict gun laws argue the dangers of allowing citizens broad rights to possess firearms. Opponents claim that they wish to have a source of defense in their home, and also that certain regulations may violate their individual rights. Gun control laws are protected by the second amendment in the Bill of Rights, the right to bear arms. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The bill guarantees Americans the ... Like many other author s he uses his stories and his poems to show his life. In stories such as Soldier s Home , A Farewell to Arms, and In Another Country he portrays the characters as a reflection of himself. In each of these examples Hemingway explains multiple different aspects of his own life including, his life prior, during, after the war, and his love of a woman named Agnes. Although these stories aren t exact descriptions of his life, they can be interpreted as depictions of his experiences. It is hard to find any characteristics of society that plays a role as fundamental as language does (Hudson, 1996, p. 4). Language is therefore seen as more than a tool to communicate. Language is an identity used distinctly by different groups to recognise people with parallel values and beliefs who share similar qualities. A gigantic time capsule, illustrating the everyday life of ancient Romans, has captured the last moments of at least two thousand people. Pompeii had remained mostly untouched up until 1594 when building an aqueduct, upon uncovering the ashes that worked as a preservative, they found the ruins of a once great town. Casts of people showed their dying moments, gold and precious household items littered the streets. This issue within society is that we see language as a system and right or wrong. An example is Slang, African American Vernacular language and also. When hearing slang people tend to assume that the person or group using it comes from a lower class. One misconception is that an individual that is using AAE is a product of a lower income community. Proper and non proper speech is correlated to economic and social status of speaker. In this video the substitute was using African American Vernacular English when pronouncing the student s names there was voice stops devoiced at the end of the names, consonant cluster deduction and vocalization in names but when giving instruction none of these features appeared. The negative connotation in this video is the substitute was speaking in commonly used English that would be considered AAVE but because it is believed that only African Americans use AAVE the video shows how there was only one person that understood the substitute enunciation and is was a young African American male.
