DESIGN OF FIXTURE OF CONNECTING ROD FOR BORING OPERATIONijsrd.com
Connecting rod is very important part of engine. It should be accurately machined with the acceptable tolerance. Also the fluctuations of dimensions in work-piece to work piece should be minimum so that it will be easier to assemble in engine. But it has been observed that the required dimensions for the bolt diameter and smaller end diameter for the connecting rod are not continuously achievable by using the existing fixture. The diameters required of the bolts and the smaller end of the said connecting rod are 10±0.05 mm and 24±0.01 mm respectively The aim of this project is to design and development of a new fixture for machining (Boring) operation using designing software's i.e. Pro E and analysis using ANSYS ,which can eliminate the said problems. And the production rate will also increase up to 15% which is quite objective. So for that, a new hydraulic fixture is designed and observed that dimensional accuracy, increased production rate up to 15% and more output per day with boring operation. Which defines process is satisfactory enough and validates the project.
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF MACHINING FIXTURE FOR BD65 FINAL DRIVE CASE ON HORI...IAEME Publication
A machining fixture is a device used to hold or support work in the manufacturing
industry. By using the specifications of the horizontal machining center, we designed
and analyzed the 3D model of the fixture in the software. For the final drive case, this
machining fixture on LH & RH is used for Bharath dozers 65 ton capacity. This
horizontal machining center will increase production rates, reduce demand for labor,
save time. This machine will be performed after production hours, after operations
such as drilling, boring, tapping, reaming, threading. Using a fixture improves the
economy of production by enabling smooth operation and rapid transition from part
to part, reducing the skilled labor requirement to simplify set-up and use of fixtures,
and increasing compliance across a production run
An Advanced Exploration on Fixture DesignIJERA Editor
Widely used in manufacturing, fixtures have a direct impact upon product manufacturing quality, productivity and cost, so much attention has already been paid to the research fixture design and many achievements in this field have been reported. In this paper, a literature survey of fixture design and automation over the past decade is proposed. First, an introduction is given on the fixture applications in industry. Then, significant works done in the design field, including their approaches, requirements and working principles are discussed. Finally, some prospective research trends are also discussed.
Design and analysis of jig and welding fixturesagmech24
The fixture is a collection of working holdings
that holds, supports, and locates the workpiece.
Depending on their application, the fixture is needed in
different industries. The locating pin is used to restrict
the panel's degree of freedom. The panel will affect the
loading and unloading of the panel due to a fixed
position pin, so we have to configure the shift tool to
change the positioning pin during loading and unloading
of the panel. In this project we will create a CAD model
with a jig and welding fixture. The change unit or the
position unit will be designed as compact as possible,
depending on the need for the jig and the welding
fixture. This project is designed to move the positioning
pin between the locating pin and the panel to avoid
interference during loading and unloading.
This presentation is about the Jigs and fixtures used for holding the components which have to be welded . It is normally used in automated welding systems . It is beneficial for high productivity and safety .
Computer aided fixture design for machining of key waysLaukik Raut
Eccentric shaft play an important role in application of
ginning machine. Machining of keyways on eccentric
shaft is a important task. Machining on simple shaft is
easy as compare to eccentric shaft by conventional
process. machining of keyways on eccentric shaft is a
time consuming process, so reducing this time is a main
aim.
The job having a cylindrical shape and number of
keyways are required on it at an different position. This
is a challenging task for design engineer and hence
Computer Aided Fixture Design (CAFD) is incorporated
in manufacturing industry. It deals with the integration
of CAD and CNC programming in CAM systems using
software’s for fixture design. Except V block, no other
option is available to hold cylindrical object and hence
special type of fixture is designed for this case, which can
be used for machining of keyway on eccentric shaft.
Fixtures reduce operation time and increases
productivity and high quality of operation is possible.

Understanding Inductive Bias in Machine LearningSUTEJAS
This presentation explores the concept of inductive bias in machine learning. It explains how algorithms come with built-in assumptions and preferences that guide the learning process. You'll learn about the different types of inductive bias and how they can impact the performance and generalizability of machine learning models.
The presentation also covers the positive and negative aspects of inductive bias, along with strategies for mitigating potential drawbacks. We'll explore examples of how bias manifests in algorithms like neural networks and decision trees.
By understanding inductive bias, you can gain valuable insights into how machine learning models work and make informed decisions when building and deploying them.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
CW RADAR, FMCW RADAR, FMCW ALTIMETER, AND THEIR PARAMETERSveerababupersonal22
It consists of cw radar and fmcw radar ,range measurement,if amplifier and fmcw altimeterThe CW radar operates using continuous wave transmission, while the FMCW radar employs frequency-modulated continuous wave technology. Range measurement is a crucial aspect of radar systems, providing information about the distance to a target. The IF amplifier plays a key role in signal processing, amplifying intermediate frequency signals for further analysis. The FMCW altimeter utilizes frequency-modulated continuous wave technology to accurately measure altitude above a reference point.
Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for pavements is crucial to achieving sustainability. Implementing RCA for new pavement can minimize carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, reduce harmful emissions, and lower life cycle costs. Compared to natural aggregate (NA), RCA pavement has fewer comprehensive studies and sustainability assessments.
2. FIXTURE
Fixture is a work holding and support device used in the
manufacturing industry.
Fixture is used to securely locate ( position in specific
location or orientation ) and support the work, ensuring
that all parts produced using the fixture will maintain
conformity and interchangeability.
3. Purpose of Fixture
A fixture’s primary purpose is to create a secure mounting
point for a work piece, allowing for support during
operation and increased accuracy, precision, reliability,
and interchangeability in the finished parts.
4. FIXTURES MUST ALWAYS BE DESIGNED WITH
ECONOMICS IN MIND; THE PURPOSE OF THESE
DEVICES IS TO REDUCE COSTS, AND SO THEY MUST BE
DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE COST
REDUCTION OUTWEIGHS THE COST OF
IMPLEMENTING THE FIXTURE. IT IS USUALLY
BETTER, FROM AN ECONOMIC STANDPOINT, FOR A
FIXTURE TO RESULT IN A SMALL COST REDUCTION
FOR A PROCESS IN CONSTANT USE, THAN FOR A
LARGE COST REDUCTION FOR A PROCESS USED ONLY
OCCASIONALLY.
DESIGN
5. LOCATION
Locating components ensure the geometrical stability of
the work piece . They make sure that the workpiece rests in
the correct position and orientation for the operation by
addressing and impeding all the degrees of freedom the work
piece possesses.
For locating work pieces, fixtures employ pins (or buttons),
clamps, and surfaces. These components ensure that the
work piece is positioned correctly, and remains in the same
position throughout the operation. Surfaces provide support
for the piece, pins allow for precise location at low surface
area expense, and clamps allow for the workpiece to be
removed or its position adjusted. Locating pieces tend to be
designed and built to very tight specifications.
6. SUPPORT
In designing the locating parts of a fixture, only the direction of
forces applied by the operation are considered, and not
their magnitude. Locating parts technically support the
workpiece, but do not take into account the strength of forces
applied by the process and so are usually inadequate to actually
secure the workpiece during operation. For this
purpose, support components are used.
To secure workpieces and prevent motion during operation,
support components primarily use two techniques: positive
stops and friction. A positive stop is any immovable component
(such as a solid surface or pin) that, by its placement,
physically impedes the motion of the work piece.
7. PROBLEM STATEMENT
Manufacture a fixture to hold and support two
rectangular ( 20*10*5) work piece accurately to
drill a hole on joint .
After joining that two work piece it will be square
of (20*20*5)
Remove that work piece without disturbing the
alignment of both rectangular work piece with
centered hole .
8. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS WHILE DESIGNING JIGS
AND FIXTURES
Designing of fixtures depend upon so many factors . These factors are analysed to
get design inputs for fixtures . The list of such factors is mentioned below:
Study of workpiece and finished component size and geometry .
Type and capacity of the machine, its extent of automation.
Provision of locating devices in the machine.
Available clampin arrangements in the machine
Available indexing devices, their accuracy.
Evaluation of variability in the performance results of the machine.
Rigidity and of the machine tool under consideration.
Study of ejecting devices, safety devices ,etc.
