3. 1. A fixture is a work-holding or support
device used in the manufacturing
industry.
2. It is used to accurately manufacture
duplicate parts.
3. Reduces the requirement of skilled
labour.

4. 1. Locating Elements:
These position the workpiece accurately.

5. 2. Clamping Elements:
These hold the workpiece securely in
the located position during the operation.

6. 3. Tool Guiding and Setting Elements:
These aid guiding of the tool in the correct
position with respect to workpiece.

7. 1. Milling Fixture
Milling operations tend to
involve large, straight cuts that
produce lots of chips and involve
varying force. Locating and
supporting areas must usually be
large and very sturdy in order to
accommodate milling operations;
strong clamps are also a
requirement.

The welding fixture is used where two or more parts
needed to be welded with high accuracy.
The fixture should be strong enough to withstand the
welding.

The drilling fixtures are used to guide the
drilling tool for drilling the holes into the
workpiece. Bushing is also done by using drilling
fixtures.

The assembly fixture is used to assemble
many parts of a component with ease. The
processes can be carried on the part and desired
component can be achieved.

Gauge fixture is used to check wether the
dimensions of a job are accurate or not. Welding
distortion, holes & bush location can also be
checked by using gauge fixture.
