This document describes a study on the effects of adding rectangular notches to the fins of a cylindrical heat sink. A cylindrical heat sink with longitudinal aluminum fins was fabricated, with fins containing notches of varying sizes (10%, 20%, and 30% of the fin area) and configurations (with and without compensating for the removed notch area). Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis and experimental testing were performed to analyze heat transfer and air flow over heat sinks with different fin notch variations. The results showed that heat transfer increased for heat sinks with 10% and 20% notches compared to a plane fin heat sink, but decreased for heat sinks with 30% notches. CFD analysis of the different designs provided data on pressure

Abstract The objective of the project is to investigate the effect of current, pulse on time and pulse off time. For the proposed work Material removal rate (MRR) and Tool wear rate (TWR) were chosen as responses and Current, Pulse on time and pulse off time were chosen as process parameters. Hybrid Aluminium Silicon Carbide (Al 7075 + 3wt. % of SiCp+ 3wt. % of B4C) is used as work material and copper is used as tool material. Design of experiment technique is employed for the experimentation. The mathematical models are prepared by Response Surface Methodology (RSM) technique and Box Behnken Design (BBD) is selected to design the matrix for different combination of process parameters. After completion of the experiments analysis was done using analysis of variance (ANOVA) for 90% confidence level. Keywords: Current, Pulse on time, Pulse off time, Material removal rate (MRR), Tool wear rate (TWR), Design of experiments (DOE), Response surface methodology (RSM), Box-Behken design (BBD), Analysis of variance (ANOVA).
Abstract The requirement of energy in any processing industry is not only a need but it is indeed a most wanted utility. In a typical processing or manufacturing industry the most common utility are steam and cooling water. However the cost of these utility are no longer cheap, in fact they are expensive. Therefore saving these utility or minimizing the usage of these utilities is one of the most needed practice in a processing industry. Pinch technology is the most common method, which is aimed at minimizing the requirement of utilities by maximizing the process to process heat transfer. In the present study temperature interval diagram or TID is used to identify the targets for minimum utility requirement and maximum process to process heat transfer in a processing facility. The targets for heat exchanger network are presented and minimization of number of heat exchangers are provided using stream splitting technique. Air cooling effect of fins on a Honda shine bikeIJERA Editor
The main of aim of this work is to study various researches done in past to improve heat transfer rate of cooling fins by changing cylinder block fin geometry. Low rate of heat transfer through cooling fins is the main problem in this type of cooling. So efficiency of the engine is increase by increase the heat transfer. Examples of direct air cooling in modern automobiles are rare. The most common example is the commercials Automobile bike like a Honda Shine, Bajaj bike, Honda splendor etc. It is conclude about shape try to this fins is more effectively heat transfer in Honda shine bike compare to existing fins. After FEA Analysis it checking on fin whether efficiency of heat transfer increases or not. This work validation with Experimental and Mathematical.

Shortage of detailed and accurate experimental data on fuel-air mixing in furnaces is due to the difficulty and complexity of measurements in flames. Although it may be possible with infra-Red camera to obtain an indication of what happens in the furnace by graphical image resolution this is not expected to be sufficiently detailed because it contains only the temperature gradient. More detailed information, however, may be obtained from the simulated resolution using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique where the total number of elements/points defines the detailed level that can be displayed or captured in graphical image. Simulation resolution studies two aspects of the momentum effects on flame which are the forward momentum normally associated with the average outlet velocity of the combustion products and the lateral momentum caused by swirl. Following the American Petroleum Institute guidelines (API 560) for combustion adjustment in furnaces, it may be possible to have less emission and a maximum efficiency, but the potential interaction between the several operation and design factors are not thereby considered as in a mathematical model of CFD.
Turbulent Heat Transfer from a Flat Plate Placed Downstream of a FenceIJERA Editor
This paper presents an experimental study of the heat transfer and flow friction for turbulent flows of air over a
heated flat plate mounted downstream of a fence. A rectangular brass plate is attached to a heating unit and fixed
inside the test section of a subsonic wind tunnel. A number of non-metallic fences with different heights are used
separately to promote turbulence over the plate. A series of experiments are conducted to examine the following
parameters: fence height to plate length ratio (H/L), the distance between the fence and plate relative to plate
length (S/L) and the Reynolds number, which is calculated based on the stream wise length of the plate
(1.5×105≤ ReL≤ 4.5×105). The first set of the results, which is obtained for the case of the flat plate without a
fence, satisfied with other published results. The results in the cases of the plate placed downstream of a fence
revealed that the Nusselt number and friction factor are critically dependent on the fence height and the distance
between the fence and the plate. A maximum Nusselt number enhancement ratio of 1.7 was achieved
corresponding to a friction factor ratio of 2.5. New correlation was obtained for the thermal efficiency (η) based
on the Nusselt number enhancement ratio and friction factor ratio at different arrangements of the considered
parameters.
Numerical Investigation of Forced Convection cooling of Electrical enclosure ...IJERA Editor
Electrical enclosures consist of high heat generating electrical components, so removal of heat generated
remains as our primary aim. To achieve this, cooling the electrical equipment is always an economical and
optimum solution to keep the electrical components to their operating temperature limits. Placing the cooling
components in the enclosure is another important parameter to be considered. This parameter can be judged
using a simple CFD analysis.
Therefore in the present work CFD simulation has been carried out by considering a typical Aluminum
Electrical enclosure of volume (300mm X 300mm X 300mm) with total internal heat dissipation of 150W. With
those values into consideration the surface area of enclosure, enclosure temperature rise, air flow requirement in
an enclosure is calculated and based on which the fan is selected.

Abstract
Heat Pipe is a heat transfer device used in many applications and it is very similar in some respects to the thermosyphon. Since there were several limitations of thermosyphon, heat pipe was developed. The idea of the heat pipe was first suggested in 1942, since then over a several decades the serious development of a heat pipe took place. Heat pipe mainly consists of three regions viz. evaporator, adiabatic and condenser section. The heat pipe differs from the thermosyphon by virtue of its ability to transport heat against gravity by an evaporation-condensation cycle. This research work includes experimentation on available heat pipe, development of CFD model and its validation with experimental results using CFD Tool. The results obtained by CFD are in good agreement with an experimental results. Since the heat pipe is used for transferring the heat, this research work focuses on increasing the heat transfer by modified model, modifications in terms of increased surface area, is proposed. From CFD analysis it was found that the proposed modified heat pipe shows enhancement in performance in terms of heat transfer rate by 19% when it is simulated for without heat sink case and 45% while with heat sink case, compared to conventional heat pipe. The mixture multiphase model from CFD too is used for simulation of heat pipe.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
