The document compares the heat transfer performance of rectangular fins and V-shaped fins attached to a vertical base plate under natural convection. Experiments were conducted with different fin configurations, including rectangular fins, vertical fins, horizontal fins, and V-fins oriented in different directions. Parameters like the average and base heat transfer coefficients and Nusselt number were calculated and compared across configurations. The results showed that the V-fins configuration with the apex pointing downward performed best, providing around a 20% higher average heat transfer coefficient compared to the plain vertical plate, and around a 10% higher coefficient than the vertical fin configuration.
