Current Status Of The Refining Industry Essay
The refining industry is a massive global industry that brings in billions of dollars every year.
Millions of Americans use gasoline and petroleum products in their daily lives but rarely give
much thought to how these fuels get refined, or which states or nations do the majority of the
reining. Even fewer people give thought to the impact that the lack of refineries has on oil
producing states, and/or oil rich nations. This research paper examines the current status of the
refining industry, the domestic and global locations of oil refineries, the impact of the aging
domestic refineries, as well as considering if/where the U.S. should build new refineries to keep
up with the growing demand. An analytical look into the status of the refining industry reveals that
this billion dollar industry is relying on aging refineries, why refineries are located where they are
and the impact that not having a refinery has on both oil producing states (in America) and on oil
rich nations around the globe. Oil refineries are dispersed throughout the world and throughout the
United States, but what makes one location better suited for a refinery than another? Many
refineries are located close to crude oil production centers such as the Gulf Coast (which has
significant volumes of crude oil produced both onshore and offshore); near destinations for
importing crude oil; or near major population centers where much of the refineries output will be
needed (e.g., California and the areas near

Purpose In The Gospel Of Luke
Purpose
While there are many more specific purposes in the Gospel of Luke, the overall purpose is a
defense of the Christian faith, useful for both evangelism and discipleship. Luke is an eloquent
Gospel that provided valuable information about the faith for the believers in the church that are
still as applicable today in the twenty first century. A primary purpose in the Gospelof Luke is to
tell of the miraculous conception, birth, and childhood of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Luke is the
only Gospel (besides Matthew) that focuses on the birth and virginal conception of Christ. The
Gospels of Mark and John give no information regarding the conception and birth of Christ; the
first mention of Christ in these Gospels is of Christ as a grown man. While Matthew gives
account of the visit of the Magi and flight into Egypt that occurred in the earliest years of the life
of Christ (Matthew 2:1 23), Luke is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gospel of Luke begins with an introduction, then tells of the foretelling of the birth of John
the Baptist to the priest Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth (Luke 1:5 25). Zechariah and
Elizabeth were both of an advanced age, and Elizabeth had not yet born children. An angel of
the Lord, Gabriel, visited Zechariah to announce that Elizabeth would conceive and bear a son
named John, even in her advanced age. Zechariah was in disbelief at Gabriel s words, so Gabriel
stated that Zechariah would be unable to speak until the birth of John due to his disbelief.
Elizabeth gave birth to a son, John the Baptist, who would later preach and would baptize Jesus
Christ. This miraculous conception and birth is similar to the miraculous conception and birth of
Isaac to Abraham and Sarah; Isaac and John the Baptist were both babies that were heavily desired
and prayed for by their parents, and were conceived when their mothers were older and thought to

Pet Industry Analysis
Industry Description and Outlook Based off an article Miami Herald in 2014, dog grooming and
boarding businesses make around $100,000+ annually. With this information, the market share for
one of these companies would be .0017% market share, while the higher end businesses in the pet
services industry make $1,000,000+ annually which translates to a .017% market share. I did get a
chance to speak to a representative from the PetParadise Resort and Day Spa which said that they
make an estimated $70,000 $80,000 per year. Based off this research we can expect to make at
least $70,000 a year. Therefore, in five years we should make at least $350,000 and in 10 years
700,000. According to The MiamiHerald, businesses in the dogboarding and grooming... Show

Government in the Macro Environment The Animal Welfare Act was signed into law in 1966. It is
the only Federal law in the United States that regulates the treatment of animals in research,
exhibition, transport, and by dealers. There are rules in effect for housing, care, and welfare,
including disaster planning. In addition, there are a few federal regulations that have an impact on
the production and sale of pet food products. As of 2007, the Food and Drug Administration
developed regulations on pet food ingredients and processing control standards.

A Brief Research of Christian Science Essay
Christian Science
What is Christian Science? Who is Mary Baker Eddy? Where does Christian Science come
from? Is Christian Science like Scientology? What are Christian Science beliefs? Why are we
here and where do we go when we die? These question may be raised when you hear Christian
Science. Christian Science is unique in its own way, it may not seem all that amazing like other
religions but Christian Science is truly amazing over all. Some people refer to Christian Science as
non Christian or an a cult, but that s not true. Christian Science is a religion that formed more
slowly than other religions but is still a good religion. Christian Science is a religion that lets you

Unlike Christian Science, in Scientology there is no belief in the Holy Bible, God, or Jesus Christ. (
The Differences Between Scientology and Christian Science ). Christian Science and Scientology
are not the same in anyway yet people still confuse the two.
Christian Science don t have to many beliefs but they do have words that were left behind for other
Christian Scientists. Christian Science religion teaches the existence of an all powerful God and
the authority and inspiration of the Bible. Christian Scientists believe in the crucifixion and
resurrection of Jesus to be essential to human redemption. Mary Baker Eddy taught the belief in one
God and unlike traditional orthodox Christianity, described God with the synonyms: Principle, Soul,
Mind, Spirit, Life, Truth, and Love. ( What is Christian Science? ).
There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter.
All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All in all.
Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error.
Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal.
Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness.
Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual. (S H 468 quoted in What is Christian Science? )
According the beliefs of Christian Science, humans are just subjects to the law of matter as long we

Total Quality Management Guru s
One of the foremost and well known philosophers of Total Quality Management is W. E.
Deming. Deming attended Yale University and received his PhD in Physics in 1928 and was a
well trained statistician. In 1950 he was invited to Japan by the Union of Japanese Scientists and
Engineers (JUSE), where he preformed several lectures for executive, managers and researchers.
This was a difficult time for Japan, the war had just ended and the county was struggling to keep
its people employed. Through Deming s training, flailing Japanese industry was able to compete
on a global level and became one of the countries best known for qualityproducts. Deming is
credited with establishing the axiom, work smarter, not harder. His teachings promoted... Show

Utilizing his philosophy, Deming s was able to assist several of largest businesses in America in
becoming the companies that truly valued what the customer wanted and delivered appropriately.
Along with Deming , Joseph Juran was another well known TQM philosopher and has been called
the Father of quality . ( Feo, n.d) In 1937 he conceptualize the Pareto principle that stated that the
over 80% of quality defects are caused by factors controllable by management. (Lewis, Goodman,
Fandt, Michlitsch, 2007). Juran s philosophy revolved around the customer s perspective, believing
that ; higher quality means a greater number of features that meet the customers need, and higher
quality consist of fewer defects. Juran is responsible for the management principle of Quality
Trilogy . This management ideas identifies three quality principles; quality planning, quality
Improvements and quality control (Skymark, 2007)

Condominimal Housing In Canada
In Canadian real estate there are three major types of ownership freehold, co operative and
condominimum. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. The owner of each type
is responsible for maintaining the property and following the bylaws.
Condominium is a form of property that can be appied to almost any type of housing. To be an
owner of a condo means to own a unit built inside a condominimum complex. The unit does not
come with the land or any space outside the walls. There are monthly patments to maintain common
areas, such as elevators, stairs, parking lots, carpets, entrances, and recreational facilities. Each
condominimum has its own set of rules and regulations. The price of a condo depends on several
factors: location, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It does not share outside walls with another house or building. Detached house tends to be the most
expensive type of property due to the land costs. To be an owner of a detached house means to
own both the house and the land it stands on. The maintenance of a detached house is a sole
responsibility of the owner. The owners pay the monthly bills for water, electricity and heating, as
well as all the other bills. Owners can make changes to their houses, but they must follow local
bylaws. Detached houses provide more space and privacy than other property types.
Co operative ownership can be divided into three categories: townhouse, semi detached house and
duplex/triplex.
Townhouse is a complex of units that are adjoined to each other, share common walls, and are
combined into one building. Usually townhouses consist of 2 3 floors and have a basement.
Townhouses are quite popular, because they are not too expensive and has low maintenance costs.
The price of the townhouse depends on the area, proximity to the subway stations, highways,
universities, business centers and other infrastructure.
Semi detached house is a property attached to another on one side. Owners maintain their own
side, like a detached house. To be an owner of a semi detached home means to own one side of the
property and the land it stands on. Semi detached houses are less expensive than detached houses.
The price depends on the area and

Noah Webster Essay
Noah Webster
Noah Webster, familiar to most Americans as the writer of the first American dictionary, worked as
a schoolteacher in the late eighteenth century. As he taught, he came to realize that there were some
major problems with the way English was taught in the American schools. The United States of
America had recently declared its independence from England, and was struggling to form its own
identity. The schools were still using textbooks from England, and these books varied in
consistency when it came to spelling, pronunciation and grammar (Short Summary Website). As a
teacher, and as a patriot, Webster felt a need for an American textbook. He wanted consistency and
he wanted it to reflect that there was an American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it did not cover a great deal, it laid the foundation for his later dictionaries. It included
distinctly American spellings of words and pronunciations. It also supported Webster s belief in
democracy. By seeking to standardize the learning of language in American classrooms, he was
putting into play a belief that the semantics of a language play a key role in a person s power to
create a system of ideas, thus creating a more educated citizen able to participate in a democratic
system (Noah Webster s American DictionaryWebsite).
This book was revolutionary not only because it sought to Americanize the classroom, but
because of the tone of the book. Most previous grammars were prescriptive, meaning that they
informed the student how the words should be spoken or spelled. The Blue Backed Speller, on
the other hand, was a descriptive work, meaning that it merely showed how words were actually
used and pronounced by real speakers of the language (Millward 245).
Although the blue backed speller was a great success, it merely provided Webster with a paycheck
that enabled him to compile what would be his greatest work: a complete dictionary of the English
language that was tailored to the speakers of the United States. Webster wanted a dictionary that
was not only easy to use, but wished it to follow the descriptive philosophy that he had begun with
his speller. As a result, he streamlined the spellings of many words (Brett Website),

What Is The Black Arts Movement
The Black Arts Movement began in 1965 after the assignation of Malcolm X. Richard Powell
explains in his book Black Art; A cultural History that
those who embraced the Black Power movement often fell into one of two camps: the
Revolutionary Nationalists, who were best represented by the Black Panther Party, and the
Cultural Nationalists. The latter group called for the creation of poetry, novels, visual arts, and
theater to reflect pride in black history and culture. This new emphasis was an affirmation of the

A Brief Note On Voltage Gated Sodium Channels
Abstract
Voltage gated sodium channels are fundamental players in animals physiology. By triggering the
depolarization of the lipid membrane they enable generation and propagation of the action potential.
The involvement of these channels in numerous pathological conditions makes them relevant target
for pharmaceutical intervention. Therefore, modulation of sodium conductance via small molecule
binding constitutes a promising strategy to treat a large variety of diseases. However, this approach
entails significant challenges: voltage gated sodium channels are complex nanomachines and the
details of their workings have only recently started to become clear. Here we review ¬¬ with
emphasis on the computational studies some of the major milestones in the long standing search of
a quantitative microscopic description of the molecular mechanism and modulation of voltage
gated sodium channels.
Introduction: Physiological Role of Voltage Gated Sodium Channels (VGSCs)
Cells respond to stimuli from the environment by enabling the passage of ions across the plasma
membrane, a process that results in the propagation of an electrical signal. Ion channels are the key
players of this process, the membranes of excitable cells are studded with a myriad of these integral
membrane proteins, which transduce chemical and electrical stimuli into currents of charged
chemical species (Hille, 2001). Owing to their pivotal role in cell physiology, a large number of
genes encode for ion

Determination And Determination Is The Most Important In Life
Determination means something different to everyone, to me it means persevering through any
and all the obstacles life throws at me. Without any willpower, I d never get anything done, and
for that reason, I m glad to say that determination and strength are most important in my life. It
serves a role in my current life, as well as it will in my futureto enable me to be the best version of
myself.
Every day is a new struggle, passing tests, turning in homework, keeping my GPA from tanking, it
s almost impossible for me to get through all of this without tenacity. When I m staying up until
2:00 a.m finishing loads of homework and projects, the one thing that keeps me from cuddling
up in a warm blanket and passing out, is my determination to finish the work I ve been given. I
nurture this human capacity in my day to day life, not only in my schoolwork but in my social
life. Like any pair, me and my best friend fight, we ll have friendship droughts , as my mom
would say. In spite of all the fighting, I stick with her because I know all the bickering won t last
and there will come a day when I ll be glad to have my best friend by my side. However,
sometimes we do lose people for good and it s hard to let go of the past and move on into the
future. When my grandfather passed away, I felt like I didn t know how to live anymore. I
couldn t imagine getting through life without the one person I confided in most, the person that
always put a smile on my face. I was grief stricken, and the only thing that allowed me to keep my
composure and not fall apart like a brittle vase was my hope that I d make it past this chapter of my
life and move on to better things. Hope is what drives us, it s what makes us strong, and enables
us to keep on keepin on , as some would say.
This determination I ve referenced is what is needed in large amounts for my future job prospects
as well. For a while now, I ve dreamt of starting up my own restaurant or maybe becoming a lawyer,
both require enormous quantities of mental and emotional strength. For the restaurant, I would have
to endure restless nights studying for culinary school, after which I proceed to acquire a building
suitable for my business, hire a staff, spend numerous hours

Let It Snow Analysis
A Blizzard of Emotion After reading several very different critical readings, Let it Snow stood
out the most. A story based around the author as a young child and his siblings during a snow
day seemed to be a rather strange basis for a story; however, the dark purpose of this story has
shed a light on the unnerving reality that sometimes a mother wanted peace a quiet and the only
way to achieve it, was to lock her kids out of the house. As the story progresses, it is truly evident
that the children may have died if their mother did not come for them. David Sedaris s Let it Snow
is an exemplary form of writing that introduces a strong conflict, descriptive character development,
and depicts strong emotion. In the beginning of the story the reader is introduced to a mother who
was getting fed up that her children had five days off school due to the snow storm that had hit
North Carolina. She began to have a small breakdown which led to booting her children into the
cold with the words, Get the hell out of my house! (Sedaris) The conflict began to develop after
the children were outside for several hours and when they decided that they could come home,
they found that the door was locked. They shouted and yelled to try to get her attention, but it
seemed to be of no use. The author and his siblings began to realize the harsh reality that they
could die out in the cold. They then devised an outrageous plan by allowing the author s youngest
sister lay in the road a get

How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture
In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is
important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek
culture were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The
Flow of History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the
language is said to have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened
the Linear A language to make it their own, it is known as Linear B.
The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared
most toward warfare. The peacefulness of the Minoan culture is depicted in their artwork, pottery,
as well as their architecture (The Flow of History, 2007). The ruins of the palaces from the
Minoans do not display any fortification to indicate they needed to protect themselves from
enemies. The weapons used in later Greek culture was similar to the weaponry crafted by the
Mycenaeans, as well as the Minoans. The noted difference is the metal, the Minoans and the
Mycenaeans crafted their weapons with bronze the later Greeks used iron (Matthews et. al., 2014).

Coffee Preventative Health Benefits
Coffee is a popular drink that many people rely on to start their day and give them a pick me up
throughout it. Simply smelling the rich aroma of the roasted beans brewing in the morning is
enough to start getting a person to feel more alert and prepared. When that first cup is consumed
and kicks in it gears a person up and gets them motivated for action. However, what they may not
know is that by consuming 2 3 cups of this aromatic beverage a day they may be providing
preventative health benefits on a mental and physical level. These benefits have been documented
by researchers in scientific fields based on conducting studies.
One of the benefits realized by researchers is that the minerals and elements of coffee help boost the
levels of serotonin and dopamine in the brain, which in turn will help to reduce feelings of

Coffee does have its side effects. It is best to drink it black, adding sugar or creamers not only

The Aftermath Of Hurricane Katrina
1. INTRODUCTION
During the Hurricane Katrina in 2005, even though the National Weather Service (NWS) had
forecasted the storm characteristics information on wind speed, storm surge and rainfall accurately,
the local authorities responded inadequately (Kent, 2006; Basher, 2006). The aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina pumps a series of discussions on emergency responses in a hurricane hazard
(e.g., Basher, 2006; Kent, 2006; Kamarck, 2007; Spencer, 2013). Researches draw their attention
to this discussion focused on three questions: (1) who should be in charge (e.g., Kamarck, 2007;

carry the PARs to the people who are at risk (Basher, 2006; Lindell and Perry, 2012), whereas
risk area households response efforts, on the other hand, would rely on the guidance of officials

efforts are often limited by their information availability (Chen et al., 2007). Consequently, the
failure of the delivery of the appropriate PARs in time would either set those households in
danger or push them to follow peers response actions (Huang et al., 2012; Huang, Lindell Prater,

tend to struggle on PARs selections and the triggers from wait and see to take immediate action

The Removal Of A System
Uninstall
It includes the removal of a system that is no longer in use. It also involves the reconfiguration of
other systems that had dependencies with the uninstalled system.
Retire
This is where a system is considered obsolete, and any support from the developer gets terminated.
It marks the end of the lifecycle of a system.
System Maintenance
This includes the modification done on a system after it has been deployed to correct any system
fault or make improvements on the system performance. This process involves a variety of
activities such as the deletion of obsolete activities, error correction, and optimization among others.
System maintenance process includes:
System preparation and transition of activities including the creation of a maintenance plan,
training on how to handle problems established during the development phase and a follow up on
product configuration management.
Problem modification and analysis process. This is typically done after the developed system has
become the responsibility of the maintenance group headed by the maintenance programmer.
The next step includes the consideration of implementing the modification itself.
Once the change has been done, the next process is the acceptance of the change where the
modified work is checked by the individual that submitted the modification request
Next, is the migration process which is usually exceptional and does not count as part of the daily
maintenance task. It is initiated where the

Outline Of Unresponsiveness
Considering the high mortality in the intensive care unit in hospitals compared to other units as
well as the high costs of inpatient treatment in these units, mortality prediction has long been a
concern [3]. In recognition of these problems, various scoring scales have been proposed and
validated. However, no score has been used as a gold standard and some are difficult to use [4].
The most commonly used scale is Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) [5]. Lately Full Outline of
Unresponsiveness (FOUR) score has been validated and is being used as an alternative to GCS
in evaluation of consciousness in severely brain damaged patients [2]. GCS was introduced in
1974 as a method to objectively determine the severity of brain dysfunction and coma six hours
after the occurrence of head trauma [1]. It takes into consideration of three parameters, eye
opening, verbal response and motor response. It was revised in 1976 with the addition of a sixth
point in motor response subscale for withdrawal from pain stimulus [6]. Although initially devised
for the patients with traumatic brain injury, it has now been validated for most of other primary
neurological disorders like intracerebral hemorrhage [7], subarachnoid hemorrhage [8],

When the Watched Becomes the Watcher In the aftermath of September Eleventh, Americans
developed extreme prejudice towards people with Muslim beliefs. In Watched by Marina Budhos,
we see this discrimination towards the Muslim population, including the main character Naeem.
Naeem feels as if everyone looks at him with determination to prove him guilty with whatever
crime possible. He feels like he is being watched by the police and even his neighbors, putting him
in the middle of complete chaos. Everyone has traditions and customs that reflect their cultural
background. In Naeem s family they have unique practices, including praying rituals. I calm down.

I can hardly breathe now. My teeth hurt. This is a test, only this time, I m not confused. I know
exactly what he s asking of me. (Budhos 44). In this section of the book, Naeem is being asked
to do a very risky thing. He is being asked to become a watcher, a mosque crawler.(Budhos 45).
This is evident of others judging Naeem for his culture, because in this sense these policemen
are taking advantage of the fact that Naeem comes from a poor family and is need of money.
Here Naeem makes a decision that affects the entire novel. They went back to Bangladesh, what
with all the trouble after 9/11. (Budhos 104). Having the novel take place in this point and time
creates this atmosphere of hatred and fear towards muslims. This makes Naeem become a
watcher because without this detail in the setting, Muslims would not have become a target and
Naeem would not have this tedious and dangerous job. About a thousand a month. (Budhos 121).
Naeem was chosen to do a job because of his cultural background. He had little money, was in a
lot of trouble, and had ways of getting into what the police needed to know more about. The police

This is my last annual letter to you. By the time you read this, Sam Palmisano will be our new

IBM s Decade of Transformation: Turnaround to Growth
In March 2002, Gerstner passed the reins of power to Sam Palmisano, a 31 year company
veteran, to complete the transformation. Palmisano and the senior executive team were
committed to returning the company to greatness. [Our problems in the late 1980s and early
1990s] were our own fault, Nick Donofrio, senior vice president, Technology and Manufacturing,
explained. We are driven by a passion that says: Never again. 1 IBM visionary, Irving Wladawsky

in the computer industry, opening the way for the IBM System/360 to become the dominant design

that created new industries even as it transformed established industries and the organizations that
competed with them. During that period IBM was viewed as the greatest company in the world,
Palmisano explained. Palmisano, Wladawsky Berger, and the executive team at IBM believed that

Goal Setting Paper
During the beginning of the semester the goal setting essay allowed me to set goals I aimed to
achieve by the end of the semester that related to improving these following skills organization,
delivery, content when public speaking. This assignment also gave me an opportunity to
present any open ended goal I hoped to accomplish. In the goal setting paper, I stated
brainstorming allowed me to pick a topic I was comfortable sharing in front of my peers and I
used this method to organize my key points. Today I still use brainstorming to get my ideas and
speech content organized for my speech outlines, so I can have a smooth delivery. Regarding my
organizational skills when preparing and developing a speech, I am satisfied with the
improvements and I have learned a great deal about preparing a speech prior to public speaking. For
instances, during this course I have gained a better understanding that different speech often

Essay on The Popularity of Seinfeld
The Popularity of Seinfeld
Add a dash Elaine, a spoonful of Jerry, a pinch of George, and handful of Kramer and you end up
with a perfectly seasoned spicy sitcom that Americans just can not get enough of. Seinfeld,
featuring the hilarious stand up comedian Jerry Seinfeld himself, is dear to many of our hearts and
the show plays an essential part in satisfying our constant quest for humor. The show focuses on
real life situations and problems such as romance, friends, careers, and adventures that everyone can
relate to. I believe that Seinfeld is attractive to most people for a variety of reasons. For these
reasons the shows success was inevitable. Each of the characters has it s own unique personality

Jerry s contribution to the fearsome four is as important as the peanut butter in a peanut butter
and jelly sandwich. It s great by itself, but even better with its complements. His character
appeals to the sensible and laid back audience because they can relate. However, the complete
opposite types swoon over him because they envy the qualities that they would like to possess. I
would have to say that Jerry is mostly responsible for the shows immediate fame and without
him Seinfeld just wouldn t be Seinfeld. Jason Alexander, who plays George, has a unique
combination of traits that make him irresistibly hilarious. He pulls off the sympathetic and
charming sort while other times he s purely devious and radical. He plays Jerry s sidekick and
together they foolishly run around New York City like kids in a candy store. Jason also has his
share of accomplishments such as two Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe nomination and two
American Comedy Awards for best supporting actor in a television series. George portrays the
baldheaded stingy mastermind who s always stirring up trouble and brewing up schemes to make
him look cooler than we all know he really is. His tendency to become easily red faced and throw
random tantrums captures viewer s attention. Because of George s love/hate relationship with his
friends he is always a focal point for the show. His short,

The Six Principals Of Persuasion
Six Principals of Persuasion To run a successful business there are many qualities a person needs
to have. Some things are inherently given such as charm and good looks. There are also qualities
than can be learned like the art of being an eloquent speaker or how to be a persuasive speaker. The
art of persuasioncan be delicate, you aim is to persuade you audience not to manipulate them. It is
very important not to confuse the two. On the one hand you are using facts to convey your point on
the other you are attempting to play on the emotions of your audience. Robert Cialdiniexplains it
best with his six principals of persuasion. The Principal of Reciprocity is the first of Robert
Cialdini s principals of persuasion. Reciprocity simply means a mutual exchange of privileges
(Merriam Webster. n.d.).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This principal teaches you how the clients appreciate commitment and consistency but also how
you can get commitment and consistency from your client. All you have to do is provide a
timely and consistent product or service and your part is done. To get your client to keep
coming back to you, there are a few things you can ask of them such as something small like
writing a review of your services, or rewarding them for their loyalty to your company. By
getting your customer to write a review, you are already helping yourself with the next principal
of persuasion. Fifth, we have the Principal of Consensus. It is true that people follow the path of
least resistance and have a pack mentality. One of the first things people do before they decide to
buy a product is to read the customer reviews. If majority of the people like it then it is more
likely that they will buy it. Celebrity endorsements and personal testimonials are some of the most
effective ways to persuade you audience. If you are selling sneakers you would not have Betty
White endorse you, rather you would have an athlete like Kobe

Jefferson Vs Hamilton Vs. Hamilton
Jefferson vs. Hamilton Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton lived in a time where things in
the United States were not extremely stable, and the Declaration of Independence was yet to be
set in stone. Jefferson and Hamilton had two separate and different lifestyles and views of the
government. Jefferson was born approximately 12 years earlier than Hamilton, on April 13, 1743
in the English Colony of Virginia. Since his father was wealthy, Jefferson received the best
education possible and had a very simplistic childhood. On the other side, Hamilton was born on
approximately January 11, 1755 on the island of Nevis, in an unsteady home where his father was
not successful and drifted out of his life. Not only did their differences in the way Jefferson and

Summary Of Sophie Scholl And The White Rose
The book Sophie Scholl and the White Rose by Annette Dumbach is a book about resistance,
Nazism and the path to freedom under Hitler s rein. In this story the main characters Sophie and
Hans Scholl play a part in the path towards resistance during Hitler s power.
Sophie and her brother both start as being fans of Nazism and Hitler s rein. Hans was an active
Hitler Youthleader all the children had been members of the movement the most disturbing
aspect of their lives had been the conflicts this had aroused with their fathers (Dumbach 15).
They did this even against their father s wishes and beliefs. They thought that it was the right
thing to do because all of the other children around them were doing this same thing. They saw it
as an exciting thing to participate in. They felt themselves a part in the rebuildings of their
deeply divided and demoralized nation (24). Before Hitler came to power, when they listened to
him speak they liked what he had to say about the youth. However they ended up changing these
views. All of the Scholl children had grown disillusioned with National Socialism, and after a few
tension filled years, the family was reconciled (Dumbach 15). They do this because their family
stood posed against a regime that was making increasing inroads into the peace and autonomy of
their lives (15). Also Hans was appalled by the rules that the Hitler Youth had in place. [A]n early
confrontation that raised within him doubts about the organization to

Aboriginal Education Problem Analysis
Context and importance of the problem
The Aboriginal people of Canada are suffering due to poverty and the lack of education is
one of the major reasons for that. The Aboriginal Educational Society of Canada believes that the
Canadian government needs to increase the funding for Aboriginals in secondary and post
secondary because many do not get the opportunity to pursue an education due to lack of
funding. They Canadian government also needs to start teaching kindergarten to grade 12 about
Aboriginal history as it is important to Canadian culture. The root cause of this problem is that
Aboriginal children are failing to develop a sense of identity through residential school curricula.

This is because much of Canadian society lacks

history of the Aboriginal people of Canada.9 The easiest way to learn something is when you are

How Did Pearl Harbor Change America After Ww2
America before World War Two In the 1930s the United States was suffering from the economic
downturn of the Great Depression. As a result of this inward focus, the citizens of the United
States had no desire to become involved in foreign wars; therefore, the policy of isolationism was
very popular in society ( American Isolationism in the 1930s ).
World War Two Begins
World War 2 started 1939 and ended 1945 and during the war there were two groups fighting each
other the allies and the axis powers. The allies included Britain, France, Australia, Canada, New
Zealand, India, the Soviet Union, China and the United States of America. The axis powers
included Germany, Italy and Japan ( World War II 1939 1945).
Pearl Harbor Changes American Opinion on the War
After the surprise attack by japan on Pearl Harbor the American attitude changed completely. Fear
brushed across the country as a result there was a sense of patriotism that provoked a desire to

Essay on Harriet Tubman and the Abolitionist Movement
When we think of African American history we often forget about the people before the civil

The Development Of Software Defined Radio ( SDR )
Communication technologies have been in constant evolution during the past decades. Amongst
these digital communication is very relevant. The advent of the digital processor enabled us to
perform the complex tasks of communication such as transmission and receiving using a
programmable system. This led to the development of a new radio paradigm called Software
Defined Radio (SDR). I believe that software is increasing replacing hardware due to it s
scalability and cost effectiveness; this idea propelled me to research in this domain. cite{0001}
Software Defined Radio is a type of system which does the process of transmitting and modulation

using the fractional divider between 100.025Mhz and 99.975Mhz, which makes the audio
signal. cite{0002} Future Work: The earlier system devised could be improved by
implementing the following features: Change Frequency: The Raspberry Pi GPIO pin 4 always

his own frequency value from the traditional FM radio spectrum. Support more file formats:
Currently the designed code only supports the .ogg format this is because of it s ease of use in
terms of audio manipulation and its ability of holding meta data. Since most users do not use this
format for their audio files and in order to remove the conversion over head, my future work would
involve providing support for more conventional file formats such as .mp3 and .wav . Further, I
plan to make use of this SDR based transmitter for Cognitive Radio Communications, that is,
developing a dynamic transceiver which can intelligently detect unused channels and broadcast on
the best channel thus avoiding interference. Mobile devices are dealing with an increasingly

for two weeks and took away my brother s life. Being so close to death has not only taught me
that life is so precious, yet fragile, it has also made me realize that this life is not all about me.
Fast forward to today, I still feel thankful for being alive every day and the time I spent in the
hospitalreally helped me realize that it doesn t matter if we can t help everyone, but what does
matter is the people that we were able to help. After I returned to school, I decided to participate
in various volunteer activities to help underprivileged people, a thing that I never was able to
bring myself to do before. It is also when I decided to pursue a career in medicine, hoping that I
might be able to ease the pain of other people.
During the summer after my sophomore year in college, I decided to participate in a program by
the United Nations that provided clinical assistances to a small village, called Tayo in Cambodia.
On the first couple of days, I assisted the doctors with the patient s medical history as well as any
relevant information that might help them with their diagnosis. As I get used to

Aristotle Falling Body
Free fall sets back to the times of the Aristoles. During that time Aristotle had the idea that more
heavier object would fall faster than objects that weigh less. He came up to this conclusion due to
examining a rock, and a feather, and saw how the rock fell faster, While the feather took a longer
time than the rock to hit the ground. After quite sometime, there was a clear explanation that
Aristotle was incorrect with his hypothesis.
As proof, take a basketball and a piece of paper. Drop them simultaneously from the same height...
do they land at the same time? Probably not. Now take that piece of paper and crumple it up into a
tight ball and repeat the experiment. Now what do you see happen? You should see that both the
ball and the paper land at the same time. Therefore you can conclude that Aristotle s predictions did
not account for the effect of air resistance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During that, Galileo realized that air resistance affects the motion from a falling body. Which that
leads to where the idea of him thinking what would happen if the effect of air resistance was
removed. Since Galileo s experiments, scientists have come to a better understanding of how the
gravitational pull of the Earth accelerates free falling bodies. Through experimentation it has been
determined that the local gravitational field strength (g) on the surface of the Earth is 9.8 N/kg,
which further indicates that all objects in free fall (neglecting air resistance) experience an
equivalent acceleration of 9.8 m/s2 toward the center of the

Email Marketing In Travel And Tourism
Analyses results by looking for an e mail marketing service that provides analytics tools, Use
analytics to assess the effectiveness of e mail marketing campaigns (Calculate the ROI) and adjust
them for better results (SBDC, 2010).
Rautanen, (2012) summarize that in general, while searching for alternative marketing and
communication channels that have well established ROI (return of investment) none have come
even close to email marketing. Simply, it is just so easy and cheap to do that even though results
are not totally satisfying it still has better ROI than other channels that can be used.

Experian, (2013) adds that email is a growing source of traffic within the travel industry and
although not as prominent as search, it provides a very different role as a digital channel. Email
presents excellent opportunities to nurture existing customers, to cross sell other travel products,
and to build brand loyalty. One of the keys to unlocking the potential of email marketing in travel
is to understand that the seasonality of email works differently to other digital channels. Moreover,
this provides a great opportunity for marketers in the travel and tourism industry to keep their
brand and services fresh in the minds of their target audience for even longer with some clever
email marketing (Clowes, 2015). Alikilic, (2008) mentions that travel tourism practitioners
introduce email that is one of the most reliable new medium as the ecommerce driver and customer
relationship builder, they also point out that customers still rely on email for their travel and
holiday purchasing information, ideas, news and interactive services. Especially email as a
communication channel is the most effective marketing vehicle for tourism marketers to analyse
real time data at such a deep level. Moreover, email produces the highest response rate for lead
generation of direct mail methods and email is the cheapest way of running a travel campaign. In
addition, Buhalis and Jun, (2011) show that hoteliers and travel firms have gradually matured and
now understand that

Photosynthesis Is Like Photosynthesis
The chloroplast is where photosynthesis takes place.
The entire team is like the chloroplast because photosynthesis is what helps makes the plant grow
and in a team you grow as a whole.
Mitochondria converts energy stored in glucose into adenosine triphosphate for the cell.
Powerade is like mitochondria because Powerade gives energy to the players.
The cell wall protects the plant and gives the plant support.
The field lines are compared to the cell wall because the lines define the boundary of the field and
give the players support when needing to dump a ball out to prevent the other team s victory.
The golgi body packages proteins and carbohydrates into membrane bound vesicles for export from
the cell.

Child Soldiers In Africa
It is approximated that about 40% of all child soldiers are located in Africa, and out of an
estimated 300,000 child soldiers globally, around 250,000 of them are active in Africa.
According to the 2008 Global Report on Child Soldiers by the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child
Soldiers, the LRA has abducted about 25,000 children since the 1980s. (www.accord.org.za) The
percentage of children that are used as soldiers in Africa is shocking. Child soldiers in Africa are
not fighting for the freedom of their country, though. The majority of children recruited as child
soldiers are fighting alongside rebel groups who hope to take control of their country. These
children do whatever the rebels tell them to do, and a failure to comply often results

Reflection Paper On Powerpoint
Learning about PowerPoint has been very stimulating for me; unit five has taught me a lot. I love
to use Microsoft PowerPoint, but until this unit, I did not fully understand how to use all of the
functions in Microsoft PowerPoint. I love the whole unit, so singling out three things will be hard
for me. I work as a Manager, and I am often preparing presentations. The three items in Microsoft
PowerPointthat I know I will apply to my everyday life are, Notes, Numbered list, and Charts. I
think through the whole unit these features were the ones that made me say, ok I will use that
for my upcoming presentation. Below I will explain why I chose each one of these functions.
First, I chose the Notes Function. The note section was a big deal for me. I usually write my
notes down in a notebook before my presentations. The problem I ran into was, I would always
get lost. I tried putting little symbols at the bottom of the page for talking points. The problem
here was, I could never remember what the talking point was about once I got to the symbol.
When I tried Microsoft PowerPoint Notes, I found I was no longer fumbling between papers
(Carlson, 2010). I loved it because I just stood and clicked no more papers. The Notes function
allows you to put information on the slides that you want to share that the audience cannot see
(Wiley Sons Inc, 2014). Notes are now my new Favorite function of the week. Second, The Charts
function is essential and vitally important to my

known and loved by young girls around the world. American Girl dolls are also known
throughout the United States. Both of the dolls are very different and provide a very different
toy. Barbie is known for having a bad reputation of affecting young girls body image standards,
yet Barbie has many benefits that even the American Girl doll does not have. Barbie provides a
better toy than American Girl for girls from 6 to 10, because of the size, pricing and availability, the
message, and her modern style.

Barbie is always in style. She keeps up with the era no matter the style. In the 1970 s Barbie was
all about girl power during the time of sex discrimination in education and athletics. Barbie
showed girl power by participating in numerous sports( History ). Barbie now, not only keeps up
with the current fashion; moreover the technology. Barbie went to the moon, but now she is
going to mars(Chang). Barbie teamed up with NASA to create a Mission Mars Barbie. This
shows that Barbie really does know how to stay in style which is what many young girls want.
American Girl dolls are based off of history. American girl dolls have the historical dress, that is
not as modern and stylish as Barbie s. American Girl dolls are also made to look like a young
girl. In summary, Barbie is more stylish than American Girl dolls, which will appeal to younger
girls. Barbie has changed with the era s styles and technology, providing a more modern girl toy to

The Texas City Oil Refinery Explosion
In 1908, BP was founded under the name Anglo Persian Oil Company. In 1954 they changed
their name to British Petroleum and merged with Amoco in 1998. (BP Public Website, 2010)
The Texas City Refinery is BP s largest and most complex oil refinery... It was owned and
operated by Amoco prior to the merger of BP and Amoco. (Michael P. Broadribb, 2006)
Throughout their history, there have been a number of accidents that have been caused by
negligence and disregard of safety precautions. Unfortunately many lives have been cut short or
seriously injured as a result. My research will focus on the 2005 Texas CityOil Refinery Explosion. I
will attempt to look into the ethical implications that surrounded this disaster before and after the
event and suggest what BP could have done to prevent the incident then and in the future.
What Happened?
On March 23, 2005, at 1:20 pm, the BP TexasCity Refinery suffered one of the worst industrial
disasters in recent U.S. history. Explosions and fires killed 15 people and injured another 180,
alarmed the community, and resulted in financial losses exceeding $1.5 billion. (U.S. Chemical
Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, 2007) There are many small and big decisions and
oversights that led to the incident. Underneath all the specific actions or inaction is a blatant
disregard for addressing safety violations and procedures that had been pointed out to BP even
years before this event. The use of outdated equipment and budget cuts also

  • 2. Current Status Of The Refining Industry Essay The refining industry is a massive global industry that brings in billions of dollars every year. Millions of Americans use gasoline and petroleum products in their daily lives but rarely give much thought to how these fuels get refined, or which states or nations do the majority of the reining. Even fewer people give thought to the impact that the lack of refineries has on oil producing states, and/or oil rich nations. This research paper examines the current status of the refining industry, the domestic and global locations of oil refineries, the impact of the aging domestic refineries, as well as considering if/where the U.S. should build new refineries to keep up with the growing demand. An analytical look into the status of the refining industry reveals that this billion dollar industry is relying on aging refineries, why refineries are located where they are and the impact that not having a refinery has on both oil producing states (in America) and on oil rich nations around the globe. Oil refineries are dispersed throughout the world and throughout the United States, but what makes one location better suited for a refinery than another? Many refineries are located close to crude oil production centers such as the Gulf Coast (which has significant volumes of crude oil produced both onshore and offshore); near destinations for importing crude oil; or near major population centers where much of the refineries output will be needed (e.g., California and the areas near ... • 3. Purpose In The Gospel Of Luke Purpose While there are many more specific purposes in the Gospel of Luke, the overall purpose is a defense of the Christian faith, useful for both evangelism and discipleship. Luke is an eloquent Gospel that provided valuable information about the faith for the believers in the church that are still as applicable today in the twenty first century. A primary purpose in the Gospelof Luke is to tell of the miraculous conception, birth, and childhood of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Luke is the only Gospel (besides Matthew) that focuses on the birth and virginal conception of Christ. The Gospels of Mark and John give no information regarding the conception and birth of Christ; the first mention of Christ in these Gospels is of Christ as a grown man. While Matthew gives account of the visit of the Magi and flight into Egypt that occurred in the earliest years of the life of Christ (Matthew 2:1 23), Luke is ... The Gospel of Luke begins with an introduction, then tells of the foretelling of the birth of John the Baptist to the priest Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth (Luke 1:5 25). Zechariah and Elizabeth were both of an advanced age, and Elizabeth had not yet born children. An angel of the Lord, Gabriel, visited Zechariah to announce that Elizabeth would conceive and bear a son named John, even in her advanced age. Zechariah was in disbelief at Gabriel s words, so Gabriel stated that Zechariah would be unable to speak until the birth of John due to his disbelief. Elizabeth gave birth to a son, John the Baptist, who would later preach and would baptize Jesus Christ. With this information, the market share for one of these companies would be .0017% market share, while the higher end businesses in the pet services industry make $1,000,000+ annually which translates to a .017% market share. I did get a chance to speak to a representative from the PetParadise Resort and Day Spa which said that they make an estimated $70,000 $80,000 per year. Based off this research we can expect to make at least $70,000 a year. Therefore, in five years we should make at least $350,000 and in 10 years 700,000. Juran s philosophy revolved around the customer s perspective, believing that ; higher quality means a greater number of features that meet the customers need, and higher quality consist of fewer defects. Juran is responsible for the management principle of Quality Trilogy . This management ideas identifies three quality principles; quality planning, quality Improvements and quality control (Skymark, 2007) Quality Planning includes identifying who the customers are, determining their needs, translating those needs into a product that can meet those needs and optimizing the product to meet both the customers and the industries needs. • 9. Noah Webster Essay Noah Webster Noah Webster, familiar to most Americans as the writer of the first American dictionary, worked as a schoolteacher in the late eighteenth century. As he taught, he came to realize that there were some major problems with the way English was taught in the American schools. The United States of America had recently declared its independence from England, and was struggling to form its own identity. The schools were still using textbooks from England, and these books varied in consistency when it came to spelling, pronunciation and grammar (Short Summary Website). Although it did not cover a great deal, it laid the foundation for his later dictionaries. It included distinctly American spellings of words and pronunciations. It also supported Webster s belief in democracy. By seeking to standardize the learning of language in American classrooms, he was putting into play a belief that the semantics of a language play a key role in a person s power to create a system of ideas, thus creating a more educated citizen able to participate in a democratic system (Noah Webster s American DictionaryWebsite). This book was revolutionary not only because it sought to Americanize the classroom, but because of the tone of the book. Most previous grammars were prescriptive, meaning that they informed the student how the words should be spoken or spelled. The Blue Backed Speller, on the other hand, was a descriptive work, meaning that it merely showed how words were actually used and pronounced by real speakers of the language (Millward 245). Although the blue backed speller was a great success, it merely provided Webster with a paycheck that enabled him to compile what would be his greatest work: a complete dictionary of the English language that was tailored to the speakers of the United States. Webster wanted a dictionary that was not only easy to use, but wished it to follow the descriptive philosophy that he had begun with his speller. As a result, he streamlined the spellings of many words (Brett Website), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. A Brief Note On Voltage Gated Sodium Channels Abstract Voltage gated sodium channels are fundamental players in animals physiology. By triggering the depolarization of the lipid membrane they enable generation and propagation of the action potential. The involvement of these channels in numerous pathological conditions makes them relevant target for pharmaceutical intervention. Therefore, modulation of sodium conductance via small molecule binding constitutes a promising strategy to treat a large variety of diseases. However, this approach entails significant challenges: voltage gated sodium channels are complex nanomachines and the details of their workings have only recently started to become clear. Here we review ¬¬ with emphasis on the computational studies some of the major milestones in the long standing search of a quantitative microscopic description of the molecular mechanism and modulation of voltage gated sodium channels. Introduction: Physiological Role of Voltage Gated Sodium Channels (VGSCs) Cells respond to stimuli from the environment by enabling the passage of ions across the plasma membrane, a process that results in the propagation of an electrical signal. Ion channels are the key players of this process, the membranes of excitable cells are studded with a myriad of these integral membrane proteins, which transduce chemical and electrical stimuli into currents of charged chemical species (Hille, 2001). Owing to their pivotal role in cell physiology, a large number of genes encode for ion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Determination And Determination Is The Most Important In Life Determination means something different to everyone, to me it means persevering through any and all the obstacles life throws at me. Without any willpower, I d never get anything done, and for that reason, I m glad to say that determination and strength are most important in my life. It serves a role in my current life, as well as it will in my futureto enable me to be the best version of myself. Every day is a new struggle, passing tests, turning in homework, keeping my GPA from tanking, it s almost impossible for me to get through all of this without tenacity. When I m staying up until 2:00 a.m finishing loads of homework and projects, the one thing that keeps me from cuddling up in a warm blanket and passing out, is my determination to finish the work I ve been given. I nurture this human capacity in my day to day life, not only in my schoolwork but in my social life. Like any pair, me and my best friend fight, we ll have friendship droughts , as my mom would say. In spite of all the fighting, I stick with her because I know all the bickering won t last and there will come a day when I ll be glad to have my best friend by my side. However, sometimes we do lose people for good and it s hard to let go of the past and move on into the future. When my grandfather passed away, I felt like I didn t know how to live anymore. I couldn t imagine getting through life without the one person I confided in most, the person that always put a smile on my face. I was grief stricken, and the only thing that allowed me to keep my composure and not fall apart like a brittle vase was my hope that I d make it past this chapter of my life and move on to better things. Hope is what drives us, it s what makes us strong, and enables us to keep on keepin on , as some would say. This determination I ve referenced is what is needed in large amounts for my future job prospects as well. For a while now, I ve dreamt of starting up my own restaurant or maybe becoming a lawyer, both require enormous quantities of mental and emotional strength. For the restaurant, I would have to endure restless nights studying for culinary school, after which I proceed to acquire a building suitable for my business, hire a staff, spend numerous hours ... A story based around the author as a young child and his siblings during a snow day seemed to be a rather strange basis for a story; however, the dark purpose of this story has shed a light on the unnerving reality that sometimes a mother wanted peace a quiet and the only way to achieve it, was to lock her kids out of the house. As the story progresses, it is truly evident that the children may have died if their mother did not come for them. David Sedaris s Let it Snow is an exemplary form of writing that introduces a strong conflict, descriptive character development, and depicts strong emotion. In the beginning of the story the reader is introduced to a mother who was getting fed up that her children had five days off school due to the snow storm that had hit North Carolina. She began to have a small breakdown which led to booting her children into the cold with the words, Get the hell out of my house! (Sedaris) The conflict began to develop after the children were outside for several hours and when they decided that they could come home, they found that the door was locked. How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek culture were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The Flow of History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the language is said to have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened the Linear A language to make it their own, it is known as Linear B. The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared most toward warfare. The peacefulness of the Minoan culture is depicted in their artwork, pottery, as well as their architecture (The Flow of History, 2007). INTRODUCTION During the Hurricane Katrina in 2005, even though the National Weather Service (NWS) had forecasted the storm characteristics information on wind speed, storm surge and rainfall accurately, the local authorities responded inadequately (Kent, 2006; Basher, 2006). The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina pumps a series of discussions on emergency responses in a hurricane hazard (e.g., Basher, 2006; Kent, 2006; Kamarck, 2007; Spencer, 2013). Researches draw their attention to this discussion focused on three questions: (1) who should be in charge (e.g., Kamarck, 2007; Badiru and Racz, 2013; Barnhill, 2013; Cova et al., in press)? According to the Protective Action Decision Model (PADM) by Lindell and Perry (1992; 2004; 2012) which summarized previous researches on public s responses to environmental threats, people would be made aware of a threat by social warnings, social cues, and environmental cues (Huang, Lindell Prater, in press a; Lindell, in press), then assess their risk and identify potentials protective actions (PAs), and ultimately take an appropriate PA (Huang et al., 2012, Huang, Lindell Prater, in press b). Hence, local authorities, on the one hand, have the responsibilities to carry the PARs to the people who are at risk (Basher, 2006; Lindell and Perry, 2012), whereas risk area households response efforts, on the other hand, would rely on the guidance of officials PARs (Baker 1991, 1995; Huang et al. in press a; Lin et al. 2014). However, households response efforts are often limited by their information availability (Chen et al., 2007). Consequently, the failure of the delivery of the appropriate PARs in time would either set those households in danger or push them to follow peers response actions (Huang et al., 2012; Huang, Lindell Prater, in press a; b). It is a significant gap Cova et al. Outline Of Unresponsiveness Considering the high mortality in the intensive care unit in hospitals compared to other units as well as the high costs of inpatient treatment in these units, mortality prediction has long been a concern [3]. In recognition of these problems, various scoring scales have been proposed and validated. However, no score has been used as a gold standard and some are difficult to use [4]. The most commonly used scale is Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) [5]. Lately Full Outline of Unresponsiveness (FOUR) score has been validated and is being used as an alternative to GCS in evaluation of consciousness in severely brain damaged patients [2]. GCS was introduced in 1974 as a method to objectively determine the severity of brain dysfunction and coma six hours after the occurrence of head trauma [1]. It takes into consideration of three parameters, eye opening, verbal response and motor response. It was revised in 1976 with the addition of a sixth point in motor response subscale for withdrawal from pain stimulus [6]. Some things are inherently given such as charm and good looks. There are also qualities than can be learned like the art of being an eloquent speaker or how to be a persuasive speaker. The art of persuasioncan be delicate, you aim is to persuade you audience not to manipulate them. It is very important not to confuse the two. On the one hand you are using facts to convey your point on the other you are attempting to play on the emotions of your audience. By getting your customer to write a review, you are already helping yourself with the next principal of persuasion. Fifth, we have the Principal of Consensus. It is true that people follow the path of least resistance and have a pack mentality. One of the first things people do before they decide to buy a product is to read the customer reviews. If majority of the people like it then it is more likely that they will buy it. Celebrity endorsements and personal testimonials are some of the most effective ways to persuade you audience. This led to the development of a new radio paradigm called Software Defined Radio (SDR). I believe that software is increasing replacing hardware due to it s scalability and cost effectiveness; this idea propelled me to research in this domain. cite{0001} Software Defined Radio is a type of system which does the process of transmitting and modulation of radio waves using non traditional hardware like Raspberry pi with the help of software. With the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case I used one of the cheapest model: Raspberry Pi. The transmitter would transmit on 100MHz and with an output power of 1.5W. Modulation is done by adjusting the frequency using the fractional divider between 100.025Mhz and 99.975Mhz, which makes the audio signal. cite{0002} Future Work: The earlier system devised could be improved by implementing the following features: Change Frequency: The Raspberry Pi GPIO pin 4 always transmits the radio waves at the value of 100MHz. I plan to make it possible for the user to set his own frequency value from the traditional FM radio spectrum. Support more file formats: Currently the designed code only supports the .ogg format this is because of it s ease of use in terms of audio manipulation and its ability of holding meta data. Since most users do not use this format for their audio files and in order to remove the conversion over head, my future work would involve providing support for more conventional file formats such as .mp3 and .wav . Further, I plan to make use of this SDR based transmitter for Cognitive Radio Communications, that is, developing a dynamic transceiver which can intelligently detect unused channels and broadcast on the best channel thus avoiding interference. Mobile devices are dealing with an increasingly complicated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Importance Of Becoming A Doctor Never Crossed My Mind Before college and even after my freshmen year in college, I never valued the importance of helping other people. Back then, I used to think that no matter how hard we try, there will still be people who need our help. And to be honest, the thought of becoming a doctor never crossed my mind, until the car accident that occurred during my sophomore year that put me in a coma for two weeks and took away my brother s life. Being so close to death has not only taught me that life is so precious, yet fragile, it has also made me realize that this life is not all about me. Fast forward to today, I still feel thankful for being alive every day and the time I spent in the hospitalreally helped me realize that it doesn t matter if we can t help everyone, but what does matter is the people that we were able to help. After I returned to school, I decided to participate in various volunteer activities to help underprivileged people, a thing that I never was able to bring myself to do before. It is also when I decided to pursue a career in medicine, hoping that I might be able to ease the pain of other people. During the summer after my sophomore year in college, I decided to participate in a program by the United Nations that provided clinical assistances to a small village, called Tayo in Cambodia. On the first couple of days, I assisted the doctors with the patient s medical history as well as any relevant information that might help them with their diagnosis. As I get used to ... • 41. Aristotle Falling Body Free fall sets back to the times of the Aristoles. During that time Aristotle had the idea that more heavier object would fall faster than objects that weigh less. He came up to this conclusion due to examining a rock, and a feather, and saw how the rock fell faster, While the feather took a longer time than the rock to hit the ground. After quite sometime, there was a clear explanation that Aristotle was incorrect with his hypothesis. As proof, take a basketball and a piece of paper. Drop them simultaneously from the same height... do they land at the same time? Probably not. Now take that piece of paper and crumple it up into a tight ball and repeat the experiment. Now what do you see happen? You should see that both the ball and the paper land at the same time. Therefore you can conclude that Aristotle s predictions did not account for the effect of air resistance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During that, Galileo realized that air resistance affects the motion from a falling body. Which that leads to where the idea of him thinking what would happen if the effect of air resistance was removed. Since Galileo s experiments, scientists have come to a better understanding of how the gravitational pull of the Earth accelerates free falling bodies. Through experimentation it has been determined that the local gravitational field strength (g) on the surface of the Earth is 9.8 N/kg, which further indicates that all objects in free fall (neglecting air resistance) experience an equivalent acceleration of 9.8 m/s2 toward the center of the ... Email Marketing In Travel And Tourism Analyses results by looking for an e mail marketing service that provides analytics tools, Use analytics to assess the effectiveness of e mail marketing campaigns (Calculate the ROI) and adjust them for better results (SBDC, 2010). Rautanen, (2012) summarize that in general, while searching for alternative marketing and communication channels that have well established ROI (return of investment) none have come even close to email marketing. Simply, it is just so easy and cheap to do that even though results are not totally satisfying it still has better ROI than other channels that can be used. 2. Experian, (2013) adds that email is a growing source of traffic within the travel industry and although not as prominent as search, it provides a very different role as a digital channel. Email presents excellent opportunities to nurture existing customers, to cross sell other travel products, and to build brand loyalty. One of the keys to unlocking the potential of email marketing in travel is to understand that the seasonality of email works differently to other digital channels. Moreover, this provides a great opportunity for marketers in the travel and tourism industry to keep their brand and services fresh in the minds of their target audience for even longer with some clever email marketing (Clowes, 2015). Alikilic, (2008) mentions that travel tourism practitioners introduce email that is one of the most reliable new medium as the ecommerce driver and customer relationship builder, they also point out that customers still rely on email for their travel and holiday purchasing information, ideas, news and interactive services. Especially email as a communication channel is the most effective marketing vehicle for tourism marketers to analyse real time data at such a deep level. Moreover, email produces the highest response rate for lead generation of direct mail methods and email is the cheapest way of running a travel campaign. • 46. Reflection Paper On Powerpoint Learning about PowerPoint has been very stimulating for me; unit five has taught me a lot. I love to use Microsoft PowerPoint, but until this unit, I did not fully understand how to use all of the functions in Microsoft PowerPoint. I love the whole unit, so singling out three things will be hard for me. I work as a Manager, and I am often preparing presentations. The three items in Microsoft PowerPointthat I know I will apply to my everyday life are, Notes, Numbered list, and Charts. I think through the whole unit these features were the ones that made me say, ok I will use that for my upcoming presentation. Below I will explain why I chose each one of these functions. First, I chose the Notes Function. The note section was a big deal for me. I usually write my notes down in a notebook before my presentations. The problem I ran into was, I would always get lost. I tried putting little symbols at the bottom of the page for talking points. The problem here was, I could never remember what the talking point was about once I got to the symbol. When I tried Microsoft PowerPoint Notes, I found I was no longer fumbling between papers (Carlson, 2010). I loved it because I just stood and clicked no more papers. The Notes function allows you to put information on the slides that you want to share that the audience cannot see (Wiley Sons Inc, 2014). Notes are now my new Favorite function of the week. Second, The Charts function is essential and vitally important to my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately many lives have been cut short or seriously injured as a result. My research will focus on the 2005 Texas CityOil Refinery Explosion. I will attempt to look into the ethical implications that surrounded this disaster before and after the event and suggest what BP could have done to prevent the incident then and in the future. What Happened? On March 23, 2005, at 1:20 pm, the BP TexasCity Refinery suffered one of the worst industrial disasters in recent U.S. history. Explosions and fires killed 15 people and injured another 180, alarmed the community, and resulted in financial losses exceeding $1.5 billion. (U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, 2007) There are many small and big decisions and oversights that led to the incident.
