Tattoos In Jap The Tattos Are Discrimination In Japan
Irezumi
In Japan, the world can be written in diverse ways, but each with them have closely
different meanings. Irezumi, Horimono, and Shise all can represent the tattoo in
Japan. However, most of Japanese skin artists prefer the English word tattoo to
irezumi. The reason is not because the tattoos are considered to be unclean, but rather
they represent an identification or identity the association with the deviant
subculture. Therefore, as that reason having tattoos in Japan are considered
controversy.
For finding out why tattoos are discriminated in Japan, first people need to know how
the word irezumi originated from. Back to 1910, one of the well known Japanese
litterateur, Tanizaki, publicized a short story which named The Tattooer in English.
In the story, a gigantic spider was inscribed by a tattoo artist on a beautiful and young
woman s body. Since then, the woman s beauty takes a demonic and compelling
power and irezumi also takes a deep impression for Japanese.
The creation of the word of irezumi is just a beginning of the controversy. During
the Edo period, the city in Japan had a large population, and the crime rate followed
up. So, the government of Japanese began to punish the criminals by marking ink on
their bodies. Japanese authorities will according to the level of crime and the severity
of sentencing in the criminals arm, wrist, forehead or facial tattooed in a prominent
position. This action is named irezumi kei, with kei referring to penalty,

The Importance of Nutrition and Sleeping Habits In The Classroom
Having good nutrition and sleeping habits is very important for education. It is
important for children and adolescents to perform well in the classroom so that they
get the most out of their education. Having poor sleeping habits or poor eating habits
can have many harmful effects on a child s classroom performance. If children have
good eating habits as well as good sleeping habits they will perform better and be
able to live up to their potential.
Good nutrition is very important for children in all areas of their life but it is a key
factor in how they perform in the classroom. One study showed that taller more

School meals are now being made healthier so that children can practice good
nutrition skills.
Children of all socioeconomic levels are at risk for poor nutrition. Some children
do not get enough to eat each day because their families lack money to buy
sufficient food. Other children consume enough food but have diets high in fat,
sugar, and sodium that put them at risk for obesity or heart disease and other
chronic illnesses ( ). These poor diets can harm a child s classroom performance and
impede their learning ability. Poor nutrition among children in America is on the rise.
This is due, in part, to poor eating habits like skipping meals, overeating, working
parents eating on the run, and fast food establishments ( ). These factors not only
cause a child health problems but also impedes their learning. If a child cannot use his
cognitive abilities to the fullest it will be harder to learn, participate in class, and
function properly throughout the day. Inadequate nutrition affects the long term
development of the child ( ). This could be detrimental to a child all the way into
adulthood. Poor eating habits could persist into college and then hinder them from
being as productive as they could
How Does Nancy Reagan Impact On Society
Nancy Reagan made an impact on our society, so large that the impact is still
lasting today. She is a very special person because of her determination not to give

When Nancy moved to the White House, she brought new china set. Even though
she brought it with private donations, many criticized her for doing this. Another
impact Nancy made is Foster Grandparents . In this, she introduces older people
with kids with disabilities. She said It s one of the best programs I ve ever seen
because it benefits both sides: children, who need love and grandparents, and
elderly people, who need to feel wanted. Nancy displayed many IB profiles in her
lifetime, one being caring. She was very caring to most of the people she met. Nancy
showed how caring she was when she cared for the welfare of wounded soldiers from
the Vietnam War while she was First Lady of California. She was also very caring
to her husband because she acted like Ronald Reagan s bodyguard. She did this
because she was very worried after his assassination attempt. His assassination attempt

Forced Pooling Essay
How would you feel if you were expecting to get a $5000 check in the mail for
selling the mineral rights under your 10 acre property and then after the company
starts drilling, making $60 a day (Based off of Blackbeard Data.com) but then you
get a call saying the deal is off? Well, this is exactly what has been happening to the
considerable amount of people across the country. The reason being that rarely is a
pool of minerals under just one individual s property, but usually under 10 to 20 sets
of property and each set of property could be owned by 5 or more people. This
means that 19 or more land owner s rights can be (and have been in several cases)
held hostage because one person doesn t want to lease the rights to the minerals under
their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one person out of twenty makes the claim they are being forced to sell their
mineral rights and they say it is unconstitutional, but the nineteen other people s
rights are taken if they are told they can t sell their mineral rights. It becomes clear
very soon that someone will have their rights taken away, the question becomes
who? In one scenario one person loses their rights but all twenty people receive a
large compensation for the minerals under their property. In the second scenario,
nineteen people lose their property and also denied a tremendous sum of money
for the minerals they could produce. In a perfect world no one would ever have to
lose their rights but regrettably, we don t live in a perfect world so someone will
have to forfeit their right. Due to this, we have to look at what is the greatest good
society as a whole, everyone involved in the transaction would benefit from forced
pooling but no one would be any better off without it. This may seem like a very
nationalistic approach and something our founding fathers would have been against
but if we look close at constitutional laws we see this example in Imminent Domain.
Now these two ideas are fundamentally different but are both founded on the idea that
what benefits society, benefits the individual too. In other words, forced pooling isn t
the overstepping federal government looking out for big business, but instead a
watchdog that seeks to protect the rights of its
Langston Hughes, An American Born Writer During The
Harlem...
Langston Hughes was an American born writer during the Harlem Renaissance era.
His work shed light on issues that white Americans turned their backs to. Racism and
segregations was, at one time, a very large issue in our country. Hughes addressed
that issue throughout poetry and in doing so, became the most popular writer of his
time. He opened the eyes of many, while accurately portraying African American
culture in such a way that everyone couldn t respect. The passion that Hughes had for
his topics is easily identified in his poems. A great majority of his poems relate back
to African American customs, struggles, heritage, and music. For that reason, Hughes
became listed among the greatest versatile writers of his time. Langston Hughes
supported equally then, and today his work is remembered as such. Mother to Son,
is the first poem that I read by Hughes. Just by the title alone, I knew that this work
was going to be heavy. Throughout the story, Hughes mother references crystal
stairs, stating that life for me ain t been no crystal stairs. The stairs that she is
referring to would be the stairs that lead to equality and freedom. She also states that
the stairs she took were splintered and torn up. To me, that symbolizes slavery and
the troubles she endured throughout her life thus far. Knowing that, the term crystal
stairs then becomes a bit easier to grasp. White people are given the crystal stairs,
meaning that their path is smooth and paved. Where as blacks of

complete destruction. The Huguenots attacked properties such as churches and
assaulted priests. On the other hand, Catholics directly attacked the Huguenots
through methods of stoning and interruptions of worship. Leading up to The St.
Bartholomew s Day Massacre, tension was already high between the Huguenots and
the Catholics. Massacres took place throughout France and the three religious wars
showed no sign of an end to the violence. In hopes to gain power over the Protestants,
Queen Catherine de Medici organized a marriage between her daughter, the king s
sister, Marguerite of Valois and The Protestant Prince Henry of Navarre. This alliance

The Glass Castle Character Analysis
In The Glass Castle , pages 62 121, some of the characters have an experience that
makes them undergo a change in character. While it is not too noticeable, if you dig
deep into the text you can see how the characters are affected, and possibly make
some predictions of how this is later relevant to the story. Some of the predictions
and assumptions may not be totally accurate, but are made based on evidence from
the story. Jeanette, Brian, and Lori all go through a transformation after they each
experienced some sort of distressing event. The first transformative event happens to
Jeanette in the hot pool. Jeanette s father is trying to teach her how to swim by
throwing her into the deep water and telling her to sink or swim. When she... Show

The next transformative event happens to Brian. Brian was intrigued by The Green
Lantern since it was a place his parents had always warned them about. Brian was
dared to go talk to the woman on the porch, with whom he became smitten with.
After this event, it can be inferred that Brian started distrusting what his parents had
to say since he didn t have a bad experience. Later on his birthday, Brian learns the
truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with
Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad
and Ginger came out, she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept
staring at the comic book, even though he d already read it all the way through
twice. I think that this is implying that Brian knew what they were doing since he
read it twice. I believe he read it multiple times to distract him from what was going
on in the other room. Afterwards, his father makes him give the comic book to
Ginger which makes Brian angry. Brian loses his only source of sanity during that
moment. I think the comic book was a symbol Brian s innocence and he was holding
onto it until his father made him give it up. The comic book was with him and helped
him get through the traumatic experience in the hotel which could be another reason
he was so angry to let it go. In addition, Jeanette hints at Brian knowing what they did
since he knows that the women make
I Had Someone Who We Are All A Product Of Our
Environment
Recently I had someone say to me, we don t know who we are because we are all a
product of our environment. That said, the question remains: Are we defined by
our environment and merely a product of it, or we posses the ability to make
decisions despite it? The age old question of who am I kept stirring in my mind. It
got me thinking about how I define myself and how the environment that I grew up
in has shaped me. My first thought was Wait a minute I know who I am, I think? So
I made a list of the obvious; wife, mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, niece, etc.
Looking at that list I realized that those labels were just words used to define my
relationships to other people.
I have never really thought about the labels that define my relationships they are just
words. I seldom thought about how the culture or environment I grew up in affected
me or my relationships to others. I took these things for granted. Can we control the
environment we re born into? Are we supposed to somehow see beyond the culture
we were raised in; The culture that compels us to act, live and think in certain ways?
As a young girl living in the 1960 s era women lived and defined themselves by their
marriage or birth to a man. As a woman you could not open a bank account without
your husband s co signature. You could not start a business without your husband s
permission and a signature. Most of the woman that did work were teachers, nurses,
or secretaries. Women accounted for six
Selflessness In New Orleans
When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in late August of 2005, it not only
destroyed the city, but unraveled the ties that held the society together. Tens of
thousands of people were forced out of their homes, bound to find a means of
survival on their own. Relationships they had previously formed, social constants
they had grown accustomed to were thrown out of the window, and laws became
irrelevant. Within a matter of days, everything they had known was destroyed, and it
became the survival of the fittest and the wealthiest. While this broken society
brought out the inner hero in some people, it brought out the chaos and lawlessness
in others. Some embraced selflessness and saved hundreds of people, while others
turned to looting, shooting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They took what they needed, like diapers, clothes, fishing poles, and clothes, and
went about their day. When interviewed, several people admitted that it was a life
or death situation, and chose to steal in order to live. However, there was a small
group of people who were stealing luxury items like TVs, computers, and other
electronics. Usually, this group of people was proud of what they had managed to
steal, bragging about their success. Also in the videos, there were two black police
officers still in uniform walking around Wal Mart and filling their cart. They refused
to answer questions about their actions, but rather said that they were just patrolling
the scene. When they were directly asked about why they had items in their shopping
cart, they adamantly refused that they were looting. These two women did not show
shame or pride, but rather refused to acknowledge their
Esther s Role And Power In The Book Of Esther
Esther. I will soon be becoming a bat Mitzah and when I enter adulthood I inspire
to be like Esther. For hundreds of years Esther s has been seen as a heroine, but not
due to her bravery or cunning actions, but for the way she followed orders. She has
been seen as a woman who follows the patriarchal system and a womanwhose only
power was her beauty. However, many people have overlooked the great courage,
heroism and intelligence that Estherpossess. Despite Esther not being recognized for
her bravery, these actions are highly relevant to young Jewish woman today as
Esther s characteristics can inspire young women to be fearless and stand up for what
they believe.
In the Book of Esther, Esther s role and power in the saving of the Jews is
undervalued. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This interpretation is seen through the way in which the author has used Esther to
show the ideology of gender and power. This is emphasised in the text through the
way in which Esther embodies the patriarchal values through her beauty and
obedience (Hancock, 2012). This belief existed largely in the Tanaka, as the first
book states that men were created first and women second, which set up a
patriarchal view for the rest of the books. From this setup, many scholars say that
although the book of Esther is named after the primary female character, it is told
by a man s world, but also for a man s world. That these are not stories of women,
but stories of female role models determined and fostered by the strongly
developed patriarchal ideology. (Fuch, 1999 ). Through the way in which Esther
embodies these values, she is seen as a woman who can only follow order. Many
scholars state that Queen Esther remains bound to the decrees of men... She has no
influence to bring to bear on this state of affairs for herself or for other women, due
to her blindness about her situation as a woman; at the single moment when power
is concentrated in her feminine hand, she hands it all over to Mordecai (Wyler,
1995). Through this Esther is not seen as a role model as she doesn t stand up against
the patriarchal

Competition, efficiency, and stability in banking
1.0 Introduction
1.1. Background of the study
Management of credit risk in financial institutions is a core concern for policy
makers, practitioners, and regulators, particularly from the start of the fiscal crisis. A
singled out driving force of financial unsteadiness is too much competition in the
financial sector. As a result, special attention has been received since the beginning of
the financial crisis (Sealey Lindley, p.2009). Interested stakeholders have produced
studies that investigate the relationship between competition, efficiency, and stability.
The academic writing is yet to arrive at an agreement over these conflicting
narratives. However, recent theory and proof are pointing towards a positive outcome
of competition on bank stability (Schaeck Cih?k, 2013, p.111). On the contrary,
conventional literature stipulates that growing competition erodes character values
that eventually yield a negative trade off between competition, efficiency, and
stability in the banking sector.
This research will, therefore, revisit the debate empirically, and bring up the question
of mechanisms that makes competition contribute to bank stability as stated in recent
studies. In spite of its significance for policy and regulation, the mechanism of
transmission has remained an
Meiji Reforms Essay
Evaluate the success of the Meiji Reforms in undertaking imperialism in Asia. The
Meiji reforms were significantly successful in undertaking imperialism in Asia.
Imperialism can be understood as expanding a country s power through increasing
one s influence, gaining more territory and controlling the region s economy. For
japan to undertake imperialism in Asia they needed to establish a centralised
government, a strong military, a technologically advanced and unified nation working
together for the same goal. They achieved this by introducing the Meji reforms. From
1868 to 1912, Japan grew from a technologically backwards nation to a world power,
defeating both China and Russia swiftly and decisively. In addition to this, Japan had
succeeded in establishing a parliament, drafting a constitution, developed a strong
legal, financial and economic system, created a strong industry and improved social
welfare and education standards. These improvements and implementations made
Japan internationally recognised and respected as a modernised country. Looking
back, we can identify numerous reasons that led to the success of undertaking
imperialism in Asia through the use of the Meiji reforms. The military reform had a
significant role in undertaking imperialism in Asia. The military reform of Meiji
Japan was focused on establishing a powerful and unified national military under the
ultimate leadership of the emperor. To achieve this, the Meiji government created
equality among

a number of positive heroes and charismatic anti heroes, such as Darth Vader(Anakin

and can be described as the typical Byronic characters. Highly ambitious Anakin

personages is the non conformist attitude to the social standards. Therefore, the
Byronic hero deviates from the typical personages, embracing the unique combination
of the positive and negative character traits. Such
How Did Hannibal Dominate The Roman Army
Hannibal Barca was a man bred for war. His ability to command a battlefield was
unmatched during his day. During the Second Punic War, Hannibal led the
Carthaginian army against the Roman Republic. He would march through Italy
destroying the Roman legions battle after battle. His victories at Trebia and
Trasimene were just preludes to the massacre that he would conduct in Southern
Italy, at the Battle of Cannae. Rome had the best military of its time. They troops
were drafted each year and any land owning citizen could be picked. Every man
was trained in the art of war, to be ruthless and efficient on the battlefield. They were
trained with pilum and gladus to kill their enemies. They fought in what is known
has a Maniple Legion. Maniples were the small formations that made up the bigger
battle lines. These smaller organizations trained together and became a coherent part
of the Roman lines. The Roman camps were laid out so that the Maniples camped in
the same order that they line for battle. And this powerhouse of a military had to main

While the Romans advanced they first met the Carthaginian center led by Hannibal.
The Gauls and Spanish put up a fight then started backing away. This lured the
Romans to focus directly on the center. While the Carthaginian center was
collapsing, their cavalry was gaining ground. Hasdrubal, Hannibal s brother, was
leading the cavalry on the Carthaginian left. He led his force to obliterate the
Roman cavalry on the Roman right wing by the river. This freed him up to sweep
behind the cavalry on the Roman left and help the Numidian cavalry to dispatch the
remaining Roman cavalry. In one fell swoop, Hasdrubal had knocked out all of the
Roman cavalry. The Roman army no longer had protection on their

throughout the whole film. Chris is having a hard time forgiving his parents for
their cruelties and punishes them by leaving them, and everything they believe in.
The two year long journey is filled with anger and resentment, which is clearly
reflected in the deliberate lack of contact with the family. Throughout the journey
Chris does not show signs of missing the parents. Instead Chris blames his father
for his own lack of capabilities for example when Chris shoots the moose, and he
struggles with the fire, he thinks back to the time where his father would not let
him help with the barbecue. However, the end is ambiguous. When Chris realizes
that happiness is only true when shared, he decides to go back to civilization. To the
audience, it seems unclear whether he wants to go back to his family because he has
forgiven them or he wants to go back to the people he has met along the

The only thing we can do is to make sure that we are not transporting quagga
mussels. Boat owners need to clean, drain, and dry their boats or have them
professionally decontaminated. During the summer, self cleaned boats need to dry
for 7 days before entering another body of water. The fall and spring
recommendation is 18 days, and 30 days in the winters (or 3 days in below freezing
temperatures.) Several states are already taking action against quagga infestations.
Idaho, for example, has boat inspection stations set up at almost every major road
entering into the state. Laws require that boaters must stop at one of these stations on
their way to recreational waters. Utah, in conjunction with Idaho, spends $2.6 million
per year to contain quagga mussels. To put this amount in perspective, that is the
same amount the United States government spends on presidential vacations alone!
Since 2009, when Idaho launched its inspection program, nearly 300,000 boats have
been inspected. Over 200 of those boats were contaminated with over 400 labeled as

College Football Is Better Than High School Football
What comes to mind when you think of a college football player? They were the
best one their team in high school. They are headed toward the National Football
League. They must have worked really hard in high school to be where they are.
High school football is easy, because if you are good then you have so much more
fun playing the game. In high school, there is homecoming, powderpuff, and senior
night that gives everyone something to remember. College football there s about
one hundred players that are just as good or better than you so that brings in the
competition. Although college football is harder than high school football, there is
more competition, intensity, and rigorous plays; high school football is more
enjoyable. Having that many players on your football team is overwhelming at
first, but you get used to it after a while. Being an athlete, you always want to be the
best on the field at all times. That is just a college football players mentality. When
they are put into a situation where everyone is better than them; that makes them
work harder to be better. When that all comes together it makes the team better on
both sides of the ball. With everyone coming together, that creates competition and
grudges towards the players. Having that grudge make a college player jealous about
the starting position. They tend to start doing more and more everyday to earn that
starting spot and to get on the travel squad. In high school, there was not that much
competition, so it was pretty much set in stone that the starters were going to start
the whole season. That also creates competition. Although there is competition in
high school football, some players quit caring about the sport and end up not
coming out for the team in the future. In college that does not happen, because the
players are on a scholarship to be their and they do not want to lose that scholarship.
That makes everyone work hard and that is why college football practices are so
intense; because everyone is there for a reason. When you think about intensity, what
comes to mind? Adrenaline rushing, excitement everywhere. That is what a college
practice is all about. Everyone is highly concentrated in every drill and play that has

security breaches, you could have been one of them. Does that change how you

will have a greater chance of improving their quality of life.
The second research article covered a screening tool for Diabetics. This tool would
be a great way for nurses to do a quick 60 second screening to detect the high risk

to start doing even before they start to have symptoms. This way if symptoms do
Fear Of Power Research Paper
A Fear of Power I m like everybody is sitting in the park, like they are watching to
see if I m doing my job, if am actually working.... As far as I m concerned you guys
[my group and I] are spies too... The aforementioned comments are from Dawn, a
white female in her third month of a six month employment program, a green shirt
wearing park worker. Our group met Dawn while she was sweeping along the
outer western park sidewalk along with her more timid coworkers. Why does
Dawn think that a group of college students are spies? The green shirt park workers
are employees of New York City. Their duty is to clean and maintain the park and its
facilities (NYC Parks). However, many parkgoers fear the workers of Washington

Prior to observing the workers and parkgoers and before my interview with Dawn,
I was fairly certain that I was going to see the workers, enforcing strict rules and
discriminating against various individuals. My hypothesis was blatantly wrong.
The park workers duties varied tremendously based on their level and status. Dawn
for example is towards the bottom of the workers totem pole. She is a green shirt
worker. As I previously explained, her primary responsibilities are to clean and
maintain the park. However, her supervisors, the button down shirts have more
power. They are there to supervise Dawn and her contemporaries, but also they
represent an authority within the park. However, the ladder of power continues to
expand. The park rangers, who are dressed in a complete uniform and equipped
with a badge, have complete power. They supervise all official park events and a
park goer does not want to be on the receiving end of a lecture form a park ranger,
nor do the fellow employees. However, as always in the system of power, the New
York City police are still at the top of the power structure. They can come and go
whenever they choose, and when they are in the park, the illicit activities seem

Argumentative Essay On Transgenic Cats
Despite the societal discord that exists around the ethics of genetic modification,
certain genetically modified organisms (GMOs) undoubtedly offer incredible
opportunities for the advancement of medicine. In particular, transgenic domestic
cats have contributed to the generation of biomedical models of humandiseases over
the past several years. What have come to be known as glow in the dark cats are
actually cats whose somatic cells have been injected with fluorescent proteins via
transgenesis. Efficient techniques are indeed needed for introducing transgenes into a
living organism so that it will express a certain new trait and subsequently transmit
that trait to its offspring. The introduction of exogenous genes into living organisms
has the potential to treat, cure, and prevent diseases because it allows for the
manipulation of the organism s genomic structure.

John Steinbeck: Literary Journalist It s no secret that John Steinbeck was a formable
figure in world of the written word. His created fictions have been cemented into

participation in this field has overarching effects on his fictional writing styles that
produced some of the most prolific narratives works of the past century. His style
boasted to be at its base the most honest form of writing. Pioneering a new frontier of
journalism, Steinbeck entered an arena of that many authors have not considered.
Taking the role as a literary journalist, Steinbeck adopted unique techniques in order
to find the most authentic and frank stories, covering a variety of important issues, as
well as using the same journalistic narrative structure to his fictional works.
Journalism is the art of communicating to the world of the world in the most truthful
and honest manner possible. There are many ways a writer can approach this
objective stylistically. The most common form of presenting the news is through the
inverted pyramid writing style. This is done by covering the upmost important facts

Obstacles in life are really challenges and choices that we make, placed there to
help us grow as a person. The obstacles, and how you deal with them, help to mold

Every year, regardless of religion or cultural beliefs, people around the world get
super excited with the coming of the New Year. The year 2018 was no exception,
the streets were filled with excitement and the world celebrated and welcomed the
New Year with fireworks, parties, dancing, delicious foods and parades. However,
before welcoming the New Yearmany people took the time to observe El AГ±o
Viejo. El AГ±o Viejo is a very popular year end tradition, which is celebrated in
Colombia, Ecuador, Cuba, Puerto Rico and other countries in Latin America. This
particular tradition calls for members of the community to come together and
celebrate their many accomplishments as well as to reflecting and letting go of their
failures.
The tradition of the AГ±o Viejo is very particular in that members of the
community are required to reflect on their accomplishments and failures
throughout the year and are called to set obligatory resolutions for change. The
obligatory resolutions are therefore set and made public on the eve of December
31st before the welcoming of the New Year. Moreover, the AГ±o Viejo tradition
calls for members of society to be thankful for all the blessings acquired throughout
the year. In Latin America, there is a very popular song that is the trademark of el

Eliminating Religion from Daily Life with the...
During the revolutionary era in France, in which the National Convention took
control of revolutionary France, a new calendar was adopted. This revolutionary
calendar was implemented in November of 1793, in an attempt to replace the
Gregorian calendar completely. The National Convention adopted a new calendar in
France at the time of a revolution in an attempt to increase the number of work days
on peasants and reduce the influence of Christianity throughout the country; however
most of the general public as well as government officials reacted negatively. One
major reason as of why the revolutionary calendar was put into effect was in order to
eliminate religion from daily life. The traditional Gregorian calendarwas originally...

However because this article was written under Napoleon I, and from the
perspective of people who did not agree with the calendar the article may be very
biased. Another reason for the adoption of a new calendar is that the government
did not want religion to determine the lives of the French people. According to
Pierre Joseph, the Jacobins were attempting to rid France of religion and the old
order by replacing it with Deism (Document eight). With the incorporation of
deism into everyday life people could focus more on reason, being less influenced
by religion. However, because Pierre Joseph was a Girondin he was very opposed
to the views of the Jocobins, so of course he believed the removal of religion from
French society to have negative impacts. Less religious aspects in everyday life
would allow the French people to be more productive by reducing their time to
worship, in turn giving them more time to work. The revolutionary calendar sought
out to improving productivity among the peasantry. The National Conventionstated
that the Gregorian calendar had too many religious holidays. One of the complaints
in the Cahier de Doleances included the limitation on the number of religious
holidays so that the so called great people were no longer a disadvantage to the state
(Document one). In order to make the French people more productive there needed to

Autonomic Pathway
The autonomic pathways, which consist of nerves, ganglia and plexuses, form a
reflex arc between efferent pathways, which ultimately depend on afferent sensory
feedback from the visceral sensory division. While each somatic efferent pathway
consists of one neuron, which stretches from the cell body in the spinal cord (anterior
gray horn) to the muscle, each autonomic efferent pathway consists of two neurons:
the preganglionic neuron, which conducts impulses from the brainor spinal cord to the
ganglion, and postganglionic neuron, which conducts impulses from the ganglion to
the effector.
The preganglionic fibres are myelinated and project out of the cord via the ventral
root. From there they split away from other nerve fibres to extend through ... Show

These supply the abdominal and pelvic organs (Thibodeau and Patton, 2007, pg.
533). The arrangement of the major autonomic pathways is shown in Figure 1.2.
Sympathetic preganglionic neurons have their cell bodies within the spinal cord
(lateral gray horns) in thoracic and lumbar (T1 to L2) segments of the spinal cord,
and for this reason they are called the thoracolumbar division. The cell bodies of the
preganglionic neurons of the parasympathetic division have their cell bodies at the
brainstem in the four pairs of cranial nerves: oculomotor (III), facial(VII),
glossopharyngeal (IX) and vagus (X), and the sacral segments of the spinal cord, and
for these reasons are known as craniosacral division. At least 75% of all
parasympathetic preganglionic fibers travel in the vagus nerve (X) before synapsing
with postganglionic fibers to innervate the effectors (the lungs, heart, liver stomach,
spleen, pancreas, small and large intestine). Although they have different pathways,
most of the effectors are dually innervated from both the sympathetic
andparasympathetic division. For example, sympathethic nerve stimulation of the
heart increases therate and strength of contraction, whereas parasympathetic
stimulation decreases heart rate andstrength of contraction. The sympathetic impulses
tend to stimulate activity and

Generally Chinese curries are severed over rice. Chinese curry is tends to be
watery unlike other Asian curries. It is believed that curry was introduced to China
from Singapore or Malaysia. China s most popular curry dish is curry noodles or

What may be surprised to know is that Japanese Curry is one of the most popular
dishes in Japan. Curry was introduced to Japan by the British, around 1868, after
Japan ended its policy of isolation. Japan s Army and Navy can be contributed to
spreading the popularity of curry. The army and navy adopted it extensively as
convenient field and naval canteen cooking. The Japan Maritime Self Defense
Force traditionally has curry every Friday for lunch. Ships may have their own
unique recipe, but Kare Raisu is a typical canteen style dish that would be served
and is made up of a brown curry sauce with raisins, generally served with rice.
Curry seasoning is commonly sold in the form of a condensed brick that dissolves
into the mixture of meat and vegetables. This form of curry can be found in many
U.S. grocery stores. The standard curry found in Japan contains onions, carrots,
potatoes and a meat that is cooked in a large pot. Japanese curry is more of a stew
like consistency. Pork and beef are the most popular meats in curry followed by
Chicken. In northern and Eastern Japan you tend to see more pork based curry. Beef
is more common in western Japan.
The Double Helix Essay
Over break I decided to read The Double Helix by James D. Watson. This book was
a fascinating memoir on the discovery of the double helix from the point of view
by James Watson. I found his story fascinating due to the fact that in science
classes we only see the discovery of what has happened. We never get to learn their
story to how this discoveries were uncovered. This is the reason I believe that
Watson wrote the story; to enlighten readers on the not so scientific pieces of a
scientific discovery. The reader can see many different aspects of Watson s life:
such as relationships, how the discovery had impacted his life, and the time he
spends in the lab. Firstly, lets take a look at some of Watson s relationships. The first

So when I read that this wasn t the entire truth; I was a little shocked. This memoir
is enlightening in the fact that it contradicts most of how the media portrays
scientists, and like most people throughout the rest of the world, I believed this is
what being a scientist was really like. Although, contrary to popular belief, this is
not what is displayed by Watson. When they discover the double helix it showed a
picture of Watson and Crick in a brightly lit lab sitting at desks. This completely
changed my view of what being a scientist ment. When it mentioned them working
together in the lab thats not what I had pictured at all. There is also a lot of work
that he had done with other scientists in other labs. Like when he went to see
Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins in their lab to discuss what they thought on
what they had found in the x ray lab. I had never really considered the fact that
scientists collaborated. As I said, I thought they just stayed in their lab and rarely
went outside. Although, working with Franklin was probably one of the largest
contributing factors to the discovery of the double helix. Now thinking back it makes
sense for scientists to collaborate because then they can get the insight from another
scientist on the same
Density Lab Report Essay
Abstract
In Measuring and Understanding Density, several experiments were performed to
find density of regularly shaped objects, irregularly shaped objects, liquids and
gasses. An additional experiment was done to find the specific gravity of a sampling
of liquids. The purpose of the experiment was to provide a better understanding of
density and to be able to extrapolate unknowns based upon these calculations. The
experiments yielded data in keeping with Kinetic molecular theory in regards to the
density of water versus its temperature. Key measurements and formulae were also
used to determine densities of metal and plastic objects as well as irregularly shaped
rocks. It is possible to find the density of an object (be it liquid, gas or ... Show more

With volume and mass determined, the density formula (d = m/V) was used to
determine the densities of each rock and recorded in g/ml. In the third stage of this
experiment, the density of a liquid was determined and compared to known
standards. A 100ml beaker was filled to about half full with room temperature
distilled water. The temperature of the water in в—¦C was recorded in order to
compare to known standards later. A 50ml beaker was then weighed on a scale in
order to determine mass and recorded. A sample of the distilled water with an exact
volume of 10ml was then placed in the 50ml beaker using a volumetric pipette. The
50ml beaker with the 10ml of water was then weighed again and the initial mass of
the beaker was subtracted from this mass to obtain the mass of the 10ml of water.
With the volume and the mass of the water now known, density was calculated
using d = m/V and recorded in g/ml. This process was then repeated to check for
precision and compared to standard values to check for accuracy. Standard values
were obtained from CRC Handbook, 88th Ed. In the fourth stage of this experiment,
the density of a gas was determined. A 250ml flask was weighed with an empty
rubber balloon and the mass was recorded.

Point of view: The story of Santiago is told through an omniscient third person point

point from Santiago to the other accompanying characters from time to time to
change the pace and then switches back to Santiago. This style makes for a good

One of the best things about this global network of computers is that no one person

with network switches and routers. In fact the very name of it is derived from
interconnected networks. Some of these nodes have special programs to enable other
client nodes to connect to it and exchange information with it. These computers,
known as servers, can host any sort of information to exchange. Some host e mail,

Why Are Pharmaceutical Companies Unethical
Pharmaceutical companies market their product in a variety of ways. It can be
anything from simple pamphlets to actually taking doctors out to dinners to persuade
them. An enormous amount of money is spent on this marketing could go to other
things, but it is instead used to influence people. It becomes less about the treating a
condition and more about making a profit. It even gets to the point where
pharmaceutical companies target the uneducated public and try to manipulate them.
Pharmaceutical companies have turned prescriptions into more of a way to make a
larger profit rather than a means to help people.
The means by which pharmaceutical companies are at best questionable and at worst
unethical. The amount of money that is spent on the marketing of pharmaceuticals is
greater than what goes into research to. About $29.9 billion is spent every year on
marketing by American pharmaceutical companies while nine out of ten companies
spend less than what they spend on marketing on research. That money could be far
better distributed to be able to help people rather than using it to manipulate health
care professionals and patients into using their products. Research grants can be very
difficult for researchers to get and a lot of that money could go ... Show more content

good, but there can be downsides. A great example of this would be

that that is the medication or treatment for them, even if that is not the
My Love Of Dance
As a child I was very active. Participating in gymnastics, dance, soccer, and
volleyball. This was a very enjoyable time in my life. School was not very difficult
considering I was only in grade school. My greatest passion was dance. At this point
in my life I had been dancing for six years. Dancing was something I took pride in.
Getting the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of people excited me.
This love of dance started when I was three. My mother had brought me to the Ozark
Dance Academy. I can remember exactly how i felt. Remind you I was roughly three
foot and everyone had already formed partners. I couldn t even see over the bar. We
all know that the short quiet one is always left alone. My teacher Mrs. Julie had
grabbed my hand, walked me to the middle of the floor, and whispered into my ear
dance like you are the only one here. The music clicked on, heart pounding in my
ears, I started to dance. I feel like everyone was slightly impressed. Moving to the
music with all of this passion made me feel like I was dancing on air. All of my
nerves went away. Later that day after my class had ended Mrs. Julie walked me over
to my mom and said something I will never forget. Why don t we put her into basic
point? I Grace Van Helden, only being three was about to be in a class with five and

Being in this environment made me happy. Everyone no matter their background

Difference Between Abraham Maslow And Carbraham
Maslow
INTRODUCTION Carl Ransom Rogers was an American psychologist. He was
one of the founders of the Humanistic approach to psychology. He was born on
January 8, 1902. His father was a civil engineer while his mother was a
homemaker. He had five siblings and he was the fourth one. Originally, he planned
to study agriculture at the University of Wisconsin Madison, with an undergraduate
focus on history and religion. In school, his interests shifted away from agriculture
and toward religion. After receiving his bachelor s degree in 1924, he entered a
liberal Protestant seminary in New York City. Rogers spent two years in seminary
before transferring to Columbia University Teachers College. He received his master
s in 1928 and a Ph.D. in clinical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maslow fully acknowledges the self actualization of individuals to their very self.
However, Rogers does not credit the individual only for self actualization but
emphasize the necessity of the environment especially through genuineness, and
acceptance of others that result in a condition for growth. For the fully functioning
person, Dr. Salvatore R. Maddi said that the maladjusted person is the polar
opposite of the fully functioning individual. The maladjusted individual is
defensive, maintains rather than enhances his or her life, lives according to a
preconceived plan, feels manipulated rather than free, and is common and
conforming rather than creative. The fully functioning person, in contrast, is
completely defence free, open to experience, creative and able to live a good life.
Congruence is when you are all of a piece , when how you are feeling on the inside
matches what you are presenting on the outside. Whether you are congruently agreed
or disagreed, you are fully committed to what you are doing. Incongruence is a
signal of an out of awareness conflict when there is a difference between what is
actually happening inside you and how you are presenting yourself to the world. It is
fundamental for many presenting symptoms and unresolved
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles ( Uav )
Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), are pilotless and non
crewed aircraft that are capable of flight either by remote control or through the
use of on board computers. Other names for these types of aircraft are remotely
piloted vehicle (RPV), remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), and remotely operated
aircraft (ROA). Drones are commonly used by the military, but are also being
implemented in search and rescue operations and being utilized in other civil
applications, such as policing and firefighting. The technology is also allowing for
hobbyists and other enthusiasts to become avid drone operators, albeit on a
relatively smaller scale. During the American Civil War, an inventor patented an
unmanned balloon that carried explosives that could be dropped after a time delay
fuse mechanism triggered the basket to overturn its contents. Air currents and
weather patterns made it difficult to estimate for how long to set the fuse, and the
balloon was never successfully deployed. By 1883, the first aerial photograph was
taken using a kite, a camera and a very long string attached to the shutter release of
the camera. In 1898, this technology was put to use in the Spanish American War,
resulting in the first military aerial reconnaissance photos. World War I saw the
development and testing of various radio controlled unmanned aircraft, but none
emerged from the testing phase in time to be used before the war ended. In the¬

Free Cash Flow, Issuance Costs, and Macroeconomics Risk
Abstract
This research proposal develops a dynamic framework analyzing the impact of
macroeconomic conditions on dividend policy, equity issuance policy, stockprices
and agency costs of free cash ow. I begin by observing that both equity issuance
and agency costs both depend on the aggregate state of economy. However, the
existing literature is silent on the stock price dynamics and agency costs of free
cash ow in the presence of macroeconomics risk, issuance and agency costs. I then
describe the expected results: (1) Characterizing the rm s optimal equity issuance
and dividend pay out policies in dierent regimes; (2) Study on the stock price and
asymmetric volatility under the optimal cash management policies in the presence
of macroeconomic risk; (3) The model would probably predict free cash ow
problem is more severe in expansion regime than that in contraction regime. A
literature review is added to talk about the prior research in the related areas. I also
analyze the rst best benchmark case where
Eva Quote De Peron
Eva Duarte Peron (Evita) Thesis: Her experience as a member of the lower class
who overcame poverty and her belief in bringing justice to the poor made
everything that she did for the people of Argentina possible. Eva Peron Mi vida
por Peron! ( My life for Peron! ) [Evita] cried a thousand times before the roaring
crowds, and then she died. There are parallels that could be drawn between her life
and the lives of other obsessively ambitious women who have forced their way
through poverty and fame.but instead popular memory finds parallels between Evita
s life and the lives of the saints, because she did it all for someone else.

She also continued her work in the Secretariat for no salary. Her only earnings
were the love and affection from Peron and the Argentine people (Peron 125). On
June 19, 1948, Evita founded the Maria Eva Duarte de Peron Foundation, or EPF.
This foundation was created to provide national safety where the government was
weak (To Be II). The Foundation s work was necessary in the lower class areas of
the country, rather than in the cities. Eva believed that the descamisados were the
base, the foundation, of the revolution. They were an essential part of the country s
people (Peron 80). The Social Help Crusade created housing and neighborhoods
that were affordable for the poor. The crusade also created jobs for the
unemployed and school food programs. It provided inexpensive hospital supplies
and free medication. Workers unions donated many of these materials. Evita began
The Eva Peron Hospital Train, which provided free check ups, vaccinations, x rays,
and general medical care to people who either did not have access to hospitals or
who could not afford a visit to the doctor (To Be II). Twelve hospitals and two
policlinicos (hospitals for the railroad workers) were built with the same objective as
the Hospital Train. These hospitals attracted the best doctor in the country, and the

Irezumi, Horimono, and Shise all can represent the tattoo in Japan. However, most of Japanese skin artists prefer the English word tattoo to irezumi. The reason is not because the tattoos are considered to be unclean, but rather they represent an identification or identity the association with the deviant subculture. Therefore, as that reason having tattoos in Japan are considered controversy. For finding out why tattoos are discriminated in Japan, first people need to know how the word irezumi originated from. Back to 1910, one of the well known Japanese litterateur, Tanizaki, publicized a short story which named The Tattooer in English. In the story, a gigantic spider was inscribed by a tattoo artist on a beautiful and young woman s body. Since then, the woman s beauty takes a demonic and compelling power and irezumi also takes a deep impression for Japanese. The creation of the word of irezumi is just a beginning of the controversy. During the Edo period, the city in Japan had a large population, and the crime rate followed up. So, the government of Japanese began to punish the criminals by marking ink on their bodies. Japanese authorities will according to the level of crime and the severity of sentencing in the criminals arm, wrist, forehead or facial tattooed in a prominent position. This action is named irezumi kei, with kei referring to penalty,

The Importance of Nutrition and Sleeping Habits In The Classroom Having good nutrition and sleeping habits is very important for education. It is important for children and adolescents to perform well in the classroom so that they get the most out of their education. Having poor sleeping habits or poor eating habits can have many harmful effects on a child s classroom performance. If children have good eating habits as well as good sleeping habits they will perform better and be able to live up to their potential. School meals are now being made healthier so that children can practice good nutrition skills. Children of all socioeconomic levels are at risk for poor nutrition. Some children do not get enough to eat each day because their families lack money to buy sufficient food. Other children consume enough food but have diets high in fat, sugar, and sodium that put them at risk for obesity or heart disease and other chronic illnesses ( ). These poor diets can harm a child s classroom performance and impede their learning ability. Poor nutrition among children in America is on the rise. This is due, in part, to poor eating habits like skipping meals, overeating, working parents eating on the run, and fast food establishments ( ). These factors not only cause a child health problems but also impedes their learning. If a child cannot use his cognitive abilities to the fullest it will be harder to learn, participate in class, and function properly throughout the day. Inadequate nutrition affects the long term development of the child ( ). This could be detrimental to a child all the way into adulthood. Poor eating habits could persist into college and then hinder them from being as productive as they could

  • 5. Forced Pooling Essay How would you feel if you were expecting to get a $5000 check in the mail for selling the mineral rights under your 10 acre property and then after the company starts drilling, making $60 a day (Based off of Blackbeard Data.com) but then you get a call saying the deal is off? Well, this is exactly what has been happening to the considerable amount of people across the country. The reason being that rarely is a pool of minerals under just one individual s property, but usually under 10 to 20 sets of property and each set of property could be owned by 5 or more people. This means that 19 or more land owner s rights can be (and have been in several cases) held hostage because one person doesn t want to lease the rights to the minerals under their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one person out of twenty makes the claim they are being forced to sell their mineral rights and they say it is unconstitutional, but the nineteen other people s rights are taken if they are told they can t sell their mineral rights. It becomes clear very soon that someone will have their rights taken away, the question becomes who? In one scenario one person loses their rights but all twenty people receive a large compensation for the minerals under their property. In the second scenario, nineteen people lose their property and also denied a tremendous sum of money for the minerals they could produce. In a perfect world no one would ever have to lose their rights but regrettably, we don t live in a perfect world so someone will have to forfeit their right. Due to this, we have to look at what is the greatest good society as a whole, everyone involved in the transaction would benefit from forced pooling but no one would be any better off without it. This may seem like a very nationalistic approach and something our founding fathers would have been against but if we look close at constitutional laws we see this example in Imminent Domain. Now these two ideas are fundamentally different but are both founded on the idea that what benefits society, benefits the individual too. In other words, forced pooling isn t the overstepping federal government looking out for big business, but instead a watchdog that seeks to protect the rights of its
  • 6. Langston Hughes, An American Born Writer During The Harlem... Langston Hughes was an American born writer during the Harlem Renaissance era. His work shed light on issues that white Americans turned their backs to. Racism and segregations was, at one time, a very large issue in our country. Hughes addressed that issue throughout poetry and in doing so, became the most popular writer of his time. He opened the eyes of many, while accurately portraying African American culture in such a way that everyone couldn t respect. The passion that Hughes had for his topics is easily identified in his poems. A great majority of his poems relate back to African American customs, struggles, heritage, and music. For that reason, Hughes became listed among the greatest versatile writers of his time. Langston Hughes supported equally then, and today his work is remembered as such. Mother to Son, is the first poem that I read by Hughes. Just by the title alone, I knew that this work was going to be heavy. Throughout the story, Hughes mother references crystal stairs, stating that life for me ain t been no crystal stairs. The stairs that she is referring to would be the stairs that lead to equality and freedom. She also states that the stairs she took were splintered and torn up. To me, that symbolizes slavery and the troubles she endured throughout her life thus far. Knowing that, the term crystal stairs then becomes a bit easier to grasp. White people are given the crystal stairs, meaning that their path is smooth and paved. Where as blacks of

Some of the predictions and assumptions may not be totally accurate, but are made based on evidence from the story. Brian was dared to go talk to the woman on the porch, with whom he became smitten with. After this event, it can be inferred that Brian started distrusting what his parents had to say since he didn t have a bad experience. Later on his birthday, Brian learns the truth about the women at The Green Lantern. His dad takes him to a hotel with Ginger where they assumingly have sex while Brian is outside. Later, when Dad and Ginger came out, she sat down next to Brian. He didn t look up. He kept staring at the comic book, even though he d already read it all the way through twice. I think that this is implying that Brian knew what they were doing since he read it twice. I believe he read it multiple times to distract him from what was going on in the other room. Afterwards, his father makes him give the comic book to Ginger which makes Brian angry. Brian loses his only source of sanity during that moment. I think the comic book was a symbol Brian s innocence and he was holding onto it until his father made him give it up. The comic book was with him and helped him get through the traumatic experience in the hotel which could be another reason he was so angry to let it go. In addition, Jeanette hints at Brian knowing what they did since he knows that the women make

That said, the question remains: Are we defined by our environment and merely a product of it, or we posses the ability to make decisions despite it? The age old question of who am I kept stirring in my mind. It got me thinking about how I define myself and how the environment that I grew up in has shaped me. My first thought was Wait a minute I know who I am, I think? So I made a list of the obvious; wife, mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, niece, etc. Looking at that list I realized that those labels were just words used to define my relationships to other people. I have never really thought about the labels that define my relationships they are just words. I seldom thought about how the culture or environment I grew up in affected me or my relationships to others. I took these things for granted. Can we control the environment we re born into? Are we supposed to somehow see beyond the culture we were raised in; The culture that compels us to act, live and think in certain ways? As a young girl living in the 1960 s era women lived and defined themselves by their marriage or birth to a man. As a woman you could not open a bank account without your husband s co signature. • 10. Selflessness In New Orleans When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in late August of 2005, it not only destroyed the city, but unraveled the ties that held the society together. Tens of thousands of people were forced out of their homes, bound to find a means of survival on their own. Relationships they had previously formed, social constants they had grown accustomed to were thrown out of the window, and laws became irrelevant. Within a matter of days, everything they had known was destroyed, and it became the survival of the fittest and the wealthiest. While this broken society brought out the inner hero in some people, it brought out the chaos and lawlessness in others. • 11. Esther s Role And Power In The Book Of Esther Esther. I will soon be becoming a bat Mitzah and when I enter adulthood I inspire to be like Esther. For hundreds of years Esther s has been seen as a heroine, but not due to her bravery or cunning actions, but for the way she followed orders. She has been seen as a woman who follows the patriarchal system and a womanwhose only power was her beauty. However, many people have overlooked the great courage, heroism and intelligence that Estherpossess. Despite Esther not being recognized for her bravery, these actions are highly relevant to young Jewish woman today as Esther s characteristics can inspire young women to be fearless and stand up for what they believe. In the Book of Esther, Esther s role and power in the saving of the Jews is undervalued. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This interpretation is seen through the way in which the author has used Esther to show the ideology of gender and power. This is emphasised in the text through the way in which Esther embodies the patriarchal values through her beauty and obedience (Hancock, 2012). This belief existed largely in the Tanaka, as the first book states that men were created first and women second, which set up a patriarchal view for the rest of the books. From this setup, many scholars say that although the book of Esther is named after the primary female character, it is told by a man s world, but also for a man s world. That these are not stories of women, but stories of female role models determined and fostered by the strongly developed patriarchal ideology. (Fuch, 1999 ). Through the way in which Esther embodies these values, she is seen as a woman who can only follow order. Many scholars state that Queen Esther remains bound to the decrees of men... She has no influence to bring to bear on this state of affairs for herself or for other women, due to her blindness about her situation as a woman; at the single moment when power is concentrated in her feminine hand, she hands it all over to Mordecai (Wyler, 1995). Through this Esther is not seen as a role model as she doesn t stand up against the patriarchal
  • 12. Competition, Efficiency, And Stability Competition, Efficiency, and Stability in Banking 6 Competition, efficiency, and stability in banking By: Professor: Competition, efficiency, and stability in banking 1.0 Introduction 1.1. Background of the study Management of credit risk in financial institutions is a core concern for policy makers, practitioners, and regulators, particularly from the start of the fiscal crisis. A singled out driving force of financial unsteadiness is too much competition in the financial sector. As a result, special attention has been received since the beginning of the financial crisis (Sealey Lindley, p.2009). Interested stakeholders have produced studies that investigate the relationship between competition, efficiency, and stability. The academic writing is yet to arrive at an agreement over these conflicting narratives. However, recent theory and proof are pointing towards a positive outcome of competition on bank stability (Schaeck Cih?k, 2013, p.111). On the contrary, conventional literature stipulates that growing competition erodes character values that eventually yield a negative trade off between competition, efficiency, and stability in the banking sector. This research will, therefore, revisit the debate empirically, and bring up the question of mechanisms that makes competition contribute to bank stability as stated in recent studies. In spite of its significance for policy and regulation, the mechanism of transmission has remained an
  • 13. Meiji Reforms Essay Evaluate the success of the Meiji Reforms in undertaking imperialism in Asia. The Meiji reforms were significantly successful in undertaking imperialism in Asia. Imperialism can be understood as expanding a country s power through increasing one s influence, gaining more territory and controlling the region s economy. For japan to undertake imperialism in Asia they needed to establish a centralised government, a strong military, a technologically advanced and unified nation working together for the same goal. They achieved this by introducing the Meji reforms. From 1868 to 1912, Japan grew from a technologically backwards nation to a world power, defeating both China and Russia swiftly and decisively. In addition to this, Japan had succeeded in establishing a parliament, drafting a constitution, developed a strong legal, financial and economic system, created a strong industry and improved social welfare and education standards. These improvements and implementations made Japan internationally recognised and respected as a modernised country. Looking back, we can identify numerous reasons that led to the success of undertaking imperialism in Asia through the use of the Meiji reforms. The military reform had a significant role in undertaking imperialism in Asia. The military reform of Meiji Japan was focused on establishing a powerful and unified national military under the ultimate leadership of the emperor. To achieve this, the Meiji government created equality among

The main characteristic of these personages is the non conformist attitude to the social standards. Therefore, the Byronic hero deviates from the typical personages, embracing the unique combination of the positive and negative character traits. Such

The fall and spring recommendation is 18 days, and 30 days in the winters (or 3 days in below freezing temperatures.) Several states are already taking action against quagga infestations. Idaho, for example, has boat inspection stations set up at almost every major road entering into the state. • 18. College Football Is Better Than High School Football What comes to mind when you think of a college football player? They were the best one their team in high school. They are headed toward the National Football League. They must have worked really hard in high school to be where they are. High school football is easy, because if you are good then you have so much more fun playing the game. In high school, there is homecoming, powderpuff, and senior night that gives everyone something to remember. College football there s about one hundred players that are just as good or better than you so that brings in the competition. Although college football is harder than high school football, there is more competition, intensity, and rigorous plays; high school football is more enjoyable. Having that many players on your football team is overwhelming at first, but you get used to it after a while. Being an athlete, you always want to be the best on the field at all times. That is just a college football players mentality. When they are put into a situation where everyone is better than them; that makes them work harder to be better. When that all comes together it makes the team better on both sides of the ball. With everyone coming together, that creates competition and grudges towards the players. Having that grudge make a college player jealous about the starting position. They tend to start doing more and more everyday to earn that starting spot and to get on the travel squad. In high school, there was not that much competition, so it was pretty much set in stone that the starters were going to start the whole season. That also creates competition. Although there is competition in high school football, some players quit caring about the sport and end up not coming out for the team in the future. In college that does not happen, because the players are on a scholarship to be their and they do not want to lose that scholarship. That makes everyone work hard and that is why college football practices are so intense; because everyone is there for a reason. When you think about intensity, what comes to mind? Adrenaline rushing, excitement everywhere. That is what a college practice is all about. Everyone is highly concentrated in every drill and play that has been

However because this article was written under Napoleon I, and from the perspective of people who did not agree with the calendar the article may be very biased. Another reason for the adoption of a new calendar is that the government did not want religion to determine the lives of the French people. According to Pierre Joseph, the Jacobins were attempting to rid France of religion and the old order by replacing it with Deism (Document eight). With the incorporation of deism into everyday life people could focus more on reason, being less influenced by religion. However, because Pierre Joseph was a Girondin he was very opposed to the views of the Jocobins, so of course he believed the removal of religion from French society to have negative impacts. Less religious aspects in everyday life would allow the French people to be more productive by reducing their time to worship, in turn giving them more time to work. While each somatic efferent pathway consists of one neuron, which stretches from the cell body in the spinal cord (anterior gray horn) to the muscle, each autonomic efferent pathway consists of two neurons: the preganglionic neuron, which conducts impulses from the brainor spinal cord to the ganglion, and postganglionic neuron, which conducts impulses from the ganglion to the effector. The preganglionic fibres are myelinated and project out of the cord via the ventral root. From there they split away from other nerve fibres to extend through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These supply the abdominal and pelvic organs (Thibodeau and Patton, 2007, pg. 533). The arrangement of the major autonomic pathways is shown in Figure 1.2. Sympathetic preganglionic neurons have their cell bodies within the spinal cord (lateral gray horns) in thoracic and lumbar (T1 to L2) segments of the spinal cord, and for this reason they are called the thoracolumbar division. The cell bodies of the preganglionic neurons of the parasympathetic division have their cell bodies at the brainstem in the four pairs of cranial nerves: oculomotor (III), facial(VII), glossopharyngeal (IX) and vagus (X), and the sacral segments of the spinal cord, and for these reasons are known as craniosacral division. At least 75% of all parasympathetic preganglionic fibers travel in the vagus nerve (X) before synapsing with postganglionic fibers to innervate the effectors (the lungs, heart, liver stomach, spleen, pancreas, small and large intestine). Although they have different pathways, most of the effectors are dually innervated from both the sympathetic andparasympathetic division. For example, sympathethic nerve stimulation of the heart increases therate and strength of contraction, whereas parasympathetic stimulation decreases heart rate andstrength of contraction. The sympathetic impulses tend to stimulate activity and

Curry was introduced to Japan by the British, around 1868, after Japan ended its policy of isolation. Japan s Army and Navy can be contributed to spreading the popularity of curry. The army and navy adopted it extensively as convenient field and naval canteen cooking. The Japan Maritime Self Defense Force traditionally has curry every Friday for lunch. Ships may have their own unique recipe, but Kare Raisu is a typical canteen style dish that would be served and is made up of a brown curry sauce with raisins, generally served with rice. Curry seasoning is commonly sold in the form of a condensed brick that dissolves into the mixture of meat and vegetables. This form of curry can be found in many U.S. grocery stores. The standard curry found in Japan contains onions, carrots, potatoes and a meat that is cooked in a large pot. Japanese curry is more of a stew like consistency. • 33. The Double Helix Essay Over break I decided to read The Double Helix by James D. Watson. This book was a fascinating memoir on the discovery of the double helix from the point of view by James Watson. I found his story fascinating due to the fact that in science classes we only see the discovery of what has happened. We never get to learn their story to how this discoveries were uncovered. This is the reason I believe that Watson wrote the story; to enlighten readers on the not so scientific pieces of a scientific discovery. The reader can see many different aspects of Watson s life: such as relationships, how the discovery had impacted his life, and the time he spends in the lab. Firstly, lets take a look at some of Watson s relationships. The first aspect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So when I read that this wasn t the entire truth; I was a little shocked. This memoir is enlightening in the fact that it contradicts most of how the media portrays scientists, and like most people throughout the rest of the world, I believed this is what being a scientist was really like. Although, contrary to popular belief, this is not what is displayed by Watson. When they discover the double helix it showed a picture of Watson and Crick in a brightly lit lab sitting at desks. This completely changed my view of what being a scientist ment. When it mentioned them working together in the lab thats not what I had pictured at all. There is also a lot of work that he had done with other scientists in other labs. Like when he went to see Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins in their lab to discuss what they thought on what they had found in the x ray lab. I had never really considered the fact that scientists collaborated. As I said, I thought they just stayed in their lab and rarely went outside. Although, working with Franklin was probably one of the largest contributing factors to the discovery of the double helix. Now thinking back it makes sense for scientists to collaborate because then they can get the insight from another scientist on the same
  • 34. Density Lab Report Essay Abstract In Measuring and Understanding Density, several experiments were performed to find density of regularly shaped objects, irregularly shaped objects, liquids and gasses. An additional experiment was done to find the specific gravity of a sampling of liquids. The purpose of the experiment was to provide a better understanding of density and to be able to extrapolate unknowns based upon these calculations. The experiments yielded data in keeping with Kinetic molecular theory in regards to the density of water versus its temperature. Key measurements and formulae were also used to determine densities of metal and plastic objects as well as irregularly shaped rocks. It is possible to find the density of an object (be it liquid, gas or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With volume and mass determined, the density formula (d = m/V) was used to determine the densities of each rock and recorded in g/ml. In the third stage of this experiment, the density of a liquid was determined and compared to known standards. A 100ml beaker was filled to about half full with room temperature distilled water. The temperature of the water in в—¦C was recorded in order to compare to known standards later. A 50ml beaker was then weighed on a scale in order to determine mass and recorded. A sample of the distilled water with an exact volume of 10ml was then placed in the 50ml beaker using a volumetric pipette. The 50ml beaker with the 10ml of water was then weighed again and the initial mass of the beaker was subtracted from this mass to obtain the mass of the 10ml of water. With the volume and the mass of the water now known, density was calculated using d = m/V and recorded in g/ml. This process was then repeated to check for precision and compared to standard values to check for accuracy. Standard values were obtained from CRC Handbook, 88th Ed. In the fourth stage of this experiment, the density of a gas was determined. A 250ml flask was weighed with an empty rubber balloon and the mass was recorded.

For the fully functioning person, Dr. Salvatore R. Maddi said that the maladjusted person is the polar opposite of the fully functioning individual. The maladjusted individual is defensive, maintains rather than enhances his or her life, lives according to a preconceived plan, feels manipulated rather than free, and is common and conforming rather than creative. The fully functioning person, in contrast, is completely defence free, open to experience, creative and able to live a good life. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles ( Uav ) Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), are pilotless and non crewed aircraft that are capable of flight either by remote control or through the use of on board computers. Other names for these types of aircraft are remotely piloted vehicle (RPV), remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), and remotely operated aircraft (ROA). Drones are commonly used by the military, but are also being implemented in search and rescue operations and being utilized in other civil applications, such as policing and firefighting. The technology is also allowing for hobbyists and other enthusiasts to become avid drone operators, albeit on a relatively smaller scale. During the American Civil War, an inventor patented an unmanned balloon that carried explosives that could be dropped after a time delay fuse mechanism triggered the basket to overturn its contents. Air currents and weather patterns made it difficult to estimate for how long to set the fuse, and the balloon was never successfully deployed. By 1883, the first aerial photograph was taken using a kite, a camera and a very long string attached to the shutter release of the camera. In 1898, this technology was put to use in the Spanish American War, resulting in the first military aerial reconnaissance photos. World War I saw the development and testing of various radio controlled unmanned aircraft, but none emerged from the testing phase in time to be used before the war ended. I begin by observing that both equity issuance and agency costs both depend on the aggregate state of economy. However, the existing literature is silent on the stock price dynamics and agency costs of free cash ow in the presence of macroeconomics risk, issuance and agency costs. I then describe the expected results: (1) Characterizing the rm s optimal equity issuance and dividend pay out policies in dierent regimes; (2) Study on the stock price and asymmetric volatility under the optimal cash management policies in the presence of macroeconomic risk; (3) The model would probably predict free cash ow problem is more severe in expansion regime than that in contraction regime.
