Slavery And The American Revolution Essay
Slavery originated as early as the 1600 s when Britain shipped 3.1 million Africans to British owned
colonies in the Caribbean. The new idea of slavery brought controversial ideals and created a
historical movement that effected even the peoples of today. Slavery is a form of manipulation that
was excused as a conscious way to provide economic growth in Caribbean and European colonies. It
then revolutionized itself into a much bigger issue; many didn t anticipate it could also revolutionize
the world. The Haitian Revolution of 1759 evoked a social change that transformed the Caribbean
countries, Cuba and Haiti, while slowly expanding the idea of the abolition of slavery. Through
traumatic social events, slavery was justified as a way to sustain economics while it simultaneously
harmed the lives of the enslaved.
During the years of 1700 1830 s the slaves took part in a series of revolts. Seeing as it was unethical to
enslave humans, they demanded their rights and wanted to end their cruel forms of labor. Many slaves,
knowing the risk, took part in Tacky s rebellion in 1760s in Jamaica, the Haitian Revolution of 1789,

Pregnancy And Its Effects On Children
abortion annually (Negedu, 2011). pregnancies are either mistimed or unwanted among adolescents.
Studies in the past have Indicated that, lack of adequate sexual and reproductive health knowledge
may possibly represent a key factor preventing the complete elimination of unwanted pregnancies, and
unsafe induced abortion among adolescent girls in Nigeria. According to Ipas(2005) unplanned
pregnancies are the result of various factors, including lack of knowledge about menstruation and
pregnancy, lack of access to, and knowledge about how to use contraceptives; difficulties in using
contraceptives because of a partner s or family objections; contraceptive failure; and sexual assault.
Also, adolescents may more often delay seeking care for abortion related complications due to lack of
transportation, lack of knowledge about where post abortion care can be obtained, fears of censure
from their parents and health care providers, fear of legal repercussions, or lack of money to pay for
services (Ipas, 2005). This may be particularly so in rural communities where access to basic in

Martin Luther s Influence On Catholicism
For a long time Catholicism was the dominant religion. If you were not a catholic then you did not go
to church, or at least church with a lot of people. Then came a man named Martin Luther. Martin
threw a curveball in the Catholic Church s plan. He pointed out the indulgences being sold by the
Roman Catholic church to fund new buildings and new things for the pope and bishops to have.
Lutheranism is a religion based off of Catholicism with changes done by Martin Luther, a German
Monk and Theologian, he made his points with the 95 theses, and it exposed all the flaws with the
catholic church. Martin Luther was born November 10, 1483 to Hans and Margethe Luther in
Eisleben, Germany. His Father Hans was a copper mine owner. At age 17, the ... Show more content

The ELS was formed in 1918. They have about 21,000 members in the church today. They are a very
conservative lutheran church. They are with the WELS in fellowship, because of their similar beliefs.
The CLC also know as the Church of Lutheran Confession, was formed in 1963. The Church was
formed because of a break up of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America,
due to a disagreement about the church principles. The CLC believes that the bible is the only thing
you can look to for religion. The Lutheran Church as a whole has over 72 million members today. As
far as demographics go 71% of that 72 million are white. 8 million of the 72 are in America. In
America the largest clusters of Lutherans are in the Midwest and in the South. In the ELCA the North
Carolina Synod is the 3rd largest Synod within the ELCA.
Catholicism differs from Lutheranism with two main flaws. The flaws that existed back in the 1500s
still exist today. The first is how is one saved and be able to enter heaven? The Lutherans believe that
the scripture tells us our fate. A good quote from the bible that Lutherans use a lot is Romans 3:28
which states we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the

The Russian Annexation Of Crimea
Introduction
This research paper aims to address issues relating primarily to the Russian annexation of Crimea in
2014. Annexation in itself brings forth an array of issues under international law, and the problem this

valid in terms of international law, as well as analysing the arguments brought forward by Russia in
defence of its actions leading up to the annexation of the Crimean territory. Aspects relating to the use
of force principle will be critically discussed, as well as issues relating to infringement of state
sovereignty.

territory in terms of international law. Theories of acquisition of territory will be assessed as well as
their current standing under international law. Methods of acquiring territory will be addressed, and
the issues relating to the methods utilised by Russia in their annexation of the Crimean territory will
be analysed and a discussion will ensue as to whether there is any validity in these arguments under
international law with regard to annexation.

Debate on Columbus Day Essay
To change Columbus Day to no longer be a holiday would be turning a blind eye to a difficult history,
yet still turning that eye away from a history with a side to be celebrated. I instead ask of you to
celebrate Columbus Day, learn the full history, including the wrong doings of Columbus and his crew,
and celebrate the good change brought about by this event that ultimately led to the lifestyle you lead
today. If the wrongs of every event in history were to be scrutinized would we have a history left to
celebrate? Think of the reasons why we celebrate a moment in history, and then think why we have
not excluded that from our celebrations. I believe it is to celebrate the good times and the bad and to

Even when we look at something in a holiday that isn t negative, like the Christmas tree, which there
aren t conifers in Jerusalem, it shows how much our holidays can be skewed from a tradition which
was originally practiced. Even the other holidays honoring great men can have a darker side. MLK
day for example; Martin Luther King, or Michael Luther King, was under scrutiny because his
doctorate had blatant plagiarism, also his I Have a Dream speech was plagiarized from a pastor from
his church he attended. This shows that history and the light we view people in can be skewed to
retain the honor or the pomp and circumstance that comes with remembering the good brought about
by their achievements.
Beyond the fact that Columbus was not the first person to discover the Americas, he was the man that
brought about European civilization to America and their fascination with conquering a new world.
His wrong doings, which include, letting his crew rape, pillage and plunder the Bahamas, should not
outweigh the good that coming to America brought for us as Americans who, without European
influence may not have progressed quite as far or in the circumstances we did. As with the Colombian
exchange that was brought about by Columbus venture to the Americas it is a box of good and evil.

Research Paper On Mad Cow Disease
Mad cow disease is a deadly disease caused by prions in the brains of cattle. The real name of this
disease is bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Abnormal prions are usually found in the brain
tissue of many diseased cattle and they transmit the infection. Many changes are seen in the brain of
infected cattle. Infection can lead to small holes in parts of the brain, giving the tissue a sponge like
appearance when viewed with a microscope. These small holes cause slow decline in a cow s brain
and eventually other symptoms develop affecting the whole body. The cows then die.
If humans eat diseased cows, they can develop the human form of mad cow disease known as

Death By Neil Degrasse Tyson Analysis
By reading the book Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries, one can deduce that the
author, Neil deGrasse Tyson, is man of intelligence with a love for the ways of the universe. He
clearly has a passion for what he does, as he immerses himself in his personal interests by giving
public lectures about the cosmos (346). He values his personal interest so much that he has solved
how long it would take to cook a 16 inch pepperoni pizza on Venus; the answer is seven seconds (80).
Tyson obviously has a strong enthusiasm for what he does as an astrophysicist and has spent many
years in this field. Throughout the book, he explains concepts in ways that the reader is able to
understand and relate to. He uses simple topics to help explain our complex universe. For example, he
introduces the idea of a constant and uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader learns more about Tyson through the chapter Holy Wars, in which he explains his beliefs
on God and religion. While the author does not indicate that he is an atheist, the reader is drawn to the
conclusion that he does not believe in God. He states that if the Bible had ever been shown to be a rich
source of scientific answers and understanding, [scientists] would be mining it daily for cosmic
discovery (352). This statement evidently states that the Bible holds no valuable information with
regards to the universal laws and ideas. On the last page of the book, Tyson further emphasizes that
one cannot put complete faith in a higher being by stating that [God] does not want students who
could make the next major breakthrough in renewable energy sources or space travel to have been
taught that anything they do not understand, and that nobody yet understands, is divinely constructed
and therefore beyond intellectual capability

This past Sunday, Hollywood s biggest stars gathered at the Dolby Theatre to announce the winners of
the 89th Academy Awards. The red carpet was rolled out once again, and many talented men and
women were awarded for their contributions to the film industry. This past year saw some great
cinema, with major contenders like La La Land, Moonlight, and Arrival all vying for the iconic golden

Having fled to America during the nationwide conflict known as the Troubles, he is nervous about
rekindling his relationship with his old best friend, Paddy (Hill) and his wife, Mary (Maggie Cronin),
to whom Jim used to be engaged. One thing that is impressive about The Shore is how it gets the
audience to connect to the characters in such a short amount of time. Despite not being a feature
length motion picture, the story fleshes out all the characters, their backstories, and their personalities.
After hearing the history of Jim, Paddy, and Mary, you genuinely look forward to their reunion, and
hope that they can reconcile with each other. The story is helped by having an extremely talented cast.
All the actors have great chemistry with each other, making the interactions between characters seem
charming and relatable. Hill is especially entertaining, being able to pull off comedic scenes at some
points, as well as the more sentimental scenes at others. The Shore is one of those movies that is
bound to leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling by the time that the credits roll. While other films
categorized as Oscar bait seem to be designed to make you feel bad about humanity, this short has the
opposite effect, leaving the audience with a satisfying ending. If you want great short film that will put

This information has been proven throughout the show as everywhere truman goes are messages that
warn travelers about the dangers of flying and that he has a fear of water but is on an island, but this
fact is proven most in the sequence in which truman tries to escape from the island but as he finds out
there are layers upon layers of feature installed to stop him from leaving. This sequence in which
truman is being hunted the people who are hunting him have fallen into a rhythmic march. This helps
to reinforce the image that these people are guards. This is done in the way that they are marching
which military personnel are trained to do. This marching also adds to the fact that they are no
different from one another as they are all partaking in this singular activity. Also there is music that
has been put in over this sequence, the type of music that gives the viewer the impression that a
military activity is occurring, this technique adds even further to the analogy that the pursuers are
guards but not just prison guards they are guards of a concentration

My Writing Of A College Level Writing Course
At the beginning of the term, I came into this class not feeling very confident about my writing. I had
taken writing classes in the past, but none to the extent of a college level writing course. One of the
skills that I found I lacked the most was my vocabulary. While my writing structure was often not a
problem my writing did not sound as sophisticated as it could be. I occasionally used a thesaurus but
this would often cause problems as sometimes the words would not quite agree with the meaning of
my sentence. Throughout the term the one thing that helped me the most with this problem were the
workshops. As my peers corrected my paper they helped me to come up with more intelligent words
to get my point across to the reader. I believe that without the inclusion of these workshops my essays
would not have been as cleanly written. For upcoming classes one aspect of writing that I would like
to focus on is my ability to stay on topic. A lot of the time I tend to become so engulfed in one
reasoning for my argument that my mind begins to wander elsewhere. Ultimately my essay structure
will suffer because of this, so in order to stay more focused I want to start making outlines before I
write out my essays. With an outline it will be easier for me to stay on topic since I will have a
structure to follow. Also by having an outline I can find my quotes and compose my topic sentences
ahead of time, making it easier for me to see if my ideas will fit well together. This will also

Descriptive Essay About The Pool
Alright, kiddos, Teacher announces, we re here. Before we head into the pool, let s check. What are
the pool rules again?
An assortment of enthusiastic voices cries out, Sunscreen, get a buddy, we have to see you Anything

That s right, confirms Teacher, you need sunscreen, a swimming buddy, eyes on me, and you MUST, I

The short walk to the pool is a blur to Zane. His mind is elsewhere thinking of all the fun things he s

things and make big splashes. When the pool finally comes into view, it s a paradise. An ocean of

around on rafts or in inner tubes, but some of the younger inhabitants are gleefully splashing and

Tourette syndrome is an inherited severe neurological disorder usually occurring before the age of
eighteen and is associated with a degree of facial and body tics sometimes accompanied by random

be painful and even embarrassing. Involuntary body movements such as jaw snapping, gyrating,

Essay on Greece s Golden Age Under Pericles Rule
Greece s Golden Age can be defined as a time of flourishing. There are many changes that occurred
during this time that changed Athens for the better. Athens made the important decision of splitting
itself from Sparta, who they constantly differed with. It is from this split that the Athenian Empire was
created (Hunt 80). This split illustrates the certainty that the Athenians possessed in terms of creating a
better nation. Athens developed an empire because democracy was expensive. In order for democracy
to be created, you need an empire to raise money. The Athenian empire was well known for its
excellent trading along with the arts and sciences that developed during this time. When trade

However, in order for this to happen the Athenian citizens were to cooperate with the system. The
assembly which was part of the Athenian government had several tasks to take care of which included:
making administrative declarations, electing individuals into official positions, creating a constitution,
and punishing those who committed crimes. The idea of how much an individual will get paid, who
can serve in public offices, and who possesses authority were all dealt with in an arbitrary fashion.
This is to give everyone an equal opportunity. People were penalized for misconduct. The laws were
to be followed strictly according to the Rule of Law. Those who served in high positions were able to
run for election as many times as they desired. They did not have a salary because it prevented them
from running for office simply to acquire money (Hunt 82). These improvements drove the Athenian
Empire towards democracy. A change from power in the hands of the archons to power in the hands of
jurymen was implemented.
The form of democracy that Pericles put into effect was not favored by everyone. This is mainly
because the people did not believe that the uneducated should have a say in any way. They thought
that the poor may use this power against the rich. There was a point in time when the Athenian
democracy experienced difficult phases and the rich blamed the poor for this misfortune. Some
believed that giving the poor power was illegitimate.

Audience should not be made to sympathise with wrong doers.

about a girl think more about life and having to make hard decisions. Tuck Everlasting By: Natalie

The Importance Of Food Stamp Challenges
Did you know that 17% of Americans in rural areas live below the poverty line, and out of those 17%,
15 million of those individuals are children? (Hunger In America 2014). The month of September was
Hunger Action month and many individuals helped raise awareness by taking the Food Stamp (SNAP)
Challenge. This challenge consists of an individual living on the SNAP balance of a $6 7 per day
budget for food. Many individuals came to the realization that this is a difficult budget, and does not
meet the nutritional needs for a family. Personally, I could not take the challenge. However, I did set
up a budget plan for what I could spend on food for a week. To begin with, personally, I like to shop at
Aldi. A lot of the foods are knock off brand, and are a few dollars cheaper. For breakfast, I could
purchase a box of cereal for $1.69 2. For lunch, I could purchase a can of soup or noodles for $1. Then
for dinner, I could fry a pack of chicken for $2.29 (Aldi vs. Walmart). With tax added, I could possibly

I asked my friends whether or not they would be able to take the SNAP challenge, and also what are
their thoughts on this problem of people living on such a small budget. On Twitter, the poll was 50/50.
Voters voted that some could live on the $6 7 dollars, and then the others said they could not (Anna
Kate Campbell 2017). Then on Facebook, 7 out of 9 friends stated that the SNAP challenge can be
done. Some of the individuals even stated that they are/or have lived on this budget before. However,
two friends brought up the fact that individuals taking the challenge or who live on this budget have to
grocery shop intellectually. Many individuals can buy junk food which does not nutritionally feed a
family. The other friend also brought up the topic and fear that many individuals can misuse the

Homelessness And The Homeless Youth
Homelessness is a major problem in the United States. An incredibly vulnerable group is the homeless
youth due to their young age and lack of education. According to Edidin, Ganim, Hunter, Karnik
(2012) on any particular night in the United States there are ~2 million homeless youth living on the
streets, in shelters, or in other temporary accommodation. Youth become homeless for multiple
reasons whether it be because they have aged out of foster care, ran from home, were kicked out of
their home, or because they have become homeless along with their family members. Within the
umbrella categorization of homeless youth there are high at risk subgroups, common misconceptions,
and a serious concern of lack of support and medical services. Homeless youth face an abundance of
challenges, especially if they are on their own, such as finding food, shelter, income, and potential
medical expenses. Some youth experience additional hardship by facing the effects of abuse they
endured at their previous place of residence. According to the National Conference of State
Legislators (2013) 46 percent of runaway and homeless youth reported physical abuse, 38 percent
reported emotional abuse, and 17 percent reported being forced into unwanted sexual activity by a
family or household member. Therefore, the chances of emotional vulnerability are high. A common
misconception of homeless youth is that even if they do become homeless they are not homeless for
long. The National Alliance to End

Health Issues Of Health Of Women And Infants Essay
When a child is born the mother is also born again, as rightfully quoted by Gilbert Parker. Childbirth
is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could have and we, as women, should feel proud
to be major contributors for it. A mother plays a key role in aiding healthcare workers to mitigate the
health crisis associated with childbirth by performing her duties faithfully. One such associated health
crisis is Premature (preterm) birth which occurs when the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of
gestational period(CDC,2015). It is an important public health priority in terms of health of women
and infants.
Extent of this public health problem: Every year an estimated 15 million pretaerm babies are born and
this number is still rising.(WHO,2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10 babies born in United States were
premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born premature than white, Hispanic and
Asian/Pacific islander infants(CDC,2015). Almost 1 million children die each year due to
complications of premature birth(WHO,2015). A major challenge in decreasing the rate of preterm
birth is lack of knowledge about the etiologies and effective strategies for prevention. In order to
create awareness and mollify premature birth, a community based outreach program based on
Transtheoretical Model is proposed to strategically prevent premature birth among high risk
population of African American women.
Priority population:

Compare And Contrast Africa And American Colonialism
Unfortunately, Africa and American both experienced colonialism a long time ago. Colonialism, after
all, is a political system in which an external nation takes complete control of a territory in another
area of the world. Moreover, the colonized people do not invite the colonial power, nor do they have
any say in how they are governed. Colonialism is by definition and practiced un democratic! The
displeasure experience brings them a lot of similarities, and the same time, it brings them some
differences as well. Africa and America have the similarities on what the invaders wanted from them
their natural resources. Colonial regimes concentrated on finding and exploiting the most profitable
natural resources in each colony of Africa. In mineral rich colonies, the emphasis was placed on
mining. In other territories, the colonial power identified agricultural products suitable for export to
Europe. The prominence in either case, was on developing the resources for export, not for local use
or consumption. Profits from the export of mineral and agricultural goods were also sent to Europe.
Profits that could have been used to promote social and economic development in the colonies were
not available. The small taxes levied on exports went to support colonial rule. For America, European
imported the squashes, pumpkins, and corn etc. so that their health standard grew higher. The
Europeans also loved fur, so beaver pelts were one of the exchange items as well. And later, the three
continents fell into a triangle trade system, which involved three journeys each with the promise of a
large profit and a full cargo. In reality, the journey was more complicated with ships travelling from all
over Europe carrying manufactured goods to different ports along the African coast to trade for slaves.
The ships from Africa then sailed across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and Americas to trade the slaves
for raw materials. Finally, the ships from America returned to Europe with raw materials such as
sugar, tobacco, rice and cotton. Africa and America are different in the way that the colonialism
developed. To Europeans, Africa was more like a method in the trading system. They not only got the
natural resources from it, but

New Guinea Film Analysis
New Guinea is an island in the South West Pacific region. It is located in the continent of Oceania and
Australia. (Worldatlas, 2015) While European only colonized the western half of the island, Australian
miners explored the east side of the New Guinea island, which named Papua New Guinea. In 1926,
hundreds of Australian came to Papua New Guinea, the Promised Land, to search for gold. It was
similar to the Gold Rush in the United States. The absence of law led to the system of staking claims.
(Papua New Guinea Mine Watch, 2012) Australian miners claimed the ownership of gold and gained
the wealth while taking advantage of native New Guinea Highlanders resources and labors. The greed

The Holocaust And The Bosnian Genocide
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the word genocide as the killing of people who belong to a
particular racial, political, or cultural group (Merriam). But aren t genocides much more then that?
Over the past hundred years, there have been several attempted genocides around the world. Two of
the most well known genocides are the Holocaust (the Nazi s attempt to destroy the Jewish people)
and the Bosnian genocide (the Serbians attempt to destroy the Bosnian population). This paper
analyzes a political cartoon relating to genocides, describes the events that led to the Holocaust and
the Bosnian genocide, describes several similarities and differences between them and explains why
genocides continue regardless of the saying, Never Again . I. Cartoon Interpretation The cartoon is a
commentary about the United Nations unsuccessful efforts to stop genocide. These efforts began in the
1940s: Nearly 60 years ago, the international community made a commitment to put an end to the
crime of genocide by ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of
the Crime of Genocide. (Hastings) As noted in the cartoon, however, the United Nations efforts have
not succeeded. The cartoon shows a tremendous amount of skeleton heads. These skeleton heads
could refer to all of the people who have been killed in genocides around the world. It also shows
approximately 15 graves above the skeleton heads. The graves include the names of different places

Thiazide Diuretic Essay
Thiazides are diuretic that works on removing extracellular fluid from the body. It is used in heart
failure and hypertensive patients. Thiazide diuretic works primarily in the distal tubular of the
kidneys. Diuretics affects the electrolyte balance and reduce blood pressure in the body and therefore
should be monitored closely. Thiazide diuretic works by decreasing plasma volume which reduces
venous return and diminishes cardiac output causing blood pressure to fall. This change in plasma
volume with a diuretic can stimulate both the sympathetic nervous system and the renin angiotensin
aldosterone system. The degree in which these systems activate governs the magnitude of acute blood
pressure decrease with both diuretic monotherapy and diuretics given in combination with ... Show

During the first few weeks of treatment, plasma volume returns to slightly less that pretreatment
levels, despite the continued administration of a diuretic. In the chronic phase of treatment, the
vasodepressor influence of a diuretic emerges as a process driven by a reduction in total peripheral
resistance (Sica, 2004). According to Woo Robinson (2015), thiazide and loop diuretics decrease the
renal excretion of lithium and may induce lithium toxicity. Thiazide diuretic is one of the drugs that
have been there for many years to treat high blood pressure. This drug works in such of way that it
excretes sodium and chloride out of the body; it lowers arterial pressure resulting in vasodilation and
reduces cardiac output by decreasing extracellular fluid and plasma volume (American Heart
Association, 2016). One of the major problems associated with thiazide diuretic is hypokalemia which
can in result effect the kidneys (American Heart Association, 2016). It is important to ensure that
patients who are taking thiazide diuretics that their potassium level is within range. Low potassium
can lead to abnormal rhythms in the heart and can even cause the heart to stop beating

Despite many laws and legislation attempts to eliminate the evils of racism, the problem focuses on
the cultural differences of race, color and biological supremacy. Racism comes in the form of ethnic

Racism has a long continuous history in America that began from slavery to the passage of the Civil
Rights Act (1964).There are many forms of racism: open, violent and covert. Open racism focuses on
individual freedom to express racial thoughts and speech. Open racism exist in America because of an
individual s freedom of speech derived from the first amendment (Deo, 2012). Societal use of open
racism in America is declining and found unconstitutional and politically incorrect. Violent racism is a
form of racism that the use of violence is exhibited through imposing fear from racial groups to
express their agendas. Covert racism is the most common type of racism used today. The covert racist
is unaware that they are racist. Covert racists uses this tactic to intimidate groups or cultures that are
inferior to their culture. Individual racism is a form of racism that has one person discriminates against
another. Institutional racism is a form of racism when institutions discriminate against a race for unfair
and biased reasons, the same reason the individual racist would do (racial profiling). Lastly racism is

The Trial And Death Of Socrates Analysis
In order to leave a memorable past, you have to learn how to stand tall for what you believe in.
Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be remembered. The ones who are
always remembered are the ones who didn t follow the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and Death of
Socrates, Socrates was brought up on false chargers and was still able to hold his stance. For Socrates
he thought he would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that point it was frowned
upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and make others see from his
point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good arguments to defend himself. For example, when
Meletus says that majority improve the young while the minority corrupt it, but Socrates brings up a
great point with horses and other animals. While with animals the minority improve and the majority
corrupt. (25B) During Socrates trial, a lot of details cluing into a bigger picture showing how he is

day to day running of the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is important
for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters. Managers must
study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired goals.
Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface
between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. (Griffin, 2012) We can
divide organizational behavior in 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the
organization. The second is the work group which is made by placing workers into specific groups.
The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

Medical Coding Criteria
MEDICAL CODING QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATION
Medical Coding is a career in which professionals use numeric and alphabetic codes to help submit
and process medical claims. The coder abstracts information from the patient records and combines
that information with coding guidelines to assign the right code for the information provided by
physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals. Insurance companies look at these codes to

Alcohol may be man s worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy Frank Sinatra. In chemistry,
alcohol is any substance with sugars that have been fermented (Hirst). Alcohol has been a part of

7000 BCE (Hirst). Ancient Egyptians are cited as having had some form of alcohol (Hirst). Sura was a
prominent Indian alcohol made from rice from 3000 BCE to 2000 BCE (Hirst). Babylonians had

with wine, (New International Version, Eph 5.18) was to sin. For the next few hundred years, alcohol
consumption was seen as an act for moderation. The nineteenth century marks the beginning of a great
push for temperance during the Second Great Awakening; this was founded upon an increased level of
alcoholism in Europe and America during a time of Industrialization that called for the need of reliable
workers (Holt). The Puritan push for temperance became stronger, and in 1826, the Society for the

group was partly responsible for the implementation of the illegality of buying alcohol in many states
on a Sunday (Indiana is the only state in which this law remains in effect) and for the movement that
preceded the Prohibition in 1920 (Holt). The Prohibition disallowed Americans to produce, import,
transport, or sell alcoholic beverages; it lasted for thirteen years until the twenty first amendment
ended it because of the reaction it sparked (Holt). In the twenty first century, the minimum drinking

Transgender People Face Harmful Discrimination
His mother holds up another dress, remarking on how cute it is and handing it to him to try on. She
ignores the uncomfortable look on his face and tells him to hurry up. He sits in the dressing room in
silence, looking at himself in the mirror, the dress hanging on a hook beside him. He furrows his
brows, covers his chest with his arms, and stares at the face looking back at him. It doesn t look right,
he thinks, trying not to cry. All his life he had been called she and girl and it never felt right. No one

misconceptions about them, transgender people face harmful discrimination, whether being told their
feelings are invalid, that there is no such thing, or being killed for who they are. Identifying as a

The Dynamic Between Men And Women During The Heian Era
Genji Monogatari, credited to Murasaki Shikibu, defines contemporary aristocratic etiquette and
lifestyles of the Heian era. Of Fujiwara lineage, the clan which organized marriages with the emperor,
renders intimate credibility of court life albeit from eyes of her middle aristocratic origin. Society s
portrayal in this story primarily chronicles the life of Genji, whose rank is in the upper echelon of
nobility, which in the eleventh century numbers about 5,000, and thus explores what is tolerable and
preferential to their cultured tastes. Given that aristocrats were preoccupied with their upbringing and
level in society, they were deeply sensitive to nature s evanescent beauty, the art of poetry, calligraphy,
music, etcetera. Insight unto the dynamic between men and women within this regal milieu
emphasizes status, social and emotional, and value, gauged by capability, amongst both sexes. The
women during the Heian era are customarily confined to study the arts within their home and seen
solely by their father and husband throughout their life. Estranged from view by blinds and screens
their interaction outside of their dwelling is contingent upon further shrouds from lurking eyes of

The Importance Of Choosing A College
Choosing what to do for the rest of your life and which school to attend is a difficult decision at the
age of eighteen. Throughout your high school career, teachers warn students how hard choosing a
college will be. Teachers prepare the students for this time in their life, but as the day comes, the
decision is not easier. Many factors are taken into consideration when choosing a college. Factors such
as cost, programs offered, and living arrangements are considered. Universities are alike in certain
ways, such as aspects on campus. Although universities are similar, they may differ in location. One
university may be closer to a student s hometown, which could be one of the attracting factors of that
school to the student. In order to understand and view the important aspects each school has to offer, it
is crucial to compare and contrast Northern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville to distinguish which school offers more to suit my wants and needs as a student entering
college. While deciding on a college, cost can be a big factor in the decision that is being made. Cost
is important because the student will be paying off that debt for many years after the college degree
has been received. Most students are unable to pay off the large expense that college brings up front,
so student loans must be taken out. With student loans, there is interest. If the student attends an
expensive college and does not start out in their career making a lot

Slavery And TheAmerican Revolution Essay Slavery originated as early as the 1600 s when Britain shipped 3.1 million Africans to British owned colonies in the Caribbean. The new idea of slavery brought controversial ideals and created a historical movement that effected even the peoples of today. Slavery is a form of manipulation that was excused as a conscious way to provide economic growth in Caribbean and European colonies. It then revolutionized itself into a much bigger issue; many didn t anticipate it could also revolutionize the world. The Haitian Revolution of 1759 evoked a social change that transformed the Caribbean countries, Cuba and Haiti, while slowly expanding the idea of the abolition of slavery. Through traumatic social events, slavery was justified as a way to sustain economics while it simultaneously harmed the lives of the enslaved. During the years of 1700 1830 s the slaves took part in a series of revolts. Seeing as it was unethical to enslave humans, they demanded their rights and wanted to end their cruel forms of labor. Also, adolescents may more often delay seeking care for abortion related complications due to lack of transportation, lack of knowledge about where post abortion care can be obtained, fears of censure from their parents and health care providers, fear of legal repercussions, or lack of money to pay for services (Ipas, 2005). This may be particularly so in rural communities where access to basic in frastructural facilities remain low and inadequate 1.2 RESEARCH QUESTIONS The guiding research questions for this study include the following:What is the knowledge level of adolescent girls about reproductive health issues generally? What is their level of awareness concerning the existence of family planning services? Is there a link between the knowledge level of adolescent girls about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martin Luther sInfluence On Catholicism For a long time Catholicism was the dominant religion. If you were not a catholic then you did not go to church, or at least church with a lot of people. Then came a man named Martin Luther. Martin threw a curveball in the Catholic Church s plan. He pointed out the indulgences being sold by the Roman Catholic church to fund new buildings and new things for the pope and bishops to have. Lutheranism is a religion based off of Catholicism with changes done by Martin Luther, a German Monk and Theologian, he made his points with the 95 theses, and it exposed all the flaws with the catholic church. Martin Luther was born November 10, 1483 to Hans and Margethe Luther in Eisleben, Germany. His Father Hans was a copper mine owner. At age 17, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Church was formed because of a break up of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America, due to a disagreement about the church principles. The CLC believes that the bible is the only thing you can look to for religion. The Lutheran Church as a whole has over 72 million members today. In the ELCA the North Carolina Synod is the 3rd largest Synod within the ELCA. Catholicism differs from Lutheranism with two main flaws. The flaws that existed back in the 1500s still exist today. The first is how is one saved and be able to enter heaven? The Lutherans believe that the scripture tells us our fate. Debate on ColumbusDay Essay To change Columbus Day to no longer be a holiday would be turning a blind eye to a difficult history, yet still turning that eye away from a history with a side to be celebrated. I instead ask of you to celebrate Columbus Day, learn the full history, including the wrong doings of Columbus and his crew, and celebrate the good change brought about by this event that ultimately led to the lifestyle you lead today. If the wrongs of every event in history were to be scrutinized would we have a history left to celebrate? Think of the reasons why we celebrate a moment in history, and then think why we have not excluded that from our celebrations. Even when we look at something in a holiday that isn t negative, like the Christmas tree, which there aren t conifers in Jerusalem, it shows how much our holidays can be skewed from a tradition which was originally practiced. Even the other holidays honoring great men can have a darker side. MLK day for example; Martin Luther King, or Michael Luther King, was under scrutiny because his doctorate had blatant plagiarism, also his I Have a Dream speech was plagiarized from a pastor from his church he attended. This shows that history and the light we view people in can be skewed to retain the honor or the pomp and circumstance that comes with remembering the good brought about by their achievements. Beyond the fact that Columbus was not the first person to discover the Americas, he was the man that brought about European civilization to America and their fascination with conquering a new world. His wrong doings, which include, letting his crew rape, pillage and plunder the Bahamas, should not outweigh the good that coming to America brought for us as Americans who, without European influence may not have progressed quite as far or in the circumstances we did. Research Paper OnMad Cow Disease Mad cow disease is a deadly disease caused by prions in the brains of cattle. The real name of this disease is bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Abnormal prions are usually found in the brain tissue of many diseased cattle and they transmit the infection. Many changes are seen in the brain of infected cattle. Infection can lead to small holes in parts of the brain, giving the tissue a sponge like appearance when viewed with a microscope. These small holes cause slow decline in a cow s brain and eventually other symptoms develop affecting the whole body. The cows then die. If humans eat diseased cows, they can develop the human form of mad cow disease known as Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (VCJD). Creutzfeldt Jakob disease can occur in ... Death By NeilDegrasse Tyson Analysis By reading the book Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries, one can deduce that the author, Neil deGrasse Tyson, is man of intelligence with a love for the ways of the universe. He clearly has a passion for what he does, as he immerses himself in his personal interests by giving public lectures about the cosmos (346). He values his personal interest so much that he has solved how long it would take to cook a 16 inch pepperoni pizza on Venus; the answer is seven seconds (80). Tyson obviously has a strong enthusiasm for what he does as an astrophysicist and has spent many years in this field. My Writing OfA College Level Writing Course At the beginning of the term, I came into this class not feeling very confident about my writing. I had taken writing classes in the past, but none to the extent of a college level writing course. One of the skills that I found I lacked the most was my vocabulary. While my writing structure was often not a problem my writing did not sound as sophisticated as it could be. I occasionally used a thesaurus but this would often cause problems as sometimes the words would not quite agree with the meaning of my sentence. Throughout the term the one thing that helped me the most with this problem were the workshops. As my peers corrected my paper they helped me to come up with more intelligent words to get my point across to the reader. I believe that without the inclusion of these workshops my essays would not have been as cleanly written. For upcoming classes one aspect of writing that I would like to focus on is my ability to stay on topic. A lot of the time I tend to become so engulfed in one reasoning for my argument that my mind begins to wander elsewhere. Ultimately my essay structure will suffer because of this, so in order to stay more focused I want to start making outlines before I write out my essays. With an outline it will be easier for me to stay on topic since I will have a structure to follow. Also by having an outline I can find my quotes and compose my topic sentences ahead of time, making it easier for me to see if my ideas will fit well together. This will also ... Essay on Greeces Golden Age Under Pericles Rule Greece s Golden Age can be defined as a time of flourishing. There are many changes that occurred during this time that changed Athens for the better. Athens made the important decision of splitting itself from Sparta, who they constantly differed with. It is from this split that the Athenian Empire was created (Hunt 80). This split illustrates the certainty that the Athenians possessed in terms of creating a better nation. Athens developed an empire because democracy was expensive. In order for democracy to be created, you need an empire to raise money. The assembly which was part of the Athenian government had several tasks to take care of which included: making administrative declarations, electing individuals into official positions, creating a constitution, and punishing those who committed crimes. The idea of how much an individual will get paid, who can serve in public offices, and who possesses authority were all dealt with in an arbitrary fashion. This is to give everyone an equal opportunity. People were penalized for misconduct. The laws were to be followed strictly according to the Rule of Law. Those who served in high positions were able to run for election as many times as they desired. They did not have a salary because it prevented them from running for office simply to acquire money (Hunt 82). These improvements drove the Athenian Empire towards democracy. A change from power in the hands of the archons to power in the hands of jurymen was implemented. The form of democracy that Pericles put into effect was not favored by everyone. This is mainly because the people did not believe that the uneducated should have a say in any way. They thought that the poor may use this power against the rich. There was a point in time when the Athenian democracy experienced difficult phases and the rich blamed the poor for this misfortune. Some believed that giving the poor power was illegitimate. ... The films, to which I will be referring are Psycho (1960) and The Birds (1963) , I will illustrate the techniques, which the director (Alfred Hitchcock) used to appeal to specific audiences. Melanie Daniels decides to take some birds to Mitch s house in Bodega Bay. When she arrives she is attacked by a gull however after this accident the attacks become more frequent and seemingly more co ordinated. Most of the successful may have had to lose some of their most effective and audience attracting scenes in order to be released at the time of the Hays code. A wrong doer should not be shown to get away with any wrong doing. In addition, blasphemy and bad language (even words such as Damn or Hell ) were forbidden as was excessive, lustful kissing and embracing: which was considered totally unacceptable. Homelessness And TheHomeless Youth Homelessness is a major problem in the United States. An incredibly vulnerable group is the homeless youth due to their young age and lack of education. According to Edidin, Ganim, Hunter, Karnik (2012) on any particular night in the United States there are ~2 million homeless youth living on the streets, in shelters, or in other temporary accommodation. Youth become homeless for multiple reasons whether it be because they have aged out of foster care, ran from home, were kicked out of their home, or because they have become homeless along with their family members. Within the umbrella categorization of homeless youth there are high at risk subgroups, common misconceptions, and a serious concern of lack of support and medical services. Homeless youth face an abundance of challenges, especially if they are on their own, such as finding food, shelter, income, and potential medical expenses. Some youth experience additional hardship by facing the effects of abuse they endured at their previous place of residence. According to the National Conference of State Legislators (2013) 46 percent of runaway and homeless youth reported physical abuse, 38 percent reported emotional abuse, and 17 percent reported being forced into unwanted sexual activity by a family or household member. Therefore, the chances of emotional vulnerability are high. A common misconception of homeless youth is that even if they do become homeless they are not homeless for long. Health Issues OfHealth Of Women And Infants Essay When a child is born the mother is also born again, as rightfully quoted by Gilbert Parker. Childbirth is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could have and we, as women, should feel proud to be major contributors for it. A mother plays a key role in aiding healthcare workers to mitigate the health crisis associated with childbirth by performing her duties faithfully. One such associated health crisis is Premature (preterm) birth which occurs when the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of gestational period(CDC,2015). It is an important public health priority in terms of health of women and infants. Extent of this public health problem: Every year an estimated 15 million pretaerm babies are born and this number is still rising.(WHO,2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10 babies born in United States were premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born premature than white, Hispanic and Asian/Pacific islander infants(CDC,2015). Almost 1 million children die each year due to complications of premature birth(WHO,2015). A major challenge in decreasing the rate of preterm birth is lack of knowledge about the etiologies and effective strategies for prevention. In order to create awareness and mollify premature birth, a community based outreach program based on Transtheoretical Model is proposed to strategically prevent premature birth among high risk population of African American women. Compare And ContrastAfrica And American Colonialism Unfortunately, Africa and American both experienced colonialism a long time ago. Colonialism, after all, is a political system in which an external nation takes complete control of a territory in another area of the world. Moreover, the colonized people do not invite the colonial power, nor do they have any say in how they are governed. Colonialism is by definition and practiced un democratic! The displeasure experience brings them a lot of similarities, and the same time, it brings them some differences as well. Africa and America have the similarities on what the invaders wanted from them their natural resources. Colonial regimes concentrated on finding and exploiting the most profitable natural resources in each colony of Africa. In mineral rich colonies, the emphasis was placed on mining. In other territories, the colonial power identified agricultural products suitable for export to Europe. The prominence in either case, was on developing the resources for export, not for local use or consumption. Profits from the export of mineral and agricultural goods were also sent to Europe. Profits that could have been used to promote social and economic development in the colonies were not available. The small taxes levied on exports went to support colonial rule. For America, European imported the squashes, pumpkins, and corn etc. so that their health standard grew higher. The Europeans also loved fur, so beaver pelts were one of the exchange items as well. And later, the three continents fell into a triangle trade system, which involved three journeys each with the promise of a large profit and a full cargo. In reality, the journey was more complicated with ships travelling from all over Europe carrying manufactured goods to different ports along the African coast to trade for slaves. The ships from Africa then sailed across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and Americas to trade the slaves for raw materials. Finally, the ships from America returned to Europe with raw materials such as sugar, tobacco, rice and cotton. Africa and America are different in the way that the colonialism developed. To Europeans, Africa was more like a method in the trading system. They not only got the natural resources from it, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New Guinea FilmAnalysis New Guinea is an island in the South West Pacific region. It is located in the continent of Oceania and Australia. (Worldatlas, 2015) While European only colonized the western half of the island, Australian miners explored the east side of the New Guinea island, which named Papua New Guinea. In 1926, hundreds of Australian came to Papua New Guinea, the Promised Land, to search for gold. It was similar to the Gold Rush in the United States. The absence of law led to the system of staking claims. (Papua New Guinea Mine Watch, 2012) Australian miners claimed the ownership of gold and gained the wealth while taking advantage of native New Guinea Highlanders resources and labors. The greed and desire of Australian miner indicated the capitalism in the nineteenth century. In fact, the film, First ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Holocaust AndThe Bosnian Genocide The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines the word genocide as the killing of people who belong to a particular racial, political, or cultural group (Merriam). But aren t genocides much more then that? Over the past hundred years, there have been several attempted genocides around the world. Two of the most well known genocides are the Holocaust (the Nazi s attempt to destroy the Jewish people) and the Bosnian genocide (the Serbians attempt to destroy the Bosnian population). This paper analyzes a political cartoon relating to genocides, describes the events that led to the Holocaust and the Bosnian genocide, describes several similarities and differences between them and explains why genocides continue regardless of the saying, Never Again . I. Cartoon Interpretation The cartoon is a commentary about the United Nations unsuccessful efforts to stop genocide. These efforts began in the 1940s: Nearly 60 years ago, the international community made a commitment to put an end to the crime of genocide by ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. (Hastings) As noted in the cartoon, however, the United Nations efforts have not succeeded. The cartoon shows a tremendous amount of skeleton heads. These skeleton heads could refer to all of the people who have been killed in genocides around the world. It also shows approximately 15 graves above the skeleton heads. Thiazide Diuretic Essay Thiazidesare diuretic that works on removing extracellular fluid from the body. It is used in heart failure and hypertensive patients. Thiazide diuretic works primarily in the distal tubular of the kidneys. Diuretics affects the electrolyte balance and reduce blood pressure in the body and therefore should be monitored closely. Thiazide diuretic works by decreasing plasma volume which reduces venous return and diminishes cardiac output causing blood pressure to fall. This change in plasma volume with a diuretic can stimulate both the sympathetic nervous system and the renin angiotensin aldosterone system. In the chronic phase of treatment, the vasodepressor influence of a diuretic emerges as a process driven by a reduction in total peripheral resistance (Sica, 2004). According to Woo Robinson (2015), thiazide and loop diuretics decrease the renal excretion of lithium and may induce lithium toxicity. Thiazide diuretic is one of the drugs that have been there for many years to treat high blood pressure. This drug works in such of way that it excretes sodium and chloride out of the body; it lowers arterial pressure resulting in vasodilation and reduces cardiac output by decreasing extracellular fluid and plasma volume (American Heart Association, 2016). One of the major problems associated with thiazide diuretic is hypokalemia which can in result effect the kidneys (American Heart Association, 2016). It is important to ensure that patients who are taking thiazide diuretics that their potassium level is within range. Anyone who can be easily persuaded is not someone who cares to be remembered. The ones who are always remembered are the ones who didn t follow the rest of the crowd. In the Trial and Death of Socrates, Socrates was brought up on false chargers and was still able to hold his stance. For Socrates he thought he would think logically instead of like the others. However, at that point it was frowned upon to think a different way. Socrates tries to use his own ideology and make others see from his point of view. When he is put on trial, he uses good arguments to defend himself. Alcohol has been a part of human history for an immense amount of time; evidence of an alcohol drink in China dates back to 7000 BCE (Hirst). Ancient Egyptians are cited as having had some form of alcohol (Hirst). Sura was a prominent Indian alcohol made from rice from 3000 BCE to 2000 BCE (Hirst). The Puritan push for temperance became stronger, and in 1826, the Society for the Promotion of Temperance was formed with over five thousand chapters across the United States; this group was partly responsible for the implementation of the illegality of buying alcohol in many states on a Sunday (Indiana is the only state in which this law remains in effect) and for the movement that preceded the Prohibition in 1920 (Holt). Transgender People FaceHarmful Discrimination His mother holds up another dress, remarking on how cute it is and handing it to him to try on. She ignores the uncomfortable look on his face and tells him to hurry up. He sits in the dressing room in silence, looking at himself in the mirror, the dress hanging on a hook beside him. He furrows his brows, covers his chest with his arms, and stares at the face looking back at him. It doesn t look right, he thinks, trying not to cry. Due to the many misconceptions about them, transgender people face harmful discrimination, whether being told their feelings are invalid, that there is no such thing, or being killed for who they are. The Dynamic BetweenMen And Women During The Heian Era Genji Monogatari, credited to Murasaki Shikibu, defines contemporary aristocratic etiquette and lifestyles of the Heian era. Of Fujiwara lineage, the clan which organized marriages with the emperor, renders intimate credibility of court life albeit from eyes of her middle aristocratic origin. Society s portrayal in this story primarily chronicles the life of Genji, whose rank is in the upper echelon of nobility, which in the eleventh century numbers about 5,000, and thus explores what is tolerable and preferential to their cultured tastes. Given that aristocrats were preoccupied with their upbringing and level in society, they were deeply sensitive to nature s evanescent beauty, the art of poetry, calligraphy, music, etcetera. Insight unto the dynamic between men and women within this regal milieu emphasizes status, social and emotional, and value, gauged by capability, amongst both sexes. The women during the Heian era are customarily confined to study the arts within their home and seen solely by their father and husband throughout their life. Estranged from view by blinds and screens their interaction outside of their dwelling is contingent upon further shrouds from lurking eyes of people. The Importance OfChoosing A College Choosing what to do for the rest of your life and which school to attend is a difficult decision at the age of eighteen. Throughout your high school career, teachers warn students how hard choosing a college will be. Teachers prepare the students for this time in their life, but as the day comes, the decision is not easier. Many factors are taken into consideration when choosing a college. Factors such as cost, programs offered, and living arrangements are considered. Universities are alike in certain ways, such as aspects on campus. Although universities are similar, they may differ in location. One university may be closer to a student s hometown, which could be one of the attracting factors of that school to the student. In order to understand and view the important aspects each school has to offer, it is crucial to compare and contrast Northern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to distinguish which school offers more to suit my wants and needs as a student entering college. While deciding on a college, cost can be a big factor in the decision that is being made. Cost is important because the student will be paying off that debt for many years after the college degree has been received. Most students are unable to pay off the large expense that college brings up front, so student loans must be taken out. With student loans, there is interest.
