Identifying As A Sexual Minority
Identifying as a sexual minority can be as isolating as it can be a communal experience. Sexual
identities tend to exist in flux as individuals begin to grow understand more about themselves, their
preferences, and the labels they may or may not choose to adopt. Unfortunately, this explorative
process is not always encouraged when these same individuals encounter heteronormative
expectations for their life and behavior. Access to Internet communities comprised of individuals with
varying sexual identities, rupture these localized cultural boundaries and insert varying queer
identities. Their offline setting may prevent the chance for self discovery in a way that is vital to their
health during major stages of development; however, their participation in communities online allow
for the formation of identities otherwise unrepresented in the physical reality they see around them.
Within this paper, the umbrella term queer will be used to encompass many different sexual identities
mentioned. While once used as a derogatory term, it has been rebranded and revitalized as a term of
unification for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In order to prevent erasure of the narrative of
subsets of members within the larger queer community, their identities will be included. When
discussing the larger implications of the development of sexual minority identification, queer will be
employed. The formation of sexual identities is a layered and often lengthy process. Unfortunately,

The Field Of Educational Psychology
Snowman, Jack (1997) defined educational psychology as a branch of psychology concerned with the
scientific study of human learning. The study of learning processes, from both cognitive and
behavioral perspectives, allows researchers to understand individual differences in intelligence,
cognitive development, affect, motivation, self regulation, and self concept, as well as their role in
learning. The field of educational psychology relies heavily on quantitative methods, including testing
and measurement, to enhance educational activities related to instructional design, classroom
management, and assessment, which serve to facilitate learning processes in various educational
settings across the lifespan.
In the period before 1890 many scientists contributed to the field by examining and classifying the
method of education such as Juan Vives (1492 1540) his contribution in supporting the education of
women, recommended the study of nature and advocated induction method of study. Johann Heinrich
Pestalozzi (1782 1853) the foundation father of the kindergarten movement. Austin Sheldon (1823
1897) the leader of founding public schools and normal schools. Francis Parker (1837 1902) the father
of progressive education which influenced by Pestalozzi and Forebel. John Fredrick Herbart (1776
1841) Father of Educational Psychology and scientific pedagogy, he set the principles of Education,
facilitated better learning and ensure children s development, set the teaching

The Between Germany And The European Union
Germany is located in Central Europe, Northern Hemisphere. Germany s population (82 million
people), is the largest population in the European Union, although the population has declined in the
past decade by 2 million people.
On the German flag, the colours red, black and yellow all represent something. The first stripe, (black)
is meant to represent determination. The second stripe (red) represents many concepts such as
hardiness, bravery, strength and valour. The last horizontal stripe (gold/yellow) it represents
Generosity.
Political History of Germany
In 1848, Germany was divided into 39 separate states that had experienced a number of revolutions in
many parts of the country. The revolutionaries tried to force their rulers to allow greater political
freedom and tried to unify the separate states into one country. By 1849 the revolutionaries had been
ceased across Germany and kings and princes regained their power. Liberal nationalists all over
Germany now saw the chance to create a new united Germany. These liberal national Politicians met
in Frankfurt at the new preliminary parliament (vorparliment) to make arrangements for setting up the
new constitutional law. Due to this, the economy had experienced significant changes in the1850s and
1860s. Before World War 1 had begun there where a lot of defence alliances existed between the
between major European counties. This meant that if one of the European countries declared war on
another then the other countries

Martin Luther s Theology Of The Cross
Furthermore, Luther s Theology of the cross helps us to see God incarnate, with us, Emmanuel, even
in the suffering and death of the crucified one, God s only son, Jesus. It is in this suffering that we
know that God is with us. In a very human way, God takes on the fate of the world, to destroy human
flesh through Jesus, the incarnation. God does change, suffer and die. It is God alone, and nothing we
do. God does all the heavy lifting for our sake, and it is a gift. Jesus gives us an example of someone
who loves us so deeply, that he is willing to lay down his life.

Costco Corporation Was Founded By A Pair Of Entrepreneurs,...
Costco Corporation was founded by a pair of entrepreneurs, James Sinegal and Jeffrey Brotman.
Costco is a large wholesales retailer where low price is only a fraction of why they are so successful.
Their profit margins, ethical standards, and happy employees all contribute to why Costco is a
successful business with over 488 locations serving around 48 million cardholders in eight countries.
Costco has an annual sale of over $50 billion due to the strategies they implemented to keep their
workforce of 125,000 motivated. It is known across the world that Costco treat their employees well
and in return the employees are highly motivated to work for Costco and make it a success. Costco is
the top warehouse club and the fourth largest retailer in the United Sates. Costco started from a single
store in Seattle in 1983 to become one of the largest multinational warehouses chain. The story of
Costco begins with the exemplary leadership from the co founders, James Sinegal and Jeffrey
Brotman. The cofounders launched Costco with the idea of having a high volume of inventory which
they could sell for low cost. In order to provide their items at low cost and also pay their employees
well to keep them motivated, Sinegal and Brotman concocted a brilliant idea. The idea was to use the
warehouse as itself, meaning that concrete floors, fluorescent lights, and pallets of merchandise are all
essential to keep price low and customer happy. Although it does not look visually appealing, the

Feminist Perspective In Frankenstein
The feminine perception in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Mary Shelley in the book, Frankenstein
provides a space for exploring the feminine perspective, which is highlighted by the featured female
characters. In today s world gender, issue regarding women is just as important as the historical period
the book is written. This therefore makes the book a very suitable tool in displaying the important
roles women have in society and how far these roles have progressed in the modern world. Some
critics might consider that Mary Shelley limited the woman s story in the book because at the time it
was a male dominated industry. However, one would want to praise her for the courage she displayed

female fosters confidence and courage in women such as Safie who runs away from her father to look

Feminism Is An Effective Ideology Within Politics
Over the last few decades and even today in 2017, feminism has been a widely debated topic. The
misunderstanding in regards to what feminism is and the reason behind it play a large role in this
issue. Before the feminist movement, women were pretty much considered second class citizens.
Feminism is more than just angry, male hating women protesting. Feminism is about change, equality
and opportunity for women of all races and age. There are many reasons as to why feminism has been
an effective ideology within politics. Because of feminism and the women s work movement, more
women than ever before have been given the opportunity to make a difference in government.

2) Feminism brought this issue to light. As a result, more and more countries are using various
methods to slowly increase the percentage of women. One of the more popular methods is to use a
quota. A quota is a mandatory or voluntary number or percentage of women needed to be placed or
hired. (www.lop.parl.gc.ca) Since the adoption of constitutional quotas, the country of Rwanda has
been first in female representation since 2003. Women make up about 48.8% to 63.8% of the
representation in their governments lower house. (www.lop.parl.gc.ca) Because of the large amount of
representation in office, women have more of their issues brought forward and dealt with. For
example, in Latin America, the use of quotas has led to improvements on divorce, domestic violence
legislation, and child care. (Smith, 2005)
The involvement with national and international non governmental organizations (NGOs) along with
other women s groups have been quite beneficial. With these groups and organizations, women not
only have international and transnational relationships with others, but they can also use these groups
to promote women s rights, organize resistances, and to handle issues in regards to a global women s
agenda. (Hawkesworth, 2012 pg. 249) For example, sexual trafficking, gender justice, and women s
economic welfare. These organizations can bring awareness to a specific cause, as a result change can
be made. An example of this would be the adoption of the

The Importance of Vitamin D Essay
Getting some sun is essential to human health despite the risks of the skin cancer. There is much more
benefits that come with the exposure to the sun than harm. Vitamin D that our body produces when we
are exposed to the sun is very efficient in curing so many diseases. It protects from arthritis, diabetes,
infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis and some kinds of cancer, just to name a few. It has been proven
that the Earth s atmosphere blocks 98.7 percent of the sun s UV rays. The other 2.3 percent that we are
exposed to, have both beneficial and harmful effects. We do need to focus on the benefits, because we
have way more of them. The only harm it does to our body is skin cancer, which by being more
careful we can protect from. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has many different negative effects, like growth retardation, skeletal deformation and softening of
the skull (Holick, 2008). In Europe doctors prescribe vitamin D for infants to prevent those kinds of
problems, and also they recommend daily walks in the sun. That is why the children in Europe don t
have rickets as often as in United States. The doctors here depend on the vitamins that are in the
formula, but it is not enough. A study published in Archives of Internal Medicine found that 75 percent
or more of American teens and adults are deficient in Vitamin D. That is why we have so many serious
illnesses, like cancer, diabetes and heart disease (Huff, 2010). Infectious diseases are more seen in
people living in places with less sun during winter months, we know those as influenza virus or
simply cold. The sun in those places is unable to produce vitamin D and that is why we get sick so
often. The people that live in the warm places, where the vitamin D is produced all year round, don t
get sick as often (Holick, 2008). Diabetes is a very big problem in United States, but if we listen to
what researchers had found, we can try to prevent people from getting this disease by staying in the
sun. It has been proven that it can lower 80 percent, if we start giving our infants 2,000 IU of vitamin
D during the first year of life. The research also shows

And it is rather convincing that in average 4 out of 5 small business owners are using credit cards. One
fine example to this financial source is the founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergery Bin have used
their credit cards to start their business. However, there are some disadvantages to this method, as if

The Major Environmental Cause And Environmental Effects Of...
Approximately 150,000 babies born in the United States every year are affected by birth defects, at
least 25 percent of those birth defects are environmentally caused (Birth Defects Statistics). Not only
do birth defects affect thousands of babies, other developmental problems such as low birth weight
and preterm labor also have an effect on a staggering number of children. Some developmental
problems and birth defects are unavoidable, but environmentally caused issues can and should be
prevented. Factors that are considered to be environmental include smoking tobacco, drinking alcohol,
using illegal drugs, taking prescription medications, having infectious diseases or sexually transmitted
diseases, and having poor nutrition. Environmental factors can cause birth defects and developmental
complications, but due to the limited amount of treatments, making appropriate nutrition and lifestyle
decisions during pregnancy can prevent these detrimental issues.
Birth defects and developmental complications can be caused by non environmental factors, or
environmental factors. Genetics and heredity are known causes of birth defects that are not
environmental factors. Birth defects such as Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis,
Sickle Cell Anemia are examples of genetics and heredity issues, which are unavoidable and can not
be prevented. However, environmental factors including: alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, prescription

Arranged Marriages In America
Throughout society, marriage is seen as a special symbol of two people becoming one.
In the eastern side of the world, arranged marriages are very common. It is not like the western world
where couples date to know each other then choose whether they are the perfect match. Arranged
marriages are often chosen by the elders in the family. This practice has been handed down for
centuries. Throughout the marriage process, there are certain procedures that must be followed in
eastern matchmaking. Once a match has been chosen, the couple will learn over time that commitment
and acceptance comes prior to emotions and happiness. Even though our western ways may seem
normal to us, the traditions of eastern marriages are custom through procedure, commitment and
acceptance within their society.
While every traditional marriage may be different, the eastern custom has chosen to abide by long
established procedures. These procedures consist of family members who decide on what is best for
their offspring. The decisions which are considered range from family values, education, wealth, and
physical appearance. This practice has worked well for the union of marriage for the two chosen
individuals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Connection to Real Life Events; King Henry V
Have you ever read a book that made you contemplate how it would pertain to your life or someone
else s life? Certainly, after reading the play titled King Henry V originally written by William
Shakespeare and edited by Andrew Gurr, I concluded that certain situations in this book correspond to
several aspects in this world. For instance, it can connect to many events that occurred during the
1590s, the time period in which this play was written. On the other hand, it correlates with other
compositions that were read in class such as The Prince, but more importantly this play undoubtedly
relates to my life. Even though you may not think the production titled King Henry V applies to you,

For instance, a Prince struggles with various military matters such as the type of troops to have and
even auxiliary to use. Both of these matters resulted from the breaking of Italy where various military
techniques were ineffective and caused great harm (Machiavelli 76 84). On the other hand, King
Henry V struggles with the concept that he is liable for his men s souls and has to implement rules that
do not bestow him with personal gains. In fact, he had difficulty in hanging his best friend Bardolph
because he stole a religious pax which was forbidden in his country (Gurr III vi. 35). While they both
encounter various aspects of being leaders, they additionally correspond with each another in the fact
that they insist on being feared by their men than loved. To illustrate, the Prince proclaimed that he
would preferably be feared because although people love you now they will only turn on you in the
future (Machiavelli 91). Moreover, because love may cease, but being feared never will (Machiavelli
91). However, King Henry V s men worry that all he wants for them is to be executed (Gurr IV.i). In
regards, King Henry did not want to be responsible for their actions because they make pilgrimages
and ultimately decided to enlist in his army which in turn contributes to the fact of being feared and
not loved (Gurr IV.i). Of course, both these subjects interrelate to one another in various ways, but

The Cherry Orchard Essay
The Cherry Orchard The Misunderstood Comedy When the first production of The Cherry Orchard
was performed on stage in Moscow, there was a significant difference of opinion between the author
and directors. Chekhov strongly faulted the directors interpretation that the play should be preformed
as a tragedy and insisted that what he had written was a comedy. The famous philosopher Aristotle
defined a comedy as quot;an imitation of characters of a lower type who are not bad in themselves but
whose faults possess something ludicrous in them. quot; The misinterpretation of The Cherry Orchard
could be mainly due to a misunderstanding of the comic character. A quot;comic quot; character is

It is this that forms the ludicrous or comic essence of Lyubov s character. True, Lyubov s character
does have her tragic moments. At the end of act four, Ania refers to her mother as to having been
crying all morning. Lyubov also expresses a lot of stress from not having money, even though her
actions do not show it. The main theme of the play can be generally taken to be the passing of the old
order of Russian society, symbolized by the sale of the cherry orchard. Since Chekhov did not belong
to the ranks of the Ranevsky family, unlike other authors who had written plays on the same theme,
Chekhov wrote The Cherry Orchard without becoming personally involved. He was able to see the the
comedy of the whole situation and give it an artistic form of a play full of comic characters. Nothing

Creating A Blue Ocean Strategy
According to Michael Porter, a company strategist who understands that competition extends well
beyond existing rivals will detect wider competitive threats and be better equipped to address them
(Porter, 2008, p.16). Thinking comprehensively about the structure of the industry as well as its
customers can afford companies the ability to obtain superior performance. Therefore, it is key for
companies to focus on how to maintain existing customers as well as lure new ones.
Three tiers of non customers
As we have learned from our readings, to create a blue ocean strategy means to reach out to untapped
market space, demand creation, and the opportunity for highly profitable growth (Kim Mauborgne,
2005, p.4). These blue ocean strategies can exist beyond existing industries/markets or they can be
expanded upon in existing markets (red oceans). Either way, companies need to go beyond competing
(p.5). To do so companies should identify and attract non customers. The three tiers of non customers
identify different level of non customers companies can attract to convert them into new customers.
We will discuss these non customers as it applies to the Apple IPhone.
The first tier non customers are those smartphone users that are curious about the IPhone and
interested in possible switching. The launch of the IPhone 5 was geared towards two sets of buyers;
existing customers and first tier non customers. Both sets were disappointed with the previous IPhones
screen sizes. The

The Impact Of The San Francisco Earthquake Of 1906
The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 and Recovery.
What did the people of San Francisco suffer after the earthquake of 1906? In order to answer this
question, we need to know what the San Francisco earthquake was. The San Francisco earthquake
happened in 1906 with a magnitude of 7.8 and caused a fire that burned for 7 days. This was the
biggest recorded earthquake in San Francisco. The foreshock started at 5:12am and 25 seconds later
the earthquake started that lasted 40 to 60 seconds, with most San Franciscans asleep in rooms, they
became trapped with only their hope to save them. The earthquake and fire of San Francisco in 1906
will go down as one of the worst earthquakes in the United States history. It s after affects can still be
felt in the California area.
The San Francisco earthquake caused quite a lot of damage in the area, but what is an earthquake? An
earthquake is the movement of tectonic plates along a transform boundary and what plate is California
sitting on? The Pacific Plate which is not connected to the North American plate and the plate
boundary is a transform boundary. Earthquakes occur so often there that people say it is like a
rainstorm that is ignored. The place where the Pacific Plate is grinding along with the North American
Plate is called the San Andreas Fault. As stated before the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.8 which
caused so much destruction a fire broke out. Nobody really knows where the fire started but it burned
for 7 days and scorched over 500 city blocks leaving the once proud and powerful city into dust. The
combination of the earthquake and fire is said to have killed Over 700 deaths by the earthquake and
fire is now believed to be an understatement the total loss of life by a factor of 3 or 4. (The Great 1906
San Francisco Earthquake.)
Even before the earthquake people saw suspicious things with animals. For example, Lisa A.
Chippendale in her book The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, quoted Sergeant Cook who stated
The horses seemed skittish, frequently neighing and nervously pulling at their reins. Many people
were asleep in the time of the shock. By the first shock some shot up and tried to get their clothes on,
but their struggle was in vain, they could

options but the boundary binary options are the most preferred.

Measuring Volatility
Novices being introduced in Trading Boundary Binary Options might think they are risk free but they
are not. It is not even that easy as some may have led you to believe. However it cannot be that
gloomy after all. Trading Boundary binary Options revolve around the underlying asset and the nature
of the response generated by any major economic announcement forthcoming.
The importance of the underlying asset to the transaction is crucial and can be understood better by
measuring the volatility arising after an announcement. This volatility is measured by the Average
True Range. The average True Range discovered by the financial maverick J. Welles Wilder is merely
a technical analysis unpredictability pointer for goods or financial commodities. This is simply the
difference between the highest and the lowest bars while putting into consideration the gaps that lie in
between.
High volatility reflects heightened enthusiasm and can be reflected by wider boundaries and this
would be an ideal thing for a trader whose predictions were restrained inside the boundaries. Low
volatility means less trading enthusiasm and is characterized by narrower boundaries. This would be
sad news to any trader who was predicting a break out. Trader wishing to cash in on an In Boundary
Option would be disadvantaged by low volatility. A break out to the contrary would be an easy ride to
the bank as it only

What is a profession? The Oxford English Dictionary defines professions as that way of life/manner of
making a living that involves the application of a specialized knowledge of particular subjects, field,

For Wasserstrom, the lawyer client relationship is morally objectionable because it is a relationship
which the lawyer dominates allowing inevitably for a situation where the lawyer treats the client in
both an impersonal and a paternalistic fashion. He sees the lawyer as a professional, one that is
different from other professionals. He sees this profession to be more vulnerable to moral criticism
than any other.
In the Watergate affair, it was noted that most of the persons involved in the cover up were lawyers.
Wasserstrom proposes that it is not an accident, the fact that most of the characters involved belonged
to the legal profession; the fact is, lawyers see society through the eyes of one who understands the
labyrinth of legalities which made it rather easy for them to manipulate the affair and do what they
have done. For him, this was a good example of noting the intricacies of the lawyering profession,
particularly professionalism.
Wasserstrom holds that the core of the problem is professionalism and its role differentiated behavior.
Role differentiation refers to situations in which one s moral response will vary depending upon
whether one is acting in a personal capacity or in a professional, representative one. In one of his
examples, he illustrates that the way a parent would distribute assets among children who are strangers
would be morally different if it was being distributed among children whom they have reared and

Corruption Of Power In The Hunger Games
One theme that is present in almost all dystopian fiction is corrupted power. Often time, authors merge
away from utopia and use a dysfunctional society that only benefit those in charge, to work around
how corrupted power is established and held using social enforcement. Divergent and The Hunger
Games are both modern futuristic novels about revolution written by 21st century authors, Veronica
Roth and Suzanne Collins, which explore how corrupted power is achieved and upheld by: 1. The
separation of the populations into hierarchies, and 2. Distractions from the reality of their lives, and
withholding information through totalitarian governments. Although the two universes share the

The Games put physical and psychological suffrage upon the men, women, and children. The parents
are overwhelmed by the fact that they send their children out to die so they can bring some money
back for survival, which takes a great toll on their conscious and creates feelings of guilt which makes
them unlikely to rebel as they are having internal conflicts. The Games also make people prone and
desensitized to violence; this allows there to be peacekeepers and makes the games enjoyable!
Moreover, the Hunger Games are widely attended as a pleasurable entertainment, as Gale points out to
Katniss: Since that year half of them died of cold. Not much entertainment in that. It s true. We spent
one Hunger Games watching the players freeze to death at night. You could hardly see them because
they were just huddled in balls and had no wood for fires or torches or anything. It was considered
very anti climactic in the Capitol, all those quiet bloodless deaths (Collins 39). The emphasis is on the
entertainment of the watchers instead of the suffrage the tributes go through. The people of every

For the most part, America employs single member districts which means that the electorate only
chooses one representative from each district. During presidential elections, every state is given votes

legislators in multimember districts instead of single member districts, and the number of seats that a
party wins is proportional to the amount of its support among voters. For example, In Sweden 310
seats are allocated in 29 constituencies. This helps everyone s opinions and voices to be

President Theodore Roosevelt s New Nationalism
For numerous of reasons concerning economic, political, and social developments that has taken place
in four decades after the Civil War, sparked a revolutionary movement called Progressivism. In a new,
vast land full of economic opportunities, this created a small class of elitists that will dominate the
political system for self interest, and will also cause an effect on the social life of the majority. A
prominent, Progressive figure, was President Theodore Roosevelt; In his New Nationalism speech
delivered in Osawatomie, Kansas, he outlines the goals and ideals of Progressivism that will appeal to
the diverse majority of Americans and proves to be the foundation for future reformers and several
accepting ideals still utilized today. Even though the Progressive movement deteriorated, these radical
ideals sought to improve and benefit the society as a whole was the stepping stone for the future
generations. At the time, America was undergoing through one of the most revolutionary time period
of United States history, the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was the vast
advancement of technology, that has become part of Americans daily life and still today. These
technologies helped the improvement in efficiencies of the workforce. A vital source for the economic
advancement during this time period, was the encouragement from the government for private
enterprise. Enterprises were more easily established due the monetary policy, in which allowed a

Essay On Cervical Cancer
Introduction
The cells in our bodies all have certain jobs to do. Normal cells divide in an orderly way. They die
when they are damaged, and new cells take their place. Cancer is when the cells start to growth out of
control, meanly know as malignancy. The cancer cells keep on growing and making new cells. They
crowd out normal cells. This causes problems in the part of the body where the cancer started. Cancer
is not just one disease. There are many types of cancer. Cancer can start in the lungs, the breast, the
colon, or even in the blood. Cancers are alike in some ways, but they are different in the ways they
grow and spread. The most common types of cancer in the U.S are; Bladder cancer, Breast cancer,

Start a sexual active life at an early age, and have sex with different sexual partners follows as a risk
factor. HIV, multiple pregnancy, and the birth control pills, are others risk factors associated to the
cervical cancer. Smoking is an important risk factor, nicotine has been found in the cervical mucus; it
increases the possibilities to develop cervical cancer by weakening the immune system and the person
is more susceptible to be infected by HPV (American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology,
2010). In thinking about risk factors, it helps to focus on those you can change or avoid (like smoking
or human papilloma virus infection), rather than those you cannot (such as your age and family
history). However, it is still important to know about risk factors that cannot be changed, because it s
even more important for women who have these factors to get regular Pap tests to detect cervical
cancer early.
The NHS (National Health Service) Cervical Screening Program began in 1988, the rate of women
diagnosed with cervical cancer in the United Kingdom has halved from 16 per 100,000 in 1988 to 8
per 100,000. (See image 1A, page

The Pros And Cons Of The Seebeck Effect
Energy loss is a problem encountered in every industrial process and everyday technology take power
stations for example. Electricity is generated by heat engines by which gas or steam powered turbines
convert the heat to mechanical energy then into electricity, however 70% of this energy is lost as heat
energy. Similarly in all electronics devices energy is lost through heat.
So we know that electricity creates heat mainly because or electrical devices warm up during its use.
But imagine how useful it would be to generate electricity from this heat created, in other words using
this lost energy which is in the form of heat to generate electricity so eventually you d be using every
bit of energy to generate electric power. This objective can be reached by applying the Seebeck Effect.
The seebeck effect is a phenomenon by which a temperature difference between two conductors or
semiconductors of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It all started in 1981 when a German physicist called Thomas Johann Seebeck accidently found that a
compass magnet would deflect when a circuit with two different metals with different temperature
junction. He concluded that that there is an induced electric current in the circuit that deflected the
magnet according to ampere s law. So the voltage that was due to the difference in temperature drives
the current in a closed circuit.
In order To measure this voltage, a second conductor material which generates a different voltage
under the same temperature gradient must be used. Otherwise, if the same material is used for
measurement, the voltage generated by the measuring conductor would simply cancel that of the first
conductor. The voltage difference generated by the two materials can then be measured and related to
the corresponding temperature gradient. It is thus clear that, based on Seebeck s principle;
thermocouples can only measure temperature differences and need a known reference temperature to
yield the absolute

Pcr Technology Lab Report
Name: Katelynn Maxwell Date: December 8, 2014
Abstract
The purpose of the PCR Technology experiment was to determine the size of each of our visible DNA
fragments as well as approximating the amount of tandem repeats our DNA has. In order to determine
all that did, we started by spitting in a tube and then spinning our cheek cells in a clinical centrifuge.
Once the centrifuge was done spinning our cells, we placed them into a microfuge. Later, we put the
microfuge into a boiling bath as well as ice. We obtained a PCR tube with a bead and then added
contents to it and had it placed in a thermal cycler. We also created a ladder as well as positive and
negative controls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Using Technologic Innovation as a Competitive Advantage
Innovation technology
Part 1 The technological community is evolving at a rapid pace, generating change within the entire
economy and forcing the other domains and sectors to also develop alongside. Within its internal
context, the technological field is a highly complex one, not only due to the complexity of the
innovations, but also due to the implications they generate, such as ongoing change, the need to
integrate the innovations for multiple benefits or the competition intensified by the technology. In such
an intricate setting, the firms have to continually develop and implement strategies by which to
increase the value of their technology and become the dominant designs within the industries in which
they operate. This objective can be attained through a series of efforts, all of them derived from the
features of the technologic innovation, but tailored to the specifics of each firm. In other words, the
firms will all have to develop their own models by which to use technologic innovation as a
competitive advantage, but some pointers in this direction can nevertheless be offered. One notable
example in this sense is represented by the focus of the firm on the collection of information from the
external environment, and its integration within the internal environment of the firm. With the new
and currently updated information, the firm can better support its efforts of technologic innovation and
the creation of competitive and commercial advantages through

The And The Colonists Of The Americas
The original motivations for the Spaniards going to the New World were to spread Christianity and
grow wealthy; however, when they arrived, the actions of the Spaniards against the natives of the
Americas did not reflect these original goals and led to unanticipated consequences. One such
unexpected consequence was a reliance on slave labor. In order to accomplish the work necessary to
make the profits that the Spaniards had expected, they turned to the natives as a work force. This need
for laborers led the Spanish to enslave the natives, which led to conflict and cruelty, which went
against the initial goal of spreading Christianity; if the prospective converts are being mistreated by
those hoping to do the converting, the conversion itself becomes much more difficult due to the
negative relationship. The Spaniards strongly believed that it was their sacred duty to save the
faithless natives of the Americas by introducing them to God, and so they did all they could to see this
happen, despite the negative impacts on the relationship between the natives and the Spaniards. This
also made it more difficult to easily exploit the resources of the region against the wishes of the
natives, because the growing bitterness between the Spanish and the natives made it impossible to
successfully work together in an economic setting in the same way as the Dutch and the French. Thus,
the actions of the Spaniards upon reaching the New World worked mostly against their original goals

Nicotine Cell Proliferation And Invasion
Journal Assignment 2
Background
Purpose of the research
The purpose of this research is to show that nicotine induces cell proliferation and invasion as well as
epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), even though nicotine is not carcinogenic on its own.
These series of inductions of mechanisms lead to lung cancer as well as breast cancer and pancreatic
cancer.
Type of cells chosen for study
The lung cancer cells especially in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are the primary target cells for
this study. In addition to the lung cancer cells, the human breast cancer cells and pancreatic cancer
cells are selected for the study in order to compare and confirm the similar activities of the gene
expression and mechanism that induce these cancers.
Background of the topic
Nicotine is the primary component of tobacco products, which causes addiction and can eventually
lead to lung cancer through series of metabolic activities. (http://www.carcinogenesis.com/article.asp?
issn=1477 3163;year=2013;volume=12;issue=1;spage=1;epage=1;aulast=Warren ) Nicotine, which
results from cigarette smoking, is found to be the major cause of lung cancer. Non small cell lung
cancer (NSCLC) is referred to as a type of lung cancer that is associated with epithelial cells
(http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/treatment/non small cell lung/healthprofessional/page1 ).
The lung is covered by layers of epithelial cells connected with junctions that provide the function of
transporting and secreting

History Of The Clarinet Essay
The clarinet is a woodwind instrament consisting of a cylindrical wood, metal, or ebonite pipe with a
bell shaped opening at one end and a mouthpiece at the other end, to which a thin reed is attached. The
clarinet has five different sections, the mouthpiece, the barrel, the upper section, the lower section, and
the bell. The length of the entire instrument is 60 cm long. The mouthpiece section consists of a
slotted cylinder, to which a reed is attached by a metal clamp called a ligature. The mouthpiece plugs
into the next section which is a barrel. The barrel is simply a connecting cylinder to which the
mouthpiece and the upper section plugs into. The upper section is a cylindrical pipe consisting of 4
holes and 9 keys placed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the mid eighteenth century, the five key clarinet became standard. In 1844, the clarinet was further
revised into what we know of it today.
Around the beginning of the eighteenth century, a German instrument maker, Johann Christoff Denner
invented the clarinet by improving the chalumeau. He did this by doubling the length of the
chalumeau and adding two keys. The clarinet slowly acquired more keys during the eighteenth
century. By 1750 the five key clarinet was the standard. In 1844, two french musicians, Louis
Augustine Buffet and Hyacinthe Klosé made the most significant improvement in the instruments
history. They applied the Boehm flute key system to the clarinet. This was done by placing each hole
in different places so that each note would have the same tone quality. Then, they devised a key
system that would cover all the holes. The improvements were a success, and the newly revised
instrument became popular all over the world.
The clarinet produces sound when air passes over the reed. The reed then vibrates, causing the flowing
air to vibrate, thus producing sound. The air then exits the nearest opening. The farther the air travels
before exiting, the deeper and lower the note will be. To produce a wide variety of notes, the clarinet
has many keys and holes. Pressing different combinations of keys will result in different notes.
Since the clarinet is a very

The Effects Of Down Syndrome
Children are our future; our future scientists, doctors, teachers, president and so much more. It is hard
not to notice the number of young parents nowadays that have children. the average age range for
mothers giving birth is 20 34. With the current up rise of babies being born to young mothers, I could
not help but think about how age plays a factor into birth effects. Down syndrome is the most common
single cause of human birth defects. The most common form of Down syndrome is known as trisomy
21, a genetic condition where individuals have 47 chromosomes in each cell instead of 46. Trisomy 21
is caused by an error in cell division called nondisjunction, which leaves a sperm or egg cell with an
extra copy of chromosome 21 before or at conception. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Platelet Confusion
Platelet transfusion
There is no fixed platelet count threshold in ICU patients that signals platelet transfusion (93), but
because of hemorrhage fear there is a widespread notion that the platelet count should be maintained
over 100X109/L in massive bleeding or when bleeding occurs at dangerous sites such as in
intracranial hemorrhage (94).
In addition to platelet count, the risk of hemorrhage is also dependent on the hematocrit and the
bleeding time (95). So, red blood cell transfusion should also be considered as a part of a supportive
therapy, if needed (17).
Despite these recommendations, it should be born in mind that platelet transfusion is not a risk free
procedure and may cause several potentially fatal complications such as contamination,

Channel Island Research Paper
I jumped out of bed on today, June 19, eagerly waiting when I would finally arrive at the Channel
Islands National Park. I have been researching this park for some time, and I couldn t believe that I
was going to spend a few days on these wonderful islands. I got together my tent and my supplies, and
I sooner or later headed out the door.
The boat arrived bright and early, and I spent this time going over research. I read that this park
became a National Park on March 5, 1980. It became a national park due to it attracting many
explorers, scientists, and historians. It is also established because of its natural beauty. To conclude, I
read that there are nine islands, but only five became part of the National Park. When the boat reached

This is the campsite on Santa Barbara Island. A deer mouse scurried out of my tent as I was getting
ready for bed. This endangered species interested me greatly. As I arose that morning, I enjoyed the
sound of waves. I decided to go to Santa Rosa for my last day in the Channel Islands National Park. I
took an early boat to this island. I was mournful that I couldn t go to all five islands, but I knew that I
can t extend my trip.
When I got off of the boat, I headed to a historic site that I had read about. This place was called Vail
and Vickers Island Ranch. It is about 100 years old and it used to hold 3,000 to 7,000 cattle at a time!
For the rest of the day, I just kind of wandered around the green filled trails.
When I arrived on the boat home, I was very unhappy to be leaving this national park. I had such a
good time! I realized then why these beautiful islands are a national treasure. I got a chance to walk
where early Europeans did. Also, all five islands have unique landmarks and animals that no other
place has. Lastly, the views are breathtaking. I felt so pleased that I got to visit this national park, and I
hope that I can come back

  • 2. Identifying As A Sexual Minority Identifying as a sexual minority can be as isolating as it can be a communal experience. Sexual identities tend to exist in flux as individuals begin to grow understand more about themselves, their preferences, and the labels they may or may not choose to adopt. Unfortunately, this explorative process is not always encouraged when these same individuals encounter heteronormative expectations for their life and behavior. Access to Internet communities comprised of individuals with varying sexual identities, rupture these localized cultural boundaries and insert varying queer identities. Their offline setting may prevent the chance for self discovery in a way that is vital to their health during major stages of development; however, their participation in communities online allow for the formation of identities otherwise unrepresented in the physical reality they see around them. Within this paper, the umbrella term queer will be used to encompass many different sexual identities mentioned. While once used as a derogatory term, it has been rebranded and revitalized as a term of unification for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In order to prevent erasure of the narrative of subsets of members within the larger queer community, their identities will be included. When discussing the larger implications of the development of sexual minority identification, queer will be employed. The formation of sexual identities is a layered and often lengthy process. Unfortunately, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Field Of Educational Psychology Snowman, Jack (1997) defined educational psychology as a branch of psychology concerned with the scientific study of human learning. The study of learning processes, from both cognitive and behavioral perspectives, allows researchers to understand individual differences in intelligence, cognitive development, affect, motivation, self regulation, and self concept, as well as their role in learning. The field of educational psychology relies heavily on quantitative methods, including testing and measurement, to enhance educational activities related to instructional design, classroom management, and assessment, which serve to facilitate learning processes in various educational settings across the lifespan. In the period before 1890 many scientists contributed to the field by examining and classifying the method of education such as Juan Vives (1492 1540) his contribution in supporting the education of women, recommended the study of nature and advocated induction method of study. Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1782 1853) the foundation father of the kindergarten movement. Austin Sheldon (1823 1897) the leader of founding public schools and normal schools. Francis Parker (1837 1902) the father of progressive education which influenced by Pestalozzi and Forebel. Germany s population (82 million people), is the largest population in the European Union, although the population has declined in the past decade by 2 million people. On the German flag, the colours red, black and yellow all represent something. The first stripe, (black) is meant to represent determination. The second stripe (red) represents many concepts such as hardiness, bravery, strength and valour. The last horizontal stripe (gold/yellow) it represents Generosity. Political History of Germany In 1848, Germany was divided into 39 separate states that had experienced a number of revolutions in many parts of the country. The revolutionaries tried to force their rulers to allow greater political freedom and tried to unify the separate states into one country. By 1849 the revolutionaries had been ceased across Germany and kings and princes regained their power. Liberal nationalists all over Germany now saw the chance to create a new united Germany. These liberal national Politicians met in Frankfurt at the new preliminary parliament (vorparliment) to make arrangements for setting up the new constitutional law. Due to this, the economy had experienced significant changes in the1850s and 1860s. • 5. Martin Luther s Theology Of The Cross Furthermore, Luther s Theology of the cross helps us to see God incarnate, with us, Emmanuel, even in the suffering and death of the crucified one, God s only son, Jesus. It is in this suffering that we know that God is with us. In a very human way, God takes on the fate of the world, to destroy human flesh through Jesus, the incarnation. God does change, suffer and die. It is God alone, and nothing we do. God does all the heavy lifting for our sake, and it is a gift. There is much more benefits that come with the exposure to the sun than harm. Vitamin D that our body produces when we are exposed to the sun is very efficient in curing so many diseases. It protects from arthritis, diabetes, infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis and some kinds of cancer, just to name a few. It has been proven that the Earth s atmosphere blocks 98.7 percent of the sun s UV rays. The other 2.3 percent that we are exposed to, have both beneficial and harmful effects. The people that live in the warm places, where the vitamin D is produced all year round, don t get sick as often (Holick, 2008). Approximately 150,000 babies born in the United States every year are affected by birth defects, at least 25 percent of those birth defects are environmentally caused (Birth Defects Statistics). Not only do birth defects affect thousands of babies, other developmental problems such as low birth weight and preterm labor also have an effect on a staggering number of children. • 12. Arranged Marriages In America Throughout society, marriage is seen as a special symbol of two people becoming one. In the eastern side of the world, arranged marriages are very common. It is not like the western world where couples date to know each other then choose whether they are the perfect match. Arranged marriages are often chosen by the elders in the family. This practice has been handed down for centuries. Throughout the marriage process, there are certain procedures that must be followed in eastern matchmaking. Once a match has been chosen, the couple will learn over time that commitment and acceptance comes prior to emotions and happiness. Even though our western ways may seem normal to us, the traditions of eastern marriages are custom through procedure, commitment and acceptance within their society. While every traditional marriage may be different, the eastern custom has chosen to abide by long established procedures. These procedures consist of family members who decide on what is best for their offspring. The decisions which are considered range from family values, education, wealth, and physical appearance. Certainly, after reading the play titled King Henry V originally written by William Shakespeare and edited by Andrew Gurr, I concluded that certain situations in this book correspond to several aspects in this world. For instance, it can connect to many events that occurred during the 1590s, the time period in which this play was written. On the other hand, King Henry V struggles with the concept that he is liable for his men s souls and has to implement rules that do not bestow him with personal gains. In fact, he had difficulty in hanging his best friend Bardolph because he stole a religious pax which was forbidden in his country (Gurr III vi. 35). While they both encounter various aspects of being leaders, they additionally correspond with each another in the fact that they insist on being feared by their men than loved. To illustrate, the Prince proclaimed that he would preferably be feared because although people love you now they will only turn on you in the future (Machiavelli 91). Moreover, because love may cease, but being feared never will (Machiavelli 91). However, King Henry V s men worry that all he wants for them is to be executed (Gurr IV.i). In regards, King Henry did not want to be responsible for their actions because they make pilgrimages and ultimately decided to enlist in his army which in turn contributes to the fact of being feared and not loved (Gurr IV.i). Chekhov strongly faulted the directors interpretation that the play should be preformed as a tragedy and insisted that what he had written was a comedy. The famous philosopher Aristotle defined a comedy as quot;an imitation of characters of a lower type who are not bad in themselves but whose faults possess something ludicrous in them. quot; The misinterpretation of The Cherry Orchard could be mainly due to a misunderstanding of the comic character. The main theme of the play can be generally taken to be the passing of the old order of Russian society, symbolized by the sale of the cherry orchard. Since Chekhov did not belong to the ranks of the Ranevsky family, unlike other authors who had written plays on the same theme, Chekhov wrote The Cherry Orchard without becoming personally involved. • 15. Creating A Blue Ocean Strategy According to Michael Porter, a company strategist who understands that competition extends well beyond existing rivals will detect wider competitive threats and be better equipped to address them (Porter, 2008, p.16). Thinking comprehensively about the structure of the industry as well as its customers can afford companies the ability to obtain superior performance. Therefore, it is key for companies to focus on how to maintain existing customers as well as lure new ones. Three tiers of non customers As we have learned from our readings, to create a blue ocean strategy means to reach out to untapped market space, demand creation, and the opportunity for highly profitable growth (Kim Mauborgne, 2005, p.4). These blue ocean strategies can exist beyond existing industries/markets or they can be expanded upon in existing markets (red oceans). Either way, companies need to go beyond competing (p.5). To do so companies should identify and attract non customers. The three tiers of non customers identify different level of non customers companies can attract to convert them into new customers. • 16. The Impact Of The San Francisco Earthquake Of 1906 The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 and Recovery. What did the people of San Francisco suffer after the earthquake of 1906? In order to answer this question, we need to know what the San Francisco earthquake was. The San Francisco earthquake happened in 1906 with a magnitude of 7.8 and caused a fire that burned for 7 days. This was the biggest recorded earthquake in San Francisco. The foreshock started at 5:12am and 25 seconds later the earthquake started that lasted 40 to 60 seconds, with most San Franciscans asleep in rooms, they became trapped with only their hope to save them. The earthquake and fire of San Francisco in 1906 will go down as one of the worst earthquakes in the United States history. It s after affects can still be felt in the California area. The San Francisco earthquake caused quite a lot of damage in the area, but what is an earthquake? An earthquake is the movement of tectonic plates along a transform boundary and what plate is California sitting on? The Pacific Plate which is not connected to the North American plate and the plate boundary is a transform boundary. Earthquakes occur so often there that people say it is like a rainstorm that is ignored. The place where the Pacific Plate is grinding along with the North American Plate is called the San Andreas Fault. As stated before the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.8 which caused so much destruction a fire broke out. Nobody really knows where the fire started but it burned for 7 days and scorched over 500 city blocks leaving the once proud and powerful city into dust. The combination of the earthquake and fire is said to have killed Over 700 deaths by the earthquake and fire is now believed to be an understatement the total loss of life by a factor of 3 or 4. (The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.) Even before the earthquake people saw suspicious things with animals. For example, Lisa A. Chippendale in her book The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, quoted Sergeant Cook who stated The horses seemed skittish, frequently neighing and nervously pulling at their reins. Many people were asleep in the time of the shock. By the first shock some shot up and tried to get their clothes on, but their struggle was in vain, they could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Binary options are indeed high risk transactions where predictions are made on the movement of the price within a particular specified period. The payoff is either the asset or a huge loss. There are several trade types of binary options but the boundary binary options are the most preferred. Measuring Volatility Novices being introduced in Trading Boundary Binary Options might think they are risk free but they are not. It is not even that easy as some may have led you to believe. However it cannot be that gloomy after all. Trading Boundary binary Options revolve around the underlying asset and the nature of the response generated by any major economic announcement forthcoming. The importance of the underlying asset to the transaction is crucial and can be understood better by measuring the volatility arising after an announcement. This volatility is measured by the Average True Range. The average True Range discovered by the financial maverick J. Welles Wilder is merely a technical analysis unpredictability pointer for goods or financial commodities. This is simply the difference between the highest and the lowest bars while putting into consideration the gaps that lie in between. High volatility reflects heightened enthusiasm and can be reflected by wider boundaries and this would be an ideal thing for a trader whose predictions were restrained inside the boundaries. Low volatility means less trading enthusiasm and is characterized by narrower boundaries. This would be sad news to any trader who was predicting a break out. Trader wishing to cash in on an In Boundary Option would be disadvantaged by low volatility. A break out to the contrary would be an easy ride to the bank as it only ... The Oxford English Dictionary defines professions as that way of life/manner of making a living that involves the application of a specialized knowledge of particular subjects, field, or science to fee paying clientele. Examples of professions include nursing, architecture, medicine and engineering. Although journalism has some characteristics of a profession, for Merrill it cannot be considered a profession due to the fact that journalists do not have a direct relationship with their clients, there are no entry requirements and they do not follow a prescribed code of ethics or a standard way by which their ... For Wasserstrom, the lawyer client relationship is morally objectionable because it is a relationship which the lawyer dominates allowing inevitably for a situation where the lawyer treats the client in both an impersonal and a paternalistic fashion. He sees the lawyer as a professional, one that is different from other professionals. He sees this profession to be more vulnerable to moral criticism than any other. In the Watergate affair, it was noted that most of the persons involved in the cover up were lawyers. Wasserstrom proposes that it is not an accident, the fact that most of the characters involved belonged to the legal profession; the fact is, lawyers see society through the eyes of one who understands the labyrinth of legalities which made it rather easy for them to manipulate the affair and do what they have done. For him, this was a good example of noting the intricacies of the lawyering profession, particularly professionalism. Wasserstrom holds that the core of the problem is professionalism and its role differentiated behavior. Role differentiation refers to situations in which one s moral response will vary depending upon whether one is acting in a personal capacity or in a professional, representative one. In one of his examples, he illustrates that the way a parent would distribute assets among children who are strangers would be morally different if it was being distributed among children whom they have reared and ... Often time, authors merge away from utopia and use a dysfunctional society that only benefit those in charge, to work around how corrupted power is established and held using social enforcement. Divergent and The Hunger Games are both modern futuristic novels about revolution written by 21st century authors, Veronica Roth and Suzanne Collins, which explore how corrupted power is achieved and upheld by: 1. The separation of the populations into hierarchies, and 2. Distractions from the reality of their lives, and withholding information through totalitarian governments. The parents are overwhelmed by the fact that they send their children out to die so they can bring some money back for survival, which takes a great toll on their conscious and creates feelings of guilt which makes them unlikely to rebel as they are having internal conflicts. The Games also make people prone and desensitized to violence; this allows there to be peacekeepers and makes the games enjoyable! Moreover, the Hunger Games are widely attended as a pleasurable entertainment, as Gale points out to Katniss: Since that year half of them died of cold. Not much entertainment in that. It s true. We spent one Hunger Games watching the players freeze to death at night. You could hardly see them because they were just huddled in balls and had no wood for fires or torches or anything. It was considered very anti climactic in the Capitol, all those quiet bloodless deaths (Collins 39). • 23. The Pros And Cons Of The Seebeck Effect Energy loss is a problem encountered in every industrial process and everyday technology take power stations for example. Electricity is generated by heat engines by which gas or steam powered turbines convert the heat to mechanical energy then into electricity, however 70% of this energy is lost as heat energy. Similarly in all electronics devices energy is lost through heat. So we know that electricity creates heat mainly because or electrical devices warm up during its use. But imagine how useful it would be to generate electricity from this heat created, in other words using this lost energy which is in the form of heat to generate electricity so eventually you d be using every bit of energy to generate electric power. This objective can be reached by applying the Seebeck Effect. The seebeck effect is a phenomenon by which a temperature difference between two conductors or semiconductors of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all started in 1981 when a German physicist called Thomas Johann Seebeck accidently found that a compass magnet would deflect when a circuit with two different metals with different temperature junction. He concluded that that there is an induced electric current in the circuit that deflected the magnet according to ampere s law. So the voltage that was due to the difference in temperature drives the current in a closed circuit. In order To measure this voltage, a second conductor material which generates a different voltage under the same temperature gradient must be used. Otherwise, if the same material is used for measurement, the voltage generated by the measuring conductor would simply cancel that of the first conductor. The voltage difference generated by the two materials can then be measured and related to the corresponding temperature gradient. It is thus clear that, based on Seebeck s principle; thermocouples can only measure temperature differences and need a known reference temperature to yield the absolute ... Using Technologic Innovation as a Competitive Advantage Innovation technology Part 1 The technological community is evolving at a rapid pace, generating change within the entire economy and forcing the other domains and sectors to also develop alongside. Within its internal context, the technological field is a highly complex one, not only due to the complexity of the innovations, but also due to the implications they generate, such as ongoing change, the need to integrate the innovations for multiple benefits or the competition intensified by the technology. In such an intricate setting, the firms have to continually develop and implement strategies by which to increase the value of their technology and become the dominant designs within the industries in which they operate. This objective can be attained through a series of efforts, all of them derived from the features of the technologic innovation, but tailored to the specifics of each firm. In other words, the firms will all have to develop their own models by which to use technologic innovation as a competitive advantage, but some pointers in this direction can nevertheless be offered. One notable example in this sense is represented by the focus of the firm on the collection of information from the external environment, and its integration within the internal environment of the firm. With the new and currently updated information, the firm can better support its efforts of technologic innovation and the creation of competitive and commercial advantages through ... • 26. The And The Colonists Of The Americas The original motivations for the Spaniards going to the New World were to spread Christianity and grow wealthy; however, when they arrived, the actions of the Spaniards against the natives of the Americas did not reflect these original goals and led to unanticipated consequences. One such unexpected consequence was a reliance on slave labor. In order to accomplish the work necessary to make the profits that the Spaniards had expected, they turned to the natives as a work force. This need for laborers led the Spanish to enslave the natives, which led to conflict and cruelty, which went against the initial goal of spreading Christianity; if the prospective converts are being mistreated by those hoping to do the converting, the conversion itself becomes much more difficult due to the negative relationship. The Spaniards strongly believed that it was their sacred duty to save the faithless natives of the Americas by introducing them to God, and so they did all they could to see this happen, despite the negative impacts on the relationship between the natives and the Spaniards. This also made it more difficult to easily exploit the resources of the region against the wishes of the natives, because the growing bitterness between the Spanish and the natives made it impossible to successfully work together in an economic setting in the same way as the Dutch and the French. Thus, the actions of the Spaniards upon reaching the New World worked mostly against their original goals of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mouthpiece section consists of a slotted cylinder, to which a reed is attached by a metal clamp called a ligature. The mouthpiece plugs into the next section which is a barrel. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the mid eighteenth century, the five key clarinet became standard. In 1844, the clarinet was further revised into what we know of it today. Around the beginning of the eighteenth century, a German instrument maker, Johann Christoff Denner invented the clarinet by improving the chalumeau. He did this by doubling the length of the chalumeau and adding two keys. The clarinet slowly acquired more keys during the eighteenth century. By 1750 the five key clarinet was the standard. In 1844, two french musicians, Louis Augustine Buffet and Hyacinthe Klosé made the most significant improvement in the instruments history. They applied the Boehm flute key system to the clarinet. This was done by placing each hole in different places so that each note would have the same tone quality. Then, they devised a key system that would cover all the holes. The improvements were a success, and the newly revised instrument became popular all over the world. The clarinet produces sound when air passes over the reed. The reed then vibrates, causing the flowing air to vibrate, thus producing sound. The air then exits the nearest opening. The farther the air travels before exiting, the deeper and lower the note will be. To produce a wide variety of notes, the clarinet has many keys and holes. Pressing different combinations of keys will result in different notes. Since the clarinet is a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
