Florence
Florence is home to many wonderful painters and artists during the renaissance. The one who did
the ceiling of the cathedral that is shown is Giorgio Vasari. he was a renaissance painter, architect,
and author. This artifact shows how extravagant they had gotten with their art, using perspective,
shading and the influences of humanism to paint. This shows the true art of this time period.
Why was Florence important?
Florence is arguably the starting place of the renaissance. With many different artists there, the
Medici Family in control and a very strong trading system, it was a very powerful city state during
the renaissance. During this time, the feudal system was no more. The people in ... Show more

Wittenberg is the town that the reformation started in. This is where the catholic church was that
Martin Luther nailed the these on the door to. With that, many people became Lutheran in this city
and the catholic church did not like that. A lot of the reformation took place here because it was the
starting point.
This artifact is in Libon. This statue is dedicated to Henry the Navigator. He sent a lot of people
to go discover parts of the new world. Because of Henry the Navigator, Portugal conquered Brazil.
He was very important to Portugal and the exploration era.
Why was Lisbon Important?
Lisbon is the main area that Henry the Navigator sent out his ships to discover the new world.
This became a very popular trading depot because of its location and finding new things during
exploration. This was a place where the Colombian Exchange happened, especially with what is
now Brazil. This is also where Ferdinand Magellan set off to sail completely around the earth.
The Lamentation by Scorpion Pulzone shows exactly what Rome was like during the counter
reformation. This painting shows how the catholic church wanted the art to look. They wanted all
art to be focused on Jesus Christ and his Resurrection. During the counter reformation, the Catholic
Church tried to bring all the attention back onto God. They wanted God to be the main focus, as
seen in this painting, not anything

The Importance Of Human Factor In Health
Human factor explores the potential and limitation of an individual in their workplace to ensure
safety, effectiveness and quality. Human factor or ergonomics plays a vital role to control patient
safety and quality in the intensive care unit (ICU) as it contributes to adverse events. By
acknowledging human factor and its impact on quality and safety in health care, nurses along with
other health care professionals will be able to create a safer environment for practice and a
productive workforce. This paper intends to identify human factor in health care and establish their
correlation with quality and patient safety. To begin with, this paper has divided human factor into
physical, cognitive and organizational and examines their relationship to quality and patient safety
in intensive care unit. In the intensive care unit, every plan and action of all the health care team
such as doctors, nurses, nursing supervisor, anesthesiologist and interns can be a factor to
determine a life or death situation, as all the patient are in a critical and physically vulnerable
condition. It is very crucial to take factor that influence patient safety and quality of care into
consideration, especially human factor and ergonomics in order to have better patient outcome and
improve recovery; clinicians, leaders and management should be able to acknowledge this (Carayon
et al., 2013; Gurses et al.,2012b; Institute of Medicine, 2012). Firstly, the physical human factor and
ergonomics include

Individualism Vs Collectivism
When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would
be the polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should
be viewed as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of
what most citizens deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black
Sabbath s song War Pigs, in which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the
government, treating people just like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a
collective view of their population tend to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often
seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler (Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess.
Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or perhaps billions, of individuals according to
individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective body in the case of collectivism.
Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a screen) to the governing
bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings whose feelings and
opinions matter. Rather that accepting a mob rules mentality, these governments choose to
manipulate the people to be the collective they want them to be. A worthy modern example would
be North Korea, in which Kim Jong Un sees his people as a wave of biological matter. North
Koreans are forced to wear certain clothes, have certain haircuts, and essentially

The Legacy Of Louisiana Purchase
Louisiana Purchase, more prominently known as an acquisition that doubled the size of the country
we reside in, was much more than just a simple purchase, much less an easy one. Thomas Jefferson
had to consider all the aspects, consequences, and effects that the decision of buying 2,144,500
square kilometers of land would have on the country (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). This
purchase brought many improvements to the country, but also had unexpected consequences that
would transform the country as a whole. Although Jefferson s decision was considered a mistake
by some Federalists and caused conflicts with Spain, it was actually a step forward towards the
respectable and prosperous country that many had envisioned the United Statesto be because it
doubled the magnitude of opportunities, solved the initial conflict of attaining the port of New
Orleans (thus continuing trade), removed France s colonial power from North America, which
made the United States the dominant influence in North America and, most significantly, secured
new western territory, which led to westward expansion (Loos).
The Louisiana Purchase, by doubling the size of the country, also doubled the size of opportunities
overnight, becoming a pull factor for the residents of the country and people Asia and Europe. This
led to more economic opportunities and an assimilation of more cultures. The United States became
ever more prosperous through this purchase, but with every decision there are unexpected

Coping Mechanism of Families with Autistic Children
CHAPTER 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that affects the brain s development of social and
communication skills and said to be a behaviorally defined condition. (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) a
person with autism has to deal with great consequences due to the different adjustments they have
to follow. Along with the stress felt by the autistic person, their families are the ones who should
handle the responsibilities in raising their autistic children. Since they have to raise the children
with a disability, a big burden corresponds to the adjustment they have to initiate to their autistic
child and for the whole family as well. Their responsibility is even more difficult since there are ...

With these two principles constantly followed, the family functions well and accordingly and
benefits the whole family and each member. But raising a child with autism can create great
emotional stress and can fully affect the family s system and interaction because of the problems
related to autism. For the family to form their organized family life cycle they must go through
different adjustments and adaptation for the family s development, applying the third principle that
says that any system functions as an organized whole.
Research Paradigm
Raising a child who has been diagnosed with autism can be a very challenging role for any
family. Since they are the ones who are primarily responsible for dealing with the needs of the
child with a disability, they also have to deal with great stress regarding the autistic child. The
presence of a child with a disability may involve some difficult adjustments for the rest of the
family.
Different effects are implied to the whole family, changes in family roles are highly affected and
because of this they have to reorganize the family s functioning and activities. Autism affects the
enormously, they are challenged physically, mentally, emotionally and financially as well.
Everyday things have to be carefully planned and executed. Families are somehow put into

A moment of nostalgia may set in if you think back to your early childhood. Most of us have a
favorite cartoon and chances are it s probably one created by Walt Disney. A man from humble
beginnings, grew to be one of the most influential entrepreneurs in film history. Early life for
Disney was a bit complicated he dropped out of high school at the age of 16. He wanted to join
the army during WW1 but due to his age he was rejected, Walt was able to serve in the Red

The Three Levels Of United States Federal Courts
The United States Federal Court comprises of three fundamental levels: the district courts, the
circuit courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States. The district courts are federal trial
courts, the first appeals go to the circuit courts, and the final appeals go to the Supreme Court of the
United States. Furthermore, these three levels of courts handle both civil and criminal matters.
Each has diverse result. It is essentials to know the fundamental data of three levels of the United

Ltc Case Study
People who live in the long term care (LTC) facilities fall more frequently, more than any other
environment. Falls in LTC have been on going huge problem for more than a decade now.
According to Center of Disease Control (CDC, 2009) each year, a typical nursing home with 100
beds reports 100 to 200 falls. Many fallgo unreported. Between half and three quarters of nursing
homeresidents fall each year. That s twice the rate of falls among older adults living in the
community.
Fall in LTC is very serious because most of these patients they fall multiple times in a one year
calendar. This falls end up causing permanent injury, disability and death. According to CDC about
1800 people living in the nursing home die from falls each year and about ... Show more content on

I do believe that most of us, do know that most of people living in the LTC are 65 years old and
above .Most of these people have muscle weakness, impaired vision, decrease mobility and have
some kind of memory impaired problems. But is the above reasons enough for elder peoples in the
LTC continue to fall and sustain permanent injures and losing their life due to falls? What are the
system doing to stop or to reduce these falls? Where are our interventions?
Main factors why people in LTC experience a lot of falls includes muscle weakness ,balance
problems, medication side effects, loss of sensation and vision ,memory loss and environmental
factors.
What kind of interventions are currently available to prevent falls or injury? Most of LTC facility
they fall risk assessment for every new admission and all patients post fall. Other intervention
includes patient and staff education, medication review, exercises program and sometimes they
uses bed and chair alarm if necessary. According Willy Osterberg (2014) any fall interventions that
are used must be matched to each individual s risk factors and initiated before the fall occurs.my
biggest question is ,are these interventions being effective ?if the answer is yes ,are the number of

D. Plagiarism It is important to learn from the work of others and you are encouraged to explore
the library, World Wide Web resources and have discussions with other students. However, work
for the assessment must be entirely your own work. *Important* Plagiarism is the presentation
of the expressed thought or work of another person as though it is one s own without properly
acknowledging that person. You must not allow other students to copy your work and must take
care to safeguard against this happening. In cases of copying, normally all students involved will
be penalised equally; an exception will be if you can demonstrate the work is your own and you
took reasonable care to safeguard against copying. Plagiarism is a serious offence. As set out in
the University Regulation 6.1.1. students who are caught plagiarising will, for a first offence, be
given a zero mark for that task. A second offence will result in a failing grade for the course
involved and any subsequent offence will be referred to the Student Discipline Committee.

Undertaker Monologue Analysis
The YouTube clip Undertaker rises from a coffin to attack Brock Lesnar, directed by WWE,
Identifies four significant aspects that work together to show the meaning of the YouTube clip. The
four significant features that will be used is lighting, music or sound effects, special effects, special
effects and voices from the audience and Brock. The scene begins with dark lighting where the only
thing visible is the stage, the Undertakers followers and most visibly the coffin, combined with the
chanting and the Undertakers music, and then after the lighting returned to normal Brock opens
and then closes the coffin, after this the Undertakers coffin opens on its own and the Undertaker

The purpose of this technique is to try and convince the audience that the Undertaker is some sort
of godly being capable of bending death to his will. The director wants the audience to understand
the Undertakers supposed godlike status. The technique of the audible voices from the audience in
the arena and the voice over from the commentators or announcers is used to make the event seem
more immersive or more like a real sporting event even though it is not. The purpose of this
technique is to show the audience watching on YouTube or TV a false realism to the sport . The
director s purpose with this technique is to attempt to make the event seem even more immersive

Essay on A Shropshire Lad
Shropshire: A Place of Imagined Sexual Contentment
Published in 1869, A.E. Housman s A Shropshire Lad stands as one of the most socially acclaimed
collections of English poetry from the Victorian age. This period in British history, however,
proves, by judiciary focus (the Criminal Law Amendment of 1885), to be conflictive with Housman
s own internal conflicts concerning the homoerotic tendencies which he discovered in his
admiration of fellow Oxford student Moses Jackson. Housman, much unlike other English literary
figures such as Oscar Wilde and Thomas hardy, was not an artist who found it necessary to directly
confront Britain with any political dissention imposed by is works. Instead, amp;quot;for Housman

. . Stands up amp;quot; in describing the football game while the man is of course lying down.
Then in the sixth stanza the quatrain is consistent with this tone as the speaker informs the dead ma
that his girl is no longer mourning his death (l. 22) and that amp;quot;the act of love he had
enjoyed with his sweetheart amp;quot; much like everything else amp;quot;is also repeated without
him amp;quot; (Hoagwood 63). The speaker meanwhile becomes somewhat evasive by imploring
his old friend to amp;quot;Be still. . . and sleep amp;quot; (l.24). Finally the dead man inquires (ll.
25 28):
Is my friend hearty,
Now I am thin and pine,
And has he found to sleep in
A better bed than mine?
To which the speaker s response in the last stanza presumably indicates that he is involved with the
amp;quot;dead man s sweetheart amp;quot; (l. 32).
The question posed in the poem s penultimate stanza is one of various interpretation concerning the
last line. The initial response tends to be that the dead man is asking if his old friend is sleeping in
a amp;quot;better bed amp;quot; than the coffin in which he is buried; thus, stands as an example
of the colloquial speech Housman employs throughout A Shropshire Lad. Other interpretations
suggest that the dead man is asking his friend of his financial status, happiness, or even that the
dead man is intimating knowledge that his friend was sleeping with his sweetheart prior to his
death. What seems more plausible is

The Idea Of The Self-Made Man By Pamela Laid
I found Pamela Laird s essay very interesting, and while I ve never subscribed to the idea of a self
made man , I never considered how the notion could be harmful. The concept of the self made
man states that most people can get where they want to be with hard work and a good
entrepreneurial spirit. This idea exemplifies the idea of the American Dream, and creates the
illusion of an America where anyone, regardless of ethnicity, gender, or economic background
could become the next Steve Jobs or Andrew Carnegie. Laird argues that self made success can, at
least in part, be attributed to an economic, political or social advantage. She makes an excellent
argument on how individualism can harm both the individual and the collective. The idea of the
self made man can first be seen during the Protestant Reformation, where people begin to drift
away from the idea that they aren t in control of their circumstances, which were instead dependent
on God. Benjamin Franklin was a very popular model of self made success which inspires
entrepreneurs even today. Thomas Mellon, the founder of the Mellon Bank, looked up to Franklin
for his ambition and aimed to amass wealthfrom Franklin s ideas of self improvement. However,
Franklin spoke about self improvement for the purpose of community and individual growth, and
not for material gain. Franklin, along with United States Representative Alney McLean, used the
idea of the self made man to encourage people to better themselves, gain

Biofuels And Alternative Sources Of Energy
Introduction Biofuels, derived from living organisms rather than petroleum laden rock, are the
focus of current energy research. The need for biofuels and alternative sources of energy will be
necessary as the earth s resources begin to diminish. In cohesion with this concern, the current uses
of fossil fuels are a concern as the environment pays an incredible toll for our overuse of this
resource. Many have attempted to replace petroleum fuel with the first generation biofuels would
require diverting farmland and crops for biofuelproduction, causing economic and ethical
problems and competing with world food supply (Zhang et. al., 2011). The production of these
biofuels have a negative effect on the environment, as a backdrop of rising crude oil prices,
depletion of resources, and political instability in producing countries, only biomass has the
potential to replace the supply of an energy hungry civilization (Antoni et. al., 2007). This is proof
that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that have a lesser negative impact that can sustain the
energy demands that we have today. Currently, as seen in the table, microbes have been proven to
produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all sources that can be used for producing
renewable fuels. Due to their limited demands on the environment they prove to be an excellent
candidate for a successful biofuel.
Many of the biofuels produced from microbes are done so by varying organic pathways in order to

Essay about girls vs boys in china
China had solved one of their population problems, but had unknowingly created another problem
from it. Back in 1976, China faced an overpopulation problem. The growth of Chinas population
brought a lot of problems to the country and to its people. Some of the problems were from
overcrowding and not enough resources like food and jobs to go around for everyone. This was
why the government of Chinaenacted the One Child Policyact in order to prevent over population.
The One Child Policy was a law that allowed a family to only have one child with the incentiveof
economic and educational advantages to the family that obeyed this law, in many cases disobeying
the law would result in a fine.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a lot of societal issues in relation to the One Child Policy. Some cases include kidnapping
of women and children and even the abortion of unborn female fetuses. But without these measures
being taken, researchers say that by 2020, the consequences would be a shortage of 30 million
women. Therefore, the Chinese government officials insist that these measures are necessary to the
country.
I felt that the author presented a pretty fair and factual article but I still felt a little bias on the
author s intentions throughout his writing. The author did present his reasons why China
enacted the One Child Policy and why the Government was rewarding the families that gave
birth to females, but his points on the negatives of China s policy outweighed the pro side of the
One ChildPolicy. An example would be the cases where women would have abortions simply
because the fetus that she is carrying found to be of female gender. This idea is really disturbing
and makes very little to no sense at all. The fact that you would prevent a life from taking place
because of gender is unimaginable and barbaric compared to my American lifestyle. I ended up
feeling that the author was definitely not for the One Child policy and I could agree to why he
feels so.
Overall, this article was informative and since I have never

Discourse Of Disability
Main Discourses:
One of the main discourses that faced Donald is Normality . Donald is seen normal in the eyes
of his partner and peers. They depend on him in solving their problems and asking for his
opinion. However, he was viewed as deviant in his parents and his employer s eyes. Foucault
(1977) was interested in how certain ways of seeing phenomena come to be reified as truth.
Years later, Jorgenson Phillips (2002) discussed that reality and truth are only accessible to us in
sort of categories. The impact of that on a disabled child can affect his identity and sense of self
as mentioned in Michel Foucault s theory of identity (Jorgenson Phillips, 2002; Foucault, 1977).
Many arguments and studies mentioned that disabled people are not struggling with their
disability, but are struggling with who they are (MacNaughton, 2003). For example, when
Donald invited his boss to have dinner at his house, he asked Isabella his partner to act normally
and they had a big fight where Isabella told him, You do not know who you are, you are trying to
show people that you are as normal as them. (Lawrence et al., 2005).
Another discourse is the equality and the inequality which relates to the social justice. After a long

Revelation is called the book of mysteries and also the book of Saint John the Divine. However, it
is important to note that John was not the source of the revelation but the instrument used to make
known Divine revelation. The very first verse in the book reveals its source. It informs its readers
that the book and its content is all about Jesus Christ. God the Father is the source of the message
of Revelation. He gave it to Jesus to show unto his servant things which must soon come to pass.
Jesus gave the message to his angel who conveys it to his servant John. John is the instrument
God used to get the messages delivered to the seven churches. The chain of command is clearly
seen in the delivery of the heavenly message to the seven churches. This chain of command
confirms the importance of following proper leadership and organization in our lives, in our
homes, in our schools, in our plays and in our churches. John was in exile (prison) on the barren

Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States
The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be
required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the
idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the
United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address
the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual
because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in
order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after
the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set
by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it
changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that
our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality
of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than
human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that
everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of
this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. For future interpretation of this facet of our
constitution, the cruel and

Digital Savvy Equals Excessive Use of Technology Essay
Digital Savvy Equals Excessive Use of Technology As a relatively affluent and highly educated
group of minorities, it is not surprising that Asian Americans are heavy influencers in the digital and

times, children in immigration and refugee families learn the language and acculturate faster than

Raisin In The Sun Movie Vs Play
Every word in a literary composition adds more sense, if it is presented in a meaningful way. We
can see various differences between the presentation of Hansberry s play in 1961 and 2008 Act
1 Scene 1, though they are trying to convey the same message. Both of the scenes are trying to
show the dream of a middle class man, and their day to day circumstances while chasing their
dream. The main notion of the play was to portray about the struggle of African American in the

for the first time it was filmed in 1961. At that time the society was dominated by white people.
Though the play wanted to show the idea of discrimination among white and black people, the
movie released in 1961 could not perfectly express its idea of racism. While in the newer version

Bletchley Park Museum Report
The museum displayed the work here at Bletchley Park with much pride and admiration. They
believe that the work done here by these men and women were crucial to the war effort. Because
of the nature of the work, these stories were often untold until many years after the war. In such,
this museum tries to exemplify the patriotism, struggle, and contribution the workers at Bletchley
Park experienced during the Second World War. One point myself and several others in my group
were curious about, included how they depicted the living experiences of those who lived and
worked here. At times it seemed that they represented as great working experience, despite its
stressors. In other times, the information seemed to be contradictory, expressing how some viewed

After visiting Bletchley Park, my changing understanding of British history revolved around the
utilization of women and their vital role in multiple sectors of a wartime Britain. One of the posters
I bought pictures a woman in a ball gown surrounded by military men that says, Stay mum, she s
not so dumb! . This quote is meant to demonstrate that women are listening to the men soldiers tales
and secrets that the women would use for their loyalty. Another point the museumpointed out in
one section involved the cracking of the Japanese codes, which occurred very early, pre dating the
official start of the war. The museum highlights this and then added a panel that suggested that
Roosevelt potentially had prior knowledge of Pearl Harbor before the attack, and used this attack to
bring the United States into the war. I thought this information was interesting and in some ways
changed my opinion on what President Roosevelt did and did not know before the bombing of
Pearl Harbor. It was fascinating that this little manor village housed the brilliant minds that worked

Being A Hearing Impairment Problem
The world is full of people but all people are not same in terms of fate. That is why some are
physically and mentally fit while others are not lucky in this regard. The ones who are having
any kind of disability are considered as special and that is why special treatment should be given
to them so that they can be able to live their lives in an adequate manner. The disable persons
especially children tend to face so many problems. If the child is deaf then he will have to face
harsh behavior of the other children because neither he is able to express what he wants to say
nor he is able to understand what others are saying. This document deals with the problems of
Michael who is a five years old child and is having a hearing impairmentproblem. The document
will discuss those strategies which are necessary to be implemented in order to support Michael
in a school setting. In addition to this, it will also be discussed that in what ways Michael can be
able to bridge the social and cultural gap (Javier, 2005).
Hearing Impairment: According to Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) deafness or
hearing impairment is defined as the inability of an individual to understand the verbal language
due to inability to hear. According to this definition, Michael hearing problem has also affected his

Biographies And Biographies Of Books Essay
The term nonfiction is a very broad classifier of literature. Alongside fiction, the two genres account
for all the literature in existence. A quick internet search will present a number of genres that are
considered nonfiction. From historical eyewitness accounts, to creative nonfiction, to biographies,
there are many genres that people generally accept as factual. Memoirs and biographies are usually
counted on the more reliable side. Thus, there exist a number of sub genrethat fall under the title of
nonfiction . However, take a look past the surface, a number of problems with this stance arise. In
all truth, the brains of human beings are the only source behind the facts of biographies and
memoirs. As it turns out, this is the source is far from credible. Memoirs and biographies are not
reliable sources of nonfiction due to the differences between brains, bias which affects the brain,
and the faulty nature of brain functions. Every person has a distinct, separate brain, despite how
similar people may feel to the others around them. Calahan had violent behaviors and got more

Summary Of The BookThe Guest By Albert Camus
During the mid twentieth century, Algeria was trying to gain independence from France. It was
writers like Albert Camus who gave the world of taste of what was happening in their country at
that time through literature. He used knowledge and experiences to create stories and plays that
captured Alergia and the period of war they were in. Camus dominated the mid twentieth century
intellectually and artistically. Albert Camusgrew up with a strict belief in human freedom, which is
evident through his short story The Guest.
Growing up Albert Camus did not have an ordinary life. His family was not as fortunate as other
families. He grew up poor and was raised solely by his mother due to his father dying during
World War I. He was born in French Algeria. His mother was of Spanish descent and his father
was from France (Heims). Camus never let this be a disadvantage to his career or interfere with it.
He said Poverty was never a misfortune for me: it was radiant with light. Even my revolts were
brilliant with sunshine. They were almost always....revolts for everyone, so that life might be lifted
into that light (Heims). He used this through his career and it shows through his works.
During his life, Algeria was at war. Camus was torn apart personally and intellectually by this
war. He was from Spanish and French descent, however he grew up in Algeria (Taylor). At this
time it was still a French colony and Algeria was part of France for over a hundred years. Muslims

Walking through a strip mall, the allure of a GNC or a Vitamin Shoppe can be hard to resist. Enter
through the front doors and get lost in wall to wall shelves of products addressing health concerns
so obscure that even the most neurotic hypochondriac would feel at ease. There are probiotics,

you name it. The products on these shelves represent the fruits of a thirty billion dollar industry that

however that is defined (Reinberg, 2015). The logic fueling this desire makes sense: given so many
options to choose from, there must be something that will make life even healthier and happier than
it already is. This logic is both true and false at the same time. While there are a range of dietary
supplements catering to a range of health needs, it is important to understand the facts behind them
and how to distinguish effective products from useless ones. By considering science, avoiding
marketing gimmicks, and moderating consumption, consumers can use dietary supplements in
ways that could have life changing health benefits. Regulating your own consumption of dietary
supplements based on independent research is extremely important, because unlike food and drugs,
the government will not shoulder this responsibility for you. This policy can be traced back to

Aristotle s Highest Good Theorem
Phil 100 A01 Essay 2
Aristotle s Highest Good Theorem
When Aristotle first published his work entitled Nicomachean Ethics , you can imagine that
numerous philosophers, scholars, and ordinary citizens were deeply contemplating his idea of the
Highest Good Through the actions of virtue and reason, the act contemplation satisfies Aristotle s
characteristics as the Highest Good Being a self sufficient, and complete activity, the ability to
understand our function as human beings through contemplation achieves the Highest Good
Aristotle s characteristics for the Highest Good fall under these guidelines:
i) It is desirable for itself ii) It is not desirable for some other good iii) All other goods are desirable
for its sake
Taking this definition into account, it s obvious numerous people (including myself at times) seek
happiness through other means. Many focus on obtaining pleasure, wealth, and/or honour. While
widely desirable, they are means to happiness, and thus, are desirable for themselves, desirable for
some other good, and other goods are not desirable for their sake. By this evaluation, Aristotle
concludes that these aspects could not constitute the Highest Good. Aristotle believes that he who
achieves the Highest Good is not for some chance period but through a complete life (Nicomachean
Ethics, 1001a10). Aristotle s idea of looking at one s life at a whole, as opposed to scrutinizing over
minor events, may constitute some degree of delayed pleasure and may be

Gynaecology is a special medical area which is more prominent in the developed countries and they
have gone further in marketing such services especially in the private sector. However in most
less developed countries like Zimbabwe marketing of such services is almost rare, despite the
growing importance of gynaecological services. Firstly this is due to the fact that most medical
practitioners believe there is no marketing in the health service sector. According to Etzel et al
(1997), sellers in many industries such as health think of themselves only as producers or creators
not as marketers. Also some of these service firms believe such marketing can only be done only
by large companies operating in developed countries.
This is however not really true according to the American Marketers Association definition of
marketing. It regards marketing as A process of planning and executing the conception,

Film Analysis Of La La Land
The movie La La Land received an astonishing amount of 14 Oscar nomination because it was
such an enjoyable movie (Cunningham, 2017). La La Land was originally a musical that was
later made into a movie by the director Damien Chazelle. The movie is about two people, Mia
and Sebastian, who unintentionally keep running into each other, literally and figuratively.
Over time, they cannot help but fall for one another. Through a series of events, they end up
drifting apart to follow their own dreams which lead to the heart wrenching ending. La La Land
is a recommendable movie because of its music, character development, and acting. In Malorie
Cunningham s article she contends that the director wrote the script of La La Land in 2010 and
could not get it financed with an original budget of one million dollars, not knowing that the
movie would actually amount to thirty million (Cunningham, 2017). Although the movie took
so long to become a reality, it was worth the wait. It won several Oscars as well as being
nominated for several more. The movie was extremely successful in the box office. According
to The Numbers website, the movie grossed over 400 million dollars worldwide (La La Land,
2017). Because of the Oscars awards, profits, and good reviews, the hard work, time, effort, and
money put into it made it extremely successful. The movie La La Land is full of numerous

people viewed their worldand their place in it. Certain modern day changes in our perception of
our world are similar to those changes from hundreds of years ago. The beginning of Unit 4, 1450,

B.C. I will be performing a visual analysis on one of the friezes depicted in the Pergamon altar of

the unspoken fear of the greeks against the chaotic forces of nature by looking at the movement of

Athena greek goddess of war and wisdom was one of the most powerful goddesses in the greek

Cognitive Development (Piaget And Vygotsky) Essay
INTEGRATIVE TERM PAPER
I. Theoretical Perspectives
1. Introduction:
There are a number of theorists that have ideas, charts, and graphs about how a child develops.
Many are used today to determine when a child is mature, when they can feel emotion, and other
important factors to which there are no strict textbook answers for. Piaget and Vygotsky are two
theorists that offer theoretical perspectives on how a child develops.
2. Piaget s Constructivist Theory of Cognitive Development:
Piaget had a phrase that said Assimilation and Accommodation lead to Adaptation. Assimilation is
when a person fits his or her external information in with what he or she already knows. The change
is external in this case. Accommodation is the exact opposite. ... Show more content on

Nurture argument, but that is another story. There are major factors that can disrupt the Stage
theory or the Constructivist theory. A person could have a dysfunction or a special need that needs
to be dealt with. For example, is a little boy has a brain dysfunction that disrupts his learning
abilities, there is a high percentage of chance that he will not develop at the same pace and rate as
other children in his generation and environment.
With the Constructivist Theory, a child may not know how to deal with his or her internal emotions
and/or thoughts. If that child does not know how to deal with his or her own internal workings,
there is going to be much difficulty trying to deal with a personal accommodation. The same thing
goes with assimilation. If a child does not know how to deal with his or her external environment,
there is going to be difficulty changing them and dealing with assimilation.
Dealing with the Developmental Theory (Stage Theory), a child may have the same dysfunction
and not be able to move up the ladder of stages. There are those rare cases where a child may be
stuck at one stage, or a child may not develop everything he or she needs to move on.
A. Organizational and Adaptive Processes that Account for Cognitive Development:
The three adaptive processes for cognitive development are assimilation, accommodation, and
equilibrium. These are three agents

The return of World War II veterans instilled change on various fronts in America. From the G.I.
Bill, to the regression of civil rights progress and rise of nuclear fears, Americans faced an uncertain
future. To cope with the many changes occurring within America, individuals sought refuge in their

important the central nuclear home was. In the Visions of Family Life in Postwar America excerpt,

because some Iqaluit s died from it.(1). Iqaluit has the most case and highest rate of tuberculosis

The Pros And Cons Of Drug Trafficking
Drug trafficking, a multi billion dollar global business, is of growing concern to almost all
countries around the world. To be specific, it has been a concern to all governments, as part of
their job is the protection of the citizens. With the interference of drugs, it is not helping because it
leads to many diseases, crimes and the death of many people. Drugtrafficking is mainly the global
illicit trade involving the cultivation, manufacture, distribution and sale of substances which are
subject to drug prohibition laws; and illegal drug tradewhich is considered a global black market.
UNODC is continuously monitoring and researching global illicit drug markets in order to gain a
much more comprehensive perception. From about 40 years ago the world declared war on drugs,
but they couldn t put an end to drug trafficking. Violent drug traffickers will stop at nothing to
preserve their power. In order to put an end to it, all countries need to unite together and start...

Another thing is that many citizens who haven t been addicted or who haven t tried drugs
before will get addicted which is only increasing the needs of many people to drugs, not getting
rid of them. After a while the government will put really high taxes on them, making people lose
a lot of money on buying drugs thinking that this will make them stop consuming drugs. When
the drug buyers compare between the amount of money they used to pay on drugs and the
amount of money they pay now, they will notice that they are only losing money instead of
gaining more money. Their business isn t working as good as it used to so people will resort to
the old way again. This will only lead to more drug traffickers than there were before they legalise
it and by that, no one can get arrested because they aren t doing anything

Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Summary
Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his text, Self Reliance , persuades the audience to adopt individualism
and have confidence in his or her thoughts and actions. His actions and beliefs are reflected
through the Transcendentalist movement, found by him. Emerson aims to convince society that
nonconformity will lead greatness rather than isolate him from it. He achieves this by using
strategies such as personification, analogy, and allusion. Emerson immediately establishes a
conflict in the beginning of the essay by personifying society as the enemy. In line ten, the
author states, Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its
members. In this conflict set up by Emerson, society is now the antagonist. Emerson deliberately
distinguishes between the success of an individual and the success of an individual who relies
on society and achieves what is needed which is seen in line five in which Emerson is saying, no
kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground
which is given to him to till. A few lines down Emerson mentions society s members sharing
bread to another. Emerson, in saying bread instead of corn and saying sharing, implies that
society gives what is bare necessity to an individual however man himself will give himself more
than what society offers. Society is actually taking away from its members instead of enhancing or
improving their lives by asking its members to concur to surrender the liberty and culture of the
individual. Emerson s intention of making society the enemy is to ultimately make nonconformity
the enemy. By agreeing to society, the individual is conforming to society thus deviating from
society is a better goal for an individual and leads them to distinction in society. Emerson employs
analogy in his essay by comparing society to a joint stock company. In line twelve, Emerson says,
society is a joint stock company, in which members agree, for the better securing of his bread to
each shareholder... This comparison is implying that society s members think of the whole rather
than that of the individual. Society seems to have a notion that they need to do good for all and in
executing that thought they

  • 2. 4.09 World History Essay Transcript of 4.09 World history Map Lisbon Florence Florence is home to many wonderful painters and artists during the renaissance. The one who did the ceiling of the cathedral that is shown is Giorgio Vasari. he was a renaissance painter, architect, and author. This artifact shows how extravagant they had gotten with their art, using perspective, shading and the influences of humanism to paint. This shows the true art of this time period. Why was Florence important? Florence is arguably the starting place of the renaissance. With many different artists there, the Medici Family in control and a very strong trading system, it was a very powerful city state during the renaissance. During this time, the feudal system was no more. The people in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wittenberg is the town that the reformation started in. This is where the catholic church was that Martin Luther nailed the these on the door to. With that, many people became Lutheran in this city and the catholic church did not like that. A lot of the reformation took place here because it was the starting point. This artifact is in Libon. This statue is dedicated to Henry the Navigator. He sent a lot of people to go discover parts of the new world. Because of Henry the Navigator, Portugal conquered Brazil. He was very important to Portugal and the exploration era. Why was Lisbon Important? Lisbon is the main area that Henry the Navigator sent out his ships to discover the new world. This became a very popular trading depot because of its location and finding new things during exploration. This was a place where the Colombian Exchange happened, especially with what is now Brazil. This is also where Ferdinand Magellan set off to sail completely around the earth. The Lamentation by Scorpion Pulzone shows exactly what Rome was like during the counter reformation. This painting shows how the catholic church wanted the art to look. They wanted all art to be focused on Jesus Christ and his Resurrection. During the counter reformation, the Catholic Church tried to bring all the attention back onto God. They wanted God to be the main focus, as seen in this painting, not anything ... • 3. The Importance Of Human Factor In Health Human factor explores the potential and limitation of an individual in their workplace to ensure safety, effectiveness and quality. Human factor or ergonomics plays a vital role to control patient safety and quality in the intensive care unit (ICU) as it contributes to adverse events. By acknowledging human factor and its impact on quality and safety in health care, nurses along with other health care professionals will be able to create a safer environment for practice and a productive workforce. This paper intends to identify human factor in health care and establish their correlation with quality and patient safety. To begin with, this paper has divided human factor into physical, cognitive and organizational and examines their relationship to quality and patient safety in intensive care unit. In the intensive care unit, every plan and action of all the health care team such as doctors, nurses, nursing supervisor, anesthesiologist and interns can be a factor to determine a life or death situation, as all the patient are in a critical and physically vulnerable condition. It is very crucial to take factor that influence patient safety and quality of care into consideration, especially human factor and ergonomics in order to have better patient outcome and improve recovery; clinicians, leaders and management should be able to acknowledge this (Carayon et al., 2013; Gurses et al.,2012b; Institute of Medicine, 2012). • 4. Individualism Vs Collectivism When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would be the polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should be viewed as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of what most citizens deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black Sabbath s song War Pigs, in which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the government, treating people just like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a collective view of their population tend to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler (Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess. Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or perhaps billions, of individuals according to individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective body in the case of collectivism. Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a screen) to the governing bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings whose feelings and opinions matter. • 5. The Legacy Of Louisiana Purchase Louisiana Purchase, more prominently known as an acquisition that doubled the size of the country we reside in, was much more than just a simple purchase, much less an easy one. Thomas Jefferson had to consider all the aspects, consequences, and effects that the decision of buying 2,144,500 square kilometers of land would have on the country (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). This purchase brought many improvements to the country, but also had unexpected consequences that would transform the country as a whole. Although Jefferson s decision was considered a mistake by some Federalists and caused conflicts with Spain, it was actually a step forward towards the respectable and prosperous country that many had envisioned the United Statesto be because it doubled the magnitude of opportunities, solved the initial conflict of attaining the port of New Orleans (thus continuing trade), removed France s colonial power from North America, which made the United States the dominant influence in North America and, most significantly, secured new western territory, which led to westward expansion (Loos). The Louisiana Purchase, by doubling the size of the country, also doubled the size of opportunities overnight, becoming a pull factor for the residents of the country and people Asia and Europe. This led to more economic opportunities and an assimilation of more cultures. The United States became ever more prosperous through this purchase, but with every decision there are unexpected ... Housman s A Shropshire Lad stands as one of the most socially acclaimed collections of English poetry from the Victorian age. This period in British history, however, proves, by judiciary focus (the Criminal Law Amendment of 1885), to be conflictive with Housman s own internal conflicts concerning the homoerotic tendencies which he discovered in his admiration of fellow Oxford student Moses Jackson. The question posed in the poem s penultimate stanza is one of various interpretation concerning the last line. The initial response tends to be that the dead man is asking if his old friend is sleeping in a amp;quot;better bed amp;quot; than the coffin in which he is buried; thus, stands as an example of the colloquial speech Housman employs throughout A Shropshire Lad. • 13. The Idea Of The Self-Made Man By Pamela Laid I found Pamela Laird s essay very interesting, and while I ve never subscribed to the idea of a self made man , I never considered how the notion could be harmful. The concept of the self made man states that most people can get where they want to be with hard work and a good entrepreneurial spirit. This idea exemplifies the idea of the American Dream, and creates the illusion of an America where anyone, regardless of ethnicity, gender, or economic background could become the next Steve Jobs or Andrew Carnegie. Laird argues that self made success can, at least in part, be attributed to an economic, political or social advantage. She makes an excellent argument on how individualism can harm both the individual and the collective. The idea of the self made man can first be seen during the Protestant Reformation, where people begin to drift away from the idea that they aren t in control of their circumstances, which were instead dependent on God. Benjamin Franklin was a very popular model of self made success which inspires entrepreneurs even today. Thomas Mellon, the founder of the Mellon Bank, looked up to Franklin for his ambition and aimed to amass wealthfrom Franklin s ideas of self improvement. However, Franklin spoke about self improvement for the purpose of community and individual growth, and not for material gain. Franklin, along with United States Representative Alney McLean, used the idea of the self made man to encourage people to better themselves, gain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Biofuels And Alternative Sources Of Energy Introduction Biofuels, derived from living organisms rather than petroleum laden rock, are the focus of current energy research. The need for biofuels and alternative sources of energy will be necessary as the earth s resources begin to diminish. In cohesion with this concern, the current uses of fossil fuels are a concern as the environment pays an incredible toll for our overuse of this resource. Many have attempted to replace petroleum fuel with the first generation biofuels would require diverting farmland and crops for biofuelproduction, causing economic and ethical problems and competing with world food supply (Zhang et. al., 2011). The production of these biofuels have a negative effect on the environment, as a backdrop of rising crude oil prices, depletion of resources, and political instability in producing countries, only biomass has the potential to replace the supply of an energy hungry civilization (Antoni et. al., 2007). This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that have a lesser negative impact that can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as seen in the table, microbes have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all sources that can be used for producing renewable fuels. Due to their limited demands on the environment they prove to be an excellent candidate for a successful biofuel. Some of the problems were from overcrowding and not enough resources like food and jobs to go around for everyone. Therefore, the Chinese government officials insist that these measures are necessary to the country. I felt that the author presented a pretty fair and factual article but I still felt a little bias on the author s intentions throughout his writing. The author did present his reasons why China enacted the One Child Policy and why the Government was rewarding the families that gave birth to females, but his points on the negatives of China s policy outweighed the pro side of the One ChildPolicy. They depend on him in solving their problems and asking for his opinion. However, he was viewed as deviant in his parents and his employer s eyes. Foucault (1977) was interested in how certain ways of seeing phenomena come to be reified as truth. Years later, Jorgenson Phillips (2002) discussed that reality and truth are only accessible to us in sort of categories. The impact of that on a disabled child can affect his identity and sense of self as mentioned in Michel Foucault s theory of identity (Jorgenson Phillips, 2002; Foucault, 1977). Many arguments and studies mentioned that disabled people are not struggling with their disability, but are struggling with who they are (MacNaughton, 2003). For example, when Donald invited his boss to have dinner at his house, he asked Isabella his partner to act normally and they had a big fight where Isabella told him, You do not know who you are, you are trying to show people that you are as normal as them. Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. The products on these shelves represent the fruits of a thirty billion dollar industry that capitalizes on consumers desire to aspire beyond good healthinto the illusive realm of wellness however that is defined (Reinberg, 2015). The logic fueling this desire makes sense: given so many options to choose from, there must be something that will make life even healthier and happier than it already is. This logic is both true and false at the same time. While there are a range of dietary supplements catering to a range of health needs, it is important to understand the facts behind them and how to distinguish effective products from useless ones. By considering science, avoiding marketing gimmicks, and moderating consumption, consumers can use dietary supplements in ways that could have life changing health benefits. Regulating your own consumption of dietary supplements based on independent research is extremely important, because unlike food and drugs, the government will not shoulder this responsibility for you. Aristotle s Highest Good Theorem Phil 100 A01 Essay 2 Aristotle s Highest Good Theorem When Aristotle first published his work entitled Nicomachean Ethics , you can imagine that numerous philosophers, scholars, and ordinary citizens were deeply contemplating his idea of the Highest Good Through the actions of virtue and reason, the act contemplation satisfies Aristotle s characteristics as the Highest Good Being a self sufficient, and complete activity, the ability to understand our function as human beings through contemplation achieves the Highest Good Aristotle s characteristics for the Highest Good fall under these guidelines: i) It is desirable for itself ii) It is not desirable for some other good iii) All other goods are desirable for its sake Taking this definition into account, it s obvious numerous people (including myself at times) seek happiness through other means. Many focus on obtaining pleasure, wealth, and/or honour. While widely desirable, they are means to happiness, and thus, are desirable for themselves, desirable for some other good, and other goods are not desirable for their sake. By this evaluation, Aristotle concludes that these aspects could not constitute the Highest Good. Aristotle believes that he who achieves the Highest Good is not for some chance period but through a complete life (Nicomachean Ethics, 1001a10). However in most less developed countries like Zimbabwe marketing of such services is almost rare, despite the growing importance of gynaecological services. Firstly this is due to the fact that most medical practitioners believe there is no marketing in the health service sector. According to Etzel et al (1997), sellers in many industries such as health think of themselves only as producers or creators not as marketers. Also some of these service firms believe such marketing can only be done only by large companies operating in developed countries. Piaget and Vygotsky are two theorists that offer theoretical perspectives on how a child develops. 2. A person could have a dysfunction or a special need that needs to be dealt with. For example, is a little boy has a brain dysfunction that disrupts his learning abilities, there is a high percentage of chance that he will not develop at the same pace and rate as other children in his generation and environment. With the Constructivist Theory, a child may not know how to deal with his or her internal emotions and/or thoughts. If that child does not know how to deal with his or her own internal workings, there is going to be much difficulty trying to deal with a personal accommodation. The same thing goes with assimilation. If a child does not know how to deal with his or her external environment, there is going to be difficulty changing them and dealing with assimilation. Dealing with the Developmental Theory (Stage Theory), a child may have the same dysfunction and not be able to move up the ladder of stages. There are those rare cases where a child may be stuck at one stage, or a child may not develop everything he or she needs to move on. A. • 43. Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Summary Ralph Waldo Emerson, in his text, Self Reliance , persuades the audience to adopt individualism and have confidence in his or her thoughts and actions. His actions and beliefs are reflected through the Transcendentalist movement, found by him. Emerson aims to convince society that nonconformity will lead greatness rather than isolate him from it. He achieves this by using strategies such as personification, analogy, and allusion. Emerson immediately establishes a conflict in the beginning of the essay by personifying society as the enemy. In line ten, the author states, Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members. In this conflict set up by Emerson, society is now the antagonist. Emerson deliberately distinguishes between the success of an individual and the success of an individual who relies on society and achieves what is needed which is seen in line five in which Emerson is saying, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till. A few lines down Emerson mentions society s members sharing bread to another. Emerson, in saying bread instead of corn and saying sharing, implies that society gives what is bare necessity to an individual however man himself will give himself more than what society offers. Society is actually taking away from its members instead of enhancing or improving their lives by asking its members to concur to surrender the liberty and culture of the individual. Emerson s intention of making society the enemy is to ultimately make nonconformity the enemy. By agreeing to society, the individual is conforming to society thus deviating from society is a better goal for an individual and leads them to distinction in society. Emerson employs analogy in his essay by comparing society to a joint stock company. In line twelve, Emerson says, society is a joint stock company, in which members agree, for the better securing of his bread to each shareholder... This comparison is implying that society s members think of the whole rather than that of the individual. Society seems to have a notion that they need to do good for all and in executing that thought they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
