Assessment, Formative Assessments, And A Final Summative...
Analysis of Results Key Findings This division unit included a variety of assessment types including a
pre assessment, formative assessments, and a final summative post assessment. In addition to the
assessments that were scored, an anecdotal notes sheet was also used to keep track of informal
assessments like student behaviors, participation, completion of worksheets, lesson activities, note
taking skills, and various other aspects of this unit that also affect the overall outcome of the unit (see
appendix A). The actual data collected for this unit, which is presented in the previous section, is able
to portray the students overall growth and progress towards reaching each of the three students
learning objectives for this unit. In total, the class average on the pre assessment was a 43% and the
class average on the summative assessment was 78%, therefore showing that as a whole, the class
grew by 35%. This shows that the entire group of students as a whole were able to develop in their
division skills in a positive way by 35% from the beginning to the end of the unit. While some of the
scores portrayed in the data tables are not necessarily showing mastery for all students, the main
concern for many of these students was in their ability to show effort, develop division skills, and
show growth as learners, and nearly 100% of students were able to achieve that. On the pre
assessment for this unit, students were graded based on an analytic rubric (refer to appendix A)

Dueling Religious Ideologies Seen in Shakespeare’s The...
The dueling religious ideologies seen in Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice serve as the
cornerstones not only of the character s arguments during the trial at the end of the play, but of the
definitions of the character s own self perceptions. Shylock, the play s villain and the most prominent
of the play s three Jewish characters, employs his religious identity in defining his conception of
masculinity, connecting his perception of what it means to be male with his profession, which he is
allowed to practice due to the tenants of his Jewish faith. This economically defined perception of his
own masculinity becomes Shylock s undoing, as the play shows the slow decline of his economic
fortune, which comes to represent a kind of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within his own home as well, Shylock s masculinity and his position as the head of the household are
again defined through his economic dominion over those in his service. His daughter, Jessica, is
unmarried and therefore still the economic responsibility of her father, playing not only into Shylock s
economic, but also his blood dominion over his only daughter. Isolated from the greater Venetian
society by her Jewish faith, Jessica is further isolated by her father s drive to assert his masculinity
through his control of her. In Act 2, Scene 5, Shylock demands that Jessica lock up my doors (2.5.30),
and not let the sound of shallow foppery enter/My sober house (2.5.36 7). He treats he no better than
he does Lancelot, ordering her as a master would his servants and in terms seemingly devoid of all
fatherly affection. While Shylock bolsters his own masculinity through these act of fatherly
domination of his daughter, he is unaware that Jessica is plotting a means by which she can
emasculate her father and escape his influence once and for all. While the verdict of the trial serves as
the final blow to Shylock s masculinity, with Antonio s request that he be forcibly converted to
Christianity serving as the actual act of castration, the process begins much

Martin Luther, A Christian Theologian And Augustinian Monk
Gustavo Huangal
October 8, 2014
Bible 2nd Assessment
Martin Luther Martin Luther, a Christian theologian and Augustinian monk has taught and inspired the
Protestant Reformation. His translation of the Bible has helped to develop the correct version of the
German language. Martin Luther was a great man. Martin Luther was born on the 10th of November,
1483 in Eisleben, Germany. Hans and Margaretha Luder were his parents. In 1501, he had been
enrolled in the University of Erfurt at the age of seventeen. But all of that changed during a harsh
thunderstorm where a lightning bolt struck near him on his way back to school. With terror he yelled
these words, Help St. Anne! I ll become a monk! Since then, he dropped out of law school and started
attending monastery there. He would devote himself only to things like fasts, long hour prayers, and
constant confessions. He tried a lot to change this, but the more he tried to do this for God, it always
seemed that he became more aware of his sinfulness. Martin Luther eventually ended up being good
with God personally when his teacher, Johann von Staupitz, ordered that Luther needed more work to
distract him from all his thoughts. So then Luther was ordained to the priesthood. So in the year of
1508, Martin Luther started to teach theology at the University of Wittenberg. The difficult time of
study for academic degrees and preparation for the hard lectures drove Martin Luther to study the
Scriptures very deep. Luther engaged

Diffusion Is The Net Movement Essay
NAME: Partrice Davis (Isata Sheriff, Marianne Fafana, Binta Bojang)
TITLE: Dye Diffusion
INTRODUCTION Diffusion is the net movement in which molecules of a substance move from a
various area of high concentration to more substances of lower concentration. Properties of diffusion
is the speed of diffusion is influenced by the size of molecule and temperature. The rate of diffusion
will depend on the ability of the diffusing molecule to dissolve in the lipid bilayer of the membrane.
The rate of diffusion across a membrane is directly proportional to the surface area of the membrane.
Diffusion is often referred to as the net motion of particles from areas of high concentration to areas of
low concentration. The solute is a substance that can be dissolved in a mixture or solution usually in
smaller amounts. Factors that would affect the rate consist of the size of the gradient, molecule size,
electric charge, lipid solubility, temperature, and the presence of membrane channel proteins.
Substances involved in diffusion include gas, small organic ions, and molecules, and lipid soluble
materials. Simple diffusion is the unsupported transport across a plasma membrane of the lipid
soluble. Certain particles like alcohol, fatty acids, and steroids are able to enter cells easily because
they can diffuse through the lipid portion of the membrane. Lipid soluble drugs such as oxygen,
carbon dioxide, and water may be able to enter and leave the cells by diffusing through the

From the case, Kingsford s absences of media advertising further soften the category. Thus, increase
the media budget is the necessary action. The budget should primarily focus on TV advertising, but
also can choose radio, events, social media (blog, twitter, Facebook) and billboards. They need to pay
attention on its customer oriented promotion, to create a happy, joy, with closest friends and family,
make the brand associated with warm, fun, and happiness.
From lots of researches and the analysis mentioned at beginning, charcoal industry is very mature,
Kingsford as a industry leader can rely on its established brand image to extend its product category,
such as charcoal grilled food with the wood flavor, or launch the barbecue sauce under Kingsford
names.
In conclusion, Kingsford need a good marketing plan to overcome the industry decline and company s
deficit. Moreover, Kingsford s research and development department plays an important role of
product innovation and brand revitalization. Only with integrated marketing plan can Kingsford bring
the momentum in charcoal s industry.

The Bauhaus Of Bauhaus School
The Bauhaus School merged fine arts with applied arts and industrial production to change the way in
which graphic and industrial designers approached ideas of ornamentation, beauty and functionality.
With his manifesto; The final goal of all artistic activity is architecture Bauhaus founder, Gropius,
focused primarily on functionality, rejecting the extravagance of the Arts and Crafts Movement.
Political, social and economic factors all influenced the new egalitarian or utopian approach to design,
which embraced the machine aesthetic of the first quarter of the 20th century and resulted in a socialist
or democratised approach to design. These modernist designers, trained at the Bauhaus School, felt
strongly that beauty in design was not a consequence of ornamentation or decoration but could result
directly from design principles such as form, colour and texture. As previous design sought to adhere
to traditional values, reforming to modern progression became desired became a desired trait in
design.
The Bauhaus School, founded in Germany by architect Walter Gropius in 1919, was initially a school
of Arts and Crafts. The Arts and Crafts movement, associated with rich ornamentation and exotic
materials sought to unite artists and craftspeople to ensure the survival of beautiful craftsmanship post
industrialisation. Gropius wanted to take this further by engaging technology in this process. However,

Summary Of Devil s Arithmetic By Jane Yolen

purposes. Yet both have contrast tones. In The Devil s Arithmetic,by Jane Yolen, stridulous conditions

of compassion throughout the book because she knows that Jews have been through so much agony
and despair in the camps. They have sacrificed so much just to be alive. This shows prodigious
courage. Yolen also states, We forget because remembering is too painful. (Pg.163). This portrays on
how she feel on the Holocaust and that she can feel from experience how appalling it must feel. Yolen

Disney Springs At Jock Lindsey
Yesterday evening we went over to Disney Springs for dinner at Jock Lindsey s, but first we wanted to
swing by the new Ganachery Chocolate Shoppe that had just opened a couple days before. We love
good chocolate, so we had high hopes for this newest addition to the list of high end foodie shops at
Walt Disney World. The Ganachery did not disappoint! For most people, unless you know of some
little artisan confectionery, the best chocolates you can get your hands on are Godiva. There is an
excitement and ritual to opening that gleaming golden box and breathing in that smell. Amplify the
smell, the taste, the creaminess by 10 fold; THEN you have the Ganachery chocolates!
You can find the shop kitty corner from Jock Lindsey s, just past the turn off for Raglan Road. When
we arrived there was only another couple in line ahead of us and we were allowed inside after only a
minute or two. They were limiting the number of people who could shop at one time because the
footprint of the floor is incredibly tiny. If I recall they only wanted 7 or 8 customers to be inside at one
time. I didn t feel that the short wait was too much to ask, even though some people stomped off after
only being in line 30 seconds or so. They were offering free sea salt caramel samples while we waited
so who was I to complain!?

What Decisions For A Retailer Manager Is A Poor Business...
1. Introduction
In recent times it has been well documented and reported that the way in which retailing is changing.
Alongside the former methods of bricks and mortar stores, modern day retailers must now ensure that
their goods and services are available by means of various streams, including websites and mobile
apps. (Benady, D. 2014) But it is not only retailing which have changed; the consumer is becoming
savvier and increasingly sophisticated. Consumers are expecting more from retailers and now expect a
seamless shopping experience however way in which they may interact with the retailer. (Benady, D.

2. Retail Strategy and Concepts
For retail managers, establishing and defining a profound retailing strategy is essential. In terms of
retailers, it is essential to select retail location which in turn can lead on to offer the best potential
revenue performance and consequently further strengthen the organisations overall brand position.
(Ipsos, 2013) Picking a location can be a difficult decision to make for both emerging businesses and
well established organisations. Various potential issues will need to be analysed for example
population size and competitive intensity. (Ipsos, 2013)

essential aspect when choosing location is to ensure that a location has been thoroughly profiled and
that every aspect has been looked at with some including:
Potential footfall in the area.
Overall quality of the location
Location accessibility
Occupancy rates
(Ipsos, 2013)
For retail managers there are strategic tools which can be utilised when it comes to choosing a location
for a business, one such concept which can be particularly useful and applied is that of the Retail Mix,
incorporating factors including: Place, Product, Price and Promotion. In terms of this report Place may
be seen as the most important aspect of the mix. For a retail manager it can be further possible

The Bloody Massacre In Kings Street Analysis
The Bloody Massacre in Kings Street is an engraving done by the great Paul Revere. The engraving
depicts the British lined up alongside an officer giving an order to fire, indicating that the British
soldiers are the aggressors. He goes on to depict smiles on the faces of some of the soldiers as if to
show they are enjoying this brutal murder. The Boston air was thick with tensions between the
American colonists and the British leading up to March 5, 1770. This tension began to brew in the
early 1760s, as American colonists began to disagree with the British who thought themselves to be
the superiors. As the decade progressed, the British felt themselves losing their intimidation factor as
American colonists ensued peaceful protests in the streets. On March 5th, 1770, British soldiers are at
fault for murdering innocent protesters because, they were practicing carelessness, assuming a
position of false superiority, and enacting a last ditch effort to remain in control.
As to what happened on the evening of March 5th, 1770, there is a plentiful amount of perspectives
that have been studied for centuries. In the decade leading up to the massacre tensions were high, and
as it is put by Wheeler and Becker, the Massachusetts colony became a hotbed of opposition to
imperial policy innovations (81). There was intense strain on the relationship between the British and
the American Colonists. More specifically this rising hostility honed in between the Boston residents,

The Feminine Mystique, By Betty Friedan
The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan is related to the second wave of feminism. Betty Friedan
wrote about The Problem that has no Name. Throughout the next few pages the analysis will be on
The Feminine Mystique with particular attention on The Problem that has no Name. In the 1960s it
was uncommon for the women of the time to hold a job and raise a family. Betty Friedan worked until
she was pregnant, which she was fired for, and then continued to write freelance for journals and
newspapers after she had her children. She wanted to have a job and raise a family. She wanted the
best of both worlds. The other part of Betty Friedan that is remarkably admirable is her view on
beauty standards. She was not all that pleased that women and men had to look a certain way. How
has The Problem that has no Name and The Feminine Mystique changed the outlook on women s
problems, how has society dealt with these problems, and how women were able to write about such
problems that women face? These are the main concerns that will be addressed throughout the next
few pages. By looking at the book and Betty Friedan s life, but, also looking at other sources from the
1960s we can see how life was for women both on the home front and the outside world.
The Problem that has no Name, as Betty Friedan called it, is a situation that occurred in the 1960s.
The Problem that has no Name happened because people were moving to the suburbs. Before the mid
twentieth century the suburbs did not really exist, it was either the countryside or the urban centre.
People, particularly women and children, had nothing to do because the suburbs did not have all the
activities that they do today. There were no playgrounds, parks, clubs or activities to keep the women
or their children busy. The men would go off to work and the wives and children would be stuck at
home with nothing to do. Of course, there were some usual activities, such as, cleaning and doing
chores but outside of the domestic side of activities there was not much for the women or children to
do. They would go to their doctors and get prescriptions to help relieve the pain they felt. This
essentially became know as the problem that has no name. The main question that

The Students for a Democratic Society of the late 1960’s...
The 1960 s was a happening decade. It was a time when many people came together for a common
good and stood against injustice. The 60 s is often recalled as the era of the peace sign, one ridden
with hippies, marijuana and pacifism. While true of much of the era, some of the movements calling
for immense social change began as non violent harbingers of change and later became radicals. The
reason for this turn to radicalism, as seen in the case of the Students for a Democratic Society, and as
suggested by the change between this organizations earlier Port Huron statement and the later
Weatherman Manifesto, is due to the gradual escalation of the Vietnam war. The Port Huron
Statement, issued in 1962 by a group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of the RYM is to dismember and dispose of US imperialism. It is amazing that it took just
seven years for the Students for a Democratic Society to change from an organization that sees the
United States as fundamentally good but in need of change through peaceful means to an organization
that sees the United States as an imperial evil and calls for violent revolution. The Port Huron
Statement comes from the beginning of a new decade. The fresh tactics of sit ins and protests still
show promise of inducing change. The Weatherman Manifesto came after years of protests and
continued escalation in Vietnam. During those seven years a lot changed. In 1965 Lyndon Johnson
started a large escalation in Vietnam with Operation Rolling Thunder which increased troops and
initiated massive bombing campaigns. By the end of 1965 almost 200,000 marines were deployed in
Vietnam. The first draft card burnings at University of California, Berkeley took place in 1965. In
October of 1967 there was a stop the draft week where more than a thousand people returned their

FDR being the only president to be elected 4 terms in a row. FDR put regulations for what businesses

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag; drifting through the wind; wanting to start again. This is a lyric
from a song, firework, by Katy Perry. It is kind of like the emotion of the author of the poem, Pablo

Neruda, describe a young man who feels a sense of stubborn sorrow and gathering oblivion, like a
plastic bag, but by the structure, sound, and symbolism of the poem, Neruda gives the readers a

First Sight Is Real
In my own opinion I will explain to you if I think love at first sight is real. I believe that love at first
glance isn t real because you truly have no idea who that person is. If you like somebody because of
their looks, it s from lust or desire, not love. You have to know the person, not just go out and propose
to every single, pretty person out there, otherwise it could actually lead to bad decisions and later can

When we were all little we got told to stay away from strangers because they will kidnap us, well now

Network Based Intrusion Detection Systems ( Idss )
Abstract: Providing security in a distributed system is important as cloud computing provides variety
of convenient services. IDS implementation in cloud requires an efficient, scalable and a constructive
approach. Many Network based intrusion detection systems(NIDS) are used for the reception of
packets from the cloud, but those systems possess lower detection rate, high false positive rate and
they fail to resist single point attack. I would like to propose one method which I encountered and
found out to be efficient compared to other methods. This unique model has multiple intrusion

term cloud is analogical to Internet. Similarly cloud computing is a model for delivering information

Wholesale Funding, Bank Runs and Liquidity Freezes In the 2007/8 Financial Crisis
Introduction
Banks make loans which are not quickly sold at high price. The demand deposits by Banks issue allow
their depositors to make withdraws at their convenience. Therefore a liquidity mismatch exists
between a bank s liabilities which are more liquid compared to the bank s assets. It leads to a problem
in case a large number of depositors decide to withdraw at the same time. Such a situation is called a
bank run. To prevent bank runs there are policies by the banks to stop runs, while the government
provides deposit insurance for prevention of bank runs. The canonical model of depositor runs by
Diamond and Dybvig (1983) provides an explanation as to why banks issue deposits which have
greater liquidity than the bank s assets and also explain why banks are prone to depositor runs
(Diamond, Dybvig, 1983). This model focuses on bank runs along other financial crises and the
mechanisms to prevent such financial crises. This paper discusses how traditional bank runs is
different from runs in the 2008 financial crisis and the innovation of wholesale funding.

The Role Of Mass Media On Politics
Studies show how the role of mass media has triggered an enormous influence in the lives of our
nation s citizens. Nevertheless, what I have observed over the course of my life is how the mass media
have predominantly swayed, persuaded and changed various people s views and opinions of the world
quite drastically. A journalist s influence on politics and the election process can influence various
undecided voters for they are the ones choosing what appears in the media. Pertaining to the press, we
observe how exactly mass media play a role in shaping public opinion. Consequently, mass media
have changed from a time when the government used the media as a medium to influence voters,
committees, and communities. However, the media have the authority and ability to inform the people,
yet, repeatedly, the stories given to the public come across as biased and distorted for reasons we don t
fully comprehend. Through the practice of slant and sensationalism, we begin to understand the ways
the media have begun to form our views and interpretations in society as well as the method by which
we choose our nation s leaders.
Sometime in the near future, once I become a reporter/journalist, my usage of mass media will greatly
influence elections. Research shows that journalists are the individuals who hold the power over the
U.S. political process since they are the watchdogs of elections. Through inquiry, I discovered that the
first way journalists become involved in elections is by

Anger In Speak
Laurie Halse Anderosn has written a book which is considered as a trauma novel speak . Usually
anger is a phase that begins with madness and ends with regret, but in this book anger will be tackled
in different way, Melinda s anger starts with silence and ends with speaking. In other words it s starts
with fear and ends with triumph over self. Over the course of the novel silence struggling with anger is
leading to speak. Anderson incorporated all themes in anger direction with different techniques such
as flashback, allusion, symbolism, and fragmentation.
The story started in an ambiguous atmosphere ,as readers don t know what happened to Melinda she
refused to speak she only wants to live in her isolation. some people in their depression tries to speak,
and others chooses to keep themselves silent and get stressed when they are given a heavy workload,
like why me ? ,as they are too weak or shame to face the world around them ,and this exactly what
happened to Melinda in this novel .People experiencing passive anger may not even realize they are
angry, because passive angry maybe repressed, it can be hard to recognize. In this long term, these
suppressed angry feelings can easily be a main reasson for psychological suffering. As readers can
only notice that she carried a folded story that will be displayed through flashback ... Show more

Essay on Judging by the Cover
Judging by the Cover, is an essay written in 2003 by Bonny Gainley who is a consultant, speaker, and
author. It originally appeared in an opinion column in a Colorado newspaper. Although non
discriminatory, she believes that people project messages about themselves with their appearance. This
essay seems to be intended for recent graduates and young job seekers. The main point that she tries to
explain to the reader is that even though our family and friends may accept us for who we are,
employers may not.
Gainley does make some really good points when discussing why people need to be aware of how
they look. She seems to be trying to talk about too many issues in such a short article and it becomes
very confusing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paragraph was hard to understand. She seems to be trying to explain to the reader that although
you should not judge a book by its cover, businesses often make assumptions by their appearance.
Dress codes exist for a reason. Sometimes it is for safety reasons but sometimes it s just about what
the employers or clients are willing to accept. If a certain look or appearance might make a client
uncomfortable then the company will decide that such an appearance is inappropriate or might pose an
unnecessary risk for that company.
While it does not seem right, employers do care about our appearance. Jobs exist to make money and
right now there is a tough job market. With a lot of people out there looking for jobs, employers can
afford to be picky. This is not about human rights and freedom, but about free enterprise.
People are told to not discriminate against someone for something an applicant can t control, and
doing so would be illegal. With that being said, visible tattoos and body piercing are something very
much controllable. She uses a very good example that runners would be at a disadvantage if they were
to run 100 meters wearing combat boots. People who choose to have piercings and tattoos put
themselves at a disadvantage. Imagine if 2 people walked into a job for an interview. They both had
the same amount of experience, but one is dressed in a nice suite

Why Do Shakespeare Believe In Love At First Sight
Everyone has or has had a crush, we all judge them by their looks at first but then we find out what
type of person they are. Just like how shakespeare believes in love at first sight, we all have gone
through it and it s no lie, even though you say don t believe in it, it s true. We all have that one friend
who denies love at first sight. They say that it isn t true because it s not possible to fall in love with
someone without meeting them. They are in fact right ;however, when you see someone and you fall
in love with their looks, it s love at first sight. For example, you move to a new school and you see a
star football player and you fall in love with him, you obviously fall in love with his looks because
you don t know him. Just like in the film Romeo and Juliet. In Act 1 Scene 5, its shows that they meet
for the first time and they both fail in love with each other. Romeo says, If I profane with my
unworthiest hand, this holy shrine, the gentle sin in this: my lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready to stand

was a capulet, he knew it would be a difficult task for him to be with her. Romeo then told the nurse if

allowed to get married at a young age, but now it s pretty much being immature. Romeo and Juliet fell

Loss of Humanities Should Not be a Sacrifice of Eduction...
As the reduction of the Humanities department begins to arise, many students lives are severely
impacted. There are many positive and negative effects which come along with reducing funds in the
Humanities departments. Though many individuals might contradict that reducing humanities may be
a beneficial act for some, In my opinion it should not be lessened primarily because it can lead to
malevolent mishaps. Decreasing humanities will result in excessive unemployment rates, superfluous
amount of students won t be ready for their vocational lives, and many diligent individuals will not be
able to afford paying for the expenses. How many sacrifices are you willing to take in order to get a

This illustrates that Humanities is an essential part to everyone because it contributes students with a
valuable perception and to get a fast career.
Lastly, many students will not be able to afford paying for the expenses. In the article it states,
Technology executives, researchers and business leaders argue that producing enough trained
engineers and scientists is essential to America s economic vitality, national defense and health care,
(Cohen 22 ). This shows that with the reduction of humanities there will be more engineers but less
scientists. Humanities study can make better scientists because it teaches you how to think in a
creative way also in a critical one and to ask questions. These skills are helpful to gain a better
understanding and scientists question everything and prove it by experimenting. Reading the great
literary and philosophical works and coming to grips with the question of what is living for may
become a great luxury that many cannot afford, (Cohen 24). Without being able to afford for it many
people can t get the education they should receive. In my opinion if the scholars begin to lose interest
in their occupation they will major in anything to achieve their career and grasp a job.
To conclude, without Humanities the courses are elongated and students won t be able to achieve a
career if they cannot pay for the the expenses. Receding humanities will result into excessive

However, the situation was a catch 22 as Andrea s trust in nursing would be broken. Without viewing
the episode, I believe Andrea was most affected by the decision for nurse Hathaway to inform the
school of the sex parties and Andrea s participation. This is where I believe nurse Hathaway broke the
ethical principle of veracity. The registered professional nurse, in facilitating the ethical decision
making process, can utilize different frameworks and models [through steps] (NYSNA, 2011). An
alternative to address the ethical issue, the nurse must first identify the issue at hand. Andrea, who was
a minor, was diagnosis with cervical cancer and upon completion of her assessment it was also noted
that Andrea was a participant in sex parties. The ethical dilemma lies in whether the nurse should
break confidentiality to inform her parents of the medical findings and the subjective information
given by Andrea. The second step is to obtain the facts, which in Andrea s case, is supported by
medical assessment, laboratory studies, diagnosis, and Andrea s own verbal statement. Next, the nurse
must evaluate alternative actions plans to handle and help resolve the dilemma. In this case, the nurse
should also consult the hospital case worker, ethics committee, nursing code of ethics, and hospital
guidelines and policies and procedures to help with the final decision or action plan. The ethics

The health of the Australian Indigenous Population is a significant domain in Australia that represents
a myriad of issues that affects the integrity of Indigenous Australians as the traditional owners of the
land. On the contrary, these issues challenge the validity of Australia as a nation committed to closing
the gap between health outcomes of Indigenous Australians in comparison to non Indigenous

Kowal (2015) explores the correlation between early colonisation of the Europeans in the eighteenth
century and its perpetual effects on Australia s Indigenous Population. Kowal (2015) suggested this
correlation to be the organic barometer of continued colonial oppression (pg. 5) relative to the

is the history and development of law enforcement, the hiring of, training of, and career paths of law
enforcement officers, and last the various styles and primary operational strategies of today s law
enforcement agencies. The history of criminal justice system has come a long way from 1653 to where
we are now in present day. America was built on the idea that government will not be centralized. That
is why the Constitution developed a government divided into three branches. Executive, Legislative,
and Judicial. The purpose for a government divided into three branches is to limit the power of the
government. The same idea is what created the criminal justice system in which we have in today s
time. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 limit the power of local law enforcement, and restricts the
government from using military personal to inforce laws on US soil. Furthermore, another authority
that limits the power of law enforcement, but also empowers, is jurisdiction. Jurisdiction is what give
our police officers the right to inforce laws. Each law enforcement agency has its own jurisdiction
they must follow. Political jurisdiction has three major divisions: Federal, state, and local. Each

Essay on Islamic Society s Treatment of Women
Islamic Society s Treatment of Women From the time of birth, a Muslim woman s place in Islamic
society already has a shadow cast over it. Instead of the joyous cry that boys receive of Allah Abkar 1
when they are born, a baby girl is welcomed into the world with a hushed Qurannic prayer.
Although Islam venomously denies its role in the suppression of women, a survey of
Islamic countries reveals that women are denied their humanity. The status of women in Islamic

An example of this is in Bangladeshi society, where women are not allowed to speak the name of their
husbands directly, because it is viewed as immodest and disrespectful.3 In addition to this tradition
that has been adopted from Hinduism, women in Bangladesh are rarely referred to by their first name,
but are instead addressed as men s wives, brother s sisters, or father s daughters.4
It is obvious from this simple fact that women are not viewed as individuals aside from what they give
to the world of men. To supplement these simple practices of suppression, there are also sacred
concepts and beliefs that exist in Islamic countries that display misogyny.5 Fatima
Mernissi writes:
Banning mixing of sexes and advocating the separation of men and women as the measure to alleviate
all political crises is far from being a novelty in Muslim political history. It is a tradition, even a state

Muslim Sovereign in a crisis, facing hunger riots or popular revolt, immediately has recourse to the
traditional practice of destroying the stores of wine and placing a ban on women leaving their homes,
and especially on their using the same transportation as men, reducing them to the state of immobility

The Importance Of Background Checks For Juveniles
In my opinion I believe that every juvenile should have a background check before being sentenced
off to do hard time in a state penitentiary. A lot of teens have committed serious crimes that sometimes
makes you question yourself how they could become such a monster. But in reality those teens
sometimes kids are the ones who have had hard childhoods of any case from rape, abusive parents, or
it could be that they were bullied. There are many different reasons why someone so young could
commit such a serious crime. The court system needs to think about what environment the teen lives

Literary Analysis Of Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll And ...
Allusion and Metaphor in the Poems of Marge Piercy
Although the poems Barbie Doll and A Work of Artifice both deal with the subject of women, Marge
Piercy uses subtly different approaches in tone of voice, metaphorical style, and use of irony. While
Barbie Doll uses the form of allusion to compare a female child to a doll and demonstrates a strong
tone of anger and irony, A Work of Artifice uses metaphor as a way to discuss the subject of women
indirectly. Both poems succeed in making strong statements about the position of women in society
and how they are constructed by society to serve others. In the first stanza of Barbie Doll, Piercy
refers to the child in the third person. She writes about how the young girl is socialized into acting like
a girl, just like all the rest. She writes, This girlchild was born as usual/ and presented dolls that did
pee pee/ and miniature GE stoves and irons/ and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy. (Piercy 1, 4).
In these first four lines, Piercy makes a strong statement that even as children, girls are given the
accessories of grown women. Through play with these toys, they become accustomed to interacting
with domestic appliances and make up products. They are given dolls that are meant to function as
stand ins for their own future infants. By using the words wee and miniature and candy, Piercy is
suggesting that these are conditioning tools that are packaged as appealing toys so that the girl

Persuasive Essay On The Ban On Junk Food
Junk food is becoming an extremely sensitive topic in the United States. Cookies, candy, and fast food
are all considered junk food. It is all bad for someone s diet and is very addictive. There are various
debates on rather it should be allowed in schools or even advertised to children. This topic is so severe
that the US government could be violating the first amendment to prevent a further outbreak of the
food being eaten at such high rates and young ages. Junk food is a nationwide problem and a subject
that has many different effects on schools and businesses.
The ban on vending machines is costing schools a lot of money. A school in Seattle is considering

Weber s Stress On The Formal Aspect Of Organization
This model has been thoroughly critiqued. Many scholars have pointed out that Weber s stress on the
formal aspect of organization in fact ignored the informal structure of relationships which represent
the reality of organizational life. Goal displacement, where rules become an end in themselves is an
instance of an unwanted result of this rule bound method. Parsons highlights the potential rivalry
which may arise between a bureaucrat s authority correlated to his rank in the hierarchy, and that taken
from technical expertise (Parsons, 1960). Other members of the organization will not know who s

bureaucracy rather doubtful.
During the 1980 s and 1990 s the New Public Management approach placed focus on the economy,
efficiency and effectiveness of government organizations, instruments and programs, and higher
quality service delivery. This new model of public sector management, often regarded by many
authors as not a reform of the traditional public administration, but a transformation of the public
sector and its relationship with government and society (Hoos, J., G.Jenei and L. Vass, 2003) emerged
in the most advanced countries in addition to many developing ones.

A School Resource Officer(SRO) is a job that I grew to like during my internship at OCSO. My first
weeks at my internship I worked a lot with SROs. My daily duties consisted of monitoring students,
writing reports, and being a mentor for students. Also, I assisted several officers with varies projects,
in which we presented to the students. Sheriff Murant informed me that our alternate goal is to
creating and maintaining a safe ,secure ,and suitable learning environment for students, teachers, and
staff. Every since I have started working with the different SROs , I can truly say that the work really
hard to make sure every duty is completed with proficiency. I observed how a lot of students looked

The Case Of Planned Parenthood V Casey
Spousal Notice This provision did not hold up in court because the spousal notice was deemed
unconstitutional in the case of Planned Parenthood v Casey (1992) (Casebriefs, n.d., Pennsylvania
General Assembly, 1982).
When Roe v Wade (1973) concluded that women were able to have a legal abortion, abortion rates
soared (New, 2011). When the provisions from the Pennsylvania Abortion Control act were put into
law, abortion rates declined. Between 1990 and 2005, the legal abortions declined significantly by
22.22 percent (New, 2011). It was deemed unconstitutional for men to know about their wives
abortions, contemplating that it may lead to abuse (O Brien, 2011). Men have an ethical argument that
questions, is a wise decision for men s rights to having children?
Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003
The Partial Abortion Act was brought to the attention of the courts in 2003. Before this law, the
method for abortion, usually during the fifth month or later, was partially delivering the baby alive
before the skull was injured. The spinal cord was snipped by the physician, and the baby was killed.
This gruesome act was being performed daily by physicians. This law recognized that the fetus was
now a different being than the mother, instituting of murder, because the fetus was partially delivered
alive, then killed by severing the spinal cord. (The National Right to Life Committee Incorporated,
2014).

The Advantages Of Internet Shopping Vs. Online Shopping
By the end of 21 century the whole world had changed and still looking forward to more moderation
than before and by now online shopping had played an important role in people s lifestyle. But at the
same time, there are a huge number of people prefer to go shopping instead of using online shopping.
So here is the controversial issue that online shopping is superior to the traditional one. Actually,
online shopping is more effective than shopping in stores, for example, it saves time, available in any
time, a variety of product.

Pulmonary Valve Research Paper
The pulmonary valve is one of the semi lunar valve next to aortic valve, lying between the right
ventricle and the Pulmonary artery which takes deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it into
the heart. Generally tricuspid, the pulmonary valve is considered simpler in anatomical sense. A semi
lunar valve separates a ventricle from a blood vessel which the ventricle leads into in its flow path of
blood. The absence of chordae tendinae is prominent in the semilunar valves. The pulmonary leaflets
are names based on the anatomic orientation to the aortic valve faces that lie adjacent to the
pulmonary trunk. The commissures of the right and left leaflets are supported by the supraventricular
crest of the right ventricle which separates the pulmonary valve from the tricuspid valve. The left cusp
is in the anterior region of the interventricular septum while the anterior cusp is located on the delicate
wall of the pulmonary conus. Meanwhile the right cusp is on the ... Show more content on

If there were no valves, blood would flow in all directions inside the heart not pumping the blood to
the body. If the functioning of these valves are effected they would cause increased load on the heart
reducing the distribution rate of the blood inside the body, leading to eventual heart failure. Hence the
timing and structural integrity of these valves is essential for a healthy living. These heart valves are
sometimes diseased and their functioning is effected which is one of the major cause of congestive
heart failure. The atrioventricular valves present between the atria and ventricles, they control the
direction of the flow of blood preventing it from backflow into the atria while the ventricle contract.
Whilst the semilunar valves prevent the backflow of the blood into the ventricles during systole, the
aortic valve and the pulmonary valve prevent the over loading of the

Solomon Reed Archetypes
Archetypes are twelve different models of people s minds. These archetypes are formed by
experiences we had as we evolve throughout our lives. My archetype I have chosen for Solomon Reed
is the sage. The sage s goal is to use intelligence and analysis to understand the world. His biggest fear
is to be misled. The three character traits Solomon Reed has are that he is persistent, prominent and
creative. Solomon is persistent. To be persistent is to constantly pursue a course of action. Solomon s
friends have been trying to get him outside for a long time, but frankly, he s terrified. One night,
despite what he told himself, he manages to gather the courage to walk outside of his house. The
outside to Solomon is, as the book states, a void ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This noteworthy significance he has is the fact that he refuses to step out of his house. He even
provides his logic for it. He says, I have food, I have water and most important it never gets out of
control. By staying in house he can manage his life without fear and that also makes him unique and
unusual or...noteworthy. Finally, Solomon is creative, which means he uses his imagination to solve
problems. A show that Solomon watches is Star Trek. In this show there is a special room called a
Holodeck. Solomon is so infatuated by this room, that he has his father model the garage into a replica
of the Holodeck. Even though it looked cool, this was not the only significance of it to Solomon. It
also, became a comfortable place for Solomon to go when he had a panic attack. This shows his
creativity because he found a functional and fun way to help him cope with his panic attacks. Solomon
is persistent, noteworthy and creative. He is persistent because he decided to go outside despite is
unwillingness to do so. He is noteworthy because unlike most kids, he has unusual behaviors that
result in him staying inside often. And finally, he is creative, because he used his imagination to help
him deal with his health problems in a unique way. Because of these three character traits I believe
that Solomon is a Sage

The Innovation Of The Multinational Companies
In today s competitive world, it is extremely pivotalpre for firms to adapt changes that help them
attain competitive advantage and sustain growth. Therefore, Clayton Christensen introduced the
concept of Disruptive Innovation in 1995 that helped in attaining these radical changes. Disruptive
innovation is a term used to describe the process where a product or service is initially set up at the
bottom of a market and persistently grows in the market, eventually taking over its adversaries.
In 2012, another type of innovation has been introduced by Vijay Govindarajan and Chris Trimble.
Also known as trickle up innovation, Reverse Innovation is the term that is usually used to refer
innovating in emerging markets and moving those products to the wealthy world. This concept was
put forward with the idea of developing solutions for the developing markets rather that minimizing
the price of an already developed product.
Multinational companies have largely followed Glocalization, which is a simple global strategy of
innovating in home countries and exporting the product to other nations with minor modifications to
meet the requirements of local markets. This was a fruitful strategy to monetize in the past especially
if the export markets were other industrialized nations. However, trends have changed over the past
few years. Big companies started to understand that it is essential to innovate and not just export in
order to flourish in upcoming nations.

Miranda Rights in Our Legal System Essay
Does the Miranda Rights benefit the defendant too much where as the courts throw out voluntary
confessions? The Fifth Amendment clearly states No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or
otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases
arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia. (U.S Constitution Fifth Amendment) When
arresting citizens, officers must inform the individual of his or her rights or the statement that was said
will be disregarded in the court of law. (U.S. Gov Info/Miranda: Right of Silence) These rights are
called Miranda rights which protect citizens of the U.S. from self incrimination. (See cases Miranda v
Arizona, Dickerson v United States and Escobedo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cassell also states that crime has increase after the Miranda laws were inforced from the years 1950
1965 he says police officers solve crimes about 60% of the time but fell dramatically. According to
Cassell about 70,000 cases each year become unsolved because of Miranda and criminals are set free
to commit crimes again. The two court cases that still has litigation over till this day is the Dickerson
v. United States, 530 U.S. 428 (2000) and Miranda v Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966) The problem or
issue is that when is a statement from a defendant coerced or voluntary? One of the things that
produce the Miranda rule was the difficulty of determining whether a statement is voluntary or
coerced. Stephen Sharpio says that the courts were required to look at whole range of factors to decide
whether or not the confession was voluntary. The courts say that they will continue to look for the
truth in all cases and give juries all reliable evidence to make the decision. Here are two key cases that
shocked the world in their reversed decisions to throw out confessional evidence and to give a new
trial. Miranda v Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966 )In the Miranda v Arizona case the defendant made
statements in custodial interrogation that violated his Fifth and Sixth Amendment Rights. The
defendant wasn t told his rights and

  • 2. Assessment, Formative Assessments, And A Final Summative... Analysis of Results Key Findings This division unit included a variety of assessment types including a pre assessment, formative assessments, and a final summative post assessment. In addition to the assessments that were scored, an anecdotal notes sheet was also used to keep track of informal assessments like student behaviors, participation, completion of worksheets, lesson activities, note taking skills, and various other aspects of this unit that also affect the overall outcome of the unit (see appendix A). The actual data collected for this unit, which is presented in the previous section, is able to portray the students overall growth and progress towards reaching each of the three students learning objectives for this unit. In total, the class average on the pre assessment was a 43% and the class average on the summative assessment was 78%, therefore showing that as a whole, the class grew by 35%. This shows that the entire group of students as a whole were able to develop in their division skills in a positive way by 35% from the beginning to the end of the unit. While some of the scores portrayed in the data tables are not necessarily showing mastery for all students, the main concern for many of these students was in their ability to show effort, develop division skills, and show growth as learners, and nearly 100% of students were able to achieve that. On the pre assessment for this unit, students were graded based on an analytic rubric (refer to appendix A) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dueling Religious Ideologies Seen in Shakespeare’s The... The dueling religious ideologies seen in Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice serve as the cornerstones not only of the character s arguments during the trial at the end of the play, but of the definitions of the character s own self perceptions. Shylock, the play s villain and the most prominent of the play s three Jewish characters, employs his religious identity in defining his conception of masculinity, connecting his perception of what it means to be male with his profession, which he is allowed to practice due to the tenants of his Jewish faith. This economically defined perception of his own masculinity becomes Shylock s undoing, as the play shows the slow decline of his economic fortune, which comes to represent a kind of ... Within his own home as well, Shylock s masculinity and his position as the head of the household are again defined through his economic dominion over those in his service. His daughter, Jessica, is unmarried and therefore still the economic responsibility of her father, playing not only into Shylock s economic, but also his blood dominion over his only daughter. Isolated from the greater Venetian society by her Jewish faith, Jessica is further isolated by her father s drive to assert his masculinity through his control of her. In Act 2, Scene 5, Shylock demands that Jessica lock up my doors (2.5.30), and not let the sound of shallow foppery enter/My sober house (2.5.36 7). He treats he no better than he does Lancelot, ordering her as a master would his servants and in terms seemingly devoid of all fatherly affection. While Shylock bolsters his own masculinity through these act of fatherly domination of his daughter, he is unaware that Jessica is plotting a means by which she can emasculate her father and escape his influence once and for all. While the verdict of the trial serves as the final blow to Shylock s masculinity, with Antonio s request that he be forcibly converted to Christianity serving as the actual act of castration, the process begins much ... • 4. Martin Luther, A Christian Theologian And Augustinian Monk Gustavo Huangal October 8, 2014 Bible 2nd Assessment Martin Luther Martin Luther, a Christian theologian and Augustinian monk has taught and inspired the Protestant Reformation. His translation of the Bible has helped to develop the correct version of the German language. Martin Luther was a great man. Martin Luther was born on the 10th of November, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. Hans and Margaretha Luder were his parents. In 1501, he had been enrolled in the University of Erfurt at the age of seventeen. But all of that changed during a harsh thunderstorm where a lightning bolt struck near him on his way back to school. With terror he yelled these words, Help St. Anne! I ll become a monk! Since then, he dropped out of law school and started attending monastery there. He would devote himself only to things like fasts, long hour prayers, and constant confessions. He tried a lot to change this, but the more he tried to do this for God, it always seemed that he became more aware of his sinfulness. Martin Luther eventually ended up being good with God personally when his teacher, Johann von Staupitz, ordered that Luther needed more work to distract him from all his thoughts. So then Luther was ordained to the priesthood. So in the year of 1508, Martin Luther started to teach theology at the University of Wittenberg. The difficult time of study for academic degrees and preparation for the hard lectures drove Martin Luther to study the Scriptures very deep. Luther engaged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Diffusion Is The Net Movement Essay NAME: Partrice Davis (Isata Sheriff, Marianne Fafana, Binta Bojang) TITLE: Dye Diffusion INTRODUCTION Diffusion is the net movement in which molecules of a substance move from a various area of high concentration to more substances of lower concentration. Properties of diffusion is the speed of diffusion is influenced by the size of molecule and temperature. The rate of diffusion will depend on the ability of the diffusing molecule to dissolve in the lipid bilayer of the membrane. The rate of diffusion across a membrane is directly proportional to the surface area of the membrane. Diffusion is often referred to as the net motion of particles from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration. The solute is a substance that can be dissolved in a mixture or solution usually in smaller amounts. Factors that would affect the rate consist of the size of the gradient, molecule size, electric charge, lipid solubility, temperature, and the presence of membrane channel proteins. Substances involved in diffusion include gas, small organic ions, and molecules, and lipid soluble materials. Simple diffusion is the unsupported transport across a plasma membrane of the lipid soluble. Certain particles like alcohol, fatty acids, and steroids are able to enter cells easily because they can diffuse through the lipid portion of the membrane. Lipid soluble drugs such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water may be able to enter and leave the cells by diffusing through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disney Springs At Jock Lindsey Yesterday evening we went over to Disney Springs for dinner at Jock Lindsey s, but first we wanted to swing by the new Ganachery Chocolate Shoppe that had just opened a couple days before. We love good chocolate, so we had high hopes for this newest addition to the list of high end foodie shops at Walt Disney World. The Ganachery did not disappoint! For most people, unless you know of some little artisan confectionery, the best chocolates you can get your hands on are Godiva. There is an excitement and ritual to opening that gleaming golden box and breathing in that smell. Amplify the smell, the taste, the creaminess by 10 fold; THEN you have the Ganachery chocolates! You can find the shop kitty corner from Jock Lindsey s, just past the turn off for Raglan Road. When we arrived there was only another couple in line ahead of us and we were allowed inside after only a minute or two. They were limiting the number of people who could shop at one time because the footprint of the floor is incredibly tiny. If I recall they only wanted 7 or 8 customers to be inside at one time. I didn t feel that the short wait was too much to ask, even though some people stomped off after only being in line 30 seconds or so. • 12. The Bloody Massacre In Kings Street Analysis The Bloody Massacre in Kings Street is an engraving done by the great Paul Revere. The engraving depicts the British lined up alongside an officer giving an order to fire, indicating that the British soldiers are the aggressors. He goes on to depict smiles on the faces of some of the soldiers as if to show they are enjoying this brutal murder. The Boston air was thick with tensions between the American colonists and the British leading up to March 5, 1770. This tension began to brew in the early 1760s, as American colonists began to disagree with the British who thought themselves to be the superiors. As the decade progressed, the British felt themselves losing their intimidation factor as American colonists ensued peaceful protests in the streets. On March 5th, 1770, British soldiers are at fault for murdering innocent protesters because, they were practicing carelessness, assuming a position of false superiority, and enacting a last ditch effort to remain in control. As to what happened on the evening of March 5th, 1770, there is a plentiful amount of perspectives that have been studied for centuries. In the decade leading up to the massacre tensions were high, and as it is put by Wheeler and Becker, the Massachusetts colony became a hotbed of opposition to imperial policy innovations (81). There was intense strain on the relationship between the British and the American Colonists. More specifically this rising hostility honed in between the Boston residents, and ... • 13. The Feminine Mystique, By Betty Friedan The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan is related to the second wave of feminism. Betty Friedan wrote about The Problem that has no Name. Throughout the next few pages the analysis will be on The Feminine Mystique with particular attention on The Problem that has no Name. In the 1960s it was uncommon for the women of the time to hold a job and raise a family. Betty Friedan worked until she was pregnant, which she was fired for, and then continued to write freelance for journals and newspapers after she had her children. She wanted to have a job and raise a family. She wanted the best of both worlds. The other part of Betty Friedan that is remarkably admirable is her view on beauty standards. She was not all that pleased that women and men had to look a certain way. How has The Problem that has no Name and The Feminine Mystique changed the outlook on women s problems, how has society dealt with these problems, and how women were able to write about such problems that women face? These are the main concerns that will be addressed throughout the next few pages. By looking at the book and Betty Friedan s life, but, also looking at other sources from the 1960s we can see how life was for women both on the home front and the outside world. The Problem that has no Name, as Betty Friedan called it, is a situation that occurred in the 1960s. The Problem that has no Name happened because people were moving to the suburbs. Before the mid twentieth century the suburbs did not really exist, it was either the countryside or the urban centre. People, particularly women and children, had nothing to do because the suburbs did not have all the activities that they do today. There were no playgrounds, parks, clubs or activities to keep the women or their children busy. The men would go off to work and the wives and children would be stuck at home with nothing to do. Of course, there were some usual activities, such as, cleaning and doing chores but outside of the domestic side of activities there was not much for the women or children to do. They would go to their doctors and get prescriptions to help relieve the pain they felt. This essentially became know as the problem that has no name. The main question that ... • 14. The Students for a Democratic Society of the late 1960’s... The 1960 s was a happening decade. It was a time when many people came together for a common good and stood against injustice. The 60 s is often recalled as the era of the peace sign, one ridden with hippies, marijuana and pacifism. While true of much of the era, some of the movements calling for immense social change began as non violent harbingers of change and later became radicals. The reason for this turn to radicalism, as seen in the case of the Students for a Democratic Society, and as suggested by the change between this organizations earlier Port Huron statement and the later Weatherman Manifesto, is due to the gradual escalation of the Vietnam war. The Port Huron Statement comes from the beginning of a new decade. The fresh tactics of sit ins and protests still show promise of inducing change. The Weatherman Manifesto came after years of protests and continued escalation in Vietnam. During those seven years a lot changed. In 1965 Lyndon Johnson started a large escalation in Vietnam with Operation Rolling Thunder which increased troops and initiated massive bombing campaigns. By the end of 1965 almost 200,000 marines were deployed in Vietnam. The first draft card burnings at University of California, Berkeley took place in 1965. I believe that love at first glance isn t real because you truly have no idea who that person is. If you like somebody because of their looks, it s from lust or desire, not love. You have to know the person, not just go out and propose to every single, pretty person out there, otherwise it could actually lead to bad decisions and later can harm you. When we were all little we got told to stay away from strangers because they will kidnap us, well now that we are older we just assume we are okay, and safe..but we actually aren t. IDS implementation in cloud requires an efficient, scalable and a constructive approach. Many Network based intrusion detection systems(NIDS) are used for the reception of packets from the cloud, but those systems possess lower detection rate, high false positive rate and they fail to resist single point attack. I would like to propose one method which I encountered and found out to be efficient compared to other methods. This unique model has multiple intrusion detection systems (IDSs) that are deployed in each layer of the cloud infrastructure for protecting each Virtual Machine against threats. Another catching feature is that of cloud alliance concept which exchanges mutual alerts to resist the single point attack of failure. Introduction Cloud Computing The term cloud is analogical to Internet. Similarly cloud computing is a model for delivering information technology services in which resources are retrieved from the internet through web based tools and applications, rather than a direct connection to a server.(Corey 2008) Figure 1: Overview of Cloud Computing, Source: Sam Johnston, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cloud_computing.svg Cloud computing is Internet based computing wherein the virtual shared servers provide infrastructure, platform and various resources including customer hosting as a service on pay as you use basis. The demand deposits by Banks issue allow their depositors to make withdraws at their convenience. Therefore a liquidity mismatch exists between a bank s liabilities which are more liquid compared to the bank s assets. It leads to a problem in case a large number of depositors decide to withdraw at the same time. Such a situation is called a bank run. To prevent bank runs there are policies by the banks to stop runs, while the government provides deposit insurance for prevention of bank runs. The canonical model of depositor runs by Diamond and Dybvig (1983) provides an explanation as to why banks issue deposits which have greater liquidity than the bank s assets and also explain why banks are prone to depositor runs (Diamond, Dybvig, 1983). This model focuses on bank runs along other financial crises and the mechanisms to prevent such financial crises. This paper discusses how traditional bank runs is different from runs in the 2008 financial crisis and the innovation of wholesale funding. Nevertheless, what I have observed over the course of my life is how the mass media have predominantly swayed, persuaded and changed various people s views and opinions of the world quite drastically. A journalist s influence on politics and the election process can influence various undecided voters for they are the ones choosing what appears in the media. Pertaining to the press, we observe how exactly mass media play a role in shaping public opinion. Consequently, mass media have changed from a time when the government used the media as a medium to influence voters, committees, and communities. However, the media have the authority and ability to inform the people, yet, repeatedly, the stories given to the public come across as biased and distorted for reasons we don t fully comprehend. Through the practice of slant and sensationalism, we begin to understand the ways the media have begun to form our views and interpretations in society as well as the method by which we choose our nation s leaders. Sometimes it is for safety reasons but sometimes it s just about what the employers or clients are willing to accept. If a certain look or appearance might make a client uncomfortable then the company will decide that such an appearance is inappropriate or might pose an unnecessary risk for that company. While it does not seem right, employers do care about our appearance. Jobs exist to make money and right now there is a tough job market. With a lot of people out there looking for jobs, employers can afford to be picky. This is not about human rights and freedom, but about free enterprise. People are told to not discriminate against someone for something an applicant can t control, and doing so would be illegal. The history of criminal justice system has come a long way from 1653 to where we are now in present day. America was built on the idea that government will not be centralized. While Barbie Doll uses the form of allusion to compare a female child to a doll and demonstrates a strong tone of anger and irony, A Work of Artifice uses metaphor as a way to discuss the subject of women indirectly. Both poems succeed in making strong statements about the position of women in society and how they are constructed by society to serve others. In the first stanza of Barbie Doll, Piercy refers to the child in the third person. She writes about how the young girl is socialized into acting like a girl, just like all the rest. • 40. Weber s Stress On The Formal Aspect Of Organization This model has been thoroughly critiqued. Many scholars have pointed out that Weber s stress on the formal aspect of organization in fact ignored the informal structure of relationships which represent the reality of organizational life. Goal displacement, where rules become an end in themselves is an instance of an unwanted result of this rule bound method. Parsons highlights the potential rivalry which may arise between a bureaucrat s authority correlated to his rank in the hierarchy, and that taken from technical expertise (Parsons, 1960). Other members of the organization will not know who s orders to follow regarding the mismatch the person with the appropriate command or an individual possessing greater expertise. Pulmonary Valve Research Paper The pulmonary valve is one of the semi lunar valve next to aortic valve, lying between the right ventricle and the Pulmonary artery which takes deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it into the heart. Generally tricuspid, the pulmonary valve is considered simpler in anatomical sense. A semi lunar valve separates a ventricle from a blood vessel which the ventricle leads into in its flow path of blood. The absence of chordae tendinae is prominent in the semilunar valves. The pulmonary leaflets are names based on the anatomic orientation to the aortic valve faces that lie adjacent to the pulmonary trunk. The commissures of the right and left leaflets are supported by the supraventricular crest of the right ventricle which separates the pulmonary valve from the tricuspid valve. The left cusp is in the anterior region of the interventricular septum while the anterior cusp is located on the delicate wall of the pulmonary conus. Meanwhile the right cusp is on the ... • 45. Solomon Reed Archetypes Archetypes are twelve different models of people s minds. These archetypes are formed by experiences we had as we evolve throughout our lives. My archetype I have chosen for Solomon Reed is the sage. The sage s goal is to use intelligence and analysis to understand the world. His biggest fear is to be misled. The three character traits Solomon Reed has are that he is persistent, prominent and creative. Solomon is persistent. To be persistent is to constantly pursue a course of action. Solomon s friends have been trying to get him outside for a long time, but frankly, he s terrified. One night, despite what he told himself, he manages to gather the courage to walk outside of his house. The outside to Solomon is, as the book states, a void ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This noteworthy significance he has is the fact that he refuses to step out of his house. He even provides his logic for it. He says, I have food, I have water and most important it never gets out of control. By staying in house he can manage his life without fear and that also makes him unique and unusual or...noteworthy. Finally, Solomon is creative, which means he uses his imagination to solve problems. A show that Solomon watches is Star Trek. In this show there is a special room called a Holodeck. Solomon is so infatuated by this room, that he has his father model the garage into a replica of the Holodeck. Even though it looked cool, this was not the only significance of it to Solomon. It also, became a comfortable place for Solomon to go when he had a panic attack. This shows his creativity because he found a functional and fun way to help him cope with his panic attacks. Solomon is persistent, noteworthy and creative. He is persistent because he decided to go outside despite is unwillingness to do so. He is noteworthy because unlike most kids, he has unusual behaviors that result in him staying inside often. And finally, he is creative, because he used his imagination to help him deal with his health problems in a unique way. Because of these three character traits I believe that Solomon is a Sage ... • 46. The Innovation Of The Multinational Companies In today s competitive world, it is extremely pivotalpre for firms to adapt changes that help them attain competitive advantage and sustain growth. Therefore, Clayton Christensen introduced the concept of Disruptive Innovation in 1995 that helped in attaining these radical changes. Disruptive innovation is a term used to describe the process where a product or service is initially set up at the bottom of a market and persistently grows in the market, eventually taking over its adversaries. In 2012, another type of innovation has been introduced by Vijay Govindarajan and Chris Trimble. Also known as trickle up innovation, Reverse Innovation is the term that is usually used to refer innovating in emerging markets and moving those products to the wealthy world. This concept was put forward with the idea of developing solutions for the developing markets rather that minimizing the price of an already developed product. Multinational companies have largely followed Glocalization, which is a simple global strategy of innovating in home countries and exporting the product to other nations with minor modifications to meet the requirements of local markets. This was a fruitful strategy to monetize in the past especially if the export markets were other industrialized nations. However, trends have changed over the past few years. Big companies started to understand that it is essential to innovate and not just export in order to flourish in upcoming nations. Retiring growth of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the things that produce the Miranda rule was the difficulty of determining whether a statement is voluntary or coerced. Stephen Sharpio says that the courts were required to look at whole range of factors to decide whether or not the confession was voluntary. The courts say that they will continue to look for the truth in all cases and give juries all reliable evidence to make the decision.
