Puritans Impact On American Society
The name, American Society, represents a society that many believed was shaped by America
itself. However, Puritanism shaped America s ethical and political views, and the Great Awaken
shaped the people s belief on religious freedom in the nation. Therefore, these events did not only
shape the time prior to the Civil War, but shaped America for times to come. Puritans did a variety
of things for America, other than make people of this age think they re some Pharisees or some
weird freaks over religion. They actually helped in contributing Americans devotion to the practice
of education. Puritans had a zeal for education and that zeal was founded in their origins. In the
view of the Puritans, the Biblewas their central to Christian education. They desired education and
enlightenment for everyone, especially the common people. They wanted people to be able to
read and understand the Bible for themselves in order perspire in the wondrous religion they call
their life. Reading of the Bible was necessary to living a devoted life to God. The education of
the next generation was important to further purify the church and perfect social living in order to
enter the gates of heaven. This view goes back to Martin Luther s idea, who stated, Above all, the
foremost reading for everybody, both in the universities and in the schools, should be Holy
Scripture... I would advise no one to send his child where the Holy Scriptures are not supreme.
Once the Puritans ventured to the

Mary, Perfection Of The Ark Of The Covenant
Mary, Perfection of the Ark of the Covenant Introduction The Ark of the New Covenant is one of
the most eminent and common titles attached to the person of the Blessed Virgin Mary in respect
to the fulfillment of the Old Testament. In my presentation, I will be demonstrating how the
Blessed Virgin perfected the Ark of the Old Testament as the physical dwelling place of God s
presence on earth. Therefore, I will be discussing three main points: 1.Meaning of the old Ark and
that of Mary, as the New Ark 2.Essential characters of the old Ark and The blessed Virgin Mary
3.The fulfillment of the contents of the old Ark 4.Mary s Visitation to Her Cousin, Elizabeth 5.The

However, we read in Rev 11:19: Then God s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his
covenant was seen within his temple . This passage, along with the mention of a woman clothed
with the sun, who is about to give birth to a son (Rev 12:1) and the huge dragon seeking to
destroy her son after being born (See Rev. 12), reinforces the truth about Mary being revealed as
the New Ark. Pope Pius X says: Everyone knows that this woman signified the Virgin Mary, the
stainless one who brought forth our head...John, therefore, saw the Most Holy Mother of God

Assisi Chapter 9 Summary
The poor man of Assisi, Francis, had little education and lacked literacy skills, but these
shortcomings did not become an obstacle in sharing the important message of the gospel. He
was not a scholarly saint like Augustine or Thomas Aquinas. Yet, Francis dedication touched
many through his religious writings and compilation of poems, songs and prayers. Francis was
not a gifted student as a child and he received no university or seminary degree. His conversion
experience came in the form of dreams where God commissioned him to rebuild His church and
care for the poor. He took these marching orders seriously and committed himself to following
Christ in reality and truth as revealed in the Scriptures . Chapter 10 The Death of Francis In 1225,
Francis lived in Rieti and suffered many ailments. He was unable to eat, impacted by dropsy, edema
excess water accumulation. Severe ophthalmia, with its extreme sensitivity to light and pain from
inflammation of the mucous membranes of the eye, proved excruciating. He was not a very co
operative patient apparently. At the time, as Francis death drew close, he was moved to the

Francis was sincerely fond of Jacoba, who showed him great hospitality every time he visited
Rome. Most interestingly, it is said just as the messenger was about to leave with the letter, Lady
Jacoba arrived with all the items he had requested in the letter. Although there was a rule not
allowing women at Portiuncula, one so close that he even called her a brother and excepted her

Contagion Ethical Issues
In the infectious disease unit, the main focal point consisted of showing the audience how the
spread of a major virus may occur in population. In this case, we were presented with two
movies: Contagion and 28 Days Later. These movies both displayed an infectious disease, which
is spread through animals causing harm to people. A scenario that presented in Contagion
seemed to be realistic possibility because a simple transmission of disease from an animal can
happen. If the virus is unknown and no vaccine is available, it could certainly cause a lot of harm
to a large population of people. Likewise, another possibility was also presented in 28 Days Later,
where the viewers see scientist talking about monkey being infected with a virus.... Show more

The overall idea of testing on animals should be considered to be unethical. In terms of medical
research purposes, it is necessary to continue making progress in the medical field, especially in
terms of infectious diseases. The main ethical concern that receives the most criticism from
activists and animal welfare groups is the overall treatment of animals. As seen in the opening
sequence of 28 days later, the animal activists were trying to free the monkeys that were held in
medical research lab. According to Blakemore, In fact, animal research has contributed to 70 per
cent of Nobel prizes for physiology or medicine (Blakemore, 2008). One thing that cannot be denied
is the usefulness of animal testing in the medical field. The fact that is has made a substantial
contribution in terms of developing medicines that can be used in current times. The medical
field seems that is always expanding due to the increasing technology present in current times.
However, it still appears that we are not at that particular point in time, where animal testing can
be completely phases out of medicine. The main purpose of any medical researcher is to find a
cure for genetic disorder or incurable diseases. We need to evaluate all options in the medical field
because these could help save a lot of people s lives. Furthermore, researchers that are dedicated to
their jobs are not attempting to harm the animal in any manner. Taking that into account, the best
idea would be to get their insight from animal right organizations, so they promote a certified
ethical practice of animals testing. Hence, it is a good way to monitor the practices of animal
testing in science testing labs. Throughout the process, the animals that get tested on should be
monitored health wise and retired at the end of the session of

Snow Flower And The Secret Fan Analysis
In the novel Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, by Lisa See, the role of women presented by the
author incorporates historical context of societal value and conventions, reveals the agonizing
subjugation necessary for life, and explores the subtleties of female power in a male centric
world. Through characterization, dialogue, and imagery, the meaning behind the story of two
friends reveals itself. Set in rural China in the early to mid 1800s, historical context plays a major
role in defining the value placed on women by their society. Seen from the beginning, a young girl
in a family acts only as a burden on them by being an extra mouth to feed and less valuable than a
son. Young women at the time were only given value based on who they married, whether they had
sons, and if they followed the conventions set before them. The main character, Lily states that her
mother looked at her as a temporary mouth to feed and a body to dress until I went to my
husband s home (See 12). By setting the stage of the time period, See defines the role of women as
child bearers first, and servants to her husband s family second. Despite protests to that idea in
contemporary times, women then understood their roles as being miserable so that their children
may one day succeed. Pain and convention controlled a womans everyday life, such as, When a girl,
obey your father; when a wife, obey your husband; when a widow, obey your son (See 24). Women
held the lowest status in the social

They both end up settling their differences, but become food to wolves. At the beginning of the
story each is the others antagonist and later they both grow as people and form an alliance wishing
the other good fortune. When first meeting, both men hold a gun to each other, Each had a rifle in

to play the clarinet. I loved playing the clarinet; it was one of my favorite things to do. Joining the

Roger Bushell was an Auxiliary Air Force pilot who organized and led the escape from the
infamous German prison camp Stalag Luft III. Roger was first made into a prisoner of war
(POW) when he arrived at Dulag Luft. He was made into a permanent part of the British staff
under senior British officer Wing Commander Harry Day. His job in the POW camp was to help
new air force captured soldiers get used to their own life as a POW. Roger was always thinking
about escape. He quickly became friends with Fleet Air Arm pilot Jimmy Buckley and Day. The
three of them soon formed a committee known for being responsible for all escape attempts. Roger

concentration camp. This led to him being considered a Prisoner of Waror a (POW) for short. Life
in the concentration camp was terrible. The German security guards were armed with torches
and steel spikes just to torment the already dying prisoners. This made the prisoners very angry
and they wanted to escape, so they started digging tunnels. Though Eventually the Germans
caught on. They dug sound detectors into the ground around the barbed wire fences at the
border of the camp to pick up the tunnel digging sounds, and like clockwork they found tunnel

a few people escaped this way. One prisoner dressed up as a ferret and crawled away to freedom,
and the Germans didn t suspect a thing. If you were caught doing something undesirable as a

Essay On Hip Dysplasia
Statement of Purpose
People with hip dysplasia may be able to have periacetabular osteotomy(PAO) surgery other than a
full hip replacement to correct the dysplastic hip.
These findings could appeal to individuals who might question if they have hip dysplasia. It could
also appeal to the individuals that have developed hip dysplasia and are questioning if they could
benefit more from a hip replacement or other methods. My interest in this topic began a few years
ago during a recreational soccer season. My hips both were not as strong as they were during
childhood. Over the course of my high school career, I have spent multiple hours at different
specialists for my hips, physical therapy and hydrotherapy. Shortly after my sophomore year of
high school, I decided I needed to have periacetabular osteotomy surgery. I know that there are
many options to correct a hip, however, I am wondering if a PAO would be better for someone as a
young adult. Brief Review of Literature
The bone structure of a normal hip consists of an acetabular and a femoral head, which is covered
with articular cartilage, a smooth and strong cover. There is then a ring of cartilage which is called
the acetabular labrum. This provides stability, maintains joint fluid pressure and distributes weight
to the femoral head. With poor coverage of the femoral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

demonstrated recovery for a PAO. Lastly, I knew that there was an international hip dysplasia
institute and thought that I would be able to find sufficient information regarding hip

Many of the players who helped make the decision had personal goals tied into the outcome;
thusly it is hard to distinguish if certain players were acting in the best interest of the state as a
whole, or if they were trying to accrue their own personal rewards. The states themselves as a
whole do not in fact make decisions, the leaders of each country do and while it is easy to say that
we hope they act rationally many times this is untrue. An example of irrational behavior is found in
the actions of both Lyndon B. Johnson and George W. Bush. Both of these men were president of
the United States during a period of war, Johnson had the Vietnam War and Bush has Iraq. What
the two have in common is their attitude towards negative information, specifically ignorance.
Two men who both were given the task of bringing peace to a small В‘defenseless country which
were ruled by new forces of В‘evil and neither of them wanted to hear anything to the contrary. As
both operations seemed to require far more resources then the United States was willing to commit,
warnings from several sources were ignored clearly illustrating irrational behavior. The state then
pursued courses of action based on irrational decisions with one sided facts and clearly was
doomed from the start.
At the other end of the spectrum is liberalism. Liberalism takes the

Essay about William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth was born April 7, 1770, at Cockermouth in Cumberland, England. His poetry,
and especially his poems on solitude, must have been heavily influenced by the death of his
mother and the splitting up of his family when he was only eight (Kilvert 1). At that time, fate sent
him to live in Hawkshead, England, where his teacher started him writing poetry. Wordsworth got
his higher education at Cambridge, his memories of which play a part in his later poetry (Noyes
201). Fate again stepped in when, as a young man, he received an inheritance, which gave him the
freedom to study literature. One might guess that this is when he first became part of the Romantic
movement, (Pinion, 21).

As the insurer doesn t know which agents are high risk or low risk, the company will not offer
different types of full insurance to match risk types, as high risk agents will prefer contracts that
are designed for low risk agents. To solve this, the insurer will offer low risk agents less insurance
this ensures that high risk types do not have the incentive to choose a contract for low risk
customers, as they will want more insurance, because they know they will need to claim more. This
ensures that the insurance company maintains non negative profit, as high risk individuals cost
more to insure. However, these solutions carry agency costs, because the result is less efficient
than if symmetric information was present. I believe that risk neutrality of an insurance company is
a sufficient condition for insurance to take place. Insurance companies are risk neutral to maximise
expected profits, therefore as the principal, will design contracts to achieve this, as well as making
certain that the agent picks the desired effort (i.e to prevent a bad state of the world) for that
contract, and to make sure that the agent even picks the contract in the first place. Making sure
incentives are compatible, and ensuring participation by the correct risk types, are constraints on
maximising expected profits. If an insurance company was risk averse, without the availability of
symmetric information, they cannot

Argumentative Essay On Black Licorice
The US Food and Drug Administration warned on Monday against too much consumption of
black licorice, a popular Halloween treat. Consuming 2 ounces of black licorice daily for at least
two weeks can trigger arrhythmia and other medical problems, Healthday reported. The
regulator pointed out that glycyrrhizin, a compound derived from licorice root, can cause a
drop in potassium level in the body. It could lead to abnormal heart rhythm, hypertension,
congestive heart failure, lethargy, and swelling, the FDA warned. There will be no permanent
health problem if the consumption of black licorice stops. The warning is mainly for people 40
years old and above. Also for kids Even if it is mostly children who go on trick and treat during
Halloween to collect a lot of candies and chocolates, the FDA said its warning applies to all ages
if too much of black licorice is eaten. The agency advised people who experience muscle
weakness or irregular heart rhythm to stop eating the sweet immediately and contact a health
provider. It can also interact with some medication, dietary supplements, and herbs. Among men,

Calvin Coolidge Beliefs
While drafting out my essay on the values President Coolidge and I share, I began to wonder
what people thought of when they heard Calvin Coolidge . I asked many acquaintances and the
results shocked me. Majority of those that I spoke with about President Coolidge did not know
much about him. They felt as though he was not a good or popular president because they had not
heard much about him during school, unlike other presidents such as President Lincoln and
President Washington. The only thing that came to their mind was that he looked like an
intelligent man and he was known as Silent Cal . I was more than just taken aback by my
findings: I was disappointed. My 30th president stayed within his values and didn t try to be well
known; because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because without one, you can never have the other. Throughout his autobiography,
President Coolidge wrote about one teacher more than the rest: Charles E. Garman. He wrote
about this man because he wanted to share what he learned from Mr. Garman with his readers.
He related it to something important to him, so might we understand it. When I read about how
President Coolidge felt about his teachers at Black River Academy, I thought I was reading a
mirror: I feel the same about teachers who ve taught me in Oak Grove. I have been blessed to be
able to attend a school whose teachers truly care about the students. The relationship s I ve made

The Importance Of Ece s To Create A Nurturing Environment
It is very important to create a nurturing environment for the refuge children, who are newcomers to
Canada, as they come from war zones where they have might have gone through loss and trauma.
We need to encourage and support their language learning and adjust to their new environment by
being sensitive to their needs. When the ECE s provide a loving, caring, understanding and
nurturing environment, we can build stronger positive relationship with the newcomer families and
their children, which will give the families confidence about their future in Canada, and help them
settle down and call this country their home (Sophie, 2010). Consistent nurturing and respectful
relationship between adults and children brings in great accomplishments. By providing a safe,
loving, trusting and encouraging environment, children grow in the direction of their interest builds

Gun Control and the Bill of Rights Essay
George Mason, a co author of the Bill of Rights, said To disarm the people is the best and most
effectual way to enslave them If this is true, why would anyone try to ban firearms in the U.S?
Guns have been a part of American history since we declared independence from Britain in 1776.
Many people believe that removing weapons from the hands of citizens is the only way to stop
criminals from shooting down people at malls and kids at schools, but this is not the case.
Outlawing guns is not the answer for effectively reducing gun crime.
According to Wikipedia, a firearm is a portable gun, being a barreled weapon that launches one or
more projectiles often driven by the action of an explosive force. The first firearms were invented in

Murder by knives was first, followed by clubs, then strangulation. It seems that by banning guns,
people used other ways to kill. On the other hand, Switzerland s gun policy is very different than
other nations. It requires all men to go through militia training at age twenty and issue an assault
rifle when they complete it. Switzerland has the lowest gun crime rates in the world, despite giving
everyone a high powered, fully automatic firearm.
Another hot topic that politicians debate about is allowing assault rifles, or select fire guns
(capable of semi automatic or fully automatic fire),which have the ability to shoot rounds as long
as you can hold the trigger down, in the hand of American citizens. Currently, eight states have
banned owning assault weapons in some sense. Some may argue that these guns are overkill, and
aren t practical for hunting or self defense, whereas other firearms fill that position well. In some
cases that might be true, but if multiple intruders enter your home armed, a pistol with a low
capacity clip may not suffice. Contrary to popular belief, gun crime has dropped significantly over
the past 20 years. Since 1993, violence involving guns has gone down 49% according to Pew
Research. The media is to blame for sensationalizing shootings and with the internet s influence an
argument that got out of hand can be seen as an all out battle. The Second

The Sunflower Simon Wiesenthal Response
The Holocaust was a genocide that occured from 1933 1945, and one of its survivors was Simon
Wiesenthal. Wiesenthal was an architect before he was captured by the Nazis. After he was set
free, he dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on
in his life, he wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the
Lemberg concentration camp where he got roped in to listening to a dynig SS soldier, Karl. Right
before, Wiesenthal leaves Karl s room, Karl asks for Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he
persecuted, for forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl s room without forgiving him, and then asks the
readers, What would I have done? At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked
to respond to his question, had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose
Hobday s. Hobday believed that Wiesenthal should have apologized to Karl because it would
have given Karl a sense of peace, making it easier for him to pass on. Hobday has the correct
answer to Wiesenthal s question because even though all of the Jews that Karl persecuted are
dead and will not be able to apologize to him in person, Karl just wants someone to know that he
is sorry for his actions. Jose Hobday was a Franciscan nun of Seneca, Iroquois, and Seminole
descent. She wrote about Catholic and Native American spirituality, and her writings have appeared

Using Scientific Inquiry Model in High School Biology
Rationale
In classrooms today, educators are constantly seeking and implementing engaging lessons that will
increase student knowledge and skills. The intent of the activities is to help students become
independent learners and use process thinking skills. Students seem to learn best by actually
directing their own learning and doing, rather than being led from step to step by the teacher. In
science, it is especially important that students learn by inquiry and use more of a hands on
approach to learning scientific concepts. According to Wilke and Straits (2005), inquiry based
learning is where students explore a problem using the processes and tools of the discipline. It is
often shown in a way that resembles the scientific method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Philosophy of Teaching
In society today, the world continues its expansion in diversity; therefore, teachers must
accommodate to fulfill the new developments of education. This diversity includes expanding
educational philosophies that truly benefit the future leaders of tomorrow. My personal
educational philosophy is one that comes from experiences as well as what I would like to see in
my career as a teacher.
My belief as to the purpose of education includes many different aspects. The first is that schools
should promote students to be more independent, while encouraging one to also interact with
society. In my opinion, students are encouraged to be themselves and pursue their own individual
interest while still respecting the natural and understood laws of society. Next, a teacher should
encourage students to use various thinking methods compared to a simple means of problem
solving by direct instruction. Alberts (2008) states, What I mean by teaching science as inquiry is,
at a minimum allowing students to conceptualize a problem that was solved by a scientific
discovery, and then forcing them to wrestle with possible answers to the problem before they are
told the answer. This statement suggests that students are required to think

The Real Science behind Energy Drinks
1. When we say that something gives us energy , what does that mean? What is a biological
definition of energy?
When we say that something gives us energy it means we can get sugars or carbohydrates and
lipids from that. Humans need to eat carbohydrates and lipids to provide fuel for our body s
metabolism. Human body must have these chemicals in order to function and different food
sources provide different types of energy. The biological definition of energy is the element that is
stored by cells in biomolecules (carbohydrates and lipids). The energy is released when there

Importance Of Food Labels By The International Food...

Importance of Food Labels
A research done in 2003 by the International Food Information Council Foundation indicated that
many consumers will refer to food labels when deciding which food item to purchase or consume. (
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. ) Many consumers say that food labels are hard to
observe and read. Food labels objective is mostly to inform consumers about the products
characteristics which actually play an important role in purchasing or the decision making
process of the food item. The government should be more diligent in monitoring the presence of
food labels and the accuracy of their claims given the recent rise of health issues, higher
frequency of food allergies, and increasing population of more aware consumers. Diabetes is a
disease that can lead to heart disease, stroke kidney disease, blindness and dental disease. It is a
disorder in a way the body uses digested food for energy. While there are different types of
diabetes type two diabetes is generally caused by a combination of obesity and physical
inactivity. ( Causes of Diabetes )There is no known medical cure but treatments vary for each
individual but a management strategy is agreed upon between the doctor and patient. In order for
patients to manage diabetes they have to know exactly what they are putting in their body, if food
labels are misleading or incorrect it will cause a medical emergency and in some cases lasting

Anne Bradstreet In Reference To Her Children Essay
In 1678, many of Anne Bradstreet s poems were published for public view. Throughout her poems
Bradstreet tends to use symbolism to express her innermost thoughts and feelings. One of these
poems is In Reference to Her Children, 23 June, 1659. Three of the most significant symbols in
this poem are the representation of her family as a flock of birds, the dangers in the world, and the
expression of her feelings toward her children.
Anne Bradstreet s representation of her family as a flock of birds symbolizes two different
things. First, it symbolizes her connection to God and her desire to please Him. She represents
herself and her family as birds because they were also creations of God; however, they are not
human, therefore they do not sin. The bird family also symbolizes freedom. As her young grow
up and spread their wings, they leave the nest to fly on their own. This represents one of the facts
of life; children grow up and leave their parents homes to find their own way to make it in the world.

Four have already left home, one will leave soon and the other three still dwell in the house with
her. She then begins to express the dangers of the world around her in a bird s point of view. For
example, she is afraid that her young will fall in a fowler s snare, be caught in a net or by
birdlime on twigs, or hurt by a hawk. In a human world a fowler s snare might be fallings into
the hands of trickery, robbery, or any other type of crime. Caught by net or birdlime might
represent being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a hawk inflicted injury might symbolize
being wounded or killed by an Indian or criminal. She fears for the lives of her children and
worries that harm will come to them. This also represents an aspect of the parent child relationship.
No matter how old children get, their parents still worry about the things they do and the choices

Connection To Australian Communities

Bring the community connection back to life. In every town, in every city from the West Coast of
Tasmania to Arnhem in the Northern Territory. Every Australian is part of many broad
communities. But why would I write about bringing the Australian community back to life you may
ask. Here is my answer, I grew up in a small town on the West Coast of Tasmania, our community
was strong, our community was fun, nevertheless, we always had something to do around the town,
but now that community and many other communities have slowly died with major need of revival
for Australia s youth and families across our pristine country.
Our communities need a shakeup to give our local youth and families the best chance in life.
Currently, the communities have lost contact with the people causing fewer opportunities within
local areas and leaving Australia s youth jaded with few options to make the utmost of their
childhood. I believe it is important for communities to be in contact with each other to reconnect

Racism In The American Dream
Racism thrives on an individual s ability to dehumanize another. Too make them feel as if you
are not anyone, worthless, you are not worth you (Rankin, 139). The reality is that some view
you as not worth the same dignity and respect as everyone else simply by virtue of the color of
your skin. That it is acceptable to be forced into the center of attention only to receive micro
aggressions against you simply for existing. That it is acceptable to not be recognized, to be
brushed aside, to be perceived as not worthy enough for any form of positive attention. To see the
terrible truth of life that one cannot will themselves to escape on their own (Letter to My Son).
Collectively, as a society, we must commit to change in order to allow everyone to achieve the so
called American dream .

The Yaak Valley Of Northern Montana
The Yaak Valley of northern Montana is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the continental
United States. It has cores of roadless wilderness that have been untouched by human activity and I
believe that they should remain as such. The biodiverse ecosystem of the Yaak Valley benefits its
human and non human inhabitants and we should protect it from the detrimental effects of human
activities, especially the violent changes caused by large timber companies and their practice of
clear cut logging. There are sustainable and pragmatic solutions that would address both human
needs and protecting the biodiverse ecosystem.
The Yaak Valley of Northern Montana is one of the most biodiverse areas of untouched wilderness

Role Of Homeobox Geness
Introduction The expression of homeobox (or HOX) genes is essential for the development of the
normal embryo. These genes encode proteins that act as transcription factors called homeoproteins
which regulate development of the embryo across the anterior posterior (AP) axis. Homeoproteins
are the ultimate regulators of development; however mutations in the homeobox genes specifically
HOXC10 are oncogenic (by gain of function mutations) and aid in the proliferation of certain cancer
types and developmental disorders. Elucidation of HOXC10, its function in embryonic
development at the molecular level, and characteristics shared among the function(s) of its
paralogues should allow for better understanding of HOXC10 s role primarily... Show more content

In embryonic development spatial patterning along with HOX gene expression indicates the order
of paralogues within the cluster according to 3 distinct aspects: (1.) spatial collinearity indicates
the position of a HOX gene or cluster of genes from 3 to 5 which induces embryonic development
along the AP axis; (2.) temporal collinearity indicates the position of a HOX gene or cluster of
genes from 3 to 5 that coordinates HOX gene expression during development; and (3.) posterior
prevalence HOX genes that reside closer to 5 areas of the cluster will possess a dominant
phenotype compared to those that reside closer to 3 areas of the cluster. The nature of these aspects
provides further insight into the complex nature of gene expression, regulation, and the basis of
morphogenesis. Given that there are 4 paralogous clusters these actions of collinearity suggest some
form of redundancy in HOX gene function (Shah, N paper).
The role of HOXC10 in development: Homeodomain containing gene 10 (HOXC10) belongs to the
HOXC gene cluster that resides on chromosome 12 (ACAMPORA_HUMAN HOX FAMILY).
Expression of the gene leads to the production of a transcription factor that possesses a helix turn
helix motif and functions as either a monomer or heterodimer containing a unique three amino acid
loop extensions called TALE. TALE functions as a co factor and promotes embryonic development
and tumorigenesis. Nonetheless common TALE domains

trade names of this drug are DiaBeta and Glynase. The chemical name is 1 [ [p [2 (5 chloro o
anisamido) ethyl]phenyl] sulfonyl] 3 cyclohexylurea. Doses up to 0.75 12 mg/day can be given
as a single dose or divided doses. The circulation of the glyburide is that protein binding is
extensive and half life is 10 hours. It is excreted through the renal and biliary system. Glyburide
acts as an oral blood glucose lowering drug. The drugs uses include binding and activating the
sulfonylurea receptor 1, which causes depolarization. This results in an increase in intracellular
calcium in the cells and stimulation of insulin release. Major drug interactions are noted between
glyburide and

Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates Essay
Feminists vs. Playboy Playmates
Naked women have been in the front of feminist s minds for several decades. Especially when they
are pictured in soft pornography magazine Playboy. Feminists for years have been yelling that
Playboy is harmful to both men and women. Males around the country have countered that there is
nothing wrong with their Playboy, it is merely a harmless vice. The problem I see with Playboy is
not that it demeans women or subjugates them, and its not that it leads to violence. The main
problem is that it fosters unrealistic images and expectation in men s minds about women. But
since there is little we can do about it now, we merely need to take that first step and recognize
Playboy for what it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I interviewed one person on each side of this issue, to get the token opinion that is popular on
their side of the issue. On this side is Ursula, an extremely quotable quasi feminist who makes a
strong case for her side.[1] Ursula sums up the feminist argument by saying, Guys see the idealized
sex goddess, how can women compete? First and foremost feminists argue that the idea of a naked
woman in a magazine is degrading to that woman in particular and to women as a whole; Playboy
and men s magazines in general make women out to be sex objects (Burstyn, 42). Playboy
objectifies women, leaving out the human side (Burstyn, 43). Feminists also say that soft
pornography leads to hard pornography which can then lead to violent crimes against women. Rick
Heibert in his article A hard line against soft porn says that psychologists have found that viewing
soft pornography inevitably leads to harder material (par 4). Others would take this a step further
and contend that the viewing of violent pornography then leads to an increased likelihood of
committing a violent sexual crime (Cramer 202). These articles would present statistical research
backing themselves up, more likely than not the Meese Commission will make it in to any feminist
critique.
Feminists present a third argument saying that magazines such as Playboy lead to depression or
anorexia in women, especially amongst impressionable young women (Chancer, 85). There is little
argument against teenagers

My Career As A Teacher
This paper gives a background on how I developed as a professional and who was a primary mentor
in my life. It delves briefly into my past and explains how I came to be in the military, while also
explaining how a certain person was able to contribute to my professional growth. This paper
examines my life as I progress from high school student to a NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) and
a few of the challenges I had to endure.
Developing a Professional
What does being a mentor mean? In my opinion, it means teaching, guiding, and letting a person
make small mistakes so they have less of a chance of making a big one. I have been fortunate in
my short military career to have many mentors, both great and some not so great. One who has ...

My husband and I split up a few months after graduation and unless I was willing to give up
custody of my daughter, I would not be able to join the military. So I made other plans and
started working towards a different goal. As fate would have it however, my husband and I
reconciled, worked things out and got back together. Two weeks later I was called by my recruiter
and was told that a spot had just opened up and I could leave in just a few short days. I decided to
go for it and the rest is history.
For my first duty station, I was assigned to Mountain Home AFB in Idaho. I arrived there in May
2010 with my husband, daughter, and pregnant with my second child. Shortly thereafter I became
a single parent and was learning to develop both as a parent and as an airman. I was fortunate to
be working with many wonderful people who might not have understood my situation but were
very supportive. Marna was one such person. She was a retired Chief Master Sergeant who had
worked in pharmacy all her career and had a wealth of experience under her belt. She became my
first mentor and helped teach me more about pharmacy in the military world and the extra duties
that came along with it. Whenever I had questions, she would be there to answer them and if she
didn t have the answer, she could help me find the person who did.
During my first year at Mountain Home, I had gone through a lot and Marna helped me to focus on
the good things and remember that life always

Homosexuality By Andrew Sullivan Summary
In Andrew Sullivan brief essay What is a Homosexual Sullivan speaks of the relationship that
society has with the idea of someone being a homosexual. He also brings up the struggles and
different coping mechanisms that one will take to avoid being exiled by society. While some
embrace their sexuality like Sullivan s class mate who insisted on wearing full makeup to
school, others for instance would try to out jock the jocks (128) fight for respect for if they could
only gain that then nothing else would matter. On the other hand, teens like Andrew, goals were to
conceal their sexuality so as to become more morally and sociably acceptable. Thus leading boys
and girls alike to live a life of deceit , impersonation and appearance focusing

  • 2. Puritans Impact On American Society The name, American Society, represents a society that many believed was shaped by America itself. However, Puritanism shaped America s ethical and political views, and the Great Awaken shaped the people s belief on religious freedom in the nation. Therefore, these events did not only shape the time prior to the Civil War, but shaped America for times to come. Puritans did a variety of things for America, other than make people of this age think they re some Pharisees or some weird freaks over religion. They actually helped in contributing Americans devotion to the practice of education. Puritans had a zeal for education and that zeal was founded in their origins. In the view of the Puritans, the Biblewas their central to Christian education. They desired education and enlightenment for everyone, especially the common people. They wanted people to be able to read and understand the Bible for themselves in order perspire in the wondrous religion they call their life. Reading of the Bible was necessary to living a devoted life to God. The education of the next generation was important to further purify the church and perfect social living in order to enter the gates of heaven. This view goes back to Martin Luther s idea, who stated, Above all, the foremost reading for everybody, both in the universities and in the schools, should be Holy Scripture... Mary, Perfection Of The Ark Of The Covenant Mary, Perfection of the Ark of the Covenant Introduction The Ark of the New Covenant is one of the most eminent and common titles attached to the person of the Blessed Virgin Mary in respect to the fulfillment of the Old Testament. In my presentation, I will be demonstrating how the Blessed Virgin perfected the Ark of the Old Testament as the physical dwelling place of God s presence on earth. Therefore, I will be discussing three main points: 1.Meaning of the old Ark and that of Mary, as the New Ark 2.Essential characters of the old Ark and The blessed Virgin Mary 3.The fulfillment of the contents of the old Ark 4.Mary s Visitation to Her Cousin, Elizabeth 5.The appearance of the Ark of New Covenant in the heavenly temple 1.The... This passage, along with the mention of a woman clothed with the sun, who is about to give birth to a son (Rev 12:1) and the huge dragon seeking to destroy her son after being born (See Rev. 12), reinforces the truth about Mary being revealed as the New Ark. Pope Pius X says: Everyone knows that this woman signified the Virgin Mary, the stainless one who brought forth our head...John, therefore, saw the Most Holy Mother of God already in eternal happiness, yet travailing in a mysterious ... • 4. Assisi Chapter 9 Summary The poor man of Assisi, Francis, had little education and lacked literacy skills, but these shortcomings did not become an obstacle in sharing the important message of the gospel. He was not a scholarly saint like Augustine or Thomas Aquinas. Yet, Francis dedication touched many through his religious writings and compilation of poems, songs and prayers. Francis was not a gifted student as a child and he received no university or seminary degree. His conversion experience came in the form of dreams where God commissioned him to rebuild His church and care for the poor. He took these marching orders seriously and committed himself to following Christ in reality and truth as revealed in the Scriptures . Chapter 10 The Death of Francis In 1225, Francis lived in Rieti and suffered many ailments. He was unable to eat, impacted by dropsy, edema excess water accumulation. Severe ophthalmia, with its extreme sensitivity to light and pain from inflammation of the mucous membranes of the eye, proved excruciating. He was not a very co operative patient apparently. At the time, as Francis death drew close, he was moved to the Portiuncula Chapel where he lived with his Brothers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Contagion Ethical Issues In the infectious disease unit, the main focal point consisted of showing the audience how the spread of a major virus may occur in population. In this case, we were presented with two movies: Contagion and 28 Days Later. These movies both displayed an infectious disease, which is spread through animals causing harm to people. A scenario that presented in Contagion seemed to be realistic possibility because a simple transmission of disease from an animal can happen. If the virus is unknown and no vaccine is available, it could certainly cause a lot of harm to a large population of people. Likewise, another possibility was also presented in 28 Days Later, where the viewers see scientist talking about monkey being infected with a virus.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The overall idea of testing on animals should be considered to be unethical. In terms of medical research purposes, it is necessary to continue making progress in the medical field, especially in terms of infectious diseases. The main ethical concern that receives the most criticism from activists and animal welfare groups is the overall treatment of animals. As seen in the opening sequence of 28 days later, the animal activists were trying to free the monkeys that were held in medical research lab. According to Blakemore, In fact, animal research has contributed to 70 per cent of Nobel prizes for physiology or medicine (Blakemore, 2008). One thing that cannot be denied is the usefulness of animal testing in the medical field. The fact that is has made a substantial contribution in terms of developing medicines that can be used in current times. The medical field seems that is always expanding due to the increasing technology present in current times. However, it still appears that we are not at that particular point in time, where animal testing can be completely phases out of medicine. The main purpose of any medical researcher is to find a cure for genetic disorder or incurable diseases. We need to evaluate all options in the medical field because these could help save a lot of people s lives. • 7. Snow Flower And The Secret Fan Analysis In the novel Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, by Lisa See, the role of women presented by the author incorporates historical context of societal value and conventions, reveals the agonizing subjugation necessary for life, and explores the subtleties of female power in a male centric world. Through characterization, dialogue, and imagery, the meaning behind the story of two friends reveals itself. Set in rural China in the early to mid 1800s, historical context plays a major role in defining the value placed on women by their society. Seen from the beginning, a young girl in a family acts only as a burden on them by being an extra mouth to feed and less valuable than a son. Young women at the time were only given value based on who they married, whether they had sons, and if they followed the conventions set before them. The main character, Lily states that her mother looked at her as a temporary mouth to feed and a body to dress until I went to my husband s home (See 12). By setting the stage of the time period, See defines the role of women as child bearers first, and servants to her husband s family second. Despite protests to that idea in contemporary times, women then understood their roles as being miserable so that their children may one day succeed. Pain and convention controlled a womans everyday life, such as, When a girl, obey your father; when a wife, obey your husband; when a widow, obey your son (See 24). To solve this, the insurer will offer low risk agents less insurance this ensures that high risk types do not have the incentive to choose a contract for low risk customers, as they will want more insurance, because they know they will need to claim more. This ensures that the insurance company maintains non negative profit, as high risk individuals cost more to insure. However, these solutions carry agency costs, because the result is less efficient than if symmetric information was present. I believe that risk neutrality of an insurance company is a sufficient condition for insurance to take place. Insurance companies are risk neutral to maximise expected profits, therefore as the principal, will design contracts to achieve this, as well as making certain that the agent picks the desired effort (i.e to prevent a bad state of the world) for that contract, and to make sure that the agent even picks the contract in the first place. Using Scientific Inquiry Model in High School Biology Rationale In classrooms today, educators are constantly seeking and implementing engaging lessons that will increase student knowledge and skills. The intent of the activities is to help students become independent learners and use process thinking skills. Students seem to learn best by actually directing their own learning and doing, rather than being led from step to step by the teacher. In science, it is especially important that students learn by inquiry and use more of a hands on approach to learning scientific concepts. According to Wilke and Straits (2005), inquiry based learning is where students explore a problem using the processes and tools of the discipline. Philosophy of Teaching In society today, the world continues its expansion in diversity; therefore, teachers must accommodate to fulfill the new developments of education. This diversity includes expanding educational philosophies that truly benefit the future leaders of tomorrow. My personal educational philosophy is one that comes from experiences as well as what I would like to see in my career as a teacher. My belief as to the purpose of education includes many different aspects. The first is that schools should promote students to be more independent, while encouraging one to also interact with society. In my opinion, students are encouraged to be themselves and pursue their own individual interest while still respecting the natural and understood laws of society. Next, a teacher should encourage students to use various thinking methods compared to a simple means of problem solving by direct instruction. Alberts (2008) states, What I mean by teaching science as inquiry is, at a minimum allowing students to conceptualize a problem that was solved by a scientific discovery, and then forcing them to wrestle with possible answers to the problem before they are told the answer. This statement suggests that students are required to think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barbara Martino Hayes English 4 December 5, 2014 Importance of Food Labels A research done in 2003 by the International Food Information Council Foundation indicated that many consumers will refer to food labels when deciding which food item to purchase or consume. ( The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. ) Many consumers say that food labels are hard to observe and read. Food labels objective is mostly to inform consumers about the products characteristics which actually play an important role in purchasing or the decision making process of the food item. The government should be more diligent in monitoring the presence of food labels and the accuracy of their claims given the recent rise of health issues, higher frequency of food allergies, and increasing population of more aware consumers. • 30. Anne Bradstreet In Reference To Her Children Essay In 1678, many of Anne Bradstreet s poems were published for public view. Throughout her poems Bradstreet tends to use symbolism to express her innermost thoughts and feelings. One of these poems is In Reference to Her Children, 23 June, 1659. Three of the most significant symbols in this poem are the representation of her family as a flock of birds, the dangers in the world, and the expression of her feelings toward her children. Anne Bradstreet s representation of her family as a flock of birds symbolizes two different things. First, it symbolizes her connection to God and her desire to please Him. She represents herself and her family as birds because they were also creations of God; however, they are not human, therefore they do not sin. The bird family also symbolizes freedom. As her young grow up and spread their wings, they leave the nest to fly on their own. This represents one of the facts of life; children grow up and leave their parents homes to find their own way to make it in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a human world a fowler s snare might be fallings into the hands of trickery, robbery, or any other type of crime. Caught by net or birdlime might represent being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a hawk inflicted injury might symbolize being wounded or killed by an Indian or criminal. There are sustainable and pragmatic solutions that would address both human needs and protecting the biodiverse ecosystem. • 38. Role Of Homeobox Geness Introduction The expression of homeobox (or HOX) genes is essential for the development of the normal embryo. These genes encode proteins that act as transcription factors called homeoproteins which regulate development of the embryo across the anterior posterior (AP) axis. Homeoproteins are the ultimate regulators of development; however mutations in the homeobox genes specifically HOXC10 are oncogenic (by gain of function mutations) and aid in the proliferation of certain cancer types and developmental disorders. Elucidation of HOXC10, its function in embryonic development at the molecular level, and characteristics shared among the function(s) of its paralogues should allow for better understanding of HOXC10 s role primarily... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In embryonic development spatial patterning along with HOX gene expression indicates the order of paralogues within the cluster according to 3 distinct aspects: (1.) spatial collinearity indicates the position of a HOX gene or cluster of genes from 3 to 5 which induces embryonic development along the AP axis; (2.) temporal collinearity indicates the position of a HOX gene or cluster of genes from 3 to 5 that coordinates HOX gene expression during development; and (3.) posterior prevalence HOX genes that reside closer to 5 areas of the cluster will possess a dominant phenotype compared to those that reside closer to 3 areas of the cluster. The nature of these aspects provides further insight into the complex nature of gene expression, regulation, and the basis of morphogenesis. Given that there are 4 paralogous clusters these actions of collinearity suggest some form of redundancy in HOX gene function (Shah, N paper). The role of HOXC10 in development: Homeodomain containing gene 10 (HOXC10) belongs to the HOXC gene cluster that resides on chromosome 12 (ACAMPORA_HUMAN HOX FAMILY). Expression of the gene leads to the production of a transcription factor that possesses a helix turn helix motif and functions as either a monomer or heterodimer containing a unique three amino acid loop extensions called TALE. TALE functions as a co factor and promotes embryonic development and tumorigenesis. Nonetheless common TALE domains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On this side is Ursula, an extremely quotable quasi feminist who makes a strong case for her side.[1] Ursula sums up the feminist argument by saying, Guys see the idealized sex goddess, how can women compete? First and foremost feminists argue that the idea of a naked woman in a magazine is degrading to that woman in particular and to women as a whole; Playboy and men s magazines in general make women out to be sex objects (Burstyn, 42). Playboy objectifies women, leaving out the human side (Burstyn, 43). Feminists also say that soft pornography leads to hard pornography which can then lead to violent crimes against women. Rick Heibert in his article A hard line against soft porn says that psychologists have found that viewing soft pornography inevitably leads to harder material (par 4). Others would take this a step further and contend that the viewing of violent pornography then leads to an increased likelihood of committing a violent sexual crime (Cramer 202). These articles would present statistical research backing themselves up, more likely than not the Meese Commission will make it in to any feminist critique.
