Happiness In A Christmas Carol
George Sand once said There is only happiness in this life,to love and be loved. . Happiness can
mean anything, it is not only with money it can be with family or friends. Money doesn t buy
happiness because money does not stay with the owner. In the play A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and
Marley, Scrooge would think that his happinesswas with all the money. Scrooge was a grumpy,
mean, and didn t care about anyone. Marley his partners for business was just like him but now he
is paying for it. This are the Cratchits, Mr. Scrooge. They are not highly special. They are happy,
grateful, please with one another, contented with the time and how it passes (Horovitz 289). The
Cratchit family doesn t need money to be happy. They have each other

Argument On Poverty
The topic of poverty is America has been both a huge focus and a sore subject for many. There
are differing opinions on how to handle our growing population of people below the poverty line,
with some saying the solution is the good old pull yourself up by your bootstraps rhetoric to others
saying impoverished people have children and refuse to work just to get bigger checks from their
states. There is another argument, on that renders the bootstrap theory obsolete. A person s choices,
education, and circumstances may each, or in combination, explain why they are impoverished.
This alternative view proposes that the context of povertyalone, whether born into it or not,
creates a psychological trap. The argument states that if you are poor, you are always trying to
juggle time and money (Poverty and Inequality, 2014). Financial strain can lead to a mental
tightrope. Constantly having the instability that comes with no steady stream of income, as well
as the worries of bills and how to care for yourself and possibly your family can lead to a never
ending cycle of never enough time and never enough money. Homelessness is also on the rise, and
with many states responses being laws against sitting for long periods of time and aggressive
panhandling. In addition to homelessness, socioeconomic status is a major social determinant of
health with poorer health outcomes for those of low socioeconomic status (Poverty and Inequality,
2014). The community where people live is

The Most Important Aspects Of Film Production In The Film...
Film Production
Movie making is telling a story with the best technology at your disposal. Tom Hanks. Film
production is one of the most important aspects of film, and the industry is one of the fastest
growing and largest grossing industries in the world. There are many different characteristics of film
production. Since the 1800 s, this business has been prevalent. Playing one of the most important
roles in the film industry. Film production has improved tremendously since its birth to its present
state. Film production has many different aspects and they all make up one of the most powerful
industries in the world.
The 1800 s were a time when the art of special effects was revolutionized. At first, they would use
motion toys to trick the eye into seeing things that were not really there. By 1905, there were the
first five cent movie theaters, or nickelodeons, that offered an inexpensive way for the public to
watch movies. These theaters caused the appeal of movies to skyrocket. The 1930 s era of film
was considered the golden age in which sound was first introduced to film. During the 1950 s, the
film industry took a huge turn with the invention of the television bringing home entertainment to
ten million people. After being in a gigantic drought because of the Vietnam War, the 1970 s
brought a resurgence of film to the United States. With the production of Jaws and Star Wars, the
industry exploded with new fans flocking in from all over the world ( History of Hollywood ).
During the 1980 s, the film industry was thought of as simple and quick entertainment. The 80s
brought films such as Batman, The Return of the Jedi, and Terminator ( History of Hollywood
). The revolutionary special effects used in these films caused a drastic increase in the normal
budget for major films off that era. With the decline of the economy in the 90s box office
revenues plummeted. The invention of CD ROMs created a new way for people to enjoy films
from home. Even though VCRs were still very popular, but DVDs soon surpassed them and
became the most popular way of viewing film by 1997 ( History of Hollywood ).
The main reason film production has improved is because of technology. Technology has shaped

NASA ( GRC ) Collaborative Modeling For Parametric...
In order to meet the 2029 deadline and reduce costs, this design will use primarily synergistic
applications of NASA s planned current investments. Additional propulsion stages may be required
to decrease the time to Mars as to keep mission costs low and to make the crew not have too much
exposure to radiation. Similarly, advanced physics and thermodynamics are unknown in the time of
writing this and could potentially allow design flaws from the future design proposal.
To remain conservative, Glenn Research Center (GRC) Collaborative Modeling for Parametric
Assessment of Space Systems (COMPASS) had chosen the first of two designs as it was the wider
and heavier choice of the two options12. This design similarly will continue to be assumed ... Show

It was previously stated that solar electric propulsion provides such high fuel economy that it
reduces the amount of propellant required onboard vehicles for deep space missions by as much as
90 percent 18. With this statement, alternate ions and configurations have been extensively
researched and compared to find the best alternative solution.
One alternative possibility that could be strong considered is Pulsed Lorentz Force Acceleration
(PLFA). As a part of this propulsion there is a Lithium Lorentz Force Accelerator (LiLFA)
Thruster, which has been proven by research with a power of 500kW to generate a specific
impulse (I_sp) of 4000 and an efficiency of 60%18, 19. These characteristics were recorded and
demonstrated by V. P. Ageyev, V. G. Ostrovsky, and V. A. Petrosov with the LiLFA engine
operating in this mode uninterruptedly about 500 hours 20 in Russia in 1993. NASA has concurred
similar characteristics of Pulsed Lorentz Force Acceleration (PLFA) propulsion system which is
described to combine design elements of the Lithium Lorentz Force Accelerator 21 in addition to
quasi steady Magnetoplasmadynamic thrusters and pulsed plasma thrusters. In the same article,
the PLFA is described to achieve a specific impulse of 4800, an efficiency of 60%, max power of

The Theory Of Foreign Policy Changes
In Painful Choices, David Welch is entirely focused on developing a theory of when and why
foreign policy changes. Welch is also interested in a way to forecast these changes. His assembled
theory, which I will evaluate in greater depth, is termed the Loss Aversion Theory of Foreign Policy
Change . This Theory entails three hypotheses on the conditions under which we can expect and,
more importantly, predict changes in foreign policy. Although Welch remains humble regarding
his Theory s drawbacks and predictive capabilities, there are some potentially problematic
assumptions at the foundation of Loss Aversion Theory. I will discuss why Welch s Theory is
primarily useful solely at the Individual Level. Finally, I intend to discuss why the Theory is not a
comprehensive theory of foreign policyand why the assumptions required for the Theory to hold
limit the cases that can be explained by it. After finding numerous theoretical and practical
difficulties in the attempts thus far to draft of a theory of state behavior, Welch proposes that [a]
possible way out of [these difficulties] is to seek to base predictions not on explanations of why
states behave the way they do in general... but on explanations of why they deviate from their
prior behavior. Looking only at the changes in state behavior is a radical approach; it is a
perspective from which what [states] do in general is irrelevant. 2 Temporarily ignoring state goals,
Welch turns his attention to how states

Symbolism In Beowulf
Can Beowulf be a representation of Christ for the Anglo Saxon era people? Many have
speculated or at least pondered on his actions to be Christ like. When it comes down to it there
are people who claim Beowulf to be Christ like and there are people who say Beowulf is not
Christ like but just pagan folklore or an epic past down from generation to generation. In this
article you will hear reasons as to why he is considered Christ like through his own actions and
free will, you will see this through symbolism, portrayal of Christ, an example of knowing that
they will die, and finally knowing that they will be betrayed by their own followers . So if you
carefully read through this argument of the epic as to why Beowulfis like that, then you can at least
see a glimpse or fully pick up on his Christ like abilities by personality, actions, and patterns....

What was said earlier was that Beowulf was compassionate about his fellow man, he was kindly,
mild, gentle amongst man, and forgiving to his fellow man too. He was like this because he knew
man itself cannot thrive on it s own hate or prejudices but could thrive on life and learning. He
sought out the good in people to motivate them as Jesus Christ did. Beowulf did all of these good
deeds because he did it for the good of man and because he loathed the powers of evil that tempted
man. He did all this for the good of man and because he cared of his people too, in the end of the
epic Beowulf was proven to fight hard and save the treasure for his people so they could thrive
for many years. One other thing Beowulf did to prove this Christ like sense was that he always
thanked god, one example of this is, By favor of God we won the fight, did the deed of valor, and
boldly dared the might of the monster, (Pg. 19) In just that line not only did he thank God but he
was preaching to his men as well like Jesus

An Overview of Capital Punishment Essay
An Overview of Capital Punishment
Introduction
Capital punishment is punishment by death for committing a crime. Since
the early 1800 s most executions have resulted from convictions for murder. The
death penalty has also been imposed for such serious crimes as armed robbery,
kidnapping, rape, and treason. There is much disagreement about
whether or not capital punishment is effective in discouraging crime.
In the early 1990 s, 36 states of the United States had laws that permitted
the death penalty. These laws were greatly influenced by a 1972 decision of the
Supreme Court of the United States which had banned the death penalty as it was
then imposed, describing the carrying out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the more vicious methods were stoning, impaling,
boiling in oil, burned alive, and being stretched on the rack.
One of the most notorious ways of executions was being beheaded by a
guillotine. This machine, invented by Joseph Ignace Guillotin (1738 1814),
became the official instrument of execution in France during the French
Revolution. It dropped a huge knife that cut off the victim s head. It was
regarded as quick and merciful. The guillotine was used until 1981, when
capital punishment was abolished in France.
The death penalty was a popular method of punishment in England.
Imprisonment was hardly ever used. In the 15th century there were eight capital
crimes: treason , petty treason, murder, larceny, robbery, burglary, rape, and
arson. Other crimes were soon added to the list, so that by the year 1780 there
were 350.
Executions were common enough to require gallows in every district of
London. Bodies were sometimes left hanging as a warning to other would be
criminals. If the hangman were so inclined, he might give the convicted brandy
to dull his senses or pull on his legs so he would die quicker.
It was estimated that between the years 1805 and 1810, 3,000 death
sentences were handed out. At this time, however, the laws were not strictly
enforced. A large number of criminals were never executed because of royal
pardon or the benefit of

Internet Privacy And The Internet
Imagine a world without major programs like Facebook or Microsoft office, how would we get
our candy crush reminders, or write a five page essays for an English final. Major programs like
the ones I ve stated may not have been possible without hackers. Hackers are people who gain
access to unauthorized information using a computer. I know, it sounds bad that people are gaining
unauthorized information by computer, but they actually make the interneta safer place. With the
growth of the internet comes the growth of hackers and internet privacy. New laws that would
increase internet privacy and, limit hackers would halt the internets growth and development.
Since the year 2000, the internet has grown enormously we can all agree and with this growth
comes a growth of internet users. With all the internet users, online comes people trying to
accuse their information by illegal means. People are uncomfortable with the fact that people are
gaining access to their information and tracking their web usage. When conducting an interview
with Ms. Rebecca LaFave the Reference Librarian I asked her the question Do you believe it ok
if the hackers/businesses track your movement across the web ? and she replied with No. I find it
extremely intrusive, at best. At worse it s an invasion of the 14th Amendment (Lafave). People feel
as if hackers are taking advantage of them by using their information but some hackers may be
helping online users. With everything, this is a good and a

A Social Class System
There is no way to deny that a social class system exists that divides people by general popularity.
Once children begin school, they begin to separate into these divisions. The top of the social
ladder, often considered to be people who are cool, are stereotyped to be beautiful and happy.
Although in some cases this may be true, it is not always that way. Misconceptions about
popularity lead to a greater divide amongst the social classes, and cause those in the lower social
levels to be considered as or to feel as if they are inferior. Articles like one written by Christian
McBride, entitled Be Cool, published in This I Believe II, continue to develop the false
ideology that one must be popular in order to live a full, happy life. McBride believes that, Being
cool is not what you say or do, but how you say or do it, (McBride 160) and due to the fact that,
... I sleep well at night, and work with people who apparently like to work with me, (McBride,
158) he is cool himself. A musician by trade, McBride works in a unique environment compared to
the large majority of American citizens. According to Business Insider, as of April 2014, musician
is not even one of the top ten most common jobs in the United States; with the top three most
common including retail salespersons, cashiers, and food preparation and serving workers,

Pacific Ocean Waste Management
In the Pacific Ocean, there is an island made completely out of garbage. It is so big that it is
called the Great Pacific Ocean Patch. Scientists even found that nine percent of the island is made
up of dead fish. The patch weighs about seven million tons, which means that there are 630,000
tons of fishon that one island of garbage. Scientists also say that the patch could possibly double
within the next ten years. The patch is estimated to be the size of Texas to twice the size of the
continental United States (Moore). This issue needs to be resolved quickly and efficiently. One
way to resolve it is to improve the level of wastemanagement used across the world. Waste
management is a solution to all kinds of pollution. The level of waste management in the United
States and around the world is unacceptably low. Many people think that waste management is
just a garbage and recycling company. Although, Waste management is the handling of discarded
materials, also known as waste or garbage ( Waste Management ). Waste management is not just
a company, it is a global crisis. Waste management is a process leading to less pollution in the
oceans and many other places. It can be the igniter for people in the world to go green and
preserve the environment and the animals in it. The Barents and Greenland Seas are north of the
United States and Europe. These seas are hotspots for plastic pileups. Plastic has been gathering in

Physical education (often abbreviated Phys. Ed. or P.E.) or gymnastics(gym or gym class) is a
course taken during primary and secondary educationthat encourages psychomotor learning in a
play or movement exploration setting. Physical education trends have developed recently to
incorporate a greater variety of activities. Introducing students to activities like bowling, walking
/hiking, or Frisbee at an early age can help students develop good activity habits that will carry over
into adulthood. Some teachers have even begun to incorporate stress reduction techniques such as
yoga and deep breathing. Teaching non traditional sports to students may also provide the necessary

It is, however, important to note that many school budgets have seen cutbacks and in some
cases physical education programs have been cut. Technology use in physical education New
technology in Physical education is playing a big role in classes. One of the most affordable and
effective would be a simple tape recorder. With the use of a tape recorder students can see the
mistakes they re making in things such as a throwing motion or swinging form[4]. Studies show
that students do find this more effective than having someone just telling them what they are
doing wrong and trying to correct it. Educators also found the use of other technologies such as
pedometers and heart rate monitors very successful, using them to make step and heart rate
goals for students. Other technologies that can be used in a Physical Education setting would
include projectors, GPS and even gaming systems such as Kinect for XBOX360, Wii Fit and
Dance Dance Revolution. Projectors can be used to show students things such as proper form or
how to play certain games. GPS systems can be used to get students active in an outdoor setting
and active exergames can be used by teachers to show students a good way to stay fit in and out of
the classroom setting[7] Another type of technology that is commonly used in Physical Education
is the use of pedometers. Pedemeters do not necessarily track how far a person is going, but it lets
them know the number of steps they are making. It

Three diagnostic procedures for conditions of the eye
1.Corneal transplant is a surgical procedure where some part of the patient s cornea (layer that
covers the coloring part of the eye) will be removed and replaced with a donor. This type of
procedure is used if the cornea been damaged either from injury or infections. The patient will be
under a local anesthesia (numbness of the eye) and medication to help the patient to relax. The
surgeon will be using a special instrument to remove the damaged cornea and replaces it with the
new cornea. The surgeon will use a special thread to connect the new cornea. After the surgery is
completed the patient will be taking medication to help control pain and to prevent infection.

how societyputs forth expectations of what is natural or biological even though, in some cases, it

Fallingwater was built in a Nature Reserve, which provides a basic pure natural environment.
Rather than have the waterfall in occupant s view, the designer of the house, Wright, placed the
house right on the top of the waterfall to make it a part of occupant s lives. The integration of the
house with waterfall is successful in creating harmony between nature and man. Fallingwater
redefined the relationship between man, nature, and architecture (Adelyn,2010).
We and feel the harmony with nature from many aspects. The breaking water could be heard
constantly throughout the entire house. Clear glass is used to connect the house with nature. As
Brooke Malfatte described Inside the Fallingwater, turning around in a full circle and all the birds,
trees and animals outside could be seen (Malfatto, 2005). The designer even bent a trellis so that a

The Fallingwater was celebrated around the world almost from the day of its completion. The
fame of the house has only increased over the years. According to Adelyn perez, There is no
question that Fallingwater is a work of genius (Adelyn, 2010). According to official statistics (from

John Stuart Mill s Argument
If we were to live in a society where John Stuart Mill s harm principle was the only normative
basis for law, we would live in a society in which racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression
could never be dealt away with, a society in which no business owner could be judicially
discouraged from putting up a sign that says, WHITES ONLY, or NO JEWS, outside of his or her
business, and as a result, a society that would be constantly teetering from one outbreak of
genocidal violence to another. Perhaps this might seem like an over dramatization, but the fact of
the matter is, if the only purpose for which power [could] be rightfully exercised over any member
of a civilized community...[were] to prevent harm to others, than by anyone s count,... Show more

Yet, it is important to realize the colossal differences that exist between hate speech and political
protest, or any other societal critique. Hate speech differs from all other discourse in that it can
never lead to anything productive for society, and the value of counter discourse can be judge as
minimal. The characteristics that are under attack in hate speech are immutable and innate to an
individual, and there is nothing that can, or should be, done to change them. Consequently, it is
very well possible to distinguish between hate speech and any other forms of speech. Of course,
the slippery slope argument can always be applied by fear mongers, who ask, Where will the
line be drawn? If we stop allowing the KKK to disseminate racist propaganda, then how can we
continue to be a democratic country? Nonetheless, if the slippery slope argument is indeed being
invoked, then it is even becomes easier to see how racist speech can lead to genocidal violence,
and then the calculation that must be made is the tradeoff between the stifling of democracy and a
major loss of life. Definitely, on the other hand, there will be individuals who say that this revision
to the harm principle does not go far enough, and that there is no clear answer to whether or not

and handed it to the boy. What about a spoon? He s not getting a spoon. (McCarthy 163). I
believe the only reason the man gave in so easily in this situation was because they had been very
fortunate in their findings, I sense that the man feared that if he was not at least a tad bit generous,
that bad karma might just shadow him. After the stranger on the road had finished eating the can of

Heart Of Darkness Kurtz As A Hero Essay
Heart Of Darkness is a masterpiece written by Joseph Conrad. Joseph Campbell said A hero is
someone who as given his or her life to something bigger than oneself . It is very clear that both
Marlow and Kurtz the two main characters in the story are thought of as heroes. Everyone has a
different idea on who the hero might be and whom he or she thinks it should be. Given there are
many different definitions for hero and you can look at each character differently. I feel like it is
hard to choose a hero because they both have so many flaws. Your first thought while reading the
book would be that Marlow is the hero since he is the narrator for 95% of the book, but if you
think deeper and think as the characters in Heart of Darknessyou would see Kurtz as being the
hero. The main thing about being a hero is that all the readers and characters should know who
it is and it should be very obvious by the end of the book. After reading and thinking of the book,
I have come to the conclusion that neither of them are heroes throughout the book but at the end
of the book we realize that Marlow is a hero after all. Marlow is one of the first characters we
meet in the book. He is a sailor who is being sent of to the Congo to sail a steamboat but
throughout his journey finds many obstacles. In most stories for example Hamlet by William
Shakespeare, the main character is the hero. Not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Lady And The Tramp By Gwendolyn Mink Analysis
In this paper, I will explain how the article The Lady and the Tramp (II): Feminist Welfare
Politics, Poor Single Mothers, and the Challenge of Welfare Justice by Gwendolyn Mink relates
to the thematic focus of working women and the Marxist and socialist branch of feminism. In
Feminist Thought: A More Comprehensive Introduction, Rosemarie Tong explains that Marxist
and socialist feminists understand women s oppression as a labor issue. Women s work is not
viewed as a productive contribution to society. One of the ways Marxist and socialist feminists
sought to improve women s oppression was through the wages for housework campaign of the
1970s, which fought for work done in the domestic sphere to be paid and respected by society.
In this same vein, Mink s article can be viewed as a continuation of sorts of the wages for
housework campaign. Mink suggests that poor single mothers have the right for their work to be
recognized by society and supported economically like the Marxist and socialist feminist in the
1970s. According to Marxists, women are oppressed because they are not viewed as a class of
workers, which is highly valued in a Marxist society. It is important to note that Marxists reject the
conception of human nature, claiming that our ability to produce our means of subsistence is what
makes humans different from animals that are governed by instinct (Tong 94). Therefore, humans
are what we are because of the productive activities we engage in to meet our needs.

individuals in general. Police face obstacles daily during and after work. The news media is part
of the issue police face. Example: officer shot an unarmed suspect for no reason. The police
should have talked to the person before he killed him. The news report half of the stories that are
not true, but the news personnel never apologize. Democracy is people s sovereignty. (Szelely, C.
2016). In the public eyes, the first impression is to prejudge the officer. The most important rule of
the day for officers is to save someone life and return home to your family. The policeand the public

Discrimination, Discrimination And Discrimination Essay
Unfortunately, discrimination has been occurring in America for hundreds of years. Evidence
proves this when the European settlers began colonizing America and making the Native American
people their slaves. It didn t stop there, discrimination and racism was even more apparent when
the Jim Crow Laws were passed. The Jim Crow Laws enforced segregation between the whites and
the African Americans. For years, the unlucky Americans of all races, colors, and sexual orientation
have endured discriminationat some point in their lives. One major issue that many Americans
endure is discrimination in the work place. Throughout the years, learning how to avoid
discrimination has become a priority.
Police chief Crystal Moore of Latta, South Carolina had to experience her own battle with
discrimination. Chief Moore has been the Police Chief of Latta County for 23 years when she
was fired for reasons believing related to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender or LGBT
lifestyle. Chief Moore is an openly Lesbian Police Chief who has not encountered any issues
prior to being fired by Mayor Earl Bullard. Mayor Bullard had become Mayor this year, in 2016.
When Mayor Bullard was questioned about the termination of police chief Moore, he claimed it
was due to the seven reprimands of questionable behavior, difficulty with maintaining order and
other reasons that were not disclosed. Chief Moore claimed none of those reprimands were true,
and she had done nothing wrong or unethical. Chief

Pediatric nurses get to care for the littlest patients in the hospital patients who may be happy to
see them. Besides, getting to care for appreciative patients, pediatric nurses enjoy to some degree

Lord of the Flies Rough Draft What would happen if a group of British school boys were
dropped on a deserted island where they have to choose ultimately faced choosingbetween good
and evil? In Lord of the Flies, which was written by William Golding, the that exact situation
happened. However, the good and evil would be the choice of being civil or savage. All the boys
had a sense of civility when they came from England, but with the help of the character Jack, their
civilities get forgotten. In the Lord of the Flies, the thirst for power is shown through Jack who
corrupts the boys to savagery. The result of the boys cruel actions lead to the deaths of Simon and

How Did The Second Vatican Council Change
The Second Vatican Council (1962 1965) as stated by Hobson and Welbourne (2002) is seen as a
catalyst for major change in the discourse of religious education . Religious educators have found it
necessary to change not only what they teach, but more importantly, how they teach it to make
accommodation for changes to both culture and tradition. These changes include the impact of
early Catholic schools and the shift from lay to religious teachers, as well as the evolution of
secular theories from historical approaches through to contemporary approaches that were
influenced by Church documents and the faith experiences of students and teachers.
To appreciate the state of Australian Catholic schools since Vatican II, it is important to understand

Vatican II understood that if the Church was to move forward and keep pace with changes to
society, it would need to provide opportunities where Christian faith made adjustments for future
diversities (Hobson and Welbourne, 2002). The Second Vatican Councilwould provide the turning
point for Catholic education in both what was taught and how it was taught (Hobson and
Welbourne, 2002). This came in the form of a new approach to religious instruction. The life
centred approach focused on students and teachers sharing and reflecting on life experiences and
building on their understanding of faith together (Engebretson, as cited in Buchanan, 2005). During
this time Catholic schools were experiencing change: increases in immigration resulted in a wide
diversity of students from different cultures and faiths and students were no longer attending Mass
with their families (Ryan, as cited in Buchanan, 2005). This led to many students attending Catholic
schools who were not connected to their faith or the life of the parish, which made it difficult for
the life centred approach to remain effective as students were unable to link life experience with
faith (Buchanan, 2005). Although the life centred approach was seen as unsuccessful, the idea of
students learning about their faith through life experience continued to evolve

Power In Fahrenheit 451
Society s Tools to Control Us
How society controls individuals is seen in everyday life in most places that any person may
visit on an average day. The book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, written in 1953, is set in in
the future. The book s concept is about how books were banned and it explained how life was
changed without books. It has many fictional examples of how society controls individuals in real
life even today. However, they might be seen as slightly exaggerated. There are many
documentaries and articles that explain and warn of the power society can have over an individual,
and how the people must guard themselves against it. Society controlling individuals is shown
Fahrenheit 451 and the modern world through media, peer pressure, and ignorance about society s
power.
The media controlling individuals through society is not a new subject. Advertisements, shows,
and news all influencing what each individual thinks about the world and in turn allowing power
over the people engaged with it. So what is power? How exactly does it affect me? Well,
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace explains it as Power is the ability of one party [or an
individual] to make another party do, or stop doing, something. (NaГm, MoisГ©s. Why Power Is
Decaying in the Modern World ). Simply put this can also be explained as power being in control
over another thing. This is shown in Fahrenheit 451 in Mildred s (,the main character s wife,) and

Shale And The Shale Gas Boom
Fracturing Shale
Marcellus Shale, also known, as the Marcellus Formation, is black, organically rich, shale that
exists underneath the surface of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Kentucky,
Maryland, Tennessee, and Virginia. The shale is located roughly one mile below the surface of
these states and has an estimated 141 trillion cubic feet of attainable natural gas. As of 2015,
Marcellus shale gas wells were reportedly yielding 14.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day (
Marcellus Shale Appalachian Basin Natural Gas Play ). This shale discovery is known as one of
the largest natural gas reserves in the United States, and this underground gas is now reachable
thanks to hydraulic fracturing and horizontally drilling. These two techniques, when used in
combination, have enabled gas producers to extract shale gas both rapidly and economically ( The
Marcellus Shale Gas Boom ). Although, there are many myths and disagreements with the way
America gets this natural gas, it has proven to have more advantages than disadvantages.
Marcellus Shale is an excellent resource because natural gas is a clean energy source. When
natural gas is burned, it emits only half the amount of CO2 ( E Forum: Pros and Cons ). Natural
gas tends to be much cleaner than crude oil, generally making the environment better. The less
carbon dioxide in the air, the slower Earth will become warmed and certain regions won t become

A Raisin In The Sun Assimilation Essay
Assimilation or the refusal to assimilate was and has been present throughout the United States
and examples of such can be seen in plays like, Los Vendidos and A Raisin In The Sun .
Assimilation is defined by dictionary.com as: the process of adapting or adjusting to the culture
of a group or nation. Lorraine Hansberry was against assimilation and instead wanted to introduce
integration, being a part of the routines and traditions, but maintaining heritage, by writing A
Raisin in the Sun , she wanted to show her stance for the African Americans to take pride in their
heritage and to not assimilate to all the views of white Americans. Los Vendidos tries to portray a
similar theme by using satirical humor and symbolism. Every country faces the issue of
assimilating new people into new places, but many think only immigrants have this issue.
However, many who have already migrated into society are deeply rooted in their heritage have
the same issue because they want to hold on to the traditions that give respect to their ancestors.
The line between assimilation and integration is and was a huge debate especially during the time

To A Locomotive In Winter
Although both Walt Whitman as well as Emily Dickinson write about trains in the poems To a
Locomotive in Winter and I like to See it Lap the Miles, they both make different uses of tone in
their poems. The tones both authors use with the subject are slightly similar, but are also polar
opposites in other ways. For example, both Whitman and Dickinson use a tone that is in awe of
the power that locomotives possess. Even though they use a similar tone for the power of
locomotives, there are some differences with the tone each author uses; Whitman s work has a
sophisticated yet serious tone. Whereas, Dickinson s poem has a more playful tone. There are
many examples of Whitman s awe of locomotives in To a Locomotive in Winter. For example,

In Whitman s To a Locomotive in Winter , the first line is, Thee for my recitative, / (Gioia 724).
His use of the word recitative implies a serious if not tragic tone. Yet at the same time, recitative
also has a feeling of sophistication and grace. According to the OxfordDictionary.com recitative
is defined as, Musical declamation of the kind usual in the narrative and dialogue parts of opera
and oratorio, sung in the rhythm of ordinary speech with many words on the same note: singing
in recitative. Therefore, since most operas have a serious if not tragic tone, Whitman is letting
the reader know from the first line that the poem will have a serious tone. Now compare that to
the first line in Dickinson s poem, I like to see it lap the Miles / (Gioia 724). Her use of the
phrase, I like to see it lap , gives the impression of a more fun or playful tone. These differences
in tone can be seen again, when comparing line nine of To a Locomotive in Winter with line two
of I like to see it lap the Miles . In line nine Whitman writes, Thy dese and murky clouds out
belching from thy smoke stack, / (Gioia 724). This line is very serious and dark. Yet, line two of

Euthanasia And Physician Assisted Suicide
In the Oxford English Dictionary, euthanasia is defined as the means of bringing a gentle and
easy death ( euthanasia def. 2). Today, euthanasia is a method used in the medical field to put an
end to a patient s agony by taking their life for them, making it a very controversial topic. Many
people argue that it is morally wrong to take a humanlife, and others may argue that it is even
more wrong to make someone suffer more than they need to. I will argue that euthanasia and
physician assisted suicide is in fact morally permissible. Euthanasia can be classified as active or
passive. In active euthanasia, an individual purposely takes the life of the person suffering, whereas
in passive euthanasia, the person who is in pain is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you look at it this way, it is decreasing the amount of suffering and actually increasing
happiness. This is because by letting the person decide whether or not their life ends, you are
maintaining justice. If you do not let a person decide their own fate, it denies their rights and
their freedom. It will only increase the amount of suffering of not only the patient but everyone
involved if you do not grant the patient his wish to end his life because then he or she will only
die more slowly and more painfully. If a patient decides to go through with euthanasia and is able
to find a doctor who has moral rights that are not against the act, then it will only relieve the
patient of time that he or she would have wasted in pain. The only type of suffering that will occur
is how those involved will feel after the patient has died, but death is inevitable the patient is
already on the verge of dying and euthanasia will only shorten this process. Another reason why I
believe that euthanasia is morally permissible is because being alive and living are two
completely different things. Just because you are able to breathe does not mean that you are
really able to live. What is the point of continuing your life if you are unhappy and are constantly
having to suffer? The ability to be able to control your body and take charge of your own affairs

patient is shown to have evidence of COPD (Mayo Clinic, 2015). Common treatments and
modifications to treat COPD is to reduce smoking by going to smoking sensation classes if the
patient is a smoker, bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, combination inhalers, oral steroids,
antibiotics, theophylline and phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor. Other treatments are lung treatments

Phoenix Jackson In Eudora Welty s A Worn Path
By using a narrator that is outside the story, Eudora Welty shows us how powerful and
motivational true love can be (theme) through the character Phoenix Jackson in A Worn Path .
Although Pheonix faces many challenges in an attempt to get the medication for her grandson,
she never gives up, and eventually prevails, but there are certain traits she holds that give her the
ability to accomplish her end goal of retrieving the medication. In the first paragraph of the story
Phoenix is described as very old and small, (Page 1, line 3) and Negro. (Page 1, line 2) These
traits are not the most ideal traits to hold, as they come with challenges. With her age factoring in,
she will specifically face physical challenges and sensory challenges.

Joe Shlobotnik Washington Bugler Analysis
Anonymity Vs. The Law A reporter of the Washington Bugler, Joe Shlobotnik, wrote a story last
year accusing the local director of the United Way, Dr. Harvey Serene, of embezzling more than
$400,000 in funds that were donated to the organization by members of the public. The story
initiated after a call was made from Serene s administrative assistant, and part time lover, Rose
Mary Woods. Woods agreed to communicate with Shlobotnik on given terms that her name was to
be kept anonymous. Shlobotnik agreed on these terms, and promised that her name would remain
unidentified. Disregarding the promise, Shlobotnik went ahead and informed the managing editor
of Woods identity, following his newspaper s policy. Woods provided Shlobotnik with 117

The subpoena that was ordered to Shlobotnik to disclose of any records in his possession that
were relatable to the case, can be argued with the fact that it intrudes on the editorial process,
therefore violating the First Amendment the right the speak without fear of state interference
(RCFP). People that are involved in the case, see a subpoena as an easy and cheap way to get
information that s relatable to the case. Another case that results in a subpoena being quashed
includes the Sykes v. Bayor case. A subpoena was issued to blog owner Kathleen Seidel, who
writes about autism issues. In one of her posts, she wrote about the link exposure to mercury to the
plaintiff s son s autism. Their attorney served Seidel with a subpoena, and in return, she provided
the judge with a collection of information that was so well argued that she managed to quash the

James Earl Ray Court Case
Catastrophically, the assassination of Doctor Martin Luther King was devastating. The
prosecution built their theory that James Earl Ray was a racist. Luckily, James Earl Ray pled
guilty to the murder, so there would be no trial. On April 4, 1968, Doctor King was fatally
wounded by a single shot in Memphis, Tennessee while standing on the balcony of his second
story hotel. Subsequently, that evening a Remington .30 06 hunting rifle was found one block
away from the Lorraine Motel. Over the next several weeks the prosecution was building their
case, which consisted of the rifle, eyewitness reports, and fingerprints on the rifle all pointed to a
single assailant, James Earl Ray. Furthermore, James Earl Ray was an escaped convict that was on

Evaluate The Divine Command Theory
Through this paper, I will provide an argument that works to disprove the divine command theory. I
believe the divine command theory is false because the Euthyphro argument shows that God either
has reasons for his commands or he doesn t, either of which highlight flaws in the divine command
theory.
Before I can argue against the divine command theory, it is important to first understand the belief.
According to Russ Shafer Landau in his book, The Fundamentals of Ethics, the divine command
theory states that an action is right simply because God says so, and an action is wrong simply
because God says so (Shafer Landau). For example, rape is wrong only because God said it was
wrong, and being kind to people is good only because God said it was good. Many religious
people are proponents of the divine command theory, even though few religions today actually
support the view ( Divine ). Although the divine command theory and the ideal observer theory are
often thought to be interchangeable, they are different in many important ways. The ideal observer
theory states that an action is morally right or wrong if a morally perfect and unbiased person
would judge that action to be morally right or wrong (Brandt). One example of an ideal observer
theory is the divine judgement theory. The divine judgement theory states that an action is morally
right or wrong only if God would judge that action to be morally right or wrong (Robbins).
Although both the divine judgement theory and divine

A1. Concerns
There are many concerns with the budget planning for Competition Bike. From year 2006 to
2008, Competition Bike experienced a 13.3% increase in sales. In year 9, sales are projected to
increase to 3510 units to give sales revenue of $5,247,450. This is a bold increase after 3400 units
sold in 2008 and 4000 sold in 2007. I do not think the sales will be as robust with the economy
rebounding. Sales projections should be 3425 with net sales at $5,120,375.
Since the Competition Bike Company projected overly optimistic sales, there are several areas in
the budget that will be affected. The areas affected are Sales Commission, Transportation Out,
Advertising, Research and Development, Raw Materials, and Labor. ... Show more content on

This was favorable, but the Efficiency Variable was 100,000 unfavorable. This suggest that
Competition Bike received a great price, but with the unfavorable Efficiency there were a lot of left
over materials suggesting the material might not be the best quality. Direct Labor had a 150,000
Unfavorable Variance, but had a 50,000 favorable Efficiency Variance. The labor costwas up due to
the high skill level needed for the bike manufacturing. The 50,000 favorable Efficiency Variance
enabled the high skill labor to perform the task very efficiently. The Manufacturing Overhead had
a 24,000 unfavorable Price Variance, and a 2426 unfavorable Efficiency Variance. The
Advertising Cost had a 5,000 unfavorable Price Variance and a 1246 favorable Efficiency
Variance. This suggest that Competition Bike spent more on Advertising in order to boost lagging
sales, and the favorable Efficiency Variance shows that even though more was spent than budgeted,
the money spent was efficient and worth the increase. The Transportation Out had a 3207
unfavorable Price Variance and a 2400 unfavorable Efficiency Variance. This suggest that
Transportation cost were up due to increased fuel cost, and this increase in cost resulted in
unfavorable Efficiency Variance due to transporting fewer bikes with increase in fuel cost.
Unfavorable Variances The unfavorable variances were Net Sales, Direct Labor, Advertising Cost,
and Transportation out. The

  • 3. Argument On Poverty The topic of poverty is America has been both a huge focus and a sore subject for many. There are differing opinions on how to handle our growing population of people below the poverty line, with some saying the solution is the good old pull yourself up by your bootstraps rhetoric to others saying impoverished people have children and refuse to work just to get bigger checks from their states. There is another argument, on that renders the bootstrap theory obsolete. A person s choices, education, and circumstances may each, or in combination, explain why they are impoverished. This alternative view proposes that the context of povertyalone, whether born into it or not, creates a psychological trap. The argument states that if you are poor, you are always trying to juggle time and money (Poverty and Inequality, 2014). Financial strain can lead to a mental tightrope. Constantly having the instability that comes with no steady stream of income, as well as the worries of bills and how to care for yourself and possibly your family can lead to a never ending cycle of never enough time and never enough money. Homelessness is also on the rise, and with many states responses being laws against sitting for long periods of time and aggressive panhandling. In addition to homelessness, socioeconomic status is a major social determinant of health with poorer health outcomes for those of low socioeconomic status (Poverty and Inequality, 2014). Film production is one of the most important aspects of film, and the industry is one of the fastest growing and largest grossing industries in the world. There are many different characteristics of film production. Since the 1800 s, this business has been prevalent. Playing one of the most important roles in the film industry. Film production has improved tremendously since its birth to its present state. Film production has many different aspects and they all make up one of the most powerful industries in the world. The 1800 s were a time when the art of special effects was revolutionized. At first, they would use motion toys to trick the eye into seeing things that were not really there. By 1905, there were the first five cent movie theaters, or nickelodeons, that offered an inexpensive way for the public to watch movies. These theaters caused the appeal of movies to skyrocket. The 1930 s era of film was considered the golden age in which sound was first introduced to film. During the 1950 s, the film industry took a huge turn with the invention of the television bringing home entertainment to ten million people. After being in a gigantic drought because of the Vietnam War, the 1970 s brought a resurgence of film to the United States. With the production of Jaws and Star Wars, the industry exploded with new fans flocking in from all over the world ( History of Hollywood ). During the 1980 s, the film industry was thought of as simple and quick entertainment. The 80s brought films such as Batman, The Return of the Jedi, and Terminator ( History of Hollywood ). The revolutionary special effects used in these films caused a drastic increase in the normal budget for major films off that era. With the decline of the economy in the 90s box office revenues plummeted. The invention of CD ROMs created a new way for people to enjoy films from home. Even though VCRs were still very popular, but DVDs soon surpassed them and became the most popular way of viewing film by 1997 ( History of Hollywood ). • 6. The Theory Of Foreign Policy Changes In Painful Choices, David Welch is entirely focused on developing a theory of when and why foreign policy changes. Welch is also interested in a way to forecast these changes. His assembled theory, which I will evaluate in greater depth, is termed the Loss Aversion Theory of Foreign Policy Change . This Theory entails three hypotheses on the conditions under which we can expect and, more importantly, predict changes in foreign policy. Although Welch remains humble regarding his Theory s drawbacks and predictive capabilities, there are some potentially problematic assumptions at the foundation of Loss Aversion Theory. I will discuss why Welch s Theory is primarily useful solely at the Individual Level. Finally, I intend to discuss why the Theory is not a comprehensive theory of foreign policyand why the assumptions required for the Theory to hold limit the cases that can be explained by it. After finding numerous theoretical and practical difficulties in the attempts thus far to draft of a theory of state behavior, Welch proposes that [a] possible way out of [these difficulties] is to seek to base predictions not on explanations of why states behave the way they do in general... but on explanations of why they deviate from their prior behavior. Looking only at the changes in state behavior is a radical approach; it is a perspective from which what [states] do in general is irrelevant. 2 Temporarily ignoring state goals, Welch turns his attention to how states ... When it comes down to it there are people who claim Beowulf to be Christ like and there are people who say Beowulf is not Christ like but just pagan folklore or an epic past down from generation to generation. In this article you will hear reasons as to why he is considered Christ like through his own actions and free will, you will see this through symbolism, portrayal of Christ, an example of knowing that they will die, and finally knowing that they will be betrayed by their own followers . So if you carefully read through this argument of the epic as to why Beowulfis like that, then you can at least see a glimpse or fully pick up on his Christ like abilities by personality, actions, and patterns.... Beowulf did all of these good deeds because he did it for the good of man and because he loathed the powers of evil that tempted man. He did all this for the good of man and because he cared of his people too, in the end of the epic Beowulf was proven to fight hard and save the treasure for his people so they could thrive for many years. One other thing Beowulf did to prove this Christ like sense was that he always thanked god, one example of this is, By favor of God we won the fight, did the deed of valor, and boldly dared the might of the monster, (Pg. 19) In just that line not only did he thank God but he was preaching to his men as well like Jesus ... Since the early 1800 s most executions have resulted from convictions for murder. The death penalty has also been imposed for such serious crimes as armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, and treason. There is much disagreement about whether or not capital punishment is effective in discouraging crime. In the early 1990 s, 36 states of the United States had laws that permitted the death penalty. Although in some cases this may be true, it is not always that way. Misconceptions about popularity lead to a greater divide amongst the social classes, and cause those in the lower social levels to be considered as or to feel as if they are inferior. Hate speech differs from all other discourse in that it can never lead to anything productive for society, and the value of counter discourse can be judge as minimal. The characteristics that are under attack in hate speech are immutable and innate to an individual, and there is nothing that can, or should be, done to change them. Consequently, it is very well possible to distinguish between hate speech and any other forms of speech. Of course, the slippery slope argument can always be applied by fear mongers, who ask, Where will the line be drawn? • 21. The Lady And The Tramp By Gwendolyn Mink Analysis In this paper, I will explain how the article The Lady and the Tramp (II): Feminist Welfare Politics, Poor Single Mothers, and the Challenge of Welfare Justice by Gwendolyn Mink relates to the thematic focus of working women and the Marxist and socialist branch of feminism. In Feminist Thought: A More Comprehensive Introduction, Rosemarie Tong explains that Marxist and socialist feminists understand women s oppression as a labor issue. Women s work is not viewed as a productive contribution to society. One of the ways Marxist and socialist feminists sought to improve women s oppression was through the wages for housework campaign of the 1970s, which fought for work done in the domestic sphere to be paid and respected by society. In this same vein, Mink s article can be viewed as a continuation of sorts of the wages for housework campaign. Mink suggests that poor single mothers have the right for their work to be recognized by society and supported economically like the Marxist and socialist feminist in the 1970s. According to Marxists, women are oppressed because they are not viewed as a class of workers, which is highly valued in a Marxist society. It is important to note that Marxists reject the conception of human nature, claiming that our ability to produce our means of subsistence is what makes humans different from animals that are governed by instinct (Tong 94). Therefore, humans are what we are because of the productive activities we engage in to meet our needs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did The Second Vatican Council Change The Second Vatican Council (1962 1965) as stated by Hobson and Welbourne (2002) is seen as a catalyst for major change in the discourse of religious education . Religious educators have found it necessary to change not only what they teach, but more importantly, how they teach it to make accommodation for changes to both culture and tradition. These changes include the impact of early Catholic schools and the shift from lay to religious teachers, as well as the evolution of secular theories from historical approaches through to contemporary approaches that were influenced by Church documents and the faith experiences of students and teachers. Vatican II understood that if the Church was to move forward and keep pace with changes to society, it would need to provide opportunities where Christian faith made adjustments for future diversities (Hobson and Welbourne, 2002). The Second Vatican Councilwould provide the turning point for Catholic education in both what was taught and how it was taught (Hobson and Welbourne, 2002). This came in the form of a new approach to religious instruction. The life centred approach focused on students and teachers sharing and reflecting on life experiences and building on their understanding of faith together (Engebretson, as cited in Buchanan, 2005). During this time Catholic schools were experiencing change: increases in immigration resulted in a wide diversity of students from different cultures and faiths and students were no longer attending Mass with their families (Ryan, as cited in Buchanan, 2005). This led to many students attending Catholic schools who were not connected to their faith or the life of the parish, which made it difficult for the life centred approach to remain effective as students were unable to link life experience with faith (Buchanan, 2005). The book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, written in 1953, is set in in the future. The book s concept is about how books were banned and it explained how life was changed without books. It has many fictional examples of how society controls individuals in real life even today. However, they might be seen as slightly exaggerated. There are many documentaries and articles that explain and warn of the power society can have over an individual, and how the people must guard themselves against it. Shale And The Shale Gas Boom Fracturing Shale Marcellus Shale, also known, as the Marcellus Formation, is black, organically rich, shale that exists underneath the surface of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee, and Virginia. The shale is located roughly one mile below the surface of these states and has an estimated 141 trillion cubic feet of attainable natural gas. As of 2015, Marcellus shale gas wells were reportedly yielding 14.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day ( Marcellus Shale Appalachian Basin Natural Gas Play ). This shale discovery is known as one of the largest natural gas reserves in the United States, and this underground gas is now reachable thanks to hydraulic fracturing and horizontally drilling. These two techniques, when used in combination, have enabled gas producers to extract shale gas both rapidly and economically ( The Marcellus Shale Gas Boom ). Although, there are many myths and disagreements with the way America gets this natural gas, it has proven to have more advantages than disadvantages. Marcellus Shale is an excellent resource because natural gas is a clean energy source. When natural gas is burned, it emits only half the amount of CO2 ( E Forum: Pros and Cons ). In Whitman s To a Locomotive in Winter , the first line is, Thee for my recitative, / (Gioia 724). His use of the word recitative implies a serious if not tragic tone. According to the OxfordDictionary.com recitative is defined as, Musical declamation of the kind usual in the narrative and dialogue parts of opera and oratorio, sung in the rhythm of ordinary speech with many words on the same note: singing in recitative. Therefore, since most operas have a serious if not tragic tone, Whitman is letting the reader know from the first line that the poem will have a serious tone. Now compare that to the first line in Dickinson s poem, I like to see it lap the Miles / (Gioia 724). Her use of the phrase, I like to see it lap , gives the impression of a more fun or playful tone. These differences in tone can be seen again, when comparing line nine of To a Locomotive in Winter with line two of I like to see it lap the Miles . In line nine Whitman writes, Thy dese and murky clouds out belching from thy smoke stack, / (Gioia 724). This line is very serious and dark. Many people argue that it is morally wrong to take a humanlife, and others may argue that it is even more wrong to make someone suffer more than they need to. This is because by letting the person decide whether or not their life ends, you are maintaining justice. If you do not let a person decide their own fate, it denies their rights and their freedom. It will only increase the amount of suffering of not only the patient but everyone involved if you do not grant the patient his wish to end his life because then he or she will only die more slowly and more painfully. If a patient decides to go through with euthanasia and is able to find a doctor who has moral rights that are not against the act, then it will only relieve the patient of time that he or she would have wasted in pain. The only type of suffering that will occur is how those involved will feel after the patient has died, but death is inevitable the patient is already on the verge of dying and euthanasia will only shorten this process. Another reason why I believe that euthanasia is morally permissible is because being alive and living are two completely different things. I believe the divine command theory is false because the Euthyphro argument shows that God either has reasons for his commands or he doesn t, either of which highlight flaws in the divine command theory. Before I can argue against the divine command theory, it is important to first understand the belief. According to Russ Shafer Landau in his book, The Fundamentals of Ethics, the divine command theory states that an action is right simply because God says so, and an action is wrong simply because God says so (Shafer Landau). For example, rape is wrong only because God said it was wrong, and being kind to people is good only because God said it was good. Many religious people are proponents of the divine command theory, even though few religions today actually support the view ( Divine ). Although the divine command theory and the ideal observer theory are often thought to be interchangeable, they are different in many important ways. The ideal observer theory states that an action is morally right or wrong if a morally perfect and unbiased person would judge that action to be morally right or wrong (Brandt). One example of an ideal observer theory is the divine judgement theory. The divine judgement theory states that an action is morally right or wrong only if God would judge that action to be morally right or wrong (Robbins). Although both the divine judgement theory and divine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Jet2 Task 2 JET2 Task 2 A1. Concerns There are many concerns with the budget planning for Competition Bike. From year 2006 to 2008, Competition Bike experienced a 13.3% increase in sales. In year 9, sales are projected to increase to 3510 units to give sales revenue of $5,247,450. This is a bold increase after 3400 units sold in 2008 and 4000 sold in 2007. I do not think the sales will be as robust with the economy rebounding. Sales projections should be 3425 with net sales at $5,120,375. Since the Competition Bike Company projected overly optimistic sales, there are several areas in the budget that will be affected. The areas affected are Sales Commission, Transportation Out, Advertising, Research and Development, Raw Materials, and Labor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Direct Labor had a 150,000 Unfavorable Variance, but had a 50,000 favorable Efficiency Variance. The labor costwas up due to the high skill level needed for the bike manufacturing. The 50,000 favorable Efficiency Variance enabled the high skill labor to perform the task very efficiently. The Manufacturing Overhead had a 24,000 unfavorable Price Variance, and a 2426 unfavorable Efficiency Variance. The Advertising Cost had a 5,000 unfavorable Price Variance and a 1246 favorable Efficiency Variance. This suggest that Competition Bike spent more on Advertising in order to boost lagging sales, and the favorable Efficiency Variance shows that even though more was spent than budgeted, the money spent was efficient and worth the increase. The Transportation Out had a 3207 unfavorable Price Variance and a 2400 unfavorable Efficiency Variance. This suggest that Transportation cost were up due to increased fuel cost, and this increase in cost resulted in unfavorable Efficiency Variance due to transporting fewer bikes with increase in fuel cost.
