Reflection Of Writing Poetry
I have always been interested in systems and structures. As a child I enjoyed the challenge of
writing poetry, the intense structures mirrored in sentence fragments and the chaos of words.
Somewhere along the way this semester I remember listening in on a conversation about
rhyming words, we are obsessed with rhyming. As a lover of poetry I began to ponder why we
love rhyming words so much, my conclusion is that it gives a through line of sound in a chaotic
language. Education is much like poetry, it finds itself grounded in structure but there are little
nuances along the way that allow chaos to form, shifting the ideal into reality. As said by John
Dewey in 1916 in Democracy and Education, ... there is a kind of passivity, willingness to let
experiences accumulate and sink in and ripen which is essential of development... we are all
instructors to realize that quality of mental process, not the production of correct answers, is the
measure of educative growth... (Allen, 2011, p.30). If my brain was a filing cabinet at the start of
the semester everything I thoughtit knew got thrown on the floor, as time passed and I organised my
thoughts new documents began to find their way into the piles, changing the system that was
previously created. Growth, reflection and perception have dominated my thought processes this
semester, the through line is assessment. Assessment regarding learningbut also assessment as
reflection of thought, convergent, divergent and lateral modes of thinking. The three modes of

Dublin, Ireland. This was about the same time North Carolina became a royal colony. She
married William Darragh, a family friend and member of the clergy, in 1753. They moved to
Philadelphia a few years later, settling into a large Quaker community. William became a tutor
and Lydia found work as a midwife. They raised five children, with four others perishing as
infants. Quakers were known for being pacifists, though the Darraghs secretly supported the rebels
and their cause. The plot thickened as British troops marched into Philadelphia in 1777. The
following October General Washington failed to recapture the city, and his troops retreated to
Whitemarsh. The day after, Major John Andre demanded the use of the Darragh s home for
meetings. Lydia s cousin helped persuade them to allow her to stay in her home, though the
youngest of the children were sent to their relatives outside the city. Not only could they continue to

a barrier can be time. This can be an issue because care providers may not want to spend the time
to properly teach the resident and want to do it themselves so that it is faster, it is important that
the nurses be supportive and patient (McGinley, 2015). The second intervention about the
coloured plates can have issues arise regarding money. If it is easier and more affordable for an
institution to only have one colour plates, then having special plates for residents with vascular
dementia could be a challenge. To overcome this, having the family bring in coloured plates if
they are able to could resolve this problem (McGinley, 2015). Lastly, having a nurse sit with a
resident with vascular dementia for the duration of the meal to stop their wandering could be a
challenge because it is unlikely that an institution would be able to have health care professionals

Generally speaking, men are more aggressive in nature than women. In fact, violence is the one
variable of which there are overwhelmingly skewed results proving gender differences. So we may
ask ourselves, why do women strike men inside the house in relatively equal numbers, but nearly
never resort to violenceoutside the home? Women for instance may argue that their aggression
towards men is harmless, and that slapping a man is quite feminine. These explanations may likely
have some validity, but neither addresses motivation for the violence, nor the context in which it
occurs. When in actuality, empirical research on female violence tells another story. Bjorkqvist and
Niemela (1992) provides us with evidence that women are as aggressive as males, but only when

The Methodological Problem of Memory Methodological problems, in many cases, may skew the
results. Retrospection is greatly relied upon in Crime Victimization Studies, and bias may extend
itself to these studies as well. Our current interests may derail our accurate account of what actually

underreport victimization of violence by women because it is so emasculating and shaming.

Falsification in Science the Hypothetico deductive method
Scientific knowledge is proven knowledge. Scientific theories are derived in some rigorous way
from the facts of experience acquired by observation and experiment. Science is based on what
we can see and hear and touch, etc. Personal opinion or preferences and speculative imaginings
have no place in science. Science is objective. Scientific knowledge is reliable knowledge because
it is objectively proven knowledge.
Alan Chalmers, What Is This Thing Called Science?, 1982, p.1.
Chalmers represents the traditional inductivist view with his statement on science. An inductivist
makes observations, then creates a general statement that aims to explain the encountered
phenomenon. However, Karl Popper, another scientific philosopher, has completely rejected this
scientific method and has argued against the sole use of induction when conducting scientific
research. Unsatisfied with Chalmers method, and the traditional inductive method in general, he
instead made his own version of the scientific method, dubbed the hypothetico deductive method .
These two scientific methods contrast each other, and to demonstrate their difference Chalmers
statement will be evaluated using the typical view of one who subscribes to Popper s hypothetico
deductive method of falsification. I will then evaluate the two methods, commenting on their
