The Relationship Between Print And Digital Reading Essay
Printed and Digital
Analyzing some aspects of the relationship between print and digital reading. A first essential aspect:
more than indicating the substitution of texts printed by the digital ones, the readers of our universe of
research coexistence of these two formats (Dourish Mazmanian, 2013). There is no disjunction, for the
readers that would take the form of reading in print or digital, reading in one or the other; is verified in
the practice that readers read both. This reading in both must be nuanced, as it is not a matter of
reading everything in print and digital, regardless. Some interesting relationships are drawn. First, text
size influences support preferences (Mollen, 2016). Texts large ones are preferably read in print; texts
can be read in such a way that both in print and in digital.
The type of text is also relevant. More serious consumption texts (work and study, notably) tend to
lead to print, from fun to digital. These first two factors, size and type of text, should be articulated
with whether it is a full text or an excerpt (a chapter, for example, for Study): complete text points to
printed matter. Crossing the three elements, an ideal type of text, which would tend to be consumed in
print. At the other extreme, second type Ideal, we have a small text section and fun, which would tend
to digital. The Crosses of these elements can give rise to a continuous range of possibilities. Access to
text is also important. On the other hand, there are

Essay on Film Trailer Portfolio
Film Trailer Portfolio
When the task of creating a film trailer was first put to us, I had several ideas for the movie s context.
The first was of a movie in the action genre that dealt with revenge, whilst the other two were in the
horror genre. The horror genre appealed to me more, as a low budget film can still have the desired
effect by use of different filming techniques, and I wanted to depend more on a psychological aspect.
My first idea was to do a film about a poltergeist. I had watched several films such as Poltergeist , but
wanted to create a film that relied less on visual effects, something that leant towards the style of
Albert Hitchcock, who is still seen today as the Master of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I purchased the Exorcist DVD, which featured a making of documentary. Here I learned of Friedkin s
strict attention to detail, and also uncovered some of his secrets that made the film so effective. The
film features two main techniques throughout the film that I immediately thought about adding to my
own film, those being the use of lighting and sound. The film moves from very bright light scenes,
such as the films opening in the Middle East, to the darkness of Georgetown (the films setting), or
from the clean and well lit living room of the house, to the black and gloomy mist of the girl s
bedroom. Why?
The sound was used similarly, from eerily quiet to sudden loudness, one scene that uses this is the
sharp cut from the Priest s gentle dream of his mother, to the piercing scream of the little girl. Why
The use of restful music as the main soundtrack in The Exorcist added to the loud and quiet technique
Friedkin used, to create the sense that everything is calm. I myself began my trailer using this
technique, with some gentle music, so that when things begin to go wrong, the impact is more
substantial.
The voice that was created for the demon in this film was dubbed in synch after the scenes had been
shot. I used this technique to dub in the voice of the priest in my trailer, the line I dare not say was
recorded by microphone input

Hydraulic Fracturing And Its Effects On The Environment
Hydraulic Fracturing
Introduction
For this assignment I have chosen to look in to a subject that is in the news media spotlight. The
subject is the process of hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, we will learn about this process by
answering the following questions. First what is hydraulic fracturing and what is the process used for.
Then we will look at the actual process of hydraulic fracturing (how it works). Next we will take a
closer look at some of the chemical use during the hydraulic fracturing process. Then we discuss the
possible environmental impacts if any caused by hydraulic fracturing? Finally, we will look some of
the measures being developed to mitigate the possible impact to the environment from hydraulic
fracturing.
What Is Hydraulic Fracturing And What Is It Used For? The term hydraulic fracturing (AKA fracking)
is a common term used in today s media in reference to the oil industry. But what is hydraulic
fracturing or fracking? hydraulic fracturing defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) as a process used to maximize the extraction of underground resources; including oil, natural
gas, geothermal energy, and even water (EPA, 2014). Simply put fluid and a mix of material and
chemicals are pumped into an already drilled well at high pressure to extract the desired resource (i.e.
natural gas) trapped within a solid such as shale rock, we will look at this process and the elements
used in it latter in this paper.

Athena And Mesopotamia Similarities
Located in various places throughout the world, the popular urban cities of Egypt, Mesoamerica, and
Mesopotamia used to serve as economic and ideological centers. Although there were many
similarities amongst these peculiar places, each city was different when it came to exhibiting
intellectual messages and meanings. As we take a closer look into the Amarna and the Medinet Habu
Temple of Egypt, one may notice how divided the domestic, economic, and religious spaces were in
comparison to other urban areas. On the other hand, while observing Teotihuacan and Tikal of
Mesoamerica, we were able to recognize the nature of the sacred city s landscape due to its open
plazas and how it legitimized the rule of kings. Lastly, while uncovering the ancient ... Show more

Both cities had large sanctuaries and open plazas, which emphasized the importance of religion since
many ceremonies were performed at these various temples. They were also striking and soaring in
structure, which conveyed the notion that it brought people closer to heaven. This is essential because
brought many people together from different areas and conveyed the royal authority as sacred. As for
the social and political landscape of these two cities, it was not as separated when comparing to other
ancient urban areas. Emerging as one of the few competing City states that characterized
Mesopotamian civilization, the city of Ur was most known for its wealth and power of the ruling elite.
The Ziggurat temple of Ur Nammu was the city s most known place of worship that was dedicated to
Nanna, the moon god. Even today, the building s structure is considered a masterpiece due to the
skillfully calculated heights of different stages and the slope of the walls that lead the eye directly to
the center. Portraying his political and economical dominance, Ur Nammu showcased his power

RNA Interference in Biotechnology and Pharmacetics Essay
Almost all biology students learn the fundamentals of gene expression, DNA contains information
which is transcribed into RNA to create protein. Students however, are not taught of RNA
Interference, the biological process where RNA molecules inhibit a gene s expression, RNAi for short.
While RNAi is a fairly new discovery, its use in modern biological research is groundbreaking. RNA
Interference works by binding Double stranded RNA molecules (siRNA) to a complementary
messenger RNA. The enzymes Dicer and Slicer then cleave the chemical bonds which hold the
messeger RNA in place and prevent it from delivering protein silencing instructions thus, the term,
Gene Silencing. This phenomenon was first discovered by Richard Jorgensen in 1990 when ... Show

Sanofi plans on using antibodies to target PCSK9 which could lead to an alternative to the commonly
used statins drug. Out of the 32 patients in the most recent trial, 24 received a single dose of the RNAi
drug. The results showed that the expression of PCSK9 dropped to a staggering average, 70% and a
40% decrease of LDL cholesterol levels. If the PCSK9 inhibition drug deems successful it is still not
sure whether the drug will perform well from a business aspect.
Another application of RNAi is in Parkinson s disease. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health
have successfully used RNA Interference to uncover several genes which possibly represent new
therapeutic targets for treating Parkinson s disease. These discoveries may also be useful to other
diseases cause by damage to the mitochondria. Researcher Richard Youle explains, we discovered a
network of genes that may regulate the disposal of dysfunctional mitochondria, opening the door to
new drug targets for Parkinson s disease and other disorders
(http://www.nih.gov/news/health/nov2013/ninds 24.htm). On certain occasions of Parkinson s the
gene parkin, which tags damaged mitochondria as waste, is mutated. This

mutilation leads to excess accumulation of unhealthy mitochondria in the body. Dr. Youle and his
colleagues worked alongside Scott Martin using robotics to introduce small interfering RNA

Discuss the Interaction Between Cognition and Physiology...
Discuss the interaction between cognition and physiology in terms of behavior
Introduction: cognition, physiology, relation Amnesia: retrograde, anterograde Memory: multi store,

Cognition, as defined by Neisser, is all the processes by which the brain transforms, reduces,
elaborates, stores, retrieves, and uses information. Physiology refers to the structures of the human
body and brain. The relationship between cognition and physiology is bi directional, meaning that
cognition can effect physiology and vice versa. Every cognitive aspect ... Show more content on

These two stores and further divided. Explicit memory contains episodic (events) and semantic (facts).
implicit contains procedural (skills) and emotional (emotions). For amnesic patients, the problem lies
mostly with explicit memory.
There are three main ways to study the differences between the types of memories. The first is the
study of anterograde amnesic patients. For example, the study done by Spiers, Maguire and Burgess.
They studied 147 cases of anterograde amnesia with damage to the hippocampus. psychological
testing proved that all cases had impaired episodic memory and limitedly impaired semantic. This
shows that the hippocampus is responsible for episodic memory. To make the conclusion more
reliable, another study was done by Vargha and Khadem, with 3 anterograde amnesic patients, and
found the same results, except that the semantic memory was completely intact. They found that
semantic memory was localized to the cortices underlying the hippocampus.
Another way of studying the differences between the two is by studying retrograde amnesic patients. a
retrograde amnesic patient known as KC was studied to find that the damage to his hippocampus
impaired his episodic memory, but his semantic memory was still intact. The study of amnesic patients
is done in psychology to study the relations between the physiology and cognition, because the
damage to the brain can be seen easily,

Isolation And Loneliness In Ender s Game, By Orson Scott Card
Isolation and loneliness caused an innocent boy to lose his livelihood. In the book, Ender s Game, by
Orson Scott Card, a boy named Ender is whisked away into Battle School. Battle school is tough for
Ender and it is hard for him to become a well rounded person when the odds are stacked against him.
One of these odds is isolation and loneliness. Although isolation and loneliness make Ender a strong
leader, nevertheless, isolation and loneliness have impacted Ender because he doesn t gain friends, he
is left to himself, and he becomes a murderer. The theme of loneliness continues throughout the whole
book. Ender soon realizes that he won t gain any friends because of his successes. Ender, a little boy,
is faced with the fact that he is different, however, he does not yet know that his differences will make
him one of if not the most powerful leader. ...he was the master soldier, and he was completely, utterly
alone. (Pg. 140) This quote entails how when Ender reached the top, he had no friends, no one but
himself. Ender is pressured to be the best he can be, and although that lead him to the top, he was still

Eye of the Beholder Twilight Zone Essay
The Twilight Zone was notoriously known for reflecting social and political issues in an entertaining
and imaginative allegories. Debuting in 1959 and airing until 1964, this anthological series often left
viewers contemplating their own thoughts through the stories creator Rod Serling painted out for
them. One episode in particular, directed by Douglas Heyes, was notorious for the impact it left on
viewers. Airing on November 11th, 1960 and running at 25 minutes and 14 seconds, Eye of the
Beholder made a dramatic impact on viewers due to its intensely eerie nature and topsy turvy world.

The doctor then stands up and heads towards the window, now facing the light. The nurse now
becomes a metaphor for society and how most people think, and him turning her back towards her and
facing the light shows him beginning to turn his back on society and starting to question and reject it,
thus becoming enlightened. Every time the doctor starts to critically think out loud, the camera goes
from a medium shot to a medium close up of the back of his head. He then begins to talk about how he
sees Janet s real face or her actual self. This scene was after Janet broke down to the doctor,
questioning who says what is attractive and normal, and saying a powerful quote This state is not God.
This clearly affected the doctor and got him thinking and realizing that she is a human being. Earlier
in this scene, the nurse refers to Janet as Patient 307 rather than her own name. This shows how
society can easily dehumanize people when we do not deem them functioning members of society, for
there is nothing more demeaning then being referred to as a number as we have seen in terrible times
such as the Holocaust referring to the concentration camp members. The nurse, remaining in the dark,
says It s easier for me to think of her as human when her face is covered up . When the doctor explains
that he saw her real face, the face of a real self, it s a good face, it s a human face It shows that he now
sees her as a person rather than just a case, sadly how

My Political Philosophy
My Political Philosophy Political Philosophy is typically a study of a wide range of topics such as,
justice, liberty, equality, rights, law, politics and the application of a codified law. Depending on what
the philosophy is, it usually tends to be a very sensitive and a personal ideology that an individual
holds within the reality of their existence. Several of the fundamental topics of political philosophy
shape up the society that we live in as these specific topics and their implementation by the state
ensures a legitimate government. In Political Philosophy, the aforesaid concepts or topics are
evaluated and analyzed with tremendous depth in context to their history and intent. Furthermore, in a
rather colloquial sense, political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is important because inequality causes unrest and brings about interminable turmoil which can
eventually lead to a collapse of a regime or a state. If every human being is given equal opportunities
then the outcome after those opportunities were presented, whether it was success of failure, fully rests
upon the individual s shoulders. In case of failure, the government or any other individual would not
be held accountable. Freedom is another core value that should be given precedence over all other
values and beliefs because it is a mode or a state where an individual is free to speak, act and seek
contentment without the restraint of an outside force. It gives one the notion that anything and
everything is possible. It also encourages free and authentic thought which is fundamental for the
progression of a society. People should be given the freedom to make their own choices and follow
them through without any reluctance or fear that they will be penalized. Of course, the freedom of
thought and expression also comes with a condition, which is, that those thoughts and expressions
should not become a nuisance for others. In other words, those thoughts and expressions should not
have adverse affect for others.

The Metrics of English Fred: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to this lovely evening in the city of
London in the world renowned Globe Theatre. Today we are joined by two guests, Sylvia Miller and
Joseph Johnson and I am your host, Fred Phillips. Both our guests having many years of linguistics
and literature experience will analyse several texts that belong to different stages of the English
language and compare their ideas. Why may you ask? To discuss the points of comparison between
linguistics and the aesthetic analysis of English literature and discover the underlying oral similarities
of our language
Sylvia Miller is renowned for her understanding and interpretation of the aesthetic aspects of English
literature throughout the periods Old English to the Modern English, ranging from 800 A.D, all the
way to the twentieth century. Sylvia argues that the language is based on entertainment and that the
enjoyment of the text lies in bringing out the beauty of the language and the craftsmanship of the
author. And, as for Joseph Johnson, his insight and deconstruction of text and the English language
through linguistics is able to magnify the origins of the text and how its historical context would have
affected the language and style of writing. With this analysis, text and language becomes a historical
timeline that contains the foundations of Modern English. With these two individuals tonight,

The Conception Of Dreams Is Interesting Because It Helps...
Dreams can occur at anytime of the day. Some people day dream at school or work while others dream
at night. Even if you did not dream last night, you probably have earlier in life or even before reading
this sentence. Have you ever had a dream you forgot to print out a worksheet and got in trouble for it
at school? Then, you wake up with your heart racing and print out the worksheets before you forget.
How are dreams created during sleep? During rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, the brain gathers
images and thoughts to create realistic or imaginative dreams. There has been some debate if these
dreams could actually help someone in their life. Whether it helps them just a little or substantially,
people can use all the help they can receive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stress accumulates, depressive moods and thoughts develop day after day which creates an
unhealthy atmosphere for anyone. This could lead to negative thoughts and unproductivity of any task
at hand. However, one of the solutions discovered to help with the depressing thoughts and moods was
through dreaming at night. According a study performed by Rosalind Cartwright, the study showed
that 72% of the subjects had less depression after dreaming (Chatterjee). How was this possible?
There was a decreased development of depression while moods changed throughout the night. This
could be explained by experiencing a pleasant dream which causes a release of pleasure
neurotransmitters such as serotonin or dopamine. Pleasant dreams could be anything from
superpowers related to even sexual. Another interesting thing about dreams, it can help someone find a
problem that is bothering them through nightmares or dream adventures. Therefore, an explication of a
dream can lead to understanding personality dynamics and promote behavioral change (Merced 183).
Dreams could point out personality dynamics that need changing following a traumatic experience.
People s personality changes with every experience that occurs to them; therefore, it is possible to be
happy one day then sad another day. Dreams can lead the dreamer to the problem and help get them
mentally back on track. With dreams mentally being able to help,

River Stinchar Research Paper
The River Stinchar and its tributaries, the ferly burn and the Dalquairne burn show patterns which
follow the Bradshaw Model to a large extent. The typical upper course of a river is narrow in width,
shallow in depth and slow in velocity. The load size is very large and therefore, less of it. The bank
gradients are steep and the discharge levels are low. All these features gradually change as the river
flows downstream. This is shown in figure 2 The location chosen for study is The River Stinchar and
its tributaries which are located in South Ayrshire and flow south west from the Galloway Forest Park
and were chosen due to a previous visit to the area. The location can be seen in figure 1. There is a
single lane farm track that is actually a National Cycle Route that runs level with the burns and also
with the Stinchar itself which allows for easy access. This location was chosen because the waters
manage to cover the upper, middle and lower course in a small distance making it more efficient to
study. This area is very isolated and the nearest settlement is the village of Crosshill which is 8 miles
away. There were very few signs of life with only three or four houses, all of them being hill sheep
farms which meant that we did not disturb anyone while doing our study. ... Show more content on

Cognitive Biases And Structured Analytic Techniques
There are many cognitive biases that affect the analytic process and inhibit analysts from reaching the
height of their accuracy. Each of these cognitive biases affect thinking in a unique way, but there are
different techniques that can be used to overcome these biases. Most of the time cognitive biases are
not intentional which is why it is so important that measures are taken to reduce the effect of cognitive
biases. Structured Analytic Techniques effectively reduce the effect of cognitive biases in many
different ways. This paper will examine four cognitive biases and Structured Analytic Techniques that
can help intelligence analysts be more accurate and less biased in their analysis. Anchoring is a

Outside in thinking is a strategy that requires analysts to think from the perspective of the outside. The
first step of outside in thinking is to list all of they forces that could have an impact on a certain topic
or issue. From there the analyst looks at possible factors that could influence that topic such as policy
changes or actions of an adversary. The next step is to analyze how each of those factors could affect
the topic or issue that the analyst is focusing on. The final step of outside in thinking is to judge
whether or not the factors you identified are relevant to the issue at hand. This process requires the
analyst to first look at all possible information and then work until they have reached a conclusion.
The conclusion is the last step of this process and the analyst is aware of this fact so they are less
likely to only look for information that supports their conclusion. This thinking process is effective in

Lord Of The Flies Book And Book Comparison Essay
Lord of the Flies Movie and Book Comparison Harry Hook did an amazing job of producing the
movie Lord of the Flies though not a lot of people enjoyed it as much as William Golding s book. The
novel was published in 1954 when the movie was first released the year of 1990. But, the movie had
so many amazing details you didn t want to miss, it was fascinating to watch as well. On the other
hand, the book had many action and meaning to it. For me, both the movie and book were captivating,
however, some parts were completely different. Before I start talking about the differences of the

Secondly, in the novel, Jack and Piggy s relationship was fairly better than the relationship they had in

glasses and told them they could use them. On the other hand, in the film, it was Ralph who had the
idea to use his glasses, because Jack s relationship was very weak with the boy who had asthma. And
they surely didn t get along.
Thirdly, there were a lot of differences about the pig (Lord of the Flies) and the snake like thing. In the
movie when the boys are all sitting around the fire Jack starts telling them a scary story about a thing.
Although if you watch the movie you d know that the beastie came from the imagination and noises
the littluns have been hearing each night. In the book the beast (dead man) also got spotted by the
boys tanged on a tree with his parachute, and when Ralph noticed him he said It had teeth.... And big
black eyes. If you compare that to the film it turns out to be the opposite since a littlun from Jack s
tribe heard someone in a cave while hunting, and described it being a monster. Now, let s talk about
the Pig or in other words the Lord of the flies and how Simon approached him in a different way. In
the movie Simon didn t actually talk to the Pig on a Stick He was hallucinating, and imagining that the
pig s head was talking to him. For example, Simon imagined the head talking to him, but they were

A Film On The Melting Ice Caps Essay
Reina of Antarctica
I propose a film on the melting ice caps, using the character Reina as the reason that they are melting.
She will be the reason for melting the ice caps due to humans came to her home and drill for oil where
she lives. I chose to have both Greek and Japanese mythology because I thought it would be a great
idea to see how the two cultures will come together. Since both countries are known by many people
all around the world and because they are surrounded by the sea these two countries would be the first
to be swallowed by the sea that surrounds then due to the melted ice caps. The ending is supposed to
represent the ice caps still melting now. The government that is going to sponsor the drilling company
will be the English because the English are newer at drilling than the United States, since they are new
at drilling they were exploited by the company.
Antarctica, extremely cold and the home of penguins, and huge icebergs. The home of the princess of
the cold, Reina. She wears what a normal teenager may wear during the summer. Yet, it is during the
winter and she doesn t mind it. It is during the third quarter of year, so it is extremely cold and 72
degrees Fahrenheit. She is friends with all the animals near her home. She is a beautiful young woman
who transforms into a monster when she is upset.

Since she spent most of her life being taunted for being Jewish, this is to be expected. She frequently
shows Jews to be smart, attractive, and/or successful. She mentions the mistreatment of Jews in nearly
all of her novels. In Cimarron, the town Jew was running for mayor. But the wife of the other
candidate gave a speech about the race where she declared, ?A Jew for mayor of Osage! They?ll be
having an Indian mayor next. Mr. Wyatt?s folks are real Americans? (Ferber 218).
She writes about the mistreatment of Native Americans to a great extent in Cimarron. Sabra?s son was
particularly fond of them and when arguing with his mother?s family said, ?Indians don?t fight white
men anymore. They can?t. Their, uh, spirit is broken. they only fought in the first place because the
white men took their buff?loes away from them, that they lived on and ate and traded the skins and
that was all the had, and their land away from them? (Ferber 150). All of her novels are read as a
celebration of Americana, when she is actually writing about unfair treatment of the underdog, such as
the Jew, the Negro, the Indian, or the strength of the American woman, who would persevere and
survive alone even when the man in her life deserted her. Both themes are deeply rooted in her own
life? (Shapiro 9).

My Little Sister, By Lizbeth Galarza
Dear teacher, allow me to provide you with some insight on who my little sister, Lizbeth Galarza, truly
is. At first glance, she might look like every other Ecuadorian girl with her thick dark brown hair,
deep, small brown eyes, and her short legs; but don t let that fool you her small legs have already
taken her so far in life. At 15 years old, she has learned to identify herself as being both Ecuadorian
and American and being proud of both parts of her, which wasn t so easy for her. She has achieved this
by being surrounded by two completely different environments, one at home and the other at school.
Being Ecuadorian has helped my sister out since the early stages of her life. This was most evident
when as a baby my mother made sure she swaddled her as tightly as she could so in the future she
would have a straight back and know how to stand straight in order to hold her head up high when
facing those who tried to discourage her. Because my mother knew that being latin and coming from a
big family, her little girl was not only going to have to face the judgment of people who thought they
were better than her simply based on race but she would also have to face the judgment of those
closest to her who would judge her because she didn t meet their now obsolescent expectations of who
she was supposed to grow into. My mother also made sure Lizbeth knew how lucky she was for
having all these opportunities to become whatever she wanted in life. As a baby, my sister was

Essay on Ancient Crete
Ancient Crete
First Inhabitants
?Humans are believed to have arrived on the island now known as Crete sometime between 6500
6000 BCE, and the early Neolithic inhabitants may have arrived from Asia Minor.? While these early
inhabitants were primitive, they had already adapted some stages of productivity such as possessing
domestic animals (?Minoan,? Dilos).? Modern archeological findings date handmade ceramic pottery,
which was frequently decorated with incised geometric motifs and made to imitate vessels made of
straw, wood, or hide, to this early time period (Koutsoupakis).?
Minoan Civilization

Pottery styles and decorations evolved during this time as Minoans used particular firing techniques
and shaped pottery into designs such as ?teapot? shapes and tall, beaked pitchers.? Toward 1900 BCE,
the end of this period, known as the Pre Palace Period, the first polychrome pottery was made (?
Minoan,? Dilos).
The First Palace Period: 1900 1700 BCE
?The next historical period, known as the First Palace Period, has been so named because the Minoans
began to build large palaces.? Modern excavations indicate there were palaces in Knossos, Phaestos,
Malia, and Zakros, though archeologists believe there must have been others (?Minoan,? Dilos).?
Excavations of these palaces have revealed several common characteristics: each contained a large
public courtyard and provisions for storing large quantities of grain.? The palaces were believed to be
administrative centers for large local populations; for example, recent estimates suggest Knossos had
between 15,000 and 50,000 people (?The Missing Minoans?).? Palace excavations also reveal fine
decorative pottery, perhaps the most decorative in the world, which was probably made at palace
workshops (Koutsoupakis).? The pottery, known as Kamares ware and named after the cave where the
pottery was first discovered, utilized polychrome and full movement in its designs.? Made in a variety

System Development Life Cycle Models
System Development Life Cycle Models The concept of making employees to form a work group is
very simple. But to make it fit the system is challenging. System Development Life Cycle uses certain
principles to assure that systems meet their requirements (DOJ, 2000). These principles impose
various degrees of discipline to the process to make it efficient and even predictable. The entire model
goes through certain phases of investigation to System Operation. It is matter of personnel choice
entirely to develop any model. Each model will suit only particular conditions. The main challenge is
to select the correct model for the system to make more efficient. THE SEVEN STEP

Experimental Oral Controlled Release And Site Specific...
ABSTRACT Oral controlled release and site specific drug delivery system has been of great interest
in pharmaceutical field to achieve improved therapeutic advantage. Drug absorption in the
gastrointestinal tract is a highly variable procedure and prolonging gastric retention of the dosage form
extends the time for drug absorption. Gastro retentive drug delivery system is one of such novel
approaches to prolong gastric residence time, thereby targeting site specific drug release in the
stomach for local or systemic effects. This approach is useful particularly for the drugs which have
narrow absorption window in the upper part of gastro intestinal tract. Various approaches of gastro
retentive drug delivery system, such as floating and non floating, have been discussed in this review.
This review also gives an overview of merits, demerits and evaluation parameters of gastro retentive
system.
Key words: Gastro retentive drug delivery system, non floating system, floating system, evaluation
parameters
INTRODUCTION: Despite the tremendous advancement in drug delivery, oral route is the most
preferred route to the systemic circulation due to the ease of administration, low cost of drug, patient
compliance and flexibility in formulation. About 90% of all drugs used to produce systemic effects are
administered by oral route. Of the drugs that are administered orally, solid oral dosage forms represent
the preferred class of products. Tablets are the most common type of

Essay On Touchscreen Media
Critically discuss the key arguments in the debate about the potential impact of touchscreen media use
on young children s development.
Touchscreen media is a rapidly developing industry, such that most people use a touchscreen media
device everyday (Cheung, Bedford, Saez de Urabain, Karmiloff Smith Smith, 2017). Whilst
touchscreen media is not a brand new phenomenon, it is ever changing and constantly developing.
Little research has been done to assess the longer term developmental implications of toddlers using
touchscreens (Bedford, Saez de Urabain, Cheung, Karmiloff Smith Smith, 2016). Whilst Bedford et
al. (2016) may argue that touchscreen media does not effect a child s development, research by
Cheung et al. (2017) suggests that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this suggestion, their findings do suggest a positive association between sleep and media use
even amongst toddlers, and therefore more research would need to be done in this field to reliably
determine whether touchscreen media use has the same effect on sleep for both toddlers and
adolescents.
Furthermore, research is beginning to be conducted into the effects touchscreen media has on the
physical development of children (Howie, Coenen, Campbell, Ranelli Straker, 2017). Howie et al.
(2017) used a sample 3 5 year old children, who used touchscreen media for approximately 1.5 hours
per day. The aim of this research was to see whether there would be key differences in the posture or
muscle movement in children who used touchscreen tablets in comparison to those who either
watched television or played with non screen toys. The key findings did indicate differences in
posture, muscle activity and the amount of time spent sitting and exercising between children in the
touchscreen condition compared to those in the traditional non screen toy condition. Howie et al.
(2017) acknowledge that on one hand, it can be seen as positive that touchscreen media increases
posture movement as the different variation in positions could be beneficial in helping to prevent

The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir Essay
The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir
In the chapter of her book The Second Sex entitled the Woman in Love, Simone de Beauvoir
characterizes the romantic ideal of the relationship with a man as a woman s purpose as a form of self
deception (translated here as bad faith ). The self deception de Beauvoir describes is based in the
thesis of The Second Sex. This is the idea that women have been deceived into believing that they are
second class humans. Western culture, according to de Beauvoir, teaches us that women are missing
some elusive element of the self that endows men with freedom a concept essential to the existentialist
definition of the conscious being. Therefore, a woman can never find fulfillment as a thinking person

653. This is the same mindset that Sartre applies to the anti Semite the refusal to consider the
complexity of the world in favor of a system that provides easy answers to all life s questions. Only,
unlike the anti Semite, the woman is turning her hatred inward; does she hate herself because she fears
freedom or because she feels she is not worthy of it? De Beauvoir seems to believe that fear is the
primary cause for this willing dependency. She cites the psychoanalytic view that women s obsession
with love does not comes from a desire for men at all, but from a desire to return to the secure
dependency of childhood. This explains the lifelong refuge some women take in infantile ( cute )
behavior and appearance, but psychoanalytic explanations for human behavior have proven to be far
less than perfect, and a woman s self worth (or, in this case, lack thereof) has far more complex roots
than a Freudian theorem.
What is sure is that the female ideal of love assumes a place of greater importance in the psyche than
the libido alone. The quest for absolute communion with the beloved assumes a mystical element that
is similar in many ways to religious devotion, as de Beauvoir explains. (The lack of belief in God
makes this attitude even more contemptible from an existentialist point of view.) The religious woman
and the romantic woman cope with their self loathing in the same way: in both

Messiah Of The Masses Summary
This paper is a review of the book Messiah of the Masses: Huey P. Long and the Great Depression.
The book was about the life history of Huey P. Long during the great depression era. The author of
this book was Glen Jeansonne and it was edited by Oscar Handlin. In 1993 this book was published by
Addison Wesley Educational Publishers Inc. There are many pros and some cons in this book but
overall it was a very interesting book. The author s goal was to educate everyone about the
misunderstood Huey P. Long. I agree that Jeansonne did accomplish his goal of doing that while
keeping a steady and fine flow throughout the book. It is also a good narration on human nature during
the time of the great depression. The only cons I have about the book was that it was very hard to
comprehend at points. I assume it was because I need to extend my vocabulary. Also, I did not like
how the book criticized Huey P. Long a lot. Even though he was somewhat a bad person I believe the
author could have put more accomplishments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Long is how he believed that was a master politician. I agree with this very much because of the way
Jeansonne wrote about his campaigning strategy. He basically had citizens of Louisiana wrapped
around his fingers by telling them what they wanted to hear. In chapter 7 it said that a national
correspondent wrote, They do not merely vote for him, they worship the ground he walks on... (p.142)
Also in chapter 3, Jeansonne supported his argument when he talked about how Huey limited his
points in a speech to only five points. Afterwards he stated that an assistant of Huey said, Smith
compared this tactic to promising a child a red bicycle for Christmas. (p.44) This view closely aligns
with my reasoning for my position of agreeing because he would talk about doing things and no one
would question how they got

How Change Is A Essential Part Of Life
Change is a vital part of life, it allows us to grow and mature overtime. Whether you want to believe it
or not, we go through changes. We find different outlooks, styles and sometimes we may even change
our personality, or maturity level. My choices over the course of this semester have changed me for
the better. I started this class oblivious to the norms and traditions of a college English class. I must
admit that for the first few weeks I was shocked at how different college is from my simple high
school English course.
I now have a different outlook on life. At the beginning of the semester I wasn t sure whether or not I
wanted to further my education at a four year university, or successfully complete my AA degree and
then enter a police academy. I can now say that I know my path and I can t wait to walk it, I m glad
that this change has happened in my life. Additionally, the next thing that has changed is my maturity
level. I didn t take this class as serious as I should have in the beginning and my grade reflected that. I
changed my attitude toward the course by concentrating more on the instructions and making sure that
I followed them to the best of my ability.
I wrote about the emotion desire in an essay earlier this semester, while I do feel this emotion daily
there is another emotion that stays prevalent in my mind. Pride is something that is a big part of my
personality, it is both a positive and a negative. Everyone needs at least some pride or else they

movement experientials (kinesthetic), KMP massage opportunities (tactile) to encourage multimodal
learning possibilities for understanding tension flow Attributes in the Kestenberg Movement Profile.
One video is a part of the recent KMP video project explaining all categories of the KMP system. The
second video shows dance/movement therapy in a High School with rural working class teenage
mothers and babies demonstrating a variety of temperaments. Along with tension flow rhythms,
another way that tension flow is classified in the KMP system is through its Attributes or intensity
factors. The tension level may remain even or adjust. It can adopt a high or low intensity, and can

Roy Lichtenstein was born in New York City on October 27th, 1923. He described his childhood as
quiet and uneventful. His father was a realtor; his mother was a housewife. Art was not taught at the
school Roy attended, but when he turned fourteen he began taking Saturday morning classes at the
Parson School of Design. After he graduated from high school in 1940 he attended the School of Fine
Art at Ohio State University. He was drafted however in 1943 in the middle of his education at Ohio

In 1969 he was given a retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.
His career as an artist mainly started in 1951, he usually painted cowboys and Indians in various
modern art styles. In 1957 he tried his hand at Abstract Expressionism. What he is famous for though
is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse in 1960
for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from mass
produced, merchandising images. His comic strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling, are
blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of benday
dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art and
abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact. These
painting made him famous and the first one man show of his comic strip paintings was in New York
City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was phenomenal. He has
the distinction of being the first American artist to have an exhibition at London s Tate Gallery.
Lichtenstein continued in this area for a while, taking subjects from sentimental
Romance magazines. He enclosed speeches in balloons and made landscapes in the
Comic book style. He also dabbled in making statues during this time, which

Domestic Violence Is A Serious And Ever Growing Problem
Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a serious and ever growing problem that the United States is faced with. Many
people have suffered from domestic violence, and many more are still suffering even though the abuse
ended years ago. Domestic violence victims still continue to suffer from the experience to this day.
The effects of domestic violence creates something that will stick with the victim for a lifetime.
Because victims fear reporting their problems to the police, many accounts of domestic violence goes
unreported (American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, 2001).
Ignorance to the problem of domestic violence will lead to many people becoming unsocial, suicidal,
depressed, and many other problems. Domestic violence will end when people feel safe with their
intimate partners and are comfortable with who they are. People need to be aware of what domestic
violence is and what the effects of an abuser are so they can avoid ever getting into a relationship that
will eventually lead to violence. If people focus on the problems domestic violence creates, then
people will feel safer with their partners and domestic violence will start to decrease in homes. This
paper is intended to inform others about what victims of domestic violence suffer from, what they
feel, and why they feel it. The following information is in depth research about the effects of domestic
violence on victims. Victims of domestic violence suffer from many disorders or trauma issues, and

Cake Decorating Papers
From the time 19 year old Ashley was assigned an independent study and she took the Wilton cake
decorating classes, Ashley knew she had found a new love. Her ability to create roses in any color she
wanted, to use a piping transfer sheet to make an intricate design on a cake, and to fill cupcakes with
chocolate ganache allowed her to feel a sense of control and like she was a true artist. So what exactly
is cake decorating? It is a form of art that uses all different types of designs and decorations to take a
basic cake and make it look more intricate and hopefully more beautiful. Over the past 10 years, cake
decorating products have become more accessible to the general public, making it easier for the at

Ashley has heard about this and did her research. She found out a lot about how classes were
therapeutic to regular people, but how cake decorating has been known to help celebrities and
prisoners as well. Gabrielle Fantelli talks about the benefits of baking therapy in her article and
claims, Kneading a batch of bread dough for 10/15 minutes will sure take away a lot of frustration and
negative feeling, the weighing of the ingredients, the repetitive motions and the feeling of being in
control could help keep calm and level up unruly anxiety feelings (para 2). She is acknowledging here
that many components of baking can help get out a lot of negative emotions and free someone of a
negative mentality or disposition. In Helen Razer s article, grandma Eileen Scriven expresses that It s
just a beautiful medium. I relax by making my flowers and such at night. I have four daughters and
eight grandchildren, and one little one with autistic features. We have a battle. But I have my cake
decorating (1). What she has expressed is that making the delicate parts of a decorated cake can be
relaxing, and can be a get away from family stressors something that is appealing to Ashley since she
often has troubles at home. But what really inspires Ashley is the testimonies of celebrities in the cake
decorating world who have found it therapeutic. John Whaite declares Baking helps lift my
depression. It can t cure it but it helps, (qtd. In Dawood (para 2 and 3). In need of background
information, Dawood comments that eight years ago, he was diagnosed with manic depression.
Whaite himself elaborates When I m in the kitchen, measuring the amount of sugar, flour or butter I

element of my condition is a feeling of no control (qtd. In Dawood para 5). Ashley finds these quotes

  • 2. The Relationship Between Print And Digital Reading Essay Printed and Digital Analyzing some aspects of the relationship between print and digital reading. A first essential aspect: more than indicating the substitution of texts printed by the digital ones, the readers of our universe of research coexistence of these two formats (Dourish Mazmanian, 2013). There is no disjunction, for the readers that would take the form of reading in print or digital, reading in one or the other; is verified in the practice that readers read both. This reading in both must be nuanced, as it is not a matter of reading everything in print and digital, regardless. Some interesting relationships are drawn. First, text size influences support preferences (Mollen, 2016). Texts large ones are preferably read in print; texts can be read in such a way that both in print and in digital. The type of text is also relevant. More serious consumption texts (work and study, notably) tend to lead to print, from fun to digital. These first two factors, size and type of text, should be articulated with whether it is a full text or an excerpt (a chapter, for example, for Study): complete text points to printed matter. Crossing the three elements, an ideal type of text, which would tend to be consumed in print. At the other extreme, second type Ideal, we have a small text section and fun, which would tend to digital. The Crosses of these elements can give rise to a continuous range of possibilities. Access to text is also important. On the other hand, there are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Film Trailer Portfolio Film Trailer Portfolio When the task of creating a film trailer was first put to us, I had several ideas for the movie s context. The first was of a movie in the action genre that dealt with revenge, whilst the other two were in the horror genre. The horror genre appealed to me more, as a low budget film can still have the desired effect by use of different filming techniques, and I wanted to depend more on a psychological aspect. My first idea was to do a film about a poltergeist. I had watched several films such as Poltergeist , but wanted to create a film that relied less on visual effects, something that leant towards the style of Albert Hitchcock, who is still seen today as the Master of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I purchased the Exorcist DVD, which featured a making of documentary. Here I learned of Friedkin s strict attention to detail, and also uncovered some of his secrets that made the film so effective. The film features two main techniques throughout the film that I immediately thought about adding to my own film, those being the use of lighting and sound. The film moves from very bright light scenes, such as the films opening in the Middle East, to the darkness of Georgetown (the films setting), or from the clean and well lit living room of the house, to the black and gloomy mist of the girl s bedroom. Why? The sound was used similarly, from eerily quiet to sudden loudness, one scene that uses this is the sharp cut from the Priest s gentle dream of his mother, to the piercing scream of the little girl. Why The use of restful music as the main soundtrack in The Exorcist added to the loud and quiet technique Friedkin used, to create the sense that everything is calm. I myself began my trailer using this technique, with some gentle music, so that when things begin to go wrong, the impact is more substantial. The voice that was created for the demon in this film was dubbed in synch after the scenes had been shot. I used this technique to dub in the voice of the priest in my trailer, the line I dare not say was recorded by microphone input ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hydraulic Fracturing And Its Effects On The Environment Hydraulic Fracturing Introduction For this assignment I have chosen to look in to a subject that is in the news media spotlight. The subject is the process of hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, we will learn about this process by answering the following questions. First what is hydraulic fracturing and what is the process used for. Then we will look at the actual process of hydraulic fracturing (how it works). Next we will take a closer look at some of the chemical use during the hydraulic fracturing process. Then we discuss the possible environmental impacts if any caused by hydraulic fracturing? Finally, we will look some of the measures being developed to mitigate the possible impact to the environment from hydraulic fracturing. What Is Hydraulic Fracturing And What Is It Used For? The term hydraulic fracturing (AKA fracking) is a common term used in today s media in reference to the oil industry. But what is hydraulic fracturing or fracking? hydraulic fracturing defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a process used to maximize the extraction of underground resources; including oil, natural gas, geothermal energy, and even water (EPA, 2014). Simply put fluid and a mix of material and chemicals are pumped into an already drilled well at high pressure to extract the desired resource (i.e. natural gas) trapped within a solid such as shale rock, we will look at this process and the elements used in it latter in this paper. Athena And Mesopotamia Similarities Located in various places throughout the world, the popular urban cities of Egypt, Mesoamerica, and Mesopotamia used to serve as economic and ideological centers. Although there were many similarities amongst these peculiar places, each city was different when it came to exhibiting intellectual messages and meanings. As we take a closer look into the Amarna and the Medinet Habu Temple of Egypt, one may notice how divided the domestic, economic, and religious spaces were in comparison to other urban areas. On the other hand, while observing Teotihuacan and Tikal of Mesoamerica, we were able to recognize the nature of the sacred city s landscape due to its open plazas and how it legitimized the rule of kings. Lastly, while uncovering the ancient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for the social and political landscape of these two cities, it was not as separated when comparing to other ancient urban areas. Emerging as one of the few competing City states that characterized Mesopotamian civilization, the city of Ur was most known for its wealth and power of the ruling elite. The Ziggurat temple of Ur Nammu was the city s most known place of worship that was dedicated to Nanna, the moon god. • 6. RNA Interference in Biotechnology and Pharmacetics Essay Almost all biology students learn the fundamentals of gene expression, DNA contains information which is transcribed into RNA to create protein. Students however, are not taught of RNA Interference, the biological process where RNA molecules inhibit a gene s expression, RNAi for short. While RNAi is a fairly new discovery, its use in modern biological research is groundbreaking. RNA Interference works by binding Double stranded RNA molecules (siRNA) to a complementary messenger RNA. The enzymes Dicer and Slicer then cleave the chemical bonds which hold the messeger RNA in place and prevent it from delivering protein silencing instructions thus, the term, Gene Silencing. This phenomenon was first discovered by Richard Jorgensen in 1990 when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sanofi plans on using antibodies to target PCSK9 which could lead to an alternative to the commonly used statins drug. Out of the 32 patients in the most recent trial, 24 received a single dose of the RNAi drug. The results showed that the expression of PCSK9 dropped to a staggering average, 70% and a 40% decrease of LDL cholesterol levels. If the PCSK9 inhibition drug deems successful it is still not sure whether the drug will perform well from a business aspect. Another application of RNAi is in Parkinson s disease. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health have successfully used RNA Interference to uncover several genes which possibly represent new therapeutic targets for treating Parkinson s disease. These discoveries may also be useful to other diseases cause by damage to the mitochondria. Researcher Richard Youle explains, we discovered a network of genes that may regulate the disposal of dysfunctional mitochondria, opening the door to new drug targets for Parkinson s disease and other disorders (http://www.nih.gov/news/health/nov2013/ninds 24.htm). On certain occasions of Parkinson s the gene parkin, which tags damaged mitochondria as waste, is mutated. This 3 mutilation leads to excess accumulation of unhealthy mitochondria in the body. Explicit memory contains episodic (events) and semantic (facts). implicit contains procedural (skills) and emotional (emotions). For amnesic patients, the problem lies mostly with explicit memory. There are three main ways to study the differences between the types of memories. The first is the study of anterograde amnesic patients. For example, the study done by Spiers, Maguire and Burgess. They studied 147 cases of anterograde amnesia with damage to the hippocampus. psychological testing proved that all cases had impaired episodic memory and limitedly impaired semantic. This shows that the hippocampus is responsible for episodic memory. To make the conclusion more reliable, another study was done by Vargha and Khadem, with 3 anterograde amnesic patients, and found the same results, except that the semantic memory was completely intact. They found that semantic memory was localized to the cortices underlying the hippocampus. Another way of studying the differences between the two is by studying retrograde amnesic patients. a retrograde amnesic patient known as KC was studied to find that the damage to his hippocampus impaired his episodic memory, but his semantic memory was still intact. The study of amnesic patients is done in psychology to study the relations between the physiology and cognition, because the damage to the brain can be seen easily, ... Airing on November 11th, 1960 and running at 25 minutes and 14 seconds, Eye of the Beholder made a dramatic impact on viewers due to its intensely eerie nature and topsy turvy world. The doctor then stands up and heads towards the window, now facing the light. The nurse now becomes a metaphor for society and how most people think, and him turning her back towards her and facing the light shows him beginning to turn his back on society and starting to question and reject it, thus becoming enlightened. Every time the doctor starts to critically think out loud, the camera goes from a medium shot to a medium close up of the back of his head. He then begins to talk about how he sees Janet s real face or her actual self. This scene was after Janet broke down to the doctor, questioning who says what is attractive and normal, and saying a powerful quote This state is not God. This clearly affected the doctor and got him thinking and realizing that she is a human being. Earlier in this scene, the nurse refers to Janet as Patient 307 rather than her own name. This shows how society can easily dehumanize people when we do not deem them functioning members of society, for there is nothing more demeaning then being referred to as a number as we have seen in terrible times such as the Holocaust referring to the concentration camp members. The nurse, remaining in the dark, says It s easier for me to think of her as human when her face is covered up . When the doctor explains that he saw her real face, the face of a real self, it s a good face, it s a human face It shows that he now sees her as a person rather than just a case, sadly how ... If every human being is given equal opportunities then the outcome after those opportunities were presented, whether it was success of failure, fully rests upon the individual s shoulders. In case of failure, the government or any other individual would not be held accountable. Freedom is another core value that should be given precedence over all other values and beliefs because it is a mode or a state where an individual is free to speak, act and seek contentment without the restraint of an outside force. It gives one the notion that anything and everything is possible. It also encourages free and authentic thought which is fundamental for the progression of a society. People should be given the freedom to make their own choices and follow them through without any reluctance or fear that they will be penalized. Of course, the freedom of thought and expression also comes with a condition, which is, that those thoughts and expressions should not become a nuisance for others. The Metrics Of English Literature The Metrics of English Candidate Number: 27090222 School Number: 84 The Metrics of English Fred: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to this lovely evening in the city of London in the world renowned Globe Theatre. Today we are joined by two guests, Sylvia Miller and Joseph Johnson and I am your host, Fred Phillips. Both our guests having many years of linguistics and literature experience will analyse several texts that belong to different stages of the English language and compare their ideas. Why may you ask? To discuss the points of comparison between linguistics and the aesthetic analysis of English literature and discover the underlying oral similarities of our language Sylvia Miller is renowned for her understanding and interpretation of the aesthetic aspects of English literature throughout the periods Old English to the Modern English, ranging from 800 A.D, all the way to the twentieth century. Sylvia argues that the language is based on entertainment and that the enjoyment of the text lies in bringing out the beauty of the language and the craftsmanship of the author. And, as for Joseph Johnson, his insight and deconstruction of text and the English language through linguistics is able to magnify the origins of the text and how its historical context would have affected the language and style of writing. With this analysis, text and language becomes a historical timeline that contains the foundations of Modern English. With these two individuals tonight, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This could lead to negative thoughts and unproductivity of any task at hand. However, one of the solutions discovered to help with the depressing thoughts and moods was through dreaming at night. According a study performed by Rosalind Cartwright, the study showed that 72% of the subjects had less depression after dreaming (Chatterjee). How was this possible? There was a decreased development of depression while moods changed throughout the night. This could be explained by experiencing a pleasant dream which causes a release of pleasure neurotransmitters such as serotonin or dopamine. Pleasant dreams could be anything from superpowers related to even sexual. Another interesting thing about dreams, it can help someone find a problem that is bothering them through nightmares or dream adventures. Therefore, an explication of a dream can lead to understanding personality dynamics and promote behavioral change (Merced 183). The typical upper course of a river is narrow in width, shallow in depth and slow in velocity. The load size is very large and therefore, less of it. The bank gradients are steep and the discharge levels are low. All these features gradually change as the river flows downstream. This is shown in figure 2 The location chosen for study is The River Stinchar and its tributaries which are located in South Ayrshire and flow south west from the Galloway Forest Park and were chosen due to a previous visit to the area. At 15 years old, she has learned to identify herself as being both Ecuadorian and American and being proud of both parts of her, which wasn t so easy for her. ABSTRACT Oral controlled release and site specific drug delivery system has been of great interest in pharmaceutical field to achieve improved therapeutic advantage. Drug absorption in the gastrointestinal tract is a highly variable procedure and prolonging gastric retention of the dosage form extends the time for drug absorption. Gastro retentive drug delivery system is one of such novel approaches to prolong gastric residence time, thereby targeting site specific drug release in the stomach for local or systemic effects. This approach is useful particularly for the drugs which have narrow absorption window in the upper part of gastro intestinal tract. Various approaches of gastro retentive drug delivery system, such as floating and non floating, have been discussed in this review. The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir Essay The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir In the chapter of her book The Second Sex entitled the Woman in Love, Simone de Beauvoir characterizes the romantic ideal of the relationship with a man as a woman s purpose as a form of self deception (translated here as bad faith ). The self deception de Beauvoir describes is based in the thesis of The Second Sex. This is the idea that women have been deceived into believing that they are second class humans. This is the same mindset that Sartre applies to the anti Semite the refusal to consider the complexity of the world in favor of a system that provides easy answers to all life s questions. Only, unlike the anti Semite, the woman is turning her hatred inward; does she hate herself because she fears freedom or because she feels she is not worthy of it? De Beauvoir seems to believe that fear is the primary cause for this willing dependency. She cites the psychoanalytic view that women s obsession with love does not comes from a desire for men at all, but from a desire to return to the secure dependency of childhood. This explains the lifelong refuge some women take in infantile ( cute ) behavior and appearance, but psychoanalytic explanations for human behavior have proven to be far less than perfect, and a woman s self worth (or, in this case, lack thereof) has far more complex roots than a Freudian theorem. What is sure is that the female ideal of love assumes a place of greater importance in the psyche than the libido alone. The quest for absolute communion with the beloved assumes a mystical element that is similar in many ways to religious devotion, as de Beauvoir explains. (The lack of belief in God makes this attitude even more contemptible from an existentialist point of view.)
