Bowling For Columbine And Koyaanisqatsi
The purpose of Bowling for Columbine and Koyaanisqatsi is not radically different, both directors are
attempting to make an argument. In Bowling for columbine, Michael Moore is constructing an
argument about the culture in some regions of the United States that are vulnerable to gun violence. To
accomplish this he weaves together first person accounts from people responding to his questions on
the issue and presents images that he wants the audience to connect with what they are seeing to create
a definitive narrative perspective. In Koyaanisqatsi the director is arguing that the current modes of
existence are inherently destructive for both nature and ourselves. The composition of the film is
unique in that there is no spoken word and instead the director uses composition, speed, editing and
music to create a musical symphony to make his point.
Michael Moore s documentary has a very clear point to make. Moore will persist in asking until he
gets the answer he must sense is waiting for him. For example, when he is talking to a friend of the
columbine shooter, he continues asking him about why the school would have thought that he would
have been likely to create violence. He asks 3 or four times to make sure that he gets the answer he is
looking for. Michael Moore allows his subjects to speak, but he is the one forming the questions.
Similarly, he chooses what will be shown and in what order so as to create associations and meaning
from the raw images as

Physics of Stars Essay examples
Stars are phenomenal glowing spheres that everyone has noticed in the night sky. Long ago they were
poorly understood. Today, with the help from astronomers, physicists, and other space scientists, we
have discovered a large amount of information about stars.
These huge balls of flaming gas have many different ranges of characteristics. We can observe the
many fascinating colors that may be displayed from stars. Some of them are not stars themselves, but
the trillions of fragments left behind after they explode into supernova (Moreau, 2000).
There is a huge variation in sizes of stars as well. They range from super giants to small dwarfs. Most
often their sizes correlate to their age or the particular cycle they are beginning to ... Show more

These two diagrams show the action of subatomic particles smashing into each other creating other
elements and energy as a byproduct. Both of these pictures demonstrate the occurrence between the
most common elements, hydrogen and helium, undergoing fusion.
Sometimes when dealing with mathematical descriptions of specific phenomenon concerning stars the
complexity may become intense. However, we will explore common occurrences and changes of stars
that can be described by simple mathematical relationships.
One primary occurrence between stars that are approaching their later stages is a reduction in their
radius. This occurs when elements such as hydrogen and helium in the center of the star change into
gaseous iron from electron exchanges and other processes. Eventually the star becomes very dense
and the radius of the star is reduced. By the conservation of angular momentum in this case, the
velocity must increase due to the decreased radius (Kippenhahn, 194 95). Lets do a calculation to
show this.
By the conservation of angular momentum we get this equation: Ii wi = If wf, where Ii is the initial
moment of inertia, wi is the initial angular speed, and If and wf are the final products of what I just
listed. The moment of inertia of a sphere is (2/5)mR^2, where m is the mass and R is the radius.
Plugging these into the equation Ii wi = If wf, we get, (2/5)mRi^2 wi = (2/5)mRf^2 wf.

Soundcloud In The Movie Industry
Everywhere people look, there is a screen. Whether it s a laptop, television, phone, tablet, or a cinema,
screens encompass society. Additionally, the content we watch on these devices is growing at a
prolific rate. This is due to easy access of programs, like Final Cut, Premiere Pro, and iMovie, that
allow basically anyone to make their own video or movie. Some say that this ability to produce
movies easier than ever before poses a threat to the integrity of the movie industry, claiming streaming
sites, legitimate or otherwise, are shifting people away from the theater and moving them toward
home entertainment. However, I believe this change in film production is only creating more sub
genres of film, and not actually degrading Cinema s good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soundcloud is a relatively new music streaming site that enables up and coming rappers to easily
release their content to a large audience. Many rappers, now referred to as soundcloud rappers, use
this site to increase their chances of stardom in an otherwise competitive enterprise. Artists such as Lil
Yachty, XXX Tentacion, Lil Pump, Lil Uzi Vert, and Jay Critch, all became famous by utilizing the
streaming sites fan base to gain followers. This rise in Soundcloud rappers created a subgenre of hip
hop music, known as soundcloud rap, without degrading the integrity of hip hop. While this subgenre
has increased in popularity in the past year significantly, artists that represent the gems of hip hop, like
Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, J Cole, Jay Z, and Schoolboy Q, all still play a major role in
mainstream hip hop, maintaining the fundamentals of genre. In addition, many of these notably artist
of the hip hop industry use their celebrity status to bolster the growth of the Soundcloud rappers. For
Instance, Chance the Rapper, who won three awards at the 59th Grammy Award, promoted the use of
free music to enable new artists to show their talent to a large audience, and also supported
Soundcloud when their finances were limited. Ultimately, when easy access to recording and releasing

I. How to Perform a Sound Experiment
There is a guideline proposed by the UK Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) that defines
some rules for the handling of digital evidence [10]. The device must be kept separate from the
network, and the investigation process should be properly planned. The functionality of the tool or
software must be known also for having a secure wireless connection with device in order not to
delete any information while running it [4]. A dummyrun approach can be used with same type of
device under investigation. The device must be seized and analyzed by well trained persons. In
Subscriber Identity Module Analysis law enforcement collects the network and user data through
various types of SIM. Integrated Circuit Card ID (ICCID, International Mobile Subscriber Identity
(IMSI), Mobile Country Code (MCC), Mobile Network Code (MNC), Mobile Station International
Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN) and Abbreviated Dialing Numbers (ADN) analysis is
performed on SIM. Using forensics software and sophisticated tools which can retrieve data logically
or directly from a mobile device can result in valuable evidence. The growing industry of mobile
phones is creating a challenge for forensics investigators to be able to extract evidence at all even
when using different tools. Forensics tools should be developed with advancement in technology.

Alienation Of The Individual From Society
Alienation is a word that reflects feelings of isolation and loneliness. The feelings of alienation can be
very depressing as the individual feels he/she is unwanted and does not belong to the place or society
where they are currently living in. It is seen as if a person cannot provide for another or does not
appear as the rest, they do not have any value. The two main characters such as Gregor within The
Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and Tessie within The Lottery by Shirley Jackson both demonstrate
the issue of alienation of the individual from society. It is expressed within both readings that as
individuals we are often aliened by others although influence of the individual in relation to the
communities around them many individuals cannot exist within society as a free thinking, autonomous
person. Within The Lottery , the author Shirley Jackson emphasizes on the idea of the lottery where a
list of names from each member of the household in each family were put into a black box and one
name would be selected at random. The following name selected would be stoned to death by the
villagers including their family. This was a tradition followed by the villagers at end of the warm
season to show a sacrifice to ensure wealth, crops, and prosperity within the future. Some
communities feel alienated because of the repression or the policies of the governments in place.
Traditions are usually passed down from previous generations due to the people being

Your Inner Fish Book Review

this, Shubin and his colleagues look at the time in the middle of this, 375 million years ago (10). In
2004, they give it another try, after failed previous tries (21). What gradually emerges from the rocks
they searched for in the bottom of the quarry is an intermediate right between fish and land animals,

Informative Essay On John Deere Tractors
I m going to be telling about how people found out about John Deere Tractors.
Everyone that has a yard to mow or ever drove past a farm knows what a John Deere tractor looks
like. You don t have to be a farmer to recognize the green tractor with the yellow lettering as a John
Deere. These tractors are so well built and designed that television commercials say Nothing runs like
a Deere . However, few of us may know the life story behind the man John Deere who invented the
design of the simple farm plow and in doing so started a company that would create farm products
used and recognized throughout the globe.
I m going to be telling how John Deere Lived.
John Deere was born on February 4, 1804 in Vermont. His parents William and Sarah Deere. They
were tailors that had immigrated to Vermont from England. Life was hard for the Deere family when
their blacksmith business slowed in 1808. John s dad took a trip back to his home country in hopes of
finding a better life for his family. Unfortunately, Mr. Deere did not return from England and no one
ever found out what happened to him. John was only four years old . As a young boy, John spent a lot
of time outside a blacksmith shop in his hometown dreaming that he would one day become a
blacksmith. At the age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

experiment with other farm tools such as the steam plow, cultivators, planters, and a grain drill. (Just
like his re designed steel plow these additional tools became important to farmers.) On each of the
tools, the name John Deere stood out boldly. Through hard work and imagination, the company being

HIDS are also somewhat cost effective in comparison to other IDS types since they are most
commonly software based on not a hardware appliance. Unfortunately, there are a number of
disadvantages to HIDS, as well. The most significant problem with HIDS is that the majority are
software based and operate on the system itself. What this can lead to is controlling the HIDS if the
system becomes entirely compromised. HIDS can also be difficult to manage if spread across many
systems without an efficient administration plan in place. Finally, HIDS use the same resources the
server it resides on uses. Depending on the activity of the server, a HIDS can be quite a burden to an
already busy system. This can lead to bottlenecks, costly hardware upgrades, and other technical
issues (Shimonski, 2004, para. 6). Network based IDS Network based IDS, or NIDS, are normally
hardware based devices (or dedicated systems) that reside at critical points of the network capturing
all incoming (and sometime outgoing and localized) packet traffic and analyzing it for suspicious
patterns in accordance with the signature or rule database. Specifically, NIDS capture IP

The Discretionary Powers of the Criminal Justice System of...
T he discretionary powers of the Criminal Justice system of the United States
By Jonell Fergsuon
In the Criminal justice system the police, the prosecutors and corrections are afforded discretion with
regard to enforcing and interpreting the law. Here I will discuss both pros and cons with regards to the
fair administration of justice in the United States.
The Police
The police are afforded a wide range of discretional powers, covering things from deciding whether or
to arrest someone to determining disciplinary actions in the workplace. With regards to deciding to
arrest someone, I can see many reasons why this discretion is necessary. For example the police come
across two young girls in a park smoking marijuana.
Now the law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when responding to scenarios of underage drinking and assault, it was
New South Wales police who were more likely to divert young offenders. There were very few
significant relationships between attitudes and behavior when examining either group, with significant
results possibly being a side effect of large sample sizes. Further there were few significant
relationships when considering demographic or situational variables.
However, in an exploration of police personality, through cluster analysis, evidence was found for
different typologies , or resonances, of police. The results indicate that police are not an homogenous
group. In addition, quite complex relationships between measures of police behavior and individual
difference were found within the resonances, with effect sizes showing moderate results. The findings
support the need to investigate further personality typologies and extend them to the examination of
attitude behavior relationships. In addition, research into the use of an attitudinal measure, such as
discretionary ideology, as an alternative to measuring behavior could be expanded.
Moreover, broadening of the research into additional areas of the juvenile justice systems, such as
legal representatives, magistrates, and youth detention centre officers, would provide further insight
into the

Subsequently, FASB became a supporter of improved international practices and of one set of
standards to be used globally. The IASB and FASB met in Norwalk, Connecticut, on September 18,
2002 to acknowledge their undertaking to create a high quality, compatible accounting standards that
could be used for both domestic and cross border financial reporting which is known as the Norwalk
Agreement [ (Business Wire, 2002) ]. At this meeting, both parties agreed to craft a congruent
financial reporting practice as quickly as possible and to coordinate their impending prospectus to
ensure that compatibility would be sustained. To preserve compatibility, the IASB and the FASB listed
the following as a high priority: * Remove distinct disparities between U.S. GAAP and the IFRS as a
short term project. * Remove the discrepancies between the IFRSs and U.S. GAAP that will continue
until January 5, 2005, which would happen with the harmonization of their future work programs. *
Cooperative projects would continue with growth. * Encourage individual interpretations to organize
their activities. The board also set a time limit for the implementation to be completed by January 1,
2005. With the Convergence Project begun, both boards are working to organize an integrated
accounting standard. The fulfillment of this will happen in short term projects and realistic goals [

is estimated that 46.8 million people are diagnosed and living with dementia. This figure is expected
to double by 2030 reaching 74.7 million.(sources). As indicated by research, dementia incidence
increases substantially with ages. Dementia is Prevalence in over the ages of sixty and varies across
the world, from 8.7% in North Africa and the Middle East to 4.6% in Central Europe. In 2015, there
was 4.9 million new diagnose dementia cases of which 2.5 million (25%) in Europe, 1.7 million
(18%) in the Americas, 49% of the total in Asia, and 0.8 million (8%) in Africa. It has been suggested;
these figures would double with most of those diagnosed coming from the developing nations (Ferri et

The Collapse Of The Russian Monarchy
Tsar Nicholas II is thought to be personally responsible for the collapse of the Russian Monarchy. His
nature wasn t well suited for the role he held therefore he was an incompetent leader. Russia was
undergoing many changes and was in early stages of industrialization. This was followed by an
embarrassing string of defeats of which the Tsar was badly prepared. His unsuccessful involvement in
the First World War added to the disappointment in the government s incompetence and corruption.
There were many opportunities for Russia to modernize but this would require political change, which
the Tsar was unwilling to do. Nicholas had many opportunities throughout his reign to reform, but
destroyed his last chance of survival.
Nicholas II was born on May 18, 1868 in Pushkin, Russia. Nicholas inherited the throne when his
father Alexander III died in 1894. Nicholas ascended the throne at the age of 26. He ruled an empire
covering about one sixth of the Earth s land area. Nicholas as tsar was autocrat of all Russia s , and
saw himself as chosen by God to fill the role. His empire was at peace and in the early stages of
industrialization, ranked among the worlds great powers. Nicholas believed it was his duty to continue

The Financial Performance Of Tesco Plc
In this report I will be analysing and evaluating the financial performance of Tesco PLC over the past
5 years (2010 to 2014).
Background Company Information
Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen, he originally started up his business as a market stall
selling surplus groceries in the East End of London. The company is now not only a grocery store but
also a general merchandise retailer, selling clothes, furniture, electrical items and wide range of other
products and services including Tesco Bank, Tesco Mobile, and Blinkbox video on demand service.
Tesco currently operates in 12 countries around the world, employ over 500,000 people and serve tens
of millions of customers every week both in store and online.
Tesco became a private limited company in 1932 and in 1947 Tesco Stores (Holdings) PLC floated on
the stock exchange with a share price of 25p per share. Tesco were interested in what their customers
buying habits were in order to try and evolve their company so they decided to closely watch
customers behaviour and this led to the introduction of the Clubcard scheme in 1995 and a banking
service in 1997. This allowed them to collect customer data and personalise their discounts in
response to what they bought and this made them the UK s top supermarket. Aggressive negotiation
with suppliers helped them grow their market share from a mere 7% in 1971 to 31% in 2007 making

Summary On Lamentation Of Christ
The title of the painting is The Lamentation of Christ or Mourning of Christ . Lamentation is religious
painting which is 7 7 by 7 9 and can be seen at Arena chapel in Padua. The medium used in this
painting is fresco, created by Giotto in 1305. 2. This is the very powerful painting where we see Jesus
s dead body surrounded by his families, friends and people who loves him. Jesus body is removed
from the cross and is carefully and gently held by his loved ones. There are numerous people around
Christ, some are sitting, and some are standing. There are five figures who held Jesus body. There are
three females which are wearing long gowns and have halo around their head. Then we have other two
figures which have their back towards us, so we can t identify if they are males or female figure. Jesus
body is not touching the ground. The female figure who is cradles around Jesus is more likely his

Judges Are Judges Vulnerable To Biases
Even though it is hard for people to admit, judges can fall prey to biases. After several studies,
researchers use the term cognitive biases to categorize the group of decision errors that can be made
by judges. Researchers have found that judges appear to be similar to juries in their inability to
disregard legally prejudicial and impermissible facts when deciding on a verdict. Three types of
cognitive biases or illusions have been identified as those which trail judges are most vulnerable.
These include anchoring, hindsight bias, and egocentric biases. These will all be explained further,
including examples. The first type of bias is anchoring, which is very common among civil cases. It
involves giving excessive weight to the initial starting value, the ... Show more content on

This is the tendency to change a previous judgment or decision in the direction of newly provided
information. This is one of the most common errors in everyday human judgement and prediction.
Legal scholars have noted that it is rare to expect people to predict the outcome of past events in real
life. However, people in law are asked to make the type of judgment quite often. Since courts usually
evaluate events after they have happened, judges are extremely vulnerable to hindsight bias.
Researchers note that judges could not help but rely on information that was not available before a
relevant event took place, but that later became available. The susceptibility to hindsight bias is
troubling because judges are frequently expected to suppress their knowledge of some set of facts
before making decisions. An example of this bias can be seen from exactly this. Judges are to ignore
their knowledge of the outcome of a police search for purposes of determining whether the officers
had probable cause to conduct said search. If the evidence found during the search was damning, this
could prove to be incredibly difficult for the judge to write off when making their

Reflection In My Life
Over the course of this semester me and our group success have participated in a variety of activities
coordinated by the Counselor Mrs. Warren which touch on topics oriented around college, careers, and
ourselves as people. These activities taught us life skills that we can apply in our life. For example,
some of the activities included learning to do or determine our SMART goals, long term goals,
skills/strengths, values and making decisions based on them, pathways to our potential
career/education. Therefore, what we learned as a group with Mrs. Warren was how to apply those life
skills taught in everyday life, How we would reach point A to point B, and learn more about ourselves
as people.
Throughout my life I have always felt like I knew myself, but until recently I have never, truly known
myself. These traits are one of my utmost important values to me in the sense that they are what I do
my best to live by them. My five main values are creativity, compassion, empathy, love, and wisdom. I
value creativity since through that I am able to express myself. Compassion is important to me being

Saudi Arabian Women And The Obstacles
Abstract
THE FOCUS OF THIS PAPER WILL BE ON SAUDI ARABIAN WOMEN AND THE
OBSTACLES THEY MUST OVERCOME TO ACCESS HEALTHCARE. WHAT MANY BELIEVE
TO BE SHARIAH LAW CONCERNING WOMEN S RIGHTS OF HEALTHCARE IS ACTUALLY
BASED MORE ON TRADITION AND CUSTOM RATHER THAN LAW. UNFORTUNATELY,
MANY PEOPLE IN SAUDI ARABIAARE UNAWARE OF THIS AND STILL ABIDE BY THESE
TRADITIONS AS IF THEY ARE LAWS. THESE PEOPLE INCLUDE MEN AND WOMEN, AND
MANY HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS. IN SAUDI ARABIA, MOST OF THE POPULATION IS
ULTRA CONSERVATIVE, THEREFORE, SEEKING TREATMENT FOR REPORDUCTIVE

In September 2013, a male Saudi cleric, Sheikh Saleh Al Loheidan, claimed that women who drive
will have reproductive issues and their babies will be born with clinical problems (Jamjoom, 2013).
This is believed to be in response to a movement protesting the laws against women driving. The fact
that women are banned from driving themselves where they need to go hinders the ability to get to
medical appointments without a chaperone, or walking. On October 26, 2013, a demonstration was
planned for women activists to post video of themselves driving to protest the ban. Women are serving
jail time for violating these laws (Jamjoom, 2013).
As is custom, women must be accompanied by a male chaperone from her family, such as, her
husband, father, brother, or son. This is for the women s protection. Where this becomes problematic
in the healthcare setting is during the patient interview and exam. In 1993, a physician from Canada,
Stephen N. Sullivan, MD, FRCPC, went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to practice medicine and many of the
difficulties he faced are still relevant today. Dr. Sullivan was unable to obtain a health history from the
female patient. The history was usually given by one or more family members who were present as
her guardian. Dr. Sullivan was unable to perform a full assessment on his female patients due to the
veils covering their faces. The doctor made a diagnosis of thyrotoxicosis from reviewing a patient s
chart prior to an endoscopy. The

Stephen Crane s Poem War Is Kind
Prompt: How does Stephen Crane s poem, War is Kind convey universal themes reflected in Civil War
literature? Universal themes help convey Stephen Crane s Poem, War is KInd . These themes are
common among civil war litatureare. Crane uses Warfare, Life at home, and Patriotism. He uses these
three themes because they can cover what happened and how people felt during the wars. There is also
an ironic tone to the poem because it is difficult to understand war being kind in any way. War is Kind
is a poem that focuses on the loss of three women who have lost their lover, father. And son in the war.
This expresses the the loss and sorrow that can come from a war. The speaker in the poem used irony

Multiple Sclerosis Is A Prolonged, Progressive, Wasting...
Multiple sclerosis is a prolonged, progressive, wasting disorder of the Central Nervous System
categorized by distributed demyelination of nerve fibers of the brain and spinal cord. The onset of MS
is usually between 20 and 50 years of age, although it can occur in young teens and much older adults.
Women are affected two of three times more often than men. (Lewis, Dirksen, Heitkemper, Bucher,
Camera, 2014, p. 1428) MS is five times more dominant in temperate climates such as those found in
the northern United States, Canada, and Europe, as linked to tropical regions. Relocation from one
geographic area to another may modify a person s risk of developing multiple sclerosis. Immigrants
and their offspring tend to take on the risk level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1432). According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (2014), MS happens to families, not just
to individuals. When a person is diagnosed with MS, there is immediate impact on all who love them.
Family members may experience similar emotions to the person with MS as they adapt to MS in their
lives fear, guilt, anger, denial, grief, anxiety . The exact cause of MS is unknown. However, its
pathogenesis is associated with irregular immune responses against CNS antigens, interference of the
blood brain barrier (BBB) and trans endothelial migration of activated leukocytes, as well as
chemokines and cytokines, from peripheral circulation to the CNS. In active disease, there appears to
be ongoing inflammatory as well as neurodegenerative processes within the CNS atmosphere. The
triggering event for the first attack of MS remains projected. It is assumed that genetic and
environmental factors are involved in the progress of MS. (Borazanci, 2009, p. 2) Potential
precipitating factors include infection, smoking, physical injury, emotional stress, excessive fatigue,
pregnancy, and poor state of health. The role of triggering factors such exposure to pathogenic agents
is controversial. The association with multiple sclerosis is possibly random and there probably is no
cause and effect relationship. (Lewis, Dirksen, Heitkemper, Bucher, Camera, 2014, p. 1428)

The Government In The Giver s Society
The government in the fictional movie The Giver is viewed as a corrupt nation by the main characters,
Jonas and the Giver; however, in the real world, the Gaza Strip is even more of an unethical dystopian
society due to government control, food supply, and the loss of lives.
Phillip Noyce used his directorial skills to show the horror it is to live in the Communities of The
Giver s society. It is portrayed to be a heinous society that is under the control of the Chief Elders. The
civilians are under the belief that nothing existed beyond the Communities. The government protects

The Gaza Strip was put into a state of distraught by the Israeli imposed blockade against the
Palestinian territory. Israel s government has had control over the Gaza Strip ever since its victory
back in 1967. Ruth Eglash constructed interviews with both Palestinians and Israelis to ask the simple
question, is Gaza still occupied? It came to a conclusion, that there is proof and evidence that Gaza is
still under the control of Israel, even if people say otherwise. One of her interviewees, Raji Sourani,
stated, They are trying to highlight the gravity of the situation [in Gaza], where 65 percent of the
people are unemployed, 90 percent live under the poverty line, 85 percent depend on [the United
Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East] (Eglash, Does Israel...).
The truth is that Israel is causing Gaza to crumble and fall by creating the blockade against them. If
Gaza was not under the harsh restrictions it is, the economy would not have dropped to these rates.
Furthermore, under the rule of Israel the residents of Gaza have gone hungry multiple times. With no
clean water supply and scarce food sources there is nothing else to do but wait and hope for a chance

The Consequences Of Revenge In Rita Hayworth And The...
A child hits someone; they hit them back. An individual deceives someone; they seek retaliation.
While growing up as individuals in society, the phrase Two wrongs do not make a right is well known.
The phrase is a lesson. It means because someone does something wrong towards another individual it
is not justified to do something retaliate. As human beings, the motive behind retaliation is revenge,
which is the reaction behind every negative outcome towards another person. In life, behind every
action that is made, a consequence follows. People in society must take the negativity that is thrown
towards them, and turn it into positivity. The novel Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption
shows many instances why two wrongs do not make a right. For instance, all heinous crimes in the
novel are committed for the sake of retaliation. In general, every action that is made can often be
justified; however, a positive outcome is not always guaranteed. Growing up, people hear [G]et over it
and move on or let bygones be bygones . . . (Ford 285). Sometimes in life, Turning the other cheek is
another way of avoiding problems so they will not cause a conflict with another individual. Negative
conflicts would cause two wrongs to be made that could result in a hurtful outcome. For example,
when a person does wrong the negative effect will follow. Although some may disagree, others may
think that two wrongs do make a right: An act, which otherwise would be wrong, can be right when
performed in the presence of, or in response to another act committed by an individual towards
another. . . It may even be the case that two acts, each of which would be wrong in isolation, are both
rendered permissible by the presence of the other. (Kavka 61) Each person is in control of their actions
in life. Although conscience may make each individuals actions seem honorable, the truth is they
might be.

Popular Culture From Musicals Like Wicked With Its Popular...
Popularity is one of the most prevalent themes in adolescents experience in school and social
development. It shapes how they interact with peers, adults, and their selves. This theme is explored
and emphasized in popular culture from musicals like Wicked with its popular song titled Popular to
television shows like Sabrina the teenage witch, Glee, 90210, etc. How popular an adolescent is
defines who they are, in that it shapes where they stand amongst peers and their self perception of
their self value. Psychological research and theories support much of the popular culture perceptions
and beliefs about popularity. Original Studies Reasoning For Scientific Adaptation Away From Our
Original Perception Of Popularity Popularity is one of the most commonly studied peer interaction
phenomenon. Initially these studies assigned participants to one of the following standard sociometric
categories: popular, rejected, neglected, average, and controversial. These studies faded away for two
main reasons. The first is that this model neglected to take the school structure into consideration
when studying popularity. It ignored that due to the transition between classes starting in middle
school students no longer have a small and stable social component that social interactions and
sociometric status could be based on. The second is that popularity depends on the adolescents
perception of popularity rather than how well liked an adolescent is. Popularity heavily depends on the

Pan Africanism For Beginners Essay
Sid Lemelle hoped for his book, Pan Africanism for Beginners, to be a comprehensive guide to the
complex concept of Pan Africanism. Lemelle begins the book by broadly defining Pan Africanism to
mean the inclusion of all people of African ancestry living in continental Africa and throughout the
world. This definition sets the foundation for his analysis of Pan Africanism. Pan Africanism for
Beginners explores the major leaders and events associated with Pan African sentiments
chronologically. The exploration begins with the early pioneers of Pan Africanism (20) such as Prince
Hall, Paul Cuffe, Dr. Martin R. Delany, and Fredrick Douglass. While this was an early stage of Pan
Africanism, conflicting views on how to deal the issues of racism and oppression. Prince Hall and
Paul Cuffe believed in the emigration of blacks to Africa. However, Dr. Delany and Frederick
Douglass argued against emigration. Instead, they believed that the United States was their home, and
that they should remain (25). Lemelle notes that Dr. Delany later changed his attributes, however it is
unclear if he changes his views from support of emigration to opposition to emigration or vice versa.
This is not a major weakness; however, it did confuse me as a reader attempting to understand the
beginnings of Pan Africanism. One of the initial major Pan African events Lemelle introduced was the
creation of Sierra Leone s Province of Freedom along with the founding of Liberia. These two ex

Minor Characters In Romeo And Juliet
In the traumatic play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the tragic result is and is not the
responsibility of the minor characters. The minor characters are certainly not responsible because
Romeo and Juliet killed themselves with their own free will, and none of the minor characters were
involved in this wistful event. As well as this, fate also had a significant role in guiding their
relationship to not work out as it caused many events to inevitably happen. However, I believe that
Friar Lawrence is accountable for part of the tragedy, as he did not do his best or go out of his way, to
ensure that his plan for Romeo and Juliet would work out. Firstly, Romeo and Juliet ended their lives
with their own free will, and no one encouraged or guided them to do so. An example is when Juliet
was asleep in the tomb and Romeo assumed she had died. Romeo quotes, Is crimson in thy lips and in
thy cheeks, and death s pale flag is not advancèd there. This hence shows that Romeo had an instinct
that Juliet was not dead and he thoroughly noticed all the signs of a living and healthy person;
however did not look deeper or infer profoundly. At this point, Romeo drunk the poison because he
concluded that his life was not worth living unless Juliet was in it. This shows how Romeo ended his
life himself without the influence of any minor characters. Another example is when Juliet stabs
herself with the dagger. Juliet quotes, Yea, noise, then I ll be brief; O, happy dagger! This is thy
sheath; three rest, and let me die. This also shows that Juliet killed herself with no encouragement
from minor characters and stabbed herself with her own doing. Juliet was too in love with the idea of
love, as she also thought she did not have a purpose without Romeo. Juliet had so much more to live
for and none of the minor characters expressed to Juliet, that Romeo was all she had. These two
examples intensively confirm how it was undoubtedly, not the minor characters fault and it conveys
how they are not responsible for the disastrous and devastating deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Moreover,
fate had a notable significance in regarding the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Fate led on many events
that were destined to happen, with

Tenant Farmers in Ireland and their Struggle to Survive
Ireland 1845, food was suddenly scarce, money was hard to earn, and what little was earned was
immediately spent for survival. The people of Ireland had grown up used to missing meals due to crop
failure. However, previous crop failures couldn t compare to the potato famine of 1845. For the next
five years, the blight destroyed nearly all the potato crops and killed many Irish. About one million
people died during this time in Ireland because of the starvation and disease. About two million fled
the lands of Ireland in hopes of escaping the starvation, disease, death, and poverty that had taken over
Ireland since the famine. The tenant farmers, who suffered would farm land that belonged to the
absentee landlords. They would grow many crops, most of which were very successful. They were
only allowed to keep the potato crops for their own; the rest of the crops would be harvested and
exported to England. The absentee landlords lived like kings while the tenant farmers were forced to
sell everything they owned so they could have money to purchase food to stay alive. When they ran
out of things to sell they were then forced to scavenge for food scraps just to escape death for a while
longer. The starvation and struggle of the Irish tenant farmers could have been avoided if the absentee
landlords hadn t been so greedy with collecting the rent. England could have come to the aid of the
Irish people sooner than they did if they weren t so interested in staying true to their

The Apostles Research Paper
The apostles are the twelve followers that Jesus selected early on in his ministry. They were chosen to
spread the Gospel after the death of Jesus Christ. These men were ordinary people that God used in
marvelous ways. These men called us to follow Jesus Christ. After the Death of Jesus the spread the
word of God to places as far as Rome. These men were a crucial part in the spreading of Christianity.
When Jesus was alive they were called the twelve disciples because disciple means follower. After
Jesus death the twelve disciples were referred to as the twelve disciples
These men were Simon who Jesus named Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew,
Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, Simon, Judas and Judas Iscariot. Simon Peter was from Bethsaida
and he was one of Jesus first disciples. St. Peter was also the first Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.
Andrew was Peter s brother and he was crucified on an X shaped cross. James was a fisherman with
Peter and John. He was one of Jesus closest disciples, and he was martyr. John the brother of James

Observation Report On Coaching Observation
Intro
For the coaching observation project I observed the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Urban
Meyer. I watched him on TV when Ohio State played Penn State. The reason I selected Urban Meyer
to do my coaching observation is because he is the coach I decided to model my coaching philosophy
after. The reason I chose this game specifically is because this is a very important game and I want to
see how he handles his team in high pressure situations.
Review
1. Coaching style used or observed
A coaching style is the specific way a coach leads his team. The coaching style Urban Meyer used was
a laissez faire type coach. A laissez faire type coached is defined as a leader who makes as few
decisions as possible. During the weeks prior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His non verbal communication was just his facial expressions that his players and assistant coaches
can see. His team was losing for most of the game and you could tell he was not happy. Penn State
returned the opening kick off and he looked disappointed, but he kind of kept his composure. Later in
the 2nd quarter during another kick return that was returned pretty far by Penn State his anger was a
little more visible as he was yelling and appeared very angry. Later once Ohio State started to play
better you could see his attitude change and he got happier. I m not sure if his negative attitude made
his team play worse, it is just something to think about whenever I am a head coach.
3. Reinforcement techniques
Reinforcement techniques are used to increase or decrease a behavior. During a game, especially on
the stage that Urban Meyer is coaching, it is important for his players to play well. Some techniques
that Urban Meyer used to reinforce his players during the game I observed were negative discipline.
His special teams were struggling a lot, especially his kickoff team. They were playing so bad that he
decided to remove multiple players from it and add starters from other positions onto the kick off team
to try and have better success. This shows that if you want to play, you have to perform.
4. Motivation techniques
Motivation techniques are how a coach

The Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt
The Muslim Brotherhood has been part politics in Egypt for more than 80 years. It was originally
formed by Hassan al Banna in 1928. The Muslim Brotherhood is a combination religious and political
group based on the belief that Islam is not just a religion, but a way of life. It dictates a separation
from secularism, returning to the rules of the Quran based on healthy families, communities, and
states. The brotherhood focused on two key principles. They are (1), the introduction of the Islamic
Sharia or way of life or principles, by controlling the affairs of state and society, and (2), working to
achieve unification of the Islamic countries and states, mainly among the Arab states, and liberating
them from foreign imperialism. The group concentrated on religion, education and social services. As
its membership grew, it moved into the political sphere, organizing protests against the Egyptian
government. The Brotherhood is the oldest and largest opposition group in Egypt. It has had
widespread support among Egypt s middle classes, and its members control many of the country s
professional organizations. Up until 2011, under Egyptian law, it banned all parties based solely on
religion. Sayyid Qutb, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood in the 1950s and 1960s, developed the
doctrine of jihad, and the radical group Hamas. It is believed to be an offshoot of the Palestinian
Muslim Brotherhood. Egypt s Islamists and the Muslim Brotherhood have a history of perseverance.

Theoretical Paradigms Of Structural Family Systems Theory
The major theoretical paradigm that informs structural family therapy is based on systems theory. The
word system is rooted in Latin and Greek words that mean to place together so a system can be
thought of as an entity made out of other entities that are placed together (Rosenblatt, 1994, pg. 49). In
systems theory there are many elements, assumptions, definitions to address the different dynamics
within a system. According to Rosenblatt (1994) systems theory provides insight into how systems
(families) are formed and highlights the patterns that surface within the system. Systems theory places
emphasis on the entire system (entire family), rather than focusing on the different parts (individuals)
of the system (Rosenblatt, 1994). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Vetere (2001) structure is defined by any given point in time where families organize
themselves based on overt/covert rules that impact the behaviors and choices of the family. Systems
theory discusses the different levels in a system and how one level influences another and so this same
assumptions can be observed in structural model (Rosenblatt, 1994). In structural model the family is
looked at as being embedded within wider social systems which serve as transactional patterns
(Navarre, 1998). Each family member can be characterized in more than one subsystem for a
permanent or short period of time. The roles of each member will be defined based on the subsystem
they are in. Family members are categorized by different subsystems, which can consist of parental,
couple, parent child, grandparent, male/female, power, hobby and interest (Minuchin, 1974). Hence,
based on the relationship of a subsystem families can form coalitions, enmeshment and
disengagement. According to Minuchin (1974) problems that children face are frequently due to the
boundaries between them and the parental

The Ideas Of Machiavelli And Socrates
Essay #1
The ideas of Machiavelli and Socrates have influenced the leadership styles and approaches of leaders
around the world. From Stalin to the founding fathers of the United States, Machiavellian influenced
motives and ideals can be seen throughout modern history. Socrates is often referred to as the founder
of Western philosophy, and his teachings have been passed on to leaders over the centuries. This paper
will state both the Machiavelli s concept of a Prince , and present Socrates perspective on the ideal
prince. It will then evaluate Machiavelli s concept of prince from Socrates perspective, and decide as
to whether Socrates would be supportive of a political system led by a Machiavellian Prince.
The Machiavellian approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This prince would not concern himself with the will of the majority, as decisions that he makes need to
be logical and defensible. This prince would place an emphasis on virtue, over the pursuit for material
wealth. The prince could never intentionally do wrong or evil, and would disapprove of the idea of
returning an evil for an evil.
The difference between the two figures is striking. Machiavelli writes about a prince that breaks his
word, when necessary for his own gain. On the other hand, Socrates argues that is never right to be
untruthful. Machiavelli and Socrates both argue for self development, yet the forms of development
that they advocate are very different. Although there are similarities, such as the fact that each ideal
prince should surround himself with smart, questioning advisors, the differences in the core of each
argument are too deeply divided. Socrates would not approve of an ideal Machiavellian prince, and
would not be supportive of the political system that this prince would lead.
The biggest difference between the two ideal princes is their respective views on ethics and justice.
For Machiavelli ethics should be pushed aside when it is in the best interest of the prince to do so.
This is something that Socrates could never endorse, as it is his belief that people should spend their
lives in the pursuit of virtue, and should lead ethical

How Does Mercury Affect The Body
Mercury, when one hears the word they man instantly think of fish or that old timey class
thermometer. Mercury is an element that is found within different regions of the world and can be in

that come from the chemical itself. However there is one thing that people forget when dealing with
any type of metal, it can be a vapor, yes mercury can be vapor (Bernhoft 2011). Rather, in fact, that is
another way that many people get sick from mercury because it is in the air and can get into our
systems in multiple different ways. However mercury can affect people differently depending upon
how much mercury goes into the system and how it goes in (Bernhoft 2011). However the debate as to
how the mercury truly affects the body is contervital, it is known that it can cause major damage to
many different organs, however it can cause the most damage to the brain. While the amount of

The Feminist Perspective of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Essay
The Feminist Perspective of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
In her feminist critique of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Anne Millard Daughtey described Buffy as a
show which obviously promotes female strength and power (159). Buffy herself is a symbol of female
empowerment (149); as feminists we can all take comfort in the fact that Buffy kicks butt and so can
we all (164). Sherryl Vint agrees that Buffy is a positive role model for young women, one which
feminism should celebrate (para. 3). I find this understanding of Buffy, both the character and the
series, to be very problematic, and with this paper I aim to undertake a revised feminist critique of the
show, and expose the Buffyverse as the product of a very traditional patriarchal ... Show more content

Before Buffy and her friends discover this, Dawn has a number of unnerving experiences, in which
people walk up to her staring, saying There s nothing there, you re not real, there s nothing there .
Truly, in the Buffyverse, there is no such thing as woman .
Prior to embarking upon my own analysis of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it this pertinent to consider
Joss Whedon s envisioning of his series, and in particular, his heroine, Buffy. In interviews he has
often explained his desire to create an alternative ending for the horror movie:
It was pretty much the blond girl in the alley in the horror movie who keeps getting killed ... I felt bad
for her, but she was always much more interesting to me than the other women. She was fun, she had
sex, she was vivacious. But then she would get punished for it. Literally, I just had that image, that
scene, in my mind, like the trailer for a movie what if the girl goes into that dark alley. And the
monster follows her. And she destroys him. (Quoted in Vint, para. 6)
Whilst we see here that Whedon s intention is to subvert the conventional horror movie/slasher genre,
I m not sure that he is successful. He is running the considerable risk of merely replacing the fetishised
female victim with a fetishised female hero; she is still a pretty blond girl, she is still fun, she is still
sexual, she is still Barbie with

How Did Christopher Columbus Contribute To The Age Of...
In a quote from a letter from Christopher Columbus to King Ferdinand on July 7, 1503: Gold is most
excellent; gold is treasure, and he who possesses it does all he wishes to in this world.
(UnderstandingPrejudice.org) Ever since the first inklings of European expansion, explorers like
Christopher Columbus had money and power of the mind, an ideology that has profoundly affected
our world in the modern age, while resonating thousands of years into the past. Christopher Columbus
would find patrons who shared this ideology in the form of the king and queen of Spain, who would
provide the funds and ships necessary to launch Spain and Columbus into the mainstream of history
argued as the most important (and possibly infamous) exploratory sail of man. In the old motto of
God, Gold, and Glory, the actions that Christopher Columbus partook in the name of Spain begins to
compound into an understanding that plants its roots in empire and Christianity, a continuance of
perceivable inevitability since the early Romans. There are three main reasons that Columbus
embarked on his journey with the support of Spain; the promise of gold and colonial expansion, an
exuberant fervor on the part of Columbus during his exploration, and an increasingly competitive
imperial machine controlling Europe at the time.
First, it is important to address the massive desire for wealth that countries experienced in the Age of
Exploration. Kingdoms for the most part stayed intertwined in the system of

Personal Narrative-Attic Analysis
Everyone has a problem with themselves, and no one can ever be perfect. My dad tells me. Everyone
has self doubt or some other problem at one time or another, whether it be emotional problems or
family problems, otherwise known as external and internal problems. I ve had both. My parent s
divorce, self doubt, and anger issues that followed are my example. I wanted it all to change because I
felt like being a caged animal. I couldn t escape my complications and it felt as if everything was
making my cage smaller and eventually, I d have to break out. That animal was my anger, self doubt
and any other problem, seething constantly, wanting to be unleashed. I needed to find a way to control
my anger, my self doubt, and my life. First, I ll tell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I continued to retaliate. I want to succeed! I want my dreams to come true! I will do what I want, even
if someone says I can t, all because I can. But, I cannot wait around, asking and wishing, hoping that
change will come, NO! I am going to work hard, I m going to stand up to my obstacles, and any other
thing threatening my path. I will do anything I can, in order to achieve and be a better person! Then,
my self doubt went down, and my anger became at bay. It felt like the world had opened up. I realized
that if I would ve taken responsibility for myself, I wouldn t have been this way. Life is all about being
responsible and ready to undertake your actions. I just needed to figure out how to become proactive,
and I realized how much I could gain in life. I just needed someone, such as my dad to trust and tell
me his stories and what he has learned about life, and most of all, I needed to stand up to myself. This
is all how I changed myself and became who I am. To this day, even if that self doubt comes back, or
my anger rises, I find something to do, and just think about how my future can and will be. No matter
how hard life gets, I won t give up. It s all because I m actually doing something about my life, and
not just waiting for it to change. I want to be a role model for people and my future family, because if
anyone goes through the same things as me, I can help, so that they may endure in the

A comparison of poems by Wilfred Owen “Dulce et Decorum...
A comparison of poems by Wilfred Owen Dulce et Decorum Est and Anthem for Doomed Youth
Wilfred Owen fought in the ww1. He enrolled into army at an early age which was probably
influenced by the government s enticing and false advertising. However in the trenches Owen soon
discovered the reality of war and how horrific the war was. At first he started to take notes about the
conditions. Then later in a military hospital he edited and turned these notes into poetry.
Dulce et Decorum Est is a Latin saying widely used and understood, often at the beginning of ww1.
The full title is Dulce et Decorum EST Pro Patria Mori ; it s sweet and right to die for your country. In
other words, it is a wonderful and high honour to fight and die for ... Show more content on

In the final stanza Owen writes as if the reader could see the bodies of the deceased soldiers, they
would not stop sending young men to war, nor would they tell their children the old lie with such high
zest . In the poem Owen uses the first and the second persons; he uses the first and second persons to
make the reader think that what he is talking about in the poem he witnessed. He uses for example we
, I and me . Owen uses the second person when he wants to make us reflect on the cruel reality of was.
We can see the third person when Owen is describing how the soldiers are going to fight.
Dulce et Decorum Est Owen uses a lot of powerful imagery in this poem. He conveys his thoughts
through the use of descriptive language techniques such as: metaphors, alliteration and similes.
Metaphors are used to. Alliteration makes the reader remember certain phrases, Knock kneed , men
marched and GAS! GAS! these are all examples of alliteration and Owen is trying to hammer in the
point. Imagine
Anthem for Doomed Youth is one of Wilfred Owens best known poems. It s about the fallen soldiers
who didn t receive their proper burials and it was as if the young soldiers were just sent there to die
just like cattle, for these who died as cattle . This aimed at ww1 however I believe that this poem
could be used to relate to soldiers today.

Myth And The Myth Of Myth
What is Myth before we begin our long discussion about the changes and how it reflect our society,
one should first know the meaning of it? Myth is something that may be true or not true. It is hard to
explain at one go, we have many historians in the world who always try to break the myth and tell the
world that those are not just myth they are reality and they effect to our social system in many ways.
There are always hidden messages in each and every myth that we have known till now in our life.
According to Claude Levie Strauss Mythical stories follow templates, but they are certainly not stable
or concert. Myth is connected with the rituals and some believe that in the ancient times rituals were
the main aspect by which a person can like himself with the divine god, it was like a path way to a
different dimension. According to historian s myth are considered as stories or event which happened
in the past, some believe that these myth also have strong symbolic meaning in many culture, or they
have changed with the passage of time. I want to talk about the Myth and the social message that was
there in Hercules story because it fascinates me lot, as he was considered to be the strongest man alive
at that time according to myths. I want to discuss who the myth of Hercules is changed according to
the modern world in the movie Hercules 2014. I want to talk about the difference in the story and how
differently son is Zeus is represented. What I know is that Hercules was

The Internment Of Japanese Americans During Wwii
Jaquelyn Hernandez
2nd Hr.Social Studies/ 3rd Hr.English
Unnecessary December 7, 1941 Roosevelt said, A date that will live in infamy. Japan entered World
War II in 1940 alongside the Axis which included Germany and Italy. Hideki Tojo then came to power
a year later. The Government saw the Dutch East Indies rich in oil as well as other Asian territories.
However the only threat to stopping the Japanese from conquering them was the U.S. Navy. In order
for this to happen Japan bombed the Huge Naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The surprise attack
killed 2,400 Americans and damaged warships and planes. Congress quickly took action and declared
war on Japan. On December 11 Japan s allies declared war on the United States. Roosevelt signed
Executive order 9066 on February 19, 1942. Executive order 9066 forced all the Japanese on the West
Coast into internment camps without a trial, (American History 807 811). The internment of Japanese
Americans during WWII was not justified because it was done because of their race, it violated their
individual rights, and it did not help the war effort.
The U.S. issued Executive Order 9066 because of fear and anger towards the Japanese. American
citizens were put in prison camps for crimes they did not commit. The only reason Japanese
Americans were put into internment camps was because Japan attacked the United States, But when,
under conditions of modern warfare, our shores are threatened by hostile forces, the power to protect

Bmw, The German Automobile, Motorcycle, And Engine...
Bayerische Motoren Werke, modernly known as BMW, is the German automobile, motorcycle, and
engine manufacturing company that was established March 7, 1916. BMW is headquartered in
Munich, Bavaria, Germany and is also the parent company of Rolls Royce Motor Cars ( History of
BMW , 2015). BMW s flourishing success has included the company in the German Big 3 luxury
automakers. The Big 3 includes BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz as the best selling luxury
automakers in the world ( History of BMW , 2015). BMW s technological innovation has been a
leading cause to their success. Ultimately, the development and history of their innovation have been
foundational to their growth and development. Interestingly, BMW did not originate as an ... Show

BMW s aircraft engine plant was then forced to close, being that their only product at the time was the
IIIa aero engine ( History of BMW , 2015). Upper management quickly began seeking other
alternatives which resulted in them obtaining a license with a very successful Berlin based company
called Knorr Bremse AG. This partnership was pursued in effort to begin manufacturing brake
systems as a response to survive the cessation of aircraft engine production. The contract was over a
ten year span and was intended to provide BMW with employment and profit until 1930 ( History of
BMW , 2015). This directional shift resulted in great advantage for BMW as manufacturing power
was allocated to BMW from Knorr Bremse AG because they could not handle the demand they were
receiving for manufacturing in their own factories. This allowed BMW to be accessible for
governmental bodies to pursue contracted agreements. Bavarian trains were then fit and prepared for
Knorr brakes in which the Bavarian government contracted with BMW permitting them to be the
official Knorr brake producers of Bavaria because BMW was located in the homeland ( History of
BMW , 2015). Furthermore, these conditions caused the company to pursue greater avenues which
lead to the manufacturing of motorcycle engines. In 1921 BMW created the first motorized bicycle

  • 2. Bowling For Columbine And Koyaanisqatsi The purpose of Bowling for Columbine and Koyaanisqatsi is not radically different, both directors are attempting to make an argument. In Bowling for columbine, Michael Moore is constructing an argument about the culture in some regions of the United States that are vulnerable to gun violence. To accomplish this he weaves together first person accounts from people responding to his questions on the issue and presents images that he wants the audience to connect with what they are seeing to create a definitive narrative perspective. In Koyaanisqatsi the director is arguing that the current modes of existence are inherently destructive for both nature and ourselves. The composition of the film is unique in that there is no spoken word and instead the director uses composition, speed, editing and music to create a musical symphony to make his point. Michael Moore s documentary has a very clear point to make. Moore will persist in asking until he gets the answer he must sense is waiting for him. For example, when he is talking to a friend of the columbine shooter, he continues asking him about why the school would have thought that he would have been likely to create violence. He asks 3 or four times to make sure that he gets the answer he is looking for. Michael Moore allows his subjects to speak, but he is the one forming the questions. Similarly, he chooses what will be shown and in what order so as to create associations and meaning from the raw images as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Physics of Stars Essay examples Stars are phenomenal glowing spheres that everyone has noticed in the night sky. Long ago they were poorly understood. Today, with the help from astronomers, physicists, and other space scientists, we have discovered a large amount of information about stars. These huge balls of flaming gas have many different ranges of characteristics. We can observe the many fascinating colors that may be displayed from stars. Some of them are not stars themselves, but the trillions of fragments left behind after they explode into supernova (Moreau, 2000). There is a huge variation in sizes of stars as well. They range from super giants to small dwarfs. Most often their sizes correlate to their age or the particular cycle they are beginning to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two diagrams show the action of subatomic particles smashing into each other creating other elements and energy as a byproduct. Both of these pictures demonstrate the occurrence between the most common elements, hydrogen and helium, undergoing fusion. Sometimes when dealing with mathematical descriptions of specific phenomenon concerning stars the complexity may become intense. However, we will explore common occurrences and changes of stars that can be described by simple mathematical relationships. One primary occurrence between stars that are approaching their later stages is a reduction in their radius. This occurs when elements such as hydrogen and helium in the center of the star change into gaseous iron from electron exchanges and other processes. Eventually the star becomes very dense and the radius of the star is reduced. By the conservation of angular momentum in this case, the velocity must increase due to the decreased radius (Kippenhahn, 194 95). Lets do a calculation to show this. By the conservation of angular momentum we get this equation: Ii wi = If wf, where Ii is the initial moment of inertia, wi is the initial angular speed, and If and wf are the final products of what I just listed. The moment of inertia of a sphere is (2/5)mR^2, where m is the mass and R is the radius. Plugging these into the equation Ii wi = If wf, we get, (2/5)mRi^2 wi = (2/5)mRf^2 wf. ... Additionally, the content we watch on these devices is growing at a prolific rate. This is due to easy access of programs, like Final Cut, Premiere Pro, and iMovie, that allow basically anyone to make their own video or movie. Some say that this ability to produce movies easier than ever before poses a threat to the integrity of the movie industry, claiming streaming sites, legitimate or otherwise, are shifting people away from the theater and moving them toward home entertainment. How to Perform a Sound Experiment There is a guideline proposed by the UK Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) that defines some rules for the handling of digital evidence [10]. The device must be kept separate from the network, and the investigation process should be properly planned. The functionality of the tool or software must be known also for having a secure wireless connection with device in order not to delete any information while running it [4]. A dummyrun approach can be used with same type of device under investigation. The device must be seized and analyzed by well trained persons. Integrated Circuit Card ID (ICCID, International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI), Mobile Country Code (MCC), Mobile Network Code (MNC), Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN) and Abbreviated Dialing Numbers (ADN) analysis is performed on SIM. Using forensics software and sophisticated tools which can retrieve data logically or directly from a mobile device can result in valuable evidence. • 6. Alienation Of The Individual From Society Alienation is a word that reflects feelings of isolation and loneliness. The feelings of alienation can be very depressing as the individual feels he/she is unwanted and does not belong to the place or society where they are currently living in. It is seen as if a person cannot provide for another or does not appear as the rest, they do not have any value. The two main characters such as Gregor within The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and Tessie within The Lottery by Shirley Jackson both demonstrate the issue of alienation of the individual from society. It is expressed within both readings that as individuals we are often aliened by others although influence of the individual in relation to the communities around them many individuals cannot exist within society as a free thinking, autonomous person. Within The Lottery , the author Shirley Jackson emphasizes on the idea of the lottery where a list of names from each member of the household in each family were put into a black box and one name would be selected at random. The following name selected would be stoned to death by the villagers including their family. This was a tradition followed by the villagers at end of the warm season to show a sacrifice to ensure wealth, crops, and prosperity within the future. Some communities feel alienated because of the repression or the policies of the governments in place. Traditions are usually passed down from previous generations due to the people being ... Unfortunately, there are a number of disadvantages to HIDS, as well. The most significant problem with HIDS is that the majority are software based and operate on the system itself. What this can lead to is controlling the HIDS if the system becomes entirely compromised. HIDS can also be difficult to manage if spread across many systems without an efficient administration plan in place. Finally, HIDS use the same resources the server it resides on uses. Depending on the activity of the server, a HIDS can be quite a burden to an already busy system. This can lead to bottlenecks, costly hardware upgrades, and other technical issues (Shimonski, 2004, para. 6). Network based IDS Network based IDS, or NIDS, are normally hardware based devices (or dedicated systems) that reside at critical points of the network capturing all incoming (and sometime outgoing and localized) packet traffic and analyzing it for suspicious patterns in accordance with the signature or rule database. The Police The police are afforded a wide range of discretional powers, covering things from deciding whether or to arrest someone to determining disciplinary actions in the workplace. With regards to deciding to arrest someone, I can see many reasons why this discretion is necessary. For example the police come across two young girls in a park smoking marijuana. Now the law ... There were very few significant relationships between attitudes and behavior when examining either group, with significant results possibly being a side effect of large sample sizes. Further there were few significant relationships when considering demographic or situational variables. However, in an exploration of police personality, through cluster analysis, evidence was found for different typologies , or resonances, of police. The results indicate that police are not an homogenous group. In addition, quite complex relationships between measures of police behavior and individual difference were found within the resonances, with effect sizes showing moderate results. The findings support the need to investigate further personality typologies and extend them to the examination of attitude behavior relationships. In addition, research into the use of an attitudinal measure, such as discretionary ideology, as an alternative to measuring behavior could be expanded. Moreover, broadening of the research into additional areas of the juvenile justice systems, such as legal representatives, magistrates, and youth detention centre officers, would provide further insight into the ... The board also set a time limit for the implementation to be completed by January 1, 2005. With the Convergence Project begun, both boards are working to organize an integrated accounting standard. Lamentation is religious painting which is 7 7 by 7 9 and can be seen at Arena chapel in Padua. The medium used in this painting is fresco, created by Giotto in 1305. 2. This is the very powerful painting where we see Jesus s dead body surrounded by his families, friends and people who loves him. Jesus body is removed from the cross and is carefully and gently held by his loved ones. There are numerous people around Christ, some are sitting, and some are standing. There are five figures who held Jesus body. There are three females which are wearing long gowns and have halo around their head. • 19. Judges Are Judges Vulnerable To Biases Even though it is hard for people to admit, judges can fall prey to biases. After several studies, researchers use the term cognitive biases to categorize the group of decision errors that can be made by judges. Researchers have found that judges appear to be similar to juries in their inability to disregard legally prejudicial and impermissible facts when deciding on a verdict. Three types of cognitive biases or illusions have been identified as those which trail judges are most vulnerable. These include anchoring, hindsight bias, and egocentric biases. These will all be explained further, including examples. The first type of bias is anchoring, which is very common among civil cases. It involves giving excessive weight to the initial starting value, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the tendency to change a previous judgment or decision in the direction of newly provided information. This is one of the most common errors in everyday human judgement and prediction. Legal scholars have noted that it is rare to expect people to predict the outcome of past events in real life. However, people in law are asked to make the type of judgment quite often. Since courts usually evaluate events after they have happened, judges are extremely vulnerable to hindsight bias. Researchers note that judges could not help but rely on information that was not available before a relevant event took place, but that later became available. The susceptibility to hindsight bias is troubling because judges are frequently expected to suppress their knowledge of some set of facts before making decisions. An example of this bias can be seen from exactly this. Judges are to ignore their knowledge of the outcome of a police search for purposes of determining whether the officers had probable cause to conduct said search. If the evidence found during the search was damning, this could prove to be incredibly difficult for the judge to write off when making their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Reflection In My Life Over the course of this semester me and our group success have participated in a variety of activities coordinated by the Counselor Mrs. Warren which touch on topics oriented around college, careers, and ourselves as people. These activities taught us life skills that we can apply in our life. For example, some of the activities included learning to do or determine our SMART goals, long term goals, skills/strengths, values and making decisions based on them, pathways to our potential career/education. Therefore, what we learned as a group with Mrs. Warren was how to apply those life skills taught in everyday life, How we would reach point A to point B, and learn more about ourselves as people. Throughout my life I have always felt like I knew myself, but until recently I have never, truly known myself. These traits are one of my utmost important values to me in the sense that they are what I do my best to live by them. My five main values are creativity, compassion, empathy, love, and wisdom. I value creativity since through that I am able to express myself. Compassion is important to me being that I cannot be a bystander and forsake the people suffering or the guilt would eat me alive, knowing I could have done something to help. Most of my life I have empathized with people, putting myself in their shoes and feeling their emotions, so that Is why empathy is one of my core values in view of How are you going to understand someone if you cannot put yourself in their ... In September 2013, a male Saudi cleric, Sheikh Saleh Al Loheidan, claimed that women who drive will have reproductive issues and their babies will be born with clinical problems (Jamjoom, 2013). This is believed to be in response to a movement protesting the laws against women driving. The fact that women are banned from driving themselves where they need to go hinders the ability to get to medical appointments without a chaperone, or walking. On October 26, 2013, a demonstration was planned for women activists to post video of themselves driving to protest the ban. Women are serving jail time for violating these laws (Jamjoom, 2013). As is custom, women must be accompanied by a male chaperone from her family, such as, her husband, father, brother, or son. This is for the women s protection. Multiple sclerosis is a prolonged, progressive, wasting disorder of the Central Nervous System categorized by distributed demyelination of nerve fibers of the brain and spinal cord. When a person is diagnosed with MS, there is immediate impact on all who love them. Family members may experience similar emotions to the person with MS as they adapt to MS in their lives fear, guilt, anger, denial, grief, anxiety . The exact cause of MS is unknown. However, its pathogenesis is associated with irregular immune responses against CNS antigens, interference of the blood brain barrier (BBB) and trans endothelial migration of activated leukocytes, as well as chemokines and cytokines, from peripheral circulation to the CNS. In active disease, there appears to be ongoing inflammatory as well as neurodegenerative processes within the CNS atmosphere. The triggering event for the first attack of MS remains projected. It is assumed that genetic and environmental factors are involved in the progress of MS. While growing up as individuals in society, the phrase Two wrongs do not make a right is well known. The phrase is a lesson. It means because someone does something wrong towards another individual it is not justified to do something retaliate. As human beings, the motive behind retaliation is revenge, which is the reaction behind every negative outcome towards another person. In life, behind every action that is made, a consequence follows. People in society must take the negativity that is thrown towards them, and turn it into positivity. The novel Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption shows many instances why two wrongs do not make a right. For instance, all heinous crimes in the novel are committed for the sake of retaliation. In general, every action that is made can often be justified; however, a positive outcome is not always guaranteed. Growing up, people hear [G]et over it and move on or let bygones be bygones . . . (Ford 285). Sometimes in life, Turning the other cheek is another way of avoiding problems so they will not cause a conflict with another individual. Negative conflicts would cause two wrongs to be made that could result in a hurtful outcome. For example, when a person does wrong the negative effect will follow. Although some may disagree, others may think that two wrongs do make a right: An act, which otherwise would be wrong, can be right when performed in the presence of, or in response to another act committed by an individual towards another. . . It may even be the case that two acts, each of which would be wrong in isolation, are both rendered permissible by the presence of the other. It shapes how they interact with peers, adults, and their selves. This theme is explored and emphasized in popular culture from musicals like Wicked with its popular song titled Popular to television shows like Sabrina the teenage witch, Glee, 90210, etc. How popular an adolescent is defines who they are, in that it shapes where they stand amongst peers and their self perception of their self value. Psychological research and theories support much of the popular culture perceptions and beliefs about popularity. Original Studies Reasoning For Scientific Adaptation Away From Our Original Perception Of Popularity Popularity is one of the most commonly studied peer interaction phenomenon. Initially these studies assigned participants to one of the following standard sociometric categories: popular, rejected, neglected, average, and controversial. These studies faded away for two main reasons. The first is that this model neglected to take the school structure into consideration when studying popularity. It ignored that due to the transition between classes starting in middle school students no longer have a small and stable social component that social interactions and sociometric status could be based on. The second is that popularity depends on the adolescents perception of popularity rather than how well liked an adolescent is. Popularity heavily depends on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lemelle begins the book by broadly defining Pan Africanism to mean the inclusion of all people of African ancestry living in continental Africa and throughout the world. This definition sets the foundation for his analysis of Pan Africanism. Pan Africanism for Beginners explores the major leaders and events associated with Pan African sentiments chronologically. The exploration begins with the early pioneers of Pan Africanism (20) such as Prince Hall, Paul Cuffe, Dr. Martin R. Delany, and Fredrick Douglass. While this was an early stage of Pan Africanism, conflicting views on how to deal the issues of racism and oppression. Prince Hall and Paul Cuffe believed in the emigration of blacks to Africa. However, Dr. Delany and Frederick Douglass argued against emigration. Instead, they believed that the United States was their home, and that they should remain (25). Lemelle notes that Dr. Delany later changed his attributes, however it is unclear if he changes his views from support of emigration to opposition to emigration or vice versa. This is not a major weakness; however, it did confuse me as a reader attempting to understand the beginnings of Pan Africanism. One of the initial major Pan African events Lemelle introduced was the creation of Sierra Leone s Province of Freedom along with the founding of Liberia. These two ex slave ... • 29. Minor Characters In Romeo And Juliet In the traumatic play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the tragic result is and is not the responsibility of the minor characters. The minor characters are certainly not responsible because Romeo and Juliet killed themselves with their own free will, and none of the minor characters were involved in this wistful event. As well as this, fate also had a significant role in guiding their relationship to not work out as it caused many events to inevitably happen. However, I believe that Friar Lawrence is accountable for part of the tragedy, as he did not do his best or go out of his way, to ensure that his plan for Romeo and Juliet would work out. Firstly, Romeo and Juliet ended their lives with their own free will, and no one encouraged or guided them to do so. An example is when Juliet was asleep in the tomb and Romeo assumed she had died. Romeo quotes, Is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks, and death s pale flag is not advancèd there. This hence shows that Romeo had an instinct that Juliet was not dead and he thoroughly noticed all the signs of a living and healthy person; however did not look deeper or infer profoundly. At this point, Romeo drunk the poison because he concluded that his life was not worth living unless Juliet was in it. This shows how Romeo ended his life himself without the influence of any minor characters. Another example is when Juliet stabs herself with the dagger. Juliet quotes, Yea, noise, then I ll be brief; O, happy dagger! This is thy sheath; three rest, and let me die. This also shows that Juliet killed herself with no encouragement from minor characters and stabbed herself with her own doing. Juliet was too in love with the idea of love, as she also thought she did not have a purpose without Romeo. Juliet had so much more to live for and none of the minor characters expressed to Juliet, that Romeo was all she had. These two examples intensively confirm how it was undoubtedly, not the minor characters fault and it conveys how they are not responsible for the disastrous and devastating deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Moreover, fate had a notable significance in regarding the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Fate led on many events that were destined to happen, with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The people of Ireland had grown up used to missing meals due to crop failure. However, previous crop failures couldn t compare to the potato famine of 1845. For the next five years, the blight destroyed nearly all the potato crops and killed many Irish. About one million people died during this time in Ireland because of the starvation and disease. About two million fled the lands of Ireland in hopes of escaping the starvation, disease, death, and poverty that had taken over Ireland since the famine. The tenant farmers, who suffered would farm land that belonged to the absentee landlords. They would grow many crops, most of which were very successful. They were only allowed to keep the potato crops for their own; the rest of the crops would be harvested and exported to England. The absentee landlords lived like kings while the tenant farmers were forced to sell everything they owned so they could have money to purchase food to stay alive. When they ran out of things to sell they were then forced to scavenge for food scraps just to escape death for a while longer. The Muslim Brotherhood is a combination religious and political group based on the belief that Islam is not just a religion, but a way of life. It dictates a separation from secularism, returning to the rules of the Quran based on healthy families, communities, and states. The brotherhood focused on two key principles. They are (1), the introduction of the Islamic Sharia or way of life or principles, by controlling the affairs of state and society, and (2), working to achieve unification of the Islamic countries and states, mainly among the Arab states, and liberating them from foreign imperialism. The word system is rooted in Latin and Greek words that mean to place together so a system can be thought of as an entity made out of other entities that are placed together (Rosenblatt, 1994, pg. 49). In systems theory there are many elements, assumptions, definitions to address the different dynamics within a system. According to Rosenblatt (1994) systems theory provides insight into how systems (families) are formed and highlights the patterns that surface within the system. In structural model the family is looked at as being embedded within wider social systems which serve as transactional patterns (Navarre, 1998). Each family member can be characterized in more than one subsystem for a permanent or short period of time. The roles of each member will be defined based on the subsystem they are in. Machiavelli writes about a prince that breaks his word, when necessary for his own gain. On the other hand, Socrates argues that is never right to be untruthful. Machiavelli and Socrates both argue for self development, yet the forms of development that they advocate are very different. Although there are similarities, such as the fact that each ideal prince should surround himself with smart, questioning advisors, the differences in the core of each argument are too deeply divided. Socrates would not approve of an ideal Machiavellian prince, and would not be supportive of the political system that this prince would lead. The biggest difference between the two ideal princes is their respective views on ethics and justice. For Machiavelli ethics should be pushed aside when it is in the best interest of the prince to do so. This is something that Socrates could never endorse, as it is his belief that people should spend their lives in the pursuit of virtue, and should lead ethical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. How Does Mercury Affect The Body Mercury, when one hears the word they man instantly think of fish or that old timey class thermometer. Mercury is an element that is found within different regions of the world and can be in inorganic forms such as metallics (Bernhoft 2011). Yet people seem to forget and realize the true harm that come from the chemical itself. However there is one thing that people forget when dealing with any type of metal, it can be a vapor, yes mercury can be vapor (Bernhoft 2011). Rather, in fact, that is another way that many people get sick from mercury because it is in the air and can get into our systems in multiple different ways. However mercury can affect people differently depending upon how much mercury goes into the system and how it goes in (Bernhoft 2011). However the debate as to how the mercury truly affects the body is contervital, it is known that it can cause major damage to many different organs, however it can cause the most damage to the brain. While the amount of damage done depends upon the dosages, if there is a large dosage it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. The Feminist Perspective of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Essay The Feminist Perspective of Buffy the Vampire Slayer In her feminist critique of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Anne Millard Daughtey described Buffy as a show which obviously promotes female strength and power (159). Buffy herself is a symbol of female empowerment (149); as feminists we can all take comfort in the fact that Buffy kicks butt and so can we all (164). Sherryl Vint agrees that Buffy is a positive role model for young women, one which feminism should celebrate (para. 3). I find this understanding of Buffy, both the character and the series, to be very problematic, and with this paper I aim to undertake a revised feminist critique of the show, and expose the Buffyverse as the product of a very traditional patriarchal ... Before Buffy and her friends discover this, Dawn has a number of unnerving experiences, in which people walk up to her staring, saying There s nothing there, you re not real, there s nothing there . Truly, in the Buffyverse, there is no such thing as woman . Prior to embarking upon my own analysis of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it this pertinent to consider Joss Whedon s envisioning of his series, and in particular, his heroine, Buffy. In interviews he has often explained his desire to create an alternative ending for the horror movie: It was pretty much the blond girl in the alley in the horror movie who keeps getting killed ... I felt bad for her, but she was always much more interesting to me than the other women. She was fun, she had sex, she was vivacious. But then she would get punished for it. Literally, I just had that image, that scene, in my mind, like the trailer for a movie what if the girl goes into that dark alley. And the monster follows her. And she destroys him. (Quoted in Vint, para. 6) Whilst we see here that Whedon s intention is to subvert the conventional horror movie/slasher genre, I m not sure that he is successful. He is running the considerable risk of merely replacing the fetishised female victim with a fetishised female hero; she is still a pretty blond girl, she is still fun, she is still sexual, she is still Barbie with ... • 41. How Did Christopher Columbus Contribute To The Age Of... In a quote from a letter from Christopher Columbus to King Ferdinand on July 7, 1503: Gold is most excellent; gold is treasure, and he who possesses it does all he wishes to in this world. (UnderstandingPrejudice.org) Ever since the first inklings of European expansion, explorers like Christopher Columbus had money and power of the mind, an ideology that has profoundly affected our world in the modern age, while resonating thousands of years into the past. Christopher Columbus would find patrons who shared this ideology in the form of the king and queen of Spain, who would provide the funds and ships necessary to launch Spain and Columbus into the mainstream of history argued as the most important (and possibly infamous) exploratory sail of man. In the old motto of God, Gold, and Glory, the actions that Christopher Columbus partook in the name of Spain begins to compound into an understanding that plants its roots in empire and Christianity, a continuance of perceivable inevitability since the early Romans. There are three main reasons that Columbus embarked on his journey with the support of Spain; the promise of gold and colonial expansion, an exuberant fervor on the part of Columbus during his exploration, and an increasingly competitive imperial machine controlling Europe at the time. First, it is important to address the massive desire for wealth that countries experienced in the Age of Exploration. Kingdoms for the most part stayed intertwined in the system of ... He enrolled into army at an early age which was probably influenced by the government s enticing and false advertising. However in the trenches Owen soon discovered the reality of war and how horrific the war was. At first he started to take notes about the conditions. Then later in a military hospital he edited and turned these notes into poetry. Dulce et Decorum Est is a Latin saying widely used and understood, often at the beginning of ww1. The full title is Dulce et Decorum EST Pro Patria Mori ; it s sweet and right to die for your country. In other words, it is a wonderful and high honour to fight and die for ... In the final stanza Owen writes as if the reader could see the bodies of the deceased soldiers, they would not stop sending young men to war, nor would they tell their children the old lie with such high zest . In the poem Owen uses the first and the second persons; he uses the first and second persons to make the reader think that what he is talking about in the poem he witnessed. He uses for example we , I and me . Owen uses the second person when he wants to make us reflect on the cruel reality of was. We can see the third person when Owen is describing how the soldiers are going to fight. Dulce et Decorum Est Owen uses a lot of powerful imagery in this poem. He conveys his thoughts through the use of descriptive language techniques such as: metaphors, alliteration and similes. Metaphors are used to. Alliteration makes the reader remember certain phrases, Knock kneed , men marched and GAS! GAS! these are all examples of alliteration and Owen is trying to hammer in the point. Imagine Anthem for Doomed Youth is one of Wilfred Owens best known poems. It s about the fallen soldiers who didn t receive their proper burials and it was as if the young soldiers were just sent there to die just like cattle, for these who died as cattle . • 44. Myth And The Myth Of Myth What is Myth before we begin our long discussion about the changes and how it reflect our society, one should first know the meaning of it? Myth is something that may be true or not true. It is hard to explain at one go, we have many historians in the world who always try to break the myth and tell the world that those are not just myth they are reality and they effect to our social system in many ways. There are always hidden messages in each and every myth that we have known till now in our life. According to Claude Levie Strauss Mythical stories follow templates, but they are certainly not stable or concert. Myth is connected with the rituals and some believe that in the ancient times rituals were the main aspect by which a person can like himself with the divine god, it was like a path way to a different dimension. Japan entered World War II in 1940 alongside the Axis which included Germany and Italy. Hideki Tojo then came to power a year later. The Government saw the Dutch East Indies rich in oil as well as other Asian territories. However the only threat to stopping the Japanese from conquering them was the U.S. Navy. In order for this to happen Japan bombed the Huge Naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The surprise attack killed 2,400 Americans and damaged warships and planes. Congress quickly took action and declared war on Japan. On December 11 Japan s allies declared war on the United States. Roosevelt signed Executive order 9066 on February 19, 1942. Executive order 9066 forced all the Japanese on the West Coast into internment camps without a trial, (American History 807 811). The internment of Japanese Americans during WWII was not justified because it was done because of their race, it violated their individual rights, and it did not help the war effort. The U.S. issued Executive Order 9066 because of fear and anger towards the Japanese. American citizens were put in prison camps for crimes they did not commit. The only reason Japanese Americans were put into internment camps was because Japan attacked the United States, But when, under conditions of modern warfare, our shores are threatened by hostile forces, the power to protect must ... Upper management quickly began seeking other alternatives which resulted in them obtaining a license with a very successful Berlin based company called Knorr Bremse AG. This partnership was pursued in effort to begin manufacturing brake systems as a response to survive the cessation of aircraft engine production. The contract was over a ten year span and was intended to provide BMW with employment and profit until 1930 ( History of BMW , 2015). This directional shift resulted in great advantage for BMW as manufacturing power was allocated to BMW from Knorr Bremse AG because they could not handle the demand they were receiving for manufacturing in their own factories. This allowed BMW to be accessible for governmental bodies to pursue contracted agreements. Bavarian trains were then fit and prepared for Knorr brakes in which the Bavarian government contracted with BMW permitting them to be the official Knorr brake producers of Bavaria because BMW was located in the homeland ( History of BMW , 2015).
