Wuthering Height by Emily Bronte
Are love, power and wealth essential elements in the perfect soul mate in life? These rudiments are
very critical in the novel Wuthering Heights. When looking at the portrayal of love in this novel,
there is a great distinction between the loves we show to others presently versus the love shown in
the novel. When considering Catherine and Heathcliff in the novel, they both loveeach other dearly,
but when it comes down to it, Catherine cannot marry Heathcliff. Why can t their love ever be?
This is so because Heathecliff has no wealth or power. Without these things, if Catherine were to
marry Heathcliff it would degrade her. So what does Catherine do? She marries Edgar Linton, a
man who has power and wealth, although she doesn t love him as much as she loves Heathcliff.
The author uses her past experiences to influence the way she writes this novel, which is why this
story can compare and contrast with the Victorian age and our modern society. All in all, love,
desire and money has a major role in the progression of the story Wuthering Heights, and when
compared to today s society there are noticeable differences in our portrayal of love.
Wealth plays a critical part in the novel Wuthering Heights. This theme applies and is associated
with almost every couple in the novel. When analyzing the couples Heathcliff, Isabella, and
Catherine, Edgar, wealth is the basis of each marriage. I ve no more business to marry Edgar Linton
than I have to be in heaven; and if the wicked man

Analysis Of O Leary s Cow To Blame For The 1871 Chicago Fire
For over 100 years a cow has been blamed for the 1871 Chicago fire. It s simply not true. There is
a myth that the O Leary s cow knocked over a lit lantern in their barn and caused the fire but
there is another cause for the fire. Before the fire there was about 109,000 people. Then after the
fire there was an estimate of 1,000,000 people when they rebuilt the new city ( Before and After
the Fire: Chicagoin the 1860s, 1870s, and 1880s ). The 1871 Chicago Fire not only resulted in
multiple fatalities, it also destroyed the city. It created a huge/life changing fire in Chicago. Many
people think a cow started the fire in the O Leary s barn, but that s just a myth. That summer the
ground was very warm and dry because of less rainfall than

Casual Substance Abuse
Casual Analysis of Drug Abuse The major cause of drug abuse is the parental influence on the
children. In many cases, drug abuse runs in the family, and as the children interact with their
parents, they tend to imitate what their parents are doing. For instance, a school youth whose
parent is taking alcohol may start drinking just because it is a common behavior in their family.
Besides, this may not be directly related to genetics since some follow what their parents are doing.
Another thing is that children from low income families tend to get involved in destructive
behaviors like drugabuse. This is because they receive less attention and teachings from their
parents and caregivers at the younger age. When the children are not given... Show more content on

taking these drugs, they become addicted and starts yearning for more of the drugs like Heroin.
When a patient receives these drugs for long, they can turn to be the potential users. Prescription
drugs are also readily available hence can be easily acquired. Marijuana can also be prescribed
for medical purposes, and when one keeps using it for long, they get addicted. The doctors should
provide alternative drugs to the patients rather than giving the ones that can lead to drug use. The
use of marijuana for medical purposes should be minimized since long term use can also lead to

Analysis Of From Here To Eternity By Charon
In the book Ten Questions, Charon argues that there are crucial variables that limit the impact
that an individual can have throughout the course of one s life. In the movie From Here to
Eternity, the characters in the movie are perfect examples of an individual influencing one s life.
Charon gives us four levels of evaluation to see if the individual can make a difference in: their
own lives, the lives of those with whom they interact with, various organizations which they belong
to, and in society. From Here to Eternity, shows us many characters that may have had a difference

The Holocaust Was The Systematic Killing Of Over 6 Million...
The holocaust was the systematic killing of over 6 million Jews by the Nazis and their partners.
Although many Jews were killed, many were also able to survive the gruesome times ahead of
them, such as the Brichta Family and the Grossman Family.
The Bricta family consisted of Hermann Brichta, Toni Brichta, Franz Brichta, and their close
relative Fritz Wasservogel. Hermann Brichta was born on a farm in 1897 surrounded by
neighboring Czechs. Hermann was an active participant in WWI and was discharged from the
army in 1921. He was aware of his Jewish ancestry, but thought of it as a nationality, not a
religion. Toni Bricta and Fritz Wasservogel were both born on June 26 1892 in Berlin. When
they were the age of 10, their father died so there were sent to separate orphanages, Toni became
the clerk of Berlin branch of the Allianz or at the Victoria of Berlin Life offices, and Fritz joined
the Dresdner Bank straight from orphanage. Franz Brichta, born on January 30th, 1933 was the
only one out of his entire family who was able to survive the holocaust.

Registration Of An Invention For A Statutory Monopoly
The patent system protects the functionality of an invention for a limited term. Registration of an
invention is necessary in order for any patent rights to exist in respect of it. An application is
necessary for registration. The Patents Act sets out the procedures and requirements involved in
such an application.
A patent is a right that is granted for any device, substance, method or process that is new, inventive
and useful. A patent is a legally enforceable right to commercially exploit the invention for the life
of the patent.
To be patentable, an invention must be at least novel (new) and inventive (not just a routine
manipulation of an existing product or process). In order to preserve the novelty of your patent it is

amendments can be made to the application in an effort to overcome any valid objections taken by
the examiner.
Application Process
A patent application is lodged (provisional then complete), then examined (s 45).

The Use of Imagery and Irony in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby has been around for ages; it is a story of a young man in the 1920 s who is
thrown into a new world made up of the new and the old rich. He is confused by the way these
people act and in the end cannot stay another minute in this strange, insensitive, materialistic world.
The author, F. Scott Fitzgeralduses many techniques to help the reader understand how Nick
Carraway (the narrator) is feeling throughout the story. In the book The Great Gatsby, the author F.
Scott Fitzgerald uses effective language to make his writing successful. He uses the techniques of
imagery and irony to display this message.
The first writing technique that makes Fitzgerald s writing effective is the use of imagery. Nick has
moved to West Egg,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New money was looked down upon by people who had old money and is shown through that
description of these two places. The first person that Nick describes is Tom Buchanan, Now he
was a sturdy straw haired man of thirty with a rather hard mouth and a supercilious manner. Two
shining arrogant eyes had established dominance over his face and gave him the appearance of
always leaning aggressively forward (7).He also describes Gatsby a little while later when he is
coming over to Nick s because his long lost love (Daisy), who is Tom s wife, is coming over for
tea. Gatsby, in a white flannel suit, silver shirt, and gold colored tie, hurried in. He was pale, and
there were dark signs of sleeplessness beneath his eyes (84). Nick s description of Tom
automatically makes the reader feel like they don t like him. He s arrogant and by his description
doesn t seem very nice. This is the difference between the new rich and the old rich. Tom doesn t
show it off in clothing or material things but more in his attitude, he thinks he s better than
everyone and dominant. Gatsby, on the other hand, doesn t have that kind of attitude. Rather he
wears things to show off his wealth. He is wearing gold and silver to display that he is wealthy.
The author uses imagery to help the reader understand the two worlds Nick is dealing with.
The book The Great Gatsby is very ironic. The good guy sadly doesn t win, which is very ironic

Inner Evil in Lord of the Flies by William Golding Essay
Inner Evil Throughout the novel Lord Of The Flies, the boys on the island are continuously faced
with numerous fears. Subsequently there is nothing on the island which they fear more than the
beast. The beast is not a tangible object that can be killed or destroyed by conventional means, but
an idea symbolizing the primal savage instincts within all people. Its Golding s intention to
illustrate the innate evil inside man through his view of human nature, the actions of the Jack and
his tribe, and the relationship between the beast and the school boys. Golding wanted to reveal to
the reader his point of view and theory of human nature. He wanted to make it clear that each
member of humankind has a dark side, which is portrayed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Their desire to please the beast leads them into golding s theory of inner evil, shown by the
gruesome slaughtering of the pigs and the Lord of the Flies itself, a gift to the supernatural
creature. The Lord of the Flies is a direct translation to Beelzebub, which is name given to the
devil in the bible. From this we can take Golding s perspective and motives not to express the
relationship between the Pig s head and the boys but human nature and evil. Soon the hunters lose
sight of their school boy origins and their compassion, seeking only to hunt pigs and increase the
tribe members or kill anyone standing in their way. This is a direct outcome from the beast who
leads the boys into savagery and violence further developing their own inner beast. The
relationship between the beast and the school boys is played out through the conversation
between Simon and the Lord of the Flies. The Lord of the Flies or pig head tries to intimidate
and forewarn Simon calling him, just an ignorant, silly little boy (184) and scoffs at Simon for
thinking the beast is something you could hunt or kill! (184) Golding uses this symbolic beast, the
Lord of the Flies, to reveal the truth to Simon which is that they (184) the boys on the island are
the real beast. Before Simon faints the Lord of the Flies warms Simon that

A Brief Note On Singapore And Conduct Business
DOING BUISESS IN SINGAPORE The reason we are going to Singapore is to conduct
business. With that being said, it is important to learn the way business is conducted in the
nation of Singapore. Subtle differences in the approach can potentially make or break a deal.
We have to be knowledgeable about their customs in order to avoid offense. Greetings Greetings
follow a strict protocol based off of ethnic origin and race. The elders are always introduced first.
Elders may or may not be accustom to shaking hands which is why you are to wait on them to
extend their hand first. If the person is from a Chinese background the handshake will tend to be
light and prolonged. If the person is Malay it is important to know that the women are not
allowed to shake hands with Malaysian men. This is due to the fact that Malaysians are mainly
Muslim and contact between males and females in public is forbidden. Instead they may utter
the phrase salaam followed by a bow. For our female employees, a nod and a smile will suffice.
If you are going to exchange business cards make sure the card is in pristine condition. The
treatment of the card is seen as a reflection of the relationship (Doing Business in Singapore).
Verbal and Non Verbal Communication The top four languages spoken in Singapore are English,
Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, and Malay. Luckily for us, the top language used for business and
politics in Singapore, is English. To Singaporeans, saving face is very important. It is a sign of

My Life Goals
After careful contemplation and the usual changing of my thought process I concluded that
thinking and not writing out my goals or vision plan was not beneficial to me. I asked myself,
why can t I have it all instead of having to choose? The question order is what do I want from my
career and then what do I want from my life or for my life? I thoughtand decided that society has
planted a seed in our heads saying that to accomplish your goals there is a specific order in
which things must be performed and for many this may accurate and lead them to success. My
situation is not everyone else s state of affairs it is truly my own. I am thirty five years of age on
my third marriage and have four children. My life was hard, some would say horrific but my
experiences have brought me much diversity in the knowledge of the true world and its
functions. Today I open my box that society has handed me tearing through the walls of criticism
and obstacles developing my own vision of my life goals starting from the future and planning
backwards to achieve my outcomes. My priority is my family so I will start with those questions
first, what do I want from life? I want nothing from life, because I know that nothing is handed
to you and you must work hard for what you want. Rephrasing the question what do I want out of
life? I want to live a simple life of elderly age with my husband alongside a lake in a simple but
unique crafty shelter. That being known, I can determine how hard do I

The Problems of Balancing School, Job, and Family
The Problems of Balancing School, Job, and Family
In today s century it is essential to have an education to enhance your job and provide a
comfortable future for your family. After having children we realize that education is significant in
order to succeed. While working takes a lot of time away from family, adding schoolto your
schedule makes it difficult to spend quality time with your children. The problem most people face
with balancing school, work, and family is being an excellent student, an outstanding employee, and
a caring parent all in the same day.
These chronic and systematic harms place a heavy burden financially, logistically, and
psychologically. With these three components you will first start managing your time by making
a list of your daily schedule followed by responsibility for your assignments and matters. Any
decision to leave all of your assignments for another time closer to the deadline will only help to
accumulate work that you will end up not having enough time to do. Time is a very important
resource in life, so you have to manage very wisely.
When living in these conditions it is important that you have your family support in order to
continue your journey and enhance psychological ability to accomplish your goals. When it comes
to balance work and school, there are several academic systems around the world that permit people
that are not able to attend campus to obtain their degree via internet. In addition, financially the

Shakespeare s Motivation In Hamlet
Known for the immense amount of unanswered questions and mysteries, Shakespeare s play
Hamlet has led to many discussions regarding the true feelings of Hamlet and his motivations for
revenge. Tormented by the death of his father and the marriage of his mother to his uncle Claudius,
Hamlet must struggle through the betrayal while seeking the truth of what occurred. No matter
how many times Hamlets actions have been analyzed, no one conclusion can be made as to why
Hamlet makes the choices he does. This unfortunately has left the character of Hamlet
unexplainable to readers. Many scholars are adamant in their belief of Hamlet having an Oedipus

be proven by the juxtaposed actions of Hamlet. In the beginning of the play, the reader sees Hamlet
as a melancholic young man mourning the death of his father, but by the end the reader is
presented with a nonsensical Hamlet that gains his revenge ruthlessly. Also, Hamlet exemplifies

Pros And Cons Of Year-Round Schooling
Is Year Round Schooling as Bad as it Seems? When a person first mentions the idea of year round
schooling, their comment is usually met with a look of dread. The image of year round schooling
is that students must go to school every day throughout the entire year with no breaks. This is an
untrue image. Students are given frequent breaks throughout the schoolyear to make up for the
shorter summer break. It was first used in the 1800s, which goes against many people s thoughts
that it is a new alternative schooling proposal (Research). At that time year round schooling was
used in industrial cities to teach English to children of immigrants. By the early 1900s, year round
schooling was used as a method to reduce overcrowding, underfunding,... Show more content on

Year round schooling could make those vacations more difficult. Even though there is a shorter
summer break using year round schooling, there is still enough time for families to go on a long
summer vacation. In fact, because of the way a balanced calendar is set up, there are different
opportunities for vacations. In year round schooling there are multiple breaks after each quarter.
These can allow families to go on vacation on seasons other than summer, and have more frequent,
smaller breaks during the year (Year round). The cost for plane tickets and some other expenses of
a vacation could be reduced. This could occur because if going on vacation during an offseason,
plane tickets are generally less expensive (Year round). With standard schooling there are times
when families want to go on vacation. The problem is that there either is not a break that the family
could go during, or the break is not long enough for the vacation the family wants (Flanagan). This
causes the student to miss school, and with that tests, lessons, and homework. It can be hard for
students to get caught up and fully understand the information that they missed during their time
off of school (Flanagan). The frequent break would help with this and make planning vacations
more easy. Summer vacationing seems difficult with year round schooling, but there are actually

Persuasive Essay On The Use Of Photosop
Photoshop has changed drastically through the ages since its first appearance in 1988. From
editing minimally to major creations with the talent and knowledge of how to. Today it is used in
the making of pictures with a sense of perfection. But how perfect is perfect? Many of today s
photoshopped pictures, especially fashion and beauty photos, give off the sense of unrealistic and
false body examples. Photoshopping on beauty and fashion images should be banned or at least
controlled in a way, for advertising unrealistic measures and putting that type of perfect on a single
body.
While Photoshop is used to portray improbable standards, it can be used for many good things.
Photoshop helps get rid of unwanted blemishes and used for touch ups. Many photographers
mainly use photoshop for the finishing touches, making it their own creation. Although photoshop
is deemed evil, ...raising awareness about why it is bad to alter images in mainstream ads and
media (especially print) oversimplifies the problem, (Perle). Elizabeth Perle believes the problem
with photoshop is that it is being taken way too seriously and magnifying too big. Aside from that,
she says that taking away photoshop will put even more pressure on, ...models and performers who
are still under an enormous amount of pressure to go to enormous lengths to make their bodies look
a certain way, (Perle). She connects her statement with research stating that ...magazines and
photoshop do not link to eating disorders but to disordered eating, (Arnold). Disordered eating is a
diet that is often confused with eating disorders. Many people who use diets are unhappy with their
body and are using a diet to achieve the body they want. Whereas on the other hand, an eating
disorder is intentionally not eating and starving themselves to get their desired body.
Although photoshop may be misjudged, it still continues to send bad messages to society. For an
example, children. Children are like sponges, they absorb as much information as they can in one
day as possible, varying from learning academically and socially. Introducing a flawless photo and
passing it off as realistic standards set a bad precedent for children. Many young girls and women

Political Participation Analysis
Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
First, I want to start by sharing my journey and how I became involved in politics. Early in life, I
recognized America s economic disparity and I knew that this was a problem that could be
solved and throughout the years that became my inspiration in politics. I attended Brooklyn
college and after a year, I transferred to the University of Chicago. I then became involved in the
civil rights movement during my university years. I was also a member of the congress of Racial
Equality and participated in a sit in against segregation of off campus housing in 1962.
The economy in the United States is what contributed to my interest in politics, which is why I
have goals to achieve in order to improve the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My father came from Poland with no money to maintain his family and was still able to improve
his economically position due to the job opportunities that America has offered. For this reason, I
am proud to be the son of an immigrant that all he wanted was a better life for his children. Many
hardworking families are coming to the United States to create a better future for their family and
is a tradition that has carried on by so many families but with only one problem. We have eleven
million people in this country who are undocumented. The main reason they came here was to
improve their lives, to escape oppression, to flee desperate poverty and violence and are shut out
from that same opportunity.
My priority is to fix the broken immigration system we have today. I plan to dismantle inhumane
deportation programs and detention centers and provide broad administrative relief to the parents
of DREAMers: the parents of citizens, the parents of legal permanent residents, other family
members and other immigrants who would have been given legal protections by the Senate passed
bill. It is also important to ensure our borders to remain safe and secure but respecting local
communities. I will regulate the future flow of immigrants by modernizing visa systems and
rewriting bad trade

How Does Heathcliff Change In Wuthering Heights
In Wuthering Heights author Emily BrontГ« crafts a harrowing death for Catherine as well as a
funeral scene that serves to communicate her true love; all things natural. Heathcliff is frequently
described as an extension of nature throughout the novel due to his strength, impulsivity, and the
manner in which he confronts his problems. By handling his issues directly and forcefully,
Heathcliffis a force to be reckoned with, just like nature itself. However, on the day of Catherine s
funeral, he handles his emotions passively like the civilized families. Heathcliff suppresses his
nature with the aid of alcohol, [swallowing] gin...by the tumblerfuls, a stark contrast to many of his
past decisions where he adamantly refuted to succumb to societal normalcies, content with his

Catherine s frantic love for Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights manifested as the brain fever that led

Strength Of The British Royal Navy Essay
The Strength of the British Royal Navy The strength of the British Royal Navy is that the Admiral
Nelson discovered a method to break the French Naval lines. Also, another advantage is that the
British was familiar with the Mediterranean Sea and they were able to locate possible destinations
of where the French could be located at. Another strength is their defensive strategy they used
against the French to break their lines. Lastly, their readiness throughout the battle was strong
because the British responded to the threat of the invasion immediately. The Strength of the French
Navy The strength of the French Navy is that they managed to keep the expedition to the

The British won because they were swift in their decision to go after the French Navy, instead of
simply waiting for the French to attack first. Also, the British tactics and ingenuity in figuring ways
into the defensive set up of the French Navy, led to their success in defeating the French. It could
also be said that the French were unprepared and let their guard down to allow the British to catch
up with them at their resting location. Also, the British was resilient in their pursuit of locating the
French even though they were unsuccessfully in previous attempts to locate them. Lastly, the
British deception also led to their victory because they deceived the French by having them think
that they were not going to attack at night. However, the British managed to achieve a surprise
attack that was an important element in their victory. For the French, they lost partly because of

Discussing The Intricate And Intimate Connections Between...
1. Why does Sommers discuss the intricate and intimate connections between herself, her
daughters and her parents on pages 293 295? Why does she look at her family? She says that
Love (as well as writing) involves a radical loss of certainty (295). How does that loss of
certainty apply to writing as well as relationships in Sommers experience? Because of Sommers
love for reading often alludes to her family life, she is able to introduce the reader to her family
and her thoughts behind words in a neat fashion. I assume that her family life has really shaped
her as a person. I think she wants to be be able to absorb lots of information from the world
around her. She says, I want to understand these living, breathing, primary sources all around me.
(295). This quote is important because, it shows the type of mindset Sommers is in. Her
mindset, being one that is willing to be open to new discoveries and different perspectives. She
looks at her family for inspiration from the world. She makes connections between her family
members, the things she s learned from books and other sources shaping her as a person. She
often pondered to herself when her daughter asked for typically feminine items like makeup,
thinking if there is an underlying meaning to it. As a result she states, Love (as well as writing)
involves a radical loss of certainty (295). She shows her readers this loss of certainty in her family

Learning To Drive
Many young people learn to drive as soon as they re old enough. Having a car is a huge freedom
you can go wherever you like whenever you like. Not only that, but many jobs require that you
have a car or at least hold a driving license so that you can run errands or go to see clients.
Like any sort of learning, everyone is different. Some people are taught how to drive by their
parents or by a friend, in the family car. The advantage of this is that it s free, but a big
disadvantage is that you re not being taught by a trained professional. Driving instructor s cars also
have dual controls so that if the new driver does anything dangerous, the instructor can control the
car. This is very important if you ve never been behind the wheel of a car before, so new drivers
might feel that they want to have lessons first, and then only practice with their parents once they
re more confident. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people find that two hour lessons are better, especially if they live a long way from the test
area. It s important to drive in traffic as you may encounter lots of traffic on your test, and being
able to handle this is critical.
A third option for learning to drive is to take an intensive course. These normally promise to
teach you to drive in as little as a month, so you drive every day as well as taking theory lessons.
At the end of this course you will take a driving test, and the idea is that you ve learned quickly
enough to pass. These courses can also save you money because you just pay for a set number of
lessons. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell if you re ready to take the test, but with an intensive
course you know exactly when your test will be.

Going To A Magnet School
I remember back in fifth grade when we were taught almost every day to say no to peer pressure.
The idea of saying no seemed liked the easiest thing to accomplish back then, but as I grew older,
I realized nothing is as easy as it seems. I was at that age where life changing decisions were to be
made. It was that time of the year when students in 8th grade pondered upon themselves deciding
on different high schools to spend four years in.
I d like to describe myself as a very simple person. So going to a normal high school, that s close to
my house with almost half of the people from middle school sounded like the best decision ever. It

Oppression In Jane Eyre
The Impression of Oppression in Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ« depicts the rigid social structure and clear division between the
upper and lower classes of Victorian society, in which wealth and status determined one s beliefs,
career, and treatment from those surrounding them. Those of the upper class did not typically
converse or involve themselves with those viewed as beneath them; however, Jane Eyre fights the
separation between the classes to which she has fallen victim at both Gateshead and Lowood
school. Her refusal to conform to the hierarchy eventually leads to the meddling between the
Victorian era elite and peasant class, as seen through Jane Eyre s romantic relationship with Edward
Rochester, an upperclassman and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Reed family evidently still carries this grudge against Jane s side of the family, as they all
treat her as part of a lower class that is unworthy to live with them or be associated with them in
any way.
The only time that a member of the Reed family speaks to Jane is when they are belittling her,
hoping to further assert their elite dominance over the lower class. In one particular quarrel,
John Reed, the oppressive Roman emperor and slave driver, throws a book at Jane s head to
physically proclaim his dominance over her, to which Jane responds by verbally firing back at
his elitist oppression. (BrontГ« 13) The battle between the social classes concludes with Jane
being banished to the horrifying red room as punishment for attempting to overthrow the elite
power, John Reed, even though John was the clear instigator of the scuffle. Jane is later
condemned by the house servants for her attempt to overthrow her young master. Jane and John
are both children, but due to the wealth and status of his parents, John is allowed to rule over
Jane, making Jane, as the Gateshead servants would describe, less than a servant because she
does nothing for her keep. (BrontГ« 15) Jane continuously faces this maltreatment at Gateshead
until an outburst directed towards Mrs. Reed causes her to be sent away to Lowood school, a
place where Mrs. Reed hopes Jane will perhaps be taught to conform to the societal norm of how a
young girl like Jane should act in

Difference Between Pinterest And Annotated Bibliography
Juxtaposing research via pinterest and annotated bibliography, taught me how social media can
be used as an academic resource and how to adequately identify credible sources for an annotated
bibliography. Also learning to use databases made it easy to find and identify reliable scholarly

formulator. Therefore learning MLA 8th edition was a completely new experience. The rigidity and

The expository writing style for the annotated bibliography asks the researcher to explain the
article/source while developing its credibility. In the academic world this allows other colleagues
to pinpoint where certain information was collected. The writing within the entry is direct,
lacking the color or vibrancy of the Pinterest board. The writing style for Pinterest is hard to
narrow down as a variety of media can be pinned. However, if we look directly at our classes
board we can see that the style communicates the information in a linguistically brief and concise
manner, while the visuals do most of the explanation. In the bibliography there are no visuals,
forcing the reader to rely solely on the annotated explanation.
The information in an annotated bibliography is built upon scholarly review and recognition by
those in a similar designated field of study. In Pinterest, the first pins on the board set the tone,
and the floodgates open for a rush of ideas. This collaborative nature allows the research to move
as a group conversation among individuals of all backgrounds . Given the popular appeal and
brevity of Pinterest s language, it may not be applicable for very specific topics. (I m researching

John Coltrane s Influence On Jazz Music
John Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. He was born on September 23,
1926 in Hamlet, North Carolina. From the documentary The World According to John Coltrane ,
we learned that John Coltrane had a huge influence on jazz music as he was always willing to
learn and gain experiences. Despite he spent most of his career playing with the rhythm and blues
and jazzartists, Coltrane still had the vision that he could improve his musical skills. As John
Coltranehas relentless curiosity towards music, he spent a lot of time learning music from other
cultures. He created a world of sound by bringing the idea of Asian, African and Middle Eastern
music into Western music cultures. Coltrane has an impact not only on jazz, but also contemporary
classical music, such as rock, pop and funk. Moreover, John Coltrane was a person that often
attacked his own problems in music and search ways to make improvements. Instead of being
satisfied with the things that he already knew, he tried his best to enhance the music notes that
disturbed him.

The Life of Marcus Linius Crassus
Marcus Linius Crassus was one of the most rich and powerful Romans during his time. He was
rich with both money and slaves, but mostly in victories, for he won many battles as a general
whilst working for Sulla. This man made a phenomenal impact on the lives of many Romans,
including his colleagues Gaius Julius Caesar and Gnaeus Pompey, but he also destroyed many as
well. In the year of 115 BC, Marcus was born, taking his place in his miniscule house that already
held two of his brothers, and their families, and both of his parents. Though born within a minute

about it (Gaskell 18). James, who is another servant, tells Hester that she has mistaken the wind
soughing among the trees for music (Gaskell 17). Hester must force Agnes, by way of rank, to
reveal that it is believed that the dead old lord , plays the organ (Gaskell 18). Miss Furnivall is
first connected with the music, when Hester claims that she thought it was her playing the organ
(Gaskell 18). Being that Miss Furnivall is deaf, and is therefore an unlikely musician, this insinuates
that Miss Furnivall is connected to this problem. However similar to A Christmas Carol, the music
is suggested to be derived from ghostly means, because the organ is found to be broken inside,
therefore unable to be played normally (Gaskell 18). This thought is later underlined when the
child, Rosamond, goes missing, and ghosts threaten the household, further emphasizing that a
problem exists (Gaskell 20,24).
Music is suggested many ways to cause her problems between Miss Furnivall and her sister,
Miss Maude, rather than aid the sisters in a solution. Both sisters fell in love with the same man,
a foreign musician, whom their father had down from London to play music (Gaskell 26). The
sisters develop a rivalry over the foreigner (Gaskell 27). The foreigner is never given a name

the sisters. As he is of lower rank and not British, he is developed to play on Victorian fears, and

Personality Overview Personality s definition can be sorted out in many defining terms depending
on who may be providing the definition and on whom. Inclusive of consistent emotions, thoughts
and behavior patterns in a person is more than what is needed to help us truly understand the
concept and define personality. Each one of us should have a clear perception of our personality
that would include what our strengths are, our thoughts, beliefs, motivation, emotions and our

According to Boeree, (2007), the unconscious mind would be made referenced to all the things that
are not easily available to awareness and other things such as our drives or instincts. Additionally
the unconscious mind includes the things that are put there that we block out voluntarily or
involuntarily as in any case resulting from a traumatic event or episode. Five basic dimensions
of personality were proposed by many personality researchers called the big five theory. This
theory has grown in popularity and have been for many years but only as broad categories of
personality traits. Many books and journals openly discuss and support the five factor model of
personality. Any details surrounding this theory, whether fact or fiction raises controversy
regarding the exact labels used of each dimension. These five dimensions represent broad areas of
personality where some researches demonstrated that these groupings of characteristics tend to
occur together in many people(Feist, Feist, 2009). This theory would also explain why some
personality types behave the way they do. A personality type that has a bubbly personality will
more than likely be talkative and friendly but may not always occur at the same time.

right and it is part of a social norm that itself is enforced through peer punishment (2016, p 29).
This can be in the form of ridicule, poking fun, embarrassment or peers pushing for someone s
removal. Levine and Modica quote Senator James Inhofe Army and Marines always feel that when
we re out there, we re not doing it for the flag or the country; we re doing it for the guy in the next
foxhole. That is in combat despite the hierarchical structure and severe punishments for cowardice
there are many opportunities to shirk. The enforcement mechanism the reason soldiers risk their
lives when there is little chance that their superiors will find out is the enforcement by the guy in

The Transgender Side Of The Lgbt Movement
Throughout American history, numerous influential social movements arose, such as the civil
rights movement, the youth movement, and the animal rights movement. However, one of the
most prominent and rapidly changing movements in the past year, 2015, has been the lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) movement, the advocacy for equal rights between heterosexual
and LGBT individuals. In this year, the LGBT movement made many crucial achievements. Starting
off the year, in February of 2015, the Human Rights Campaign began a movement named the
People s Brief. The purpose of this campaign was to gain nationwide support for the LGBT
movement. The group ended up gaining over 200,000 signatures which was many more signatures
than any other brief ever given to the Supreme Court. The transgenderside of the LGBT movement
also had major successes in 2015. After Caitlyn Jenner came out, the movement changed drastically.
It sparked many transgender people to come out to the media and discuss the inequalities and
violence that trans people face in society. However, perhaps the most important victory for the
LGBT was the legalizing of gay marriage across the country. This event happened on June 26, 2015
when the supreme court declared that denying two people the right to marry, regardless of gender,
is unconstitutional. Even though just a few accomplishments were named, many others occurred
that also had major impacts on the LGBT movement ( Best ). Although in recent months the

Self Care Proposal Paper
Objective: To reduce hospital readmissions for heart disease patients in the Chicagoland area by
providing patients with resources to better understand their conditions and live a healthier lifestyle
with improved diet and exercise.
Target Population: Our proposal will bring healthcare to patients in a direct, affordable manner,
overcoming financial and transportation barriers to aid low income patients. Our target patients
are those who want to actively care for themselves but do not know where to start, and those who
may be too restricted by their busy lifestyle and other priorities to make extra efforts in self care.
Direct home visits, provision of healthier foods in food deserts, and increased availability of
resources for management of their conditions will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will initially work with University of Chicago hospitals and initiate home visits with 100
patients; after a period of three months, we will extend the home visits to 200 more patients, 300
more after another 3 months, and so forth. Successful implementation of home visits in Washington
Park after about 1 2 years will allow for expansion of the program to more hospitals in Chicago
communities. Pillboxes, weighing scale, and weight logs can be immediately implemented into
many area hospitals, the minimal cost of which will be covered by the hospital system and funds
from non profit organizations and philanthropists.
Metrics: Number of calls to the helplines upon advertising, number of dietitians involved in home
visits, number of community centers and farms participating in the healthy food sale initiative, and
number of phone calls and website pre orders for the food delivery system will be some of the
metrics that will quantitatively measure the success of this

The War Plan For South Korea
North and South Korea, which have technically been at war for the last 65 years, are again acting
like it. (npr.org) They ve always been fighting each other, and this is another one of their battles. It
all started when there was an explosive from landmines in the DMZ, which is the sort of de facto
border that separates North and South Korea, which injured two South Korean soldiers that the
South has blamed on North Koreabut, of course, North Korea has not apologized for. (npr.org) That
angered South Korea which lead them to start anti North propaganda broadcasting through
loudspeakers. Consequently, both sides have been arguing at the DMZ. Then, everything was
settled when both sides made an agreement; however, no one really knows what Kim Jong Un will
do. As a result, the United Statesare hesitant, so the top U.S. commanders reviewed the U.S. war
plan for defending South Korea in case there was a sudden indication that North Korea was
going to begin a war. (cnn.com) They are on the watch for movement for activation of air
defences and artilleries. Currently, South Korea is low on missionary materials to fight North
Korea, so South Korea is going to need the U.S. s help. North Korea has half a million more
armed forces, 10,000 more artillery pieces, a thousand more tanks, and etc. This can be very
dangerous for South Korea if North attacks. It can also be dangerous if U.S. helps South Korea
meaning North Korea can attack U.S. Immigration has

Black Yellow: Profits and Warning Signs
Introduction
Based on the true story of Nick Leeson, Rogue Trader is a movie about a man that went from
London to Jakarta to Singapore, to become the head of the derivatives trading in the up and
coming Singapore stock market. Leeson had proven to be an effective and efficient worker when
he was tasked to get bear bonds sorted on his first solo tasking with Barings Bank in Jakarta. That
successful completion got him put in the Singapore position because they needed someone there,
and he seemed to have the potential to make Barings a considerable profit.
Control Environment
The internal control environment in Rogue Trader lacked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The bank s risk appetite was enormous, and they seemed to have their eyes on the potential for
profit.
While Leeson did not personally exhibit any of the red flags typical of someone committing fraud,
such as financial difficulties, living beyond his means, or family problems, the work environment
threw up red flags. With management based in London, Leeson had little direct oversight. Barings
was okay with this because of the profit that Leeson was generating for the bank.
Control Activities
The Accounting Information Systems book recommends seven types of control activities that can
prevent fraud. These include: Proper authorization of transactions and activities, segregation of
duties, project development and acquisition controls, change management controls, design and use
of documents and records, safeguarding assets, records, and data, and finally independent checks on
performance. These control activities should have been in place to prevent the fraud from occurring.
Many of those control activities were ineffectively operating in Leeson s office. Use of proper
authorization of transactions was supposed to happen, but there was no validation of who
authorized a deal. Barings gave Leeson much responsibility, and there was no segregation of duties,
which gave him the ability to commit and conceal his fraud. Verification that documents were

Bay Shore Park Amusement Park
Bay Shore park 1890 In 1890 a small group of Hampton Institute supervisor purchased eight acres
of beachfront on Chesapeake Bay to provide a place for student exercise and the location of a
hotel which could host out of town visitors. Led by Frank D. Banks, the administrators pooled
their funds to build a four room cottage they ambitiously named the Bay Shore Hotel. As word
spread, this rare Atlantic coast resort open to African Americans, soon attracted guest from as far
Georgia and New York on the summer weekends. By the year 1925 this summer vacation
destination grew to include the now seventy room Bayshore Hotel, a pavilion, amusement park,
and boardwalk along its 275 ft. waterfront. By the 1930 s, Bay Shore Beach and Resort, as it was

  • 2. Wuthering Height by Emily Bronte Are love, power and wealth essential elements in the perfect soul mate in life? These rudiments are very critical in the novel Wuthering Heights. When looking at the portrayal of love in this novel, there is a great distinction between the loves we show to others presently versus the love shown in the novel. When considering Catherine and Heathcliff in the novel, they both loveeach other dearly, but when it comes down to it, Catherine cannot marry Heathcliff. Why can t their love ever be? This is so because Heathecliff has no wealth or power. Without these things, if Catherine were to marry Heathcliff it would degrade her. So what does Catherine do? She marries Edgar Linton, a man who has power and wealth, although she doesn t love him as much as she loves Heathcliff. The author uses her past experiences to influence the way she writes this novel, which is why this story can compare and contrast with the Victorian age and our modern society. All in all, love, desire and money has a major role in the progression of the story Wuthering Heights, and when compared to today s society there are noticeable differences in our portrayal of love. Wealth plays a critical part in the novel Wuthering Heights. This theme applies and is associated with almost every couple in the novel. When analyzing the couples Heathcliff, Isabella, and Catherine, Edgar, wealth is the basis of each marriage. I ve no more business to marry Edgar Linton than I have to be in heaven; and if the wicked man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In many cases, drug abuse runs in the family, and as the children interact with their parents, they tend to imitate what their parents are doing. Besides, this may not be directly related to genetics since some follow what their parents are doing. From this we can take Golding s perspective and motives not to express the relationship between the Pig s head and the boys but human nature and evil. Soon the hunters lose sight of their school boy origins and their compassion, seeking only to hunt pigs and increase the tribe members or kill anyone standing in their way. This is a direct outcome from the beast who leads the boys into savagery and violence further developing their own inner beast. When a person first mentions the idea of year round schooling, their comment is usually met with a look of dread. The image of year round schooling is that students must go to school every day throughout the entire year with no breaks. This is an untrue image. Students are given frequent breaks throughout the schoolyear to make up for the shorter summer break. It was first used in the 1800s, which goes against many people s thoughts that it is a new alternative schooling proposal (Research). Year round schooling could make those vacations more difficult. Even though there is a shorter summer break using year round schooling, there is still enough time for families to go on a long summer vacation. In fact, because of the way a balanced calendar is set up, there are different opportunities for vacations. In year round schooling there are multiple breaks after each quarter. These can allow families to go on vacation on seasons other than summer, and have more frequent, smaller breaks during the year (Year round). The cost for plane tickets and some other expenses of a vacation could be reduced. This could occur because if going on vacation during an offseason, plane tickets are generally less expensive (Year round). With standard schooling there are times when families want to go on vacation. The problem is that there either is not a break that the family could go during, or the break is not long enough for the vacation the family wants (Flanagan). This causes the student to miss school, and with that tests, lessons, and homework. It can be hard for students to get caught up and fully understand the information that they missed during their time off of school (Flanagan). Although photoshop may be misjudged, it still continues to send bad messages to society. For an example, children. Being that Miss Furnivall is deaf, and is therefore an unlikely musician, this insinuates that Miss Furnivall is connected to this problem. Both sisters fell in love with the same man, a foreign musician, whom their father had down from London to play music (Gaskell 26). The sisters develop a rivalry over the foreigner (Gaskell 27). We will initially work with University of Chicago hospitals and initiate home visits with 100 patients; after a period of three months, we will extend the home visits to 200 more patients, 300 more after another 3 months, and so forth. Successful implementation of home visits in Washington Park after about 1 2 years will allow for expansion of the program to more hospitals in Chicago communities. • 45. The War Plan For South Korea North and South Korea, which have technically been at war for the last 65 years, are again acting like it. (npr.org) They ve always been fighting each other, and this is another one of their battles. It all started when there was an explosive from landmines in the DMZ, which is the sort of de facto border that separates North and South Korea, which injured two South Korean soldiers that the South has blamed on North Koreabut, of course, North Korea has not apologized for. (npr.org) That angered South Korea which lead them to start anti North propaganda broadcasting through loudspeakers. Consequently, both sides have been arguing at the DMZ. Then, everything was settled when both sides made an agreement; however, no one really knows what Kim Jong Un will do. As a result, the United Statesare hesitant, so the top U.S. commanders reviewed the U.S. war plan for defending South Korea in case there was a sudden indication that North Korea was going to begin a war. (cnn.com) They are on the watch for movement for activation of air defences and artilleries. It can also be dangerous if U.S. helps South Korea meaning North Korea can attack U.S. Immigration has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leeson had proven to be an effective and efficient worker when he was tasked to get bear bonds sorted on his first solo tasking with Barings Bank in Jakarta. That successful completion got him put in the Singapore position because they needed someone there, and he seemed to have the potential to make Barings a considerable profit. Control Environment The internal control environment in Rogue Trader lacked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bank s risk appetite was enormous, and they seemed to have their eyes on the potential for profit. While Leeson did not personally exhibit any of the red flags typical of someone committing fraud, such as financial difficulties, living beyond his means, or family problems, the work environment threw up red flags. With management based in London, Leeson had little direct oversight. Barings was okay with this because of the profit that Leeson was generating for the bank. Control Activities The Accounting Information Systems book recommends seven types of control activities that can prevent fraud. These include: Proper authorization of transactions and activities, segregation of duties, project development and acquisition controls, change management controls, design and use of documents and records, safeguarding assets, records, and data, and finally independent checks on performance. These control activities should have been in place to prevent the fraud from occurring. Many of those control activities were ineffectively operating in Leeson s office. Use of proper authorization of transactions was supposed to happen, but there was no validation of who authorized a deal. Barings gave Leeson much responsibility, and there was no segregation of duties, which gave him the ability to commit and conceal his fraud. Verification that documents were ...
