“Young Men Think Of The Streets As Providing Both Structure
Young men think of the streets as providing both structure and love when family members are
unable or willing to be there for them (Fader, p.106). Unfortunately, this concept is a sad reality
for many youth today. This passage was important because it is a reality that stretches beyond
one race, age or gender. Although this text refers specifically to young men of color it can be
applied to any juvenile without a stable family and home environment. Almost all of the young
men Fader discussed in her book came from broken homes with little or no family support. Family
structure and support is known to be one of the most influential factors in a child s life. Children
learn and practice what they see around them and are willing to accept... Show more content on

For some, these outside people are literally the only family that they have. Understandably then,
making the choice to leave them behind in order to better yourself can be difficult for some.
Because many feel indebted to those that were there for them when they were in need they
choose to never leave them behind. Birds of a feather flock together, essentially this saying
supports the idea of surrounding yourself with people you want to be like. Once you have
people in your life that are where you want to be, in this case, productive citizens good fathers
and without negative labels you work to maintain and expand that status. This not only made it
easier for James and Gabe to commit to a life of falling back but it also allowed them to start
over as someone new . Desistance is achieved through strengthening bonds to legitimate others
(Fader, p. 182). This was true for James and Gabe and it remains true for other young people
trying to change for the better. Social ties and consistent personal narrative are critical for
change. Obstacles to success should not be used as excuses for lack of progress (Fader, p.171).
This simple quote was powerful and true for me. Understanding this statement and living it should
be important for everyone in any situation. In life we all face obstacles on our road to success (our
goal). In fact, obstacles, setbacks,

13b 14a, which expresses the two different kinds of joy: self centered pleasure and God centered
delight.112 The servants will enjoy the presence of God.
Second, God promises to make the faithful ride on the heights of the land.113 The precise
meaning of the heights of the land is highly ambiguous. Knight claims that these heights are
where God places his feet, so from there one in his turn will be able to view the world below lying
in the hands of God (cf. Matt 4:8). 114 On the contrary, Achtemeier argues that in sheer
exultation, they will be exalted and will rejoice in the abundant and secure life Yahweh gives: such
is the meaning of v 14b (cf. Deut 32:13; 33:29; Isa 33:16; Am 4:13; Mic 1:3; Hab 3:18 19). 115
The latter view seems to be more persuasive because of its similar expression in Deut 32:13 and the
LXX rendering ta. avgaqa. th/ j gh/ j (the good places of the land).116

will also feed them with the inheritance of their father Jacob. The land promised to Jacob in
Genesis 28:13 14 now becomes the possession of the people.117 In other words, the rewards are
the abundant and secure life in the land promised to Jacob. The inheritance promised to the
servants seems to follow the thematic pattern similar to that of 57:13b. As the prophet promises

The Pros And Cons Of Baseball
According to the article, Quotations About Baseball (2017), Bill Veeck stated, That s the true
harbinger of spring, not crocuses or swallows returning to Capistrano, but the sound of a bat on a
ball. See what s crazy is this quote can apply to so much. As everyone loves when springtime rolls
around, avid sport lovers are eager for spring athletics. Known as America s pastime, baseballhas
been loved amongst the country since its creation in 1836. According to the chart, Top 10 List
of the World s Most Popular Sports (2017), lists baseball as number seven and boasts a whopping
five hundred million fans . Being an average American, I notice how Americans close their mind
to their beloved spring athletics. Past the ocean borders beholds land with totally different
cultures. Where America has baseball, Asia, Australia, and the United Kingdom all turn their eyes
toward a sport that originated in 1877, cricket. Top 10 List of the World s Most Popular Sports
(2017) lists cricket as the second most popular sport in the world entrancing over 2.5 billion fans .
While baseball is so popular in the United States, cricket rules the eastern hemisphere with five
times the number of fans. The two sports are similar and different on multiple aspects, an argument
definitely arises when discussing the difficulty between the two. Each sport has their own attributes
to declare better or more challenging than the other. I believe it s all a matter of opinion, facts, and
experience, but

Fascism in the Contemporary World Essay
Fascism in the Contemporary World
This research examines the development of fascism and ultranationalism in contemporary Croatia,
Hungary, and Serbia. Fascism and ultranationalism are not one and the same thing. While a fascist
likely will be an ultranationalist (and will certainly be nationalistic), an ultranationalist need not
necessarily be a fascist. As these two terms are critical to this examination, they must be defined.
Ultranationalism
Ultranationalism implies not only an intensely patriotic attitude toward and a highly chauvinistic
perception of one s own nation, but also implies a desire to exclude others from one s nation,
particularly should those others be in some way different from the majority population in ... Show

Generally speaking, however, the populations of both Germany and Japan are more aware of the
rest of the world than is true in the United States. Insularity in Germany and Japan stems not from
the ignorance of the world found in the United States, but rather from a desire to avoid societal
pollution. The German and Japanese governments are also less interventionist internationally than
is the United States government, and, thus, more in tune with societal preferences.
Ultranationalism, thus, is defined in terms of patriotism, chauvinism, insularity, exclusion, and a
withdrawal from international interventionism. To some extent, these phenomena must be present
in a society or in an organization designated as ultranationalist in character.
Fascism
Fascism is a term that is even more misused and misunderstood than ultranationalism. To many
people in the United States, the federal government is fascist, although in fact the American federal
government is not fascist in character. To many people around the world, fascism is equated with
racism. The original fascists which developed in Italy, however, were not racist. In fact, to many
people, any approach to political action or government that differs from their own preferences is
termed fascist. Such

Stereotypes Of Prom
Asking a highschool student whether or not they believe prom is worth it, you ll get both a yes
and a no. This is because each person forms their opinion based on the stereotypes of prom. It
may be the cost or it may be getting dressed up and having a magical night that forms their
definition of prom and it s worth which then helps them make their decision to say yes or no. To
me, a high schoolsenior, if i were asked if I believe prom is worth it my answer would be yes.
As a senior going to my last prom and my last high school dance ever, it is very hard for me to
piece together the reasons why people would rather not go to prom. When the students who don t
want to go to prom think of prom they re thinking of the cost. In doing this, they are neglecting
what may be one of the best nights of high school. As a child, I would go through old pictures
with my parents of when they were in high school and the picture I was always so in awe of was
the picture of my parents together at prom. In having this experience with my parents, I have now

wants to go with a date and if you don t have one then you probably won t go. As a girl, I get
drama but the prom drama is not worth it. It is not worth getting upset about. Prom is going to
happen regardless if you and your friends go or not, if you fuss about it or not and if you deem
prom worth it or not. Although, I do believe the fussing and fighting that prom brings is not worth
it, prom overall is still worth it to

Ponce de LeГіn set sail in March 1513 with three ships. According to early historians, on April 7,

The Importance of Using a Condom Essay
The Importance of Using a Condom
In a recent study performed at the University of New Orleans by Dr. Bruce M. King, only 20% of
men reported using a condom consistently, while only 50% reported using protection with a new
partner. The results of condom use or lack there of is clear:
?2/3 of all STIs occur in people 25 years of age or younger
?By the age of 24, 1 in 3 sexually active people will have contracted an STI
?In 2000, 15 to 19 year old women had the highest rate of gonorrhea compared to all other age
categories. (Sources: American Social Health Association, Centers for Disease Control, and Planned

possible to have sex with out condoms. It often takes a very open and committed relationship in
order to have sex without the use of condoms, and even in these situations other forms of
contraceptives are used, such as female condoms, or birth control. Alcohol and drug use in college
often interfere with rational decision making, therefore the use of condoms should be almost
engrained into the brain. The expense of condoms can be completely eliminated by visiting your
college health center or any health clinic where condoms are offered at no cost.
Many college students may believe that using a condom is awkward or embarrassing, however,
there is no question as to the benefits they convey on the person and partner using them. First,
condoms are 98 percent effective in preventing pregnancy when used consistently and correctly
(www.siecus.org). An unwanted pregnancy can dramatically affect ones goals and ambitions in
college, by simply using a condom this can almost always be avoided. Secondly, using a latex
condom to prevent transmission of HIV is more than 10,000 times safer than not using a condom.
Also, Several studies have demonstrated that condoms can protect against the transmission of

Age Of Reform Dbq
The Age of Reform started in 1820 and ended in 1860. The reform was to try to get rid
discrimination against many things or to improve conditions of life. People wanted life to become
more fair and everyone to be equal. In the Age of Jackson democracy became more popular,
democracy is what influenced the reform. Without these movements the US would not be the same
today. One of the many movements in the reform is the women s rightsmovement. Women could
not vote, attend schools, or have certain jobs. They were expected to take care of the house, cook,
and clean. Two women named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Stanton impacted this movement in
many ways. They had the idea to create a convention after they were told women could not take
part in the proceedings . Their convention discussed many things such as, social, civil, and religious
rights of women. This was the first gathering aimed toward women. Later Stanton wrote The
Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments talked about full equality for women.

Anointing of the Sick Sacrament Paper
Sacramental graces
The Catholic Church sees the effects of the sacrament as follows: As the sacrament of Marriage
gives grace for the married state, the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick gives grace for the state
into which people enter through sickness. Through the sacrament a gift of the Holy Spirit is given,
that renews confidence and faith in God and strengthens against temptations to discouragement,
despair and anguish at the thought of death and the struggle of death; it prevents the believer from
losing Christian hope in God s justice, truth and salvation. Because one of the effects of the

Several sick persons may be anointed within the rite, especially if the celebration takes place in a
church or hospital. The celebration may also take place during a Catholic Mass.
[edit]Relationship with the Last Rites
Anointing of the Sick is closely associated with, and often administered during the rituals known as
the Last Rites. However, the term Last Rites is not equivalent to Anointing of the Sick , since it
refers also to two other distinct rites: Sacrament of Penance and Eucharist, the last of which is
known as Viaticum (Latin: provision for the journey ) when administered to the dying. The normal
order of administration of the rites is: first Penance (if the dying person is physically unable to
confess, absolution is given conditionally on the existence of contrition), then Anointing, then
Viaticum.
Of the Last Rites, only a priest or bishop can administer the Sacraments of Penance and Anointing
of the Sick. In the absence of a priest these sacraments cannot be administered, but a lay person may
give a dying person Holy Communion, which in this case is Viaticum, the Last Sacrament of the
Christian .[8][14]

investigators will study to build a profile. Recognition to Identification to Individualization to

Basic bloodstain patterns can give investigators vital information about a crime scene. For a while
law enforcement was not a big on using bloodstain patterners to solve crimes, but now they use the
method more and more. Bloodstain pattern analysis gives you facts surrounding the crime scene by
using the physical nature of the bloodstain. The evaluation of bloodshed is to determine the
actions that created the bloodstains at the crime scene. The size, shape, and distribution of
bloodstains found at a crime scene can be used to remodel the event that took place. Bloodstain
can be tested too for DNA that will tell you if all the blood is come for one person or if someone
else in object used to cause bloodshed. Those are just some of the example that reconstruction can
be used to study bloodstains. Bloodstain patters fall into three different categories. The dropping

Hurricanes And Climate Disaster Events
1.Summary
Hurricanes and climate disaster events caused losses exceeding $110 billion in damages and 377
deaths across the United States, in the year 2012. This makes the year 2012 the second costliest on
record, after the year 2005 which witnessed $160 billion losses due to hurricanes, including
hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Sandy was the major driver of substantial damage costs in the year
2012 (approximately $65 billion). During the 1980 2005 period, the United States sustained over
$500 billion in overall inflation adjusted damages/costs due to extreme climate events. The analysis
of available data shows a significantly increasing trend in billion dollar disasters. The economic
impact of hurricanes is huge and there is a need to improve the resiliency and the sustainability of
the built environment under extreme wind events, to protect our citizens and to reduce the massive
economic losses brought by hurricanes. The purpose of this project is to significantly reduce
devastating hurricane effects on infrastructure by implementing solutions to provide strategic
guidance on the aerodynamic mitigation of buildings, to help lessen roof suctions, a major source
of economic losses and community disruption. In addition, solar panels arranged aerodynamically
to reduce both roof suction and panel s loads will be investigated, in an attempt to create safer and
greener buildings, as well as to meet stringent wind requirements.

called diatomaceous earth. Frankly, it has so many benefits, it is almost like cheating. It is both
a pest control agent and a growth medium, and it retains water and nutrients, while assisting with
drainage. The primary drawbacks are the potential for harm to helpful insects and the dangers of
inhalation, depending on which type you buy (though these are no different than the risks with
chemical insecticides). If you visit your local nursery or big box home improvement store, they

The Importance Of Power In The Middle Ages
From the origins of civilization, people looked for a high power for guidance and direction.
Beginning with the Sumerians, the kings and their nobility looked to their polytheistic religious
beliefs for direction through cosmic and terrestrial signals. Priests came into play, helping those
who needed help in their walk with their faith. The Popewas considered God on Earth and
government officials looked to him to answers numerous times during battles and wars. Religion
became a companion to power in the middle ages, but the nature of authority slightly changed,
relying more on religion, as we entered into the modern period. Beginning in the ancient period,
people had a say in how the government ran and religion was a major occurrence in everyday life.
The ancient Egyptians did everything revolved around their beliefs. Large construction... Show

The Dog Is Dark And Satirical Humor
After watching You the Living, my favorite scene was when there were dogs because it added a
different energy to the scenes. In the scene with the raging woman and her husband, the dog felt
fake and dead at first, but then it came alive. I think the dogs were the main attention grabber in
both scenes. The dragging dog was very surreal, cruel and yet funny. When I saw the comment from
Slant Magazine blog that Andersson s vision is dark and satirical humor and not yet entirely
hopeless, I thoughtof this dog scene because the dog was hopeless, but everyone was laughing.
Throughout the whole scene, I was just trying to see if he actually dragged a real dog. However, I
think another element that added to the comical side of this cruelty is the mechanical movement
and the rhythm of the whine. Everything was so exact and robotic, yet realistic looking.
The scene with the guy playing the guitar and a moving exterior background became more
fascinating after I watched the behind the scenes. The moving background was already awkwardly
amazing when I watched the film, but the behind the scenes made me appreciate it more because
they put in a lot of practice and preciseness. The behind the scene surprised me in many ways,
especially when the city perspective was revealed as miniature 2D paintings hanging in different
order. That was really unexpected and I ve never seen this technique before. Additionally, when the
behind the scenes revealed that Anderson painted his actors pale

Persuasive Essay On Society Hacking
Have you ever had your phone or computer hacked before? I know I have, and many times it
happens without me even realizing it. In today s society hacking has become so easy that even the
most inexperienced hackers can manage to steal your private data. This is one of my main reasons
for not supporting electronic votingmachines (EVMs). I feel that in addition to the security and
integrity of the vote it also saves states on the hefty costs to obtain and routinely maintenance these
machines. EVMs also may sound good to the new generation of Iphone and Android cell phone
users, but for the older generations this technology may be extremely confusing. Paper ballots have
been the method of voting for many years and have not caused so much conflict, why try to change
a system that s effective?
I recall vivdly one of the first times I had my computer hacked, from one moment to the next it
was like my computer had a mind of it s own. Links, buttons and keys were pressed that I wasn t
doing and all the while there was a hacker somewhere trying to steal my private information. In
today s society hacking has truly evolved from these types of attacks and have made cyber
security even more important. Just this year 1 of the 3 major credit buerau s was hacked and
millions of confidential data was compromised. Just imagine how dangerous it could be to have
your private voting information exposed. I recall during a recent election one of the candidates

Immature In Catcher In The Rye
Everybody has problems, right? But some people s problems are worse and need to be dealt
with accordingly. In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, Holden loses his brother Allie to
leukemia and multiple things happens to him in the story that is stressing him out and driving
him nuts. That is why we find out at the end of the novel that he is checked into a mental
hospital. Holden is very immature, he is a habitual liar, and he can drift off during the midst of
something because he isn t focused. Holden has shown us throughout the novel that he is
mentally unstable and that is why he is clearly not ready to be released into civilization, he
might need to stay here longer. Holden is very immature and cannot act his age for anything. In
the beginning of the story, Holden was very immature and self centered and he often did very
immature things, but he wanted to be an adult. This is very contradicting considering that he is
very immature. In the novel, Holden states, Boy! I said. I also say Boy! quite a lot. Partly
because I have a lousy vocabulary and partly because I act quite young for my age sometimes. I
was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen. (Salinger
16). This shows how Holden is very immature and needs to start acting his age and this could be
dangerous to society. This is why he needs to stay inside the mental facility. In the mental facility,
he will be safe and he will not cause any harm to anyone or to himself

National Trust For Historic Preservation
Heritage tourism is a growing niche in the tourism industry and it is something that most tourists
will engage at. By breaking the term is separated into heritage and tourism, the term heritage is
mainly associated with the meaning of the inheritance of something that is passed on throughout
the ages (Nuryanti, 1996). Tourism can be interpreted as the movement to somewhere to
experience a contrast to the current way of living (Miller, 2015). The definition that the National
Trust for Historic Preservation provides, traveling to experience the places, artifacts and activities
that authentically represent the stories and people of the past and present explains heritage
tourism very well (Hargrove, 2002). A more cynical definition explains heritage tourism as a
contemporary commodity purposefully created to satisfy contemporary consumption . For the
purpose of this paper, heritage tourism shall be defined as traveling to satisfy the feeling of
contrast of experiencing the places, artifacts, and activities that have undergone the passage of
time through the guise of authenticity. Tourists going to see the Roman Coliseum casually, or
tourists participating in a local ritual, in this paper, would be both considered as heritage tourism.
It is also important to know the broker local tourist model, which is Fig 2 in the appendix, and the
terms will be defined subsequently. Brokers will be defined as any persons who in one way or

Pharmaceutical Companies Against A Cure
Through the years rumors have swarmed over the accusations that there is actually a cure for the
different types of cancer. However, based on research there seems to be a notable profitable gain
within certain pharmaceutical companies, some assume that these companies value money more
than offering a permanent cure. Thus making it hard to believe that pharmaceutical companies are
in favor of offering medicines that cure certain types of cancer but instead prolong it. This makes
pharmaceutical companies feel as if they are operating under a more Jekyll and Hyde type of
business standard.

Hundred Year s War Research Paper
Research Paper Rough Draft
One of the world s most important wars happened in medieval time, known as the Hundred Year s
war. The Hundred Year s war was a war between England and France, which started as a conflict
between kings. The war also brought many changes to fighting tactics, religion, and government.
The Hundred Year s war, which started off as a conflict to become king, had major turning points
and battles which helped bring change to the world. The Hundred Year s war was caused by a
conflict that started with king Charles IV and the fight to become king. King Charles IV had no
heir to the throne as a result of having no male children. King Edward III of England believed he
should be king, while the French believed that King Charles IV s cousin Philip IV should be
king. Edward stated that he was the closest heir, due to the fact his mother is the sister of King
Charles IV. The French said because King Edward III was connected through a female, he had no
right to be king. The quote from Edward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

different land from different lords, who may be fighting one another. This system was partially
responsible for the war. The war also created hatred between England and France, and England was

(American Psychiatric Association, 1994) DPD is classified as a Cluster C personality disorder
in the DSM IV. Cluster C personality disorder is described as anxious or fearful. Females are
more likely than males to have a Cluster C personality disorder (Joseph Rey, 1996).Childhood
illness or separation anxiety disorder of childhood may be a premorbid condition to DPD. Some
experts believe that events occurring in early childhood exert a powerful influence upon behavior
later in life. Others indicate that people are genetically predisposed to personality disorders. In
some cases, however, environmental factors may cause a person who is already genetically
vulnerable to develop a personality disorder (National Mental Health Association). What is the link
between parental over protectiveness and authoritarianism and the development of dependent
personality traits in children? Parental over protectiveness and authoritarianism serve
simultaneously to 1) reinforce dependent behaviors in children of both sexes and 2) prevent the
child from developing independent, autonomous behaviors (since the parents do not permit the
child to engage in the kinds of trial and error learning that are involved in developing a sense of
independence and mastery during childhood). Thus, when

Weapons of the First World War
Research Overview of WW1 Weapons During World War I many new kinds of weapons and
technology were invented and improved. Some of these weapons included tanks, chemical and
biochemical weapons, grenades, and machine guns. Chemical Warfare was used for the first time
on a large scale in World War I. There are two main types of chemical warfare
, one affects the
surface of the body they come in contact with and the other affects the nervous system. Almost all
chemical warfare weapons needed to be inhaled to cause severe damage or death. Chemicals that
caused neurological damage acted by blocking the transmission of nerve messages throughout the
body, these types of chemicals included tabun, soman, sarin, and VX ( Chemical and Biological...

Chemicals that attack the nervous system are very powerful and can cause death within
minutes of inhalation. Nerve agents work by blocking the transmission of nerve messages
within the body ( Chemical and Biological Warfare ). A single drop of nerve agent can shut down
the entire body s nervous system in a few minutes ( Chemical and Biological Warfare ). Tanks
were first used in combat in September of 1916 by the British ( The WW1 Tank ). When tanks
were first created they were basically an armored car with a track instead of tires for easier off
road use. The first prototypes of tanks were very flawed and would take a lot of improvements
to become what they are today. They were not well adapted to moving over uneven muddy battle
fields so the tanks were easily bogged down by mud and sometimes got completely stuck. Tanks
were not only effective by their protective properties but also had a scare factor towards the
beginning of the war since they were new and the German army had not experienced them in battle
before. View slits were one of the main problems with the first tanks. For one they were too small
to be able to effectively see anything out of them while the tank was moving. And the slits were
targets for enemy gunshot.
The name tank came from the British, they shipped the parts for tanks in crates marked tanks to try

Australian Theater Ruby Moon and Stolen
Contemporary Australian theatre mainly focuses on the reflection of the real Australia and
communicating to the audience real and modern issues/ideas that respond to the social climate and
community. Australian theatre practitioners use various performance styles, techniques and
dramatic conventions to help portray their ideas to their audiences and make them feel a particular
way to the ideas presented in a play. Without the use of these styles, techniques and conventions it
wouldn t be possible for the practitioners to emphasise their ideas.

Stolen by Jane Harrison, depicts the broken lives of five children; Ruby, Sandy, Anne, Shirley and
Jimmy; and in doing so, portrays a myriad of personal experiences of those living in Australian
Society. Harrison does this through the skilful use of dramatic techniques, which are used to
convey various personal experiences, such as Sexual Abuse and Personal Identity, and it is through
these experiences in which Harrison demonstrates the personal experiences of the Stolen

Ruby is one of the most central characters of the performance, and she is used to portray to the

Essay On The Cost Of Working In High School
Over the past few years, colleges around the globe have started to become more expensive to
afford for a fresh new year for high school graduates. The total costing including school loans,

That would result to some impossibility to have for some students who currently didn t get jobs

Has I was going to say the first one is translation. Translation is where I made a twin mRNA

translation. My adventures begins in the RNA enzyme combining the DNA and aparting the two
nucleotide chain. After I went through that adventure, one nucleotide chain of the DNA works as a

together with the text Consumer Culture and Identities in Kathmandu: Playing with Your Brain by
Mark Liechty
The first text, presents the oppertunity of breaking out of historically constructed social classes, the

This here is the picture of the wonderful oppertunity that globalization and awareness gives to
society, but there are of course many other ways to look at globalization in the modern world.
I would like to also mention the text A Life of One s Own in a Runaway World by Beck, that
focus on individuals need for freedom, and the dream of being the boss of your own life. I
believe that some would argue, that this new focus on the individual in the western world and less
on the development of society, can have a downside for the part of the world who does not have
the means to do the same.
This here would present a picture on how globalization only offers a new field of oppertunity for
the people who have the means to take control of their own lives and only focus on their own
individual.
I would argue that depending on which side, because there are many, of globalization you look
at, you can find either a field of oppertunity or a new way to structure old inequalities. Hopefully
the closer we move to a more globalized world, we will experience individuals and society in
closer relation to eachother, and globalization would then be catagorized as a field of oppertunity.

At the turn of the century, American readers were interested only in stories with happy endings,
where goodness was praised and evil was punished. They did not particularly care if that was a
false interpretation of the way life really was. When men such as Frank Norris, the author of The
Octopus, wrote angrily of the injustices and povertyto be found in America, readers turned away.
The Octopus made them change their minds. The course of the novel and the reality of its
characters held the readers attention. It is so powerful a book that people had to care about the

Their solution to the crisis was to keep magnifying it, until it ruined the farmers. Once the railroad
raised the price for the land, the farmers could not afford to buy. They proceeded to create dummy
buyers, fictitious settlers who they created to come in and buy the land. Soon after Delany, a ranch
worker was fired, the railroad used him to act as a dummy buyer and buy the land.
There was no way Delany could actually afforded to buy the land on his own; he was obviously
acting as the railroad s pawn, sent to aggravate the ranchers who leased farms from the railroad.
The railroad also tampered with other types of characters in the story. Dyke was fired from his
job at the railroad after he refused to work for the rates of a man doing half the work he was
doing. Then after Dyke mortgaged his land to the railroad, they raised the rates on the crop he was

railroad s actions, and in a way, pass on the responsibility, by calling the railroad a force, something
that he had no control over. In the novel, he compared this force to the way that wheat was

legislative initiatives and government programs, launched by President Roosevelt supported by
Congress in response to Great Depression. The New Deal composed of the three R s: relief for
those Americans unemployed, recovery towards the economy allowing businesses to operate
again, and reform economy in preventing replicating situations. President Roosevelt s New Deal
was guided by four principles, set of ideas and beliefs that formed the New Deal Agenda, which
were to balance production and consumption, reform capitalism, to alleviate the inequalities of
wealth, and to counterbalance the power of big corporation with government programs and public
interest. The New Deal is significant because programs and initiatives were created in providing
channels for the working people to gain more access to work. In order to transform society, the
New Deal constructed a sense of economic prosperity

I Had Never Even Heard Of Discourses
When I first came to RIT, I had never even heard of discourses before, let alone write an entire
essay on it in roughly a week. I suppose then that this could be considered a separate discourse
itself. When I was in high school, our teachers had us focusing on completing essays solely based
on discovering the author s purpose and using literary elements to support our thesis statements.
There it did not matter what our background was; we had to get through the work and were almost
required to write it to a perfect state, otherwise it would not be considered as collegematerial. Upon
arriving at college, the classwork attitudes changed drastically. Here near perfectionism was not
stressed and the backgrounds of students were taken into consideration for classes. With so many
discourses present it a classroom, one would think that it would be difficult to accommodate
everyone, but for me, it is a discoursethat is surprisingly easier to adjust to. Instead of having
everyone adjust to one specific discourse, everyone is permitted to their own discourses and
contribute to the community. Similarly, Williams explains how these discourses impact conflicts
that could arise between students and teachers in the academic classroom. In Home and Away: The
tensions of community, literacy, and identity, Bronwyn T. Williams argues to researchers and
teachers so that they understand that because everyone comes from different backgrounds. They all
will not learn the same way and have

English 101 Made Me a Better Writer
Everyone on the planet has a goal set in life, but only a handful attempt to improve to obtain their
goal by studying the subject their goal is in. In my English class, English 101 this quarter I was
astonished by how much I had progressed as a writer sharpening my writing skills and also learned
a lot about writingthat I hadn t learned before. In my writing portfolio for this quarter I had to write
an autobiography essay, a research essay, and this reflection essay to develop my writing skills
better. The writing assignments were fun to do because it challenged me to work on essays of
different styles that were new to me. The essay assignments helped me grow as a better writer that
gave me the self confidence and skills to take on the world on my own.
During the beginning of the English 101 when we began the writing process: I thought at first
that we spent too much time on our essays but I soon realized how important it was spending
time on the essays to improve them . The revisions that my teacher and classmates made on my
essays were truly helpful for me because it allowed me to better my writing. For every week in
the entire course we went over the MLA formatting process, annotating, citing within the essay,
and how to make the paper flow better. I had the most troubles in this quarter when I started
writing some of my essays for my portfolio because I didn t have a clue how to start them at first.
After a while of brainstorming ideas and seeing examples the teacher

Human Sacrifice vs. Ritual Murder in The Lottery, by...
Imagine this; it is 9am, the sun is out and even though the children are playing , but before the day
is done, someone will find themselves the winner of the lottery. However, it is not the lottery that
most are familiar with. In 1988 author Judy Oppenheimer conducted an interview with author
Shirley Jackson, the author of The Lottery. In this interview Shirley explained why she wrote the
short storyin the following excerpt ; I hoped, by setting a particularly brutal ancient rite in the
present and in my own village to shock the story s readers with a graphic dramatization of the
pointless violence and general inhumanity in their own lives (Oppenheimer 1988 ). In order to

7 ). At this point, the readers of the story may be thinking maybe someone is going to win a trip or
something of that matter or perhaps even enough money to pay for all the souvenirs that they
would be sending to their families and friend while on their summer vacation. It is possible, that the
thought of someone winning a brand new shiny car could have crossed the mind of some other
reader of the short story. Was this the case? Author Shirley Jacksonmakes a daunting effort to give
the impression of everything in this small town being normal. She writes about some of the
children of the story. Her efforts to depict the children doing what children do best, playing,
added a simple twist to the story, and that same twist would soon shock the readers once they
realize the purpose of the stones the young boys were playing with were actually going to be used
to stone someone to death, but not just yet. One of the main characters of the story, Tessie
Hutchinson, made her way to the lottery a little bit late, flustered and out of breath. She even
admits to forgetting what day it was. However, despite all odds, she still made it on time
(SparkNotes Editors ). At this point the author makes a humungous step in the story that is intended
to confuse the reader. Most readers would probably think , this must really be an important event ;
Tessie must have been running or at least walking very fast, trying to make it to this

Essay on Fuel Economy in American Automobiles
Fuel efficiency in automobiles has become a topic of much discussion in recent years in the United
States. This is due largely to the environmental devastation that fuel emissions cause, but it is also
sparked by the rising fuel costs. Making cars with high fuel efficiency not only saves consumers
money, but also will drastically reduce the pollution that is caused by emissions. Today automakers
are putting a tremendous amount of effort into making their cars more fuel efficient, both to meet
government regulations and to make their car more appealing to the consumer. During the late
1900 s, fuel efficiencywas given very little thought by automakers. Instead, they competed with
each other by coming out with larger and more powerful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first law that was passed to enforce this was the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, which
was passed by Congress in 1975. This law established a Corporate Average Fuel Economy
program, commonly known as the CAFE program, and it required automakers to drastically
increase the fuel efficiency of their vehicles. Consequently, by 1985, the average fuel efficiency
of automobiles had risen to 27.5 miles per gallon, which is very close to what it is today
(Bezdek 132,133). Because CAFE did not change the fuel efficiency standard until years later,
by the early 1980 s most automakers had met the fuel efficiency that was required for their
automobiles, so they started to pay more attention to the size and power of their vehicles. Instead
of building cars with better gas mileage each year, they built their cars bigger and with more
power, while keeping the fuel efficiency just high enough so that it met CAFE standards.
Accordingly, the gas mileage of vehicles has not increased significantly since the 1980 s (Bezdek
133). In fact, the average fuel efficiency of new passenger vehicles steadily declined from the 1980
s until 2004. This was due to the loopholes which car manufacturers found in the CAFE standards.
CAFE treated light trucks much more leniently than cars, and allowed them to have considerably
less fuel efficiency than cars. This caught the attention of car manufacturers, who then looked at
how CAFE defined a light truck. They

Acorn Barnacles Lab Report
Food/Predation:
Acorn Barnacles are sessile (fixed to one place) as they are permanently fixed to the rocks. This
means that Acorn Barnacles cannot move from place to place to hunt for food, hence why they
filer feed. A structural adaptation that the barnacles have that allow them to feed are specially
adapted cirri (legs) that filter organic matter from the water. When the tide comes in, a muscle
opens the plates at the top of the Acorn Barnacle s shell. The barnacle then repeatedly waves its
long feather like legs (cirri) which have hairs that sifts the water, collecting plankton and other food
particles that are suspended in the water, before transferring them to the mouth for the barnacle to
eat. Because of this Acorn Barnacles need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oyster Borers are mobile as they move around from place to place to hunt for their food
barnacles. Oyster Borers feed during high tide, moving up the shore with the tide and retreating
to shelter at low tide (behavioural adaptation). A structural adaptation that Oyster Borers have is
a strong muscular foot. The Oyster Borer uses this muscular foot to wrench apart the opening
plates of barnacles such as Acorn Barnacles, before inserting its proboscis (mouthparts used for
feeding and sucking) into the flesh to consume it. Oyster Borers can also drill holes into the
shells of other prey such as oysters with their radula (file like teeth structure used for scraping or
cutting food) to feed on living prey. A physiological adaptation that Oyster Borers have is that
they use highly evolved chemo detection to locate their prey/food over long distances and by
touch. An Oyster Borers siphon (structural adaptation) serves as a chemoreceptor to locate food.
The chemoreceptor is a sensory nerve that converts a chemical signal into an action potential. In
this case Oyster Borers have a sensory nerve that detects chemicals (such as the odour of their
prey) in the air or on a surface of which their food source has been. This is then passed on as a
chemical to the brain or other central processor. This then results in the Oyster Borer to make
actions (drill holes into the shells) to eat its prey. This structural/physiological adaptation gives the
Oyster Borer an efficient way of locating its prey to

Open Plan Office Spaces Are Rapidly Gaining Popularity
Open plan office spaces are rapidly gaining popularity. Although the model promotes a dynamic,
collaborative space brimming with productivity, exchange of information, team harmony and the
flow of new ideas, research suggests that there are currently many issues hindering this vision
within the open plan environment. Noise from business machines, phones, and background speech
can create an environment where work focus becomes difficult. Insufficient fresh airflow and lack
of privacy, both speech and visual also contribute to dissatisfaction within the open planworkspace
(Parsons Miller 2013). Although many of the physical design aspects of the open plan officemay be

The points of reflection must be determined and treated with frequency specific absorption panels.
This should be implemented by the architect during design (Passero Zannin 2012). A retro fit of
sound absorption panels is possible, however inconvenient. Varjo et al. (2015) carried out extensive
acoustic testing in a controlled open plan office environment. Use of acoustic absorption panels and
audio masking techniques demonstrated a reduction in irrelevant noise by up to 36dBA at the 2K
position on the frequency spectrum which is the range of human speech.
Focusing on intensive cognitive tasks can prove difficult in open plan offices. A quiet space to
concentrate on a demanding task may not exist in the design (Brown 2013). While the existence of
irrelevant background noise from phones, machines and other devices is distracting, the most
common source of distraction to those attempting cognitive tasks is the immediate speech noise of
their colleagues. The intensive cognitive tasks most affected by speech noise are: recall of
information, comprehension, following processes/order of procedures anything that requires
semantic process (Jahnke 2012). As the size of an open plan office space increases, the cognitive
performance of staff decreases due to the rise in distracting stimuli. According to Seddigh et al
(2015), Results of memory testing found that open plan office employees cognitive performance
was 21% less than those in quieter, smaller, closed offices.

Pros And Cons Of A Lawyer
There are just so many things people don t really know about lawyers, one of the most common
facts that people know is that they are the ones that could help you out when it comes to legal
matters. People also know that it takes such a wise mind, commitment and dedication, to
become one. Unfortunately, there are some people who simply believe in basically whatever
they hear so they make unfair judgement towards lawyers. Here are some of the most common
questions people think about when it comes to lawyers. The only secret that the lawyer really
possesses about the law is that no one can ever be certain of what the law is. The lawyer is
accustomed to the ways of bending and and changing the rules to suit his or his client s purpose,
to dance in the shadows of the law s ambiguities. Rules hold no particular terror for the lawyer,
just as the sight of blood holds no terror for the surgeon. Because he operates as system of rules,
the lawyer becomes indifferent to the humanity of the body that is lying on the operating table.

question that people has when it comes to lawyers. A lawyers job is to guide and give advice to
people who need it when it comes to legal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Practicing law can definitely be rewarding since most lawyers earn a lot, according to the Bureau
of Labor Statistics, the average median pay for lawyers in the last 5 years was $112,760, but this
would of course depend on the field of law in which they practice and of course depend on where
they live as well. However, public service lawyers of course make less, probably half of the private
ones. It would also depend on the competition for the best corporate law jobs since people, most
especially companies would of course hire lawyers who came from the top law schools with
impressive GPA and has won multiple

Methods Of Dividing The Networks Into Small Controllable...
3.1 Clustering approach: The approach of dividing the networks into small controllable units is
called as clustering. The clustering technique advances the scalability of network through ease of
implementation and results energy efficient routing within the sensor networks. The clustering
approach has some other advantages also like conserving communication bandwidth, avoiding
redundant message transfer, localizing energy efficient route setup etc. LEACH, HEED, DECA,
etc. are the energy efficient routing protocols based on clustering technique. 3.1.1 LEACH: LEACH
stands for Low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy [10]. It uses the clustering technique to
distribute the energy consumption beside its network. LEACH protocol divides the network in the
form of cluster heads and clusters to gather the data packet information. The cluster heads do get
together with cluster nodes to collect the data information. Each round of LEACH protocol
performs following steps: Advertisement phase: It is the first step. The cluster head issues a
notification to the nodes to become a cluster member in its cluster within its transmission range.
The nodes recognize the information based upon the Received Signal Strength [10]. Cluster set up
phase: Nodes within cluster respond to their cluster heads. Schedule creation: After receiving
reaction from the cluster nodes the cluster head (CH) construct TDMA scheme and send it back to
cluster node member to intimate them when they have to pass

Recount of a Mock Trial
The central issue in the mock trial was whether the payment of life insurance from Prime Global
Insurance group to Raven Temple, the wife of the late Aubrey Temple, was warranted. Aubrey
Temple purchased a life insurance plan from Prime Global Insurance on March 16th, 2011. Prime
Global Insurance s policy is illustrated clearly in their terms and conditions that the one million

not have occurred by suicidewithin two years of enacting the contract. My contribution to jury
deliberations were to synthesize the evidence to most accurately depict the events that passed, and
to come to a conclusion whether Mr. Temple died by suicide or accidental death, and if his death
occurred before the two year time period as outlined in the insurancecompany s policy. The
prosecution and defense painted a story for the jury and called on witnesses including Ms.

transcript of a sworn testimony by the medical examiner of Mr. Temple, a detective who arrived at
the scene, the limo driver who was driving Mr. Temple from that night s Veteran Ball, and an
individual who was driving behind the limo before Mr. Temple was ejected out of the vehicle. The
evidence surrounding the death of Mr. Temple did not prompt hesitation or second thoughts about
what happened. The limo driver noted that it was

Compare And Contrast Popular Mechanics And A Good Man Is...
In life, sometimes random events will lead to one s death. These two stories, Popular Mechanics
and A Good Man is Hard to Find , both portray this idea. Popular Mechanics, written by Raymond
Carver, has a baby torn apart by its own mother and father s hate for one another. The mother
randomly saw the picture of the child and took it, and this stirred up emotions in the both of them.
Enough emotions to stop paying attention to the child s well being. A Good Man is Hard to Find
is written by Flannery O Connor, and in it a familyof six crash because of their cat, and a murderer
of a sort drives by randomly, eventually leading to the deathof them all. In these two stories, both
the important characters die in the climax, and both characters, baby and cat, are catalysis in the
story. The style of each story is negative writing and destructive in nature.
Both Popular Mechanics and A Good Man is Hard to Find both have very similar climaxes. In
each story, a character dies as the main point within it, leading to the reader having to interpret their
death. The misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and he shot her three times through the
chest. Then he put his gun down in the ground and took off his glasses and began to clean them. (O
Connor, p.122) This clearly shows the misfits attitude towards death and the killing of others. A part
of the disconnection of her death is that the misfit naturally enjoys to kill, and does not have a
connection to her. She reaches out to him, and he later cleans off his glasses like she was just
another dead person. This is unlike Popular Mechanics in that the killers care for the one they
kill. She caught the baby around the wrist and leaned back...He felt the baby slipping out of his
hands and he pulled back very hard. In this manner, the issue was decided. (Carver p.125) Both
of the parents love their baby, however the hatred for one another has blinded them and in the
end it destroys it. The ending is left to one s interpretation, but the baby most likely died given
how fragile they are and how aggressive the mother and father were. The old lady in A Good Man
is Hard to Find died a cold death leaving the killer to be either board or satisfied, and the

Issues Surrounding Surrogacy
Surrogacy is defined as a practice that can be used when a woman who cannot have a child has
another woman become pregnant and deliver the child for her. 1The other woman is called a
surrogate mother. In order to do this an egg from the planned mother or a donor is fertilized with
sperm from the planned father or a donor. The embryo or embryos are then transported into the
surrogate mother that carries and delivers the baby.1
Couples and their surrogate mothers are misusing surrogacy. Many issues can arise that it s not
even worth the risk most of the time. Some of these issues, especially when the contract is violated,
can lead to lawsuits. Other issues, such as the health problems, can lead to long lasting detrimental
problems for the baby, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

first option is fertility treatments. It would be a much easier process than surrogacy and the
woman or man would get injections or take pills to increase the woman s possibility of
conceiving. This might be a longer process, but if it works then the woman could carry her own
baby like she wants to. The other option is adoption. Adopting a baby could take a shorter or
longer time and it depends on many factors, but it would help a child who doesn t have a

  • 2. “Young Men Think Of The Streets As Providing Both Structure Young men think of the streets as providing both structure and love when family members are unable or willing to be there for them (Fader, p.106). Unfortunately, this concept is a sad reality for many youth today. This passage was important because it is a reality that stretches beyond one race, age or gender. Although this text refers specifically to young men of color it can be applied to any juvenile without a stable family and home environment. Almost all of the young men Fader discussed in her book came from broken homes with little or no family support. Family structure and support is known to be one of the most influential factors in a child s life. Children learn and practice what they see around them and are willing to accept... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For some, these outside people are literally the only family that they have. Understandably then, making the choice to leave them behind in order to better yourself can be difficult for some. Because many feel indebted to those that were there for them when they were in need they choose to never leave them behind. Birds of a feather flock together, essentially this saying supports the idea of surrounding yourself with people you want to be like. Once you have people in your life that are where you want to be, in this case, productive citizens good fathers and without negative labels you work to maintain and expand that status. This not only made it easier for James and Gabe to commit to a life of falling back but it also allowed them to start over as someone new . Desistance is achieved through strengthening bonds to legitimate others (Fader, p. 182). This was true for James and Gabe and it remains true for other young people trying to change for the better. Social ties and consistent personal narrative are critical for change. Obstacles to success should not be used as excuses for lack of progress (Fader, p.171). This simple quote was powerful and true for me. Understanding this statement and living it should be important for everyone in any situation. In life we all face obstacles on our road to success (our goal). In fact, obstacles, setbacks, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. 3.13b-14a Analysis 173 13b 14a, which expresses the two different kinds of joy: self centered pleasure and God centered delight.112 The servants will enjoy the presence of God. Second, God promises to make the faithful ride on the heights of the land.113 The precise meaning of the heights of the land is highly ambiguous. Knight claims that these heights are where God places his feet, so from there one in his turn will be able to view the world below lying in the hands of God (cf. Matt 4:8). 114 On the contrary, Achtemeier argues that in sheer exultation, they will be exalted and will rejoice in the abundant and secure life Yahweh gives: such is the meaning of v 14b (cf. Deut 32:13; 33:29; Isa 33:16; Am 4:13; Mic 1:3; Hab 3:18 19). 115 The latter view seems to be more persuasive because of its similar expression in Deut 32:13 and the LXX rendering ta. avgaqa. th/ j gh/ j (the good places of the land).116 112Ibid. 113There is a shift of the verbal conjugation from gN:[;t.Ti (hithael second per. masc. sing.) in v. 14a to ^yTiГћb.K;r hi (hiphil first per. masc. sing.) in v. 14b. The change of the person (first person) and verbal form (hiphil) in v. 14b enhances God s initiative salvific work and his blessing. 114Knight, Isaiah 56 66, 29. Similarly, Herbert also says that the phrase, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As God satisfies the needs of his faithful by providing them with drink and strength in v. 11b c, he will also feed them with the inheritance of their father Jacob. The land promised to Jacob in Genesis 28:13 14 now becomes the possession of the people.117 In other words, the rewards are the abundant and secure life in the land promised to Jacob. The inheritance promised to the servants seems to follow the thematic pattern similar to that of 57:13b. As the prophet promises the land and God s holy mountain in 57:13b, he also presents joy in the Lord and the bounteous and protected life on the land as God s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Baseball According to the article, Quotations About Baseball (2017), Bill Veeck stated, That s the true harbinger of spring, not crocuses or swallows returning to Capistrano, but the sound of a bat on a ball. See what s crazy is this quote can apply to so much. As everyone loves when springtime rolls around, avid sport lovers are eager for spring athletics. Known as America s pastime, baseballhas been loved amongst the country since its creation in 1836. According to the chart, Top 10 List of the World s Most Popular Sports (2017), lists baseball as number seven and boasts a whopping five hundred million fans . Being an average American, I notice how Americans close their mind to their beloved spring athletics. Past the ocean borders beholds land with totally different cultures. Where America has baseball, Asia, Australia, and the United Kingdom all turn their eyes toward a sport that originated in 1877, cricket. Top 10 List of the World s Most Popular Sports (2017) lists cricket as the second most popular sport in the world entrancing over 2.5 billion fans . While baseball is so popular in the United States, cricket rules the eastern hemisphere with five times the number of fans. The two sports are similar and different on multiple aspects, an argument definitely arises when discussing the difficulty between the two. Each sport has their own attributes to declare better or more challenging than the other. I believe it s all a matter of opinion, facts, and experience, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Fascism in the Contemporary World Essay Fascism in the Contemporary World This research examines the development of fascism and ultranationalism in contemporary Croatia, Hungary, and Serbia. Fascism and ultranationalism are not one and the same thing. While a fascist likely will be an ultranationalist (and will certainly be nationalistic), an ultranationalist need not necessarily be a fascist. As these two terms are critical to this examination, they must be defined. Ultranationalism Ultranationalism implies not only an intensely patriotic attitude toward and a highly chauvinistic perception of one s own nation, but also implies a desire to exclude others from one s nation, particularly should those others be in some way different from the majority population in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally speaking, however, the populations of both Germany and Japan are more aware of the rest of the world than is true in the United States. Insularity in Germany and Japan stems not from the ignorance of the world found in the United States, but rather from a desire to avoid societal pollution. The German and Japanese governments are also less interventionist internationally than is the United States government, and, thus, more in tune with societal preferences. Ultranationalism, thus, is defined in terms of patriotism, chauvinism, insularity, exclusion, and a withdrawal from international interventionism. To some extent, these phenomena must be present in a society or in an organization designated as ultranationalist in character. Fascism Fascism is a term that is even more misused and misunderstood than ultranationalism. To many people in the United States, the federal government is fascist, although in fact the American federal government is not fascist in character. To many people around the world, fascism is equated with racism. The original fascists which developed in Italy, however, were not racist. In fact, to many people, any approach to political action or government that differs from their own preferences is termed fascist. Such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Stereotypes Of Prom Asking a highschool student whether or not they believe prom is worth it, you ll get both a yes and a no. This is because each person forms their opinion based on the stereotypes of prom. It may be the cost or it may be getting dressed up and having a magical night that forms their definition of prom and it s worth which then helps them make their decision to say yes or no. To me, a high schoolsenior, if i were asked if I believe prom is worth it my answer would be yes. As a senior going to my last prom and my last high school dance ever, it is very hard for me to piece together the reasons why people would rather not go to prom. When the students who don t want to go to prom think of prom they re thinking of the cost. In doing this, they are neglecting what may be one of the best nights of high school. As a child, I would go through old pictures with my parents of when they were in high school and the picture I was always so in awe of was the picture of my parents together at prom. In having this experience with my parents, I have now realized that that is an experience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to prom girls have to be sure they get a dress and make sure no one gets the same one as them, there s an after party to figure out, there has to be groups made for pictures and there needs to be a decision on tables and all of this, of course, is on top of the fact that everyone wants to go with a date and if you don t have one then you probably won t go. As a girl, I get drama but the prom drama is not worth it. It is not worth getting upset about. Prom is going to happen regardless if you and your friends go or not, if you fuss about it or not and if you deem prom worth it or not. Although, I do believe the fussing and fighting that prom brings is not worth it, prom overall is still worth it to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without these movements the US would not be the same today. One of the many movements in the reform is the women s rightsmovement. Women could not vote, attend schools, or have certain jobs. They were expected to take care of the house, cook, and clean. Two women named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Stanton impacted this movement in many ways. They had the idea to create a convention after they were told women could not take part in the proceedings . Their convention discussed many things such as, social, civil, and religious rights of women. This was the first gathering aimed toward women. Later Stanton wrote The Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments talked about full equality for women. This document changed society and women were now allowed to do things they were not allowed to do before.... This makes the year 2012 the second costliest on record, after the year 2005 which witnessed $160 billion losses due to hurricanes, including hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Sandy was the major driver of substantial damage costs in the year 2012 (approximately $65 billion). During the 1980 2005 period, the United States sustained over $500 billion in overall inflation adjusted damages/costs due to extreme climate events. The analysis of available data shows a significantly increasing trend in billion dollar disasters. • 22. The Dog Is Dark And Satirical Humor After watching You the Living, my favorite scene was when there were dogs because it added a different energy to the scenes. In the scene with the raging woman and her husband, the dog felt fake and dead at first, but then it came alive. I think the dogs were the main attention grabber in both scenes. The dragging dog was very surreal, cruel and yet funny. When I saw the comment from Slant Magazine blog that Andersson s vision is dark and satirical humor and not yet entirely hopeless, I thoughtof this dog scene because the dog was hopeless, but everyone was laughing. Throughout the whole scene, I was just trying to see if he actually dragged a real dog. However, I think another element that added to the comical side of this cruelty is the mechanical movement and the rhythm of the whine. Everything was so exact and robotic, yet realistic looking. The scene with the guy playing the guitar and a moving exterior background became more fascinating after I watched the behind the scenes. The moving background was already awkwardly amazing when I watched the film, but the behind the scenes made me appreciate it more because they put in a lot of practice and preciseness. Holden has shown us throughout the novel that he is mentally unstable and that is why he is clearly not ready to be released into civilization, he might need to stay here longer. Partly because I have a lousy vocabulary and partly because I act quite young for my age sometimes. I was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen. Knowing how their parents felt and that what they did do was helping was a relief for Jenny, as well as Chris. Giving their mom and dad one last hug, both turned in early and were soon asleep. Not long after, Roy and Joannefollowed the example and after checking on all three of the kids, went to bed themselves. I believe that some would argue, that this new focus on the individual in the western world and less on the development of society, can have a downside for the part of the world who does not have the means to do the same. Soon after Delany, a ranch worker was fired, the railroad used him to act as a dummy buyer and buy the land. There was no way Delany could actually afforded to buy the land on his own; he was obviously acting as the railroad s pawn, sent to aggravate the ranchers who leased farms from the railroad. • 44. Essay on Fuel Economy in American Automobiles Fuel efficiency in automobiles has become a topic of much discussion in recent years in the United States. This is due largely to the environmental devastation that fuel emissions cause, but it is also sparked by the rising fuel costs. Making cars with high fuel efficiency not only saves consumers money, but also will drastically reduce the pollution that is caused by emissions. Today automakers are putting a tremendous amount of effort into making their cars more fuel efficient, both to meet government regulations and to make their car more appealing to the consumer. During the late 1900 s, fuel efficiencywas given very little thought by automakers. Instead, they competed with each other by coming out with larger and more powerful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first law that was passed to enforce this was the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, which was passed by Congress in 1975. This law established a Corporate Average Fuel Economy program, commonly known as the CAFE program, and it required automakers to drastically increase the fuel efficiency of their vehicles. Consequently, by 1985, the average fuel efficiency of automobiles had risen to 27.5 miles per gallon, which is very close to what it is today (Bezdek 132,133). Because CAFE did not change the fuel efficiency standard until years later, by the early 1980 s most automakers had met the fuel efficiency that was required for their automobiles, so they started to pay more attention to the size and power of their vehicles. Instead of building cars with better gas mileage each year, they built their cars bigger and with more power, while keeping the fuel efficiency just high enough so that it met CAFE standards. Accordingly, the gas mileage of vehicles has not increased significantly since the 1980 s (Bezdek 133). In fact, the average fuel efficiency of new passenger vehicles steadily declined from the 1980 s until 2004. This was due to the loopholes which car manufacturers found in the CAFE standards. CAFE treated light trucks much more leniently than cars, and allowed them to have considerably less fuel efficiency than cars. This caught the attention of car manufacturers, who then looked at how CAFE defined a light truck. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oyster Borers feed during high tide, moving up the shore with the tide and retreating to shelter at low tide (behavioural adaptation). The Oyster Borer uses this muscular foot to wrench apart the opening plates of barnacles such as Acorn Barnacles, before inserting its proboscis (mouthparts used for feeding and sucking) into the flesh to consume it. Oyster Borers can also drill holes into the shells of other prey such as oysters with their radula (file like teeth structure used for scraping or cutting food) to feed on living prey. An Oyster Borers siphon (structural adaptation) serves as a chemoreceptor to locate food. The chemoreceptor is a sensory nerve that converts a chemical signal into an action potential. In this case Oyster Borers have a sensory nerve that detects chemicals (such as the odour of their prey) in the air or on a surface of which their food source has been. • 52. Compare And Contrast Popular Mechanics And A Good Man Is... In life, sometimes random events will lead to one s death. These two stories, Popular Mechanics and A Good Man is Hard to Find , both portray this idea. Popular Mechanics, written by Raymond Carver, has a baby torn apart by its own mother and father s hate for one another. The mother randomly saw the picture of the child and took it, and this stirred up emotions in the both of them. Enough emotions to stop paying attention to the child s well being. A Good Man is Hard to Find is written by Flannery O Connor, and in it a familyof six crash because of their cat, and a murderer of a sort drives by randomly, eventually leading to the deathof them all. In these two stories, both the important characters die in the climax, and both characters, baby and cat, are catalysis in the story. The style of each story is negative writing and destructive in nature. Both Popular Mechanics and A Good Man is Hard to Find both have very similar climaxes. In each story, a character dies as the main point within it, leading to the reader having to interpret their death. The misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and he shot her three times through the chest. Then he put his gun down in the ground and took off his glasses and began to clean them. (O Connor, p.122) This clearly shows the misfits attitude towards death and the killing of others. A part of the disconnection of her death is that the misfit naturally enjoys to kill, and does not have a connection to her. She reaches out to him, and he later cleans off his glasses like she was just another dead person. This is unlike Popular Mechanics in that the killers care for the one they kill. She caught the baby around the wrist and leaned back...He felt the baby slipping out of his hands and he pulled back very hard. In this manner, the issue was decided. (Carver p.125) Both of the parents love their baby, however the hatred for one another has blinded them and in the end it destroys it. The ending is left to one s interpretation, but the baby most likely died given how fragile they are and how aggressive the mother and father were. The old lady in A Good Man is Hard to Find died a cold death leaving the killer to be either board or satisfied, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This might be a longer process, but if it works then the woman could carry her own baby like she wants to. The other option is adoption.
