In contemporary philosophy of mind, talk of perception has fallen out of favour. Indeed most writers
to deny perception altogether, or claim that they do not matter. Instead they reduce perception to
reality, or speak of the really real. Perception are said to be nothing but particles or waves or
structured brain events. Always already Nothing but matter and motion. One influential philosopher of
mind, Paul Churchland in his book The Engine of Reason, The Seat of the Soul replaces the perceiver
with functioning biological bodies. The perceiver gets reduced to an organized body, mind becomes
the brain, body motions become actions, man becomes the person. Churchland redefines phenomenal
qualities as being nothing but properties of the brain. Cognitive events such as understanding,
recognising, feeling, and perceiving are replaced with neural analogs. Here psychological events are
treated solely as neural events. This is the prevailing view in cognitive science.

The book Song of Songs, by Watchman Nee is about his interpretation of the book in the Bible Song
of Songs, written by Solomon. The book in the Bible is basically about the romance between a lover
and his beloved. The language speaks of the love in a marriage relationship and the pursuing nature of
the two lovers. It is a very touching dialogue and has a lot of meaning hidden in the text. Watchmen
Nee brings to life his interpretation of the text and how it relates to believers pursuit of Christ. He also
goes into the spiritual aspect of the Biblical text in his interpretations. The read is very deep and
informative on what is actually written in the Song of Songs. He gives many insights into the book in
the Bible, many that relate to believers now and some that I touched my life. There are many sections
of the book Song of Songs ranging from, The Initial Pursuit and Satisfaction, to The Groaning of the
Flesh and so on. Each of the sections cover certain verses from the Biblical text and include
subsections on the interpretation of verses. The part of the book that touched me the most was in
section two, on The Call for Deliverance from the Self, specifically, Failure and Recovery. This

In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, author Tennessee Williams uses his three main characters
Stanley, Stella and Blanche to illustrate the theme of sexual hedonism in a world where each struggles
for survival and desires to belong. Stanley Kowalski and his wife Stella live in a two room apartment
on Stanley s blue collar salary. They are visited by Stella s sister Blanche Dubois who has just lost the
family plantation, Belle Reve. The three exist in the jungle society of New Orleans where each is a
victim of animal desires, social pressures and use sex to try and gain control of the world around them.
