2. Santa Clause Personal Statement
I was in third grade when I stopped believing in Santa Clause. As I listened to my classmates
describe the gifts they had received for Christmas, I noticed that my friends from wealthier
families got more presents than my friends from poorer families. After some reflection, I decided
that the only plausible explanation was that money, rather than elves, determined who ended up
on the nice list. I have always had a strong sense of justice, but over the course of my life it has
manifest itself in different ways. When I was in third grade it led me to give up my belief in
Santa Clause; and when I was in high school it drove me to volunteering with local nonprofits.

It is one thing for a society to fail in this purpose, but it is quite another for one to militate against
this cultivation. Locking people up will not cure drug addiction or mental illnesses. It will not
reduce crimes of poverty, and it has not reduced crimes of violence. There is even some evidence
to suggest that the negative economic effects of incarceration, coupled with the damage to family
and community ties, may actually lead to more crime. Incarceration is a reaction to crime, it is not
a solution for crime s underlying causes. The more I study the criminal justice system, the more
viscerally I feel a sense of

4. Persuasive Essay On Homeless People
Image being homeless, and not having a stable dwelling to call home. For a majority of people
throughout the United States reality is true for these Americans. For example, waking up every
day, not knowing where your next meal will come from; having to asking strangers for a few
dollars, to get something to eat and drink. For instance, Crisis, the homeless charity, Perhaps this
week has been active for 50 years says 114,780 people were homeless in England during two
thousand fifth teen and two thousand six teen. Perhaps as many as 34,500 people sleep rough in
England in any year around 4,000 a night. Crisis says that for every rough sleeper, there are 100
people in hotels, and 1,100 households in bed and breakfast and over crowded accommodations. (

money on the street? In an interview last month, Pope Francis suggested the answer was to give
without hesitation; but many charities beg to differ. Thames Reach, which supports homeless

5. Levels Of Processing (LOP) And Type Of Memory
Abstract
Researchers of California State University, San Bernardino s PSYC 311: Introduction to
Experimental Psychology course have conducted a study on levels of processing (LOP) and type
of memory. The foundation of the present study is molded after the Challis, B. H., Brodbeck, D.
R. (1992) study which aimed to confirm that LOP has a significant effect on type of memory.
Researches, in addition to the previously mentioned, would like to validate that a dissociative effect
will occur between the types of memory (implicit memory and explicit memory) just as Roediger,
H. I., Srinivas, K., Weldon, M. S. (1989) reported. The results concluded that LOP does in fact
have a significant effect on type of memory; also a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The levels of processing theory (LOP) was introduced in 1972 by Craik and Lockhart. This
theory or model states that there are two different levels of processing (LOP). One level is
shallow processing, or perceptual memory, where one is able to identify the physical or sensory
characteristics of what is being presented (Craik Lockhart, 1972). The other is deep processing,
or semantic memory, which enables one to have meaning or understand about what is presented
(Craik Lockhart, 1972). LOP predicts that deeper processing allows for easier recall; meaning
that if one grasps the meaning of a word he/she will able to retrieve that word with ease at any
given time (Craik Lockhart, 1971). LOP was put to the test in an experiment in 1975 with Craik
and Tulving.
Craik and Tulving (1972) gave participants a list of words, for each word there was a set of
questions. The shallow level question asked about the physical characteristics of the word (e.g., Is
the word in capital letters? ). The phonetic level question asked whether the word rhymed with
another word (e.g., Does the word rhyme with train? ). The semantic or deep level question asked
either a categorical question (e.g., Is the word an animal name? ) or a sentence question (e.g., Would
the word fit into the sentence: He met a ______ on the street? ). The experiment was repeated ten
times with some alternative methods and the general results concluded that the words paired with
deeper level questions were

6. “Beauty (Re) Discovers the Male Body” Essay examples
Beauty (Re) Discovers the Male Body response In Beauty (Re) Discovers the Male Body by Susan
Bordo, Bordo writes an analysis on the male body in advertising. Bordo discusses how in the
society of advertising and fashion the male body isn t really seen as a symbol of arousal compared
to the female body. She continues saying how the naked or half naked femalebody is seen as an
object of mainstream consumption (p.299), while the maleboy is just beginning to be a commercial
representation (p.299) object. She also talks about how the percentage of people viewing these
pictures with half naked males mainly only increased in the male percentage of viewers instead of
the females. Bordo continues by adding how women feel the need... Show more content on

The sources help to show how looking thin and muscular or fit is the popular trend. She explains
that advertisements and movies have changed to fit the trend and that she wishes the male body
would look more natural rather than a sex object. In Bordo s opinion the male body should be less
sexual and more natural. Although this is a plausible argument I believe that men in the ads
should continue to appear as sex objects (p.312). It would allow men to strive to look like what
the ads show. It will also motivate the men of our society to be fit. Bordo also believes that men
get aroused by the ads of men in underwear more than women but nowadays a lot of women get
aroused by half naked men. Women do actually survey (p.303) men more than she thinks they do.
Women like to read or look at pictures with men toned, tan and sexy and fantasize about them.
Bordo uses primary and secondary sources from multiple companies to prove her argument that
men rather than be seen as sexy macho men they rather be seen for how the really look. She also
touches upon how society has changed in media fashion and advertisement concerning the male
body from just females just being the only ones in ads to male and females and how it affects
females in society

7. How Did The British Agricultural Revolution

The British Agricultural Revolution
The British Agricultural Revolution was a time where agricultural production in England
increased due to land productivity and labor. This revolution took place between 1690 and the
1850 s. During this time, there were many developments emerging from this era. Developments
included an increase in farm size, land claims, land drains, and development of a national market
based on minimal government regulation to name a few. One of the most important innovations
was the crop rotations. Crop rotation was a practice of growing a series of different crops in the

In 1701, a seed drill was invented by Jethro Tull that allowed corn to be sown in regular rows.
The seed drill produced less wasteful crops and made laying seeds easier and more efficient. In
1703, The Rotherham plow was invented in a village in Yorkshire making plows easier to handle
and turned the soil more effectively. Later in 1786, A Scotsman named Andrew Meikle invented a
thrashing machine that was used to separate ears of corn from stalks. The thrashing machine made
picking corn ears faster and more efficient, and required a lot less labor. The first machine made in
the 19th century was the first ever reaping machine invented by Robert Ransome. The only
difference between this invention and the seed drill, was the durability. Robert s reaper was a lot
stronger and more efficient. The last invention related to agriculture was the evolution of steam
power. Steam power was applied to plowing. The power was fixed to long cable connected to the
plows that were then pulled across the farm by a stationary steam engines. Steam power would
increase efficiency and productivity unlike the human hand. A farmer could only cut one furrow at
once, while the machine can do multiple furrows at

8. Comparison Of To Kill A Mockingbird And The Purloined Letter
Harper Lee and Edgar Allen Poe have two very different styles, thoughts, and ideas. In Harper
Lee s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, the narrator, Scout, experiences life as a young girl in a
prejudice town. As her father takes on a black man s case, the family receives negative attention
from the people around them. In Poe s story, The Purloined Letter , a man steals an important letter
from a lady. The story revolves around Dupin finding the letter and returning it. The interactions
between characters in both, To Kill a Mockingbird, and, The Purloined Letter , demonstrate a
common theme of women and feminism. In To Kill a Mockingbird, the interaction of characters
allows the reader to see how women are portrayed in society. One major interaction... Show more

personage who stood at her elbow (Poe 600). By acting on her weakness, the thief escaped
knowing her secrets. They preyed on her disadvantage in the situation. After being blackmailed
for countless months, ...the power thus attained has, for some months past, been wielded, for
political purposes, to a very dangerous extent, (Poe 600) she was left no choice but to rely on
others. She could not figure a way to fix the problem at hand. Eventually, she had to rely on a
man to help her, In fine, driven to despair, she has committed the matter to me (Poe 600). She
had no other option but to go to someone else. She had no more ideas, and she was left not
knowing what to do next. She had to rely on someone else, someone smarter and wiser than her.
She was not capable of rescuing her letter or herself. She could not save herself from the
possibility of her secret getting out. In this sense, character interactions caused the Royal Lady to
be portrayed as helpless and useless. Although both writings had a negative depiction of women, To
Kill a Mockingbird also represents another version of women and feminism. Scout s original
thoughts on women were derived from the thoughts of her brother and other people of the town. It

9. The Special Relationship Between The Uk And The United States
It was only because of the special relationship with the USA that Britain could exert an influence
on international affairs in the years 1951 to 2007. Assess the validity of this view.
The Special Relationship between the UK and the US relates to the unusually close relationship
between these two world powers that has developed over the 20th and 21st centuries. They have
an incredibly tight co operation on such a wide variety of things, ranging from trade and
economics to military power, nuclear weapons and intelligence; one that is almost unprecedented
in history for two separate nations. After the Second World War, when the relationship was
crystallised by the term it became one as much of personal friendships as of political power; and
given the closeness developed between the two nations as a result of wartime, it became a keystone
of post war politics in both countries, having significant impact in both of their subsequent histories,
and also those of other nations. Some of these relationships have been iconic in their pairings:
Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan; Tony Blairand George Bush; Churchill and Franklin
Roosevelt (who were in fact related); whilst others have been less fruitful Anthony Eden, a man

11. Reflective Essay On The Spectator Reflection
That just happens to be the title of the Spectator reflection I wrote in the aftermath of the Halloween
terrorist attack.
I had never thought that something I read in the news would so personally affect my life. Before,
the media was a layer that shielded me from the true horrors of terrorism. My mom s voice always
weakened when she talked about 9/11, but the sympathy and sadness I felt towards that event was
indirect and a result of society s impression of that tragic day.
Now, terrorism no longer hides behind the screen of my phone, or between the words of a New
York Times article. I saw the instrument of terror crash into an innocent school bus, I ve felt the
sheer panic that resulted from not knowing what s happening, and most importantly, I ve
experienced the sheer impact that a random act of terror can wreak on one s body both physically
and mentally.
I ll never forget the English classes we had on the days after the attack. Helicopters made an
ominous droning noise that permeated the entire room, my best friend was in tears, and I was on
the verge of a nervous breakdown. Who the fuck cared about Ragtime? The book was a
commentary on the past a simpler past that seemed enticing in the wake of the emotional trauma I
experienced on that day and nothing more. The gravity of the event I saw happen 50 feet in front
of me loomed over all my thoughts.
Doctorow proved me wrong, for Ragtime will forever be in my memory.

Henry Fairlie ventures that this galactic epidemic correlates to the transmission of immorality
throughout the world. Douglas Adamsutilizes satire and characterization to demonstrate how the
human condition is flawed. Furthermore, Henry Fairlie calls upon the archetypal seven deadly sins
to criticize human banality. Collectively, Adams s wittiness and Fairlie s bitterness encourage the

Essentially, Adams conveys that people are too worried about their financial status and forget to
enjoy life to its fullest. Money becomes a shackle and enslaves the people of planet Earth with
one of the seven deadly sins: greed. The internet dictionary of Princeton University defines greed
as excessive desire to acquire or possess more than one needs or deserves ( ). Henry Fairlie
agrees with this definition and offers an eloquent sentiment: The be all and end all of life should
not be to get rich, but to enrich the world (26). However, Fairlie s plea is unheard due to the
deafening materialism of modern society. It is a sad fact, but a fact nonetheless, that those who
want to enrich are less abundant than those who want to get rich. This phenomenon occurs because
wealth is more easily attainable than enrichment. Wealth requires one lucky day at the New York
Stock Exchange or the acquisition of an emerging franchise. Enrichment requires an acute mind
and patience because social change often takes generations to root in the minds of people. The
solution to both Adams and Fairlie s sinful society rests in patience. People should not try to
perform a lifetime of actions in a fraction of their lifetime. Adams then reveals the twisted prototype
for the space age hero through the character traits of Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect. Arthur was born

Are you serious? Girls are not just objects, they are human beings just like everyone else. That
disgusts me, are the thoughts I was having when I saw that Thailand has a total of around three
million sex workers in their country, and the number is increasing. Prostitution is legal but human
trafficking is not. How can we make prostitutionlegal and then not expect is to lead to more human
traffickingaround the world. Prostitution is the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual
activity with someone for payment. Usually when you think about prostitution you think about
out of the United States. But, now in the United States 1 out of 50 states have prostitution legal.
Nevada is the only state where prostitution is legal. But it is still going on in other states in the
United States. Prostitution was taken place, usually when a female needs money to support
herself or maybe even her family. But, now parents are starting their kids to be prostitutes at the
age of THIRTEEN! In Thailand, there are around three million people there are sex workers and
around one third are MINORS. Luckily, it is way harder to have minors in the United States then it
would be to have minors out of the country. Being a minor means that you are under the age of 18.
This is called prostitution of children or child prostitution meaning prostitution involving a child. It
is a form of commercial sexual exploitation of children. The term normally refers to prostitution of

The purpose of this essay is to explain on the relevancy of Emotional Intelligence in which of how
it is connected in organizational behavior. Emotional Intelligence (EQ) was first introduced to the
public in 1995 by a physiologist named Dr. Daniel Goleman, even other sources were aware that it
may have discussed earlier to date as of 1985. According to Goleman, Emotional Intelligenceis a
type of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor one s own and other s feeling and
emotions, to discriminate among them and to use this information to guide one s thinking and
actions. In the context of organizational behavior, the EQ principles provide a new way to
understand and assess people s behaviors, management styles, attitudes, interpersonal skills, and
potential. It plays an important consideration in human resources planning, job profiling,

intellectual intelligence in entirely based on the neocortex, the most recently evolved parts of the
brain. Emotional intelligence would depend much more on the emotional centers of the lower
brain, the more primitive sub cortex. Intelligence is the potential for learning something, and
technical skills learnt depend on the academic intelligence. Emotional competencies stem from the
emotional intelligence of each individual which later defined in structured proposal for the

Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho and Stephen King s The Shining both explore the theme of horror
through the use of the key techniques; characterisation, motifs, symbols and setting. The texts are
about psychologically disturbed protagonists and the events that they are involved in. Psycho was
published in 1960 whereas the Shiningwas published in 1977, both timeworn novels. In Psycho,
Bates is unable to contain the guilt of murdering is mother and therefore, murders those who he
feels sexually attracted to. However, in The Shining, Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer and
recovering alcoholic accepts a position to be caretaker of the Overlook Hotel with his wife and
son Danny. Danny s psychic powers allow him to see the hotel s horrific past, as the snowstorm
leads to the hotel becoming isolated, supernatural forces influence Jack s sanity and lead his family

Outsider Perspectives Into Trauma: Steve McQueen s Hunger (2008) The concept of trauma cinema
is problematic. There are issues which arise concerning the exploitation and misrepresentation of
trauma narratives. As a result, the notion of a filmmaker operating from a position outside of
trauma having any insight into trauma is contentious. The nature of trauma is such that it makes it
so that this is essentially an impossible task an outsider perspective being incapable of engaging in

I will argue instead that an outsider perspective is in fact an asset in trauma cinema, especially in
the case of a collective trauma. This is because in the case of a collective trauma, like national
conflict, there are lines of allegiances drawn and narratives which subsequently conform to these.
In other words, renarrativisation tends to affirm existing mythologies where trauma cinema
requires the rupturing of mythologies . (Beckett, 2001; 47) How this is facilitated can be in the
form of an outsider perspective, this which is able to move beyond the immediate scar tissue
(Beckett, 2001; 47), having been unencumbered by loyalties to a particular narrative or political
sympathy. An outsider perspective can reveal new perspectives this being the aim of trauma
cinema. In this way an outsider perspective can be an asset, it being able to engage in multiples
sides to a conflict, with disregard to politicised narratives which hinder from progress. Through this
type of cinematic experience, a traumatised individual is allowed to critically work through an
experience of trauma, this process facilitated by the insight of the filmmaker who operates from a

20. Examples Of Grip In Softball
How to Grip the Ball
Proper grip is very crucial when holding a softball bat as well as the softball. The way you hold
the ball will determine the accuracy and speed you can apply to it. Every softball players should
understand how to grip the ball and practice the techniques.
The most usual type of grip is called the four seam grip. It is when the ball rotates in one full
rotation or from top to bottom, making the four seams visible and will travel parallel to the
ground. This will allow you to throw the ball o a better path and gives it a good spin to add more
velocity. https://pixabay.com/en/softball leather glove recreation 340491/ However, some softball

22. F 2014 McDonalds 2
McDonald s Faces Millennial Challenge by: Julie Jargon
Aug 25, 2014
TOPICS: Change; Competitive Positioning
SUMMARY: McDonald s is losing its luster with younger consumers. Customers in their 20s and
30s are defecting to competitors, in particular so called fast casual restaurants like Chipotle
Mexican Grill and gourmet burger chain Five Guys. Younger diners are seeking out fresher,
healthier food and chains that offer customizable menu options for little more than the price of a

company also is trying to enhance its credibility with young customers by marketing more on

The millennial generation has a wider range of choices than any generation before them,

23. James Brown Monument Dbq
In today s society, we try to remember every little thing that happens, from the first day of school
to the graduation of college. One of the ways we try to remember things is through photos.
However, photos and just natural memory are not enough. In our lives extraordinary events are
done by extraordinary people, and tragedies strike our nation. Those people and events deserve to
get recognized by more than a simple photo or a hazy memory. The process that is used to select a
memorialare proper place, sensitivity of memorial, materials used, and the design itself.
A major question to ask is if the monument is being put in the proper place. Would you want a statue
of George Washington in the middle of a Native American Reserve? I think not. Having the proper
place is essential to making sure that the person/event is being respected properly. A great example
of this is the James Brown Statue that is located in downtown Augusta. It is placed in the walkway

the whole reason they wanted to get rid of it is purely based on how they feel, and there appears to
be no other apparent reason. Another example is Mount Rushmore, yes the great Mount Rushmore.
Before Mount Rushmore, that land belonged to the Sioux (Native Americans). They were driven
from their land. That mountain is considered sacred and holy to them. The American people have
just defaced the property that initially belonged to them. How do you think they felt? They would

24. Chin The Largest Economy
At present, China is the largest economy in the world, overtaking the US in January 2015. It is
also the world s second largest oil consumer behind the US (Chen 2015) and the world s largest net
importer of crude oil (Dunn 2014). Its net importer status was driven by steady economic growth,
with rapidly rising Chinese petroleumdemand outpacing production growth (EIA 2014). China is
also the fourth largest oil producing country in the world (Refer to Appendix ___).
The growth in the developing nation s economy over the past 3 decades was heavily dependent on
its low cost advantage compared to those of other countries. During this period of growth, foreign
companies flocked to China to set up production facilities and factories to capitalize on this cost
advantage. Raw materials are shipped to China, where factory workers build the final products and
export them out to various countries (Wassener 2014).
However, recently, china s economy has experienced a significant slowdown due to the shift in
growth of the nation to rely more on private enterprise and domestic consumption. This shift in
economy reduces its demand for industrial raw materials for manufacturing, which translates to a
decrease in demand of oil for use in production plants. A survey of China s industrial heartland
identified decreases in key areas of new orders, export orders and output prices (Letts 2015).
Furthermore, being the world s second largest consumer of oil, this move that China makes will

Webster s Duchess of Malfi as a Revenge Tragedy
A revenge tragedy is one in which the tragedy is brought about by the pursuit and accomplishment
of revenge. In other words, its blood asking for blood. The revenge tragedy was very popular
during the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods, and it owned its popularity largely to the influence of
Seneca, the ancient Roman dramatist. Revenge tragedy is different from other tragedies in the
sense that the whole part of the tragedy will be based on revenge. In Shakespeare s Macbeth,
though Macduff kills Macbeth to avenge the killing of his family, the play can t be called a
revenge tragedy as Macbeth himself is responsible for his own tragic end. The Duchess of Malfi by

There is no ghost but the echo from the Duchess tomb fulfils one of the functions of the ghost of
revenge tragedy. The voice warns a doomed man of his danger and, at the same time, reveals the
unknown fact of its own death. The play is sometimes ridiculed by modern critics for the
excessive violence and horror. The severed hands of dead Antonio, the wax figures of the Duchess
children, dance of the mad men, the appearance of the tomb maker, and the executioner with all the
apparatus of death bring in the elements of horror in the play. In a typical revenge play, the
protagonist directs his revenge towards an unjust action, but the vengeance is followed by a
series of retributions, which ultimately lead to the death of many characters. The Duchess,
Anotonio, Cardinal, Ferdinand, Julia, Bosola etc are all murdered for revenge. Though it begins
as a love story it ends as a dreadful tragedy. The violence and the horror scenes give it the touch it
needs to be a revenge tragedy. Though all the main characters are dead order is restored at the
end. The Antonio s eldest son is raised to the throne giving a sign of hope to the spectators after all

28. Intentional Torts And False Punishment
Introduction This week we have been introduced to intentional torts, including battery, assault,
trespass of land, trespass of chattels, conversion and false imprisonment. Most of us are blind to
tortious acts, yet they are clearly occurring around us. This class will, in part, give us an attorney
s awareness of torts in the real world. In 2005 there were 2,012 intentional torts, slander/libel,
false arrest/imprisonment, and conversion claims in state courts. (Thomas H. Cohen) Many
more torts are too minor to ever result in a lawsuit. Below, I will discuss intentional torts that I
have experienced or which may occur in my daily life. Assault I commute into the city on the
MBTA commuter rail several days a week. It is typically an orderly, quiet ride. However, winter
delays cause extreme overcrowding that makes otherwise reasonable riders irritable.
Unavoidable bumping and jostling occurs but does not constitute a tort. However, not long ago

to move me out of the way himself. I had no place to go and I was certainly in fear (or
apprehension, rather) that he would push, shove or otherwise place his hands on me. Restatement

harmful or offensive contact with the person of the other or a third person, or an imminent
apprehension of such a contact, and (b) the other is thereby put in

Many people have differing views when discussing the legality of medicinal marijuana. Some say
the drug should not be turned over to the public via prescription because it is too harmful. These
people, however, have not considered all the advantageous potential that legalization will aid in the
state of Tennessee. The great state of Tennessee should legalize medicinal marijuana because it is a
great painkiller, it is not addictive like other prescription Pharmaceuticals, and because government
intervention would aid in marijuana s safe distribution to the public. It is hard to imagine the day to
day pain that a cancer patient endures, but one can imagine that any type of relief would be invited
from the victim and their families. These poor individuals suffer throughout the day, and
unfortunately are in so much discomfort that attempting to live an ordinary life is virtually
impossible. Providing people in these conditions with something that will help is almost a no

35. Exploring The Potential For Addiction
On line gaming has grown a great deal in the last decade, connecting players in countries around
the world. World of Warcraft is perhaps the best known massively multiplayer online roleplaying
game (MMORPG). These games are incredibly immersive and generally have no real ending, with
players able to continue the game indefinitely via expansions and new content being added. A pilot
study by Hussain and Griffiths (2009) set out to explore the potential for addictionto an MMORPG,
within its psychological and psychosocial effects on players. Generally, studies of MMORPGs
have not had a specific focus on addiction or the psychology of on line gaming (as cited in Hussain
Griffiths, 2009).
At the time of their study, it was estimated that there were five million online gamers worldwide
(as cited in Hussain Griffiths, 2009). According to the statistical analysis site Statista, as of 2013
approximately 144.9 million people worldwide are active daily players of online games, an increase
of almost 3000 percent. Hussain and Griffiths note that playing an MMORPG can become an
escape from a player s real life, and a substitute for the social interactions involved in reality.
Therefore, the importance of studying MMORPG s potential for addiction, and research regarding
possible pathology, is even more relevant.

striking advantages over the conventional compression techniques[51, 52, 97, 116], which can be
summarized as follows: (I) The generated electron pulse duration is limited only by the gating laser
pulse duration which could be in the order of attosecond time scale[20]. But, the nanostructure

39. Analysis of Arguments for the Slavery Institution
Analysis of Arguments for the Slavery Institution
The foundation of this paper will highlight the following questions: How might southern
apologists for slavery have used the northern wage slave discussed in the last chapter to justify
slavery? To what extent do you agree with this argument? How did slaves use religious belief and
kinship to temper their plight? Did this strategy play into the hands of slaveholders? How were
non slaveholding whites and free people of color affected by the institution of slavery?
From the perspective of a slave owner, slavery may be paradise when compared to wage slavery .
Wage slaves had to work in order to survive just like a slave, but in the case of a wage slave , the
pay, no doubt, was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument was presented very well. The argument of the slave owners compared the
treatment of southern slaves with laborers of the south, known as wage slaves . However,
whether the argument is true or not is another thing. The slave owners claimed to treat the slaves
equally and care for them, but did they really do that, or were they somewhat harsh to the slaves?
If they cared about their slaves so much, why didn t they have a problem splitting up the families
and loved ones in the slave communities? Yes, the argument of the slave owners is pretty good,
but when you look at the entire picture and take a peek into the real world of slavery, you have no
choice but to question the declaration of the slave owners southern hospitality .
Evidently, slavery wasn t as nice as slave owners claimed it to be. My reason for declaring the
previous statement is the following: If slavery upholds the status or conditions that a slave owners
claims it to contain so well, then why do slaves have to turn to religion, Christianity in particular, to
temper their plight or in English, soften their troubles? In the previous statement, the answer to the
question was given. Christians turned to Christianity to criticize slavery and seek a better life after
death.
In the case of non slaveholding whites, they somewhat envied the slaveholders. Over two thirds of
whites did not own slaves, making the

However, while all of the Smolinsky daughters fall in love with a man, the father disagrees with
all of their choices and does not let them marry causing sadness in each of the daughters lives.
The father chooses a man for his older daughter and forces them to marry and throughout the
book, Reb Smolinsky gives preachings to his children about God, and what women are
supposed to do for their man. Reb is culturally acclimated throughout this book because even
though he has been accepted in the society and has been part of it for a long time, he does not
stop practicing his religious beliefs and keeps on studying the Holy Torah and continues to give
preachings to his family. Although he marries off most of his daughters to the man of his
choice, Reb Smolinsky fails to fully achieve his goal because his youngest daughter Sara, who is
also the protagonist, decides to chose her own path in life and refuses to marry the man of her
father s choice. This causes a father daughter conflict which leads to Reb disowning Sara. As the
two family members argue, Reb says How came you ever to be my

The intelligence scores of identical twins reared together are more similar than those of fraternal
twins. Brain scan also reveals that identical twins have similar volume to their brain s gray matter,
and those areas associated with verbal and spatial intelligence. Because many genes influence
intelligence, it is said to be polygenetic. The intelligencetest score of fraternal twins are more alike
than the intelligence test scores of other siblings. This provides evidence of an environmental
effect because fraternal twins, being the same age, are treated more alike. Studies of adopted
children and their adoptive and biological families demonstrate that with age, genetic influences
scores are more like those of their biological parents than their adoptive... Show more content on

Although normal brain development can be retarded by sensory, social isolation, and deprivation,
there is no sure environment that will transform a normal baby into a genius. Explain why heredity
many contribute to individual differences in intelligence but not necessarily contributes to group
differences. The amount of variation in a trait within a group that is attributed to genetic factors is
called its heritability. For intelligence, this has been estimated at 50 percent. If we know a trait has
perfect heritability, this knowledge does not enable us to rule out environmental factors in
explaining differences between groups. Because of the impact of environmental factors such as
education and nutrition on intelligence test performance, even if the heritability of intelligence is
high within a particular group, differences in intelligence among groups may be environmentally
caused. One group may, for example, thrive in an enriched environment while another of the same
genetic predisposition may falter in an impoverished

45. Concentration Camp Auschwitz Essay
Hitler s infamous concentration camp Auschwitz became well known as one of the most brutal
camps of the Holocaust. However, it was more than just an excruciating death center. It was a
place where German SS and Nazi officers broke prisoners mentally and physically. Millions of
innocent lives came to an end there. Considered one of the worst concentration camps ever,
Auschwitz was known for its methodical organization, horrendous treatment of prisoners, and an
atrocious death toll. Auschwitz was made up of three camps including Auschwitz I, Auschwitz II
Birkenau, and Auschwitz III Monowitz. Auschwitz I and Monowitz were labor camps where the
SS forced prisoners to do strenuous amounts of work. Birkenau was notoriously known as the
main extermination camp and held the biggest number of Auschwitz prisoners by far. Germans
have claimed these camps were made for three reasons. To overpower the enemy, give the SS free
labor forces, and to have a site to kill people that went against their dictator s regime. As Auschwitz
grew, the Nazi s constructed more than forty sub camps within the three main camps. Auschwitz
began being built in 1940, in Oswiecim, Poland. The Nazi s didn t waste any time after that to
start deporting prisoners there. By 1941, Auschwitz s operation already had 10,000 Jews in their
barracks. That number only grew and grew with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Germans also died by either gas chambers, executions, starvation, or while traveling to Auschwitz.

I was a huge fan of Los Burritos Tapatios and it was the greatest burrito place I tried. As you first
enter the store you are met by friendly staff and the smell of chicken and steak on the grill. Then
you are asked to order at a very fair price of $6.75. Then you are seated and given complimentary
chips with salsa (which are delicious I might add). After 5 minutes, you are served the chicken
burrito as it is fresh off the grill. As you take the first bite you are out sounded at the flavor of the
chicken as it is smoky and crispy, the tomatoes which add to the acidity of the burrito, and finally
the soft flour tortilla which practically melts in your mouth. After the initial mouth you take a bite
of the burrito with salsa and are amazed that
