Making English Official Language
In the Don t Make English Official Ban It Instead originally published in the Washington Post, Dennis
Baron analyzes the fact that making English the official language of the United States will not stop
people from speaking other languages. The author proves his point through the proposal of banding
English. In this short review, I will discuss not just what was written, but how the examples, and
analysis help make the author s point. I will conclude by telling what questions I had at the end, as a
reader, and where or what I would research to answer those questions.
Baron starts with one of the most controversial legislations that the Congress has considered, making
English the official language of the United States. In order to unite the nation and save money from
translating documents to other languages. Shortly after the author shows the that today over ninety
seven percent of the people in the US speak English without the need of such legislation, and how
many of the immigrants today are learning English at a fast rate. Reminding the reader of the current
movement of encouraging everyone to be bilingual will bring great benefits in the future.

benefits of having a wider variety of languages in the country. Although there are many benefits
having many different languages in the country, what type of benefits will the country obtained by
having English as the official language? Will it actually united the people more? Or will it make it fall

Aristotle And Heidegger s Views On What A Human Or Beings...
Aristotle and Heidegger have conflicting views on what a human or beings are. Although, there are
some similarities to each of their set of ideas. Aristotle has a clear hierarchical framework classifying
the differences between humans, animals, and plants. Heidegger opposes this strict definitions by
discussing this idea of Dasein which states of being there. Although, their approaches to this topic are
different with the types of question one asks and how they theorize about what is a being. There is key
similarities that they discuss almost two thousand years apart. Aristotle and Heidegger are two
philosophers that have tackled the enormous question, what is it to be a being? This paper discusses
the two different approaches to defining this long standing question. Aristotle asks many what
questions when talking about what is a living being. He discusses us as a specific type of animals and
how it relates to animals, plants and nonliving things. There is an hierarchy when discussing the
differences between these things. For instance, all living things can ensouled destructible mobile
substances. This means, all living substances can die and their body can disintegrate when no soul is
in them. The essential features of being an animal is that it has a soul but not a rational soul compared
to a human being. As stated in Arwin and Fine (1996), An animal is a living item that has perception.

Supervisor Reflection
What a term this has been. I have learned so much over this summer. I always felt in my heart that I
wanted to be a supervisor for incoming clinicians and this course has solidified my passion. Since
ones professional development is a lifelong process. I think the supervisor and supervisee relationship
is essential for professional growth. Personally I know that every supervisor in my career has left a
lasting impression and contributed to my professional development because of their dedication to
training, supervising, and teaching me all that they could. As a result I did not want to provide my
students with poor supervision and I wanted them to have my knowledge and expertise and pitfalls. I

us that I wanted to be insure I created space for my supervisees to not only reflect and process their
feelings and biases but also to practice and ask questions about working with clients of diverse
populations that may be impacted directly or indirectly by the current events sweeping our nation. It is
important that we not just discuss being culturally competent and inclusive but that we have real
conversations and practices regarding these and other aspects of diversity, pluralism and inclusion. I
am also a big believer in self care and not only talking about it but practicing what I preach so it was
important we discuss and create space for giving each other emotional support through reassurance
and encouragement. Overall, I had a great experience and I learned valuable lessons supervising and
being supervised. A peer even approached me this week from our course and said you know I really
appreciate your supervisor style and I would hire you in a second as a supervisor. That was really nice
to hear and while I know there is so much more to learn I am looking forward to joining other
supervisors in helping support and shape our future professional psychologist

The Role Of Religion In The English Colonies
Religion s Role in the Development of the English Colonies
Religion is one of the fundamental aspects of society. Unfortunately, it is also one of the sparks that
can start a war and revolutionize the way we think and certain civilizations traditions. For example,
before the Spaniards came to the Central and Southern Americas the Incas had their own religion, but
once they were conquered they were forced to convert to Christianity. The Incans had to abandon their
way of life and traditions or face punishment. This, along with the near extinction of the race, caused
them to lose their beliefs over time. On the other side, religion can also lead to the birth of a new
civilization different from the rest, the Americans . Unlike other countries, the United States is a
melting pot where people of different ethnic backgrounds, faiths, lifestyles, cultures, and races come
together. And this is where it all started.
In 1492, Christopher Columbus reached the Americas on the orders of King Ferdinand and Queen
Isabella of Spain. King Ferdinand sent him to claim land and riches for Spain, while Queen Isabella
requested that he help spread Christianity. From then on, many missionaries were sent to convert the
Natives. This is one example of how religion shaped the Americas.
King Henry the Eighth divorced his wife and switched England s religion to the Protestant Church in
1534 when he renounced the pope (as the head of the church). After some time, the Catholics were

Raise A Murderer
How to Raise a Murderer
My childhood memory of catapult bird hunting and fish spearing were rewinding simultaneously as I
was reading the Jungle Book and the Tarzan of the Apes. I assume it was the adventure and the thrill
of catching and then eating what you catch experiences that have made them memorable. Those
childhood adventures, however, are not comparable to the ghastly adventures of Mowgli and Tarzan
had they been real. Would I want to have such experiences? With so much killing and violence, I
would rather have them stay in my imagination. Recognizing a numerous acts of killing in both texts, I
believe they signify the role of environment in creating violence, as well as its gruesome kill or be

For them, their ideas and ideals of men and masculinity were constructed within the values, beliefs
and traditions of a society deeply steeped in violent political conflict (18). The characters in the Jungle
Book and Tarzan stories are depicting what Harland and McCready call as the fear of appearing
unmanly (19) like showing emotion and act gentle. A crying men will be seen as gays and incapable of
protecting their weaker counterparts; women. The only moment that men seemed to be allowed to
express his emotion is when a family member dies ( Harland and McCeady 20). Throughout the story,
Tarzan has never been depicted as emotionally vulnerable. Tarzan s most emotional moment came
when he found his gorilla s mother , Kala, lie dead. He beat upon his great chest with his clenched
fists, and then he fell upon the body of Kala and sobbed out the pitiful sorrowing of his lonely heart
(Burroughs 91). Mowgli, in , however, was portrayed as a cheerful, intelligent young boy, who,

Concentration Camps Of The Second Anglo-Boer War
One of many forms of oppression the British practiced during the Second Anglo Boer War was the use
of concentration camps. Both blacks and whites were placed in the camps, and were required to
perform unpaid labor. However, the black and white camps were segregated, and the treatment of the
inmates in the black concentration camps was vastly different from the white camps. Less rations were
given, and less maintenance was performed on the camps, leading to starvation and poor living
conditions. Even after the war, when the white concentration camps had been transferred to civilian
control, the black concentration camps still remained under military command (Pretorius). Though
many Boers and British believed the war to be a white man s war , blacks continued to be segregated
and oppressed in order to profit off of their labor and gain advantage in battle. Many blacks fought on
the side of the British, believing they would receive education and more economic opportunities with
a victory by England ( Role ). Regardless of what side the natives took, the eventual outcomes of the
war still prevented them from reaching true equality with the soldiers they fought with at the turn of
the twentieth century. Subtle rules and regulations were implemented as a treaty between the English
and Boers prevented blacks from ever escaping the European induced living conditions. The
stipulation in the Treaty of Vereeniging that schools continue to teach in Dutch, and conduct court in

Syria Case Study
For almost a decade Syria has not enjoyed peace. The war in Syria has polarized countries in the
Middle East, Europe and the America. The war has led to countries taking sides depending on the
interests of their leaders and the country as a whole. In the process countries from Europe, America
and Asia have entered into a union that they deem fit to promote their agendas (G. Friedman 2017).
This union is what is now known as the axis 1 geopolitics. Even though the countries may have
different individual agendas they have common goals as a group. Their obligations as a group, are
considered to outweigh the personal goals. Moreover, the individual goals can be achieved through
achieving the group goals (G. Friedman 2017).

The uniting factor among these states is the fact that they want to control the nuclear plants within Iran
(T. Friedman 2017).
For any war to take place there must be an enemy or an opponent. On the other side of there is the
Russian republic, China, Iran, and Syria. This is the so called axis 2 countries. These countries hate the
neo colonialization practiced by the United States of America. They hate the fact that the United States
has imposed itself as the leader and savior of the whole world. To balance the power, China and
Russia have continuously used their veto power to shut down United States initiatives, such as
embargos and trade banns on their allies (T. Friedman 2017). Russia and China seek to move away
from the shadow of the so called big brother. In doing so they have initiated financial programs that
will enable them to stop using the famous dollar in trade. In fact, the Russian apex bank has stopped
including the dollar in its forex trading (G. Friedman 2017).
The union is angered by the United States behavior of being the judge and executioner in their human
and democracy issues. They are against the toppling of governments as these lead to instability and
creates a power vacuum that has always lead to massive losses. Except in Tunisia the other countries
that experienced the infamous Arab uprising, have not had any meaningful peace. Learning from these
experiences, Russia and China wants to maintain the stability in

Some People Like Poetry
Europe Paper Elton Pope states, When you re a kid, they tell you it s all... Grow up, get a job, get
married, get a house, have a kid, and that s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that.
It s so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better . Throughout one s personal timeline,
events in which occur in what seems like random happenstance are actually what help to shape one
into the person they are destined to be. Times like these are often known as stepping stones , and take
place in each individual s lives. The cycle of life withholds three major events in which are touched

Finding yourself and one s individuality is apart of each person s journey throughout life. In the poem
Some People Like Poetry , the narrator gives an obvious statement of being who you are. [B]ut then,
you can like chicken noodle soup, or compliments, or the color blue, your old scarf, your own way,
petting the dog (489). Despite the like and dislikes, sense of who you are is a large portion of every
person s life. Being smacked abruptly by reality is unfortunate, yet a very relatable experience taken
on by all people. The narrator from Ars Poetica! shows the struggle with finding that the world is not
exactly what was expected of it. And yet the world is different from what it seems to be and we are
other than how we see ourselves (493). With overcoming and accepting disappointments in life, we as
people develop into more rational beings. Author Szymborska, expresses the realization of human
alikeness through her quote, [M]ortal a hundred out of a hundred. Thus far this figure still remains
unchanged (491). Much growth to better ourselves is allowed after having experiencing finding your
individuality, and acceptance of others and the world. Though a positive outcome may come from
dealing with these milestones, facing death has much more of a skeptical impact on a

Review Of Vampire Bats
1. Vampire bats give blood to unrelated vampire bats for several reasons. Among the reasons are the
cost sharing of blood, the benefit of sharing blood and the probability that the bats that were given
blood will in turn reciprocate and give blood to other bats at a later date. The cooperative equilibria in
blood sharing among bats means that the sharing of blood will occur if the benefits of sharing blood
multiplied by the probability that blood sharing will be beneficial in the future is greater than the cost
of sharing blood. If a bat shares blood with another bat (even an unrelated bat), the bat that is the
recipient is expected to donate blood to other bats at a larger rate than it received at a later time.
A donor bat will give blood to a bat that has not had a meal so that this bat can have the opportunity to
hunt again, giving an increased chance that it will reciprocate to another bat that has not had a meal,
enabling the roost to maintain survival. In the event that a recipient bat does not reciprocate in the
future, that bat will not be donated to if it needs it in the future, thus allowing for recipient bats to be
donor bats in the future as needed.
2. In the Berg, Dickhaut and McCabe (1995) study, factors that influence the likelihood of trust in
economic transactions is a fundamental assumption that individuals act in their own self interest which

Wallstreet the Movie
The movie Wall Street is a representation of poor morals and disappointing business ethics in the
popular world of business. This movie shows the negative effects that bad business morals can have
on society. The two main characters are Bud Fox played by Charlie Sheen and Gordon Gekko played
by Michael Douglas. Bud Fox is a young stockbroker who comes from an honest working class family
but on the other hand, Gordon Gekko is a millionaire who Bud admires and wants to be associated
with. Greed seems to be a huge theme of this movie. This movie portrays the unethical society we live

Then along with contacts obtained from Bud s years as a stockbroker the shares of Blue Star soar.
When they reach a peak Bud has everyone sell including this investor and Gordon Gekko panics as he
watches his shares of Blue Star drop like a rock. He sells quickly and takes a big loss. However this
changes when Gekko decides to do a corporate raid on Fox s father s company. At this point Bud Fox
must choose between the rich insider s lifestyle offered by working outside the law, or his father s
more traditional blue collar values of fair play and hard work. He chooses to try and preserve the latter
by utilizing what he has learned from Gekko.
To achieve this Bud uses a business rival to break the deal, being indicted for insider trading in the
process. He gets his last revenge by turning state s evidence against Gekko, going to jail himself in the
process.
It is in ones opinion that the movie Wall Street shows the very importantance of the value of
information. If inside information is used to predict stock outcomes it becomes unfair and unjust to
persons without the information. That s why it is illegal. You should not be able to manipulate the
market with information that is not open to the public. The film also showed what can happen if you
practice poor ethics when conducting business, practicing good business ethics helps to accomplish
your goals. Wall Street shows just what can happen

Conch In Lord Of The Flies Symbolism Essay
Dylan Silverstein Mrs. Jackson Period 3 December 1, 2014 Symbolism of the Lord of the Flies
Symbolism is using an object to that is being represented by a symbol. It is a creative way to describe

importance of an object in the story and will help readers get into the book more. In the story Lord of

they thought would be the most effective in keeping them alive. In the United States they choose

Persuasive Essay On The SAT
It all started back in 1926 when the first SAT was administered to high school students. The Scholastic
Aptitude Test (SAT) is a test dreaded by high school students, given to them spring of junior year. It s
goal is to academically test students to see if they would be a good fit in that certain college and play a
role in admissions. More and more schools have been finding that the SAT provides neither an
accurate nor helpful view of its applicants (Flore) . Over time it s becoming more accepted that the
SAT doesn t show the students ability. In the U.S. there are already 850 colleges that are SAT optional,
meaning that they don t require test scores in admissions. Grade point average and AP tests showcase
the students academic skill more. Colleges should get rid of the reliance on SAT scores in admissions.
It s been proven that these test taking abilities don t properly gauge a student s ability to perform. The
tests center is math and english, but with so much content it can be hard for a student to study. It s not
like a regular quiz in class where the student knows the exact material. WIth the SAT having influence
on college admissions students feel like they can move their grades to the bottom of their priorities.
According to a study done by Princeton, it found that going SAT optional would result in classes of
students with higher grade point averages, Dropping testing entirely, on the other hand, would result in
higher levels of academic achievement in the

Notes On Sherlock Holmes And The Scientific Community
Within the scientific community some people believe that you cannot have a scientific mind and hold
to religious beliefs (p. 87). They come to this assumption because they see religious faith as a form of
mental illness, which is limited to a certain population (religious people only) (p. 72).2 When
reasoning logically one most understand that not all things can be proven wrong or right. Sometimes
things do not lend themselves to a right or a wrong answer. However a person can see where a line of
thought leads too, which delivers a person to a certain conclusion even though it may not be a right or

An endless series of causes and events does not make sense. This would mean a continual causal loop
which cannot exist, nor could a causal chain of infinite length exist without there being something to
first cause the loop to begin. This would require some kind of unrestricted or ultimate being which we
Christians and some philosophers call God.
The Apostle Paul speaks about natural revelation in Romans 1:20 and Albert Einstein alludes to
natural revelation3 when he says, I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but
expressed it clearly. If there is something in me called religious then it is the unbounded admiration
for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it. With natural revelation we see that one
can logically construct the belief in a God by simply observing the things present in nature.
The prevalent acceptance that the universe had a chronological origin meaningfully shifted the stance
in favor of belief in a first cause or an intelligent designer of the universe, which caused the universe
to appear (Pg. 84).2 Many scientist hold to the theory that the universe is continually moving out away
from a central focus point. What is this central focal point? Christians can point to this being the
creator or the creation form which God created the universe Ex nihilo.

Effectiveness Of A Competitive Market Environment
From the past until present, in order to achieve competitive advantage to compete in turbulence and
highly competitive market environment, the one who take control over the organisation should design
powerful strategies. To create that strategies, managers need both good understanding in internal and
external environment, and effective managerial skill to organise sophisticate works arising in
organisational routine systematically. The one who assigned as manager has power to control over
company resources which included human being. Human can be considered as one of the most
valuable resources in the company because value can be added to them through education and
experience. However, human could be considered as the most complicate resource. This is because
they have personal needs, ambition, and feeling which are different between one to others. Unlike
machines or other type of assets that similarly designed to do specific jobs, stereotype should not be

Cons * Corporations often use sinking funds to purchase back bonds, thus shorting the length of
interest payments for the bondholder/investor, which losses potential money. * Companies also have
the ability to purchase back bonds at a discount or par value, which is less than market value. So in
essence, companies wait for interest rates go down, which in effect increases the value of the bond. *
Creates a lot of ambiguity amongst investors. It becomes of game of beat the Interest rate clock, in
that you are uncertain as to when your bonds are going to be purchased back from the company, thus
never knowing the duration of your investment and the extent of your interest payments/profit.

information to guide one s thinking and actions . They also provided an initial empirical
demonstration of how an aspect of emotional intelligence could be measured as a mental ability

The Role Of Protein And Carbohydrate Utilisation During...
Introduction
Post exercise nutrition, especially protein, plays an important role of the training regimen amongst
athletic population. Post exercise nutrition is used to improve performance and enhance the body s
recovery process following exercise. This review will focus on the role of protein and carbohydrate
utilisation post exercise and there effects on protein synthesis. Anabolic and catabolic processes are
controlled by the neuroendocrine system in response to training. Resistance training produces a
catabolic state, in which the muscle proteins are broken down. During recovery an anabolic state
predominately takes over leading to muscle repair and growth (Plowman Smith, 2014). The
macronutrient protein has grasped attention during the recovery phase of exercise. Protein plays
multiple important roles throughout the entire body, regulating every chemical reaction and used in the
structural tissue within the human body (Brown, Miller Eason, 2006). Supplementary protein offers
three main common types of complete protein; whey, casein and egg. These complete proteins differ
in the role of recovery post exercise (Campbell Spano, 2011). The macronutrients protein and
carbohydrates have their own functions within the body but work together to generate an anabolic
state within the body when ingested post exercise (Poole, Wilborn, Taylor Kerksick, 2010).

The main function of protein is a regulator, including the actions of some hormones,

Non Medical Sex Selection Should Be Legal
Non medical sex selection is currently illegal in New Zealand under section 11 of the Human Assisted
Reproductive Technology (HART) Act 2004. The purpose of the Act is to secure the benefits of
assisted reproductive procedures, while also protecting and promoting the health, safety and dignity,
particularly of women and children, in the use of these procedures. The Act follows the principles
under section 4 to protect the health and wellbeing of the children and women involved (s 4(a) and
(c)), and to respect Maori and other ethical, spiritual, and cultural perspectives in society (s 4(f) and
(g)). There are currently many arguments regarding non medical sex selection and whether or not it
should be legal. This paper outlines why legal reform is warranted in NZ.
The UK s Human Fertilisation and Embryology Association (HFEA) uses the harm principle in
regulating reproductive technologies. John Stuart Mill (1956) stated that, the only purpose for which
power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to
prevent harm from others ; meaning that regulation should only intervene when something is
significantly harmful to others. There must remain a realm of private morality and immorality that is
not the law s business (reference). The harm principle is not relevant in the context of sex selection
because of Partif s non identity paradox; there is no harm to a child born of sex selection because had
sex selection not been used

Professor Faden s Copyright Violation
To the jury of the court, let me start off by stating i m the lawyer of the defendant, Professor Faden.
Professor Faden has been accused of infringing the copyright of Disney Studio.
During fair use trials judges are supposed to at least these four factors 1. The purpose of the use 2. The
nature of the work used 3. The amount and sustainability of the original work used 4. The effect on the
market of the original, as well as the overall purposes of copyright law. Before we get into this deeply

During this film Faden tends to keep the sustainability accurate, he uses the same movies and sections
of each movie over and over again, and he keeps the amount he uses sustainable. He put bits and
pieces of the same clips over and over again, never once did he use the clips longer than 10 seconds.
So according to the third factor Faden did nothing wrong by using the video clips.
Faden used his work on this video for a nonprofit educational purpose of his students, so in this case
he did not violate factor four. To the creators of the disney work, if he did anything it was provide

Survivor s Guilt In The Seventh Man By Haruki Murakami
Thousands of people are injured or killed every year during natural disasters. Many people may argue
about whether people should feel survivor s guilt or not after going through a life/death situation.
Survivor s guilt is when a person has went through a life/death situation and feel guilty about
surviving. Survivors of a life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt
One reason survivors of life and death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it can keep
you from healing. In the short story The seventh man written by Haruki Murakami in paragraph 47 it
states ....didn t get married another example is in paragraph 48 Didn t go back for 40 years . This
shows that feeling guilty about his life/death situations made his life miserable until he realises it wasn
t a big deal. This proves that, in the end survivor s guilt shouldn t affect someone who went through a
life and death situation because it wasn t their fault for wanting to live.
Another reason why survivors of life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it is
illogical. This is explained in the anchor text The moral logic of survivor guilt by Nancy Sherman. In
paragraph 5 it states We often take responsibility in a way the goes beyond what we can be held
responsible. This shows that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

life much harder due to it reminding the victim of there terrible tragedy. This proves that survivors

The Effect Of Culture On Consumer Behaviour
In international market, understanding consumer needs and desired is extremely important to the
corporation in order to market their products and services properly into the market. Consumer
behaviour is a process in where individuals or groups select, buy, use and dispose of the products and
services to satisfy their needs and desires. The organisation simply cannot understand consumption
unless they consider its cultural context, as culture shows how people view leads to their acceptance.
Therefore, the effect of culture on consumer behaviour is powerful. This paper will discuss in more
details about that and further consider whether culture has the greatest influence on consumer
behaviour.
Culture has a complex concept that numerous of researchers talk about in different views. Cultures is
defined as a complex whole that includes of knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other
capabilities and habits acquired by a member of the society (Hollensen, 2013). Culture provides the
important background of an individual that offer direction and guidance to its members in all phases
of life. Besides, Sojka and Tansuhaj describe culture as a dynamic set of socially obtains the member
of a particular society s behaviours, with the key element of language, artefacts, belief and values
(Sojka and Tansuhaj, 1995). There are three main characteristics of culture stated on Hollensen s
(2013) book: culture is learned, interrelated and shared. The tangible aspects of culture

Jesus Change
During class time, we learned about Jesus s impact on people. Many people were changed a lot. They
became kinder and more friendly. We could see this through people s reactions to God and the good
things they did. Through Jesus s teaching, not only Paul and people in the Bible, but every Christian is
becoming better people.
Among all the apostles, the change from Saul to Paul is the most amazing one for me. The name Saul
was once a deadly word for the citizens under Saul s control. He hated Christians at first. He arrested
and even killed a lot of apostles. Evil and cruel are the two words that best described him. He was a
demon before he was changed by Jesus.
In Acts 9, Saul was completely changed. When he went into the city of Damascus, ... Show more

When Jesus appeared in front of him and told him that he needed to save Saul, he hesitated. His
hesitation reflected the evilness of Saul. God chose Ananias because of his pure faith. The evilness
that stopped a faithful apostle from obeying God s order must be huge. It indirectly showed how bad
Saul was and how huge the change was as well. The reaction of Ananias is an important element in
here. Saul s changes were unbelievable. He was such an evil killer three days ago. No one could
imagine that three days later, he became a true believer of Jesus. Jesus purified his soul. This made
him act like a savior. All the sins were washed away. He became a faithful follower in Jesus and God.
The bible talked a lot about his faith after being healed. In Acts 21, Paul was arrested by the Jews. He
was with the people that grabbed him. After he turned to Jesus, he showed his faith towards God. He
could have been with the persecutors and keep looking for Christians. However, he gave up the life he
was used to and changed all his characteristics. Acts 22 described the things he did after he was
released. He said, I was very serious about serving God, the same as all of you here today. (Acts 22:3)
He stood in front of the people that wanted to kill him several minutes

Biological And Trait Perspectives On The Human Personality
Biological and Trait Perspectives and Explanations of Neuroticism Two perspectives on the human
personality will be explained in the following two sections. The first perspective is the biological
perspective of personality. This perspective focuses largely on the internal genetic makeup of an
individual and the effects this has on his or her personality. The biological perspective is strongly
based on other scientific fields in laboratory or clinical conditions such as biology and biochemistry.
The biological perspective involves intricate and often time consuming scientific experiments to test
for personality traits and correlations. Evolution is sometimes also mentioned within the biological
perspective in sociobiology. The structure and function of the brain (neurobiology) is also central to
the biological theory of personality. The second perspective to be mentioned is the trait perspective of
personality. According to Costa and McCrae, examination of the trait theory of personality is required
for someone to make sense of the human personality (1998). Two ideas are central to the trait
perspective of personality: A person s behaviors, contemplations, and emotions are relatively stable in
varying situations and with time, and each individual personality is different from all other
personalities (Carver Sheier, 2012). The trait perspective asserts that personalities are made up of
various traits that vary in degrees of strength. These traits are exemplified on a

What Makes The Human Imagination In Alien
Alien is truly amazing from beginning to end as the hands on effort and imagination of Ridley Scott is
stunning, even in this day and age of special effects and CGI. The designs of Giger are wildly
indigenous and memorable and the editing by Terry Rawlings was the best thing I seen for a 1979
movie, making for a perfect storm of a horror flick. No one who has seen Alien will ever forget the
dinner scene, one of the most dramatic even to be shown to a thoughtless viewer. Even the actors were
unaware of what was coming down, maximizing the effect of the event.
Film monsters can never get any scarier than the Alien. It is almost always dangerous to project an
absolute about anything, but as far as I am concerned, everyone else can just flush their so called
monsters down the sewer. There just can t be anything in reality or the human imagination that can top
this creature that we barely get to see during most of this film. The metaphorically rich design of this
growl, biting, chomping, gut and head banging nightmare is terrifying.
If you think the Predator had a bad attitude, you will not believe the hostility that the Alien carries
around. The Predator, as tough as he was being about the same as the Pillsbury Doughboy when
compared to the Alien. Ash said it the best with his wise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with using normal objects and hands on awareness to detail make this film what it is. The resemblance
of the Alien monster is a feat that will probably never be the same. As far as violence goes, violent

DISCUSSION
The objective of this study is to examine the differences between the vegan and omnivore diet and to
study the relationship of these diets to body composition, blood lipids, and the serum hormones
vitamin D and parathyroid hormone. As seen previously, those eating an omnivore diet consumed
significantly more dietary protein than those consuming a vegan diet (2; 3). The values we observed
for dietary protein in both the vegan and the omnivore groups were similar to those seen by Hadded et
al. (3) and Janelle and Barr (2). The women in our study eating an omnivore diet exceeded the RDA
for protein. In contrast to other studies of vegetarians and vegans, our ... Show more content on

We found no significant difference between the two diet groups in the serum vitamin D levels. A study
of vegan women in Finland found vegans to be deficient in vitamin D intake without supplements or
adequate sunlight exposure through vacations in sunny locations (12). The vegan women in our study
had adequate serum vitamin D levels, which may be the result of 1) incorporating enough vitamin D
in their diets possibly using fortified foods and supplements; 2) they were exposed to adequate
sunlight or 3) a combination of both.
Although reviews of the vegetarian diet (5; 13) warn that deficiencies in several micronutrients are
possible, the only marginal nutrient we found in the vegan group is calcium intake. There are several
possible reasons for this difference. Vegans may be more health conscious, physically more active,
and have a greater understanding of the role of nutrition in general health. As a result, they may also
consume more supplements. Another contributing factor may be the recent increase in commercially
available foods fortified with a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that may lead to higher levels of
intake when whole diets are examined. These results may be somewhat biased compared to the
general population because we studied young adult college women primarily. Another possible
confounding factor is the

Ford Motor Company Of Australia
Ford Motor, Australia remains as one of the popular automobile companies in Australia. The company
is an auxiliary of Ford Motor Company, a global automotive company that builds and markets
automobiles in various continents of the world. Over the years, the company has increased its
investment in the automobile industry through designing new automobile brands to fit the different
segments of its business. The company has done this through increased investment on research and

In essence, this market condition makes it necessary for the company to work hard to enforce its
corporate marketing objectives (Wilkins Hill, 2011).
More so, the corporate objectives of Ford Australia lead logically to the marketing objectives. The
company has successfully organized its management systems in such a way to facilitate effective sales
and marketing of the products across the different market segments. It is critical to look at the
effectiveness of its market strategy both in the short and long term with the objective to keep the
company abreast with potential challenges, and opportunities that are presented to its business.
Through the critical review of its marketing strategy, then vital elements as regards its future growth
and development can be developed. Through such analysis, the company s management can draw key
lessons helpful of making the company achieve its marketing objectives.
The inclusion of environmental management systems and value at Ford Australia plays a critical role
to the marketing (Ottman, 2011). This is important in perspective of the high level of knowledge and
consumers awareness on environmental matters. Most of the local consumers would not want to
associate with companies that have zero concerns for the environment (Polonsky Mintu Wimsatt,
1995). In other words, the marketing concept as practiced by Ford Australia may be viewed as a part
of the broad social responsibility policy

A General History Of The Pyrates Essay
How does this document illustrate the general themes of the course in so far as the practice of piracy is
concerned?
In his 1724 novel A General History of the Pyrates, Daniel Defoe tells the tale of two female, cross
dressing pirates, Mary Read and Anne Bonny. The Adventures of Mary Read and Anne Bonny
illustrate a series of common themes of the practice of piracy. Daniel Defoe s novel A General History
of the Pyrates tells the tales of history s most notorious pirates, including figures such as Captain
Teach (the notorious Blackbeard) and Captain Rackham, the Captain under which Mary Read and
Anne Bonny sailed under. Mary Read was born in England, the illegitimate child of a Naval widow;
Anne Bonny was born in Ireland, in a town near Cork. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many sources mention women dressing as men on ships, mostly for convenience. However, women
on ships was not an unusual sight, and the number of women that were described to be on ships makes
it difficult to believe that these women spent their entire time on the deck of their ships dressed as men
(Lecture 9). The use of mens clothing while fighting is understandable, as it is much more practical.
This in itself suggests that the accounts of people who witnessed women wearing mens clothing are
primarily from those who saw them during battles. Mary Read would not have been allowed to enter
the navy if she had been discovered a woman, so Defoe s recollection of her story is likely. It is very
difficult however to imagine disguising one s sex for the majority of one s life, on board a ship where
there is very little privacy. It is likely then, that Mary Read and Anne Bonny wore men s clothes while
in battle, and thus it became habit to wear them at other times. The suggestion that Mary s Flemish
husband (whom was not given a name by Defoe) did not discover her sex until he lay with her for the
first time is probably not inaccurate, as homosexuality was rife within the naval

Tommy Vladek
According to many different philosophers such as Descartes and Locke there has to be more to the
mind than just the materialistic view. There are many different parts to the brain which make it a
whole according to science, so thinking about the brain from a philosophical standpoint, there must be
different parts to make up the minds identity. According to John Perry, the memories and personality
traits as well as beliefs and intellectual skills make up a personal identity and the body is just a vessel
that holds this identity (TP, 197). Certain people might believe that if one were to get a brain

(TP, 194). Given this perspective Tommy would have to remain with Vladek because he is technically
still legally and genetically his son. The legality of this situation would be especially complicated
because there is hypothetically two boys in one. Although I have to disagree with the legal side
because if the boy were to wake up as Sam it would be traumatizing for him to not only look like

  • 2. Making English Official Language In the Don t Make English Official Ban It Instead originally published in the Washington Post, Dennis Baron analyzes the fact that making English the official language of the United States will not stop people from speaking other languages. The author proves his point through the proposal of banding English. In this short review, I will discuss not just what was written, but how the examples, and analysis help make the author s point. I will conclude by telling what questions I had at the end, as a reader, and where or what I would research to answer those questions. Baron starts with one of the most controversial legislations that the Congress has considered, making English the official language of the United States. In order to unite the nation and save money from translating documents to other languages. Shortly after the author shows the that today over ninety seven percent of the people in the US speak English without the need of such legislation, and how many of the immigrants today are learning English at a fast rate. Reminding the reader of the current movement of encouraging everyone to be bilingual will bring great benefits in the future. The author continues his essay by proposing a the banding of the English ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Aristotle And Heidegger s Views On What A Human Or Beings... Aristotle and Heidegger have conflicting views on what a human or beings are. Although, there are some similarities to each of their set of ideas. Aristotle has a clear hierarchical framework classifying the differences between humans, animals, and plants. Heidegger opposes this strict definitions by discussing this idea of Dasein which states of being there. Although, their approaches to this topic are different with the types of question one asks and how they theorize about what is a being. There is key similarities that they discuss almost two thousand years apart. Aristotle and Heidegger are two philosophers that have tackled the enormous question, what is it to be a being? This paper discusses the two different approaches to defining this long standing question. Aristotle asks many what questions when talking about what is a living being. He discusses us as a specific type of animals and how it relates to animals, plants and nonliving things. There is an hierarchy when discussing the differences between these things. For instance, all living things can ensouled destructible mobile substances. This means, all living substances can die and their body can disintegrate when no soul is in them. The essential features of being an animal is that it has a soul but not a rational soul compared to a human being. As stated in Arwin and Fine (1996), An animal is a living item that has perception. I always felt in my heart that I wanted to be a supervisor for incoming clinicians and this course has solidified my passion. Since ones professional development is a lifelong process. I think the supervisor and supervisee relationship is essential for professional growth. Personally I know that every supervisor in my career has left a lasting impression and contributed to my professional development because of their dedication to training, supervising, and teaching me all that they could. As a result I did not want to provide my students with poor supervision and I wanted them to have my knowledge and expertise and pitfalls. I wanted to create a space where my supervisees ... Over the course of this short term there was an array of tragedy happening around us that I wanted to be insure I created space for my supervisees to not only reflect and process their feelings and biases but also to practice and ask questions about working with clients of diverse populations that may be impacted directly or indirectly by the current events sweeping our nation. It is important that we not just discuss being culturally competent and inclusive but that we have real conversations and practices regarding these and other aspects of diversity, pluralism and inclusion. I am also a big believer in self care and not only talking about it but practicing what I preach so it was important we discuss and create space for giving each other emotional support through reassurance and encouragement. Overall, I had a great experience and I learned valuable lessons supervising and being supervised. A peer even approached me this week from our course and said you know I really appreciate your supervisor style and I would hire you in a second as a supervisor. That was really nice to hear and while I know there is so much more to learn I am looking forward to joining other supervisors in helping support and shape our future professional psychologist ... Unfortunately, it is also one of the sparks that can start a war and revolutionize the way we think and certain civilizations traditions. For example, before the Spaniards came to the Central and Southern Americas the Incas had their own religion, but once they were conquered they were forced to convert to Christianity. The Incans had to abandon their way of life and traditions or face punishment. This, along with the near extinction of the race, caused them to lose their beliefs over time. On the other side, religion can also lead to the birth of a new civilization different from the rest, the Americans . Unlike other countries, the United States is a melting pot where people of different ethnic backgrounds, faiths, lifestyles, cultures, and races come together. And this is where it all started. In 1492, Christopher Columbus reached the Americas on the orders of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. King Ferdinand sent him to claim land and riches for Spain, while Queen Isabella requested that he help spread Christianity. From then on, many missionaries were sent to convert the Natives. This is one example of how religion shaped the Americas. King Henry the Eighth divorced his wife and switched England s religion to the Protestant Church in 1534 when he renounced the pope (as the head of the church). After some time, the Catholics were tired of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Concentration Camps Of The Second Anglo-Boer War One of many forms of oppression the British practiced during the Second Anglo Boer War was the use of concentration camps. Both blacks and whites were placed in the camps, and were required to perform unpaid labor. However, the black and white camps were segregated, and the treatment of the inmates in the black concentration camps was vastly different from the white camps. Less rations were given, and less maintenance was performed on the camps, leading to starvation and poor living conditions. Even after the war, when the white concentration camps had been transferred to civilian control, the black concentration camps still remained under military command (Pretorius). Though many Boers and British believed the war to be a white man s war , blacks continued to be segregated and oppressed in order to profit off of their labor and gain advantage in battle. Many blacks fought on the side of the British, believing they would receive education and more economic opportunities with a victory by England ( Role ). Regardless of what side the natives took, the eventual outcomes of the war still prevented them from reaching true equality with the soldiers they fought with at the turn of the twentieth century. Subtle rules and regulations were implemented as a treaty between the English and Boers prevented blacks from ever escaping the European induced living conditions. • 10. Review Of Vampire Bats 1. Vampire bats give blood to unrelated vampire bats for several reasons. Among the reasons are the cost sharing of blood, the benefit of sharing blood and the probability that the bats that were given blood will in turn reciprocate and give blood to other bats at a later date. The cooperative equilibria in blood sharing among bats means that the sharing of blood will occur if the benefits of sharing blood multiplied by the probability that blood sharing will be beneficial in the future is greater than the cost of sharing blood. If a bat shares blood with another bat (even an unrelated bat), the bat that is the recipient is expected to donate blood to other bats at a larger rate than it received at a later time. A donor bat will give blood to a bat that has not had a meal so that this bat can have the opportunity to hunt again, giving an increased chance that it will reciprocate to another bat that has not had a meal, enabling the roost to maintain survival. In the event that a recipient bat does not reciprocate in the future, that bat will not be donated to if it needs it in the future, thus allowing for recipient bats to be donor bats in the future as needed. 2. If there is something in me called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it. With natural revelation we see that one can logically construct the belief in a God by simply observing the things present in nature. The prevalent acceptance that the universe had a chronological origin meaningfully shifted the stance in favor of belief in a first cause or an intelligent designer of the universe, which caused the universe to appear (Pg. 84).2 Many scientist hold to the theory that the universe is continually moving out away from a central focus point. • 22. The Role Of Protein And Carbohydrate Utilisation During... Introduction Post exercise nutrition, especially protein, plays an important role of the training regimen amongst athletic population. Post exercise nutrition is used to improve performance and enhance the body s recovery process following exercise. This review will focus on the role of protein and carbohydrate utilisation post exercise and there effects on protein synthesis. Anabolic and catabolic processes are controlled by the neuroendocrine system in response to training. Resistance training produces a catabolic state, in which the muscle proteins are broken down. During recovery an anabolic state predominately takes over leading to muscle repair and growth (Plowman Smith, 2014). The macronutrient protein has grasped attention during the recovery phase of exercise. Protein plays multiple important roles throughout the entire body, regulating every chemical reaction and used in the structural tissue within the human body (Brown, Miller Eason, 2006). Supplementary protein offers three main common types of complete protein; whey, casein and egg. These complete proteins differ in the role of recovery post exercise (Campbell Spano, 2011). The macronutrients protein and carbohydrates have their own functions within the body but work together to generate an anabolic state within the body when ingested post exercise (Poole, Wilborn, Taylor Kerksick, 2010). John Stuart Mill (1956) stated that, the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm from others ; meaning that regulation should only intervene when something is significantly harmful to others. There must remain a realm of private morality and immorality that is not the law s business (reference). This proves that, in the end survivor s guilt shouldn t affect someone who went through a life and death situation because it wasn t their fault for wanting to live. Another reason why survivors of life/death situations should not feel survivor s guilt is because it is illogical. This is explained in the anchor text The moral logic of survivor guilt by Nancy Sherman. In paragraph 5 it states We often take responsibility in a way the goes beyond what we can be held responsible. This shows that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. The Effect Of Culture On Consumer Behaviour In international market, understanding consumer needs and desired is extremely important to the corporation in order to market their products and services properly into the market. Consumer behaviour is a process in where individuals or groups select, buy, use and dispose of the products and services to satisfy their needs and desires. The organisation simply cannot understand consumption unless they consider its cultural context, as culture shows how people view leads to their acceptance. Therefore, the effect of culture on consumer behaviour is powerful. This paper will discuss in more details about that and further consider whether culture has the greatest influence on consumer behaviour. Culture has a complex concept that numerous of researchers talk about in different views. Cultures is defined as a complex whole that includes of knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by a member of the society (Hollensen, 2013). Culture provides the important background of an individual that offer direction and guidance to its members in all phases of life. Besides, Sojka and Tansuhaj describe culture as a dynamic set of socially obtains the member of a particular society s behaviours, with the key element of language, artefacts, belief and values (Sojka and Tansuhaj, 1995). There are three main characteristics of culture stated on Hollensen s (2013) book: culture is learned, interrelated and shared. The tangible aspects of culture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Jesus Change During class time, we learned about Jesus s impact on people. Many people were changed a lot. They became kinder and more friendly. We could see this through people s reactions to God and the good things they did. Through Jesus s teaching, not only Paul and people in the Bible, but every Christian is becoming better people. Among all the apostles, the change from Saul to Paul is the most amazing one for me. The name Saul was once a deadly word for the citizens under Saul s control. He hated Christians at first. He arrested and even killed a lot of apostles. Evil and cruel are the two words that best described him. He was a demon before he was changed by Jesus. In Acts 9, Saul was completely changed. When he went into the city of Damascus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Jesus appeared in front of him and told him that he needed to save Saul, he hesitated. His hesitation reflected the evilness of Saul. God chose Ananias because of his pure faith. The evilness that stopped a faithful apostle from obeying God s order must be huge. It indirectly showed how bad Saul was and how huge the change was as well. The reaction of Ananias is an important element in here. Saul s changes were unbelievable. He was such an evil killer three days ago. No one could imagine that three days later, he became a true believer of Jesus. Jesus purified his soul. This made him act like a savior. All the sins were washed away. He became a faithful follower in Jesus and God. The bible talked a lot about his faith after being healed. In Acts 21, Paul was arrested by the Jews. He was with the people that grabbed him. After he turned to Jesus, he showed his faith towards God. He could have been with the persecutors and keep looking for Christians. However, he gave up the life he was used to and changed all his characteristics. Acts 22 described the things he did after he was released. He said, I was very serious about serving God, the same as all of you here today. (Acts 22:3) He stood in front of the people that wanted to kill him several minutes ... • 32. Biological And Trait Perspectives On The Human Personality Biological and Trait Perspectives and Explanations of Neuroticism Two perspectives on the human personality will be explained in the following two sections. The first perspective is the biological perspective of personality. This perspective focuses largely on the internal genetic makeup of an individual and the effects this has on his or her personality. The biological perspective is strongly based on other scientific fields in laboratory or clinical conditions such as biology and biochemistry. The biological perspective involves intricate and often time consuming scientific experiments to test for personality traits and correlations. Evolution is sometimes also mentioned within the biological perspective in sociobiology. The structure and function of the brain (neurobiology) is also central to the biological theory of personality. The second perspective to be mentioned is the trait perspective of personality. According to Costa and McCrae, examination of the trait theory of personality is required for someone to make sense of the human personality (1998). Two ideas are central to the trait perspective of personality: A person s behaviors, contemplations, and emotions are relatively stable in varying situations and with time, and each individual personality is different from all other personalities (Carver Sheier, 2012). The trait perspective asserts that personalities are made up of various traits that vary in degrees of strength. These traits are exemplified on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. What Makes The Human Imagination In Alien Alien is truly amazing from beginning to end as the hands on effort and imagination of Ridley Scott is stunning, even in this day and age of special effects and CGI. The designs of Giger are wildly indigenous and memorable and the editing by Terry Rawlings was the best thing I seen for a 1979 movie, making for a perfect storm of a horror flick. No one who has seen Alien will ever forget the dinner scene, one of the most dramatic even to be shown to a thoughtless viewer. Even the actors were unaware of what was coming down, maximizing the effect of the event. Film monsters can never get any scarier than the Alien. It is almost always dangerous to project an absolute about anything, but as far as I am concerned, everyone else can just flush their so called monsters down the sewer. There just can t be anything in reality or the human imagination that can top this creature that we barely get to see during most of this film. The metaphorically rich design of this growl, biting, chomping, gut and head banging nightmare is terrifying. If you think the Predator had a bad attitude, you will not believe the hostility that the Alien carries around. Eng135 Position Paper Position Paper ENG135 Jonathan Dougherty Professor Stephen Mendonca DISCUSSION The objective of this study is to examine the differences between the vegan and omnivore diet and to study the relationship of these diets to body composition, blood lipids, and the serum hormones vitamin D and parathyroid hormone. As seen previously, those eating an omnivore diet consumed significantly more dietary protein than those consuming a vegan diet (2; 3). The values we observed for dietary protein in both the vegan and the omnivore groups were similar to those seen by Hadded et al. (3) and Janelle and Barr (2). The women in our study eating an omnivore diet exceeded the RDA for protein. In contrast to other studies of vegetarians and vegans, our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We found no significant difference between the two diet groups in the serum vitamin D levels. A study of vegan women in Finland found vegans to be deficient in vitamin D intake without supplements or adequate sunlight exposure through vacations in sunny locations (12). The vegan women in our study had adequate serum vitamin D levels, which may be the result of 1) incorporating enough vitamin D in their diets possibly using fortified foods and supplements; 2) they were exposed to adequate sunlight or 3) a combination of both. Although reviews of the vegetarian diet (5; 13) warn that deficiencies in several micronutrients are possible, the only marginal nutrient we found in the vegan group is calcium intake. There are several possible reasons for this difference. Vegans may be more health conscious, physically more active, and have a greater understanding of the role of nutrition in general health. As a result, they may also consume more supplements. Another contributing factor may be the recent increase in commercially available foods fortified with a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that may lead to higher levels of intake when whole diets are examined. These results may be somewhat biased compared to the general population because we studied young adult college women primarily. Another possible confounding factor is the ... • 37. A General History Of The Pyrates Essay How does this document illustrate the general themes of the course in so far as the practice of piracy is concerned? In his 1724 novel A General History of the Pyrates, Daniel Defoe tells the tale of two female, cross dressing pirates, Mary Read and Anne Bonny. The Adventures of Mary Read and Anne Bonny illustrate a series of common themes of the practice of piracy. Daniel Defoe s novel A General History of the Pyrates tells the tales of history s most notorious pirates, including figures such as Captain Teach (the notorious Blackbeard) and Captain Rackham, the Captain under which Mary Read and Anne Bonny sailed under. Mary Read was born in England, the illegitimate child of a Naval widow; Anne Bonny was born in Ireland, in a town near Cork. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many sources mention women dressing as men on ships, mostly for convenience. However, women on ships was not an unusual sight, and the number of women that were described to be on ships makes it difficult to believe that these women spent their entire time on the deck of their ships dressed as men (Lecture 9). The use of mens clothing while fighting is understandable, as it is much more practical. This in itself suggests that the accounts of people who witnessed women wearing mens clothing are primarily from those who saw them during battles. Mary Read would not have been allowed to enter the navy if she had been discovered a woman, so Defoe s recollection of her story is likely. It is very difficult however to imagine disguising one s sex for the majority of one s life, on board a ship where there is very little privacy. It is likely then, that Mary Read and Anne Bonny wore men s clothes while in battle, and thus it became habit to wear them at other times. The suggestion that Mary s Flemish husband (whom was not given a name by Defoe) did not discover her sex until he lay with her for the first time is probably not inaccurate, as homosexuality was rife within the naval ... There are many different parts to the brain which make it a whole according to science, so thinking about the brain from a philosophical standpoint, there must be different parts to make up the minds identity. According to John Perry, the memories and personality traits as well as beliefs and intellectual skills make up a personal identity and the body is just a vessel that holds this identity (TP, 197). Given this perspective Tommy would have to remain with Vladek because he is technically still legally and genetically his son. The legality of this situation would be especially complicated because there is hypothetically two boys in one. Although I have to disagree with the legal side because if the boy were to wake up as Sam it would be traumatizing for him to not only look like another boy but be torn from his previous home and be forced to live with a stranger.
