and available for all children rich and poor. Due to social classes in England, the
children who were eligible to attend school were those who descend from a family of
wealth. Children of wealth, males to be more specific, initially started their public
education after the age of ten and up until then they were home schooled . As for
females, they were educated at home if their parents condoned it because in the
Victorian Society it was believed that women only needed to learn how to be a
housewife and tend to her husband. It was said to be a Man s world and there
would be no need for women to have any form of education other than what the
Victorian Society believed. For those who were poor male or female, they didn t
have a choice to attend school because of their parents financial situation, social class,
and value.
Social class and financial situation played a big role in determining whether or not a
child received an education in the Victorian Society. The reason behind this was
because education wasn t free until the Education Act which helped schools receive

able to describe the dialogue between the servant and his master, but an omniscient

the case in this story. I believe the author intended to do this in order to make Death
appear mysterious, yet also familiar to the reader. Once Death is given human
elements, like the ability to be surprised, it gives the illusion that one can cheat
death. I find it rather peculiar that in this tale we are led to believe that Death was
very easily recognizable. The servant knew immediately that the woman that jostled
(pg. 4) him was Death. We also read that the merchant went to the marketplace and
could see Death standing in the crowd(pg. 4).

On a pleasant and beautiful Sunday, December 7, 1984, Japan implemented a
surprise attack on the US Naval Base in Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu,
Hawaii which gave United States a door to enter into World War II. Even though
Japan did not follow through with the attack causing the third wave of bombers to
break contact from dropping bombs to finish off the rest of the fleet docking in
Pearl Harbor, it was a well prepared, and carefully orchestrated attack on the
Americans because the Japanese followed almost all the nine Principles of War.

between surrendering or going to war with the United States. Lastly, United States
had not yet entered the Second World War, because they were still reeling from
depression due to the First World War. United States did, however, still possess the

Cormac McCarthy s novel exemplifies the nature of power and corruption in a post

through a lot of small trials their first big trial, and the third step of the monomyth,
is their encounter with Thrax in the nose. While in Franks nose Thrax turns the
pressure pods up which destroys all the walls in his nostril. This causes a runny
nose which Jones and Drix struggle to contain. After the nose incident Jones and
Drix work together to extract evidence from the old know it all chicken pox
influenza. With Jones smooth talking and Drix s big gun they use teamwork to beat
the truth out of the old timer. Knowing all about Thrax they set off to find and
defeat the menacing virus. Finally, they find Thrax at a new club on Franks forehead
named The Zit. As they listen in on Thrax s plan to kill Frank within forty eight
hours they are discovered. Through teamwork they destroy The Zit and all the germs
within it including Thrax, or so they think. Thrax miraculously survives the explosion
and moves forward with his plan to kill Frank.
