Simpson Evenness
The results show that Manuel Antonio has the highest Simpson s Index of Diversity with a .92. I
believe that these results are miss leading. The Simpson s Index of Diversity takes into account
both species richness and evenness. Richness is defined as the number of species per sample and
evenness is defined as a measure of the relative abundance of the different speciesmaking up the
richness of an area (Country Side Info). Manuel Antonio was very even, all of the plantspecies in
the area had one or two individuals. The other samples that I took all had at least one species that
was much more prevalent than the others. Due to evenness being a main factor in the Simpson s
Diversity of Index is why according to this formula Manuel Antonio... Show more content on

The first drawback is we do not know the names of the plants. If we knew the names of the plants
or at least what families they are in we could gain a lot more from our research. Secondly, how
we counted the moss may lead to incorrect results. We counted the plants by number but
originally we just wrote down, for example, one patch of moss. We then had to go back and
assign it a number based on the percent of area we thought the moss was covering. Thirdly, our
sample sizes were small. If they were larger we would have had a bigger picture of the biodiversity
in the area. For example, in Monteverde if we had a larger sample size it may have reached to
where the plants were denser farther off the trail. This would lead to Monteverde having a
higher Simpson Index of Diversity. Lastly, there is always human bias. I chose my spots and
many things influenced where I chose such as quantity of plants and how pretty the plants were.
If I had to do this experiment over again I would use larger sample sizes so I could get a better
idea of the biodiversity. I would also want to fix the way we accounted for moss. Lastly, I would
want to know more about the plants we were counting so more information could be extracted from

Child Prostitution in Asia
Child Prostitution in Asia In ancient times, children were viewed as smaller versions of adults.
There was little perceptible difference between an adult and their younger counterparts. By the
Middle Ages and up until the Renaissance, girls as young as twelve were still considered
marriageable age. Sexualizing children was a form of their education and indoctrination into the
world of adults. However, in the modern time, we have come to understand that children and
childhood is a time for innocence and development. The historical adulteration of children was
rightly seen as barbaric and archaic. Forcing children into adult roles can lead to a destructive
adulthood. Physical and emotional abuse of children can destroy someone. Even worse is the type
of abuse characterized by sexual activity and sexual interaction with children. The sexual abuse of
children leads to abnormal development and an adult with severe mental problems, prone to
violence and often continuing the chain of abuse into subsequent generations. Forcing a child to
commit sexual acts before they are physically or mentally mature enough to handle it is the worst
kind of crime. Yet, in nations all over the world, this kind of abuse not only occurs, but is a
profitable business for perpetrators. Child prostitutionis illegal all over the world, but in some
countries the laws against child prostitution and the use of underage people for sexual interactions
are lax and often go unenforced. The World Congress

The Stress Of Civilian Life
The Stress of Civilian Life
Belinda Maio
Liberty University Abstract
The stress that a soldier faces when they leave the military can be overwhelming. Most soldiers
enlist out of high school or College. They go from living with their parents to living within the
fortress of military institutions. They are given everything that they need while they are in the
service. They learn to live a certain type of life. This life is organized and there is little that the
servicemen need to figure out for themselves. They have everything that they can ever need right
on the base where they live. Then after years of service, they are retired or they do not reenlist.
Now this is where their stress begins. They are faced with now finding ... Show more content on

This is not a flaw of the military servicemen and woman it is just the way the system is set up.
The Money
Going from the military life to being a civilian can put a financial hardship on the family mostly if
the servicemen are unable to find work when they get out of the military. The family is then forced
to go on a tight budget. In order to understand the hardship on the servicemen it is important to
understand how the military works as far as money, and benefits that the servicemen are given and
how they helped them make ends meet.
In the military, servicemen are used to getting money for their food, rent, and clothing. Every
month in the military depending on your rank, you get B.H.A. This stands for Basic Housing
Allowance. The higher rank you are the more money you get. So in a sense you are living rent
free and can possibly make money if your rent is lower than your B.HA.
Then you get B.A.S which stands for Basic allowance for subsistence. Now this is a set amount.
There is a single amount and a married amount. This money is used for groceries each month.
The military member also gets a clothing allowance. This is set to your rank also. There is also the
cost of living allowance. So if you live in a place which has a high cost of living you would receive
an adjustment to make up for this and so you can afford to live there.
Along with all the money that the servicemen and woman get there are also bonus pays for combat,
hazardous duty pay,

Rank s Analytical Tool for Advertising
1.) Rank s easy to use, analytical tool is called the intensify/downplay model, and its goal is to
help you to become more critical and analytical receivers. It defines and gives examples of four
major persuasive strategies and six associated tactics that are often used by persuaders today.
(Larson, 2007 page 31) Ranks major strategy is to either intensify certain aspects of the product,
cause or candidate. His other strategy is to downplay certain aspects of their brand, cause or
candidate. (Larson, 2007 page 31) The intensification and downplay strategies include, to intensify
their own good points, intensify the weak points of the opposition, downplay their own weak
points, and downplay the good points of the opposition. The tactics... Show more content on

Another example using Rank s model is how the politicians use repetition to repeat their slogans
over and over to the society so they can make themselves more noticeable and more aware of
whom they are.
3. Kenneth Burke is known for the knowledge of human symbolic behavior. He was associated
with many narrative theories. He focused on language as it is used to persuade people to an action,
and defined persuasion as the use of language as a symbolic means of inducing cooperation beings
that by nature respond to symbols. (Burke, 1970, Grammar, p. 43) This active cooperation is
induced by what he called identification which is very similar to Aristotle s common ground and
our use of co creation (Larson, 2007, p. 127) According to Burke, identification develops through
the linguistic of sharing what he called sub stances. He had divided the word into its prefix, sub
meaning beneath and stances meaning places. Burke noted that these sub stances or places emerge
in the words we use to define things, persons and issues. Kenneth Burke uses common ground by
physical things like for example branded clothing. According to Larson, Burke indicates that, all
words have emotional shading and reveal the feelings, attitudes, values, and judgment of the user.
For example, he uses the word manipulate which can potentially carry a negative meaning by
changing people s minds.

Cat Fish Research Paper
At New Melones, as the lake level dropped another 3 feet last week, avid fishermen were not
discouraged as they launched off the gravel area of Glory Hole Point where 4 wheel drive is
recommended. Graveyard shift anglers are catching trout, crappie, and catfish, using submersible
lights and live minnows. Daytime anglers are finding the trout and kokanee down to the 50 to 70
foot level. Bob James, of Murphys, a frequent angler at Melones, caught a limit of kokes last week
by trolling an Apex lure at 65 feet in the main lake. Bass fishingremains good early mornings and
late evenings. Topwater baits such as Whopper Poppers, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits can produce
some explosive topwater action. Dark colors seem to work better at night. Catfish are always

best for both shore anglers and those anchoring boats near the inlet.
With the water level up to the launch ramp at Beardsley Lake, Dick Anderson, of Twain Harte,
got in last Friday and got 10 fish to the boat, releasing four. Flasher/worm combos was the key.
Also, out last week and boating limits were Chris and Bobby Caldera, of Sonora. The water level
at Beardsley appears to be dropping slowly and anglers should check with the Summit Ranger
Station (965 3434) to determine levels.
There was a threat that the Sacramento River salmon season may be shut down if the water

the California Fish and Game Commission. This could be devastating to river guides as well as
all fishing related businesses along the river. The season is due to open July 16 and it will be a go

Pluralic Story Of Kitty Genovese
The tragic story of Kitty Genovese is one of a gruesome murder. It is set in Key Gardens on the
night of March 13th 1964. At the time, the area was believed to be safe and secure but the events
that took place that night would forever change everyone perspective of this community, and the
type of people who lived there. Many news articles reported that thirty eight members of the
community listened and watched as Winston Moseley mutilated Ms. Genovese and this left
numerous people, from members of law enforcement to phycologists to ordinary people alike,
wondering how these people could sit idly by and let this catastrophe occur. Georg Simmel s
perspective of society most definitely falls into this story, as he theorized that society is a complex...

has the same effect on us. Therefore, it is theorized that the metropolis mental life is essentially
intellectual, not emotional (Cultural Reader, Georg Simmel The Metropolis and Mental life

that intelligence trumped emotion that night and the witnesses decided to choose the smarter, safer

New London Vs Ncl Case Study

Case Brief #5
Dr. Federici
Kelo V. City of New London, Conneticut
545 U.S. 469, 125 S. CT. 2655 (2005)
Facts of the case: Decades of economic decline, led the city of New London to declare a
distressed municipality , with the unemployment rate doubled, the city of New London approved
an economic revitalization plan, and authorized a non profit organization; New London
Development Corporation (NDCL) to take the development plan into action. Pfizer announced a
plan to build a research facility in the Fort Trumbull area, which was home to 115 private
properties. These properties are being taken by New London, and just compensation is to be given
to the owners. Susette Kelo (Plaintiff) sued the city of New London and NDCL (Defendant) on
grounds that the public use restriction in the Fifth Amendment was being violated by the takings of
private property. The defendants argued that the development plan was an opportunity to attract
new businesses opportunities to the area, although it wouldn t be open to the public, it would
serve public purpose. A first trial prohibited New London from taking the properties, but an appeal
from the State Supreme Court granted permission to take the properties. A second appeal by Kelo
to the Supreme Court, was affirmed by 5 4 in favor of the State Supreme Court.

Russian Formalism And The Hero
The title hero has been around for a long time. There are many things that can pop into a person s
head when the word hero is said. Within Russian formalism, there is the idea of structures and
perceptions within literature. The time, place, historical movement, and author, can change the
perceptions of a novel or even how it is written. Stories have been around since people started to
communicate. Stories or myths were used to teach lessons, for entertainment, or to keep history
alive. There have always been different types of stories that people would talk about. One type of
story that has been around for a long time is the story of heroes. The stories started out having
hidden lessons within the stories. To fully understand the archetype, or structure, of the heroquest
Russian formalismwill be discussed. With understanding Russian formalism, it then will be
connected to the hero quest structure. The hero quest structure will then be broken down to be
explained. To better understand the hero quest the French novel, Kiffe Kiffe Tomorrow by FaГ

can be classified through the hero quest structure influencing the perceptions of the works.
Russian formalism is a mixture of symbolism theory mixed with linguistic theory. But, with

How Does GPS Use Trilateration To Pinpoint An Unknown...
This simplified 2D example will demonstrate how GPS uses trilateration to pinpoint an unknown
location. Once a receiver has locked in onto a satellite, the unknown position may be anywhere
within the radius of 1000 km of satellite one. The receiver picks up a signal from a second
satellite and calculates the range as 1200 km. The position has been narrowed down to two
positions; where the ranges intersect. If the receiver picks up another satellite, the unknown position
can be found by calculating where all three distances are possible.

Many accidents are caused by distracted drivers who are attempting to punch in the address

route before driving is the first step to proper use of your GPS device. Take advantage of GPS
systems that use voice. Using this feature helps one to keep their eyes on the road, avoiding
unnecessary distraction by looking at the GPS device. Another safety tip is to put your
passenger in charge of the directions. A passenger can be used as an alternative to voice

My Sleep Disturbed By The Deep Bone
Frequently, I awake very stiff and have ache in my lower left body. Most nights, especially those
after a workday, I spend the night in and out of sleep. My sleep disturbed by the deep bone throb in
my lower left leg as well as spasms in my left hamstring.
After about 30 min, I begin to warm up very slow, my lower left side still stiff and sore. I massage
my lower left leg to help ease the bone throb. I feel the pain of strain as if I will snap a muscle in
my lower left back or left leg as I don socks and shoes.
I always rely on a cane to walk, except when I lean way forward and wall/furniture surf to the
bathroom about once a night. The more I walk, the more intense I feel the deep bone ache in my
lower left back and my left leg. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My work shoes show the extra scuffs on top of the left toe box from the foot drag. I typically lead
with my left leg and hold the cane in my right hand to support my lame lower left side. Even with
the heavy use of my cane I cannot avoid pain.
For example, I lean on my cane so hard that the premium medical rubber handle and many tips
have worn out. I wear heavy duty palm padded motorcycle gloves on my right hand to add power
and overcome my lame lower left side. My whole right side has musculature compared to my
lower left side from compensating for my left side s atrophy and weakness.
The pressure of walking, even cane assisted, causes extreme tenderness from the onset. When I
walk about 100 feet, the stabbing pain in my lower left back and sometimes the shock in my left leg,
debilitate me to the point where I must sit down, even though sitting violates workplace policy.
Sometimes when I walk, my left hip pains me as if the hip will slip out of joint. When this occurs,
I will freeze in place to calm down the painful movement and not incur more painful damage in my
hip.
For example, my back, hip and leg pain cause me to have very prominent limp with an outward
swing of my bad left leg.
When I stand still, I feel somewhat relieved from walking, but the nagging bone pain in my lower
left back remains. But when I stand and sometimes when I sit, I feel different pain, like there are
no supports in my left lower back.

Views on Slavery by Higginbotham, Jr.,Winthrop D. Jordan,...
A Leon Higginbotham Jr. s argument in The Ancestry of Inferiority (1619 1662), is that the
people of Virginia had already began to think of black people, be it they were free or indentured
servants, as inferior to themselves before slavery was institutionalized. The Colonist s had already
begun to strategize legalities in regards on how black peoplewere to be disciplined. Higginbotham
has two reasons why Africans were not afforded the same liberties as that of the white indentured
servants in Virginia. The first reason he states is that the majority of white indentured servants came
to Virginia on their own free will. Once they had completed their five or seven year contract with
their master, they were free to buy land and begin... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mulattoes are automatically classified with the Negro group regardless as to who or what color
their parents are. When slavery is born, mulatto children lose all possible chances of improving
their social status. And yet in the Caribbean, mulatto are not permitted to be worked in the fields
nor treated as a slave. They are tradesmen, house servants, and especially, concubines. It is the
situation of the locations that enable a different view on the classification of a people, situations
such as men to women ratio and agricultural production. Unlike the Colonist which adopted only
one term from Spain to describe the offspring between a white person and a Negro or Native
American, the islanders used four different names to classify the different levels of skin color;
mulatto, sambo, quadroon, and mestize. Furthermore, in Jordan s essay, he speaks of passing,
and how over a period of time, eventually the Mulattoes offspring will be as white as their master.
He states the meaning of passing, is when the stain (Negro blood) is finally washed out, the result
is a white person one cannot call a Negro. In a letter Henry Laurens writes from England, he
claims, These people are to be free and kept harmless.

islands in control by France being a different situation because of the different cultural heritage. His

Descriptive Essay About Mya
Mya and I always had this sort of tradition when the first of October settled upon us. Ever since
freshman year of high school, we placed it upon ourselves to find a restaurant of cafГ© of some
sort here in Haynes and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. The air by that time was generally beginning to
feel frigid, and to the two of us, that meant it was about time we break out the savory drinks,
mini marshmallows, and of course, the sweet and frothy whipped cream. Thus, this year, we
met at the Cabin, a small restaurant which sat on the border of Haynes and the Foxborough
Woods. Large windows replaced the western wall of the quaint restaurant so the patrons of the
Cabin may watch the Autumn trees and their leaves sway back and forth in the gentle breeze of
this mid afternoon. I ran my finger along the rim of the porcelain cup which sat in front of me,
half empty of the chocolate beverage and completely drained of what whipped cream that had
arrived with it. Compared to some of the other hot cocoa s Mya and I had tasted over the
previous years, this one was rather a letdown. Between its more watered down taste and the lack
of marshmallows, I was sorely disappointed. Nonetheless, hot cocoa was hot cocoa, so I
continued to sip away as did my friend. I watched as Mya sat upright in her chair and ran her
fingers, whose nails were glossed over with a vibrant pink, through her blonde, bobbed hair. That
was the signal that she was interested in starting a conversation, but if I knew one

Do Supplemental Software And Technology Help English As A...
The research question the group asks is, Do supplemental software and technologies help
English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Learner (ELL) students in both
short and long term ways? Our target population for this study is college students that are ELLs.
Finding participants is one part of the study, but since we are researching students on a college
campus they will have to be at least 18 to 30 years old to participate in the study. UMKC has a
very large and diverse campus; we will reach out to the Applied Language Institute (ALI) students
through a class survey. We decided that college would be a better population to start out with
because it provides many social opportunities. We are looking for a population that will provide us
with direct feedback from the trial. Students in college will know how they learn and be able to
explain how technology either helped them or hurt them while learning. Having students participate
on campus also ensures that they have access to internet and WiFi. We are aware that there are
many limitations that face college students, but there are also benefits to choosing students in
college.
Sample
The participants in the study range from 18 to 30 years old. We did not specify what year we are
looking for in college. We just wanted to have adults participate. If there are students that do not fit
into the age range, they should be noted as younger and provide parental consent in order to ensure
that we will be able to

Emotional Intelligence Vs Cognitive Intelligence
I believe emotional intelligence stands ahead of cognitive intelligence by a little though latter is
equally powerful too. Emotional Intelligence Quotient is defined as a set of competencies
demonstrating the ability one has to recognize his or her behaviors, moods, and impulses, and to
manage them best according to the situation (Chib, 2012). Traditional cognitive intelligence is the
ability to plan, reason, and use logical deduction to solve problems, but also the capability to apply
abstract thinking while learning from and responding to the environment ( What is traditional
cognitive intelligence? , 2016). Emotional Intelligenceis more important simply because it
determines how much mentally and psychologically strong and consistent a person is and the very
same strength drives us to keep doing things that are in the path of success.
Ashforth Humphrey (1995) say that it is a common belief that, when emotions are intertwined with
role, performance, or both, they tend to interfere with task achievement. However, to be
emotionally intelligent is to be able to let out emotions the right way. When we are able to stay
humble during success and determined during failures, patient during anger and calm during
frustration, we basically already win. However, on the other hand, no matter how logical we are, if
we are just restless, then it will not be worthwhile. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing The Miller s Tale and The Reve s Tale Essays
Similarities in The Miller s Tale and The Reve s Tale
The Miller s Tale and The Reve s Tale from The Canterbury Tales
are very closely related. They both deal with the relationship between a
jealous man, his wife, and a young scholar(s), and they both are immoral
stories that contain sex and violence. This proves that the Miller and the
Reeve are two very corrupt individuals. However, these tales also share
some differences. For instance, the main character in The Reeve s Tale is
a Miller, while the main character in The Miller s Tale is a carpenter
(which was the Reeve s profession), and both tales are different in the way
the Miller and the Reeve are portrayed. Again the differences... Show more content on

For instance, The Miller s Tale contains several different
occasions of lying and cheating, including the scene where the Miller
cheats Alan and John out of a fair amount of grain, and the scene where
John moves The Miller s wife s baby to confuse the her into sleeping with
him. In comparison, The Reeve s Tale has a similar amount of dishonesty.
For instance, in an elaborate attempt to sleep with the Carpenter s wife,
Nicholas tells the Carpenter, Rain is to is to fall in torrents, such a
scud / It will be twice as bad as Noah s Flood (97). Nicholas, goes on to
tell the Carpenter to build a boat that will carry him and his wife when
the rain comes. However, this narrative is completely fabricated, so he
could visit the Carpenter s wife while the Carpenter is asleep in the boat.
This is a good example of how the two tales share similarities in
conjunction to sexuality and immorality. This similarity also reflect s
upon the tales author, by offering sexuality and immorality as another
corrupt characteristic.
Although, The Miller s Tale and The Reeve s Tale appear to have
similarities, they do share some differences which reveal a lot about the
tale s teller. As an example, both tales contain a wife, a scholar(s), and
either a Carpenter or a Miller. However, when closely examined, the non

the night of June 12, 1994. O.J. Simpson was born and raised in San Francisco, California where
his mother worked as a orderly in a psychiatric ward and his father as a porter in a private club. O.J.
Simpson was one of the most sought after football players of all time. Not only was he loved on
the football field by millions, but also off the field where he was welcomed with open arms by
virtually any group of people. Everybody thought that after O.J.... Show more content on

The physical evidence provided by the prosecution during the trial should have clearly shown that
O.J. Simpson was guilty of murder. Throughout the trial several pieces of incriminating evidence
were shown to the court including; shoes and gloves. To begin, bloody shoeprints were found at the
crime scene in front of Nicole Brown Simpson s house ( List of the Evidence in the O.J. Simpson
Double murder trial. ). These shoe prints were very large in size and they also had a distinct
tread pattern to them. The bloody shoe prints identified at the crime scene exactly matched the
tread of a size 12 Lorenzo by Bruno Magli shoe that Simpson owned. These shoes were a very
rare and expensive Italian made shoe and were sold at Bloomingdale s in New York City which
O.J. frequented ( List of the Evidence in the O.J. Simpson Double murder trial. ). The next item
of physical evidence shown during the trial was a pair of gloves. A single, cashmere lined extra
large Aris Light leather left glove was discovered outside of Nicole Brown Simpson s home and
the right glove at Simpson s estate ( The Evidence. ). In 1990, Nicole bought the exact same pair
of gloves at Bloomingdales in New York. She purchased a pair of extra large Aris Light gloves and
O.J. was frequently spotted wearing them ( The O.J. Simpson Trial: The Incriminating Evidence. ).

How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication
How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication
How we communicate directly impacts how we express ourselves to the world around us. Verbal
communication is key in understanding our world and expressing our own feelings and beliefs to
that world. Yet, verbal communication is not the only form of communication we encounter on a
daily basis. In fact, nonverbal communication also plays an important role in expressing emotions,
beliefs, and can even reinforce social ranking and statuses. However, just like verbal
communication, the language of nonverbal cues can be extremely different from one culture to
another. There are some elements of nonverbal communication which do seem innate to the
biological nature of all humans, but the majority of nonverbal cues are essentially culturally
dependent.
Nonverbal behaviors are a powerful tool for facilitating communication within particular cultures
or regions. There are a number of meanings and methods that are employed with the use of
nonverbal cues. First, they help serve as what is known as emblems, which basically convey
simple messages as would a phrase or a sentence if spoken out loud (Bonvillain 2002). In this
sense, they are a type of second language that conveys meaning, without the use of the voice. One
notable example here is the symbol for A OK in the United States. This is a simple hand gesture
that conveys the meaning that everything is fine. Nonverbal behaviors can also serve as speech
illustrators, which

Latino Music Essay
I have grown up listening to Hip Hop just as I did listening to my mother s blaring Bachata and
Merengue every Sunday morning and from what I can recall, the artists I primarily listened to
were black, or Eminem. The only Spanish rappers I did listen to were Reggaeton artists, meaning
I did not listen to many predominately English speaking Latino rappers. This revelation of my
early musical tastes begs the question as to why I was not exposed to more Latino rappers during
the late nineties and early millennium. In learning about how Latino s have participated within the
realm of Hip Hop, one learns that allow Latino s have played a major role in its foundations, the

African American acceptance of Latino culture stems largely from similar experiences of
prejudice and shared African roots. In addition, black hip hop has included various Latino
elements, illustrating growing acceptance and integrations between both parties. Various
elements present in black hip hop include Spanglish lyrics, rumba rhythms (Morales 300 301),
and the celebration and desire for a Latina woman, who shares similar physique to African
American women (Rivera 131 132). In examining Latino Hip Hop history, an overall theme of
inclusion and exclusion emerges, where Latinos are included if they provide something desirable
and marketable and excluded due to their ethnicity. Because of this, the need to affirm Latin
identity becomes a necessity in order to solidify the Latino presence within the genre. Latino rap
takes on the Latin American experience and builds upon to tell poetic stories of pride, unity, and
discrimination throughout Latino history. This theme of being proud of one s roots plays a
central role in how Spanish speaking rappers may or may not conduct themselves. For many, the
following lyrics illustrate pride in the face of discrimination: Now what you call me? ( Spic) Yeah,

The Italian Agriculture Business Industry

This is a downfall for the Italian image that before the multinationals entered the market was known

Delegation Decentralization
DELEGATION Delegation is an integral component of the organizing process. Since manager is
responsible for the performance of such a large variety of tasks, activities and functions that he
cannot perform them all by himself, he assigns a part of work to his subordinates. In doing so he
keeps with himself those tasks and functions which he consider crucial to his goal accomplishment
and transfer to his subordinates less important work which he need not to do himself. It is through
this process of assignments of task and activities to his sub ordinates that he can devote his time,
energies and attention to the basic managerial functions of planning coordinating and controlling.

task and 6. the exact procedures to be followed. 4. The next step in the delegation flowchart
requires that the leader or the supervisor take an inventory of the resources that are needed for
the successful completion of the task to be delegated. If ample resources are not available, the
required resources should be procured at this step. 5. With all this done, the duties and
responsibilities for the task can be delegated. Also, it s important to establish timelines and
deadlines for the task after discussing the same with the employee to whom the work has been
delegated. 6. The delegation process doesn t end right here, there is one more important thing to do
before the delegation process can be considered as complete.

1000 To 1750 Christianity Analysis
Between 1000 1750, Christianity maintained authority over the people due to religious and
political power, thereby greatly influencing art and education, however exposure to new knowledge
from the Islamic world led to changes in the way the church was perceived and depicted in Western
Europe.
At the beginning of the period during the Medieval Times, the Catholic Church had power and
influence over everyone s lives. The church built up its power over the years through superstition
and engraining in people s minds that the only way to heaven was through church. People believed
this because they were not exposed to any other formal education and anyone that spoke against the
church was subject to heretics. Toward the end of the period, after

Reflection Paper On Travel Pack
Introduction: Throughout the semester, the focus of the project was to use design processes to
create possibilities for technology to be used in active communities. Travel pack is an app that
aims to bring travellers together by showing users, events, attractions and Wi Fi spots. In this
reflective essay, I will be describing how the app works and the project outcomes, how
groupware relates to Travel Pack and how design aesthetics relate directly to a users trust.
Throughout this essay I will report, relate and reason, and reflect on my experiences on the
project. Project Overview My team Packed to the Rafters found that there was a struggle when
travelling where people were stuck with finding places to go or people to meet. Many
backpackers go to cities they have never been to and have problems with knowing what is
happening around them or are hesitant to explore with new people. This is why we wanted to
create a social mobile and computing app that aims to bring together travellers from around the
globe so that they can explore places at ease. Travel Pack provides users with a platform that
allows them to discover various local events, Wi Fi hotspots and other individuals touring the area.
The app itself requires users to create a profile in which they specify their age and interests. They
are then taken to the Landing page which consists of the applications 3 main functions: Wi Fi ,

Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol
Substitution
5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane
using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product
of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver
nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for
further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was
used to calculate the percent yield.
6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the
product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This
indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol
group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73.
These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032
grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was
calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of
one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. This process is often used to
interconvert functional groups, such as in the preparation of alkyl halides. In these reactions,
nucleophiles attack the carbon atom which the electronegative leaving group breaks its bond

Compare And Contrast The Nlb And The National Labor...
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), also
known as a Wagner Act of 1935, permit workers to create unions and choose representatives to
support their rights. The union representation and support are significant elements that protect
workers from illegal actions like discrimination and adverse employment actions. Many
employees view job security as a guarantee of work. The union safeguard employees and represent
their rights during layoffs, and other hard economic times. The idea to establish and support
seniority was created based on job protection and security. The ratio rank principle combines
seniority lists by determining a ratio based on the total number of workers. Many laws, such as a

Literature Review Of Globalization
Up to now the literature review has given an insight into the concept of globalization, and the
understanding of several academics in the light of how this phenomenon developed over the years.
It is then essential to cover what the economic benefits of globalization are, and how these may
impact a sector or company. Most of the literature study s that have been written on the economic
benefits of globalizationhave been after 2006. The reason is because the studies used the
globalization index which was created by Dreher (2006) then further developed by Dreher (2008)
again. Many of the empirical studies used this index as indicator as a base to form their findings.

needs of the changing environment.
The perspective of Driffield and Karoglou (2016) on this issue, discuss that the biggest restriction to
free trade and globalization is uncertainty. Therefore, many organizations will hinder when it comes
making strategic choices about their financial states. Subsequently they derive that one of the most
positive impacts that has occurred because globalization is the creation of the free market. They
say that the creation of this market has made it easier for organization in the car industry to easily

Furthermore, there is also literature written on the impact free trade has on the gears of an
economic state. One of the components is the effects on employment, and how the free movement

The Dictator s Learning Curve By William J. Dobson
Bouazizi exposed the real truths behind the rampant inflation, unemployment, and police brutality
problems that were really plaguing Tunisia. Once the few videos and comments started to get
through the Internet blocking efforts to the world media then the movement gained national
attention and became a bigger influence on toppling the existing government.
In Egypt we saw the blocking of Twitter and Facebook happen; this seemed all too common and
even fueled the emotion driven actions of the people not only of Egypt, but in Tunisia, Libya,
Syria, and even into China later on. We saw countries pay their way out of the Arab Spring, block
social media, and force propagandized local and international news. In the book The Dictator s
Learning Curve by William J. Dobson, there is a chapter where he visits China during the Arab
Spring and states that CNN was blocked throughout China to stop any threats, and to stop the
Chinese citizens from seeing the outside world with the current situation unfolding. Dobson talks
about in his book how on edge some of the governments were when he was visiting; stating that
Omar Afifi had several cell phones at which he could be contacted on and skype where officials
kept him informed about the unfolding uprisings in Egypt.
When we consider the social and technological reasons for the uprising we also have to start

Informative Speech About Brutus
You have just been elected president of the united states. Congratulations, just about everyone
voted for you. You re going to be inaugurated today, how exciting. Your best friend, who you have
known as long as you can remember, is coming over with some of his friends to hang out before
you re officially president. They arrive and you re having a fine time, though a little confusing,
when all the sudden one of them stabs you. You reach out for your best friend s support, but they
just stab you as well. This is basically the last day of Caesars life. He was stabbed to deathby those
he trusted, his best friend Brutus was one of the betrayers. Some try to justify Brutus actions by
saying that he was trying to save Rome from a power hungry leader . But Brutus said himself
that, [he has] not known when his [Caesar s] affections swayed more than his reason. So from this
we know that Caesar was not ambitious. The actions of Brutus were so severe that they even
started a sort of civil warin Rome, ending countless lives and putting others in danger. So even if he
didn t mean to be, Brutus was definitely a betrayer.
Those who disagree may say Brutus was trying to do what was best for Rome. They believe his
thinking is that once Caesar had power he would abuse it, as many do. This was his attempt to
save Rome from a power hungry, enslaving ruler. However, Brutus himself said that: [he has] not
known when his [Caesar s] affections swayed more than his reason. This shows that

Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
A book review by Narendran Santhanam (G10031)
Contents Introduction3 A brief summary3 Evaluation5 Conclusion5
Introduction Blink by Malcolm Gladwell is a book about how we think without thinking, about
choices that seem to be made in an instant in the blink of an eye that actually aren t as simple as
they seem. The book deals with the smallest components of our everyday lives the content and
origin of those instantaneous impressions and conclusions that spontaneously arise whenever we
meet a new person or confront a complex situation or have to make a decision under conditions of
stress.
A brief summary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps one of the most important points made by Gladwell in this book is that neither analytical
nor intuitive thinking is good or bad. But under chaotic conditions, the lesser the information
available, the better because information overload can delay decisions, and under pressure,
delayed decisions are worse than bad decisions. Gladwell illustrates this with an astonishing
example of an experiment where sales of a jam shop were as high as thirty percent more when they
had only six types of jam than when they had twenty four.
What Gladwell calls thin slicing or rapid cognition, should be done in context. Examples of the
market researches on taste test of Coke and Pepsi samples, survey of people s acceptance of
Michael Kenna s music and two radically new TV shows on CBS have been quoted to emphasize
the importance of context in thin slicing. Numerous instances of products that received higher
acceptance among the public only because they were packaged differently make it clear to us that
thin slicing is useful only when done the right way. When a product is new and different, it is
vulnerable to market research, which in most cases is not done in the right context, thus leading to
the product being shelved.
Having established the fact that rapid cognition is not always as accurate as one would want it to
be, Gladwell now goes on to the topic of reading the minds of others just by looking

as: Extraversion (E) gregariousness, sociability, affiliation, dominance, boldness and forcefulness,

LEGO has been in the toy industry since the Great Depression when Danish carpenter Ole Kirk
Kristiansen and his sons began making wooden toys (Bigus, 2011). Showing ingenuitive spirit,
after the end of World War II, LEGO became the first company in Denmark to purchase a plastic
injection molding machine, this was an expensive moving hinging on the risk that plastic toys were
the toy of the future (Bigus, 2011). Soon after the purchase, LEGO expanded its business to include
the first plastic LEGO bricks (Bigus, 2011). Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, one of Kristensen s sons

notice inefficiency in these areas and made many changes in order to bring the company back on
track to profitability. These changes allowed LEGO by 2010, to reach all time high annual sales

Benefits Of A New Electric Model For The Chinese Car Buyers
To increase sales, and help realize Winterkorn s vision, VW invested 18.2 billion euros in
building larger manufacturing facilities to satisfy the demand (Appendix D). Additionally, VW
decided to manufacture new electric models to cater for the Chinese car buyers. Both initiatives
worked fine, until the Chinese economic downturn hit, and VW sales started slowly dwindling
in China. C.For the US Market: Along with China, the US market is considered among the
largest auto markets in the world. Just in 2015, around 7.7 million cars were sold, and 4.35
were locally produced. VW board enlisted the company on a mission to increase its US units
sold to 1 million by 2018 from very modest sales (324,000 vehicles sold) in 2007. The numbers
improved in 2012 reaching 438,145 Vehicles, slipped back down to 366,970 by 2014, and
recovered well up until September 2015. To cater for the US auto market trends, VW invested 1
Billion dollars in an assembling plant in Tennessee to design new sedans. The company also
decided to bring its successful and European designed, BlueTDI Clean Diesel car to the US market.
III.International Growth Strategy Implications The above international strategic moves, required
VW to serve different market segments which have different regulatory compliances, entry barriers
and market trends. It also meant that VW needs to compete strongly against GM in China, ensure

Culturally Inclusive Environment A culturally inclusive environment requires mutual respect,
effective relationships, clear communication, explicit understandings about expectations and critical
self reflection. In an inclusive environment, people of all cultural orientations can: Freely express
who they are, their own opinions and points of view. Fully participate in teaching, learning, work

Essay on The National Response Framework
Having a basic understanding of community or national emergency plans can assist families in
disaster. This is especially true during the response phase. The National Response Framework
(NRF) is a great example of a national community reference. According to FEMA s publication,
The National Response Framework, from 2013, the NRF is a guide which describes the basis of
national response to any form of disaster. The NRF was developed from a long line of response
guidance plans. The first was the Federal Response plan which was replaced by the National
Response Plan. Then in 2008, the NRF was developed to make national response guidance more
efficient as well as to include practices created after Hurricane Katrina. The NRF is comprised...

The Incident Command System Today, the Incident Command System (ICS) is a major
component of NIMS and is widely used in emergency management response. However, this was
not always the case. According to David A. McEntire and Gregg Dawson, authors of the article,
The intergovernmental Context, ICS was originally developed by the fire service in 1970. Its
purpose was to assist in the command of wildfire events. It was unique because it standardized
operations, yet offered flexibility so that it could be used on any number of events, regardless of
size or type (McEntire Dawson, 2007, p. 63).
The book, National Incident Management System: Principles and Practice, by Dr. Donald W.
Walsh, Dr. Hank T. Christen, Christian E. Callsen, Geoffrey T. Miller, Paul M. Maniscalco,
Graydon C. Lord, and Neal J. Dolan, describes ICS as, ...a system for domestic incident
management that is based on an expandable, flexible structure... (Walsh, et al., 2012, p. 12). Due to
this flexibility, Walsh et al. state that ICS is commonly used by all levels of government as well as
by a number of non governmental agencies and the private sector. ICS is structured around five
sections. These sections are command, operations, planning, logistics, and finance/administration

Eassy On Smoking
1.0Introduction
Tobacco is a major contributor to deaths from chronic diseases . Tobacco is the world s single
most avoidable cause of death and illness. By the end of the twentieth century, cigarettes killed
approximately five million people annually worldwide and tobacco is expected to take the lives of
nearly one half of the world s 1.1 billion current users. It is predicted that during the first quarter
century, the number of smokers will increase by a half billion, and the number of annual tobacco
related deaths will more than triple to 10 million, with developing countries suffering the greatest
impact. The annual death toll is projected to increase several fold in low income countries by the
year 2020, and Pakistan is no exception. Although the Government of Pakistan in 1997 identified
smoking as one of the leading causes of mortality, it remains one of the most serious public health
challenges.
Smoking is strongly associated with age, which may suggest social tolerance to smoking in this
setting and that social and educational variables appear to play a significant role in smoking among
universities students. According to research universities and college students on tobacco use,
indicated that more than half of the students used a tobacco product. Nowadays the prevalence of
smoking continues to increase especially among the younger age students. Tobacco smokingis a
major risk factor for non communicable diseases such as ischemic heart disease, stroke, chronic

  • 2. Simpson Evenness The results show that Manuel Antonio has the highest Simpson s Index of Diversity with a .92. I believe that these results are miss leading. The Simpson s Index of Diversity takes into account both species richness and evenness. Richness is defined as the number of species per sample and evenness is defined as a measure of the relative abundance of the different speciesmaking up the richness of an area (Country Side Info). Manuel Antonio was very even, all of the plantspecies in the area had one or two individuals. The other samples that I took all had at least one species that was much more prevalent than the others. Due to evenness being a main factor in the Simpson s Diversity of Index is why according to this formula Manuel Antonio... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first drawback is we do not know the names of the plants. If we knew the names of the plants or at least what families they are in we could gain a lot more from our research. Secondly, how we counted the moss may lead to incorrect results. We counted the plants by number but originally we just wrote down, for example, one patch of moss. We then had to go back and assign it a number based on the percent of area we thought the moss was covering. Thirdly, our sample sizes were small. If they were larger we would have had a bigger picture of the biodiversity in the area. For example, in Monteverde if we had a larger sample size it may have reached to where the plants were denser farther off the trail. This would lead to Monteverde having a higher Simpson Index of Diversity. Lastly, there is always human bias. I chose my spots and many things influenced where I chose such as quantity of plants and how pretty the plants were. If I had to do this experiment over again I would use larger sample sizes so I could get a better idea of the biodiversity. I would also want to fix the way we accounted for moss. Lastly, I would want to know more about the plants we were counting so more information could be extracted from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Child Prostitution in Asia Child Prostitution in Asia In ancient times, children were viewed as smaller versions of adults. There was little perceptible difference between an adult and their younger counterparts. By the Middle Ages and up until the Renaissance, girls as young as twelve were still considered marriageable age. Sexualizing children was a form of their education and indoctrination into the world of adults. However, in the modern time, we have come to understand that children and childhood is a time for innocence and development. The historical adulteration of children was rightly seen as barbaric and archaic. Forcing children into adult roles can lead to a destructive adulthood. Physical and emotional abuse of children can destroy someone. Even worse is the type of abuse characterized by sexual activity and sexual interaction with children. The sexual abuse of children leads to abnormal development and an adult with severe mental problems, prone to violence and often continuing the chain of abuse into subsequent generations. Forcing a child to commit sexual acts before they are physically or mentally mature enough to handle it is the worst kind of crime. Yet, in nations all over the world, this kind of abuse not only occurs, but is a profitable business for perpetrators. Child prostitutionis illegal all over the world, but in some countries the laws against child prostitution and the use of underage people for sexual interactions are lax and often go unenforced. • 4. The Stress Of Civilian Life The Stress of Civilian Life Belinda Maio Liberty University Abstract The stress that a soldier faces when they leave the military can be overwhelming. Most soldiers enlist out of high school or College. They go from living with their parents to living within the fortress of military institutions. They are given everything that they need while they are in the service. They learn to live a certain type of life. This life is organized and there is little that the servicemen need to figure out for themselves. They have everything that they can ever need right on the base where they live. Then after years of service, they are retired or they do not reenlist. Now this is where their stress begins. They are faced with now finding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is not a flaw of the military servicemen and woman it is just the way the system is set up. The Money Going from the military life to being a civilian can put a financial hardship on the family mostly if the servicemen are unable to find work when they get out of the military. The family is then forced to go on a tight budget. In order to understand the hardship on the servicemen it is important to understand how the military works as far as money, and benefits that the servicemen are given and how they helped them make ends meet. In the military, servicemen are used to getting money for their food, rent, and clothing. Every month in the military depending on your rank, you get B.H.A. This stands for Basic Housing Allowance. The higher rank you are the more money you get. So in a sense you are living rent free and can possibly make money if your rent is lower than your B.HA. Then you get B.A.S which stands for Basic allowance for subsistence. Now this is a set amount. There is a single amount and a married amount. This money is used for groceries each month. The military member also gets a clothing allowance. This is set to your rank also. There is also the cost of living allowance. So if you live in a place which has a high cost of living you would receive an adjustment to make up for this and so you can afford to live there. Along with all the money that the servicemen and woman get there are also bonus pays for combat, hazardous duty pay, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kenneth Burke is known for the knowledge of human symbolic behavior. He was associated with many narrative theories. He focused on language as it is used to persuade people to an action, and defined persuasion as the use of language as a symbolic means of inducing cooperation beings that by nature respond to symbols. (Burke, 1970, Grammar, p. 43) This active cooperation is induced by what he called identification which is very similar to Aristotle s common ground and our use of co creation (Larson, 2007, p. 127) According to Burke, identification develops through the linguistic of sharing what he called sub stances. He had divided the word into its prefix, sub meaning beneath and stances meaning places. Burke noted that these sub stances or places emerge in the words we use to define things, persons and issues. Kenneth Burke uses common ground by physical things like for example branded clothing. According to Larson, Burke indicates that, all words have emotional shading and reveal the feelings, attitudes, values, and judgment of the user. For example, he uses the word manipulate which can potentially carry a negative meaning by changing people s minds. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Colonist s had already begun to strategize legalities in regards on how black peoplewere to be disciplined. Higginbotham has two reasons why Africans were not afforded the same liberties as that of the white indentured servants in Virginia. Ever since freshman year of high school, we placed it upon ourselves to find a restaurant of cafГ© of some sort here in Haynes and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. The air by that time was generally beginning to feel frigid, and to the two of us, that meant it was about time we break out the savory drinks, mini marshmallows, and of course, the sweet and frothy whipped cream. Thus, this year, we met at the Cabin, a small restaurant which sat on the border of Haynes and the Foxborough Woods. Large windows replaced the western wall of the quaint restaurant so the patrons of the Cabin may watch the Autumn trees and their leaves sway back and forth in the gentle breeze of this mid afternoon. I ran my finger along the rim of the porcelain cup which sat in front of me, half empty of the chocolate beverage and completely drained of what whipped cream that had arrived with it. Compared to some of the other hot cocoa s Mya and I had tasted over the previous years, this one was rather a letdown. Between its more watered down taste and the lack of marshmallows, I was sorely disappointed. Nonetheless, hot cocoa was hot cocoa, so I continued to sip away as did my friend. Emotional Intelligence Quotient is defined as a set of competencies demonstrating the ability one has to recognize his or her behaviors, moods, and impulses, and to manage them best according to the situation (Chib, 2012). Traditional cognitive intelligence is the ability to plan, reason, and use logical deduction to solve problems, but also the capability to apply abstract thinking while learning from and responding to the environment ( What is traditional cognitive intelligence? , 2016). Emotional Intelligenceis more important simply because it determines how much mentally and psychologically strong and consistent a person is and the very same strength drives us to keep doing things that are in the path of success. Ashforth Humphrey (1995) say that it is a common belief that, when emotions are intertwined with role, performance, or both, they tend to interfere with task achievement. However, to be emotionally intelligent is to be able to let out emotions the right way. When we are able to stay humble during success and determined during failures, patient during anger and calm during frustration, we basically already win. How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication How we communicate directly impacts how we express ourselves to the world around us. Verbal communication is key in understanding our world and expressing our own feelings and beliefs to that world. Yet, verbal communication is not the only form of communication we encounter on a daily basis. In fact, nonverbal communication also plays an important role in expressing emotions, beliefs, and can even reinforce social ranking and statuses. However, just like verbal communication, the language of nonverbal cues can be extremely different from one culture to another. There are some elements of nonverbal communication which do seem innate to the biological nature of all humans, but the majority of nonverbal cues are essentially culturally dependent. Nonverbal behaviors are a powerful tool for facilitating communication within particular cultures or regions. There are a number of meanings and methods that are employed with the use of nonverbal cues. First, they help serve as what is known as emblems, which basically convey simple messages as would a phrase or a sentence if spoken out loud (Bonvillain 2002). In this sense, they are a type of second language that conveys meaning, without the use of the voice. One notable example here is the symbol for A OK in the United States. At the beginning of the period during the Medieval Times, the Catholic Church had power and influence over everyone s lives. The church built up its power over the years through superstition and engraining in people s minds that the only way to heaven was through church. People believed this because they were not exposed to any other formal education and anyone that spoke against the church was subject to heretics. Toward the end of the period, after ... • 26. Reflection Paper On Travel Pack Introduction: Throughout the semester, the focus of the project was to use design processes to create possibilities for technology to be used in active communities. Travel pack is an app that aims to bring travellers together by showing users, events, attractions and Wi Fi spots. In this reflective essay, I will be describing how the app works and the project outcomes, how groupware relates to Travel Pack and how design aesthetics relate directly to a users trust. Throughout this essay I will report, relate and reason, and reflect on my experiences on the project. Project Overview My team Packed to the Rafters found that there was a struggle when travelling where people were stuck with finding places to go or people to meet. Many backpackers go to cities they have never been to and have problems with knowing what is happening around them or are hesitant to explore with new people. This is why we wanted to create a social mobile and computing app that aims to bring together travellers from around the globe so that they can explore places at ease. Travel Pack provides users with a platform that allows them to discover various local events, Wi Fi hotspots and other individuals touring the area. The app itself requires users to create a profile in which they specify their age and interests. They are then taken to the Landing page which consists of the applications 3 main functions: Wi Fi , Popular Attraction and events you have create/are attending. Users are also able ... • 27. Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol Substitution 5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was used to calculate the percent yield. 6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73. These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032 grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. This process is often used to interconvert functional groups, such as in the preparation of alkyl halides. In these reactions, nucleophiles attack the carbon atom which the electronegative leaving group breaks its bond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The union representation and support are significant elements that protect workers from illegal actions like discrimination and adverse employment actions. Many employees view job security as a guarantee of work. The union safeguard employees and represent their rights during layoffs, and other hard economic times. The idea to establish and support seniority was created based on job protection and security. The ratio rank principle combines seniority lists by determining a ratio based on the total number of workers. Dobson Bouazizi exposed the real truths behind the rampant inflation, unemployment, and police brutality problems that were really plaguing Tunisia. Once the few videos and comments started to get through the Internet blocking efforts to the world media then the movement gained national attention and became a bigger influence on toppling the existing government. In Egypt we saw the blocking of Twitter and Facebook happen; this seemed all too common and even fueled the emotion driven actions of the people not only of Egypt, but in Tunisia, Libya, Syria, and even into China later on. We saw countries pay their way out of the Arab Spring, block social media, and force propagandized local and international news. In the book The Dictator s Learning Curve by William J. Dobson, there is a chapter where he visits China during the Arab Spring and states that CNN was blocked throughout China to stop any threats, and to stop the Chinese citizens from seeing the outside world with the current situation unfolding. Dobson talks about in his book how on edge some of the governments were when he was visiting; stating that Omar Afifi had several cell phones at which he could be contacted on and skype where officials kept him informed about the unfolding uprisings in Egypt. They arrive and you re having a fine time, though a little confusing, when all the sudden one of them stabs you. You reach out for your best friend s support, but they just stab you as well. This is basically the last day of Caesars life. He was stabbed to deathby those he trusted, his best friend Brutus was one of the betrayers. Some try to justify Brutus actions by saying that he was trying to save Rome from a power hungry leader . But Brutus said himself that, [he has] not known when his [Caesar s] affections swayed more than his reason. So from this we know that Caesar was not ambitious. The actions of Brutus were so severe that they even started a sort of civil warin Rome, ending countless lives and putting others in danger. So even if he didn t mean to be, Brutus was definitely a betrayer. Those who disagree may say Brutus was trying to do what was best for Rome. They believe his thinking is that once Caesar had power he would abuse it, as many do. This was his attempt to save Rome from a power hungry, enslaving ruler. A brief summary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps one of the most important points made by Gladwell in this book is that neither analytical nor intuitive thinking is good or bad. But under chaotic conditions, the lesser the information available, the better because information overload can delay decisions, and under pressure, delayed decisions are worse than bad decisions. Gladwell illustrates this with an astonishing example of an experiment where sales of a jam shop were as high as thirty percent more when they had only six types of jam than when they had twenty four. What Gladwell calls thin slicing or rapid cognition, should be done in context. Examples of the market researches on taste test of Coke and Pepsi samples, survey of people s acceptance of Michael Kenna s music and two radically new TV shows on CBS have been quoted to emphasize the importance of context in thin slicing. Numerous instances of products that received higher acceptance among the public only because they were packaged differently make it clear to us that thin slicing is useful only when done the right way. When a product is new and different, it is vulnerable to market research, which in most cases is not done in the right context, thus leading to the product being shelved. Having established the fact that rapid cognition is not always as accurate as one would want it to be, Gladwell now goes on to the topic of reading the minds of others just by looking ...
