Class Differences In Sociological Analysis
Social structures are limitations that affect the lives of individuals and groups in the society. Social
structures such as class, gender and ethnicity are the limitations that society has to cope with in one
way or another (Lawson et al, 2002). Class (upper class, middle class, and poor) is a the most
favoured limitation that influence the lives of individuals and groups. Social class is the key source of
economic and material inequality and is found in all societies (Marron et al, 2011).
Karl Marx and Max Weber are two classical sociologists that explain the term social structures in
global perspective. Karl Marx argued that there were two classes: the ruling class (bourgeoisie) and
the working class (proletariat) (Chris Yuill et al, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People that lives in a deprived area are more likely to smell poverty (Macdonald et al, 2005). The
wealth or poverty of an urban environment influences the type of public services and private sector
enterprises (Annandale, 2014). For example, women born between 2010 and 2012, the life expectation
in a relatively well to do region of Dorset was 86.6 years and 78.5 years for the women born in a
relatively poor region of Glasgow. Also, men aged 65 in a relatively well to do region of Harrow,
could hope to live for another 20.9 years compared to 14.9 years in Glasgow (ONS,

Symbiotic Relationships In South America
Presently, 6.8 billion people exist on the Earth today. Combined, the entirety of farmland needed for
these billions of people to be fed is equivalent to the size of South America. The population of Earth is
still steadily increasing. Populations are expected to continue rising to 9.6 billion within the year 2050.
Each one of these extra people also needing more healthy food, clean water, space, and energy to
survive. When these extra bodies arrive, in addition to crop late the size of South America, an extra
plot the size of Brazil will also be needed. This is not even including the land that every other creature

The excess of carbon in the atmosphere is the cause of global climate change. To reverse global
warming we must balance the carbon cycle by removing carbon from the atmosphere and returning it
to the plants and to the soil (4). Though in the end, carbon exists in everything and the carbon cycle is
much more complex because it includes every plant, animal, microbe, fallen tree, body of water, bit of
soil, breath of air, plume of smoke, combustion of fossil fuel, decaying particle, and bubble popping to
the surface of a swamp (5). Industrial farming has disrupted this cycle. If we completely halted the
burning of fossil fuels today, which we can not by any means, climate change would still continue
through modern agriculture. The key to reversing global warming is not solely through solar panels
and ethanol fuel, but in proper symbiotic farming

Analysis Of Highsmith Moved Into The Yaddo Artist s Retreat
In 1948, Highsmith moved into the Yaddo artist s retreat, a community which aims to to nurture the
creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive
environment (Yaddo). During her time here, she lived generally disconnected from the outside world
and completely immersed herself in her writing. When not working on her novel, she was journaling.
Murder, she wrote, is a kind of making love, a kind of possessing. She described it as feeling quite
close to murder, with her hands on her lover s throat instantly making the victim cool and rigid as a
statue ( Murder for Pleasure 54). Her personal journals were strangely reflective of the general trend

Highsmith, who was never exclusive with Brandel, resented having sex with him. However, despite
the repulsion she felt towards her partner, Patricia was determined to make it work. For six months,
Highsmith underwent psychoanalysis in an effort to regularize herself sexually so she could marry
Brandel (Schenkar 138 139). Although she withdrew from treatment, the psychological community
heavily impacted the outlook Highsmith had on her personal relationships in her life. This is
especially prevalent in regards to her sexuality. Strangers on a Train, Highsmith s first novel, deals
with both psychopathy and homosexuality. The main characters of this novel happen upon one another
during a chance encounter on a train. Guy, the protagonist, meets Bruno. Afterward, the two start
discussing the problems in their lives, and Guy spills his heart out to Bruno, for Bruno was not the
ordinary stranger on the train by any means. He was cruel and corrupt enough himself to appreciate a
story like that of his first love (Highsmith, Strangers 23). Once the two have gotten to know one
another, Bruno seems to make a joke about each killing off the individual who creates issues in the
other s life. Guy is disturbed by this idea, but Bruno is serious. At this point, Highsmith starts
developing the psychopathic buildup of Guy. Throughout the novel, Guy is shown to be a considerate,
caring man. At one point, he thinks the taste of Scotch, though Guy didn t much care for

Student Voter Turnout
Intentions
The research team s question is why the student voter turnout is so low, and what can be done to
improve turnout among students. With this research question, the team wants to find out how involved
students are in the voting process while also determining the specific causes that are deterring or
moving students away from voting. The research team has determined that the low voter turnout
among students is an issue because this voting age is such a large group that it is now rivaling with the
Baby Boomers. However, even though that both groups are almost the same size, the Baby Boomers,
have a much higher voter turnout than Millennials (students). In the 2016 presidential election, the
voter turnout for Baby Boomers was 69 percent while the Millennial voter turnout was 46 percent
(Khalid 2016). The purpose of this research is to determine why this ... Show more content on

political club organizations on Ball State s campus. The research team requested a representative from
each group that could provide an expert opinion that could aid in determining the answer for the
research question. The first organization was College Democrats and the other was College

Strategic implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to
accomplish strategic objectives and goals. It should be considered the blueprint for realizing the
organization s vision. The success of any strategy is solely dependent upon the effectiveness of its
implementation and execution. Ram Charan s New York Times bestseller, Execution: The Discipline
of Getting Things Done, refers to implementation and execution of strategy as a systematic way of
exposing reality and acting on it. The framework for successful implementation includes building an
organization capable of executing strategy, proper resource allocation, support policies, continuous
improvement, performance based incentives, and strategic leadership. KaBloom founder, David
Hartstein, provided a sound strategy to realize his vision, however flaws in various elements of
implementation led to continued problems for KaBloom. Executing the Vision As we learned in

visual differentiation, low cost, and product variety. Eye catching stores, strategically located in high

Pixar Merger Essay
Walt Disney has agreed on February 17th agreed to acquire Pixar, the animated film studio, in a $7.4
billion deal ($6.3 billion in stock plus $1.1 billion of the company s cash) it hopes will give new life to
its animation department and better position the company to compete in the digitalized media, while
noting that the price tag may water down Disney s profits in the near term. The deal also gives Pixar
and Jobs unprecedented access into what is perhaps the world s most renowned entertainment brand,
bringing together Disney s historic franchise of animated characters, such as Mickey, Minnie Mouse
and Donald Duck, with Pixar s stable of cartoon hits, including the two Toy Story films, Finding
Nemo and The Incredibles.
Disney and Pixar can now collaborate without the barriers that come from two different companies
with two different sets of shareholders. Several Pixar executives will oversee Disney s animation unit
along with their own operations. Risks include: The issuance of shares of Disney common stock to
Pixar shareholders in the merger will initially have a negative impact on the earnings per share of the
combined company and will decrease the aggregate voting power of current Disney stockholders and

Hildegard Von Bingen Vision
In the 2009 film, Vision: The Life of Hildegard von Bingen, the writer/director Margarethe von Trotta
puts focus on Hildegard s journey to serve the Lord as best she can, in a time where the church is run
by powerful men, and where the Roman Catholic Church is focused on centralizing the church and
government though the first crusades. Hildegard (Barbara Sukowa) changes the history of the church
by transcribing her visions into text and by breaking away from her cloister to start her own
monasteries. As a visionary, she sees God through a different lens and thinks of him not to be feared,
but to be celebrated. She believes his gifts will heal and guide, so long as one s heart is pure and
humble. Margarethe von Trotta does a great job of showing the audience that Hildegard s view of God
is not the same as the masses, some of which viewed God as a punisher that should be feared. As the
film opened, the audience was exposed to the apocalyptic thinking of members of the church. The first
scene of the movie shows a gathering of people in a place of worship, waiting out the end of the
world. This congregation is surprised to wake up to another day. This was a common theme in earlier
Christianity, and a view that later in the movie, we realize Hildegard von Bingen didn t share. A
similar scene in terms of how one viewed God, was that of self flagellation early on in the movie.
With the self harming of one s body for sacrifice to God, to suffer as Jesus did, it gives the

Quebec Sovereigntists Swot Analysis
This essay looks to discuss Quebec sovereigntists and federalists, and how they differ in their
understandings of Canada and Quebec. To accomplish this, the paper looks at three points of
contention; how to understand history, the nature of the Quebec state, and recognition of Quebec. The
three points of contention show where the two view diverge and why, but the paper views these points
as merely pieces of the puzzle. As such only after looking at all three points does the paper reach a
conclusion about the real differences between the two views. The paper concludes that sovereigntists
view Quebec as distinct enfranchised nation within the confines of Canada, and while viewing Canada
as a subjugator and an enemy to Quebec. In comparison, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, only the sovereigntists us Quebec`s history as a means to define Canada. Do to the nature of
their relationship, they see Canada as a force that undermines Quebec. The federalists may agree that
Canada undermined Quebec in the past, but this does not lead them to make any decisions about the
country as whole like the sovereigntists. But this does mean that both agree about the nature of
Quebec`s history. Secondly, both want to move on from this history. But this is where differences
arise. Federalists hold that to move on from the past, Quebec must simply forget about it and instead
value progress. But to the sovereigntists it s not so simple. They view history as creating a path for
Quebec`s future, a path of subjugation by Canada. As such, the sovereigntists search for a critical
juncture to create a new path. They conclude is sovereignty as it naturally follows from the history of
Quebec. This in turn brings us to the final comparison, the justification for sovereignty. Sovereigntists
see sovereignty as following naturally from the history of Quebec, and furthermore being justified by
the nature of the history. Federalists however do not. This is presumably due to the fact that they do
not see history as creating a path, and as such see the future as open and free. Thus the history of
Quebec causes sovereigntists to have a negative view of Canada, create a path for Quebec, and
justifying sovereignty, while federalists see the past as not

These formations of strategies are presented through Piaget, Concrete Operations.
The characteristics of the Concrete operation (Lightfoot, pg397 398) that we can focus on is identity,
logical necessity, conservation, and reversibility. Identify is where children realize that even though
the child is tagged by the person who is it there is no addition or subtraction of anything from the child
to alter the child, personality or form. Through logical necessity they are appeared frozen, following
the rules of the game and thorough logical reasoning they are able to determine, that they are not
actually frozen but rather they are pretending to be. Children comprehends that the person who was
tagged is not actually frozen but rather they are only their appearance is view so, acting like they are
frozen shows signs of the ability to understand, conservation. They also, are able to apply reversibility
to the game, understanding that the person who is frozen can be un frozen after they been tagged by
the person who is it , by the same action of another player tagging them.
Their mental operation is more pronounced, capable to assess their own thoughts and is more
organized in their thought process, able to think about different solution, ideas and alternatives, as well
as the cause and effects of their actions.

The Impacts Of The Holocaust And The Holocaust
The Holocaust, a genocide which lasted from 1942 to 1945 in which around 6 million European
Jewish people were killed, was the result of the Ideals of the the past chancellor of Germany, Adolf
Hitler. Hitler came into power by capitalising on world wide events such as the great depression in
1929 resulting from the Wall Street crash. He began spreading his ideals of anti semitism to the
German population in preparation for the Final Solution , which became known as the Holocaust with
the assistance of propaganda, violence, and an economic boycott. Most of the impacts resulting from
his methods proved to be extremely valuable to the success of the preparation as they efficiently and
effectively brainwashed a hateful image of the Jewish population into the minds of the German people
and aligned them with Hitler s ideals of anti Semitism. However, some of his methods did were not
valuable to preparing the German people as they were not able to depict a hateful image of the Jews.
Propaganda was arguably one of the most effective ways for ideas to be spread around rapidly, In his
autobiography, Mien Kampf, Hitler states: Propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole people.....
Propaganda works on the general public from the standpoint of an idea and makes them ripe for the
victory of this idea. It shows that Hitler understood the effectiveness of propaganda and used it to
spread his anti Semitist ideals towards the German people to create a negative image of the Jewish

Ursus In The Man Who Laughs By Victor Hugo
H The Man Who Laughs is a timeless novel centered around the horrific deeds of the Comprachicos
during the 17th century. Written while in exile, Victor Hugo s work calls attention to the social
injustices of the working class of the time and the opposing sides of human nature that still hold true
today. The radically different sides of human nature exhibited in this novel compare moral goodness
and inclinations towards evil found in humanity. Hugo begins his piece with preliminary chapters
explaining key elements, people, and history involved in the plot of the novel. Ursus is the first
character mentioned and is by far the most bewildering and frustrating character of the novel. The
preliminary chapter describes Ursus as a literary genius, an eccentric ventriloquist, a doctor and drug
dealer, and a person who delights in hypocrites. Hugo hints at Ursus being a witch or devil worshipper
despite his unbelief. He seems a rather unpleasant and misled fellow, genius though he be. His sour
countenance and angry mutterings to Gwynplaine and Dea in the first chapter, however, hid true
concern and human empathy. Having already formed a negative opinion of Ursus, this compassion
was a stark contrast to the frustrating and hardened man described in the preliminary chapter. I had
formed a strong opinion against Ursus, and this revelation caused me to realize that my subconscious
and preconceived notions of his evil nature were flawed. Ursus reminds the reader that the world is

Disney World
Throughout the world there are so many beautiful and wonderful places to go and spend time to
explore and to relax. From going to a beach, skiing in the mountains, to luxury resorts, all and many
more would make for a great vacation. Every person may think differently and has different
expectations than others of what the best vacation destination would be. However, there is one
destination that so many has thought very highly of. This vacation spot for many is Disney World.
Disney World has been known for many years now to be a wonderful place to go young or old to have
an exciting time. Capturing so many of the scenes and characters from recent and old Disney movies
as well as adding in the thrilling rides and glamorous restaurants in castles, Disney World has truly
brought many unforgettable memories to life. Because of the unbelievable moments there is a reason it
is called one of the happiest places on earth.
In 1964, Walt Disney began to secretly buy millions of dollar s worth of central Florida (History).
Also known as D Day for Orlando, Walt announced that he planned to build a spectacular theme park.
Micky Mouse was one of the characters that got to escort some of the first visitors into the magic
Kingdom. Numerous people including celebrities took part in the celebrations (History). Disney World
has the incredible ability to turn every vacation into a once in a life time experience (Don). The
attention in detail that Walt put into the park makes it seem almost magical to many. An example of
the details of Disney World would be their rides. Many parks rides can feature a ton of steel, pipes,
and fences (Albert). Disney makes their rides have a good theme along the way and one can hardly see
any sight of backstage stairs up the roller coaster or fences around the ride (Albert). Everywhere
someone would look not only on the rides there will be pleasing to the eye, funny or fits in with the
theme of the land (Albert).
Still, one can never forget the work it takes everyday to keep Disney World up and going. The Cast

Science, Technology Affect The Religion Of Islam
. New scientific, technological and medical innovation in the Islamic empire affected the religion of
Islam. The Islamic empire is known for Dar Al Islam which is the Islamic golden age where new
technologies etc. flourish the religion of Islam. Scientific, medical, and philosophical texts, especially
from ancient Greece, the Hellenistic world, and India, were systematically translated into Arabic, for
several centuries providing an enormous boost to Islamic scholarship and science. (440) This means
that the Muslims ancient texts related to science, medicine and philosophy, and written it in Arabic.
This helped the Islamic empire because it expanded their knowledge and helped them understand the
material from other empires as well. This affected Islam because with understanding of the texts, they
would incorporate it into the faith to meet the standards of Sharia. Going more in depth, the Arabs in
the Islamic empire developed Algebra, which is used today. Using Indian numerical notation, for
example, Arab scholars developed algebra as a novel mathematical discipline. (441) The Arab scholars
were influenced by the Indians with their numerical notations, and with that foundation, they built a
new type of math. This affected the religion of Islam because since Algebra was popular, many would
incorporate it into their own understandings of it, and some merchants were probably welcomed into
the empire for Algebra, and later on converted to Islam. Out of all the

Social Class Reflection Paper
Before this class I always viewed sport as a sanctuary for everyone regardless of their race, social
class, and gender as something they can do together. That once everyone was on the field or at the
game, we were all the same. I believed that it was an activity that did not have a political influence
and it was purely for entertainment. While I still believe some of that is true, this class has challenged
my view point by forcing me to view sports through a different lens. As students, we tend to look at
everyday activities through our personal experiences and assume that everyone else around us is
experiencing them the same way. We tend to overlook the truth because we are uncomfortable
admitting that things such as discrimination, and sexism still happen in today s world.
More specifically, I was challenged to look at my life experiences in three different categories. These
categories include the effect of neoliberalism on today s society, my social class, and my race.
Through these three categories, I was able to pull out the differences between my own life and the
lives of others. By viewing the same experience through another person s eyes, I noticed the extreme
differences that they are going through because of the influence from society.
In the following paper, I will mention how the effect of neoliberalism has influenced the way myself
and others view and experience a sporting experience, how my social class standing has structured
what sports I had access to and

History Of Wu Zetian
Empress Wu ZeTian: Ancient China s Greatest Ruler
The Tang dynasty, in ancient China, was one of prosperity, growth and was the start of evolution in
ancient China. The ruler during that time was Wu ZeTian, the first and only female empress. She was
an intelligent leader who created many concepts and rules that led ancient China to growth and
prosperity. It was difficult for her to maintain her position but she did and brought affluence to the
country. She established a fair government system and devoted herself in preserving literature and
history. She established a powerful army and put her efforts in creating laws that allowed women to be
treated as equals to men. Empress Wu ZeTian was important to the advancement of China because she
constructed a strong education and government system which created a stable country, expanded
China s borders giving the country security and created more opportunities for women.
Firstly, Wu ZeTian believed education and a well organized government system was the key to
successful development of a country. She, personally interviewed candidates. This became the sole
means by which officials could be recruited. These formalities guaranteed appointments could no

Paul Cezanne Research Paper
An artist can draw inspiration from any source, including other artist. Paul Cezanne is an artist that
inspired other artist by his emotions of the world. Susan Stamberg (2009) reports for NPR that Pablo
Picasso considered Cezanne the father of us all . Stamberg goes on to explain how Cezanne infused
his work with layers of shape and color. Before Cezanne s work The Large Bathers, he created other
works with the same impressionist type figures. Cezanne s work Bathers and Fisherman with a Line
(1872) displays the same nude forms with colors similar to The Large Bathers (1906).
Paulcezanne.org ( Paul Cezanne: 100 Famous Paintings Analysis, Complete Artworks Bio, n.d.) gives
the biography of Cezanne as having lived from 1839 to 1906 and studied art in Paris with
impressionist such as Monet and Pissarro. It is believed that The Large Bathers was Cezanne s last
work before his death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The human figures in Cezanne s work were simple figures with a lack of details other than form that
are clustered together in the forms of a pyramid and void of motion. There is also framing with the
trees to center the subjects in the picture. Similar framing can be seen in Matisse s Joy of Life with the
image of trees depicting a frame in the work. The characters are similar to Cezanne in that they lack
definition and movement and appear as statues. Stamberg (2009) reports that Matisse actually bought
The Large Bathers and later donated it to the city of Paris. The statuesque look is further portrayed in
Pablo Picassos work Les Demoiselles d Avignon. Marilyn Stokstad (2005) describes Matisse and
Picasso not only being friends but rivals as well. With Matisse being heavily influenced by Cezanne
Picasso created Les Demoiselles d Avignon as a competed against Matisse s Joy of

Latin American Evil Eye Beliefs
The belief in the evil eye is the most prevalent superstition among different cultures. It is believed to
be caused by jealousy or envy. In KSA, for example, the evil eye belief is tied to the fear of envy and
jealousy in the eye of the beholder. Aref Abu Rabia says, [evil eye] is said to be conveyed by a strange
gaze, or by admiration without a blessing (241). Likewise, the Latin American population, including
Ecuador, evil eye continues to be widely recognized. In her article, Variation And Persistence In Latin
American Beliefs About Evil Eye, Susan Weller states that, [Latin Americans] believe mal de ojo is
caused by the glances or power of stronger persons acting on a weaker person, particularly a child
(Weller 175). Thus, a person s envious gaze or look carries with it a great deal of power, which can be
harmful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He summarizes these consistencies: [The evil eye] is based upon the idea that an individual, male or
female, has the power, voluntarily or involuntarily, to cause harm to another individual or his or her
property merely by looking at or praising that person or property. The harm may consist of illness, or
even death or destruction. Typically, the victim s good fortune, good health, or good looks or
unguarded comments about them invite or provoke an attack by someone with the evil eye. If the
object attacked is animate, it may fall ill. Inanimate objects such as buildings or rocks may crack or
burst. (Dundes 258) Dundes examines cases of the evil eye across cultures and concludes that they
largely share the same characteristics that the evil caused by the gaze of someone possessed of the evil

Congestion
Using the data and your economic knowledge, assess which is the best policy that the UK government
could adopt to reduce congestion on the roads (25 marks)
Market failure is where there is a misallocation of resources in the economy, either completely failing
to provide a good or service or providing the wrong quantity. A negative externality, which is the same
as an external cost, occurs when the consumption or production of a good causes costs to a third party,
where the social cost is greater than the private cost.
There are a several reasons why roads have become increasingly congested, including the following:
The real cost of driving has fallen because motor cars, and even petrol, are relatively cheaper than they

A reduction in quantity will therefore will reduce congestion as there will therefore be less cars on the
road.
Thirdly, the government could adopt a road pricing system by charging for the use of road space. Road
pricing has been used in Singapore, where electronic detectors are placed on bridges and drivers are
charged for access to the road space, that is, access to the road network.
One problem with schemes to alter people s behaviour to achieve desired outcomes is that the reverse
can happen, and people behave perversely. For example: speed cameras positioned at regular intervals
on roads may encourage drivers to speed up between cameras, speed bumps on roads may encourage
people to take longer trips to avoid them, hence increasing congestion and pollution, as the costs of
driving in London have increased, the illegal dumping of cars has also

Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Essay
Bipolar Disorder or manic depressive disorder is a disorder characterized by highs, manias, and lows,
depressions, and can therefore be easily distinguished from unipolar depression, a major depressive
disorder in DSM 5, by the presence of manic or hypomanic episodes (Miklowitz Gitlin, 2014). Bipolar
disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course (American Psychiatric
Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder; bipolar I disorder and bipolar II
disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at least one depressive episode, the
diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are primarily depressed but there has been
at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is more euphoric than normal but not quite
manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009). A manic episode is characterized by an
abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and elevated or irritable with increased energy, along
with signs and symptoms such as inflated self esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep.
Pressure of speech or being extremely talkative, racing thoughts or flight of ideas, distractibility, an
increase in goal directed behavior, agitation, poor judgment and impulsive decision making are more
signs and symptoms of a manic episode. A manic episode can result in unwise and potentially
dangerous behavior. Destructive behaviors can often occur with spending money, sexual

Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia Convention Summary
In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention , he states , I have but one lamp by which my
feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience (Henry 3). Henry gave this speech on March 23,
1775 at Richmond, Virginia. He recognized that the relationship between the 13 colonies and Great
Britain was turning sour. Henry has previous experiences with Britain have lead him to believing that
a war is the best decision. Patrick Henry stood before the colonists of Virginia, and gave them a
compelling speech of why their relations with England has to change. Patrick Henry gave a homely
called Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he utilized persuasive tone and allusion to relay
his views of Great Britain to the colonists of Virginia.
Henry s persuasive tone advises his fellow colonists to rebel against England in order to gain their
freedom. In the opening of his speech, he claims, No man thinks more highly than I do of the
patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House
(Henry 1). Henry treats his fellow congressmen with respect in order to gain credibility and trust, in
order to be more persuasive to the audience. Patrick Henry s approach is peaceful, as he is avoiding
aggressiveness. Which, gains the trust and respect of his peers. This persuades the colonists to take
Henry seriously, because and gives them the sense that he is not belittling them. He makes a point of
this by saying, As well as

William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis
In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William Berkeley.
Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices, aristocratic
leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent. Nathanial
Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part of the
administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012). It was at
this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force.
Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring negotiations.
In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial Bacon emerged
as a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by Native Americans.
It was evident that Nathanial Bacon was fighting the colonial government by urging poor farmers to
express dissent by fighting the Native Americans and colonial government (Rice, 2012).
Consequently, the victims of the 1676 rebellion included the Pamunkey and the Occoneechee tribes.

However, William Berkeley was focused on establishing peace with the Native Indians. The rebellion
grew whereby African Americans joined the frontiersmen demanding better treatment from the
colonial government. The colonial government soldiers became vigilant by suppressing Bacon s
forces; hence, restoring the colonial rule in the Virginian colony. The unification of poor farmers and
African Americans was seen as a potential threat to the colonial government. As a result, the colonial
government implemented measures to toughen racial labor for purposes of preventing any further

I No Longer Recommend Psychiatric Medication
I no longer recommend psychiatric medications to anyone. I believe the science behind this is
seriously flawed. It is based on false assumptions that lead to self perpetuating mythology (and huge
profits for drug companies). (Smith). While it may sound appealing to simply take a pill for each of
your problems, it has almost become common knowledge that medications which directly affect the
brain, especially in the long term, can have many direct and indirect consequences. Nearly ¼ of all

psychiatric medication. The three most popular antipsychotics alone are a $15 billion industry, with

practical psychiatry Is a Maudsley Discussion paper, a series of short papers that deal with
controversial issues in mental health. This discussion paper is written by Joanna Moncrieff, a British
psychiatrist and part of the Critical Psychiatry Network. She primarily analyzes the influence of the
pharmaceutical industry in the psychiatric field. Even though the paper is over ten years old, it
provides insight into what is still most likely happening. She argues that because the industry is
heavily involved in funding psychiatric research, that psychiatric practices could be directed by a
profit focused agenda (Moncrieff). She suggests that excessive advertising and research findings are
likely produced to benefit this agenda, and likely causes the fabrication of specific disorders to create
markets for new medications. It can be assumed that such an operation is capable of produce some
widely dangerous outcomes, even if it is a small percent of the

Achieving Motivation At The Workplace
Question:
1. What is the best way to achieve motivation at work? Explain your answer with reference to relevant
literature and examples.
Problem Statement:
Achieving motivation at the workplace is extremely important as the desire for workers to perform
more efficiently and higher in terms of quality can directly influence the overall performance of a
company (Ridgeway, 1982). Thus, discovering the best way to achieve motivation at work is a very
necessary topic to be discussed. However, the definition of the best may vary from person to person.
The best way to achieve motivation in this essay is defined as achieving work efficiency as high as
possible while maintaining the high morale of employees.
Argument Outline:
· There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theory is the first management theory and it s 100 years old (Stoner, Edward, Gilbert, 2003) but
some of its principles are still effective. Although It treats workers as machines and pre program them
to do their respective jobs and rewards workers for good and excellent working results and punish
them if they fail to make the standard, it introduced piece rates to raise the employees initiative and
therefore enhance the productivity.
· Evidence: Though being old, practice like piece rate introduced by Taylorism never ages, especially
for labor intensive industries, and even some rather new and fancy industries. For example, according
to the Guardian, 2016, UberEats drivers and riders can earn £3.30 per delivery, plus a £4 promotion
amount per job between 11.30am and 2.30pm, or a £3 promotion between 6.30pm and 9.30pm, as well
as the mileage payment. Piece rate well stimulates the motivation of workers to do more, do better.
Working as a part time translator for a media, my job was to translate English articles or videos into
another language, and I got generously paid on piece rate. If the articles or videos attracted more
readers attention than expected, I could get a bonus pay which may be higher than or at least equal to
the normal pay I got from the translation work, so I was quite hard working and really dedicated a
huge amount of time to the work.
· Theory: Human Relations Theory argues that employees are not machines and

Melba Beals Warriors Don T Cry
I am reading Warriors Don t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals. I have read pages 107 150 these weeks. The
prompt I have chosen this week is How characters react to changes that are happening. Three claims
supporting this prompt are how Melba is scared, worried, and brave when reacting to her
surroundings. One way Melba reacts to her surroundings is how she is scared. Melba has gone through
practically terrorism while attending Central High School and has only eight friends, whom she can
barely stay in contact to, and a very small amount of military guards. It has been stated multiple times
throughout the book of how horrified she is at her school. From being choked to being trapped in a
flaming bathroom, she has been put in multiple near death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Melba walks into Central High School, she is walking into a possible murder scene and she is
perfectly conscious of this. It takes serious bravery to still attend a school in a time of racism, and you
have minimal friends and allies. She has been choked, burned, kicked, punched, had acid splashed in
her face, and too many insults to count. Melba has to do this five days a week, and can t do anything
to stop this, but instead just do whatever she can to stay alive and defend herself. If that doesn t take
courage and persistence, and most importantly, bravery, I don t know what does. Quotes to support
this are on page 117: It will take a lot more patience and more strength from me, but it s going to
work. It takes more time than I thought. But we re going to have integration in Little Rock. and on
page 118: I wanted to turn and run away, but I thought about what Danny had said: Warriors survive.
This shows that Melba is often exhausted with all the things she has to focus on, and it really does
require a lot of willpower to continue going to the school where she is hurt continuously. If you were
to ask people today if they could stand what Melba was going through, the answer would most likely
be no. She handled a lot of situations well as she developed through the book and displayed that she
could be fearless at certain points.
In conclusion, Melba reacts to her surroundings by being scared, worried, and brave. Melba, in my
opinion, is the most influential member of the Little Rock Nine because of her constant strength
against the segregationists and being able to withstand racism every day. It is important that she reacts
because it often positively affects the movement to integrate more black students into Central High

The state of Mississippi is home to around three million people. It is known as the Magnolia State
throughout the United States. Many times, when people think of Mississippi, they look down on this
state because it has a negative image in the past. It is true that a part of Mississippi s history is filled

Mississippi was smack in the middle of the Civil War fighting for the confederate cause. Some of that
heritage still lingers heavily today because the confederate flag still files at the state capital to this very
day. This symbol of a failed attempt to permanently tear the country apart has been in the media a lot
these days because of the recent shooting in South Carolina where a 21 year old white man killed nine
people in a landmark historically black church. The gunman was represented by the confederate flag
along with a couple of other flags that stood for white supremacy. The issue of whether or not to get
rid of the flag is an issue that comes up from time to time in Mississippi, but lawmakers do not seem
to want to get rid of it once and for all to end to controversy. The University of Mississippi also used
the rebel flag as their symbol for a long time, but they finally realized a few years ago that it was too
offensive to many of its students and supporters, so they banned it from all sporting events at the

However, even though that both groups are almost the same size, the Baby Boomers, have a much higher voter turnout than Millennials (students). Strategic implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to accomplish strategic objectives and goals. It should be considered the blueprint for realizing the organization s vision. The success of any strategy is solely dependent upon the effectiveness of its implementation and execution. Ram Charan s New York Times bestseller, Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done, refers to implementation and execution of strategy as a systematic way of exposing reality and acting on it. The framework for successful implementation includes building an organization capable of executing strategy, proper resource allocation, support policies, continuous improvement, performance based incentives, and strategic leadership. KaBloom founder, David Hartstein, provided a sound strategy to realize his vision, however flaws in various elements of implementation led to continued problems for KaBloom. • 9. Hildegard Von Bingen Vision In the 2009 film, Vision: The Life of Hildegard von Bingen, the writer/director Margarethe von Trotta puts focus on Hildegard s journey to serve the Lord as best she can, in a time where the church is run by powerful men, and where the Roman Catholic Church is focused on centralizing the church and government though the first crusades. Hildegard (Barbara Sukowa) changes the history of the church by transcribing her visions into text and by breaking away from her cloister to start her own monasteries. As a visionary, she sees God through a different lens and thinks of him not to be feared, but to be celebrated. She believes his gifts will heal and guide, so long as one s heart is pure and humble. Margarethe von Trotta does a great job of showing the audience that Hildegard s view of God is not the same as the masses, some of which viewed God as a punisher that should be feared. As the film opened, the audience was exposed to the apocalyptic thinking of members of the church. The first scene of the movie shows a gathering of people in a place of worship, waiting out the end of the world. This congregation is surprised to wake up to another day. This was a common theme in earlier Christianity, and a view that later in the movie, we realize Hildegard von Bingen didn t share. A similar scene in terms of how one viewed God, was that of self flagellation early on in the movie. With the self harming of one s body for sacrifice to God, to suffer as Jesus did, it gives the ... • 10. Quebec Sovereigntists Swot Analysis This essay looks to discuss Quebec sovereigntists and federalists, and how they differ in their understandings of Canada and Quebec. To accomplish this, the paper looks at three points of contention; how to understand history, the nature of the Quebec state, and recognition of Quebec. The three points of contention show where the two view diverge and why, but the paper views these points as merely pieces of the puzzle. As such only after looking at all three points does the paper reach a conclusion about the real differences between the two views. The paper concludes that sovereigntists view Quebec as distinct enfranchised nation within the confines of Canada, and while viewing Canada as a subjugator and an enemy to Quebec. In comparison, ... The federalists may agree that Canada undermined Quebec in the past, but this does not lead them to make any decisions about the country as whole like the sovereigntists. But this does mean that both agree about the nature of Quebec`s history. Secondly, both want to move on from this history. But this is where differences arise. Federalists hold that to move on from the past, Quebec must simply forget about it and instead value progress. But to the sovereigntists it s not so simple. They view history as creating a path for Quebec`s future, a path of subjugation by Canada. As such, the sovereigntists search for a critical juncture to create a new path. They conclude is sovereignty as it naturally follows from the history of Quebec. This in turn brings us to the final comparison, the justification for sovereignty. Sovereigntists see sovereignty as following naturally from the history of Quebec, and furthermore being justified by the nature of the history. Federalists however do not. This is presumably due to the fact that they do not see history as creating a path, and as such see the future as open and free. Thus the history of Quebec causes sovereigntists to have a negative view of Canada, create a path for Quebec, and justifying sovereignty, while federalists see the past as not ... The Impacts Of The Holocaust And The Holocaust The Holocaust, a genocide which lasted from 1942 to 1945 in which around 6 million European Jewish people were killed, was the result of the Ideals of the the past chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler. Hitler came into power by capitalising on world wide events such as the great depression in 1929 resulting from the Wall Street crash. He began spreading his ideals of anti semitism to the German population in preparation for the Final Solution , which became known as the Holocaust with the assistance of propaganda, violence, and an economic boycott. Most of the impacts resulting from his methods proved to be extremely valuable to the success of the preparation as they efficiently and effectively brainwashed a hateful image of the Jewish population into the minds of the German people and aligned them with Hitler s ideals of anti Semitism. However, some of his methods did were not valuable to preparing the German people as they were not able to depict a hateful image of the Jews. Propaganda was arguably one of the most effective ways for ideas to be spread around rapidly, In his autobiography, Mien Kampf, Hitler states: Propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole people..... • 14. Ursus In The Man Who Laughs By Victor Hugo H The Man Who Laughs is a timeless novel centered around the horrific deeds of the Comprachicos during the 17th century. Written while in exile, Victor Hugo s work calls attention to the social injustices of the working class of the time and the opposing sides of human nature that still hold true today. The radically different sides of human nature exhibited in this novel compare moral goodness and inclinations towards evil found in humanity. Hugo begins his piece with preliminary chapters explaining key elements, people, and history involved in the plot of the novel. Ursus is the first character mentioned and is by far the most bewildering and frustrating character of the novel. The preliminary chapter describes Ursus as a literary genius, an eccentric ventriloquist, a doctor and drug dealer, and a person who delights in hypocrites. Hugo hints at Ursus being a witch or devil worshipper despite his unbelief. He seems a rather unpleasant and misled fellow, genius though he be. His sour countenance and angry mutterings to Gwynplaine and Dea in the first chapter, however, hid true concern and human empathy. Having already formed a negative opinion of Ursus, this compassion was a stark contrast to the frustrating and hardened man described in the preliminary chapter. I had formed a strong opinion against Ursus, and this revelation caused me to realize that my subconscious and preconceived notions of his evil nature were flawed. Micky Mouse was one of the characters that got to escort some of the first visitors into the magic Kingdom. Numerous people including celebrities took part in the celebrations (History). Disney World has the incredible ability to turn every vacation into a once in a life time experience (Don). The attention in detail that Walt put into the park makes it seem almost magical to many. This helped the Islamic empire because it expanded their knowledge and helped them understand the material from other empires as well. This affected Islam because with understanding of the texts, they would incorporate it into the faith to meet the standards of Sharia. Going more in depth, the Arabs in the Islamic empire developed Algebra, which is used today. Using Indian numerical notation, for example, Arab scholars developed algebra as a novel mathematical discipline. That once everyone was on the field or at the game, we were all the same. I believed that it was an activity that did not have a political influence and it was purely for entertainment. While I still believe some of that is true, this class has challenged my view point by forcing me to view sports through a different lens. As students, we tend to look at everyday activities through our personal experiences and assume that everyone else around us is experiencing them the same way. We tend to overlook the truth because we are uncomfortable admitting that things such as discrimination, and sexism still happen in today s world. More specifically, I was challenged to look at my life experiences in three different categories. • 28. Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Essay Bipolar Disorder or manic depressive disorder is a disorder characterized by highs, manias, and lows, depressions, and can therefore be easily distinguished from unipolar depression, a major depressive disorder in DSM 5, by the presence of manic or hypomanic episodes (Miklowitz Gitlin, 2014). Bipolar disorder is generally an episodic, lifelong illness with a variable course (American Psychiatric Association, 2010). There are two classifications of bipolar disorder; bipolar I disorder and bipolar II disorder. If the episodes are primarily manic but there has been at least one depressive episode, the diagnosis is bipolar I disorder (Early, 2009). If the episodes are primarily depressed but there has been at least one episode of hypomania, increased mood that is more euphoric than normal but not quite manic, the diagnosis is bipolar II disorder (Early, 2009). A manic episode is characterized by an abnormality of mood that is euphoric, expansive, and elevated or irritable with increased energy, along with signs and symptoms such as inflated self esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep. • 30. William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William Berkeley. Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices, aristocratic leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent. Nathanial Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part of the administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012). It was at this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force. Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring negotiations. In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial Bacon emerged as a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by Native Americans. It was evident that Nathanial Bacon was fighting the colonial government by urging poor farmers to express dissent by fighting the Native Americans and colonial government (Rice, 2012). Consequently, the victims of the 1676 rebellion included the Pamunkey and the Occoneechee tribes. Following the discovery that Bacon was anti government, he was removed from his ... It is based on false assumptions that lead to self perpetuating mythology (and huge profits for drug companies). (Smith). While it may sound appealing to simply take a pill for each of your problems, it has almost become common knowledge that medications which directly affect the brain, especially in the long term, can have many direct and indirect consequences. It can be argued that today, advertising for psychiatric medication has gotten out of hand, pushing out newer drugs that appeal to every little problem people seem to complain about these days. Is psychiatry for sale?: An examination of the influence of the pharmaceutical industry on academic and practical psychiatry Is a Maudsley Discussion paper, a series of short papers that deal with controversial issues in mental health. This discussion paper is written by Joanna Moncrieff, a British psychiatrist and part of the Critical Psychiatry Network. She primarily analyzes the influence of the pharmaceutical industry in the psychiatric field. Even though the paper is over ten years old, it provides insight into what is still most likely happening. She argues that because the industry is heavily involved in funding psychiatric research, that psychiatric practices could be directed by a profit focused agenda (Moncrieff). She suggests that excessive advertising and research findings are likely produced to benefit this agenda, and likely causes the fabrication of specific disorders to create markets for new medications. Although It treats workers as machines and pre program them to do their respective jobs and rewards workers for good and excellent working results and punish them if they fail to make the standard, it introduced piece rates to raise the employees initiative and therefore enhance the productivity. · Evidence: Though being old, practice like piece rate introduced by Taylorism never ages, especially for labor intensive industries, and even some rather new and fancy industries. For example, according to the Guardian, 2016, UberEats drivers and riders can earn £3.30 per delivery, plus a £4 promotion amount per job between 11.30am and 2.30pm, or a £3 promotion between 6.30pm and 9.30pm, as well as the mileage payment. Piece rate well stimulates the motivation of workers to do more, do better. Working as a part time translator for a media, my job was to translate English articles or videos into another language, and I got generously paid on piece rate. If the articles or videos attracted more readers attention than expected, I could get a bonus pay which may be higher than or at least equal to the normal pay I got from the translation work, so I was quite hard working and really dedicated a huge amount of time to the work. · Theory: Human Relations Theory argues that employees are not machines and ... The prompt I have chosen this week is How characters react to changes that are happening. Three claims supporting this prompt are how Melba is scared, worried, and brave when reacting to her surroundings. One way Melba reacts to her surroundings is how she is scared. Melba has gone through practically terrorism while attending Central High School and has only eight friends, whom she can barely stay in contact to, and a very small amount of military guards. It has been stated multiple times throughout the book of how horrified she is at her school. From being choked to being trapped in a flaming bathroom, she has been put in multiple near death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Melba walks into Central High School, she is walking into a possible murder scene and she is perfectly conscious of this. It takes serious bravery to still attend a school in a time of racism, and you have minimal friends and allies. She has been choked, burned, kicked, punched, had acid splashed in her face, and too many insults to count. Melba has to do this five days a week, and can t do anything to stop this, but instead just do whatever she can to stay alive and defend herself. If that doesn t take courage and persistence, and most importantly, bravery, I don t know what does. Quotes to support this are on page 117: It will take a lot more patience and more strength from me, but it s going to work. It takes more time than I thought. But we re going to have integration in Little Rock. and on page 118: I wanted to turn and run away, but I thought about what Danny had said: Warriors survive. This shows that Melba is often exhausted with all the things she has to focus on, and it really does require a lot of willpower to continue going to the school where she is hurt continuously. If you were to ask people today if they could stand what Melba was going through, the answer would most likely be no. She handled a lot of situations well as she developed through the book and displayed that she could be fearless at certain points. In conclusion, Melba reacts to her surroundings by being scared, worried, and brave. Melba, in my opinion, is the most influential member of the Little Rock Nine because of her constant strength against the segregationists and being able to withstand racism every day. It is important that she reacts because it often positively affects the movement to integrate more black students into Central High ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of that heritage still lingers heavily today because the confederate flag still files at the state capital to this very day. This symbol of a failed attempt to permanently tear the country apart has been in the media a lot these days because of the recent shooting in South Carolina where a 21 year old white man killed nine people in a landmark historically black church. The gunman was represented by the confederate flag along with a couple of other flags that stood for white supremacy. The issue of whether or not to get rid of the flag is an issue that comes up from time to time in Mississippi, but lawmakers do not seem to want to get rid of it once and for all to end to controversy. The University of Mississippi also used the rebel flag as their symbol for a long time, but they finally realized a few years ago that it was too offensive to many of its students and supporters, so they banned it from all sporting events at the college.
