The Importance of Nat Turner Essay
The Importance of Nat Turner
What was the importance of Nat Turner and where does he stand in American history? Nat Turner is
an American slave, who has been forgotten about in history as well in the hearts of African Americans.
He led and organized one of the bloodiest slave rebellions in American history. This rebellion was
#8230;the rebellion that served to change the course of American history in the three decades before
the Civil War (Goldman 10). Within this paper, it is to analyze on his impact on the nation. Nat Turner
was a slave son, who was born on October 2, 1800 in Southampton County, Virginia, to Benjamin
Turner. When Nat was born, Bisson pointed out according to legend, his mother was so determined

With this #8230;the pain and reality of slavery was a shock that was to have profound influence on his
life (Goldman 18). In 1821, Nat had decided to run away from his master and to live as a fugitive.
While on the run, he met his future wife, Cherry, who was also a slave that was working on the Turner
s farm. As time went by, after 30 days has passed Nat had returned to the plantation on his own
freewill. Because of his return Nat said, the reason of my return was, that the Spirit appeared to me
and said I had wishes directed to the things of this world, and not to the Kingdom of Heaven, and that
I should return to the service of my earthly master (Goldman 60). With his return, Nat went
unpunished and was returned to his daily work. In 1822, a tragedy bestowed upon the Turner s family.
Nat master, Samuel Turner, had died and with this it had resulted in separating up his family. With the
separation, Nat s mother was told to stay with Samuel Turner s daughter on the Turner s farm, while
Nat was sold to one farmer and his wife was sold to another (Bisson 28, 29). In this Nat was also
lucky, because his owner, Thomas Moore, was a neighbor of Giles Resse, who had became the owner
of his wife and children (Bisson 39). While he was working for his new owner, Thomas Moore, he
was also busy planning for his liberation. From 1825 1830, Turner served as a preacher because it

Normative Sports
Normative ethics functions well in the sporting environment because it can help settle more disputes
when the values of the participants coach, players, and parents enter into a conflict. While many
sporting organizations are practical withy policies, actions, produces, and strategies in place they
cannot cover every actions. Thus by applying the normative ethics written and unwritten codes of
conduct can be put in place. Normative ethics is used only as a guideline to propose, identify and great

Computer Technology And Computing Technology
Abstract Computation intensive mobile applications are more in demand with the evolution in
computer technology, while the computation capacities of mobile devices are limited. Computation
offloading is a challenging method that sends heavy computation task to the resourceful computers
and obtains results from them, provided computation offloading decision should balance system s
benefits and costs. This paper presents the survey of various such computation offloading decisions
algorithms highlighting their objectives and features, followed with their comparative analysis based
on parameters i.e. energy efficiency, performance, time complexity, overheads, application support
and their future scope. keywords Computation offloading;offloading decisions;mobile cloud
computing. I. INTRODUCTION Evolution in computing technology have expanded the usage of
computers from desktops and mainframes to a wide range of mobile and embedded applications
including surveillance, environment sensing, GPS navigation, mobile phones, autonomous robots etc.
Many of these applications run on limited resources i.e. power constrained mobile phones. Mobile
Cloud Computing (MCC) provides a powerful way to perform such computation intensive task, called
Computation Offloading . Computation offloading is a mechanism where resource intensive
computations are migrated to resource rich cloud or server or nearby infrastructure [8].It is different
from the migration model used in microprocessor

The Evolution Of Human Animals
Humans, formally known as Homo sapiens, are some of the most fascinating creatures to inhabit this
planet. We as human animals possess many traits unique to our species, but one of the most
remarkable traits is our upright posture and inherent inclination to walk on two legs. We share this rare
trait with few organisms, who even so only express limited bipedal behaviors. Human ancestors first
initiated the transition to bipedalism approximately 6 million years ago through the upright steps of
the Sahelanthropus. However, Homo erectus was the first human ancestor to express full bipedality,
which occurred only 1.9 million years ago. Some of the preceding forms of locomotion used by
human ancestors included quadrupedalism or pronograde posture, suspensory locomotion, and
knuckle walking (Watson, 2008). These forms of motion were used not only by human ancestors such
as the Australopithecus afarensis, but can also be observed in modern times in some of our close
relatives, apes and chimpanzees. This transition to bipedalism was facilitated by structural changes
comprised of an angled thigh bone, a more sturdy and broad pelvis, a wider patella, an S shaped spine,
and long femurs. The compilation of all of these adaptations allowed hominids to not only support
their entire body weight while standing upright, but efficiently take long strides, therefore allowing
them to travel greater distances. Though much is known about the implications for the transition to
bipedality, the

Essay about 1991 Apush Dbq
1991 DBQ In the aftermath of World War I, during the years 1917 1921, President Wilson advocated
the Treaty of Versailles, which called for the principle of self determination, the formation of a League
of Nations, and general amnesty towards Germany, as the solution for peace. However, his
unwillingness to compromise led to widespread disagreement. The opposition forces in the U.S.
senate consisted of the reservationists, who were willing to ratify the Treaty of Versailles with
amendments, and the irreconcilables, who refused to join the League of Nations under any
circumstances. If President Wilson was only willing to modify the language of the treaty, ratification
may have occurred. President Wilson s unwillingness to compromise ... Show more content on

H). These views all show the tremendous possibility the Treaty of Versailles had for ratification if only
President Wilson agreed to compromise. Finally, the irreconcilables were completely closed to the
possibility of a League of Nations, as seen in William Borah s speech in 1918, which harshly criticizes
and mocks the league with hypocritical antitheses like force to destroy force, conflict to prevent
conflict, militarism to destroy militarism, war to prevent war (Doc. A). The irreconcilable s point of
view is also illustrated by an image from the Tribune Media Services, which shows the U.S. Senate
suddenly objecting to the marriage of the U.S. to foreign entanglement by the League of Nations on
the basis of constitutional rights (Doc. E). According to the senate, the U.S. would be losing the right
to go to war along with collective security if they joined the League of Nations. The position of
European nations, specifically France and Britain, was of hostility towards Germany for the mass
casualties, causing an unwillingness to pardon them from the guilt clause. The Treaty of Versailles had
a great chance of being ratified if only President Wilson would have been able to make small
amendments. The reservationists had a strong argument about the pros of a League of Nations, but
they disagreed with Article 10, which gave the League s

Comparison Of Stonehenge And Paganism
Stonehenge and Paganism A lot of scientific interpretations of Stonehenge that are proposed by
archaeologists are often at war , so to speak, with other archaeological interpretations by faith
communities. One of these particular arguments is that Paganism is not considered to be a real
religion, like that of Christianity or the Islamic faith. Paganism is not widely practiced in the United
States like it is over in the UK and other European countries. Stonehenge has been connected in one
way or another to the religion of Paganism.
Building of Stonehenge Stonehenge was built in the Neolithic early Bronze Age era. The human race
did not settle in the area of Wiltshire until around 4,000 BCE 3,000 BCE (Cusack 2012). According to
Fagan, local farmers built a simple enclosure (Cusack 2012). There are five stones, which consist of
the Heel Stone that is located outside of the north eastern entrance. The Slaughter Stone, which lies
flat on the east side of the entranceway, is considered to be part of a pair that could have created an
entrance. The final two Station Stones are located in the bank (Cusack 2012). Over the few hundred
years, more timber monuments were built, possibly to assist in the purpose of Stonehenge. Many
archaeologists have disputed over the phases of not only the construction of Stonehenge but also the
chronology of Stonehenge as well as the possibilities of what it was used for (Cusack 2012). Some
people have thought of Stonehenge as being some kind of

Dbq on the Usefulness of Torture
The War on Terror has produced several different viewpoints on the utilization of torture and its
effectiveness as a means to elicit information. A main argument has been supplied that torture is
ineffective in its purpose to gather information from the victim. The usefulness of torture has been
questioned because prisoners might use false information to elude their torturers, which has occurred
in previous cases of torture. It has also been supposed that torture is necessary in order to use the
information to save many lives. Torture has been compared to civil disobedience. In addition, the
argument has been raised that torture is immoral and inhumane. Lastly, Some say that the acts are not
even regarded as torture.

the United States changed its definition of torture to physical pain amounting to torture must be

The Issue Of Affirmative Action
On the contrary, supports of affirmative action feel that this law is still needed in America to help
places of higher education have more diversity which will benefit companies in the long run and it
also helps companies be more diverse and it helps them thrive. In the past few decades the number of
minorities and females in places of higher education and companies have been rising at a slow rate.
During 2012, the health care industry was suffering from lack of medical personal in the medical field;
however, 16% of the U.S. population is Latino and 14% is African American, these groups constituted
only 9% and 7%, respectively, of the total U.S. medical school enrollment in 2012 (Graces, paragraph
2). The rate of minorities enrolled in medical school has been slowly rising over the years. Having
minorities and females in a company helps the company be more diverse while also giving the
company employees that can help the company thrive and be successful. Supporters feel that this law
benefits people who usually would not have a chance of attending a place of higher education or be a
part of a company an equal and fair chance. Supporters of affirmative action feel that it is positive
discrimination and that it benefits places of higher education and companies not discriminate against
females and minorities. A significant, amount of court cases have been brought up to the Supreme
Court dealing with affirmative action. One important court case that deals with affirmative

(Kwek 2011) It is important when conducting a in depth interview to not lead the interviewee but to
probe them for more information. The person conducting the interview must not agree with of
disagree with the interviewee this is vital so the interviewee does not feel induced into to answering a
question in a certain way. The interviewer must use more open questions to gain more in depth
information from the interviewee and then confirm this in depth by using closed questions to ensure
the data being collected is on track.
The open, axial and reflective coding method was used to analyse the data. Open coding is the first
coding method used in analysing the in depth interview data. Open coding helps to make sense of the
process and identify the root of the issue. The interviews were evenly split between married and single
women. Some of the issues for married women in the open coding stage were things such as; * Age
feeling too old * Body image being embarrassed by their body * Housework having to cook and
cleaning the house * Kids transporting and caring for children * Work working long hours and
irregular hours * No motivation finding it hard to feel motivated to exercise * No friends to exercise

My Understanding Of Education Level Peace Building Efforts...
I. Introduction
Listening to four women peacemakers, rather peacebuilders, from different countries, cultures and
contexts has broadened and, at the same time, challenged my understanding of gender dynamics in
conflict context. This reflection essay aims to discuss how these presentations deepened and
complicated my understanding of gender. It will mainly focus on Kurshid s presentations of violent
extremism in Pakistan. However, I will also use part of Fatma s presentation on Western Sahara for the
first part of the discussion below.
II. Gender Issues and Perspectives
During the presentations, I came across with numerous issues and points that enriched my
understanding of gender. For the purposes of this essay, I will limit myself to the discussion of how
the presentations broadened my understanding of gender as social construct; expanded my insight of
violence beyond an armed conflict; provided me insight on grassroots level peace building efforts;
renewed my faith in the value of education; and challenged my prejudices and provided me with fresh
insights and gender perspectives to conflict and peacebuilding.
Gender as a social construct and Conflict a Deconstruction of Gender
Primarily, both Kurshid s and Fatma s presentations strengthened my understanding of gender as a
social construct. Particularly, Fatma s presentation on Western Sahara provided a very god example.

Summary and Analysis of The Friar s Tale Essay
Summary and Analysis of The Friar s Tale (The Canterbury Tales)
Prologue to the Friar s Tale:
The Friar commends the Wife of Bath for her tale, and then says that he will tell a tale about a
summoner. He does not wish to offend the Summoner who travels with them, but insists that
summoners are known for lewd behavior. The Summoner does not take offense, but does indicate that
he will repay the Friar in turn. The job of the Summoner to which the Friar objects is to issue
summons from the church against sinners who, under penalty of excommunication, pay indulgences
for their sins to the church, a sum which the summoner often pockets.

he lives by extortion. The summoner admits the he does the same, and they reveal to each other their

The second phase is dedicated to a step by step improvement. This improvement needs to be done
anyway and during this phase we gain time to educate the people better, so that they could run the Pan
Orient machine and that they have a chance to find new jobs if the new machine arrives. The main
idea of this phase is to convert the production line from a pure batch oriented to a more JIT process.
This would help us to reduce downtime and increase quality, with the longer term objective that the
quality of the batteries increases so much, that we would even be able to eliminate the final electrical
output test. However, this goal is very challenging and we might fail. Therefore we created the third
phase. The third phase, which would come into play approximately one year after starting phase II,
would be dedicated to acquire the Pan Orient machine, or whatever machine would satisfy our need at
that time. With this machine and the improvements we did so far, we would be definitively able to
eliminate the battery testing loop, resulting in a payback of about 2.9 years of this machine.
Furthermore, we could fight the increasing competition more efficiently, which we expect in 1995
when the import taxes drop. We think that we found a good mixture of different approaches to
overcome the under capacity of Joboatão and are well prepared for the future competitions and
demands. Furthermore this approach enables us to

Student Leadership Reflection
Throughout the semester I have learned a lot about my strengths. At first, I had no clue what they
were. I also had no clue that they can help explain why certain people work well in a group together or
why they don t. My strengths have helped me adjust to life as a college student and even helped me to
figure out what I want to do after my college career is over. Events like the Heritage Project, The
Student Leadership book, the networking event, and even the peer mentor presentations gave me a lot
to think about when considering my future. This class has helped me develop my leadership skills and
grow as an Otterbein student by allowing me to better understand myself.
Throughout this semester I have encountered many different situations that I have never experienced
before. I wasn t hesitant about starting college but once I got here I found it a little overwhelming. I
didn t know about many of the resources that are on campus and classes were very different from what
I expected them to be. FYS Goal one, found on the strengths reflection paper guidelines is, To connect
you to the resources that promote belonging, wellness, personal development, and success in the first
year . I feel as though FYS 1025 has helped me meet that goal because I now know about many of the
resources centers here. I learned about them through Jordan s peer mentor moments, whether she was
talking about the Center for Student Success or the CCPD. Jordan s peer mentor moments helped me
locate the different resource around campus and even understand what they were about. Even though I
haven t been to some of them, I was able to help people not in our class find them and know what
those resources are about. This has helped me grow as a student because it increases my familiarity
with campus and allows me to know that if I have a question there are people that can provide me with
information.
The course has developed me as a future leader at Otterbein by helping me understand myself. In the
beginning I didn t know about strengths. Now that I do, I see why they are important when beginning
a new chapter in life. Before starting a project, I now think about how I m going to accomplish my
goals. I use my strategic strength to plan out

Keystone Cruiser
In American, summer may be the season for beer, but beer maker Keystone Light has found itself in
hot market competing against some major brands. With many of the premium brands upselling their
light beers, Keystone has been forced into a position where it must be bold if it wishes to survive. By

far more valuable than the premium beers that they are up against.
The essence of the Cruiser is that they are able to find enjoyment from the small things in life. The
cruiser does not need much and Canhole embodies that. While a premium beer drinker may need more
expensive and more elaborate means of entertainment, the cruiser can find enjoyment by utilizing a

They Say I Say With Reading By Isabel Sawhill Summary
People go through obstacles when they go to college and some do not. Some people believe it is a
waste of money and others believe college guides students in the right direction for the future. In the
book They Say I Say with Readings, Stephanie Owen, Isabel Sawhill, and Sanford J. Ungar explain
why people should or should not go to college.
In the article, Should Everyone Go to College? (2014) Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill discuss
how much money it is to go to college. The average upfront cost of four years of college is $102,000
and private schools have a lifetime earnings premium of over $620,000. They explain that among
young high school graduates and bachelor s degree holders, working full time would be $15,000; 23
25 year olds with a bachelor s degree make $12,000 more than high school graduates. Premiums
associated with a college degree grow over a lifetime. By age 50 the gap has grown to $46,500 and the
total premium for a bachelor s degree is $570,000, and $17,000 for an associate s degree. Financial aid

They proclaim higher education is one of the best investments made, but explain not all college
degrees are equal. For example, someone that works in the field of science, technology, engineering,
and math that have a high school diploma will make more over a lifetime then someone with a
bachelor s degree in education. Another problem they have with college degrees is being able to find a
job. People with degrees in education and health have very low employment rates, and people with
degrees in architecture have high unemployment rates because of the decline in construction due to the
recession. On average a college graduate with a theatre degree makes about $6,000 more than the

Narrative Essay About Snowboarding
Snowboarding
It was a nice day up in vermont the mountain was cold the snow was white like the clouds and just as
fluffy as a persian cats white delicate fur. Then that s when it happened we got up to the mountain my
father my brother and myself when we got to the mountain we were amazed. When we got to the top
of the mountain we saw an amazement of colors and that s when it happened me and my father had a
fight a little while earlier. When we got to the area we put on our ski and snowboarding gear and then
it started we went up the the ski lift and I was still angry at my dad.
When we got to the top I was pleasantly surprised to see my oldest and best friend at the top who was
coming down the mountain with his father. When I saw them I suddenly yelled to them to get their
attention and they came back to where we were and then the whole day turned around. When I saw my
friend Connor and Zeke and connor s father Steve I was so happy I felt like my body was going to
explode because of how happy that I was. I went over to Connor and Zeke and we started to catch up.
When we were talking me and my dad started to feel a little guilty and then after a little while I finally
apologized and then he apologized and then we made up.
One we had made up and resolved the conflicts that we had with each other earlier we were able to
fully hang out and enjoy the trip that we were taking. When we got to the top of the mountain we saw
the most beautiful site that we had ever seen

The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost
Choosing the right path is hard when there is a lot at stake to lose. Sometimes doing what is best for
you may hurt the ones you love. It is sometimes necessary to take a chance and choose the riskier path
to see what is behind the next bend, or corner. The poem, The Road Not Taken describes a person
having a hard time choosing what path to take. Robert Frost elicits the central idea, theme, meaning,
and how the speaker came to his decision by the use of metaphors describing the want for his readers
to think through the hard decisions in life. One decision in life can make you or break you. It is all on
how a person approaches the situation.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, Frost introduces the metaphor of two diverging roads. He is
depicting that it is fall by using the lexicon yellow wood . Fall is symbolic of a time of change.
And sorry I could not travel both Robert Frost is sorry that must make a choice. He using the word
choice sorry shows his uneasiness in making his decision.
And be one traveler, long I stood He is standing alone and having a hard time making a decision on
own. And looked down one as far as I could He tries to see the consequences of one decision.
To where it bent in the undergrowth; There are too many unknowns to know what will happen. Robert
Frost uses the word undergrowth to represent the unknowns blocking his vision.
Then took the other, as just as fair, It seems just as nice to travel.
And having perhaps the

Summary Of The Naked Source By Linda Simon
Every decent argument is backed by evidence. In The Naked Source, Linda Simon argues that students
should learn history by interpreting primary sources. Simon supports her argument that students
should confront primary sources to better learn history by using ethos, logos, structure, and tone.
Simon uses ethos as evidence to support her argument that students should learn history by
interpreting primary sources. The introduction in The Naked Source indicates that Simon earned a
doctorate in English and American literature from Brandeis University and is currently professor of
English at Skidmore College (250). This information establishes her credibility, or ethos, as a current
teacher. It also makes her a reliable source since she is not just some uneducated person advertising
for her own benefit. She is a teacher that drew her conclusions through observing her students in the
classroom. Simon s ethos supports her argument because she is a trustworthy source. Most of Simon s
arguments also apply to logic; they make logical sense. Simon says Students, of course, can never
discover the boundary between fact and imaginative construction unless they have contact with
primary sources (253). Here, Simon uses logos as part of her evidence to explain to her ... Show more

She carries the audience through her argument in a logical sequence. First, she makes her claim that
student do not know history and explains her reasons (250). She then elaborates on what history
students are taught and what exactly is wrong with the methods by which they learn (251). After this,
she explains the job of a historian to the reader how historians confront primary sources to make some
sense of what once happened (252). To end the article, Simon describes how students can better learn
history through exploring primary sources (253). This structuring and organization helps the reader to
understand and to believe Simon s

Major Feminist Criminological Perspectives
With the pass of the time, females are more involve in society. The amount of women s that stay at
home and don t go out for work has been reducing. At the same time, we see that women s have been
involved with some criminal events. Because of this, five major feminist criminological perspectives
have been creating. During this essay, three of this perspective will be exposed and explain. First,
these three perspectives will be mention and contrast from each other. Finally, these three perspectives
will be comparing with each other. First, one of the major feminist criminological perspectives is
Liberal Feminism. This attitude can be described as the first feminist perspective in criminology that
focuses on gender discrimination. Also, the general notion of this ... Show more content on

In other words, if a woman commits a crime should receive the same punishment that men receive
when he commits the same type of crime. At the same time, these liberal females challenged the
prevailing assumption that males and females have a different role in society. Another significant
feminist criminological perspective is Radical Feminism. This aspect deals with the way in which the
capitalist economic system fosters crime through the creation of a patriarchal and sexist society. This
perspective is that women have to stay at home as an unpaid housekeeping, and men have the right to
control women. In other words, women have to follow all the instructions and rules that her husband
establishes at the house. By this perspective, women s can exercise control over their bodies and the
restructuring family relationship in order to eliminate male domination. However, radical feminist
does not believe that women s liberation will increase female crime rates. Another important feminist
criminological perspective is Socialist Feminism. This view identifies the oppression of women as a
symptom of the patriarchal capitalist system. This aspect considered

Nationalism Position Paper
It can be seen that the source that was given supports nationalism to a certain degree. They explain all
of the positive things about embracing nationalism while giving only one small negative point. The
positive points clearly prevail over the negative point which helps show the reader the author s
position on this issue. It can be seen that only self determined countries are legitimate. The
government that runs the nation state, achieves this self determination by gaining and keeping the
support of its citizens. This results in the citizens coming together as a civic nation and having great
pride in their country. If this self determined country is created from ultra nationalistic beliefs it will
lead into a country that believes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the coup d état, a military General was able to get in control of the country. With his
motivational speeches and his recognition from the battles he has won, he was able to gain the trust of
the citizens and the army. From seeing what the Germans were doing the General decided to do the
same and expand Japan. This led to the invasion of China and the start of the Pacific War. It can be
noted that nationalism is not necessarily good; it can lead to major wars and the deaths of many
innocent citizens, furthermore; it can also lead to a total annihilation of a race. It can also be seen
throughout history that genocides were also caused by ultra nationalism. In 1994 a terrible incident
has occurred and that would be the Rwanda genocide. The two groups that were involved in this are
the Tutsi and Hutu group. The Tutsi and Hutu had animosity between them and deeply desired to kill
each other. Their ultra nationalistic views helped accumulate their anger towards each other. This led
to the Hutu s planned assassination on their president. They were able to use this as an excuse in order
to destroy the Tutsis. The Hutus blamed the Tutsis for killing their president and went on a rampage
which conducted the mass killing of the Tutsis. Also another genocide that was created because of
ultra nationalistic views is the Armenian genocide. After the

Zahrah The Windseeker And You CanT Touch My Hair Analysis
Nnedi Okorafor Mbachu and Phoebe Robinson, through their respective books Zahrah the Windseeker
and You Can t Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain, eloquently tackle the ways
their characters recognize and overcome the fear of the unknown through word choice and character
development. In her book, Zahrah the Windseeker, Nnedi Okorafor Mbachu does not waste any time
and explicitly states in the preface that it is a general fear of the unknown that plagues the entire
society of the Ooni Kingdom (Okorafor). Okorafor s use of the word plague utilizes the negative
connotation with this fear and indicates that future characters have to overcome this plague. Referring
to the entire society, Okorafor also includes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the fact being dada is so rare and no one else from her hometown is dada, the townspeople fear
Zahrah because they do not know or understand what it means to be dada and what separates them
from normal people. As a part of the bullying, people call Zahrah names like: Vine head, snake lady,
swamp witch, and freak (Okorafor 3). Despite initially believing the vicious nicknames and allowing
those words to define her, Zahrah overcomes her submission to society s perception of her and
embraces her hair, as well as her other dada qualities. In the end, after completing her quest and saving
her best friend, Zahrah stands before a mirror and studies herself: I look at myself in the mirror, my
dark brown skin, my dada hair... I looked into my own eyes and smiled when I saw the new glint in
them (Okorafor 277). A new glint in her eyes represents a new perspective of herself; a perspective
that is not defined by society s fear of her. For Zahrah, it took going on an incredibly dangerous and
nearly impossible mission in order to accept herself and to shake people s fear of the unknown. She
now has confidence in herself and believes in herself. Similarly, Robinson deals with this same issue
of facing other the fear of the unknown, however she deals with the problem in a more realistic
manner. Phoebe Robinson deals with white people s fear of her natural hair. As mentioned earlier,
Robinson clearly recognizes this fear, and writes in her book, when something

The Beliefs Of Sun Yat-Sen And Yuan Shikai
Mahatma Gandhi said, A nation s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people. Gandhi was
upset with the British ruling India and how they treated thousands of Indians so harshly. Both Sun Yat
sen and Yuan Shikai held political power and had their own idea of running China. Similar to Gandhi,
Sun Yat sen and Yuan Shikai had their own beliefs in how China should be ruled in order to maximize
both its economic and educational wealth. Sun Yat sen was born on November 12, 1866 in Zhongshan.
He was born into a poor family of farmers and had many siblings. In 1879, one of his brothers took
him to Honolulu where he attended schools and encountered western influences for the first time. He
then left for Hong Kong and his parents arranged his marriage to a girl. He then went to Hawaii to
Guangzhou Hospital Medical School, eventually transferring to another medical college in Hong
Kong (Trueman 2015). Sun had an ambitious personality and was upset with the traditional values
China and the Qing Dynasty had. He wrote a letter to Li Hongzhang, a governor general, discussing
his ideas of how to improve China but Li simply responded with improving the agricultural business
(this was not what Sun had envisioned). In 1894, Sun travelled once again to Hawaii and established
the Revive China Society, a secret revolutionary group. Many peasants, artisans, and those of the
lower classes made up this group. Sun came back to Hong Kong in 1895 in order to plot a riot in

Ronald Reagan Commemorative Speech
Second Main Point Description of Speech
a. Brief summary of speech Ronald Reagan s address is a commemorative speech meant to honor the
victims of the Challenger disaster and bring hope to a nation facing tragedy by encouraging the
continuation of space travel. According to our textbook, a commemorative speech is When we speak
to praise, memorialize, or celebrate...a person, event, or idea (Houck, ch. 4). In this speech, Reagan s
main focus is to memorialize the victims of the Challenger disaster, but he also aims to celebrate and
praise their dedication to exploration.
i. During this address to the nation, Ronald Reagan followed chronological order by first comparing
the disaster to other space faring disasters that previously occurred, then discussing Challenger itself,
and finally providing his vision for hope and continuing exploration in the future. ii. Organizing his
speech in this way was very effective to reassure Americans that the nation would rise up from this
tragedy. By first discussing tragedies of the past, saying, Nineteen years ago, almost to the day, we lost
three astronauts in a terrible accident on the ground. But we ve never lost an astronaut in flight. We ve
never had a tragedy like this (Eidenmuller), Reagan acknowledges that the country has overcome
tragedies before, even if they were different. He then discusses the current situation of losing the
Challenger astronauts and the impact of the tragedy as the country mourns. By ending on his

The Connecticut Disaster
On August 20th, 1955, President Dwight Eisenhower declared Connecticut a disaster area, due to
major flooding from both Hurricane Connie on August 11 and Hurricane Diane on the 17th. Sixty
seven towns experienced flooding prompting residents to banned together to save their community
and homes. Considered by many to be the most tragic events in the history of Connecticut, it also
brought the necessary public awareness to the danger of floods and what can cause them. The
devastation caused by Connie and Diane awakened forecasters, politicians, and regional planners. A
week after the now named Hurricane Floods of 1955, the Weather Bureau acknowledged the need to
upgrade their flashflood warning system. Levees and other flood protection measures ... Show more

The low pressure systems do the most damage along the coast line, eroding at the soil beneath the
barriers as well as layers of inland, flattening or carrying anything away in its path. None the less there
are also major differences, such as that fact that Connecticut suffered more inland damage due to the
large rivers running through it, while Europe s coast was the most heavily effected because of the
popular water transportation. The recurance interval for another flood surge in Connecticut that size is
about 80 years and the recurance for the a North Sea is about 1,000 years, thus proving how prone the
United States can be for natural disasters. Both of the governments resorted to military action to
rescue, clean up and attempt to repair damages to defenses along with building new ones. Interestingly
enough Connecticut faced over $185.5 million worth of damages £50million, granted that there is a
currency worth difference, but it just goes to show how natural disasters of the same type can still

History Of The Council Of Nicea
The Council of Nicea was held during the winter of 324 325 (Bingham 46). The main concern of this
council was the relationship between God the Father and God the Son, as well as the essence of the
Son (Bingham 47). It aimed to create a counter argument against the Arians in an attempt to end the
relationship dispute, defend the trinity, and bring unity to the church. This council condemned Arius
and produced an anti Arian creed, the Creed of Nicea , but this council did not end disputes (Lane 29).
The creation of a creed, the Creed of Nicea, did have a significant impact, however. A creed, meaning
I believe in Latin, can be used in many ways including a public statement on first becoming a
Christian, on joining the church, as part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this creed, Jesus Christ the Son was affirmed to be both fully God and fully man (Lane 41) and
united equally with God. During 451, the Council of Chalcedon was held (Bingham 51). Here, the
church leaders
reaffirmed their acceptance of the Nicene Creed as it then existed and made analytical distinctions
regarding the nature of Jesus Christ concerning the human and divine (Kerr 75).
[The] Chalcedonian Creed emphasizes the oneness of Christ s person and the distinction of his full
two natures, divine and human, in unity with each other (Bingham 54).This they referred to as the
Symbol of Chalcedon, and while it did not become popular due to its complexity, it did help describe
limits made in the church. This Chalcedonian definition was brought on by
Arianism, Apollinarianism, Nestorianism, and Eutycheanism (Kerr 75). Combined, these councils
defended against the controversial teachings and beliefs of
Arianism, which denied the full deity of Christ; Apollinarianism, which denied the full humanity of
Christ; Nestorianism, which denied the union of the two natures;

The Goal Of Marketing Strategy
The goal of marketing strategy is to increase sales and reach a competitive advantage. It involves
careful planning and scanning of internal and external environments. Internal factors are such as
performance analysis, market mix, strategic constraints, and market mix modelling. External factors
are such as analyzing the competition, evaluation of technological, economic, cultural, and political or
legal elements, and target analysis. The twelve years that Charles Tandy reinvented RadioShack, he
understood the same criteria. His successors tried to follow his footsteps, but there was a rapid change
in technology. After the war, he identified a new area of supply and started sending mail. Few years
later after it traded on the New York Stock Exchange, it ventured into an electronic firm. He tried to
help it stay afloat by cutting inventories and maintaining merchandise that had high profit margins.
Philosophy 2.6 The Philosophy of the firm was to provide electronic devices and accessories and a
lower price than larger scale businesses the local greater population. The firm also maintained
competitive prices and advertising to attract customers. They increased bonuses based on store
revenue percentage to create competitiveness among their workers in various stores. In addition, the
store started to design their merchandise and only dealt with private label items in order to eliminate
intermediaries. However, with the rapid change of technology RadioShack could not be

Cedphalus Definition Of Justice Essay
The four definitions of justice begin with Cephalus, an old businessman, who believes justice is
related to having money. If a man is rich he gains access to hope, freedom to speak the truth, and the
ability to pay debts. A just man communicates honestly and settles his debts because the possession of
money contributes a great deal to not cheating or lying...and, moreover, to not departing for that other
place frightened because one owes some sacrifices (REP 331b1 4). Socrates counters Cephalus
argument by contending that fulfilling an obligation may be tumultuous for other people, making the
action unjust. Socrates addresses this dilemma with an example of returning a borrowed weapon to a
madman. Although returning it would repay what is owed, it would be wrongful as everyone would
surely say that...when he is mad, one shouldn t give back such things because it could cause harm to
others (REP 331c1 6). The definition of justice, therefore, cannot be ... Show more content on

While this definition is different from that of Cephalus, they both have an underlying component of
giving to each what is appropriate. He modifies his statement, however, when Socrates reasons it is
often hard to discern between true debts and scams. Polemarchus revision supposes that friends owe it
to friends to do some good and nothing bad , while an enemy owes his enemy the very thing which is
also fitting: some harm (REP 332a7 332b7 8). Justice is giving harm enemies and helping friends.
Socrates refutes this explanation by stating that many seem to them to be good although they are not,
and vice versa ( REP 334c6 7). Humans are imperfect beings, so their perception of the intentions of
others might not always be correct. Although one believes they are doing what is just, they may be
doing the exact opposite without realizing

Descriptive Experience Of Fish
Version 2: 5 fish, mean fish, dead fish, no fish!
I opened the black hatch on the lid of the fish tank. Turning open the lid of the plastic container, I
reached inside and took out a pinch of the musty smelling fish food flakes. I sprinkled the flakes over
the water in the fish tank and watched as the 5 fish swam up, gulping up the thin copper, crimson, and
mahogany colored flakes. I watched until the fish swam away, finished with their meal. I then closed
the hatch, put away and closed the jar of fish food, and walked out of my room. Feeding time was
over. Just a couple days ago, I had been at Petsmart with my family.
The fish tanks at Petsmart were all lined up against the walls, illuminated by blue and violet lights.
Each fish tank held fish of all kinds of different shapes, colors, and sizes. My family had bought 5
glimmering fish, a bag of fish care supplies, and when we got home, my mom and dad took the old
fish tank we had in our garage, and much to my delight, set it up in my room, on top of a low
bookcase.
One day, me and my mom both saw something odd in the fish tank.. One of the fish, a huge fish with
silver colored scales, was pecking at some of the smaller fish, causing a couple of their scales to fall
off and drift around in the water. Me and my sister started calling that fish the, mean fish. Later, I
walked in my room to see that the mean fish was now stuck inside a fishbowl! But technically, the
fishbowl was actually inside the fish tank, just a

  • 2. The Importance of Nat Turner Essay The Importance of Nat Turner What was the importance of Nat Turner and where does he stand in American history? Nat Turner is an American slave, who has been forgotten about in history as well in the hearts of African Americans. He led and organized one of the bloodiest slave rebellions in American history. This rebellion was #8230;the rebellion that served to change the course of American history in the three decades before the Civil War (Goldman 10). Within this paper, it is to analyze on his impact on the nation. Nat Turner was a slave son, who was born on October 2, 1800 in Southampton County, Virginia, to Benjamin Turner. With this #8230;the pain and reality of slavery was a shock that was to have profound influence on his life (Goldman 18). In 1821, Nat had decided to run away from his master and to live as a fugitive. While on the run, he met his future wife, Cherry, who was also a slave that was working on the Turner s farm. As time went by, after 30 days has passed Nat had returned to the plantation on his own freewill. Because of his return Nat said, the reason of my return was, that the Spirit appeared to me and said I had wishes directed to the things of this world, and not to the Kingdom of Heaven, and that I should return to the service of my earthly master (Goldman 60). With his return, Nat went unpunished and was returned to his daily work. In 1822, a tragedy bestowed upon the Turner s family. Nat master, Samuel Turner, had died and with this it had resulted in separating up his family. With the separation, Nat s mother was told to stay with Samuel Turner s daughter on the Turner s farm, while Nat was sold to one farmer and his wife was sold to another (Bisson 28, 29). In this Nat was also lucky, because his owner, Thomas Moore, was a neighbor of Giles Resse, who had became the owner of his wife and children (Bisson 39). While he was working for his new owner, Thomas Moore, he was also busy planning for his liberation. From 1825 1830, Turner served as a preacher because it gave him the right to travel ... Computer Technology And Computing Technology Abstract Computation intensive mobile applications are more in demand with the evolution in computer technology, while the computation capacities of mobile devices are limited. Computation offloading is a challenging method that sends heavy computation task to the resourceful computers and obtains results from them, provided computation offloading decision should balance system s benefits and costs. This paper presents the survey of various such computation offloading decisions algorithms highlighting their objectives and features, followed with their comparative analysis based on parameters i.e. energy efficiency, performance, time complexity, overheads, application support and their future scope. keywords Computation offloading;offloading decisions;mobile cloud computing. I. INTRODUCTION Evolution in computing technology have expanded the usage of computers from desktops and mainframes to a wide range of mobile and embedded applications including surveillance, environment sensing, GPS navigation, mobile phones, autonomous robots etc. Many of these applications run on limited resources i.e. power constrained mobile phones. Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) provides a powerful way to perform such computation intensive task, called Computation Offloading . Computation offloading is a mechanism where resource intensive computations are migrated to resource rich cloud or server or nearby infrastructure [8].It is different from the migration model used in microprocessor ... • 5. The Evolution Of Human Animals Humans, formally known as Homo sapiens, are some of the most fascinating creatures to inhabit this planet. We as human animals possess many traits unique to our species, but one of the most remarkable traits is our upright posture and inherent inclination to walk on two legs. We share this rare trait with few organisms, who even so only express limited bipedal behaviors. Human ancestors first initiated the transition to bipedalism approximately 6 million years ago through the upright steps of the Sahelanthropus. However, Homo erectus was the first human ancestor to express full bipedality, which occurred only 1.9 million years ago. Some of the preceding forms of locomotion used by human ancestors included quadrupedalism or pronograde posture, suspensory locomotion, and knuckle walking (Watson, 2008). These forms of motion were used not only by human ancestors such as the Australopithecus afarensis, but can also be observed in modern times in some of our close relatives, apes and chimpanzees. This transition to bipedalism was facilitated by structural changes comprised of an angled thigh bone, a more sturdy and broad pelvis, a wider patella, an S shaped spine, and long femurs. The compilation of all of these adaptations allowed hominids to not only support their entire body weight while standing upright, but efficiently take long strides, therefore allowing them to travel greater distances. Though much is known about the implications for the transition to bipedality, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay about 1991 Apush Dbq 1991 DBQ In the aftermath of World War I, during the years 1917 1921, President Wilson advocated the Treaty of Versailles, which called for the principle of self determination, the formation of a League of Nations, and general amnesty towards Germany, as the solution for peace. However, his unwillingness to compromise led to widespread disagreement. The opposition forces in the U.S. senate consisted of the reservationists, who were willing to ratify the Treaty of Versailles with amendments, and the irreconcilables, who refused to join the League of Nations under any circumstances. If President Wilson was only willing to modify the language of the treaty, ratification may have occurred. President Wilson s unwillingness to compromise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... H). These views all show the tremendous possibility the Treaty of Versailles had for ratification if only President Wilson agreed to compromise. Finally, the irreconcilables were completely closed to the possibility of a League of Nations, as seen in William Borah s speech in 1918, which harshly criticizes and mocks the league with hypocritical antitheses like force to destroy force, conflict to prevent conflict, militarism to destroy militarism, war to prevent war (Doc. A). The irreconcilable s point of view is also illustrated by an image from the Tribune Media Services, which shows the U.S. Senate suddenly objecting to the marriage of the U.S. to foreign entanglement by the League of Nations on the basis of constitutional rights (Doc. E). According to the senate, the U.S. would be losing the right to go to war along with collective security if they joined the League of Nations. The position of European nations, specifically France and Britain, was of hostility towards Germany for the mass casualties, causing an unwillingness to pardon them from the guilt clause. The Treaty of Versailles had a great chance of being ratified if only President Wilson would have been able to make small amendments. The reservationists had a strong argument about the pros of a League of Nations, but they disagreed with Article 10, which gave the League s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparison Of Stonehenge And Paganism Stonehenge and Paganism A lot of scientific interpretations of Stonehenge that are proposed by archaeologists are often at war , so to speak, with other archaeological interpretations by faith communities. One of these particular arguments is that Paganism is not considered to be a real religion, like that of Christianity or the Islamic faith. Paganism is not widely practiced in the United States like it is over in the UK and other European countries. Stonehenge has been connected in one way or another to the religion of Paganism. Building of Stonehenge Stonehenge was built in the Neolithic early Bronze Age era. The human race did not settle in the area of Wiltshire until around 4,000 BCE 3,000 BCE (Cusack 2012). According to Fagan, local farmers built a simple enclosure (Cusack 2012). There are five stones, which consist of the Heel Stone that is located outside of the north eastern entrance. The Slaughter Stone, which lies flat on the east side of the entranceway, is considered to be part of a pair that could have created an entrance. The final two Station Stones are located in the bank (Cusack 2012). Over the few hundred years, more timber monuments were built, possibly to assist in the purpose of Stonehenge. Many archaeologists have disputed over the phases of not only the construction of Stonehenge but also the chronology of Stonehenge as well as the possibilities of what it was used for (Cusack 2012). A main argument has been supplied that torture is ineffective in its purpose to gather information from the victim. The usefulness of torture has been questioned because prisoners might use false information to elude their torturers, which has occurred in previous cases of torture. It has also been supposed that torture is necessary in order to use the information to save many lives. Torture has been compared to civil disobedience. The Issue Of Affirmative Action On the contrary, supports of affirmative action feel that this law is still needed in America to help places of higher education have more diversity which will benefit companies in the long run and it also helps companies be more diverse and it helps them thrive. In the past few decades the number of minorities and females in places of higher education and companies have been rising at a slow rate. During 2012, the health care industry was suffering from lack of medical personal in the medical field; however, 16% of the U.S. population is Latino and 14% is African American, these groups constituted only 9% and 7%, respectively, of the total U.S. medical school enrollment in 2012 (Graces, paragraph 2). The rate of minorities enrolled in medical school has been slowly rising over the years. Having minorities and females in a company helps the company be more diverse while also giving the company employees that can help the company thrive and be successful. Supporters feel that this law benefits people who usually would not have a chance of attending a place of higher education or be a part of a company an equal and fair chance. (Kwek 2011) It is important when conducting a in depth interview to not lead the interviewee but to probe them for more information. The person conducting the interview must not agree with of disagree with the interviewee this is vital so the interviewee does not feel induced into to answering a question in a certain way. The interviewer must use more open questions to gain more in depth information from the interviewee and then confirm this in depth by using closed questions to ensure the data being collected is on track. The open, axial and reflective coding method was used to analyse the data. Open coding is the first coding method used in analysing the in depth interview data. Open coding helps to make sense of the process and identify the root of the issue. The interviews were evenly split between married and single women. Some of the issues for married women in the open coding stage were things such as; * Age feeling too old * Body image being embarrassed by their body * Housework having to cook and cleaning the house * Kids transporting and caring for children * Work working long hours and irregular hours * No motivation finding it hard to feel motivated to exercise * No friends to exercise with not having a partner or group to exercise with * Poor knowledge of physical activities not knowing the best methods to participate in physical activity * Low energy levels ... • 13. My Understanding Of Education Level Peace Building Efforts... I. Introduction Listening to four women peacemakers, rather peacebuilders, from different countries, cultures and contexts has broadened and, at the same time, challenged my understanding of gender dynamics in conflict context. This reflection essay aims to discuss how these presentations deepened and complicated my understanding of gender. It will mainly focus on Kurshid s presentations of violent extremism in Pakistan. However, I will also use part of Fatma s presentation on Western Sahara for the first part of the discussion below. II. Gender Issues and Perspectives During the presentations, I came across with numerous issues and points that enriched my understanding of gender. For the purposes of this essay, I will limit myself to the discussion of how the presentations broadened my understanding of gender as social construct; expanded my insight of violence beyond an armed conflict; provided me insight on grassroots level peace building efforts; renewed my faith in the value of education; and challenged my prejudices and provided me with fresh insights and gender perspectives to conflict and peacebuilding. Gender as a social construct and Conflict a Deconstruction of Gender Primarily, both Kurshid s and Fatma s presentations strengthened my understanding of gender as a social construct. The second phase is dedicated to a step by step improvement. This improvement needs to be done anyway and during this phase we gain time to educate the people better, so that they could run the Pan Orient machine and that they have a chance to find new jobs if the new machine arrives. The main idea of this phase is to convert the production line from a pure batch oriented to a more JIT process. This would help us to reduce downtime and increase quality, with the longer term objective that the quality of the batteries increases so much, that we would even be able to eliminate the final electrical output test. However, this goal is very challenging and we might fail. Therefore we created the third phase. The third phase, which would come into play approximately one year after starting phase II, would be dedicated to acquire the Pan Orient machine, or whatever machine would satisfy our need at that time. With this machine and the improvements we did so far, we would be definitively able to eliminate the battery testing loop, resulting in a payback of about 2.9 years of this machine.
