Compare And Contrast Porter s Five Forces And...
The global pharmaceutical industry is one that is seen to be riddled with misunderstanding and
confusion; however, many of the questions emerging companies have can be answered by a
thorough analysis of this industry and how these companies compare to one another on many
different fronts. Analyzing the global pharmaceutical industrycan bring to light how we in the
United Statescompare on the grounds of industry attractiveness to our global counterparts.
Looking at Porter s Five Forces model and how it fits into the global pharmaceutical industry can
start to explain the true attractiveness of the industry. Buyer power tends to be the strongest force
in this industry due to the price control policies in state and private sectors that are a large
determinant when it comes to likeliness to purchase. Another issue is that medical professionals
wield a significant amount of power in what drugs are available to consumers or not. It is also to
important to note that entry barriers may include many governmental regulatory issues that will
vary from country to country and largely affect if specific drugs are allowed to be sold or not.
Rivalry in the industry is also very strong due to the strong competition between larger firms and
smaller generic companies fighting for the customer s loyalty. Supplier power is also important to
note while looking at this industry because the nature of the products being created require a lot of
extra manufacturing and time. Due to the

How It Feelings To Be Colored By Zora Neale Hurston
Critical response essay How it feels to be colored written in 1972 by Zora Neale Hurston is a
very descriptive piece in which the author, talks about what it was like growing up in all black
community where she felt no race, until stepping into a more mixed and diverse environment.
Surrounded by more people of the white origin, where she begins to feel the feeling of being
different Colored . Neale uses a very descriptive word choice and attention grabbing metaphors to
help portray her belief That it doesn t matter the shade nor colorof an individual s skin, when judged
based on personal morals and the desire of one s wellbeing we do not differ so much at all and in
fact we all share similar characteristics. Zora helps bring to light the social indifferences a colored
personmay have felt in those times. I believe her work helps portray that given the short end of
the stick, life is what you make it; and how you perceive things. Once an individual has self
happiness theirs not a person or thing that can take that away from them. Neale s work how it
feels to be colored me takes place in Eatonville, Florida where Zora the main character outlines her
journey from a curious little colored girl, into a self assured, independent Black woman. Growing
up in an environment where white peoplewere just persons that passed through town heading to and

the messenger themes essay
Novel Essay
The Messenger
Everyone can live beyond what they are capable of. Discuss in relation to The Messenger
The Messenger by Markus Zusak shows us that everyone can live beyond what they are capable
of. As the protagonist Ed, helps those in need, he is challenged to do things beyond his
capability. In the beginning, Ed is described as the epitome of ordinariness and he is called a
dead man . The reason for this is because he has no meaning to his life and nothing to live for, no
goals, ambitions or plans for the future. When he starts receiving the cards however, Ed, for the
first time in his life makes a difference in the world around him which pushes him to achieve
beyond what he was originally capable of.

This tells us how much Ed cares and loves Audrey and wants more than a friendship for the both of
them to have.
Love:
Love is a powerful theme in the book the messenger, it affects most characters, especially Ed,
Audrey and Ed s mum.
Love is what Ed ultimately desires. Ed wants Audrey to fall in love with Ed and for Audrey to
experience love again, as opposed to just sex. Ed s role being the messenger eventually allows
Audrey to fall in love with Ed and not fear love as she did in past relationships.
Ed also seeks love within his Mother and for her to accept him as her son. After the Clown Street
message and the heavy discussion with his mother, Ed gains an understanding of why their
relationship is so broken. This leads ED into a better situation with his mother and overall the
love he has been asking and craving for from his mother, even if its not the traditional love we
would expect between a mother and son. My heart is so tired , Ed says to himself after trying and
trying to win over Audrey, this quote shows us how much Ed has tried and tried to love but Audrey
wouldn t except it.
Violence:
Violence plays a big role, starting with the bank robbery. Ed will and did face a lot of violence
from Edgar street, the rose brothers, the sledge match, Daryl and Keith, an as readers we are
quite aware that all of these obstacles have shaped and changed Ed s life mostly for the better. This
is usually shown with Ed s ease with violence, even when confronted by a

We must see that organizations exist in the socioeconomic environment the way fish exist in the
ocean, and the way we exist in the physical environment. In knowing the similarities and
differences in each metaphor, the manager of the organization will be able to use the organism in
the area that it is needed the most and also use the machine in the area where it is needed the
most. The organism can adapt to different environments and the machine can perform repetitively
the same functions. The metaphors are most valuable in the organization once you train and

Abstract
Money has a huge impact on us as individuals, changing our behaviour and the way we view
others. In order to see how great of an effect money has a study was conducted involving
participants recruited from Psyc106 classes. Participants partook in an experiment requiring them
to complete a task which involved money priming. Half the students were exposed to words
associated with money while the other group were used as a control group, being exposed to
neutral words only. Following this task, participants were asked to complete a survey which would
help determine whether or not money priming had any effect on their way of thinking or behaviour.
The results found that money priming in fact had no effect on the person s behaviour, and any
variances were mainly due to the difference in opinions of males and females.
Effects of Money Activation on Level of Support for Government Goods and Services Programmes
and Privatization of Public Goods and Services
Does exposure to the concept of money have the ability to affect our views and opinions? In
today s society, money has an overwhelming control over human behaviour and quality of life. It

The Importance Of Bilingualism On Child Development
Due to the increased migration and globalization, the shift in linguistic demographics and the
advent of multiculturalism sparked researchers interest to investigate the cognitive mechanism
behind bilingualism. Whether bilingualism has significant imprint on the development is still
premature to conclude with absolute certainty. However, with rich theoretical background, growing
number of empirical evidence supports the undeniable perk of bilingualism in various realms of
cognitive development. Despite the on going debate over the benefit of bilingualism, bilingualism
became an emerging topic among researchers and scholars like Ellen Bialystok, Stephanie Carlson,
and Albert Costa have been conducting research exploring the mechanism of bilingualism and
executive functions. After all, Vygotsky also argued that bilingualism may have positive impact on
human mind (Vygotsky, 1962). On the one hand, patterning, an ability to extract the underlying rule
of a sequence and to predict by applying the rule, is a highly endorsed and utilized skill that received
relatively low attention from researchers. Surprisingly little is known about the mechanism behind
the patterning and its cognitive impact, and yet the educators and policy makers have implemented
patterning instruction for last several decades. Patterning has not been widely studied in the field of
developmental psychology despite of the importance. Vast majority of the literature comes from

Fleet Tracking Essay
X Fleet Tracking Tips To Increase Efficiency Profit
Fuel, maintenance and repair, and insurance costs are all expenses every fleet incurs. The fleet that
manages these costs the most efficiently has a competitive advantage, and will enjoy greater
earnings. Following are three fleet tracking tips to increase efficiency and profit.
Fuel
Fuel is the largest operating expense for fleets. Taking tight control of this expense can bring about
significant economic benefits. GPS tracking systems offer huge advantages to fleet managers
because they make fuel purchases, and use, transparent. Managers are able to view when and
where fuel purchases or made, and by whom. They can view reports that systematically display
cost per mile, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The optimized route details the most efficient, and cost effective course, and deviations from that
itinerary, generally reduce the profit of the load. Fleet management software can include the
preferred fuel stops into the route. Using complex algorithms, the program calculates how far off
the route the fuel stop is, while weighing in the cost of the fuel at that station. Refueling stops, that
reflect the least route departure, at the maximum cost savings, are part of the planned route the
driver will follow. This eliminates many of the deadhead miles that result in reaching an off course
refueling station.
Driving Performance
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that driver impact on fuel efficiency is, as
much as, 33%. GPS fleet management systems monitor driving behavior that waste fuel, such as
hard acceleration, excessive use of air conditioning, hard breaking, idling, and driving at
inconsistent speeds. These behaviors often improve when drivers become aware that they are being
monitored, however, fleet managers can trigger alerts for driving actions that are both unsafe, and
wasteful of fuel.
Preventative Maintenance and Repair
Maintenance and repair are the second largest operational expenses for fleets. Professionals
advocate that a rigorous regimen of preventative maintenance is essential for efficient and profitable
fleet management. Not only does preventative

The Logistics Plaza of Zaragoza is the largest logistic park in Europe. It is a ten year project that
started in 2000, which is now at the middle of its completion. There are not many articles on
logistic parks up till now because it is a very recent development. Generally, logistic activities
would grow around strategic part without any pre planning. Due to overcrowding of those areas,
governments are now trying to place logistics in more decentralized regions and are trying to create
services in order to attract customers.

They might give Plaza the option of easily taking back the initial investment, however, they would
not be a focus for FDI nor would help in promoting Zaragoza as an important logistic European
center. International companies are still doubtful of settling down in PLAZA.
They still do not see the advantage of committing to a place where none of the services offered
are already up and running. Despite the facility, the airport still has very small cargo activity.
Railways are being built, but not a single train stops at PLAZA, therefore opportunities of linking
with ports are still to be exploited. Intermodality is still at the planning stage and the direct
connection to Europe through the Pyrenees is seemed as a long term project.
The brightest view of opening a tunnel through the Pyrenees is ten years away, due to the sudden
investment necessary to both Spain and France. The pillars of PLAZA cannot be built without the
necessary infrastructure. Up till now it is not a strong strategic area and is unable to apply
Intermodality; the only benefit is the comparatively low cost of land.
However, the cheaper land is not a very attractive choice for multinational companies; this will not
draw them to the park. The achievement of the project is still at risk. Managers, backed by the
government, still have to work tough to build up strong reliability and make sure that the essential
infrastructure is put in place so that Plaza becomes the best logistic park in

The Destructiveness Of The Slave Trade
ATIENZA, Rizsa Mae 03 October 2015 Fall 2015 HIST 177 Primary Document Analysis The
Destructiveness of the Slave Trade Olaudah Equiano begins the narrative by describing his
home. He paints for his audience a charming, very fruitful picture of his province Essaka. It was
a place where all the neighborhood children would come together and play whilst their parents
were away laboring in the fields. He recalls being taught by his mother how to defend himself.
They would practice shooting and throwing javelins all the ways of their greatest warriors. It
was to his utter dismay however; that he would never again be able to relive those moments, for
he and his sister had been captured. He stated that an end was put to his happiness the day they
were kidnapped. He goes on to speak of the days following the abduction, and how he and his
sister tried to resist and break free but to no avail. The little comfort they found was in each
other, but it was not long before they too were forced to separate. Olaudah s narrative shines light
on the resistance of many African captives while sharing his very own experience and the
resentment he felt towards the hostile and desensitizing slave trade. Early in the passage Olaudah
makes a comparison of his people to the Jews. He lists the similarities in their cultural practices,
such as: circumcision, feasting, and the naming of their children after special events or
circumstances. His purpose in doing this was to legitimize his people by

Greek Art Power
Introduction The capacity of a society to produce art is, in effect, an exercise of its power. It is
through the presence of affluence that a nation is capable of focusing not solely upon survival,
but the development and proliferation of culture, of which art is a central element. The Greek
and Roman Empires will be explored from this perspective. Herein, the way in which the power
of these two empires was exemplified through the art they were capable of producing will be
explored in depth herein. As will be demonstrated, the substantial cultures each nation developed, in
concert with the art therein, were supported through the power of the nation states of Greece and
Rome. For a creative class to exist to produce art, a leisure class... Show more content on

The Roman conquest of the Greek East resulted in the beginning of a substantial period of
acculturation. At the time, the Roman city state was considered relatively primitive, however,
upon having taken the Greek East, took much from Hellenistic culture. The successful conquest of
this region demonstrated the military and economic superiority of Rome over Greece. The fact
that a younger nation, that of Rome, was capable of conquering a more ancient civilization
demonstrated the rapid military progress realized by the nation. The borrowing of much of the
culture that had been defeated was an oddity from a historical perspective. Generally, when a
nation conquered another, the culture of the victorious nation would eclipse that of the conquered
peoples. The reverse was realized in the Roman conquest over Greece through the superior
cultural development of Greece over Rome at the time in the 2nd century B.C. Prior to the
conquest of the Greek East, much of what would become Roman culture would have been
considered to be excess. The cities of Greece, such as Classical Athens, had a refined high culture,
contrasting sharply with the lesser cultured Roman cities. The high culture of Greece, as discussed
above, allowed for the development of a form of art that was applied to both pottery and the
equipment of war, with this equipment failing in the face of Roman military might and

Lean Six Sigma And Benchmarking
Quality is a measure of excellence that conforms to requirements and free from defects in a service
or product and which meets the standards for a customer. Benchmarking is a method to compare
the key metrics of their day to day operation with other companies in the same industry
(Marksberry, 2011). This helps the companies to identify how they are performing, how they can
improve their processes and systems and in turn become more competitive. Benching marking is a
method to understand how to get the best performance in an organization, by the competitor or a

Explain The Sliding Filament Theory Of Muscle Action
The sliding filament theory of a muscle action has five phases. The first phase is resting. In this
phase there is no calcium available to bind the myosin to the actin. This is the normal state of the
muscle until activated by the excitatory phase. During this second phase, the sarcoplasmic
reticulum becomes stimulated. This releases calcium ions and binds with troponin. This is a
protein that is strung along the actinfilaments. Tropomyosin runs along the actin filaments. The
actin is pulled closer to the sarcomere. The contraction phase is when it gets interesting. ATP is
broken down into ADP in order to create energy for the contraction. To return to the normal state of
the muscle, ATP replaces ADP and aids in detachment of the myosin

discusses how high achieving students struggle in collegebecause they never had to try in

important because it looks first hand at what is causing gifted underachievers to not meet their

population ages 5 and older. Although most LEP individuals were foreign born, nearly one fifth of
this population was native born, about three quarters of whom were children ages 5 to 17.
(Batalova, 2013)
Foreign born individuals will face a major cultural impact if the official changing the language to
English happens. It take some time to affect the entirety of the United States, but the majority of the
success of that change will come from the border states: California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico,
and Florida.
State agencies will need the support of the Federal government in order to facilitate changes in such
a way that non English speaking immigrants do not overcome those agencies in the supply/demand
of needs.
State agencies will also face scrutiny in the successful crossover of languages, by pushing the issue
within their own major avenues; education, healthcare, and human services. As the Federal
Government trickles down its changes, the State must come together to format its own set of rules
and regulations, to implement state controlled projects and to

support effective management in organisations
Executive assistants are employees of a company who supports the executive, CEO or manager and
has ability to make decisions that affect the company. In addition, the executive assistant will
perform responsibilities involving research, communications, correspondence, and office
management. In some organisations, the executive assistant will attend meetings or conferences in

A management style is an overall method of leadership used by a manager. There are two main
management styles: Autocratic (leader makes all decisions unilaterally) and Permissive (leader
permits subordinates to take part in decision making and also gives them a considerable degree of
autonomy in completing routine work activities). Combining both categories with democratic and
directive styles give four distinct ways to manage:
Directive Democrat: Makes decisions participative; closely supervises subordinates.
Directive Autocrat: Makes decisions unilaterally; closely supervises subordinates.
Permissive Democrat: Makes decisions participative; gives subordinates latitude in carrying out
their work.
Permissive Autocrat: Makes decisions unilaterally; gives subordinates latitude in carrying out their
work. Managers must also adjust their styles according to the situation that they are presented with.
Additionally, there are four quadrants of situational leadership that depend on the amount of
support and guidance needed: telling, delegating, participating and selling. Different styles depend
on the situation and the relationship behaviour and task behaviour. What s more, skills in
leadership, critical thinking and organization are three general attributes that employers look for by

Abstract
The point of this investigation was to determine if there is a relationship between the two subtypes
of psychopathy and cognitive empathy. A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson,
Kiehl and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s
(2002) Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology
students. Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative
correlation between primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation
between secondary psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is
correlated with cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship.
Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive
Empathy?
Many studies have been conducted to determine if there is a correlation between Cognitive
Empathy and the two subtypes of Psychopathy (e.g. Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010; Levenson,
Kiehl, Fitzpatrick, 1994; Baron Cohen, et al., 2002). Cognitive empathy is defined as the capability
to understand the emotions of another (Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010). Psychopathy is defined as
an individual who shows traits of

Cultural Analysis of Spain
**this was written as the first stage of analyizing Spain for the introduction of a franchise**
In the beginning, Spain endured a diversified number of cultures. Around 1600 B.C., the Iberians
arrived in Spain. Migration into Spain continued from Europe beyond the Pyrenees, the
Mediterranean, and North Africa. Following the Iberians, came the Celts. The two cultures merged
and established a distinctive Celt Iberian culture. In 1492, the Moors, a nomadic, Muslim tribe of
North African origin, were driven off of the Iberian Peninsula. Shortly after, several kingdoms on
the Iberian Peninsula merged to form what is modern day Spain.
Spain is located in southwestern Europe and occupies approximately 80% of the Iberian Peninsula.
It shares the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditional Spanish food consists of fresh ingredients. Seafood, which is consumed within hours
of being caught, as well as meat, are combined with herbs, spices, and lots of olive oil in
traditional Spanish cuisine. Because of the increase in the number of fast food restaurants in Spain
as well as restaurants from other countries with their own flavors, the traditional food of Spain is
starting to decrease but will never be forgotten.
Today s democratic Spain is the product of a long and often troubled history. For much of the
twentieth century, Spain was governed by dictatorships, most recently during the years of 1939
through 1975 under General Francisco Franco.
The government of Spain is one of constitutional monarchy. The nation is led by the Spanish head
of state, King Juan Carlos I, who began his reign in 1975. Subordinate to the monarchy, there are 3
branches of government, an Executive Branch, a Legislative Branch, and a Judicial Branch.
Although Spain is a kingdom, the King is not the leader of the Spanish government. The Executive
Branch is led by the Prime Minister of Spain, Jose Maria Aznar. Also included in this branch are
various governmental positions including the First Deputy Prime Minister, Second Deputy Prime
Minister, and the Council of Ministers. Additionally, the Executive Branch is responsible for
enforcing or carrying out the laws that are made through the Legislative Branch.
The Legislative Branch of the Spanish government is comprised of

The Movie Amelie
The film Amelie provides multiple examples of individuals sacrificing, and applying Campbell s
moral objective to their own lives. One of the people from the film that follow the objective is
Dominique Bretodeau. When he was a young boy, he lost his treasure box. Directly after it was
returned to him from a stranger, he began to tear up over the lost memories that the box contained.
He then confides in people at the bar that he has not spoken to his daughter in years, and because
of this does not know his grandson. This simple act of kindness was enough to make Bretodeau
sacrificehis pride enough to reconcile with his daughter and grandson. He had no idea if his
family was going to open their arms, or push him away for being away for so long. This failed to
stop Bretodeau. This journey of becoming a herowas a spiritual one. Most of the conflict happened
within his own heart. A small act of thoughtfulness helped a man choose to create a better life for
him, and his estranged family.

Sandy Hook Promise Persuasive Goals
The ability to do anything effectively is through knowledge of the different tools to do the task,
and which tool would be most effective. Persuading an audience with an advertisement is no
different. The goal of an advertisement is for viewers to purchase a product or learn about a
subject. An advertisement is considered effective when the targeted audience is persuaded to take
the action that the advertisement is suggesting. An advertisement by the Sandy Hook Promise,
Evan, focuses on a boy in high school. The advertisement shows him exchanging messages on a
desk with an unknown girl. Once he discovers who the girl is, someone enters the room they are in

The study surveyed participants attitudes towards organizations after watching advertisements by
organizations. The advertisements varied in levels of guilt evoked. The purpose of the study was
to see how appealing to guilt would influence the effectiveness of the advertisement. What the
researchers found was guilt appeals can have positive effects on behavioral intentions, notably
donating behavior (2007, p. 729). This suggests that when someone feels guilty, they want to get
rid of the guilt and believe that they can do so through their own actions and help society. Even
though the study is focused on donations, the concept regarding an advertisement s effectiveness
is the same. Donating money is a simple action, since it is sometimes a one time thing people do,
and does impose a burden of time to the donator. Visiting a website is no different because it too
is an action that is only taken once, and is not extremely time consuming. The study also
discovered that children s charities are of high personal importance to the majority of people
(Hibbert et al., 2007). This is related to the Sandy Hook Promise advertisement because when
people see the source of the advertisement, Sandy Hook Promise, they see the organization as one
that affects the

Essay Emile Durkheim and the Collective Conscience
Emile Durkheim and the Collective Conscience Emile Durkheim (1858 1917) was a French
sociologist who strongly influenced the discipline of sociology. It was apparent to Durkheim that
since the French Revolution, the nation had been wracked by conflict and moral crisis (Stones,
2008). At the individual level, rising suicide rates reflected a growing sense of malaise. Durkheim s
goal was to develop a sociologythat would help France overcome this continuing moral crisis. By
tracing the influences on Durkheim to his predecessor August Comte and the German scholars of
experimental psychology, it is possible to understand how Durkheim came to the conclusion that
society is greater than the individual, and how his idea of a collective... Show more content on

In contrast, individuals who populate any society are eminently social beings guided by moral
rules. Pope and Johnson (1983) state that Durkheim proposed that society revitalizes individuals
and gives them strength to persevere in the face of the vicissitudes of everyday life. Stones
(2008), further states that Durkheim felt that we acquired all the best in ourselves and all the
things that distinguish us from other animals from our social existence. Thought, language,
world views, rationality, morality and aspirations are derived from society. Thus, the
unsocialised individual, the individual divorced form society, the beast within us, is a poor
approximation of the highly socialised beings that constitute societies. The importance of social
factors over the individual can also be seen in Durkheim s work on suicide (Stones, 2008).
Suicide was explained in terms of two independent variables, integration in society and regulation
by society. Low levels of integration led to egoistic suicide, while low levels of regulation led to
anomic suicide. Durkheim cited egoism and anomie as the main causes of suicide in the modern
world; a world which he believed showed less interaction and people thinking more about
themselves than others. As a result, people are less bound to one another, there is less community
and social control is weaker (Stones, 2008). Durkheim applied his

Optimization Of Water And Nano Fluid
Constructal optimization of water and nano fluid flow for micro channel heat sinks with
rectangular cross section
Abstract
In this paper, three dimensional water and Al2O3 water nano fluid flow and heat transfer is
optimized geometrically using constructal theory. A numerical code based on the finite volume
method and SIMPLER algorithm is developed to solve the governing equations. The code is
carefully validated by comparing numerical predictions with experimental data. In this study we
consider aspect ratio, number of channels in the heat sink and solid fraction factor as degrees of
freedom. Given a specific volume and axial length of the micro channel heat sinks and a fixed
pressure drop, we want to find out the best possible number of channels in the system, and
geometry of each channel that maximizes the global thermal conductance. Furthermore we
investigate the effect of different pressure drops. The results show that the geometric parameters
have a strong effect on the performance of micro channel heat sink. Comparison of the results of
water and Al2O3 water nano fluid indicate that neither Re nor pressure drop along the channel are
good parameters to compare the thermal performance of nano fluid and water.

Working Memory Model Essay
Baddeley and Hitch (1974) criticised the multi store model for being a very simplistic view of
memory. They saw short term memory as a store that had many individual sections inside it. This
was supported by patient KF who had epilepsy, the doctor wanted to try and remedy this by
removing his hippocampus. This surgery was done, however instead of fixing his epilepsy, it
damaged his short term memory, yet he still had his long term memory intact. In the multi store
model it states that in order to have long term memory, one needs to have gone through the several
stores, such as the sensory memory store, the short term memory and then by adding meaning and
rehearsal, into the long term memory store. Seen as patient KF could still encode long... Show more

Another positive is the fact that it can be applied, or rather generalised to real life. For example in
job interviews when we talk, or when people text and drive, and it can cause us to crash. Finally
another strength of the working memory model is that is provides us an explanation for the brain
damaged patients KF and SC. As it shows us logical evidence that there is other stores in
memory, rather than the oversimplified view of the multi store model. However, it does have its
weakness, one such weakness is its only address short term memory, not long term memory, and
therefore it is not a detailed model of memory, as it doesn t address long term memory. Another
weakness is the circular argument, as it makes it difficult to find fault with the working memory
mode. The circular argument is that if two task cannot be done together, then it s assumed that tis
is because both of which are overloading on of the components in the working model. If two tasks
can be done together, it s assumed they are from different components of the working model,
meaning the model can explain any results. Finally another weakness is the fact that the working
memory model has been conducted in laboratories. Therefore it means that it may not be able to
generalise these result into everyday

Sikhism In Sikhism
Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world is five hundred years old. Like Hinduism,
Sikhism also believes in the endless cycle of rebirth and the karma generated past life affecting
the place where you are born. The founder of this religion was Guru Nanak and his followers
became Sikhs. Guru Nanak was born in Hindu family in northern India with exposure to both
Hindu and Muslim religions. Kings of Lodhi dynasty were the rulers and conditions in the
country were sewer. Adultery and debauchery were the common practices at that time and young
women were caught in the open market without any restriction (Singh 1). Marriageable and
grown up girls were taken away from their parents. Girls were mistreated and parents were afraid
to give birth to girl child so they began to murder their own girl child. Thousands of girls were
put to death and buried in the ground. Pregnant women were considered as burdensome to her
husband and if women gave birth to female child it was considered bad and everyone weep on
the birth of female child. Instead of killing their daughters some parents began to marry their
daughters as soon as they were born. Many people adapted the system of childhood marriage and it
soon became a culture (Singh 2). Sri Guru Nanak Devji was born in 1469 in Talwandi, a village in
the Sheikhupura district, 65 kms. west of Lahore. He was married in 1487 and was blessed with

Langston Hughes is arguably the most famous black writer in all of American history. His works

shinning beacon of American artistry at its best. Part of his genius in addressing racial issues in the
United States is in his nuanced approach to racial healing. Langston Hughespresents two different
ways of looking at the issue of race: one in Theme for English B and I, Too highlights a need for
national unity and oneness, while another, expressed in his essay The Negro Artist and the Racial

Martin Luther Essay
Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a German theologian and religious reformer, who started the
Protestant Reformation, and whose vast influence during his time period made him one of the
crucial figures in modern European history. Luther was born in
Eisleben on November 10, 1483 and was descended from the peasantry, a fact that he often
stressed. Hans Luther, his father, was a copper miner. Luther received a sound primary and
secondary education at Mansfeld, Magdeburg, and Eisenach. In
1501, at the age of 17, he enrolled at the University of Erfurt, receiving a bachelor s degree in 1502
and a master s degree in 1505 . He then intended to study law, as his father had wished. In the

Both the exact date and the location of this experience have been a matter of controversy among
scholars, but the event was crucial in Luther s life, because it turned him decisively against some of
the major tenets of the Catholic church. Luther became a public and controversial figure when he
published his Ninety Five Theses on October 31, 1517.
His main purpose of writing the theses was to show his opposition for the corruption and wealth of
the papacy and to state his belief that salvation would be granted on the basis of faith alone rather
then by works. Although it is generally believed that Luther nailed these theses to the door of All
Saints
Church in Wittenberg, some scholars have questioned this story, which does not occur in any of his
own writings. Regardless of the manner in which his propositions were made public, they caused
great excitement and were immediately translated into German and widely distributed .
Luther s spirited defense and further development of his position through public university debates
in Wittenberg and other cities resulted in an investigation by the Roman Curia that led to the
condemnation of his teachings and his excommunication. Summoned to appear before Charles V at
the Diet of
Worms in April 1521, he was asked before the assembled secular and ecclesiastical rulers to recant.
He refused firmly,

Analysis Of A Wall Of Fire Rising
What is Our Purpose on Earth?
A Wall of Fire Rising is a wonderful book written by Edwidge Danticat. Edwidge was born in
Haiti in 1969. She s written three plays and seven novels. In the Wall of Fire Rising theirs three
main characters which are little guy, Guy, and Lili. Now little guy starts preparing for the play he
was going to be in, which has some lines which seem to always get to his father Guy. Why did Guy
get into the air balloon and jump out? Maybe he thought he d survive and was willing to take a
chance. It could also be that it was his only way to feel something more then he felt for a long time.
Guy was so worried about little guy doing the play and remembering his lines. In the story it
says, Guy struggled with the letters of the slave revolutionary s name as he looked over his son
s shoulders, I see some very hard words here, son ( Danticat 149). Why was he being so hard on
little guy about the speech ? Saying things like very hard words here ,like his son was incapable
of learning his lines or was it deeper (Danticat 149). Boy recites his lines, A wall of fire rising
and in the ashes, I see the bones... (Danticat 149). The lines left Lili and Guy both with a strange
feeling it says( Danticat 149). Since boy read his first lines Guy wouldn t let him read them again.

guy want to hear them again? What was the effect it had on him?

Television As A Place Of Fantasy And Enjoyment For An...
Television dramas in today s day and age has become a place of fantasy and enjoyment for an
audience ranging in different ages. It was created to build upon creative idea s of scriptwriters
and producers; however, the basis of these creative idea s stems from daily life occurrences that
one sees on a regular span. This can include crime, politics, family, or romance, but in reality,
how many of these ideas and scripts are an accurate representation of daily life in terms of those
subjects? Edgar Allan Poe once said that one should, Believe only half of what you see and
nothing that you hear. and this can answer the question set above. This is because realistically,
society should only be believing in half of what they see and nothing that they hear on
television. The shows that are created to air on television are built and directed in order to keep
a person s interest; the accuracy of the information of which is relayed at times are the least of a
scriptwriters concerns as facts are not always as exciting as drama. In contrast, there are
exceptions in these cases and it can be seen within the media portrayed show, Law and Order:
Special Victims Unit (Wolf,1999) as it shows an accurate real life representation of court and
police proceedings that is demonstrated through coerced confessions, role of a forensic psychiatrist
in a criminal affair, and a hung jurysituation.

Discussing Drug Legalization
Drugs are bad, mkay. That s what we ve come to learn from Mr. Mackey in South Park (Ike s
Wee Wee). While that is known, what is the best way to combat drug use in society today? It is
true the government is spending billions of dollars on the War on Drugs, but if they were to be
legalized would that be replaced with money being spent on healthcare due to drugrelated
incidents, or drug treatment programs? It is true that a large amount of crime and the prison
population are drug related offenders, but would that reduce with drug legalization or would we
not see any difference? It is true that there is the pro and con side of this debate, but if drugs
were to be legalized what sanctions should be set, if any? It is true that Portugal has
decriminalized drugs, but will their experience be a good example of what would come to be if
the US were to do the same? Both sides of the debate have a hopeful view of what will ultimately
lead us into the betterment of tomorrow. The issue regarding all drugs being legalized has many
facets with positive and negative impacts that make you question where you truly stand on this
controversial matter.
When it comes to discussing drug legalization it is important to understand why drugs were
initially criminalized and the effects they have on the individual, families and society as a whole.
Most drugs were actually once used medicinally, legally. Amphetamine was given to World War II

Nowadays, College students have been recognized at risk for the development of anxiety. According
to nursing (2006), anxiety is natural reactions to threatening situations. Your body has a fight or
flight reaction your heart races, you breathe faster, you sweat, and your stomach and head may
ache . Therefore, UWS College has provided students with many useful services such as
counselling service, disability service, international student service, workshops and programs.
Inam, Saqib and Alam (2003) believed that students experience anxiety and depression because of
many reasons. Firstly, this is because the high volume of techniques to be absorbed and the
requirement of academic performance. For example, the negative impacts of stress on medical
students contain the weakness of functioning in laboratory performance and clinical exercise, stress
induced disorders and reducing performance. To solve this problem, learners should seek the
advice of school counsellors. A researchindicated that students who have been panic from the
examination failure can manage pressure by improving their feelings of self control. They can
enhance those skills by having appropriate learning strategies, suitable self instructions as well as

Summary Of The Concert By Gerrit Van Honthorst
The art work of Gerrit Van Honthorst called The Concert was painted during the 15th or 16th
century. The title of the painting gives a clue as to what is happening within the painting. The
painting is an oil, canvas. The title The Concert suggests just as in the painting, a group of people is
gathering for a concert. There are intense muted hues of yellow, blue, red, and green. The painting

Logistics In Supply Chain Systems
Logistics is an important part of the supply chain process as it is the phase where products that are
manufactured are packed, stored in warehouse, and transported to the end users when an order is
placed. Logistics deals with lot of data/information about different products, resource, transport, and
warehouse management. With the growth of technology, many devices like RFID, barcode, sensors,
GPS, Telematics etc. have found its use in Logistics resulting in huge amount of data/information
generated from these devices. Information ranging from products available in warehouse to real
time information like where the product is in delivery truck are available which makes Logistics

The data collected regarding the operation/performance of the machine can be compared with the

data collected, Big data analysis can also be done to predict the life of the machine. This will
reduce the unplanned machine downtime and increase the efficiency of the warehouse. An example

Most writers create that one character whom everybody loves; Professor Challenger creates
himself to become that character. The professor expresses bold characteristics which intensifies
the readers want to increase their knowledge of him. Professor Challenger in The Disintegration

Magento Order Analysis
How to Create or Cancel a Magento Order Surprisingly one of the most difficult parts of
practicing Magento is how to create order programmatically through Magento 2 Experts. At least
for me, this covers the most complex area of Magento development. Reason for the difficulty is
that an order creation process is all but not straightforward. You cannot discover order model, set
some data and call upon save() method. Then you will find out what to consider as a solution.

Explain How Is Iago A Sociopath
Raya Tarawneh
5/3/16
Is Iago a Sociopath? One of Shakespeare s most acclaimed works, Othello, delves into a wide range
of themes. The play tackles issues of race, gender and encompasses ideas of jealousy and deceit.
Shakespeare also brings to life a variety of well constructed characters. Iago, the deceitful
antagonist, can easily be identified as the liveliest and most complex character in the play. His
devious nature raises the question of whether or not he is a sociopath. Sociopathy is a mental
disorder in which an individual s moral depravity poses a threat to society. The Psychopathy
Checklist, commonly known as the PCL, constructed a list of criteria used to diagnose sociopaths.
These criteria vary from irresponsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The PCL refers to sociopaths as having superficial charm and glibness , both of which Iago
possesses. When asked by Othello to recap the events of the quarrel, Iago says I had rather have
this tongue cut from my mouth/ Then it should do offence to Michael Cassio (2.3.205 206). In
saying so, Iago comes off to Othello as both honest and loyal, most definitely charming him and
covering up the fact that it was Iago himself who intentionally set up the quarrel in order to
become lieutenant. In document A, conning others for personal profit or pleasure is said to be
usual of sociopaths. This is easily applicable to Iago s character, who for the sake of becoming
lieutenant and destroying Othello, manages to deceive several characters in the play and ends
up being the cause of Roderigo, Desdemona, Emilia and Othello s deaths. Once again, placing
Iago and Ani Korban side by side affirms Iago s sociopathy. Ani Korban praises his psychiatrist
by referring to him/her as one of the most astute and erudite persons he has ever met .
Immediately after saying so, Korban requests a favor: to have access to a payphone. Evidently, he
also has the ability to charm others and, similar to Iago, uses this superficial charm for his own

The Dynamics of Identity and Insanity in The Accidental...
In the plays The Accidental Death of an Anarchist written by Dario Fo, and The Government
Inspector , written by Nikolai Gogol, В‘identity and В‘insanity play vital roles. The Maniac, who is
the protagonist of The Accidental Death of An Anarchist , is seen changing his identity throughout
the play, pretending to be various other people. Khlestakov, the protagonist of The Government
Inspector lands in the position of being an inspector by chance, and throughout the play he
thoroughly exploits this opportunity by making the most of this particular identity. It is this
characteristic of both protagonists that drives the audience to a point where they may start doubting
the sanity of these two characters. These two В‘ingredients of... Show more content on

He is lured into this false identity by his greed. Even when he is pretending to be the government
inspector he is still being greedy. Be careful what you pretend to be because you are what you
pretend to be Kurt Vonnegut. It can be observed that the Maniac as well as Khlestakov are both
paradigms of basic human traits such as greed and curiosity leading to false identity. Nikolai
Gogol, like Fo had a hidden motive behind the changing identity of Khlestakov. He has created
the character of Khlestakov to fulfill the purpose of exposing the corrupt nature of local
administration. As, the officials thought he was the government inspector they tried to bribe
him and the audience was made aware of their deceitful nature. He has chosen to give
Khlestakov the false identity of a government inspector so that he can unravel the truth, which
was the obvious motive of Dario Fo as well. Maniac: Yes, if I were a sane person. But I am mad.
I have a certificate. This dialogue is met with great laughter from the audience. Fo has created the
insane character of the Maniac to add to the humour of the play. He talks to himself as well as
non living objects around him. His dialogues are blunt and clearly reflect his insanity. At some
point his multiple identities is what leads the audience to think he is insane. However, there is a
thin line between insanity and wisdom. Some might perceive the Maniac to be crazy and bizarre to
be fond of changing his

Essay On Weapons In The Civil War
Weapons in the civil war played a huge role in the war. What weapons were better, how fast
could the weapon could be loaded these were all things people had to look at with weapons in
the civil war. There were weapons that you could personally buy or you could just get the
standard weapon they would give you when you to go to war which was a standard musket.so
whos weapons were better? The Minie ball was a huge improvement it was designed to expand
while traveling along the rifle barrel, it increased muzzle velocity as well as causing spin to the
bullet, making its accuracy and range far better. It was made of soft lead, it was a little smaller than
the gunbore, making it easy to load in combat. Many people feel that the reason there were so many
casualties in the war was due to the minie ball. The minie ball was used by both side confederate
and the north, but the north had more ammunition.
Cannons were also a big factor in the war also there were quite a few types of cannons, including
the 6 pounder gun, M1857 12 pounder, 12 pounder Howitzer, 24 pounder Howitzer, 10 pounder
Parrott rifle, 3 inch Ordnance Rifle, and the 20 pounder Parrott rifle. Smoothbore cannon which
were cannons without rifling in the barrel were still used, falling into two categories, guns and
howitzers, for firing at higher trajectories and shorter ranges. There were a lot of swords and sabers
used including, model 1832 foot artillery sword, model 1832 dragoon saber, model 1840 ... Show

Examples Of Trickery In Macbeth
Macbeth is a play about subterfuge and trickery. Macbeth, his wife, and the three Weird Sisters are
linked in their mutual refusal to come out and say things directly. Instead, they rely on implications,
riddles, and ambiguity to evade the truth. Macbeth s ability to manipulate his language and his
public image to hide his foul crimes makes him a very modern seeming politician. As Bernard
McElroy says in his literary criticism about Macbeth, When confronted with the possibility of
committing a daring through criminal act, he willfully deceives himself for a short time and
embraces an opposite view of the world...in the aftermath he s committed to a world view he does
not believe. Macbeth tricks himself into believing it is fine killing... Show more content on

Lady Macbeth mimics this language when she directs her husband to look like an innocent
flower in oder to hide the serpent that truly lurks in his heart(I.v.76 78). The Macbeths know
how to use imagery and appearance to conceal the truth, and sometimes they even use those
skills on themselves. Macbeth asks the stars, Hide your fires/ Let not light see my black and
deep desires/ The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be/ which the eye fears, when it is done, to
see, so that his eye cannot see what his hand does(I.iv.57 60). Similarly, Lady Macbeth asks the
night, Come, thick night/ And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell/ That my keen knife see not
the wound it makes, so that her knife cannot see itself slash its victim(I.v.57 59). The Macbeths
know that their acts are wicked, so they try to hide the knowledge of their deeds from their own
consciousness. Again Bernard McElroy states Macbeth s crime, Destroys his capacity to respect or
even tolerate himself...his own hands are unrecognizable to him, savage, hangman s hands that
would pluck out his eyes. But, in fact, they do not obliterate his vision; he must continue staring at
them, and in time he loses his mind from the guilt. Macbeth changes who he was, from the pressure
his wife put on him and after the crime, not only does he feel guilt, but Lady Macbeth and they
began distancing. In a sense, they wish to equivocate

Albert Bandura s Theory Of Observational Learning
Intro
Today, I will be talking about the famous psychologist Albert Bandura.
Who is Albert Bandura
We have obviously learned about him in the previous unit, so can anyone refresh our memories of
who he is and what did he do. Yes, it s the guy who conducted the Bobo doll experiment which
reflected how children saw the adults beating up the doll, and when the kids went in, they did the
same, which proves his theory of observational learning.
Also, do you remember the 4 processes of observation:
For example: you watch someone ride a bike which is ATTENTION
Then you when get on a bike you re supposed to remember what the person did which is
RETENTION
Then you try to ride the bike which is the act of REPRODUCTION
And finally, if you re actually MOTIVATED to ride the bike, only then you would do so, otherwise
not which is MOTIVATION
Now as we have refreshed what we learned in the course, I m going to teach you something new
about him
Timeline of Events
So first here s a timeline of his life events
So he was born on December 4, 1925 , and graduated with a degree in psychology from British
Columbia in the year of 1949. He then received his PhD in clinical psychology from the Iowa
University. In 1974, he served as a president of the American Psychological Association, and have
also received the award of lifetime achievement in the field of psychology, and that happened in
2004.
Early Life
Albert Bandura was born in a little town called Mundare which is located in Alberta.

The United States Public Education System Essay
Most Americans believe that the United States public education system is largely based on the
principles of work ethic and equal opportunity. We are taught that a strong work ethic is important
in achieving good grades, and that these grades are crucial to attending elite universities and earning
scholarships. The aforementioned features are key components of the dominant American
ideology; a way of seeing that feels natural and inevitable. Although major institutions such as
schools legitimize a societal reward system based on merit and hard work, also known as a
meritocracy, the U.S. public education system evidently contains tremendous inequality, much of
which is maintained and produced through the institution itself. Furthermore, structural factors such
as cumulative advantage, which explains how those who are successful gain additional success,
offer an explanation for the inequalities in the school system that manifest unexpectedly and cannot
be solved by money. Through the legitimation of the dominant American ideology and the process
of cumulative advantage, the U.S. public education system perpetuates social inequality within the
classroom and provides additional power to those already born with better life chances. In social
theory, there exists a long standing debate over whether structure or agency is central in shaping
human behavior. While structure is the underlying set of rules for how a society works, agency is
the ability of the individual to exert choice

Thomas Jefferson A Hypocrite Analysis
The Declaration of Independence states how we as the Thirteen Colonies declared independence
from Great Britain. One of the major arguments made by Thomas Jefferson that supported the
colonies right of independence was how, All men are created equal . However, some question
Jefferson s choice to put forth that statement, and find him a hypocrite, since he himself was a
slave owner. On the contrary, Jefferson should not be seen as a hypocrite, because we can not
judge Jefferson from a modern perspective, as well as Jefferson supported blacks, thus he
included a passage regarding slavery in his draft of the Declaration of Independence, which was
later deleted by congress. One reason why Thomas Jeffersonshould not be seen as a hypocrite is
because we can not pass judgment on Jefferson from a present day point of view. One example
from Thomas Jefferson and the Character Issue by Douglas L. Wilson that highlights this is, the
question of why Jefferson didn t free his slaves only serves to illustrate how presentism involves us
in mistaken assumptions about historical conditions (Wilson pg 6). This quote highlights how we
can not judge from a modern perspective, if we do we would have, mistaken assumptions ,
regarding Jefferson s thoughts. However, it is important to remember that... Show more content on

Lord Of The Flies Civilization Vs Civilization Analysis
The beast shows the significance of civilization because it shows what happens when the boys
lose hope in going back to civilization. When Ralph says that the hunters can t even defeat the
beast, Jack says, He s like Piggy. He says things like Piggy. He isn t a proper chief and leaps down
from the platform and [runs] along the beach when nobody agrees with him (Golding 126 127).
This shows that the beast keeping their chances from returning to civilization brings the boys
deeper into savagery because the boys begin to think of survival rather than rescue. When Ralph
belittles the hunters that Jack believes is vital to survival now that they cannot be rescued, which
causes him to separate and bring about chaos. When the boys think that Simon

`` The Epic Of America `` By James Truslow Adams

Throughout the history of the United States of America, there has been an evident issue with the
newcomers , the American dream, and the upward mobility of the lower class immigrants in

social scientists and historians . American dream is a widely used term that became a powerful
metaphor, of the American values. Americans believe, that these values can be reached through
hard work and individual effort. Amongst these values is one, which James Truslow Adams in
the Epic of America , which signifies one of the values being able to grow to grow to fullest
development as men and women unhampered by the barriers which had slowly been erected for
the benefit of classes, rather than for the simple human being of any and every class . Could

Irish Immigration In The 19th Century Essay
An American Immigrant Journey: A Look at Asian and Irish Immigration in the 19th Century
Many different people have many different stories to tell when talking about how they ended up in
America. Some people had the choice to migrate to America in hope of a better life, while others
were forced against their will to do so. Being American in America seems much more than just
being a United Statescitizen, it has to do more with how they fit in with those who call themselves
American. Re word The Irish immigration in the 19th century was a necessary move for those
who wanted to live. Ireland underwent a famine and many of the Irish were starving and dying due
to lack of nutrients and disease that took over Ireland. Many Americans had problems with these
new Irish immigrants simply because it seemed like they provided America with no benefit at all.
Not only did the Irish come to America not being able to provide benefit for the country, but they
were also very Catholic while in the 19th century, America was a Protestant country. These are two
probably probable? reasons the Irish were discriminated against throughout the 19th century. When
they first arrived, to the Americans, it seemed like the Irish could not be trusted.... Show more

The global pharmaceutical industry is one that is seen to be riddled with misunderstanding and confusion; however, many of the questions emerging companies have can be answered by a thorough analysis of this industry and how these companies compare to one another on many different fronts. Analyzing the global pharmaceutical industrycan bring to light how we in the United Statescompare on the grounds of industry attractiveness to our global counterparts. Looking at Porter s Five Forces model and how it fits into the global pharmaceutical industry can start to explain the true attractiveness of the industry. Buyer power tends to be the strongest force in this industry due to the price control policies in state and private sectors that are a large determinant when it comes to likeliness to purchase. Another issue is that medical professionals wield a significant amount of power in what drugs are available to consumers or not. It is also to important to note that entry barriers may include many governmental regulatory issues that will vary from country to country and largely affect if specific drugs are allowed to be sold or not. Rivalry in the industry is also very strong due to the strong competition between larger firms and smaller generic companies fighting for the customer s loyalty. Supplier power is also important to note while looking at this industry because the nature of the products being created require a lot of extra manufacturing and time. Due to the ... Surrounded by more people of the white origin, where she begins to feel the feeling of being different Colored . Neale uses a very descriptive word choice and attention grabbing metaphors to help portray her belief That it doesn t matter the shade nor colorof an individual s skin, when judged based on personal morals and the desire of one s wellbeing we do not differ so much at all and in fact we all share similar characteristics. Zora helps bring to light the social indifferences a colored personmay have felt in those times. I believe her work helps portray that given the short end of the stick, life is what you make it; and how you perceive things. Once an individual has self happiness theirs not a person or thing that can take that away from them. Neale s work how it feels to be colored me takes place in Eatonville, Florida where Zora the main character outlines her journey from a curious little colored girl, into a self assured, independent Black woman. Effects of Money Activation on Level of Support for Government Goods and Services Programmes and Privatization of Public Goods and Services Shalini Pandaram 48555592 Psychology Department University of Canterbury Abstract Money has a huge impact on us as individuals, changing our behaviour and the way we view others. In order to see how great of an effect money has a study was conducted involving participants recruited from Psyc106 classes. Participants partook in an experiment requiring them to complete a task which involved money priming. Half the students were exposed to words associated with money while the other group were used as a control group, being exposed to neutral words only. Following this task, participants were asked to complete a survey which would help determine whether or not money priming had any effect on their way of thinking or behaviour. The results found that money priming in fact had no effect on the person s behaviour, and any variances were mainly due to the difference in opinions of males and females. • 10. The Importance Of Bilingualism On Child Development Due to the increased migration and globalization, the shift in linguistic demographics and the advent of multiculturalism sparked researchers interest to investigate the cognitive mechanism behind bilingualism. Whether bilingualism has significant imprint on the development is still premature to conclude with absolute certainty. However, with rich theoretical background, growing number of empirical evidence supports the undeniable perk of bilingualism in various realms of cognitive development. Despite the on going debate over the benefit of bilingualism, bilingualism became an emerging topic among researchers and scholars like Ellen Bialystok, Stephanie Carlson, and Albert Costa have been conducting research exploring the mechanism of bilingualism and executive functions. After all, Vygotsky also argued that bilingualism may have positive impact on human mind (Vygotsky, 1962). On the one hand, patterning, an ability to extract the underlying rule of a sequence and to predict by applying the rule, is a highly endorsed and utilized skill that received relatively low attention from researchers. Surprisingly little is known about the mechanism behind the patterning and its cognitive impact, and yet the educators and policy makers have implemented patterning instruction for last several decades. Patterning has not been widely studied in the field of developmental psychology despite of the importance. Vast majority of the literature comes from mathematics education and ... The fleet that manages these costs the most efficiently has a competitive advantage, and will enjoy greater earnings. Following are three fleet tracking tips to increase efficiency and profit. Fuel Fuel is the largest operating expense for fleets. Taking tight control of this expense can bring about significant economic benefits. The optimized route details the most efficient, and cost effective course, and deviations from that itinerary, generally reduce the profit of the load. Fleet management software can include the preferred fuel stops into the route. Using complex algorithms, the program calculates how far off the route the fuel stop is, while weighing in the cost of the fuel at that station. Refueling stops, that reflect the least route departure, at the maximum cost savings, are part of the planned route the driver will follow. This eliminates many of the deadhead miles that result in reaching an off course refueling station. Driving Performance The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that driver impact on fuel efficiency is, as much as, 33%. GPS fleet management systems monitor driving behavior that waste fuel, such as hard acceleration, excessive use of air conditioning, hard breaking, idling, and driving at inconsistent speeds. These behaviors often improve when drivers become aware that they are being monitored, however, fleet managers can trigger alerts for driving actions that are both unsafe, and wasteful of fuel. Preventative Maintenance and Repair Maintenance and repair are the second largest operational expenses for fleets. Professionals advocate that a rigorous regimen of preventative maintenance is essential for efficient and profitable fleet management. Not only does preventative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They might give Plaza the option of easily taking back the initial investment, however, they would not be a focus for FDI nor would help in promoting Zaragoza as an important logistic European center. International companies are still doubtful of settling down in PLAZA. They still do not see the advantage of committing to a place where none of the services offered are already up and running. Despite the facility, the airport still has very small cargo activity. Railways are being built, but not a single train stops at PLAZA, therefore opportunities of linking with ports are still to be exploited. Intermodality is still at the planning stage and the direct connection to Europe through the Pyrenees is seemed as a long term project. The brightest view of opening a tunnel through the Pyrenees is ten years away, due to the sudden investment necessary to both Spain and France. The pillars of PLAZA cannot be built without the necessary infrastructure. Up till now it is not a strong strategic area and is unable to apply Intermodality; the only benefit is the comparatively low cost of land. However, the cheaper land is not a very attractive choice for multinational companies; this will not draw them to the park. The achievement of the project is still at risk. The Destructiveness Of The Slave Trade ATIENZA, Rizsa Mae 03 October 2015 Fall 2015 HIST 177 Primary Document Analysis The Destructiveness of the Slave Trade Olaudah Equiano begins the narrative by describing his home. He paints for his audience a charming, very fruitful picture of his province Essaka. It was a place where all the neighborhood children would come together and play whilst their parents were away laboring in the fields. He recalls being taught by his mother how to defend himself. They would practice shooting and throwing javelins all the ways of their greatest warriors. It was to his utter dismay however; that he would never again be able to relive those moments, for he and his sister had been captured. He stated that an end was put to his happiness the day they were kidnapped. He goes on to speak of the days following the abduction, and how he and his sister tried to resist and break free but to no avail. The little comfort they found was in each other, but it was not long before they too were forced to separate. Olaudah s narrative shines light on the resistance of many African captives while sharing his very own experience and the resentment he felt towards the hostile and desensitizing slave trade. Early in the passage Olaudah makes a comparison of his people to the Jews. He lists the similarities in their cultural practices, such as: circumcision, feasting, and the naming of their children after special events or circumstances. His purpose in doing this was to legitimize his people by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Greek Art Power Introduction The capacity of a society to produce art is, in effect, an exercise of its power. It is through the presence of affluence that a nation is capable of focusing not solely upon survival, but the development and proliferation of culture, of which art is a central element. The Greek and Roman Empires will be explored from this perspective. Herein, the way in which the power of these two empires was exemplified through the art they were capable of producing will be explored in depth herein. As will be demonstrated, the substantial cultures each nation developed, in concert with the art therein, were supported through the power of the nation states of Greece and Rome. The Roman conquest of the Greek East resulted in the beginning of a substantial period of acculturation. At the time, the Roman city state was considered relatively primitive, however, upon having taken the Greek East, took much from Hellenistic culture. The successful conquest of this region demonstrated the military and economic superiority of Rome over Greece. The fact that a younger nation, that of Rome, was capable of conquering a more ancient civilization demonstrated the rapid military progress realized by the nation. The borrowing of much of the culture that had been defeated was an oddity from a historical perspective. Generally, when a nation conquered another, the culture of the victorious nation would eclipse that of the conquered peoples. The reverse was realized in the Roman conquest over Greece through the superior cultural development of Greece over Rome at the time in the 2nd century B.C. Prior to the conquest of the Greek East, much of what would become Roman culture would have been considered to be excess. The cities of Greece, such as Classical Athens, had a refined high culture, contrasting sharply with the lesser cultured Roman cities. The high culture of Greece, as discussed above, allowed for the development of a form of art that was applied to both pottery and the equipment of war, with this equipment failing in the face of Roman military might and ... • 19. Explain The Sliding Filament Theory Of Muscle Action The sliding filament theory of a muscle action has five phases. The first phase is resting. In this phase there is no calcium available to bind the myosin to the actin. This is the normal state of the muscle until activated by the excitatory phase. During this second phase, the sarcoplasmic reticulum becomes stimulated. This releases calcium ions and binds with troponin. This is a protein that is strung along the actinfilaments. Tropomyosin runs along the actin filaments. The actin is pulled closer to the sarcomere. The contraction phase is when it gets interesting. ATP is broken down into ADP in order to create energy for the contraction. To return to the normal state of the muscle, ATP replaces ADP and aids in detachment of the myosin cross ... A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson, Kiehl and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s (2002) Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology students. Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative correlation between primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation between secondary psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is correlated with cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship. At the individual level, rising suicide rates reflected a growing sense of malaise. Durkheim s goal was to develop a sociologythat would help France overcome this continuing moral crisis. Thought, language, world views, rationality, morality and aspirations are derived from society. Thus, the unsocialised individual, the individual divorced form society, the beast within us, is a poor approximation of the highly socialised beings that constitute societies. The importance of social factors over the individual can also be seen in Durkheim s work on suicide (Stones, 2008). Suicide was explained in terms of two independent variables, integration in society and regulation by society. Low levels of integration led to egoistic suicide, while low levels of regulation led to anomic suicide. Durkheim cited egoism and anomie as the main causes of suicide in the modern world; a world which he believed showed less interaction and people thinking more about themselves than others. Optimization Of Water And Nano Fluid Constructal optimization of water and nano fluid flow for micro channel heat sinks with rectangular cross section Abstract In this paper, three dimensional water and Al2O3 water nano fluid flow and heat transfer is optimized geometrically using constructal theory. A numerical code based on the finite volume method and SIMPLER algorithm is developed to solve the governing equations. The code is carefully validated by comparing numerical predictions with experimental data. In this study we consider aspect ratio, number of channels in the heat sink and solid fraction factor as degrees of freedom. Given a specific volume and axial length of the micro channel heat sinks and a fixed pressure drop, we want to find out the best possible number of channels in the system, and geometry of each channel that maximizes the global thermal conductance. Furthermore we investigate the effect of different pressure drops. The results show that the geometric parameters have a strong effect on the performance of micro channel heat sink. Comparison of the results of water and Al2O3 water nano fluid indicate that neither Re nor pressure drop along the channel are good parameters to compare the thermal performance of nano fluid and water. This surgery was done, however instead of fixing his epilepsy, it damaged his short term memory, yet he still had his long term memory intact. • 39. Television As A Place Of Fantasy And Enjoyment For An... Television dramas in today s day and age has become a place of fantasy and enjoyment for an audience ranging in different ages. It was created to build upon creative idea s of scriptwriters and producers; however, the basis of these creative idea s stems from daily life occurrences that one sees on a regular span. This can include crime, politics, family, or romance, but in reality, how many of these ideas and scripts are an accurate representation of daily life in terms of those subjects? Edgar Allan Poe once said that one should, Believe only half of what you see and nothing that you hear. and this can answer the question set above. This is because realistically, society should only be believing in half of what they see and nothing that they hear on television. The shows that are created to air on television are built and directed in order to keep a person s interest; the accuracy of the information of which is relayed at times are the least of a scriptwriters concerns as facts are not always as exciting as drama. In contrast, there are exceptions in these cases and it can be seen within the media portrayed show, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (Wolf,1999) as it shows an accurate real life representation of court and police proceedings that is demonstrated through coerced confessions, role of a forensic psychiatrist in a criminal affair, and a hung jurysituation. While that is known, what is the best way to combat drug use in society today? It is true the government is spending billions of dollars on the War on Drugs, but if they were to be legalized would that be replaced with money being spent on healthcare due to drugrelated incidents, or drug treatment programs? It is true that a large amount of crime and the prison population are drug related offenders, but would that reduce with drug legalization or would we not see any difference? It is true that there is the pro and con side of this debate, but if drugs were to be legalized what sanctions should be set, if any? It is true that Portugal has decriminalized drugs, but will their experience be a good example of what would come to be if the US were to do the same? Both sides of the debate have a hopeful view of what will ultimately lead us into the betterment of tomorrow. The issue regarding all drugs being legalized has many facets with positive and negative impacts that make you question where you truly stand on this controversial matter. When it comes to discussing drug legalization it is important to understand why drugs were initially criminalized and the effects they have on the individual, families and society as a whole. The title The Concert suggests just as in the painting, a group of people is gathering for a concert. There are intense muted hues of yellow, blue, red, and green. The painting contains traditional linear perspective and the book placed on the table helps create the 3 D dimensional on the overall painting. • 47. Explain How Is Iago A Sociopath Raya Tarawneh 5/3/16 Is Iago a Sociopath? One of Shakespeare s most acclaimed works, Othello, delves into a wide range of themes. The play tackles issues of race, gender and encompasses ideas of jealousy and deceit. Shakespeare also brings to life a variety of well constructed characters. Iago, the deceitful antagonist, can easily be identified as the liveliest and most complex character in the play. His devious nature raises the question of whether or not he is a sociopath. Sociopathy is a mental disorder in which an individual s moral depravity poses a threat to society. The Psychopathy Checklist, commonly known as the PCL, constructed a list of criteria used to diagnose sociopaths. These criteria vary from irresponsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The PCL refers to sociopaths as having superficial charm and glibness , both of which Iago possesses. When asked by Othello to recap the events of the quarrel, Iago says I had rather have this tongue cut from my mouth/ Then it should do offence to Michael Cassio (2.3.205 206). In saying so, Iago comes off to Othello as both honest and loyal, most definitely charming him and covering up the fact that it was Iago himself who intentionally set up the quarrel in order to become lieutenant. In document A, conning others for personal profit or pleasure is said to be usual of sociopaths. This is easily applicable to Iago s character, who for the sake of becoming lieutenant and destroying Othello, manages to deceive several characters in the play and ends up being the cause of Roderigo, Desdemona, Emilia and Othello s deaths. Once again, placing Iago and Ani Korban side by side affirms Iago s sociopathy. Ani Korban praises his psychiatrist by referring to him/her as one of the most astute and erudite persons he has ever met . Nikolai Gogol, like Fo had a hidden motive behind the changing identity of Khlestakov. He has created the character of Khlestakov to fulfill the purpose of exposing the corrupt nature of local administration. As, the officials thought he was the government inspector they tried to bribe him and the audience was made aware of their deceitful nature. He talks to himself as well as non living objects around him. His dialogues are blunt and clearly reflect his insanity. Macbeth, his wife, and the three Weird Sisters are linked in their mutual refusal to come out and say things directly. Instead, they rely on implications, riddles, and ambiguity to evade the truth. Macbeth s ability to manipulate his language and his public image to hide his foul crimes makes him a very modern seeming politician. As Bernard McElroy says in his literary criticism about Macbeth, When confronted with the possibility of committing a daring through criminal act, he willfully deceives himself for a short time and embraces an opposite view of the world...in the aftermath he s committed to a world view he does not believe. Lady Macbeth mimics this language when she directs her husband to look like an innocent flower in oder to hide the serpent that truly lurks in his heart(I.v.76 78). The Macbeths know how to use imagery and appearance to conceal the truth, and sometimes they even use those skills on themselves. Macbeth asks the stars, Hide your fires/ Let not light see my black and deep desires/ The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be/ which the eye fears, when it is done, to see, so that his eye cannot see what his hand does(I.iv.57 60). Similarly, Lady Macbeth asks the night, Come, thick night/ And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell/ That my keen knife see not the wound it makes, so that her knife cannot see itself slash its victim(I.v.57 59). The Macbeths know that their acts are wicked, so they try to hide the knowledge of their deeds from their own consciousness. Again Bernard McElroy states Macbeth s crime, Destroys his capacity to respect or even tolerate himself...his own hands are unrecognizable to him, savage, hangman s hands that would pluck out his eyes. But, in fact, they do not obliterate his vision; he must continue staring at them, and in time he loses his mind from the guilt. • 54. The United States Public Education System Essay Most Americans believe that the United States public education system is largely based on the principles of work ethic and equal opportunity. We are taught that a strong work ethic is important in achieving good grades, and that these grades are crucial to attending elite universities and earning scholarships. The aforementioned features are key components of the dominant American ideology; a way of seeing that feels natural and inevitable. Although major institutions such as schools legitimize a societal reward system based on merit and hard work, also known as a meritocracy, the U.S. public education system evidently contains tremendous inequality, much of which is maintained and produced through the institution itself. Furthermore, structural factors such as cumulative advantage, which explains how those who are successful gain additional success, offer an explanation for the inequalities in the school system that manifest unexpectedly and cannot be solved by money. Through the legitimation of the dominant American ideology and the process of cumulative advantage, the U.S. public education system perpetuates social inequality within the classroom and provides additional power to those already born with better life chances. In social theory, there exists a long standing debate over whether structure or agency is central in shaping human behavior.
