Animal Soldiers
Do you give [a] horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane? Do you make him leap like
a locust, striking terror with his proud snorting? He pauses fiercely, rejoicing in his strength and
charges into the fray. He laughs at fear, afraid of nothing, he does not shy away from the sword. The
quiver rattles against his side, along with the flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement he eats
up the ground. He cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds (Chenery 1).
Over many years the role of animals has gone unnoticed. Throughout the stories of war we have
learned of the miraculous things soldiers have done, but nothing was mentioned about ... Show more

Dogs were one of the greatest alliances the U.S has joined with and this alliance would continue to
grow and improve war efforts.
In World War II dogs were being used more than ever. Forces began using dogs as defense in hand to
hand combat. Cable laying dogs had sizable spools of telephone cable hitched to their backs. They d
head out into the field so that soldiers on the front lines would be able to communicate with troops
back at base camps or other central command units (Rogak 52) Horses and camels may have vanished
during World War II because of the mass expansion of technology, but dogs still remained. Patrolling
with dogs lessened the danger of ambush and tended to boost the morale of soldiers.
Just like humans had recruitments animals also had to be recruited. Dogs had to have no health
problems or diseases, and had to be around eighteen to thirty six years old. The dogs must be alert,
active, outgoing, and socializing towards people. The also had to have normal mobility at walking and
running speeds. The coat had to be clean with no matted fur and they had to have normal dental
hygiene with all four K 9 teeth present. The dogs could not be over aggressive do to risk of injury
towards handlers and other dogs (Rogak 30).
Over the years stories have been shared about animal heroes. Stubby, was a short bulldog that served
in World War I and was in more than seventeen battles. He was the first dog to

The Culture Of American College
Cultures vary tremendously throughout the world and within many of these cultures are sub cultures
that do not necessarily operate under the same standards for example, the culture of American college
students. Subcultures, according to Clark and Trow, represent clusters of attitudes, norms, and models
of behaviors rather than groups of people (Warren, 1968). It is hard for someone to not have any
ethnocentric bias to a culture they have not yet been part of or witnessed first hand. Transitioning from
the subculture I have grown up in my entire life, to the American college culture was a huge change.
Before attending college I did not have a strong ethnocentric bias to the college culture because I had
already known people who had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to attending WSU, I did not give much merit to the information that I received about what
college would be like unless I was being told by someone who had reliable first hand experience and
especially so if they do or had attended WSU themselves. I would always hear people saying that
WSU is a party school, and I think that is due to the fact that WSU has a lower GPA requirements than
some schools and people assume it is full of the people who were not accepted into UW. Although that
is the case for many students here, I know a great deal of students who attend WSU and were also
accepted by UW and other schools as well.
The state of Washington has its own subculture of the United States, and within the state of
Washington there are many different subcultures, both big and small (Lieske, 1993). Once you go
from eastern Washington to western Washington there is a massive change in the subculture of the
people. The culture of western Washington is more liberal than in eastern Washington where people on
average are more conservative (Lieske, 1993). As well as political views and other factors, there is a
huge separation between supporters of UW and WSU. Living on the western side of Washington I did
not know that the WSU culture and pride was so strong out here. I had thought that everyone prefers
UW because it is considered a better school and located in Seattle, but one I arrived out here I was
shocked by the pride that Cougs have. I had no

The Return to Charleston
John Laurens had finally returned to the safety of South Carolina and joined with General Nathanael
Greene by helping to create and operate a network or even a group of spies that could track lots of
British operations in and also around the Charleston area. He had learned in August 1782, of British
forces moving in to gather up some supplies,he then decided to leave his post and then go to join the
others in an act to try and stop or to also intercept the british forces.

The Cardiovascular Surgeon Steps Of Cardiothoracic Surgeon
The heart beats about 1000,000 times every day sending 2,000 gallons of blood thought your body.
The hearts job is keeping blood flowing through 60,000 miles of blood vessels that feed organs and
tissues. The cardiac muscle is the tissues that make up your heart. The heart sends blood around your
body. When there is a problem with your heart and it can t pump blood it is critical for it to be fixed.
This is when the cardiovascular surgeon steps in.
Cardiothoracic surgeon, also known as heart surgeon or cardiac surgeon or cardiovascular surgeon, is
a healthcare professional who specializes in the diagnosis, surgical treatment and medical
management of the patients with heart and lung diseases. Cardiothoracic surgeons are responsible for

John Lewis that attended University of Minnesota on September 2, 1952. The following year, Soviet
surgeon Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Vishnevskiy conducted the first cardiac surgery under local
anesthesia. This surgery is during which the heart is exposed and the blood made to bypass it.
The earliest operations on the pericardium (the sac that surrounds the heart) took place in the 19th
century and was performed by Francisco Romero (1801). The first surgery on the heart itself was
performed by Norwegian surgeon Axel Cappelen on the 4th of September 1895 at. He ligated a
bleeding coronary artery in a 24 year old man who had been stabbed in the left axillae and was in deep
shock upon arrival. Access was through a left thoracotomy. The patient awoke and seemed fine for 24
hours, but became ill with increasing temperature and he ultimately died. The first successful surgery
of the heart, performed without any complications, was by Ludwig Rehn of Frankfurt, Germany, who
repaired a stab wound to the right ventricle on September 7, 1896.
Cardiac surgery training in the United States is combined with and called cardiothoracic surgery. A
cardiothoracic surgeon in the U.S. is a physician D.O or M.D who first completes a general surgery
residency (typically 5 7 years), followed by a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship (typically 2 3 years).
The cardiothoracic surgery fellowship typically two or three years, but certification is based on the

Date Effect of Climatic Change on the Cryosphere
Introduction
The tale of the human race and our connection to the ecosystem can be viewed as an unfolding
adventure shrouded in mysterious occurrences. The impacts of the overall climatic change have
signaled danger for a long time, and it is clear that there is a global crisis facing us. One would wonder
where we are headed and if the earth will be able to sustain life in the next century. Global warming
continues to manifest itself to us every day through rapid changes occurring to the climate system.
Some of us still hide from reality and hold on to the notion that climate change is just, but another

When carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses are released into the atmosphere, they become too
excessive for all the vegetation to absorb. Such conditions lead to the over accumulation of gasses that
form a layer called a greenhouse. The gasses create a greenhouse effect that prevents any heat from
escaping the earth (Taylor,881). This means that most of the heat being released from the earth s
center as well as that being absorbed from the sun is retained within the atmosphere. The trapped heat
has over time led to the rise in global temperatures which has subsequently had adverse effects on the
ecosystem. In essence, the small changes to a temperature that have occurred on a global scale over
time can lead to significant and human threatening changes in the global weather patterns. The
contemporary warmth has been exhibited by melting ice lands and glaciers as well as increased floods
and famines. Driving forces of this climatic change Scientists attribute a huge percentage of the gas
accumulation to the human activities using fossil fuels and whose operation leads to the release of
significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses into the air. The rate of temperature rise
since the industrial revolution shows a significant change of 38% due to the constant emission of toxic
gasses from human activity (Lonnie, 153).

Wealth In The Gilded Age During The Gilded Age
During the Gilded Age some people were becoming very wealthy and everyone had an opinion on
what they should do with this wealth, also who they should help with this money, and how much
money they should give. This new wealth was not expected and along with it came opinions and
judgment of all economic classes. The opinions range from Social Darwinism, which William Graham
Sumner believed in, to Andrew Carnegie s Gospel of Wealth and to Walter Rauschenbusch s The
Social Gospel. William Graham Sumner was a firm believer in Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism
is the belief in survival of the fittest, so the strongest in society are the ones who become wealthy.
With this wealth Sumner believed that the wealthy should use it to support the other classes to give
them opportunity to become wealthy themselves. According to Sumner If you get wealth, you will
have to support the other people; if you do not get wealth, it will be the duty of other people to support
you. (Sumner) In this quote Sumner is saying that no matter who the wealthy people are they will have
to support the lower class and give them the chance to become wealthy. Through his ideas of social
darwinism he believes that everyone should be given an equal opportunity to become wealthy and
then the strongest in society will become wealthy. He does not believe that the wealth should stay in
the already wealthy families because not every person in the family will be the strongest in society.
Along with this he says We

Effects Of Lower Oil Prices On Canada s Economic Activity
Literature Review
Effects of Lower Oil Prices on Canada s Economic Activity
Consumer Price Index
Falling oil prices leads to a fall in the price of gasoline which is derived from oil. Subsequently,
consumption of gasoline rises as Canadians benefit from lower oil prices. In fact, The Conference
Board of Canada (Bernard 2015)estimates that the average household would save close to $1000 in
2015. This has a direct impact on the Canadian total CPI basket in which gasoline account for about
5% of total CPI (Bartlett 2014).
# (Bernard 2015) Although lower gasoline and consumer prices should help lift purchasing power and
sustain real household spending, it likely won t be enough to counter the trend of easing growth in
household spending in Canada. Soft employment growth, weak wage gains, the high level of
household debt, easing real estate markets, and the threat of job losses in oil rich provinces will
combine to take some of the steam out of real consumer spending in 2015 even as overall inflation
falls to just 1.2 per cent.
Terms of Trade (ratio of export prices to import prices) The value of the Canadian dollar tends to
moves in tandem with oil prices so as oil prices have been falling recently, so has the value of the
Canadian dollar. A depreciation of the Canadian dollar makes Canadian exports relatively more
competitive in the world market however, as Canadian exports become cheaper relative to its imports,
this negatively affects the Canadian terms of trade. This

Worldviews Of The Self In The Golden Ass By Apuleius
Throughout this course, we have explored both ancient and contemporary worldviews that have
helped us answer the question: What is the Self ? Apuleius had a very different approach to formulate
an answer to this question then did other contemporary authors which will both be discussed in length.
To begin, Apuleius wrote a novel, The Golden Ass, which demonstrates Roman worldviews of the
self. In the book, he explains a perspective about what makes the self: experience and transformations.
Lucius, the protagonist, goes through many different changes that really shaped his character by the
end of the novel. He underwent multipart transformations that are physical, personality wise, his social
class, his beliefs, and his interests. At the beginning of The Golden Ass, Lucius internal and external
selves do not correlate. Only through his experiences and numerous transformations is he truly able to
be himself because both his internal and external selves match. This worldview is especially present in
ancient Rome because of all the wars this great city took part in that physically transformed Rome s
territory and its citizens. These experiences made Roman men physically strong, wise, powerful and
meant that they were good at warfare since they were able to conquer so many different places like
Carthage, Italy, and Greece. The men that took part in these wars came back as different people after
they had experienced war and all its casualties. There are many implications of

Picking out the right mens jeans can be a tough job. So many choices are available, how do you
choose between skinny, straight, slim or relaxed? Here are some guideline to help you narrow your
choices to a manageable level.
How do you know if mens jeans will fit correctly?
Start by getting the exact measurements of your inseam, waist, bottoms size, hips, thighs and rise.
Get a friend to assist with the measuring process, if possible.
How do you measure the inseam and bottoms?
Measure the inner length of your leg by running measuring tape from the point where your inner thigh
meets your crotch down to the bottom of your ankle.
A second method is to take a pair of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your waist is the where your side creases if you lean to one side. It is usually near your belly button.
The tape measurer should wrap loosely around the point of your waist while you hold one finger
between the tape and waist for a comfortable fit.
Measure your hips by wrapping the tape measurer around your hips and the middle of your buttocks.
How do you measure the rise and thigh size?
Rise is the measured from the middle of the crotch seam to the top of the waistband. It typically
ranges from 7 to 12 inches.
Wrap the measuring tape around the meatiest portion of your thigh to determine size.
What is the difference between skinny and slim pants?
Slim fit jean designs hug your hips and thighs. Thigh openings are slim and narrower than other fits,
and they have the least fabric in the rear panels. Mens slim fit clothing draws the focus to the rear end
and thigh areas.
Skinny jeans cling like a second skin, especially around the thighs, knees, and calves of the leg.
Skinny pants have a tighter overall fit than slim fit pants. Mens skinny jeans are nearly always made
with denim material that includes Lycra, so check instructions before you wash them. Skinny jeans
also taper at the ankle for an opening usually ranging from 14 to 16

The Debate Between Pro Life And Pro Choice
With recent developments in Northern Irish legislation for on demand abortions , the debate between
pro life and pro choice has been thrown back into the media and the morality of abortion scrutinized
under the eye of third wave feminism, which has reclaimed the 1970 s slogan of The Right to Choose .
The following essay intends to discuss how abortion is always an option and never a morally wrong
act, as it is the mother s choice to do with her body what she wishes and such the fetus has no right to
leech off the mother when the host is not willing. In this discussion one shall, as Thomson did in A
Defence of Abortion (1971), accept the stance that a fetus is a person from conception, to avoid that
issue all together.
Autonomy is one of the main arguments presented by pro choice advocated, with the most extreme
form arguing that a woman has complete right over her own liberty and so should be allowed to
terminate her pregnancy whenever she wishes for whatever reason she wishes.
This obviously becomes an issue when the argument of trivial justification is discussed, such as in the
recent case of Josie Cunningham who had an abortion to have a nose job after she found out it was not
possible to go under general anesthetic while pregnant (Nagesh, 2015). This is a case where for some
it becomes hard to argue that this is a morally okay action, especially if it assumed that she killed a
person for aesthetic reasons. However, some may still argue that as a rational human she

Weaknesses
1. The management of Deutsche Bank can not get along with the management of Dresdner Bank

Violent Video Games Essay
The Case for Violent Video Games Video Games have been a source of fun and enjoyment for many
people, whether they are kids or adults. Violent video games are the most popular types of video
games. Many young gamers are quite obsessed over these games. Recently violent video games
(VVGs) have been accused of being the source to many mass shootings in the world, accused of
corrupting the minds of young gamers. This is wrong. Violent Behavior in Video Games Violent video
games are blamed for being linked to levels of aggression. Many people believe VVGs raise levels of
aggression; however, studies show that belief is false. Although VVGs have violent content, it does
not coincide with the levels of aggression being increased. Ratings for VVGs have regressed from
their original state of maturity, meaning younger kids can play these games. If young children are
approved to play VVGs then there must be reasons. Adults want their children to be social and make
friends and video games can help them do that. According to Jack Hollingdale, playing cooperative
team player video games increases empathy and decreases aggression (Hollingdale, 2014). Aggression
levels are not the only factors thought to be linked to VVGs, hostility levels are another topic for
arguing. To help prove that video games do not make young gamers want to hurt others a study was
done. This study consisted of 43 young adults from ages 12 18, most of the youth were Caucasian
American males. The

Anastrazole stops the multiplication and increasing of estrogen dependence of the mammary glands

Gynecomastia (bitch tit) associated with the use of testosterone and androgens. It can be used in place
of Nolvadex ,Clomid, etc. Bodybuilders are using around .25mg to 1mg per day or .5mg to 1mg every

Anastrozole (Arimidex) is the aromatase inhibitor of choice. The drug is appropriately used when
using substantial amounts of aromatizing steroids, or when one is prone to gynecomastia and using
moderate amounts of such steroids. Arimidex does not have the side effects of aminoglutethimide
(Cytadren) and can achieve a high degree of estrogen blockade, much moreso than Cytadren. It is
possible to reduce estrogen too much with Arimidex, and for this reason blood tests, or less preferably
salivary tests, should be taken after the first week of use to determine if the dosing is correct. As an
aromatase inhibitor, Arimidex s mechanism of action blocking conversion of aromatizable steroids to
estrogen is in contrast to the mechanism of action of anti estrogens such as clomiphene (Clomid) or
tamoxifen (Nolvadex), which block estrogen receptors in some tissues, and activate estrogen receptors
in others. During a cycle, if using Arimidex, there is generally no need to use Clomid as well,

EORY AND THERAPY OF ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY
The biological model is most important in function of the human system. In psychotherapy, if we have
deficits with our biology, then we fix the deficient, inhibit the unwanted response or excite the wanted
response. As William DeMeyer, MD relates, all human behavior consists of secreting substances or
changing the length of muscle fibers.
Whatever the behavior, it originates from nerve impulses traveling through neural circuits.
Therefore, all behaviors and all thoughts depend on neuroanotomic circuits.
Through functional examination and testing, we have a very high probability to pinpoint where the
deficit is. Functional examinations consist of many types of testing to specify where a

Effects of Social Darwinism Essay
Introduction
The Effects of Social Darwinism on the social trends of the 19th century.
As a world view, Darwinism cannot of course be refuted, since Faith is, always has been, and always
will be, stronger than facts. Francis P. Yockey
Social Darwinism is a theory that competition among all individuals, groups, nations or ideas drives
social evolution in human societies. The term draws upon Charles Darwin s theory of natural
selection, where competition between individual organisms drives biological evolutionary change
through the survival of the fittest. The term was popularized in 1944 by the American historian
Richard Hofstadter, and has generally been used by critics rather than advocates of what the term is

The first advocate of the social Darwinism theory had a major impact on the American society as a
whole, starting from economic bases, to the big business minds of the time. In the United States,
Spencer gained considerable support among intellectuals and some businessmen, including steel
manufacturer Andrew Carnegie, who served as Spencer s host during his visit to the United States in
1883. The most prominent American social Darwinist of the 1880s was William Graham Sumner, who

Critics of social Darwinism seized on these comments to argue that Sumner advocated a dog eat dog

Preventing Theft Is Just The Tip Of The Iceberg
Data Privacy Preventing Theft is Just the Tip of the Iceberg.
Many people have started to become aware of the issues of data security and identity theft, but what
they should really be worried about is the way data is used legally. The following talks about data
gathering and gives 5 examples of how this data can be used for, or against you. Although the
examples are local in nature, they are being replicated on a global scale. If you live in the modern
world, then you will eventually be impacted.

when going through layoffs or restructuring. Employers who are found guilty by the commission shall

The Alamo Movie Analysis
The Alamo is a 2004 American war film about the Battle of the Alamo amid the Texas Revolution; it
is a motion picture that catches the dejection and fear of men sitting tight for two weeks for what they
hope to be sure passing, and it some way or another succeeds in taking those popular society brand
names like Davy Crockett and James Bowie and giving them human structure. The film was
coordinated by Texan John Lee Hancock, delivered by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Mark Johnson,
dispersed by Touchstone Pictures, and featuring Dennis Quaid as Sam Houston, Billy Bob Thornton as
Davy Crockett, and Jason Patric as James Bowie. The film relates to history, the Alamo looks exact,
and, in reality, we find that San Antonio de Béxar was deliberately re made with small saving of cost.
In any case, a feeling of the way the occasions at the Alamo are joined with the national story of
slavery, development, and the evacuation of Native American from the eastern United States in the
1830s and 1840s is missing. On the off chance that we incorporate this bigger story, we can maybe
figure out the more extensive point of view that at first created enthusiasm for the venture. Texas

Boy At The Window By Richard Wilbur
Snowmen: More Man than Snow
We are all just snowmen, fragile, emotional, melting into tears, even if no other human being sees us
that way. In the poem Boy at the Window by Richard Wilbur, a young, innocent boy is described
feeling the pain of a snowman about to feel the effects of a winter storm. The different points of view
as well as the speaker s poetic style, which allows for connotation, impacts the story to make it the
quality two stanzas that it is. The speaker s use of two viewpoints is one element of the speaker s style
that impacts the poem. It assists the reader in reading the story from the perspective of the characters,
and let us know their emotions and inner thoughts. This makes for a much more interesting story than
if the story was written from the outsider s perspective. The boy and the snowman s points of view are
not the same, but similar. The boy is in a state of despair after learning that the snowman might be
destroyed by a blizzard, not realizing that the snowman can withstand it because he is also made of
snow. The snowman is content to ride out the blizzard, but sheds an icy tear, moved by the heavy
emotions of the boy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Please use at least two (2) moral terms and support your position with at least two (2) outside

rural community HCOs. The nation s nearly 2,000 rural community hospitals2 frequently serve as an
anchor for their region s health related services (aha 1). All HCOs are striving to provide patients,
quality, cost effective, easy care. However, small rural communities are often limited in funding thus
scarce allocation of resources. Therefore rural hospitals low patient volumes make it difficult for these
organizations to manage the high fixed costs associated with operating a hospital (aha 1). Thus, rural
HCOs are not afforded an ethics committee to resolve conflicts for healthcare providers and
administrators when an ethical conflict arises. Per William Nelson Ph.D., 50 percent of small rural
hospitals have ethics committees or programs for providing ethics services (243). The rural hospital
ethics committee that does exist is usually non traditional. Given that small rural HCOs have their
peculiar set of circumstances their ethic committee obstacles are unique to five causes.

The Portrayal of the Powerful in Thomas Mofolo’s novel Chaka
According to the English author and philosopher, Edmund Burke, The greater the power, the more
dangerous the abuse. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is
often a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by
your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. Power can be expressed
through controlling others, but it can also be expressed by disabling others from controlling you by
rebelling. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the determination to stop others from controlling you.
In Chaka, Thomas Mofolo distinguishes between the powerful and powerless by making the powerful
easier to relate to than the powerless, while also showing how very few of the powerless were able to
acquire power. The powerless and the powerful have two very distinct roles in this novel. The
powerful are given more of a backstory so that we, as readers, can be able to relate and see the
humanistic side of the powerful, since a majority of them gravely misuse their power. The powerless,
however, are portrayed just as they are: powerless. They are the pawns used to each person of power s
advantage and are not given as much of a backstory, unless their story is relevant to a person in power.
For example, Nandi, being the illegitimate mistress of Senzangakhona and mother of Chaka,
originally had no power. However, we know of Nandi s background because it is relevant to the
upbringing of Chaka

Attachment is the emotional relationship between the child and the caregiver. Attachment is important
for several reasons. A child that has a good emotional bond with their parent is more likely to have
better copping skills with negative emotions in stressful moments; they are more independent and
more confident to go out in the world and explore their options. There s two particular theory of
attachment id agree with which would have to be Bowlby and Harlow theory. Attachment I believe
comes from early age and it s based on how the caregiver takes care of their child and the emotional
connection they share with their child. Harlow s theory states that babies are more attached to theirs
mothers for the simple reason it s the parent that feeds them and shows protection, once they find that
in a parent they become more in order to survive.
There are different styles of attachments for example secure, insecure, avoidant, and anxious
ambivalent. Secure attachment is when a child its upset when their caregiver leaves but once the
caregiver returns they are able calm down. This shows how they feel secure enough that they can
count on the parent to come back. Another type of attachment is insecure attachment is when the child
shows no emotions towards their caregiver and they don t really care whether their caregiver comes
back or not. Which for a baby it s not a good sign, this style of attachment

I Am A White, Natural Born Citizen Of The United States
Ethnic Heritage Term Paper I am a white, natural born citizen of the United States, but my family is
made up of a mix of immigrants. My paternal grandmother immigrated to the United States from Sao
Miguel, Portugal. My paternal grandfather s ancestors immigrated from England and Scotland to
Canada. Some of my mother s paternal ancestors immigrated from Spain to France before immigrating
to Canada, and others were Aboriginal Canadians. Three out of my four grandparents have roots in
Quebec, Canada. French Canadian is not a nationality that I identify with, but it is the culture that has
impacted my life the most, outside of American culture.
Out of my six Quebecois great grandparents only my maternal great grandmother is known to be of an
aboriginal background. All of my other great grandparents immigrated to or colonized Canada. There
is little known about my great grandmother s history, except that she moved to North Adams,
Massachusetts from Quebec and married my great grandfather in her early teens.
The first nations of Canada, prior to the landing of Europeans, were divided into six major
geographical groups. My great grandmother s ancestors most likely belonged to the Iroquoian first
nations. The Iroquois people were not nomadic and had a complex system of democratic government.
They are known for the impressive construction of longhouses and their system of farming corn,
beans, and squash. Running was the most popular form of transportation to the Iroquois people

Comparing Plato s Republic And Aeneid
The model society is one that opens its arms to everyone and values unity and equality among its
members. Unlike the societies depicted in Plato s Republic and Virgil s Aeneid, which favor the values
of wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice, the model society aligns itself with the values of
forgiveness, kindness, attentiveness, and innocence. These values are extolled in the Gospel of Luke,
The Acts of Paul and Thecla, and The Martyrdom of Perpetua and Felicitas. As with the Kingdom of
God, the model human society overcomes alienation and separation of peoples by putting an emphasis
on welcoming and forgiving everyone including the weak and the lost and showing kindness to all. In
the Parable of the Good Samaritan, kindness is highlighted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Plato s Republic, this is especially true, as Plato writes of Socrates s claim that only philosophers
are fit to lead the society because they are superior in knowledge and virtue. As Glaucon explains, It
would be absurd to choose anyone but philosophers [...] For the very area in which they are superior
[knowledge and virtue] is just about the greatest one (Republic 6.7 9). This system that Plato outlines
is based on the virtues of wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice. Proponents of Plato s Republic
would not favor the model society because they would see it as weak, unstructured, and ungovernable.
In their minds wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice are necessary for a society to succeed,
whereas forgiveness, kindness, and attentiveness to others are illogical. They would argue that if
everyone is equal, there would be no one to lead or teach the rest of society. Although this idea for a
society was developed by a highly credited philosopher, it is flawed because it devalues unity among
its members. If a society holds some of its members in higher regard than others, it diminishes the
value of welcoming all peoples and allowing them to come together as one unified body, because it
now sets its basis on the preferential treatment of some over others. Despite the positive virtues that
the Republic presents, it is an exclusionary society, as it bans and marginalizes its members for being
different or lesser than the

Nature Vs. Nurture Argumentative Analysis
Nature versus Nurture debate
Nature versus nurture is controversial debate that has been ongoing for several years about whether
behaviors are caused by inherited traits or are they influenced by the environment. When Genie the
wild child was found, she represented a tabula rasa blank state of learning due to the limited basic
skills she had, and incapability to speak. Hence, psychologists examined the nature versus nurture
argument through Genie. The early stages of growth are fundamentally crucial for children because
they need human contact, affection, and interaction to fully develop a sense of self and be fully
integrated into society. The absence of proper socialization during those critical periods caused Genie
to develop differently than the rest.
Genie was a victim of severe abuse and neglect by her father, Clark Wiley, she was discovered at the
age of 13 in her family s home, she was strapped down to her potty chair and isolated in a dark
bedroom for the first years of her life (McMahan, 2014). Genie walked in an inhuman way, she couldn

children at this stage will learn to read, write, and to do sums (McLeod, 2008). If this stage is not

It will be important for them to realize how every task they complete connects to the goals or the
business plan so there is a sense of value and something at stake. Directing will not end at this stage or
even after the business is open, it will continue to be a necessary component that I must actively keep
up with in order for this sporting goods store to succeed.
Controlling goes hand in hand with directing as it will be important for me as a manager and owner to
match the tasks delegated with the business plan and goals so that I can keep firm tabs on how we are
progressing. This not only involves monitoring of progress but being vigilant so that if negative
changes are occurring I can resolve the issue. As Richman (2006) more succinctly puts it, when it
comes to controlling, in project management terms, it involves determining variances from the
approved plan, then taking action to correct those variances.
Through my fulfilling of these four important functions of management, I would be a permissive

What they find is that many people have a budget for entertainment and therefore money spent at a
sporting event is money that would otherwise have been spent at some other entertainment outlet in

all stadium development proposals. In Oakland the situation is no different. While many Oakland A s

Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet
It is very common for human to confuse infatuation with true love. According to the Triangular
Theory of Love by Robert J. Sternberg love is composed of three main parts. These parts are intimacy,
passion, and commitment. Intimacy is distinguished by concern, understanding, and closeness
between two partners. Intimacy usually takes a long time to build up and is something that can t be
generated in a few days. Passion is portrayed as the desire to be with one s partner. Passion tends to
build up quickly but vanishes rapidly as well. Finally commitment is described as the willingness to
endure a long lasting relationship. With these three parts can true love only be formed. Infatuation
usually consists of passion alone. In the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet the main ... Show more content

Passion is the fierce inclination to be in someone s presence. Having passion is similar to an addiction.
In a beginning of a relationship there is a high level of passion but fades as time progresses.
Eventually the high of the relationship becomes less and less rewarding. This passion can be seen the
when Romeo has to leave Juliet after concealing the marriage. At first Romeo tries to leave as quickly
as possible. He says I must be gone and live, or stay and die (3.5.11). However since Romeo has so
much passion for Juliet he is convinced by Juliet stay even though he would be killed by the Capulet s
kinsman. He says Come, death, and welcome! Juliet wills it so./ How is t, my soul? Let s talk. It is not
day (3.3.24 25). Another example of the passion both Romeo and Juliet share is when they both are
able to overcome the feud between the Capulet and Montague households. This feud between the
Capulet and Montague household has been going on for generations but because Romeo and Juliet has
so much passion for each other they are able to overlook the fact that they are from rivalling

  • 2. Animals In War Julia Foster Mr. Kinney American Culture Honors 14 March 2014 Animal Soldiers Do you give [a] horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane? Do you make him leap like a locust, striking terror with his proud snorting? He pauses fiercely, rejoicing in his strength and charges into the fray. He laughs at fear, afraid of nothing, he does not shy away from the sword. The quiver rattles against his side, along with the flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement he eats up the ground. He cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds (Chenery 1). Over many years the role of animals has gone unnoticed. Dogs were one of the greatest alliances the U.S has joined with and this alliance would continue to grow and improve war efforts. In World War II dogs were being used more than ever. Forces began using dogs as defense in hand to hand combat. Cable laying dogs had sizable spools of telephone cable hitched to their backs. They d head out into the field so that soldiers on the front lines would be able to communicate with troops back at base camps or other central command units (Rogak 52) Horses and camels may have vanished during World War II because of the mass expansion of technology, but dogs still remained. Patrolling with dogs lessened the danger of ambush and tended to boost the morale of soldiers. Just like humans had recruitments animals also had to be recruited. Dogs had to have no health problems or diseases, and had to be around eighteen to thirty six years old. The dogs must be alert, active, outgoing, and socializing towards people. The also had to have normal mobility at walking and running speeds. The coat had to be clean with no matted fur and they had to have normal dental hygiene with all four K 9 teeth present. The dogs could not be over aggressive do to risk of injury towards handlers and other dogs (Rogak 30). Over the years stories have been shared about animal heroes. • 3. The Culture Of American College Cultures vary tremendously throughout the world and within many of these cultures are sub cultures that do not necessarily operate under the same standards for example, the culture of American college students. Subcultures, according to Clark and Trow, represent clusters of attitudes, norms, and models of behaviors rather than groups of people (Warren, 1968). It is hard for someone to not have any ethnocentric bias to a culture they have not yet been part of or witnessed first hand. Prior to attending WSU, I did not give much merit to the information that I received about what college would be like unless I was being told by someone who had reliable first hand experience and especially so if they do or had attended WSU themselves. I would always hear people saying that WSU is a party school, and I think that is due to the fact that WSU has a lower GPA requirements than some schools and people assume it is full of the people who were not accepted into UW. Although that is the case for many students here, I know a great deal of students who attend WSU and were also accepted by UW and other schools as well. The state of Washington has its own subculture of the United States, and within the state of Washington there are many different subcultures, both big and small (Lieske, 1993). Once you go from eastern Washington to western Washington there is a massive change in the subculture of the people. The culture of western Washington is more liberal than in eastern Washington where people on average are more conservative (Lieske, 1993). As well as political views and other factors, there is a huge separation between supporters of UW and WSU. Living on the western side of Washington I did not know that the WSU culture and pride was so strong out here. I had thought that everyone prefers UW because it is considered a better school and located in Seattle, but one I arrived out here I was shocked by the pride that Cougs have. I had no ... One would wonder where we are headed and if the earth will be able to sustain life in the next century. When carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses are released into the atmosphere, they become too excessive for all the vegetation to absorb. Such conditions lead to the over accumulation of gasses that form a layer called a greenhouse. The gasses create a greenhouse effect that prevents any heat from escaping the earth (Taylor,881). This means that most of the heat being released from the earth s center as well as that being absorbed from the sun is retained within the atmosphere. The trapped heat has over time led to the rise in global temperatures which has subsequently had adverse effects on the ecosystem. In essence, the small changes to a temperature that have occurred on a global scale over time can lead to significant and human threatening changes in the global weather patterns. The contemporary warmth has been exhibited by melting ice lands and glaciers as well as increased floods and famines. Driving forces of this climatic change Scientists attribute a huge percentage of the gas accumulation to the human activities using fossil fuels and whose operation leads to the release of significant amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses into the air. The rate of temperature rise since the industrial revolution shows a significant change of 38% due to the constant emission of toxic gasses from human activity (Lonnie, 153). ... • 7. Wealth In The Gilded Age During The Gilded Age During the Gilded Age some people were becoming very wealthy and everyone had an opinion on what they should do with this wealth, also who they should help with this money, and how much money they should give. This new wealth was not expected and along with it came opinions and judgment of all economic classes. The opinions range from Social Darwinism, which William Graham Sumner believed in, to Andrew Carnegie s Gospel of Wealth and to Walter Rauschenbusch s The Social Gospel. William Graham Sumner was a firm believer in Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is the belief in survival of the fittest, so the strongest in society are the ones who become wealthy. With this wealth Sumner believed that the wealthy should use it to support the other classes to give them opportunity to become wealthy themselves. According to Sumner If you get wealth, you will have to support the other people; if you do not get wealth, it will be the duty of other people to support you. (Sumner) In this quote Sumner is saying that no matter who the wealthy people are they will have to support the lower class and give them the chance to become wealthy. Through his ideas of social darwinism he believes that everyone should be given an equal opportunity to become wealthy and then the strongest in society will become wealthy. He does not believe that the wealth should stay in the already wealthy families because not every person in the family will be the strongest in society. Along with this he says We ... • 8. Effects Of Lower Oil Prices On Canada s Economic Activity Literature Review Effects of Lower Oil Prices on Canada s Economic Activity Consumer Price Index Falling oil prices leads to a fall in the price of gasoline which is derived from oil. Subsequently, consumption of gasoline rises as Canadians benefit from lower oil prices. In fact, The Conference Board of Canada (Bernard 2015)estimates that the average household would save close to $1000 in 2015. This has a direct impact on the Canadian total CPI basket in which gasoline account for about 5% of total CPI (Bartlett 2014). # (Bernard 2015) Although lower gasoline and consumer prices should help lift purchasing power and sustain real household spending, it likely won t be enough to counter the trend of easing growth in household spending in Canada. Soft employment growth, weak wage gains, the high level of household debt, easing real estate markets, and the threat of job losses in oil rich provinces will combine to take some of the steam out of real consumer spending in 2015 even as overall inflation falls to just 1.2 per cent. Terms of Trade (ratio of export prices to import prices) The value of the Canadian dollar tends to moves in tandem with oil prices so as oil prices have been falling recently, so has the value of the Canadian dollar. A depreciation of the Canadian dollar makes Canadian exports relatively more competitive in the world market however, as Canadian exports become cheaper relative to its imports, this negatively affects the Canadian terms of trade. • 9. Worldviews Of The Self In The Golden Ass By Apuleius Throughout this course, we have explored both ancient and contemporary worldviews that have helped us answer the question: What is the Self ? Apuleius had a very different approach to formulate an answer to this question then did other contemporary authors which will both be discussed in length. To begin, Apuleius wrote a novel, The Golden Ass, which demonstrates Roman worldviews of the self. In the book, he explains a perspective about what makes the self: experience and transformations. Lucius, the protagonist, goes through many different changes that really shaped his character by the end of the novel. He underwent multipart transformations that are physical, personality wise, his social class, his beliefs, and his interests. At the beginning of The Golden Ass, Lucius internal and external selves do not correlate. Only through his experiences and numerous transformations is he truly able to be himself because both his internal and external selves match. This worldview is especially present in ancient Rome because of all the wars this great city took part in that physically transformed Rome s territory and its citizens. These experiences made Roman men physically strong, wise, powerful and meant that they were good at warfare since they were able to conquer so many different places like Carthage, Italy, and Greece. The men that took part in these wars came back as different people after they had experienced war and all its casualties. There are many implications of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wrap the measuring tape around the meatiest portion of your thigh to determine size. What is the difference between skinny and slim pants? Slim fit jean designs hug your hips and thighs. Thigh openings are slim and narrower than other fits, and they have the least fabric in the rear panels. Mens slim fit clothing draws the focus to the rear end and thigh areas. Skinny jeans cling like a second skin, especially around the thighs, knees, and calves of the leg. Skinny pants have a tighter overall fit than slim fit pants. • 11. The Debate Between Pro Life And Pro Choice With recent developments in Northern Irish legislation for on demand abortions , the debate between pro life and pro choice has been thrown back into the media and the morality of abortion scrutinized under the eye of third wave feminism, which has reclaimed the 1970 s slogan of The Right to Choose . The following essay intends to discuss how abortion is always an option and never a morally wrong act, as it is the mother s choice to do with her body what she wishes and such the fetus has no right to leech off the mother when the host is not willing. In this discussion one shall, as Thomson did in A Defence of Abortion (1971), accept the stance that a fetus is a person from conception, to avoid that issue all together. Autonomy is one of the main arguments presented by pro choice advocated, with the most extreme form arguing that a woman has complete right over her own liberty and so should be allowed to terminate her pregnancy whenever she wishes for whatever reason she wishes. This obviously becomes an issue when the argument of trivial justification is discussed, such as in the recent case of Josie Cunningham who had an abortion to have a nose job after she found out it was not possible to go under general anesthetic while pregnant (Nagesh, 2015). This is a case where for some it becomes hard to argue that this is a morally okay action, especially if it assumed that she killed a person for aesthetic reasons. However, some may still argue that as a rational human she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Violent video games are the most popular types of video games. Many young gamers are quite obsessed over these games. Recently violent video games (VVGs) have been accused of being the source to many mass shootings in the world, accused of corrupting the minds of young gamers. This is wrong. Violent Behavior in Video Games Violent video games are blamed for being linked to levels of aggression. Many people believe VVGs raise levels of aggression; however, studies show that belief is false. Although VVGs have violent content, it does not coincide with the levels of aggression being increased. Ratings for VVGs have regressed from their original state of maturity, meaning younger kids can play these games. If young children are approved to play VVGs then there must be reasons. Adults want their children to be social and make friends and video games can help them do that. According to Jack Hollingdale, playing cooperative team player video games increases empathy and decreases aggression (Hollingdale, 2014). Aggression levels are not the only factors thought to be linked to VVGs, hostility levels are another topic for arguing. To help prove that video games do not make young gamers want to hurt others a study was done. This study consisted of 43 young adults from ages 12 18, most of the youth were Caucasian American males. Arimidex does not have the side effects of aminoglutethimide (Cytadren) and can achieve a high degree of estrogen blockade, much moreso than Cytadren. It is possible to reduce estrogen too much with Arimidex, and for this reason blood tests, or less preferably salivary tests, should be taken after the first week of use to determine if the dosing is correct. As an aromatase inhibitor, Arimidex s mechanism of action blocking conversion of aromatizable steroids to estrogen is in contrast to the mechanism of action of anti estrogens such as clomiphene (Clomid) or tamoxifen (Nolvadex), which block estrogen receptors in some tissues, and activate estrogen receptors in others. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is often a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. Power can be expressed through controlling others, but it can also be expressed by disabling others from controlling you by rebelling. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the determination to stop others from controlling you. In Chaka, Thomas Mofolo distinguishes between the powerful and powerless by making the powerful easier to relate to than the powerless, while also showing how very few of the powerless were able to acquire power. The powerless and the powerful have two very distinct roles in this novel. The powerful are given more of a backstory so that we, as readers, can be able to relate and see the humanistic side of the powerful, since a majority of them gravely misuse their power. The powerless, however, are portrayed just as they are: powerless. They are the pawns used to each person of power s advantage and are not given as much of a backstory, unless their story is relevant to a person in power. This system that Plato outlines is based on the virtues of wisdom, courage, temperance, and justice. They would argue that if everyone is equal, there would be no one to lead or teach the rest of society. Although this idea for a society was developed by a highly credited philosopher, it is flawed because it devalues unity among its members. If a society holds some of its members in higher regard than others, it diminishes the value of welcoming all peoples and allowing them to come together as one unified body, because it now sets its basis on the preferential treatment of some over others. The first stage, planning involves developing a systematic process for attaining the goals of the organization...Leaders make change happen through planning instead of reacting to change (EntEd 2007). It will be important for them to realize how every task they complete connects to the goals or the business plan so there is a sense of value and something at stake. Directing will not end at this stage or even after the business is open, it will continue to be a necessary component that I must actively keep up with in order for this sporting goods store to succeed. Controlling goes hand in hand with directing as it will be important for me as a manager and owner to match the tasks delegated with the business plan and goals so that I can keep firm tabs on how we are progressing. This not only involves monitoring of progress but being vigilant so that if negative changes are occurring I can resolve the issue. As Richman (2006) more succinctly puts it, when it comes to controlling, in project management terms, it involves determining variances from the approved plan, then taking action to correct those variances. Through my fulfilling of these four important functions of management, I would be a permissive leader. For a small business like this sporting goods store that has a very small number of employees and only two other managers, it is necessary to allow everyone to have an equal hand in important decisions. While directing is a large part of my responsibility, I would still like to allow employees and managers a great deal of leeway concerning how they perform the tasks assigned and if those decisions on how to work are not productive, only then will ... • 34. Common Core Standards Analysis Analysis Using Common Core Standards The Common Core State Standards, also known as CCSS, are the academic standards in the state of California. The CCSS outlines what students should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. To evaluate John Black and Maria Mendoza s opinion essay, I will be using the CCSS generic 4 point opinion writing rubric. I will use each of the three main categories from the rubric, which include: statement of purpose/focus and organization, language and elaboration of evidence, and conventions to evaluate the two student writing samples. I will give the students a score of 0 4 for each category and discuss a lesson to address the certain writing issues the students need help with. Sample 1 by John Black received a score of 3 under the statement of purpose/focus and organization category from the CCSS rubric. I gave John a score of 3 because in the category it states the response is adequately and for the most part focused and overall John maintained focused however, there were a few sentences that did not belong. Score 3 in that category also states the opinion is clear and for the most part maintained. Throughout the essay, John maintains his opinion and is very clear ... The main issue I noticed in John s essay was the use of pronouns. John would use they but often it was hard to know who the subject was, which made it confusing. To help John I would have a lesson on pronouns and identifying the subjects in a sentence. Maybe have different sentences where students can identify the subject of the sentence. For sample 2 Maria received a score of 2 because there are lots of misspelling errors and errors using present and past tense. To help improve Maria s spelling I would give her spelling exercises or games and also assign weekly spelling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Civic pride is a sign of community strength and solidarity, consequently it goes hand in hand with pride for local sports teams. In the city of Oakland there have traditionally been the Oakland Raiders (an NFL team), the Golden State Warriors (and NBA team whose city ties are ambiguous), and the Oakland Athletics. Recently two of these teams have committed to leaving the city of Oakland for supposedly greener pastures in Las Vegas and across the bay in San Francisco. What they find is that many people have a budget for entertainment and therefore money spent at a sporting event is money that would otherwise have been spent at some other entertainment outlet in the city. They call this phenomena the substitution effect and accordingly, it is now included in most all stadium development proposals. In Oakland the situation is no different. While many Oakland A s fans do hail from municipalities outside of Oakland, the Bay Area as a whole is quite mobile in particular when it comes to entertainment. These non Oakland residents may be going out to eat or drink in Oakland instead of going to a ball game therefore the substitution effect would render the new stadiums impact rather minimal. At the present time the Bay Area is already plagued with traffic and public transportation issues as the population has outgrown the systems currently in place. Omens were a guide for Santiago in his journey. The king assist Santiago in recognizing omens by giving his two stones for making decision. They are called Urim and Thummim. The black signifies yes , and the white no . When you are unable to read the omens, they will help you to do so. Always ask an objective question (Coelho 32). Afterwards, Santiago used two stones after he was robbed by the boy. Am I going to find my treasure? he asked (Coelho 44). He had learned that there were certain things one shouldn t ask about, so as not to flee from one s personal legend. I promised that I would make my own decisions, he said no to himself (Coelho 44). • 40. Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet It is very common for human to confuse infatuation with true love. According to the Triangular Theory of Love by Robert J. Sternberg love is composed of three main parts. These parts are intimacy, passion, and commitment. Intimacy is distinguished by concern, understanding, and closeness between two partners. Intimacy usually takes a long time to build up and is something that can t be generated in a few days. Passion is portrayed as the desire to be with one s partner. Passion is the fierce inclination to be in someone s presence. Having passion is similar to an addiction. In a beginning of a relationship there is a high level of passion but fades as time progresses. Eventually the high of the relationship becomes less and less rewarding. This passion can be seen the when Romeo has to leave Juliet after concealing the marriage. At first Romeo tries to leave as quickly as possible. He says I must be gone and live, or stay and die (3.5.11). However since Romeo has so much passion for Juliet he is convinced by Juliet stay even though he would be killed by the Capulet s kinsman. He says Come, death, and welcome! Juliet wills it so./ How is t, my soul? Let s talk. It is not day (3.3.24 25).
