The Most Defining Moment In Interact
Describe one, if not your most, defining moment in Interact and how has that influenced your decision
to apply for presidency. In addition, explain why you would like to become President. My most
defining moment in Interact was when I wrote my letter of resignation in December of 2016. Before I
emailed my presidents telling them what I was doing, I decided to think of things in a different
perspective. I could either quit or keep forging on, and I chose the latter. That one situation helped me
the world in a different way. I hope to teach other members and nonmembers how to work through
personal problems for the better. In hindsight, if I had handed my letter to Emily or Victoria, the
district would be a bit different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I spent 2 year observing this club and how it works before deciding to get involved, and I know
exactly what I want changed and I remain extremely vocal and transparent about it. I understand that it
will be extremely hard to change a club that so set in its ways, but our Milpitas branch is extremely
unique in that we are similar to pipe cleaners, we are constantly able to adapt to our situation and
show our strength, and I know we can usher in an improved Milpitas Interact. Not only would I like to
be President because of my ideas to help Milpitas Interact develop, but to light a path for anyone
scared that it might be too late/different/weird to be part of Interact. I recently had a former Youthactor
tell me that she was not going to be involved in Interact because of how she felt about some members,
but now she wants to apply for a position and create an event with us. I try to be that bridge from the
outside world to the Interact world, and by doing this, I bring people who may not necessarily
consider themselves Interact y to love service. What do you seek to change/continue in what you see

Second World War Dbq Analysis
The Second World War was the first and only conflict that saw the use of atomic weapons of mass
destruction. During the war, Japan refused to surrender and as result, America dropped two atomic
bombs on Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Seemingly, this was to prevent a full invasion of japan,
which would undoubtedly cost substantial American lives. In addition to the warfare advantages this
would provide, this also handed diplomatic advantages to the United States. (Doc E)
Diplomatically, the use of the Atomic weapons would put a swift end to the war, which would
assuredly keep Russia out of the conflict and prevent them from gaining more power or influence,
especially sense Russia had demands in place that would allow Russia to gain more

History of Vietnam
As a citizen of Vietnam, I know that some past events shaped our country. Vietnam has a long history
with China and France. It is found that there are four countries play very important parts in our
history. There are China, France, Japan and the United States respectively. In this essay, the impact on
the past events, which shaped the today Vietnam and interactions between Vietnam and the countries
mentioned above will be discussed.
The relationship between my country, Vietnam and China changed several times in the past. Vietnam
had been a part of China and sometime China helped Vietnam and sometimes harmed Vietnam. Tran

It shaped the freedom and independent of Vietnam. This was the most important part of the Vietnam s
history. The August Revolution also ended the feudal governance and colonial governance of Vietnam.
In addition, we can see how the Vietnamese united. As to protect their own country, people from all
social strata supported the communists, they not afraid of death, they had strong determination in
defending their country. Not only males participated in the war also females, teenagers and child
engaged in it. Yet, France was back and Japan was repelled again. The return of France further hangs
the spirit of Vietnamese. The Unites States also a remarkable countries to Vietnam s history. In the
past, Vietnam was separated into Northern Vietnam and Sothern Vietnam. The United States was
allied with Southern Vietnam. In 2nd August 1964, the USS Maddox Incident was occurred as a
starting point to unify Vietnam. A boat, Maddox from the United States invaded the Vietnam s water
and the two armies from to countries warred. Although whether that claim is true is controversial, I
will believe my country. It is believed that it is a Provocative action from the Unites States, as they

Analysis Of The Movie Beauty And The Beast
Twenty six years ago, children were mystified by the story of a bookworm girl and her journey that
found her true love. Beauty and the Beast captured the hearts of many and grew into a staple Disney
movie. It follows Belle a beautiful, but misunderstood young adult. After she found her way to a
fantastical castle, her world changed completely. The original movie caused many children and adults
to connect and find themselves within the characters. Consequently, they decided to make a live action
version of the film a quarter of a century later. Bill Condon, the director of the 2017 film, added
dimension to the characters by further explaining their backgrounds. Facts about Belle s mom and the
Beast s family brought new sides that the 1991 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the movie allows other lessons such as telling people that they should dare to be
different and that they should love to learn. Maurice, Belle s father, and Belle show that being
different should be celebrated by their new, fascinating inventions that they always make. Also, Belle
and Beast show that learning is important when they go through the library and discuss their favorite
books. However, some people may not believe that Beauty and the Beast gives out the best morals.
For some people, Gaston s actions may cause negative feelings for the movie. Gaston s actions are
unforgivable and narcissistic, but they are for a greater purpose. Having Gaston in the movie allows
for the Beast to have an antithesis. Beast is beautiful on the inside and hideous on the outside, yet
Gaston s elegant features are overshadowed by his unsightly heart. While Gaston is a bad character
and should not be a role model, he helps portray the incredible message that the finest beauty is from
someone s brain and heart. As well as having a teachable lesson, family films usually need to have a
wide range of subgenres. Family movies, as a whole, encompass a wide variety of movies. For
example, The Wizard of Oz is seen as a family movie, but it also falls into the adventure and fantasy
genres (Dirks). Beauty and the Beast is similar in the way that it also has two other genres it falls
under: musical and fantasy. From the start of the movie to

The Importance Of Public Education
Since the beginning of public education, the responsibility of schools falls to the states. Through the
eighteenth century, public education was only for the wealthy due to the belief that poor children were
not worthy of being educated. In 1852, however then secretary of state of Massachusetts Horace Mann
urged that states be obliged to offer public education to all children. The revolutionary idea behind this
plea was that all individuals could and should be educated irrespective of economic class (School
Discipline History). During the mid nineteenth century, European models were being studied to
suggest kindness and encouragement towards students rather than corporal punishment. By 1910, it
was mandatory for all children to attend school. Teachers noticed an increase in absences, most likely
due to parental direction, which led the teachers role to become parental disciplinarians; teachers
functioned in loco parentis, meaning in the place of parents (School Discipline History). Good
discipline was shown as students sitting quietly as lessons were being taught from teacher to students.
After World War II, Dr. Benjamin Spock criticized these harsh techniques and encouraged parents and
teachers to be affectionate and flexible. Critics however would claim that Spock s theories would lead
children to become selfish, lazy, and unresponsive. In the end of the twentieth century, healthcare
professionals and educators became more informed about how student misbehavior

Symbolism In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Goblin Market tells the story of two devoted young sisters, Laura and Lizzie. Goblin men curse one
sister after offering her special fruit, and the other sister must face the goblin men to save her sister
from certain death (Rossetti 1 567). Poet Christina Rossetti employs a significant amount of
symbolism in her work, Goblin Market. Examples of symbols used in the poem include fruit, Lizzie,
goblin men, and money.
First, fruit is a symbol in Goblin Market. At the beginning of the poem, the goblin men advertise the
fruits they are selling:
Come buy our orchard fruits,
Come buy, come buy:
Apples and quinces,
Lemons and oranges,
Plump unpecked cherries,
Melons and raspberries... (Rossetti lines 3 8)
Laura is seduced into purchasing these fruits from the goblin men. She sucked and sucked and sucked
the more/ Fruits which that unknown orchard bore;/ She sucked until her lips were sore (Rossetti 134
136). I believe that the fruit is a symbol for sin. Laura knows that she should not be indulging in the
forbidden fruit, but her desire for the fruit prevails over her caution of the goblin men (Rossetti 69
106). Lizzie warns her from listening to the goblin men (Rossetti lines 48 49). Just as Eve in the Bible
eats the forbidden fruit, Laura eats the fruit as well. Eve becomes cursed because she eats the
forbidden fruit, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You have much gold upon your head, / They answered all together:/ Buy from us with a golden curl
(Rossetti 123 125). I believe that the money is a symbol for a loss of innocence. Once she pays for the
fruit and consumes it, she becomes sick (Rossetti 293 298). When Laura goes to save her sister, she
offers the goblin men a coin; however, they do not take it because she does not want to buy the fruit
willingly (Rossetti

The s Influence On The World s Music Today
Though Norway has a small population of only 5.3 million inhabitants, its musical culture is just as
rich as many other countries. From classical and folk, to blues, country, electronic, hip hop, pop, rock,
and metal, Norway s traditions contribute to all of them. Although Scandinavia is often overlooked, it
has a strong influence on all of the world s music today. Archaeological digs have shed light on some
unknown history of Norwegian music by revealing artifacts including instruments such as the lur. The
lur, having been seen on ancient Scandinavian rock paintings, is a five to eight foot long bronze
blowing horn. Having been found in Norway, Denmark, South Sweden, and even Northern Germany,

He traveled throughout Europe while composing in order to incorporate Norwegian rural tradition as
well as European culture into his music. Today he is highly celebrated in his hometown, with several
statues and locations dedicated to his work.
Another influential musician in Norway, Johan Svendsen, was a composer, conductor, and violinist.
Svendsen was known for composing larger scale orchestras and ensembles, while Grieg composed for
smaller instrumental ensembles. Svendson s most famous work is his Romance for violin and
orchestra. Although Svendsen was extremely popular in Norway and Denmark, winning several
awards and honors, these honors did not help his music spread very widely.
Folk music in Norway has been passed down for hundreds of years. It isn t easy to completely
describe Norwegian traditional music, with many specialized dialects from area to area. Few European
traditional music genres have as rich a variety of dialects as the Norwegian ones. There are many
opinions about what defines traditional music, but most Norwegian traditional music is in one of two
categories: instrumental and vocal. Instrumental folk music is typically used for dancing and is called
slåtter in Norwegian. There are two types of these dance melodies two beat and three beat. These folk
dances, usually performed by couples, are very social. Other

Long After Child Sexual Abuse
It is always so saddening to hear about sexual abuse especially when it involves a child, but many
times there are more damaging psychological and emotional effects when a child is sexually abused.
These effects can be short or long term and might not appear until later in life when the child has
grown and understands what has happened. Events like these can alter a child s perspective on life
because sexuality is a big part of healthy development, but when it is important that sexuality occurs
at the correct time of development and not in the form of sexual abuse. It is hard to understand or
predict what a person will be like when they are found to be sexually abused as a child. Long after
childhood sexual abuse (CSA) ends, many survivors

Economic Effects Of The Great Recession
The United States suffered its worst recession in the postwar period between the years December 2007
and June 2009. Every sector of the United States economy was severely affected. Many people
became unemployed. Though macroeconomists had predicted a stable economy, the Great Recession
happened. Policy makers such as Congress became responsible for the economy s recovery. The Great
Recession had lots of effects. Recession involves a fall in Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP is the
total value of both goods and services produced within a country. When a country s GDP falls, there is
lower income for people living in the country. This results in high costs of living and increase in
poverty. Many people lost their jobs. The category of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Federal Reserve s main purpose is to ensure price stability. It also helps the economy maintain its
maximum rate of employment. When the economy falls, the rate of unemployment increases. To avoid
this, the Federal Reserve lowers its interest rates hence encouraging investment and employment.
Consumers can spend more hence lowering the rate of unemployment. Spending programs such as
Unemployment Insurance, Medicaid, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program were important
during the recession. These government programs offer highly effective reactions to curb the
recession. The programs offer income to certain groups of people. Fiscal policy, which involves a
reduction in taxes and increasing government spending, help stimulate the economy. Tax cuts which
focus on lower income people prove helpful. This is because the lower income people are more likely
to spend whatever they get compared to those with high income. This helps boost the economy.
Congress also plays a part in the recovery of the economy, even though it takes time. The spending
programs offer a more automatic response. Congress authorizes policies which help boost the
economy. Congress may increase funding to the

Review Of The Bacchae, The Aeneid, And Book 15 Of...
Within the societies of ancient Greece and Rome, there was a plethora of regimes, Caesars, and
empires at the helm of everyday life. The political sphere encountered in the daily routines of ancient
Greeks and Romans gave influence to the multitude of literary works produced in these societies. The
works of Euripides, Virgil, and Ovid gave a vehicle for these writers to infuse commentary about the
politics of the day. Politics is how groups of people organize making decisions that affect the
individuals contained within said groups. The Bacchae, the Aeneid, and Book 15 of Metamorphoses
all contain commentary concerning politics within their content. In Euripides the Bacchae, the city of
Thebes is shown to have a system of political inheritance as Pentheus is given control over the city by
his grandfather Cadmus, the founder of the city. The god Dionysus is also a grandson of Cadmus, yet
is not chosen to be the heir to Thebes, which creates a rivalry between Dionysus and Pentheus.
Pentheus does not allow Dionysus into the city of Thebes or give recognition to Dionysus at all.
Dionysus and Pentheus both wish to establish their own political rule over the city of Thebes.
Pentheus attempts to rule Thebes in an Apollonian fashion. The women brought to Thebes by
Dionysus are put under arrest at the order of Pentheus, due to the drunken partying they were having

Internet Safety And The Internet
Internet safety has been an extensive issue for children and adolescents since accuse to the Internet has
become readily available in homes. With Internet use increasing at such rapid rates and a large
proportion of adolescents using the Internet daily, the awareness of Internet safety should be
addressed. The term Internet safety can be defined as the knowledge of maximizing an individuals
safety to private information, and self protection from using the Internet . The impact and influence
that the Internet has on adolescent life is far reaching and research findings by Norris (2007) indicate
that one quarter of the American youth that go online at home, do so in the privacy of their rooms.
Additionally, with the recent trend of wireless connections there has been a profound expansion in
private Internet usage. The diverse means by which adolescents are using the Internet has become
coupled with inherent risks of unsupervised and uneducated use.
The Internet plays a key role in the development of education. According to past research findings,
72% of adolescents surveyed reported using the Internet for school objectives and nearly all of them
go online daily (Norris, 2007). Additionally, many interviewed teenagers and parents reported that
Internet use is vital to complete school projects. Adolescents need to be educated on how to maximize

Analytic Hierarchy Process And Analytic Network Process
2.3.2 MCDA Models Related to Thesis Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process
There are different methods to solve multi criteria decision making problems. Analytic Hierarchy
Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) are two methods introduced by Tomas Saaty.
AHP tries to solve the decision problem by modeling it in a hierarchy while ANP is used when the
problem is so complex that cannot be modeled as a hierarchy. This complexity occurs because of the
effect of criteria on each other or the effect of alternatives on criteria. The Analytic Network Process is
a generalization of the Analytic Hierarchy Process. ANP approach comprises four steps [87]:
Step 1: Model construction and problem structuring: The problem should be stated clearly and
decomposed into a rational system like a network
Step 2: Pairwise comparisons and priority vectors: In ANP, like AHP, pairs of decision elements at
each cluster are compared with respect to their importance towards their control criteria. In addition,
interdependencies among criteria of a cluster must also be examined pairwise; the influence of each
element on other elements can be represented by an eigenvector. The relative importance values are
determined with Saaty s scale.
Step 3: Supermatrix formation: The Supermatrix concept is similar to the Markov chain process. To
obtain global priorities in a system with interdependent influences, the local priority vectors are
entered in the appropriate columns of a

Paper Towns Identity
In Paper Towns by John Green, I ve noticed the peculiar relationship between Margo and Quentin. I

friends eventually skip graduation and explore the options these clues leave them along the way Green

So he agrees and they end up having a really great time. I believe that this is the beginning of the
theme exploration within the novel. Personally I believe that Margo Roth Spiegelman fits perfectly
into the song On the Road Again because she can t stop going places she s never gone before,
exploring possibilities and exploring herself in a way too. I do however think that Quentin has more of
an explorative spirit than Margo as he explores himself, his love for Margo, his friendships, the
country and Margo s mind all by following some clues. Both characters exploration develops
throughout the text as Quentin s goes from exploring a new flavour of nutrition bar to exploring his
own actions and feelings that he hasn t even given the smallest thought to over the past 17 years such
as his love for Margo Roth Spiegelman, and exploring new options such as he can actually be

Antoine Lavoisier
The law of conservation of mass states that mass cannot created or destroyed but how did this law
come to be. Well the ancient Greeks proposed that the total amount of matter in the universe is
constant. But the law was first confirmed in about 1785 by Antoine Lavoisier when he weighed his
reactants before the reaction and after the reaction and they weighed the same. We can still perform
this experiment and see that Lavoisier s conclusion was true.
You may be wondering who Lavoisier is well to start off he was a scientist. LAvoisier was a
revolutionary when it came to chemistry, for one he named the elements carbon, hydrogen, and

Voting In The United States
In American history, voting has been a direct involvement of the public with the government. Patterns
based on the structure of voting have emerged to demographically section the voting population.
Scholars have found that these voting patterns can be followed by studying the political activity of
different religious groups. From the 1960s to our most recent elections, voting patterns among these
groups have fluctuated as well as stayed constant. The reason for such changes, or lack thereof, can be
credited to a number of social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and other major secular
controversies as well as the historical context from where their political decisions arise. These patterns
show that some people experience pressure from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

occupancy of religious careers, and sexual education (Fowler, 91). With all of these variables, the

The Star of Bethlehem Essay
It is commonly thought the star of Bethlehem rose in the east and continued brightly as the wise men
followed the star to Bethlehem. Recent evidence has shown this is not the case. Key evidence shown
in the Bible reveals nine specific characteristics this star needs for it to be the true star of Bethlehem.
Beyond these, there are questions about the star and those who witnessed the event that need to be
answered. These questions include: Who were the wise men? How did they know what the star
meant? And how can a star stop? The first three of the nine points state what the star meant to the wise
men. When the wise men asked in Matthew 2:2 Where is the one who has been born King of the

There are clues within ancient documents and the bible leading toward the date. In the bible Herod is
alive at the time of the birth of Jesus. The most current documents place Herod s death around 4 B.C.
But, in the earliest of writings by Josephus, Herod s death is placed at 1 B.C. This change opens up
two years for us to look for the star. In the bible, it states from the wise men the star was the brightest
star. Common theories say the star could have been a comet, a meteor, a nova, and a host of others.
Comets are in fact very bright, but in the ancient times comets were regarded as omens of doom and
destruction. God would not have used a negative to signify the birth of Christ when he wanted Christ
to be received in a joyous manner. The star could not have been a meteor because they shoot across
the sky and do not stop. Also, meteors do not last long in the sky, thus failing to suffice for the nine
points of the star. The latter is also same for a nova; they do not endure over time. The fact that Herod
needed to ask what the sign was and when it appeared shows us that it needed to be a common
appearance in the sky, or something not very noticeable. When each of these criteria are factored into
the equation, very interesting result come about. What to my wondering eyes should appear? But a

Should Books Be Banned From Libraries Essay
How would you like it if you needed a book for research or if you really liked a certain type of books
and they were banned? Books like The Outsiders could be banned for censored information about
drugs and alcohol. Libraries have been debating this problem for a long time to get a rule on
censorship or no censorship. Censoring in libraries is a big problem. People don t know if certain
books should be banned from libraries, and libraries don t know what would be censored and what
wouldn t be censored. I don t think books should be banned from libraries because they can show you
what not to do and be used for research topics, how would libraries decide what is censored and what
isn t, or they could be something that some reader like that others don t like.
Censorship should not be put in place because some of the book that are censored my be historic and
help people see what not to repeat in life. Books like the one Hitler wrote should not be censored
because they show society how to not act and how we can not repeat history. Some old books can be
used for research purposes for students and teachers. They can show people helpful things that some
people don t understand. These are types of books that could be censored, used in other ways than just
for bad use. This Is why books should not be censored because many that would be, contain valuable
historic content. Books in libraries should not be censored because of the historic value of the books.
I think some drama and romance books that might be censored shouldn t be because some people like
that stuff. Romance books like Fifty Shades of Gray might be liked by some people and we shouldn t
take away types of books that some people enjoy. Books that tell about very gory and violent things
people still like so we shouldn t take away those books. If we took away some drama, romance, or
violent books, where would the line be to have them be acceptable? Just because they shouldn t be
read by young readers doesn t mean they should be taken away. Parents of the young readers can just
tell them not to read the book. They can tell their children not to go to that certain section. Just
because you don t like the book doesn t mean it should be taken away from someone

Comparison Between Because He Loves Her And Girl Afraid
The poem Because He loves Her , by Emily Dickinson, and the song Girl Afraid by The Smiths share
a common topic: relationship dynamics. They discuss two different couples and show both ends of the
spectrum. In Dickinson s poem, the two are in love and the man treats his love exceptionally well. In
Girl Afraid , the couple is in a vastly different situation. They seem listless and completely lacking in
love or feelings of intimacy. Emily Dickinson s poem seems to be from an outsider s perspective. We
will pry and see if she is fair gives the impression that perhaps the narrator deems the man s paramour
maybe lacking, or maybe the narrator is jealous (Dickinson 2). This line sets the tone of the rest of the
poem as a possibly bitter narrator grows to grudgingly admit that the woman mentioned is beyond
suitable. Then there is That we are so far behind / Her Distances ... Show more content on

However, the two stay together despite their issues and their mutual cry of I ll never make that mistake
again . Emily Dickinson s Because He loves Her has a thriving relationship in comparison, and the
misery is that of the narrator s. In the song, the girl laments that her boyfriend doesn t notice her
despite her attempts to garner his attention. In contrast, Not hoping for his notice vast / But nearer to
adore means that the woman in the poem does not have to try to get her beau s attention, and that he
just adores her (Dickinson 9 10). The poem and the song both delve into the dynamics between a
romantically involved pair, and seem to have three characters. In Because He loves Her , the three
characters are the woman, the man, and the jealous narrator. In Girl Afraid , the three characters are
the girl, the boy, and the person they seem to be complaining to. This leads to the ideas of both the
poem and the song, and how they have similar tones, and the importance of the

The Divine Command Theory, And Natural Law Theory
Philosophers base the idea of objective morality on the assumption that some moral ideals are
universal and should be the moral responsibility of everyone. Subjective moralists counter this
argument by explaining that each moral decision is independent because each moral situation is
unique to its own conditions. Ultimately, these two views shape the nature of moral philosophy and
theology, each describing the different natures of morality (Hammond). These two theories have a
large impact on the thinking process of humans on an everyday basis. This process then leads up to a
person valuing different things more than others. The separation of objective and subjective theories
all boil down to whether or not a theory is universal or not. A subjective theory has an absence of
universal truths, and an objective theory has universal truths. Two vary popular theories that will take
part in my research were the Divine Command Theory, and Natural law theory. Two theories that may
seem similar, but in fact are very different.
Divine Command Theory is a type of ethical relativism that states that morality is dependent on God s
will, and his will, and his way is holy, and will forever be no matter the situation. In other words as
stated by Rachels, what God commands is what is morally right, and what God forbids is morally
wrong (Rachels, 2001). Within this theory, it makes it known that morality cannot exist separately
from God s will.
Divine Command Theory can be closely related

The Hippies And The Movement Of The Hippie Movement In San...
During the early 1960s the hippies began a movement for the youth in San Francisco; it was a
movement that developed very rapidly around the world. It consisted of a group of people who had an
opposition against the political and social standards. This group of people chose to favor peace, love
and freedom as their way of living. The hippies had their own standards of living, they rejected
institutions and were always criticizing the value of the middle class. Many of them were usually all
about the planet and vegetarians, they also promoted the use of mind blowing drugs. The hippies
created their own communities, listen to heavy rock, embraced sexual revolution, and used drugs to
adventure different stages of consciousness.
1. Scott McKenzie San Francisco (1967)
Scott McKenzie was in a group called The Journeymen, with whom he performed the song San
Francisco . This was one of the big Hippie hits that took place during the summer of 1967. That
summer was known as, The Summer of Love . This music became popular among the growing peace
activists and folkies. McKenzie mentions in his song that if you go to San Francisco be sure to wear
some flowers in your hair. That became the signature for the hippie era. They would wear flowers in
their hair as well as in their clothes. His type of music was the turning point to the hippy revolution,
mind bending, peace, and love.

The Long Term Effects Of Head Start
Head Start is a federally funded government agency, that provides low income youth with pre school
and health services (Barnett, 2007). However, the long term effects of Head Start are extremely
difficult to measure (Lee, Zhai, Brooks Gunn, Han, Waldfogel, 2013). Subsequently, Head Start has
become one of the most controversial government agencies (Nathan, 2007).
Head Start was created in 1965, during Lyndon B. Johnson s presidential administration, as part of the
Great Society plan and the War on Poverty (Currie , 2001). After observing the quality discrepancies
between low income and high income educational settings, Johnson realized that Five and six year old
children are inheritors of poverty s curse...(Johnson, 1965) As a result, he called for the creation of a
program that would allow ...preschool children of poverty [to] get a Head Start on their future
(Johnson, 1965). Soon, Head Start was established, with the goal of enhance[ing] children s physical,
social, emotional and cognitive development (Mississippi Head Start Association, 2012).
For the first twenty years of its existence, Head Start was an intensive summer program (Hevesi,
2010). During an eight week period, throughout June and July, four and five year olds, from low
income families, were taught fundamental math and reading skills that would prepare them for
kindergarten in the fall (Hevesi, 2010). Due to the overwhelming success of the summer program, in
1982 Head Start was expanded to become a

Witches And The Witch Trials
In Europe from the late fifteenth to early seventeenth centuries many people, both men and women,
were persecuted as witches. The reasons for the persecution of individuals as witches included gender
discrimination, religious fanaticism, an explanation for the otherwise unexplainable events that took
place, and even as a way for secular officials to gain more wealth. Misogyny being a cause to the
witch trials may have resulted from the new roles of women in society conflicting with the traditional
views of women as sinful, and also accounts for why the majority of individuals persecuted were
women. A religious spark was ignited during the Protestant Reformation as people became more
religiously devoted and wanted to eliminate threats to their faith, such as witches. Many strange
occurrences such as disease or even non harmful events that were simply unexplainable led people to
believe witches as the causes. Some people may have not even believed another person to be a witch
but may have just wanted wealth and that person s possessions and declared them a witch for that
reason. All these factors contributed to the period now known as the witch craze, which resulted in the
torture and death of many people.
One of the main factors in the persecution of witches comes from the men of the time s misogynistic
attitudes. During this time, women were beginning to take more prominent roles in society, like the
notable humanist Christine de Pizan or The First Lady of the Renaissance,

Myrtle Carter Creative Writing
Such an unusual time, this minute of sleeping. It s around noon, half past eleven, and the room was so
quiet that if you were to listen close you could hear little ants running across to reach the crumbs that
had scattered beneath the counter and onto the floor. The walls are quiet, too, with nothing to watch,
they close their eyes and rest soundly. The lamps bleed light into the room, but as time passes, the
bulbs dim with death and eventually burn out. Summer is coming, the season of getting old, when hair
is damaged by chlorine in the blue pools and skin grows pale underneath the outlines of swimsuits and
t shirts stick to the sweating backs of the working people. The sun from last year had already made the
white walls pale enough to leave outlines of frames hung up, artwork and photos from the years
permanently engrained into the room. As the room sleeps, the walls sweat, and the floors sigh under

Myrtle almost laughs. No, she corrects. It s our decision.

2.1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
On September 27th 2013 a four storey building in Dockyard Road in the east of Mumbai collapsed
resulting in the death of 61 people. Officials have identified that 22 families of employees of the
Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai resided in the four storey building. As property and rent
prices in Mumbai rise it is those that are less fortunate that have to live in such dilapidated buildings.
2.2. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MAIN FAILURE CAUSES
Poor construction practices in India are believed to be one of the main failure causes. Rising prices in
India s cities results in those less affluent are forced to live is structurally poor accommodation. The
main failure cause was due to a central wall and supporting beams being removed thus giving the
building insufficient stability.

Benzodiazepines Research Paper
The benzodiazepines, with their anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant and myorelaxant properties are
commonly used in the fields of psychiatry and neurology. They were originally introduced as an
alternative to meprobamate and the barbiturates, as their lethal dosage was only slightly higher than
their therapeutic dose. With the rise in the prescription of benzodiazepines for short term insomnia and
anxiety relief, and the subsequent rise of cases featuring benzodiazepine abuse, it seems ever more
important that an alternative devoid of abuse and dependence potential is found, without
compromising effectiveness. Dependence is much more likely when used long term, as tolerance is
built up and the dosage escalates. Several alternatives exist for ... Show more content on

The majority of GABAA receptors contain an alpha 1, 2, 3 or 5 subunits. The receptor allows for the
transmission of Cl anions when its ligand, GABA, docks to it between the alpha and beta subunits.
The binding of GABA to its receptor enlarges the chloride channels, and so allowing more chloride
ions to move into the neuron, hyperpolarising it. The effect of this is to slow down the rate of neuronal
firing. It also contains other allosteric binding sites, allowing for benzodiazepines, barbiturates,
alcohol, meprobamate and other drugs to affect it. The subunit to which a benzodiazepine binds is
shown to contribute to its effects: binding at the alpha 1 or 5 subunits leads to sedation, while binding
to the alpha 2 or 3 subunits is associated with

Biological Causes Of Behavior Paper
According to Killeen (2001), comprehension of a phenomenon involves identifying its origin,
structure, substrate, and function, and representing these factors in some formal system (p. 136). Many
of these components account for the biological causes of behavior, including anatomy and physiology.
In order to clarify the causes behind cognitive and emotional behaviors, biological explanations are
divided into four categories: physiological, ontogenetic, evolutionary, and functional explanations.
Normal, everyday behaviors, however, are not applied to these categories as they are considered to be
common sense activities (Kalat, 2013). To explain how each of these groupings relate to a specified
behavior, consider the manner in which the practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Second Great Awakening And The Second Great Awakening
During the Jacksonian Era, the Second Great Awakening grew immensely in popularity in the United
States. This return to religion brought along not only religious zeal but also the urge to achieve reform
in various areas of American life. The religious revivals that took place during this movement had a
major effect on the culture of the United States. This is so because it caused many new religions to
branch off of Protestantism. Baptists, Methodists, and Congregationalists are a few of the many
examples of these emergent religions. One man in particular, Aaron Lummus, describes the story of
how he was converted to Methodism and how much it affected him: My heart was filled with a calm
peace, which I never felt before (Lummus 4 11). His story shows just how powerful the conversions
affected these people and how the newly converted could use their religious fervor to impact others
and the US. Lummus himself later became one of many Methodist ministers, all of whom converted
many others during this period. Many of these newly formed Protestant religions are still active today,
showing how significantly this movement affected the US even in present day. The Second Great
Awakening greatly expanded upon the First Great Awakening. It did so by bringing Americans back to
the faith after a period of straying from a religion. However, both movements revived religion in
different ways. The First Great Awakening mainly utilized fear in order to convert people by saying
that if they

Business Management At The Ecole Des Hautes Etudes...
Two weeks ago, I received my admission at the École des hautes études commerciales of Montreal. As
I chose to go in business management, I will probably have to deal with employees, hiring and firing
some. Thus, I started questioning myself on that. When you have such a short meeting with someone,
how can you know if a person is right for the job? Of course, the first impression can influence your
choice but then, it would only be based on their appearance not on their competencies. For example, if
a women walks in with dirty pink hair and smells bad but has an interesting CV, should it influence
my decision in hiring that person? Wouldn t that be discrimination? Nobody should be discriminated
for a job for their global appearance or style. However, having employees that have a particularly
marginal look can affect the company s image. It is better to avoid that because a good corporate
image is hard to build and it is related to a lot of different elements. It has a major impact on the
business and translates better money entries and higher stock valuation. It is indeed the manager s job
to try to make sure the corporate image takes the right direction by communications, brand selection
and promotion, use of symbols in advertising etc. Corporations trying to shape their image are
analogous to individuals who will dress appropriately, cultivate courteous manners, and choose their
words carefully in order to come across competent, likeable, and reliable. In the personal as

  • 2. The Most Defining Moment In Interact Describe one, if not your most, defining moment in Interact and how has that influenced your decision to apply for presidency. In addition, explain why you would like to become President. My most defining moment in Interact was when I wrote my letter of resignation in December of 2016. Before I emailed my presidents telling them what I was doing, I decided to think of things in a different perspective. I could either quit or keep forging on, and I chose the latter. That one situation helped me the world in a different way. I hope to teach other members and nonmembers how to work through personal problems for the better. In hindsight, if I had handed my letter to Emily or Victoria, the district would be a bit different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I spent 2 year observing this club and how it works before deciding to get involved, and I know exactly what I want changed and I remain extremely vocal and transparent about it. I understand that it will be extremely hard to change a club that so set in its ways, but our Milpitas branch is extremely unique in that we are similar to pipe cleaners, we are constantly able to adapt to our situation and show our strength, and I know we can usher in an improved Milpitas Interact. Not only would I like to be President because of my ideas to help Milpitas Interact develop, but to light a path for anyone scared that it might be too late/different/weird to be part of Interact. I recently had a former Youthactor tell me that she was not going to be involved in Interact because of how she felt about some members, but now she wants to apply for a position and create an event with us. I try to be that bridge from the outside world to the Interact world, and by doing this, I bring people who may not necessarily consider themselves Interact y to love service. • 3. Second World War Dbq Analysis The Second World War was the first and only conflict that saw the use of atomic weapons of mass destruction. During the war, Japan refused to surrender and as result, America dropped two atomic bombs on Japan at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Seemingly, this was to prevent a full invasion of japan, which would undoubtedly cost substantial American lives. In addition to the warfare advantages this would provide, this also handed diplomatic advantages to the United States. (Doc E) Diplomatically, the use of the Atomic weapons would put a swift end to the war, which would assuredly keep Russia out of the conflict and prevent them from gaining more power or influence, especially sense Russia had demands in place that would allow Russia to gain more ... It is found that there are four countries play very important parts in our history. There are China, France, Japan and the United States respectively. In this essay, the impact on the past events, which shaped the today Vietnam and interactions between Vietnam and the countries mentioned above will be discussed. It shaped the freedom and independent of Vietnam. This was the most important part of the Vietnam s history. The August Revolution also ended the feudal governance and colonial governance of Vietnam. • 5. Analysis Of The Movie Beauty And The Beast Twenty six years ago, children were mystified by the story of a bookworm girl and her journey that found her true love. Beauty and the Beast captured the hearts of many and grew into a staple Disney movie. It follows Belle a beautiful, but misunderstood young adult. After she found her way to a fantastical castle, her world changed completely. The original movie caused many children and adults to connect and find themselves within the characters. Consequently, they decided to make a live action version of the film a quarter of a century later. Bill Condon, the director of the 2017 film, added dimension to the characters by further explaining their backgrounds. Additionally, the movie allows other lessons such as telling people that they should dare to be different and that they should love to learn. Maurice, Belle s father, and Belle show that being different should be celebrated by their new, fascinating inventions that they always make. Also, Belle and Beast show that learning is important when they go through the library and discuss their favorite books. However, some people may not believe that Beauty and the Beast gives out the best morals. For some people, Gaston s actions may cause negative feelings for the movie. Gaston s actions are unforgivable and narcissistic, but they are for a greater purpose. Having Gaston in the movie allows for the Beast to have an antithesis. Beast is beautiful on the inside and hideous on the outside, yet Gaston s elegant features are overshadowed by his unsightly heart. While Gaston is a bad character and should not be a role model, he helps portray the incredible message that the finest beauty is from someone s brain and heart. As well as having a teachable lesson, family films usually need to have a wide range of subgenres. Family movies, as a whole, encompass a wide variety of movies. For example, The Wizard of Oz is seen as a family movie, but it also falls into the adventure and fantasy genres (Dirks). Beauty and the Beast is similar in the way that it also has two other genres it falls under: musical and fantasy. From the start of the movie to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Importance Of Public Education Since the beginning of public education, the responsibility of schools falls to the states. Through the eighteenth century, public education was only for the wealthy due to the belief that poor children were not worthy of being educated. In 1852, however then secretary of state of Massachusetts Horace Mann urged that states be obliged to offer public education to all children. The revolutionary idea behind this plea was that all individuals could and should be educated irrespective of economic class (School Discipline History). During the mid nineteenth century, European models were being studied to suggest kindness and encouragement towards students rather than corporal punishment. By 1910, it was mandatory for all children to attend school. Teachers noticed an increase in absences, most likely due to parental direction, which led the teachers role to become parental disciplinarians; teachers functioned in loco parentis, meaning in the place of parents (School Discipline History). Good discipline was shown as students sitting quietly as lessons were being taught from teacher to students. After World War II, Dr. Benjamin Spock criticized these harsh techniques and encouraged parents and teachers to be affectionate and flexible. Critics however would claim that Spock s theories would lead children to become selfish, lazy, and unresponsive. In the end of the twentieth century, healthcare professionals and educators became more informed about how student misbehavior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Symbolism In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market Goblin Market tells the story of two devoted young sisters, Laura and Lizzie. Goblin men curse one sister after offering her special fruit, and the other sister must face the goblin men to save her sister from certain death (Rossetti 1 567). Poet Christina Rossetti employs a significant amount of symbolism in her work, Goblin Market. Examples of symbols used in the poem include fruit, Lizzie, goblin men, and money. First, fruit is a symbol in Goblin Market. At the beginning of the poem, the goblin men advertise the fruits they are selling: Come buy our orchard fruits, Come buy, come buy: Apples and quinces, Lemons and oranges, Plump unpecked cherries, Melons and raspberries... (Rossetti lines 3 8) Laura is seduced into purchasing these fruits from the goblin men. She sucked and sucked and sucked the more/ Fruits which that unknown orchard bore;/ She sucked until her lips were sore (Rossetti 134 136). I believe that the fruit is a symbol for sin. Laura knows that she should not be indulging in the forbidden fruit, but her desire for the fruit prevails over her caution of the goblin men (Rossetti 69 106). Lizzie warns her from listening to the goblin men (Rossetti lines 48 49). Just as Eve in the Bible eats the forbidden fruit, Laura eats the fruit as well. From classical and folk, to blues, country, electronic, hip hop, pop, rock, and metal, Norway s traditions contribute to all of them. Although Scandinavia is often overlooked, it has a strong influence on all of the world s music today. Archaeological digs have shed light on some unknown history of Norwegian music by revealing artifacts including instruments such as the lur. He traveled throughout Europe while composing in order to incorporate Norwegian rural tradition as well as European culture into his music. Today he is highly celebrated in his hometown, with several statues and locations dedicated to his work. Another influential musician in Norway, Johan Svendsen, was a composer, conductor, and violinist. Svendsen was known for composing larger scale orchestras and ensembles, while Grieg composed for smaller instrumental ensembles. Svendson s most famous work is his Romance for violin and orchestra. Although Svendsen was extremely popular in Norway and Denmark, winning several awards and honors, these honors did not help his music spread very widely. Folk music in Norway has been passed down for hundreds of years. It isn t easy to completely describe Norwegian traditional music, with many specialized dialects from area to area. Few European traditional music genres have as rich a variety of dialects as the Norwegian ones. There are many opinions about what defines traditional music, but most Norwegian traditional music is in one of two categories: instrumental and vocal. Instrumental folk music is typically used for dancing and is called slåtter in Norwegian. There are two types of these dance melodies two beat and three beat. The political sphere encountered in the daily routines of ancient Greeks and Romans gave influence to the multitude of literary works produced in these societies. The works of Euripides, Virgil, and Ovid gave a vehicle for these writers to infuse commentary about the politics of the day. Politics is how groups of people organize making decisions that affect the individuals contained within said groups. The Bacchae, the Aeneid, and Book 15 of Metamorphoses all contain commentary concerning politics within their content. In Euripides the Bacchae, the city of Thebes is shown to have a system of political inheritance as Pentheus is given control over the city by his grandfather Cadmus, the founder of the city. The god Dionysus is also a grandson of Cadmus, yet is not chosen to be the heir to Thebes, which creates a rivalry between Dionysus and Pentheus. Pentheus does not allow Dionysus into the city of Thebes or give recognition to Dionysus at all. Dionysus and Pentheus both wish to establish their own political rule over the city of Thebes. • 16. Analytic Hierarchy Process And Analytic Network Process 2.3.2 MCDA Models Related to Thesis Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process There are different methods to solve multi criteria decision making problems. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) are two methods introduced by Tomas Saaty. AHP tries to solve the decision problem by modeling it in a hierarchy while ANP is used when the problem is so complex that cannot be modeled as a hierarchy. This complexity occurs because of the effect of criteria on each other or the effect of alternatives on criteria. The Analytic Network Process is a generalization of the Analytic Hierarchy Process. ANP approach comprises four steps [87]: Step 1: Model construction and problem structuring: The problem should be stated clearly and decomposed into a rational system like a network Step 2: Pairwise comparisons and priority vectors: In ANP, like AHP, pairs of decision elements at each cluster are compared with respect to their importance towards their control criteria. In addition, interdependencies among criteria of a cluster must also be examined pairwise; the influence of each element on other elements can be represented by an eigenvector. The relative importance values are determined with Saaty s scale. Step 3: Supermatrix formation: The Supermatrix concept is similar to the Markov chain process. To obtain global priorities in a system with interdependent influences, the local priority vectors are entered in the appropriate columns of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the 1960s to our most recent elections, voting patterns among these groups have fluctuated as well as stayed constant. In the bible Herod is alive at the time of the birth of Jesus. The most current documents place Herod s death around 4 B.C. But, in the earliest of writings by Josephus, Herod s death is placed at 1 B.C. This change opens up two years for us to look for the star. In the bible, it states from the wise men the star was the brightest star. Common theories say the star could have been a comet, a meteor, a nova, and a host of others. Comets are in fact very bright, but in the ancient times comets were regarded as omens of doom and destruction. God would not have used a negative to signify the birth of Christ when he wanted Christ to be received in a joyous manner. The star could not have been a meteor because they shoot across the sky and do not stop. Also, meteors do not last long in the sky, thus failing to suffice for the nine points of the star. The latter is also same for a nova; they do not endure over time. The fact that Herod needed to ask what the sign was and when it appeared shows us that it needed to be a common appearance in the sky, or something not very noticeable. When each of these criteria are factored into the equation, very interesting result come about. What to my wondering eyes should appear? But a star named Jupiter and Regulus together! • 22. Should Books Be Banned From Libraries Essay How would you like it if you needed a book for research or if you really liked a certain type of books and they were banned? Books like The Outsiders could be banned for censored information about drugs and alcohol. Libraries have been debating this problem for a long time to get a rule on censorship or no censorship. Censoring in libraries is a big problem. People don t know if certain books should be banned from libraries, and libraries don t know what would be censored and what wouldn t be censored. I don t think books should be banned from libraries because they can show you what not to do and be used for research topics, how would libraries decide what is censored and what isn t, or they could be something that some reader like that others don t like. Censorship should not be put in place because some of the book that are censored my be historic and help people see what not to repeat in life. Books like the one Hitler wrote should not be censored because they show society how to not act and how we can not repeat history. Some old books can be used for research purposes for students and teachers. They can show people helpful things that some people don t understand. These are types of books that could be censored, used in other ways than just for bad use. This Is why books should not be censored because many that would be, contain valuable historic content. Books in libraries should not be censored because of the historic value of the books. I think some drama and romance books that might be censored shouldn t be because some people like that stuff. Romance books like Fifty Shades of Gray might be liked by some people and we shouldn t take away types of books that some people enjoy. Books that tell about very gory and violent things people still like so we shouldn t take away those books. If we took away some drama, romance, or violent books, where would the line be to have them be acceptable? Just because they shouldn t be read by young readers doesn t mean they should be taken away. • 26. The Divine Command Theory, And Natural Law Theory Philosophers base the idea of objective morality on the assumption that some moral ideals are universal and should be the moral responsibility of everyone. Subjective moralists counter this argument by explaining that each moral decision is independent because each moral situation is unique to its own conditions. Ultimately, these two views shape the nature of moral philosophy and theology, each describing the different natures of morality (Hammond). These two theories have a large impact on the thinking process of humans on an everyday basis. This process then leads up to a person valuing different things more than others. The separation of objective and subjective theories all boil down to whether or not a theory is universal or not. A subjective theory has an absence of universal truths, and an objective theory has universal truths. Two vary popular theories that will take part in my research were the Divine Command Theory, and Natural law theory. Two theories that may seem similar, but in fact are very different. Divine Command Theory is a type of ethical relativism that states that morality is dependent on God s will, and his will, and his way is holy, and will forever be no matter the situation. In other words as stated by Rachels, what God commands is what is morally right, and what God forbids is morally wrong (Rachels, 2001). • 29. Witches And The Witch Trials In Europe from the late fifteenth to early seventeenth centuries many people, both men and women, were persecuted as witches. The reasons for the persecution of individuals as witches included gender discrimination, religious fanaticism, an explanation for the otherwise unexplainable events that took place, and even as a way for secular officials to gain more wealth. Misogyny being a cause to the witch trials may have resulted from the new roles of women in society conflicting with the traditional views of women as sinful, and also accounts for why the majority of individuals persecuted were women. A religious spark was ignited during the Protestant Reformation as people became more religiously devoted and wanted to eliminate threats to their faith, such as witches. Many strange occurrences such as disease or even non harmful events that were simply unexplainable led people to believe witches as the causes. Some people may have not even believed another person to be a witch but may have just wanted wealth and that person s possessions and declared them a witch for that reason. All these factors contributed to the period now known as the witch craze, which resulted in the torture and death of many people. • 33. Myrtle Carter Creative Writing Such an unusual time, this minute of sleeping. It s around noon, half past eleven, and the room was so quiet that if you were to listen close you could hear little ants running across to reach the crumbs that had scattered beneath the counter and onto the floor. The walls are quiet, too, with nothing to watch, they close their eyes and rest soundly. The lamps bleed light into the room, but as time passes, the bulbs dim with death and eventually burn out. Summer is coming, the season of getting old, when hair is damaged by chlorine in the blue pools and skin grows pale underneath the outlines of swimsuits and t shirts stick to the sweating backs of the working people. The sun from last year had already made the white walls pale enough to leave outlines of frames hung up, artwork and photos from the years permanently engrained into the room. As the room sleeps, the walls sweat, and the floors sigh under the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She looks up at him in surprise, then back down, pulling the morning paper from underneath the pile of mail. She turns to the front page, thumbing through the newspaper, not really reading, not really there. Myrtle can hear Carter s steady chewing, and out of the corner of her eye, she watches him break off pieces of the cookie. His engagement ring is golden and twinkling, hers is somewhere in the bathroom. Myrtle sets the paper down suddenly and clears her throat. I don t want the blue car, she says. Well, Carter says, sighing and taking a timid sip from his glass. He licks the rim to keep a drop from rolling down the side of the glass and places it carefully in the center of the cork coaster. It s my decision. Myrtle almost laughs. No, she corrects. It s our decision. Carter stares at her for a moment, a look of warning, testing her. He sighs again, looking back down and picking off another piece of cookie. His eyes calm. Until we re married, he begins, it s not our decision. It s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Benzodiazepines Research Paper The benzodiazepines, with their anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant and myorelaxant properties are commonly used in the fields of psychiatry and neurology. They were originally introduced as an alternative to meprobamate and the barbiturates, as their lethal dosage was only slightly higher than their therapeutic dose. With the rise in the prescription of benzodiazepines for short term insomnia and anxiety relief, and the subsequent rise of cases featuring benzodiazepine abuse, it seems ever more important that an alternative devoid of abuse and dependence potential is found, without compromising effectiveness. Dependence is much more likely when used long term, as tolerance is built up and the dosage escalates. Several alternatives exist for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of GABAA receptors contain an alpha 1, 2, 3 or 5 subunits. The receptor allows for the transmission of Cl anions when its ligand, GABA, docks to it between the alpha and beta subunits. The binding of GABA to its receptor enlarges the chloride channels, and so allowing more chloride ions to move into the neuron, hyperpolarising it. The effect of this is to slow down the rate of neuronal firing. It also contains other allosteric binding sites, allowing for benzodiazepines, barbiturates, alcohol, meprobamate and other drugs to affect it. The subunit to which a benzodiazepine binds is shown to contribute to its effects: binding at the alpha 1 or 5 subunits leads to sedation, while binding to the alpha 2 or 3 subunits is associated with ... • 36. Biological Causes Of Behavior Paper According to Killeen (2001), comprehension of a phenomenon involves identifying its origin, structure, substrate, and function, and representing these factors in some formal system (p. 136). Many of these components account for the biological causes of behavior, including anatomy and physiology. In order to clarify the causes behind cognitive and emotional behaviors, biological explanations are divided into four categories: physiological, ontogenetic, evolutionary, and functional explanations. Normal, everyday behaviors, however, are not applied to these categories as they are considered to be common sense activities (Kalat, 2013). To explain how each of these groupings relate to a specified behavior, consider the manner in which the practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tomasello Vaish (2013) present the idea that cooperative behaviors gradually advanced through a two steps progression. The first being that the environment forced humans to act cooperatively in order to survive, such as the necessity for group foraging practices. The second step they believe was established from competition between other groups, making human cooperation a necessity to have an advantage against other by community collaboration as far as skills and motivations. Essentially, the behavior of cooperation continues throughout generations of populations because it has proved to be effective and that working together as a community accomplishes much more than individual ... • 37. The Second Great Awakening And The Second Great Awakening During the Jacksonian Era, the Second Great Awakening grew immensely in popularity in the United States. This return to religion brought along not only religious zeal but also the urge to achieve reform in various areas of American life. The religious revivals that took place during this movement had a major effect on the culture of the United States. This is so because it caused many new religions to branch off of Protestantism. Baptists, Methodists, and Congregationalists are a few of the many examples of these emergent religions. One man in particular, Aaron Lummus, describes the story of how he was converted to Methodism and how much it affected him: My heart was filled with a calm peace, which I never felt before (Lummus 4 11). His story shows just how powerful the conversions affected these people and how the newly converted could use their religious fervor to impact others and the US. Lummus himself later became one of many Methodist ministers, all of whom converted many others during this period. Many of these newly formed Protestant religions are still active today, showing how significantly this movement affected the US even in present day. The Second Great Awakening greatly expanded upon the First Great Awakening. It did so by bringing Americans back to the faith after a period of straying from a religion. However, both movements revived religion in different ways. The First Great Awakening mainly utilized fear in order to convert people by saying that if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Business Management At The Ecole Des Hautes Etudes... Two weeks ago, I received my admission at the École des hautes études commerciales of Montreal. As I chose to go in business management, I will probably have to deal with employees, hiring and firing some. Thus, I started questioning myself on that. When you have such a short meeting with someone, how can you know if a person is right for the job? Of course, the first impression can influence your choice but then, it would only be based on their appearance not on their competencies. For example, if a women walks in with dirty pink hair and smells bad but has an interesting CV, should it influence my decision in hiring that person? Wouldn t that be discrimination? Nobody should be discriminated for a job for their global appearance or style. However, having employees that have a particularly marginal look can affect the company s image. It is better to avoid that because a good corporate image is hard to build and it is related to a lot of different elements. It has a major impact on the business and translates better money entries and higher stock valuation. It is indeed the manager s job to try to make sure the corporate image takes the right direction by communications, brand selection and promotion, use of symbols in advertising etc. Corporations trying to shape their image are analogous to individuals who will dress appropriately, cultivate courteous manners, and choose their words carefully in order to come across competent, likeable, and reliable. In the personal as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
