2. The Impact Of Poverty In The Bean Trees
Families all over the world experience struggles such as poverty that could lead to depression,
but if you have the perseverance like Taylor in The Bean Trees, you can successfully survive in
society. Taylor deals with some of the worst situations a person could have thrown at them, but she
manages to deal with these issues, while providing for herself and her child. Many families all
over America experience poverty, and the ones who are most affected are the children.
The impact of poverty on families can affect a child s growth and development. Poverty and the
Effects on parents and Children, Nagel states, Families in poverty, when parents are working, are
influenced by the kind of occupations in which the parents work. Kohn has found that lower
class parents look at their children s behavior with a focus on its immediate consequences and its
external characteristics, whereas middle class parents explore their children s motives and the
attitudes expressed by their behavior. Growing up with negative and disciplinary parents, it can
impact a child s moral and emotional growth through life. Children grow up by the examples and
actions of their progenitor, and if they have meager parents then they may grow up to be just like
them. Another study conducted by the U.S. Department of Education found that for every year a
child spends in poverty, there is the chance that the child will fall behind grade level by age 18.

4. Similarities Between Anne Bradstreet And Society
Correlations Between Anne Bradstreet s Poems and Society Today
The name Anne Bradstreet may not be as infamous to some ears as the name Virginia Woolf or
Mary Shelley, but her influence on the inclusion of women in a predominantly male society prevails
nonetheless and reigns just as prominent as other women of her time. Anne Bradstreet was a
devoted wife and mother, who was also bound by the impediments of being a Puritan woman. In
fact, she summited herself to her husband and demonstrates her perpetual affection toward her
children in her poem In Reference to Her Children . In her work The Prologue , Bradstreet does not
request complete gender equality, but suggests women obtain acknowledgment for their work.

In the Christian Bible, it is deemed inappropriate to engage in intercourse before marriage. Like
Bradstreet, there are deterrents that withhold people in today s society from engaging in activities
that they desire. However, despite her position in American society, Bradstreet s brother in law,
John Woodbridge, arranged for a collection of her poems called The Tenth Muse to be published in
London, and Bradstreet became America s first published poet (Gilbert 145). Such an achievement
is well deserved by someone as intellectual and fervent as Bradstreet.
Her poem In Reference to Her Children embodies a more emotional tone than The Prologue .
Bradstreet personifies birds to metaphorically represent all eight of her children and elaborates
on her role as a mother when her children start their own lives as adult. In fact, the poem is an
exceptional depiction of motherhood for her children all embarked on separate paths, and
Bradstreet expresses her undying love and worry regarding her children, which are feelings
most mothers endure when their children depart. In regards to her children facing the dangers
of the world, she writes, Whilst pecking corn and void of care, they fall un wares in fowler s snare,
or whilst on trees they sit and sing, some untoward boy at them do fling, or whilst allured with bell
and glass, the net be spread, and caught, alas, or lest by lime twigs they be foiled, or by some
greedy hawks be spoiled

6. Summary Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Zack and I met when I was four and he was seven. I was playing in my front yard when he rolled
down the street on his bike. He was a fairly scrawny boy with short dirty blond hair, and bright
green eyes. His teeth would have been perfectly straight if not for the massive gap his two front
teeth left when they freed themselves from his face. It was pretty obvious there was an age
difference between us, but he stopped anyway and introduced himself briefly then went about his
business patrolling the neighborhood on his little Superman bike. From that point on we saw each
other in passing but never really became good friends until one summer about two years later.
All the other neighborhood kids had left for the summer so we were the only two smaller kids still
around. We decided it would be fun if we went down to the usual hangout spot for all the children in
the neighborhood, the woods down behind the community swimming pool. The pool was catty
corner to my house, so I was just waiting in my front yard for Zach to walk the distance of the
two houses that separated my yard and his. We met up in front of the cherry tree in my side yard
then proceeded to walk down the street towards the pool. Along the length of the street was a
fenced in yard that inclosed six of the most obnoxious dogs that ever walked the face of the Earth.
Three of the dogs were small yappy little things, one of them was a midsize mut, and the last two
were fairly large jet black canines with a vendetta

9. Theme Of Loss Of Innocence In Frankenstein
As people gain new experiences different losses of innocence come along with that, this is shown in
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Throughout the book innocence plays a big role in the
characterization of Frankenstein, the monster and most of the other characters in the book. But, as
tragedies in the book occur they also symbolize losses of innocence in both the monster and
Frankenstein. As these losses of innocence occur the reader begins to realize that each of them also
seems to symbolize another loss of innocence but one that is just under the surface of literal
meanings. One of the common double losses of innocence is all of the deaths that occur in the
book. While examining the characterization and the deaths of Elizabeth and Justine, the reader
comes to realize that all of those deaths symbolize the loss of innocence. Through these deaths, it is
shown that Frankenstein and the monster continued to lose their innocence until it is nonexistent.
All throughout Justine s imprisonment and death, Shelley plays with the idea of innocence versus
guilt. When William is killed Justine who is portrayed as an innocent bystander is convicted of
the crime. When she is arrested everyone is confused because no one believes that she could
have done this. This is because everyone sees her as cute and innocent. Who is safe , if she is to
be convicted of crime? I rely on her innocence as certainly as i do upon my own (81). Even most of
the characters believe that she is innocent but,

10. Creativity And Imagination And Creativity
Creativity is a form of problem solving that needs to be applied in cases in which neither the form
of the solution nor the path to it are clear (Grolier Educational 143). Creativity surrounds everyday
life because it is innovation and ability to learn the unknown. Although creativity and imagination
are a necessity in society, not everyone can be creative . Certain factors play a role in determining
whether a student could be creative; however, these factors could be unpredictable and not
completely guarantee a child s creativeness. Psychologist have created tests that are able to
understand creativitybetter and study creativeness. Even though results can be inconsistent, patterns
have arose that have interested psychologist trying to determine what factors into creativity. For
example, intelligence does seem to play a role in creativity; however, there is no clear ratio for
someone s intelligence to their creativity, and only a certain amount of intelligence is required to be
creative. Studies have proven that that people with mental illnesses have a higher chance of being
creative than someone who does not. Although, studies have also come to determine that students
in a judge free and diverse environment increased chances of having creativity and imagination.
Even though creativity presents a difficult task of pinning what contributes to the creativity in
students, patterns have discovered that having a mental illness and being exposed to a independent
environment

11. Poetry Of Yeats s Poetry
Personally, I would have to strongly disagree with this statement as I find his poems interesting

his unique style and impressive language skills. I believe that his poems are a reflection of his
own life... An interesting and influential one that faced rejection from Maude Gonne, creating the
Abbey theatre in Dublin and winning the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. I feel that he
captures a calm atmosphere in his nature poems using onomatopoeia and with a unique style
which draws me in as a reader. Yeats also portrays a powerful message in his political poems and
conveys his thoughts and emotions when he utilises clever similes coupled with alliteration or
assonance. The poems that I have studied are The Lake Isle of Innisfree , The Wild Swans at

remarkably conveys this through conjuring the most vivid images possible and paints a picture

Ghana that we will take on a project to help develop and educate these young graduates on how
to start a business or find a job. There are many good things that can happen in Ghana which can
affect many African countries and the rest of the world. Ghana is known for its rich natural
resources (gold, diamond, cocoa and oil) but with all that, the country is still struggling to create
jobs for its citizens. This is because the resources are not developed before being exported out of
the country. The country is losing money because they don t have the industries and companies to

and help boost the economy. Booming economies always attract foreign investors and in turn even
more jobs will be created which will help the young graduates get jobs. Our company has all the

13. John Ross And Mill s Utilitarianism And Ross Essay
Introduction:
Mill s Utilitarianism and Ross Intuitionalism both use moral intuitions as core components of their
moral theories, though their valuation of these intuition in making morally sound decisions
differ. I will argue that it is this mis valuation of moral intuition in Utilitarian tradition that makes
the moral theory unstable and prone to criticism. Ross deontological approach to moral
intuitions provides a more believable, and morally acceptable account of the role these intuitions
play in making ethical decisions. In this paper I will begin with underlying both Ross and Mill s
valuation of moral intuitions in the framework of their moral theories, followed by a brief
explanation of each philosophers view of what makes an act moral . Having established these I
will, with the aid of an anecdote about a child and a sled, describe my difficulties with Mill s
utilitarian approach to ethics. Finishing with an assessment of some utilitarian complaints about
Ross theory. Ultimately Utilitarianism provides a commendable theory for widely applicable and
practical moral action, but it s inability to address conflicts with strong moral intuitions weakens it s
argument leading me to favor that of Ross more flexible, yet not relativistic, intuitionalism.
i) The Value of Moral Intuitions:
Both Ross and Mill recognize the existence of what one might call a prima facie duty ( or virtue),
this being an action that is intuitively deemed morally right

After several biochemical tests, Unknown Bacteria #30 was identified as Staphylococcus aureus.
After growing the bacteria on Nutrient Agar to ensure a pure sample, it was Gram stained to

Then, the bacteria was inoculated onto a Mannitol Salt Agar plate. After incubation, it was
observed to have bacterial growth and the agar was yellow in color. According to the lab manual

selective for salt tolerant bacteriaand the phenol red allows MSA to differentiate for mannitol
fermentation. Mannitol fermentation is indicated by a yellow color change, which is the result of
acidic byproducts changing the pH of the agar. The results showed that the bacteria was both salt

What is brand personality?
As defined by Aaker (1997), brand personality refers to the set of human characteristics
associated with a brand. Aaker assumes that the brands are the same with the human personality
or character, and the brand personality is created when a consumer attached his or her
personality like character to a specific brand. According to Hawkins, et al (2001), brand personality
can be considered as what type of person the brand would be if it were human and what it would do

how a person understands and acts on different issues. These skills are transformed into signals

The Lord Supper was established to help us remember what Christ has done for our salvation.
All who are going to partake of the Lord s supper should examine themselves first and deal with
any problems and difficulties that they have in their hearts and life. The celebration must be set
apart from the pagan festival, and each person must be conscious of what happening as they
partake. The Lord supper is an unsophisticated ceremony, where believers can meet and partake of
bread and wine, it is a sacred act of thanksgiving communion and remembrance. Furthermore, it is a
sacrament that should be received repeatedly where continuing fellowship with God and his people
can be obtained. As we participate in the Lord s supper then the past becomes the present and we
are sharing in the once and for all sacrifice of Calvary but that is not all it is also predicting the
future fulfilment of Christ returning. The significance of cognitive awareness in connection with
receiving what the sacrament is conveying can be seen in the numerous ways that Christians have
understood the rituals. Throughout history, between the different Christians denominations there
has been much dispute over the different understandings of the Lord s supper. The two statements
that have caused major problems are in Luke 22:17 22 where Christ declared to the Apostles Do
this in Remembrance of Me , and in Mark 14:26 29 where Christ states that his body is the

My interpretation of the two poems, And Death Shall Have No Dominion and Do Not Go Gentle
into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas, significantly align with the view that there is an inherent
tension between life and death which is explored through imagery in Dylan Thomas poetry. This is
because of the ideas explored in the poems, deathshould have no dominion/control/authority and
that death is the fate of all humans. Dylan Thomas illustrates these ideas by using poetic techniques,
including imagery.

The idea of death being the fate of all humans is expressed in this poem, it depicts the tension
between life and death. Dylan Thomas uses parallelism, symbolism and oxymorons to express
this idea. Dylan Thomas illustrates the idea of death being the fate of all humans by using
parallelism. Thomas uses parallelism in each stanza when naming the type of men; wise men,
good men, wild men and grave men. Thomas states that all these men will fall into death in the
end. The symbolism here expresses the idea of death being the fate for all humans. The line Old
age should burn and rave close of day symbolises the idea. This is because close of day
symbolises death and old age is a metonymy. The use of poetic devices here creates vivid images
of life and death. In the last stanza, Thomas knows that death is the fate of his father, Curse, bless,
me now with with your fierce tears, I pray. The two oxymorons here cure, bless and fierce tears
give enrichment to the tension of life and death. The inherent tension between life and death is
explored throughout Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night due to the idea of death being the
fate of all humans and the techniques

29. Innovation No More
It seems we have lost the ability to innovate. We do not think the way we used to; we do not
invent new concepts or ideas, rather we just adapt ideas of the past. Our thinking now a day is
very limited to what we have already created.
Google s definition of innovating, make changes in something established, esp. by introducing new
methods, ideas, or products, suggests that innovation is now just development of an old idea. In this
definition there seems to be no mention of inventing but rather only the alteration of a product in a
way never done before. It s not that the alteration of a product is bad thing but it does create a very
limited thinking world; a world that relies on the blueprints of the past to create a future.
So have we really lost our ability to innovate? Not really, it s just that innovation has become merely
focused on technology. It seems like technology will be the future. That future will involve people
innovation of past ideas and not trying anything new due to the fear of failing. That innovation will
mostly focus on technology which can help to make money.
The novel Oryx and Crake which is based on the future shows somewhat of the real future and
what it will be like. In this science fiction novel, we are treated to a very limited thinking world in
which the main concern is technology and money. There are some technological advances evident
in this novel but not ones which are comprehensive or mind boggling. For example, there is a lot of

30. The Pedestrian By Leonard Mead
The Light in the Dark In any given situation, individuals experience conflicts when pursuing a
personal desire as particular desires do not conform to the rules that societies standardize for
individuals. Individuals quickly adapt to the modernization of the advancement of humanity and
technology. Nevertheless, there may be a controversy deciding between obeying society s
regulations of consistently keeping up with the innovative contemporary behaviour or sticking with
subjective or independent aspirations. In the short story The Pedestrian by Ray Bradbury, Leonard
Mead s complication between pursuing his personal desire and choosing to conform creates an
issue with the development as an individual. Symbols within the story that further highlighted the
distinct difference between personal desires and deciding to conform include Mr. Mead s shoes,
television, and the houses. Moreover, each symbol that was stated demonstrates a diverse
idiosyncratic characteristic about the protagonist as does the psychological components of Mr.
Mead such as word choice, speech, behaviour and mental processes. However, throughout the story,
the protagonist, Mr. Leonard Mead is exemplified through a third person limitedpoint of view as it
gradually illuminates the understanding that society s need for conformation and an individual s
needs may produce a consequential disagreement of discrepancy. Ray Bradbury s short story

31. Essay about Naturalism in The House of Mirth
Naturalism in The House of Mirth
Challenging the strict deterministic confines of literary naturalism, which hold that the human
being is merely one phenomenon in a universe of material phenomena (Gerard 418), Edith Wharton
creates in The House of Mirth a novel which irrefutably presents the human creature as being
subject to a naturalistic fate but which conveys a looming sense of hope that one may triumph over
environment and circumstance if one possesses a certain strength of will or a simple faith in human
possibility.
Because of Wharton s slight deviation from naturalistic conventions, a literary debate exists among
critics as to the validity of viewing The House of Mirth as a novel which embodies ... Show more

Making this theme uniquely hers, however, is Wharton s creation of two characters who are
exceptions to the seemingly ubiquitous law of social determinism (Gerard 410). These characters,
Nettie Struther and Lawrence Selden, one triumphing over her environment through sheer will, the
other transcending it through faith in human possibility, create a small tear in the formidable fabric
of strict naturalism, thus engendering a hope for the triumph of the human spirit.
Edith Wharton develops Lady Bart as a character who is a product of her environment, preyed upon
by circumstance and fate. Lily s name, referring to a highly ornamental flower, immediately
creates the image of a delicate creature who is grown in the rich soils of society and who, if
uprooted from this societal soil, would wither and perish. Lily, as any living organism, is not
simply a static figure in her environment. Instead, she is a true naturalistic character, responsive
and subject to the conditions of her surroundings. For example, when Lily and Selden meet at
Bellomont, Lily s beauty expanded like a flower in sunlight (108) and, her face turned toward him
with the soft motion of a flower (109). Thus, although it can be argued that Lily is not a naturalistic
character because of Wharton s emphasis on

County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of
all ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are

Impacts of Industrialization
Industrialization is the system in which a country goes from a primarily agricultural state into one

However, the expansion of cities and factories did not have such a great effect. Throughout the

Globally, such business combinations have involved various sizes of companies as well as assets
and have cut across economic sectors. While many business combinations have been well received
by parties involved, other have done so with stiff resistance often resulting in long battles to prevent
the combinations.
With the latest CBN regulation and the systematic withdrawal of Federal funds from the banks, a
lot of banks are on the brink of extinction. As a result of this a lot of banks are now either going
public or trying to position themselves as banks of choice for possible merger or acquisition by
other banks. This new development would also impact on employment, as most top management
would be affected and other young staff would be thrown into the labour market in the bid to have
the required number of directors by the regulatory authorities and on the economy at large.
In Nigeria today, a number of banks wanting to merge may run into difficulties, because most
Nigeria banks are not quoted on the stock exchange and the assets of some are really bad. The
effect of the merger is that merging banks in the country, under the current dispensation may lose
their licenses and be issued new ones to reflect the new consolidated outfit. As we go on in the
subsequent chapters, further critical look shall be taken on the effect that this development is likely
to or will have on the Nigeria banking industry and the economy at large.

my interest in the medical field.Skimming through their textbooks amazed me on how the human
body is so complex yet so captivating. Getting accepted to Hillcrest High School s Pre Med
Program made me ecstatic. The rigorous science and advanced mathematics courses were
beginning to prepare me for my future endeavours. My academic interest in becoming a doctor
was evident, but soon, there was an emotional connection. August 31, 2015 is a day I will never
forget. My mom had just gotten into a car accident; there were a million thoughts and emotions
rushing through me. Arriving at the hospital, I was scared but anxious to see her. When I
walked into the room, tears immediately came to my eyes seeing her in a neck brace. Initially, I
thought she was in stable condition because she only complained only about a slight back pain.
What happened a few moments after she said those words will never be erased from my mind.
My mother had a seizure right before my eyes. The doctors rushed in as I remained speechless; it
felt as if everything around me was moving but I could not hear a thing. It was a tough night

44. Pythagoras Essay
Pythagoras
My name is Pythagoras of Samos. I believe I should win the fabulous two week cruise on the
incomparable Argo because I dedicated my life to educating and caring for the future
generations. I risked my life to share my knowledge with anyone who wanted to learn. I was
born on the island of Samos, but lived most of my life in Crotona, Italy. When I was a young
man, I traveled to many different places to observe the different lifestyles and cultures. Some of
the countries I visited were India, Egypt, and Persia (Bulfinch). After viewing many different
aspects of life I developed my philosophies and beliefs. My most important philosophy is that

I am most famous for discovering the Pythagorean Theorem, which solves the length of the
hypotenuse of a right triangle. Use the equation aВІ + bВІ = cВІ, where a and b are the two sides

meet a Greek god or goddess I would undoubtedly choose Apollo. Apollo has many great
characteristics and I think we could be good friends if we talked with each other. One reason
why I want to meet him is because I am interested in seeing what he looks like. In books they say
he is the most beautiful god represented by the color gold. He also has a golden chariot with
golden horses which I want to ride. Another reason is that he is the god of things that I m
interested in like music, mathematics, and medicine (Bernard Evslin 37). He is also a very
thoughtful and kindhearted god. The main reason I want to meet him is that he owns an oracle
that can tell the future and even though I have clairvoyant powers at this moment, I want to ask
him if he will let me borrow his oracle just in case if I lose my powers (Ellen Switzer 26). I asked
the Oracle of Mother Earth to tell me how modern Greece was dealing with its current political
problems. She said that Greece s prime minister was trying to resolve the Kosovo problem by
talking with both political forces. The prime minister felt that fighting and war was not the

The media plays a considerable role in the political world. The media gives people access to be
able to determine which political party they want to be a part of, develop outlooks on government
parties and decisions, and manage their own personal interests. The newspaper, TV, radio, social
media, and other online media, are one of the leading factors, if not thee leading factor in political
communication and fund raising. The media s influence on the political world has shattered the
mold in terms of the way politics are shown. Mass mediahas such a powerful structure that enables
politicians to reach a large scale audience (Croteau Hoynes 2014). The purpose of this essay is to
look at how politicians use the media in order to influence their audience as they try to validate their
credibility with the public.
The influence of the media is more prominent during political campaigns because news coverage of
a single event could turn out to be the most significant factor in putting a candidate ahead. In fact,
most national political figures, plan public appearances and statements to increase their influence
throughout the media. Often times, candidates and their consultants consume much of their time
developing strategies and plans to get the most impact on their television audience. Advertising,
management of news coverage, and campaign debates are often the types of coverage that political
candidates use. The appearance of candidates in presidential debates is as important

This is for the simple reason that the more respect an attorney has in a court, the better his or her
chances of negotiating with the judge (to rule on critical motions in your favor) will be. Thirdly,
experience is key. Always go for a lawyer who has many years of experience. The more
experienced your criminal defense attorney has, the more suited they will be at analyzing your

Many old Nepalese, Bhutanese people wish to go back to Bhutan.
Why do these people wish to go back to their motherland, Bhutan? By the end of 1990, people
who lived in the southern part of Bhutan were forced to leave their land. They started to move in
Nepal and lived in there for almost 19 years as refugees in refugee camp. Bhutanese had dream to
go back to their own country, but their dream remained unfulfilled. The Bhutanese government
prevented Nepalese, Bhutanese people from entering in Bhutan. Their journey of third country
resettlement begins when Nepalese government also refused to give citizenship of Nepal as they
claimed they are poor country. Many Bhutanese people lose their hopes of returning back to Bhutan
and decided to immigrate to the United States with the help of International Organization and
Immigration agency in Nepal. Culture, religion, and land were the most important reasons for
them, but the Bhutanese government did not let them in.
Bhutanese people wish to return to Bhutan because they want to practice their own culture. Many
old Bhutanese people follow their culture strictly under any circumstances. For example, old
Bhutanese people have not forgotten to follow their culture eventhough it has been more than

49. Federal Funding For Public Broadcasting
The purpose of this paper is to explore the pros and cons of the proposal to eliminate federal
funding to The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). In doing so, first we will explore
several facets of this issue including first the cost of funding from both a governmental and
taxpayer perspective. Secondly, understanding the services provided and the audience served is
integral in this discussion. Lastly, we will consider government s role in media and education. The
conversation, however, must start with the history, values, and goals of this organization.
It was The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 (Public Broadcasting Act of 1967), signed into law by
then President Lyndon Johnson, which created CPB, a private nonprofit corporation. ... Show more

1970. Another childhood favorite, Sesame Street, which first aired in 1969, and All Things
Considered which premiered in 1971. Considering the turbulent times of that era, the support of this

Sun Tzu s The Art of War in World War II During the Spring and Autumn Period (771 B.C.E. 406
B.C.E.) of Chinese history, the Zhou dynasty began to face opposition from several competing
warlords and dynasties. In the midst of this conflict emerged the Wu general, Sun Wu, later titled
Sun Tzu. He was the most innovative military officers of his time and his techniques and
stratagem were transcribed into The Art of War which was later revised and became the most
important military text in the ensuing Warring States Period. As such, it became the most
influential piece of miliary thought in Asia and with the advent of the 20th century and increased
wars between the East and West, it gradually became the most important military text in the
world, replacing another text entitled Art of War written during the Renaissance by Niccolo
Machiavelli. One of the first wars in which both sides used Sun Tzu s text, was World War II.
The principles outlined in The Art of War, became ingrained in the tactics of the American,
British, German and Russian armies following World War I and the Russo Japanese War. The
tactics in outlined in The Art of War were used in many major battles in World War II in both
theaters of combat, leading it to become the one of the most, if not the most influential piece of
military work in history. The Second Sino Japanese War, which is considered by many to be an

51. The And Justice For All
With liberty and justice for all . These are the 6 words that conclude the pledge of allegiance of
our United States. This is what our nation was built upon: liberty and justice. Justice is the just
behavior (insert dictionary source here) or treatment that one may receive or give. To be just is
to be fair and righteous and this righteousness is the quality of being morally right (insert
dictionary source here). For someone to be shot in cold blood and the killer not have any
consequence goes against all morality. As an adult we have the cognitive ability to decipher
between right and wrong or good and bad behavior and know that if we violate these expectations
we need to be held accountable for our actions. Social Justice is fairness within a society. Fairness
with in a society or community is making sure everything is equal within that given society or
community. Distribution of wealth is really important. The top 10% of the community can t have
more money than the bottom 90% combined. There has to be fairness in opportunity that is
provided within the community. If one given population is allowed to partake in something or are
given the opportunity to better their lives than all the other given populations need to have that
same fair opportunity as well. The same goes for privilege. It s not fair when there are special
rights and advantages given out that will help a particular group but disadvantage another. Making
sure there are equal social rights

55. Hills Like White Elephants By Ernest Hemingway
Hills Like White Elephants, short story by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1927 in the periodical
transition and later that year in the collection Men Without Women. The themes of this sparsely
written vignette about an American couple waiting for a train in
Spain are almost entirely implicit. The story is largely devoid of plot and is notable for its use of
irony, symbolism, and repetition. (Encyclopedia Britannica). The Short Storybrings the read into a
discussion, between a man and a girl. They go back and forth about trying to make a decision in
their relationship. Some say Hemingway gives the reader very little in insight, and leaves the
reader somewhat baffled. Hemingway gives us a glimps into a conversation that might be the
hardest thing the couple has ever faced in their relationship. They are discussing weather or not the
girl should have a procedure, and abortion.
The setting of the short story takes place in the 1920 s in Spain, at a Train station.
The American, the male in the story expresses how hot it is outside. The American and the girl
sit and drink beers outside, where there is no shade. The couple sits and drinks it seems they are
drinking to pass time but to also not bring up the issues at hand the procedure. they look like
white elephants says the girl. I believe this is a metaphor. The man says I ve never seen one and
brushes the girls comment aside. The man and the girls seems to be having a bit of a disagreement.

56. Fingerprint Analysis In Criminal Investigation
Every day, individuals touch countless objects and each time an object is touched an individual s
fingerprints are left behind. For more than one hundred years, fingerprint analysis has been used by
law enforcement to identify suspects in order to solve crimes. One of the most important uses of
fingerprint analysis is to assist investigators when they need to link two crimescenes to the same
individual. Fingerprintanalysis also assist investigators with obtaining an individual s criminal
record and any previous arrest they have had. A fingerprint is an impression left by the friction
ridges of an individual s finger. Fingerprints can be easily deposited on surfaces such as glass,
polished stone, and metal. They are easily deposited by sweat from eccrine glands that are present
in the epidermal ridges of individuals fingers. These are also known as Chanced Impressions.

57. Human And Human Differences In Humans
In Humans as well as other species we can see some obvious differences between males and
females. Differences such as the development of a penis or vagina, muscle mass, body size, the
distribution of fat and the amount of distribution of body hair are all the differences that can be
observed in Humans. These differences are a result of a long chain of events that begin during the
early phases of embryology. It Involves Complex interaction between the environment and gene
expression.
Chromosomes
Being male or female is determined in stages beginning at fertilization when the sex chromosomes
carried by the sperms meet the egg. Females have XX chromosomes and Males have XY
chromosomes. Having XX females and XY males provides a genetic framework for developmental
events that eventually give us Male or female appearance. The formation of reproductive structures
we see in Males and females depend on several factors, this includes gene action and interaction
within the embryo. Interactions with other embryos that may be in the uterus. As mentioned this
process is not straightforward, having XX and XY does not always mean that individual is either
male or female. The outcome depends on the distribution of genes on the X and Y chromosome. All
eggs that are produced by females carry the X chromosomes, in males about half of the mature
sperms curry the X chromosomes. An egg that is fertilized by a sperm that has the X
chromosomes will have XX Zygote and will develop into a female

58. Wallis Simpson Essay
American socialite Wallis Simpson, the woman for whom Edward VIII gave up the throne in
1936, is variously portrayed as a greedy snob, a sexual predator or part of the romance of the
century. A complex figure emerges: a strong willed woman, hungry for independence, but caught
up in a situation she could not control. Mrs. Wallis Simpson has become an emotional figure in
history. Along with this, many descriptions of her personality and motives for being with Edward
have caused some extremely negative descriptions; the nicer ones range from witch to seductress.
