Israel Geography
Geography
The area of Israel is approximately 22.1 m2, 97 percent of which is a land area. It is about 470
kilometres long and 135 kilometres wide in the widest point of the country. (Israel Ministry of Foreign
Affairs)
It is surrounded on the south by the Sinai Peninsula, on the east by the Mediterranean Sea and on the
west by the Dead Sea. It has borders with Lebanon on the north, Syria on the northeast, Jordan on the
east, Egypt on the southwest and the Mediterranean Sea on the west. (Israel Ministry of Foreign
Affairs)
Due to its small size, the different types of landscape are located very close to each other. Israel could
be subdivided into four geographical regions: three strips running north to south and an extensive area
with mostly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Golan Heights in the northeast, which were in the distant past formed by volcanic eruptions,
appear as sharp cliffs overlooking the Hula Valley. They are considered to be one of the most beautiful
parts of Israel. The hills of Galilee that are mostly consisting of limestone and dolomite are one of
Israelis main tourist centres. Agriculture, tourism and light industry are the most common means of
livelihood in these regions. (Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
Climate
Climate in Israel is partly temperate and partly tropical, with plenty of sunshine throughout the year.
Six months long rainy winter period, which lasts from November to May and six months long dry
summer are the prevailing seasons. Most areas suffer from a lack of rainfall, but quite large amounts
of rainfall occur on the north and in the centre of the country. (Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
Climatic conditions are changing a lot depending on the type of landscape. There are humid summers
and moderate winters near the sea, dry summers and cool winters in the mountain areas (including
Jerusalem), tropical summers and mild winters in the Jordan Valley and very hot desert climate in the
Negev throughout the year. At higher altitudes, there can be occasional snowfalls in the winter season
and very hot dry winds in spring and autumn. (Israel Ministry of Foreign

Petroecuador (Ecuador) and Sinopec (China) Oil Joint Venture
Petroecuador (Ecuador) and Sinopec (China) Oil Joint Venture
Petroecuador and Sinopec agreed to create a Joint Venture that was supposed to be a big opportunity
for both, the Latin American and the Asian country. These two companies are different in many ways,
especially in the size of their profitability and technology development.
Sinopec International Petroleum belongs to Sinopec Corp., which is one of the largest integrated
energy and chemical companies in China. It business mainly covers oil and gas activities. It is China s
largest producer and supplier of refined oil products by annual volume processed and major
petrochemical products and its second largest crude oil producer, following Petrochina. In 2007 it was

The president is the one taking the decisions, but he has a person of trust that knows about the area
and can give reasonable and appropriate advises.
The United States and the small intern governments of Ecuador can be considered as interested
observers. The United States is interested in this because in the last years the countries of Latin
America has been doing what the United States asked them to do and they were in some level their
servants because of the power and the dependency they had o the big supremacy. The United States
won t be please to realize that a new emerging powerful economy is entering in those places where
they had a main power. The small governments in Ecuador are also interested observers; because
owing to the fact that Petroecuador is a state owned company, the profits it gains are suppose to be
redistribute to the country in shape of public works.
The process of the negotiation consisted in meetings between the minister of non renewable natural
resources of Ecuador and about twenty Chinese business representatives of Sinopec in Quito, the
capital of Ecuador. The purposes of these meetings were to determinate the common goals and the
outcome of the negotiation for each party. This agreement was signed when the chair of he National
Committee of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference, Jia Qinglinf visited Quito. In this

Comparing Wanderer, The Wife s Lament And The Seafarer
Exile is commonly seen in Anglo Saxon literature, specifically the poems: The Wanderer, The Wife s
Lament, and The Seafarer. All three poems deal with the idea of losing something and missing the
something so much it pains them to think about it. Although in many cases, the person experiencing
exile has nothing to do but think about their exile. In The Wanderer, the speaker has lost all of his
kinsman over time. He feels exiled by his misery, grievous disasters, and death of kin and he is weary
of exile. It is physically straining for him to feel this way everyday, but he cannot do anything about it.
He recounts how some of his companion s died saying one a bird bore over the billowing sea; one the
grey wolf slew; one a grieving earl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is sent to live underneath an oak tree in the middle of the woods and must bear her husband s
anger everyday. In the first stanza, the woman says the pain she feels now is much more painful than
anything else she has felt in her life. I a woman tell what griefs I had since I grew up new or old never
more than now. This is the woman s form of exile. Often we vowed that but death alone would part us
two naught else. When her and her husband first got married she believed they would never be parted,
but circumstances got in the way. Her husband s kinsman plotted to separate them and succeeded. She
misses not only her loved one, but also her young naivety about love. I grieved each dawn wondered
where my lord my first on Earth might be. She feels thrown away without her love beside her and
remembers each morning at dawn. She says her old friends are sleeping soundly in their beds and she
is walking by herself alone through these earth halls. She describes the place she is exiled to as dark
and overgrown from lack of care, which can be used to describe how she feels as well. She ends the
lyric by wishing her husband to feel the same pain she feels everyday. He remembers too often a

Activation Rate Law
Abstract. The objective of this work was to determine the activation energy and rate law for the
reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium shot. An analysis of the reaction s initial rate at
varying molarities of hydrochloric acid and masses of magnesium shot, along with the method of
initial rates was used to determine the rate law for the reaction; rate = k (SA of Mg)a [H+]b. It was
hypothesized that the reaction would be second order overall. After determining the rate law, the
activation energy was determined by changing the temperature at which the reaction took place. Using
the rate constants calculated at the two different temperatures, the activation energy was calculated. It
was found, experimentally through the method of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the reaction
because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick enough. Not being
able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law because the graph of pressure
versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in which the reactants could be mixed
with the pressure probe already in place would yield much more accurate results because the change
in pressure would be higher which would cause the initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in
the experiment was keeping the temperature of the trial in the ice bath consistent. If the temperature of
the HCl changed from when it was measure to when the reaction took place, the activation energy
calculations would have had increased error. Because the HCl was still sitting in the ice bath, if the
actual temperature was colder that what we calculated, the activation energy would have been
lowered. For future experiments, the temperature of the HCl should be recorded as soon to when the
Mg shot is added as possible, or the experiment could be run in a temperature controlled

The Deer Hunter Monologue
DIALOGUE
Although the film relies heavily on location, cinematography and music to tell the
story, it is the dialogue that gives it its humanity. When Mike returns home and sees Linda
for the first time she hugs Mike, tells him she is happy he is back yet she pauses and says
I don t know how I feel . This perfectly describes everyones state of mind at this point in the
story. Mike is asked how it feels to be shot. He responds It don t hurt if that s what you mean .
It was a strange question and an odd response. Of course it hurts if you are shot, but I think he
was trying to convince both his friends and himself that he wasn t mentally affected by the war.
Film critic Roger Ebert commented The Deer Hunter is far from flawless, ... Show more content on

The Deer Hunter deals with the ramifications
of war but is it a war movie. The answer is yes and no. Relatively little time is devoted
to war footage, seemingly the director believes that we are intuitively aware of what
a war looks like and focuses instead on the human toll of war. It is also difficult, as Mr. Biskind
suggests, to discern what political statement
the filmmaker is trying to make, if any at all. If I had to categorize this film I would call
it a psychological drama. The same film could have been made using any number of
backdrops. The war had ended only three years prior to the making of The Deer
Hunter so it seems logical that Cimino chose the Viet Nam War as his subject. As
important as the movie seemed in 1978, I think the passage of time has dampened
the enthusiasm over its importance. The director s next film, Heavens Gate was
a box office flop. From that moment, critics began to re examine their praise of
The Deer Hunter . Fame can certainly be fleeting.
PERSONAL REACTION
I chose this film for several reasons. I knew very little about the Viet Nam War
and I wanted to know more. Based on the awards the film received and the

The Great Gatsby Passage Analysis
Gatsby Commentary Essay Within the exposition of the story, Fitzgerald introduces the future issues
between economic division of old money to give a background and set the tone for the rest of the
story. The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald discusses the fall and decline of the
American Dream, however this particular passage intends to discuss the economic aspect of old
money and how those who belong to it differ from others. There were great differences between the
high and low class during the time period of The Great Gatsby, and that is particularly seen through
Fitzgerald s use of money. An analysis of the passage not only reveals the intentions to characterize
Tom as bumptious, but further depicts the magnitude of the differences ... Show more content on

Once Tom had made his fortunes, he left Chicago and c[a]me east in a fashion that took your breath
away in order to spend his old money from his family in New York (9 10). In attempt to help fathom
the style and trends of old money, Fitzgerald uses the phrase that took your breath away , which does
in fact describe the lifestyles of Tom and his movements regarding the old money. Similarly to the
magnitude of his spending, Nick also describes Tom s life as steps of drifting for no particular reason,
here and there unrestfully from place to place, not having a purpose. Fitzgerald s archetype of drifting
from place to place, such as Midwest to East, when describing Tom s lifestyle, helps represent what
old money stands for as people like Tom have no sense of purpose with what they do and where they
go. Nick, on the other hand, has a different viewpoint and he says why they came here I don t know ,
because his visions and ideals with new money are very different to those of Tom and old money (12).
Contrasting Tom s ways of spending and drifting, Fitzgerald uses perspective to show contrasting
viewpoints of Nick (new money) and Tom (old money) through his confusion by saying I don t know .
Fitzgerald compares and contrasts the opposing lifestyles of new and old money through the ideas of

Refinancing Your Student Loans
Refinancing your student loans means that a private lender is essentially buying your Federal student
loans, paying them off, and creating a new loan that it will lend to you on new, original terms.
The new terms of your refinanced loan will be based off your credit reports, credit score, and other
requirements. The new private loan terms include, among other things, a new interest rate and
potentially a new term (the length of time over which you have to repay your loan).
For example, you could take your Federal student loans that have a 10 year term and refinance them
into one private loan for 20 years.
If you have the option to extend the term of your student loan when you refinance, you should
consider a number of factors before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, I m a trained corporate attorney with student loan debt. If I was unable to extend the
term of my loan from 10 years to 25 years, then I probably wouldn t have been able to switch career
paths to a financial planner because I had to take a significant pay cut to make the move. Because I
was able to extend the term of my loan and make lower monthly payments, I have much greater job
and career flexibility.
When your monthly student loan payment is lower, you have more options because your debt doesn t
play as significant of a role in your monthly expenses.
Example of extending your student loan term
Assume Amy has $45,000 in Federal student loan debt at 6.0% interest rate on a 10 year, standard
repayment plan. Amy decides to refinance her loans to private loans to get a lower interest rate. Amy
and her lender agree to a new loan with a principal balance of $45,000 at a 4.0% interest rate for a
period of 25 years. Using a simple amortization calculator, I came up with the following calculations:
Amy s term: 25 years (2015 2040)
Amy s monthly payments: $237.53
Total repaid: $71,257.97
Amy pays $16,585.60 more in her total amount repaid by extending her term from 10 years to 25
years (see the example below), but her monthly

Social Construction Of Gender Roles Essay
Gender roles are personality traits, mannerisms, interests, attitudes, and behaviors that are regarded as
either male or female by a person s culture. It has been proven that both genetics and environment
influence the development of gender roles; they are mostly taught while growing up. However, they
may prevent people from conforming to their true gender identities. In fact, if we no longer assigned
genders, then our society would change to be more inclusive. This does not mean that traditional roles
are bad, but more research is needed to discover the influences of genetics and environment on
individual gender roles and in society. Until then, these roles are stopping our society from developing
into a more equal and open minded place. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the majority of women don t stay at home all day, the still have some roles that are
expected of them. They are expected to primarily take care of the children, and make sure the house is
tidy. Social arrangements, such as dinner with friends, are likely to be managed by the wife. Wives are
more likely to initiate discussions about planned vacations. If the kids need to be driven to activities, it
is usually the mother who does the driving. She is also likely to be the one buying clothes for them.
But men also have standards too. They re often in charge of fixing up things in the house or tuning up
the car. Or if someone tosses a ball around with the kids, it is likely to be the father. Most of these little
actions and behaviors aren t done on purpose, they re just habits. The husband might take out the
garbage, carry packages into the house or the grill master. The wife might dress the kids, make plans,
and call family members. This isn t necessarily a bad thing, but it shows how deeply ingrained these

Analysis Of A Clean Well-Lighted Place By Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway is a well known author of many short stories. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois.
He was starting to be known as a good author when he first published his firsts stories. Hemingway
even earned a Nobel Prize in Literature. Eventually, he committed suicide by shooting himself. His
writing remains well known. One story he wrote was called A Clean, Well Lighted Place. Hemingway
wrote this story about an old man who stays late at a cafe where two waiters were working at. The old
man would even stay late when no one else was in the cafe. The waiters, especially the younger one,
were becoming impatient with the old man. The older waiter did not seem to mind much. As the story
goes on, Hemingway gives the reader a good contrast between the waiters. There is also a sense of
depression or abandonment in the story. This story can be seen as a reflection of the impact of age
because of the contrast between the waiters, the loneliness of the old man, and the emphasis of the use
of nada. As someone reads this story, it is clear that there is contrast between the two waiters.
Hemingway writes the dialogue in a way that readers can tell there is an age difference between the
two waiters. The waiters begin to talk about what each of them have. The older waiter is clearly older
because, he says, You have youth, confidence, and a job... (Hemingway 169). The waiters have an age
difference which shows throughout the story. There is another line where the older waiter says,

What Are The Worst Presidents
We have had many presidents in our country s history. The presidents themselves don t last forever,
but their impacts, legacies and memories do.They contributed to generations and future generations.
But nobody is perfect and you can t please everyone so of course in the eyes of some people there
were presidents they believed to be better than others. Not everyone s favorites will be the same. I
myself believe that George Washington, Lyndon B Johnson, and Abraham Lincoln were some of the
best presidents, but however with all good sides there are bad sides like presidency s I believed that
the worst presidents were people like William Henry Harrison, John F. Kennedy, and John Tyler.
However like I said before, everyone will have different rankings of the president s let s see if you

After learning and analysing each presidency, I believe that William Henry Harrison had one of the
worst presidencies. The reason I say this about is Harrison because he obviously got nothing done
during his presidency, of course since he had the shortest presidency. Harrison was only in office for
thirty two days before dying from basically giving the longest inauguration speech and then got a cold.
Harrison s dying like anyone dying was not ideal because after his death, John Tyler who was his vice
president was sworn in as president who was not exactly who we voted for. The people wanted
Harrison, but got someone else before Harrison could do anything. And in all honesty another reason
that I consider him one of the worst presidents is him giving the longest inauguration speech in the
cold, risking his health was not necessary I know he wanted to show his strength to the people, but he
should have found a different way like maybe by doing his job he should have also taken better care of

Examples Of A Gift Etiquette
Sympathy Gift Etiquette
When someone close to you loses a friend or family member, it can be difficult to know the best way
to offer support. Many questions come up: how can we help? What should we do?
Many people traditionally send flowers, plants, and fruit baskets. This is thoughtful and shows you
care. On the other hand, when my sister experienced a death in her family last year, she became
overwhelmed with what to do with all of the flowers that came to the house in the first couple of days,
and then a week later the flowers were dead and she felt so lonely. Like I said, when someone dies,
normal things can become very difficult, often in unexpected ways.
So what is the appropriate etiquette for gift giving for sympathy and funeral occasions? You want to

Send yourself. Be present. It is easier to see what the needs are when you yourself are physically
sharing the hard moments with the bereaved.
2. If you can t be there yourself, this is when flowers, cards, plants, and baskets become more
meaningful. Again, remember that flowers die quickly, and the bereaved will have to throw them
away. Potted plants usually work better they require little maintenance, last a long time and symbolize
hope and peace (Peace Lilies for example).
3. Make a donation in the name of the departed. In my sister s case, when her son died, we ended up
making a donation to a nonprofit that collects the playful drawings of school children and delivers
them to the elderly, shut in, and infirm. We did this to try to share the love he brought into the world
with others less fortunate, even though he was gone.
4. Give the family a permanent keepsake something with the departed s initials, a favorite saying of
theirs, a shadowbox of their most precious belongings, or special photos. For Christmas the year after
my nephew died, my aunt gave the family a toy train in which each car of the train was a letter of his
name. This was very meaningful and the kind of thing that lasts

Motivation Techniques In Remember The Titans
Remember the Titans
In the movie Remember the Titans , there were many instances and techniques of motivation. These
some of the techniques included intrinsic vs. extrinsic, carrot/stick motivation.
The character in Remember the Titans that most exhibited the carrot/stick motivation technique was
the main character, Coach Herman Boone. Coach Boone used this technique early on in the movie
when the players were at camp at Gettysburg College. In an effort to force his players to overcome
their prejudice towards one another, Boone often offered both a carrot and a stick. As a carrot, Boone
offered the team a chance to come together and be a great team. To make history as one of the first and
successful racially integrated football teams in Alexandria Virginia both on and off the field. This
carrot also offered the players the opportunity to meet each other and realize that other than being
from different races, they had a lot in common. Along with the carrot, Boone also implements a stick,
in this case extra practices each day. He states, Until (the players learn about each other), we go to 3 a
day practices. You continue to ignore each other, we ll go to 4 a day practices. This motivational
structure was simple, come together as a team and break down the racial boundaries, or ... Show more

An Efficient Way Transmit Codes
Throughout time the need for an efficient way transmit codes were essential to success, after World
War I and into the start of World War II American forces was running out of ideas for codes. The USA
had always used the white s soldiers for the code talkers because there were easy to train, and a
abundance of them to choose making them the practice choose for code talkers. Until Philip Johnston,
he was an initiator that worked for a Marine Corps program. As a kid and into his teens he grew up on
a Navajo reservation and his dad was a missionary. Whit all the time that Johnston spent of the
reservation he became familiar with the people and their language. With the use of the Navajos it
grained equality for Native Americans which was not found in the late 1800 s, and soon it gained them
a greater respect by the whites into today s age. In the late 1800 s Indians were seen through the eyes
of the settlers as pests, people who occupy the land that rightfully belonged to the whites. They were
thought of as savages. However this was not true, the Navajo Indians and many other tribes were only
willing to fight for their land, families and the property that they have inhabited for hundreds of years
(Robert A. Roessel, 1). In this time of lack of control, Navajos were overpowered by Americans who
were in position of authority and control. This is because Americans lacked the understanding of the
Navajo way, leading to be fatal for many as they were being transferred, resigned,

Doping is a Fool’s Game
All athletes of all sports on a professional level must be required to undergo drug testing for
performance enhancing drugs prior to participating in any sporting event to ensure an equal level
playing field for all competing athletes, no matter the sport. Furthermore, performance enhancing
drugs are illegal and must remain this way in order to keep fairness in the competitive world of sports.
The bottom line is that athletes should not be able to do performance enhancing drugs and continue to
be allowed to performance in these sports. The unfairness of doing these drugs does not allow for a
fair game. Ultimately, these cheating athletes are superior in the field and dominate the other athletes
that do not take steroids and how can you call that a fair game when the athletes are not equal in
performance due to a enhancing drug.
To further the argument, performance enhancing drugs must remain against the law to protect the
athlete s health and well being. If today s athletes are going to be so careless and take these drugs, we
as a society must step in and take control of what these athletes are putting in their bodies. And if they
continue to break the law by taking performance enhancing drugs, then they must suffer the
consequences by possibly being banned from the sport for an extended period of time or a lifetime
ban, which is would a result of their salaries and livelihood, endorsements and possible prison time.

The Odyssey Conniving Calypso
Conniving Calypso
I had lived on my luxurious island for many years. My island is filled with life and colorful blossoms.
With all the plants and beauty, the only people on my island are young women. Everyday, my
beautiful, young maids and I awaited the arrival of a man or woman lost at sea. For years we waited,
no person ever washing upon our shore. All we longed was a new friend, or man to get lost at sea and
wash up on our island for us to care for and love.
When a stranger showed up on my island after swimming in the ocean, I kindly took him in. No one
ever visits my wondrous island, and no one ever leaves my island. He told me of how his men killed
Helios forbidden cattle and Zeus destroyed his ship as a punishment for this forbidden act. He told me
that he had been swimming for days, his ship destroyed and all his loyal men killed. I began to care
for him as a mother cares for their child, bathing them in a warm tub of water, feeding them warm
soup made in the kitchen and putting them to sleep in a warm, comforting bed, as soft as a pillow that

Hamilton meets the Schuyler sisters. This is important because it shows how his childhood has
unconsciously affected him. He may have been married to Eliza, but he was never fully prepared to

was not emotionally available. This is shown by his relationship with Angelica.

Essay Tetrapods
The early Devonian period is largely considered to be a world of a diverse array of lobe finned fish,
including lungfish, coelacanths, and bony fish. Over the course of time, vertebrates made evolutionary
strides with provided them with the ability to travel on land. Coelacanths developed a single boned
shoulder girdle, lungfish developed paired fins, and sauripterus developed the major structures on the
arm (humerus, radius, and ulna). As these developments progressed and environmental pressures were
amounting in aquatic environments, vertebrates began to venture onto land. Sometimes it was for
short excursions, sometimes a bit longer. A major step in vertebrate evolution was the advancement of

Many species are completely aquatic during the juvenile part of the lifecycle. For example, frogs have
to reproduce in water because amphibian eggs do not have the protection of the amniotic sac. As a
result, the adults must return to a water source to reproduce. As tadpoles grow into adults they form
limbs that allow them to walk on land. Because of the restriction to semi aquatic environment, the
tetrapod structure of amphibians is not as diverse as the other classes of tetrapods. However, there are
groups that deviate from the norm by a lot. Caecilians are limbless amphibians. At first glance they do
not look like tetrapods but the lack of limbs is a derived secondary characteristic. Their bodies have
adapted for burrowing in the ground. Reptiles, the next tetrapods to emerge, were a very successful
version of amphibians. As opposed to amphibians, reptiles did not require water for the reproduction
process they produced shelled amniotic eggs to protect their embryos from the environment. Due to
the reduced dependence on water, reptiles were able to explore many new environments and as a
result their limbs evolved in a variety of ways. Crocdylotarsians developed a normal ankle which
swings to the side when walking, making walking slightly more efficient. Dinosaurs developed a hole
in their hip socket that allowed them to stand upright and to move significantly faster. Another way

Argumentative Essay On Cyber Bullying
A recent review of 377 articles found that cyberbullying affects 10 20% of adolescents as either
victims or perpetrators, or both, and is associated with emotional stress, social anxiety, substance
abuse, depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempts (Wiederhold, 2016). Health
professionals can help identify cyberbullies in their young patients by questioning them about
problems they might be having on the internet and meeting strangers online. Health professionals are
encouraged to be alert and to try and detect these signs as soon as possible. Their help may help
prevent a suicide, which is the third leading cause of death for American youth ages 10 24

children who are being affected by peer or online victimization.
As a community, all adults play an important role in ensuring that all children are safe and free of

What is the Romantic music period? The Romantic music is the period of Western Classical music

Sidney s The Defence of Poesy and Television Commercials
I know that something major has changed in the world of television when my sons refuse requests to
turn the set off with the comment, Just let me finish watching this commercial. I have always thought
that commercials were something to endure until the real program came back on. Apparently some of
them have now become the form of entertainment par excellence of the medium.
What do TV commercials have to do with Sidney s The Defence of Poesy? More than one might
think. Faced with the Puritans attack against poetry who saw it as a secondary form of knowledge,
called it the mother of lies and believed that it fed the fires of passion, Sidney responds with a
practical argument: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, I am exaggerating a bit, but certainly the arts were not in the same league as farming and
preaching. When my father in law evaluated a story or a film, he wanted to know whether it was true
or not. Fiction lowered it to an inferior level of truth.
Why the Mennonite mistrust of the arts? I believe that it can be traced to our traditional belief in
conformity to the community and non conformity to the world. The strong emphasis on conformity
put certain restraints on the imagination; remaining non conformed to the world meant that one could
not emulate or profit from non Mennonite artists. So unless the arts were used directly to support our
faith and the values of the community (such as congregational music, quilting, preaching, etc.)., they
tended to be seen as frivolous or downright dangerous. One should not ridicule that argument; if the
arts truly have the power to move us and if the best come from the outside world, it is only logical that
the Amish Mennonite culture would take steps to protect itself.
So when Sidney tries to change the mind of his Puritan critics, his strongest argument is based upon
the assumption that good poetry will cause people to act more virtuously. Puritans and Mennonites
would both appreciate that approach. If one believes that good literature results in

Australia s Involvement During The Second World War
The Second World War commenced in 1939 to 1945. Australia s involvement in the Second World

Roughly one million Australian men and women served the World War passionately guarding its

contributed as part of the Asian region protecting its neighbours. One of Australia s significant
involvement within the Asian region was the Battle of Singapore in 1942 supporting the British
Empire forces. On account of Australia s involvement, it has positively shaped our relationship with
the Asia region today. Immigration policy has changed as Australia accepts refugees to support Asia,

Political Marketing
Reconciling Marketing with Political Science: Theories of Political Marketing.
Journal of Marketing Management, 1997, Vol 13, pp.651 663
Dominic Wring
This paper has two broad aims: to trace the theoretical development of political marketing and then
demonstrate how these concepts can be used in the analysis of election campaigns. Electioneering is
not the sole manifestation of marketing in politics but it is the most obvious, a point underlined by
recent work addressing the prominent role now played by political marketing in a parliamentary
democracy like Britain (Franklin 1994; Kavanagh 1995; Scammell 1995). Whilst much of this
material understandably concentrates on the once neglected work of campaign practitioners, the more

The British and American definitions are useful in that they counteract the crude and oversimplistic
belief that marketing is simply about firms giving their customers what they want. Such a cliché may
convey clarity but it obscures more complex truth. And because some in political science (not to
mention other disciplines) may have misunderstood marketing in this way, it helps explain why
relatively few in the field have sought to use it as a tool of electoral analysis.
Marketing then is a process in which the notion of consumer focus plays a major strategic role but not
to the exclusion of organisational needs. Compared with over simplistic customer centred
understandings of the subject, this theoretical interpretation fits more easily with the world of
realpolitik . In analysing the electoral market Adrian Sackman emphasises this point, arguing that:
Marketing is thus built upon a paradox; it starts with the customer, is directed at the customer, but is
fundamentally concerned with the satisfaction of the producer s own interests (Sackman 1992). Such
sentiments resemble J.K.Galbraith s stricture that marketing and advertising are activities governed
and to some extent created by producer groups (Galbraith 1969). In political science this view is
reflected in theoretical considerations of competition which attempt

The War Of 1812 And The United States Army Essay
The Army began its linage on June 14, 1775, when the Second Continental Congress created the
Continental Army in order to combine the 13 American colonies and fight the British forces (). From
then on out the United States Army has seen multiple wars from the War of 1812 to present wars
today, and will continue to be one the many forces to protect the USA. Now over the years, the United
States Army has had to shift the way it conducts its soldiers to fight in the wars and how to be
proficient in battle; even with the new warfare tactics that our enemies are developing daily. Like any
other unified team, how does the United States Army gain leverage against our enemies who look to
seize the free world? Well like many teams they have offensive operations, which are to seek
opportunities to gain leverage against their foes or even gain a win in the end and then they have
defensive operations. Defensive operations are the opposite of offensive operations where instead of
trying to take advantage of the enemy the Army s forces are trying to take a stance and push the
enemy back. Thus allowing a chance to defend the territory where the soldiers stand and hopefully
allow the soldiers to regain their forces. So like many other military forces we have used these tactics
for many of years to defend our great nation, but of course over the years are tactics have had to
change in order to adapt to different wars. So in this paper you will learn the most current tactics that

Australia And The United States
Australia and the United States of America are two modern, democratic, English speaking countries
both initially settled by the British. Captain James Cook led a fleet of settlers and convicts into the
Botany Bay in Australia in 1788. The United States declared its Independence in 1776, and fought a
war with the British to obtain that independence. Australia began with a central government, then the
states came about and, lastly, local governments came into being (Australia.gov.au, 2014). It was
opposite for the U.S. Communities combined into territories and states, which eventually became the
Unites States. Both Australia and the United States look as if to have similar systems of government at
first glance. They are both federated nations, which means that the power to govern is shared between
national and state governments. Both systems are bicameral, consisting of two chambers, with an
elected House of Representatives and Senate. However, Australia is a constitutional monarchy and the
U.S. is a republic. The similarities and differences between the two systems can be seen in their
structure, their Constitutions, their elections of the heads of state, and their legislature.
The United States and Australia both have a Parliament that contains two houses: the House of
Representatives and the Senate. In the United States our Parliament is called Congress. Australia s
political system can be considered a mixture of the US and British systems. The parliamentary and

Hearne and Singer share some similarities towards animal rights their perspective towards animal

The word autism comes from a Greek word called autos, meaning self. Children with autism act very

another way is by using body language. There are also three phases of communication. The first

COMMUNICATION IN KENYA

1.0 Introduction
Effective communication between teacher and pupil is a requisite factor for educational attainment.
For the deaf, ineffective communication is a major problem especially when onset of profound
deafness takes places at an early age before language is acquired. At school, the language of classroom
communication not only affects the child s development but also influences ability to learn other
curriculum contents. Pointing out reasons for failure by deaf children to compete favorably with their
hearing peers, Johnson et al (1989) has indicated that the central problem on deaf education is
embedded in the lack of an appropriate language of classroom communication.
For a long time education for the deaf was conducted through the oral approach. It was later realized
that this oral approach did not avail curriculum content to the deaf learners. In the 1980 s Total
Communication arose as one of the solutions. According to Adoyo(2004), Total Communication was
misunderstood for Simultaneous Communication, a communication system in which speech and sign
are produced at the same time (Lane, Hoffmister Bahan, 1996). Although SC has been used in Kenya
for all these years, it has not produced the predicated large scale improvement.
In this study, an attempt was made to

I use this method in consultation with the learner and we create a plan around the best way of
performing it. Benefits Marking can be fast but some standardisation of interview procedure is needed
to ensure reliability and validity. Can be useful to check the ownership of evidence to ensure that
students are familiar with things that other forms of assessment indicate that they have learned well.
Virtually no scope for plagiarism Can provide a free exchange of ideas on a topic Generally used
supported by other assessment methods Allows for description, evaluation and reflection Structured
discussion allows for gaps to be covered The authenticity (ownership) of the product is not without
doubt Disadvantages Can be too leading Can be disjointed; learners need preparation time to ensure
logical flow of ideas A criticism could be that it tests communication, understanding, and capacity to
think quickly under pressure. Oral work can be less stressful for some students Cultural and individual
difference can result in some candidates underperforming when asked questions by figures of
authority. Not suitable for assessing large amounts of subject knowledge and understanding as it not
supposed to be a memory test. It is best utilised to plug knowledge gaps that have occurred in other
areas of assessment.

An Analysis Of Bach s The On The Spirits Of Music Lovers
The title Clavierubung means keyboard study or exercise, a term that probably referred both to the
keyboard skill of the performer and the inventive powers of the composer. Bach s full title added that
the music was to refresh the spirits of music lovers, omitting the pedagogic implications of the candid
instruction that headed the title of the inventions and sinfonias. The Clavierubung consists of four
major parts: 1. The six partitas, published in 1731. 2. An overture and concerto (1735). 3. Four duets
and organ chorales (1739). 4. Goldberg variations (1742). This essay focuses on the first part the
partitas. The meaning of the term partita is complex. Partita is the Italian form of the word and it
developed as a variation technique. In Germany it was used to refer to a collection of contrasting
dances played one after another on festive occasions. It was this usage that was adopted by Froberger
and other German composers of the 17th century when they applied it to the collections of dance
movements for the keyboard. It seems that Bach was aware of the many implications of the term
partita. It is possible that the suites which he assigned this name were so designated because they more
nearly fulfilled the varied implications of the name that did his other suites. In the keyboard partitas
Bach adhered to the old practice of maintaining the identity of key throughout an entire piece. The
variety of forms in the partitas is immediately apparent. Each one of them opens

Existential counselling is a philosophical form of counselling which addresses the situation of a
person s life and situates the person firmly within the predictable challenges of the human condition.
Existential counselling considers human living to take place within four dimensions: physical, social,
psychological and spiritual. It shows each of these dimensions to be constituted like a force field,
within which predictable paradoxes, tensions and dilemmas play out. Human beings can learn to deal
with these tensions and conflicts more effectively by facing up to the negatives as well as the positives
of their lives, including the tensions of life and death, love and hate, strength and weakness and

We may even choose actions that cause harm to ourselves or to others. Reflecting on these behaviours,
with the help of a psychologist, gives us insight into the reasons we chose these actions and helps us to
learn from our mistakes and make better choices in the future. You do not need to be an existentialist
to benefit from existential therapy; you need only a desire to be happier and a willingness to reflect
upon how your choices are part of the solution. Existential Therapy is an approach to counselling that
helps us to understand ourselves, other people and the world we all inhabit together. Existential
Therapy helps people to build confidence that they are making good choices. Existential Therapy is
not reserved solely for people who suffer from severe psychological problems; it is for everyone who
is having trouble making a good decision when they experience the kind of challenges issued by life.
Existential Therapy provides an opportunity to explore the world including the dreams, fantasies and
spiritual dimensions of our existence. Talking about it helps to identify dilemmas, develop a strategy
to deal with them and then grow from the experience. Irvin David Yalom, M.D. (born June 13, 1931),

Relationship Between Sense And Sensibility
The next female antagonist belonging to the category of self centred girls is Elinor s sister Marianne
Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. While the classification of Marianne as her sister s antagonist
might cause confusion or even objections/disapproval as she naturally loves her sister and encourages
her potential relationship with Edward Ferrars (source?), she endangers nonetheless Elinor s happy
ending albeit unknowingly and unintentionally. Marianne s emotional nature provides the basis for
this threat: her characterisation at the beginning of the novel/novel initial presents her as sensible and
clever; but eager in every thing; her sorrows, her joys, could have no moderation (SS 8), and thereby
foreshadows her incessant occupation with her feelings which is going to be her undoing in the course
of Sense and Sensibility. This preoccupation with her emotions, in turn, is a sign of her self
centredness or even selfishness.
As Marianne is led by her emotions, she often speaks her mind openly without thinking and restraint,
and thereby treads on the toes of others. However since she, according to Morgan s suggestion,

Farming Is The Nation s Most Important And Noblest...
When you think about farming what comes to mind? Do you think about older gentlemen on tractors,
or young boys helping there father feed the family herd. Maybe you even think about thousands of
acres of corn land in Iowa. Whatever it is I can assure you farming is the nation s most important and
noblest profession. Today farming is seen as a dangerous profession, that s not necessarily the case, it
is true that many people are injured and even killed on farms each year. In 2012 alone three hundred
and seventy four farmers and farm workers lost there lives due to work related injuries, and every day
a staggering one hundred and sixty seven agriculture workers suffer a work related injury (CDC
2012). But why so many? The simple answer is that when it comes to farm safety many people are
ignorant. I myself am guilty of not using the proper safety equipment or even removing a safety shield
to make things run more efficient. I think we have it hardwired in our brains that bad things only
happen to other people, and nothing bad could happen to ourselves, that s not the case. I think that if
farmers will take the time to slow down and be more careful and think things through we will cut
down drastically on injuries. If you think about it many farmers are constantly stressed, they simply
don t have enough hours in the day to accomplish all the tasks at hand so they begin to rush which
causes shortcuts to be made which can potentially lead to injury or death.

eventual failures in Russia, Tsarina Alexandra was dealing with much more than just the political
nature of Russia during the time of World War I. The Tsarina found herself struggling with finding a
balance between the Russian distrust due to her lineage, her struggle to produce an heir, and finding
her place with Tsar Nicholas II away at the front. In a time when the Romanov family was the center
of distrust, the German princess found herself conflicted between her strong religious beliefs, Russian
patriotism, and her desire to protect Russian aristocracy in order to provide her son a future as Tsar.
With all these conflicting allegiances in her life, Tsarina Alexandra found herself trying to establish
her role as a leader of the Russian people, a mother, and a wife while also trying to balance her duty as
a Tsarina in the scope of family and war. Tsarina Alexandra Romonov was born in Darmstadt,
Germany as Alix of Hesse and by Rhine to the second daughter of Queen Victoria. This connection to
both the Queen of England and Germany was problematic for the Tsarina because she found herself
trying to be Russian, German, and English which ultimately produced distrust between her and the
Russian people. Though the Tzar Nicholas II showed her love and interest, the Russian society

User Authentication With An Adaptive Mechanism On Mobile...
These papers Design of Touch Dynamics Based User Authentication with an Adaptive Mechanism on
Mobile Phone, by Y. Meng, D. S. Wong, and L. F. Kwok , and Continuous Mobile Authentic cation
Using Touchscreen Gestures, by T. Feng, Z. Liu, K. A. Kwon, W. Shi, B. Carbunar, Y. Jiang, and N.
Nguy are compared. The two papers illustrate that touchscreen mobile phones are very popular and
used to store sensitive information such as passwords, personal photos and business information [1,2].
Thus, smartphones become valuable places and targets for attacks. Moreover, smartphones are eligible
to be stolen and lost which enhances the chance for unauthorized users access to personal, sensitive
information [1,2]. Consequently, the Y. Meng et al. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The authors touch dynamics based authentication scheme has used a Google/HTC Nexus One Android
phone 2 with a multi touch capacitive touchscreen to gather and process data. Moreover, they updated
this Android operating system to version 2.2 based on CyanogenMod. In contrast, The T. Feng s paper
designs an android program for collecting touch gesture information from HTC Android smartphones.
Moreover, FAST proposes a sensor glove that is a digital sensor glove with IMU digital combo boards
ITG3200/ADXL345. The glove allows authors FAST to collect biometric information of finger
gestures. The Y. Meng et al. paper illustrates session identification as a major factor of touch dynamics
based authentication scheme [1]. Session identification extracts authentication signature for each
session before it compares with other sessions to determine the user if authorized or not to use the
smartphone. Touch dynamics based authentication scheme uses the methodology of event based
session that has 120 touch gestures for each session. The main point of using event based session
rather than time based session is that users may provide different numbers of gestures information for
each session in time based session. Consequently, using event based session improves the efficiencies
of authentication. On the other hand, FAST proposes an aggregated authentication approach to verify

Langston Hughes, An African American Writer
Langston Hughes, an African American writer who interpreted to the world the black experience in the
US and portrayed them with skill and insight, was born February 1st, 1902 into the home of the couple
James and Carrie Hughes. Hughes mother attended college and had an artistic temperament. James
Nathanial Hughes was a prosperous lawyer and rancher in Mexico who disliked the black poor and
hated Negroes. On April 30, 1899, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, him and his wife Carrie were married and
were pregnant within a few days after the wedding. When the U.S. census taker came around on June
5, 1900 the tragedy struck couple reported the loss of their first child, a boy; apparently he was buried
earlier that year. Langston came along next and soon after his parents separated. When Langston was
between the age of 5 and 7 his parents tried to reconcile with each other in Mexico. The reunion ended
on the night of April 14, 1907 after an earthquake shook the ground over a vast region in Mexico.
After the incident Carrie, her mother and her son fled Mexico. Hughes was raised by his mother, who
later married Homer Clark, and his grandmother, who had served as a conductor on the Underground
Railroad with her husband earlier in her life. Langston lived in about half a dozen cities before him
and his new family settled in Cleveland. Langston Hughes found his first job; he gathered maple seeds
and most likely sold them to the Bartheldes Seed Company. Moving forward with his life Langston

Gandhi s American Dream
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. Quotes like this
come from the one and only, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, or what he s commonly known as
Mahatma Gandhi. He peacefully brought people together to boycott against British rule, and rebelled
against what he believed was wrong. Before all of his, Gandhi was born on October 2nd 1869, in
Porbandar, Kathiawar, India which was at the time apart of the British empire. He had what seemed to
be a short childhood, marrying at thirteen years old in an arranged marriage with Kasturba Makanji.
This soon caused his early rebel teen years which was, smoking, eating meat, and stealing change
from household servants. (Biography.com Editors 1). He had little interest in school, but kept average
grades due to his father s expectations in his academics. He went on to study western culture in
London, England for three years and struggled through his studies. While staying there he started
reading a variety of sacred texts about different religions, learning about the different cultures and
beliefs of the world. Although he had a hard and difficult early life, he still came through to only break
through bigger barriers in his future. Gandhi stood up for what he believed in multiple times in his
life. After his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(History.com Editors 6) which translates to Oh God. Even after the death of this peaceful leader, his
teachings went on to inspire many others like Dr. Martin Luther King in the United States, Nelson

Phantom of the Opera Review
Phantom of the Opera is the longest running musical to date and has become one of the most beloved
and well known musicals on Broadway. The musical was inspired and loosely based on the characters
and the story of the book Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This CD is the original London
cast which means that this recording is with the first cast that ever preformed the musical with the
actors that created the parts. The musical was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber who is
one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the most well loved musicals
of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and emotional music for Phantom of the Opera that
set this musical apart from all the others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical
experience is because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be too modern. This
makes it unique because most of today s musicals are trying to be more pop culture. The Phantom of
the Opera manages to stay in the time period where the story takes place but weaves in modern
comedy and rock music. The most obvious way that this is done is with the main theme of the
musical. The pounding of the organ is one of the most well known themes in musical theatre and it is
reminiscent of rock music with the guitar but it is different than rock because it is an organ not a
guitar. There are many other contrasts between old and new in the musical. One contrast is of musical
and opera. The

The United States won t be please to realize that a new emerging powerful economy is entering in those places where they had a main power. All three poems deal with the idea of losing something and missing the something so much it pains them to think about it. Although in many cases, the person experiencing exile has nothing to do but think about their exile. In The Wanderer, the speaker has lost all of his kinsman over time. He feels exiled by his misery, grievous disasters, and death of kin and he is weary of exile. It is physically straining for him to feel this way everyday, but he cannot do anything about it. He recounts how some of his companion s died saying one a bird bore over the billowing sea; one the grey wolf slew; one a grieving earl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When her and her husband first got married she believed they would never be parted, but circumstances got in the way. Her husband s kinsman plotted to separate them and succeeded. She misses not only her loved one, but also her young naivety about love. I grieved each dawn wondered where my lord my first on Earth might be. She feels thrown away without her love beside her and remembers each morning at dawn. She says her old friends are sleeping soundly in their beds and she is walking by herself alone through these earth halls. • 5. Activation Rate Law Abstract. The objective of this work was to determine the activation energy and rate law for the reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium shot. An analysis of the reaction s initial rate at varying molarities of hydrochloric acid and masses of magnesium shot, along with the method of initial rates was used to determine the rate law for the reaction; rate = k (SA of Mg)a [H+]b. It was hypothesized that the reaction would be second order overall. After determining the rate law, the activation energy was determined by changing the temperature at which the reaction took place. Using the rate constants calculated at the two different temperatures, the activation energy was calculated. It was found, experimentally through the method of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the reaction because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick enough. Not being able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law because the graph of pressure versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in which the reactants could be mixed with the pressure probe already in place would yield much more accurate results because the change in pressure would be higher which would cause the initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in the experiment was keeping the temperature of the trial in the ice bath consistent. If the temperature of the HCl changed from when it was measure to when the reaction took place, the activation energy calculations would have had increased error. Because the HCl was still sitting in the ice bath, if the actual temperature was colder that what we calculated, the activation energy would have been lowered. For future experiments, the temperature of the HCl should be recorded as soon to when the Mg shot is added as possible, or the experiment could be run in a temperature controlled ... This perfectly describes everyones state of mind at this point in the story. Mike is asked how it feels to be shot. He responds It don t hurt if that s what you mean . It was a strange question and an odd response. Of course it hurts if you are shot, but I think he was trying to convince both his friends and himself that he wasn t mentally affected by the war. The answer is yes and no. Relatively little time is devoted to war footage, seemingly the director believes that we are intuitively aware of what a war looks like and focuses instead on the human toll of war. It is also difficult, as Mr. Biskind suggests, to discern what political statement the filmmaker is trying to make, if any at all. If I had to categorize this film I would call it a psychological drama. The same film could have been made using any number of backdrops. The war had ended only three years prior to the making of The Deer Hunter so it seems logical that Cimino chose the Viet Nam War as his subject. As important as the movie seemed in 1978, I think the passage of time has dampened the enthusiasm over its importance. The director s next film, Heavens Gate was

The Great Gatsby Passage Analysis Gatsby Commentary Essay Within the exposition of the story, Fitzgerald introduces the future issues between economic division of old money to give a background and set the tone for the rest of the story. The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald discusses the fall and decline of the American Dream, however this particular passage intends to discuss the economic aspect of old money and how those who belong to it differ from others. There were great differences between the high and low class during the time period of The Great Gatsby, and that is particularly seen through Fitzgerald s use of money. Once Tom had made his fortunes, he left Chicago and c[a]me east in a fashion that took your breath away in order to spend his old money from his family in New York (9 10). In attempt to help fathom the style and trends of old money, Fitzgerald uses the phrase that took your breath away , which does in fact describe the lifestyles of Tom and his movements regarding the old money. Similarly to the magnitude of his spending, Nick also describes Tom s life as steps of drifting for no particular reason, here and there unrestfully from place to place, not having a purpose. Fitzgerald s archetype of drifting from place to place, such as Midwest to East, when describing Tom s lifestyle, helps represent what old money stands for as people like Tom have no sense of purpose with what they do and where they go. Nick, on the other hand, has a different viewpoint and he says why they came here I don t know , because his visions and ideals with new money are very different to those of Tom and old money (12). Contrasting Tom s ways of spending and drifting, Fitzgerald uses perspective to show contrasting viewpoints of Nick (new money) and Tom (old money) through his confusion by saying I don t know . • 9. Refinancing Your Student Loans Refinancing your student loans means that a private lender is essentially buying your Federal student loans, paying them off, and creating a new loan that it will lend to you on new, original terms. The new terms of your refinanced loan will be based off your credit reports, credit score, and other requirements. The new private loan terms include, among other things, a new interest rate and potentially a new term (the length of time over which you have to repay your loan). For example, you could take your Federal student loans that have a 10 year term and refinance them into one private loan for 20 years. If I was unable to extend the term of my loan from 10 years to 25 years, then I probably wouldn t have been able to switch career paths to a financial planner because I had to take a significant pay cut to make the move. Because I was able to extend the term of my loan and make lower monthly payments, I have much greater job and career flexibility. When your monthly student loan payment is lower, you have more options because your debt doesn t play as significant of a role in your monthly expenses. Example of extending your student loan term Assume Amy has $45,000 in Federal student loan debt at 6.0% interest rate on a 10 year, standard repayment plan. Amy decides to refinance her loans to private loans to get a lower interest rate. Amy and her lender agree to a new loan with a principal balance of $45,000 at a 4.0% interest rate for a period of 25 years. Social Construction Of Gender Roles Essay Gender roles are personality traits, mannerisms, interests, attitudes, and behaviors that are regarded as either male or female by a person s culture. It has been proven that both genetics and environment influence the development of gender roles; they are mostly taught while growing up. However, they may prevent people from conforming to their true gender identities. In fact, if we no longer assigned genders, then our society would change to be more inclusive. This does not mean that traditional roles are bad, but more research is needed to discover the influences of genetics and environment on individual gender roles and in society. Wives are more likely to initiate discussions about planned vacations. If the kids need to be driven to activities, it is usually the mother who does the driving. She is also likely to be the one buying clothes for them. But men also have standards too. They re often in charge of fixing up things in the house or tuning up the car. He was starting to be known as a good author when he first published his firsts stories. Hemingway even earned a Nobel Prize in Literature. Eventually, he committed suicide by shooting himself. His writing remains well known. One story he wrote was called A Clean, Well Lighted Place. Hemingway wrote this story about an old man who stays late at a cafe where two waiters were working at. The old man would even stay late when no one else was in the cafe. The waiters, especially the younger one, were becoming impatient with the old man. The older waiter did not seem to mind much. As the story goes on, Hemingway gives the reader a good contrast between the waiters. There is also a sense of depression or abandonment in the story. This story can be seen as a reflection of the impact of age because of the contrast between the waiters, the loneliness of the old man, and the emphasis of the use of nada. As someone reads this story, it is clear that there is contrast between the two waiters. Hemingway writes the dialogue in a way that readers can tell there is an age difference between the two waiters. The waiters begin to talk about what each of them have. The older waiter is clearly older because, he says, You have youth, confidence, and a job... (Hemingway 169). The waiters have an age difference which shows throughout the story. Because of the restriction to semi aquatic environment, the tetrapod structure of amphibians is not as diverse as the other classes of tetrapods. However, there are groups that deviate from the norm by a lot. Caecilians are limbless amphibians. Reptiles, the next tetrapods to emerge, were a very successful version of amphibians. As opposed to amphibians, reptiles did not require water for the reproduction process they produced shelled amniotic eggs to protect their embryos from the environment. Sidney s The Defence of Poesy and Television Commercials I know that something major has changed in the world of television when my sons refuse requests to turn the set off with the comment, Just let me finish watching this commercial. I have always thought that commercials were something to endure until the real program came back on. Apparently some of them have now become the form of entertainment par excellence of the medium. What do TV commercials have to do with Sidney s The Defence of Poesy? More than one might think. Faced with the Puritans attack against poetry who saw it as a secondary form of knowledge, called it the mother of lies and believed that it fed the fires of passion, Sidney responds with a practical argument: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well, I am exaggerating a bit, but certainly the arts were not in the same league as farming and preaching. When my father in law evaluated a story or a film, he wanted to know whether it was true or not. Fiction lowered it to an inferior level of truth. Why the Mennonite mistrust of the arts? I believe that it can be traced to our traditional belief in conformity to the community and non conformity to the world. The strong emphasis on conformity put certain restraints on the imagination; remaining non conformed to the world meant that one could not emulate or profit from non Mennonite artists. So unless the arts were used directly to support our faith and the values of the community (such as congregational music, quilting, preaching, etc.)., they tended to be seen as frivolous or downright dangerous. One should not ridicule that argument; if the arts truly have the power to move us and if the best come from the outside world, it is only logical that the Amish Mennonite culture would take steps to protect itself. So when Sidney tries to change the mind of his Puritan critics, his strongest argument is based upon the assumption that good poetry will cause people to act more virtuously. Puritans and Mennonites would both appreciate that approach. If one believes that good literature results in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Journal of Marketing Management, 1997, Vol 13, pp.651 663 Dominic Wring This paper has two broad aims: to trace the theoretical development of political marketing and then demonstrate how these concepts can be used in the analysis of election campaigns. Electioneering is not the sole manifestation of marketing in politics but it is the most obvious, a point underlined by recent work addressing the prominent role now played by political marketing in a parliamentary democracy like Britain (Franklin 1994; Kavanagh 1995; Scammell 1995). Whilst much of this material understandably concentrates on the once neglected work of campaign practitioners, the more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The British and American definitions are useful in that they counteract the crude and oversimplistic belief that marketing is simply about firms giving their customers what they want. Such a cliché may convey clarity but it obscures more complex truth. And because some in political science (not to mention other disciplines) may have misunderstood marketing in this way, it helps explain why relatively few in the field have sought to use it as a tool of electoral analysis. Marketing then is a process in which the notion of consumer focus plays a major strategic role but not to the exclusion of organisational needs. Compared with over simplistic customer centred understandings of the subject, this theoretical interpretation fits more easily with the world of realpolitik . In analysing the electoral market Adrian Sackman emphasises this point, arguing that: Marketing is thus built upon a paradox; it starts with the customer, is directed at the customer, but is fundamentally concerned with the satisfaction of the producer s own interests (Sackman 1992). Such sentiments resemble J.K.Galbraith s stricture that marketing and advertising are activities governed and to some extent created by producer groups (Galbraith 1969). The War Of 1812 And The United States Army Essay The Army began its linage on June 14, 1775, when the Second Continental Congress created the Continental Army in order to combine the 13 American colonies and fight the British forces (). From then on out the United States Army has seen multiple wars from the War of 1812 to present wars today, and will continue to be one the many forces to protect the USA. Now over the years, the United States Army has had to shift the way it conducts its soldiers to fight in the wars and how to be proficient in battle; even with the new warfare tactics that our enemies are developing daily. Like any other unified team, how does the United States Army gain leverage against our enemies who look to seize the free world? Well like many teams they have offensive operations, which are to seek opportunities to gain leverage against their foes or even gain a win in the end and then they have defensive operations. Defensive operations are the opposite of offensive operations where instead of trying to take advantage of the enemy the Army s forces are trying to take a stance and push the enemy back. Thus allowing a chance to defend the territory where the soldiers stand and hopefully allow the soldiers to regain their forces. So like many other military forces we have used these tactics for many of years to defend our great nation, but of course over the years are tactics have had to change in order to adapt to different wars. • 31. Australia And The United States Australia and the United States of America are two modern, democratic, English speaking countries both initially settled by the British. Captain James Cook led a fleet of settlers and convicts into the Botany Bay in Australia in 1788. The United States declared its Independence in 1776, and fought a war with the British to obtain that independence. Australia began with a central government, then the states came about and, lastly, local governments came into being (Australia.gov.au, 2014). It was opposite for the U.S. Communities combined into territories and states, which eventually became the Unites States. Both Australia and the United States look as if to have similar systems of government at first glance. They are both federated nations, which means that the power to govern is shared between national and state governments. Both systems are bicameral, consisting of two chambers, with an elected House of Representatives and Senate. However, Australia is a constitutional monarchy and the U.S. is a republic. The similarities and differences between the two systems can be seen in their structure, their Constitutions, their elections of the heads of state, and their legislature. A Short Note On Speech Sign Semantic Equivalence Essay ANALYSIS OF SPEECH SIGN SEMANTIC EQUIVALENCE IN SIMULTANEAOUS COMMUNICATION IN KENYA By Adoyo Peter Oracha Department of special needs education, Maseno University, P.O Box 333, Maseno Kenya. 1.0 Introduction Effective communication between teacher and pupil is a requisite factor for educational attainment. For the deaf, ineffective communication is a major problem especially when onset of profound deafness takes places at an early age before language is acquired. At school, the language of classroom communication not only affects the child s development but also influences ability to learn other curriculum contents. Pointing out reasons for failure by deaf children to compete favorably with their hearing peers, Johnson et al (1989) has indicated that the central problem on deaf education is embedded in the lack of an appropriate language of classroom communication. For a long time education for the deaf was conducted through the oral approach. It was later realized that this oral approach did not avail curriculum content to the deaf learners. In the 1980 s Total Communication arose as one of the solutions. According to Adoyo(2004), Total Communication was misunderstood for Simultaneous Communication, a communication system in which speech and sign are produced at the same time (Lane, Hoffmister Bahan, 1996). An Analysis Of Bach s The On The Spirits Of Music Lovers The title Clavierubung means keyboard study or exercise, a term that probably referred both to the keyboard skill of the performer and the inventive powers of the composer. Bach s full title added that the music was to refresh the spirits of music lovers, omitting the pedagogic implications of the candid instruction that headed the title of the inventions and sinfonias. The Clavierubung consists of four major parts: 1. The six partitas, published in 1731. 2. An overture and concerto (1735). 3. Four duets and organ chorales (1739). 4. Goldberg variations (1742). This essay focuses on the first part the partitas. The meaning of the term partita is complex. Partita is the Italian form of the word and it developed as a variation technique. In Germany it was used to refer to a collection of contrasting dances played one after another on festive occasions. It was this usage that was adopted by Froberger and other German composers of the 17th century when they applied it to the collections of dance movements for the keyboard. It seems that Bach was aware of the many implications of the term partita. It is possible that the suites which he assigned this name were so designated because they more nearly fulfilled the varied implications of the name that did his other suites. In the keyboard partitas Bach adhered to the old practice of maintaining the identity of key throughout an entire piece. The variety of forms in the partitas is immediately apparent. While the classification of Marianne as her sister s antagonist might cause confusion or even objections/disapproval as she naturally loves her sister and encourages her potential relationship with Edward Ferrars (source?), she endangers nonetheless Elinor s happy ending albeit unknowingly and unintentionally. Marianne s emotional nature provides the basis for this threat: her characterisation at the beginning of the novel/novel initial presents her as sensible and clever; but eager in every thing; her sorrows, her joys, could have no moderation (SS 8), and thereby foreshadows her incessant occupation with her feelings which is going to be her undoing in the course of Sense and Sensibility. Today farming is seen as a dangerous profession, that s not necessarily the case, it is true that many people are injured and even killed on farms each year. In 2012 alone three hundred and seventy four farmers and farm workers lost there lives due to work related injuries, and every day a staggering one hundred and sixty seven agriculture workers suffer a work related injury (CDC 2012). But why so many? The simple answer is that when it comes to farm safety many people are ignorant. I myself am guilty of not using the proper safety equipment or even removing a safety shield to make things run more efficient. I think we have it hardwired in our brains that bad things only happen to other people, and nothing bad could happen to ourselves, that s not the case. While many of the Tsarina s actions did contribute to the eventual failures in Russia, Tsarina Alexandra was dealing with much more than just the political nature of Russia during the time of World War I. The Tsarina found herself struggling with finding a balance between the Russian distrust due to her lineage, her struggle to produce an heir, and finding her place with Tsar Nicholas II away at the front. The musical was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber who is one of the most famous musical composers and has composed some of the most well loved musicals of the last fifty years. Webber created incredible and emotional music for Phantom of the Opera that set this musical apart from all the others. One thing that makes Phantom of the Opera a unique musical experience is because it does not try to fit into one genre and does not try to be too modern. This makes it unique because most of today s musicals are trying to be more pop culture. The Phantom of the Opera manages to stay in the time period where the story takes place but weaves in modern comedy and rock music.
