Essay on Public Service Broadcasting Within The Plural...
Introduction
British Broadcasting Corporation [BBC] has played its role as a Public Service Broadcasting [PSB] in
England since 1926. It was set up on Baron Reith s hands as an educative media building public s
character by establishing and socializing cultural value to the society via its programs. Hitherto, BBC
s work focuses on the cultural connection among the society and plays a role as its guardian rather
than pays attention to the diversity among them (Curran Seaton, 2003). However, some critiques about
its existence started raising in the end of 1980s as the appearance of the Sky Media commercial
satellite television company which gave larger opportunity for public to choose what they want to see.
Recently, one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, its operation focuses more on fostering the civilization and democracy rather than to gain
revenue. Besides, it also must be willing for a limited autonomy in its operation since the government
has the authority to control its working mechanism.
The core objection of this form of broadcasting is to serve public by providing quality information and
facilitating public discourse to enforce democracy and advance civilization. In term of quality
information, PSB plays a role as socio cultural agent whose duty is to perpetuate the high culture and
raise public awareness as an united national entity. Furthermore, in its role as a discursive arena, PSB
exists as a practice of Habermas idea of public sphere where public as a political community exercise
their freedom of assembly and freedom of information to solve their social problem as well as to reach
an agreement about the common good which is expected to affect the policy in a society (Hauser,
1998).
To guarantee that this democratic function works well, PSB must guarantee that its operation is
impartially detached from either state or market interest. In this case, BBC is a good example.
Since it s mobilization from private company to public corporation, BBC operates as a form of
quangos (Butsch, 2007) which work as an independent organisation playing a governmental role.
Since 1946, its operational fund comes from the

Voltaire Biography Essay
Francois Marie Arouet is a French writer who is commonly known as Voltaire. Besides being a writer,
he was also an historian, philosopher, and a French lawyer who belonged to one of the main
representatives of the Illustration (European cultural and intellectual movement).
Voltaire was part of a noble family from the province of Poitou Charentes. He studied latin and greek
in the private school Jusuita Louis le Grand during Louis XIV last years of his reign.
On 1706 Voltaire wrote Amulius y Numitor, which later on small fragments of it were found and later
published in the nineteenth century. His godfather Abad de Chateauneuf introduced him to la Sociedad

My Experience At The Mountain View Hospital
Reflection
This semester I volunteered my time at the Mountain View Hospital in the Women s Department,
specifically in the postpartum section. I chose this volunteer opportunity because it significantly
relates to my career path and passion. I am biological sciences major and
Psychology minor (pre medical) and the goal of my medical career is to become an
Obstetrician/gynecologist and then potentially specialize in the fertility and infertility of women.
Throughout the course of this semester I would volunteer at Mountain View on Friday evenings. My
main job in the postpartum section was to attend to the basic needs of the new mothers, I would
provide water, ice chips, snacks, and clean linens when needed. I manned the main entrance of ...

However, I can do other things to provide care, compassion, and relief to the post partum mothers. On
one of my days volunteering I had a particularly nice experience, which reflects how volunteers can
provide a service to their community through small acts of kindness. A mother just had her third child,
her other two children, who seemed to be no older that 5 or 6 years old, were restless and quite out of
control. There was a male figure who came and went a few times, but he didn t seem to have any
attachment to the other two children. The mother seemed overwhelmed probably because of the
exhaustion and stress of childbirth. Also, she was stuck in bed while her incisions from her C section
healed. According to the nurses, she was only permitted to walk a lap around the nurse s station every
few hours, let alone chase around her other rowdy children. So I had an idea: in the post partum
department we have these wagons that are decorated with characters from Winnie the Pooh and
Finding Nemo. To offer the mother some rest, I asked if I could pull her children around the Women s
Department in the wagon. The mother accepted my offer and I loaded the two children, Leah and
Ryder, into the wagon. I pulled the two kids around for about 45 minutes. When I came back to the
mother s room, she thanked me many times. It was personally rewarding to help the mother, even
though it was just a small gesture.

The Quiet Kill Thesis
Quiet Kill The difficulty is to express them without squandering a quire of paper on an idea that ought
to be reduced to one glittering paragraph. We Americans love our prepositional phrases, such as: Out

yin yang, off the wall, around the bend, below the belt, under the weather, and of course under the

Agathon hosted a gathering for a small group of philosophers to talk about how they perceive love and
what their own unique ideas are of beauty, virtue, honor, or anything else that may fall under the
category of love. Eros, or Love, is a god that the philosophers have decided to praise with a speech of
their own perspective. You get to see each philosophers different style and way of thinking within
their speeches. All philosophers have agreed to drink while each other is speaking, but there is no

A wrong relationship is one which involves the immoral gratification of a bad man, and a good
relationship is one which involves the morally sound gratification of a good man (Waterfield 17). The
desire of a bad man is one who leads primarily for physical features, and in the end leaving who he
may be with on to something new, thus having a temporary relationship or feeling with a companion.
Psyche which will never lose its charm, more than for the body, which must inevitably do so (Plato s
Symposium, Rosen 85). I believe this particular statement to be true when searching for love because
through time, your body has the possibility of becoming weak, while on the other hand it may be
easier to keep your mind healthy and fresh. The mind can have memories and abilities that you have
had as a child all the way up to when you become elderly. The mind can remain youthful, while the
body has no choice but to age. The common lover looks for people based on how attractive they are,
or if they may be wealthy or powerful in some way. The good side of love would put the beauty of the
mind first before the body, since it can remain youthful in some sense. Those who put the love of the
body first may just keep moving on to the next one, and may not find that special person to be fully
happy and settle down with, although they may see beauty in the body, they may not see beauty in the
mind which is not clear to

1. Describe the development of black schools in the south after the Civil War? Black people saw
educations as a way of self emancipation. Slaves knew the importance of having a education, some of
them took the risk of going to secret school, where they were able to learn how to read and write.
Black decided to set up their own schools at their own expenses. With the help of free black men,
white yankee missionaries, and school teachers the first schools were established in the South. The
inspector of the Freedmen s Bureau when to the South and found around 500 native schools. Black
parents and southtreen residents took control of the schools system. Using their money to pay for the
schools expenses.
2. How did these schools lead to public education for everyone in the South?
The Freedmen s Bureau took control over the black schools in the South proving them with funds and
support. Black began to procter and ask for government help to maining the schools for black
students. By 1870 all the schools for black people received funds and support from the states.

Respecting The Founding Fathers
Since the establishment of our nation, the founding fathers have been looked upon with veneration.
The numerous monuments throughout the country dedicated to these courageous men demonstrate
their lasting dignity in our society. These men were exceptional leaders who played a substantial role
in American history and tremendously shaped our country for the better. They gave us some of our
most beloved documents, led the way to our freedom from Great Britain, and provided us with the
foundations for our current government. These men dedicated their lives to the betterment of our

Our forefathers dedicated their lives to the establishment of our nation, but what inspired these men to
do this? First, these men felt a responsibility to their country. George Washington said in his first
inaugural address I was summoned by my country, whose voice I can never hear but with veneration
and love... (Document C) Second, they were unhappy about Great Britain s brutality towards the
colonies. As stated by the founders in the Declaration of Independence, Great Britain was responsible
for cutting off our trade with other parts of the world and imposing taxes without our consent.
According to the founding fathers, Great Britain also plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burned
our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people. (Document N) These men thought the actions of
Great Britain were unfair and they needed to protect the rights of their people and stand up for their
country. Finally, they wanted freedom for themselves and for generations to come. In a letter to

Concentric Or Eccentric Training
This article is about the modifications to muscle strength, velocity, and neural activity as well as any
morphological changes subsequently going through either eccentric or concentric training. Eccentric
training has illustrated to have adequately good effects on muscle hypotrophy, strengthening the
muscle, and has made efficient exercises for injured athletes going through rehabilitation. But with
eccentric training it makes lower concentric but vaster eccentric strength enhancements compared
with concentric training, due to eccentric and concentric training providing dissimilar stimuli to the
muscles. An improvement is necessary in obtaining the information of the potential differences of
morphological and neural adaptations in the early stages of eccentric and concentric training in order
to improve musculoskeletal rehabilitation programs and there has been a lack of researching the
effects of resistance training. The purpose of the article is to compare what effects and the differences

distinction between the two groups is that the eccentric group enhanced their isometric strength with
eccentric exercises. Concentric strength is better in those who trained concentrically and eccentric

Questions On Dispute Resolution Mechanism
CIVIL 790 Civil Engineering Administration Assignment 1 Dispute Resolution Mechanism Disputes
are a common occurrence when dealing with construction contracts, and can arise in a number of
different areas. Some of the more common areas include; time for completion, quality of
workmanship, payment, and contractual documentation. Section 13 in NZS3910:2013 sets out to
resolve such disputes using the Disputes Resolution Mechanism , by attempting to fairly/equally
resolve any dispute which is not precluded by the previsions of 12.4, 12.6, 13.1.1 or 13.2
(NSZ3910:2013 13.1.2), whilst maintaining flexibility, and preservation of the disputants relationship.
Section 13 of NZS 3910:2013 sets out to resolve any dispute/difference using a three step process,
wherein after each stage if the dispute is not amicably resolved, the next step is taken. The Engineers
review is the first stage in the Disputes Resolution Mechanism outlined in NZS3910:2013. All
disputes that arise must be referred to the Engineer not later than 1 Month after the provision of the
Final Payment Schedule under 12.5.1, 12.5.3, or 12.5.4 or more than 1 Month after the date on which
any relevant Adjudicator s Determination is given to the parties, whichever is the later
(NZS3910:2013 13.2). This process begins with the Principal, Contractor, or the Engineer requesting a
meeting in order to resolve the dispute/disagreement. The Engineer and an elected representative of
the Contractor will meet as soon as

Meiji Restoration Essay
The inception of the Tokugawa Shogunate around 1600 would reduce the impact of foreign relations
throughout Japanese society. This bulwark helped resist change and development in Japan, although it
continued throughout the western world. Following two hundred years of self imposed seclusion from
the rest of the world, the forceful re entry of the foreigner brought about considerable change in Japan.
While managing the foreign threat, there was also an imbalance of power in the current feudal system
of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This imbalance created uncertainty for Japan and the imperialistic
foreigners. This imbalance and uncertainty would lead to the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the
emergence of the Meiji Restoration. However, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the various themes presented in The Analects, there are some particular teachings implicit
within Japans feudalistic samurai society. The general discussion of virtues and morals promoted
within The Analects leads the student to strive to achieve gentleman status or if possible sage status.
While the broad application of these lessons did occur in Japan, there are inherent differences with its
practice in China. While the movement of an individual in social and economic stature in China was
based on the quality of work they were able to complete through their apparent knowledge and work
ethic. The same flexibility did not apply in Japan. The rigid feudal, hereditary structure provided a
lack of upward mobility throughout all of society. So the quest for personal enlightenment was
checked by lack of encouragement and the void of personal independence. However, Confucianism
did support the established government s role of enhancing filial piety. Duke Ching of Ch`I asked
Confucius about government. Confucius answered, Let the ruler be a ruler, the subject a subject, the
father a father, the son a son. The lessons are scattered with words of honoring and obeying your
parents, Meng yi Tzu asked about being filial. The master answered, Never fail to comply. 1 This
application, in its transition to Japan included an individual s superiors, that is to say the daimyo, the
Shogun, and the Emperor.

How Did Galileo Change The World
Galileo was known as one of the best astronomers of all time. He change the way we saw the world by

Galileo showed early signs of a brilliant mind. He made toy for his friends at school; he enjoyed

The Chrysler Group s Merger with Fiat
The Chrysler Group LLC initial public offering (IPO) was initiated by a trust known as the United
Auto Workers (UAW) Retiree Medical Benefits Trust to cover medical benefits for retired workers
who owned 41.5% of the company. The trust was created in 2007 as a way of reducing Chrysler s
financial liability of paying existing workers and former employees health care costs and retirements.
Initially, the trust was not supposed to have a large share of its assets in the form of stock, but with
Chrysler running out of cash the following year, and falling into bankruptcy in 2009, the only asset it
could offer was its own stock.
Fiat and Chrysler formed a partnership in 2009, when Chrysler emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy
protection in the United States. Since then, it has gradually increased its ownership, and combining its
operations. Fiat owned 58.5% of Chrysler, and prior to the IPO offer in September 2013, Fiat long
wanted to acquire the remaining stake from UAW, but the two sides could not reach an agreement
over what is a fair price. As a result, UAW decided to file for IPO, using a provision of the bankruptcy
agreement that allowed it to require registration for an IPO.
However, after further negotiations, the Italian company settled a $4.35 billion deal to buy the
remaining shares (41.5%) from UAW in early January 2014, avoiding a planned IPO of the third
biggest American carmaker . As a result of the buyout, Chrysler became a wholly owned subsidiary of
Fiat.

I am very grateful and most honored for the invitation to address a Joint Meeting of the United States

government. My father suffered persecution for criticizing the regimen and faced allegations of
planning to immigrate to the US to overthrow the Castro s revolution. In 1961 he was sentenced to
prison for many years. The government continually harassed and intimidated my family and limited
resources of education and jobs for the whole family, before and after my father was released from
prison. Their repressive acts also included public acts of shaming and threats. Meetings were held near
our house and angry multitudes of people approached us yelling denigrating words, throwing eggs at

The Theory Of Games And Economic Behavior
Introduction Game theory is a branch of applied mathematics that provides tools for analyzing
situations in which players make judgements that are interdependent. This interdependence forces
opposing players to consider the other party s strategies when formulating their own. These opposing
players either have parallel, contradictory, or mixed interests they are trying achieve through the game.
A solution to a game describes the optimal decisions of the players and the outcomes that may result
from these decisions.
Although game theory can be and has been used to analyze mainstream games, its applications are
much broader. In fact, game theory was originally developed by the Hungarian born American
mathematician John von Neumann and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been used, for example, to determine what political or business alliances are likely to form, the
optimal price at which to sell products or services in the face of competition, whom to select for a jury,
and the behavior of certain animals and plants in their struggle for survival.
It is very difficult to categorize every game in one single theory. A number of theories have been
proposed, each applicable to different situations and each with its own concepts of what constitutes a
solution. This paper describes some simple games, discusses different theories, and outlines the
principles underlying game theory.
When analyzing any game, we make the following assumptions about all players:
Each player makes the best possible move.
Each player knows that his or her opponent is also making the best possible moves
Games can be split into many different categories: finite and infinite, cooperative, and non
cooperative, 1, 2, or n person games, variable or constant sum games. For the most part, this paper
will talk about non cooperative 2 person variable and constant sum games.
It is also important to note that there are many ways to describe a game; that is, to show the payoffs.
The three ways are: extensive, normal (strategic), or characteristic function form. Extensive form is
used to describe games where the sequence of moves changes the outcome of the

The Exploration Of The Arctic Oil Spills
In the Beginning Prior to today s mechanisms, Native Americans and European settlers retrieved
minor amounts of crude oil from holes in the ground. It was not until the mid nineteenth century when
Colonel Edwin Drake discovered the how to retrieve even larger quantities of oil. He realized that, by
drilling a hole deep enough, greater quantities of oil could be obtained. Colonel Edwin Drake
established the very first oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania. After Colonel Edwin Drake s discovery,
the search for oil followed. Through this quest, many oil reserves were located all over North

Cryosphere The cryosphere refers to the frozen water part of the Earth system including the frozen
parts of the ocean, such as waters surrounding the Arctic. Recent studies show that the cryosphere is
generally in a poor state, and scientific agreement stated that average global temperatures will
continues to increase over the next century. This means that the existing risk to these climatically
sensitive areas is increasing. In the past 20 years, the amount of summer sea ice in the Arctic has
decreased dramatically, and could even disappear completely within the next hundred years. Evidence
shows that some of these depletions in the cryosphere are human induced, specifically the
fragmentation of sea ice when oil tankers break through the frozen waters to make a passageway. This
fragmentation leads to global sea rise and habitat destruction for large predators such as polar bears
and seals, in addition to other Arctic wildlife.

Market Failure is Becoming Commonplace in Our Economy
Market Failure in Economics Market failures have become a common phenomenon and now that the
world has opened up things are much faster paced and things happen much quickly then how they
used to happen in the past. It is the over dependency of the nations on one another that have brought
these economic crisis on one another and the last century was full of such instances. There was no
winner or loser in such a case and in the end it was the common man who lost a lot. These are the
happenings, which suggested that it was about time checks and balances were put in place and in the
end it was necessary that such things could be avoided for good for the betterment of the people. The
crash of 1929 started a recession that lasted for almost a decade and it engulfed the entire world in the
problem. Had the people been able to predict it, it would have been avoided but that was not the case
and the crisis was so massive that prices shot up like anything and the jobs were slashed. At the end of
the day it was very costly and the entire world economy collapsed. It showed how vulnerable can the
free market economy be. It also showed how dreadful it can be if the market failure and the collapse
of an economy is not cushioned in the nick of time to reduce the potential damage that can be caused.
The crash on Monday 22nd October 1929 in New York Stock Exchange was probably the biggest
dilemma of economic nature faced by the world. It was a problem that engulfed the entire world

Dental Implant Equation
Comprehensive treatment of patients with missing teeth and/or hypodontia is difficult. It requires a
teamwork included an orthodontist, a prosthodontist, and a surgeon( in case of implant insertions) to
achieve ideal results. Dental implants may be considered the best treatment option for patients with
hypodontia. Using dental implants in patients with hypodontia may be challenging due to some
limitations such as reduced mesiodistal space, impairing the ideal positioning of implants. Too often,
surgeons attempting to place standard diameter implants have forced the restorative team to manage
these small dimensions with a lack of adequate prosthetics because of the size and diameter of the
fixture(nazarian) All these setuation requiring the use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, when adjacent teeth have been moved in order to accomplish adequate space for placing an
implant, the roots of these teeth may have tipped into closer proximity. In this condition there may be
inadequate space to place the implant between the apices and Thereby the use of resin bonded
restoration will be recommend. Tooth reduction is conservative (remaining in enamel) for RBFPD
preparation. This is one of numerous advantages of this restoration, however, The most common
technical reason for resin bonded restoration failure is debonding.5 Although it has been reported that
debonding does not appear to affect patient satisfaction19,38 and there is usually limited damage to
abutment teeth.(9) Recent systematic reviews have estimated the five year survival rates for
bridgework as 87.7% for resin bonded prostheses and just over 90% for conventional bridges

retained single crowns over the same five year follow up, resin bonded bridgework has the advantages
of being less invasive, requiring a shorter total treatment

10 December 2014
Bob Dylan Don t criticize what you can t understand, said Bob Dylan, one of the most influential
figures in folk music and music culture. As a protest singer growing up in a racially tense time
affected by the Vietnam War, he was heavily influenced by his background and the social issues of his
time. He rose to prominence from Blowin in the Wind (which became an enduring anthem) and many
other songs that influenced the young generation of the 1960s. Bob Dylan s interest for music started
from a young age. Born on May 24, 1941 as Robert Allen Zimmerman, he started writing poems at
age ten (Jarnow). By the time he was a teenager, he had taught himself to play the guitar, the piano,
and the harmonica, and participated in bands in high school. After that, he enrolled at the University of
Minnesota, dropping out when he became more involved in the music scene than his schoolwork. He
moved to New York City, where he went to Greenwich Village and met Woody Guthrie, one of his
music idols. He performed as Bob Dylan in nightclubs and coffee houses, gaining respect and
recognition from his peers. He released his self titled album, Bob Dylan, in 1962, followed by The
Freewheelin Bob Dylan in 1963. His second album contained protest songs such as Blowin in the
Wind, which became an enduring anthem of the 1960s. By the time he released his third album, he

Similarities Between Alice In Wonderland And The Victorian...
The Victorian novel was forged in the Victorian Era, hence it is impossible to conceive it without the
understanding of the context in which it sprouted. The Victorian Era comprises the reign of the Queen
Victoria, from her ascension to the throne in 1837 until her death 1901 (and subsequent coronation of
Edward). However, in literature the Victorian Age is also considered to begin with the death of Sir
Walter Scott in 1832 and sometimes it extends until 1914. It was a period of great changes, as the
British way of life based on landownership turned into a modern economy characterized by trade and
manufacturing. For England this shift was even harder to assimilate, being the first country to become
industrialized. The Victorian Period has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Alice s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) was probably inspired in his colleague s daughters, actually
the story originated in a boat trip with them. Alice is the little heroine girl who falls through a rabbit
hole into a world of fantasy. Its narrative structure, imagery and characters have been enormously
influential in the literature, particularly in the fantasy genre, and popular culture, as it has had
numerous film and story adaptations. On the other hand, Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice
Found There (1871) was not as popular even though it constituted a mirror image of the previous
novel. The sequel was featured by a darker mood, reflecting perhaps the changes in the author´s life,
as his father s death plunged him into a depression which lasted some years. Finally, Sylvie and Bruno
comprise the last novel of Dogson published in two volumes (1889 and 1892). It is made up of two
plots, the real world and time of its publication, the Victorian Era; and the fantasy world of Fairyland,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Government System
In the modern day, many societies are beginning to change and mould around modern beliefs and
customs, leading to a range of ways to distribute power in society. Each one has it s own merits and
demerits, though the disadvantages are more prominent than others. I will focus on three of the most
interesting examples of governmental systems; an extreme right wing Anarchy; a centralised one,
Monarchy; an extreme left wing, Autocracy. All of these have many different ways of power
distribution: Autocracy lays all the power on one person, Anarchy has no governmental structure and
Monarchy has a group of people leading the country; and each of these have many disadvantages.
Anarchy is a form of power distribution in which there is no governmental system. This system
consists of an absence of any governmental system and absolute freedom of an individual. In my
opinion, Anarchy is a precarious system as it is reliant on a person being truly good. In an anarchist ...

A monarchist system will run in the family will go from the oldest heir down the family. This means
that the monarchist system is like a closed circuit and the public have no choice in the matters of their
country. In other governmental systems there is almost always a way for the public to have a choice,
for example in autocracy, though the leader will make all the decisions the actual leader is often voted
for by the public. This means that a country with a monarchy in leadership would be reliant on the
monarchy to make all of the decisions and all of the right decisions. Another demerit of Monarchy, is
that the views of the reigning monarch would most likely be old fashioned as the rule of a king or
queen normally spans across two to four decades. Over the reign of a monarch many things can
change but if the monarch is brought up in a time in which these changes were non existent the ideal

The Hardships Of Lords And Ladies In The Middle Ages
In the Middle Ages, even the higher class people, such as lords and ladies (wives of the lords), faced

because of their status, they still had difficulties in life.
During the Middle Ages, lords frequently trained for battle and risked their lives in wars. The World

Cosimo De Medici s Influence On Florence
The Medici family earned their status by commerce rather than warfare, marriage or inheritance, and
they were the first princely dynasty to do so. Cosimo de Medici never held office, but ran Florence
through his wealth and strategic mind from 1434 1537. He played a large part in the patronage of the
arts and the political development of the city. His patronage allowed men to achieve such impressive
architecture. Brunelleschi, for example, who restored the church at San Lorenzo. Cosimo centered the
city around cultural and creative achievements. He allowed Florence to enter the age of the
Renaissance by proving himself and his policies to the people, and making the citizens of Florence
proud.
Cosimo de Medici was born on September 27, 1389 in the city of Florence, Italy. He was also known
as Cosimo the Elder, Cosimo il Vecchio (Italian), and Pater Patriae (Latin), meaning Father of his
country (Encyclopedia Britannica Online). Cosimo received the best education available during the

Identity in Cindy Sherman´s Contemporary Art
Identity is one of the most significant aspects in the discourses of contemporary art. An artist s identity
can reveal cultural and personal truths about them through the employment of specific subjects,
techniques, and colors incorporated into their artwork. Cindy Sherman, the famous feminist artist,
portrays a plethora of different identities in her photographic works in order to highlight societal
issues such as stereotypes, perceptions, and biases. Although Sherman does not blatantly set out to
become an activist for femininity, audiences inherently view her work as attempting to cross
boundaries and bring forth political statements because of the myriad androgynous, feminine, and
sexist facets integrated into her images. In order to display the importance of identity in culture, Cindy
Sherman refrains from revealing her own identity in her art and because of these ambiguous images,
she allows for the identities of her audience to be reflected back at them, bringing forth awareness of
inequality, while quietly calling for the anticipated change of these enduring stigmas. Cindy Sherman
began focusing her creative outlets through photography during her time at Buffalo State College, NY
in 1972 1976. Despite her future success with photography, Sherman had considerable difficulty
honing the techniques of darkroom development. Nevertheless, the real magic clearly displayed in her
photographs began to occur in the very confines of her bedroom few years later. According to

civil unity through erections of interactive, multi functional structures (also, the Alpine architecture).

A comprehensive vision of combing arts from multiple sources to create an architectural totality goes
hand in hand with the socialist utopia, and this vision is kept unchanged in today s China: the Great
Hall of the People continues to carry the same functions as those in the 60s and 70s, stunning the
viewers from abroad, in Beijing, and through televisions. The political structure of China remains
unchanged, but the chief governing program shifted from class struggle (jieji douzheng 阶级斗争) to
economic construction (jingji jianshe 经济建设). The economic boom enhances materialism and
individualism, and endangers the spiritual realm of China. Then, someone vows to rescue the spiritual

Introduction
It is hard to accept that nowadays, organizations get along without having an astute and decisive
information system. Providing a reliable and coherence information system requires a solid security
framework that ensures confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authenticity of the critical
organizational assets. Human factors play a significant role for information security. In particular,
human characteristics behavior impacts information security and ultimately associated risks.
Information Security and Types of Human Factor Errors
Humans are consistently referred to as the weakest link in security. (Schneier, 2007) An exclusive
focus on the technical aspects of security, without due consideration of how the human interacts with
the system, is clearly inadequate. This section includes the types of human factor errors that can lead
to security violations. A number of reasons for these errors will also be discussed. Information security
breaches can be categorized in a number of different ways. There are five different types of human
factor errors, which can be used to explain information security breaches. First, there are acts of
omission, in which people forget to perform a necessary action. For

The Heat Stress Of Firefighters
Firefighters are subjected to significant levels of physical exertion, exposure to higher tempera ture
environments, and smoke during the firefighting activities. The physical exertion includes the ability
to carry heavy loads, for example oxygen tanks, removal of fallen building structures, rescue of a
victim, etc. To be able to work in such inhospitable environments, firefighters wear a protective suit,
which shields them from the high temperatures. However, the protective suit re stricts the heat outflow
from the human body to its immediate surroundings. A combination of the physical load, surroundings
with higher temperature, and protective suit leads to heat buildup within the human body. An
unchecked increase in body heat will lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inability to dissipate the heat is detrimental to the fire fighter s health and can result in heat related
illnesses, including heat stroke and may contribute towards sudden cardiac events.
1.2 Computational whole body model
To suitably dissipate the excess body heat, there are two options: 1) use of cooling mech anisms, and
2) limiting the duration of the activity, or both. The limit for the duration of activity can be predicted
with the help of algorithms based on experimental data [4], human body simula tors [5, 6], or
computational models [7]. Algorithms are developed based on the average re sponse of the human
subjects tested in controlled environmental simulators. The variations in the local environment are
limited based on the capacity of the experimental setup. Conversely, using a computational model
includes the advantages of: 1) better manipulation of the human body ge ometry, and 2) the possibility
to impose and test unfavorable boundary conditions such as expo sure to fire. Computational models
allow for the integration of the human thermoregulatory sys tem with a physiologically realistic
geometry to determine the thermal interactions of the model with the environment. However, the main
drawback of the computational models is that their results are dependent on the quality of input data
and boundary conditions. A computational model that resembles the human body is

Counter Terrorism Laws And Human Rights
COUNTER TERRORISM LAWS AND HUMAN RIGHTS
The moral rule is not when one is about to kill you, pre empt him and kill him first, but rather when
one is about to kill you, do everything necessary in order to thwart his intention. Accordingly, if there
is no alternative to killing him, strike first. If there is an alternative other than killing him, thwart his
intention without striking first, without killing him.
I Introduction
Human rights and national security are at times perceived to be at odds with one another. When
government officials speak about national security, their arguments rest primarily upon the premise
that protecting human rights and civil liberties is at times subservient to protecting national security. In
India, the government has passed stringent laws protecting national security and combating terrorist
threats, but these same laws cannot pass the test of human rights scrutiny. The international human
rights framework, conventions or treaties to which India was a signatory or ratifying party, also
justified the limitations on governmental powers. However, the contemporary reality of Indian
executive governance demonstrates the weaknesses and inadequacies of the treaties and conventions.
As a result, police, military and para military forces continue to violate human rights. This problem
underscores the need to develop a culture amongst law enforcement officials that respects human
rights as a sine qua non for the preservation of the rule of law.

Why Pitbulls Are Not Fair
I don t think that it is fair nor do i think that pitbulls should get hated like they Do all around the
world.,
Also how people say they are not A SAFE PET .
I think about how there are other dog breeds that attack
People but instead people always are discriminating on pitbulls.
Starting with my first Reason is that it is not fair that people try to hide other dog attacks. I thought
this because more people will throw out pitbull attacks but they will try to hide other attacks for dogs
with a better reputation such as labradors. MY evidence from the passage is Despite the fact that other
breeds of dogs can and do attack citizens, these attacks go unmentioned at the news .
This just shows people are against pitbulls in an unfair way.
I have another reason about why i think pitbulls are treated unfairly. This reason in being is i think that
most of the time if the news doesn t know who the dog breed is that commited the attack they will just
say it was a pitbull . Here is my evidence from the passage The media and the Pitbull . If a Dog breed
is unknown, News media will often call it a pitbull . I think this is unfair because you shouldn t just
jump to conclusion like that and say the dog is a pitbull without confirming it to the world. ... Show

  • 2. Essay on Public Service Broadcasting Within The Plural... Introduction British Broadcasting Corporation [BBC] has played its role as a Public Service Broadcasting [PSB] in England since 1926. It was set up on Baron Reith s hands as an educative media building public s character by establishing and socializing cultural value to the society via its programs. Hitherto, BBC s work focuses on the cultural connection among the society and plays a role as its guardian rather than pays attention to the diversity among them (Curran Seaton, 2003). However, some critiques about its existence started raising in the end of 1980s as the appearance of the Sky Media commercial satellite television company which gave larger opportunity for public to choose what they want to see. Recently, one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, its operation focuses more on fostering the civilization and democracy rather than to gain revenue. Besides, it also must be willing for a limited autonomy in its operation since the government has the authority to control its working mechanism. The core objection of this form of broadcasting is to serve public by providing quality information and facilitating public discourse to enforce democracy and advance civilization. In term of quality information, PSB plays a role as socio cultural agent whose duty is to perpetuate the high culture and raise public awareness as an united national entity. Furthermore, in its role as a discursive arena, PSB exists as a practice of Habermas idea of public sphere where public as a political community exercise their freedom of assembly and freedom of information to solve their social problem as well as to reach an agreement about the common good which is expected to affect the policy in a society (Hauser, 1998). To guarantee that this democratic function works well, PSB must guarantee that its operation is impartially detached from either state or market interest. In this case, BBC is a good example. Since it s mobilization from private company to public corporation, BBC operates as a form of quangos (Butsch, 2007) which work as an independent organisation playing a governmental role. Besides being a writer, he was also an historian, philosopher, and a French lawyer who belonged to one of the main representatives of the Illustration (European cultural and intellectual movement). Voltaire was part of a noble family from the province of Poitou Charentes. He studied latin and greek in the private school Jusuita Louis le Grand during Louis XIV last years of his reign. On 1706 Voltaire wrote Amulius y Numitor, which later on small fragments of it were found and later published in the nineteenth century. • 4. My Experience At The Mountain View Hospital Reflection This semester I volunteered my time at the Mountain View Hospital in the Women s Department, specifically in the postpartum section. I chose this volunteer opportunity because it significantly relates to my career path and passion. I am biological sciences major and Psychology minor (pre medical) and the goal of my medical career is to become an Obstetrician/gynecologist and then potentially specialize in the fertility and infertility of women. Throughout the course of this semester I would volunteer at Mountain View on Friday evenings. My main job in the postpartum section was to attend to the basic needs of the new mothers, I would provide water, ice chips, snacks, and clean linens when needed. I manned the main entrance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I can do other things to provide care, compassion, and relief to the post partum mothers. On one of my days volunteering I had a particularly nice experience, which reflects how volunteers can provide a service to their community through small acts of kindness. A mother just had her third child, her other two children, who seemed to be no older that 5 or 6 years old, were restless and quite out of control. There was a male figure who came and went a few times, but he didn t seem to have any attachment to the other two children. The mother seemed overwhelmed probably because of the exhaustion and stress of childbirth. Also, she was stuck in bed while her incisions from her C section healed. According to the nurses, she was only permitted to walk a lap around the nurse s station every few hours, let alone chase around her other rowdy children. So I had an idea: in the post partum department we have these wagons that are decorated with characters from Winnie the Pooh and Finding Nemo. To offer the mother some rest, I asked if I could pull her children around the Women s Department in the wagon. The mother accepted my offer and I loaded the two children, Leah and Ryder, into the wagon. I pulled the two kids around for about 45 minutes. When I came back to the mother s room, she thanked me many times. It was personally rewarding to help the mother, even though it was just a small gesture. I do not see the volunteer coordinator ... We Americans love our prepositional phrases, such as: Out of sight, off the charts, in the groove, on the ball, up the creek, down the tubes, in the dumper, out the yin yang, off the wall, around the bend, below the belt, under the weather, and of course under the table. Agathon hosted a gathering for a small group of philosophers to talk about how they perceive love and what their own unique ideas are of beauty, virtue, honor, or anything else that may fall under the category of love. Eros, or Love, is a god that the philosophers have decided to praise with a speech of their own perspective. You get to see each philosophers different style and way of thinking within their speeches. All philosophers have agreed to drink while each other is speaking, but there is no pressure from one another or one s self to drink excessively. Psyche which will never lose its charm, more than for the body, which must inevitably do so (Plato s Symposium, Rosen 85). I believe this particular statement to be true when searching for love because through time, your body has the possibility of becoming weak, while on the other hand it may be easier to keep your mind healthy and fresh. The mind can have memories and abilities that you have had as a child all the way up to when you become elderly. The mind can remain youthful, while the body has no choice but to age. The common lover looks for people based on how attractive they are, or if they may be wealthy or powerful in some way. The good side of love would put the beauty of the mind first before the body, since it can remain youthful in some sense. Those who put the love of the body first may just keep moving on to the next one, and may not find that special person to be fully happy and settle down with, although they may see beauty in the body, they may not see beauty in the mind which is not clear to ... Concentric Or Eccentric Training This article is about the modifications to muscle strength, velocity, and neural activity as well as any morphological changes subsequently going through either eccentric or concentric training. Eccentric training has illustrated to have adequately good effects on muscle hypotrophy, strengthening the muscle, and has made efficient exercises for injured athletes going through rehabilitation. But with eccentric training it makes lower concentric but vaster eccentric strength enhancements compared with concentric training, due to eccentric and concentric training providing dissimilar stimuli to the muscles. An improvement is necessary in obtaining the information of the potential differences of morphological and neural adaptations in the early stages of eccentric and concentric training in order to improve musculoskeletal rehabilitation programs and there has been a lack of researching the effects of resistance training. The purpose of the article is to compare what effects and the differences six weeks of concentric or eccentric training could possibly do to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Questions On Dispute Resolution Mechanism CIVIL 790 Civil Engineering Administration Assignment 1 Dispute Resolution Mechanism Disputes are a common occurrence when dealing with construction contracts, and can arise in a number of different areas. This bulwark helped resist change and development in Japan, although it continued throughout the western world. Following two hundred years of self imposed seclusion from the rest of the world, the forceful re entry of the foreigner brought about considerable change in Japan. While managing the foreign threat, there was also an imbalance of power in the current feudal system of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This imbalance created uncertainty for Japan and the imperialistic foreigners. Throughout the various themes presented in The Analects, there are some particular teachings implicit within Japans feudalistic samurai society. The general discussion of virtues and morals promoted within The Analects leads the student to strive to achieve gentleman status or if possible sage status. While the broad application of these lessons did occur in Japan, there are inherent differences with its practice in China. While the movement of an individual in social and economic stature in China was based on the quality of work they were able to complete through their apparent knowledge and work ethic. The same flexibility did not apply in Japan. The rigid feudal, hereditary structure provided a lack of upward mobility throughout all of society. So the quest for personal enlightenment was checked by lack of encouragement and the void of personal independence. However, Confucianism did support the established government s role of enhancing filial piety. Duke Ching of Ch`I asked Confucius about government. Confucius answered, Let the ruler be a ruler, the subject a subject, the father a father, the son a son. • 13. The Chrysler Group s Merger with Fiat The Chrysler Group LLC initial public offering (IPO) was initiated by a trust known as the United Auto Workers (UAW) Retiree Medical Benefits Trust to cover medical benefits for retired workers who owned 41.5% of the company. The trust was created in 2007 as a way of reducing Chrysler s financial liability of paying existing workers and former employees health care costs and retirements. Initially, the trust was not supposed to have a large share of its assets in the form of stock, but with Chrysler running out of cash the following year, and falling into bankruptcy in 2009, the only asset it could offer was its own stock. Fiat and Chrysler formed a partnership in 2009, when Chrysler emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States. Since then, it has gradually increased its ownership, and combining its operations. Fiat owned 58.5% of Chrysler, and prior to the IPO offer in September 2013, Fiat long wanted to acquire the remaining stake from UAW, but the two sides could not reach an agreement over what is a fair price. As a result, UAW decided to file for IPO, using a provision of the bankruptcy agreement that allowed it to require registration for an IPO. However, after further negotiations, the Italian company settled a $4.35 billion deal to buy the remaining shares (41.5%) from UAW in early January 2014, avoiding a planned IPO of the third biggest American carmaker . In the past 20 years, the amount of summer sea ice in the Arctic has decreased dramatically, and could even disappear completely within the next hundred years. Evidence shows that some of these depletions in the cryosphere are human induced, specifically the fragmentation of sea ice when oil tankers break through the frozen waters to make a passageway. Cosimo de Medici never held office, but ran Florence through his wealth and strategic mind from 1434 1537. He played a large part in the patronage of the arts and the political development of the city. His patronage allowed men to achieve such impressive architecture. Brunelleschi, for example, who restored the church at San Lorenzo. Cosimo centered the city around cultural and creative achievements. He allowed Florence to enter the age of the Renaissance by proving himself and his policies to the people, and making the citizens of Florence proud. Cosimo de Medici was born on September 27, 1389 in the city of Florence, Italy. He was also known as Cosimo the Elder, Cosimo il Vecchio (Italian), and Pater Patriae (Latin), meaning Father of his country (Encyclopedia Britannica Online). Cosimo received the best education available during the 14th century (The Medici Family). He grew up with a sense of classical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. Identity in Cindy Sherman´s Contemporary Art Identity is one of the most significant aspects in the discourses of contemporary art. An artist s identity can reveal cultural and personal truths about them through the employment of specific subjects, techniques, and colors incorporated into their artwork. Cindy Sherman, the famous feminist artist, portrays a plethora of different identities in her photographic works in order to highlight societal issues such as stereotypes, perceptions, and biases. Although Sherman does not blatantly set out to become an activist for femininity, audiences inherently view her work as attempting to cross boundaries and bring forth political statements because of the myriad androgynous, feminine, and sexist facets integrated into her images. In order to display the importance of identity in culture, Cindy Sherman refrains from revealing her own identity in her art and because of these ambiguous images, she allows for the identities of her audience to be reflected back at them, bringing forth awareness of inequality, while quietly calling for the anticipated change of these enduring stigmas. Cindy Sherman began focusing her creative outlets through photography during her time at Buffalo State College, NY in 1972 1976. Despite her future success with photography, Sherman had considerable difficulty honing the techniques of darkroom development. Nevertheless, the real magic clearly displayed in her photographs began to occur in the very confines of her bedroom few years later. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Great Hall Of The People The Great Hall of the People was executed after the chaos of the wars as well as the initial success of the industrialization, and it was a crowning work in the Tian anmen Square. It is as if in the historical context of the German Expressionist architecture as the total work of art with an intention to generate civil unity through erections of interactive, multi functional structures (also, the Alpine architecture). For the Chinese Communist leaders and the population, the Great Hall symbolizes the socialist visions of grandeur, surplus, equality, all inclusiveness, and collectivism. A comprehensive vision of combing arts from multiple sources to create an architectural totality goes hand in hand with the socialist utopia, and this vision is kept unchanged in today s China: the Great Hall of the People continues to carry the same functions as those in the 60s and 70s, stunning the viewers from abroad, in Beijing, and through televisions. The political structure of China remains unchanged, but the chief governing program shifted from class struggle (jieji douzheng 阶级斗争) to economic construction (jingji jianshe 经济建设). The economic boom enhances materialism and individualism, and endangers the spiritual realm of China. Then, someone vows to rescue the spiritual and aesthetic declines by sponsoring a museum in Southern China. III. Contents Human Factor and Security risks associated with Information Technologies 1 Introduction 1 Information Security and Types of Human Factor Errors 1 System Security Threats 2 IT related risk 3 Bibliography 4 Introduction It is hard to accept that nowadays, organizations get along without having an astute and decisive information system. Providing a reliable and coherence information system requires a solid security framework that ensures confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authenticity of the critical organizational assets. Human factors play a significant role for information security. In particular, human characteristics behavior impacts information security and ultimately associated risks. Information Security and Types of Human Factor Errors Humans are consistently referred to as the weakest link in security. (Schneier, 2007) An exclusive focus on the technical aspects of security, without due consideration of how the human interacts with the system, is clearly inadequate. This section includes the types of human factor errors that can lead to security violations. A number of reasons for these errors will also be discussed. Information security breaches can be categorized in a number of different ways. There are five different types of human factor errors, which can be used to explain information security breaches. First, there are acts of omission, in which people forget to perform a necessary action. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Heat Stress Of Firefighters Firefighters are subjected to significant levels of physical exertion, exposure to higher tempera ture environments, and smoke during the firefighting activities. The physical exertion includes the ability to carry heavy loads, for example oxygen tanks, removal of fallen building structures, rescue of a victim, etc. To be able to work in such inhospitable environments, firefighters wear a protective suit, which shields them from the high temperatures. However, the protective suit re stricts the heat outflow from the human body to its immediate surroundings. A combination of the physical load, surroundings with higher temperature, and protective suit leads to heat buildup within the human body. An unchecked increase in body heat will lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inability to dissipate the heat is detrimental to the fire fighter s health and can result in heat related illnesses, including heat stroke and may contribute towards sudden cardiac events. 1.2 Computational whole body model To suitably dissipate the excess body heat, there are two options: 1) use of cooling mech anisms, and 2) limiting the duration of the activity, or both. The limit for the duration of activity can be predicted with the help of algorithms based on experimental data [4], human body simula tors [5, 6], or computational models [7]. Algorithms are developed based on the average re sponse of the human subjects tested in controlled environmental simulators. The variations in the local environment are limited based on the capacity of the experimental setup. Conversely, using a computational model includes the advantages of: 1) better manipulation of the human body ge ometry, and 2) the possibility to impose and test unfavorable boundary conditions such as expo sure to fire. Computational models allow for the integration of the human thermoregulatory sys tem with a physiologically realistic geometry to determine the thermal interactions of the model with the environment. However, the main drawback of the computational models is that their results are dependent on the quality of input data and boundary conditions. A computational model that resembles the human body is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Counter Terrorism Laws And Human Rights COUNTER TERRORISM LAWS AND HUMAN RIGHTS The moral rule is not when one is about to kill you, pre empt him and kill him first, but rather when one is about to kill you, do everything necessary in order to thwart his intention. Accordingly, if there is no alternative to killing him, strike first. If there is an alternative other than killing him, thwart his intention without striking first, without killing him. I Introduction Human rights and national security are at times perceived to be at odds with one another. When government officials speak about national security, their arguments rest primarily upon the premise that protecting human rights and civil liberties is at times subservient to protecting national security. In India, the government has passed stringent laws protecting national security and combating terrorist threats, but these same laws cannot pass the test of human rights scrutiny. The international human rights framework, conventions or treaties to which India was a signatory or ratifying party, also justified the limitations on governmental powers. However, the contemporary reality of Indian executive governance demonstrates the weaknesses and inadequacies of the treaties and conventions. As a result, police, military and para military forces continue to violate human rights. This problem underscores the need to develop a culture amongst law enforcement officials that respects human rights as a sine qua non for the preservation of the rule of law. ... • 36. Why Pitbulls Are Not Fair I don t think that it is fair nor do i think that pitbulls should get hated like they Do all around the world., Also how people say they are not A SAFE PET . I think about how there are other dog breeds that attack People but instead people always are discriminating on pitbulls. Starting with my first Reason is that it is not fair that people try to hide other dog attacks. I thought this because more people will throw out pitbull attacks but they will try to hide other attacks for dogs with a better reputation such as labradors. MY evidence from the passage is Despite the fact that other breeds of dogs can and do attack citizens, these attacks go unmentioned at the news . This just shows people are against pitbulls in an unfair way. I have another reason about why i think pitbulls are treated unfairly. This reason in being is i think that most of the time if the news doesn t know who the dog breed is that commited the attack they will just say it was a pitbull . Here is my evidence from the passage The media and the Pitbull . If a Dog breed is unknown, News media will often call it a pitbull . I think this is unfair because you shouldn t just jump to conclusion like that and say the dog is a pitbull without confirming it to the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
