Essay On Tinker Vs Des Moines
In the Tinker vs. Des Moines court case the judges decided for Tinker even though both arguments
from the lawyers where not well made. The judge s decision was made by who they thought they
should go for even though both sides had bad arguments and made a bigger deal of this case than what
it should really be. Tinker was fighting for the right of freedom of speech, even though they were
using their freedom of speech for a bad cause. They should have not have used their freedom of
speech against the rule of the school because they were going against authority. They should have
used it for the good of the school. Des Moines was fighting for their right of authority, even though
they were using that authority for a bad cause also. They should ... Show more content on

Truly, I don t know anything about this court but I did read the website of what happened but yet
somehow the Tinkers won in the court case mainly because the school did not lay any good arguments
on the table. The school started out with an understandable argument but then it just went downhill
from there because they did something totally wrong when they should have done something better
about it. Even though the Tinkers were doing wrong in suing the school but they did that because the
school kicked their kids out. The school should have just talked to the parents about the situation and
ask them politely to take the armbands off instead of just making a rule about it and kicking them out.
I think this court case had a really bad reason for being made into a court case. Even though there was
a reason they should have found a better one to make a court case. In this court case we somehow
argued for five to ten minutes with each argument that the lawyers laid on the table. We then went out
and voted for money to be given to the Tinkers and to let them wear their armbands. So now the
school should think of how they re going to treat matters better instead of just kicking kids out for
wearing an armband that says what they think of the Vietnam War. So I think that armbands are
allowed because they re armbands why make a big deal out

Summary Of The Death And Life Of Great American Cities By...
In the introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs acknowledges city
planning and the need for a reform by addressing the effects of beautification and the lack of resources
and support.
In her introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs introduces city
planning and presents the reader with real life view. She also explains the principles of planning and
the effects it contains on social and economic issues. Jacobs highlights the theory of beautification and
the lack of city planners understanding the needs of the general people. She continues by
acknowledging the Decentrists and the common disciplines with modern city planners such as

Jacobs addresses the most common idea of city planning as beautification and questions the effect it
has on restoring a neighborhood. Jacobs states Handsome is as Handsome does. All that glitters are
not gold (Jacobs 15). As much as the city can be beautified and full of parks and land it does not make
up for the needs of the people. Jacob provides the example of a housing project and a lawn; Everyone
in the housing project was upset and seem to have an opinion on having a lawn, when someone finally
asked why and bothered to listen to the people, they realized that the people wanted a space to come
together but unfortunately no one had bothered to ask. (15) Unfortunately, due to the lack of resources
it is house projects like this that are often referred to as slums. Jacobs explains that ideally tax money
would be used to fix the communities and allow for beautification. However due to economical stance
of many neighborhoods and the city planning ideology it seems close to impossible. Jacobs writes

According to the National Audit Office (2007) the National Health Service (NHS) spends around £4.2
billion a year in curing obesity and its associated illnesses.
The Hillingdon Profile (2008) put forward that out of 149 local authorities in England, Hillingdon is
classified as the 58th most deprived in terms of income deprivation affecting children. Hillingdon is
also one of the least diverse in terms of ethnicity (appendices 1 3). In 2008 the number of obese cases
recorded by HPCT amongst adolescents was 6.9%. In comparison with England it was estimated that
14% of boys and 17% of girls aged between 2 and 15 were obese. The National Institute of Clinical
Health and Excellence (2006) propound that Asian children are four times more likely to be obese
than children of other ethnic groups. In Central Hillingdon Asians and Afro Caribbeans make up most
of the population and have a higher percentage of obesity.
Causes of obesity include lifestyle choices such as diets, lack of physical activity, psychological,
environmental, genetics, medical conditions, effects of medication, lack of awareness and its

Analysis Of After Apple Picking By Robert Frost
After Apple Picking is an early work by Robert Frost. The poem portrays the hypnagogia of sleep by
describing the fleeting moments before the speaker falls into deep slumber. The poem is written in the
first person point of view and is most likely a depiction of Frost himself. Frost wrote this poem when
he was around forty to fifty years old. In the twentieth century, he would have been considered to be
close to the end of his life and this could have been his initial inspiration for the poem. Allusions to
winter and frost also lead to the idea that Robert Frost may have been referring to himself throughout
the poem. Whether or not the speaker is Frost is of little importance, what does matter is that the
speaker is someone who has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mid level diction, that dominates most of the poem, is highlighted in these first couple of lines.
This level of diction creates a happy tone that celebrates heaven and the afterlife while contemplating
the reality of life here on earth. Phrases such as I was well and I could tell create a sense of rhyme and
repetition that assures us that the speaker is still in control and doing fine, this initial portrayal of the
speaker conflicts with the rest of the poem which takes on a more melancholy mood after line
eighteen. Visual and olfactory imagery are also portrayed through specific word choice. Words such as
essence and scent introduce the element of smell in the poem, while words such as glass, skimmed,
and hoary convey the visual element. The vivid pastoral sensory imagery in the poem emphasizes the
image of an apple, this motif alludes to the fall in Genesis and becomes an allegory for the Garden of
Eden. Likewise, the speaker s thoughts of falling ice allude to Freud s iceberg personality theory.
These allusions suggest both worldly corruption and a loss of innocence. This is emphasized through
the repetition of the word fall, which in this case has the connotation of sin associated with it. The
imagery used here also draws biblical allusions to Jacob s ladder. The allusions draw attention to the
corruption and downfall of mankind. Through the use of figurative language, the extended metaphor

Theme Of Anna Karenina
The context of the next significant death in the novel decidedly contrasts the death of Nicholas Levin.
Anna Karenina, after falling from grace and her elevated social stratum, desperately searches for
meaning in her life. She fears that she no longer provides Count Vronsky with any sort of pleasure and
constantly seeks to improve herself in order to keep his attention and love focused on her. In a
constant state of inadequacy, Anna cannot even sleep without a heavy dose of opium. Anna grows
dependent upon the drug, and one night, She poured out her usual dose of opium and thought that she
need only drink the whole phial in order to die, it seemed to her so easy and simple that she began
thinking with pleasure of how he would suffer, repent, and love her memory when it was too late
(Tolstoy 680). Tolstoy foreshadows Anna s demise in this passage. Anna feels that, were she to kill
herself, she could finally solicit the attention and love she craves so adamantly. However, on further
considering this avenue, All was darkness. Death! she thought. And such terror came upon her
(Tolstoy 680). She quickly dismisses this thought, desiring to live her life fully. However, the seeds of
something horrible are planted in her mind. Those seeds sprout as Anna continues to trudge through
her lackluster life. Anna stumbles upon the train tracks, and, Suddenly remembering the man who had
been run over the day she first met Vronsky, she realized what she had to do (Tolstoy 694). Anna

Office Automation System:
Office automation systems can take many forms, but their primary function remains the same
throughout, and that is to facilitate information exchange between people in an organization. Some of
these systems may include word processors, spreadsheets, email clients, file sharing systems,
databases, etc. The main benefit behind this type of technology is that the more freely that information
flows around an office, the more productive the environment is. With the increase in production, the
organization can raise its profits considerably as the efficiency of data exchange increases, allowing a
decrease in the time it takes to deliver the product to the customer. (Mills, Kevin (June 30, 2011) IT

Should the United States have Mandatory Military...
The price of freedom should be borne by all, rich or poor. I learned this first hand as a United States
Army Recruiter and a volunteer soldier who fought in two wars representing my country. As a military
recruiter from 1971 to 1991, I was tasked with soliciting men and women who were high school
graduates to enlist into the United States Army. Often times I would call a home to speak to a graduate
about joining the army, and a mother would answer; I would tell her the purpose of my call, and often
times her answer would be not my son ! I would often replay, well mam, if not your son, then whose
son ! I very seldom got an answer but I often wondered if I could read her mind, would she be
thinking about whether I should be contacting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Union Enrollment Act drafted all able bodied men between twenty and forty five years of age to
help fight the American Civil War. However, the US did not use conscription again until 1917 in
preparation for war in Europe, known as World War I (Encarta). In 1917, the United States Congress
passed the Selective Draft Act. This act created a government office to oversee conscription.
Additionally, the act also authorized local draft boards to select eligible individuals for conscription to
fight the war. Of course this act was challenged by many organizations, but was upheld by the
Supreme Court in 1918. The court held; Article I of the Constitution gives Congress the power to raise
and support Armies (245 U.S. 366, 38 S. Ct. 159, 62 L. Ed. 349 [1918]) (West s Encyclopedia of
American Law). Conscription continued until it was suspended in 1973.
What about today, wouldn t conscription be important today in determining whether the price of
freedom should be borne by all, rich or poor? Of course, there are many social experts such as Steve
Hammons, a writer for the American Chronicle, who feels the need for reactivating the military draft
or conscription. Hammons feels this need is based partly on the requirements to adequately staff the
Army, because today, there is an unending global expansion of U.S. military operations. Hammons
also tells us, others such as, Congressman Charles Rangel (D NY) has expressed an opinion that

It is forecasted that global paid product placement spending will grow at a compound annual rate of
27.9% in the 2005 2010 period to $7.55 billion, as product placement growth continues to
significantly outpace that of traditional advertising and marketing. The overall value of the worldwide
product placement market, including the barter/exposure value of non paid placements, will increase
18.4% compounded annually to $13.96 billion in 2010 (PQ Media, August 2006). It is therefore not
surprising that the concept of product placement is daily discussed, applied, and reported in the world
of professional marketers (Russell and Stern, 2006; O Loughlin, 2006; Levin, 2006; Karrh et al.
2003;).

The Rising Importance of Product Placement in Europe While brand or product placement is
prevalent in the US because of vague or nonexistent regulations, the transition is moving slower in
Europe due to stricter rules governing the use of product placement (PQ Media, 2006). In Europe, The

Essay on Using the Power of both Phonics and Whole Language
Whichever way you learned to read, chances are you never knew what the terms phonics or whole
language meant. However, these are the terms that are at opposite ends of an on going debate over the
best way to teach children how to read. Simply stated, supporters of the whole language approach
think children s literature, writing activities, and communication activities can be used across the
curriculum to teach reading; backers of phonics instruction insist that a direct, sequential mode of
teaching enables students to master reading in an organized way (Cromwell, 1997).
Critics of phonics claim that the curriculum is too boring, that the endless worksheets will turn
children away from the joy that could be reading and writing. ... Show more content on

Children learn, memorize, and apply rules, formulas, and patterns of reading and speech (Curtis, 1997;
Wiber, 2002). This approach has also been called a bottom up approach because the teachers believe
that by focusing on the smaller parts and equipping children with the ability to figure out new words,
meaning and comprehension will follow. The strong supporters on this side of the debate want phonics
taught in an intensive and systematic manner (Strickland, 1998). These phonics supporters criticize
whole language, claiming that the approach is too disorganized and phonics taught in such an
incidental manner that some children will never have the right tools to learn to read well (Cromwell,
1997).
There are many advantages to using phonics. Children who learn to read by using phonics generally
have better pronunciation, spelling, and word recognition. They have been given a tool that can be
used over and over again while reading and writing, without having to memorize vocabulary and
spelling of the words (Curtis, 1997). There are also many examples of how explicit, intensive and
systematic phonics can work well in classrooms. One of these examples is the reading program
developed in California. After years of implementing whole language instruction in their classrooms,
reading scores in the state dropped to be among the nation s worst.

he makes every wild planned event that he comes up with possible. The three friends (Ferris, Sloane

school, exploring the great city of Chicago. As they carry on with their plan, they eventually run into

them to how the movie and what it tried to portray, the main theme was brought down to FEAR; I
mean even though we see all the tricks Ferris plays, no high school kid would ever try to pull such
stunts because of the fear of getting caught. Cameron was pretty much the human form of anxiety
(that is until he was silent and motionless). In all honesty and fairness, it was not his fault. From
somethings said in the movie, we can tell what type of parents he had, remote and strict specifically
his dad, a man who loves his Ferrari like it was his son and Cameron gets no love from him. Ferris, on
the other hand, is the direct opposite of Cameron. As fearless as Jack Ripper prowling the streets on a

Physical And Psychological Effects Of War In The Sniper By...
War is something that can change the very principles of a person, it can change a person and leave
multiple effects that can last for their entire life. The sniper is fighting in a civil war where friends and
family can turn into enemies at a moment s notice. The fight is between the Republicans and the Free
Staters, the protagonist is a sniper for the Republicans. Throughout the story, we go into the state of
mind of the main character and learn some ramifications that he gained in the war. The text, The
Sniper by Liam O Flaherty shows us the physical and psychological results of war, that happens to
people.
The easiest effect that is found throughout the text would be the physical effects, that happens all the
time. Midway through the text without a moment s notice he was perfectly fine and then out of
nowhere he gets shot. We find out about his injury from the quote from the story, His forearm was
dead. I m hit, he muttered. He just finished taking out the informant and the guy in the turret, not even
a minute passed and the sniper gets shot causing an injury that might never fully heal. Hunger is an
important thing that gets ignored in war and people starve for hours not being able to eat food. In the
second paragraph, the author pointed that out in these two sentences, He was eating a sandwich
hungrily. He had eaten nothing since morning. The sniper wasn t able to eat since the morning he
would definitely be starving at that point of time. To compensate

Difference Between Tourism And Culture
Tourism and Culture
Tourism is one of the links for an individual to visit the particular country to explore and experience
the cultures different from one s own. Every culture has their own unique culture, by opening doors
for other countries to visit, it allows other people to learn more about the culture and spread the culture
to other people. It also allows the country itself to be aware of other people s cultures and learn from
each other. Allowing globalization and better relationship with other countries. One of the most
common links is the culture between westerners and Asian countries as their cultural beliefs are
different from each other. Asian embraces unity while westerners embrace individualism. The best
time to introduce tourism is before the festival holidays, where people often wear their traditional
clothes and celebrate their festivals according to their traditions. Such as Chinese celebrate Chinese
New Year and give offerings to their gods to request for blessing and peace for the coming years. This
is a perfect opportunity for other tourist to witness this event to allow maximum exposure experience
of the culture. Advertising events through commercials or magazines are one of the best ways to

The Epistemological Tradition That Best Fits My Own...
Throughout my journey I am discovering the epistemological tradition that best fits my own
perspective. There are many ways in which a person learns; learning can be defined as a change in
behavior due to past experiences. As well, there are different approaches to learning such as;
behaviorism, cognitivism, connectivism and constructivism. Many aspects of my life have formed my
epistemological assumptions such as family, friends, community, education and my own experiences.
Epistemology is defined as the theory of knowledge, with respect to its methods, validity, and scope; it

feel that I connect best with experiential cognitivism since I prefer to experience information before
internalizing and relating it with what I know to be true. I will draw upon my past experiences to
illustrate my position as I have come to understand myself as an experiential cognitivist, which
situates within the epistemology of pragmatism. Pragmatism is defined as a practical approach to
problems or matters. As William James states in his book Pragmatism, A New Name for Some Old
Ways of Thinking He (pragmatism) turns towards concreteness and adequacy, towards facts, towards
action, and towards power (para 12, Lecture II What Pragmatism Means).

The Monster
I am eight years old, standing in front of the bathroom mirror. Inside, I see a creature with ferocious
red eyes, bulging out of its sockets. Thousands of swelling bumps envelope its body while dark,
malevolent sags droop over its cheekbones. From the mirror s reflection, the creature appears to be at
peace, yet a wave of hostility emits from it at the same time. I slow down, carefully turning around to
see the beast.
It s not there.
As I pivot back, I see the monster yet again its weary eyes glancing unwaveringly into mine. However,
I can see that we the creature and I are both equally shocked. While my senses sharpen, I clench my
fist only to see the same from the creature.
Smack! Pain surges through me as the monster and I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the rare cases that I couldn t, I d be left with gushing red bruises on my hands as reminders.
Truth be told, there had never been a monster in the first place; it had just been me and the mirror, of
course. Unfortunately, it took me a couple days to realize that.
Moreover, it wasn t until my first visit to Dr. Gao that I had truly begun making sense of these
recurring events. According to her, I was experiencing an allergic reaction known as hives. This
reaction would envelope my body from head to toe with countless dome shaped rashes that would
uncontrollably itch and multiply at an extraordinary speed. Fortunately, this was regarded to be a
common allergy symptom and at most a mild one. Consequently, Dr. Gao prescribed me several drugs
and antihistamines which she thought would help moderate my condition.
Then, things got out of hand.
Several days into my treatment, my hives showed no sign of recovery. While on a molecular scale my
body may have been recovering, to the normal viewer s eye, my condition only seemed to worsen. My
mother s doubts began welling up. Soon enough, she began losing faith in Dr. Gao s wisdom along
with her prescriptions, and Dad, who nonetheless was trained in biology, knew better than to argue
with her.
I distinctly remembered how it all began. It was a typical Saturday morning. Nothing special. Dad was
out shopping, Mom was tidying up the house, and I was doing some homework. Then, the first
raindrop came.

How Ultra s Customer Database Meets The Not Generally...
II. Not Generally Known or Readily Ascertainable
C A court is likely to find that Ultra s customer database meets the not generally known or readily
ascertainable element.
R In determining whether information is not generally known or readily ascertainable, courts consider
the following two Restatement factors: the extent to which the information is known outside of the
business and the ease or difficulty with which the information could be properly acquired or
duplicated by others. Al Minor, 117 Ohio St. 3d at 61 (citing Plain Dealer, 80 Ohio St. 3d at 524 25).
To determine whether the information is not generally known or readily ascertainable is if a trade
secret owner collected and/or compiled the information from a variety of sources, thus this may
support a finding that the information is not generally known or readily ascertainable. Salemi, 145
Ohio St. 3d at ¶29.
To determine whether a customer list is not generally known, it ordinarily includes not only the name
of a business or person but also information that is not generally available to the public, such as the
name of a contact person, a non public telephone or cell phone number, an email address, and other
data known only because of the relationship with the client. Salemi, 2014 Ohio 3914 at ¶18 (citing

Essay on The Effects of Immigration In The U.S. Economy
Introduction
Throughout history, countless millions of people left their native land and moved to a strange country
where no one knows what kind of faith lies ahead for them. The heaviest immigration worldwide took
place from the early 1800 s to the Great Depression. Most of the immigrants came from Europe and
half of them immigrated to the United States. Whatever prompted the immigrants, they were brave,
bold, and courageous men and women. They left familiar communities for a new land and a new
people.
The Four Waves of Immigrants
The United States has always been a nation of immigrants. English, Dutch, and French men and
women settled it in its earliest days, the first decade of the seventeenth century. Groups from other ...

Some colonists came from Denmark, Finland, and what is now Ukraine. Some colonists sought
adventure in America. Others fled religious persecutions. Many are convicts transported from English
jails. But most immigrants by far hoped for economic opportunity. Many could not afford to come to
America and came as indentured servants. Such a servant signed a contract to work for a master for
four to seven years to repay the cost of the ticket. Blacks from West Africa came to the colonies
involuntarily. The first Africans were brought as indentured servants, but most blacks arrived as
slaves. West African blacks captured most of the slaves in wars and traded them for European goods.
Wars in Europe and America slowed immigration during the late 1700 s and early 1800 s. Newcomers
included Irish fleeing English rule and French escaping revolution. Congress made it illegal to bring in
slaves as of 1808. From 1830 through 1874 several states passed their own immigration laws, since
the federal government did not regulate immigration in any way until 18754. During the early 1800 s,
New York City began to replace Philadelphia as the nation s chief port of entry for immigrants. The
country s first immigration station, Castle Garden, opened in New York City in 1855. Ellis Island the
world s most famous station, operated in New York Harbor from 1892 to 19543.

Publishing Metadata Facilitates Data Sharing
2.7.4 Spatial Metadata Publication
Publishing metadata facilitates data sharing. Sharing data between organisations stimulates
cooperation and a coordinated, integrated approach to spatially related policy issues (Land
Information Council of Jamaica 2008).
Metadata records are usually published through catalogue systems, sometimes called directories or
registries (Nogueras Iso et al. 2005). Also, Catalogue Services for the Web (CSW) open standard by
the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) supports the ability to publish and search collections of
metadata for data, services, and related information objects.
Spatial Metadata Discovery
Because of spatial metadata s small size compared to the data it describes, metadata is more easily
shareable (ESRI 2002b) and is considered as the surrogate of spatial datasets which is referenced to its
related spatial dataset. Hence, in a networked environment, such spatial surrogates are discovered by
the end users seeking required spatial datasets, through catalogue systems, Web services and user
interfaces. The user interface usually supports making a variety of queries (via basic and advanced
search) on spatial metadata records to retrieve the characteristics of the most appropriate datasets for
the end users..
Once the results of metadata discovery are presented to the end users, the metadata records need to be
retrieved and accessed by them. The next section gives a brief overview of the retrieval and access
step of the

An Admirable Example Of The Modern State System
In the 16th and 17th centuries, many countries were on the verge of reformation. Many political,
economical, and religious changes were taking place. The age of the new Modern State, the idea that a
country and its inhabitants can be controlled successfully by one ruler, was on the rise. Before the
1600s, it was not rare for people to not associate themselves with an actual state; they simply were
ruled by a local lord or aristocrat. They did not have a sense of belonging or patriotism, and seldom
had concern for affairs outside their villages. As a country became a modern state, it brought people
together, formed new government policies, redefined and enforced the authority of the king, improved
the country itself with regards to new buildings, spreading of religion, and new opportunities. The
Modern State system sought to expand its power over material goods and territory, and sought full and
unwavering obedience to authority (Modern Rise Lecture 6). An admirable example of the use of the
Modern State system was the country of France. Alan James, author of The Origins of French
Absolutism, 1598 1661, argues that the French rulers had built up the power of this state by traditional
means. War, control over religious practices, and occasional use of violence only when necessary were
the ways he says they built the Modern French State up out of its old feudal ashes. The 17th century
was known as the Golden Age of French History (James 273). It population numbers

Menil Collection
Visiting the Menil Collection and Contemporary Art Museum in Houston for the first time was eye
opening. I never thought art was such a big thing. I knew art was to be creative but other than that I
never would have thought art would have meaning. From reading, Ways of Looking by Ossian Ward,
art comes in many forms: entertainment, confrontation, event, message, etc. however, having to pick
two art works and compare and contrast them was difficult since there were many to pick from. I
chose La lunette d appproche and Suck My Tits, even though there completely different. They both
share a hidden message that need recognition. The Menil Collection in Houston downtown has a wide
variety of art ranging from ancient art to surrealism. Although there were all types of art, surrealism
struck out to me. While trying to grasp the whole idea and why this was created. I came across this
one painting that froze me in place and drew my mind into amazement. The La lunette d approche or
the Telescope, an oil based painting on canvas created by Rene Magritte in 1963. Its contents grab me
by the arm and drew me closer. Allowing me to escape into the darkness it depicts behind the open
window. It metaphorically represents how everything could be a front in one s eyes while beneath

Essay on Doppelganger and King Kong English Speech
Introduction:
Good morning/afternoon class and *teacher*, today I will be speaking about how Michael Parker, the
author of Doppelganger and Peter Jackson, the director of the film King Kong, accurately portray the
main concept of the Beast Within through the symbolism of masks and the notions of betrayal and
duplicity. I will be talking about Josh and Andrew from Doppelganger, Carl Denham and the people
that he manipulated and affected through his deception, from King Kong and explain their
contributions to the main idea of the Beast Within, how they wear a mask and how they portray the
concepts of Duplicity and Betrayal.

The fact that Josh gave Andrew the QZ45 meant that there is now a whole new series of events that
affect the storyline; Andrew ends up killing boy because the QZ45 has a mental and physical effect,
where the taker feels ready to fight or kill . In this case, boy makes Andrew angry, by slashing him
with a knife during the chase in the tunnels, and Andrew goes on a crazy rampage and kills boy.
Andrew soon becomes very guilty that he killed boy because he realises that in the normal Sydney boy
is a kid named Derek, who dies in a car crash, which makes Andrew logically believe that if one
person is killed in the Dystopic Sydney, this same happening will reflect in a slightly different manner,
in the normal Sydney. Josh also demonstrates the concept of the Beast Within through the plain evil of
what he did to Andrew, the evil intentions of Josh were the reason why he did it, it wasn t to save
anyone s life, like Andrew ends up doing later on in the text, but it was all part of Josh s scheme to
become the owner of the metsin factory so that he could become the richest and most famous person
in the Dystopic Sydney, he was willing to kill many people to get his desire and he managed to get a
whole gang of hallboys to listen to him and do it.

The gastrointestinal tract is a muscular tube lined by a unique layer of cells, called epithelium. This
empty muscular tube begins from the oral cavity, proceeds through the pharynx, esophagus, stomach

The Role Of Astrology In Greek Mythology
Astronomy is defined as the study of non Earthly bodies and phenomena such as the sun, moon, stars,

Is Brutus A Hero Or Villain
Is Brutus a hero or a villain in the play of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare? in my eyes, Brutus is
not a villain in this play, but in the eyes of a civilian he could be considered as a villain. Also i think
that Brutus is an honorable man because even though he killed his best friend he did it for the good of
Rome and because he d rather let one person get killed than the country he loves and is devoted to get
destroyed. Brutus was certainly not a villain. He had a splendid reputation for integrity in Rome,

of how people or other characters think about Brutus. Also Brutus had no personal Grudge towards
Caesar what so ever it was just the simple fact that even the author states Not that I loved Caesar less,
but that I loved Rome more (3.2) and that he cared for Rome more than anything else. Also Brutus
decided not to tell Portia his plan to murder Caesar because he feels like she s going through a lot of

honorable. Brutus shows true honor and love for the people of Rome, Am I entreated to speak and

The Impact Of The Canadian Banking System
Although, Canada is a close neighbor of the US, its economy did not seem be much affected by the
recent 2008 global crisis. For explanation, we need to take a look at Canada s banking system and
regulations. Bordo, Redish, and Rockoff explain that despite of the fact that both countries started out
as colonies of Great Britain, their banking systems evolved differently. For example, Canada banking
system was created as a system of large financial institutions that evolved into oligopoly due to the
entry restrictions, whereas the US banking system was fragmented and fragile. Further, the Canadian
banking system had absorbed the mortgage market, investment banking, and was tightly regulated by
one overarching regulator. However, the US ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Alan Walks explains that Canadian banks managed the crisis fairly well due to the bailout,
which was handled quickly without media attention and scrutiny through the government institutions
and programs (Walks 2014).
Currently, Canadian financial sector is dominated by six large banks and a number of smaller
institutions. The banks in Canada are allowed to combine investment banking and deposit taking
functions (Walks 2014). Until 2006, the mortgage loans in Canada were issued for 25 years with
minimum 5 percent down payment. When the homeowners default in their mortgage, they are still
legally responsible of their debt even after they sell their property or abandon it. Walks points out: All
lenders issuing CMHC insured mortgages are protected from losses on both principal and interest in
the event of default (Walks 2014).
Furthermore, the United States shadow banking sector entered Canadian market after 2001, offering
interest only and subprime mortgage loans. Due to not providing mortgage insurance, the shadow
banking sector services were not accepted by the big banks and traditional lenders. However, in 2006,
after the election of a new federal government and intense lobbying by the US firms, Canada changed
its banking standards. New private competitors were allowed to enter Canadian mortgage insurance
market and lending terms were extended to 40 years of amortization with no down payment. Some of

The Debt For Advanced Economies
The supply of general gross debt for advanced economies increased significantly over the past years
compared to that of emerging economies, especially after the onset of the financial crisis as illustrated
in the graph below:
The above general advanced economies debt supply has been absorbed by demand from both foreign
and domestic investors, however, the demand composition of these investors has changed significantly
for some countries compared to others since the onset of the financial crisis as evident in the graph
below:
Indeed, notably the foreign demand has declined significantly during the euro sovereign crisis for

(2009)) However, looking deeper, an increase, in particular, in the share of domestic banks in the
investor base may threaten domestic financial stability and increase the sovereign bank nexus,
increasing borrowing costs and even in extreme cases leading to self fulfilling debt crisis. (Adler,
(2012); Acharya et. al. (2013))
Refinancing Risk
Some studies show that a rising share of foreign investors in the investor base increases governments
refinancing risk. In particular, foreign non bank investors can be less stable source of funding for
sovereigns because they can invest in broader pool of assets, thus can easily stop rolling over or can
sell the debt in cases of sovereign shocks. (Arslanalp and Tsuda (2012)) Additionally, some advanced
economies might be hit by sudden stops in foreign funding also as a result of global risk aversion shift.
(Calvo and Talvi (2005))
Do foreign investors matter?
Indeed, the composition of the investor base matters, in particular a decline in foreign demand matters
for both borrowing costs and refinancing risk. However, the interesting observation is that such
foreign investor demand decline has had significant implications for some countries such as the high
spread euro countries (GIIPS) while very little effect for other countries such as Switzerland,
Australia, and US. This leads to the conclusion that some advanced economies (e.g. high spread euro
economies) are more vulnerable to changes in the sovereign debt share by foreign

I chose to write my paper on topic number three, the biographical and historical background. I decided
to write about this topic because it was the one that I thought I could write the most on. It details the
journey that the Joads went through during their migration from Oklahoma to California during the
dustbowl. The biographical part of the book reflects Steinbeck s life because he was born and raised in
California, which is where the Joads relocate too. the historical part of the book reflects the family s
that had to relocate during the dust bowl during the 1930`s. the historical and biographical background
of the grapes of wrath is directly based of off John Steinbeck`s life and America during the 1930, and
the reception of the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It went on to win a Nobel Prize in literature in the year 1962. During World War two, it was made into
a successful movie. The movie went on to win an Oscar Award in 1941. In more modern time, it has
been banned, praised, and burned. It was banned and burned for its content, and praised also for its
content. Since it was published, the book has sold over 14 thousand times. John Steinbeck thought it
would just be a normal, not famous book, but it won a Pulitzer prize for literature in 1940. The Grapes
of Wrath even went on to be named one to the top one hundred books. Even today, the book is still
burned and being

The judge s decision was made by who they thought they should go for even though both sides had bad arguments and made a bigger deal of this case than what it should really be. Tinker was fighting for the right of freedom of speech, even though they were using their freedom of speech for a bad cause. They should have not have used their freedom of speech against the rule of the school because they were going against authority. They should have used it for the good of the school. Truly, I don t know anything about this court but I did read the website of what happened but yet somehow the Tinkers won in the court case mainly because the school did not lay any good arguments on the table. The school started out with an understandable argument but then it just went downhill from there because they did something totally wrong when they should have done something better about it. Even though the Tinkers were doing wrong in suing the school but they did that because the school kicked their kids out. The school should have just talked to the parents about the situation and ask them politely to take the armbands off instead of just making a rule about it and kicking them out. I think this court case had a really bad reason for being made into a court case. Even though there was a reason they should have found a better one to make a court case. In this court case we somehow argued for five to ten minutes with each argument that the lawyers laid on the table. We then went out and voted for money to be given to the Tinkers and to let them wear their armbands. So now the school should think of how they re going to treat matters better instead of just kicking kids out for wearing an armband that says what they think of the Vietnam War. So I think that armbands are allowed because they re armbands why make a big deal out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In her introduction of The Death and life of Great American Cities, Jane Jacobs introduces city planning and presents the reader with real life view. She also explains the principles of planning and the effects it contains on social and economic issues. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jacobs addresses the most common idea of city planning as beautification and questions the effect it has on restoring a neighborhood. Jacobs states Handsome is as Handsome does. All that glitters are not gold (Jacobs 15). As much as the city can be beautified and full of parks and land it does not make up for the needs of the people. Jacob provides the example of a housing project and a lawn; Everyone in the housing project was upset and seem to have an opinion on having a lawn, when someone finally asked why and bothered to listen to the people, they realized that the people wanted a space to come together but unfortunately no one had bothered to ask. (15) Unfortunately, due to the lack of resources it is house projects like this that are often referred to as slums. Jacobs explains that ideally tax money would be used to fix the communities and allow for beautification. However due to economical stance of many neighborhoods and the city planning ideology it seems close to impossible. Jacobs writes Bankers, like planers have theories about cities on which they act... • 6. Analysis Of After Apple Picking By Robert Frost After Apple Picking is an early work by Robert Frost. The poem portrays the hypnagogia of sleep by describing the fleeting moments before the speaker falls into deep slumber. The poem is written in the first person point of view and is most likely a depiction of Frost himself. Frost wrote this poem when he was around forty to fifty years old. In the twentieth century, he would have been considered to be close to the end of his life and this could have been his initial inspiration for the poem. Allusions to winter and frost also lead to the idea that Robert Frost may have been referring to himself throughout the poem. Whether or not the speaker is Frost is of little importance, what does matter is that the speaker is someone who has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mid level diction, that dominates most of the poem, is highlighted in these first couple of lines. This level of diction creates a happy tone that celebrates heaven and the afterlife while contemplating the reality of life here on earth. Phrases such as I was well and I could tell create a sense of rhyme and repetition that assures us that the speaker is still in control and doing fine, this initial portrayal of the speaker conflicts with the rest of the poem which takes on a more melancholy mood after line eighteen. Visual and olfactory imagery are also portrayed through specific word choice. Words such as essence and scent introduce the element of smell in the poem, while words such as glass, skimmed, and hoary convey the visual element. The vivid pastoral sensory imagery in the poem emphasizes the image of an apple, this motif alludes to the fall in Genesis and becomes an allegory for the Garden of Eden. Likewise, the speaker s thoughts of falling ice allude to Freud s iceberg personality theory. These allusions suggest both worldly corruption and a loss of innocence. This is emphasized through the repetition of the word fall, which in this case has the connotation of sin associated with it. The imagery used here also draws biblical allusions to Jacob s ladder. The allusions draw attention to the corruption and downfall of mankind. Through the use of figurative language, the extended metaphor of apple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Theme Of Anna Karenina The context of the next significant death in the novel decidedly contrasts the death of Nicholas Levin. Anna Karenina, after falling from grace and her elevated social stratum, desperately searches for meaning in her life. She fears that she no longer provides Count Vronsky with any sort of pleasure and constantly seeks to improve herself in order to keep his attention and love focused on her. In a constant state of inadequacy, Anna cannot even sleep without a heavy dose of opium. Anna grows dependent upon the drug, and one night, She poured out her usual dose of opium and thought that she need only drink the whole phial in order to die, it seemed to her so easy and simple that she began thinking with pleasure of how he would suffer, repent, and love her memory when it was too late (Tolstoy 680). Tolstoy foreshadows Anna s demise in this passage. Anna feels that, were she to kill herself, she could finally solicit the attention and love she craves so adamantly. However, on further considering this avenue, All was darkness. Death! she thought. And such terror came upon her (Tolstoy 680). She quickly dismisses this thought, desiring to live her life fully. However, the seeds of something horrible are planted in her mind. Those seeds sprout as Anna continues to trudge through her lackluster life. Anna stumbles upon the train tracks, and, Suddenly remembering the man who had been run over the day she first met Vronsky, she realized what she had to do (Tolstoy 694). Anna ... Some of these systems may include word processors, spreadsheets, email clients, file sharing systems, databases, etc. The main benefit behind this type of technology is that the more freely that information flows around an office, the more productive the environment is. However, the US did not use conscription again until 1917 in preparation for war in Europe, known as World War I (Encarta). In 1917, the United States Congress passed the Selective Draft Act. This act created a government office to oversee conscription. Additionally, the act also authorized local draft boards to select eligible individuals for conscription to fight the war. Of course this act was challenged by many organizations, but was upheld by the Supreme Court in 1918. The court held; Article I of the Constitution gives Congress the power to raise and support Armies (245 U.S. 366, 38 S. Ct. 159, 62 L. Ed. 349 [1918]) (West s Encyclopedia of American Law). Conscription continued until it was suspended in 1973. What about today, wouldn t conscription be important today in determining whether the price of freedom should be borne by all, rich or poor? Of course, there are many social experts such as Steve Hammons, a writer for the American Chronicle, who feels the need for reactivating the military draft or conscription. Hammons feels this need is based partly on the requirements to adequately staff the Army, because today, there is an unending global expansion of U.S. military operations. The overall value of the worldwide product placement market, including the barter/exposure value of non paid placements, will increase 18.4% compounded annually to $13.96 billion in 2010 (PQ Media, August 2006). However, these are the terms that are at opposite ends of an on going debate over the best way to teach children how to read. Simply stated, supporters of the whole language approach think children s literature, writing activities, and communication activities can be used across the curriculum to teach reading; backers of phonics instruction insist that a direct, sequential mode of teaching enables students to master reading in an organized way (Cromwell, 1997). Critics of phonics claim that the curriculum is too boring, that the endless worksheets will turn children away from the joy that could be reading and writing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children learn, memorize, and apply rules, formulas, and patterns of reading and speech (Curtis, 1997; Wiber, 2002). This approach has also been called a bottom up approach because the teachers believe that by focusing on the smaller parts and equipping children with the ability to figure out new words, meaning and comprehension will follow. The strong supporters on this side of the debate want phonics taught in an intensive and systematic manner (Strickland, 1998). These phonics supporters criticize whole language, claiming that the approach is too disorganized and phonics taught in such an incidental manner that some children will never have the right tools to learn to read well (Cromwell, 1997). There are many advantages to using phonics. Children who learn to read by using phonics generally have better pronunciation, spelling, and word recognition. They have been given a tool that can be used over and over again while reading and writing, without having to memorize vocabulary and spelling of the words (Curtis, 1997). There are also many examples of how explicit, intensive and systematic phonics can work well in classrooms. One of these examples is the reading program developed in California. After years of implementing whole language instruction in their classrooms, reading scores in the state dropped to be among the nation s worst. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every culture has their own unique culture, by opening doors for other countries to visit, it allows other people to learn more about the culture and spread the culture to other people. There are many ways in which a person learns; learning can be defined as a change in behavior due to past experiences. As well, there are different approaches to learning such as; behaviorism, cognitivism, connectivism and constructivism. Many aspects of my life have formed my epistemological assumptions such as family, friends, community, education and my own experiences. Epistemology is defined as the theory of knowledge, with respect to its methods, validity, and scope; it is the inquiry of what discerns acceptable belief from opinion (Bates, 2015, section 2.2.1, para 1). I feel that I connect best with experiential cognitivism since I prefer to experience information before internalizing and relating it with what I know to be true. I will draw upon my past experiences to illustrate my position as I have come to understand myself as an experiential cognitivist, which situates within the epistemology of pragmatism. Pragmatism is defined as a practical approach to problems or matters. As William James states in his book Pragmatism, A New Name for Some Old Ways of Thinking He (pragmatism) turns towards concreteness and adequacy, towards facts, towards action, and towards power (para 12, Lecture II What Pragmatism Means). • 23. Publishing Metadata Facilitates Data Sharing 2.7.4 Spatial Metadata Publication Publishing metadata facilitates data sharing. Sharing data between organisations stimulates cooperation and a coordinated, integrated approach to spatially related policy issues (Land Information Council of Jamaica 2008). Metadata records are usually published through catalogue systems, sometimes called directories or registries (Nogueras Iso et al. 2005). Also, Catalogue Services for the Web (CSW) open standard by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) supports the ability to publish and search collections of metadata for data, services, and related information objects. Spatial Metadata Discovery Because of spatial metadata s small size compared to the data it describes, metadata is more easily shareable (ESRI 2002b) and is considered as the surrogate of spatial datasets which is referenced to its related spatial dataset. Hence, in a networked environment, such spatial surrogates are discovered by the end users seeking required spatial datasets, through catalogue systems, Web services and user interfaces. The user interface usually supports making a variety of queries (via basic and advanced search) on spatial metadata records to retrieve the characteristics of the most appropriate datasets for the end users.. Once the results of metadata discovery are presented to the end users, the metadata records need to be retrieved and accessed by them. • 24. An Admirable Example Of The Modern State System In the 16th and 17th centuries, many countries were on the verge of reformation. Many political, economical, and religious changes were taking place. The age of the new Modern State, the idea that a country and its inhabitants can be controlled successfully by one ruler, was on the rise. Before the 1600s, it was not rare for people to not associate themselves with an actual state; they simply were ruled by a local lord or aristocrat. They did not have a sense of belonging or patriotism, and seldom had concern for affairs outside their villages. As a country became a modern state, it brought people together, formed new government policies, redefined and enforced the authority of the king, improved the country itself with regards to new buildings, spreading of religion, and new opportunities. The Modern State system sought to expand its power over material goods and territory, and sought full and unwavering obedience to authority (Modern Rise Lecture 6). An admirable example of the use of the Modern State system was the country of France. Alan James, author of The Origins of French Absolutism, 1598 1661, argues that the French rulers had built up the power of this state by traditional means. War, control over religious practices, and occasional use of violence only when necessary were the ways he says they built the Modern French State up out of its old feudal ashes. • 30. Is Brutus A Hero Or Villain Is Brutus a hero or a villain in the play of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare? in my eyes, Brutus is not a villain in this play, but in the eyes of a civilian he could be considered as a villain. Also i think that Brutus is an honorable man because even though he killed his best friend he did it for the good of Rome and because he d rather let one person get killed than the country he loves and is devoted to get destroyed. Brutus was certainly not a villain. He had a splendid reputation for integrity in Rome, which was the main reason, at least according to Shakespeare, that Cassius was so anxious to get him to join in the conspiracy. When cassius states Brutus, I have much mistook your passion (1.1) I think it means that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Antony still recognizes Brutus as, the noblest Roman of them all. ( act 5.3) Brutus is most definitely a honorable man because honor is the main reason why Brutus dies in the end. But, is also why he is titled a hero. After lucilius capture, he states i dare assure thee that no enemy shall ever take life of the Noble Brutus .(6, 3) After the defeat of his army, Brutus wants to die nobly. It is achieved after he orders strato to kill him. Antony states this was the noblest Roman of them all which to me says a lot of how people or other characters think about Brutus. Also Brutus had no personal Grudge towards Caesar what so ever it was just the simple fact that even the author states Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (3.2) and that he cared for Rome more than anything else. Also Brutus decided not to tell Portia his plan to murder Caesar because he feels like she s going through a lot of stress already and she doesn t need his plans on her life. That s an act of selflessness which i think is honorable. Brutus shows true honor and love for the people of Rome, Am I entreated to speak and strike? Of Rome i make thee promise, if the redress will follow, the receivest thy full petition at the hand of Brutus (2.3). Even though Brutus did stab Caesar he had a lot of compassion for him and he and as other conspirators helped clean up his body. Agin This is the selflessness that Brutus had and the kind of ... • 31. The Impact Of The Canadian Banking System Although, Canada is a close neighbor of the US, its economy did not seem be much affected by the recent 2008 global crisis. For explanation, we need to take a look at Canada s banking system and regulations. Bordo, Redish, and Rockoff explain that despite of the fact that both countries started out as colonies of Great Britain, their banking systems evolved differently. For example, Canada banking system was created as a system of large financial institutions that evolved into oligopoly due to the entry restrictions, whereas the US banking system was fragmented and fragile. Further, the Canadian banking system had absorbed the mortgage market, investment banking, and was tightly regulated by one overarching regulator. However, the US ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Alan Walks explains that Canadian banks managed the crisis fairly well due to the bailout, which was handled quickly without media attention and scrutiny through the government institutions and programs (Walks 2014). Currently, Canadian financial sector is dominated by six large banks and a number of smaller institutions. The banks in Canada are allowed to combine investment banking and deposit taking functions (Walks 2014). Until 2006, the mortgage loans in Canada were issued for 25 years with minimum 5 percent down payment. When the homeowners default in their mortgage, they are still legally responsible of their debt even after they sell their property or abandon it. Walks points out: All lenders issuing CMHC insured mortgages are protected from losses on both principal and interest in the event of default (Walks 2014). Furthermore, the United States shadow banking sector entered Canadian market after 2001, offering interest only and subprime mortgage loans. Due to not providing mortgage insurance, the shadow banking sector services were not accepted by the big banks and traditional lenders. However, in 2006, after the election of a new federal government and intense lobbying by the US firms, Canada changed its banking standards. New private competitors were allowed to enter Canadian mortgage insurance market and lending terms were extended to 40 years of amortization with no down payment. Some of the officials in Canada ... • 32. Spy Hard Essay The movie Spy Hard with Leslie Nielson is the one movie that I choose to write on. It is a slapstick comedy with plenty of scenes that the director makes the audience happy. The film is written to an older audience, but it will make young kids laugh throughout the movie. Since it is a spy movie, it has plenty of interesting scenes that may not be suited for young kids. Also, there is some adult content throughout the movie. Therefore, it is not recommend allowing kids to view this movie. The Spy Hard move is one to have a great imagination for viewing the movie. There are plenty of special effects in during the movie. Also, the sound effects are very entertaining and keep the movie unique. They work together to make the movie enjoyable, and ... The Debt For Advanced Economies The supply of general gross debt for advanced economies increased significantly over the past years compared to that of emerging economies, especially after the onset of the financial crisis as illustrated in the graph below: The above general advanced economies debt supply has been absorbed by demand from both foreign and domestic investors, however, the demand composition of these investors has changed significantly for some countries compared to others since the onset of the financial crisis as evident in the graph below: Indeed, notably the foreign demand has declined significantly during the euro sovereign crisis for higher spread euro sovereigns (Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, or so called GIIPS ) as well as for other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2009)) However, looking deeper, an increase, in particular, in the share of domestic banks in the investor base may threaten domestic financial stability and increase the sovereign bank nexus, increasing borrowing costs and even in extreme cases leading to self fulfilling debt crisis. (Adler, (2012); Acharya et. al. (2013)) Refinancing Risk Some studies show that a rising share of foreign investors in the investor base increases governments refinancing risk. In particular, foreign non bank investors can be less stable source of funding for sovereigns because they can invest in broader pool of assets, thus can easily stop rolling over or can sell the debt in cases of sovereign shocks. (Arslanalp and Tsuda (2012)) Additionally, some advanced economies might be hit by sudden stops in foreign funding also as a result of global risk aversion shift. (Calvo and Talvi (2005)) Do foreign investors matter? Indeed, the composition of the investor base matters, in particular a decline in foreign demand matters for both borrowing costs and refinancing risk. However, the interesting observation is that such foreign investor demand decline has had significant implications for some countries such as the high spread euro countries (GIIPS) while very little effect for other countries such as Switzerland, Australia, and US. This leads to the conclusion that some advanced economies (e.g. high spread euro economies) are more vulnerable to changes in the sovereign debt share by foreign ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. My Favorite Season Essay Fall is my favorite season out of the other three sensational seasons in Minnesota. I love fall because it happens to be my favorite season of the year. No, not volleyball or football season, but deer hunting. I have had good years hunting, and I have had bad years hunting, but my favorite year was my second year hunting. November 8th, 2014. The first Saturday of the deer hunting season. Opening day. It was a 20 to 30 degree Fahrenheit day. Earlier this morning, my dad and I went out hunting hoping to get something, but sadly I did not see anything sitting in the stand with my dad. Since we had a long and boring morning, my dad and I decided to head back home and rest for the night shift of hunting. When we returned home, I undressed from all my orange clothing and took a long nap. I woke up to eat lunch, which was some warm homemade soup that my mother had made my dad and I to eat for lunch. The first hour out in the stand was so boring and again. I was sitting there looking at the beautiful birch trees and the tall prairie grass surrounding the stand. On the birch trees there were many antler scrapings, which means the bucks were once here marking their territory. My deer stand is approximately 20 feet off the ground, which gives a great view of the woods. I could see my grandpa s barn, which was about a half a mile away, but I could not see his big teal house, since all the big trees were blocking my view.
