Analysis Of The Movie Arundel Partners
Arundel Partners wants to buy the rights to produce the sequels in advance rather than negotiating on a
film by film basis because otherwise, the studios will have an informational advantage. Later on in the
production process, studios will have a greater idea of the quality of the film, making them less likely
to sell the rights to more profitable sequels. Advanced rights to the entire portfolio of films mitigates
this informational asymmetry and creates an options pricing model for Arundel. There is value in
Arundel s right to forgo production of the sequel if they discover that the original is a flop. If Arundel
chooses to forgo producing a sequel, in this model they are now only taking a $2M loss. To the movie
studios, Arundel s proposal creates great value. By offering the cash for all movies in advance,
Arundel is providing upfront financing to the cash hungry studios, allowing them the resources to
pursue other projects, especially big budget blockbusters that have substantial negative costs. The
guaranteed profit of the sequel rights fees abolishes some risk for the studios, even though it
eliminates their potential upside. By purchasing the rights to an entire portfolio of films from the
studios, it also serves Arundel to diversify away the risks of individual films, much like investing in
diversified funds of market indexes. Based on the attached analysis, 26 of the 99 potential sequels are
profitable to pursue as they have a positive NPV. The NPV of the

My Client, Tony Martin
My client, Tony Martin, has been employed by Eagle Airlines as a mechanic at its repair facility. He
initially worked at the Minneapolis Saint Paul Airport. However, Eagle Airlines reduced its Minnesota
staff, and consequently, eliminated his job in early 2011. Tony utilized his union seniority to acquire a
similar job by bumping a Chicago mechanic, but Eagle downsized its Chicago operations as well. As a
result, a few months later, Tony ended up working in the LaGuardia, New York Airport. Finally, he
bumped an Anchorage mechanic to conclude with a job in that airport. However, he ran out of
seniority and was permanently fired by Eagle Airlines. Tony kept his family and residence in the
Minneapolis area throughout his work assignments in New York, Chicago, and Anchorage.
Consequently, Tony deducted his entire out of town expenses, to include meals and lodging, as work
expenses. The issue at hand is to establish if this determination of his expenses as work related was
appropriate. Therefore, I must ascertain if Tony s travel expenses were considered incurred while he
was away from home. The Internal Revenue Code Section 162, Trade or Business Expenses, notes
that only expenses that are ordinary and necessary that are paid or incurred for the taxpayer s trade or
business are deductible. Tony s expenses for meals and lodging can be considered to be ordinary and
necessary, but the issue at hand is to determine if these expenses were considered incurred when Tony

Lincoln Racist Dbq
Racism is the belief of superiority of a certain race which often leads to discrimination towards other
people. Lincoln was a racist because of his ideology. According to Document B, Lincoln was in favor
of the race to which I belong, having the superior position . Since Lincoln believed that he, the white
race, was better and superior to the Negroes, this proves that he is racist because of his ideology. In
addition, Lincoln was a racist because of his words. In Document C and D, Lincoln called the Negroes
heathism , barbarian , creatures . By using such demeaning and dehumanizing words, Lincoln puts
down the Negroes, which establishes himself as the better race. However, some may argue that
Lincoln was not a racist. In Document A, Lincoln believed that the Negro was born his equal and that
no human law can deprive him of these rights . By thinking that he is equal to Negroes, it
demonstrates that he does not think lowly of them. Although Lincoln stated that the Negro is his equal,
it does not hide the fact that he believes that the white race is more superior and the words he uses to
describe the Negroes.Historical figures should not be judged by today s moral standards because their
actions back then might have been different if they were here in present day. Instead, they should be

Patrice Lumumba In The Poisonwood Bible
Patrice Lumumba In Barbara Kingsolver s novel, The Poisonwood Bible, the reader is introduced to
Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo, through the voices of the
fictional Price women. Unlike the Price family, Patrice Lumumba was a non fictional character who
was elected and served only 7 months as the Congo s Prime Minister. His reign was brought short by
his execution in 1961. Though his tenure may have been short and occurred more than 50 years ago,
Patrice Lumumba remains to this very day, an important man in history. Patrice Lumumba was born
July 2nd, 1925, however his name at birth was not Patrice. Patrice was born Élias Okit Asombo, but as
he grew and moved from place to place, so did his name. While living in Stanleyville, he was called
Okanda doka or the knowledge magician due to his passion for reading. When he moved to Onalua, he
became to be known as Patrice Osungu. He choose the name Osungu because it represented the the
success of a powerful white man which caused him to be teased by his friends. It is due to this, they
nicknamed him white man in rags. Once he left Onalua, he dropped the name Osungu and began using

government of the Congo could not unify its people. Civil unrest followed along with the Congolese

How Does Chaucer Present The Miller To Become Such A Vivid And Vibrant
Character?
The Canterbury Tales is a selection of stories written in Middle
English. On a spring day in April sometime in the 14th century 29 pilgrims (including Chaucer as a
character 30) set out for Canterbury on a pilgrimage.
Among them is a knight, a monk, a prioress, two nun s, the friar, the squire, the yeoman, the merchant,
a clerk, a sergeant of the law, a wealthy landowner, a doctor, the wife of Bath, a supplier, the reeve, a
somonour, a pardoner, Harry Bailey (the host), Chaucer himself, a haberdasher, a carpenter, a weaver,
a tapestry maker, a dyere, a cook, a shipman, a poor parson, a plowman, and a miller. To entertain

The solution says Nicholas, is to wait overnight for it in a tub suspended from the barn rafters, and to
cut the tub from the roof of the barn when the water has risen, which carpenter does.
While Nicholas and Alison lie together, Absolon appears and asks
Alison for a kiss. She sticks her bottom out the window, and he kisses it with relish, pausing only
when he feels bristly hair and considers that no woman has a beard. He realizes the prank and,
enraged, disappears to get a red hot poker. Returning, he asks for another kiss.
This time Nicholas, who had risen from the bed to urinate, sticks his bottom out of the window and
farts loudly; Absolon brands him in the rear. He cries for water, awakening the carpenter, who thinks
that the second flood is come at last. He panics and cuts himself down, breaking his arm; the rest of
the town awakens to find him lying screaming in the tub on the floor of the barn. The villagers came
to see the commotion and they saw Alisoun was in the bed and Nicholas standing naked. After that,
the Carpenter was considered a madman and a cuckold by the whole town.
Imagery is one of the key ways that Chaucer describes his character.
He does this through similes using animals repeatedly even within the tale miller compares animals to
people.
Chaucer describes the miller s beard as sow s ear, suggesting that the hair is coarse; however this

Leopold Pokagon Facts
My Michigan Hero: Leopold Pokagon The legend of Leopold Pokagon is that he was born the son of a
Chippewa father and Ottawa mother, in the year 1775. Pokagon was Kidnapped from his Chippewa
village by a Potawatomi chief and given to Chief Topenebee of the Potawatomi. He was given the
name Pokagon because the headdress that he was wearing included a human rib. The word Pokagon
means rib . However, in a book written by his son Simon Pokagon, he disclosed that Pokagon was
born Anishinabe, one of the Three Council Fires, and adopted into the Kitichigumi (Great Lakes)

to Christianity trusted a Baptist missionary Isaac McCoy. McCoy was a double agent. He was in favor
of the tribe s removal.
Leopold Pokagon worked to find a way to keep his tribe from having to leave their land. In 1830, he
went to Detroit to meet with Catholic officials to request a Blackrobe or a priest to be assigned to his
tribe. Pokagon felt that joining the Catholic Church would counteract the Baptists and an important
help in their fight against removal. By converting to Catholicism, the St. Joseph River Valley
Potawatomi were renamed the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi. In 1833, the Americans wanted more
Potawatomi land, so they met in Chicago to propose another treaty. According to this treaty, the
Potawatomi were to move to Missouri and would receive 5 million acres of land and a contract for
regular yearly payments for 20 years. The treaty also wiped out any debt that the tribes owed to fur
traders. Leopold Pokagon contested giving up more land. He negotiated an amendment to the treaty
that allowed his band to remain in Michigan. During the negotiations, he pointed out that he and his
people were Catholics and this was a deciding factor in saving his people from losing their

Essay about iran contra scandal
Iran Contra Scandal
The Cold War peaked the interest of the entire globe. Each threat, policy and action that took place
had ramifications far more reaching then ever imaginable. The world sat on edge because it feared its
own destruction, after the introduction of nuclear warfare at the close of World War II, another World
War could result in the Earth s demise. This fear ran through the hearts and minds of citizens of both
the United States and the Soviet Union, but it is the citizens elsewhere that had to pay the
consequences for these fears. The race to become the premier superpower of the world between the
U.S. and U.S.S.R. did not always remain as subsided as many like to believe. Many regions of the

To understand the Iran contra Affair it is necessary to understand American Iranian relations leading
up to the scandal. Since the origin of both major powers, Iran had managed to to maintain its
independence as a nation state by playing the two superpowers against one another. And it was when
the two rivals came to an understanding that, Iranian leaders saw their country s independence and
identity in serious jeopardy. [2] The turning point in the relationship between the Iran and the United
States began after [the United States] part in the overthrow of Muhammad Musadiq in 1953, the
United States found itself the object of growing Iranian criticism. [3] Moderate, nationalistic
opposition forces and radical leftist began to refer to the United States as an imperialistic, oppressive
external force, all as Shi i religious leaders begun condemning America and their policies. Iranians of
all political persuasions increasingly formed a negative image of the United States. [4] America
exposed itself as no longer an external liberating force that was held responsible for protecting Iran
from Great Britain and the Soviet Union, and instead, became the exploiter.

Cleopatra s Family Ruled Over Egypt
Cleopatra s family ruled over Egypt for more than 100 years before she was born in 69 B.C. Myths
and stories involving Cleopatra s life inspired many movies, plays, and books, including Antony and
Cleopatra by Shakespeare. She has become on of the most popular ancient Egyptian queens.
(Biography.com, ??)
Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator, the last queen of Egypt, was born in about 69 B.C. The large line of
rulers that ruled over Egypt started in about 32 B.C. After the death of Alexander the Great the next
era begun when Alexander s general, Ptolemy, took over as king of Egypt. In the next three centuries,
his family would follow in his footsteps. In its largest times, Ptolemaic, Egypt, was one of the world s
largest powers. (Biography.com, ??)
Cleopatra s dad was King Ptolemy XII. Her mom was not well known, but some say she was her
father s sister. It was believed for a long time that Cleopatra was Greek, but a lot of people think she
might have been part African. (History.com staff, 2009)
Soon after, power complications started to happen between Cleopatra and her brother, Ptolemy XIII.
While this was in play, Cleopatra fled to Syria, where she put together an army to defeat her rival in
order to declare the throne to herself to solve the power issues. She returned to Egypt with an army
and faced her brother at Pelusium (a coliseum type place) located on the empire s eastern edge.

Foreign Policy-Making Process Model
1. Invent your own model Current system of the US foreign policy decision making process is best
defined by Hilsman s model. My model aims to offer a different approach to the existing policy
making process model. According to my model; the main actor in foreign policy decision making
process is the National Security Council (NSC) instead of the President of the United States. By
putting the NSC to the center of my model, I aim to balance the president s seemingly extreme power
in the foreign policy making process and prevent the destructive effects of internal conflicts and
rivalries among bureaucratic institutions to affect foreign policy decision making process. President s
status is second to the National Security Council, the President s ... Show more content on

However, it cannot be always a beneficial option for the US that its decision making process is led by
a one leading figure. There are good examples such as Franklin D. Roosevelt but conversely, there are
negative examples in the US foreign policy such as; George W.Bush and Barack Obama, which
shaped and applied erroneous policies that undermined the US role in the post Cold War international
system. The NSC s structure in Classic model is controversial for me. The NSC members are
designated by the president and this might allow unchallenged and without balanced foreign policy
strategies under crusader type task oriented leader such as George W.Bush. The congress can check
the president s appointments but this will also lead a slow down and can be regarded as a sign of
weakness by the possible international challengers of the US. In addition to this, the current role of the
NSC in Hilsman s model can also lead lack of coordination and open for bureaucratic rivalry under
presidents such as Barack Obama. As I stated above, bureaucracy s role in USFP is also too broad. In
Hilsman s model, bureaucracy is able to affect the decision making process and diminish the
effectiveness of foreign policy strategies due to inter institutional rivalry. People s role is quite limited
in this model with only election of the president. The public does not have any role to determine its
country s foreign policy staff. Although the congress can check the president s appointees, this usually
leads an administrative crisis and considered as a weakness by the challengers of the

Political Power Of The United States
The United States is currently built on an illusion of democracy where everyone supposedly has an
equal opportunity and say in society. The issue arises when government fails to identify this injustice
as a problem because the majority of officials tend to benefit from increased political power.
Economic inequality, the uneven distribution of wealth in one direction, is the leading cause of
poverty in the United States, and the number of individuals in poverty continue to grow. The
government has neglected its citizens, and it has taken legislative favorability of the upper class rather
than the middle and lower class. In the essay Rent Seeking and the Making of an Unequal Society ,
Joseph Stiglitz identifies rent seeking as a means of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main problem being the identification of a corporations as a citizens entitled to First Amendment
rights. The U.S campaign finance system has allowed legalized bribery that influences politicians in
favor of corporate interests.
Political campaigns is a method used by the people to nominate officials that harbor the interests of
the public. The Supreme Court ruling would allow corporations to bolster any specific candidate in
exchange for influence, and eliminate any other competition, in effect limiting the choices of the
bottom 99 percent of the population. This gives legitimate candidates that harbor public interests an
extreme disadvantage, and it forces him/her to rely on individual donations or concede partially to
corporate interests. As corporate campaign financing continues, corporate politicians slowly supersede
the number of politicians in favor of the people. Through the years corporations and the wealthy end
up doing phenomenally well while the rest of the nation suffers.
If the politician of corporations succeeds in obtaining a political office they begin to propose tax cuts
on corporate income, the wealthy, and deregulation of industries. As a result, an already eminent
problem becomes worse because tax cuts on the rich make them even wealthier than they already are.

Western Religion Essay
Throughout this semester we focused on numerous different religious practices and traditions.
Focusing now on these new religious ideals and practices has provided many different suggestions
towards spirituality: Spirituality is personal, unique, self validating, authentic, and authoritative,
whereas religion is institutional, bureaucratic, social, inflexible hierarchical, and authoritarian
(Anderson and Young 295). Many of these new practices involve women, healing methods, and
alternative divine figures. Overall, it is a common theme from many of these spiritual practices to not
have a set textual religious book such as a Bible or Torah. In addition, they do not look up to a
spiritual figure, or have set rituals or practices: New Age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In specific, with the Wiccan women: Wiccans are cautious about their relationships with others and
especially cognizant of their relationship with the earth (Anderson and Young 307). Along with this,
they believe: What you do, whether for good or for ill, returns to you (Anderson and Young 307). This
practice is stemmed from their Rule of Three. This rule is generalized as: being careful for the things
we wish for in life, as well as how actions can create consequences. These consequences in large can
create a chain reaction in consequences broadly on the world. Along with this, magic or magick is an
important aspect of Wiccans: Magic usually refers to the ability to affect the outcomes of events
through communal or individual thought and ritual action (Anderson and Young 309). In correlation to
the magic aspect of the Wiccan spirituality, many members call themselves witches. With this title,
many cast spells and use the magic to work through the conscience of members. However this specific
practice of spell work is not required. As many people believe magic to be a sinister act or something
out of a fictional story, that speculation can be reflected on to this Wiccan act: Magic is usually
contrasted with religion: magic is seen as a way of manipulating the universe by using specific spells,
whereas religion does not use the universe as ultimately manipulable in this way (Anderson and
Young 309). However the Wiccan s loophole to this statement refers to the fact that their magic is less
about manipulation and more about using the power to evoke positive changes to the world. This
magical practice gives rise and support to the enchanted world they believe to live in rather than the
cold world. Diving deeper into this spiritual practice brought some confusion and questionability to
mind. Although I believe there could be many

Advanced demand planning technology surpasses spreadsheet based efforts by calculating the best
possible demand prediction based on several inputs, including past performance of related products or
unrelated products that share key attributes in addition to any data generated by pre launch market
testing. According to Gartner, New product launch forecasting is overly reliant on sales and marketing
for demand inputs. Opportunities exist to remove forecast bias by utilizing attribute modeling
techniques and solutions that use similar product introductions to understand consumer/ customer trial
and repeat, as well as volume build assumptions, to improve the forecast. Sell In, Sell Through, and
Maturation The demand profile ramps up as introductory promotions, advertising support, and word
ofmouth combine to create an initial strong demand, then dips as the sell through period gives way to
the maturation phase, with its own promotions and marketing programs attempting to shape demand
over time. As the product life cycle unfolds, the demand planning solution compares actual demand
versus the forecast. Statistical matching algorithms can be used to determine just how significantly
actual demand has deviated from the prediction. The predictive accuracy of other demand profiles can
be compared, and when a different profile provides a better match to the actual demand signal, it is
swapped into play.

Female Characters Of The Play By William Shakespeare s ...
First impressions of any play or novel are largely gained from its title. In this case, the title also
happens to be the concluding line of the play itself; Tis Pity She s a Whore suggests the play is based
around a woman and her promiscuous actions. This instantly places women in a bad light before the
play even commences suggesting that there was a woman in a shameful situation due to her whore like
actions towards men and how things could have been different if she did not allow her promiscuous
side to take over control. This title makes women appear to be inferior to men as if this would not
have happened to a man as they would never have found themselves in a situation such as this woman
has found herself in. There are a vast variety of female characters in the play with many diverse
personality types. Ford writes most of the female characters to be weak and inferior to men to fit with
the Victorian audiences idea of how women were to be perceived powerless and at the mercy of men .
There are also certain female characters such as Putana and Hippolita who appear to go against the
stereotypical idea of how women should act and behave during the Victorian era, these characters
would have been extremely shocking for a 19th century audience. At the end of the play all of the
women die nasty deaths and in all situations are due to their actions that surround men. They all die or
are murdered for different reasons but in all circumstances involve being misunderstood

The History Of Honey Bees
Have you ever been stung by a honey bee? Many people in the world are actually nearly terrified of
honey bees. But, did you know, Honey bees are actually pretty smart? Honey bees are able to
recognize and remember different colors and keep track of up to 4 different landmarks. Honey bees
often get mistaken as bumblebees. A few things that make honey bees and bumblebees different are
that, bumblebees have short furry bodies and honey bees have long, wasp like bodies. Also, Honey
bees live in hives of up to 50,000 to 60,000 bees, while bumblebees live in nests of up to 40 to 500
bees. Bumblebees can sting more than once but, they will only sting if they are aggravated. Honey

Without building an extra machine room also saves some construction costs. Construction players are
normally tight on budget, the savings gives them flexibility to adjust their profits. In addition,
changing to Monospace requires minimal changes of their original architectural designs. 2. Energy
efficiency As mentioned in the case, the construction boom has ended and there are at most 26% of
existing buildings have a chance of upgrading to Monospace. This point would be important to
existing building managements as their monthly cost could be reduced substantially if they upgrade to
Monospace elevators. Monospace consumes a third of energy a hydraulic elevator consumes and half
of what a geared traction elevator consumes. Its speed is also at 1 mtr/s similar to a geared traction
elevator. These monthly savings can be seen on the bills and they add up to a substantial amount
annually. For construction managers and architects, this value could be used to impress clients. 3.
Lower fire potential Monospace elevators unlike hydraulic and geared traction elevators, do not
require oil for operation. It reduces fire potential which is a great problem for residential areas. It is
also one strong point of difference that KONE possess against competitors.

The Book Of Esther In The Hebrew Bible
The book of Esther appears in the Hebrew Bible as one of five scrolls that is read on festivals or
commemorative days of the Jewish year. Esther is the story of the deliverance of the Jews from
destruction and persecution from King Ahasuerus official named Haman. In this story, Esther shows
great courage and devotion to her Jewish people, and even risks her own safety to help defend them
against the wrongdoings of Haman. This story interests me most because it is a story about a woman s
courage and strength that saved her people. When King Ahasuerus wife, Queen Vashti, refused the

He states that people believed in their time that these people would be excluded from the protection of
God because they were unworthy of being called Israelites. Henry argues that this was never true,

minute events for the bringing about of his people s deliverance (Henry 1121). He describes the

The resilience methodology seeks to build on strengths and strengthen the supports and opportunities
of the child. Resilience plays a vital role in assisting a child in settling into a new placement, without
experiencing major emotional difficulties. Three factors that promote resilience are secure base, Self
esteem and Self efficacy(Grotberg, 2000). These can be influenced by positive experiences on a daily
basis, some which will be highlighted throughout the assignment.
Resilience in an individual refers to successful adaptation, despite the risk and adversity. The manner
in which Matson 2004 defines resilience is very clear to me, as I can relate and reflect this to one
particular girl that resided in the care centre I worked. Throughout the young girl s childhood, she
developed an insecure and ambivalent attachment to both her parents, as a result of their hectic
lifestyle of substance misuse. At a young age her father died from the HIV viruses, which lead her
mother in becoming depressed and profoundly dependant on drugs. Due to the mother s dependency,
she was unable to respond accordingly to the girls needs, given very mixed and inconsistent responses.
At the age of 10, due to extreme neglect, the young girl was removed from her mothers care and
entered the care setting. Over the years the young girl had experienced several placement breakdowns,
and at 13 was admitted to a residential centre. During this time she felt both a

Minnesota Timberland Case Study
Minnesota is the United States 12th largest state, spanning 86,939 miles. The state is home to around
5.4 million people, with around 60 percent of people living within the major metropolitan areas of St.
Paul and Minneapolis. Nicknamed the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnesota holds 11,842 lakes of over 10
acres, leading to diverse ecosystems and the division of Minnesota s territory into distinct biomes that
impact agricultural output and general land use. Agriculture dominates Minnesota s landscape,
covering 46.7 percent of total land. The 2012 Census of Agriculture conducted by the United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported a decrease in the number of farms from 2007 to 2012, but

Forests cover 31 percent of total land in Minnesota, with 15.9 million acres classified as timberland,
While most homes are now fueled by hydrocarbons and fossil fuels, Minnesota timber is harvested for
several different purposes, including pulp and paper production as well as lumber for housing. Among
these trees, the Aspen species dominates the market with 61 percent of Minnesota s total timberland
cover. Private owners control 47 percent of the total timberland in Minnesota. The remaining 53
comes from a combination of federal, state, and local governments (Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources 2012). According to the von Thunen model, timber would have to be in close proximity to a
market in order to provide fuel for populations. In a modern perspective, however, timber forests, both
private and state owned are isolated away from society in areas with sparse populations. Thus, forests
and timberland may now be considered wilderness and potentially agree with the von Thunen model,
as they exist far from the confines of the city center. According to the University of Minnesota land
economics dataset, timberland values in closer proximity to the St. Paul Minneapolis metropolitan
area, specifically in Atkin County eclipse those of St. Louis County to the north. St. Louis County s
timberland is priced at $1,039 per acre, while Atkin County is priced at $1,329 per acre. Each of these
counties hold large amounts of timberland acreage, but Atkin may hold an advantage in land prices
due to its location closer to the city center. Another factor that may contribute to this difference in land
prices is the relative abundance in acreage and size of St. Louis County in comparison to Atkin. Sparse
population density and a larger number of trees in the area would increase the supply of timber in the

That is why I believe protest who practices nonviolence has proven to have more of an effect on the

Squaw Valley Resort Case Study
While listening to the interview of Andy Wirth with Madeline Brand with KCRW, I came to know
about the declining weather and its effects on skiing business. When Madeline asked Wirth about the
skiing business of Squaw Valley last winter, he mentioned that the slight decline of 20 percent in his

precipitation pattern were drastically affected. As a result, Squaw Valley received less snow fall and

Because the Squaw Valley Resort is known for offering an array of recreational opportunities for
skiers and snowboarders alike, decrease in snowfall certainly affects the business of this ski resort in
Lake Tahoe. Madeline comes up with the question based on a situation where avid skiers finding just a

Male Pornography and Gender Roles

of insignificance to being a major social issue in most parts of the world. The period from early 1960 s
has been labeled as the modern pornography wave. It is a period that saw major discussions in all
aspects of the phenomenon from terminology, definitions, the level of sexual content, the economic
impact, and most importantly its effects. This paper seeks to address the issue of pornography from the
perspective of male participation, consumption, and the interrelated issues. The paper includes a

Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky applies an
epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors, physical, and
psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical data. In this study,
Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and the USA. In this study,
Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when pornography had become
increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased; instead, they had either decreased
or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries to legalize pornography although
massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex
crimes increase with increased availability of pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect
of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky (1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead
to serious sex crimes was the only outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged
offenses such as degradation of women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion,
causing moral outrage, or causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those
that did called for a variety of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly
emphasized the issue of rape to represent sexual crimes, as this

Mary Wollstonecraft A Vindication Of The Rights Of Women
Poets go above and beyond in their poetry to uncover an ugly truth or an inevitable demise. Through
lyric and line they express their out of the box ideas and call attention to problems that are brewing in
their society. Mary Wollstonecraft wrote an essay to expose the poor treatment of women in the late
1700 s. In Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the Rights Of Women , she indicts her society by
revealing the injustice of her society towards women. Her vindication has been echoed in other works
such as Goblin Market which also shows the condemning of women who choose to go against the
grain and live to please themselves instead of others.

What Is The Mood Of Vivaldi s Concerto In A Minor First...
Antonio Vivaldi was a 17th and 18th century world renowned classical composer. He is well known
for composing many pieces in his lifetime, one of his most notable pieces being The Four Seasons.
Being a composer in the 17th and 18th centuries, he was composing in the midst of the baroque era. In
the Concerto in A Minor, he utilizes the popular techniques to effectively engage the audience in the
intense and bizarre feelings that come from listening. The intent of this time period was to use drastic
dynamic changes, apparent contrast between soloists and orchestra parts, and recurring melodies to
effectively evoke emotional responses from the audience.
In Vivaldi s Concerto in A Minor First Movement, terraced dynamics are used throughout. Terraced
dynamics is a musical style used when volume levels switch abruptly from loud to soft and vise versa
without the use of a gradual crescendo, or decrescendo. In many phrases of this movement, the use of
sforzatos and accents help create the drastic effects. These dynamic changes are apparent throughout
the First Movement, and are often used to create a sense of contour, which engages the audience or
listeners in the emotions that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a. Option 1: Escalation of the operation by increasing the number of soldiers. This includes troops
from the U.S, alliances, and partners in the theater. Budgetary increment on modernizing military

Environmental Issues
One of the greatest things which is being talked about presently is the growing concerns of scientists,
environmentalists, and people of this planet when it comes to environmental issues. Environmental
issues is something that is discussed frequently in the news, in politics, and in classrooms around the
world. More and more we are becoming informed and aware of the current and ever facing
environmental crises that are taking place around the world today. Some scientists and
environmentalists believe that many things within our lives daily contribute to the growing detriment
of the environment. This paper will examine the concept of the biosphere, the differing viewpoints of
environmental optimists and environmental pessimists regarding the growing environmental issues,
and the ways in which we can work to preserve our environment and solutions to environmental
issues. As discussed in the text International Politics on the World Stage one of the main
environmental goals currently is to sustain and preserve our biosphere. The biosphere is the global
sum of all of our ecosystems on the area of earth that is occupied by living things and able to support

How could the Holocaust have beet prevented
COULD THE HOLOCAUST HAVE BEEN PREVENTED?
You have probably heard about a period of time, not so long ago, known as The Holocaust. A
holocaust, according to Webster s dictionary, is a complete destruction by fire (Stadtler, 1). In Europe,
during this period, there was a complete destruction by fire of Jewish homes, Jewish businesses,
Jewish neighborhoods, and Jewish people. This destruction was carried out under the direction of
Adolf Hitler, during the years 1939 1945, but it actually began earlier, in 1933, when Hitler came to
power in Germany.
In my opinion, the Holocaust, which was caused by ignorance, could very well have been prevented.

With Germans of all outlooks desperately seeking solutions for the nation s problems, Adolf Hitler and
the Nazi Party began their climb to power. Hitler was gifted with effective political talents. He offered
an explanation for Germany s defeat, and a vision of Germany s future destiny, that played upon the
fears, prejudices, and hopes of many Germans. He promised to rebuild Germany s power and restore
its prosperity (Isaacman, 16). This won the support of many Germans. Hitler was such an effective
speaker that anything he said was believed even if it was not true.
Hitler believed that the German people were part of an Aryan race, a superior group that should be
kept pure to fulfill their mission of ruling the world. He felt that the Jewish people were sub human,
when in actuality they were virtually the same as his Aryan race. Not only did Hitler have a personal
hatred toward the Jewish people, but he also blamed them for stabbing Germany in the back after
Germany s defeat in World War I. Hitler used them as scapegoats because they were a minority and
were easy to put the blame on. Historians agree that the Holocaust resulted from a confluence of
various factors in a complex historical situation. That anti Semitism festered throughout the centuries
in European culture is centrally important; the Jews were (and are) a minority civilization in a

The Smithsonian Museum is a selective representation that allow an intuitive recollection of history
oriented by our personal experience, whilst challenging the inflexible traditional museum through its
ability to be altered and manipulated by our personal memory and reminiscence. Continuous
uploading and addition of new content in conjunction with constantly altering graphics ensures that
the website is viewed differently by every responder, allowing our memory of the 9/11 to steer our
interpretation of the text. The provision of a Tell your story link, directing responder s to help
document this historic event , places equal academic validity in the function of memory as that of an
artefact, and in doing so, essentially intertwines the roles of history and memory as being
complementary in the documentation of fact. Supporting this distinct representation of 9/11, the title
of the website Bearing Witness to History allows the individual testimonies of its responders to
enhance this representation of a unified response to the attack. This is supported by curator William

PS4 Situational Analysis
INTRODUCTION: Sony is a Japan based company that operates in over 180 countries worldwide.
(Company Profile for Sony Corporation, 2011) Sony was co founded by Masaru Ibuka and Aki Miruta
in 1946 and since then has grown into an international multimillion dollar company (Sony
Corporation, 2014). Ibuka and Miruta originally started out manufacturing measuring equipment
(Sony Corporation, 2014), and have expanded into more complex technological solutions, such as
laptops, gaming consoles, and communications devices. One product in particular is the PlayStation 4.
The PS4 is the most recent of Sony s gaming consoles and since its release at the end of 2013 has sold
7 million units (Plafke, 2013), raking in 45 billion dollars of revenue for ... Show more content on

The company is competing with Microsoft in the computer and gaming consoles product area, then
with Panasonic in the television and music department and with LG s communications products. A
second threat Sony faces relates to most of its production being in Japan. The company is susceptible
to a fluctuating currency rate. For example the Japanese Yen has been steadily rising against both the
US dollar and the Euro since November 2013 and experienced a 5% increase against the US dollar in
December 2013. (OANDA, 2014). This made Sony s imports to these countries from Japan seem
relatively more expensive than products made locally. Another threat Sony faces is one relating to the
specific product being discussed in this report. Recently the PS4 network was hacked, allowing users
credit card details and other private information to be taken. (MacManus, 2012). Being vulnerable to
attacks from hackers is a very big threat for the Sony Corporation. Opportunities: The Sony brand has
been given many opportunities. One of these is that Blu ray is become increasingly more popular,
which gives Sony the opportunity to make these players as cheaply and efficiently as they can. A
second opportunity is their partnership with the big gaming franchise Fifa. This enhances Sony s
corporate value. Weaknesses: One weakness of the Sony Corporation is its location. Almost its entire
manufacturing takes

Comparing Frankenstein And Pullman s Frankenstein
A gothic and horror play called by the name Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and adapted by Phillip
Pullman has astounded the audience with its amazing plot. A mad genius Frankenstein constructs a
terrifying monster who he thought would be an angel. To construct the monster he steals body parts
from the graveyard, stitches body parts together and uses electricity to bring it alive. He later realizes
that his creation was a disaster and he changes all his views just by the monster s appearance,
moments after the monster puts its legs on the earth, Frankenstein ran in horror. I feel pity for the
monster as he was rejected by his own father , society and nature, only by his appearance. That still
doesn t give the monster the right to eliminate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elizabeth informs him about this and tells him to return to his father. Frankenstein is baffled as he
doesn t know if he should go back to his father or continue his experiment. Elizabeth was disappointed
and we as an audience were disappointed with Frankenstein s actions. Elizabeth expresses her feelings
of disappointment to Frankenstein as she says A son who doesn t come when his father s dying . We
observe that Frankenstein is an unforgivable son as he chooses his work. He feels guilty for choosing
his work, but that still doesn t mean that he isn t

Historical Information About The Lovely Bones
Historical information about the setting:
The Lovely Bones takes place in a small town near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The plot begins
December 6, 1973 with the rape and murder of Susie Salmon. As Susie herself says, It was still back
when people believed things like that didn t happen. (Sebold 1) During the 1970s most serial killers
and rape were unheard of. The fact that many people weren t aware led to the very criminals living
amongst them. Awareness to these crimes started to rise with the feminist movement and technology.
The inspiration to the setting in this novel also comes from where the Sebold herself grew up. She
grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and she called it Nowhere, USA. She lived in some look alike
homes when she was an adult and made the same design for the setting in The Lovely Bones.
Biographical information about the author:
Alice Sebold was born on September 6, 1968 in Madison, Wisconsin. She moved and grew up in the
suburbs of Philadelphia. She many times called it Nowhere, USA. She graduated from Great Valley
High School in Malvern, Pennsylvania. She also graduated from Syracuse University in 1984. Alice
was raped when she was freshman in college. She was walking through an off campus park when she
was dragged in to a tunnel. She was severely sodomized, urinated on, and beat. She survived and was
told it was a miracle because many young ladies who dragged into that tunnel never made it out alive.

Why Should You Get Vaccinated
I. Introduction
A. As a parent, you may not prefer seeing your baby or child being given an injection. However,
vaccination is a critical venture in securing your child against a scope of genuine and possibly deadly
diseases. Immunizations are brisk, safe and greatly powerful. Once your child has got vaccinated
against an infection, their body can battle it all the more effectively. In the event, that a child is not
vaccinated, they will have an expanded danger of getting the illness.
B. Immunization is as essential for adults as it is for children, but then numerous adults are not ideally
vaccinated. Immunizations emulate the virus so as to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Getting an early begin on your immunizations is an ideal approach to secure yourself. Regardless of
the possibility that you are making a spur leave in under four weeks, you ought to still check with your
specialist to check whether any antibodies or preventive meds may get prescribed.
D. Statistics
a) Measles is not something of the past, nor is it a sickness constrained to creating nations. Today
measles is one of the main sources of death of children around the world, regardless of the
accessibility of a shabby, powerful antibody.
b) Just in 2013, measles has officially killed more than 100 children in Pakistan, almost 20 children in
Nigeria, and sickened more than 2,000 children in China. In 2012, the United Kingdom reported the
most elevated number of new cases in 18 years. The U.S. reported an incredible 222 measles cases in
2011, up from a normal of 60 cases (Centers for Disease Control Prevention 168).
c) The World Health Organization (WHO) reported 158,000 measles deaths in 2011. That is 430
deaths consistently. The measles virus is especially contagious; sullied droplets, spread through
hacking and sniffling, stay alive and irresistible outside the body for up to two hours. Assessments say
that 90 percent of non resistant individuals presented to the virus will get the sickness. On the off

Trade Networks Between Africa and
Eurasia from 300 CE to 1450 CE
No nation was ever ruined by trade. This quote was said by Benjamin Franklin in the late 1700s.
These words are so simple, and it seems like anyone could have said them. However, this quote has a
bigger meaning in that throughout world history, trade has been so important to so many countries and
it has led to many empires successes. It has occurred for a very long time, and it has progressed
dramatically. Trade has changed a lot, but some parts of trade stayed the same over a long periods of
time. In the era between 300 CE and 1450 CE, trade between Eurasia and Africa changed because the
empires and kingdoms in power were replaced and their control over trade differed; ... Show more

In the Arabian peninsula, Islam had started. After Muhammad died, the Muslim community embarked
on a series of military conquests that extended their control over much of Eurasia and north Africa.
Muslim merchants also became a prominent figure in trade during this time. The Islamic empire
extended to the Arabian Peninsula and many areas around it. These places were central in the
Mediterranean sea, Indian Ocean, and silk road trade routes. The Muslim merchants became a very big
part of trade because of their location at the center of many trade routes from Eurasia to Africa. They
were also a prominent part of trade because the camel saddle started to be used frequently in 600 CE.
Camels were more equipped to walk through the desert, and so the ability to control them made the
Muslims a major part of silk road trade. In addition to this, the Muslim agricultural revolution
occurred around 600 CE. This caused more crops like cotton to be cultivated and traded, causing a
greater income and virtually more trade between Africa and Eurasia. In the Indian Ocean basin, the
Gupta empire had declined and there was no centralized rule in India. However, there were still major
trading cities and new technologies caused trade to increase. An example of the new technologies
would be the dhows and junks that were used at around 800 CE.

The World Of Convection, Conduction, And Radiation
The World of Convection, Conduction, and Radiation In our physical world, there are a multitude of
phenomenon that occur daily that we experience that often go unnoticed. It contains a vast array of
conceptual applications and the equations applied to them in order to better explain and calculate the
phenomenon involved. In a normal occurrence an individual can explain and calculate certain aspects
of movement and processes that are also involved with it. When dealing with the transferring of heat
and various process related to heat, the terms convection, conduction and radiation are frequently
discussed thoroughly. The overall field of thermodynamics involves the study of thermal processes in
physical systems. Some terms involved with these particular concepts include: closed system,
empirical law, free energy, joule s law, specific, temperature, and thermodynamics. The general
defined term of convection is the heat transfer by mass motion of a fluid such as air or water when the
heated fluid is caused to move away from the source of heat, carrying energy with it (Georgia State
University). In the world of physics, the term conduction is usually defined as a form of heat transfer
by the way of molecular tension inside an object or material that does not show any individual motion
in its entirety (Georgia State University). Radiation by means of physics related terms is defined as the
emission or transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles through a

  • 2. Analysis Of The Movie Arundel Partners Arundel Partners wants to buy the rights to produce the sequels in advance rather than negotiating on a film by film basis because otherwise, the studios will have an informational advantage. Later on in the production process, studios will have a greater idea of the quality of the film, making them less likely to sell the rights to more profitable sequels. Advanced rights to the entire portfolio of films mitigates this informational asymmetry and creates an options pricing model for Arundel. There is value in Arundel s right to forgo production of the sequel if they discover that the original is a flop. If Arundel chooses to forgo producing a sequel, in this model they are now only taking a $2M loss. To the movie studios, Arundel s proposal creates great value. By offering the cash for all movies in advance, Arundel is providing upfront financing to the cash hungry studios, allowing them the resources to pursue other projects, especially big budget blockbusters that have substantial negative costs. The guaranteed profit of the sequel rights fees abolishes some risk for the studios, even though it eliminates their potential upside. By purchasing the rights to an entire portfolio of films from the studios, it also serves Arundel to diversify away the risks of individual films, much like investing in diversified funds of market indexes. Based on the attached analysis, 26 of the 99 potential sequels are profitable to pursue as they have a positive NPV. The NPV of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. My Client, Tony Martin My client, Tony Martin, has been employed by Eagle Airlines as a mechanic at its repair facility. He initially worked at the Minneapolis Saint Paul Airport. However, Eagle Airlines reduced its Minnesota staff, and consequently, eliminated his job in early 2011. Tony utilized his union seniority to acquire a similar job by bumping a Chicago mechanic, but Eagle downsized its Chicago operations as well. As a result, a few months later, Tony ended up working in the LaGuardia, New York Airport. Finally, he bumped an Anchorage mechanic to conclude with a job in that airport. However, he ran out of seniority and was permanently fired by Eagle Airlines. Tony kept his family and residence in the Minneapolis area throughout his work assignments in New York, Chicago, and Anchorage. Consequently, Tony deducted his entire out of town expenses, to include meals and lodging, as work expenses. The issue at hand is to establish if this determination of his expenses as work related was appropriate. Therefore, I must ascertain if Tony s travel expenses were considered incurred while he was away from home. The Internal Revenue Code Section 162, Trade or Business Expenses, notes that only expenses that are ordinary and necessary that are paid or incurred for the taxpayer s trade or business are deductible. Tony s expenses for meals and lodging can be considered to be ordinary and necessary, but the issue at hand is to determine if these expenses were considered incurred when Tony was ... According to Document B, Lincoln was in favor of the race to which I belong, having the superior position . Since Lincoln believed that he, the white race, was better and superior to the Negroes, this proves that he is racist because of his ideology. In addition, Lincoln was a racist because of his words. In Document C and D, Lincoln called the Negroes heathism , barbarian , creatures . By using such demeaning and dehumanizing words, Lincoln puts down the Negroes, which establishes himself as the better race. However, some may argue that Lincoln was not a racist. In Document A, Lincoln believed that the Negro was born his equal and that no human law can deprive him of these rights . By thinking that he is equal to Negroes, it demonstrates that he does not think lowly of them. Although Lincoln stated that the Negro is his equal, it does not hide the fact that he believes that the white race is more superior and the words he uses to describe the Negroes.Historical figures should not be judged by today s moral standards because their actions back then might have been different if they were here in present day. She sticks her bottom out the window, and he kisses it with relish, pausing only when he feels bristly hair and considers that no woman has a beard. He realizes the prank and, enraged, disappears to get a red hot poker. Returning, he asks for another kiss. This time Nicholas, who had risen from the bed to urinate, sticks his bottom out of the window and farts loudly; Absolon brands him in the rear. • 13. Foreign Policy-Making Process Model 1. Invent your own model Current system of the US foreign policy decision making process is best defined by Hilsman s model. My model aims to offer a different approach to the existing policy making process model. According to my model; the main actor in foreign policy decision making process is the National Security Council (NSC) instead of the President of the United States. By putting the NSC to the center of my model, I aim to balance the president s seemingly extreme power in the foreign policy making process and prevent the destructive effects of internal conflicts and rivalries among bureaucratic institutions to affect foreign policy decision making process. President s status is second to the National Security Council, the President s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it cannot be always a beneficial option for the US that its decision making process is led by a one leading figure. There are good examples such as Franklin D. Roosevelt but conversely, there are negative examples in the US foreign policy such as; George W.Bush and Barack Obama, which shaped and applied erroneous policies that undermined the US role in the post Cold War international system. The NSC s structure in Classic model is controversial for me. The NSC members are designated by the president and this might allow unchallenged and without balanced foreign policy strategies under crusader type task oriented leader such as George W.Bush. The congress can check the president s appointments but this will also lead a slow down and can be regarded as a sign of weakness by the possible international challengers of the US. In addition to this, the current role of the NSC in Hilsman s model can also lead lack of coordination and open for bureaucratic rivalry under presidents such as Barack Obama. As I stated above, bureaucracy s role in USFP is also too broad. In Hilsman s model, bureaucracy is able to affect the decision making process and diminish the effectiveness of foreign policy strategies due to inter institutional rivalry. People s role is quite limited in this model with only election of the president. The public does not have any role to determine its country s foreign policy staff. Although the congress can check the president s appointees, this usually leads an administrative crisis and considered as a weakness by the challengers of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Economic inequality, the uneven distribution of wealth in one direction, is the leading cause of poverty in the United States, and the number of individuals in poverty continue to grow. The U.S campaign finance system has allowed legalized bribery that influences politicians in favor of corporate interests. Political campaigns is a method used by the people to nominate officials that harbor the interests of the public. The Supreme Court ruling would allow corporations to bolster any specific candidate in exchange for influence, and eliminate any other competition, in effect limiting the choices of the bottom 99 percent of the population. This gives legitimate candidates that harbor public interests an extreme disadvantage, and it forces him/her to rely on individual donations or concede partially to corporate interests. As corporate campaign financing continues, corporate politicians slowly supersede the number of politicians in favor of the people. Through the years corporations and the wealthy end up doing phenomenally well while the rest of the nation suffers. If the politician of corporations succeeds in obtaining a political office they begin to propose tax cuts on corporate income, the wealthy, and deregulation of industries. Focusing now on these new religious ideals and practices has provided many different suggestions towards spirituality: Spirituality is personal, unique, self validating, authentic, and authoritative, whereas religion is institutional, bureaucratic, social, inflexible hierarchical, and authoritarian (Anderson and Young 295). Many of these new practices involve women, healing methods, and alternative divine figures. Overall, it is a common theme from many of these spiritual practices to not have a set textual religious book such as a Bible or Torah. In specific, with the Wiccan women: Wiccans are cautious about their relationships with others and especially cognizant of their relationship with the earth (Anderson and Young 307). Along with this, they believe: What you do, whether for good or for ill, returns to you (Anderson and Young 307). This practice is stemmed from their Rule of Three. This rule is generalized as: being careful for the things we wish for in life, as well as how actions can create consequences. These consequences in large can create a chain reaction in consequences broadly on the world. Along with this, magic or magick is an important aspect of Wiccans: Magic usually refers to the ability to affect the outcomes of events through communal or individual thought and ritual action (Anderson and Young 309). In correlation to the magic aspect of the Wiccan spirituality, many members call themselves witches. With this title, many cast spells and use the magic to work through the conscience of members. However this specific practice of spell work is not required. As many people believe magic to be a sinister act or something out of a fictional story, that speculation can be reflected on to this Wiccan act: Magic is usually contrasted with religion: magic is seen as a way of manipulating the universe by using specific spells, whereas religion does not use the universe as ultimately manipulable in this way (Anderson and Young 309). However the Wiccan s loophole to this statement refers to the fact that their magic is less about manipulation and more about using the power to evoke positive changes to the world. This magical practice gives rise and support to the enchanted world they believe to live in rather than the cold world. Advanced demand planning technology surpasses spreadsheet based efforts by calculating the best possible demand prediction based on several inputs, including past performance of related products or unrelated products that share key attributes in addition to any data generated by pre launch market testing. Opportunities exist to remove forecast bias by utilizing attribute modeling techniques and solutions that use similar product introductions to understand consumer/ customer trial and repeat, as well as volume build assumptions, to improve the forecast. Sell In, Sell Through, and Maturation The demand profile ramps up as introductory promotions, advertising support, and word ofmouth combine to create an initial strong demand, then dips as the sell through period gives way to the maturation phase, with its own promotions and marketing programs attempting to shape demand over time. In this case, the title also happens to be the concluding line of the play itself; Tis Pity She s a Whore suggests the play is based around a woman and her promiscuous actions. This instantly places women in a bad light before the play even commences suggesting that there was a woman in a shameful situation due to her whore like actions towards men and how things could have been different if she did not allow her promiscuous side to take over control. This title makes women appear to be inferior to men as if this would not have happened to a man as they would never have found themselves in a situation such as this woman has found herself in. There are a vast variety of female characters in the play with many diverse personality types. Ford writes most of the female characters to be weak and inferior to men to fit with the Victorian audiences idea of how women were to be perceived powerless and at the mercy of men . There are also certain female characters such as Putana and Hippolita who appear to go against the stereotypical idea of how women should act and behave during the Victorian era, these characters would have been extremely shocking for a 19th century audience. Esther is the story of the deliverance of the Jews from destruction and persecution from King Ahasuerus official named Haman. In this story, Esther shows great courage and devotion to her Jewish people, and even risks her own safety to help defend them against the wrongdoings of Haman. This story interests me most because it is a story about a woman s courage and strength that saved her people. When King Ahasuerus wife, Queen Vashti, refused the king s orders to appear before him in court to show the people and the officials her beauty, King Ahasuerus was enraged by her disobedience. The remaining 53 comes from a combination of federal, state, and local governments (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources 2012). According to the von Thunen model, timber would have to be in close proximity to a market in order to provide fuel for populations. In a modern perspective, however, timber forests, both private and state owned are isolated away from society in areas with sparse populations. Thus, forests and timberland may now be considered wilderness and potentially agree with the von Thunen model, as they exist far from the confines of the city center. According to the University of Minnesota land economics dataset, timberland values in closer proximity to the St. Paul Minneapolis metropolitan area, specifically in Atkin County eclipse those of St. Louis County to the north. St. Louis County s timberland is priced at $1,039 per acre, while Atkin County is priced at $1,329 per acre. Each of these counties hold large amounts of timberland acreage, but Atkin may hold an advantage in land prices due to its location closer to the city center. Another factor that may contribute to this difference in land prices is the relative abundance in acreage and size of St. Louis County in comparison to Atkin. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased; instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky (1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Hitler believed that the German people were part of an Aryan race, a superior group that should be kept pure to fulfill their mission of ruling the world. He felt that the Jewish people were sub human, when in actuality they were virtually the same as his Aryan race. Not only did Hitler have a personal hatred toward the Jewish people, but he also blamed them for stabbing Germany in the back after Germany s defeat in World War I. Hitler used them as scapegoats because they were a minority and were easy to put the blame on. Historians agree that the Holocaust resulted from a confluence of various factors in a complex historical situation. That anti Semitism festered throughout the centuries in European culture is centrally important; the Jews were (and are) a minority civilization in a majority environment. In periods of crisis, instead of searching for the solution of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Mod C Essay Representations are not merely objective truth, but encompass conscious selectivity and emphasis which shape and define the meaning we derive from a text. The importance of the Smithsonian s Bearing Witness to History site as both a historical and American representation causes a divergence in its purpose, between its obligation for factual accuracy and intrinsic support of specific cultural values. Deepa Mehta s film Earth (1996) demonstrates the manipulation of texts to shape the meaning we derive from the past, influenced by our memory of the past, distorted by personal context. Despite delving into different historical events, each text demonstrates the complementary relationship of historical truth and memory, a constructed dynamic ... The Smithsonian Museum is a selective representation that allow an intuitive recollection of history oriented by our personal experience, whilst challenging the inflexible traditional museum through its ability to be altered and manipulated by our personal memory and reminiscence. Continuous uploading and addition of new content in conjunction with constantly altering graphics ensures that the website is viewed differently by every responder, allowing our memory of the 9/11 to steer our interpretation of the text. The provision of a Tell your story link, directing responder s to help document this historic event , places equal academic validity in the function of memory as that of an artefact, and in doing so, essentially intertwines the roles of history and memory as being complementary in the documentation of fact. Supporting this distinct representation of 9/11, the title of the website Bearing Witness to History allows the individual testimonies of its responders to enhance this representation of a unified response to the attack. (Company Profile for Sony Corporation, 2011) Sony was co founded by Masaru Ibuka and Aki Miruta in 1946 and since then has grown into an international multimillion dollar company (Sony Corporation, 2014). Ibuka and Miruta originally started out manufacturing measuring equipment (Sony Corporation, 2014), and have expanded into more complex technological solutions, such as laptops, gaming consoles, and communications devices. One product in particular is the PlayStation 4. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The company is competing with Microsoft in the computer and gaming consoles product area, then with Panasonic in the television and music department and with LG s communications products. A second threat Sony faces relates to most of its production being in Japan. The company is susceptible to a fluctuating currency rate. For example the Japanese Yen has been steadily rising against both the US dollar and the Euro since November 2013 and experienced a 5% increase against the US dollar in December 2013. (OANDA, 2014). This made Sony s imports to these countries from Japan seem relatively more expensive than products made locally. Another threat Sony faces is one relating to the specific product being discussed in this report. Recently the PS4 network was hacked, allowing users credit card details and other private information to be taken. (MacManus, 2012). Being vulnerable to attacks from hackers is a very big threat for the Sony Corporation. Opportunities: The Sony brand has been given many opportunities. One of these is that Blu ray is become increasingly more popular, which gives Sony the opportunity to make these players as cheaply and efficiently as they can. A second opportunity is their partnership with the big gaming franchise Fifa. This enhances Sony s corporate value. Weaknesses: One weakness of the Sony Corporation is its location. Almost its entire manufacturing takes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote was said by Benjamin Franklin in the late 1700s. These words are so simple, and it seems like anyone could have said them. However, this quote has a bigger meaning in that throughout world history, trade has been so important to so many countries and it has led to many empires successes. It has occurred for a very long time, and it has progressed dramatically. Trade has changed a lot, but some parts of trade stayed the same over a long periods of time. In the era between 300 CE and 1450 CE, trade between Eurasia and Africa changed because the empires and kingdoms in power were replaced and their control over trade differed; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Arabian peninsula, Islam had started. After Muhammad died, the Muslim community embarked on a series of military conquests that extended their control over much of Eurasia and north Africa. Muslim merchants also became a prominent figure in trade during this time. The Islamic empire extended to the Arabian Peninsula and many areas around it. These places were central in the Mediterranean sea, Indian Ocean, and silk road trade routes. The Muslim merchants became a very big part of trade because of their location at the center of many trade routes from Eurasia to Africa. They were also a prominent part of trade because the camel saddle started to be used frequently in 600 CE. Camels were more equipped to walk through the desert, and so the ability to control them made the Muslims a major part of silk road trade. In addition to this, the Muslim agricultural revolution occurred around 600 CE. This caused more crops like cotton to be cultivated and traded, causing a greater income and virtually more trade between Africa and Eurasia. In the Indian Ocean basin, the Gupta empire had declined and there was no centralized rule in India. However, there were still major trading cities and new technologies caused trade to increase. An example of the new technologies would be the dhows and junks that were used at around 800 CE. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The World Of Convection, Conduction, And Radiation The World of Convection, Conduction, and Radiation In our physical world, there are a multitude of phenomenon that occur daily that we experience that often go unnoticed. It contains a vast array of conceptual applications and the equations applied to them in order to better explain and calculate the phenomenon involved. In a normal occurrence an individual can explain and calculate certain aspects of movement and processes that are also involved with it. When dealing with the transferring of heat and various process related to heat, the terms convection, conduction and radiation are frequently discussed thoroughly. The overall field of thermodynamics involves the study of thermal processes in physical systems. Some terms involved with these particular concepts include: closed system, empirical law, free energy, joule s law, specific, temperature, and thermodynamics. The general defined term of convection is the heat transfer by mass motion of a fluid such as air or water when the heated fluid is caused to move away from the source of heat, carrying energy with it (Georgia State University). In the world of physics, the term conduction is usually defined as a form of heat transfer by the way of molecular tension inside an object or material that does not show any individual motion in its entirety (Georgia State University). Radiation by means of physics related terms is defined as the emission or transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles through a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
