How To Be Remembered Sir Isaac Newton
When asked about how he would be remembered Sir Isaac Newton once said, I do not know what
I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the
seashore, and diverting myself now and then in finding a smoother pebble or prettier shell than
ordinary, while the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me(bio.com) Today, one of the
most highly regarded scientists is still Sir Isaac Newton. He should be remembered as the father of
modern physics. Sir Isaac Newton was born on Jan 4, 1643 or according to December 25,1642 in
Woolsthorpe, England. He never knew his father because he died before he was born and his
mother remarried when he was three (bio.com). His mother moved in with his stepfather but she
left him to be raised by his maternal grandmother Newton was educated at the King s School in
Grantham which taught Latin and Greek but very little math. After the death of his stepfather, his
mother wanted him to quit school to become a farmer. His mother was later convinced to allow
him to re enroll at the school by the headmaster Henry Stokes (Wikipedia). After he was finished
studying at the King s School in Grantham, his uncle convinced his mother to allow him to enroll at
University of Cambridge Trinity College. While there he was not known as one of the brightest
pupils recieving no academic honors(bio.com). During his time studying at the University of
Cambridge Trinity College, Newton became interested in mathematics,

Theory Of Planned Behavior Essay
The main objective of the paper is to examine Azjen s theory of planned behavior based on past
research that examined what influences one s intention to do things based on their beliefs,
attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. In a prospective British study
conducted by Higgins and Conner in 2001, they researched the ability of the Theory of Planned
Behavior (TPB) to predict smoking intentions and behavior in adolescents. A total of 162 Subjects
(11 12 years old) were randomly selected from different schools across the region out of the 347
initially recruited. The research was done over a period of 8 weeks and students were asked to
complete a self reported questionnaire at the beginning and the end of the study period. Their
respective schools verified information provided by the student. The TPB questionnaires assessed
behavioral intentions, attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. The study
suggested that intentions resulted in a small reduction in smoking and intent to smoke for the study
group compared to the control group. Nevertheless, intentions increased... Show more content on

in 2008, they studied the ability of the TPB to predict the intent to quit smoking. Study participants
included 103 smoking students (average age of 24.6years with an 8 years smoking experience).
Participants were asked to fill out a TPB questionnaire at the beginning and were contacted after 4
months to fill out a follow up questionnaire. The questions consisted of intention to quit, attitudes
towards quitting, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. The result suggested that
quitting behavior are linked with intentions as the people with stronger intentions to quit made
more plans to quit smoking. Therefore, even though TPB is important in motivating smokers to
quit, attitude and norms are more important in motivating them and also stopping other addictive

Research Paper On Domes
In the beginning a lot of people thought they were going to die. Hi I m Maddie Baker and I am a
survivor of a horrible event. In 2020 all the national newsgroups were afraid their systems were
picking up evidence of a 75 mile wide meteorite coming towards Earth. They said the meteorite
would not get to earthfor another year or two. They also said it was possible for the meteorite to hit
Marsor another planet before it got to Earth. I was 16 years old at the time and I felt like my life
was over already. I was convinced the we were going to die until the news said, A man named Jim
Wipan is trying to make domes for people to live at if the meteorite hits Earth. He is willing to pay
for them all to be built. The only downfall is he is saying that you will have to bring 20 gallons of
water and it cost 2500 dollars just as a tuition. Later you would have to pay up to 8000 dollars.
While I was listening to the news I was thinking what if my family and I could get a dome. Then
the TV said how much the domes cost. Also I have a family of four that means we would have to
bring 80 gallons of water. Then I thought what if we make our one domes.
We can make our own domes, my dad said.
We don t have the money for that, my mom said with her voice of are you kidding me.
Finally I said. We can still do it. If we charge less more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The plan of the doms was for people to have a place to live if they survive. The domes were built
to keep toxic air out also. We didn t what would really happen if the meteorite hit Earth. We were
hoping the domes would stand through the hit. We weren t totally sure they would work. We got
people to save food and water. Mostly water because we found a way to get food by building
some domes for wild animals. Our domes didn t want to have to eat domesticated animals. Jim
Wipan still buits some domes for his family and they were going to eat domesticated if they had

Race Ethnicity And Gender In The Lowell Factory
While reading the assigned article, I was immediately interested since I am currently learning
about the foundation of women s rights in History. Race ethnicity and gender shaped the
workforce in the early textile mills by paying women half of what they pay males for the same
job. This shows the difference between a primary labor market and a secondary labor market;
The primary market being which men get paid higher wages than those of women. Race also
had an impact on the workforce by immigrants offering to work for such low wages as women
would, sometimes being rejected from any job at all. Women in the Lowell Factory were so
closely supervised because women women who were closely supervised were not able to
organize. Also, they were supervised since that idea appealed to many parents who would send
their daughters to the mills. Some parents would send their daughters to the mills because they
could barely provide for their children. Not many jobs were for women at the time, especially those
that paid a so called good wage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The economy and industry has grown a lot in the United States since the 1800 s, examples such
as blacks being able to have a wide range of options for job seeking along with women who
gained the same right over time. The labor union membership will always be around since
everybody has different ways of looking at things and have different needs/wants. Overall, I
believe the union membership will fluctuate as the economy does. For example, during a
depression in the U.S. economy the unemployment rate goes down and people lose jobs, which
will cause more people to want to join the labor union as a part of hopefully gaining their job back

The 1920s And Pop Culture In The 1920 s
1920s vs. 1930s
A ten year gap can really impact a society. This is evident in the times of the 1920s through the
1930s. These decades are very different from one another. This paper compares and contrasts the
traits of these times in the world of pop culture. Pop culture is an accurate way to observe the past
because it shows everything that was mainstream and a staple of the time.
The 1920s is notorious for the amount of partying people did at the time. People in the 20s had
attitudes that said yeah, why not? . The mood of the twenties was energetic because of the
parties, dances, and the alcohol. The Great Gatsby painted a perfect picture of the time and really
captured what the party life was like. On week ends his Rolls Royce became an omnibus, bearing
parties to and from the city between nine in the morning and long past midnight... (Fitzgerald).
The partying was so relevant that some of the women of this time period were called flappers.
Flappers generally had short bob haircuts and revealing clothing. This is a great way to show how
accurate popular culture is when looking back. The flapper was a symbol and she accurately
represents the mood of the time. This differs so much from the 1930s because that was a time of
sadness and loss. The 1930s represents depression and poverty. The 1920s held its head high with a
big smirk and full of pride. This is really captured as the spirit of the age because of how social the
times were. Blacks and whites would join at the

The Impact Of Traditional Chemotherapeutic Agents On Patients
In contrast to a decade ago, we ve seen an explosion of new drugs and virtually all of these drugs are
targeted therapies. The substantial increase in the transition of FDA approvals from standard
chemotherapeutics to targeted therapies is also equally astounding (Martino et al., 2015). The
traditional chemotherapeutic agents are simply not being developed with the same frequency by
drug companies any more. While chemotherapeutics have had a real impact and in some diseases a
dramatic impact, for most common solid tumours, these impacts have been minimal. Moreover,
standard chemotherapyoften results in collateral damage to healthy cells causing unwanted side
effects while targeted therapies are associated with fewer and less toxic side... Show more content

This chromosome abnormality involved the exchange of genetic information between ABL gene on
chromosome 9 and BCR gene on chromosome 22. What was remarkable about this was that 95% of
patients with CML had this chromosomal abnormality (ROWLEY, 1973).
Subsequent research showed that in a CML cancer cell, the fusion protein BRC ABL functions as a
constitutively activated intracellular tyrosine kinase that binds to ATP and transfers a phosphate
group to its target substrate protein. The target substrate protein then becomes phosphorylated and
progresses to stimulate cell growth of the leukaemia cells (Lugo et al., 1990).
The drug, Gleevac mimics ATP so it binds to the site within the BRC ABL that s normally bound by
ATP, preventing it from binding. It thereby prevents phosphorylation of the substrate target protein
and prevents cancer cell growth (Deininger, Buchdunger and Druker, 2005).
Based on the 1998 2000 clinical studies, Imatinib yielded high response rates with minimal
toxicity in all phases of CML and consequently received FDA approval in 2001 (Druker et al.,
2001) (O Brien et al., 2003) (Druker et al., 2001) (Hahn, 2003). This was actually the fastest drug
approval in FDA history as within three years the drug went from being an experimental drug to an
FDA approved drug.
However, just after Imatinib came into clinical practice, reports of resistance against the drug
started emerging with most

The Five Most Powerful Pro Life Argument Analysis
This weekend I watched a video titled The Five Most Powerful Pro Life Arguments posted by
user Take Five Nation. The five claims presented were that 1) supply doesn t meet demand for
adoption, 2) life begins at conception, 3) abortion compromises women s health by increasing
chances of developing breast cancer, 4) medicine proves that a fetus is a person, and 5) abortion
contradicts the basic moral principle of preserving life. After carefully evaluating each argument, I
found some to be sound and some to be inarguably invalid.
The first argument was that if there are couples waiting to adopt, and abortion takes away the
chance for a couple to have a child, then all women should choose adoption in lieu of abortion.
Though this argument seems valid enough, it is based largely on rhetoric alone. To claim that
adoption is always a better option than abortion suggests that simply not wanting a child is the only
reason that women ever choose to have an abortion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the only argument I found to be entirely false and, therefore, unacceptable. Several studies
have debunked this theory time and time again. In fact, statistically speaking, a woman is
technically at an increased risk for breast cancer after completing a term pregnancy
Another claim of theirs was the classic life begins at conception argument. That is to say that if
life begins at conception, and ending a life is immoral, then abortion is immoral. Though it is
valid, the claim that ending a life is immoral is false, rendering the argument not sound. If ending
a life were immoral, then that means anything from eating (since all food was once a living plant
or animal), to killing someone in self defense is inherently wrong. With this same logic, their claim
that abortion contradicts the basic moral principle of preserving life is also

However, the man came and destroyed the house that was all part of the mouse s dream, now it

The Sarbanes Oxley ( Sox ) Act Of 2002
The Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Act of 2002 was legislated by Congress to restore reliability of
financial statements with the objectives to raise standards of corporate accountability, to not only
improve detection, but to also prevent fraud and abuse (Terando Kurtenbach, 2009). Additionally,
SOX was the response to general failure of business ethics such as the propagation of abusive tax
shelters and greater aggressive tax avoidance strategies (Raabe, Whittenburg, Sanders, Sawyers,
2015).
Tax Advantages of Sarbanes Oxley
Considering the tax planning, SOX identify the potential risks of the similar firm conducting both
tax services and auditing for a business by changing the relationship between the audit Committee
of company and external auditors, thus providing a new obligation for the tax services to be pre
approved by the audit committee while the auditors are not limited from the tax services they can
offer (Piotroski Srinivasan, 2007). The Security Exchange Commission specifies that the audit
committee in charge of retention and appointment of auditors must examine first, transactions
primarily suggested by the accountant of the firm, secondly transactions which the only purpose is
tax evasion, and lastly the treatment of tax that may not be assisted by the Internal Revenue Code
of the United States and associated regulations (Piotroski Srinivasan, 2007). Tax evasion constitutes
the illegal nonpayment of tax and cannot be condoned (Raabe, et al., 2015). Those three

What Does History And Culture Of A Civilization Shape Its...
Fashion and celebrity, as they are today, are often seen as the end product of a long historical
process of industrialisation and democratisation. How useful is it to see them in this historical
perspective? What does it help to explain? Your answer should discuss concrete examples.
Introduction
Throughout the long expansion of human history, local fashion and clothing have always been a
good indicator that reflects historical, political and economical forces within a society. Varies
historical periods will have corresponding fashion and style to represent their unique value and
culture. Multiple looks with a variety of stylistic influences are stripped from their historical
contexts and become part of a large fashion influenced process (Kaiser, 1990). Thus, our modern
day fashion is indeed an end product of series of historical progression. This essay will aim to
examine how does history and culture of a civilization shape its unique fashion styling and
influence modern day fashion by using China as an example and explore the variances in its fashion
development throughout five thousand years of rich Chinese history.
Over the past five thousand years of Chinese history, fashion trend in China has experienced great
changes in most of Chinese dynasties and each of those historical periods are able to distinguish
itself among others while learn and borrow from the previous dynasty and develope continuously
generation after generation. Those heritage chinese elements has

Gender Inequality In Sociology And Gender Roles
In Sociology, gender roles are a big part of everyday discussion. With that comes the controversy
with gender inequality. The differences of what it really means to be an equal gender nation has
been around for years, but it has been becoming more and more popular with politics and media
recently. Females are portrayed as inferior to males when they should be treated as equals in today
s society. We have come a long way since the Women s Rights Movement in the 1800s, but there is
still work to be done. To better understand genderinequality, it is important to understand the root
where it came from, specific manifestations dealt with gender inequality, and solutions on how to
make gender inequality a term of the past. Gender inequality is the social process by which
people are treated differently and disadvantageously, under similar circumstances, on the basis of
gender (Gender inequality, 2017). This means that one gender is not being treated equally
compared to another gender and in most cases it is women. The roots of gender inequality are not
from any recent time. In China, they actually are dated back 2,500 years to the Bronze Age
according to a recent study from Queens College in New York City. Studies were done by
scientists who examined Neolithic Age graves from the Chinese Central Plains about 5,000 years
ago. They reported their findings when they examined their bones for signs of stress. Their
examinations concluded that there was a significant change in

Tata Motors is an automotive company to take notice of. Representing the evolving Indian
population and growing economy of one of the world s key emerging markets, it is a market
leader for commercial vehicles and third for passenger vehicles in the Indian market. It shocked
the world by introducing the $2000 Nano in 2009 and also by growing its portfolio by purchasing

India is not only becoming a key market for the sale of automobiles but also for the production
of automobiles. By 2016 India is expected to output 3 million of the world s small cars (compared
to the current production of 1.8 million for all passenger vehicles. Additionally, it is expected that
more and more parts of the supply chain will migrate to India as it provides low cost supplies,
highly skilled engineers, and creative solution to automobile designs.
Although Tata Motors is a market leader for CVs in India, it falls a distant third to Maruti Suzuki
for PVs. As of February 2010, Maruti Suzuki captured 44% of the domestic PV market, whereas
Tata only has 14%, slightly behind Hyundai with 16%.
Maruti Suzuki is a key domestic competitor, especially since it commands a first mover advantage.
This is because it was the first to offer a modern car to India when it launched the Maruti800 in
1983. This name has become synonymous in India will small car.

Lunar Surface Processes And Its Impact On The Earth Essay
Lunar Surface Processes Complex alterations of the lunar surface occur, despite the fact that lunar
processes are much less varied and dynamic than those of the Earth. The most important source of
lunar surface alteration, at least over the last three billion years, is evidenced by the Moon s
heavily pocked and cratered surface. The Moonis continuously bombarded by external objects
ranging in size from small specks of dust to giant bodies tens of kilometers in diameter. These
impacts are governed primarily by gravity as the solar system continues to evolve. Celestial
bodies within the solar system are continually being rearranged by close encounters with one
another, altering orbits, and over the course of geologic time, causing collisions with other bodies.
These collisions result in two possible outcomes: fragmentation or cratering. If the colliding objects
are of a similar size, collisional fragmentation and annihilation occur, producing a large number of
smaller fragments from both involved bodies. If the objects are of differing sizes, collision results
in an impact crateron the target body. Since objects that encounter the Moon are dramatically
smaller than the Moon itself, cratering occurs. Typical impact velocities of asteroidal objects on the
Moon are between 15 and 25 km/sec. With these high velocities, in combination with the high
frequency of impact, the cumulative kinetic energy on lunar surface exceeds the lunar internal
energy released by

China Yuan Becoming Reserve Currency

Abstract
China s economy is growing ever larger, but is that enough to get the Chinese Renminbi (more
commonly known as Yuan) to be accepted as a global market currency? This paper will look into
the liberalization, but with Chinese characteristics, of five determining factors in becoming a
country whose currency is a global reserve currency. These factors are as follows: economic size,
macroeconomic policies, flexible exchange rates, financial market development, and finally having

dollar. In 2005, China announced the move stating it was a move towards allowing the Yuan to
eventually float freely. However, China still maintained intense government control by abandoning
its peg to the U.S. dollar and simply moving it to link with a handful of other world currencies
(Schuman, 2012).
So while this step may have paved the way towards a floating currency, it was s step taken that
also kept in place a way for tight government control and regulation. Then, in 2008 to help curb the
effects of the global financial crisis, China s economy once again pegged it s currency to the U.S.
dollar. Since, China has removed that peg and in 2010 again announced to the world that is was
committed to resuming reforms of the Yuan exchange rate and increasing currency flexibility
(China Daily, 2010).
It seems that with flexible exchange rates in China, it feels like two steps forward, one step
backwards. While they are indeed moving toward a floating exchange rate, it is a slow going
process filled with exhaustive government control and regulation.
Financial Market Development
Having a relatively liquid market is important for financial market development in order to attract
foreign investors. To broaden the influence and liquidity of the Yuan, China has signed several
(while limited) currency and central bank liquidity swap deals with multiple countries including

regulations that are meant to be followed under the UCMJ Articles. It s important to keep
following the orders you are given and that you follow these rules exactly like you are ordered to
do so. In this essay I will be talking about the following: Disobeying an Order, Disrespect,

The punishments may be very severe if you don t follow the rules and orders especially during a
time of war the worst case scenario is that you may be sentenced to death by court martial.
Bottom line is that you shouldn t even try to break these rules and regulations because it can
ruin your career in the Marine Corps and it can also hurt you if you ever decide to leave the
Corps. The next Article is Article 91 which will further explain more about disobeying orders.
The second Article, Article 91, is Insubordinate Conduct toward Warrant Officer,

member who strikes or assaults a warrant officer, non commissioned officer, or petty officer,

disrespectful in language or deportment toward a warrant officer, noncommissioned officer, or

seem fit. For example a PFC has a problem that a

Process Essay On How To Play Golf
When you are first starting to learn how to play golf, or even if you are a seasoned golfer, you

problem area that you would like to improve upon, or if there is just something you can t quite
seem to get right. Following are a few short tips that might help you the next time you are out on
the golfcourse.
1. Balance is quite important when it comes to playing a good round of golf, especially when you
are executing your golf swing. By keeping your knees bent, your weight will rest in the middle of
your feet, thus keeping you balanced during your golf swing.
2. Another of the useful golf tips to remember is that you should not swing your golf club at 100
percent power. If you swing at 70 percent, you will keep your balance, which gives you enough
distance for a good golf swing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you own one of the new drivers with 420 or 460 printed on the bottom, you will need to tee
your ball higher to make sure you get it on the up swing.
4. When you have a short putt to make, it works best to keep the putter in line with the hole. To get
really proficient at this, try practicing 1 foot putts.
5. In order to make a good pitch and run shot, think of hammering a tack into the ball. It will give
you a solid hit.
6. One of the useful golf tips for winter play involves putting. If you are playing when the greens
are dewy, you need to putt firm in order to make it to the hole.
7. Always remember to keep your golf grips clean so that you will have a good feel of the club.
8. When your ball lands on an un even spot, don t swing too hard, as you are off balance already.
Swinging too hard will make the situation worse.

Maria Montessori was considered ahead of her time. She was born in Chiaravalle, in the
province of Ancona, Italy in 1870 to an educated but not wealthy family. Despite her father s

physician in Italy when she graduated medical school in 1896. She worked mostly with the poor

There is no set level that all children must follow; they learn when they explore by themselves.
This method leaves children with freedom where they can learn self discipline in a place designed
specifically for their developmental needs. Teachers would have a part in the education of children
though even though 80% of it was up to the children. Teachers are to make sure that children are
presented with the right extent of material at the right time. In other words, if a child is too
advanced for one activity, a teacher would present a new one to fit them, and vice versa. Maria
believed if her methods were applied to public schools the results would be even better than the
traditional method results. Since the government didn t let her, she started to work with poor

shocking results. She discovered if the children were in an orderly place to work, they will respect

Separate But Equal Essay
Was Separate but Equal really equal? In many states colored people were not treated equal,
many were discriminated against and many children were not treated fairly. Their schools and
learning conditions were terrible, many of there schools didn t even have running water.
Houston, Charles H. states in his article that many African Americans were referred to as second
class citizens. Many colored people were separated from whites by the laws put in place; such as
separate but equal and many others. There were many groups that stood up against these laws
such as the NAACP which held many protests. These groups also stood up against many laws
such as separate but equal . The Passing of separate but equal laws was unfair to blacks it s
discrimination lead to the Brown v. Board of Educationcase that had a positive result because public
schools were desegregated.
Separate but Equal laws were created to separate colored people from white people. Despite
many disagreements they still made segregation legal the courts challenged earlier civil rights
legislation and handed down a series of decisions that permitted states to segregate people of color
(Smithsonian). This quote helps to explain why separate but equal was created and that many
people already disagreed with is but instead of revising it they passed it. Separate but equal was a
very contravital topic there were many protests and many disagreements involving this topic and

Poverty And The Inner City
Poverty has been a consistent problem throughout the history of the world. Despite the wealth of a
country, there will always be people who are homeless and hungry. Poverty carries many different
definitions, but one that truly encompasses all of its effects is, the unfulfillment of basic human
need required to adequately sustain life free from disease, misery, hunger, pain, suffering,
hopelessness, and fear (Julio, 76). Even though the United is one of the most prosperous countries
in the world, it is not immune to poverty. In 2014, 46.7 million people (15%) were in poverty in
the United States. This is no small issue, and one that we as Christians are called to combat. In
the United States poverty is a national problem, however, it is most prevalent in the inner cities.
The inner city is defined as, A general term for impoverished areas of large cities. The inner city is
characterized by minimal educational opportunities, high unemployment and crime rates, broken
families, and inadequate housing (Dictionary.com). Although, according to the Initiative for a
Competitive Inner City (ICIC), absolute poverty is higher in the suburbs than in the inner cities,
affecting 11 million people compared to 8 million people in the inner cities, poverty is still
concentrated in the inner cities and is more prevalent there. The inner cities comprise less than 1%
of land area versus the suburbs which comprise 17% of total land area nearly 100x that of inner
cities. Overall, 3 in 10

Net Neutrality And Its Influence On The Internet
The internet has become the main source of information, communication, and entertainment for
many people. Services like Netflix have replaced cable in many homes while Amazon now has
the capability of same day shipping and even the shipping of food ingredients in some locations.
We are becoming ever more reliant on the internet for our day to day lives. We expect to have
the ability to do what we want on the internet. Watch whatever movie we like on Netflix, look up
what your friend did on Instagram, or even find that cat video someone told you about at work.
Net Neutrality is the concept that internet service providers allow you to use these services
without interference. Websites, services and information cannot be blocked, slowed down or
prioritized over others. Net neutrality means that all data should be treated equally (Kraemer).
Net Neutrality is vital for our day to day lives and a lot more important than it may seem. In fact,
without Net neutrality, the internet would change as we know it. The internet has always been an
open platform for those who want their voices heard, their ideas shared, or their projects and
businesses expanded. Removing it means that the internet would be a lot like paying for cable
television. Internet service providers would be able prioritize websites and even block competitors
or those who simply cannot afford to pay. Net neutrality is essential to allow users the free access
of information he or she desires(Berkman). Ultimately, net

Sumo Spirito Research Paper
The heritage of the Conquista, the conquest of Middle and South America by the Spanish presents
itself nowadays mostly in a culinary fashion: cocoa, chocolate, corn, tomatoes. Albeit living in a
global age, lesser known and little researched is the music origination in the New World; music that
interlinks the cultures of three continents. Beside the less pleasant actions undertaken by both the
European clerical and secular subjugators, it was also the conquistadores that brought musicalong
with them from the old continent. This music quickly spread throughout the colonies and
settlements. Exposed to local influences, the music was soon shaped to please the local ear. After
all, when the Dominican and the Jesuit missionaries took off to preach the gospel, music was one
of their most important messengers. Most notably in Mexico, Bolivia and Peru, a breathtaking

Beer Simulation
Root Beer Simulation At the outset, I have to acknowledge that I had a problem with this
simulation. Initially, in my first two orders, I confused the backlog and inventory sections, so
that I believed I had a significant surplus in inventory. Therefore, rather than minimizing the
bullwhip of supply and demand, I exacerbated the problem by limiting my supply well below the
number of orders coming in, much less below what I could fill with the backlog and incoming
orders. This error on my part certainly led to increasing instability, not only in my own incoming
orders, but also in the entire supply chain. The simulation also kept auto filling my initial order,
which was only 10,000 cases, despite me ordering a significantly larger number of cases. I could
not get the simulation to operate properly and allow me to place a larger order. It kept auto
ordering the 10,000 cases. I could not get it to place an order other than 10,000 cases. Because of
this glitch, I continued to increase my backlog. I simply could not order more than 10,000 cases.
I address this issue because the glitch certainly impacted my opinion of the computer simulation
as a means of learning. In this scenario, the initial computer simulation was absolutely worthless
as a learning tool. I made an error in my first order, but I do not think that error was meaningful.
Instead, it appears that whatever number of cases I placed in my initial order would be the number
of cases ordered over the next several

The Key To Successful Relationships
The key to successful relationships is the ability to express one s thoughts, ideas and feelings
clearly, utilizing respectful language and behaviour without undue anxiety at the expense of
others. Assertive communication is the skill to convey messages to patients, families, and other
colleagues in a positive, caring, nonjudgmental, and direct manner that aims to acknowledge the
needs of others and oneself (Balzer Riley, 2012, p. 4). Working as a support worker with the older
adults is definitely a challenge. In my culture, it is emphasized to respect someone who is older

The Los Angeles Area Is A Major Development Boom
Introduction
The Los Angeles area is currently undergoing a major development boom but it has not included
enough affordable housing to to address housing shortages and great housing costs. Within the past
few years the area has begun to address its severe urban sprawl issues by providing developers with
density bonuses and improving the walkability of certain urban centers but this still has not done
enough to keep pace with the housing demand.
How can Los Angeles meet the housing needs of this extremely large and rapidly growing
population in a sustainable fashion? The Los Angeles area doesn t need more sprawl that s for sure
and the shear size of the city itself lends itself to a logical step: Urban Infill.
What is Urban Infill?
Urban infill is defined as new development that is sited on vacant or undeveloped land within an
existing community, and that is enclosed by other types of development. The term urban infill itself
implies that existing land is mostly built out and what is being built is in effect filling in the
gaps. The term most commonly refers to building single family homes in existing neighborhoods
but may also be used to describe new development in commercial, office or mixed use areas.

The Teleological argumentis a posteriori and inductive argument. It is based on the observation of
order in the world, and that the complexity of the universe shows evidence of design. This design
implies a designer; capable and sentient, and this designer is God. The argument is split into two
parts: design qua purpose and design qua regularity (Jordan, et al., 2002). Design qua regularity
looks at the evidence of design, found in the order and regularity in the universe (Jordan, et al.,
2002). It was first developed in the 13th century by St Thomas Aquinas, who in his fifth way in
Summa Theologica, argued that the world of nature is like an arrow shot from an archer s bow,
it has direction and purpose even if it lacks awareness as some intelligent being exists by whom
all natural things are directed to their end: and this being we call God (Aquinas, 2009, p. 23).
William Paley, another key contributor in of the Teleological argument, uses the planetary
movements and Newton s laws of motion are also specific examples to provide evidence for
design qua regularity part of the argument (Paley Ware, 1857).
Design qua purpose looks at the evidence of design in relation to the ways in which the parts of
the universe appear to fit together for some purpose. William Paley put forward the most famous
form of the design qua purpose argument in his book Natural Theology (Paley Ware, 1857). Paley
used the analogy of a watch and suggested

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sports In Sports
Youths sports; advantage or disadvantage?
Organized sports is a part of the everyday life for children all over the world. Football, basketball,
and ice hockey, are just a few of the sports that youths are involved in. While being part of a team,
despite what sports it is, you get to feel a team spirit and meet new friends. That sport activities also
result in better health does not make it sound any worse. To involve youths in organized sports
seems to be a marvelous idea. But due to lack of time and high expenses, which the participitation

Dracula s True Intentions In Dracula By Bram Stoker

Dracula was a Romanian aristocrat that lived in a mansion in Transylvania. WIP
What were DraculaВґs true intentions?
The book starts by portraying Dracula with this evil being that wantВґs to conquer and dominate
the world as we know it. Although when dissected, the book reveals that Dracula had multiple
different intentions that could easily be interpreted in a false manner.
Dracula was truly fascinated of London, the most industrialized society where people where leaving

superstitions an ancient script because they would consider that to be unproven myths and children

disliked them and never had an intelligent companionship with them. Letting them be slaughtered

Sparta Strengths And Weaknesses
Education in Sparta: Did the Strengths Outweigh the Weaknesses?
Would you like to be neglected just because you weren t strong? That is what a Spartan kid would
undergo. Sparta is a small city state located in Peloponnese, Greece. The Spartan civilization was
established in 900 BCE Despite its early foundation, it lived fairly peacefully until the Persians and
the Athenians came along and tried to invade Sparta. Sparta had to endure the assaults, and they had
to fight to survive. Due to this, the education was based on the body strength and physical
toughness. Until the fall of the empire, the education was essentially the same. Questioning if the
strengths outweighed the weaknesses seems like a fair question to ask. After evaluating both ...

Any sort of footwear wasn t allowed, nor extra clothing. They were given insubstantial food to show

Examples Of Foreshadowing In Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men Essay by Elisabeth Laria The novel Of Mice and Men uses foreshadowing
successfully to build tension towards the final tragedy. Foreshadowing is shown consistently
throughout the novel in various ways including; the introduction of Curley s wife, Lennie s
constant unawareness of his own strength, and Candy s dog being killed. These situations and
scenes build towards the final tragedy of the novel effectively. Throughout the novel, Lennie is
shown to love and care for various animals and people, however in each instance Lennie is
shown to be unaware of his own strength, and inadvertently hurts the things he loves. This
builds towards the final tragedy in the novel, as Lennie unintentionally kills Curley s wife,
leading to George and Lennie s worst fears to be fulfilled. The first example of Lennie s
unawareness of his own strength happens at the beginning of the novel, as it is revealed that he
had killed a mouse. George seeing this as a stepping stone to what will happen explodes saying
you always kill em (Of Mice and Men Steinbeck. J, 2006 page 14) During the novel, Lennie gets
a puppy at the beginning it seems that Lennie has grown and can care for the puppy, which
George sees as a sign of hope. George desperately wants to believe in his dream of owning his
own ranch. George is constantly trying to help Lennie do that right thing, an example of this is
when he scolds Lennie for taking the pup away from its mother I tol you you couldn t bring that pup

In Foer s story when the speaker defines meaning of a particular symbol, he relates the symbol to
a particular time where the symbol should be present in the conversation. Foer writes, The best
example of this usage occurred when I was a boy. My grandmother was driving me to a piano

second side of the seventh tape of an audio version of Shoah, put her hand on my cheek, and said,

Health Disparities Essay
There are three categories that summarize health disparities in the U.S. The first is disparities
that have a social or economic cause rather than a biological cause. An example of this would be
that the death rates of black American men are 26 percent higher than that of white men. Also, the
death rates of black American woman are 19 percent higher than that of white women. An
explanation for this is because blacks have a lower socioeconomic status than white. The reason
for this is because blacks are more likely than white to never graduate high school, or graduate
high school but not go to college (Barr, 43). Therefore, those with low socioeconomic status can t

What Is The Difference Between Our Generation And The Past...
If you have any history knowledge you can tell how different our generation is compared to the
past generations. We are rapidly maturing due to the progress in technology and it is impacting
the way we approach things. Our own expansion has been connected with the expansion of total
society, because we are expected of age and filling the roles that prior generations left us. The
way possessions worked back then keeps developing and we are exploring new ways to do
different things. This does not mean that one way is right or wrong or could have been best.
Some things have even decreased the rate society, while some things help it. Today we live in a
world where we expect everyone else to do things for us and we want things handed to us.Some
main differences include the way we communicate and live our day to day lives. In the 50 s,
they knew that the world nor no one in it had any obligation to them or anyone around them. No
one is going to do everything for you, it is your own responsibility to work for what you have
and make something of yourself. We don t want to do anything but we want recognition and it
has potentially ruined the way we go about life. We want things to be done for us and when
something requires just a little bit of work we tend to just give up. Back then, they had this idea
of what was best and that was going to high school and then a job with full benefits and everyone
was okay with that so that is how they lived. Back then it was the father s job to

Mr Mallard Imagery
The Imagery of Life and the Imagery of Death in Story of an Hour Kate Chopin uses her
innovative storytelling skills in the piece Story of an Hour to illustrate the interpretation of life
and death from the protagonist Mrs. Mallards point of view. Mrs. Mallard s vivid reality ascends
from an awakening. Soon after the death of Mr. Mallard, who can be perceived as the antagonist,
in addition to employing the internal and external conflict stricken upon her. Mrs. Mallard aimed at
tackling these complexities by using a newly found freedom, as it loosened the emotional grip of
incarceration at the cost of her personal identity. Mrs. Mallard s newly found freedom permitted a
brief moment of illumination within the hour of Mr. Mallard s death.... Show more content on

Mallard s death the narrator used the word killed, which emphasized the symbolism of Mr.
Mallard. As Mrs. Mallard s paralyzing inability loosen its grip on her perception of bondage, the
imagery projected starts to decrease (278). The narrator describe Mrs. Mallard s physical
exhaustion as she visualize through an open window, an open square where the freeing treetops,
and currently feeling a sensation of this new spring life in a blossoming garden of her new being
(278). The narrator goes on to validate Mrs. Mallard s perception of freedom with this vivid
imagery, which opens up a great illustration of her satisfaction. The narrator demonstrates to the
reader an ambiguity of life and death as a bespoke repression in conjunction with this certain
strength (278). As the sky gives an illumination of the clouds breaking away allowing the clear
blue sky to appear as the sounds, the scents, and the color filled the air , Mrs. Mallard murmurs
the word free over and over under her breath (278), which is an indicator of freedom in the battle
between her, external, and internal

Schizophrenia In The Voices
In my opinion, The Voices did a pretty accurate portrayal of what Schizophrenia could potentially
look like in a patient. Jerry, Ryan Reynolds, exhibited many of the classic symptoms that we
associate with Schizophrenia; he also had several of the predisposing risk factors. This movie gave
a good overall portrayal of the lifestyle that someone with Schizophreniacould potentially lead,
especially how normal one can seem if you only know them superficially. We get to see different
parts of his life from his perspective, and then from the perspective of the other characters. One
particular example of this is his apartment. From Jerry s perspective, it is well kept and orderly;
when Lisa comes to see him, we see that his apartment is actually a mess, there are multiple stacks
of boxes, blood everywhere from the dismantling of Fiona s body, and animal feces from his cat
and dog.
It is evident early on in the movie that Jerry is socially awkward. He works in a factory, but does
not seem to interact with any of his coworkers. This could be partially due to the fact that he
does seem to be a fairly new employee, but many of his coworkers make comments about him
being weird or odd . He lives by himself in a secluded old bowling alley, with his cat and dog.
Whenever we do see him interact with his peers, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, through Jerry s flashbacks, we learn that he had a fairly traumatizing childhood. His
father was abusive, and his mother appeared to have had Schizophrenia as well. She referred to
her voices as her angels. When Jerry told her he could hear voices too, she told him to never tell
anyone because they would come after him. When his mom was trying to commit suicide, Jerry
was right next to her; she even had him finish her off because she couldn t. This all brought on his
Schizophrenia, and could have been the reason for such an early

Accident At Three Mile Island Summary
Operators were also responsible for the failure of the auxiliary feedwater pumps, as a test of the
twelves valves two days before the incident led to them remaining closed until the incident itself,
a clear violation of regulations set in place by the NRC. When asked about it post incident, an
operator claimed it was very easy to forget to reopen the valves after a test, whether you just
plain forgot or you were relieved at the end of your shift before you could do it.4 Again, this ties
to the unbelievable lack of education and micromanagement that was present in a typical operator.
Yet another time, the issues tie back to the carelessness of the NRC in preparing its operators for
the job. However, the entirety of that blame cannot be placed... Show more content on

Firstly, being a Babcock and Wilcox plant, the Three Mile Island Plant contained that U shaped
pipe in the pressurizer. Secondly, one of the causes of the meltdown was a cease in movement in
the coolant loop, which is caused by the U shaped pipe. But if people already knew of these
issues, why had they not been addressed and fixed? These warnings could have easily assisted in
preventing some of the damage to the reactor, but not all of it. As previously mentioned, the partial
meltdown had many factors that led to its happening, and reversing just one was not enough to fix
the whole mess, but what is most important about Kelly and Michelson s work is yet another
example of government incompetence that almost led to a massive disaster. Had these warnings
been acknowledged and spread, issues with the Babcock and Wilcox design could have been
resolved months before the Three Mile Island incident. Not being a nuclear engineer, it is difficult
to tell whether or not these issues could have prevented the meltdown, but at least the government
wouldn t have stalled vital

Understand The Difference Between Engine And A 6 Cylinder...
Choosing Between A 4 Cylinder And A 6 Cylinder Engine
When purchasing a vehicle, new or used the type of engine is just as important as any other feature.
Understanding the difference between the different engine types and sizes will help you to make an
informed decision when choosing a vehicle.
What Is The Difference?
A 4 cylinder engine contains 4 pistons while a 6 cylinder contains 6, driving the power of your
engine. So the easy answer would be more cylinders equals more power. Most small cars, light
trucks, and even some small SUV s contain 4 cylinder engines. 4 cylinder engines are typically
inline engines (the 4 cylinders are in a straight line as opposed to a v shape like most 6 cylinder
engines), making them smaller and lighter weight.

  • 2. How To Be Remembered Sir Isaac Newton When asked about how he would be remembered Sir Isaac Newton once said, I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself now and then in finding a smoother pebble or prettier shell than ordinary, while the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me(bio.com) Today, one of the most highly regarded scientists is still Sir Isaac Newton. He should be remembered as the father of modern physics. Sir Isaac Newton was born on Jan 4, 1643 or according to December 25,1642 in Woolsthorpe, England. He never knew his father because he died before he was born and his mother remarried when he was three (bio.com). His mother moved in with his stepfather but she left him to be raised by his maternal grandmother Newton was educated at the King s School in Grantham which taught Latin and Greek but very little math. After the death of his stepfather, his mother wanted him to quit school to become a farmer. Theory Of Planned Behavior Essay The main objective of the paper is to examine Azjen s theory of planned behavior based on past research that examined what influences one s intention to do things based on their beliefs, attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. In a prospective British study conducted by Higgins and Conner in 2001, they researched the ability of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to predict smoking intentions and behavior in adolescents. A total of 162 Subjects (11 12 years old) were randomly selected from different schools across the region out of the 347 initially recruited. The research was done over a period of 8 weeks and students were asked to complete a self reported questionnaire at the beginning and the end of the study period. Their respective schools verified information provided by the student. The TPB questionnaires assessed behavioral intentions, attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. • 4. Research Paper On Domes In the beginning a lot of people thought they were going to die. Hi I m Maddie Baker and I am a survivor of a horrible event. In 2020 all the national newsgroups were afraid their systems were picking up evidence of a 75 mile wide meteorite coming towards Earth. They said the meteorite would not get to earthfor another year or two. They also said it was possible for the meteorite to hit Marsor another planet before it got to Earth. I was 16 years old at the time and I felt like my life was over already. I was convinced the we were going to die until the news said, A man named Jim Wipan is trying to make domes for people to live at if the meteorite hits Earth. He is willing to pay for them all to be built. The only downfall is he is saying that you will have to bring 20 gallons of water and it cost 2500 dollars just as a tuition. Later you would have to pay up to 8000 dollars. While I was listening to the news I was thinking what if my family and I could get a dome. Then the TV said how much the domes cost. Also I have a family of four that means we would have to bring 80 gallons of water. Then I thought what if we make our one domes. We can make our own domes, my dad said. • 5. Race Ethnicity And Gender In The Lowell Factory While reading the assigned article, I was immediately interested since I am currently learning about the foundation of women s rights in History. Race ethnicity and gender shaped the workforce in the early textile mills by paying women half of what they pay males for the same job. This shows the difference between a primary labor market and a secondary labor market; The primary market being which men get paid higher wages than those of women. Race also had an impact on the workforce by immigrants offering to work for such low wages as women would, sometimes being rejected from any job at all. Women in the Lowell Factory were so closely supervised because women women who were closely supervised were not able to organize. Also, they were supervised since that idea appealed to many parents who would send their daughters to the mills. Some parents would send their daughters to the mills because they could barely provide for their children. These decades are very different from one another. This paper compares and contrasts the traits of these times in the world of pop culture. Pop culture is an accurate way to observe the past because it shows everything that was mainstream and a staple of the time. The 1920s is notorious for the amount of partying people did at the time. People in the 20s had attitudes that said yeah, why not? . The mood of the twenties was energetic because of the parties, dances, and the alcohol. The Great Gatsby painted a perfect picture of the time and really captured what the party life was like. On week ends his Rolls Royce became an omnibus, bearing parties to and from the city between nine in the morning and long past midnight... (Fitzgerald). The partying was so relevant that some of the women of this time period were called flappers. Flappers generally had short bob haircuts and revealing clothing. This is a great way to show how accurate popular culture is when looking back. The flapper was a symbol and she accurately represents the mood of the time. This differs so much from the 1930s because that was a time of sadness and loss. The 1930s represents depression and poverty. The 1920s held its head high with a big smirk and full of pride. This is really captured as the spirit of the age because of how social the times were. Blacks and whites would join at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The substantial increase in the transition of FDA approvals from standard chemotherapeutics to targeted therapies is also equally astounding (Martino et al., 2015). The traditional chemotherapeutic agents are simply not being developed with the same frequency by drug companies any more. While chemotherapeutics have had a real impact and in some diseases a dramatic impact, for most common solid tumours, these impacts have been minimal. What was remarkable about this was that 95% of patients with CML had this chromosomal abnormality (ROWLEY, 1973). Subsequent research showed that in a CML cancer cell, the fusion protein BRC ABL functions as a constitutively activated intracellular tyrosine kinase that binds to ATP and transfers a phosphate group to its target substrate protein. The target substrate protein then becomes phosphorylated and progresses to stimulate cell growth of the leukaemia cells (Lugo et al., 1990). The drug, Gleevac mimics ATP so it binds to the site within the BRC ABL that s normally bound by ATP, preventing it from binding. It thereby prevents phosphorylation of the substrate target protein and prevents cancer cell growth (Deininger, Buchdunger and Druker, 2005). Based on the 1998 2000 clinical studies, Imatinib yielded high response rates with minimal toxicity in all phases of CML and consequently received FDA approval in 2001 (Druker et al., 2001) (O Brien et al., 2003) (Druker et al., 2001) (Hahn, 2003). • 8. The Five Most Powerful Pro Life Argument Analysis This weekend I watched a video titled The Five Most Powerful Pro Life Arguments posted by user Take Five Nation. The five claims presented were that 1) supply doesn t meet demand for adoption, 2) life begins at conception, 3) abortion compromises women s health by increasing chances of developing breast cancer, 4) medicine proves that a fetus is a person, and 5) abortion contradicts the basic moral principle of preserving life. After carefully evaluating each argument, I found some to be sound and some to be inarguably invalid. The first argument was that if there are couples waiting to adopt, and abortion takes away the chance for a couple to have a child, then all women should choose adoption in lieu of abortion. Though this argument seems valid enough, it is based largely on rhetoric alone. To claim that adoption is always a better option than abortion suggests that simply not wanting a child is the only reason that women ever choose to have an abortion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the only argument I found to be entirely false and, therefore, unacceptable. Several studies have debunked this theory time and time again. In fact, statistically speaking, a woman is technically at an increased risk for breast cancer after completing a term pregnancy Another claim of theirs was the classic life begins at conception argument. That is to say that if life begins at conception, and ending a life is immoral, then abortion is immoral. Though it is valid, the claim that ending a life is immoral is false, rendering the argument not sound. If ending a life were immoral, then that means anything from eating (since all food was once a living plant or animal), to killing someone in self defense is inherently wrong. With this same logic, their claim that abortion contradicts the basic moral principle of preserving life is also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, SOX was the response to general failure of business ethics such as the propagation of abusive tax shelters and greater aggressive tax avoidance strategies (Raabe, Whittenburg, Sanders, Sawyers, 2015). Tax Advantages of Sarbanes Oxley Considering the tax planning, SOX identify the potential risks of the similar firm conducting both tax services and auditing for a business by changing the relationship between the audit Committee of company and external auditors, thus providing a new obligation for the tax services to be pre approved by the audit committee while the auditors are not limited from the tax services they can offer (Piotroski Srinivasan, 2007). The Security Exchange Commission specifies that the audit committee in charge of retention and appointment of auditors must examine first, transactions primarily suggested by the accountant of the firm, secondly transactions which the only purpose is tax evasion, and lastly the treatment of tax that may not be assisted by the Internal Revenue Code of the United States and associated regulations (Piotroski Srinivasan, 2007). Fashion and celebrity, as they are today, are often seen as the end product of a long historical process of industrialisation and democratisation. How useful is it to see them in this historical perspective? What does it help to explain? Your answer should discuss concrete examples. Introduction Throughout the long expansion of human history, local fashion and clothing have always been a good indicator that reflects historical, political and economical forces within a society. Varies historical periods will have corresponding fashion and style to represent their unique value and culture. Multiple looks with a variety of stylistic influences are stripped from their historical contexts and become part of a large fashion influenced process (Kaiser, 1990). Thus, our modern day fashion is indeed an end product of series of historical progression. This essay will aim to examine how does history and culture of a civilization shape its unique fashion styling and influence modern day fashion by using China as an example and explore the variances in its fashion development throughout five thousand years of rich Chinese history. The differences of what it really means to be an equal gender nation has been around for years, but it has been becoming more and more popular with politics and media recently. Females are portrayed as inferior to males when they should be treated as equals in today s society. We have come a long way since the Women s Rights Movement in the 1800s, but there is still work to be done. To better understand genderinequality, it is important to understand the root where it came from, specific manifestations dealt with gender inequality, and solutions on how to make gender inequality a term of the past. Gender inequality is the social process by which people are treated differently and disadvantageously, under similar circumstances, on the basis of gender (Gender inequality, 2017). This means that one gender is not being treated equally compared to another gender and in most cases it is women. The roots of gender inequality are not from any recent time. In China, they actually are dated back 2,500 years to the Bronze Age according to a recent study from Queens College in New York City. Studies were done by scientists who examined Neolithic Age graves from the Chinese Central Plains about 5,000 years ago. They reported their findings when they examined their bones for signs of stress. Their examinations concluded that there was a significant change in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Lunar Surface Processes And Its Impact On The Earth Essay Lunar Surface Processes Complex alterations of the lunar surface occur, despite the fact that lunar processes are much less varied and dynamic than those of the Earth. The most important source of lunar surface alteration, at least over the last three billion years, is evidenced by the Moon s heavily pocked and cratered surface. The Moonis continuously bombarded by external objects ranging in size from small specks of dust to giant bodies tens of kilometers in diameter. These impacts are governed primarily by gravity as the solar system continues to evolve. Celestial bodies within the solar system are continually being rearranged by close encounters with one another, altering orbits, and over the course of geologic time, causing collisions with other bodies. These collisions result in two possible outcomes: fragmentation or cratering. If the colliding objects are of a similar size, collisional fragmentation and annihilation occur, producing a large number of smaller fragments from both involved bodies. If the objects are of differing sizes, collision results in an impact crateron the target body. Since objects that encounter the Moon are dramatically smaller than the Moon itself, cratering occurs. Typical impact velocities of asteroidal objects on the Moon are between 15 and 25 km/sec. With these high velocities, in combination with the high frequency of impact, the cumulative kinetic energy on lunar surface exceeds the lunar internal energy released by ... In 2005, China announced the move stating it was a move towards allowing the Yuan to eventually float freely. However, China still maintained intense government control by abandoning its peg to the U.S. dollar and simply moving it to link with a handful of other world currencies (Schuman, 2012). So while this step may have paved the way towards a floating currency, it was s step taken that also kept in place a way for tight government control and regulation. Then, in 2008 to help curb the effects of the global financial crisis, China s economy once again pegged it s currency to the U.S. dollar. Since, China has removed that peg and in 2010 again announced to the world that is was committed to resuming reforms of the Yuan exchange rate and increasing currency flexibility (China Daily, 2010). It seems that with flexible exchange rates in China, it feels like two steps forward, one step backwards. While they are indeed moving toward a floating exchange rate, it is a slow going process filled with exhaustive government control and regulation. Many colored people were separated from whites by the laws put in place; such as separate but equal and many others. There were many groups that stood up against these laws such as the NAACP which held many protests. These groups also stood up against many laws such as separate but equal . The Passing of separate but equal laws was unfair to blacks it s discrimination lead to the Brown v. Board of Educationcase that had a positive result because public schools were desegregated. Separate but Equal laws were created to separate colored people from white people. Despite many disagreements they still made segregation legal the courts challenged earlier civil rights legislation and handed down a series of decisions that permitted states to segregate people of color (Smithsonian). • 24. Poverty And The Inner City Poverty has been a consistent problem throughout the history of the world. Despite the wealth of a country, there will always be people who are homeless and hungry. Poverty carries many different definitions, but one that truly encompasses all of its effects is, the unfulfillment of basic human need required to adequately sustain life free from disease, misery, hunger, pain, suffering, hopelessness, and fear (Julio, 76). Even though the United is one of the most prosperous countries in the world, it is not immune to poverty. In 2014, 46.7 million people (15%) were in poverty in the United States. This is no small issue, and one that we as Christians are called to combat. In the United States poverty is a national problem, however, it is most prevalent in the inner cities. The inner city is defined as, A general term for impoverished areas of large cities. The inner city is characterized by minimal educational opportunities, high unemployment and crime rates, broken families, and inadequate housing (Dictionary.com). We are becoming ever more reliant on the internet for our day to day lives. We expect to have the ability to do what we want on the internet. Net Neutrality is the concept that internet service providers allow you to use these services without interference. Websites, services and information cannot be blocked, slowed down or prioritized over others. Net neutrality means that all data should be treated equally (Kraemer). Net Neutrality is vital for our day to day lives and a lot more important than it may seem. In fact, without Net neutrality, the internet would change as we know it. The internet has always been an open platform for those who want their voices heard, their ideas shared, or their projects and businesses expanded. Removing it means that the internet would be a lot like paying for cable television. Internet service providers would be able prioritize websites and even block competitors or those who simply cannot afford to pay. • 30. Beer Simulation Root Beer Simulation At the outset, I have to acknowledge that I had a problem with this simulation. Initially, in my first two orders, I confused the backlog and inventory sections, so that I believed I had a significant surplus in inventory. Therefore, rather than minimizing the bullwhip of supply and demand, I exacerbated the problem by limiting my supply well below the number of orders coming in, much less below what I could fill with the backlog and incoming orders. This error on my part certainly led to increasing instability, not only in my own incoming orders, but also in the entire supply chain. The simulation also kept auto filling my initial order, which was only 10,000 cases, despite me ordering a significantly larger number of cases. I could not get the simulation to operate properly and allow me to place a larger order. It kept auto ordering the 10,000 cases. I could not get it to place an order other than 10,000 cases. Because of this glitch, I continued to increase my backlog. I simply could not order more than 10,000 cases. I address this issue because the glitch certainly impacted my opinion of the computer simulation as a means of learning. In this scenario, the initial computer simulation was absolutely worthless as a learning tool. I made an error in my first order, but I do not think that error was meaningful. Instead, it appears that whatever number of cases I placed in my initial order would be the number of cases ordered over the next several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within the past few years the area has begun to address its severe urban sprawl issues by providing developers with density bonuses and improving the walkability of certain urban centers but this still has not done enough to keep pace with the housing demand. How can Los Angeles meet the housing needs of this extremely large and rapidly growing population in a sustainable fashion? The Los Angeles area doesn t need more sprawl that s for sure and the shear size of the city itself lends itself to a logical step: Urban Infill. What is Urban Infill? It is based on the observation of order in the world, and that the complexity of the universe shows evidence of design. This design implies a designer; capable and sentient, and this designer is God. The argument is split into two parts: design qua purpose and design qua regularity (Jordan, et al., 2002). Design qua regularity looks at the evidence of design, found in the order and regularity in the universe (Jordan, et al., 2002). It was first developed in the 13th century by St Thomas Aquinas, who in his fifth way in Summa Theologica, argued that the world of nature is like an arrow shot from an archer s bow, it has direction and purpose even if it lacks awareness as some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end: and this being we call God (Aquinas, 2009, p. 23). William Paley, another key contributor in of the Teleological argument, uses the planetary movements and Newton s laws of motion are also specific examples to provide evidence for design qua regularity part of the argument (Paley Ware, 1857). Design qua purpose looks at the evidence of design in relation to the ways in which the parts of the universe appear to fit together for some purpose. William Paley put forward the most famous form of the design qua purpose argument in his book Natural Theology (Paley Ware, 1857). Paley used the analogy of a watch and suggested ... Foreshadowing is shown consistently throughout the novel in various ways including; the introduction of Curley s wife, Lennie s constant unawareness of his own strength, and Candy s dog being killed. These situations and scenes build towards the final tragedy of the novel effectively. Throughout the novel, Lennie is shown to love and care for various animals and people, however in each instance Lennie is shown to be unaware of his own strength, and inadvertently hurts the things he loves. This builds towards the final tragedy in the novel, as Lennie unintentionally kills Curley s wife, leading to George and Lennie s worst fears to be fulfilled. An example of this would be that the death rates of black American men are 26 percent higher than that of white men. Also, the death rates of black American woman are 19 percent higher than that of white women. An explanation for this is because blacks have a lower socioeconomic status than white. Jerry, Ryan Reynolds, exhibited many of the classic symptoms that we associate with Schizophrenia; he also had several of the predisposing risk factors. This movie gave a good overall portrayal of the lifestyle that someone with Schizophreniacould potentially lead, especially how normal one can seem if you only know them superficially. We get to see different parts of his life from his perspective, and then from the perspective of the other characters. One particular example of this is his apartment. From Jerry s perspective, it is well kept and orderly; when Lisa comes to see him, we see that his apartment is actually a mess, there are multiple stacks of boxes, blood everywhere from the dismantling of Fiona s body, and animal feces from his cat and dog. It is evident early on in the movie that Jerry is socially awkward. He works in a factory, but does not seem to interact with any of his coworkers. This could be partially due to the fact that he does seem to be a fairly new employee, but many of his coworkers make comments about him being weird or odd . He lives by himself in a secluded old bowling alley, with his cat and dog. Whenever we do see him interact with his peers, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, through Jerry s flashbacks, we learn that he had a fairly traumatizing childhood. His father was abusive, and his mother appeared to have had Schizophrenia as well. She referred to her voices as her angels. When Jerry told her he could hear voices too, she told him to never tell anyone because they would come after him. When his mom was trying to commit suicide, Jerry was right next to her; she even had him finish her off because she couldn t. • 47. Accident At Three Mile Island Summary Operators were also responsible for the failure of the auxiliary feedwater pumps, as a test of the twelves valves two days before the incident led to them remaining closed until the incident itself, a clear violation of regulations set in place by the NRC. When asked about it post incident, an operator claimed it was very easy to forget to reopen the valves after a test, whether you just plain forgot or you were relieved at the end of your shift before you could do it.4 Again, this ties to the unbelievable lack of education and micromanagement that was present in a typical operator. Yet another time, the issues tie back to the carelessness of the NRC in preparing its operators for the job. However, the entirety of that blame cannot be placed... Secondly, one of the causes of the meltdown was a cease in movement in the coolant loop, which is caused by the U shaped pipe. But if people already knew of these issues, why had they not been addressed and fixed? These warnings could have easily assisted in preventing some of the damage to the reactor, but not all of it. As previously mentioned, the partial meltdown had many factors that led to its happening, and reversing just one was not enough to fix the whole mess, but what is most important about Kelly and Michelson s work is yet another example of government incompetence that almost led to a massive disaster. Had these warnings been acknowledged and spread, issues with the Babcock and Wilcox design could have been resolved months before the Three Mile Island incident. Not being a nuclear engineer, it is difficult to tell whether or not these issues could have prevented the meltdown, but at least the government wouldn t have stalled vital ... Understanding the difference between the different engine types and sizes will help you to make an informed decision when choosing a vehicle. What Is The Difference? A 4 cylinder engine contains 4 pistons while a 6 cylinder contains 6, driving the power of your engine. So the easy answer would be more cylinders equals more power. Most small cars, light trucks, and even some small SUV s contain 4 cylinder engines. 4 cylinder engines are typically inline engines (the 4 cylinders are in a straight line as opposed to a v shape like most 6 cylinder engines), making them smaller and lighter weight. ...
