Essay on A Worn Path
A Worn Path2 Phoenix Jackson: Mind Over Matter Novelist Eudora Welty is often studied and adored
by many readers; her much deserved recognition comes from her brilliant, deeply compassionate, and
lively stories and novels (Ford 36). Like many of her stories, Eudora Welty s A Worn Path is set in
Mississippi. In A Worn Path, Welty focuses on an old woman s journey to Natchez and on the many
obstacles that she encounters along the way. Phoenix is going to town to get medication for her
beloved grandson. But he trip is difficult because nature and her handicaps are making it hard for her
to reach her destination. Nevertheless, the old woman boldly continues along the equally old path,
struggling every step of the way. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She knows that her life is limited and she has no time for obstructions.
When she finds herself snagged on a thorn bush, she talks to it as she patiently frees herself. Thorns,
you doing your appointed work Never want to let folks pass no sir (159). As Phoenix wobbles along,
she comes across a sitting buzzard and in three simple words she lets him know that he will not dine
upon her. Who you watching (160)? She slowly sways past him and continues her journey, while
nature carefully plans the next obstacle. Sure enough, as Phoenix stands and ponders, a big black dog
creeps up behind her. Old woman, she said to herself, that black dog come up out of the weeds to stall
you off (161). She accepts the fact that the black dog is merely following nature s orders. Phoenix s
old body is not as quick as her wit. When Phoenix is startled by the huge mutt, her mind reacts much
faster than her body, causing her to drop into a weed cushioned trench. The old woman is discovered
by a young hunter who quickly snatches her out of the ditch. As they converse, Phoenix catches a
glimpse of a shiny nickel that drops out of the hunter s pouch. Her mind reacts; her face lights up and
she claps her hands. Look at that dog! She laughed as if in admiration. He ain t scared of nobody. He a
big black dog (161). Knowing that her old body needs plenty of time to grab the nickel, she uses her
wit to shift the hunter s attention toward the fearless

Overexpression Case Study
p16INK4a overexpression in pre malignant lesions
Several pieces of evidence suggested that the ability to bypass senescence is the main molecular
mechanism involved in the progression of pre malignant to malignant cells (Braig 2005; Collado
2007). This hypothesis is based on the concept of oncogene induced senescence, which was
established after demonstration of p53 and p16Ink4a mediated senescent like arrest in response to
expression of oncogenic Ras in normal primary cells (Collado 2007). This event (OIS) has been
considered as highly possible mechanism to prevent proliferation of incipient cancer cells (Sinha
2015). Consistent with this concept, senescent cells have been shown in a number of different benign
lesions, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
p16INK4a methylation could thus have a diagnostic application; it can be used in the differential
diagnosis from pre malignant and malignant lesions (Feng 2015).
OIS is emerging as a potent cancer protective response to oncogenic events, serving to eliminate early
neoplastic cells from the proliferative pool. Kuilman et al. (2008) reported a unique role of interleukin
6 (IL 6) in OIS of cancer cells. Using combined genetic and bioinformatic analysis, they found that
OIS was linked specifically to the activation of an inflammatory transcriptome. Induced genes
included IL 6, which upon secretion by senescent cells acted mitogenically in a paracrine fashion
(Kuilman 2008). IL 6 was also required for the execution of OIS, but in a cell autonomous fashion. Its
depletion caused the inflammatory network to collapse and abolished senescence entry and
maintenance. They also demonstrated that C/EBPĪ² cooperated with IL 6 to amplify the activation of
the inflammatory network, including IL 8. In human colon adenomas, IL 8 specifically colocalized
with arrested, p16INK4a positive epithelium. They proposed a model in which the context dependent
cytostatic and pro mitogenic functions of interleukins contribute to connect senescence with an
inflammatory phenotype and cancer. The role of role of IL 6 in OIS has been confirmed by later
studies

Also we are the one s that want to pay for the wall and so i think that we should be the ones paying for
it. Hillary clinton also has a plan for immigration but it s a little more different. Hillary will introduce
comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to full and equal citizenship within her first 100
days in office. It will treat every person with dignity, fix the family visa backlog, uphold the rule of
law, protect our borders and national security, and bring millions of hardworking people into the
formal economy. This not agree with due to the fact that there are people in the United States of
America that are bad people. If she were to pass this law then i could give the bad people citizenship.
This will then give them a lot more rights and overall would be a bad situation to out this country into.
Another thing that she plans on doing as soon as she comes into office is to Do everything possible
under the law to protect families. If Congress keeps failing to act on comprehensive immigration
reform, Hillary will enact a simple system for those with sympathetic cases such as parents of
DREAMers, those with a history of service and contribution to their communities, or those who
experience extreme labor violations to make their case and be eligible for deferred action. Donald
Trump is a great candidate

Nt1310 Unit 1 Elements Of Training
System nature: The system requirements and functioning can be a very simple task or a complex one.
Training level and duration can be brief with a pre defined step by step procedure to solve a limited
problem. Because in this case the most of the task is performed by the system and user has limited
thinking and evaluation requirement. On the other hand, if the user is supposed to analyze the given
task and problem, define a procedure or routine to solve it then the detail and long term training is
required. So in general, training must be as per the system complexity and the capabilities of the users.

based on common experience to teach the new system. Training speed is more rapid leads to quicker
use of the system on a regular basis. The users feel more comfortable around the resident expert and
feel confident to raise their doubts and explain the problems to a familiar face. Resident experts can

A Nation Is A Social Concept With No Uncontroversial...
Nation is a social concept with no uncontroversial definition, but which is most commonly used to
designate larger groups or collectives of people with common characteristics attributed to them
including language, traditions, customs, habits, and ethnicity. A nation, by comparison, is more
impersonal, abstract, and overtly political than an ethnic group. It is a cultural political community
that has become conscious of its autonomy, unity, and particular interests.
According to Ford s National Question: a nation is not a racial or tribal, but a historically constituted
community of people; a nation is not a casual or ephemeral conglomeration, but a stable community of
people ; a nation is formed only as a result of lengthy and systematic intercourse, as a result of people
living together generation after generation ; and, in its entirety: a nation is a historically constituted,
stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life, and
psychological make up manifested in a common culture.
The nation has been described by Benedict Anderson as an imagined community and by Paul James as
an abstract community . It is an imagined community in the sense that the material conditions exist for
imagining extended and shared connections. It is an abstract community in the sense that it is
objectively impersonal, even if each individual in the nation experiences him or herself as subjectively
part of an embodied unity with others.

The Effects Of Mixed Bacterial Culture And Surfactant Play...
The experimental results in this experiment were similar to, but not exactly the same as those outlined
in literature. Primarily, examination of the demonstration material was relevant in helping understand
the role that a mixed bacterial culture and surfactant play in the formation of emulsions and biomass.
Preparing the control treatment (no inoculum, no surfactant) was important because it established a
method of comparison of the remaining experimental treatments and assessing whether or not the
results obtained were rational. The experimental flask that was prepared as part of this experiment
contained no inoculum and had surfactant addition. As indicated by the observations, demonstration
flasks that contained surfactant had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, the demonstration flasks that were not inoculated did not have biomass adhering to the edges of
the flask. Evidently, microbial growth could not have occurred in the flasks that were not inoculated,
therefore biomass formation was inhibited in these flasks. Moreover, the degradation of hydrocarbons
into simpler products did not occur in these flasks. Again, this is attributable to the lack of
microorganisms in these flasks. Biomass was present in the two flasks that were inoculated by a mixed
bacterial culture. Most importantly, however, biomass formation was most prevalent in the flask with
mixed bacterial culture inoculum and surfactant addition. This observation aligns with the results
outlined by Van Hamme et al., (2000), who noted that the addition of a surfactant to a mixed culture
resulted in higher biomass levels throughout the incubation period (109 CFU/ml) than compared to a
mixed culture containing only crude oil (108 CFU/ml). Moreover, the addition of a surfactant resulted
in a 48 hour growth phase, as opposed to a 24 hour growth phase in the absence of surfactant (Van
Hamme et al., 2000).
Next, streak plates of the demonstration flasks were prepared. As was expected, demonstration flasks
without mixed bacterial culture inoculum did not show signs of colony growth on the streak plate. In
contrast, the streak plate that was prepared using the experimental flask (no inoculum, surfactant

Differences In Present Day South America
The diversity of our world has been created by many explorers throughout history. Who were curious
and eager to find riches for their countries and to colonize them. One of the most famous explorer
known to this date is Christopher Columbus. He was an Italian explorer who got sponsored by the
Spanish kind king Ferdinand I. Columbus initially wanted to travel to India and China to capture the
spices, money and other valuable possessions. Yet he was unaware of the fact that in the way of India,
and China he would encounter another vast piece of land known as the Americas. When he had landed
in the Caribbean s he would unknowingly make huge changes which would effective us even to this
date .Contrary if Columbus never landed in the Caribbean there would be many differences in present

Unjust Law
In Martin Luther King s, Letter from Birmingham Jail he explains what he thinks is a just law and
what makes an unjust law.So what makes a just and an unjust law? A just law, according to King, is a
man made code that squares with the moral code. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with
the moral law. In the world we live in today most laws are just, but many issues are caused by
prejudice people. Many are afraid to suffer the consequences that come with standing up for what is
right. For me, suffering the consequences would be worth it if not everyone is given equal rights, one
race is being attacked about a certain law, and if a law forces me to do something I refuse to do.
In the United States everyone is promised freedom. I believe that means freedom of who you choose
to be, and how you choose to live. During the Civil Rights movement it was about blacks wanting

During those times blacks on a bus were supposed to give up their seat to a white if all seats were
taken, but she refused. Parks was later arrested because it was against the law to not give up your seat

one day there is I will go to jail for a law that is unjust and, again, gives other races a privilege than
mine, and forces me to do something I refuse to do.
Facing the consequences for breaking a law would be worth it if not everyone is given equal rights,
because no one should be treated as less for who they are and choose to be. Laws pertain to every
citizen, so if someone is being prejudice against one race there would be no second thought on my part
to stand up against it. Also, just like Rosa Parks if a law forces me to do something I refuse to do I will

What is outsourcing Essay
What is Outsourcing? It is a method in which companies subcontract labor and support to outside
agencies (Klepper, 1997). How, why, and who companies outsource to are quickly becoming social
topics of discussion in our society. Everyone seems to have an opinion on outsourcing. I bet that I can
walk into a social gathering right now and hear discussions like outsourcing is good for the American
consumer or outsourcing takes jobs away from all of the hard working Americans. In either case,
outsourcing has raised great concerns over its effects on the American economy. In this paper, I will

outsourcing, employee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, it may be more expensive to outsource. Sometimes it is cheaper to keep a process in house as
compared to outsourcing. Security and confidentiality concerns may arise, especially with payroll and
confidential information such as salary (Earl, 1996).
BPO is similar to information technology outsourcing but includes outsourcing related to accounting,
HR, benefits, payroll, and finance functions and activities (Embleton, 1998). Business Process
Outsourcing (BPO) is a decision to subcontract some or all important, non core, business processes.
This allows companies to invest its time, talent, and capital on basic business strategies that help
company growth. Better and more affordable services become available for consumers and taxpayers
(Embleton, 1998). Outsourcing allows companies to operate on an around the clock, 24/7 production
cycle, further adding to productivity (Embleton, 1998).
No matter what type of outsourcing a company uses, there is a see saw effect, someone on the high
and low end. There are pros, cons, positives and negatives. For example, if you are a cost cutting
director at a competitive company, the mention of outsourcing, especially offshore, may bring a smile
to your face. For computer programmers, call center workers, or factory workers the reaction is likely
to be more negative. The primary pro is that outsourcing jobs outside of the U.S. may help to

Avoidance Spirals Case Study
Avoidance spirals are a type of destructive conflict pattern that continuously reinforces conflict
between individuals, thus reducing the possibility of positive conflict resolution. As the model
suggests, the continual avoidance of conflict with others is likely to create a downward spiral in
managing conflict with others since most individuals who prefer the avoidance conflict style, as
mentioned above, become more and more uncomfortable confronting problems directly since they
have little to no practice or experience in doing so. As such, the person becomes more and more
fearful of using other conflict styles since they perceive their ability to effectively communicate their
feelings as being poor. The avoidance spiral occurs primarily because

Chaos In Macbeth
In the Jacobean Era, it was believed that the universe was governed by a natural order and when this
came disrupted everything would descend into chaos. Corrupt views of right and wrong allowed for
the rule of God to be disobeyed and subsequently, turmoil ensued. Macbeth, written by Shakespeare,
portrays characters in a crisis of morality during a time of universal imbalance. In the face of evil and
chaos, human relationships become strained. Uncontrolled ambition between man and wife, lack of a
stable and righteous leader within a country, and the erosion of a sense of self when in a battle with
consciousness leads to destruction. Balanced human interactions are unable to prosper in the face of
evil and chaos; however, nature will always prevail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It becomes obvious that the Macbeths are close and have insight into each other s character. Early on
within the play, they are equal in love and ambition and are willing to commit unspeakable crimes in
order to please each other. They share a joint passion in wanting to rule Scotland and are blind to the
possible consequences of their actions. When they plot and carry out the murder of Duncan, the
Macbeths attain the power they so desperately craved and it eventually starts to pull them a part. Their
corrupt views of right and wrong not only disrupt both the chain of being and the natural order of the
universe but also, their marriage. Macbeth is willing to give everything in his life in order to maintain
his position as King. His hunger for power and growing ambition outweighs his desire to please his
wife, thus creating inequality within their relationship. The destruction of natural order that is a result
of Duncan s murder is paralleled in the destruction of the Macbeths marriage. Further demonstrating
the unnatural elements present within this play is the gender role reversal between Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth. Lady Macbeth s ambition to attain the kingship can be seen in her desire to rid of her
feminine traits. She wants the spirits to tend on mortal thoughts, unsex [her] here, (1.5.44) and come

Light Waves
Light waves over the electromagnetic reach carry on in equivalent ways. Exactly when a light wave
encounters a thing, they are either transmitted, reflected, devoured, refracted, stimulated, diffracted, or
scattered depending upon the structure of the article and the wavelength of the light.
Particular instruments on load up NASA transport and planes assemble data on how electromagnetic
waves act when they speak with matter. These data can reveal the physical and substance structure of
matter.
Reflection is when scene light (drawing nearer light) hits an article and ricochets off. To a great degree
smooth surfaces, for instance, mirrors mirror all event light.
The shade of an article is truly the wavelengths of the light reflected while each and every other
wavelength are held. Shading, for this circumstance, suggests the assorted wavelengths of light in the
unmistakable light range saw by our eyes. The physical and substance structure of matter makes sense

Refraction is when light waves modify course as they run beginning with one medium then onto the

Practical Investigation Of Enthalpy Of Solution
Practical Investigation: Enthalpy of Solution
Introduction
The enthalpy of a substance or solution refers to the chemical energy or heat content that is stored
within the substance. When a substance undergoes a reaction, the chemical energy in the substance is
released or more energy gets absorbed into the substance; this is known as exothermic and
endothermic reactions, respectively. Within this practical, the aim was to investigate the change in
stored chemical energy of a sodium chloride solution by measuring the temperature change that occurs
when sodium chloride is added to distilled water. The experiment was carried out by using a

Part (i) Threat 1 a) Title: Internal Threats Employee threats b) Description of security threat An
internal threat concerning employees is a wide ranging issue as it can encompass various situations.
The primary issue stems from an authorized, nontechnical user or a system that can utilize the system
without creating a red flag. (Peltier, 187). c) Justification for inclusion with emphasis on risk and
potential damage The internal threat is a primary issue as employees, statically, is the cause of security
issues. The information available to the employees can commit various types of criminal acts from
fraud, to insider trading, to breaking international laws. There can also be issues with disgruntled
employees, potentially if the employee is only contracted or temporary. It is a common practice in
large companies, especially international companies, to outsource and contract work. This can create
issues with personnel if a contract is ended in an unexpected way. There is also an inherent temptation
with the information available, especially considering various white collar crimes. d) Organizational
response An organizational response would be to create policies to deter internal attacks, which can be
done in multiple ways. The first method would require creating a training program to educate
employees and discourage such behavior. The second would be to create procedures outlining their
different levels of access that employees can have depending on their job

Heart Of Dixie Research Paper
Alabama, known as the Heart of Dixie or The Cotton State, joined the union as the 22nd state in the
year of 1819 of December. This state is located in the southern part of the United States and its capital
is Montgomery. During the 16th century, Europeans reached the Alabama area and about 10,000 years
ago, American Indians was engaged in the area. Alabama got its name after the Alabama River. An
Indian tribe lived in the territory around 1540 and spelled it as Alibamo. The origin of the name
Alabama is thought to come from a combination of two Choctaw words; Alba and Amo. In Choctaw,
Alba means vegetation, herbs, plants and Amo means gatherer or picker. Vegetation gatherers would

The First Book Of Nephi Summary
Book Review: The First Book of Nephi: His Reign and Ministry Nephi was one of the sons of Lehi.
Lehi received visions from the Lord and began attempting to repent the people of Jerusalem. After his
attempted murder from those angered by his preaching, Lehi listened to God s commands and left
Jerusalem. Shortly afterwards, God commands Lehi to send his four sons back to Jerusalem so that
they may retrieve The Brass Plates held by Jerusalem s powerful leader Laban. The brothers failed
during their first couple attempts to take the Plates from Laban, but once Nephi traveled alone and
prayed to the Lord, he was successful in defeating Laban with his own sword, which had been
commanded by God, and returning the Brass Plates to his father who spend times ... Show more

Not long after Nephi s brothers attempt to kill him, Lehi has a vision of the Tree of Life and takes it as
a sign to continue his teachings about God and to convince his family to keep his commandments.
Nephi prays and receives the same vision along with its interpretations that shows the future for the
sons and their children. Lehi s sons later marry the daughters of Ishmael and discover in which they
use travel the Red Sea to find the Americas. On this journey Nephi proves once more that there is a
God and his commandments should be followed, when his bow breaks but his strong faith and will
strengthened him enough to rebuild another bow and continue to guide his family on their journey.
The brothers are trialed many other times during their journey, but finally Nephi s abusive older
brothers began to exhibit some sort of faith when Nephi commands them not to kill his father nor
touch himself or they would both die. Commanded by God, Nephi then touches his brothers, making
them believers. Once they reached Americas, Nephi was left in charge because of Lehi s death. Nephi

Educational Attainment Is Poor And Exclusive Today s...
Education has the potential to enable all people to enhance their capabilities and functioning in order
to allow the achievement of sustainable livelihoods and a brighter future outside the classroom.
However, currently educational attainment is poor and exclusive in today s education system. This
problem is related to a range of economic, spatial, institutional, social and cultural structures and
processes that revolve around the subject of how the students attitude is around their entitlement . The
current education system s power is currently promoting a sense of academic entitlement in its
students. Student entitlement can be operationally defined: a self centered disposition characterized by
a general disregard for traditional faculty relationship boundaries and authority , or it can be described
appropriately as a sense that students deserve what they want because they want it and want it now
(Weimer). Entitlement can be seen as positive or negative, depending on how the special need label is
regarded. It is important to understand academic entitlement and and increase the awareness on how
predominant this mindset is in the current education system. Leading to the conclusion that students
and educators should both work hard in order to create and strive toward a common goal (Corbett
117). This changing attitude of students towards their educational success is considering it as an
entitlement and not a reward for their hard work. (Baggini 24 28). A

Observation Report On Coaching Observation
Intro
For the coaching observation project I observed the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Urban
Meyer. I watched him on TV when Ohio State played Penn State. The reason I selected Urban Meyer
to do my coaching observation is because he is the coach I decided to model my coaching philosophy
after. The reason I chose this game specifically is because this is a very important game and I want to
see how he handles his team in high pressure situations.
Review
1. Coaching style used or observed
A coaching style is the specific way a coach leads his team. The coaching style Urban Meyer used was
a laissez faire type coach. A laissez faire type coached is defined as a leader who makes as few
decisions as possible. During the weeks prior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His non verbal communication was just his facial expressions that his players and assistant coaches
can see. His team was losing for most of the game and you could tell he was not happy. Penn State
returned the opening kick off and he looked disappointed, but he kind of kept his composure. Later in
the 2nd quarter during another kick return that was returned pretty far by Penn State his anger was a
little more visible as he was yelling and appeared very angry. Later once Ohio State started to play
better you could see his attitude change and he got happier. I m not sure if his negative attitude made
his team play worse, it is just something to think about whenever I am a head coach.
3. Reinforcement techniques
Reinforcement techniques are used to increase or decrease a behavior. During a game, especially on
the stage that Urban Meyer is coaching, it is important for his players to play well. Some techniques
that Urban Meyer used to reinforce his players during the game I observed were negative discipline.
His special teams were struggling a lot, especially his kickoff team. They were playing so bad that he
decided to remove multiple players from it and add starters from other positions onto the kick off team
to try and have better success. This shows that if you want to play, you have to perform.
4. Motivation techniques
Motivation techniques are how a coach

Climate Change Is False
Due to various theories, many people believe climate change is false, yet, there is a wide range of
evidence proving this worldwide issue is in fact true. To begin, the temperature of nearly every body
of water on Earth has increased. In addition, the average amount of precipitation has decreased in the
northern hemisphere. Besides this, many animals are being impacted by climate change.
First of all, the world s oceans have increased in temperature. According to www.nasa.gov, the Ocean

Conflict Resolution Paper
Conflict Resolution Paper As nurses, it is imperative that we have skills to deal with conflict we

disagreements can persist for weeks or even months and never be handled in a proper way to resolve

Avoidance results in resolution being delayed rather than resolving the issue in a timely manner
(Eason Brown, 1999). The ill feelings between PCTs and nurses were created by avoiding talking
about the problem for a long time. Avoidance resulted in a snowball effect of increasing resentment
and anger between the two groups.
Conflict Transformational Theory Solving conflict using the transformational theory is beneficial.
According to Chinn (2008), using the conflict transformation theory, the conflict transformation is
used before there is a conflict. Any rising issue is addressed in a constructive way, paying attention to
possible lessons learned (Chinn, 2008). Using the transformational theory would have prevented the
bad feelings towards each other. It is not one person s responsibility to try to resolve a conflict (Chinn,
2008). If transformational theory were used in the described situation, the problem would have been
addressed much earlier. Management would have called for a meeting where everybody would have
had a chance to voice their problem according to the transformational steps and theory described
below. As a disagreement arises, the group follows specific steps to come to a solution. Chinn (2008),
describes four steps of critical reflection. First, each member has a chance to describe the how I feel...
about the conflict (Chinn, 2008). In the second step, the group focuses on when (or about)... where the

Customer Lifetime Value
CUSTOMER LIFETIME VALUE: MARKETING MODELS AND APPLICATIONS Paul D. Berger
Nada I. Nasr ABSTRACT Customer lifetime value has been a mainstay concept in direct response
marketing for many years, and has been increasingly considered in the ļ¬eld of general marketing.
However, the vast majority of literature on the topic (a) has been dedicated to extolling its use as a

calculation/determination; and (c) has considered it as part of the general discussions of proļ¬tability
and discussed its role in customer acquisition decisions and customer acquisition/retention trade offs.

Determining or calculating CLV was done solely by considering speciļ¬c numerical cases. Researchers
considered a particular setting, with speciļ¬c input parameters, and computed CLV to use it in the
decision making problem prompting the CLV determination. In this paper, a systematic general
approach to the computation of CLV is offered. General mathematical models are provided to
calculate CLV in a variety of typical cases. The major contribution of this paper is that it is less
contextspeciļ¬c than previous discussions of CLV, and that it provides general mathematical
formulations of CLV, while additionally tying together the speciļ¬c assumptions underlying a
formulation and, indeed, the formulation. Though not exhaustive, the cases treated deal with the large
majority of typical practices. The choice of cases is based on both a systematic theoretical taxonomy
and on assumptions grounded in customer behavior. In addition to the introduction, this paper has four
sections. First, we introduce a general way to determine CLV. Second, we treat ļ¬ve general cases,
offering a mathematical model to compute CLV in each case. Each general case is followed by a
numerical example. Third, we discuss some managerial applications of the use of a general model of
CLV. As an illustration, we consider an example in which a general model of CLV is used to optimize
the allocation of a promotional budget between Acquisition and Retention. Finally, we offer
conclusions and suggest areas

As I sit and hear them say nigga this and nigga that I begin to wonder why they feel the need to use

it about? It s a pretty funny show that explains why this black guy feels he has the right to use the

black he is allowed to use this word freely. My favorite part was when he and 2 other black co workers

that right, when his 3 white co workers who are sitting across the room try to chime in you realize just
how hard it is to approach this conversation, as soon as one of the white guys said something the 3
black guys appeared really offended.
That s a really good view on it, everytime I hear the word I get a little uneasy, I just feel like it is
something that shouldn t be used. I replied. Being white I have always had the thought that using that
word is negative, that when you say this you are being negative. I state.

Pablo Picasso s Boy With A Pipe
Growing up I was infatuated with art, I love the creativity that a person could bring to any piece of

many others. The name of this Painting is Boy with a Pipe, created by one of the greatest artist in the
world, Pablo Picasso. This representational painting was created in the year of 1905 when Picasso was
24 years old (Daluwatta). This Painting is representational because, the oil that is on the canvas
depicts a young white Persian boy who is holding a pipe in his left hand and also wearing some type
of headband of flowers around his head. Picasso lived in Le Bateau Lavoir in Montmartre when he
created this mister piece. Picasso called the young white boy Little Louise, he had spent much time in

It is believed that Picasso is imagining his own alter ego while holding his own pipe and that the boy
is a reflection of Picasso (Chipp). In my opinion this work depict a very young boy that represent

The Enlightenment Was A Life Changing Time Period For...
The Enlightenment was a life changing time period for Americans. I believe that the best definition to
ascribe to the Enlightenment would be to shed light on . Whether it is a subject, object, or opinion, all
of the definitions made sense to me. One of the reoccurring themes we hear about in this era is
religion. The new American religious figures of this time, like pastor/preacher Jonathon Edwards,
desperately wanted to break away from the old world doctrines of Europe. In an attempt to get people
on board with the new spiritual awakening that was taking place, Edwards used scare tactics in his
sermons, that gave his followers the impression that if their souls did not become saved, and they did
not dedicate their lives to their religion, they would be deemed to spend eternity in hell, paying for it.
There were infinite ways a man could be sent to hell, and it was more of an effort trying constantly not
to be deemed wicked or unworthy, than it was just to live your life as a good person, not worrying
about the practicalities of it all, for example, when Edwards preached, God has so many different
unsearchable ways of taking wicked men out of the world and sending them to hell . (Edwards 212)
The religious followers that Edwards preached to, and the supporters of the witch trials at Salem may
have at one point, even through their fear and hate, seen these experiences as spiritually enlightening,
giving them a sense of purpose and direction in their lives, but I

The kingship will remain with Judah, until the Messianic promise made to Abraham is finally known

The broader view of this text would be the tribunal obedience of Israel to the royal family. However,
since Christ has come to earth and made known His rightful position, only those who chose to submit
to Him will be obedient (John 15:1 8). Yet, when He returns for the final time in His glory, at that
point, all will display humble obedience towards Him (Dan 7:27).13 Verse 11 The context of verse

The Future Of Electric Cars Essay
Electric cars are becoming very popular in today s world and are becoming more main stream. One
reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For the
majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine that
would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and also
creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very clean and
pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this paper we are
going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car technology, and peer into
the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer to dramatically reducing our
global pollution. In the 1800s the development of the battery and the electric motor led to the first
electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to just one inventor
or country so several inventors have been given credit for the invention of the electric car. A
Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered by an electric motor in 1828. And
roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland invented a crude electric
carriage. Also in 1835 Professor Stratingh of Groningen, Holland built another small electric car with
his assistant Christopher Becker. There was another inventor named Thomas

of heroism because of his discovery of the Americas. Thus, many countries have proclaimed
Columbus Day as a national holiday to celebrate the anniversary of Columbus s arrival to the
Americas in 1492. However, in the U.S, Columbus Day started as a celebration of the Italian
American heritage and in 1937; however, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed Columbus Day

showing how the Sirens are trying to lure Odysseus and his men to their death. The Sirens use their
voices to lure sailors to their death. In the painting you can see that the men have cloths wrapped

The Ticonderoga Class Guided Missile Cruiser
The Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser is a large and powerful surface combatant in the United
States Navy. The cruiser has the ability to engage short range air, undersea and surface targets, as well
as a long range strike capability. With around 300 crew and 30 officers (Navy 4), this billion dollar
warship (Navy 4) can serve in many roles when it comes to the mission of the United States Navy. The
Ticonderoga class cruisers primary mission is to provide anti air and long range combat capabilities.
The advanced Aegis combat system, coupled with the Tomahawk missile, gives the cruiser a much
longer range than most other ships in the Navy. The cruiser was initially slated as a DDG (Polmar 4);
however, with the addition of the AEGIS, the USS Ticonderoga (CG 47) was designated a CG on
January 1, 1980 (FAS 5). Not long after, the keel was laid on January 27, 1980 (FAS 5) and the project
went into full effect. The USS Ticonderoga served all over the world fighting in places such as the
Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean, Operation Desert Shield and many others. The USS Ticonderoga was
the first ship to be deployed with the AEGIS weapons system, the most sophisticated air defense
system in the world. The first 5 Ticonderoga class cruisers were built with Mark 26 twin arm
launchers that did not have the ability to launch Tomahawk missiles. In response to this outdated
system and older version of the AEGIS weapons system, all 5 of the original cruisers have since

Difference Between Medieval Art And Renaissance Art
Many things changed from Medieval Times to the Renaissance. The catholic church saw it s reign
secede and individualism increase in the minds of the people of the time. Because of this, people in
the Renaissance now looked at themselves in a way that was never seen before. Slowly but surely, the
whole world changed. The rise in individualism and humanism signified a change in the way people
thought about their purpose in life. In the Medieval Times, people believed that they were at the mercy
of God, and they had no control over their own bodies or lives. From the change in Medieval Times to
the Renaissance, whole fields were changed, especially art and the medical field, because of the rise of
the individual and that way of life. Art in the Medieval Times was dreary and bland. Many works of
art were solely about God or holy figures. The most obvious change from the Renaissance to Medieval
Times was the arts, according to Document A and also that One begins to know the names of the
artists ... feel stronger emotions in the subjects . This shows that Renaissance art not only changed in
style, in changed in how it made the viewer feel when seeing the art. Similarly, in Document A,
Renaissance art is described as new artistic styles would echo the broader movements and interests of
the new age.... . As compared to Medieval Times, the style of art became something similar to the time
that people could relate to. In the Medieval Times, art was just meant to extol God s many feats.
People who viewed the painting were supposed to put that style of art on a pedestal. Medieval art was
supposed to be worshipped, not so much understood. The individual in the Medieval Times was
supposed to take away from the painting that the only thing that mattered in their life was the Roman
Catholic church and God already had a plan for their lives. But in comparison, Renaissance art was
supposed to empower and help people of the time to understand themselves and the fact that they can
change their own lives. Anatomy of the Medieval Times was incredibly different from anatomy of the
Renaissance. According to the diagram in Document D, anatomy was controlled by the zodiac, twelve
star position that each controlled a different part

Bipolar Disorder And Mental Health
Bipolar Disorder is otherwise known as manic depressive illness. It is a brain disorder that causes
shifts in moods, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out daily tasks. (Cite) These changes in
behavior are outside of the norm as most people have ups and downs throughout their daily routines.
But those with Bipolar Disorder experience shifts in mood that can be damaging to relationships, as
well as their overall school and work performances. (Cite) I chose this disorder as the topic for my
paper because a few years back my mother was diagnosed with the disorder. I have always been
curious whether or not I would end up like her, later on in life, with the same manic depressive illness.
And if I did end up with this disorder I wonder if I would pass it onto my children. According to the
National Institute of Mental Health there are four individual types of bipolar disorder: Bipolar
Disorder I, Bipolar Disorder II, Cyclothymic Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder Not Otherwise Specified
. My mother has Rapid Cycling Bipolar Disorder and she has been hospitalized quite a few times for
psych evaluations. Those who experience rapid cycling can go between depression and mania as often
as a few times a week (some even cycle within the same day). (An Introduction to Bipolar Disorder).
Growing up with a mother who has this disorder and a stepfather with schizophrenia its very hard to
think of good memories since there was always arguments and fighting. It s a strange

Does The Shape Of The Roof Of A Car Affect How Far A Model...
Different shapes can affect how far a car can travel based on the how the air flows around it. The
question of the experiment is Does the shape of the roof of the car affect how far a model car can
travel? The hypothesis of the experiment is if the roof s shape is changed, then it will affect how far
the car can travel. The shape of the roof is the independent variable and the distance traveled is the
dependent variable. The control variables are the size of the wheels, where is the car is launched from,
and the same place to be launched from. The experimental groups are a car with a pyramid shape as a
roof shape, a cube shape, and a hemisphere shape. The control group is a car with a flat surface as a
roof. To start testing for this experiment some materials needed are some LEGOā„¢ bricks, and a ruler
to measure the distance traveled. To collect the data run the control car 10 times. Then do the same for
the cubed, pyramid, and hemisphere shaped roofs. Collecting the data is simply measuring how far
they went. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cube shaped roof came in second with an average of 3.8 centimeters traveled. The pyramid
shaped roof had an average of 3.59 centimeters traveled. The car with the least distance traveled was
the hemisphere which traveled an average of 3.15 centimeters. Each and every trial was tested the
same way so the launch force could be kept as a constant. The data collected had a light trend whereas
the less linear a shape became, less distance was traveled. The control group was the most linear
followed by the cube, pyramid, and hemisphere. The averages went lower as the shapes got less

Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals
During the late 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche examined the history of morals in his Genealogy of
Morals. In his work, Nietzsche reveals the origin of morality, and he goes further to tear down the
basis of Christianity and Kant s Moral Law to show that there is a plurality of conflicting morals in
society. Max Weber, who was a philosopher greatly influenced by Nietzsche, writes further on the
plurality declaring that there is a polytheism that is the result of many conflicting values. Weber
concludes that there is no science of ethics after Nietzsche, so there is no way to determine the correct
value system. There is currently polytheism and a plurality of values that will not be resolved because
all values are valid despite them conflicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this new polytheism, conflict rages between different gods, and it will go on for all time. It is as it
was in antiquity before the world had been divested of the magic of its gods and demons, only in a
different sense (Science as a Vocation p. 23). The contemporary polytheism is similar to the ancient
one in that it consists of conflict; however, in neo polytheism, the gods are impersonal forces. There is
no magic or personal gods in this new system. There is just conflicting value systems where each
value system is equally valid. This is a difficult reality for people to digest due to the blinding strength
the Christian church has on people. Christianity led people to believe that there was only one way to
live. Any other value system was wrong in the eyes of Christians. People will become more aware that
there is a plurality of value systems, and that each set of values can be considered just as valid as the
next: The destiny of our culture, however, is that we shall once again become more clearly conscious
of this situation after a millennium in which our allegedly or supposedly exclusive reliance on the
glorious pathos of the Christian ethic had blinded us to it (Science as a Vocation p. 24). People will
learn to move away from the ethics laid forth by Christianity and, in the face of polytheism, make
their own

Discrimination In The Movie The Help
Within the movie The Help there are a variety of major issues represented, most directly the
discrimination that existed in the 1960s. The movie itself follows the journey of a white, budding
journalist and her relationship with two black maids, Aibileen and Minny, during the Civil Rights
Movement in 1963 Jackson, Mississippi. To start off her career as a journalist she decides to write a
book, titled The Help, recounting the experiences of the black maids in her town to help expose
racism. The movie itself is very critical of the racial discrimination that existed in its time frame but
some say that it silently communicates racist tones throughout the entire movie. This argument is
justified as the movie often found itself highlighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the movie there s a continued feeling of helplessness with the black maids, with how desperate
their situations seem to be. But, that all changes when Skeeter decides to start writing about the
hardships that they have. All of a sudden everything seems to be a little lighter, more hopeful as soon a
Skeeter is implemented into the movie. Although it may be historically accurate at the time that there
weren t many black journalists, the black maids at the very least could ve written their story
themselves and perhaps taken a more forward and progressive role to reveal the discrimination that
they faced. But, in the movie the black maids do nothing until Skeeter arrives. An example of this
happens in the movie where there was no one was willing to talk about their own problems until
Skeeter started asking around. Although this would have been accurate for the time period for the
movie as they would have been scared of the repercussions, it gives a sense of helplessness for the
black community. Some people would ve for sure started to talk and write about ehr own problems
especially at the time period that the movie was taking place with Martin Luther King and his civil
rights march. This was the time period of major change in the U.S.A especially for black communities
since they finally had a voice. Furthermore, once Skeeter finished writing her book it seemed as if
everyone instantly started to read the book and started treated black maids better. Perhaps it time it
would result in events that did happen in the movie, but obviously this wouldn t happen overnight or
even over a week as seen. All of this makes the viewer of The Help feel as if Skeeter was the main
driving force of the movement in her town and she should be the one praised, not the black maids who
had to suffer and risked everything by telling their

Christian Spiritual Renewal
For the past 300 years, the United States, particularly the Lutheran Churches has a long history of
sending missionaries to all over the world. The missionary movement is the fruit of pietism among
Lutherans in The United States. This movement transformed many communities through out the
world, resulting mass conversions in Asia, Africa and Latin America. As times have changed, there has
been a huge paradigm shift in mission and Evangelism in modern times among Lutherans here in the
United States. There is growing absence of spiritualness among Christians and non Christians alike. It
is ironic that many Christian are moving away from Christian spirituality. However, there is eagerness
to not only be connected with one another but to also connect with life in solar system and in the
Universe. Every person believes in something and therefore labels that as spirituality, which is often
practiced in various ways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Essay on A Worn Path A Worn Path2 Phoenix Jackson: Mind Over Matter Novelist Eudora Welty is often studied and adored by many readers; her much deserved recognition comes from her brilliant, deeply compassionate, and lively stories and novels (Ford 36). Like many of her stories, Eudora Welty s A Worn Path is set in Mississippi. In A Worn Path, Welty focuses on an old woman s journey to Natchez and on the many obstacles that she encounters along the way. Phoenix is going to town to get medication for her beloved grandson. But he trip is difficult because nature and her handicaps are making it hard for her to reach her destination. As Phoenix wobbles along, she comes across a sitting buzzard and in three simple words she lets him know that he will not dine upon her. Who you watching (160)? She slowly sways past him and continues her journey, while nature carefully plans the next obstacle. Sure enough, as Phoenix stands and ponders, a big black dog creeps up behind her. Old woman, she said to herself, that black dog come up out of the weeds to stall you off (161). She accepts the fact that the black dog is merely following nature s orders. Phoenix s old body is not as quick as her wit. When Phoenix is startled by the huge mutt, her mind reacts much faster than her body, causing her to drop into a weed cushioned trench. The old woman is discovered by a young hunter who quickly snatches her out of the ditch. As they converse, Phoenix catches a glimpse of a shiny nickel that drops out of the hunter s pouch. Her mind reacts; her face lights up and she claps her hands. Look at that dog! She laughed as if in admiration. He ain t scared of nobody. He a big black dog (161). Overexpression Case Study p16INK4a overexpression in pre malignant lesions Several pieces of evidence suggested that the ability to bypass senescence is the main molecular mechanism involved in the progression of pre malignant to malignant cells (Braig 2005; Collado 2007). This hypothesis is based on the concept of oncogene induced senescence, which was established after demonstration of p53 and p16Ink4a mediated senescent like arrest in response to expression of oncogenic Ras in normal primary cells (Collado 2007). This event (OIS) has been considered as highly possible mechanism to prevent proliferation of incipient cancer cells (Sinha 2015). Consistent with this concept, senescent cells have been shown in a number of different benign lesions, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... p16INK4a methylation could thus have a diagnostic application; it can be used in the differential diagnosis from pre malignant and malignant lesions (Feng 2015). OIS is emerging as a potent cancer protective response to oncogenic events, serving to eliminate early neoplastic cells from the proliferative pool. Kuilman et al. (2008) reported a unique role of interleukin 6 (IL 6) in OIS of cancer cells. Using combined genetic and bioinformatic analysis, they found that OIS was linked specifically to the activation of an inflammatory transcriptome. Induced genes included IL 6, which upon secretion by senescent cells acted mitogenically in a paracrine fashion (Kuilman 2008). IL 6 was also required for the execution of OIS, but in a cell autonomous fashion. Its depletion caused the inflammatory network to collapse and abolished senescence entry and maintenance. They also demonstrated that C/EBPĪ² cooperated with IL 6 to amplify the activation of the inflammatory network, including IL 8. In human colon adenomas, IL 8 specifically colocalized with arrested, p16INK4a positive epithelium. They proposed a model in which the context dependent cytostatic and pro mitogenic functions of interleukins contribute to connect senescence with an inflammatory phenotype and cancer. The role of role of IL 6 in OIS has been confirmed by later studies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nation is a social concept with no uncontroversial definition, but which is most commonly used to designate larger groups or collectives of people with common characteristics attributed to them including language, traditions, customs, habits, and ethnicity. A nation, by comparison, is more impersonal, abstract, and overtly political than an ethnic group. It is a cultural political community that has become conscious of its autonomy, unity, and particular interests. According to Ford s National Question: a nation is not a racial or tribal, but a historically constituted community of people; a nation is not a casual or ephemeral conglomeration, but a stable community of people ; a nation is formed only as a result of lengthy and systematic intercourse, as a result of people living together generation after generation ; and, in its entirety: a nation is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life, and psychological make up manifested in a common culture. The nation has been described by Benedict Anderson as an imagined community and by Paul James as an abstract community . It is an imagined community in the sense that the material conditions exist for imagining extended and shared connections. It is an abstract community in the sense that it is objectively impersonal, even if each individual in the nation experiences him or herself as subjectively part of an embodied unity with others. ... Primarily, examination of the demonstration material was relevant in helping understand the role that a mixed bacterial culture and surfactant play in the formation of emulsions and biomass. Preparing the control treatment (no inoculum, no surfactant) was important because it established a method of comparison of the remaining experimental treatments and assessing whether or not the results obtained were rational. Biomass was present in the two flasks that were inoculated by a mixed bacterial culture. Most importantly, however, biomass formation was most prevalent in the flask with mixed bacterial culture inoculum and surfactant addition. This observation aligns with the results outlined by Van Hamme et al., (2000), who noted that the addition of a surfactant to a mixed culture resulted in higher biomass levels throughout the incubation period (109 CFU/ml) than compared to a mixed culture containing only crude oil (108 CFU/ml). Moreover, the addition of a surfactant resulted in a 48 hour growth phase, as opposed to a 24 hour growth phase in the absence of surfactant (Van Hamme et al., 2000). Next, streak plates of the demonstration flasks were prepared. As was expected, demonstration flasks without mixed bacterial culture inoculum did not show signs of colony growth on the streak plate. In the world we live in today most laws are just, but many issues are caused by prejudice people. Many are afraid to suffer the consequences that come with standing up for what is right. When they plot and carry out the murder of Duncan, the Macbeths attain the power they so desperately craved and it eventually starts to pull them a part. Education has the potential to enable all people to enhance their capabilities and functioning in order to allow the achievement of sustainable livelihoods and a brighter future outside the classroom. However, currently educational attainment is poor and exclusive in today s education system. This problem is related to a range of economic, spatial, institutional, social and cultural structures and processes that revolve around the subject of how the students attitude is around their entitlement . The current education system s power is currently promoting a sense of academic entitlement in its students. Student entitlement can be operationally defined: a self centered disposition characterized by a general disregard for traditional faculty relationship boundaries and authority , or it can be described appropriately as a sense that students deserve what they want because they want it and want it now (Weimer). Entitlement can be seen as positive or negative, depending on how the special need label is regarded. It is important to understand academic entitlement and and increase the awareness on how predominant this mindset is in the current education system. Leading to the conclusion that students and educators should both work hard in order to create and strive toward a common goal (Corbett 117). Later in the 2nd quarter during another kick return that was returned pretty far by Penn State his anger was a little more visible as he was yelling and appeared very angry. Later once Ohio State started to play better you could see his attitude change and he got happier. I m not sure if his negative attitude made his team play worse, it is just something to think about whenever I am a head coach. 3. Reinforcement techniques Reinforcement techniques are used to increase or decrease a behavior. During a game, especially on the stage that Urban Meyer is coaching, it is important for his players to play well. Some techniques that Urban Meyer used to reinforce his players during the game I observed were negative discipline. His special teams were struggling a lot, especially his kickoff team. They were playing so bad that he decided to remove multiple players from it and add starters from other positions onto the kick off team to try and have better success. To begin, the temperature of nearly every body of water on Earth has increased. In addition, the average amount of precipitation has decreased in the northern hemisphere. Besides this, many animals are being impacted by climate change. First of all, the world s oceans have increased in temperature. Some conflicts are easily handled with simple solutions; other disagreements can persist for weeks or even months and never be handled in a proper way to resolve the situation. The later kind of situation can create resentment, anger, and animosity between employees or colleagues. In this paper I will describe a conflict situation with resolution strategies used by the confronter, discuss other ways to resolve the conflict, and discuss the conflict theory most beneficial to use with a diverse group of people. Avoidance results in resolution being delayed rather than resolving the issue in a timely manner (Eason Brown, 1999). The ill feelings between PCTs and nurses were created by avoiding talking about the problem for a long time. Avoidance resulted in a snowball effect of increasing resentment and anger between the two groups. Conflict Transformational Theory Solving conflict using the transformational theory is beneficial. According to Chinn (2008), using the conflict transformation theory, the conflict transformation is used before there is a conflict. Any rising issue is addressed in a constructive way, paying attention to possible lessons learned (Chinn, 2008). Using the transformational theory would have prevented the bad feelings towards each other. It is not one person s responsibility to try to resolve a conflict (Chinn, 2008). If transformational theory were used in the described situation, the problem would have been addressed much earlier. Management would have called for a meeting where everybody would have had a chance to voice their problem according to the transformational steps and theory described below. As a disagreement arises, the group follows specific steps to come to a solution. Chinn (2008), describes four steps of critical reflection. Nasr ABSTRACT Customer lifetime value has been a mainstay concept in direct response marketing for many years, and has been increasingly considered in the ļ¬eld of general marketing. However, the vast majority of literature on the topic (a) has been dedicated to extolling its use as a decisionmaking criterion; (b) has presented isolated numerical examples of its calculation/determination; and (c) has considered it as part of the general discussions of proļ¬tability and discussed its role in customer acquisition decisions and customer acquisition/retention trade offs. Determining or calculating CLV was done solely by considering speciļ¬c numerical cases. Researchers considered a particular setting, with speciļ¬c input parameters, and computed CLV to use it in the decision making problem prompting the CLV determination. In this paper, a systematic general approach to the computation of CLV is offered. General mathematical models are provided to calculate CLV in a variety of typical cases. The major contribution of this paper is that it is less contextspeciļ¬c than previous discussions of CLV, and that it provides general mathematical formulations of CLV, while additionally tying together the speciļ¬c assumptions underlying a formulation and, indeed, the formulation. Though not exhaustive, the cases treated deal with the large majority of typical practices. The choice of cases is based on both a systematic theoretical taxonomy and on assumptions grounded in customer behavior. In addition to the introduction, this paper has four sections. First, we introduce a general way to determine CLV. Second, we treat ļ¬ve general cases, offering a mathematical model to compute CLV in each case. Each general case is followed by a numerical example. Third, we discuss some managerial applications of the use of a general model of CLV. As an illustration, we consider an example in which a general model of CLV is used to optimize the allocation of a promotional budget between Acquisition and Retention. I believe that the best definition to ascribe to the Enlightenment would be to shed light on . Whether it is a subject, object, or opinion, all of the definitions made sense to me. One of the reoccurring themes we hear about in this era is religion. The new American religious figures of this time, like pastor/preacher Jonathon Edwards, desperately wanted to break away from the old world doctrines of Europe. In an attempt to get people on board with the new spiritual awakening that was taking place, Edwards used scare tactics in his sermons, that gave his followers the impression that if their souls did not become saved, and they did not dedicate their lives to their religion, they would be deemed to spend eternity in hell, paying for it. There were infinite ways a man could be sent to hell, and it was more of an effort trying constantly not to be deemed wicked or unworthy, than it was just to live your life as a good person, not worrying about the practicalities of it all, for example, when Edwards preached, God has so many different unsearchable ways of taking wicked men out of the world and sending them to hell . (Edwards 212) The religious followers that Edwards preached to, and the supporters of the witch trials at Salem may have at one point, even through their fear and hate, seen these experiences as spiritually enlightening, giving them a sense of purpose and direction in their lives, but I ... One reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For the majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine that would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and also creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very clean and pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this paper we are going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car technology, and peer into the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer to dramatically reducing our global pollution. In the 1800s the development of the battery and the electric motor led to the first electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to just one inventor or country so several inventors have been given credit for the invention of the electric car. A Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered by an electric motor in 1828. And roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland invented a crude electric carriage. The movie itself follows the journey of a white, budding journalist and her relationship with two black maids, Aibileen and Minny, during the Civil Rights Movement in 1963 Jackson, Mississippi. To start off her career as a journalist she decides to write a book, titled The Help, recounting the experiences of the black maids in her town to help expose racism. Within the movie there s a continued feeling of helplessness with the black maids, with how desperate their situations seem to be. But, that all changes when Skeeter decides to start writing about the hardships that they have. All of a sudden everything seems to be a little lighter, more hopeful as soon a Skeeter is implemented into the movie. Although it may be historically accurate at the time that there weren t many black journalists, the black maids at the very least could ve written their story themselves and perhaps taken a more forward and progressive role to reveal the discrimination that they faced. But, in the movie the black maids do nothing until Skeeter arrives. Some people would ve for sure started to talk and write about ehr own problems especially at the time period that the movie was taking place with Martin Luther King and his civil rights march. This was the time period of major change in the U.S.A especially for black communities since they finally had a voice. Furthermore, once Skeeter finished writing her book it seemed as if everyone instantly started to read the book and started treated black maids better. Perhaps it time it would result in events that did happen in the movie, but obviously this wouldn t happen overnight or even over a week as seen. All of this makes the viewer of The Help feel as if Skeeter was the main driving force of the movement in her town and she should be the one praised, not the black maids who had to suffer and risked everything by telling their ...
