Competition Between Groups Over Land And Basic Resources
As long as humans have been alive and able to communicate, there has been competition between
groups. While this may have begun with competition over land and basic resources, competition
between groups has developed into a complex social structure. After some time, one group comes out
on top. This dominant group then has a self validated foundation of which to build discriminatory acts.
The dominant group has one or more desirable traits or resources that the minority group does not
have, so this dominant group believes itself to be superior to the minority group. This structure of
competition has led to hate, discrimination, and violence between groups.
Group competition did not end over a battle over resources and land. Groups have found more
ambiguous ways to identify themselves as superior. Disagreements between groups over values,
religious beliefs, and traditions have led to discrimination, violence, war, and genocide. Romans killed
Christians because Romans believed Christians were religious fanatics. Sunnis and Shi ites have
fought since Muhammad s death over who they believed was the rightful predecessor. German Nazis
annihilated six million Jews because Nazis believed that Jewish people were inferior and led to
Germany s decline in the 20th century. And to this day, dominant groups continue to discriminate
against minority groups.
This has been the way our world has functioned for centuries. The dominant group takes whatever
means necessary to remain at the top,

of trouble. It is something that kids look forward to doing whether it s a football game , baseball game,

I was a big sports person growing up, I played baseball and hockey.I played rec baseball with bethel
park and I played inline hockey before switching to ice hockey. Baseball though was my favorite
sport, plus I was better at baseball. I always played with the same group of kids in the rec ball league

Descriptive Essay About Stress
Memoir Assignment Utter bewilderment fills those curious about the past, but the ones who make an
attempt to relate it to the future; are the ones who possess a blessing, yet a curse. Those who wonder
about the future have all experienced one thing; stress. Stress is present in all life, including mine, but
the feeling is much more potent in some than others. It is taken upon my soul to hate when others
make assumptions about my personal stress, without knowing the cause... which has occurred from
the time I stepped on this planet. Personally speaking, stress is not present in my life for the reasons
many might think, such as school and homework. The ones who assume those things about myself
have only etched my bare surface. Lost in my thoughts, I slammed the door behind me, as I exited my
home and waved over to my friend who stood in my driveway; patiently waiting with his loving
german shepherd. I skipped along the yellow brick pathway: laid by the previous owners, and then
onto the main street, accompanied by my friend or otherwise known as the boy next door. His
grandmother lives across the street from me in a luxurious, stone home, concealed in pine trees, as he
then visits me when he is at his grandfather s. The regular street is surrounded by expensive homes
with impeccable gardening. My favorite of which is a house with an intricate fountain in the middle of
the driveway, as it reminds me of a past neighbor I had that I was quite fond of. I have grown quite

Great Philosophers
For this assignment, I chose the following three ethical philosophers: Confucius, Immanuel Kant, and
Paulo Freire. Each of these ethicists differs in the way they resolved ethical dilemmas and the
assignment will focus on how each ethicists would respond to a certain situation. Confucius reasoning
is that all human are good; however, when face with an ethical dilemma, there is an inequality
between what is good and bad. I believe that the response from Confucius it would not be acceptable
to steal food to feed a starving child. The reason why I believe this is because Confucius was a virtue
ethicist and believed in loyalty, which is respect for the law and stealing, is not showing respect for the
law (Great Philosophers, n.d.). I believe that Confucius would go to the store and ask the store
manager and tell him the situation about starving child. One of Confucius central virtues is honest,
which is respect for the truth. Telling the store manager the truth is not only respecting the store but
also respecting you (Great Philosophers, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next ethicist is Kant; whose reasoning I believe is that everything that is was illegal and morally
wrong is unacceptable. If we look at the situation regarding the stealing of food for a starving child, I
believe that Kant would response favorable to someone stealing food for a starving child. According
to Kantian ethics, we have a perfect to others not to steal; however, we also have imperfect duty to
assists others in need (Kantian Ethic, n.d.). Kantian Ethics is also based on the face that a person is
good or bad and what is their motivation of their actions and not the goodness of their action (Kantian

Comparing The Cask Of Amontillado And Rhine Boat Trip
Death is a terrifying, but necessary, confrontation for many. According to ecology.com, over 55
million people die each year, which is half the rate of births that occur a year. Shockingly, almost 900
thousand of those deaths are due to homicide. Flashing back to 1942, 60 million Jews, Gypsies, Poles,
soldiers, and citizens were murdered before death could take them naturally. At that time that was 3
percent of the world s population. Seen in The Cask of Amontillado and Rhine Boat Trip , this type of
ruthless murder is portrayed and causes a tainted view of humanity. The Cask of Amontillado and
Rhine Boat Trip are similar and different in many ways including their theme, mood, and setting.
The theme of both The Cask of Amontillado and Rhine Boat Trip is death, specifically murder. In both
stories, the murder was intentional and planned out. The Cask of Amontillado depicts Montresor
taking revenge on Fortunato by luring him down to a wine cellar and trapping him by building brick
wall; Fortunato was left to die by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may not appear to be significant but it is quite the opposite. The attitudes of the background
characters, the landscape, and the habits of the main characters are very similar because they are in
central Europe. Most of Europe s concern seems to be with beauty. In Italy, Montresor and Fortunato
both are appreciators of fine wine, something that is often taken as a joke in America. In Germany, the
focus is mostly on the beauty of nature. Rhine Boat Trip is labeled so because the Rhine is associated
with Germany, it is what Germany is known for. The beauty of the river is what attracts so many
visitors. The difference between Italy and Germany is that Germany is now so closely associated with
the Holocaust that it is harder to appreciate the beauty found there. Italy still has its innocence, but
Germany has become a darker shade of

Animal Persuasive Speech
Hiding behind a big boulder in the hot and sunny Africa is a man holding a shotgun, he spots the large
male lion that he has been tracking for two whole weeks, he aims and you hear the gun sounding and
the male lion falls to the ground. All the man wanted was to say that that was the was the lion he
killed. As of being a kid, I have more of an imagination which makes me think more and want to come
up with ways to help solve problems and figure out how they affect us. As well, I like animals a lot, so
if the animals that are endangered are or have been being killed I am or would like to have a say or
help stop it. When I was researching my topic, I had been finding the perfect articles and videos to get
important and correct information. How many animals die each year. Do they have any laws or
anyone to stop the animal poaching? This was my driving question: How can I convince people to
help stop others from killing the animals for no reason? Once I finished my research, I understood that
in some way it is possible to help stop animal poaching. One of the biggest problems going on right
now is that illegal hunters are killing endangered animals just because of their skin or just as a trophy
hunt. It may not seem like it more and more animals are becoming close to being endangered to
almost extinct. This is happening all because of one thing that makes a chain of events, that is just
killing the animals. The problems that it causes is lack of food, extinction, and lack in reproducing.
The reasons that those are problems is because the lack of food means that the animals in the food
chain that die that are supposed to be food for other animals are dying and can t feed the other
animals, and they die from starvation and it will eventually destroy the whole food chain. With the
food part being said the animals have less and less reproduced because males are dying and it is not
possible, with this cause is less and fewer offsprings each year. As well, both these problems lead to
one exact thing, extinction. I think that the world should try and help stop this because it is a serious
problem and it is illegal. As well, with no animals, the world is not complete and all the things that the
animals do

Panic Disorders And Fear
All humans have feelings. One of those feelings is fear. Many are afraid of the same things. There is a
difference between panic disorder and fear, the body will respond naturally whether it wants to or not.
This also affects the blood pressure and will cause it to change. One of the most common fears is
arachnophobia. This is the fear of spiders. Multiple humans are afraid of them because they are small
and silent. Another fear that is extremely common is ophidiophobia or the fear snakes. (Kahn, 2008)
This particular fear may be caused by the mind saying snakes look scary and may eat one self. Most
people them because they can eat double the size of the biggest part of its body. There are people with
a diagnosis called panic disorder. Panic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

respond naturally and blood pressure will change. Everyone is afraid of something, just some people

Marmee s Role In Little Women, By Louisa May Alcott
Mrs. March, Marmee, gives a supporting and managing effect as the girls strive to defeat their
apparent character mistakes. Louisa May Alcott depicts Marmee as a committed mother who
considers the importance of her responsibility to compose her children s characters and to ensure that
they develop into helpful, beneficial and cheerful women. In spite of Marmee s pedantic view in her
communications with her children, she is nevertheless a model of motherhood.
Whereas she is not a primary character in the novel, Little Women, the mother plays a very important
part both in the construction of the events and as the directing impact, by her activities and her
expressions, in her little girls improvement from childhood into adolescence. Alcott demonstrates
moral examples so that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Meg is invited to the party of Annie Moffat s house she experienced the luxury life by
borrowing the dress and preparing her up with finery. When Laurie saw Meg with that picture he did
not like that transformation, as a result, Meg behaved badly with him. After she returned home, Meg
had confessed to her mother about the situation that had transpired with her at the party, while she
already knew that what she did was wrong and wasn t supposed to happen but in fact, she loved the
luxury hypomania. Marmee in response to this situation communicates her aims and purposes to the
girls:
To be loved and chosen by a good man is the best and sweetest thing which can happen to a woman;
and I sincerely hope my girls may know this beautiful experience.... [Not] marry rich men merely
because they are rich, or have splendid houses, which are not homes because love is wanting. Money
is a needful and precious thing and, when well used, a noble thing but I never want you to think it is
the first or only prize to strive for .

Analysis of Archetypes Essay
Analysis of Archetypes
Once there was a woman who told a story. However, she had more than just an entertaining tale to tell.
She chose common images that everyone would understand, and she wrapped her story around them,
and in this way she was able to teach the people . . .
The traditions of storytelling have long been used as a means to impart wisdom and life lessons to
others. One of the most effective ways in which this is done is through the use of archetypes. While it
is possible to look at these images in a general way, one may also focus an analysis on a single tale. In
this way it is possible to explore the particular images used and their significance in a given situation,
(often a coming of age rite of passage). One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She attempts to control Rapunzel and keep her from reaching maturity, and thus independence. The
moment Rapunzel reaches the age of puberty, (at age 12), the witch confines her to a tower in the
forest. The forest is a symbol of transformation, a place where Rapunzel must discover her growing
maturity. The tower may be similar to the idea of the attic: a metaphor for the mind and some part of
her life yet to be explored, as well as being a phallic symbol. It has no doors or stairs, only a single
high window.
The window is her only entryway to begin her rite of passage, but at this point in her life she has no
means to access it on her own. Once another few years have passed, (placing Rapunzel s age now at
that of a young woman), the prince is introduced. He is a symbol of a possible reward for Rapunzel
should she successfully complete her journey, a vague ideal represented in royalty for which to strive.
However, he is also just a young man who must complete his own rite of passage before he and
Rapunzel may be united.
The fact that he is first drawn to her voice rather than her appearance seems to suggest an attraction
more to who she is rather than anything physical. Her voice may be symbolic of Rapunzel s thoughts
and personality. However, the first time the prince finds Rapunzel, he is obviously unprepared to
proceed into this facet of his life. He searches for a door through which to reach her but is

Society s Demographic Transition
Demographic Transition To begin with a demographic transition is basically the changes that occur
within a society s population whereby these are changes from high levels of crude birth and death
rates with a low rate of natural increase to lower levels of crude death and birth rates yet still having a
low rate of natural increase and having a higher total population, and all of these changes that occurs
goes back to either developments in economy or changes in standard of living. Now as we all know
each and every country has once experienced and witnessed changes in their population either having
transformations in favor of the population or the opposite thus causing many disadvantages to the
population. This process of the transition consists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In ancient times up until today humans were still in stage one though now no country is any longer in
that stage, as every nation has now moved at least to stage two and has therefore experienced many
changes in their population according to().usually during the first stage people used to live on hunting
and gathering to get food and when there was enough food for everyone population used to increase
on the other hand if food was hard to find they usually saw a decline in their population. Whereas
stage two it s a stage of high growth which means there is a rapid decline in death rate yet having a
rapid growth in the population, therefore having a high natural increase, this is mainly because of
improvements in medicine or access to cleaner and healthier life. Usually, countries that experience an
improvement in their standard of living for example because of industrial revolutions they tend to
enter such a stage, such countries that entered this stage were North America and Europe. Then comes
the third stage is known as the stage of decreasing growth whereby BR declines while DR stays
declining and according to () NIR begins to moderate. In this stage, there still is growth though slower
than stage two a society enters this stage when people decide to have fewer children which goes back
to access to contraception and a better economic condition. Usually developed countries with a good
job and standard of living are in such stages which according to () that their economic conditions
encourage them to have fewer children. Finally stage four the stage of low growth in which there s a
very low BR and CR and the possibility of even a low NIR, A country reaches such a stage when CBR
is equal to CDR and the NIR is almost zero. This happens because women enter the labor force and

King Asok Not More Than A Myth Essay
For a long time, King Asoka was thought to be nothing more than a myth. With several writings
concerning him, they all relayed too fantastical an image to be convincing as truthful, keeping him in a
legendary status. This all changed in 1837, well over a thousand years after his death, when a scholar
James Prinsep managed to translate writings on a stone pillar in Delhi. After several other scholars
raced to translate similar writings all over the Indian landscape, it was revealed that this King Piyadasi
was the same as King Asoka. Even with his history pieced together, Asoka s history is still legendary.
He started as a lowly person shunned by his own father and grew to be a ruler of a kingdom that had
never seen complete unity. But indeed, despite the face of caring compassion he attempted to convey
to the Indian people, and despite the reforms he made to various sectors of his kingdom, it is clear
Asoka was only using Buddhism as a way to unite the people and, more importantly, keep them under
his control. It is rumored that Asoka s grandmother was a Greek princess, with his lineage being traced
back to the Seleucus kingship, and that his Asoka s grandmother would have told him stories of
Alexander the Great and other Greek warriors, inspiring Asoka and gearing him towards being the
warrior he would become in the Kalinga Wars. Asoka s mother is supposed to be the daughter of a
Brahman, a Hindu priest. She eventually married the King of India, one of the first of the

Summary Of The Rooftop Of The Creek
Mary split with Lovienthal and Steaks as they left the rooftop in search of Laura and Pamela. She
wanted to inform them of the zombies breaching the creek, and to help gather the children because it
looked imperative that they would be leaving the school immediately. Steaks and Lovienthal set off
for the bus garage to get Albert. They both hoped that he, Johnny, and the McAllisters had made it
farther along in their fortification of a couple of buses than what the time had allotted them to work.
When Mary found Laura she was in the teachers lounge with Sarah and Pamela playing a board game.
Mary quickly and frantically told them what had happened. A wave of panic than set over Laura
leaving her speechless and visibly shaking. Pamela stepped up and told her to take Sarah and go with
Mary to the gymnasium to retrieve her sons and the other children. After that they should meet back at
the cafeteria where she would be with James packing up supplies. Laura still stood frozen and Pamela
had to snap at her yelling, Go now! in order to get her to break out of her coma like state. Laura then
grabbed her daughter by her arm, and together with Mary they ran for the gym. As soon as Pamela left
the teachers lounge she ran into Blake and Mitch. They had seen the McAllisters leave the school and
then return in Albert s golf cart with a subsequent mass of the living dead giving chase to them.
Pamela told them she was on her way to gather James and

Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Analysis
When i was in 5th grade, I woke up one morning really bored. So I was flipping through the channels
on TV, I saw the title Fresh Prince of Bel Air so then I clicked on it right about when it was about to

Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth
In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a person s
intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people committing this moral
crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for their own personal pleasure
rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an aggressive tone when describing the
abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion when portraying intellect as a way the only
way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to convince his readers that intellect should be used
solely for the purpose of increasing knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing
argument about learning for your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers
with the overuse of intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual
just for the sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as
opinions, not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that
results in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual
s private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He
calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your private
life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another example is when
Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to make the effort and fail to
do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this statement is true. He later lists the
activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never demonstrates an example of failure to
use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his claims discredits his argument. Throughout
his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can make it hard for his audience to read. Words he
uses like lethargy and torpor take away from the purpose of his article. Adler is trying to convince his
audience to seek knowledge for enjoyment, but his

Air Travel Literature Review
Demand for air travel is embarking on a period of unprecedented growth with expectations that by
2030 the number of commercial planes around the world will nearly double to 47,000 (John Mandyck,
2017). This literature review will outline the growth of aviation and current issues surrounding the
growth of Air Travel combined with its scope to be sustainable. Topics such as green technology,
public awareness and behaviour are the focus of this review. The meaning of sustainability is varied
and highly contested as a specific definition, however for this review it will referred to as Avoidance
of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance (Oxford Dictionary).
Increased demand in tourism and trade particularly makes air travel less sustainable as the
environmental externalities that already exist are exacerbated. Increased demand for air travel without
innovation into sustainable technology means continued damaging effects to the environment. Air
travel is an increasingly popular phenomena and air transport volume is now five times as large as it
was in 1970 (Journal of Sustainable Tourism, 2009). This statistic is useful in that it creates an overall
idea air travel is increasing, but its meaning is too ambiguous for proper effect. The volume of air
transport could mean the number of flights per week, or the number of sold out flights etc. Although
similar, each varying meaning that the reader chooses to adopt would lead to different

The Political Interest Of Madagascar
Madagascar has always been of great political interest to many countries and governments. It seems a
suitable island that is out of the way, but it is in the centre of everything at the same time. People are
very unsuspecting of it, and it was the same in World War 2 as well...
The Germans and the rest of the Axis had very good reasons for wanting to control Madagascar. The
first is that they were going to use this remote island as a place to deport some of the remaining 10,000
Jewish refugees still in France that had not been able to find a home in South Africa or Brazil. The
French were not the only ones suffering though; the Polish and the Germans really need to get the
Jews out as well. However like many of the other Nazi ideologies, it was not a new one. A lot of
British, Polish and Dutch anti Semites had been considering the idea to move the Jews there since as
early as 1878.
Luckily for Nazis, Madagascar was under the control and within the empire of Vichy France (the part
of France that had surrendered to Hitler), and according to the surrender terms, France had to let the
Germans into Madagascar as well. It was going to be easy. Not only would it get rid of the Jews, but it
would also help the Axis financially as the Jews were currently surviving on charity. In May 1936,
there was a new French administration voted in, and there was serious talk of the Jews being moved
there, and they even went as far as to investigate the island to check if it was liable for that

Social Media Impact On Gender Equality
Have you ever thought about all of the injustices in the world and said, what can I do to help change
them? Three extraordinary people, Emma Watson, Mother Jones, and Mahatma Gandhi not only
thought these things but went out and took action to stop them. Emma Watson uses her social media
influence to enact change in gender equality. Mother Jones used peaceful protests, such as marching to
inform more individuals on the dark secrets of child labor. And Mahatma Gandhi developed
Satyagraha, the use of non violent civil disobedience to defend racial rights. These three individuals
fought for various human rights in similar peaceful ways while striving to make an impact in the
world around them.
Emma Watson was appointed UN female ambassador and has been giving speeches and using her
platform in the media to fight for an end to gender inequality since 2014. She says, I started
questioning gender based assumptions when at eight I was confused at being called bossy, because I
wanted to direct the plays we would put on for our parents but the boys were not . Along with many
other occasions throughout her childhood Emma did not understand why she had to act a certain way
just because she was born with a pink blanket and not a blue one. Emma Watson along with many
other women have been faced with this inequality all of their lives, and Emma states she s one of the
lucky ones. My life is a sheer privilege because my parents didn t love me less because I was born a
daughter.

author, Amanda Reaume, introduces the first part of the book questioning ask the readers what will
they do next after they realize they spent thousands on a great education. She inserts on the different
ways of making it into the real world. The first chapter discusses the difference between paid and
unpaid internships. Paid internships, of course, are getting paid for working at a minimum price, trying
to get experience in the work field. However, the author discusses that it is very competed to get a

With unpaid internships, they are broadly offered, so it is better than nothing. The author also offers to

internship does not work out there are many alternatives such as: co operative education, volunteer
work, work for your professor, and get a cool work study job. Next, she smoothly transitions to the
topic of jobs in the next section. To land an interview, Reaume suggest to have some type of
network/connection with the people in the company one is applying for (basically start kissing up) and
customizing the resume to emphasize one s own personal brand. Once one has landed an interview,
the author emphasize to prepare, prepare, prepare. It is essentially important not to wing the answers
and it can show qualities that company are interested. Furthermore, the author suggest to always be
early to the interview, learn about the company beyond its name, dress for success, ask the right
questions, and always be confident. Another aspect she touched base on was how to be a superstar
employee. This can create a pay raise by being a problem solver, working

Aristophanes Frogs
Aristophanes Frogs, tells the story of the God Dionysus who, distressed of the current state of Athens
tragedians, travels to Hades with his slave Xanthias to bring Euripides back from the dead. Themes
such as the decline of Athens, ambition and identity are explored through Aristophanes Frogs.
The prologue, is all that precedes the entry of the Chorus (Aristotle, Poetics, Section 1452b). This is
relevant in Aristophanes Frogs. The play opens as Dionysus and Xanthias argue over what kind of
complaints Xanthias can use to open the play comically. Depressed by the state of contemporary
Athenian tragedy, Dionysus plans to travel to Hades to bring the tragic dramatist Euripides back from
the dead as he is determined to find a good poet who is excelled in writing. ... Show more content on

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is a silent 1920s black white horror film that describes a traumatizing tale
told by Francis about Alan, his friend and his own experiences with the enigmatic Dr Caligari and his

The Discipline Of Environmental History
Found within various articles and books, the discipline of environmental history permeates the study
of nature and humans. By combining a multitude of studies and methodologies, authors explore the
aspects of the environment and nature along with human interaction to understand how they
commingle, affecting one another. In the following four books and one article, scholars from varying
backgrounds approach environmental history in an assortment of methods in order to prove their
thesis. Their methodologies shape their thought process and lead to the structure of these books.
Further investigation into this process reveals the authors intentions, enabling readers to understand
how methodology fuels the writing process, creating an argument, and producing valuable work.
A strong cooperation lies at the heart of Lisa M. Brady s article entitled, Has Environmental History
Lost Its Way? and sets the tone for many of the following books. She reveals that in order to study
environmental history training in the field is not a requirement. Rather, a conglomeration of
backgrounds can provide insight into the study. Additionally, her article takes a materialistic approach,
suggesting that straying too far from this idea will lead to the breakdown of this study. While this
seems to be the foundation of her article, her ultimate goal is a juxtaposition between the previous
approach and the idea that expanding the field is vital in creating a contemporary narrative. By

Symbolism In Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard
In Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard, the plot follows the Ranyevskaya family trying to cope with
the inevitable auction of their beloved orchard and home. Throughout the play, it is evident that the
Ranyevskaya s mourn, not only the loss of their orchard, but also the loss of a part of themselves. The
cherry orchard in Chekhov s work is really a symbol of the Ranyevskaya s past, and each time they
refuse to accept that the orchard will be cut down is another moment they spend living in the past. The
play commences with the return of Liubov Ranyevskaya from Paris, and it is already clear that Liubov
has lost all of her money the family is in dire need of financial assistance. Despite this, she still looks
to her home and cherry orchard as though they will always be there for her, money or no. Lopakhin

The narration is more than a call to arms, a jolt to the collective memory. The film is an apt social
commentary on the broader issues of the crimes of humanity and those who stand on the sidelines. In
this way, Resnais purpose, self admittedly an indirect attack on the French involvement in conflicts in
Algeria and Indochina, becomes broadly understood. The film is very much symptomatic of the
1950s. For the contemporary audience, the lack of any extensive reference to the specifically ethnic
nature of the genocide is indicative of a reluctance to see the deportations as unique, individual
narratives, a tendency that would later be countered in Shoah. The word ‘Jewish for instance is
mentioned only once in the narration when the narrator counts ‘Stern, a Jewish student from

The bill aims to amend Republic Act 9344, the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, passed six years ago.
I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF SUCH MOVE BY OUR LAWMAKERS. My stand is not to amend the
Juvenile Justice Law but call for its effective implementation instead. Lowering the age of criminal
responsibility constitutes a grave breach on the convention on the rights of the child to which the
Philippines has ratified and acceded. Our country must always be guided by the United Nations
Standard Minimum Rules for the Administration of Juvenile Justice, more commonly known as the
Beijing Rules , which is a framework to consider in determining the age of criminal responsibility. The
Beijing Rules recommends that the minimum age of criminal responsibility shall not be fixed at too
low an age level, bearing in mind the facts of emotional, mental and intellectual maturity. Our
opponents contend that the increasing number of children involved in heinous crimes as the primary
reason for amending the law. But the results of an online poll on the House of Representatives website

The Correlation Of Mental Health And Substance Use Disorder
The Correlation of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder
Just as complex as the trillions of cells that keep our bodies functioning are the effects and correlations
of mental health and substance use disorders. The effect of substance use disorder and psychiatric
illnesses impact individuals biologically, psychologically, and sociologically, however, the correlation
among mental illnesses and substance use disorders are not clearly defined. Due to a lack of
knowledge of substance use as a disorder and the correlation with mental health, the individuals who
suffer from these conditions are marginalized and pushed to tattered edges of their social strata.
Mental health and substance use disorder can create devastating effects on the individuals as well as
their micro, meso, exo, and macrosystems, which perpetuate the negative effects and realities of these
individuals. In our current times with the mass amount of substance use the plagues our society, and
the continued high volume of mental health, it is critical that we gain an understanding of the
correlation between mental health and substance use disorders to better treat and support those whose
realties are filled with unknown pain and exile. Mental health and substance use disorder and their
affects are clearly related, however, the question that remains is whether or not substance use disorders
can create the manifestation of mental illnesses?

I was disappointed that my hypothesis did not prove correct. However, by walking through the store
after the observation time some of my hypothesis was vindicated when I found people forming groups
inside the store.
I like to watch group dynamics. The interactions between people draw my eyes attention. The human
dynamic makes this interesting, but only if they are interacting. As far as my lens goes, if people aren t
interacting, there s nothing happening.

America s New Sense Of World Power
Abby Thompson
Period 5
HOTA Paper
After the years of the American Civil War, America embarked on a manifest destiny, 2.0. America
decided they wanted to expand their territory across the waters. There were many approaches that
were suggested by previous presidents, all with the same goal: World Dominance.
The Big Stick idea was brought to light from President Theodore Roosevelt. The plan reflected many
of the same impulses that were motivating domestic reforms that were taking place in America. He
wanted to expand that reform to Cuba. He wanted to send a message that reflected to nations America
s new sense of world power. With this policy Presidents could exercise power unfettered and alone if
he was overseas in an american territory. Roosevelt believed that a civilized (industrial) nation was to
go in to uncivilized (non industrial) countries and have the right as well as the duty to intervene in the
affairs of a backward nation to preserve order and stability, for the sake of both nations he said.
Venezuela, for example, had a deteriorating economy that began to renege on debts of european
bankers. In response, the Roosevelt Corollary (now the Monroe Doctrine), was put into play. the
Roosevelt Corollary claimed the united States had not only the right to European intervention in the
Western hemisphere but also to intervene itself in the domestic affairs of its neighbors if those
neighbors proved unable to maintain order and national sovereignty on their own, such

Summary Of Never Fall Down
Pehrnel Poppitz
Hr. 3 During the rule of the Khmer Rouge, many innocent people were put through harsh treatment
including rape, slavery, and torture. Along with all of these things, many of these Cambodians were
killed for being too weak to work or do anything else. Pol Pot, who was the leader at this time, has
been estimated at killing around 2,500,000 Cambodians, which is nearly 20% of the population.
During the novel it is apparent that the author s purpose is to describe how life was during this time
for a young boy named Arn, show how brutal survival was for those who did, and how the Khmer
Rouge brainwashed their victims. In the book Never Fall Down , Arn starts off as a lower class kid
who does anything he can to make an extra buck. He sells ice cream to kids, but also gambles with
adults. However, he shows he doesn t want this money all for himself. After acquiring the money, he

city with as much of their belongings as they can carry. For the 12 mile walk, they were given little

How Do The Fuels ( Carbohydrate And Fat ) We Use Change...
Lab Report How do the fuels (carbohydrate and fat) we use change during exercise of varying
intensity?
During exercise energy comes from Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). There are 3 energy systems, these
are glycolysis, phosphocreatine (ATP CP) and the aerobic system. During short term intense activities
a large amount of power needs to be produced by the muscles creating a high demand for ATP. The
phosphagen system (ATP CP system) is the quickest way to resynthesize ATP, Robergs Roberts 1997.
Creatine phosphate (CP), which is stored in the skeletal muscles, donates a phosphate to ADP to
produce ATP. No fat or carbohydrate or fat is used in this process, and the regeneration of ATP comes
solely from stored CP. This process does not need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2000. Very little energy is produced through this pathway, but the energy is gained very quickly. Once
pyruvate is formed, it has two fates: conversion to lactate or conversion into metabolic intermediary
molecule called acetyl co enzyme A (acetyl CoA), and this enters the mitochondria for oxidation and
the production of more ATP, Robergs Roberts 1997. Conversion to lactate occurs when the demand for
oxygen is greater than the supply, so for example during anaerobic exercise. Conversely, when there is
enough oxygen available to meet the muscles needs, pyruvate, via the acetyl CoA) enters the
mitochondria and goes through the aerobic metabolism.
When oxygen is not supplied fast enough to meet the muscles needs (anaerobic glycolysis), there is an
increase in hydrogen ions, this causes the muscle pH to decrease; a condition called acidosis, and
other metabolites ADP, P and potassium ions. Acidosis and the accumulation of these other
metabolites cause a number of problems inside the muscles, including inhibition of specific enzymes
involved in metabolism and muscle contraction, inhibition of the release of calcium, this is the trigger
for muscle contraction, from its storage in muscles, and interference with the muscles electrical
charges, Enoka Stuart 1992; Glaister 2005; McLester 1997. As a result of these changes, muscles lose

The Four Types Of Organic Molecules
An organic molecule is a molecule that must have Carbon and Hydrogen. They are important because
they act as a backbone for all living matter. Without Carbon and Hydrogen, life would not exist. A
monomer is one subunit or building block of a larger molecule. The four types of organic molecules
are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
Carbohydrates have two functions which is, provides short term energy and structure in some
organisms. They have an atomic makeup of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, with a 2:1 ratio of
Hydrogen to Oxygen. The monomer is a monosaccharide which contains a single sugar. A couple
examples of this would be glucose, fructose, and deoxyribose which is found in DNA. Yet, foods with
this monomer in it would be mostly fruits, candy, and soda. Carbohydrates also have a polysaccharide
which is a polymer made of many monosaccharides strung together. Some examples of these are
starch, glycogen, cellulose, and chitin. A starch is storage from glucose in plants(potatoes, pasta,
waffles, and toast). Glycogen is storage from glucose in animals. Cellous is structure in plants (cell
wall). Chitin is structure in animals (exoskeleton). Proteins have two main functions as well, but
which is, build a cell or body structure and control all cell and body functions. Examples of cell or
body structure is hair, muscle, bone, tendons, and skin. Examples of proteins controlling cell and body
functions are motion, support, metabolism, transport, defence, and

Lymph node number in postoperative total mesorectal excision specimen
Abdrabou N Mashhour
Cairo University, Faculty of medicine, General surgery department
Abstract:
Background: proper rectal cancer staging is a vital step in management and prognosis of the disease
depending on the tumour, nodal state and distant metastasis (TNM). Sufficient number of lymph nodes
detected in postoperative TME specimen is a corner stone in staging. Lymph node number detected
should not be less than 12 lymph nodes.
Material and methods: 37 Egyptian patients diagnosed with rectal carcinoma were included in this
retrospective study. 28 patients received neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy while the remaining 9
cases did not. Total mesorectal excision was done by the same colorectal surgeon. The specimens of
TME were examined to retrieve the lymph nodes. Results: lymph nodes harvested in the neoadjuvant
group, maximum number was 23, minimum number was 1 while the median was 7. In the group
which did not receive neoadjuvant therapy the maximum number was 34, minimum number was 11
while the median was 11. The P value was statistical significant less than 0.000.
Conclusion: lymph nodes number detected in TME specimen post neoadjuvant rectal cancer decreased
markedly so it is not the standard number of LN (12). A new staging system should be developed for
the prognosis.
Key words: Rectal carcinoma, neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, lymph nodes and total mesorectal

Essay about Salome and Cupid
The paintings Salome with the Head of St. John the Baptist, by Guido Reni and Cupid Chastised, by
Bartolomeo Manfredi are both 17th century visual representations of a story. The story behind Salome
is the interesting biblical story of the beheading of St. John the Baptist, as it s title suggests. The story
goes that Salome performed a dance for the king and his guests. Herod Antipas saw Salome s dance
and was so impressed, and drunk, that he promised to give her whatever she asked of him. After
consulting her mother, Salome asks Herod for the head of John the Baptist. Herod delivered on his
promise, and had the head of John the Baptist delivered to her on a platter, as she asked. Reni s
painting depicts a contented Salome being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cool green and grays that surrounds Salome can symbolize her cool, calm, staid disposition, and
almost blasé attitude in light of what is before her, the head of a dead man. The two women in the
back left of the plane are wearing more vibrant colors but are muted by a shadow. Salome is the focal
point of the piece, therefore receiving more light and wearing brighter colors than the other figures in
the painting. She and the head of John the Baptist are the only figures that are not crossed by a
pronounced shadow, both are illuminated by the light that extends from the right of the composition.
This value construction puts emphasis on the two main characters, the figures that hold the most
narrative weight.
Goldish yellow, pink and white are the colors of Salome s dress. The yellow in Salome s dress can be
taken as a reflection of her confident and satisfied posture and facial expression. Pink can symbolize
femininity or sexuality, a major factor behind the events of the story. For it was Salome s display of
these qualities, in her dance, that moved Herod so much as to grant her any request. These vibrant
colors also provide contrast to the cool background, with pink (a tint or red) serving as a contrast to
green, further emphasizing the protagonist woman and relating to the viewer her significance in the
story behind the depiction. Similarly, in Cupid Chastised vibrant foreground colors contrast a neutral
background. Mars fiery red garment stands

Medical Association and the Academy of Pediatrics have concluded that there is a cause and effect
relationship amongst those exposed. However, such studies does not demonstrate that media violence
causes aggressive behavior, only that the two phenomena exist together (207). This finding was used
to make the assumption that it would likely be the case with video games.
Other factors that seem to be heavily weighted but are dismissed when figuring out the motive and
psyche of these individuals committing these acts are the shooter s social rejection, feelings of
alienation at school, and depression, all were treated mostly as minor factors compared to video games
(206). Bullying and mental illnesses should be factored into this equation as well. There has been
numerous cases on the psychological effects that bullying has on a person, most perpetrators were in
fact victimized in school prior to the acts of violence. It s no surprise that the shooters identified were
teens since these seem to be the most trying times for adolescents dealing with high school and

Essay on De Tocqueville
Alexis De Tocqueville, Democracy in America
Aristocracy is a phenomenon that is perhaps as natural a summer crop, and as devastating as the
locusts that eat it. De Tocqueville amp;#8217;s position on aristocracy is quite clear. He is a strong
advocate of the aristocracy, it is a part of the natural order and necessary. His position may have some
basis, however I have yet to see the amp;#8220;upside ; of a caste system or a good defense of it.
De Tocqueville believes that aristocracy provides stability and fellowship. De Tocqueville
amp;#8217;s support of aristocracy is weak and ill founded. His first point of aristocracy is that of
stability, amp;#8220;Among aristocratic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A community bound by social class is often referred to as a slaving society. The people at the bottom
of this system are indebted to those above with nowhere else to turn. The man who is bound to another
of a higher class is most likely to be exploited, for in an aristocratic society one has only the
aristocrats to turn to for justice. Unfortunately, a man needs justice most when he is mistreated by the
aristocracy.
The aristocracy is amp;#8220;closely attached to something placed out of their own sphere, ; is
another idea that De Tocqueville had of the aristocracy. In reality, the aristocracy probably had very
little to do with anything outside of their amp;#8220;sphere ;. He also claims that amp;#8220;they are
often disposed to forget themselves. ;. If aristocrats thought about anything besides themselves, then
perhaps they would have eased some of the suffering in the world. They could not know or care about
anything that was not in their immediate world. It is unlikely that they would be so out of their
amp;#8220;sphere ; that they could have possibly known the poor man amp;#8217;s plight, or have
cared. It does not hurt the aristocrat if families live on the street.

Reflection About Sports
My life has consisted of many sports. Sports has been a part of my life for a while now every since I
can remember. The sports I played throughout the years has been baseball, football, soccer, and I ran
track. Throughout the years I played these sports has been some challenging times and injuries that
have happened to me.
Injuries and challenges always have an impact on a athletes abilities and there physical and mental
wanting to keep on playing. One challenge I had playing some of these sports is the coaches. Some
coaches you have through your high school or athletic career will help you and assist you. One coach I
had for track was the total opposite of that, instead of helping us, all she would do is criticize
everything that a person would do wrong and ignore the team if they had questions. She wouldn t help
us resolve our problem and I found that as a challenge for me because if I needed help on some tips
for running, she would not help. How I responded to this situation is by talking to her about the ways
she coaches. She didn t respond very well to what I had to say but at least I stood up and said
something. She learned that I didn t like how she was coaching and that s how I resolved my situation
with her. Many individuals tend to become uninterested, uncommitted, and unmotivated for many
reasons. The reasons they have could be resolved very easily. Some of the reasons I have heard
throughout the years is that the training is too hard. Training is supposed to be hard, you aren t going
to be the best unless you train hard. Another complaint I have heard is that the coaches are mean.
Some coaches are mean and some coaches are mean for a reason. Some coaches that is the only way
they know. Pushing athletes to the wall has been a coaching thought for many years and most coaches
I had, went by that mindset. The last reason I think people become uninterested in sports or physical
activity is that there not getting any results. The fact of the matter is; it is not just working out that s
going to get you the results. There are many factors that go into progressing and getting that result you
want. Your diet has a lot to do with getting that result so you got to make sure you are eating right.

Queen Elizabeth I And Anne Boleyn
I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and
of a king of England too. Queen Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth I was the daughter of king Henry VIII
and Anne Boleyn. She would later become the 5th ruler in the Tudor dynasty. After her half sister
Mary s rule she was hailed a hero and known for saving England through one of its toughest periods.
Even more impressive she ruled alone with no king. Queen Elizabeth was one of the best rulers in
European history, she overcame a lifetime of difficulty and was well liked among her people.
On September 7th 1533 Queen Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII welcomed their baby, the future
Queen Elizabeth I into the world, the king and queen were very disappointed that Elizabeth was a girl.
All the calibrations they had planned were almost immediately canceled. It was almost as of they were
shamed to have birthed a girl. Due to her father King Henry VIII and her mother Queen Anne Boleyn
s questionable marriage and the timing of her birth many questioned if she was actually King Henry
VIII s daughter. Even if she really was however many consider her to be a child of adultery (Doran 8).
The controversy of Elizabeth s legitimacy and Henry and Anne s marriages put a strain on the family.
Henry believed that his marriage to Katharine was invalid from the beginning due to her previous
marriage to Henry s elder brother Arthur. This convinced some of Elizabeth s legitimacy. Since King
Henry VIII had still not had a male heir and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Elizabeth s life was plagued with many great difficulties but none of them slowed her down. She grew

at Apple, The Beatles s headquarters. Richard Nixon is elected and from that year on, they would play
more than a hundred shows a year for the next several years

A Window into Thinking During The Gilded Age in the Book...
In the latter chapters, Julian gains a love interest. He falls in love with Edith Leete, the daughter, who
turns out to be Edith Bartlet s great granddaughter. Edith Bartlet was his former fiancèe. In the 19th
century, anarchism was a growing movement that scared many people including Julian. Dr. Leete
describes how it was in fact the wealthiest who funded them, so people would be afraid of reform.
However, this was not enough because social change was not instigated by labor or political parties
but by the vow by mankind to persevere and conquer the old order and usher in the new. Mr. Bellamy
contrasts the anarchist and socialist movements in order posit the latter in a more favorable light. An

all the horrors and atrocities in the newspaper and that night goes to Ms. Bartlet s parent s house for
dinner. By trying to convince the wealthy folks at the table of the awfulness of today s poor and how it
could be so much better, he only distresses them, and he is kicked out. In this dream, he loses all hope

technology and industry took place during the time period. The transcontinental railroad was built, the
steel industry was expanded, and oil took off. These developments allowed for the US to experience
an industrial revolution, but not all was well. Most of the wealth generated during this time
concentrated itself into the hands a of a select few who were able to weasel their way to the top of
their industry. One example is John D. Rockefeller, who with wealth adjusted for inflation, amassed a
fortune of around $700 billion. The way the these men obtained their wealth was an issue for many

Vitamin C Essay
A question that is commonly asked when receiving a virus is, what is the fastest way to get rid of it?
No human enjoys the presence of a common cold, despite more extreme terms such as the flu. Rest
and fluids are typically the first reaction to curing a common cold. Then, medicine that is categorized
toward the symptoms is received. Although, how do you speed up the process? Many think that the
intake of large doses of vitamin c can speed up or potentially get rid of the cold all together.
Vitamin C is very essential to our bodies. Vitamin C helps the body to maintain its collective tissues.
This also includes our bones, blood vessels, and skin. Vitamin C is scientifically known as L ascorbic
acid. The vitamin is a water soluble vitamin that can be found in several fruits and vegetables. Vitamin
C can also be found as a dietary supplement. It is essential for our bodies to have some source of
vitamin C intake. Vitamin C is required for the biosynthesis of collagen, L carnitine, and certain
neurotransmitters; vitamin C is also involved in protein metabolism. Collagen is an essential
component of connective tissue, which plays a vital role in wound healing. Vitamin C is also an
important physiological antioxidant [3] and has been shown to regenerate other antioxidants within the
body, including alpha tocopherol (vitamin E). (1) The overall body intake for vitamin C runs to a high
of 2g. Lower amounts of vitamin C can be found in areas such as eyes, pituitary gland, and

Definitions Of Family In Kurdistan
Family in Kurdistan In this essay, I will be exploring an essential word that can be understood or
elucidated in various ways based on three perceptions, which is Family. The word family is defined as
a group consisting of one or two parents, their children and close relations according to Oxford
dictionary. However, the word family is described differently bases on the people s educational level
in Kurdistan. Firstly, among the educated or modernized members of the community family is defined
as the source in which they gain their respect and pride. Moreover, this class of the community is
either less or not patriarchal, and all of the family members have the same rights without exceptions.
On the other hand, while the majority of Kurdistan s population has a low educational background,
therefore the uneducated portion of our society defines family as several relatives in a house that is
mostly led by a male, and moral values are considered to be related to females. In contrast to all, I
believe that family does not relate only to blood relatives or living things. Instead, family can relate to
the people and things that get along and are based on each other, therefore, one loses its value in the
absence of the other. Hence, in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a person, who grows within this complex culture, but studies with foreign people and interested in
social relations; I think family is not merely about blood relatives or living things. Instead, family can
represent the people and things that get along and are based on each other as one loses its value in the
absence of the other either it would be mentally or realistically. To illustrate, within the human
societies two people can be called a family when one of them could not do anything without the other
s help or performance. However, same thing applies to the non living things, such as pen and paper.
The value of pen would be lost if there was no

Essay about Mentoring
Managing People Individual Assessment
Managing Mentoring
With the development of the more organic and less formal organisational structures the role of
mentors has shifted with these changes. Unlike previously where mentors where seen as formal
trainers who taught newcomers the processes and got them acquainted with the cultures and the
systems within the organisation. Which required good interpersonal skills and a good knowledge of
the activity or tasks the mentee would have to undertake, and be able to effectively relay or
demonstrate the tasks or activities to the mentee. As opposed to more recently where a mentor would
have to be more of an emotional counselor and demonstrate more skills than were traditionally
required from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accompanied with the current shift towards more organic organisation structures and more emphasis
on the learning organisation, mentoring provides a more all round experience to the mentees by
getting them confident with their role with the organisation. It also improves communication
throughout the organisation by allowing mentees to give feedback and learn in a not so formal fashion
which helps people feel more relaxed and develops the formal and informal culture of the
organisation.
From the organisations standpoint mentoring is a cost effective way of training and developing new
staff, and it helps retain existing staff by giving them more responsibility. It is argued that with the
underlying causes behind facilitated mentoring lying in cost effectiveness, does this underlying tenet
prevent a real chemistry existing between the mentor and the mentee.
This is not necessarily the case in all organisations, the Metropolitan police force (a non profit
organisation) have recognised the need for mentoring and have incorporated it both internally and
externally to assist them in their day to day work. The Metropolitan Police have started a mentoring
scheme for young ethnic officers by pairing them with a mentor from the same background, to help
them get prepared for the job and also to act as counselors and to deal with any reservations they may
have about joining the force. This type of mentoring scheme is based more around relationship
forming and

  • 2. Competition Between Groups Over Land And Basic Resources As long as humans have been alive and able to communicate, there has been competition between groups. While this may have begun with competition over land and basic resources, competition between groups has developed into a complex social structure. After some time, one group comes out on top. This dominant group then has a self validated foundation of which to build discriminatory acts. The dominant group has one or more desirable traits or resources that the minority group does not have, so this dominant group believes itself to be superior to the minority group. This structure of competition has led to hate, discrimination, and violence between groups. Group competition did not end over a battle over resources and land. Groups have found more ambiguous ways to identify themselves as superior. Disagreements between groups over values, religious beliefs, and traditions have led to discrimination, violence, war, and genocide. Romans killed Christians because Romans believed Christians were religious fanatics. Sunnis and Shi ites have fought since Muhammad s death over who they believed was the rightful predecessor. German Nazis annihilated six million Jews because Nazis believed that Jewish people were inferior and led to Germany s decline in the 20th century. And to this day, dominant groups continue to discriminate against minority groups. This has been the way our world has functioned for centuries. The dominant group takes whatever means necessary to remain at the top, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Descriptive Essay About Stress Memoir Assignment Utter bewilderment fills those curious about the past, but the ones who make an attempt to relate it to the future; are the ones who possess a blessing, yet a curse. Those who wonder about the future have all experienced one thing; stress. Stress is present in all life, including mine, but the feeling is much more potent in some than others. It is taken upon my soul to hate when others make assumptions about my personal stress, without knowing the cause... which has occurred from the time I stepped on this planet. Personally speaking, stress is not present in my life for the reasons many might think, such as school and homework. The ones who assume those things about myself have only etched my bare surface. Lost in my thoughts, I slammed the door behind me, as I exited my home and waved over to my friend who stood in my driveway; patiently waiting with his loving german shepherd. I skipped along the yellow brick pathway: laid by the previous owners, and then onto the main street, accompanied by my friend or otherwise known as the boy next door. His grandmother lives across the street from me in a luxurious, stone home, concealed in pine trees, as he then visits me when he is at his grandfather s. The regular street is surrounded by expensive homes with impeccable gardening. My favorite of which is a house with an intricate fountain in the middle of the driveway, as it reminds me of a past neighbor I had that I was quite fond of. I have grown quite ... • 5. Great Philosophers For this assignment, I chose the following three ethical philosophers: Confucius, Immanuel Kant, and Paulo Freire. Each of these ethicists differs in the way they resolved ethical dilemmas and the assignment will focus on how each ethicists would respond to a certain situation. Confucius reasoning is that all human are good; however, when face with an ethical dilemma, there is an inequality between what is good and bad. I believe that the response from Confucius it would not be acceptable to steal food to feed a starving child. The reason why I believe this is because Confucius was a virtue ethicist and believed in loyalty, which is respect for the law and stealing, is not showing respect for the law (Great Philosophers, n.d.). I believe that Confucius would go to the store and ask the store manager and tell him the situation about starving child. One of Confucius central virtues is honest, which is respect for the truth. Telling the store manager the truth is not only respecting the store but also respecting you (Great Philosophers, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next ethicist is Kant; whose reasoning I believe is that everything that is was illegal and morally wrong is unacceptable. If we look at the situation regarding the stealing of food for a starving child, I believe that Kant would response favorable to someone stealing food for a starving child. According to Kantian ethics, we have a perfect to others not to steal; however, we also have imperfect duty to assists others in need (Kantian Ethic, n.d.). Kantian Ethics is also based on the face that a person is good or bad and what is their motivation of their actions and not the goodness of their action (Kantian Ethics, ... • 6. Comparing The Cask Of Amontillado And Rhine Boat Trip Death is a terrifying, but necessary, confrontation for many. According to ecology.com, over 55 million people die each year, which is half the rate of births that occur a year. Shockingly, almost 900 thousand of those deaths are due to homicide. Flashing back to 1942, 60 million Jews, Gypsies, Poles, soldiers, and citizens were murdered before death could take them naturally. At that time that was 3 percent of the world s population. Seen in The Cask of Amontillado and Rhine Boat Trip , this type of ruthless murder is portrayed and causes a tainted view of humanity. The Cask of Amontillado and Rhine Boat Trip are similar and different in many ways including their theme, mood, and setting. The theme of both The Cask of Amontillado and Rhine Boat Trip is death, specifically murder. In both stories, the murder was intentional and planned out. The Cask of Amontillado depicts Montresor taking revenge on Fortunato by luring him down to a wine cellar and trapping him by building brick wall; Fortunato was left to die by ... The attitudes of the background characters, the landscape, and the habits of the main characters are very similar because they are in central Europe. Most of Europe s concern seems to be with beauty. In Italy, Montresor and Fortunato both are appreciators of fine wine, something that is often taken as a joke in America. In Germany, the focus is mostly on the beauty of nature. Rhine Boat Trip is labeled so because the Rhine is associated with Germany, it is what Germany is known for. The beauty of the river is what attracts so many visitors. The difference between Italy and Germany is that Germany is now so closely associated with the Holocaust that it is harder to appreciate the beauty found there. • 7. Animal Persuasive Speech Hiding behind a big boulder in the hot and sunny Africa is a man holding a shotgun, he spots the large male lion that he has been tracking for two whole weeks, he aims and you hear the gun sounding and the male lion falls to the ground. All the man wanted was to say that that was the was the lion he killed. As of being a kid, I have more of an imagination which makes me think more and want to come up with ways to help solve problems and figure out how they affect us. As well, I like animals a lot, so if the animals that are endangered are or have been being killed I am or would like to have a say or help stop it. When I was researching my topic, I had been finding the perfect articles and videos to get important and correct information. How many animals die each year. Do they have any laws or anyone to stop the animal poaching? This was my driving question: How can I convince people to help stop others from killing the animals for no reason? Once I finished my research, I understood that in some way it is possible to help stop animal poaching. One of the biggest problems going on right now is that illegal hunters are killing endangered animals just because of their skin or just as a trophy hunt. It may not seem like it more and more animals are becoming close to being endangered to almost extinct. This is happening all because of one thing that makes a chain of events, that is just killing the animals. The problems that it causes is lack of food, extinction, and lack in reproducing. The reasons that those are problems is because the lack of food means that the animals in the food chain that die that are supposed to be food for other animals are dying and can t feed the other animals, and they die from starvation and it will eventually destroy the whole food chain. With the food part being said the animals have less and less reproduced because males are dying and it is not possible, with this cause is less and fewer offsprings each year. As well, both these problems lead to one exact thing, extinction. I think that the world should try and help stop this because it is a serious problem and it is illegal. As well, with no animals, the world is not complete and all the things that the animals do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a difference between panic disorder and fear, the body will respond naturally whether it wants to or not. This also affects the blood pressure and will cause it to change. One of the most common fears is arachnophobia. This is the fear of spiders. Multiple humans are afraid of them because they are small and silent. • 9. Marmee s Role In Little Women, By Louisa May Alcott Mrs. March, Marmee, gives a supporting and managing effect as the girls strive to defeat their apparent character mistakes. Louisa May Alcott depicts Marmee as a committed mother who considers the importance of her responsibility to compose her children s characters and to ensure that they develop into helpful, beneficial and cheerful women. In spite of Marmee s pedantic view in her communications with her children, she is nevertheless a model of motherhood. Whereas she is not a primary character in the novel, Little Women, the mother plays a very important part both in the construction of the events and as the directing impact, by her activities and her expressions, in her little girls improvement from childhood into adolescence. She chose common images that everyone would understand, and she wrapped her story around them, and in this way she was able to teach the people . . . The traditions of storytelling have long been used as a means to impart wisdom and life lessons to others. One of the most effective ways in which this is done is through the use of archetypes. While it is possible to look at these images in a general way, one may also focus an analysis on a single tale. In this way it is possible to explore the particular images used and their significance in a given situation, (often a coming of age rite of passage). One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She attempts to control Rapunzel and keep her from reaching maturity, and thus independence. The moment Rapunzel reaches the age of puberty, (at age 12), the witch confines her to a tower in the forest. The forest is a symbol of transformation, a place where Rapunzel must discover her growing maturity. The tower may be similar to the idea of the attic: a metaphor for the mind and some part of her life yet to be explored, as well as being a phallic symbol. It has no doors or stairs, only a single high window. The window is her only entryway to begin her rite of passage, but at this point in her life she has no means to access it on her own. Once another few years have passed, (placing Rapunzel s age now at that of a young woman), the prince is introduced. He is a symbol of a possible reward for Rapunzel should she successfully complete her journey, a vague ideal represented in royalty for which to strive. However, he is also just a young man who must complete his own rite of passage before he and Rapunzel may be united. The fact that he is first drawn to her voice rather than her appearance seems to suggest an attraction more to who she is rather than anything physical. Her voice may be symbolic of Rapunzel s thoughts and personality. However, the first time the prince finds Rapunzel, he is obviously unprepared to proceed into this facet of his life. • 11. Society s Demographic Transition Demographic Transition To begin with a demographic transition is basically the changes that occur within a society s population whereby these are changes from high levels of crude birth and death rates with a low rate of natural increase to lower levels of crude death and birth rates yet still having a low rate of natural increase and having a higher total population, and all of these changes that occurs goes back to either developments in economy or changes in standard of living. Whereas stage two it s a stage of high growth which means there is a rapid decline in death rate yet having a rapid growth in the population, therefore having a high natural increase, this is mainly because of improvements in medicine or access to cleaner and healthier life. Usually, countries that experience an improvement in their standard of living for example because of industrial revolutions they tend to enter such a stage, such countries that entered this stage were North America and Europe. Then comes the third stage is known as the stage of decreasing growth whereby BR declines while DR stays declining and according to () NIR begins to moderate. In this stage, there still is growth though slower than stage two a society enters this stage when people decide to have fewer children which goes back to access to contraception and a better economic condition. • 12. King Asok Not More Than A Myth Essay For a long time, King Asoka was thought to be nothing more than a myth. With several writings concerning him, they all relayed too fantastical an image to be convincing as truthful, keeping him in a legendary status. This all changed in 1837, well over a thousand years after his death, when a scholar James Prinsep managed to translate writings on a stone pillar in Delhi. After several other scholars raced to translate similar writings all over the Indian landscape, it was revealed that this King Piyadasi was the same as King Asoka. Even with his history pieced together, Asoka s history is still legendary. He started as a lowly person shunned by his own father and grew to be a ruler of a kingdom that had never seen complete unity. But indeed, despite the face of caring compassion he attempted to convey to the Indian people, and despite the reforms he made to various sectors of his kingdom, it is clear Asoka was only using Buddhism as a way to unite the people and, more importantly, keep them under his control. It is rumored that Asoka s grandmother was a Greek princess, with his lineage being traced back to the Seleucus kingship, and that his Asoka s grandmother would have told him stories of Alexander the Great and other Greek warriors, inspiring Asoka and gearing him towards being the warrior he would become in the Kalinga Wars. Asoka s mother is supposed to be the daughter of a Brahman, a Hindu priest. She eventually married the King of India, one of the first of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She wanted to inform them of the zombies breaching the creek, and to help gather the children because it looked imperative that they would be leaving the school immediately. Steaks and Lovienthal set off for the bus garage to get Albert. They both hoped that he, Johnny, and the McAllisters had made it farther along in their fortification of a couple of buses than what the time had allotted them to work. When Mary found Laura she was in the teachers lounge with Sarah and Pamela playing a board game. Mary quickly and frantically told them what had happened. A wave of panic than set over Laura leaving her speechless and visibly shaking. Pamela stepped up and told her to take Sarah and go with Mary to the gymnasium to retrieve her sons and the other children. After that they should meet back at the cafeteria where she would be with James packing up supplies. Laura still stood frozen and Pamela had to snap at her yelling, Go now! in order to get her to break out of her coma like state. Laura then grabbed her daughter by her arm, and together with Mary they ran for the gym. As soon as Pamela left the teachers lounge she ran into Blake and Mitch. • 15. Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a person s intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people committing this moral crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for their own personal pleasure rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an aggressive tone when describing the abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion when portraying intellect as a way the only way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to convince his readers that intellect should be used solely for the purpose of increasing knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing argument about learning for your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers with the overuse of intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual just for the sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as opinions, not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that results in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual s private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your private life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another example is when Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to make the effort and fail to do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this statement is true. He later lists the activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never demonstrates an example of failure to use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his claims discredits his argument. Throughout his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can make it hard for his audience to read. Words he uses like lethargy and torpor take away from the purpose of his article. Adler is trying to convince his audience to seek knowledge for enjoyment, but his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Air Travel Literature Review Demand for air travel is embarking on a period of unprecedented growth with expectations that by 2030 the number of commercial planes around the world will nearly double to 47,000 (John Mandyck, 2017). This literature review will outline the growth of aviation and current issues surrounding the growth of Air Travel combined with its scope to be sustainable. Topics such as green technology, public awareness and behaviour are the focus of this review. The meaning of sustainability is varied and highly contested as a specific definition, however for this review it will referred to as Avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance (Oxford Dictionary). Increased demand in tourism and trade particularly makes air travel less sustainable as the environmental externalities that already exist are exacerbated. Increased demand for air travel without innovation into sustainable technology means continued damaging effects to the environment. Air travel is an increasingly popular phenomena and air transport volume is now five times as large as it was in 1970 (Journal of Sustainable Tourism, 2009). This statistic is useful in that it creates an overall idea air travel is increasing, but its meaning is too ambiguous for proper effect. The volume of air transport could mean the number of flights per week, or the number of sold out flights etc. Although similar, each varying meaning that the reader chooses to adopt would lead to different ... It seems a suitable island that is out of the way, but it is in the centre of everything at the same time. People are very unsuspecting of it, and it was the same in World War 2 as well... The Germans and the rest of the Axis had very good reasons for wanting to control Madagascar. The first is that they were going to use this remote island as a place to deport some of the remaining 10,000 Jewish refugees still in France that had not been able to find a home in South Africa or Brazil. The French were not the only ones suffering though; the Polish and the Germans really need to get the Jews out as well. However like many of the other Nazi ideologies, it was not a new one. A lot of British, Polish and Dutch anti Semites had been considering the idea to move the Jews there since as early as 1878. Luckily for Nazis, Madagascar was under the control and within the empire of Vichy France (the part of France that had surrendered to Hitler), and according to the surrender terms, France had to let the Germans into Madagascar as well. It was going to be easy. Not only would it get rid of the Jews, but it would also help the Axis financially as the Jews were currently surviving on charity. In May 1936, there was a new French administration voted in, and there was serious talk of the Jews being moved there, and they even went as far as to investigate the island to check if it was liable for that ... Emma Watson uses her social media influence to enact change in gender equality. Mother Jones used peaceful protests, such as marching to inform more individuals on the dark secrets of child labor. And Mahatma Gandhi developed Satyagraha, the use of non violent civil disobedience to defend racial rights. These three individuals fought for various human rights in similar peaceful ways while striving to make an impact in the world around them. Emma Watson was appointed UN female ambassador and has been giving speeches and using her platform in the media to fight for an end to gender inequality since 2014. She says, I started questioning gender based assumptions when at eight I was confused at being called bossy, because I wanted to direct the plays we would put on for our parents but the boys were not . Along with many other occasions throughout her childhood Emma did not understand why she had to act a certain way just because she was born with a pink blanket and not a blue one. By combining a multitude of studies and methodologies, authors explore the aspects of the environment and nature along with human interaction to understand how they commingle, affecting one another. In the following four books and one article, scholars from varying backgrounds approach environmental history in an assortment of methods in order to prove their thesis. Their methodologies shape their thought process and lead to the structure of these books. Further investigation into this process reveals the authors intentions, enabling readers to understand how methodology fuels the writing process, creating an argument, and producing valuable work. A strong cooperation lies at the heart of Lisa M. Brady s article entitled, Has Environmental History Lost Its Way? and sets the tone for many of the following books. She reveals that in order to study environmental history training in the field is not a requirement. Rather, a conglomeration of backgrounds can provide insight into the study. Additionally, her article takes a materialistic approach, suggesting that straying too far from this idea will lead to the breakdown of this study. While this seems to be the foundation of her article, her ultimate goal is a juxtaposition between the previous approach and the idea that expanding the field is vital in creating a contemporary narrative. America decided they wanted to expand their territory across the waters. There were many approaches that were suggested by previous presidents, all with the same goal: World Dominance. The Big Stick idea was brought to light from President Theodore Roosevelt. The plan reflected many of the same impulses that were motivating domestic reforms that were taking place in America. During exercise energy comes from Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). There are 3 energy systems, these are glycolysis, phosphocreatine (ATP CP) and the aerobic system. During short term intense activities a large amount of power needs to be produced by the muscles creating a high demand for ATP. The phosphagen system (ATP CP system) is the quickest way to resynthesize ATP, Robergs Roberts 1997. Once pyruvate is formed, it has two fates: conversion to lactate or conversion into metabolic intermediary molecule called acetyl co enzyme A (acetyl CoA), and this enters the mitochondria for oxidation and the production of more ATP, Robergs Roberts 1997. Conversion to lactate occurs when the demand for oxygen is greater than the supply, so for example during anaerobic exercise. Conversely, when there is enough oxygen available to meet the muscles needs, pyruvate, via the acetyl CoA) enters the mitochondria and goes through the aerobic metabolism. When oxygen is not supplied fast enough to meet the muscles needs (anaerobic glycolysis), there is an increase in hydrogen ions, this causes the muscle pH to decrease; a condition called acidosis, and other metabolites ADP, P and potassium ions. Acidosis and the accumulation of these other metabolites cause a number of problems inside the muscles, including inhibition of specific enzymes involved in metabolism and muscle contraction, inhibition of the release of calcium, this is the trigger for muscle contraction, from its storage in muscles, and interference with the muscles electrical charges, Enoka Stuart 1992; Glaister 2005; McLester 1997. They have an atomic makeup of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, with a 2:1 ratio of Hydrogen to Oxygen. The monomer is a monosaccharide which contains a single sugar. A couple examples of this would be glucose, fructose, and deoxyribose which is found in DNA. Yet, foods with this monomer in it would be mostly fruits, candy, and soda. Carbohydrates also have a polysaccharide which is a polymer made of many monosaccharides strung together. Some examples of these are starch, glycogen, cellulose, and chitin. A starch is storage from glucose in plants(potatoes, pasta, waffles, and toast). Glycogen is storage from glucose in animals. Cellous is structure in plants (cell wall). Chitin is structure in animals (exoskeleton). Proteins have two main functions as well, but which is, build a cell or body structure and control all cell and body functions. Examples of cell or body structure is hair, muscle, bone, tendons, and skin. Examples of proteins controlling cell and body functions are motion, support, metabolism, transport, defence, and ... Lymph node number in postoperative total mesorectal excision specimen Abdrabou N Mashhour Cairo University, Faculty of medicine, General surgery department Abstract: Background: proper rectal cancer staging is a vital step in management and prognosis of the disease depending on the tumour, nodal state and distant metastasis (TNM). Sufficient number of lymph nodes detected in postoperative TME specimen is a corner stone in staging. Lymph node number detected should not be less than 12 lymph nodes. Material and methods: 37 Egyptian patients diagnosed with rectal carcinoma were included in this retrospective study. 28 patients received neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy while the remaining 9 cases did not. Total mesorectal excision was done by the same colorectal surgeon. The specimens of TME were examined to retrieve the lymph nodes. Results: lymph nodes harvested in the neoadjuvant group, maximum number was 23, minimum number was 1 while the median was 7. In the group which did not receive neoadjuvant therapy the maximum number was 34, minimum number was 11 while the median was 11. The P value was statistical significant less than 0.000. Conclusion: lymph nodes number detected in TME specimen post neoadjuvant rectal cancer decreased markedly so it is not the standard number of LN (12). A new staging system should be developed for the prognosis. Key words: Rectal carcinoma, neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, lymph nodes and total mesorectal excision. Introduction: ... • 41. Essay about Salome and Cupid The paintings Salome with the Head of St. John the Baptist, by Guido Reni and Cupid Chastised, by Bartolomeo Manfredi are both 17th century visual representations of a story. The story behind Salome is the interesting biblical story of the beheading of St. John the Baptist, as it s title suggests. The story goes that Salome performed a dance for the king and his guests. Herod Antipas saw Salome s dance and was so impressed, and drunk, that he promised to give her whatever she asked of him. After consulting her mother, Salome asks Herod for the head of John the Baptist. Herod delivered on his promise, and had the head of John the Baptist delivered to her on a platter, as she asked. Reni s painting depicts a contented Salome being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cool green and grays that surrounds Salome can symbolize her cool, calm, staid disposition, and almost blasé attitude in light of what is before her, the head of a dead man. The two women in the back left of the plane are wearing more vibrant colors but are muted by a shadow. Salome is the focal point of the piece, therefore receiving more light and wearing brighter colors than the other figures in the painting. She and the head of John the Baptist are the only figures that are not crossed by a pronounced shadow, both are illuminated by the light that extends from the right of the composition. This value construction puts emphasis on the two main characters, the figures that hold the most narrative weight. Goldish yellow, pink and white are the colors of Salome s dress. The yellow in Salome s dress can be taken as a reflection of her confident and satisfied posture and facial expression. Pink can symbolize femininity or sexuality, a major factor behind the events of the story. For it was Salome s display of these qualities, in her dance, that moved Herod so much as to grant her any request. These vibrant colors also provide contrast to the cool background, with pink (a tint or red) serving as a contrast to green, further emphasizing the protagonist woman and relating to the viewer her significance in the story behind the depiction. Similarly, in Cupid Chastised vibrant foreground colors contrast a neutral background. Mars fiery red garment stands ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Violence and America s Troubled Youth Essays Video games have come a long way since the days of Pong. Advances in technology have allowed games to present state of the art graphics and surreal like qualities to its consumers; from four star simulated battle scenes to enhanced real live fire shoot outs. With all these innovations added to violent video games it attracted the visual needs of our teenage youth. Although video game violence has been blamed for high profile school shootings, video games and its creators should not be held accountable for these tragedies because there is not enough credible evidence to absolutely link video games to outburst of violence amongst juveniles. Video games have made a killing in the world of entertainment, it is a multibillion dollar industry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could be opening the doors to a plethora of other cases and assumptions that can lead to our youth potentially becoming killers. Research was conducted on the exposure of television violence and its effects on kids, organizations like the American Psychological Association, the American Medical Association and the Academy of Pediatrics have concluded that there is a cause and effect relationship amongst those exposed. However, such studies does not demonstrate that media violence causes aggressive behavior, only that the two phenomena exist together (207). This finding was used to make the assumption that it would likely be the case with video games. Other factors that seem to be heavily weighted but are dismissed when figuring out the motive and psyche of these individuals committing these acts are the shooter s social rejection, feelings of alienation at school, and depression, all were treated mostly as minor factors compared to video games (206). Bullying and mental illnesses should be factored into this equation as well. There has been numerous cases on the psychological effects that bullying has on a person, most perpetrators were in fact victimized in school prior to the acts of violence. It s no surprise that the shooters identified were teens since these seem to be the most trying times for adolescents dealing with high school and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His position may have some basis, however I have yet to see the amp;#8220;upside ; of a caste system or a good defense of it. Unfortunately, a man needs justice most when he is mistreated by the aristocracy. • 44. Reflection About Sports My life has consisted of many sports. Sports has been a part of my life for a while now every since I can remember. The sports I played throughout the years has been baseball, football, soccer, and I ran track. Throughout the years I played these sports has been some challenging times and injuries that have happened to me. Injuries and challenges always have an impact on a athletes abilities and there physical and mental wanting to keep on playing. One challenge I had playing some of these sports is the coaches. Some coaches you have through your high school or athletic career will help you and assist you. One coach I had for track was the total opposite of that, instead of helping us, all she would do is criticize everything that a person would do wrong and ignore the team if they had questions. She wouldn t help us resolve our problem and I found that as a challenge for me because if I needed help on some tips for running, she would not help. How I responded to this situation is by talking to her about the ways she coaches. She didn t respond very well to what I had to say but at least I stood up and said something. She learned that I didn t like how she was coaching and that s how I resolved my situation with her. Many individuals tend to become uninterested, uncommitted, and unmotivated for many reasons. The reasons they have could be resolved very easily. Some of the reasons I have heard throughout the years is that the training is too hard. Training is supposed to be hard, you aren t going to be the best unless you train hard. Another complaint I have heard is that the coaches are mean. Some coaches are mean and some coaches are mean for a reason. Some coaches that is the only way they know. Pushing athletes to the wall has been a coaching thought for many years and most coaches I had, went by that mindset. The last reason I think people become uninterested in sports or physical activity is that there not getting any results. The fact of the matter is; it is not just working out that s going to get you the results. There are many factors that go into progressing and getting that result you want. Your diet has a lot to do with getting that result so you got to make sure you are eating right. Ways that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After her half sister Mary s rule she was hailed a hero and known for saving England through one of its toughest periods. Even more impressive she ruled alone with no king. Queen Elizabeth was one of the best rulers in European history, she overcame a lifetime of difficulty and was well liked among her people. All the calibrations they had planned were almost immediately canceled. It was almost as of they were shamed to have birthed a girl. Due to her father King Henry VIII and her mother Queen Anne Boleyn s questionable marriage and the timing of her birth many questioned if she was actually King Henry VIII s daughter. Even if she really was however many consider her to be a child of adultery (Doran 8). The controversy of Elizabeth s legitimacy and Henry and Anne s marriages put a strain on the family. In the 19th century, anarchism was a growing movement that scared many people including Julian. Dr. Leete describes how it was in fact the wealthiest who funded them, so people would be afraid of reform. However, this was not enough because social change was not instigated by labor or political parties but by the vow by mankind to persevere and conquer the old order and usher in the new. • 49. Definitions Of Family In Kurdistan Family in Kurdistan In this essay, I will be exploring an essential word that can be understood or elucidated in various ways based on three perceptions, which is Family. The word family is defined as a group consisting of one or two parents, their children and close relations according to Oxford dictionary. However, the word family is described differently bases on the people s educational level in Kurdistan. Firstly, among the educated or modernized members of the community family is defined as the source in which they gain their respect and pride. Moreover, this class of the community is either less or not patriarchal, and all of the family members have the same rights without exceptions. On the other hand, while the majority of Kurdistan s population has a low educational background, therefore the uneducated portion of our society defines family as several relatives in a house that is mostly led by a male, and moral values are considered to be related to females. In contrast to all, I believe that family does not relate only to blood relatives or living things. Instead, family can relate to the people and things that get along and are based on each other, therefore, one loses its value in the absence of the other. Hence, in this ... Unlike previously where mentors where seen as formal trainers who taught newcomers the processes and got them acquainted with the cultures and the systems within the organisation. Which required good interpersonal skills and a good knowledge of the activity or tasks the mentee would have to undertake, and be able to effectively relay or demonstrate the tasks or activities to the mentee. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accompanied with the current shift towards more organic organisation structures and more emphasis on the learning organisation, mentoring provides a more all round experience to the mentees by getting them confident with their role with the organisation. It also improves communication throughout the organisation by allowing mentees to give feedback and learn in a not so formal fashion which helps people feel more relaxed and develops the formal and informal culture of the organisation. From the organisations standpoint mentoring is a cost effective way of training and developing new staff, and it helps retain existing staff by giving them more responsibility. It is argued that with the underlying causes behind facilitated mentoring lying in cost effectiveness, does this underlying tenet prevent a real chemistry existing between the mentor and the mentee. This is not necessarily the case in all organisations, the Metropolitan police force (a non profit organisation) have recognised the need for mentoring and have incorporated it both internally and externally to assist them in their day to day work. The Metropolitan Police have started a mentoring scheme for young ethnic officers by pairing them with a mentor from the same background, to help them get prepared for the job and also to act as counselors and to deal with any reservations they may have about joining the force.
