Ch. 12 13 DNA Protein Synthesis Project
By Anthony Li, Connor Farrell, John Koutsonikolis, and Tristan Funicelli
(Tristan) # Describe the contributions of each of the following to the discovery of the structure of
DNA 1) Watson and Crick: Used Rosalind Franklin s x rays of DNA to conclude that DNA took the
shape of a double helix. 2) Frederick Miescher: Used pus from infections to isolate nuclein. He found
that nuclein had a unique ratio of phosphorous to nitrogen. 3) Oswald Avery: Tested many strains of
bacteria and discovered that DNA carries a cell s genetic code and can be altered through
transformations. 4) Rosalind Franklin: Used x ray diffractions to take pictures of the structure of
DNA. The pictures alluded to DNA s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A/T and G/C have equal amounts in DNA. This is why they pair up.
(Tristan) # Explain the process by which DNA is able to make copies of itself also including an
explanation of why it is considered semiconservative replication There are four steps to replication
1) Unwind: Helicase splits a DNA section in half at the replication fork.
2) Unzips: DNA Polymerase breaks the hydrogen bonds and unwinds the section.
3) Copy: DNA Polymerase joins individual nucleotides with their complementary counterparts to form
a new strand of DNA. Replication runs in the 5 to 3 direction.
4) Rewind: The DNA section is zipped back up and winded up again.
DNA replication is considered semiconservative because each new strand of DNA contains only half
of the original DNA strand.
6. (Connor) Compare and Contrast the prokaryotic and eukaryotic chromies.
Prokaryotic Chromosomes
Prokaryotes typically have a single circular chromosome
Are condensed in the nucleoid via DNA supercoiling and binding of architectural
proteinsTranscription and translation occur at the same time
Most only contain a single copy of each gene
Genomes are efficient and compact with very little of the same DNA
Eukaryotic Chromosomes
Contain multiple linear chromosomes
Condensed in a nucleus with a membrane by histones

My First Car Research Paper
My first car, which is also my current car, is the best/most beautiful car I ve ever had. I have a
standard 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, and it has a nice maroon color, unfortunately with some pretty
bad sun damage. I think of it as a female and named her Misty, when I first got her she was perfect
just wished that the owner who had before didn t take off her logo from the front and back. The back
bumper is custom as well as the side skirts. After my timing belt came loose we learned that the owner
before me didn t put it on right, so after the mechanics fixed her up the front bumper was somehow
extra loose. Now we have a pretty floppy front bumper, as for other aspects of her outer beauty, she
has a nice spoiler, fogged up headlights, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than that it really doesn t have any other smell, which can also be bad because under the hot sun
my back would start sweating which gives it a temporal unpleasant smell. I will purchase some car
fresheners whenever I get the chance to. Also, I have some bizarre items inside, I ve got a plastic
garden flamingo sitting in my trunk right next to some drum heads, a bag full of paintballs with some
slingshots, and some styrofoam. Just some crazy stuff picked up on my wild adventures with friends,
most of the times we would take my car when we re out and about making some stupid fun decisions.
On the passenger side the dash for some reason is a dark blue color, not really matching with the black
and red, I do intend to do something about that soon. I really do love driving my car, putting it into
gear and just smashing in the gas is a great one. When I drove Misty for the first time, also driving
standard for the first time, It felt difficult. Kept stalling it on up hill slopes, grinding her gears, and
making very wide turns. Although as I kept driving her, even when I wasn t supposed to, it started
becoming second nature. Now, It s a feeling. Whenever I shift gears it feels perfect and comfortable.
Honestly whenever I drive her I can t resist but speed just a little. It s just a little risky even when you

Dashboard Design Matters
Dashboards have become a standard business tool over the last decade. Dozens of dashboard building
solutions have sprung up to meet the demand. Yet in the flurry of technology and enthusiasm, little
attention has been paid to how to design focused, thoughtful, and user friendly dashboards. Our three
part guide will show you the concepts and give you the best practices to create a high impact
dashboard that people love to use. Traditional dashboard design focuses almost exclusively on

Questions Role What decisions do they make? What questions do they need answered? Work flow
In what context will they be reviewing the dashboard? What information are they using on a daily
basis? How much time do they have to review the numbers? Data comfort and skills How
sophisticated are they with using data? Are they proficient in Excel? Do they enjoy digging into the
numbers? Business and data expertise How familiar are they with the key performance metrics? Do
they understand where the data comes from? Are they familiar with internal company or industry
terminology?
Implication Structure the information to make it super easy to answer high priority questions. The
form and information display needs to fit into an existing work flow. For example, an on the road sales
person may need information delivered to her BlackBerry, not designed for an online wide screen
monitor.
The dashboard s level of detail and analytical capabilities should match the audiences comfort zone.
This determines the need for embedded explanations and use of natural language.
Juice Analytics creates dashboards that business people love to use.

The Contributions of St. Augustine and Brigid of Kildare...
The Contributions of St. Augustine and Brigid of Kildare to Christianity
St. Augustine and Bridgid of Kildare were two very influential people in the church during the fourth
and fifth centuries. St. Augustine and Bridgid of Kildare were most famous for the monasteries that
they founded. Both St. Augustine and Bridgid were devout Christians who contributed greatly to the
growth of Christianity. Both of these people encouraged the spread of Christianity, the belief in a life
of solitude, and inspired many to follow in their footsteps. I admire both St. Augustine and Bridgid of
Kildare greatly. They began a new way of religious life by providing a peaceful place where anyone

Augustine s father was a local Roman official and pagan, until he converted shortly before dying.
Monica, Augustine s mother, was a devout Christian and tried to raise her son as one also. Augustine
was a natural born leader in school, but at the age of sixteen he was forced to leave because his father
could no longer pay the tuition fees. Augustine turned to alcohol, gambling, and prostitutes. A year
later Augustine was able to return to school and studied law. When his studies were completed at the
age of eighteen he became a teacher. Augustine, despite his mother s wishes for him to be a Christian,
became a Manichaean. Manichaeans believed that one god created good and another created evil, and
that therefore no one was responsible for his or her sins. Monica fervently prayed for her son s
conversion, but he was stubborn and refused to do so. A year later, while teaching in Milan, Augustine
met Plato and Bishop Ambrose.
Soon Manichaeism became increasingly dissatisfying for Augustine. He became fascinated with the
teachings of Plato and was soon convinced that there was a single god. Augustine even began
attending mass to hear Ambrose preach. It seemed as if Augustine was working to reform his life, but
soon his lust took over and he reverted back to his previous ways. Augustine continued to teach, but
his heart and soul felt empty.
One day while sitting outside he heard a group of children chanting. Suddenly inspired by their

and ten thousand people were killed (Revels, 2014).
Unfortunately, the corrupted Somoza family was the only one who received any benefit from the

However, instead of going to rebuilding the country, the money was swindled by the Somoza family.

Shelley sThe Revolt Of Islam, And The French Revolution
After the glories of the Revolution had been washed away by the blood bath in France during the
terror and consequent events, the artistic stage of Europe came to be dominated by a spirit of gloom
and misanthropy , a culture of political despondency, an age of catastrophic despair. Shelley s The
Revolt of Islam, according to Cian Duffey, was an attempt to revise the cultural record surrounding
history s foremost political catastrophe, to relocate the apparent disaster of the revolution within a
long term systematic, natural economy of hope . Shelley does not just attempt to correct the failed
political confidences of his fellow artists like Byron, Wordsworth and Southey but challenges the
dominant catastrophist record of the Revolution in the public mind. Writing the Revolution, to quote
Duffy again, would therefore also mean righting the revolution: correcting public interpretation of
what had happened in France . By calling the French Revolution the master theme of the epoch in
which we live , and in turn writing about another failed attempt of a Revolution, Shelley seeks to trace
its locus in a Necessitarian/Deterministic notion of the natural history of politics, a history within
which the Napoleonic collapse of the Revolution is a natural part of the inevitable, the gradual and
long term process of political change. Dismissed by critics like Bloom and White as an abortive
allegorical epic which is thematically incoherent , The Revolt of Islam has not received

Langston Hughes , The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain claimed that African Americans face
racial and cultural challenges with finding their own identity in a society mainly influenced by
Eurocentric American culture. More specifically, Hughes discussed the challenges of African
American artists in embracing their black and remaining successful. Hughes recalled a conversation
with a black poet, who stated that I want to be a poet not a Negro poet, (Hughes, 964). Hughes
interpreted his statement to mean that subconsciously he wanted to be white. He used this
conversation and others to support his beliefs about African American identity and culture. He
communicated that African Americans try to blend into the Eurocentric American culture,

History of Wicca religion Essay
The Wiccan religion is one of the fastest growing religions in the United States as well one of the most
misunderstood due to the controversies surrounding its history and mystery shrouding its beliefs and
doctrines. Due to a series of popular TV series that have shown Witchcraft in a positive light, such as
Sabrina, the Teen aged Witch and Charmed, the popularity of Wicca has grown, especially amongst
teenagers; but sadly this popularity has not been partnered with a growth in understanding and respect
(Kaminer). Although Wicca offers a nature oriented, egalitarian belief system with a rich collection of
customs and rituals, ignorance and historically rooted misconceptions still dominate public opinion.
The controversies that surround ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many who are Wiccan today that do not believe that the origin of their religion is in
Witchcraft; while others believe that these religious practices are part of the foundation of Wicca.
Because paganism was not an organized religion and was primarily passed on through oral traditions,
there is questionable historical evidence to support a direct connection between the two.
The development of Wicca in the modern times is associated with a gentleman named Gerald Gardner
(1884 1964). He was a British civil servant and amateur archaeologist, who spent most of his working
years in Southern Asia. Upon his return to England, he authored the book Witchcraft Today, which
outlined many of the rituals and doctrines of the religion that is now called Wicca. Although Gardner
claimed his book was inspired from Celtic traditions, it is actually a combination of Western faith,
Asian magic, god and goddess worship, and Masonic rituals (Melton). The religion Gardner outlined
in his book is a nature oriented faith where a low emphasis on magic predominates. While there is a
tendency to see Wicca and Witchcraft as one and the same and some Wiccans may identify themselves
as witches, it is a personal choice and many modern Wiccans do not see themselves as witches.
Witchcraft describes a magically oriented practice but lacks the spiritual foundation that Wicca as a
religion embodies. Today=s modern Wiccan religion is not the religion that Christians tried to

Mobile Phones And Electronics Particularly On Mobile Devices
In this digital age we have a tendency to be extensively dependent on electronics particularly on
mobile devices. There are various mobile electronic devices: laptop, tablet, and cellular phone to name
a few. In the early 1990 s even with the bulkiness students started bringing cellular phones to school
back then. Schools began to place a restriction on the use of mobile phones in the classroom. Initially,
the cell phone was only able to make calls and receive calls. Now, the cell phone or more commonly
named smart phone is the most favorable with students since they are able to stay connected to a wide
variety of social media. For example, Students can access the Internet, send or receive text messages,
check email, and even video chat with others quite literally from the palm of their hand (Kuznekoff,
Titsworth 234). With this in mind, a person is able to keep their credit card information, bank online,
shop online, play games, watch videos, the list goes on. Students of all ages carry their mobile (smart)
phones with them when they go to school to make phone calls, text message or simply just listen to
music. It appears very few students engaged in modern education today are not equipped with a
mobile communication device. For instance, take a walk through the quad and within 5o feet there is a
probability of a half dozen or more people walking and talking or texting on the cell phone. In fact the
smart phone has a numerous amount of features and applications. Mobile

Classical vocal improvised music has some, while composed, metric pieces with ceremonial
implications, such as the pishdaramad, are definitely musiqi but lack the full range of objectionable
characteristics suggested in pieces with a primarily virtuoso intent, such as the chahar mezrab, or of
Westernized music, to say nothing of absolutely secular music such as night club performances. All of
this suggests that, in contemporary urban Iran, the sounds that might be considered to be simply music
in Western culture might be regarded as music, but to varying degrees.
The dominant sounds in Iran are the metallic and clear sounds. Persian classical music has free form
which can be measured or not and is open to improvisation (âvâz/ chahârmezrâb). Moreover, from one
maqâm (system of melodic modes) to another, all the melodies resemble each other, differing mainly
by their scale. It is an ingenuous imitation technique, which has been developed by the Central Asian
masters. The musical form has no rules. Styles vary from calls at a measured pace on a single note, or
within a narrow range centred on one note, to richly melismatic chants with a wide range. Rhythmic
structure is influenced by the length of the syllables in the text. Textual repetition often leads to
repeated musical phrases differing only in their final note. Unusually,

The Path Of An Instructional Designer Because
When I joined the United State Air Force in 2004, I quickly learned how easy it is to pass the blame. I
noticed early in my military career, that broken processes were often ignored. Meanwhile, the person
at the tactical level of the process was blamed for the result. After all the punishments are dealt out,
new employees are assigned to the project, and all the smoke clears, the same problems seem to
persist. When I suspect a process is inefficient, I feel a strong urge to find out why these issues exist
and then find solutions. This is often a pursuit that puts me at odds with some supervisors, but
cherished by some subordinates. It s not hard for me to recognize that most employees want to excel at
their jobs. Unfortunately, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teaching students to work on the B 52 aircraft in Minot, North Dakota during the dead of winter bears
some unique challenges. It takes a strong leadership ability to motivate students to perform hands on
task while enduring 30 degree below zero temperatures. In the Air Force s Non Commissioned Officer
Academy (NCOA) I was awarded the Distinguished Graduate for displaying that level of leadership.
I feel that underneath all the positional authorities of leadership, the true test is the ability to empower
people. This is the reason why I want to not only learn how to use technology in an education setting;
I also want to improve the lives of students with leadership. I believe that the educational technology
leadership program at George Washington University is the only program that perfectly meshes the
two together. In my opinion, human performance is the key to learning. However, it seems as though
education sometimes focuses on the information that needs to be taught instead of the outcomes. Dr.
Watkins publication highlighted this theory in previous work by Robert Mager. Watkins (2010) stated
instructional designers should move beyond determining what instructors should teach; rather, they
should focus on understanding what learners should be able to do as a result of the instruction.
Technology can serve as an excellent starting point for student centered learning.
Technology and leadership are the two elements that draw me to this program. There are

The Memory Interference Test ( Mit )
The Memory Interference Test (MIT) is a computerized experiment that gauges the cognitive
functioning of undergraduate students through visual or auditory prompts to test memory. The MIT is
particularly used to test patient s memory in situations where a brain injury is in question, the results
in performance are compared to standardized scores of their peers. There is an inverse relationship
between the amount of memory target items and performance: as the number of items the subject was
exposed to increased their performance significantly decreased (Komori 2016). Does previous expose
to the MIT and thus previous exposure to other target items account for the decrease in number of
correct items? Using a sample size of 10,090 the study examines the relationship between
performance and if the subject has had previous exposure to an MIT. The alternative hypothesis that
there is a statistically significant difference in the number of correct picture items and if it was the
subjects first MIT attempt, which directly contradicts the null hypothesis that there is no difference in
the number of correct picture items and wether or not it was the first MIT preformed.

so through three different cognitive assessments: picture memory (PMIT), auditory memory (AMIT)

Crime And The Quality Of Life
Introduction
For better or worse, there is a link between crime and society. Society is strongly affected by crime
due to the cost and the decline in the quality of life that citizens face as a result of criminal activity.
Since there is a relationship associated with crime and the quality of life, then reducing crime is one of
the top priorities of a police department. However, reducing crime is a major challenge for any police
department around the world. Staffing shortages are one of the biggest challenges facing police
departments while attempting to reduce crime. Many agencies across the United States are having
trouble recruiting new police officers and keeping experienced, seasoned officers on the police force.
Staffing shortages are due to low pay, a cut in benefits, and the national anti police sentiment being
broadcasted across many news organizations daily. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in
2015 publicly released that there was an average of 2.3 officers per 1,000 inhabitants within cities that
had more than 10,000 residents (The Federal Bureau of Investigation s 2015). An average of 2.3
officers per 1,000 residents is not enough to deter or prevent crime. In a preliminary report for 2015
crime stats, the FBI noted, there is an overall increase in violent crimes. Based on data provided by
12,879 law enforcement agencies throughout the United States, murders have increased 6.2 percent

Canadian identity wasn t always stereotypically related to polar bears, maple syrup and beavers.
Various movements in the 20th century began the development of Canadian identity. Aspects of

Technology distinguished Canada as a developed nation amongst others with advanced transportation,

One of the first major acts towards immigration was the Canadian Citizenships Act of 1947, which
was passed by WL Mackenzie King on January 1, 1947 (Towards the Citizenship Act. Government of

were also able to apply for citizenship after 5 years of living in Canada (Ibid). Other changes included
that women would not lose their citizenship if they married a non Canadian (Erica, Gagnon. Canadian

which instituted three classes of immigrants: independent class, family class and humanitarian class

s opportunities and challenges. SWOT can be defined as a more general and overall assessment, while
the Five Forces model is more single growth decision. SWOT is a simple evaluation of the company s
current situation based on strengths and weaknesses, as well as a look at opportunities and possible
threats as the company moves forward in the industry. To conduct this analysis, company managers
often set up a table that includes main points in each of the four SWOT classifications. Strengths and
weaknesses are evaluated in relation to how your company currently deals against competitors.
Identifying opportunities and threats includes suggesting future events or direction. The Five Forces
model includes five factors in a competitive framework. They include the bargaining power of
suppliers, the bargaining power of buyers, competitive rivalry, threat from substitutions and threat of
new entries. Five Forces analysis is used to find out the competitive advantages the business has in
each part. As a product reseller, for example, it helps to identify your relative bargaining power

Print Media Press
46. Print Media (Press). The Government of India Act of 1935, gave a large measure of self
government to Indians but none of the major newspapers were owned or edited by Muslims .
However, when Indian Muslims began to organize and rally to the political platform of the All India
Muslim League, concerted efforts were made to develop a strong press to support the Muslim national
cause. A number of Muslim owned newspapers were established. Two English language newspapers,
Morning News in Calcutta and Dawn in Delhi, began publishing in 1942. In the late 1930s, the first
Indian Muslim news agency, the Orient Press of India, was founded. Important events unfolded as

a. On the eve of independence, however, only four major Muslim owned newspapers existed namely
Pakistan times, Zamindar, Nawa I Waqt, and Civil and Military Gazette, all located in Lahore. A
number of Muslim newspapers moved to Pakistan, Dawn began publication as a daily in Karachi on
the day of independence in 1947. Other publications were also shifted to Pakistan including the
Morning News and the Urdu language dailies Jang and Anjam .

Kohler Case
Introduction Kohler Company was faced with a very tough decision of whether or not to settle outside
of court or go to court to settle with the dissenting shareholders. We will take you through the history
of the company and why they recapitalized. Also, we will touch on some of the risks of going to trial
to have the courts set a price. We have also broken down the numbers and found many different prices
found by using the dividend growth model and the multiples approach. We will also show how
different outcomes will affect Kohler s retained earnings and cash standing. In the end, we believe we
have chosen the best possible price to make everyone in the case happy without much sacrifice from
either side and without having to go to court. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the successful reverse stock split only a small percentage of stock still remained with outsiders,
but was closely monitored for the next 20years to maintain the private state of firm control. It is hard
to find negatives for being so private because Kohler has been so successful at it. A few possible
reasons for big companies such as Kohler to have public shares is because they offer a new source of
capital, a cash flow for acquisitions, liquidity for estate planning and a means to reward employees
with options. Kohler could make the counter to these public offers by saying we may not have these
public options, but who is going to take us over anyway... we re Kohler. Why recapitalize: In 1998,
Herbert Kohler proposed to buy back all the shares from outsiders and further restrict the selling of
shares to outsiders. There were many reasons for this recapitalization plan: Herbert Kohler did not like
the high speculative prices that the shares were selling for. People started to think that Kohler would
go public and it would increase the share prices. Therefore, they paid higher prices for the Kohler
stock with the expectations that the stock price would go higher. He thought that it might entice the
family members to sell their shares to outsiders.
5 Kohler preferred the company s private status. It was a family owned business and Kohler wanted
to keep it within the family. Kohler could not control

Summary Of The Dilemma Of Dr. Sagatius
I must admit by way of virtue that after reading the dilemma of Dr. Sagatius, pg 186, I was
dumbfounded as to the mind numbing choice I would have to make where the doctor in this dilemma.
Furthermore, I believe that this dilemma is often encountered not only in the health sector, but widely
common in the policing community. It is realistic that though policemen and department managers are
selected and trained in a professional code of ethics, cops may inevitably succumb to an entirely
different set of ethics in where loyalty is to their fellow officers rather than social justice. It is this
camaraderie, the nature of the job, this danger they face that forges a knit tight gang of loyalty to each
other. Label it whistle blowing if you will

Epistemic Virtue And The Ecological Crisis Summary
In Byron Williston s essay, Epistemic Virtue and the Ecological Crisis , Williston examines Joel Kovel
s ideas on what it takes to get ahead in a capitalist society: To succeed in the marketplace and to rise to
the top, one needs a hard, cold, calculating mentality... None of these traits are at all correlated with
ecological sensibility or caring (Kovel, quoted in Williston, p. 250;252). Kovel s ideal person is one
that is always looking for deeds that are self serving. Kovel is implying that to be successful in life,
one must put morals as an afterthought in order to move ahead in this capitalistic society. I disagree
with Kovel statement, based on how Kovel s claims on how to be successful is not true for all
professions. Furthermore, I disagree with Kovel s statements that if someone is successful, they cannot
be environmentally sensitive, or possess the trait of being caring by looking at the cases of Leonardo
DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. When Kovel states to rise to the top, one needs to have a
calculating mentality, this may be true for some people, but not all. Kovel is picturing the stereotype
of the businessman , one who puts their career over being emotionally caring and environmentally
friendly. Yet someone s career ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads me to conclude that Kovel believes that one must choose between being successful or being
environmentally friendly and caring. When looking at the example of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,
both high paying actors and supporters of the environment, they are the parents to six children
(Roberts 2018). One would consider the raising of a child, shows that they contain the caring
personality trait. Therefore, Jolie and Pitt can be successful in their fields, sensitive about the
environment, and are still caring people, as they are parents. This goes against Kovel s idea of what
type of people Pitt and Jolie should

Evaluating Blood Pressure In A Veterinary Hospital
After a patient presents to a veterinary hospital with an actual or potential cardiovascular condition, it
is important that the treating technician knows and understand the different monitoring parameters
they will need to evaluate. There are many different things a technician will need to evaluate. Some of
these include the following: heart rate, respiration, ECG, and blood pressure. Blood pressure is one of
the important monitoring tools that a technician has available to them to use when they are taking care
of a cardiovascular patient. A technician needs understand what the different readings mean so they
can respond appropriately. In addition, a technician needs to know the correct procedure for taking a
reading and how and where to use the equipment.
Hypertension is one potential complication from cardiovascular disease. Hypertension is when a
patient s blood pressure increases above the normal range. This condition can be caused by the heart
disease or it can be the condition that is causing the actual heart disease, for this reason it is important
to treat hypertension in any patient that presents with cardiovascular problems. Some of the
underlying conditions that can cause hypertension include the following: renal disease, ... Show more

If an incorrect size cuff is chosen it can give improper readings and provide false information about
the patient. To monitor a patient s blood pressure the correct technique is important. The way blood
pressure is monitored, is to place a cuff around a limb where the animal has a pulse. The technician
will then inflate the cuff and determine the blood pressure of the animal. A normal blood pressure
reading for a dog has a systolic range of 131 154. For dogs, the goal of treating hypertension is to
reduce the animal s blood pressure to an acceptable range. The normal goal is to reduce the systolic
blood pressure to below

Premarital Cohabitation
I.) Fundamental Issues and Historical Applications A. Toward a Greater Understanding of the
Cohabitation Effect: Premarital Cohabitation and Marital Communication. 1. Issue number 6. What is
the most appropriate level of analysis for psychology? Position A: Molecular. Despite significant
theories giving a relationship to premarital cohabitation and the likelihood of divorce, we have yet to
definitively answer the underlying question of why the relationship exists. This study focuses not on
the theories themselves, but on a function of marital life. Marital communication is a large part of
marital development. If the breakdown of communication is significantly lower for couples that

The authors use a perspective of structuralism in their analysis of premarital education attendance.
Looking at couples individually in determining whether they are high risk for relationship problems is
accomplished by breaking down the characteristics of the individuals and assessing their behavior
tendencies. E. The Relationship between Cohabitation and Marital Quality and Stability: Change
across Cohorts? 1. Issue number 2. What is the most appropriate methodological strategy for
psychology? Position B: Theory. The methodology strategy includes a collection of theories, concepts
or ideas. The selection perspective and the experience of cohabitation perspective were both used in
the analysis and conclusions of this study. The changing of the relationship of premarital cohabitation
and marital dysfunction may have changed over time. These theories provide potential explanation for
results in this study. 2. The authors of this study hold a perspective of structuralism. While analyzing
the selection perspective the component characteristics are relevant in the study of the perspective as a
whole. In other words, the characteristics of the individual make up the perspective. In the experience
of cohabitation perspective the concept of living together before marriage is said to breakdown the
attitudes once held before cohabitation, therefore increasing the probability of divorce. The analysis of

Ode To Enchanted Light Mood
Poetry Analysis for Ode to Enchanted Light and Sleeping in the Forest Those who dwell... among the
beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life (Rachel Carson). Rachel Carson s
quote reveals to us that nature is beautiful, powerful, mysterious, and extraordinary. This is expressed
in the poems Ode to Enchanted Light and Sleeping in the Forest. The poem Ode to Enchanted Light
by Pablo Neruda and the poem Sleeping the Forest both contain a mood, a tone, figurative language, a
certain structure, and a theme. Both poems have those elements, however, Mary Oliver and Pablo
Neruda use the elements differently in their literature. Therefore, both poets use multiple elements in
their poems in similar and different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pablo Neruda praises light at the beginning of the poem twice with figurative language. He states
Light like a green latticework of branches and Drifting down like clean white sand. By stating this,
Neruda is telling us that light is beautiful and pure. So the theme of this ode is that light should be
praised, is beautiful, and is important. In the same way, Mary Oliver uses figurative language
throughout the poem to convey the theme of her poem. Mary Oliver states I thought the earth
remembered me, she took me back so tenderly. Oliver is trying to convey the idea of mother nature
taking her kindly and gently. Another piece of figurative language in Sleeping in the Forest that
reveals the poem s theme is By morning I had vanished at least at least a dozen times into something
better. This hyperbold reveals to us that Oliver s mind went to a better place while she was in nature,
meaning that nature is relieving a stress free. Therefore, the theme of Sleeping in the Forest is that
nature is a better place to be in and nature is peaceful. The themes of Ode to Enchanted Light and
Sleeping in the Forest are both about the beauties of nature, however, one is about sleeping and
darkness while the other one is about light. These themes tell reader that the poets have a positive and
loving perspective towards nature.

Kami Is Like Shintoism
Within all religions, there is a belief in beings that live around us and can have the means to answer
certain prayers. Kami is a term used in Shintoism as spirits that live closely with human beings, which
are anything out of the ordinary, awe inspiring, mysterious, powerful, marvelous, and beyond human
control or comprehension. (Brood 318) Kami is often associated with ancestors and loved ones who
have passed on from the world of the living or even evil being who wish to do harm to those still
living. Shintoism states that many of these Kami can have the power to not only alter human events
but can also influence natural forces. Kami when applied to spirits that live in things is a way to attach
a meaning to the word, but it also applies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shinto has no concept of sin, but rather it teaches that evil actions can contaminate individuals by
causing them to accrue impurities that poison innocence and offend the Kami. To rid one s self of
these impurities, Shintoism prescribes ritual washings in natural phenomena like a large source of
flowing water or salt. The symbolism of water recognizes that the purification process is letting the
person previous sins and acts of uncleanliness flow out of their soul and allowing the Kami, in this
case water spirit, to carry it away. The uses of salt could be applied to purify the land before any use
such as agriculture or construction of buildings. The rituals of purification do not apply to only
individuals and groups, but to the christening of new buildings and the start of a new business or a
change in government officials. A high priest, who calls out to the Kami, performs most rituals where
large groups are involved to request the Maiden of the Descent into the Current, Maiden of the Swift
Cleaning, the lord of the Breath blowing place, and the Maiden of Swift Banishment to wash away,
gulp down, blow away, and to abolish away the sins of the group to purify their minds and souls. (The

Farmers In The Middle Ages Essay
Pressures on the Farmers in the Middle Ages Without a reliable and plentiful food source it is
impossible for a society to progress. In the Middle Ages neither was available until later after the 1300
s. Ironically it was the disastrous events of the Great European Famine and the Black Death that
pressured agricultural demands. This forced improvements in the varieties of crops and the
production. The events all started out in the spring of 1315. Unfortunately the April showers did not
bring May flowers, it only brought more rain. The rain would last for two years. A natural disaster of
deficient crop and starvation was arising. To most observers the first major effect of the weather of
1315, 1316, and 1317 was the material devastation caused by the rains and the flooding that ensued;

The effects of the disease may have put a bigger toll on the economy. Trade brought exotic goods to
England, but in 1348 it also brought pestilence and death. (Williams, 2007, p.85) As the wages, and
production costs rose, the prices of food had to drop, because of oversupply. There was a more supply
of food than there was for the people that were alive. Peasant farmers had a positive outcome
financially. Since the population was decreasing, the amount of laborers was scarce. Demands for
peasants increased, and they were asking for more money to their job. The lords had to pay and were
not happy with the power peasants were receiving. This phenomena was known as the Peasants Revolt
of 1381 where a poll tax was created after the Black Death against the peasants and landowners to
help pay war debt. This would add to more struggles to Middle Age agriculturists. It was much harder
on the peasants, who could ill afford to pay, especially as the tax was collected in cash and not in farm

Indian Culture And Its Impact On Society
India is country known all over the world for its culture and tradition. It is a land with various cultures
and traditions which are as vast as the subcontinent upon which they are located. This essay will focus
on the Indian culture and highlight the different beliefs that Indians have on life processes. The essay
will show the different methods Indians use to stay healthy and how the Indian culture can determine
how healthcare services are provided to the people.
India is a nation of many different individuals, each with their own beliefs and way of life. The
different beliefs that are held by these people and the traditions they follow can have a significant
impact on how they view modern healthcare. The beliefs and moral values which are a part of human
nature can have positive impacts on an individual, but can also bind them and cause negative impacts
on mental and physical health (Worthington Gogne, 2011). It is necessary for health professionals to
be aware of the cultural beliefs and influences so that they can effectively provide healthcare services.
A lack of cultural competence in care leads to poor patient outcomes, low compliance, and higher
disparities regardless of the services and systems available ( Diversity Cultural Competency in Health
Care Settings ).
Depending on an individual s culture, the way in which one perceives life processes differs greatly.
For Indians their culture plays a large role in how they perceive these things. Being a nation with

The Ways Punk Culture has been Used
Punk has influenced and has been influenced by popular culture in a number of ways. Since the
beginning of the subculture, major label record labels, haute couture, and the mass media have
attempted to use punk for profit and popularity. Punk fashion is the clothing, hairstyles, cosmetics,
jewelry, and body modifications of the punk subculture. Many punks use clothing as a way of making
a statement. First days of punk took place in London in the middle of the 70 s. Young teenagers and
rebel followers of a new music style created it, called punk. One of the most popular music groups
was the Sex Pistols launched by Malcolm McLaren. His partner was the great Vivenne Westwood, one
of the most popular fashion designers. Punk rock was an intentional rebuttal of the perceived excess
and pretension found in mainstream music and culture. It seems the world of fashion has seen
everything already. And punk style fascination and shocking is a real past. It developed so many ways,
that we are used to see someone originally dressed.
Music is the most important aspect of punk. Punk music is called punk rock, sometimes shortened to
punk. Punk subcultures often distinguish themselves by having a unique style of punk rock, though
not every style of punk rock has its own associated subculture. Most punk rock involves simple
arrangements, short songs and lyrics that espouse punk values. Punk rock is usually played in bands,
as opposed to solo artists. A variety of dances are popular within

An Example Of A Private Sector Business
Business Organisations Task 1
A private sector business is a business that is part of the economy that is not state controlled. It is run
by individuals and companies who are mainly for profit. These businesses are not owned or operated
by government. An example of a private sector business would be ASDA. Asda Stores limited is an
American owned, British founded supermarket retailer. The company has been a subsidiary of the
American retail company Wal Mart since July 1999, and is now the second largest supermarket chain
by market share (Corporate Watch 1996 2014). The company provides normal goods for the public.
They offer service to the public and strive for excellence business. I chose this example because
ASDA is a large company that is aiming for profit and it is a private sector business.
A public sector business is a business that usually composed of organisations that are owned and
operated by the government (PrivacySense2015).
The primary difference between public and private sector businesses is who they for. Public sector
employees are who those work for government. An example of public sector would be public schools.
The purpose of schools is that they provide education for the young people and public schools are
funded by government to offer education to students. I chose public schools business they are from
public sector and because they use government funding to offer education to the children. Public
schools offer free education and they are

By Anthony Ch. 12 13 DNA Protein Synthesis Project By Anthony Li, Connor Farrell, John Koutsonikolis, and Tristan Funicelli (Tristan) # Describe the contributions of each of the following to the discovery of the structure of DNA 1) Watson and Crick: Used Rosalind Franklin s x rays of DNA to conclude that DNA took the shape of a double helix. 2) Frederick Miescher: Used pus from infections to isolate nuclein. He found that nuclein had a unique ratio of phosphorous to nitrogen. 3) Oswald Avery: Tested many strains of bacteria and discovered that DNA carries a cell s genetic code and can be altered through transformations. 4) Rosalind Franklin: Used x ray diffractions to take pictures of the structure of DNA. (Tristan) # Explain the process by which DNA is able to make copies of itself also including an explanation of why it is considered semiconservative replication There are four steps to replication 1) Unwind: Helicase splits a DNA section in half at the replication fork. 2) Unzips: DNA Polymerase breaks the hydrogen bonds and unwinds the section. 3) Copy: DNA Polymerase joins individual nucleotides with their complementary counterparts to form a new strand of DNA. Replication runs in the 5 to 3 direction. 4) Rewind: The DNA section is zipped back up and winded up again. DNA replication is considered semiconservative because each new strand of DNA contains only half of the original DNA strand. 6. (Connor) Compare and Contrast the prokaryotic and eukaryotic chromies. Prokaryotic Chromosomes Prokaryotes typically have a single circular chromosome Are condensed in the nucleoid via DNA supercoiling and binding of architectural proteinsTranscription and translation occur at the same time Most only contain a single copy of each gene Genomes are efficient and compact with very little of the same DNA Eukaryotic Chromosomes Contain multiple linear chromosomes Condensed in a nucleus with a membrane by histones Transcription occurs ... • 3. My First Car Research Paper My first car, which is also my current car, is the best/most beautiful car I ve ever had. I have a standard 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, and it has a nice maroon color, unfortunately with some pretty bad sun damage. I think of it as a female and named her Misty, when I first got her she was perfect just wished that the owner who had before didn t take off her logo from the front and back. The back bumper is custom as well as the side skirts. After my timing belt came loose we learned that the owner before me didn t put it on right, so after the mechanics fixed her up the front bumper was somehow extra loose. Now we have a pretty floppy front bumper, as for other aspects of her outer beauty, she has a nice spoiler, fogged up headlights, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other than that it really doesn t have any other smell, which can also be bad because under the hot sun my back would start sweating which gives it a temporal unpleasant smell. I will purchase some car fresheners whenever I get the chance to. Also, I have some bizarre items inside, I ve got a plastic garden flamingo sitting in my trunk right next to some drum heads, a bag full of paintballs with some slingshots, and some styrofoam. Just some crazy stuff picked up on my wild adventures with friends, most of the times we would take my car when we re out and about making some stupid fun decisions. On the passenger side the dash for some reason is a dark blue color, not really matching with the black and red, I do intend to do something about that soon. I really do love driving my car, putting it into gear and just smashing in the gas is a great one. When I drove Misty for the first time, also driving standard for the first time, It felt difficult. Kept stalling it on up hill slopes, grinding her gears, and making very wide turns. Although as I kept driving her, even when I wasn t supposed to, it started becoming second nature. Now, It s a feeling. Whenever I shift gears it feels perfect and comfortable. Honestly whenever I drive her I can t resist but speed just a little. It s just a little risky even when you have no ... The Contributions of St. Augustine and Brigid of Kildare to Christianity St. Augustine and Bridgid of Kildare were two very influential people in the church during the fourth and fifth centuries. St. Augustine and Bridgid of Kildare were most famous for the monasteries that they founded. Both St. Augustine and Bridgid were devout Christians who contributed greatly to the growth of Christianity. Both of these people encouraged the spread of Christianity, the belief in a life of solitude, and inspired many to follow in their footsteps. I admire both St. Augustine and Bridgid of Kildare greatly. They began a new way of religious life by providing a peaceful place where anyone could come to rest and reflect no matter what their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Augustine s father was a local Roman official and pagan, until he converted shortly before dying. Monica, Augustine s mother, was a devout Christian and tried to raise her son as one also. Augustine was a natural born leader in school, but at the age of sixteen he was forced to leave because his father could no longer pay the tuition fees. Augustine turned to alcohol, gambling, and prostitutes. A year later Augustine was able to return to school and studied law. When his studies were completed at the age of eighteen he became a teacher. Augustine, despite his mother s wishes for him to be a Christian, became a Manichaean. Manichaeans believed that one god created good and another created evil, and that therefore no one was responsible for his or her sins. Monica fervently prayed for her son s conversion, but he was stubborn and refused to do so. A year later, while teaching in Milan, Augustine met Plato and Bishop Ambrose. Soon Manichaeism became increasingly dissatisfying for Augustine. He became fascinated with the teachings of Plato and was soon convinced that there was a single god. Augustine even began attending mass to hear Ambrose preach. It seemed as if Augustine was working to reform his life, but soon his lust took over and he reverted back to his previous ways. Augustine continued to teach, but his heart and soul felt empty. One day while sitting outside he heard a group of children chanting. Suddenly inspired by their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The epicenter of the quake was near to the capital city of Managua and it caused unprecedented destruction. Over 2/3 of Nicaragua s citizens were displaced by this terrible earthquake and ten thousand people were killed (Revels, 2014). Unfortunately, the corrupted Somoza family was the only one who received any benefit from the earthquake. In the wake of the earthquake, the United States poured tons of money into Nicaragua. However, instead of going to rebuilding the country, the money was swindled by the Somoza family. They took the money from the people and then bought up land from people for much less than it was worth. By 1979, the Somoza family was estimated to be worth $1 billion (Townson, ... • 10. Shelley sThe Revolt Of Islam, And The French Revolution After the glories of the Revolution had been washed away by the blood bath in France during the terror and consequent events, the artistic stage of Europe came to be dominated by a spirit of gloom and misanthropy , a culture of political despondency, an age of catastrophic despair. Shelley s The Revolt of Islam, according to Cian Duffey, was an attempt to revise the cultural record surrounding history s foremost political catastrophe, to relocate the apparent disaster of the revolution within a long term systematic, natural economy of hope . Shelley does not just attempt to correct the failed political confidences of his fellow artists like Byron, Wordsworth and Southey but challenges the dominant catastrophist record of the Revolution in the public mind. Writing the Revolution, to quote Duffy again, would therefore also mean righting the revolution: correcting public interpretation of what had happened in France . By calling the French Revolution the master theme of the epoch in which we live , and in turn writing about another failed attempt of a Revolution, Shelley seeks to trace its locus in a Necessitarian/Deterministic notion of the natural history of politics, a history within which the Napoleonic collapse of the Revolution is a natural part of the inevitable, the gradual and long term process of political change. Dismissed by critics like Bloom and White as an abortive allegorical epic which is thematically incoherent , The Revolt of Islam has not received ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hughes recalled a conversation with a black poet, who stated that I want to be a poet not a Negro poet, (Hughes, 964). • 12. History of Wicca religion Essay The Wiccan religion is one of the fastest growing religions in the United States as well one of the most misunderstood due to the controversies surrounding its history and mystery shrouding its beliefs and doctrines. Due to a series of popular TV series that have shown Witchcraft in a positive light, such as Sabrina, the Teen aged Witch and Charmed, the popularity of Wicca has grown, especially amongst teenagers; but sadly this popularity has not been partnered with a growth in understanding and respect (Kaminer). Although Wicca offers a nature oriented, egalitarian belief system with a rich collection of customs and rituals, ignorance and historically rooted misconceptions still dominate public opinion. The controversies that surround ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many who are Wiccan today that do not believe that the origin of their religion is in Witchcraft; while others believe that these religious practices are part of the foundation of Wicca. Because paganism was not an organized religion and was primarily passed on through oral traditions, there is questionable historical evidence to support a direct connection between the two. The development of Wicca in the modern times is associated with a gentleman named Gerald Gardner (1884 1964). He was a British civil servant and amateur archaeologist, who spent most of his working years in Southern Asia. Upon his return to England, he authored the book Witchcraft Today, which outlined many of the rituals and doctrines of the religion that is now called Wicca. Although Gardner claimed his book was inspired from Celtic traditions, it is actually a combination of Western faith, Asian magic, god and goddess worship, and Masonic rituals (Melton). The religion Gardner outlined in his book is a nature oriented faith where a low emphasis on magic predominates. While there is a tendency to see Wicca and Witchcraft as one and the same and some Wiccans may identify themselves as witches, it is a personal choice and many modern Wiccans do not see themselves as witches. Witchcraft describes a magically oriented practice but lacks the spiritual foundation that Wicca as a religion embodies. There are various mobile electronic devices: laptop, tablet, and cellular phone to name a few. In the early 1990 s even with the bulkiness students started bringing cellular phones to school back then. Schools began to place a restriction on the use of mobile phones in the classroom. Initially, the cell phone was only able to make calls and receive calls. Now, the cell phone or more commonly named smart phone is the most favorable with students since they are able to stay connected to a wide variety of social media. For example, Students can access the Internet, send or receive text messages, check email, and even video chat with others quite literally from the palm of their hand (Kuznekoff, Titsworth 234). With this in mind, a person is able to keep their credit card information, bank online, shop online, play games, watch videos, the list goes on. Students of all ages carry their mobile (smart) phones with them when they go to school to make phone calls, text message or simply just listen to music. It appears very few students engaged in modern education today are not equipped with a mobile communication device. For instance, take a walk through the quad and within 5o feet there is a probability of a half dozen or more people walking and talking or texting on the cell phone. In fact the smart phone has a numerous amount of features and applications. Mobile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of this suggests that, in contemporary urban Iran, the sounds that might be considered to be simply music in Western culture might be regarded as music, but to varying degrees. The dominant sounds in Iran are the metallic and clear sounds. Persian classical music has free form which can be measured or not and is open to improvisation (âvâz/ chahârmezrâb). When I suspect a process is inefficient, I feel a strong urge to find out why these issues exist and then find solutions. I feel that underneath all the positional authorities of leadership, the true test is the ability to empower people. This is the reason why I want to not only learn how to use technology in an education setting; I also want to improve the lives of students with leadership. I believe that the educational technology leadership program at George Washington University is the only program that perfectly meshes the two together. In my opinion, human performance is the key to learning. However, it seems as though education sometimes focuses on the information that needs to be taught instead of the outcomes. Dr. Watkins publication highlighted this theory in previous work by Robert Mager. Watkins (2010) stated instructional designers should move beyond determining what instructors should teach; rather, they should focus on understanding what learners should be able to do as a result of the instruction. The MIT is particularly used to test patient s memory in situations where a brain injury is in question, the results in performance are compared to standardized scores of their peers. There is an inverse relationship between the amount of memory target items and performance: as the number of items the subject was exposed to increased their performance significantly decreased (Komori 2016). Does previous expose to the MIT and thus previous exposure to other target items account for the decrease in number of correct items?
