Media Violence And The Media Essay
Exposure to the media violence may be especially problematic in late adolescence. Television and
other media play a major role in adolescent socialization and identity development by providing
perspectives, values, ideologies, and behavior models (Arnett G., Roberts D. et al.). The socializing
role of television in particular may be amplified by the large amount of time young people spend with
this medium. Specifically, 18 to 24 year olds spend more time watching television and movies than
younger youth (Center for Research Excellence 2009). In order to understand the violence in media as
a threat to society, an understanding of why and how violent media cause aggression is vital. In fact,
psychological theories that explain why media violence is such a threat are now well established.
These theories also explain why the observation of television violence stimulates aggressive behavior
in the observer.
The major concern, a substantial portion of television programs and movies contains violence, defined
as visual portrayals of acts of physical aggression by one human against another (Huesmann, T.). In
this paper, I will investigate the effects of television on society, because it is important to know how
television influences social life. Considerably studies has been written about the effects of television.
It is very difficult to determine them, because television is a manifestation of society. Several studies
have shown that in the long run, habitual exposure to the

The Addiction Of Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is based in the real world, with Greek mythology mixed into
the storyline. Percy, son of Poseidon, must rescue his mother from Hades as well as preventing a feud
from erupting between the Gods on Mount Olympus that would wreak havoc on the Earth. During this
quest Percy Jackson and his friends are invited into the Lotus Hotel and Casino. There they are
engaged in playing games and start to lose track of time, similar to losing oneself in a casino in the
real world. The author of Addiction by Design: Machine Gambling in Las Vegas, Natasha Dow Schull,
researched why casinos were so addicting and the various elements that went into the building of the
casinos in order to keep as many patrons for as long as possible. Casinos are an addicting technology,
they are built for people to step inside and never want to leave. Casinos have been articulated with
concepts of gambling addiction and people s reluctance to step away from the games, whether it is
written in a book or studied in real life. Percy Jackson and his friends are invited into a casino and
before long are addicted to the flashing lights and the winning that the casinos offer, despite the notion
that they are being given thousands of dollars of free stuff, they are already being mind controlled into
not focusing on reality, but simply the games. After traveling for so long, Percy and his friends are too
weary to question the motives of those giving them this gift and take it with

Body Piercings In American Culture
Over the past few decades, body piercings have become a popular form of body art and have been
accepted in the American culture. Society has learned to recognize body piercings as a form of self
expression; however, most employers are not allowing them to be shown in the workplace. Body
piercings serve as a function to stand out from the rest of society. Employees with piercings are
defending their right to express themselves in efforts to make body piercings permitted in the work
place. Even though piercings are becoming mainstream, they are stilled seen as unprofessional in an
office/work setting. Piercings have been a tradition for certain cultures for centuries and are viewed as
a necessary body modification. Egyptians were one of the first to practice body alterations followed
by African and Native American Tribes. Egyptians used piercings to show their wealth and to reveal
their beauty. Others, like Native Americans partook in body piercings as religious rituals as well as to
seem fiercer than their enemies. Today s culture has brought these ... Show more content on

Managers have the authority to create their own dress code that requires every worker to follow. The

factor that would allow an employee to have body piercings. Since the Hindu religion requires a nose
ring, employers are not allowed to force them to take it out. Many religions, on the other hand, are
strongly against body modification. Businesses don t want to risk loosing a customer because an

The Four African Americans Artist
Enslaved as well as free African Americans pursued opportunities to create poetry, paintings,
sculpture, and other forms of artistic self expression. Many, of course, had to create their opportunities
to create. In my paper I will compare and contrast a few artist lives and works of art. The four African
Americans artist I will talk about are Robert S. Duncanson, Edward M. Bannister, Mary Edmonia
Lewis, and Henry Ossawa Tanner three free born and one a freed slave.
The tensions between an art that referred to people s social conditions and an art that transcended race
and class politics are represented by the works of two artists active during the 1860s and 1870s:
sculptor Mary Edmonia Lewis and landscape painter Robert S. Duncanson.
Mary Edmonia Lewis s father was a free African American and her mother a Chippewa Indian. She
was an exhibitor at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876 and was the first African
American and Native American woman in the United Sates to gain widespread recognition as an artist
and also the first African American and Native American in the United States to gain an international
reputation as a sculptor. Lewis studied art at Oberlin College, independently in Boston, Massachusetts,
and among American and British expatriates in Italy. She used the artistic conventions of
neoclassicism to create powerful marble statuary on the subjects of black American emancipation,
female oppression, and Native Americans. Lewis s work is

Critical Analysis Of The Mead-Freeman Debate
Nature versus Nurture Controversy: Critical Analysis of The Mead Freeman Debate
Research Topic Outline
In 1983, Derek Freeman challenged Margaret Mead s 1928 ethnographic work Coming of Age in
Samoa, Freeman asserted that Mead s conclusion of adolescent behavior conflicted with important
facts within the social sciences. Freeman s critique sparked an intense controversy in anthropology
regarding the concept of nature versus nurture. Freeman claimed that Boasians insisted on separating
cultural determinism (nurture) from biological determinism (nature). Thus, various academic writings
emerged in support of one concept over the latter. Even though, most modern day scholars support
both cultural determinism and biological determinism in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The articles range from claims for bio anthropology to Mead protagonist who dispute the claims
suggested by Freeman. Moreover, Caton s work is a source for all publications relating to the Samoa
controversy and the issues that were raised in anthropology as a result of it. Furthermore, Caton s
work provides a guideline for understanding the various works produced by scholars because of the
controversy, and the impact these works as well as the primary works of Mead and Freeman had on
anthropology, other disciplines, and public opinion.

1983 Margaret Mead and Samoa: The Making and Unmaking of an Anthropological Myth.
Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard University Press.
Derek Freeman in his work Margaret Mead and Samoa: The Making and Unmaking of an
Anthropological Myth, discusses Margaret Mead s fieldwork in Samoa in 1925 under the
recommendation of her then professor Franz Boaz. Freeman maintains that the conclusion reached by
Mead, that stresses associated with adolescence in the United States and other areas had cultural not
biological causes, is wrong. Freeman s work complies the evidence Freeman believes supports his
claim that the conclusion reached by Mead was mistaken. Derek Freeman states that upon starting his
field work in the islands of Western Samoa, he considered himself a cultural determinist. However,
after two years within the field, he found that much of the work written by Mead in eastern

Essay The United States Must Abandon Nuclear Power
The United States Must Abandon Nuclear Power
The United States must re examine many policies previously accepted as reasonable, especially its
own national energy policy. As the largest overall and per capita energy consumer in the world, the
U.S. needs to decide upon a reasonable source of energy for the foreseeable future, especially since its
energy needs will increase dramatically during that time. With political instability likely to remain the
norm in the Middle East, oil continues to be an energy source of questionable reliability; in addition,
current estimates of worldwide reserves suggest we may in fact run out of oil entirely in the next fifty
years. Natural gas reserves are in fairly short supply too, and costs limit its ... Show more content on

The origins of nuclear power, in fact, should be enough to give one pause; fission reactions (albeit
uncontrolled ones) were originally intended to be used as weapons: the weapon, of course, being the
atomic bomb. The nuclear program began in earnest when Einstein himself, afraid that Hitler had a
team working on such a weapon, wrote to President Roosevelt to inform him that such a weapon
might be possible to build (Shrader Frechette 7). The development of the A bomb by the Manhattan
Project, its use in Japan and the effect on World War II are all well documented. (After the initial test
at Alamagordo, New Mexico, one of the bomb s major developers, J. Robert Oppenheimer, was
rumored to whisper: I am become death, the destroyer of worlds, when he saw the level of destruction
his new creation had achieved.) Less well known are the recommendations made by a panel of
Manhattan Project scientists about the post war uses of nuclear energy. The panel s report concluded,
The development of fission piles solely for the production of power for ordinary commercial use does
not appear economically sound nor advisable from the point of view of preserving natural resources ;
in other words, the first panel of experts on commercial nuclear energy and its resources felt uranium

Physics Of The Jsx 3222 Analyzer
The JSX 3222 analyzer is an energy dispersive fluorescent X ray spectrometer developed to analyze
cadmium (Cd) included in plastic and the electric wire film material, etc. promptly. The elements
range that can be measured is from sodium (Na) to uranium (U). Liquid nitrogen cooling for the high
performance detector is needed only during the analyzing time. The vacuum and atmosphere are
switched to the measurement atmosphere by the one button operation. When X rays (primary X rays)
are illuminated from the X ray tube to the specimen, fluorescence X rays having wavelengths
(energies) peculiar to the constituent elements of the specimen are produced from the elements.
There are two methods to investigate the energies. The first method is Qualitative analysis which can
be made by investigating the wavelengths of the fluorescence X rays and the other method is
quantitative analysis by investigating the X ray dose. One is for optical separation to them and the
other is to use the energy separation characteristic of the X ray detector. The former is called the
wavelength dispersive method an: the latter the energy dispersive method. The element analyzer
employs the latter method. As seen from the figure, since the energy dispersive X ray spectrometer has
no moving parts uses a simple optical system, its structure is simple and compact. And since the
detector can be installed the specimen, the X ray solid angle of collection can be made large, thus
presenting many features such as

The French Of Religious Identity Essay
Have you ever wondered why the French are so private about their religion? It is because the French
are required to keep their religious identity out of the public space. The French call it laïcité or
secularism but it means much more than just the separation of church and state. It guarantees the
freedom from religion in the public domain so that no one is oppressed by religion and everyone is
seen equally. Muslims, living in France, are being treated unequally by the state while they support the
catholic majority. This seems hypocritical coming from a nation that prides itself on being secular. The
hypocrisy of Frances outdated laws of secularism and deep catholic roots cause discrimination and
oppression of Muslim identity while aiding catholic organizations.
Frances transition from a monarchical society with close relations to the catholic church into a secular
republic dates to the French revolution in 1789. After a dispute between the Vatican and the French
state, they came to an agreement known as the concordat. This arrangement would keep the church
under state tutelage but leave it alone if they kept to themselves. It wasn t until 1905 when the law of
separation was ratified that the church and state would be completely independent. Laïcité at its core is
considered the belief that religion is a private matter . In this manner, the republic would adopt laïcité
as its national religion and no longer recognize, remunerate, or subsidize any other religion. However,

Free Trade Vs. Protectionism
Introduction
At first, I will establish the differences between the concepts of free trade and protectionism, the
benefits of each of the different policies and cases in which such policies are used, as well as conflicts
generated by those political decisions. Then, discuss the terms of international competitiveness so,
with both approaches, I can establish a conclusion to the question.
Free trade vs. Protectionism
General Introduction to the concepts
The free trade are the existing agreements between various countries to significantly reduce trade
barriers among participants of the agreement.
Its antithesis is the protectionism policy, used by governments to protect domestic products, limiting
the entry of foreign products causing them to be more expensive through custom duties.
What are the benefits of using those policies? (Baena, 2010)
Free trade:
Increase efficiency of production factors. Specializing in goods which can report a real comparative
advantage over other countries make that country to increase its production possibilities. Increasing
wealth and employment.
Increase and development of competition. Due to the entry of foreign competitors into the domestic
market, local companies have to become more efficient, favouring prices down and increase the
quality and performance of their products.
Greater variety and quantity of goods and services. Without the international trade certain products
would not exist or would be scarce.
Achieving economies of scale.

Examples Of Rhetorics In Fast Food Nation
When using rhetoric tenets, writers can create arguments that are very effective or ineffective at
persuading an audience. This is seen in Eric Schlosser s book Fast Food Nation in which he uses the
three rhetoric tenets to better assure his claim of fast food but also use the rhetoric tenets ineffectively
in an argument. By using these rhetorical ideas, his writing is very persuasive at points but also left
unsuccessful at other times. The use of ethos in Fast Food Nation is seen many times to help Schlosser
appeal as credible and trustworthy while ensuring that he knows what he is talking about which adds
persuasive flow to the argument. One use of effective ethos is when Schlosser talks about the
McDonald s Corporation taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This takes away from the main impact of the claims and doesn t help to strengthen his argument. His
use of ethos strengthens his arguments throughout times in the book but some of the research makes
his claims longer and harder to follow which takes away from the main argument he is trying to
portray. Schlosser s use of logos is also seen in a variety of ways in the book. During the argument
about advertisements and corporate sponsors for school materials in school districts, he states, A 1998
study of these teaching materials by the Consumers Union found that 80 percent were biased,
providing students with incomplete or slanted information that favored the sponsor s products and
views (55). Schlosser s use of logos is effective because the facts and statistics giving an
overwhelming factor on how biased fast food corporations are towards the youth, even when giving
them school supplies. Schlosser uses this example because it shows that fast food corporations want to
persuade children at a young age, which adds sympathy for the youth and hatred towards the big fast
food chains. However, there are times when Schlosser s use of logos does not completely help the
argument. When talking about sanitation crews at meat packing plants, Schlosser looks to build an
argument on how sanitation jobs are unsafe for the workers. He states, Although official statistics are
not kept, the death rate among slaughterhouse sanitation crews is extraordinarily high

Major Themes Of The Mahabhira s Mahbharata
In order to explain why Yudhisthira is tested and not his four brothers, one needs to understand the
major theme of the Mahbharata. In one of the final scenes of the Mahbharta Yudhisthira proves
himself and is rewarded with life after life. The best way to understand the importance of Yudhisthira
and his dog is to first summarize the story. Then the story can be interpreted to show why this story
exemplifies the major theme of the rest of the epic.
Despite the complexity and length of the Mahabharta, it seems to have one over arching theme. This
theme is dharma or more specifically fulfilling you dharmatic duty. I think that dharma includes both
the themes of duty and loyalty. Any other presented themes in the Mahabharta seem to relate ... Show

Krishna calls Arjuna to take up his arms to fight and helps him realize the answer to his question of
the morality of taking up arms against one s kin.
The thing about Dharma is that it follows your status or your duty in life. This is important to
differentiate because there is a difference between the dharma of a warrior and the dharma of a king.
While in a traditional sense, dharma simply is an individual s responsibility to fulfill their duties. The
duties of a warrior and king are vastly different and so dharma can have diverse ramifications to its
application on an individual s life. A person s dharma is what is right for that specific person to do but
what is right for them might be an affront to someone else s dharma. A range of factors such as caste,
wealth or heritage combine to determine what constitutes dharma for an individual. A good
interpretation of this is that in a general sense dharma of the Kshatirya is somewhat hypocritical. In a
general sense, one s dharmatic duty in society to condemn violence and taking of a life. However, the
specific dharma of the warrior caste demands responsibility for the kingdom and therefore requires as
a duty the destruction of enemies. The explanation of this dilemma is given extensively in the dialogue
between Krishna and Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita. Where Arjuna, a hero, doubts fighting his cousins
before consulting Krishna. Krishna explains that there is a higher destiny for Arjuna and to choose

Eros Turnannos Ethos
Eros Turnannos , by E.A. Robinson is a lyric poem consisting of six stanzas. It tells a story of an aging
wife trying to keep her marriage afloat with her worthless husband. The plot seems to be, regret and
misleading love. She fears him, and will always ask/what fated her to choose him; .(Stanza 1, line1 2)
The wife is willing to lead a life of deception to hold onto her marriage. The wife chooses to hold onto
this doomed marriage even after knowing that her husband has betrayed her. She also knows that their
love for each other is essentially a self created illusion. She tries to maintain a positive image of her
husband, from pride and need, and all while in the public eye. Her pride assuages her almost, as if it

Cystic fibrosis Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a lethal autosomal recessive disorder with a clinical incidence of

advances in enzymatic and antibiotic therapy have greatly improved the life expectancy of patients
afflicted with CF3. Currently, the median age of Canadian CF patients is 50 years2.

individuals, lending to its association with life threatening illnesses10. In addition to pulmonary

Blessed Be the Time: Changes in the Natural World as a Result of the Fall
The differences between prelapsarian and postlapsarian life as it pertains to mankind must be stark.
The Fall would lose all meaning otherwise, were the consequences of the original sin to be slight.
Everything that Adam and Eve had experienced must change so that they could comprehend the
vastness of their transgression. This would include everything of a spiritual nature: their relationship
with God, the angels, their ability to get into Heaven. However, as a fallen human, the reader might

In his infancy in Eden, Adam is presented with all the animals which instinctively subjugate
themselves before him. Not only is he clearly meant by God to be superior the animals, he also seems
to have some deeper knowledge of their essence, shown by how he named them as they passed and
understood/Their nature: with such knowledge God endued/[His] sudden apprehension. (VIII.352
354) Similar to how the fertile earth of Eden provided for Adam and Eve all they wanted, the animals
too were at Man s beck and call in the prelapsarian world. Just as the earth seems to have turned
against Man after the fall, so do the animals. The special relationship Adam shared with the animal
kingdom is dissolved, the animals ceased to stand much in awe/Of Man but fled him or with count
nance grim/Glared on him passing. (X.712 714) Animals were now not only scared of Man but more
importantly began to actively menace him, whereas Man knew no physical menace in his prelapsarian
state. This is because the concept of death has been introduced to the postlapsarian world, starting
with the lower animals. In addition to threatening Man, animals began to see each other as predator
and prey. This new predatory relationship between animals also portends a predatory relationship
between people, when Milton compares those who eventually take over the Church to grevious

Everyone has a favorite animal as well as a animal that they can not stand. Some animals are used for

problem. Pit bull have a reputation based on how majority of their owners have taught them. They do
not have a good reputation. They were only trying to please the ones who they thought loved them.
They did not know what they were doing was wrong. They thought attacking people is what they were

Pit bulls are not the only breed that will attack. You have to provoke or command them to do so. If
they do not have a good reason to attack you that is a problem and it should be handled by authority.
You should not handle the situation by yourself because it can cause severe injuries. Most of the time

looks promising. What is HIE? Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) share patient information
between health care providers in order to improve the speed, quality, safety, and cost of patient care.
By sharing data, physicians improve their decision making, as well as reduce readmissions, avoid
medication errors, improve diagnoses, and decrease duplicate testing. Aside from these benefits, the
use of electronic data requires healthcare providers to standardize their data. There are three forms of
exchanges the direct exchange, query based exchange, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This service, once the patient is identified, searches for the existence of records within the exchange.
This form of information retrieval would be very helpful to the care of a patient, most specifically in
the case of emergency care (Morris, 2012). The Emergency Dept could begin a query at the time of
triage to build a problem list, allergy list, medication list, current physicians and ongoing treatments.
The costs associated with developing a record locator service, and the questionable sustainability in a
market lacking interoperability between the available EHRs, have impeded the development of this
form of exchange (Rudin,2014).It has been difficult for HIEs using this format to reach their tipping
point to become self sustaining. There are several determinants driving the success of Query based
HIOs the need for a broader set of clinical data, more diverse and high volumes of data, obtaining
relevant users that need the database, and utilization rates (Morris,

The Phenomenon Of Stereotypes
The phenomenon of superheroes has been around for many years, and often features many examples
of strength, courage, bravery and power. Their popularity among society has led to many studies in
which academia examines the portrayals of these heroines and the impact that they have through
media on children and society today. Individuals argue that the superheroes lack an equal share of
gender representation and portrayal in texts and are often nonexistent altogether. However, others also
argue that there are exceptions and that constant advocacy and knowledge of gender misrepresentation
and stereotypes among media can account for change. These different arguments can be seen through
a number of pieces including, Sexed Up Starfire Doesn t Sit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Authors, publishers and other academia such as Michelle Lee and Carol A. Stabile, are two examples
of individuals who strongly advocate for the lack of female representation and the overpowering
gender roles among superheroes and heroines today. These women argue that the lessons and body
images portrayed in the phenomena of superheroes are disrespectful and degrading towards women.
Michelle Lee gives a specific example, referencing the reboot of character Starfire from the Teen Titan
series. Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference
to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes
on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the
sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her
daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not
talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). As Lee continues on to
discuss the conversation between herself and her daughter, she notes that the old Starfire, respectfully
dressed and ready to spring into action was a much better superhero and that she s a great role model.
She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s
article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that
the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. This
notion goes to show that the messages of beauty and the body images in these texts can be decoded in
a number of different ways, some of which can teach children positive messages and some of which
can be negative. Lee s daughter is

Non Profit hospitals can often assist potential patients to care for the uninsured in their community
(Kovner Knickman, 2008). Disadvantages for non profit hospitals is they are not owned by anyone;
meaning that some non profit hospitals may not be able to afford all of the latest technology or
sometimes offering the cost effective services when operating in lower income areas. Non Profit
hospitals have higher operating costs because of a high amount of uncompensated care and the
charitable component of their operations (Kovner Knickman, 2008). One of the Florida s largest
hospitals is in Lakeland, Florida. Lakeland Regional Medical Center (LRMC) is a not for profit
healthcare facility that is licensed for 851 beds and has served Lakeland and the surrounding

A Critical Analysis Of Into The Woods
Into the Woods is a famous musical. It premiered on Broadway in 1987 and has been performed over
700 times before ending in 1989. The musical is a collection of fairytales from authors Jacob and
Wilhelm Grimm and Charles Perrault and put together in a story with music and lyrics written by
Stephen Sondheim and dialogue written by James Lapine. The musical incorporates characters from
fairytales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel and
recreates their stories in one storyline. Into the Woods follows a baker and his wife who have a desire
to have children and start a family. They soon learn that their inability to have children is a curse
brought upon by a witch. Meanwhile, characters from different fairytales have other personal goals
they want to achieve as well. Through certain circumstances, each respective character gets their
wishes granted and lived happily ever after, only for consequences to occur afterwards. The story is
set in a setting similar to the Middle Ages, with kingdoms, farmers and a world filled with magic. The
story is another fairytale that brings a number of fairytales together and brings in different worlds to
merge into one to tell one unique story. One of the main themes of Into the Woods is the idea of
having a happy ending. After the protagonists go through a tough journey, a sad beginning to a strange
experience, a happy ending is often the best result. After finding the answers one is looking for,

The Symbolism of the Purse in Theft by Katherine Anne Porter
The purse in Katherine Anne Porters short story, Theft , is linked to several episodes and in each event
reveals the main character s inner personality. The first episode is her encounters with three men. The
second event is the theft of her purse. Lastly, the protagonist confronts the thief. In each episode the
main character displays her intimate personality.
After an afternoon cocktail party, a Latin man named Camilo escorts her to the subway station through
the rain. Camilo makes several gracious gestures to try and pay for her, but she refuses, as she is afraid
he may fall on the rainy steps when returning. She states that he made an effort to small courtesies but
ignored the larger and more troublesome ones. Here we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She then makes reference to a letter that had made her mind up for her. This indicates that she knows
she is indecisive. Roger comments on her beautiful purse and she responds that is was a birthday
present and that she likes it. Here we see she is proud to own something that someone else admires.
Her third encounter is with a man with whom she wrote an act for one of his plays. He complains
about his financial situation and shows her the new rug he bought. She then starts thinking of her
empty purse and how he owes her fifty dollars for the act she wrote for him. He downplays her writing
and says her stuff was no better than mine, and she says, let it go. Later we see that she is used to
letting things go.
The next event is the theft of her purse. While she is in the bathtub the janitress knocks and comes in,
needing to inspect the radiators. When she gets out of the bathtub to get a cigarette from her purse, it is
gone. She knows that the janitress has taken the purse. Her purse made of gold cloth symbolizes all
property. The purse represents the difference between the haves and the have nots. As she is going
over whether or not to confront the thief she thinks it would cause a great deal of ridiculous
excitement. She again decides to let it go.
With let it go in mind, one may believe that blew the lid off the kettle. She decides to confront the
thief and when the janitress

The Pros And Cons Of Racism
According to a teacher at Louisiana s top public high school, the n word is no longer racist and has
utterly lost its negative connotation due to overuse. His students (and millions of Americans) seriously
beg to differ.
According to the Times Picayune, the Benjamin Franklin High School teacher identified in the video
as Coach Ryan got into a heated exchange with one of his black students about why he is entitled, as a
white man, to use the racial slur. A video of the argument was originally posted on Twitter but has
since been protected.
That s racist as sh*t, the student tells Coach Ryan. Why can you not understand that it s racist for a
white man to say n****r to a black man? It s f***ing racist.
Raw Story reported that the student asks a white classmate if he would ever use the n word and the
classmate affirms that he wouldn t, after which the student opens the question to the entire class. They
agree that they would not say the n word. Coach Ryan then proceeds to dig himself into a deeper hole
while giving his students a disappointing lesson in white denial.
It s a word that s used so many times that it doesn t mean its original meaning, he insists. The word
has been commoditized so that anyone can use it, and it s not a negative connotation.
Not about to indulge an outright falsehood, the student tells Coach Ryan that the word would
absolutely have negative connotations if he used it it would be racist. Then, perhaps sadly inevitably,
the teacher

And Then There Were None Essay
Agatha Christie, author of And Then There Were None used characterization and internal and external
conflicts to portray the theme that when a person has done wrong, there is no way to escape
punishment. Christie creatively developed these elements in And Then There Were None to teach her
readers this lesson. Christie s creativity and success as a murder mystery writer is why she is still
considered the Queen of Mystery . Agatha Christie was born September 15, 1890 as Agatha Mary
Clarissa Miller in Torquay, England, a town on the coast of Devon. After her father died, Christie was
brought up in an upper middle class household by her single mother. Being the youngest of three she

He cannot bear the thought that people are walking around and not receiving any punishment for
whatever wrong they may have done. Eventually his need to kill and serve justice overwhelms him
and he decides to take matters into his own hands. Wargrave did not remain static through all of the
events of And Then There Were None. At first when he was alive he did seem to want to help figure
out who the murderer was. By the end of the novel the readers learn about his true nature and how the
whole thing was planned out by him. He carried out this psychological experiment to satisfy his own
needs. All of the childish things he did such as the nursery rhyme and soldier figure that seem like
they were toys, makes it like nothing but a game for him.
The major conflict of And Then There Were None is the external, society vs. man conflict between the
guests and the murderer (Wargrave). The murderer plays with the guests minds while killing them off
one by one. The guests are trying to survive and find out who is responsible for the murders.
Ten guests were invited to Soldier Island all for different reasons such as jobs, visiting friends, etc.
When they arrived, their host was not there yet and they were told he would be delayed for at least
another day. Each guest went to their room to prepare for dinner and it was right after dinner when the
guests first noticed the ten soldier figures on the table. When they saw the figures they thought it was
some cute or childish idea to go along with the nursery

In the book Buffalo Jones Forty Years of Adventure written by Charles Jones, Jones describes the
Plain Indians as, The most tenacious of life than any race I have ever encountered. The Plain Natives
consisting primarily of Blackfoot, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa, Lakota, saw the bison a sacred
animal because it provided almost everything they needed to survive. A good bison kill would weigh
about 2,000 pounds, 800 pounds of which was good to eat. The natives could use the bladder and
stomach to store water and keep meet fresh, the hides were used as cover for teepees and the various
bones as weapons. The Plain Natives believed that the bison were created by the Great Spirit for the
soul purpose of keeping their tribes alive, making them cherish the bison as a literal life line. In Jones
s book, Jones depicts his encounter with Chief Big Indian of the Cheyenne tribe. In this way when
Jones shows Chief Big Indian where a herd of bison was, Chief Big Indian was ecstatic with
excitement, and signaled the rest of his hunters that he had found a herd. Within half an hour, 100
Indians came from miles away to the signaled spot. Every able bodied man from the tribe was out
hunting for bison. This shows how important the bison were for the natives. When a single herd of
bison was sighted it was so important that every man in the tribe would leave their wives and children
at risk to hunt down the herd. During the mid 1800 s, the American frontiersmen were

The School s Process For Financial Expenditures Not Being...
Introduction Edwin M Wells Middle School, in Houston, Texas, is part of the Spring ISD. The school,
in 2015, reports enrolling 1,165 students in grades six through eight, and it has 69 teachers on staff.
The problem is the school s process for financial expenditures not being well aligned with students
needs. By streamlining the process for financial expenditures, it will ensure the expenditures fulfill
students needs efficiently and appropriately. The impact the problem is having is that when the lessons
are not fully supplemented with the required supplies there is a lack of engagement in the classroom.
Therefore, the system must be streamlined in order to fulfill student needs. Methodology and Results

In the observations of the classrooms, we had a chance to observe a lesson that had the correct
supplies. In this classroom setting, a large number of the students appeared to be engaged and were
able to answer questions easily. The students interacted better in the class when the supplies were
present because they were able to have visual and hands on references to engage the students. We also
observed a classroom that did not have the supplies needed and found that a large percentage of the
students were not engaged, and a few had their heads down on their desks. In this class, when the
teacher asked questions only three students participated and the rest did not. During both classroom
visits we made sure to pick similar teachers that were teaching the same subject with similar lesson
plans. We began to see the effect of not having supplies versus having a well supplied classroom. We
then realized that the school s process for financial expenditures is not well aligned with students
needs and was affecting the end product, which provides the engagement and educational needs of the
students. If we could repeat this process, we would have tested more classrooms to see if these
observations continued. We would test to see if supplies received on time helped keep students
engaged, and increased successful learning by aiding in student

The Consequences Of The Atomic Bombs
The not so wild 1950s frontier were vastly sprawling lands comprised of gorgeous geology. The dry
ecosystem inspires carnivorous creatures to roam the desert in search of their next meal. The sun
bleeds into cascading mountains within the day, blurring the horizon with harmonious colors, leaving
no doubt of natures undisturbed beauty. Those moments, were then interrupted with a blinding light.
An accession of a mushroom cloud followed behind, indicating the destruction of all in total
annihilation. The aftermath leading to the extinction of life as we know it. The explosion described
wasn t naturally occurring, but a demonstration of the United States fission weapons testing program.
The military tested numerous atomic bombs in Nevada s deserts which could be seen as an everyday
occurrence, desensitizing those around it. The testing stopped and slowed down into continuous
looming threat. The atomic bomb was so terrifyingly devastating that many artists such as: Ed
Ruschas Atomic Princess, Jack Malottes The End, and Ken Lisbournes Cape Thompson! captured in
painting the physical and metaphorical repercussion during the aftermath that I d like to discuss. First
up is Ed Ruschas Atomic Princess, which I interpreted as the simplest in terms in painting style

  • 2. Media Violence And The Media Essay Exposure to the media violence may be especially problematic in late adolescence. Television and other media play a major role in adolescent socialization and identity development by providing perspectives, values, ideologies, and behavior models (Arnett G., Roberts D. et al.). The socializing role of television in particular may be amplified by the large amount of time young people spend with this medium. Specifically, 18 to 24 year olds spend more time watching television and movies than younger youth (Center for Research Excellence 2009). In order to understand the violence in media as a threat to society, an understanding of why and how violent media cause aggression is vital. In fact, psychological theories that explain why media violence is such a threat are now well established. These theories also explain why the observation of television violence stimulates aggressive behavior in the observer. The major concern, a substantial portion of television programs and movies contains violence, defined as visual portrayals of acts of physical aggression by one human against another (Huesmann, T.). In this paper, I will investigate the effects of television on society, because it is important to know how television influences social life. Considerably studies has been written about the effects of television. It is very difficult to determine them, because television is a manifestation of society. Several studies have shown that in the long run, habitual exposure to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Addiction Of Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is based in the real world, with Greek mythology mixed into the storyline. Percy, son of Poseidon, must rescue his mother from Hades as well as preventing a feud from erupting between the Gods on Mount Olympus that would wreak havoc on the Earth. During this quest Percy Jackson and his friends are invited into the Lotus Hotel and Casino. There they are engaged in playing games and start to lose track of time, similar to losing oneself in a casino in the real world. The author of Addiction by Design: Machine Gambling in Las Vegas, Natasha Dow Schull, researched why casinos were so addicting and the various elements that went into the building of the casinos in order to keep as many patrons for as long as possible. Casinos are an addicting technology, they are built for people to step inside and never want to leave. Casinos have been articulated with concepts of gambling addiction and people s reluctance to step away from the games, whether it is written in a book or studied in real life. Percy Jackson and his friends are invited into a casino and before long are addicted to the flashing lights and the winning that the casinos offer, despite the notion that they are being given thousands of dollars of free stuff, they are already being mind controlled into not focusing on reality, but simply the games. After traveling for so long, Percy and his friends are too weary to question the motives of those giving them this gift and take it with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Body Piercings In American Culture Over the past few decades, body piercings have become a popular form of body art and have been accepted in the American culture. Society has learned to recognize body piercings as a form of self expression; however, most employers are not allowing them to be shown in the workplace. Body piercings serve as a function to stand out from the rest of society. Employees with piercings are defending their right to express themselves in efforts to make body piercings permitted in the work place. Even though piercings are becoming mainstream, they are stilled seen as unprofessional in an office/work setting. Piercings have been a tradition for certain cultures for centuries and are viewed as a necessary body modification. Egyptians were one of the first to practice body alterations followed by African and Native American Tribes. Egyptians used piercings to show their wealth and to reveal their beauty. Others, like Native Americans partook in body piercings as religious rituals as well as to seem fiercer than their enemies. Today s culture has brought these ... The law only defends discrimination of race, color, religion, age, nationality and gender, so suing a company because the employee didn t follow the rules will not end in a win. Religion is the only factor that would allow an employee to have body piercings. Since the Hindu religion requires a nose ring, employers are not allowed to force them to take it out. Many religions, on the other hand, are strongly against body modification. Businesses don t want to risk loosing a customer because an employee offends them by their piercings. • 5. The Four African Americans Artist Enslaved as well as free African Americans pursued opportunities to create poetry, paintings, sculpture, and other forms of artistic self expression. Many, of course, had to create their opportunities to create. In my paper I will compare and contrast a few artist lives and works of art. The four African Americans artist I will talk about are Robert S. Duncanson, Edward M. Bannister, Mary Edmonia Lewis, and Henry Ossawa Tanner three free born and one a freed slave. The tensions between an art that referred to people s social conditions and an art that transcended race and class politics are represented by the works of two artists active during the 1860s and 1870s: sculptor Mary Edmonia Lewis and landscape painter Robert S. Duncanson. Mary Edmonia Lewis s father was a free African American and her mother a Chippewa Indian. She was an exhibitor at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876 and was the first African American and Native American woman in the United Sates to gain widespread recognition as an artist and also the first African American and Native American in the United States to gain an international reputation as a sculptor. Lewis studied art at Oberlin College, independently in Boston, Massachusetts, and among American and British expatriates in Italy. She used the artistic conventions of neoclassicism to create powerful marble statuary on the subjects of black American emancipation, female oppression, and Native Americans. Lewis s work is ... • 6. Critical Analysis Of The Mead-Freeman Debate Nature versus Nurture Controversy: Critical Analysis of The Mead Freeman Debate Research Topic Outline In 1983, Derek Freeman challenged Margaret Mead s 1928 ethnographic work Coming of Age in Samoa, Freeman asserted that Mead s conclusion of adolescent behavior conflicted with important facts within the social sciences. Freeman s critique sparked an intense controversy in anthropology regarding the concept of nature versus nurture. Freeman claimed that Boasians insisted on separating cultural determinism (nurture) from biological determinism (nature). Thus, various academic writings emerged in support of one concept over the latter. Even though, most modern day scholars support both cultural determinism and biological determinism in ... Moreover, Caton s work is a source for all publications relating to the Samoa controversy and the issues that were raised in anthropology as a result of it. Furthermore, Caton s work provides a guideline for understanding the various works produced by scholars because of the controversy, and the impact these works as well as the primary works of Mead and Freeman had on anthropology, other disciplines, and public opinion. Freeman, Derek 1983 Margaret Mead and Samoa: The Making and Unmaking of an Anthropological Myth. Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard University Press. Derek Freeman in his work Margaret Mead and Samoa: The Making and Unmaking of an Anthropological Myth, discusses Margaret Mead s fieldwork in Samoa in 1925 under the recommendation of her then professor Franz Boaz. Freeman maintains that the conclusion reached by Mead, that stresses associated with adolescence in the United States and other areas had cultural not biological causes, is wrong. Freeman s work complies the evidence Freeman believes supports his claim that the conclusion reached by Mead was mistaken. Derek Freeman states that upon starting his field work in the islands of Western Samoa, he considered himself a cultural determinist. • 7. Essay The United States Must Abandon Nuclear Power The United States Must Abandon Nuclear Power The United States must re examine many policies previously accepted as reasonable, especially its own national energy policy. As the largest overall and per capita energy consumer in the world, the U.S. needs to decide upon a reasonable source of energy for the foreseeable future, especially since its energy needs will increase dramatically during that time. With political instability likely to remain the norm in the Middle East, oil continues to be an energy source of questionable reliability; in addition, current estimates of worldwide reserves suggest we may in fact run out of oil entirely in the next fifty years. Natural gas reserves are in fairly short supply too, and costs limit its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The origins of nuclear power, in fact, should be enough to give one pause; fission reactions (albeit uncontrolled ones) were originally intended to be used as weapons: the weapon, of course, being the atomic bomb. The nuclear program began in earnest when Einstein himself, afraid that Hitler had a team working on such a weapon, wrote to President Roosevelt to inform him that such a weapon might be possible to build (Shrader Frechette 7). The development of the A bomb by the Manhattan Project, its use in Japan and the effect on World War II are all well documented. (After the initial test at Alamagordo, New Mexico, one of the bomb s major developers, J. Robert Oppenheimer, was rumored to whisper: I am become death, the destroyer of worlds, when he saw the level of destruction his new creation had achieved.) Less well known are the recommendations made by a panel of Manhattan Project scientists about the post war uses of nuclear energy. The panel s report concluded, The development of fission piles solely for the production of power for ordinary commercial use does not appear economically sound nor advisable from the point of view of preserving natural resources ; in other words, the first panel of experts on commercial nuclear energy and its resources felt uranium was too expensive to waste on ... • 8. Physics Of The Jsx 3222 Analyzer The JSX 3222 analyzer is an energy dispersive fluorescent X ray spectrometer developed to analyze cadmium (Cd) included in plastic and the electric wire film material, etc. promptly. The elements range that can be measured is from sodium (Na) to uranium (U). Liquid nitrogen cooling for the high performance detector is needed only during the analyzing time. The vacuum and atmosphere are switched to the measurement atmosphere by the one button operation. When X rays (primary X rays) are illuminated from the X ray tube to the specimen, fluorescence X rays having wavelengths (energies) peculiar to the constituent elements of the specimen are produced from the elements. There are two methods to investigate the energies. The first method is Qualitative analysis which can be made by investigating the wavelengths of the fluorescence X rays and the other method is quantitative analysis by investigating the X ray dose. One is for optical separation to them and the other is to use the energy separation characteristic of the X ray detector. The former is called the wavelength dispersive method an: the latter the energy dispersive method. The element analyzer employs the latter method. As seen from the figure, since the energy dispersive X ray spectrometer has no moving parts uses a simple optical system, its structure is simple and compact. And since the detector can be installed the specimen, the X ray solid angle of collection can be made large, thus presenting many features such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The French Of Religious Identity Essay Have you ever wondered why the French are so private about their religion? It is because the French are required to keep their religious identity out of the public space. The French call it laïcité or secularism but it means much more than just the separation of church and state. It guarantees the freedom from religion in the public domain so that no one is oppressed by religion and everyone is seen equally. Muslims, living in France, are being treated unequally by the state while they support the catholic majority. This seems hypocritical coming from a nation that prides itself on being secular. The hypocrisy of Frances outdated laws of secularism and deep catholic roots cause discrimination and oppression of Muslim identity while aiding catholic organizations. Frances transition from a monarchical society with close relations to the catholic church into a secular republic dates to the French revolution in 1789. After a dispute between the Vatican and the French state, they came to an agreement known as the concordat. This arrangement would keep the church under state tutelage but leave it alone if they kept to themselves. It wasn t until 1905 when the law of separation was ratified that the church and state would be completely independent. Laïcité at its core is considered the belief that religion is a private matter . In this manner, the republic would adopt laïcité as its national religion and no longer recognize, remunerate, or subsidize any other religion. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Free Trade Vs. Protectionism Introduction At first, I will establish the differences between the concepts of free trade and protectionism, the benefits of each of the different policies and cases in which such policies are used, as well as conflicts generated by those political decisions. Then, discuss the terms of international competitiveness so, with both approaches, I can establish a conclusion to the question. Free trade vs. Protectionism General Introduction to the concepts The free trade are the existing agreements between various countries to significantly reduce trade barriers among participants of the agreement. Its antithesis is the protectionism policy, used by governments to protect domestic products, limiting the entry of foreign products causing them to be more expensive through custom duties. What are the benefits of using those policies? (Baena, 2010) Free trade: Increase efficiency of production factors. Specializing in goods which can report a real comparative advantage over other countries make that country to increase its production possibilities. Increasing wealth and employment. Increase and development of competition. Due to the entry of foreign competitors into the domestic market, local companies have to become more efficient, favouring prices down and increase the quality and performance of their products. Greater variety and quantity of goods and services. Without the international trade certain products would not exist or would be scarce. Achieving economies of scale. ... • 11. Examples Of Rhetorics In Fast Food Nation When using rhetoric tenets, writers can create arguments that are very effective or ineffective at persuading an audience. This is seen in Eric Schlosser s book Fast Food Nation in which he uses the three rhetoric tenets to better assure his claim of fast food but also use the rhetoric tenets ineffectively in an argument. By using these rhetorical ideas, his writing is very persuasive at points but also left unsuccessful at other times. The use of ethos in Fast Food Nation is seen many times to help Schlosser appeal as credible and trustworthy while ensuring that he knows what he is talking about which adds persuasive flow to the argument. His use of ethos strengthens his arguments throughout times in the book but some of the research makes his claims longer and harder to follow which takes away from the main argument he is trying to portray. Schlosser s use of logos is also seen in a variety of ways in the book. During the argument about advertisements and corporate sponsors for school materials in school districts, he states, A 1998 study of these teaching materials by the Consumers Union found that 80 percent were biased, providing students with incomplete or slanted information that favored the sponsor s products and views (55). Schlosser s use of logos is effective because the facts and statistics giving an overwhelming factor on how biased fast food corporations are towards the youth, even when giving them school supplies. Schlosser uses this example because it shows that fast food corporations want to persuade children at a young age, which adds sympathy for the youth and hatred towards the big fast food chains. However, there are times when Schlosser s use of logos does not completely help the argument. When talking about sanitation crews at meat packing plants, Schlosser looks to build an argument on how sanitation jobs are unsafe for the workers. In one of the final scenes of the Mahbharta Yudhisthira proves himself and is rewarded with life after life. The best way to understand the importance of Yudhisthira and his dog is to first summarize the story. Then the story can be interpreted to show why this story exemplifies the major theme of the rest of the epic. Krishna calls Arjuna to take up his arms to fight and helps him realize the answer to his question of the morality of taking up arms against one s kin. The thing about Dharma is that it follows your status or your duty in life. This is important to differentiate because there is a difference between the dharma of a warrior and the dharma of a king. While in a traditional sense, dharma simply is an individual s responsibility to fulfill their duties. The duties of a warrior and king are vastly different and so dharma can have diverse ramifications to its application on an individual s life. A person s dharma is what is right for that specific person to do but what is right for them might be an affront to someone else s dharma. A range of factors such as caste, wealth or heritage combine to determine what constitutes dharma for an individual. A good interpretation of this is that in a general sense dharma of the Kshatirya is somewhat hypocritical. In a general sense, one s dharmatic duty in society to condemn violence and taking of a life. However, the specific dharma of the warrior caste demands responsibility for the kingdom and therefore requires as a duty the destruction of enemies. The explanation of this dilemma is given extensively in the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita. Where Arjuna, a hero, doubts fighting his cousins before consulting Krishna. Everything that Adam and Eve had experienced must change so that they could comprehend the vastness of their transgression. This would include everything of a spiritual nature: their relationship with God, the angels, their ability to get into Heaven. (VIII.352 354) Similar to how the fertile earth of Eden provided for Adam and Eve all they wanted, the animals too were at Man s beck and call in the prelapsarian world. Just as the earth seems to have turned against Man after the fall, so do the animals. The special relationship Adam shared with the animal kingdom is dissolved, the animals ceased to stand much in awe/Of Man but fled him or with count nance grim/Glared on him passing. This is because the concept of death has been introduced to the postlapsarian world, starting with the lower animals. In addition to threatening Man, animals began to see each other as predator and prey. This new predatory relationship between animals also portends a predatory relationship between people, when Milton compares those who eventually take over the Church to grevious Wolves (XII.508) who prey on the faithful and subvert God s word. The development has been much slower than expectations, but the future looks promising. What is HIE? Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) share patient information between health care providers in order to improve the speed, quality, safety, and cost of patient care. By sharing data, physicians improve their decision making, as well as reduce readmissions, avoid medication errors, improve diagnoses, and decrease duplicate testing. The costs associated with developing a record locator service, and the questionable sustainability in a market lacking interoperability between the available EHRs, have impeded the development of this form of exchange (Rudin,2014).It has been difficult for HIEs using this format to reach their tipping point to become self sustaining. Individuals argue that the superheroes lack an equal share of gender representation and portrayal in texts and are often nonexistent altogether. Authors, publishers and other academia such as Michelle Lee and Carol A. Stabile, are two examples of individuals who strongly advocate for the lack of female representation and the overpowering gender roles among superheroes and heroines today. These women argue that the lessons and body images portrayed in the phenomena of superheroes are disrespectful and degrading towards women. Michelle Lee gives a specific example, referencing the reboot of character Starfire from the Teen Titan series. Lee points out the differences between the old and revamped Starfire, while making reference to a concern among a large majority of society the children watching and reading these texts. Lee goes on to write about a discussion with her daughter, proving that children are very much aware of the sexualization of these female heroines. When Lee asked her daughter about the new Starfire her daughter was quick to comment on the differences, noting that she s not fighting anymore. And not talking to anyone really. She s just almost naked and posing (Lee, 2011). As Lee continues on to discuss the conversation between herself and her daughter, she notes that the old Starfire, respectfully dressed and ready to spring into action was a much better superhero and that she s a great role model. She tells people they can be good friends and super powerful and fight for good, (Lee, 2011). Lee s article shows that children can understand complex ideas such as gender roles and inequalities and that the portrayals of these female superheroes does not go unnoticed by the younger generations. This notion goes to show that the messages of beauty and the body images in these texts can be decoded in a number of different ways, some of which can teach children positive messages and some of which can be negative. He cannot bear the thought that people are walking around and not receiving any punishment for whatever wrong they may have done. Eventually his need to kill and serve justice overwhelms him and he decides to take matters into his own hands. Wargrave did not remain static through all of the events of And Then There Were None. At first when he was alive he did seem to want to help figure out who the murderer was. By the end of the novel the readers learn about his true nature and how the whole thing was planned out by him. He carried out this psychological experiment to satisfy his own needs. All of the childish things he did such as the nursery rhyme and soldier figure that seem like they were toys, makes it like nothing but a game for him. The major conflict of And Then There Were None is the external, society vs. man conflict between the guests and the murderer (Wargrave). The murderer plays with the guests minds while killing them off one by one. The guests are trying to survive and find out who is responsible for the murders. Ten guests were invited to Soldier Island all for different reasons such as jobs, visiting friends, etc. When they arrived, their host was not there yet and they were told he would be delayed for at least another day. Each guest went to their room to prepare for dinner and it was right after dinner when the guests first noticed the ten soldier figures on the table. The plain natives, a respectful people, took from the land what they needed and always gave back. The settlers that came thought they were smarter and more advanced than the natives, and viewed the natives as being inferior. In reality it was the exact opposite. The natives could use the bladder and stomach to store water and keep meet fresh, the hides were used as cover for teepees and the various bones as weapons. The Plain Natives believed that the bison were created by the Great Spirit for the soul purpose of keeping their tribes alive, making them cherish the bison as a literal life line. In Jones s book, Jones depicts his encounter with Chief Big Indian of the Cheyenne tribe. In this way when Jones shows Chief Big Indian where a herd of bison was, Chief Big Indian was ecstatic with excitement, and signaled the rest of his hunters that he had found a herd. Within half an hour, 100 Indians came from miles away to the signaled spot. Every able bodied man from the tribe was out hunting for bison. This shows how important the bison were for the natives. The school, in 2015, reports enrolling 1,165 students in grades six through eight, and it has 69 teachers on staff. The problem is the school s process for financial expenditures not being well aligned with students needs. By streamlining the process for financial expenditures, it will ensure the expenditures fulfill students needs efficiently and appropriately. The impact the problem is having is that when the lessons are not fully supplemented with the required supplies there is a lack of engagement in the classroom. Therefore, the system must be streamlined in order to fulfill student needs. Methodology and Results Improvement Cycle #1: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the observations of the classrooms, we had a chance to observe a lesson that had the correct supplies. In this classroom setting, a large number of the students appeared to be engaged and were able to answer questions easily. The students interacted better in the class when the supplies were present because they were able to have visual and hands on references to engage the students. We also observed a classroom that did not have the supplies needed and found that a large percentage of the students were not engaged, and a few had their heads down on their desks. In this class, when the teacher asked questions only three students participated and the rest did not. During both classroom visits we made sure to pick similar teachers that were teaching the same subject with similar lesson plans. We began to see the effect of not having supplies versus having a well supplied classroom. We then realized that the school s process for financial expenditures is not well aligned with students needs and was affecting the end product, which provides the engagement and educational needs of the students. If we could repeat this process, we would have tested more classrooms to see if these observations continued. We would test to see if supplies received on time helped keep students engaged, and increased successful learning by aiding in student ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

William Pennsylvania Research Paper Many historians think about how Pennsylvania had a big impact on the United States that we call home today.Pennsylvania was one of the first thirteen colonies which also means it was one of the first states to come up with laws. The reason Pennsylvania had such a big effect on the United States history is that our ancestors made fairly good decisions but they also made bad decisions. When William Penn founded Pennsylvania in 1681 on what was known as the Quaker religion. When people look at the history Pennsylvania they see the good things our ancestors chose to do when it came to setting up the thirteen colonies, but what most people overlook is the bad things they chose to do like how they slaughtered thousands of Indians at one time.So with ... The dry ecosystem inspires carnivorous creatures to roam the desert in search of their next meal. The sun bleeds into cascading mountains within the day, blurring the horizon with harmonious colors, leaving no doubt of natures undisturbed beauty. Those moments, were then interrupted with a blinding light. An accession of a mushroom cloud followed behind, indicating the destruction of all in total annihilation. The aftermath leading to the extinction of life as we know it. The explosion described wasn t naturally occurring, but a demonstration of the United States fission weapons testing program. The military tested numerous atomic bombs in Nevada s deserts which could be seen as an everyday occurrence, desensitizing those around it. The testing stopped and slowed down into continuous looming threat. The atomic bomb was so terrifyingly devastating that many artists such as: Ed Ruschas Atomic Princess, Jack Malottes The End, and Ken Lisbournes Cape Thompson! captured in painting the physical and metaphorical repercussion during the aftermath that I d like to discuss. First up is Ed Ruschas Atomic Princess, which I interpreted as the simplest in terms in painting style compared to Malottes and Lisbournes themes and color use in my opinion. However, this does not deter away from a metaphorical meaning painted on the canvas. I stared hard at Atomic Princess and realized the background ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
