Argumentative Essay On Self Driving Cars
Self Driving Cars
Over the years, the use of technology has improved drastically, it plays a major role in our lives.
Everything surrounding us has some form of technology. With the power of technology, it may be able
to replace the majority of human jobs in the near future. It is not surprising to hear that self driving
cars are being made. In the article t he problem with self driving cars could turn out to be humans , it
goes into depth about how self driving cars will not have the mindset of human drivers. Skeptics
believe that computerized cars will not have the knowledge and awareness of the numerous reckless
drivers on the road. In the article, it stated that before computerized cars are released, programmers

Personal Self Assessment Essay
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more
about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process.
You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I
plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in
earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the
first step in my successful future.
I can remember in high school, it seemed like I was always one of the last students finished with a
test.

I have discovered some interesting things I have noticed in myself before taking this course. For
example, my learning style I have noticed is the visual learning style.
With this, I prefer to see and read information to full gain comprehension. If I forget the data, or not
clearly understand it the first time read, I have the option of reading it over. I do not always trust
myself to absorb all information the first time around. I take a lot of notes to look at. Notes help me
remember even though I may not read the again, I can refer to them in my mind after writing them
down. I am not sure if just anyone reading them would get anything out of it, but at least I know what
they mean.
I like to take my time with material, but am not always given the allotted time to do so. I also like to
keep a written list of things to do to refer to. I am comfortable with my learning style, accepted it as
my very own. I am not sure if changing it this late in life is such a good idea. I have got by this far, it
must work out for me.
I have identified my personality style as being extroverted, one who becomes easily energized by
others, and outwardly expressing thoughts as long as I am fully understanding context and material
being discussed. If I have no idea what is being addressed, I am better of keeping quiet to save myself

Charles Babbage And His Engines
The author, Wilkes, of this journal article reviews and criticizes Charles Babbage and his engines. The
title of the journal questions the current position Charles Babbage is known for, the father of
computing. Wilkes considers Babbage a great uncle of computing science instead of the father and
gives further details as in to why. The author doesn t only criticize Babbage s work but also informs
the readers on how they operate and what their function is. According to the text, Babbage s first
difference engine was not a very good idea (Wilkes 15). The difference engine only functioned to do
two different tasks which are to compute and tabulate polynomials. This basically states that the
difference engine could compute mathematical tables, but further reading attacks this claim. In order
for the difference engine to be able to compute, Babbage had to do a great amount of paper and pencil
computation in order to calculate the coefficients to be set on the engine (Wilkes 15). As a result, one
can criticize that the difference engine doesn t exactly work out mathematical tables on its own
without the help of the conductor. One could argue that, because of the time period, the difference
computer wasn t made to reduce human labor but to actually mechanize computations. The author also
elaborates onto the rough years Babbage had on his creations towards his engine. During the year
1832, Babbage had a dispute with his engineer and production of the engine hindered (Wilkes

Film Analysis Of The Sapphires
The Sapphires
The Sapphires, directed by Wayne Blair is a 2012 Australian musical comedy drama based on a true
story. The film is written by Keith Thompson and Tony Briggs, staring Jessica Mauboy, Deborah
Mailman, Shari Sebbens, Miranda Tapselland and Chris O Dowd. The film was based on a true story
exploring the themes of family, courage and race identity. Wayne Blair explored these themes by using
various techniques throughout the film to have an effect on the audience.
Three Aboriginal sisters, Gail, Cynthia and Julie living in outback Australia in 1968 have a passion for
singing. When Julie meets Gail and Cynthia at a talent contest which Julie wasn t allowed to go to
they end up meeting a drunk Irish man called Dave, who worked as a MC. Gail and Cynthia meet up
with an old cousin called Kay who used to live with them before the government took her for being a
non aborigine. Dave who is desperate for a job becomes their manager and piano player. The girls
blitz the audition and travel around Vietnam performing for Vietnam troops were one day the 4 girls
have no guards protecting them while they keep travelling.
The opening scene is important in any film as it sets the scene and introduced the characters, Wayne
set the scene and introduced the characters in the starting scene absolutely perfectly by using
techniques such as music, camera angles and characterisation. At the very start of the scene the
audience would hear light panting form Gail and Kay running. The

The Citizen Genet Affair Analysis
The Citizen Genet affair not only exhibits a great foreign disrespect towards the beliefs and authority
of our president, but is a heinous attempt to deteriorate the very structure that keeps our nation running
smoothly: trade. As I have previously stated, maintaining peace and focusing on trade are of
overriding importance, and it is vital for us to maintain peace with Britain in order to forge a strong
trading relationship overseas. Genet s demands for our militaristic and financial aid infringed upon
said peace, and as Washington explained, would do far more harm than good if followed. Similarly, a
success on Genet s part to garner our support in organizing attacks against the Spanish would disallow
us to reap the benefits of Mississippi

Rabbits As Animal Model To Assess Impact Of Moringa...
Hormonal Studies;
In the doe
The endocrinology of reproduction is vital reproductive machineries that drive reproductive processes.
This study was designed using rabbits as animal model to assess impact of Moringa oliefera on female
fertility by determining the status of major reproductive hormones of hypothalamic pituitary gonadal
axis. Serum LH, FSH progesterone, oestradiol and prolactin are the basic essential reproductive
endocrinal biochemical biomarkers for the investigation of fertility and the functionality of
reproductive axis (hypothalamic/pituitary/gonadal axis) (Harris and Naftolinf., 1970) in female
animals. The concentration of FSH influences the number of follicles that are (Ca´rdenas and Pope

This is in line with Joshi and Joshi (1992) who reported that anti fertility herbs especially those used
as contraceptives interferes with pituitary gonadotropin secretions which affects the functionality of
ovary by direct inhabiting ovulation and interference with fertilization, implantation and gestation or
pregnancy. However, the mechanism of action is still not very clear. The phyto compounds in the test
plant responsible for the observed dose related reduction of key reproductive hormones (FSH, LH and
oestradial) may be related to flavonoids, glucosinolates, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins and
cinnamates which was reported to as effective agent in plants use for abortion ((Tarafder , 1982; Nath
et al., 1992; 1997; Amaglo et al. 2010; Coppin et al. 2013; Torres Castillo et al., 2013). These
compounds may be acting alone or in synergism to each other to influence negatively reproductive
axis to precipitate reduction in FSH, LH and oestrogen concentration observed in this study. Farooq et
al. (2012) reported that Moringa oliefera have anti fertility activity. Also, Prakash, et al., (1987) in
their study with aqueous extract of the root and bark of Moringar olieferas observed post coital anti
fertility effect in rat and also induced fetal resorption at late pregnancy. In another study analysing anti
reproductive potential of folk medicinal plants, Moringa oliefera leaf extracts were found to be 100%
abortive with doses equivalent to 175 mg/kg of

Wildlife Biologist
Becoming a Wildlife Biologist: A Guide to Attaining the Expert Level Everyone wants to be an expert
at something. Doesn t it sound fun to analyze animals behaviors, mannerisms, and watch them in their
natural environment? Is that something being a wildlife biologist? There are many different
viewpoints on how to achieve success in the field of wildlife biology. First of all, a wildlife biologist
studies the physical characteristics and behaviors of wildlife and the impact humans have on wildlife
and their natural habitats (Summary, 2014). They may work in the field or in a lab setting, depending
on the job. One successful path to becoming an expert wildlife biologist requires a ... Show more

Problem solving skills and the collaboration of ideas allow a wildlife biologist to view the data and
create a common solution that will help all or most of the involved species. These scientists must also
be patient and wait for data to support or not support a potential theory. Justin Brashares is a good
example of problem solving and meticulously looking at the data. In 1998, Brashares went to Africa to
study antelope behavior only to find nearly no antelope (Nijhuis, 2014). Just as the Ghanaian farmers
and the data told him, as fish harvesting became less successful, hunters harvested more antelope and
other species, which in turn resulted in more baboons (because of nearly no predation), and children
staying home from school to protect their family farms from the baboons (Nijhuis, 2014). Also, the
decreasing fish industry was resulting in a higher rate of child slavery (Nijhuis, 2014). These data
findings explained the decline in antelope and how this related to the bigger problem. He had to
thoroughly look at the data to find the true cause in the wildlife decline and try to solve the problem in
a way that benefited all areas of this issue. Wildlife Biologists have to problem solve and collaborate
ideas to find the true cause of a problem and find a realistic

The Characters Of Stapleton And The Joker
One wears a sleek, purple suit, while the other wears a dirty, grey suit. Even though both characters
are wearing a suit, it is necessary to look in between the lines at the diction that the author uses to
build characterization. The man that wears the sleek, purple suit is the Joker from the many
productions in which he existed, and the man that wears the dirty, grey suit is Stapleton, from The
Hound of the Baskervilles. Stapleton and the Joker may be extremely contradistant, but they both
share one affinity, the evilness that rushes through their blood. In their books and movies, Stapleton
and the Joker are the main villains, which makes them very related. By looking at both of the creators
imagery, it is clear that the Joker and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stapleton does not support the crimes that Stapleton does, so much that she wrote, As you value your
life or your reason, keep away from the moor. (43). The matron was trying to keep Sir Henry
Baskerville away from Baskerville hall, and away from the death that faced him. Stapleton and the
Joker are similar and diverse because of their corresponding heroes. The Joker s opponent is Batman.
He is an immortal being, and usually catches the Joker at the end of whatever the crime is. Also, when
the Joker does a crime, Batman usually knows that the Joker was the one who did it, mostly because
he is such a vicious person. Nonetheless, Stapleton is able to hide in plain sight the fact that he
murdered Sir Charles Baskerville, with his charming appearance. Stapleton was hiding his crimes by
admitting, I had a school, said stapleton. It was in the north country. The work to a man of my
temperament was mechanical and uninteresting, but the privilege of living with youth, of helping to
mould those young minds, and of impressing them with one s own character and ideals was very dear
to me. (103). Stapleton seems so nice and sympathetic, so much that he made a school, so it was hard
for his opponent, Sherlock Holmes, to find out that he, out of all men, was the killer.
Although The Joker and Stapleton are different, their personalities share one main connection, that
they both are surprisingly vain. The Joker thinks highly of himself, as well as his

Elizabethan Era Instruments
Violins, flutes, ruffs, and farthingales. Where are they all from you ask, the Elizabethan Era. Music
has always been important to society, but during the Elizabethan Era it played an extreme role. This
paper will give readers a deeper understanding of the music during the Elizabethan Era and what it
was to be a musician in that time. Welcome to the Elizabethan Era. Well everyone loves music. Music
deals with almost everything. Instrumental music was very popular during the Elizabethan Era. There
were many instruments. The most popular solo instruments of the time were the virginal and the lute.
The virginal was a popular variant of the harpsichord among the English and one of Elizabeth s
favorite instruments to play. The introduction of new musical instruments such as the early violin
called the viol, the early oboe called the hautboy and the keyboard musical instruments called the
spinet, harpsichord and the virginals provided the sounds which produced a much more refined sound
than had been produced during the Medieval era. They really used the same instruments we do now.
The only difference is it just looks different than it did back then. The instruments we use look modern
and probably sound a little better than they did back then. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Licenses are signed for a different time periods. Licensing agreements are subject to negotiation and
they vary from company to company and from industry to industry. A major disadvantage of licensing
is the company s dependence on the local licensee to generate revenues and, thus, royalties, usually
paid as a percentage on sales volume only. Another disadvantage is the resulting uncertainty of
product quality.
Franchising Its a special form of licensing in which the franchiser makes a total marketing program
available, including the brand name, logo, products, and method of operation.
Many companies find it to their advantage to manufacture locally instead of supplying the particular
market with products made elsewhere. Numerous factors such as laws, political considerations, local
costs, tariifs and market size may affect a choice to manufacture locally, so it requires fair amount of
attention before making a final decision. The local production may be contract manufacturing,
assembly, or fully integrated

Analysis Of Snow Falling On Cedars
In Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson Kabuo Miyamoto is being charged with the murder of a
local fisherman. This novel starts with Kabuo s trial, The accused man, Kabuo Miyamoto, sat proudly
upright with a rigid grace, his palms placed softly on the defendant s table the posture of a man who
has detached himself insofar as this is possible at his own trial (3). The use of the word proudly makes
me already believe that Kabuo is the one to blame for the murder because he is sitting up straight
which shows confidence. Kabuo holds an emotionless expression which makes me think of a killer
because they usually would not hold any guilt in their face. Putting myself in Kabuo s position and I
realized that he is a very strong man because he had to keep himself emotionless and if that were me, I
would have been terrified to be there especially since during that time period Japanese people were
being discriminated. The use of the word accused is used again to describe Kabuo, The accused man,
Kabuo Miyamoto, leaned to his right... (28). The author uses the word accused to let us know that
Kabuo might be the killer or he might not be. This helps us to not be biased when we read all of the
evidence that shows he is guilty. Hatsue and Ishmael were in love until she realized they could never
truly be together because of their differences He himself was always in need of words, even when he
couldn t quite muster them, but she seemed capable of a brand of silence he couldn t feel

development of characters throughout not only the trilogy, but this book alone. Yet one reading must
also enjoy a fantasy world with a completely different culture and society base than that of our own.
One can easily find themselves lost in the world that James Barclay has beautifully constructed. For
those who have a hard time getting into any given book if it starts out slowly, not to worry,
Shadowheart is faced paced from the get go. Despite having a few defined protagonists, the antagonist
is sometimes hard to find. This can mostly be attributed to having multiple story lines within any
given chapter telling you about what is going on with every side of the war. This structure gives the
book a unique reading style that is enjoyable and adds an extra element to the experience of reading. I
would recommend this book to

Advantages Of Adversarial Legal System
The origin of the adversarial legal system is very blurry and vague, but the system has been around
quite a while and approaches to handle criminal proceeding in a totally opposite method, compared to
the inquisitorial legal system. Before discussing the effectiveness and the advantages of a adversarial
legal system, it is a good idea to understand the system. Adversarial legal system began in England
with common law, and most countries with common law usually tend to follow the adversarial legal
system but some countries based on civil law like France, and the Netherlands follow the inquisitorial
legal system (). The main difference between the two systems is the role of judge, in an inquisitorial
legal system the judge is more involves with the case but in the adversarial legal system the judge s
role gets reduced to a neutral third party only to just hear the case, presented by the prosecutor and
defense attorney. In Canada our legal system is based around common law and hence resulting in our
adversarial legal system, the system is incredibly effective and features many advantages when
compared to its counterpart the inquisitorial system. The key elements which allow the adversarial
system to be effective are the role judge, fair opportunity for both defendant and prosecutor to present
their case while their rights being protected, and finally the introduction of the restorative justice.
The Role of the judge in an adversarial system is its greatest strength when

Drug And Alcohol Treatment Of Alcoholics Anonymous And...
Twelve step programs are commonly used in drug and alcohol treatment. Alcoholics Anonymous and
Narcotics Anonymous both utilize the twelve steps, along with many other treatment centers. The
twelve steps are used as a tool to stay sober and overcome addictions to substance abuse. The first step
involves admitting one is powerless over the drug. It also involves admitting that due to the drug, one
is no longer in control of his or her life. The second step is coming to the belief that there is a greater
power that can restore one to sanity. The greater power can be anything from God to a higher power
such as nature. The third step is making the decision to turn one s will and life over to the higher
power. This is when an individual fully commits oneself to the belief in something greater than him or
her self. The fourth step is a moral inventory of oneself. Many individuals make a list of all the
wrongs he or she has done while in the fourth step. (Alcoholics Anonymous Publishing, 1981) The
fifth step involves admitting to a higher power, oneself, and other people the exact nature of the
offenses one has committed. The sixth step is preparing oneself to have a higher power remove the
character defects. Asking the higher power to remove the deficiencies is step number seven. Step eight
is making a list of the individuals harmed in one s addiction and preparing oneself to make amends
with those people. Step nine is fulfilling step eight and making those amends with hurt

Edwin Abbott s Flatland
Flatland Summary The book Flatland, by Edwin Abbott Abbott, is all about A. Square in a two
dimensional world, called Flatland and his journey into the third dimension. The book is written in
first person with the narrator being the square. The first half of the book explained all about Flatland
and how everything worked in a two dimensional world. There were many different elements that had
to be explained before the reader could somewhat grasp the concept of life in only two dimensions.
The first thing explained was the social classes which relied on how many sides one had, with a
isosceles triangle being the lowest class and a circle being the highest class. If an isosceles triangle
does good deeds and lives a good life, he can become an equilateral triangle and move up into a higher
class. I really did not like this part of the book because it seemed really unfair to that a kid could be

Since all they could see were straight lines at everybody they had to use brightness from what they
called the fog to tell how many sides a shape had. I found this part super cool because they had to train
their eyesight for a long time just to be able to identify others.
The second half of the book had to deal with the square s journey into the third dimension. First, he
had a dream about a one dimensional world, called Lineland, where he had to explain to lines and
points that there is more than their dimension. Of course, they could not comprehend the second
dimension because it is virtually impossible to visualize another dimension than one s own.
Next, the square was visited by what he thought was a circle but in reality was a sphere. The sphere
told him that he had given him the dream of Lineland, and he tried to use the same reasoning he used
with the lines and points to convince him that there was another dimension, the third

Argumentative Essay On Online Dating
Over the past decade, online dating popularity has increase drastically. Even though the younger
generation of society is in the transition from traditional to modern dating, people of all ages are
beginning to test the modern way of communicating: online dating. Many people are curious if online
dating is the best way to search for a partner in today s society. Is online dating actually the most
successful way to find the one ? Many people do not feel comfortable admitting that they participate
in online dating simple because they are unsure of how society will judge them. Society is gradually
becoming aware of the idea and accepting the newest form of dating and courting. How successful is
this modern dating and how does it compare to traditional dating techniques? The world is such an
enormous place, making traditional dating difficult to meet the number of people which online dating
sites provide (Nicholson, 2014). Individuals may access partners with specific interests that may
include lifestyle, personality, and orientation (Nicholson, 2014). A variety of dating sites offer
matching tests, which theoretically help connect two individuals quicker than if they searched with the
traditional method (Nicholson, 2014). People realize how effortless it is to search for a partner and
immediately fall in love with the process. Online dating provides the opportunity for individuals to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cooperative
Theoretical Background
The history of forming a cooperative started when the Filipinos traveled in Europe during the later
part of the 19th century, studied abroad and brought home with them new ideas. It was this group of
Filipinos who were in close contact with the new economic movement in Europe. Two names worthy
of note were Dr. Jose P. Rizal and Teodoro Sandiko. In Dapitan, Rizal had his ideas in cooperation
partially fulfilled. He put up a school for the poor community on a purely cooperative basis. He also
established a cooperative store with the help of his pupils. One noteworthy group organized by Rizal
was the La Sociedad de los Abacaleros (Society of Abaca Producers). This functioned for only one
year. Rizal returned the members share capital without any loss. Teodoro Sandiko, in his travels in
Europe, had a close contact with the cooperative movement in Germany where he came across with
the Raffeisien movement. Very much impressed by this type of cooperative, he looked forward for an

One main advantage of cooperative is that it is easy to form compare to any other business
organization. No legal formalities are really needed to form this.(Thames Hudson, 2011) Second
advantage is that there is no obstruction for membership. Anyone can be a member of a cooperative
and can also leave if he/she no longer wants to continue his/her membership. (Davidson Davidson,
2010) Third advantage is that it is democratically managed; it is managed by the elected officers of the
cooperative with all the members having the equal right to choose and vote. (Democracy for
Cooperation, 2010)The last or fourth advantage is that the members shared the surplus of the
cooperative. The profit from goods sold are distributed to its members and some of it are reserved or
kept also for the welfare of its member which is mainly used for the managing or expanding of a
cooperative. (Today in Cooperatives,

The Medicines Compacy
The Medicines Company What is the value of Angiomax to a hospital? Both Angiomax and Heparin
are widely used as an anticoagulant in acute coronary heart treatment. Since Angiomax is a potential
substitute for Heparin, Angiomax can be of great value to a hospital. Angiomax has three significant
advantages over Heparin. First, the effects of Angiomax are more accurate and dependable which
makes the product more predictable. Second, Angiomax doesn t require a 2 3 hour wait time for
results whereas Heparin does. Last but not least, Angiomax is safer for patients that are at risk for
bleeding. In all, it is effective in reducing complications or death in a hospital, which lead to a
decrease in costs. For example, if there are complications or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

fact that they are abandoned drugs should be a red flag as well. There is a reason and probably
multiple reasons why other companies abandoned these drugs. The list could include cost, profit,
safety, effectiveness, and much more. You have to wonder why this company thinks they can make a
difference in these abandoned drugs. Lets say Angiomax does become a success. Does this mean the
other drugs that they promote will be successful as well? Definitely not. Since the Medicines
Company doesn t have much history, they are more at risk with no accountability. Not to mention,
they don t have other drugs on the market that are or attaining FDA approval. I don t think that the
Medicines Company is ready to pursue this business model. Their focus should remain on Angiomax.
If Angiomax is a success, how much will this business model change? If Angiomax is a success, I
would expect the business model to change slightly. Their plan with rescuing abandoned drugs could

Analysis of Sean Covey´s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective...
Effective Habits in Teens Lives Being a teenager can be challenging sometimes. Not many teens can
easily cope with the pressure that comes from school, family, and friends. The author Sean Covey
published The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens as a helpful book for teens that face many
uncertainties during the emotional stage of growing up and getting ready to become adults someday.
Since Covey managed to capture the readers heart with many relatable short stories along with deep
insights, this engaging book has become widely popular among teens as well as adults who influence
young people. In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey does not only discuss the
essential principles to deal with daily situations, he also provides guidance on how to succeed in life
by being proactive, defining goals, and making priorities. In the first chapter, one of the many steps to
live a productive and successful life is being proactive. Proactive people think carefully before making
any major or minor decisions, and most importantly, they take responsibilities for their behaviors.
They often come to the conclusion of their choices based on values and principles instead of impulses
or circumstances. They remain calm under situations that many find easy to break down because of
peer pressure. Those who are proactive in their lives cannot control the situation; however, they can
control what to do with it rather than giving in. Proactive people do not just want something; they

Hunger Game Censorship
In Canada, as in other democratic societies, people enjoy freedom of expression and many are against
the practice of censorship. Despite the fact that there is often quite a lot of controversy when a book is
banned or challenged for various reasons, one thing is clear that censorship is necessary, even if we
don t like it. As a matter of fact, controversy around censorship more often arises in a grey area, where
arguments can be made and are made either to support or refute banning a certain book. The Hunger
Game, a fiction by Suzanne Collins, is a case that has aroused a lot of controversy among the public.
Its movie adaptation has a (censorship) rating of PG 13, which could also be taken as an acceptable
approach toward the book.

Death of a sales man Essay
No one has a perfect life. Everyone has conflices that they must face sooner or later. The ways in

concern with there sons education, especially Biff. Throughout their lives Willy devotes himself to
coaching them, almost like an older teammate, in the technigues for winning the striving game. He
stresses those tactics he believes to be the keys to achievement: popularity, congeniality, physical
powess, and attractiveness. Willy never tells the boys they need skill, he sedulously encourages them.
An example would be when when Willy says, That s why I thank Almighty God you re both built like

personal interest, is the man who gets ahead. (Act One, page 33) Charley s family exemplifies

the value he places on education is more and more often the path to occupational achievement.

of his career, the meaning of appearing as a lawyer before the Supreme Court. The scene between

Principle Summary Of A Psychodynamic Approach
Principle Summary
The principle of order explains that if there is an action then there will either be a reaction or
consequence based on the results that we are expecting. In order to get effective outcomes when
working with families, children, and individuals I would have to consistently seek information to
ensure that I was giving them correct strategies and techniques to improve their family structure. The
principle of empathy expresses the need to understand certain situations form other s perspectives in
order to understand their reactions, emotions, and behaviors. This act will ensure that I am actually
understanding the reason behind the behavior based on the client/person instead of in my own opinion.
The principle of agency refers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance of taking different situations into context as a professional yet being open to change as
an individual is very refreshing because that shows that professionals are human as well. Working
with cases that are difficult to hear are more likely to be the most difficult times as a FLE worker
because I think the division between being professional and personal can be invisible at times. If these
principles are present in my field of work then this can help to make sure that I take these things into
context before attempting to help others.
Personal Biases
Personal biases that I am aware that I have are towards are towards privileges of others of different
races. This is a big hindrance for me because I understand that many people don t get the opportunity
to live up to their expectations but I still refer to facts about the rewards and lack of punishment that
are given to them. The most challenging individuals for me to work with would be sex offenders. In
my opinion they can be rehabilitated but the act in general would make it difficult for me to effectively
discuss their issues and the reasoning behind meeting with them.

Understanding Child and Young Person s Development
Unit 3 Understand Child and Young Person s Development
All children are unique and a lot of their developmental milestones happen naturally as they get older,
however some can be affected by different life factors, such as health, environment and background
and more specific skills can be learnt and encouraged. There is an expected pattern of development
but all children are individual and therefore the rate will vary.
There are four categories of development:
Physical Development (Birth 1 year) The development of control over one s own body in both gross
and fine motor skills is the infant s primary physical task, culminating toward the end of the first year

The Physics Of American Football
The Physics of American Football In America, sports are an important part of the culture. People
watch them for pure fun and entertain or because they simply love the game. American sports such as
football all have some aspect of physics that are tied into the sport. Football is not just simply
throwing a ball to a wide receiver or kicking a field goal for an extra point. There are ways in which
players, from Pop Warner to professional players alike, play the game that may look simple from a
television screen or from a stadium seat. Newton s laws of motion can be applied to many aspects in
the game of football. By learning the physics of football, a fan can become an expert on this
seemingly simple sport. To begin, explaining how the game of football works, will help any reader
understand why knowing the physics can be important. According to James Adler, from about.com,
Football is a sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts on each
end. The offense, or the team with control of the ball, attempts to advance the ball downfield by
running or passing the ball, while the opposing team aims to stop their advance and take control of the
ball themselves. (Adler) The main objective of the game is have to most points by the end of four 12
minute quarters. To score, the quarterback tries to advance the ball up the field to score as many
touchdowns, or field goals as possible, while holding the other team to as few as possible (Adler).

The Civil War Of Iran Essay
Historical Background
Throughout the 1980 s, Lebanon was engulfed in a brutal civil war that was waged between the
government and different rebel factions. Hezbollah, a fundamentalist Shia militant group allied with
the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), was one of the major forces fighting against the
Lebanese government. With Ronald Reagan as acting president of the United States, he made an effort
toward stabilizing the Area by sending peacekeeping forces to Beirut. In retaliation to this
involvement, a suicide bomber drove a truck into a military barracks, killing 241 peacekeepers on
October 23, 1983. 21 suspects were detained in suspicion of being involved in the planning of the
attack; Hezbollah, in retaliation, began to kidnap American and western individuals, demanding the
release of these men along with other outrageous concessions. Meanwhile, only a few countries away,
the newly formed Islamic Republic of Iran was at war against its secular neighbor, Iraq. Prior to the
Iranian Revolution, America had close relations with Iran s former leader, Shah Mohammad Reza
Pahlavi, and supplied the regime with American made military equipment. The new Iranians leaders,
however, had begun to exhaust these munitions from its war with Iraq, requiring more weapons and
spare parts in order to effectively thwart the advances by Saddam Hussein s army. The United States
however, had vowed neutrality, stating they would not sell arms to the belligerents of the war. In the

Ishmael Outcasts
In biblical times, there lived a man named Abraham and his beloved wife Sarah, who prayed to God
every day for the gift of a child. Sarah, however, remained barren and suggested Abraham sleep with
his servant Haggar as a surrogate. Haggar did bare a child named Ishmael, but Sarah grew to despise
Haggar and her child for gifting Abraham with what she could not. As time past, Sarah gave birth to
Isaac, the miracle child, and God decided Isaac would receive his covenant and subsequently Ishmael
and Haggar were banished as outcasts. In the first line of Moby Dick by Herman Melville, Ishmael
utters the words Call me Ishmael (pg. 18) immediately categorizing himself as an outcast. He does not
fit in with people on land nor at sea, and his intellectualism sets him apart from average whalers.

Alexander s Exploration Of The English Reformations
Alexander begins his exploration of the English Reformations by addressing that the conversion of
England from Catholicism to Protestantism was not a nice transition and does not have set beginnings
and endings. He questions how long it took for the protestants to finally have success and also if the
method of negation of coercion was more effective. Alexander then addresses the questions if the
Protestant reformations occurred from the top down, origination with the leadership, or bottom up,
originating from the peasants in society. He also addresses the change came about through conversion
or coercion.
Alexander references Dickens, another historian, who states that the reformation was gradual

He was able to figure out that as time progressed there were fewer and fewer people identified as
Catholic and those who did tended to hide it so it was not very apparent. Alexander also took into
account that the scribes who recorded the will could be bias and concluded that many scribes skewed
what they wrote in accordance with their own personal religious beliefs. Alexander bring up many
other problems with using will to track the reformation such as the fact that there was often a certain
formula that many used to write their wills which could have skewed the results as well as that many
times wills didn t accurately represent the person and probably aren t a very good source to gauge how
quickly the population England reformed.
Overall Alexander dismisses wills as being used as the sole gauge for the course of the reformation nut
reaffirms that they still hold some value. HE says that historians would not put so much emphasis on

U.s. Citizens During The Civil War
In order to look into the lives of the U.S. citizens during the Civil War I decided to look into the first
week from April 12, 1861 to April 18, 1861 of the New York Times. I looked into this week of articles
to see how the New York Times covered the outbreak of the war and the people s response to it. Some
of the main war events covered were: call for Union to relinquish command of Fort Sumter and first
shots of the war, reaction to the surrender of Fort Sumter, Lincoln s Proclamation to add seventy five
thousand volunteers to the war efforts, possible attacks on Fort Pickens, and the Confederate reaction
to Lincoln s Proclamation. During this week, the north was obviously nervous and scared yet felt they
would win as well as confused as to why the war was happening at all. The April 12 paper included
information on the confederates asking Major Anderson to surrender Fort Sumter and strategies for the
defense of the fort. In the Times article The Forts in Charleston Harbor there is a sense that the union
forces have positioned themselves well and the confederates have waited too long allowing the
opportunity for reinforcements to arrive if needed at Fort Sumter. This feeling can be seen in the final
sentence where it reads: But be the motive what it may, there is little doubt that they have lost the
golden opportunity, and that the Stars and Stripes will continue to wave over the old fort, unless
puerile negotiations should allow the Confederate force to prepare

The People vs. Larry Flynt
Freedom of expression has always been a heated and heavily debated topic throughout our society,
more so in recent times due to the increasing amount of freedoms that we gain. However, it is only
natural that free speech be something of extreme amounts of conflict since this right is expressed in
the very first amendment of the Constitution. But, how loosely should such an important document
within our history be interpreted? This has been a question for years, and it is obvious that this
particular amendment presents itself through our day to day activities. The real issue with freedom of
speech is that, even though it is presented to us, there are obviously people who would abuse it to

Larry Flynt, is definitely protected under this amendment that was actually created by the United
States government. How is it justified that the government takes away this basic freedom, freedom of
speech and of the press, from Larry Flynt, creator of Hustler, if it goes against the morals that they
created for society? According to Mills, if this political right is infringed upon, it is completely
justified that resistance occurs, as it did. Mills goes on later in his work to state, ...there needs to be
protection also against the tyrant of the prevailing opinion and feeling; against the tendency of society
to impose...its own ideas and practices as rules of conduct on those who dissent from them; to fetter
the development...of any individuality not in harmony with its ways, and compel all characters to
fashion themselves upon the model of its own. (Mills 116) By Mills bringing up the idea behind
falling into society s stereotypes and expectations, it is further validated that one should not be
silenced, whether literally or figuratively, due to society s discomfort. Individuals should not be forced
into the fads in which society finds acceptable. People are entitled to their own opinions, and that is
truly the beginnings of individuality. John Stuart Mills is one such philosopher who, very graciously
and rightly, defends such individuality

Much Ado About Nothing Structuralism Essay
Like Father, Like Daughter: Structuralism Amongst the Women in Shakespeare
During the Renaissance, it was common for women to behave in a certain manner in a patriarchal
society. Women were subordinate to any man in their life, whether it was a husband or a father.
However, Shakespeare creates female roles in his plays that often steer away from the common script.
These women challenge, deceive, and steal from these men, including one s closest to them in their
lives. In Merchant of Venice, young Portia and Jessica are two examples of these strayed female
characters. They feel trapped in the hands of their father s and do their best to break free of that hold.

This shows the extreme version of a rebellious teenager in order to escape her father. Once Shylock
finds out his daughter has disappeared with his money and jewels, he is outwardly upset with the fact
that his possessions are gone. He even states that he wished his daughter were dead at [his] foot, and
the jewels in her ear! Would she were hearsed at [his] foot, and the ducats in her coffin! (Act III,
Scene i, 76 79). Surely, one can t believe there are any similarities in this relationship, however,
structuralism shows the underlying pattern between Shylock and Jessica. Diane Dreher author of
Domination and Defiance: Fathers and Daughters in Shakespeare, points out that the two hold a
common trait: Greed. Shylock s greed is expressed through his constant talk on commerce and his
precious ducats, and Jessica has inherited that ideology. Before running away with Lorenzo, she drops
down a basket filled with money and jewels belonging to her father. One would assume it was an act
of reprisal, however, Dreher argues it is greed much like her father s. She describes her as bad and
disloyal, unfilial, a thief; frivolous, greedy, without any more conscience than a cat, (pg. 102). These
two characters know that money holds a powerful position in their lives. Along with this greed, both
are very determined characters in terms of fighting for what they want. With Shylock, he is constantly
trying to receive justice through the deal he made with Antonio. Despite the strange request, he
demands that he receives his pound of flesh from Antonio and stops at nothing to see it through. This
passion can be seen in Jessica as well when she is determined to marry Lorenzo despite her father s
wishes. She gets to the point of disguising herself as a man in order to be with him. She goes great

This of course references the debate over gun control. The liberal left claims that the public s access to

resourceful was vital to the Spanish colonial conquest. It allowed them to indulge in their quest for
empire under the guise of trying to bring the indigenous into their society. Truthfully, it was a way for
the Spanish to practice their racism and cruelty. Cabeza de Vaca subtly communicates a portrayal of
the indigenous that depicts them just as the Spanish empire wanted them to be, while at the same time
positioning himself as their superior, therefore solidifying Cabeza de Vaca as a leadership figure who s
experience in dealing with the indigenous and landscapes was invaluable to the Spanish s goals. The
passage begins with the words And to console them... , a phrase suggesting that Spanish presence in
the Americas is bringing great grief to the indigenous, due to how it is causing divides amongst the
indigenous, as well as how it creates a justification for the raiding that takes place through an
exchange. The Spanish and their allies receive the indigenous goods, while in return the get a measly
consolation of words, which in this case are supposed to be the most sound advice possible. It is
immediately followed by the robbers told them... , where Cabeza de Vaca has decided to forego
erroneously calling the indigenous Indians, and calls the indigenous that are aiding him

UTRGV Case Study
The current business process of UTRGV, specifically, of course delivery is to deliver classes via two
main means. They are the traditional method of face to face and virtually through Blackboard.
However, this current process is in need of great improvement after the UTPA and UTB merger. That
is, due to the vast distance separating both campuses, students are in need of a third course delivery
option. Students need an option that enables them to take all their classes from one single location. As
of right now, students must decide to take their classes face to face at the Edinburg and/or
Brownsville. However, the problem is that some classes are exclusively offered at one and not both
campuses. Currently, the way around this problem is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where information technology can be used to improve such process. Currently, students must
choose from two primary methods. They are face to face and online respectively. Yet, with the use of
information technology, UTRGV is able to implement and offer students a third option. This option
will be better suited to meet the needs of two across both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses. It
is through the usage of the online meeting and videoconferencing application WebEx that a third
course delivery method is able to be offered. Through WebEx, professors are able to live streamed
(and record) their lectures across both campuses. Specifically, professors are able to share their
screens and hold an interactive lecture where all the students (even those 70 miles away) are able to
contribute and ask questions. Without question, this is of great advantage to students especially when
only one course section is being offered. It will eliminate unnecessary travel time and costs which
could be put to better productive use elsewhere. For a visual representation of the new business
process, please see Figure 1: Business Process Analysis of UTRGV Course

The Role Of Popular Music In The Infantilization Of Women
Music can help change lives, heal wounds, or unfortunately, create stigmas. We live in a world that
stigmatizes women on a daily basis, and the music industry plays no less of a significant role in
reinforcing some of those stigmas. One apparent stigma that the current music industry is promoting is
the infantilization of women. Infantilization is the act of treating an adult as a child, and thus denying
her or his maturity. Equating women with children, and treating them as if they are weak and
dependent is something we can clearly see in pop music. Whether it was through presenting women in
infantilized positions in music videos or using infantilizing terms in lyrics, pop music plays a big role
in shaping our inaccurate perception of women. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, I will present the results in graphs and tables and discuss them. I plan to split my discussion into
two parts parallel to the survey s parts. I predict that the participants would describe the women in the
infantilized song lyrics and music videos as childlike and dependent. If my prediction was true, I
would use the discussion parts to explain the powerfulness of music in shaping the perception of
women in our society. In my discussion, I will incorporate the findings of Huot s and Carlson s
research that go along with my predicted finding. I will also use the examples of the infantilization of
women in pop culture that are shown in The Codes of Gender; a documentary film, written and
directed by Sut Jhally, that focuses on the American s pop culture role in shaping the stereotypical
ideas about femininity and masculinity. Also in this section, I will discuss other effects that resulted
from the infantilization of women in music. I will use Alanna Vagianos s Huffington post article Drake
s Hotline Bling Just Got A Genius Feminist Makeover, to help me provide an example. In this article,
Vagianos presents the story of a 27 year old woman named Javetta Laster who was affected by the
infantilizing lyrics of the hit song Hotline Bling, and decided to rewrite the lyrics in a more accurate
way. One example of Laster s rewritten lyrics shows how the original one was presenting an
infantilized look of women; the original lyric says: Why you never alone? Why you always touching
road? Used to stay at home, be a good girl. You was in the zone, yeah, while Laster s edited feminist
version of the same lyric says: You used to stay at home and be someone I saw fitting into the
patriarchal expectations of women to be infantilized good girls which is some bizarre father/daughter
husband/wife dynamic left over from women being considered adult children property. Laster s

Assignment 2: Project Paper Edwin D Giraldo Professor: Ibrahim H Alsaeed, Ph.D. HUM 112
11/29/14 Abstract In this paper, I choose to discuss three pieces of art from the 19th century
Impressionist period and three from the Post Impressionist period and how these six pieces of art
compare to each style. Then I will draft a memo to the CEO of my company to describe the
appearance, so that they will have an idea of what the art looks like and where it should be placed
throughout the corporate offices. Next, we are going to explain the historical significance for each
piece of artwork that I choose. Finally, I will descried to the CEO of my company how each piece of

As for placement of the last three paintings, I decided to put the A Lion Devouring its Prey in the

they deserve for they have done for the company, the next one, In the Oise in the Valley, could be
placed in the main break room of the company, so that the employees have a place to relax and not be
disturbed in order to get away from the regular environment that any workplace create, even though
just for a little while from their rigorous job, and The Yellow Books could be placed where the
company keeps all its information on the business to represent how the business conducts itself and
what the future holds for the business and all the customers. Explain why each piece is considered to
be historically significant. Pierre Auguste Renoir made his mark historically on the surfaces of his
paintings by using small dabs of pigment that were applied uniformly, but his brush strokes were
somewhat nervous, but yet he used the sunlight effects that were achieved with colored shadows, and
loose brushwork.

High School Summer Abroad
I think it is important to experience the High School Summer Abroad Program because it is a new
aspect in my life and it can help me in many ways. I can see the country and learn the culture and the
language. I have been to Costa Rica and Mexico recently, but I would love to see South America. I
want to see the difference in Spanish speaking countries because not all of them are the same. It is
always cool to see a new country, but it is even better exploring it on your own without your family.
The awesome experience you get without your family being there is that you have to find your way
around the country with no help. Also, you are much freer to do what you want without your family,
because you don t have to decide things in a group.

Electric Vehicles Have Different Layouts Of The Batteries
Some electric vehicles have different layouts of the batteries. HEVs and PHEVs have large batteries
usually in the trunk of the vehicle because the ICE component of the vehicle takes up most of the
room in the front of the vehicle. Few PHEV batteries are arranged in a T shape under vehicle. These
batteries are still quite large but not as protruding as batteries taking away from the trunk of the
vehicle. The reason why there are able to place the battery under the vehicle is because the battery is
powerful enough to handle a mild driving distance so the ICE component have reduced gas tank
dimensions. Most vehicles today have a gas tank underneath the cabin of the vehicle where the battery
now would be. One successful EV is the Tesla Model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The maintenance of an EV is significantly lower compared to an ICE vehicle. One of the best parts of
an EV is that the management of an EV is so simple. All you have to do to power the vehicle is to plug
the vehicle in to charge. While EV batteries aren t perfect as they too could not function properly and
have to be exchanged with a new battery, there are far more other issues for ICE vehicles because of
the complicated parts of the vehicle. The battery of EVs are extremely heavy, the center of gravity of
the vehicle is much greater because the weight of the vehicle is now in the middle of the vehicle.
Vehicles with better centers of gravity have better handling on the road which is a lot safer. EVs also
have better drag coefficients than ICE vehicles. Drag coefficients is how easy the vehicle will cut
through wind especially when driving at high speeds. Now the Tesla Model S is a luxury EV. It has all
the bells and whistles and all of the price too. It is very successful in sales, but is still too expensive for
the average American. Many other EVs are much cheaper and provide the same great qualities of all
EVs. Major car companies all over the world are pushing into the market of EVs. Nearly every major
car company is under development or produce a PHEV or EV ready to hit the streets. Now what is an
electric vehicle

The New Greatest Generation By Joel Steins
In Joel Steins article The New Greatest Generation he gives his opinion on the millennial generation.
The ones that are born between the years of 1980s and 2000s are considered millennials. Stein
believes that the millennial generation is lazy. An example of Stein believing millennials are lazy
would be when he mentions how we would rather be an assistant than an actual CEO of a company. I
believe that statement has something to do with millennials being lazy because we would rather take
the easy way out such as being the assistant than working towards being some bigger and better.
Another example in his article would have to be how he mentions technology. I agree technology
plays a major role of the millennials being lazy because it s addicting, and it makes them feel as if they
don t have to do anything because everything is on the internet. Stein also talks about parents and how
they re more of a friend than a parent which could also play a part in millennials being lazy. The
previous generations wasn t lazy as the millennials are today because our generation has more
technology use than they had so they didn t have no choice but to get out and work for their families.
The previous generations didn t have any distractions that will make them lose focus such as
becoming a leader in the workforce instead of being lazy and okay with being an assistant to someone.
First, I would have to say the opinion writer of the article where are all the young voters Rampbell
would

George Ritzer s Explaination of How to Avoid Mcdonaldization
Mr. George Ritzer explain that Mcdonaldization can be avoided, he gave us good explanation the only
time he goes to McDonalds is to use the bathroom he also mentioned that if you have to take your kids
there blind fold them something that might not sit too well with the American people . But his theory
and concept states that it s very hard to avoid Mcdonaldization because it has taken over the American
society and has become part of our life s simply what he calls the Iron Cage
(http://www.learningace.com) . Through his research which states that by simply neglecting the
variety and diversity of consumer practices in different regions and parts of the world and the various
uses to which consumers can put McDonaldization, using its products and procedures to serve their
own needs. There are many ways Mcdonaldization can be resisted in: social institution, education, the
economy, family, as well as religion and military that our society can reverse the effects on the way we
live. Take for instance the schools and classrooms across the world. In Virginia Beach the school
system are based on the SOL(Standards of Learning) testing that has taken control and prevents our
children from getting a good education, this is designed to solely grade the school on how many kids
move up to next level it is not the importance of teaching and educating. We as parents should be more
involved ask question and do not believe that no child should be left behind.

Open Door Policy to Cuba
For five decades the United States and Cuba have been at each other s throats, this is reason that fifty
plus years ago the U.S. created and embargo act against Cuba making all business between the two
country s illegal. But after such a long time of this going on President Barrack Obama ends the act and
thus opens the doors for business between the two countries (Alonso, 2016). What had initiated the
ending of this embargo act was the trade of prisoners between the countries. This has people
wandering what to do now, where do we start, and is there certain factors we need to be aware of to
establish business with and or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2016 Cuba s economy was a bit indecisive, the first half of 2016 Cuba s economy collapsed 0.9%
while during the last half of 2016 Cuba s economy ascended 1% (Chase, 2017). Not only does Cuba
have a bit of an indecisive economy their economy also seeks reliability from other countries such as
the Soviet Union along with Venezuela. For three decades Cuba stayed dependent on the annual
subsidies delivered by the Soviet Union. When all subsidies ceased from the Soviet Union in 1991
Cuba s economy plummeted. Then history later repeated itself with Venezuela as their economy fell
and left Cuba s economy once again in laboriously hard times (Chase, 2017). But everything soon
changed for Cuba s economy once President Barack Obama opened the doors between the United
States and Cuba. As of 2017 Cuba s economy flipped around with the notable increase of U.S. tourist
just from 2016. Cuba s economy has come an astronomical way in twenty six years, they found their
way making it up to the second most popular place to visit throughout the Caribbean s (Chase, 2017).
With the amount of tourist that come to Cuba provides support and cushion on a good feeling of
conducting business in Cuba.
In the twenty first century the main way of communication now is through the internet. In business
sending and receiving emails on time is crucial, every business man in the U.S. knows this. But Cuba
on the other hand does not really understand because even today they are very limited on

  • 4. Charles Babbage And His Engines The author, Wilkes, of this journal article reviews and criticizes Charles Babbage and his engines. The title of the journal questions the current position Charles Babbage is known for, the father of computing. Wilkes considers Babbage a great uncle of computing science instead of the father and gives further details as in to why. The author doesn t only criticize Babbage s work but also informs the readers on how they operate and what their function is. According to the text, Babbage s first difference engine was not a very good idea (Wilkes 15). The difference engine only functioned to do two different tasks which are to compute and tabulate polynomials. This basically states that the difference engine could compute mathematical tables, but further reading attacks this claim. In order for the difference engine to be able to compute, Babbage had to do a great amount of paper and pencil computation in order to calculate the coefficients to be set on the engine (Wilkes 15). As a result, one can criticize that the difference engine doesn t exactly work out mathematical tables on its own without the help of the conductor. One could argue that, because of the time period, the difference computer wasn t made to reduce human labor but to actually mechanize computations. The author also elaborates onto the rough years Babbage had on his creations towards his engine. During the year 1832, Babbage had a dispute with his engineer and production of the engine hindered (Wilkes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Genet s demands for our militaristic and financial aid infringed upon said peace, and as Washington explained, would do far more harm than good if followed. This study was designed using rabbits as animal model to assess impact of Moringa oliefera on female fertility by determining the status of major reproductive hormones of hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis. Serum LH, FSH progesterone, oestradiol and prolactin are the basic essential reproductive endocrinal biochemical biomarkers for the investigation of fertility and the functionality of reproductive axis (hypothalamic/pituitary/gonadal axis) (Harris and Naftolinf., 1970) in female animals. The phyto compounds in the test plant responsible for the observed dose related reduction of key reproductive hormones (FSH, LH and oestradial) may be related to flavonoids, glucosinolates, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins and cinnamates which was reported to as effective agent in plants use for abortion ((Tarafder , 1982; Nath et al., 1992; 1997; Amaglo et al. 2010; Coppin et al. 2013; Torres Castillo et al., 2013). Problem solving skills and the collaboration of ideas allow a wildlife biologist to view the data and create a common solution that will help all or most of the involved species. These scientists must also be patient and wait for data to support or not support a potential theory. Justin Brashares is a good example of problem solving and meticulously looking at the data. In 1998, Brashares went to Africa to study antelope behavior only to find nearly no antelope (Nijhuis, 2014). Just as the Ghanaian farmers and the data told him, as fish harvesting became less successful, hunters harvested more antelope and other species, which in turn resulted in more baboons (because of nearly no predation), and children staying home from school to protect their family farms from the baboons (Nijhuis, 2014). Also, the decreasing fish industry was resulting in a higher rate of child slavery (Nijhuis, 2014). These data findings explained the decline in antelope and how this related to the bigger problem. He had to thoroughly look at the data to find the true cause in the wildlife decline and try to solve the problem in a way that benefited all areas of this issue. He is an immortal being, and usually catches the Joker at the end of whatever the crime is. Also, when the Joker does a crime, Batman usually knows that the Joker was the one who did it, mostly because he is such a vicious person. This novel starts with Kabuo s trial, The accused man, Kabuo Miyamoto, sat proudly upright with a rigid grace, his palms placed softly on the defendant s table the posture of a man who has detached himself insofar as this is possible at his own trial (3). The use of the word proudly makes me already believe that Kabuo is the one to blame for the murder because he is sitting up straight which shows confidence. Kabuo holds an emotionless expression which makes me think of a killer because they usually would not hold any guilt in their face. Putting myself in Kabuo s position and I realized that he is a very strong man because he had to keep himself emotionless and if that were me, I would have been terrified to be there especially since during that time period Japanese people were being discriminated. The use of the word accused is used again to describe Kabuo, The accused man, Kabuo Miyamoto, leaned to his right... (28). The author uses the word accused to let us know that Kabuo might be the killer or he might not be. This helps us to not be biased when we read all of the evidence that shows he is guilty. Advantages Of Adversarial Legal System The origin of the adversarial legal system is very blurry and vague, but the system has been around quite a while and approaches to handle criminal proceeding in a totally opposite method, compared to the inquisitorial legal system. Before discussing the effectiveness and the advantages of a adversarial legal system, it is a good idea to understand the system. Adversarial legal system began in England with common law, and most countries with common law usually tend to follow the adversarial legal system but some countries based on civil law like France, and the Netherlands follow the inquisitorial legal system (). The main difference between the two systems is the role of judge, in an inquisitorial legal system the judge is more involves with the case but in the adversarial legal system the judge s role gets reduced to a neutral third party only to just hear the case, presented by the prosecutor and defense attorney. In Canada our legal system is based around common law and hence resulting in our adversarial legal system, the system is incredibly effective and features many advantages when compared to its counterpart the inquisitorial system. The key elements which allow the adversarial system to be effective are the role judge, fair opportunity for both defendant and prosecutor to present their case while their rights being protected, and finally the introduction of the restorative justice. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous both utilize the twelve steps, along with many other treatment centers. The twelve steps are used as a tool to stay sober and overcome addictions to substance abuse. The first step involves admitting one is powerless over the drug. It also involves admitting that due to the drug, one is no longer in control of his or her life. The second step is coming to the belief that there is a greater power that can restore one to sanity. The greater power can be anything from God to a higher power such as nature. The third step is making the decision to turn one s will and life over to the higher power. This is when an individual fully commits oneself to the belief in something greater than him or her self. The fourth step is a moral inventory of oneself. Many individuals make a list of all the wrongs he or she has done while in the fourth step. (Alcoholics Anonymous Publishing, 1981) The fifth step involves admitting to a higher power, oneself, and other people the exact nature of the offenses one has committed. The sixth step is preparing oneself to have a higher power remove the character defects. Asking the higher power to remove the deficiencies is step number seven. The first half of the book explained all about Flatland and how everything worked in a two dimensional world. There were many different elements that had to be explained before the reader could somewhat grasp the concept of life in only two dimensions. The first thing explained was the social classes which relied on how many sides one had, with a isosceles triangle being the lowest class and a circle being the highest class. If an isosceles triangle does good deeds and lives a good life, he can become an equilateral triangle and move up into a higher class. Of course, they could not comprehend the second dimension because it is virtually impossible to visualize another dimension than one s own. Next, the square was visited by what he thought was a circle but in reality was a sphere. The sphere told him that he had given him the dream of Lineland, and he tried to use the same reasoning he used with the lines and points to convince him that there was another dimension, the third ... Citizens During The Civil War In order to look into the lives of the U.S. citizens during the Civil War I decided to look into the first week from April 12, 1861 to April 18, 1861 of the New York Times. I looked into this week of articles to see how the New York Times covered the outbreak of the war and the people s response to it. Some of the main war events covered were: call for Union to relinquish command of Fort Sumter and first shots of the war, reaction to the surrender of Fort Sumter, Lincoln s Proclamation to add seventy five thousand volunteers to the war efforts, possible attacks on Fort Pickens, and the Confederate reaction to Lincoln s Proclamation. During this week, the north was obviously nervous and scared yet felt they would win as well as confused as to why the war was happening at all. The April 12 paper included information on the confederates asking Major Anderson to surrender Fort Sumter and strategies for the defense of the fort. In the Times article The Forts in Charleston Harbor there is a sense that the union forces have positioned themselves well and the confederates have waited too long allowing the opportunity for reinforcements to arrive if needed at Fort Sumter. These women challenge, deceive, and steal from these men, including one s closest to them in their lives. Surely, one can t believe there are any similarities in this relationship, however, structuralism shows the underlying pattern between Shylock and Jessica. Diane Dreher author of Domination and Defiance: Fathers and Daughters in Shakespeare, points out that the two hold a common trait: Greed. Shylock s greed is expressed through his constant talk on commerce and his precious ducats, and Jessica has inherited that ideology. Before running away with Lorenzo, she drops down a basket filled with money and jewels belonging to her father. One would assume it was an act of reprisal, however, Dreher argues it is greed much like her father s. I thought it was very well written, very engaging and interesting essay that was both reflective and deep. Williams descriptions and stories of her uncle were very thoughtful and understanding, and were incredible to read. Though subtle, they helped to transform the reader s image of what it means to be mentally disabled or handicapped. Particularly, Williams provides a contrast between society s idea of what their lives and personalities are like, compared to what they actually are or can be like. Though Williams uncle was not considered to be normal in terms of society s ideas of normality, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Responsibility Of Gun Violence In The United States Ten years ago, it was unimaginable that gun violence could divide America so profoundly. Such violence has prompted responses which both support and deny the constitutional right to bear arms. This of course references the debate over gun control. The liberal left claims that the public s access to firearms should be closely monitored due to gun violence, while the conservative right debunks all claims by citing the 2nd amendment to the constitution. Both arguments are wholly valid, but it s certain that someone will have to take action as a leader. At the moment, President Obama is leading the charge toward gun control. Over the past few months, he has formatted a plan to regulate both businesses and citizens that buy and sell firearms. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Characters Of The Indigenous People In Mexico, By... Cabeza de Vaca has an interest in depicting the indigenous people he encounters in a certain manner. The perception that the indigenous people of the Americas were naturally subordinate, immoral, and resourceful was vital to the Spanish colonial conquest. It allowed them to indulge in their quest for empire under the guise of trying to bring the indigenous into their society. Truthfully, it was a way for the Spanish to practice their racism and cruelty. Cabeza de Vaca subtly communicates a portrayal of the indigenous that depicts them just as the Spanish empire wanted them to be, while at the same time positioning himself as their superior, therefore solidifying Cabeza de Vaca as a leadership figure who s experience in dealing with the indigenous and landscapes was invaluable to the Spanish s goals. The passage begins with the words And to console them... , a phrase suggesting that Spanish presence in the Americas is bringing great grief to the indigenous, due to how it is causing divides amongst the indigenous, as well as how it creates a justification for the raiding that takes place through an exchange. The Spanish and their allies receive the indigenous goods, while in return the get a measly consolation of words, which in this case are supposed to be the most sound advice possible. It is immediately followed by the robbers told them... , where Cabeza de Vaca has decided to forego erroneously calling the indigenous Indians, and calls the indigenous that are aiding him ... • 44. UTRGV Case Study The current business process of UTRGV, specifically, of course delivery is to deliver classes via two main means. They are the traditional method of face to face and virtually through Blackboard. However, this current process is in need of great improvement after the UTPA and UTB merger. That is, due to the vast distance separating both campuses, students are in need of a third course delivery option. Students need an option that enables them to take all their classes from one single location. As of right now, students must decide to take their classes face to face at the Edinburg and/or Brownsville. However, the problem is that some classes are exclusively offered at one and not both campuses. Currently, the way around this problem is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where information technology can be used to improve such process. Currently, students must choose from two primary methods. They are face to face and online respectively. Yet, with the use of information technology, UTRGV is able to implement and offer students a third option. This option will be better suited to meet the needs of two across both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses. It is through the usage of the online meeting and videoconferencing application WebEx that a third course delivery method is able to be offered. Through WebEx, professors are able to live streamed (and record) their lectures across both campuses. Specifically, professors are able to share their screens and hold an interactive lecture where all the students (even those 70 miles away) are able to contribute and ask questions. Without question, this is of great advantage to students especially when only one course section is being offered. It will eliminate unnecessary travel time and costs which could be put to better productive use elsewhere. • 45. The Role Of Popular Music In The Infantilization Of Women Music can help change lives, heal wounds, or unfortunately, create stigmas. We live in a world that stigmatizes women on a daily basis, and the music industry plays no less of a significant role in reinforcing some of those stigmas. One apparent stigma that the current music industry is promoting is the infantilization of women. Infantilization is the act of treating an adult as a child, and thus denying her or his maturity. Equating women with children, and treating them as if they are weak and dependent is something we can clearly see in pop music. Whether it was through presenting women in infantilized positions in music videos or using infantilizing terms in lyrics, pop music plays a big role in shaping our inaccurate perception of women. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, I will present the results in graphs and tables and discuss them. I plan to split my discussion into two parts parallel to the survey s parts. I predict that the participants would describe the women in the infantilized song lyrics and music videos as childlike and dependent. If my prediction was true, I would use the discussion parts to explain the powerfulness of music in shaping the perception of women in our society. In my discussion, I will incorporate the findings of Huot s and Carlson s research that go along with my predicted finding. I will also use the examples of the infantilization of women in pop culture that are shown in The Codes of Gender; a documentary film, written and directed by Sut Jhally, that focuses on the American s pop culture role in shaping the stereotypical ideas about femininity and masculinity. Also in this section, I will discuss other effects that resulted from the infantilization of women in music. I will use Alanna Vagianos s Huffington post article Drake s Hotline Bling Just Got A Genius Feminist Makeover, to help me provide an example. In this article, Vagianos presents the story of a 27 year old woman named Javetta Laster who was affected by the infantilizing lyrics of the hit song Hotline Bling, and decided to rewrite the lyrics in a more accurate way. One example of Laster s rewritten lyrics shows how the original one was presenting an infantilized look of women; the original lyric says: Why you never alone? Why you always touching road? Used to stay at home, be a good girl. You was in the zone, yeah, while Laster s edited feminist version of the same lyric says: You used to stay at home and be someone I saw fitting into the patriarchal expectations of women to be infantilized good girls which is some bizarre father/daughter husband/wife dynamic left over from women being considered adult children property. • 48. Electric Vehicles Have Different Layouts Of The Batteries Some electric vehicles have different layouts of the batteries. HEVs and PHEVs have large batteries usually in the trunk of the vehicle because the ICE component of the vehicle takes up most of the room in the front of the vehicle. Few PHEV batteries are arranged in a T shape under vehicle. These batteries are still quite large but not as protruding as batteries taking away from the trunk of the vehicle. The reason why there are able to place the battery under the vehicle is because the battery is powerful enough to handle a mild driving distance so the ICE component have reduced gas tank dimensions. Most vehicles today have a gas tank underneath the cabin of the vehicle where the battery now would be. One successful EV is the Tesla Model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The maintenance of an EV is significantly lower compared to an ICE vehicle. One of the best parts of an EV is that the management of an EV is so simple. All you have to do to power the vehicle is to plug the vehicle in to charge. While EV batteries aren t perfect as they too could not function properly and have to be exchanged with a new battery, there are far more other issues for ICE vehicles because of the complicated parts of the vehicle. The battery of EVs are extremely heavy, the center of gravity of the vehicle is much greater because the weight of the vehicle is now in the middle of the vehicle. Vehicles with better centers of gravity have better handling on the road which is a lot safer. EVs also have better drag coefficients than ICE vehicles. Drag coefficients is how easy the vehicle will cut through wind especially when driving at high speeds. Now the Tesla Model S is a luxury EV. It has all the bells and whistles and all of the price too. It is very successful in sales, but is still too expensive for the average American. • 49. The New Greatest Generation By Joel Steins In Joel Steins article The New Greatest Generation he gives his opinion on the millennial generation. The ones that are born between the years of 1980s and 2000s are considered millennials. Stein believes that the millennial generation is lazy. An example of Stein believing millennials are lazy would be when he mentions how we would rather be an assistant than an actual CEO of a company. I believe that statement has something to do with millennials being lazy because we would rather take the easy way out such as being the assistant than working towards being some bigger and better. Another example in his article would have to be how he mentions technology. I agree technology plays a major role of the millennials being lazy because it s addicting, and it makes them feel as if they don t have to do anything because everything is on the internet. Stein also talks about parents and how they re more of a friend than a parent which could also play a part in millennials being lazy. The previous generations wasn t lazy as the millennials are today because our generation has more technology use than they had so they didn t have no choice but to get out and work for their families. The previous generations didn t have any distractions that will make them lose focus such as becoming a leader in the workforce instead of being lazy and okay with being an assistant to someone. Through his research which states that by simply neglecting the variety and diversity of consumer practices in different regions and parts of the world and the various uses to which consumers can put McDonaldization, using its products and procedures to serve their own needs. There are many ways Mcdonaldization can be resisted in: social institution, education, the economy, family, as well as religion and military that our society can reverse the effects on the way we live. In Virginia Beach the school system are based on the SOL(Standards of Learning) testing that has taken control and prevents our children from getting a good education, this is designed to solely grade the school on how many kids move up to next level it is not the importance of teaching and educating. Cuba Open Door Policy Essay Open Door Policy to Cuba Blake Andrews Randolph Community College Open Door Policy to Cuba For five decades the United States and Cuba have been at each other s throats, this is reason that fifty plus years ago the U.S. created and embargo act against Cuba making all business between the two country s illegal. But after such a long time of this going on President Barrack Obama ends the act and thus opens the doors for business between the two countries (Alonso, 2016). For three decades Cuba stayed dependent on the annual subsidies delivered by the Soviet Union. When all subsidies ceased from the Soviet Union in 1991 Cuba s economy plummeted. Then history later repeated itself with Venezuela as their economy fell and left Cuba s economy once again in laboriously hard times (Chase, 2017).
