Atlantis Global Corporation Case Study
To: John Dawson and Board of Directors
From: Alayah Williams, Shawn Williams, and Cross Cultural Team
Subject: Results of Change Management Process
Diagnosis:
Implementation of the strategic human capital plan is a key step in an agency s progress to build a
highly effective, performance based organization by recruiting, acquiring, motivating, and
rewarding a high performing, top quality workforce. The plan becomes the roadmap for continuous
improvement and the framework for transforming the culture and operations of the agency.
(ww.opm.gov 2005). Atlantis Global Corporation has fallen upon some serious problems that has
caused failure to meet its financial obligations and profits to lag. One of the first problems causing

Finally, diversity and multiculturalism was a major issue that plagued AGC. Project management
and sensitivity training should have included all expatriates, employees, and cross cultural teams to
strengthen the interpersonal skills needed to be successful. These problems were diagnosed by
means of employee surveys, interviews, and focus groups. In conclusion, the root causes of these
problems were lack of training, poor leadership styles and pool human capital management.
Intervention:
If AGC is going to survive, it s culture needs an overall improvement to increase its performance,
provide a strategic competitive advantage, and encompass unified beliefs and values to be upheld
throughout the company. By ensuring HR is taking the cognitive approach to openly discuss
various cultures and gain knowledge and feedback in a safe and structured setting, AGC will better
determine who is a better fit as an expatriate for the company. The cognitive approach also focuses
on assessing an individual s knowledge of the cultural backgrounds of the participants in efforts to
build a strong understanding into the cultures of others. (Sabotoka, 2017). Pre departure training

Immanuel Kant Morality
The ethics of Immanuel Kant (1724 1804) generally emphasize the necessity of morality and
reason when it comes to certain actions. In his Moral Philosophy lecture, he discusses the
essential human action of sexual desire and impulse. When reading Of Duties Towards the
Body in Respect of Sexual Impulse, Kant describes why sexual impulses are immoral and how
marriage is the only condition under which sexual impulses are permitted. Kant is right about
certain sexual impulses being immoral but sex only after marriage isn t as common as it used to
be in his day and age. In this essay, I plan to argue how Kant s views on moral and immoral sexual
impulses are still present in today s society but have changed over time. I am convinced that this is

For example, if a man desires a woman as an object of his sexual impulse and not because of who
she is as a person, her humanity is no longer a concern to him. The only object of his desire is
sex, so humanity is set aside. The two will direct all actions towards sex alone, thus sacrificing
humanity for sex. Humanity then becomes a way to satisfy their desires, which is similar to the
nature of animals. Humans are moral beings and our ability to reason distinguishes us from
animals, but sexual desire poses a threat to our humanity. Kant also mentions that it is immoral if
people allow themselves to be used for profit as an object of another s desire. They are disposing
themselves, which makes them a thing that the other satisfies his or her appetite with. Ultimately,
the person is surrendering their humanity for the other s sexual impulse, which puts their morality at
risk. I think sexual desire has become more prevalent in today s society simply because sex is no
longer seen as a sacred action. We live in a society where sex is fast, easy and a person does not
have to work hard for it, they can get it whenever they please. Kant s views on immoral sexual
impulses have reached their peak in recent generations and people believe it is okay to have one
night stands, go to strip clubs or even buy escorts to satisfy their appetites. It is also known as
casual sex and the individuals involved in this lifestyle are looking to fulfill their desires and
appetite at the cost of

The Qualities Of Myself That Stand Out
Everyone in the world has many different characteristics that stand out, but one of the
characteristics about myself that stand out is my generosity and my love for others. All of my
life I put others problems on myself, and though it may not be a healthy thing to do. I always do
it because of my love for people. I have always been willing to put my problems aside to make
others happy. By making others happy I please myself.
I have always wonder why I was given this trait. I just figured it always genetic and yes your traits
are a mixture of your mother and father traits, but that does not explain the other reasons for it. I
believe that there are many scientists that have worked to discover how this is true. We tend to base
our characteristics off of the theories such as behaviorist, humanistic, psychoanalytic, biological,
and cognitive. Behaviorism is founded in the premise of behaviors that can be described
scientifically using facets of philosophy and methodology but also suggesting that theory and not
physiological constraints explain the behaviors of humanity. Moore suggests that radical
behaviorism is not biological but philosophical in its origin. Moore also contends that virtually all
American psychologists are now at least in part, behavioral psychologists (Moore, 2011).
Therefore, despite my own tendencies to believe otherwise, perhaps my nature is at least in part
defined by behaviorist theory. Behaviorism should be an objective science that studies behavior

cars surrounding us at all angles. Blowing their horns, creating a chorus of sound. Some
lackluster, like our minivan, so plain compared to the bright yellow taxis that swarmed the
street. I was so excited to have seen a taxi, it was something I had been looking forward to. Look
mom a taxi! I exclaimed. That s nice honey, she replied unenthusiastically, looking down at her
map. Take a left up here. She said to my dad, driving the car. Are we almost there? My sister,
Molly, piped up, sensing my excitement. My dad just sighed and ignored her. I craned my head
to see out the window, the entire window was filled with skyscrapers, so tall I couldn t see the
sky. It struck me with wonder as I whipped my head from side to side, trying to take it all in.
Molly was mimicking me, she looked around, taking in her new environment. I turned around to
see how my brother, James, was reacting. He, unsurprisingly, was asleep. Eventually, we pulled
over and got out of the car. This area was quieter than the rest, but still loud. I knew we must be
in Brooklyn now. You could still hear bustle of the city, but it faded into the background, a white
noise. I stepped onto the sidewalk. I stared up into the sky. The buildings were much taller than I
imagined. The city smelled of cigarette smoke, the tinge of not quite fresh air. My parents led us

Essay On Service Design
Legacy systems built with specific design principles that can hinder the IT department when they
begin to update or make changes to upgrade the software. Integration of these legacy systems
became an issue in the late 90s when little was done to prepare organizations on how their data
would be shared through other platforms (Erl, 2008). This issue introduced many an array of
problems for organizations, especially when trying to convert into a larger scale model of
previous designs. The lack of stability, extensibility, and inadequate interoperability of frameworks
are just a few of the noted problems when enterprises attempt to adopt SOA on a larger scale (Erl,
2008). The acceptance of service orientation architecture will... Show more content on

The services created will allow consumers the access to the most up to date products while giving
the enterprise the correct data for further advancement in technology and business. Short term
solutions to software can lead to numerous problems. The number one issue has the IT team trying
to diagnose an issue in limited amounts of time. The software can be complicated to understand
thus limiting the amount of time spent on designing the application could result in errors in the
processes for the enterprise. Also, short term operations eliminate the opportunity to reduce cost and
increase production times for the organizations. Ultimately, short term procedures do not allow the
time for real time decisions as well as the time to develop compatible software. In conclusion, a
successful investment will revolve around the amount of time invested in the products. An
organization must devote ample time for a product to reap the maximum amount of benefits. Time
equals money and to get a favorable return an enterprise must put in the time to see any gains from

Abstract
Introduction: Worldwide emergence and spread of antimalarial resistance has led to use of
molecular markers in monitoring of resistant plasmodium parasite. Single nucleotide
polymorphisms in the K13 propellor domain have been recently associated with artemisinin
resistance. This study aims at profiling K13 molecular markers related to reduced susceptibility to
Artemether Lumefantrine in parasite isolates from Msambweni coastal region, Kenya. Methods:
Chelex method was used for extracting DNA from Plasmodium falciparum positive dried blood
spots on filter paper samples. Polymerase chain reaction and sequencing technique was used to
detect single nucleotide polymorphism in K13 propeller gene. MEGA 6 was used to identify
specific SNP combinations using wild type reference sequence (XM_001350122).
Results: A total 150 samples were collected from malariainfected patients in

Comparing The Avengers And Suicide Squad
The trailers for both The Avengers and Suicide Squad are very similar and different in many
ways. They are both about teams that have to be put together to fight an enemy that no one else
could handle. But they are also different in that while one is about heroes saving the day the other
is about villains fighting for the good of humanity for once. When you watch these two trailers
together yo see that for the most part the major points of each movie are similar. Even though both
of these trailers have so many things that are the same and different they are both very effective in
making you want to go and see the movies.

The first thing that you see is a man sitting in front of a committee and he says What if
Superman had decided to fly down rip off the roof of the white house, grab the president out of
the oval office, who would have stopped him (Warner Bros. Pictures,2016). This is him saying
if we had this problem we have no way of solving it right now. You then hear a villainous laugh,
then a slower rock, pop song plays that is a little sad sounding and the lyrics are talking about
freedom and not being owned by anyone. You then see all of these people in cages, then
strapped to carts and chairs, one was even injected with something to be easily moved. The
woman that was in the same meeting as the guy from the beginning says I want to build a team
of some very bad people who I think can do some good (Warner Bros. Pictures,2016) This is
where they show why they were all strapped down it s because they are villains. The people that
were strapped down earlier are now seen free, but wearing typical prison clothing and being given
weapons and their personal clothing which is specific to their character. While they are getting

What Caused The American Revolution Research Paper
There was a feeling of revolution as soon as people left England to come to the New World. John
Adams explains how the revolution began when he says, The Revolution was effected before the
war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people. The duel for America
created a restlessness among the independent minded Americans. However, mother England saw
the necessity of holding her colonies. Eventually, tension is felt between the two sides, resulting in
colonial unity and the sovereignty of a new republic. There were many causes and effects of the
American Revolution.
There were many causes that sparked America s new sense of individuality. One of the first causes
was the increased confidence in military strength, which caused a rise in colonial self esteem. This
increase in self esteem was a result of the valuable gain from the French and Indian War. The French
and Indian War, also shattered the myth of British invincibility, showing the colonials that anything

Tensions first arose when the London government issued the Proclamation of 1763. This
proclamation prohibited settlement in the area beyond the Appalachians, by the colonies. This
angered many Americans because they felt that the land was their birthright, but this document was
not drawn up to oppress the colonies, but it was made to work out the Indian problem to prevent
another uprising like Pontiac s. Mercantilism also added to the tension between Britain and
America. Tension arose from mercantilism because Americans were not at liberty to buy, sell, ship
or manufacture under conditions that they found most profit. The Boston Gazette explained how
the colonists felt about mercantilism by stating, A colonist cannot make a button, a horseshoe, nor a

The Confessions of Nat Turner Essay
The Confessions of Nat Turner
Throughout history people have published articles and books in order to sway the public to their
side. Rulers such as Stalin and Mao used propaganda to keep themselves in power; people such as
Thomas Paine used articles in order to start revolution. Thomas R. Gray, author of The Confessions
of Nat Turner, had that power when he interviewed Turner. Although The Confessions of Nat
Turner is supposedly the words of Turner himself, we have no way to confirm that Gray did not
show the information in order to gain greater benefit from it. It is known that the interviewer,
Thomas R. Gray, was struggling financially. It is possible that he embellished the story in order to...

It is more likely that Gray just jotted down notes, bits and pieces, of what Turner actually conveyed
to him. After the interview, when Gray was writing the final article for publishing, he put it in
words that Turner did not actually say. For example, As we approached the house we discovered
Mr. Richard Whitehead standing in the cotton patch, near the lane fence; we called him over
into the lane, and Will, the executioner, was near at hand, with his fatal axe, to send him to an
untimely grave. [1] It is unlikely that Turner used those exact words. Turner taught himself how
to read and write. He might have had an extensive vocabulary but it is unlikely that he used those
exact words. It is more likely that when Gray was filling in the empty spots he did so in his own
words, and even sometimes with vocabulary that made Turner into a mad genius. Gray most likely
did this so that it would increase the shock value of the story; a better story made for a greater
audience, hence more money.
Another possibility is that Gray might have changed the interview in order to get the reading
public to adhere to his views on African Americans. Gray was known to have had many slaves at
one time in his life. He found

The Real Slumdog s Documentary
a. Globalization/pg. 29: The growing interconnections among nations due to the expansion of
capitalism
The Real Slumdog s documentary was very interesting and eye opening. The amount of
businesses that are run in the one square mile area of Dharavi affect the entire capitalism of the
world. Look at it this way, the Slumdog s as they re called make crappy money to make some very
intricate products. These products will be shipped from Mumbai to the rest of the world eventually.
As the products are marked up by middle men, the money does not filter its way back to the Dharavi
slum. Thus, the products might be ten dollars in a store, but initially the slum workers get paid
barely anything and do not get to see the profit that they could. These people work to survive.
Mumbai is a very intricate and bustling city, and has a large amount of money and products
moved through it each day. In the inner city though, it is not as cheap to make the products.
There also are not the massive amounts of laborers that are found in Dharavi. Moving away from
product production we can look at the dumps of Dharavi. A large amount of the trash from the
inner city is sent to the slum to be processed. The workers that sort through the trash are called
rag pickers. The rag pickers make very little money for what they do, but the work that they do is
very important. They separate the waste into different categories to be processed and recycled
accordingly. They separate the metals from plastics, and

specific aspect of African art was the masks and sculpted heads that represented rulers or royal

Clear Channel and the Cultural and Socio Political Ramifications of Media Consolidation
I.INTRODUCTION
In 1996, Congress passed the Telecommunications Act thereby lifting restrictions on media
ownership that had been in place for over sixty years (Moyers 2003; Bagdikian 2000: xviii). It
was now possible for a single media company to own not just two radio stations in any given local
market, but eight. On the national level, there was no longer any limit on the number of stations a
company could own the Act abandoned the previous nation wide ownership cap of forty stations
(20 FM and 20 AM). This anti regulatory sentiment in government has continued and in 2004 the

While the phenomenon of rampant media consolidation made possible by the government s
deregulatory practices has been greeted with general enthusiasm by the corporate world, it has left
others in society gravely concerned. Media critics and cultural studies observers have voiced
concerns over the negative consequences they believe accompany the phenomenon. They see the
erosion of the idea that radio is to serve the public interest; they see a stifling of diversity and less
choice for the consumer; and they see a threat to American democracy in the form of a possibly
insurmountable corporate media hegemony. And for many, Clear Channel is the poster child for
what s wrong with media deregulation (Cornell Univ. 2004: 66).
Unfortunately however, a February 2004 poll by the Pew Research Center found that 72 percent of
the public has heard nothing about the media ownership [and consolidation] debate (Connell 2004).
Understanding how corporate mergers and consolidation affect the way in which the media
function (especially in the realms of production and distribution) and how the media in turn directly

Exodus
In the book of Exodus, it is about the journey of Moses and how God used him to free the Israelites
from Egypt. Moses was a Hebrew baby that was found by the Pharaoh s daughter and was raised by
them. As Moses got older, he witnessed the cruel way an Egyptian was beating an Israelite worker.
Moses intervened and ended up killing the Egyptian. Out if fear Moses leaves Egypt and lands in
Midian.
While out one day with his flock, Moses came upon a burning bush. That bush ended up being God.
This is where God asks Moses to go back to Egypt to ask the Pharaoh to let his people go. Moses

Three positive things that this book teaches about humanity is that people can be selfless, like the
way Moses stood up for the Israelites. Also that not all people were evil like the Pharaoh; like the

sacrifice of one man saved the lives of thousands. The negative things this book teaches is that
people are selfish, greedy, ungrateful and cruel.

My family and my faith status makes my life worthwhile. It s the love and relationship that

Secondhand Smoke Is Unhealthy For Everyone, Especially For...
Secondhand smoke is unhealthy for everyone, especially for young children. Children are more
susceptible to suffer the detrimental health effects of secondhand smoke because they breathe in
more air than adults due to their size and weight. In addition, children are constantly growing and
developing. During their development stage, children are more sensitive to the consequences of
secondhand smoke, which is ultimately dangerous to their immune and respiratory systems.
Furthermore, secondhand smoke is significantly harmful to children with asthma, which is a chronic
health condition whose symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Children,
both with and without asthma, are powerless to protect themselves from the dangers of secondhand
smoke, so we the adults have to protect them. Secondhand smoke, also referred to as environmental
tobaccosmoke, primarily comes from cigars and cigarettes The effects of breathing in secondhand
smoke is equivalent to smokinga cigarette. In addition, the chemicals released by cigarettes and
cigars contain many poisons, such as benzene, butane, ammonia, toluene, and hydrogen cyanide
(American Lung Association). These poisons from secondhand smoking are prevalent in children s

The Four Seasons By Antonio Lucio Vivaldi
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, outstanding composer of The Four Seasons and more specifically
Gloria in Excelsis Deo, was born March the 4th 1678 and died July 28th 1741. Vivaldi was born
in Venice, Italy: a city in northeastern Italy sited on a group of one hundred seventeen small
islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. He died in Veinna, Austria, the capital and
largest city of Austria, and one of the nine states of Austria, Vienna is also Austria s primary city.
Antonio Vivaldi is a well known composer of the Baroque music style. Baroque music ranges from
1600 1750 where Vivaldi neatly falls into. Baroque music established opera, cantata, oratorio,
concerto, and sonata as musical genres and the vocabulary used for the music is still common in
our musical vocabulary today. Baroque music is a large piece of what we deem classical music .
The music style is what enlarged our size, range and instrumental complexity of the music.
Common composers of the Baroque style are Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel,
Alessandro Scarlatti, Domenico Scarlatti, Antonio Vivaldi, Henry Purcell, Georg Philipp Telemann,
Jean Baptiste Lully, Arcangelo Corelli, Tomaso Albinoni, François Couperin, Denis Gaultier,
Claudio Monteverdi, Heinrich SchГјtz, Jean Philippe Rameau, Jan Dismas Zelenka, and Johann
Pachelbel.
Antonio Vivaldi composed aforementioned The Four Seasons a four part musical series from
1717 to 1721, as well as his two most well known operas Argippo and Bajazet.

Fidel Castro is Cuba. Officially known as the Republic of Cuba, it is also known as the Pearl of
the Caribbean, a country isolated from the capitalist world. For the last 40 years Cuba has been
under the rule of the Castro regimen, a government who brought advances in education and
healthcare, brought electricity to the country side however, ruled with an iron fist when it came to
dealing with it s opposition. Castro jailed many of his political opponents, closed down opposition
newspapers and made no moves towards elections. Under his rule, the amount of land a person

Green Day And The American Idiot
Green Day and the American Idiot The relationship between music and society is an exceptionally
powerful and crucial one. In some cases, this relationship is viewed as one that is harmonious and
beneficial to large communities of people. However, that exact relationship could also be
scrutinized as one that is extremely discordant to other communities. Green Dayhappens to fall
precisely in the middle of that musical spectrum, depending on who is asked. Regardless of
opinion, songs are much more than just music and are essentially retained as pieces of history.
These songs help showcase the trends, behaviors, and even struggles of different time periods.
With that being said, one may ask What all did the musical group Green Day contribute to
society? . Green Day is a pop punk/alternative rock band formed in 1986. The band consists of
three members: Billie Joe Armstrong(lead singer), Mike Dirnt (bass and backing vocals), and
TrГ© Cool (drums and percussion). The band known as Green Day originally formed in
Berkeley, California by Armstrong and Dirnt, and was initially titled Sweet Children. The two
were only fourteen years old at the time they founded their band. The early group s musical style
was influenced greatly by bands like The Ramones and The Sex Pistols. In 1988, Lookout!
Records owner, Larry Livermore, signed a deal with the group to be part of his label. Shortly after
being signed, the band s name was changed to Green Day as a result of Armstrong s and Dirnt s

The Dynamics of Prosecuting Attorneys
Prosecuting attorneys have been enforcing law and order for many years, trying criminal cases
while representing local, state, or federal governments. They interview witnesses and victims,
look at police reports, and do legal research to plan prosecutions for cases. After the information
is collected, it is used in court to present a case against the defendant. Most of the time cases are
begun by reviewing police reports and conducting research. To be able to be successful in this field

Criminal law asks and answers three questions: 1. Did an individual commit a crime? 2. Which

prosecutes criminals is different because each state has its own criminal code. Which means each
state decides what punishment is appropriate for each crime. Criminal codes vary greatly among
state and federal government. Some statues resemble the common law criminal code, but others,
like the New York Penal Law, almost mimic the Model Penal Code (MPC). Common law is
when law is taken from judicial decisions instead of from written law. Model Penal Law was

The Case Of The Exclusive Pink Color Essay
Risks and Impact Risks can vary depending on the specific item that is launched. In the case of the
exclusive pink color introduction of the toy medical kit, the risks associated with this launch will
be somewhat minimized, given the success of the existing green medical kit available to all
retailers. While the riskis minimized with the existing history of the item, the color itself has the
potential to limit the demographics. The medical kit is rated for an age range of three to six
years old. (Fisher Price, n.d.) While this item can be used by all children, pink is generally
viewed as a female specific color choice. Parents may still choose to purchase the green kit to
make it appealing to all children in the family. It may unintentionally limit the amount of people this
specific color would appeal to, thus creating a slower inventory turn. Fisher Price would run this
color in a batch productionbut any unsold inventory creates a liability. Additional risks can be in
the production itself. Toys are in a very regulated industry and any defects in production that are
not within the regulatory standards can be either recalled if they are already being sold to
consumers or cause the entire production run to be discarded or destroyed. Both instances are very
costly but taking the initiative to create a safe work environment that is compliant with all
regulations can mitigate that risk.

Alternative Energy Sources For Fossil Fuels
Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, from the time we are born until the time we die we
are consuming energy. Currently the majority of this energy comes from fossil fuels (i.e. coal,
natural gas, and oil). Fossil fuels made up eighty seven percent of the energy consumed worldwide
in 2012 (Gonzalez Lucky). There are many people who do not believe there is an energycrisis, or
that there is anything wrong with depending on fossil fuels, however fossil fuels are non
renewable, which means once they are gone we are unable to create more. In addition, the carbon
that is located in fossil fuels and released from when used for energy, contributes to the rising global
temperature (Maehlum, 2013). This is not the only detrimental effect of fossil fuels, but is perhaps
the most serious. The alternate option is to use alternative energysources (i.e. wind, solar, nuclear,
and hydroelectric). These sources are considered renewable, because they are able to replenish and
restore themselves over a short period of time (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). These
sources involve using specialized technology to harness Earth s natural energy and convert it into a
form that we are able to use. While alternative energy sources can still have a slight effect on the
environment, they generally have less of an impact than fossil fuels (Union of Concerned
Scientists). They also have many benefits including creating more jobs, making energy more
affordable, and requiring less material

Miss Julie and Swedish Culture
Miss Julie and Swedish Culture
The play Miss Julie by August Strindberg is set in Sweden in the late 1800 s on the count s estate.
The play unfolds on Midsummer s eve throughout the night of the annual celebration. Jean, a thirty
year old valet, is attempting to enjoy an evening in the kitchen with his lover Christine who works
alongside Jean on the manor as a cook. The couples evening is rudely interrupted by miss Julie, the
count s bitter daughter, who requests Jean be her dance partner at the festivities. The two risk being
caught together to continue talking through the night. However, throughout the night both Jean and
Julie reveal who they really are which leads them to resent one another and eventually leads Julie

depiction of late 1800 s Swedish culture is every respect.
It is not a coincidence that the play Miss Julie hits the cultural bulls eye. The writer Johan August
Strindberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1849 and was a citizen of Sweden for a majority of
his life. Many of the themes of the play such as socio economic classes, religion, and gender roles

Marketing Australia for the Commonwealth Games

decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11
times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of
winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australiais by virtue of them having a
longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens

Zatoichi (27 films, 1962 2003)
This particular title became globally known to the public through Takeshi Kitano s 2003 movie, The
Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi . However, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Before Kitano s movie,
there have been 26 more.
Let us take things from the beginning though. Our hero s first appearance was in a small story
by Kan Shimozawa, titled Zatoichi, although the concept, as a whole, was based on a secondary
character of this story, a blind gambler. He could guess what the dice would bring almost every
time. According to the Library of Congress, the story was included in a book titled Futokoro
Techo, which was first published in Japan by Chuo Koronsha in 1961.
The idea to write a Zatoichi movie came from Shintaro Katsu, who came to be the man behind the
hero, since he was the leading actor in all of the initial 26 movies (and director in the last) and also
in the TV series. The production company that took on the project was Daiei Studios.
The films were set during the Tokugawa era, where, except for some samurai that were under
government service, the rest of the samurai were forbidden to carry any weapon. It was the reason

A report released from NYC HRA revealed that over 40% of SNAP cases have balances of less

total annual medical costs of obesity in the United States in now an estimated $190 million.12A
recent report estimated that by 2030 U.S. healthcare spending will rise to 68 billion annually if
obesity rates continue to increase.13
Obesity rates in the US are rising due to food insecurity. One in six people in the U.S. are food
insecure, while two thirds of adults and one third Americans are overweight or obese.14 Studies
have found that wealthy districts have three times as many supermarkets compared to the
poor.15 Kevin Conocannon of the USDA noted in an interview that people in poorer areas
sometimes have narrower variety of food options.16 SNAP recipients face barriers to achieving
nutritious diets due to lack of availability in their neighborhood. Healthy food often comes with
higher costs, so most people with lower income result to eating foods with lower cost and higher
calories. According to a 2009 report by the USDA, as many as 23.5 million Americans live more
than one mile from a supermarket with limited access to a vehicle.17 Food Deserts are particularly

The Success Of Project Portfolio Management
Jeffrey Pinto defines project portfolio management as, the systematic process of selecting,
supporting, and managing a firm s collection of projects. (p. 92). Many large firms can have
multiple projects going on at the same time. These projects might support each other or can be
stand alone projects. This essay will examine the keys to successful project portfolio management
and analyze the key difficulties in successfully implementing them. The success of project portfolio
management is determined by three key factors. The factors include: flexible structure and freedom
of communication, low cost environmental scanning, and time paced transition. Projects that
involve difficult channels of communication can be very difficult to develop. The projects that
involve lots of red tape and other levels of administration can hinder them from meeting
milestones and can be doomed to fail from the beginning. One of the main keys to a projects
success is communication. Pinto writes, Successful portfolios emerge from environments that
foster flexibility and open communication. When project teams are allowed to improvise and
experiment on existing product lines, innovative new product ideas are more likely to emerge. (p.
95). This open communication and flexibility allows team members to voice their concerns when
issues arise and allow them to come up with alternatives freely with having to get approval from
project leaders or management. The next key to success is low cost

that government will protect their private property, but not their slaves. After Lincoln was
assassinated on April 14, 1865, the new President of United Statescontinued following his Ten
Percent Plan.
Also Lincoln proposed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, promulgated that all persons held
as slaves within any State, or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in
rebellion against United States, shall be then, thenceforward and forever free. Nevertheless,
Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery in the states. Lincoln hoped to inspire all the slaves
in the Confederacy with the Proclamation. Especially to support the Union Cause and keep
European countries, in particular England and France, from politically giving the confession and
military aid to Confederacy.

Voting Age To 16 Research Paper
The voting age has been a controversial topic for years now. In Indiana, voters have to be 18
before the next General, Municipal, or Special Education to register to vote. Other states allow
you to be younger than 18 when you register as long as the voter is 18 when they are actually
voting ( Voter Registration Age Requirements by State. ). However, whether or not the voting age
should remain 18 or go down to 16 has been debated and still remains questionable. Although this
is quite the controversial topic, many people side with the decision to lower the voting age to 16
and argue that there are several pros. One of these pros is that teenagers spend more than half of
their time in a classroom setting. While emerged in this setting, they... Show more content on

16 year olds are not educated enough to make a decision on who should run our country. For
example, at Central High School, a student cannot take a Government class until their senior year,
unless the student is graduating early. Therefore, the student would not get a concept of politics
unless they had been previously educated by an outside source. The average 16 year old is either
a sophomore or junior. If the voting age was moved to 16, not only would the teenager be
uneducated for their first election, but they would not be educated until their senior year. Along
with the lack of a political education at school, the student has to endure outside opinions that
could potentially swat the student s political opinion. These outside sources, such as parental
views, TV ads, friends opinions, etc., make it hard for the inexperienced teenagers to have a
mind of their own (Debono, Meaney). The average teenager grows up in a household with a
family; a family that has views of their. These views have been instilled in their lives from birth.
Once this has happened, the teenager s first response to anything is what they ve always know and
grown up with. If the voting age stayed the same, it would allow students to take the Government
course and form opinions of their

  • 2. Atlantis Global Corporation Case Study To: John Dawson and Board of Directors From: Alayah Williams, Shawn Williams, and Cross Cultural Team Subject: Results of Change Management Process Diagnosis: Implementation of the strategic human capital plan is a key step in an agency s progress to build a highly effective, performance based organization by recruiting, acquiring, motivating, and rewarding a high performing, top quality workforce. The plan becomes the roadmap for continuous improvement and the framework for transforming the culture and operations of the agency. (ww.opm.gov 2005). Atlantis Global Corporation has fallen upon some serious problems that has caused failure to meet its financial obligations and profits to lag. One of the first problems causing AGC s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, diversity and multiculturalism was a major issue that plagued AGC. Project management and sensitivity training should have included all expatriates, employees, and cross cultural teams to strengthen the interpersonal skills needed to be successful. These problems were diagnosed by means of employee surveys, interviews, and focus groups. In conclusion, the root causes of these problems were lack of training, poor leadership styles and pool human capital management. Intervention: If AGC is going to survive, it s culture needs an overall improvement to increase its performance, provide a strategic competitive advantage, and encompass unified beliefs and values to be upheld throughout the company. By ensuring HR is taking the cognitive approach to openly discuss various cultures and gain knowledge and feedback in a safe and structured setting, AGC will better determine who is a better fit as an expatriate for the company. The cognitive approach also focuses on assessing an individual s knowledge of the cultural backgrounds of the participants in efforts to build a strong understanding into the cultures of others. (Sabotoka, 2017). Pre departure training allows the employee and family members to enter the assignment already equipped with realistic expectations; a basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Immanuel Kant Morality The ethics of Immanuel Kant (1724 1804) generally emphasize the necessity of morality and reason when it comes to certain actions. In his Moral Philosophy lecture, he discusses the essential human action of sexual desire and impulse. When reading Of Duties Towards the Body in Respect of Sexual Impulse, Kant describes why sexual impulses are immoral and how marriage is the only condition under which sexual impulses are permitted. Kant is right about certain sexual impulses being immoral but sex only after marriage isn t as common as it used to be in his day and age. In this essay, I plan to argue how Kant s views on moral and immoral sexual impulses are still present in today s society but have changed over time. I am convinced that this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if a man desires a woman as an object of his sexual impulse and not because of who she is as a person, her humanity is no longer a concern to him. The only object of his desire is sex, so humanity is set aside. The two will direct all actions towards sex alone, thus sacrificing humanity for sex. Humanity then becomes a way to satisfy their desires, which is similar to the nature of animals. Humans are moral beings and our ability to reason distinguishes us from animals, but sexual desire poses a threat to our humanity. Kant also mentions that it is immoral if people allow themselves to be used for profit as an object of another s desire. They are disposing themselves, which makes them a thing that the other satisfies his or her appetite with. Ultimately, the person is surrendering their humanity for the other s sexual impulse, which puts their morality at risk. I think sexual desire has become more prevalent in today s society simply because sex is no longer seen as a sacred action. We live in a society where sex is fast, easy and a person does not have to work hard for it, they can get it whenever they please. Kant s views on immoral sexual impulses have reached their peak in recent generations and people believe it is okay to have one night stands, go to strip clubs or even buy escorts to satisfy their appetites. It is also known as casual sex and the individuals involved in this lifestyle are looking to fulfill their desires and appetite at the cost of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Qualities Of Myself That Stand Out Everyone in the world has many different characteristics that stand out, but one of the characteristics about myself that stand out is my generosity and my love for others. All of my life I put others problems on myself, and though it may not be a healthy thing to do. I always do it because of my love for people. I have always been willing to put my problems aside to make others happy. By making others happy I please myself. I have always wonder why I was given this trait. I just figured it always genetic and yes your traits are a mixture of your mother and father traits, but that does not explain the other reasons for it. I believe that there are many scientists that have worked to discover how this is true. We tend to base our characteristics off of the theories such as behaviorist, humanistic, psychoanalytic, biological, and cognitive. Behaviorism is founded in the premise of behaviors that can be described scientifically using facets of philosophy and methodology but also suggesting that theory and not physiological constraints explain the behaviors of humanity. Moore suggests that radical behaviorism is not biological but philosophical in its origin. Moore also contends that virtually all American psychologists are now at least in part, behavioral psychologists (Moore, 2011). Therefore, despite my own tendencies to believe otherwise, perhaps my nature is at least in part defined by behaviorist theory. Behaviorism should be an objective science that studies behavior ... • 5. Descriptive Essay On A Little Accident Brooklynn BurchettTiny Twins I popped up from my seat to look out the window, to see all the cars surrounding us at all angles. Blowing their horns, creating a chorus of sound. Some lackluster, like our minivan, so plain compared to the bright yellow taxis that swarmed the street. I was so excited to have seen a taxi, it was something I had been looking forward to. Look mom a taxi! I exclaimed. That s nice honey, she replied unenthusiastically, looking down at her map. Take a left up here. She said to my dad, driving the car. Are we almost there? My sister, Molly, piped up, sensing my excitement. My dad just sighed and ignored her. I craned my head to see out the window, the entire window was filled with skyscrapers, so tall I couldn t see the sky. It struck me with wonder as I whipped my head from side to side, trying to take it all in. Molly was mimicking me, she looked around, taking in her new environment. I turned around to see how my brother, James, was reacting. He, unsurprisingly, was asleep. Eventually, we pulled over and got out of the car. This area was quieter than the rest, but still loud. I knew we must be in Brooklyn now. You could still hear bustle of the city, but it faded into the background, a white noise. I stepped onto the sidewalk. I stared up into the sky. The buildings were much taller than I imagined. The city smelled of cigarette smoke, the tinge of not quite fresh air. My parents led us up a brick stairway and through a screen door, ... Integration of these legacy systems became an issue in the late 90s when little was done to prepare organizations on how their data would be shared through other platforms (Erl, 2008). This issue introduced many an array of problems for organizations, especially when trying to convert into a larger scale model of previous designs. The lack of stability, extensibility, and inadequate interoperability of frameworks are just a few of the noted problems when enterprises attempt to adopt SOA on a larger scale (Erl, 2008). The software can be complicated to understand thus limiting the amount of time spent on designing the application could result in errors in the processes for the enterprise. Also, short term operations eliminate the opportunity to reduce cost and increase production times for the organizations. Ultimately, short term procedures do not allow the time for real time decisions as well as the time to develop compatible software. In conclusion, a successful investment will revolve around the amount of time invested in the products. An organization must devote ample time for a product to reap the maximum amount of benefits. The amount of businesses that are run in the one square mile area of Dharavi affect the entire capitalism of the world. Look at it this way, the Slumdog s as they re called make crappy money to make some very intricate products. These products will be shipped from Mumbai to the rest of the world eventually. As the products are marked up by middle men, the money does not filter its way back to the Dharavi slum. Mumbai is a very intricate and bustling city, and has a large amount of money and products moved through it each day. In the inner city though, it is not as cheap to make the products. There also are not the massive amounts of laborers that are found in Dharavi. Moving away from product production we can look at the dumps of Dharavi. They see the erosion of the idea that radio is to serve the public interest; they see a stifling of diversity and less choice for the consumer; and they see a threat to American democracy in the form of a possibly insurmountable corporate media hegemony. In this short clip, Penn was seen mentioning the concept of being cautious in life. He said, caution can be something that keeps you alive but it can also be a disease. He said it as if caution is something that grows as you get older. You don t notice it at first but when time progresses it becomes more and more prominent in your life, just like a disease. • 28. The Case Of The Exclusive Pink Color Essay Risks and Impact Risks can vary depending on the specific item that is launched. In the case of the exclusive pink color introduction of the toy medical kit, the risks associated with this launch will be somewhat minimized, given the success of the existing green medical kit available to all retailers. While the riskis minimized with the existing history of the item, the color itself has the potential to limit the demographics. The medical kit is rated for an age range of three to six years old. (Fisher Price, n.d.) While this item can be used by all children, pink is generally viewed as a female specific color choice. Parents may still choose to purchase the green kit to make it appealing to all children in the family. It may unintentionally limit the amount of people this specific color would appeal to, thus creating a slower inventory turn. Fisher Price would run this color in a batch productionbut any unsold inventory creates a liability. Additional risks can be in the production itself. Toys are in a very regulated industry and any defects in production that are not within the regulatory standards can be either recalled if they are already being sold to consumers or cause the entire production run to be discarded or destroyed. Both instances are very costly but taking the initiative to create a safe work environment that is compliant with all regulations can mitigate that risk. • 31. Alternative Energy Sources For Fossil Fuels Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, from the time we are born until the time we die we are consuming energy. Currently the majority of this energy comes from fossil fuels (i.e. coal, natural gas, and oil). Fossil fuels made up eighty seven percent of the energy consumed worldwide in 2012 (Gonzalez Lucky). There are many people who do not believe there is an energycrisis, or that there is anything wrong with depending on fossil fuels, however fossil fuels are non renewable, which means once they are gone we are unable to create more. In addition, the carbon that is located in fossil fuels and released from when used for energy, contributes to the rising global temperature (Maehlum, 2013). This is not the only detrimental effect of fossil fuels, but is perhaps the most serious. The alternate option is to use alternative energysources (i.e. wind, solar, nuclear, and hydroelectric). These sources are considered renewable, because they are able to replenish and restore themselves over a short period of time (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). These sources involve using specialized technology to harness Earth s natural energy and convert it into a form that we are able to use. While alternative energy sources can still have a slight effect on the environment, they generally have less of an impact than fossil fuels (Union of Concerned Scientists). They also have many benefits including creating more jobs, making energy more affordable, and requiring less material ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11 times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australiais by virtue of them having a longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland, 2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come and watch the Commonwealth games. There is an Australian consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia to attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and Perth. As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth games in Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. The Success Of Project Portfolio Management Jeffrey Pinto defines project portfolio management as, the systematic process of selecting, supporting, and managing a firm s collection of projects. (p. 92). Many large firms can have multiple projects going on at the same time. These projects might support each other or can be stand alone projects. This essay will examine the keys to successful project portfolio management and analyze the key difficulties in successfully implementing them. The success of project portfolio management is determined by three key factors. The factors include: flexible structure and freedom of communication, low cost environmental scanning, and time paced transition. Projects that involve difficult channels of communication can be very difficult to develop. The projects that involve lots of red tape and other levels of administration can hinder them from meeting milestones and can be doomed to fail from the beginning. One of the main keys to a projects success is communication. Pinto writes, Successful portfolios emerge from environments that foster flexibility and open communication. When project teams are allowed to improvise and experiment on existing product lines, innovative new product ideas are more likely to emerge. (p. 95). This open communication and flexibility allows team members to voice their concerns when issues arise and allow them to come up with alternatives freely with having to get approval from project leaders or management. Post-Civil War America and Policies After the Civil War, which culminated in 1865, the government of United States needed to reunify southern and northern states back together, and the only solution for that were reforms in South. The new political developments began In 1863 when president Abraham Lincoln suggested Ten Percent Plan which indicated that a southern state could be readmitted to the Union as soon as ten percent of its voters asseverated the oath of allegiance to the Union.
