Similarities Between Catt And Susan B Anthony
Woodrow Wilson, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Susan B. Anthony share a common purpose in their
addresses advocating women s suffrage.Wilson s Address to the Senate on the Nineteenth Amendment
expresses the opinion he holds about the lack of control over women being able to vote; he prioritizes
the use of logos to create an argument consisting of present fact and his own belief of how the rest of
the world will see them as a nation if they do not ratify the Nineteenth Amendment. Catt s The Crisis
analyzes her present issue of the acknowledgement of women s suffrage. Catt explains that through
the acknowledgement of women s suffrage, women have been given more freedom, yet not the same
equality as men. Catt wants more than just exceptions to social rules, she wants people to understand
that a woman is not only an imperative cog in the societal machine, but equality should never be a
crisis again. Susan B. Anthony wastes no time getting to the point in On Women s Right to Vote; she
instantly begins her speech with a strong denial of allegations thrown her way and moves right in to
speak about the government basing a law off the sex of a person and how the government is not
treated as a democracy. Through each of these addresses Wilson, Catt, and Anthony are divided by
their point of view and united by their cause, yet only Carrie Chapman Catt s address holds the most
effective reasoning.

Allied Health Academy Personal Statement
Twenty percent chance of living and she survived. Claire was diagnosed with stage 4 Acute
Lymphocytic Leukemia two weeks after her birth. She is now a thriving eight year old cancer
survivor. The researchers, doctors, nurses, and therapists, are the main reason I have an adorable
cousin here today. From the moment I heard the magnitude of what my little cousin was battling, I set
my goal of a career in medicine, and the Allied Health Academy at Williamstown High School is that
right first step to achieving my goal. The Allied Health Academy is the perfect path for me to get an

Cuban Missile Crisis Research Paper
History is imperative to John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev during the Cuban missile crisis of
1962.
John F. Kennedy happened to be the 35th and the youngest President to be elected in the history of the
United States. After Kennedy took office in 1961, he authorized the Bay of Pigs invasion, which was
led by the CIA and exiles from Cuba. Even with this, they were still unable to overthrow Fidel Castro.
The failure and the tensions the Soviet Union had in 1961 about the Berlin Crisis, set the early events
of the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.
Nikita Khrushchev was on the other hand the first Communist Secretary of the Soviet Union in 1953.
He later served as the Premier from 1958 to 1964 after the power struggle following Stalin s death. ...

Khrushchev eventually made a proposal that stated clearly no more weapons to Cuba and those within
Cuba withdrawn or destroyed, and you reciprocate by withdrawing your blockade and also agree not
to invade Cuba. (Page 68) He also stated that, the U.S. should not interfere with Russian ships.
President Kennedy and Khrushchev continued to exchange drafts for the resolution of the crisis and
eventually recognised the possibility of a nuclear war, which they later publicly agreed to deal, in
which the United States had to make a pledge not to invade Cuba and the Soviets in return dismantle

Introduction. Rms Titanic Sank In The North Atlantic Ocean
Introduction
RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning of 15 April 1912, after colliding
with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.
RMS means Royal Mail Steamship was a British passenger liner that
Of the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, more than 1,500 died, making it one of the deadliest
commercial peacetime maritime disasters in modern history. The largest ship afloat at the time it
entered service, the RMS Titanic was the second of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the
White Star Line, and was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. Thomas Andrews, her
architect, died in the disaster. There are many reasons caused this accident: Mistake of the ... Show

The pendulum s point of contact is instrumented, with a readout of forces electronically recorded in
millisecond detail [Figure 1].
A piece of modern high quality steel was tested along with the coupon from the hull steel. Both
coupons were placed in a bath of alcohol at 1°C to simulate the conditions on the night of the Titanic
disaster. When the coupon of the modern steel was tested, the pendulum swung down and halted with
a thud; the test piece had bent into a V. However, when the coupon of the Titanic steel was tested, the
pendulum struck the coupon with a sharp ping, barely slowed, and continued up on its swing; the
sample, broken into two pieces, sailed across the room [1].
The Rivets: The wrought iron rivets that fastened the hull plates to the Titanic s main structure also
failed because of brittle fracture from the high impact loading of the collision with the iceberg and the
low temperature water on the night of the disaster. With the ship travelling at nearly 25 mph, the
contact with the iceberg was probably a series of impacts that caused the rivets to fail either in shear or
by elongation [2]. As the iceberg scraped along sections of the Titanic s hull, the rivets were sheared
off, which opened up riveted seams. Also, because of the tremendous forces created on impact with
the iceberg, the rivet heads in the areas of contact were simply popped off,

Hannibal Lecter Mental Disorder
In the film Silence of the Lambs (1991), one of the main characters suffers from two noticeable mental
disorders; narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). The film delves
into the mind of Hannibal Lecter, a convicted serial killer being contained in a maximum security cell
at a mental institution. The antagonist of the film, Clarice, is an up and coming FBI trainee sent to
interview Lecter in an attempt to get advice on how to apprehend another active serial killer. Being a
former renowned psychiatrist, Lecter is entirely capable of helping find the suspect, but his dangerous
and impulsive personality makes the process difficult. Lecter displays extreme symptoms of both

him to get out of the mental institution, not because he wants to help her. Lecter also acts very calm

hostile. For example, when Lecter is being held at the courthouse in Memphis he has a conversation
with Clarice about the Buffalo Bill case. The conversation starts off calm until he begins asking

Can Officers Effectively Prosecute Domestic Violence...
When prosecuting criminal domestic violence cases too many officers constructed their entire case
only on statements made by the victim. However, victims of domestic violence are more likely than
victims of other violent crime to recant or refuse to cooperate in prosecutorial efforts (Breitenbach,
2008, p. 1256). Officers must consider that victims of domestic violence may refuse to testify because
of fear of retaliation, intimidation, financial dependence, emotional attachment, and/or because they
reunited with the batterer. If the victim refused to testify during court, their statement against the
abuser becomes hearsay evidence. Several recent cases have had a huge influence on how those
statements and hearsay evidence may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, any out of court statements made by witnesses and/or victims to law enforcement must be
excluded unless the defendant had prior opportunity to cross examine the unavailable witnesses
(Byrom, 2005). The only non testimonial statements that would be utilized in court, without direct
testimony from the witness and/or complainant, were the taped 911 phone calls reporting the incident.
If the victim testified, their previous statements would be allowed as evidence without limitation
because the witness was subjected to cross examination. However, if the victim refused to testify, any
testimonials made to law enforcement were not allowed as evidence in the court proceedings.
In light of these legal changes, officers needed to construct their domestic violence cases under the
assumption that the victim would not be participating in the prosecution. The case commenced at the
time the call was received by dispatch up until the case was presented to a judge or jury. Therefore,
officers needed to complete the proper procedures to secure recordings of the calls made to the 911
dispatch center to report the domestic situation. In addition to having the subject, victim and/or
witnesses complete written and/or video statements, the officer must diligently identify, collect, and
photograph evidence at the crime scene (Ellison, 2002). This required officers to visit the victim
several days later to photograph bruising, because some bruising

How To Solve The Problems In Chelsea
Space, there is not enough of it in Chelsea, Alabama. Chelsea has many historical and old buildings
but some need to be torn down, or destroyed. Chelsea needs to keep some that hold meaning but other
buildings that are abandoned and old need to go. The people of Chelsea are at conflict between tearing
down the buildings or preserving the buildings. If Chelsea tears down some buildings and make space
for things that Chelsea does not have that would be wonderful. It will cost some yes but it is worth it
in the end. Chelsea needs to tear down buildings that are no longer used and that are old and make
space for all the things that Chelsea could benefit from as a town.
The problem in Chelsea is, Chelsea doesn t have enough space because the city has many historical

Analysis Of The Arguments For Atheism
Theism or Atheism
By Sam Heney
This essay will discuss some of the arguments for theism and will rebutt them from an atheist s point
of view. Atheism is simply the rejection of the belief in the existence of deities whereas theism is the
opposite. There have been indications of theism stretching back to very early Homo sapiens with
evidence of rituals and superstitions. The dead were buried ceremoniously showing the belief in some
kind of afterlife. Atheism is seemingly a lot more uncommon throughout history with very little
evidence of our ancient ancestors ever lacking some kind of belief in a higher presence. This debate
has been going mainly since the Renaissance period but made great progress after the first and second
world wars. Between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would write this essay with arguments for atheism but that would be counter productive as the entire
point of theism is that it is suggesting the existence of a deity and therefore it is a theist s burden to
provide evidence and/or proof of the deity s existence. Presented in this essay are four of some of the
most commonly used arguments for theism (not including arguments that rely purely on faith) and
rebuttals to each argument.
Firstly I will introduce a very popular argument for theism is that there can not be a causeless cause;
someone must have caused the universe to come into existence. Of course the natural response to this
is to ask; who caused God to come into existence? This argument is obviously internally inconsistent.
Next I will put forth an argument for theism known as the Argument from Design . This common
argument suggests that complex things such as watches and televisions are created by intelligent
people. Surely the intricacy of life spawning from simple DNA, as well as the other examples of
complexity in the universe also imply the influence of an intelligence? A rebuttal to this argument
would be that god is certainly complex, so who created him? If one says that he has always existed,
then why can t one instead say that the universe (and life) have always existed? Besides, there are
clear examples of lackluster design in nature. For example the human eye has a blind spot when it
could have been designed like the squid s (that doesn t have

The Life Of Sitting Bull
Early life
Sitting Bull was born in Dakota Territory. He was named Jumping Badger at birth, when he was
fourteen years old he accompanied a group of Lakota warriors (which included his father and his
uncle Four Horns) in a raiding party to take horses from a camp of Crow warriors. Jumping Badger
displayed bravery by riding forward and counting coup on one of the surprised Crow, which was
witnessed by the other mounted Lakota. Upon returning to camp his father gave a celebratory feast at
which he conferred his own name upon his son.

We all know that shopping at stores requires us to go to mall or department stores in buying supplies
and spend our money. Now we live in the age of internet and buying things can now be done by
clicking a mouse. Because of the numerous benefits of shopping online more and more people these
days prefer online shopping over conventional shopping. But which one gives us the best benefits?
Our discussion centered on three differences between shopping at stores and shopping online.
Our first point of discussion is the dissimilarity between shopping at stores and shopping online is
time. Shopping in the stores spend more time than shopping online. A trip to the mall could take two
to three hours including transportation time. You must spend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many internet companies operate as online retailers only which means they don t have to pay any
intermediaries such as distributors and they don t have to hire sales people. Thus, they can pass some
of the savings to the customers by offering reduced prices. Internet also enables the customers to do
price comparisons in an instant, thus, they can buy from the online retailer that offers the best prices.
Internet companies are aware of this thus, they price their inventory competitively. Moreover,
companies get bigger audience of their products online so they often put clearance products on sale
and offer other deals to clear out inventory faster. Moreover, most customers are also able to save on
taxes because taxes are applicable only if the online retailer operates in the same state as the customer.
Shopping mall retailers have higher costs because not only they have to invest in physical property but
they also have to hire sales people and managerial staff. Their audience is only limited to the number
of visitors in the shopping mall at any time. Thus, they are forced to generate higher sales per
customers which mean higher prices on the average. It s also more expensive for the visitors to
compare prices in terms of both cost and time, thus, the shopping mall customers are at a

The Importance Of Benevolent Sexism
When I first stumbled upon benevolent sexism in the textbook I had to stick to the section for a little
bit. I was very intrigued by the concept as I was completely unaware that it classified as sexism, let
alone that it was actually harmful to the egalitarian movement. Benevolent sexism is mistaken with an
appreciation and respect for women, which can make it hard to identify and then classify correctly. In
the textbook, this concept is described as the following: a more subtle kind of sexism that argues for
women s special niceness and purity (...) You may initially think that benevolent sexism cannot be
harmful. However, it still emphasizes that women are different from men and that they are also
weaker. (Matlin 58) This struck a chord with me particularly because I did initially think that it could
not be harmful, and was oblivious to the consequences that its existence entailed. Discussion in class
as well as textbook readings showed that this sexism was very much alive and running in our society,
which prompted me to think, why is it that there aren t obvious efforts against benevolent sexism? My
own experience answered this question; a great portion of women do not see this invisible sexism and
endorse it unknowingly.
This concept goes well with what we discussed in class known as gender complementarity , the idea
that women serves as complements to men, we are here to assist them and complete them. This idea
fetishes the woman and turns her into an object with a

Notes On Machine Learning And The Development Of Computer...
Chapter 2: INTRODUCTION TO MACHINE LEARNING
2.1 Definition
Learning like intelligence, covers a wide range of processes that it is challenging to define accurately.
Regarding machines, we might define, very broadly, that a machine learns whenever it changes its
structure, program, or data (based on its inputs or in response to external information) in such a
manner that its expected future performance improves [5]. Machine learning is a type of artificial
intelligence (AI) that equips computers with the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed.
Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that can teach themselves to
grow and change when exposed to new data.
The process of machine learning is analogous to data mining. Both systems explore through data to
look for patterns. However, machine learning uses that data to detect patterns in data and adjust
program actions accordingly. Currently, machine learning is more advanced from pattern recognition
to theory that computers can learn without being programmed to perform specific tasks.
The iterative aspect of machine learning is important because as models are exposed to new data, they
are able to independently adapt. They learn from previous computations to produce reliable,
repeatable decisions and results. [6]
Robot learning is a research field at the intersection of machine learning and robotics. It studies
techniques allowing a robot to acquire unique skills or adapt to its environment

Vikash Pathak And George W Bush s Themes Of Unity
Unity JK Rowling once said, We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided . This
quote is stating that unity is needed for a country in tough times. Unity is what holds our country and
society together. In George W. Bush s Address to the Nation, he is trying to keep his country unified
after the 9/11 terrorist attack. He had to inspire and insure his country that the government and the
military were supporting them. Vikash Pathak gave the speech Important India, this speech was given
to show the significance of sticking together as a country and as a society. The speech Important India
by Vikash Pathak and George W Bush s address to the Nation both reflect a similar theme of Unity.
Bush s Address to the Nation portrays the message of standing together throughout a tough situation,
unifying that, Pathak s essay communicates that without unity, a society will fail. George W Bush s
Address to the Nation after 9/11 showed the need for unity, and it was needed to keep the United
States of America strong in this tough situation. 9/11 was a tragic terrorist attack made on the United
States of America in 2001, this event shocked the nation and the world. President Bush made this

A Comparison of Two Accounts of Life After Death Essay
A Comparison of Two Accounts of Life After Death Materialism is the view that the body and mind
are inseparable, and for there to be life after death then the body must be resurrected, this is much like
the Christian view of life after death.
John Hick was a materialist and he argued that, in certain circumstances, it would be possible that the
dead could exist as themselves after death, if an exact replica were to appear. Hick uses thought
experiments to show the person who dies in this World is the same person who is resurrected in the
next. He uses examples of using a character called John Smith. If John smith were to ... Show more

This view is supported by Aquinas. According to Aquinas the soul operates independently of the body,
and only things that are divisible are open to decay. The Soul is not divisible, unlike the body and will
therefore decay and die whilst the soul lives on. This view of the Soul been separate to the body was
accepted by Descartes too. Descartes said that it was conceivable for us to survive without our bodies
because our identity comes from our soul and it s ability to think and reason. He rejected the idea that
we need our bodies to live an intellectually aware and active life. In my personal view both of these
theories have major flaws. John Hick is merely hypothesizing with notion that an exact replica of John
Smith will simply re appear in India. He uses it as a means to reach his end, through illogical
reasoning.
The Dualist view of life after death also has its flaws. The idea of the body having no characteristics
unless it has a soul is absurd. The appearance of the body is a characteristic which isn t determined but
the Soul. I do feel that the Materialist view is the stronger. Even though it does relay on slightly
flawed logic. Even though this view is very much like the Christian view there are some major
contradictions between the replica theory and part of Luke s gospel.

regarding the technical aspects of creating and appreciating a work of tragedy, he is somewhat lacking
in his descriptions of how tragedy is enjoyed by an audience. Aristotle speaks of this tragic pleasure in
two ways; as the pleasure of mimesis, and as the pleasure of catharsis. If we come to understand the
Aristotelian concept of pleasure as an activity as opposed to a process, and the distinction between

and of itself. He uses the examples of losing weight as opposed to seeing to show this difference.
Aristotle writes that when one is in the process of losing weight, there is a specific end to which the
process strives towards, this end is having lost weight. In the action of losing weight, the end is not
present. The end of having lost weight will only occur after the process of losing weight has been
completed. The same is not true of seeing. When we see something, the end is having seen it. This end
is present in the action of seeing. When we say that we see something, we can also say that we have
seen it. The end is in the action itself, and the action is its own end. In this way seeing is an activity
and not a process.
Aristotle writes that a process will have some type of duration between the time that it is begun and
the time that it is completed. When someone attempts to lose weight, there is a certain duration of time
between beginning the process of losing weight and the end of the process, having lost weight. By
contrast, an activity is complete at all times.

Spanish Conquest Of California Essay
In 1520s the Spanish began to explore California. They wanted to map the coastline of California and
find a safe harbor for Spain. It was not until 1776 that a safe harbor was claimed for the Spanish
empire. The beginning theory was the California was an island, but through Spanish expeditions that
theory was proven wrong. In the beginning of the explorations a group of explores landed on Bahia de
la Paz, which is near the tip of the Baja Peninsula. When the Spanish landed, the Indians killed all but
two of the explorers. Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo s mission was to find a northern route that would
connect the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. With his attempts to find this rout, he ended up being the first
Spanish explorer to sail the coast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once he became governor more and more settlers came to California. The purpose of these extra

pueblo created. Four years later the Los Angeles pueblo was created. More than half of the population
was African and the other settlers were Indians and Spanish. The settlers had jobs like mining,
farming, and trading. Their money, land, and tools came from Spain. In return they had to build new
houses and grow crops for food. The Indians were used as laborers for the

Love, Murder, and Jealousy in Shakespeare s Macbeth and...
How do Shakespeare and Browning present ideas about love, murder and jealousy in Macbeth, My
Last Duchess and The Laboratory?
This essay will look at ways William Shakespeare (1564 1616, English actor and playwright) and
Robert Browning (1812 1889, English poet and playwright) consider love, murder and jealousy in the
play Macbeth and the poems, My Last Duchess and The Laboratory. When comparing these themes it
is of interest to consider their historical context and setting. Macbeth was first performed in 1611 and
is considered to be one of Shakespeare s darkest and powerful tragedies. Browning s poem The
Laboratory was also based in the seventeenth century and My Last Duchess in the sixteenth century.
Love as depicted in Macbeth and My Last Duchess is not about a conventional sense of love where,
for example, boy meets girl but other forms of love. In Macbeth love is described between Macbeth
and his wife in terms of dearest love and dearest chuck . Macbeth s devotion and love for his country
finds expression in, the service and loyalty I owe . In My Last Duchess, however, love appears to be
concerned with the extent to which the Duke loves himself, I choose/never stoop . This infers that the
Duke views himself in a superior way and would not lower himself to intervene in small annoyances.
This is an indication that the Duke is also a selfish man lacking in humility, who puts his own needs
and desire for happiness above that of others, including those closest

Introduction
The subject of this case study is a male aged four years (48 months). The setting is a voluntary aided
faith nursery which follows a religious syllabus. It has children from a specific Islamic background.
Within the nursery each child is assigned a key worker, who works with the child on a one to one basis
and performs in partnership with parents or/carers to assist their child s learning and development.
There are about 17 children to 6 adults. Child A (as he will be known) has no special educational

There was a specific observation of mention when Child A was in the computer corner playing a water
themed counting game. When estimating the number of objects on the screen, he used his fingers to
count the sea animals, 1, 2,3,4,5, 6 animals and looked at me for confirmation asking, is it 6? . This
shows that Child A is developing within the usual ranges of development, Estimates how many objects
they can see and checks by counting them , (Development Matters in the EYFS, 2012, p.34).
Piaget believes children learn best by doing and that they must be additionally active in their own
understanding. He also believes that knowledge must be assembled and reassembled by the child.
Subsequently Child A, within the stages of schema, would experience a new notion of dealing with
numbers. The existing schema does not work as child A has no prior knowledge on counting sea
animals. Thus disequilibrium arises until Child A is able to assimilate and accommodate the
contemporary knowledge and attain equilibrium. Hence, Child A uses his fingers to count aloud and
signify each finger with a specific number. For future recommendation, I would have Child A

Evaluation Of The Clinical Leadership And Management Review
According to the Clinical Leadership Management Review, (2008) healthcare spending is currently
taking up 16.2 percent of our nation s economy. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services, cost is expected to rise to twenty percent by 2015. Nearly, seventy percent of medical
decisions are based on laboratory tests, yet the costs of lab tests account for only four percent of the
total in health care costs. Annual sales for clinical laboratory testing in the U.S. in 2001 were thirty
five billion, and are expected to grow at four percent annually (Johnson, 2008). Upon looking at
annual global growth rate, laboratory testing is projected to increase by 5.5 percent (Johnson, 2008).
As a result, laboratories as a business plays a significant role, on how health care dollars are spent.
Additionally, laboratories offer a tremendous service for a reasonable price by providing quality, state
of the art services and fair reimbursement that is essential. Plan for Investigation The complexity in
billing is especially costly for clinical laboratories that bill for high volume, and relatively low cost
procedures. It significantly increases billing and administrative costs, reducing profit (Johnson, 2008).
It is important in this kind of environment to manage denial of payment promptly and efficiently to
enhance revenue and reduce compliance risk. Decreasing reimbursements and increasing complexity

Environmental Pollution
Introduction: Our planet relies on vegetation as a source of oxygen and cutting it down takes away that
source. This creates an unstable balance where civilization needs to rely on something else for that
missing part of oxygen. To what extent should humans prevent deforestation in major forests
worldwide? Forests cover about 30% of our entire planet and scientists are predicting that within the
next 50 100 years, deforestation will cause all non protected forests to be cut down (National
Geographic). As stated by the NASA Earth Observatory author and editor Rachel Lindsey, In the
Amazon alone, scientists estimate that the trees contain more carbon than ten years of human
produced greenhouse gases (Lindsey). As people cut down trees on a daily basis, the carbon that is
held in the tree is released into the atmosphere, adding to the already present global warming problem.
As the trees are cleared, people tend to replace this previously forested area with pastures and fields to
grow crops on. This is not only bad for the environment, it additionally creates a hotter climate.
Meanwhile, Science News author and previous writer/editor for the Chicago Adler Planetarium Janet
Raloff shows readers that nitrous oxide has a large impact on the ozone of our planet, contributing to
global warming and climate change. The ozone absorbs most of the radiation coming from the sun to
the earth. As trees are cut down, it increases the rate of nitrous oxide released into the atmosphere

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Narrative Criticism
In biblical study, Narrative Criticism has been developed against the evolutionary models of historical
criticism, which has been mainly focused to reenact the position and thought of the original writer and
audience through certain scientific and analysis of biblical material . This discipline is the study of a
narrative text most likely similar to any narrative literature. It is sub discipline of interpretation
method under literary criticism, which emphases on the literary form or shape of the text in its final
form as pointer of what the texts meant. There is general agreement among the various disciplines of

B. weakness
One of the potential weaknesses for Narrative criticism is a little concern for authorial intention. It is
clear that, someone who engaged in narrative criticism approach and cannot emphasize the plot, the
character, and lose the historical background or the historical reference of the text. In addition, in
narrative criticism approach there is a high tendency to look scripture as any other literature and
fiction, because they used a methodology of the same kind.
In general, with careful managing of those negative sides mentioned in the above, narrative criticism
is a better and significant approach that does result in a renewed focus on the text, and this focus
maintains a deliberate and well built grasp on historical issues, it may have its

However, far fewer French visitors were coming than projected, and it soon became clear this

Staffing: In a service oriented business such as Disney with very exacting customer service standards,
proper staffing is crucial to an organization #65533;s success. In spite of the importance of having a
top notch workforce, many considerations crucial to developing that effective workforce were
overlooked at Euro Disney. Staffing shortages created a negative cycle in which extra workloads on
employees resulted in increased turnover, which in turn hurt Disney #65533;s ability to retain and
develop its employees. Poor union relations caused by reactions to Disney #65533;s exacting
requirements for dress and appearance, such as a ban on facial hair and colored stockings, as well as to
Disney #65533;s high standards of customer service, further hurt their ability to attract employees.
Seeking to address the shortages created by this high turnover, Disney management accelerated its
complex training program. This put more stress on new hires, and left them even less prepared to
provide the level of service expected of Disney employees. Communication barriers in the workplace
were created by language and cultural gaps between American management and European employees.
Also, planners failed to consider

An Example Of Small Business In The Walt Disney Company
People wonder all the time how companies started out and how they got so successful? An example of

fearlessness, and passion.
This skill is something everybody needs if success is wanted; that skill would be persistence.

  • 2. Similarities Between Catt And Susan B Anthony Woodrow Wilson, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Susan B. Anthony share a common purpose in their addresses advocating women s suffrage.Wilson s Address to the Senate on the Nineteenth Amendment expresses the opinion he holds about the lack of control over women being able to vote; he prioritizes the use of logos to create an argument consisting of present fact and his own belief of how the rest of the world will see them as a nation if they do not ratify the Nineteenth Amendment. Catt s The Crisis analyzes her present issue of the acknowledgement of women s suffrage. Catt explains that through the acknowledgement of women s suffrage, women have been given more freedom, yet not the same equality as men. Catt wants more than just exceptions to social rules, she wants people to understand that a woman is not only an imperative cog in the societal machine, but equality should never be a crisis again. Susan B. Anthony wastes no time getting to the point in On Women s Right to Vote; she instantly begins her speech with a strong denial of allegations thrown her way and moves right in to speak about the government basing a law off the sex of a person and how the government is not treated as a democracy. Through each of these addresses Wilson, Catt, and Anthony are divided by their point of view and united by their cause, yet only Carrie Chapman Catt s address holds the most effective reasoning. She is now a thriving eight year old cancer survivor. The researchers, doctors, nurses, and therapists, are the main reason I have an adorable cousin here today. From the moment I heard the magnitude of what my little cousin was battling, I set my goal of a career in medicine, and the Allied Health Academy at Williamstown High School is that right first step to achieving my goal. Kennedy happened to be the 35th and the youngest President to be elected in the history of the United States. After Kennedy took office in 1961, he authorized the Bay of Pigs invasion, which was led by the CIA and exiles from Cuba. Even with this, they were still unable to overthrow Fidel Castro. The failure and the tensions the Soviet Union had in 1961 about the Berlin Crisis, set the early events of the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. RMS means Royal Mail Steamship was a British passenger liner that Of the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, more than 1,500 died, making it one of the deadliest commercial peacetime maritime disasters in modern history. The largest ship afloat at the time it entered service, the RMS Titanic was the second of three Olympic class ocean liners operated by the White Star Line, and was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. The pendulum s point of contact is instrumented, with a readout of forces electronically recorded in millisecond detail [Figure 1]. A piece of modern high quality steel was tested along with the coupon from the hull steel. Both coupons were placed in a bath of alcohol at 1°C to simulate the conditions on the night of the Titanic disaster. When the coupon of the modern steel was tested, the pendulum swung down and halted with a thud; the test piece had bent into a V. However, when the coupon of the Titanic steel was tested, the pendulum struck the coupon with a sharp ping, barely slowed, and continued up on its swing; the sample, broken into two pieces, sailed across the room [1]. The Rivets: The wrought iron rivets that fastened the hull plates to the Titanic s main structure also failed because of brittle fracture from the high impact loading of the collision with the iceberg and the low temperature water on the night of the disaster. With the ship travelling at nearly 25 mph, the contact with the iceberg was probably a series of impacts that caused the rivets to fail either in shear or by elongation [2]. As the iceberg scraped along sections of the Titanic s hull, the rivets were sheared off, which opened up riveted seams. Also, because of the tremendous forces created on impact with the iceberg, the rivet heads in the areas of contact were simply popped off, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Can Officers Effectively Prosecute Domestic Violence... When prosecuting criminal domestic violence cases too many officers constructed their entire case only on statements made by the victim. However, victims of domestic violence are more likely than victims of other violent crime to recant or refuse to cooperate in prosecutorial efforts (Breitenbach, 2008, p. 1256). Officers must consider that victims of domestic violence may refuse to testify because of fear of retaliation, intimidation, financial dependence, emotional attachment, and/or because they reunited with the batterer. If the victim refused to testify during court, their statement against the abuser becomes hearsay evidence. Several recent cases have had a huge influence on how those statements and hearsay evidence may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, any out of court statements made by witnesses and/or victims to law enforcement must be excluded unless the defendant had prior opportunity to cross examine the unavailable witnesses (Byrom, 2005). The only non testimonial statements that would be utilized in court, without direct testimony from the witness and/or complainant, were the taped 911 phone calls reporting the incident. If the victim testified, their previous statements would be allowed as evidence without limitation because the witness was subjected to cross examination. However, if the victim refused to testify, any testimonials made to law enforcement were not allowed as evidence in the court proceedings. In light of these legal changes, officers needed to construct their domestic violence cases under the assumption that the victim would not be participating in the prosecution. The case commenced at the time the call was received by dispatch up until the case was presented to a judge or jury. Therefore, officers needed to complete the proper procedures to secure recordings of the calls made to the 911 dispatch center to report the domestic situation. In addition to having the subject, victim and/or witnesses complete written and/or video statements, the officer must diligently identify, collect, and photograph evidence at the crime scene (Ellison, 2002). This required officers to visit the victim several days later to photograph bruising, because some bruising ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Atheism is simply the rejection of the belief in the existence of deities whereas theism is the opposite. There have been indications of theism stretching back to very early Homo sapiens with evidence of rituals and superstitions. The dead were buried ceremoniously showing the belief in some kind of afterlife. Atheism is seemingly a lot more uncommon throughout history with very little evidence of our ancient ancestors ever lacking some kind of belief in a higher presence. I would write this essay with arguments for atheism but that would be counter productive as the entire point of theism is that it is suggesting the existence of a deity and therefore it is a theist s burden to provide evidence and/or proof of the deity s existence. Presented in this essay are four of some of the most commonly used arguments for theism (not including arguments that rely purely on faith) and rebuttals to each argument. Firstly I will introduce a very popular argument for theism is that there can not be a causeless cause; someone must have caused the universe to come into existence. Of course the natural response to this is to ask; who caused God to come into existence? This argument is obviously internally inconsistent. Next I will put forth an argument for theism known as the Argument from Design . This common argument suggests that complex things such as watches and televisions are created by intelligent people. Surely the intricacy of life spawning from simple DNA, as well as the other examples of complexity in the universe also imply the influence of an intelligence? A rebuttal to this argument would be that god is certainly complex, so who created him? If one says that he has always existed, then why can t one instead say that the universe (and life) have always existed? Besides, there are clear examples of lackluster design in nature. For example the human eye has a blind spot when it could have been designed like the squid s (that doesn t have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Internet companies are aware of this thus, they price their inventory competitively. Moreover, companies get bigger audience of their products online so they often put clearance products on sale and offer other deals to clear out inventory faster. • 18. The Importance Of Benevolent Sexism When I first stumbled upon benevolent sexism in the textbook I had to stick to the section for a little bit. I was very intrigued by the concept as I was completely unaware that it classified as sexism, let alone that it was actually harmful to the egalitarian movement. Benevolent sexism is mistaken with an appreciation and respect for women, which can make it hard to identify and then classify correctly. In the textbook, this concept is described as the following: a more subtle kind of sexism that argues for women s special niceness and purity (...) You may initially think that benevolent sexism cannot be harmful. However, it still emphasizes that women are different from men and that they are also weaker. (Matlin 58) This struck a chord with me particularly because I did initially think that it could not be harmful, and was oblivious to the consequences that its existence entailed. Discussion in class as well as textbook readings showed that this sexism was very much alive and running in our society, which prompted me to think, why is it that there aren t obvious efforts against benevolent sexism? My own experience answered this question; a great portion of women do not see this invisible sexism and endorse it unknowingly. This concept goes well with what we discussed in class known as gender complementarity , the idea that women serves as complements to men, we are here to assist them and complete them. This idea fetishes the woman and turns her into an object with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Notes On Machine Learning And The Development Of Computer... Chapter 2: INTRODUCTION TO MACHINE LEARNING 2.1 Definition Learning like intelligence, covers a wide range of processes that it is challenging to define accurately. Regarding machines, we might define, very broadly, that a machine learns whenever it changes its structure, program, or data (based on its inputs or in response to external information) in such a manner that its expected future performance improves [5]. Machine learning is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that equips computers with the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that can teach themselves to grow and change when exposed to new data. The process of machine learning is analogous to data mining. Both systems explore through data to look for patterns. However, machine learning uses that data to detect patterns in data and adjust program actions accordingly. Currently, machine learning is more advanced from pattern recognition to theory that computers can learn without being programmed to perform specific tasks. The iterative aspect of machine learning is important because as models are exposed to new data, they are able to independently adapt. They learn from previous computations to produce reliable, repeatable decisions and results. [6] Robot learning is a research field at the intersection of machine learning and robotics. It studies techniques allowing a robot to acquire unique skills or adapt to its environment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. A Comparison of Two Accounts of Life After Death Essay A Comparison of Two Accounts of Life After Death Materialism is the view that the body and mind are inseparable, and for there to be life after death then the body must be resurrected, this is much like the Christian view of life after death. John Hick was a materialist and he argued that, in certain circumstances, it would be possible that the dead could exist as themselves after death, if an exact replica were to appear. Hick uses thought experiments to show the person who dies in this World is the same person who is resurrected in the next. He uses examples of using a character called John Smith. If John smith were to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This view is supported by Aquinas. According to Aquinas the soul operates independently of the body, and only things that are divisible are open to decay. The Soul is not divisible, unlike the body and will therefore decay and die whilst the soul lives on. This view of the Soul been separate to the body was accepted by Descartes too. Descartes said that it was conceivable for us to survive without our bodies because our identity comes from our soul and it s ability to think and reason. He rejected the idea that we need our bodies to live an intellectually aware and active life. In my personal view both of these theories have major flaws. John Hick is merely hypothesizing with notion that an exact replica of John Smith will simply re appear in India. He uses it as a means to reach his end, through illogical reasoning. The Dualist view of life after death also has its flaws. The idea of the body having no characteristics unless it has a soul is absurd. The appearance of the body is a characteristic which isn t determined but the Soul. I do feel that the Materialist view is the stronger. Even though it does relay on slightly flawed logic. Even though this view is very much like the Christian view there are some major contradictions between the replica theory and part of Luke s gospel. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Aristotles concept of catharsis Mimesis, Catharsis, and Pleasure: An Investigation into Aristotle s Tragic Pleasure Bradley Elicker Temple University Abstract: Aristotle writes the Poetics as an investigation into representational art and, more specifically, as an investigation into the art form of tragedy. While Aristotle goes into great detail regarding the technical aspects of creating and appreciating a work of tragedy, he is somewhat lacking in his descriptions of how tragedy is enjoyed by an audience. Aristotle speaks of this tragic pleasure in two ways; as the pleasure of mimesis, and as the pleasure of catharsis. He writes that each process is for the sake of an end 3 while an activity will be an end in 2 3 Nicomachean Ethics 1173a 29 33 Metaphysics 1048b 19 2 and of itself. He uses the examples of losing weight as opposed to seeing to show this difference. Aristotle writes that when one is in the process of losing weight, there is a specific end to which the process strives towards, this end is having lost weight. In the action of losing weight, the end is not present. The end of having lost weight will only occur after the process of losing weight has been completed. The same is not true of seeing. When we see something, the end is having seen it. This end is present in the action of seeing. When we say that we see something, we can also say that we have seen it. The end is in the action itself, and the action is its own end. In this way seeing is an activity and not a process. Aristotle writes that a process will have some type of duration between the time that it is begun and the time that it is completed. When someone attempts to lose weight, there is a certain duration of time between beginning the process of losing weight and the end of the process, having lost weight. By contrast, an activity is complete at all times. Nicomachean

  • 26. Love, Murder, and Jealousy in Shakespeare s Macbeth and... How do Shakespeare and Browning present ideas about love, murder and jealousy in Macbeth, My Last Duchess and The Laboratory? This essay will look at ways William Shakespeare (1564 1616, English actor and playwright) and Robert Browning (1812 1889, English poet and playwright) consider love, murder and jealousy in the play Macbeth and the poems, My Last Duchess and The Laboratory. When comparing these themes it is of interest to consider their historical context and setting. Macbeth was first performed in 1611 and is considered to be one of Shakespeare s darkest and powerful tragedies. Browning s poem The Laboratory was also based in the seventeenth century and My Last Duchess in the sixteenth century. Love as depicted in Macbeth and My Last Duchess is not about a conventional sense of love where, for example, boy meets girl but other forms of love. In Macbeth love is described between Macbeth and his wife in terms of dearest love and dearest chuck . Macbeth s devotion and love for his country finds expression in, the service and loyalty I owe . In My Last Duchess, however, love appears to be concerned with the extent to which the Duke loves himself, I choose/never stoop . This infers that the Duke views himself in a superior way and would not lower himself to intervene in small annoyances. This is an indication that the Duke is also a selfish man lacking in humility, who puts his own needs and desire for happiness above that of others, including those closest ... This creates an unstable balance where civilization needs to rely on something else for that missing part of oxygen. To what extent should humans prevent deforestation in major forests worldwide? Forests cover about 30% of our entire planet and scientists are predicting that within the next 50 100 years, deforestation will cause all non protected forests to be cut down (National Geographic). As stated by the NASA Earth Observatory author and editor Rachel Lindsey, In the Amazon alone, scientists estimate that the trees contain more carbon than ten years of human produced greenhouse gases (Lindsey). As people cut down trees on a daily basis, the carbon that is held in the tree is released into the atmosphere, adding to the already present global warming problem. As the trees are cleared, people tend to replace this previously forested area with pastures and fields to grow crops on. This is not only bad for the environment, it additionally creates a hotter climate. Meanwhile, Science News author and previous writer/editor for the Chicago Adler Planetarium Janet Raloff shows readers that nitrous oxide has a large impact on the ozone of our planet, contributing to global warming and climate change.
