Transformational Leadership Theory As A Guide
Transformational Leadership Theory as a Guide. My leadership philosophy closely mirrors the
transformational approach to leadership. Like the transformational theory suggests, I believe that true
leadership inspires the team to rise above its individual components in order to reach a shared goal
(Huber, 2014). Some of the individual components are areas that I have personal strength in such as:
desire to learn and ability to get the job done (Rath Conchie, 2008). Additionally, some of the
components are the ability to influence and connect with others; strengths that I do not possess (Rath
Conchie, 2008). Recognition of my own personal strengths and weaknesses led me to a democratic
philosophy of leadership because I realized that one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

required to check that a temperature indicator is included when picking up vaccine for transport.
Involvement in a health care team as a nurse leader. I realize that my personal strengths may be
weaknesses of other members of my team. By employing a transformational approach, I can zero in
on my team s common values and use my achiever and discipline strengths to accomplish the tasks
along the way to achieving the group goals (Marquis Huston, 2015; Rath Conchie, 2008). I model my
desire to learn and engage in conversations with my colleagues regarding practice rationale on a daily
basis. By showing my desire to improve my knowledge base, my willingness to admit what I don t
know, and my eagerness to support team goals, I am acting as a nurse leader. Continued growth as a
nurse leader. Continuing to build upon my current strengths and recognizing how my team members
can facilitate my growth through their strengths will showcase my leadership philosophy. I plan to
maintain a reflective journal to explore ways in which my leadership is flourishing as well as ways in
which my leadership can be improved (Lacasse, 2013). The commitment to seeing my leadership as
dynamic will reinforce my philosophy that leadership must be flexible and adaptable to the group s
needs (Huber, 2014).

Joseph Stalin A Dictator Analysis
The man with a microphone in his hand, perspiration standing out on his forehead, passed his tongue
over his lips. He was fired up, there was no question about it, and he was getting solid rounds of
applause, but his dissenters were far from giving up. A soda can hit the concrete near his feet, spinning
where it lay in front of the speaker. He tapped it aside, never once pausing in his oratory.
Storm sat under the stone arch among the audience. A trickle of sweat ran under his shirt. He looked
down at the jeans and sneakers he wore. Most of those around him had on shorts and T shirts and flip
flops on their feet. Casual, comfortable clothing for warm campus days.
The hecklers in the audience seemed to be dressed like he was. There was something ... Show more

Another can struck the steps behind the speaker. Two of his supporters stood and peered worriedly
into the crowd. For the second time in the same day, Storm felt the threat of violence hanging heavy in
the air. He turned at the sound of a dog s bark to see the dark snout of a large German Shepherd
straining at its leash.
A whistle pierced the air as the police made their way rapidly through the crowd. Two thickset men
wearing jeans confronted the uniforms. Pushing and shoving, but they found themselves thrown hard
to the ground and handcuffed. Storm got up and made his way through the arch and down a stone wall
corridor, hoping to find a way into the building. A large policeman in full protective armor, a helmet
over his head and a baton in his hand, stepped from between the columns, blocking his way. On the
other side of the columns, Storm saw the black trucks of the riot squad. Beside them was a white bus
with metal grids over the windows. The sides bore the same company logo he had seen on the armored

Discoveries In The Double Helix By James Watson
Discoveries
The Double Helix, written by James Watson, begins with him being 17 years old already heading of to
study at college. He was currently studying at University of Chicago in his 3rd year. He was studying
Zoology and was hoping for a PHD. As a scientist, Watson questioned the essence of life and mostly
how the information of life was copied. Therefore he wanted to be a geneticist. He observed Linus
pauling and his work and applied to caltech but was unfortunately declined. Therefore in Indiana he
went after DNA and its meaning and form. Over this process he worked with many people and came
to many discoveries that help them in their journeys.
A helix
The discovery of the Alpha helix came up when, James Watson was one day alerted that Linus Pauling
had partially solved the structure of proteins. Following up on this James found out that, in on of
Pauling s talks he revealed the alpha helix model. This was a large event in the race for DNA because
Linus was the first person to propose something solidly correct about DNA structure. This new event
however, did not provide a lot of progress for James s work because of at the time how he could not
tell if this suggestion was correct or not. Later on this information did help them because they took on
the helical shape with the addition of x ray evidence.
Calculations of Cochran/crick
The Calculations of Cochran and crick came about because of a letter containing information on a
theory for X ray diffraction. This

Bikini Atoll Scandal
I think the United States owes money to the people of Bikini Atoll as an apology for testing nuclear

took place at the bikini atoll, in 1946 the United States took over the Bikini Atoll and tested nuclear
weapons there from 1946 and 1958.
One reason i think the united states owes money to the people of the bikini atoll as an apology is
because the united states made the all the people that lived there evacuate the island so they could test
their nuclear weaponry. www.theguardian.com states On a quiet Sunday after church, he assembled

Icarus And Daedalus Research Paper
Icarus and Daedalus were a father son duo who were forced to flee the island of Crete when Daedalus
made King Minos mad. Daedalus is an inventor who fashions them wings to fly off of the island out
of wax and feathers. He knows that if they use the wings too close to the water they will get wet and
not work, and if they fly too close to the sun the wax will melt. Icarus forgets the advice his dad gave
him and ends up flying too close to the sun. The wax melts, the wings fail, and he plummets into the
ocean. Athens is forced to send people to the island of Crete every few years because there is lasting

Oedipus, being afraid that he would kill his parents who raised him, flees Corinth. On his journey he

The Five Characteristics Of A Good President
Presidents are very important to the country, but the 3 most important requirement to become a
president of the United States include, being the age of 35, a natural born citizen and a resident within
the United States for 14 years. When looking at the American history today and trying to figure out the
best one, it is important to look at individual traits that make a good president. For example, some
presidents were loved by the public but barely made any accomplishment in the office while on the
other hand some presidents made massive accomplishments for the economy and the country but were
overlooked with disregard. The five important traits for a good president are Intelligence/ wisdom,
honesty, leadership quality, respecting and hard working.
Intelligence also known as wisdom means having the quality of experience, knowledge, and good
judgment to make great decisions. Intelligence and wisdom are important due to various reasons.
Firstly, a president must know every criteria and should be very knowledgeable regarding his job.
Also, presidents are people who make decisions and judge for the ... Show more content on

Another important trait is honesty as it is very important for the country to have a trustworthy leader
who doesn t cheat on his people; every president in the history of America has made a false and a fake
promise to his people before being elected as the president to win the heart of the people and later not
complete the promise that he had made. The president should not lie to his people; he should also be
honest to other countries for alliances and unions and without the alliance the country might suffer and
not be well known. For example, if the president of the United States lies to the Chinese government,
there is a high chance for the Chinese government to stop exporting their products which a lot of the
U.S. citizens rely on. Thus, honesty or being honest is an important trait to be in a

Scientists have spent decades figuring out what is causing global warming. They have looked at the
natural cycles and events that are known to influence climate. But the amount and pattern of warming
that is been measured can t be explained by these factors alone. The only way to explain the pattern is
to include the effect of greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted by humans. One of the first things scientists
learned is that there are several greenhouse gases responsible for warming, and humans emit them in a
variety of ways. Most come from the combustion of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity
production. The gas responsible for the most warming is carbon dioxide, also called CO2. Other
contributors include methane released from landfills and agriculture (especially from the digestive
systems of grazing animals), nitrous oxide from fertilizers, gases used for refrigeration and industrial
processes, and the loss of forests that would otherwise store CO2. Desertification could be described
as the spread of a desert environment into arid or semiarid regions, caused by climatic changes, human
influence, or both. (Cline 2007) Climatic factors include periods of temporary but severe drought and
long term climatic changes toward dryness. Human factors include artificial climatic alteration, as
through the removal of vegetation (which can lead to unnaturally high erosion), excessive

Essay On Baroque And Renaissance
Unit 4 Written Assignment
Revival and Rebirth in Europe: The Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo
Introduction
The three stylistic periods, following the original classical era, the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo
saw many changes in art. This was influenced by many factors, such as scientific development,
revolution in the case of the Rococo as well as one of the key factors that the church was no longer
such a key patron of the arts.
These factors would have had a profound influence on have art developed during these three periods
preceding the classical era of art. This paper will discuss the relationship between growing scientific
knowledge and art. Scientific developments at the time had a profound influence on how art itself
developed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there was certainly an application of realism involved, certainly in easel art. For example,
Dutch realist painting. However, it certainly used knowledge acquired through scientific research from
previous eras.
The realist approach continued to flourish in much later eras until the 1700s, even though art didn t
benefit from such scientific developments. Previous knowledge was essential right up until the 1700s
(Encyclopedia of Art History, n.d.).
Conclusion
The relationship between art and science become fundamental in the renaissance era. This relationship
became mutually beneficial, not only did science help create techniques such as linear perspective or
knowledge of the human anatomy, but science benefited with knowledge. This is due to artists being
heavily involved in such research to perfect art, hence the term scientific realism.
Art has been a motivation, driven by the desire to make art increasingly more realistic. There are three
key developments in science which have aided this realism. Perspective, Geometry and the research

Table 2: Summary of characteristics Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA)
Characteristic Data Comments
Classification PSA is a glycoprotein produced by the prostate epithelial cells Cancer may elevate
levels both from increased production and because tissue barriers between the gland lumen and
vascular bed are disrupted.
PSA Levels PSA has a half life of 2.2 days and elevated levels vary in recovery depending on the
cause of the elevation PSA elevation may precede clinical cancer by 5 10 years.
Specificity PSA is organ specific, not cancer specific. Using 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal the
specificity is 91% and 85% for cut off of 3.0 ng/ml Elevated levels also found in BPH and
prostatitis/UTIs, post prostate biopsy and in acute urinary retention (do not test for 2 4 weeks).
Negligible level increases due to DRE.
Sensitivity Most screening studies use 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal levels, but a review of the
literature in 2006 showed the estimated sensitivity using 4.0 was only 21% for detecting cancer and
51% for detecting high grade (Gleason 8). In 2009, estimates of 4.3 to 73% sensitivity were given
(www.parliament.nz/resource0000166364). Using 3.0 cut off increased sensitivities to 32 and 68%.
(Arch Ital Androl 1006 78 (4) 125 9) Cancer may be present with normal PSA levels, and a PSA level
may not correlate with the acuity of the prostate cancer. A later study concluded that no single cut off

Reincarnation Is A Belief Of The Soul After Death
Reincarnation is a belief that has existed since ancient times. Not everybody believes in the theory, but
it is also the basis of some religions. Reincarnation is the rebirth of the soul after death, and it is
believed to happen to everyone. Some people even have memories of their past lives unlike others.
Reincarnation is an intriguing belief that could explain what happens to people after death.
I.A.
The one person who started the theory of reincarnation is unknown, but there are a few religions
believed to have started the theory in ancient times. Many Americans like to think of reincarnation as
a fantasy of supernatural Buddhists, Hindus, and aboriginal tribes, but there are many more religions
whose teachings say to believe. First, the subject of reincarnation comes up in the traditions of India.
Second, it is one of the core beliefs of hinduism Hindus have always believed in the theory (
Reincarnation ). Next, many people claim ancient Egyptians taught reincarnation. It is also believed to
be in ancient Greek mythology ( Reincarnation Mark ). Another believed culture to have studied
reincarnation in the early ages was the Greek Pre socratics. Finally, the religion, Jainism, mentions
reincarnation very early in their culture ( Reincarnation ).
I.B.
Many people know of reincarnation, but are not informed on the whole topic. First, reincarnation is
simply dying, and then living again. It is a religious/ philosophical concept that the soul and spirit

It is the beginning of 1607, and I am about to start my first voyage after getting the job of attempting

hopes for my commitments, and I am certainly not going to give up. I am acquiring high hopes after a

Umbrella Policy
What is an Umbrella policy?
An umbrella policy is an additional liability insurance coverage above and beyond the limits of the
insured s regular insurance for home, auto or watercraft. It is used to ensure an extra layer of security
for people at risk of being sued for damages done to others properties or physical injuries caused to
others as a result of an accident. The umbrella nomenclature is used as in referring to the broader
coverage provided by the policy.
Features:
These policies generally provide broader coverage on risk factors over one or more primary policies.
Hence, these policies may have defined the covered risk factors on quite broader terms than the
definitions as present in the primary policies. Sometimes, they skip ... Show more content on

Significant property damage: If a personal or business vehicle causes significant damage to another
vehicle and/or property through an accident as a result of the policy owner s fault, it may exhaust the
standard auto insurance liability limit. There comes the scope of personal or commercial umbrella
policies for automobile insurance.
2. Liability of serious physical injury: The policy owner s limit of standard homeowners insurance
liability may not be enough to cover costs for medical treatment and other issues related to a guest
falling prey to an accident inside his home. This needs a personal umbrella policy for the homeowner,
or a commercial umbrella policy if the house is a business property.
3. Libel or slander. Expensive lawsuits may result from something said or written by the policy owner
about another person. This calls for a personal umbrella policy.
4. Malicious prosecution. The policy owner may be subjected to a lawsuit of malicious or wrongful
intents and all the unpredicted expenses for legal proceedings have to be paid by him as long as the
charges are not shaken off. This again calls for a personal umbrella policy.
5. Landlord liability. Again, a tenant could file an expensive lawsuit over an injury suffered while
renting the policy owner s property. This also needs a personal umbrella policy for the

Full Metal Jacket Movie Analysis
Before watching the movie Full Metal Jacket, I thought it would be more of a comedic type of war
movie. This movie portrayed the sad part of war, where you lose your closes friends, and shows how
gruesome and cold war could be. In today s society, video games only portray the positive stigma of
war instead of showing the negatives and dark part of it.
My favorite scene of the movie was from the opening of the film to the first meeting between the U.S
Marine Corps recruits and the senior drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The reason I enjoyed
the beginning scene is because it had a lot of dark comedy where he was hazing the recruits. The first

Mimicking the Natural Environment Essay
Mimicking the Natural Environment
In Clifford Geertz s article, Two Types of Ecosystems, he suggests that the uneven distribution of the
Indonesian population is in direct correlation with the different methods of agriculture used by those
in the densely populated area and those in the less populated area. Geertz explores the distinct
characteristics of two methods of cultivation in Indonesia, swidden and sawah agriculture. Swidden
agriculture, as described by Geertz, is when the forest is burned and cleared so new crops can be
sowed. The nutrients from the burned plants are used as a natural fertilizer to insure growth of its
variety of crops. Swidden agriculture works in a cycle, once the nutrients in the soil are depleted, the

The rainforest supplies the world with the most diverse plant and animal life, however, it is not
premium agricultural land. The high canopy allows little light to filter to the earth bellow and the
frequent rains rinse away the topsoil, both these characteristics allow for few nutrients to accumulate
in the soil. The Guarani people have adopted agroforestry as their form of subsistence. Agroforestry is
simple the incorporation of fishing, hunting, gathering and agriculture (Reed: 1997). The use of this
form of production, has allowed the Guarani people to live off of the land utilizing its resources.
Like the Indonesians, the Guarani also use swidden agricultural methods to cultivate the surrounding
forest. The Guarani pick a potential garden plot and as a communal effort, each family s garden is
cleared of vegetation and then burned to eliminate remaining vegetation. This slash and burn method
provides the Guarani people with nutrient rich soil and ample sunlight. The garden plot is then planted
with a variety of crops, often four or five different plant species in one square meter. Once the crops
have been harvested, the plot is used several more times before it is abandoned. When a plot is
abandoned, the surrounding forest takes back the earth, and the plot is incorporated back into the
forest. After, a Guarani family abandons its garden plot, they most find another place suitable for
cultivation. They are careful as to not choose a plot that was near to

The True Purpose of Compulsory Education in American Schools

Abstract
John Gatto, a school teacher in the Manhattan area, taught for thirty years at a variety of different
schools. During these years, he realized that children were frequently bored with classroom activities
as a result of how they were being taught. Students were not being challenged and often already knew
the concepts behind the materials taught. Jean Anyon further supports and agrees with Gatto s
statements about the public school system. In her article, she specifies that schools in wealthy ... Show

In other words, compulsory education is designed to keep the majority of the population in the lower
class by making children manageable. Students are separated out according to intellectual abilities,
social class, and even by the Darwinian theory of the favorite race. The children are then further sorted
based on subject, grades, ranking on tests, or by other means, allowing schools to control who will
advance or stay behind. Compulsory education is intended to prevent children from ever truly growing
up or seeking their potential in life. The outcome of this is that they are not advancing to become
complete adults in our society. As Dr. Inglis said if children could be cloistered with other children,
stripped of responsibility and independence, encouraged to develop only the trivializing emotions of
greed, envy, jealousy, and fear, they would grow older but never truly grow up. (Inglis, A., 1918)
The first of the six purposes, the adjustive or adaptive function, is used to establish fixed habits of
reaction to authority. Gatto feels this is directly connected to why children are frequently bored in
school. He claims that this prevents critical thinking altogether and does away with the idea that useful
and interesting subjects should be taught because as he states, you can t test for reflexive obedience
until you know whether you can make kids learn, and

The City And Parts Of The Soul
Another premise is how justice is a craft with a particular function. All conventional items that human
beings use have a purpose otherwise its useless. Even the most ridiculous products sold on
infomercials are designed for a specific purpose. Although products being sold on infomercials are
ridiculous for being invented with a purpose in mind, but do not function well and generally make the
user of the product look foolish. Like conventional items justice has a function. However it is
important that a thing s function is the work that it alone can do, or can do better than anyone else (I.
353a). Basically, Plato is assuming that we, human beings are dependent on each other and working
together will create a more sustainable society for all. It makes sense for every individual to specialize
in a task and can trade goods or services with one another. Plato further applies this concept to his
analogy of the city and parts of the soul.
In the creation of a city, and for the soul to be justice it has a particular hierarchical formation. For

Persuasive Essay About Texting And Driving
Texting while driving puts many driver s lives in danger daily. Many people feel that staying
connected to the outside world and answering a quick message is more important than focusing on the
road ahead or saving lives by paying attention. It can harm others on the road who are doing nothing
other than trying to make it to their destination safely, which is nothing you should ever be punished
for. If people would open their eyes (and keep them on the road) to the dangers of texting while
driving, car accidents take place every year would decline rapidly and the roads would be much safer
to drive on. Distracted drivers need to know the position they put others in as well as themselves but

The person texting believes that since they are not under the influence, they are more in control of
their driving but that is completely wrong because in turn they actually pay less attention to
where/how they are driving. Just for one second can you imagine that your sister, or brother, or
mother, or father tells you, I will be right back, I am just going to run to the store. but they never come
back. Next imagine receiving a phone call, or a knock at the door and that horrifying news is someone
in your family was hurt or even killed as a result of texting while driving. I don t think people truly
understand the gut wrenching pain and feeling that comes along with this type of life altering news.
Then of course you have people thinking that banning texting while driving is not fair because it is
violating their freedom of speech, but do you think it s fair that someone else s life has to be taken or
severely changed due to a stupid action? There is no justifiable explanation that you could use when

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Spinner Bags
Luggage with spinner or rolling wheels are the most popular options
It s becoming almost impossible to find luggage without wheels, even on the smallest bags. Wheeled
luggage is extremely convenient because it enables anyone to easily transport a heavy bag through a
parking lot and the airport, and on to the gate or baggage check area without strain.

complaints we saw about the Victorinox Avolve 22 inch bag is that it would not fit in some overhead

Dentist Observation
The second year student I observed was very organized and passionate while helping her patient.
Since this was the last of four visits she had with her patient, she was sweet enough to purchase baby
socks for him because his wife was expecting in a few weeks. I loved how personal she made his
experience at the clinic. He said the only reason he was visiting a dentist for the first time in over
fifteen years was to set a good example for his soon to be son. From what I could tell, the student was
ergonomically correct for the majority of the appointment. Her body positions were different than
when I observed another student during my first observation.
I. Preparation: I did not come in early to watch the set up of the unit for this appointment because I
arrived an hour early in my last observation, and I feel pretty comfortable setting up and wiping down
the unit. The student reviewed everything in the patient s chart even though this was her fourth
appointment with him. The treatment area, the maxillary left quadrant, needed local anesthetic before
progressing forward with the procedure. She got a short needle ready for an injection to check off on

Joseph Stalin s Use Of Sexism In Russia
Crude, primitive, vulgar ; muddle instead of music ; a cacophonous and pornographic insult to the
Soviet people . Pravda, the Soviet government newspaper, made these comments after Joseph Stalin
attended a 1936 performance of Dmitri Shostakovich s opera. His second and final opera, Lady
Macbeth of Mtsensk, got it him into all sorts of trouble because it denounced sexism in Russia. After
this intense criticism from the government and threats of arrest, Shostakovich was forced to withdraw
the premiere of his equally controversial Fourth Symphony. In order to please the government, he
quickly put together a more traditional, triumphant Fifth Symphony (1937); he even referred to it as a
Soviet artist s reply to just criticism.

Why Use An Ergonomic Keyboard
Why Use an Ergonomic Keyboard
The word ergonomic is probably a word you have heard severally from various quarters and the
technology world is perhaps the main center of focus as far as this is concerned. Looking at computers
which are our main concern, you will find that the aspect of an ergonomic keyboard has been
incorporated too.
Essentially, an ergonomic keyboard is supposed to make you comfortable as you work as it draws
away muscle strain and other repetitive strain injuries (RSI). In most cases, you will find that this
variety of keyboards are V shaped and this is meant to enable both hands to type at an angle, which is
assumed to be the most natural way to do so for every person.
As usual, most of the times, when working on or with your keyboard, speed, comfort and efficiency
are of the essence. It is said that using one of these will help you work efficiently and faster over a
long period of time since your hands and wrists will be much more comfortable and that injuries such
as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome will be prevented in the long run. ... Show more content on

Other varieties include the contoured keyboard and handheld keyboard. But what really do you need
to consider as you choose what ergonomic keyboard is best for you, given the varieties available? I
would say design features. This is what helps you determine what is best for you and comfortable as

The Effect Of Pef On Biological Cells
In general, the primary effect of PEF on biological cells is the changes in the structure and the
breakdown of cell membranes, which is mainly responsible for mass transfer, and several other
metabolic activities in the cell (Ade Omowaye, Angersbach, Taiwo, Knorr, 2001). The cell membrane
is considered as a capacitor filled with dielectric material of low electrical conductance, and
accumulation of charges with opposite polarity in both sides of membrane form a membrane potential.
However, when the overall potential exceeds 1V, the elctro compressive force cause dielectric rupture
of membrane leads to formation of pores/micro holes in the membrane (Schoenbach, Peterkin, Alden,
Beebe, 1997). Changes in the cell membrane can lead to form reversible or irreversible pores in the
cell membrane and ultimate loss of cell viability. On the other hand, voltage sensitive protein channels
would be opened when PEF applied and subject to much larger currents which generally have during
cell metabolic activities. Consequently, protein channels could be irreversibly denatured (Castro,
Barbosa Canovas, Swanson, 1993). Barsotti and Cheftel. (1999) have stated that pore inversion
generally occurs under an applied electric field with the expansion of hydrophobic pore.
As Weaver and Chizmadzhev. (1996) stated, at low strength electric fields ( 200 V cm−1), and short
pulse duration (10−5 10−6 s), the electrical breakdown could be reversed, and repair the damages after

The Challenges Of The Construction Industry

Some of the challenges the construction industry faces are the lack of skills and needing to ensure that
there are available resources. The skills shortage in construction ranges from a shortage of bricklayers
to a shortage of quantity surveyor.
This shortage isn t just in the numbers available but also a shortage of those are skilled in their field,
meaning that most of the workers lack experiences. This will reduce the speed in which the industry
grows which then may affect the contribution that the industry has on the UK economy.
The resources available to the industry are depleting, which means that alternative methods of
construction need to be considered. One of the resources that the industry is exhausting in river ...

The report will include the different regulations that intermediate floors must meet, when compared to
an intermediate floor in a non domestic setting.
REVIEW
MARKET SECTOR AND APPLICATION
Sound transmission would be a driver for the need to use acoustic insulation on intermediate floors.
There are two types of sound, two sources. Airborne sound and Impact sound. Airborne sound is
vibrations generated from a source, like speech and loudspeakers, which is then transmitted through
the air. These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them,
which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the sound.
The way to reduce these vibrations is to increase the mass of the floor. Therefore, concrete has a better
sound resistance than timber.
Whereas impact sounds are sounds that are caused by something coming into contact with the floor.
Such as footsteps. The vibrations caused by impact sound can also cause some airborne sounds in
objects attached to or resting on the floor.
Sound can transmit through a floor in two way, directly or indirectly. Direct transmission is when the
floor transmits the sound from one side to another. Indirect transmission is when the sound uses other
elements attached to the floor. Concrete is generally good at limiting both direct and indirect noise.
Therefore,

Data Analysis For The South Bronx
Data Analysis
The collected data will be analyzed using thematic data analysis. The data analysis process will be to
organize, code, categorize, and interpret. Each interview transcript, observation field note, and police
or school record will be uploaded into Atlas.ti in order to store and manage the data, and later will be
used to code and categorize. Organizing and memoing the data are significant steps because they
encompass reading through, sorting, familiarizing with the material, making initial codes, and, more
generally, comprehending the collected data in order to create a detailed description of the case
(Creswell 2013, p. 101). The description will be thorough, in depth, and will contextualize the case in
the unique setting of the South Bronx, thereby serving as a validation strategy (Alley 2016). The
description serves to depict the complexity of the case itself and allows the data to be analyzed
sequentially based on the actual progression of the case. The next step is to identify emerging patterns,
themes, similarities, and differences using categorical aggregation (Creswell, 2013). The themes and
patterns will be directly interpreted to develop naturalistic generalizations of what was learned
(Creswell 2013, p. 190). Direct interpretation is a unique method for the case study approach because
it focuses on the information made explicit through the research and does not generalize beyond the
case (p. 101). Ultimately, the objective is to distill

The Dialogue On The Two Great World Systems
Galileo s book The Dialogue on the Two Great World Systems is a 1632 book written by Galileo in
Italian in which he compares the Copernican system to the Ptolemaic system. In this book, Galileo
baldly (some said at the time recklessly) advocated the heliocentric / Copernican world view,
contrasting it to the prevailing geocentric / Ptolomeic model. In order to obtain permission to publish,
Galileo made a promise to religious authorities (including his supporter Pope Urban VIII) he would
present heliocentrism as a hypothetical. The reason Galileo made the promise is because his views
contradict passages of the Bible which refer to the earth as stationary and the sun orbiting. After the
publication of the book, the Roman Inquisition found

reinforces the overall meaning of the poem by mimicking the narrator s pleasant experience eating the
fruit. Kinnell transports the reader to late September as he expresses the narrator s attraction to the fat,
overripe, icy, black blackberries. Kinnell s use of cacophony is evident throughout the entire poem as
he stresses the K sound to emphasize the tart, exploding characteristics of the berries. The narrator

The Key Role Of Finance
The key role of finance in any business is to manage money; whether it be raising capital through
share capital and bank loans, raising credit (short term capital), or handling the costs of the business.
Without finance, a business would not function, as quoted by (Griffin, 2015); Money is the lifeblood
of a business and finance is the nerve center .
Key activities of the finance department:
Firstly, one of the key activities of the finance department is to maintain a check on the
costs/outgoings of the business. This is important because if the business spends too much, it may
have to dip into its capital money invested into the business to start it in the first place or it may have
to take out bank loans, in order to finance the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is very important because a business needs to know exactly where and when all of its money has
been spent at any given time in order to be able to reduce the costs for the future. For example, for the
year ending 2014 Arcadia Group generated £316.8 million revenue and finished up with £143.1
million pre tax profit. (Limited, 2014) The decisions made by the accountants in the finance
department leading up to and after the publication of these figures is essential to the financial success
of the Arcadia Group (Topshop, Top man, Wallis, etc). Without constant reviews and informed
judgements and decisions (Weetman, 2006) by the accountants in finance, the Arcadia Group would
start to make a loss and possibly, eventually go bankrupt. By evaluating the figures and reaching
conclusions on them, the Arcadia Group will be better able to maximize the profits for the company.
Key tools and ideas that are critical to finance:
One of the key ideas behind the finance function is the question; Is the business making a profit? This
is because without making a profit, a business would not continue to exist. For example, in 2013 Ford
made $8.6 billion in pre tax profits, but in 2014 Ford made $6.3 billion, so there was a drop of $2.3
billion (Ford,

Saying that, some assumption must be taken. The design is supposed to meet the demand of whole
year with low variation of efficacy. Waste water treatment plants consists on a series of processes and
units to produce a specific effluent of known composition and flow rate. These treatments are essential
to deal with domestic, industrial and agricultural contaminations and pollutants mainly considering
solids of organic nature. The main focus on this design will be organic compounds in the domestic
waste water BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solids). Based on the
Royal Commission for UK and Ireland the concentrations of effluents to be disposed on receiving
water are 20mg/L for BOD5 and 30mg/L for TSS as theses parameters apparently would not cause any
harm and will not be favourable for other process such as eutrophication. Considering that
Severodvinsk is situated close to the Dvina River and White Sea these concentrations does not need to
be highly restricted once that there is plenty of water available for further dilutions. Is important to
have in mind that low parameters involves high investments in processes and equipments. Before start
designing the processes itself is essential to understand the flows and concentrations of BOD5 and
TSS that are running into the units. Some

Juvenile Criminal Justice System. The study was to determine the parents place in the judicial system,
which appears to make it more arduous for parents, attempting to deal with the difficult task of

Moreover, it is with the utmost importance, that the courts strategize, on how to empower and
motivate parent s participation and involvement. The most obvious or realistic approach, would be to
utilize studies with concrete outcomes and conclusion, or expound on, or develop a study or focus
group identifying the parents needs, parenting style, barriers, and other challenges that makes parental
involvement difficult. Thus, it would allow the implementation of practical and viable solutions,
specifically changing the systemic problems, empowering parents, and forging a collaborative
relationship between the juvenile justice system, the community, and parents. Some things, should to
be immediately done, such as treating parents with empathy and respect, understanding that they have
rights and should be informed of those rights. Some of the apparent rights of the parents are fair
treatment with dignity and respect, the rights to know what the courts expects of them, and informed
of all scheduled court dates and appointments, which could be inserted in a pamphlet. The overall
benefit would be to work together in a collaborative effort to help reduce the recidivism rate among
youth and lessen the inconvenient burden of the parents, community and juvenile justice system.

The Importance Of Speech Anxiety
Stage freight and speaking in front of large groups of people is on top of every human fear. Face to
face public speaking puts hefty demands on speakers and listeners. The mixture of personality, body
and voices as well as chemistry makes speech a form of communication with exciting energy.
Irrespective of the attention given, it will create a significant and meaningful message. Without an
effective presentation the speech will unlikely create desire effects. In the article Don t be Shy (Aviv,
2016) it states how public speaking affects students to the point they will drop the class as long as they
don t have to speak in front of it or even sitting in class and having to raise your hand to ask a question
in front of the class stops many students due to fear of embarrassment. We all struggle with
communication anxiety, and uneasiness with unfamiliar situations. It also describes how improving
certain aspects in presentations will allow enough experience and confidence to have the ability to
successfully speak publicly, because we all know that speaking well if often crucial to getting a job.
The article has some good points, teaching the students first hand to overcome stage freight. One
professor helped her students with communication anxiety urging them to make index cards with
opening lines for starting conversations (Aviv, 2016). Universities are all aware of the anxiety that
goes into communication with others. Penn State created a Speech Anxiety course to

Change In Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point

Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point is radical because he talks about how the environment can
change people behavior. The environment could have caused people to change for better or worst. For
example: When people were placed in an environment of filth they are more violent and hectic
causing the crime rate to increase. When you come from a bad neighborhood you are statistically more
likely to be dangerous and belligerent. If you were to place people into a different environment, you
can expect change (not saying it always work). Throughout the story Malcolm gives many examples
of change. He starts off by talking about four young men who were on a New York train. ... Show

The change came from simply fixing the trains, not from wanting to change but from cleaning up the
environment. Showing that they are more than what they see. Clean makes you feel better about
yourself as for dirty makes you feel scum like. So why not act how you feel? It is events like what I
stated above that helped the people to see that change can be just as simple as cleaning the train. Being
in an environment filled with filth, stench, and nothingness in the air, can lead you to doing bad things.
In the story four men were acting like they had something and when approached a man were then shot.
If you dig deeper, you truly find out the four young men didn t have an easy life. They came from a
horrible place. Somewhere less fortunate than they needed to be. That key setting caused them to react
and see things more angrily and act out as such.
Malcolm Gladwell writes:
The encounter between Bernie Goetz and those four youths on the subway: Allen, Ramseur, Cabey,
and Canty. At least two of them, according to some reports, appear to have been on drugs at the time
of the incident. They all came from the Claremont Village housing project in one of the worst parts of

  • 2. Transformational Leadership Theory As A Guide Transformational Leadership Theory as a Guide. My leadership philosophy closely mirrors the transformational approach to leadership. Like the transformational theory suggests, I believe that true leadership inspires the team to rise above its individual components in order to reach a shared goal (Huber, 2014). Some of the individual components are areas that I have personal strength in such as: desire to learn and ability to get the job done (Rath Conchie, 2008). Additionally, some of the components are the ability to influence and connect with others; strengths that I do not possess (Rath Conchie, 2008). Recognition of my own personal strengths and weaknesses led me to a democratic philosophy of leadership because I realized that one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I immediately discussed it with my coworkers, alerted management, and suggested that nurses be required to check that a temperature indicator is included when picking up vaccine for transport. Involvement in a health care team as a nurse leader. I realize that my personal strengths may be weaknesses of other members of my team. By employing a transformational approach, I can zero in on my team s common values and use my achiever and discipline strengths to accomplish the tasks along the way to achieving the group goals (Marquis Huston, 2015; Rath Conchie, 2008). I model my desire to learn and engage in conversations with my colleagues regarding practice rationale on a daily basis. By showing my desire to improve my knowledge base, my willingness to admit what I don t know, and my eagerness to support team goals, I am acting as a nurse leader. Continued growth as a nurse leader. Continuing to build upon my current strengths and recognizing how my team members can facilitate my growth through their strengths will showcase my leadership philosophy. I plan to maintain a reflective journal to explore ways in which my leadership is flourishing as well as ways in which my leadership can be improved (Lacasse, 2013). The commitment to seeing my leadership as dynamic will reinforce my philosophy that leadership must be flexible and adaptable to the group s needs (Huber, 2014). • 3. Joseph Stalin A Dictator Analysis The man with a microphone in his hand, perspiration standing out on his forehead, passed his tongue over his lips. He was fired up, there was no question about it, and he was getting solid rounds of applause, but his dissenters were far from giving up. A soda can hit the concrete near his feet, spinning where it lay in front of the speaker. He tapped it aside, never once pausing in his oratory. Storm sat under the stone arch among the audience. A trickle of sweat ran under his shirt. He looked down at the jeans and sneakers he wore. Most of those around him had on shorts and T shirts and flip flops on their feet. Casual, comfortable clothing for warm campus days. The hecklers in the audience seemed to be dressed like he was. There was something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An excellent point you raise. Knowing your history is vital to understand what is happening today. Stalin s bureaucracy was a betrayal of the workers revolution. Stalin was a nationalist and a dictator Another can struck the steps behind the speaker. Two of his supporters stood and peered worriedly into the crowd. For the second time in the same day, Storm felt the threat of violence hanging heavy in the air. He turned at the sound of a dog s bark to see the dark snout of a large German Shepherd straining at its leash. A whistle pierced the air as the police made their way rapidly through the crowd. Two thickset men wearing jeans confronted the uniforms. Pushing and shoving, but they found themselves thrown hard to the ground and handcuffed. Storm got up and made his way through the arch and down a stone wall corridor, hoping to find a way into the building. A large policeman in full protective armor, a helmet over his head and a baton in his hand, stepped from between the columns, blocking his way. On the other side of the columns, Storm saw the black trucks of the riot squad. Beside them was a white bus with metal grids over the windows. • 4. Discoveries In The Double Helix By James Watson Discoveries The Double Helix, written by James Watson, begins with him being 17 years old already heading of to study at college. He was currently studying at University of Chicago in his 3rd year. He was studying Zoology and was hoping for a PHD. As a scientist, Watson questioned the essence of life and mostly how the information of life was copied. Therefore he wanted to be a geneticist. He observed Linus pauling and his work and applied to caltech but was unfortunately declined. Therefore in Indiana he went after DNA and its meaning and form. Over this process he worked with many people and came to many discoveries that help them in their journeys. A helix The discovery of the Alpha helix came up when, James Watson was one day alerted that Linus Pauling had partially solved the structure of proteins. Following up on this James found out that, in on of Pauling s talks he revealed the alpha helix model. This was a large event in the race for DNA because Linus was the first person to propose something solidly correct about DNA structure. This new event however, did not provide a lot of progress for James s work because of at the time how he could not tell if this suggestion was correct or not. Later on this information did help them because they took on the helical shape with the addition of x ray evidence. Calculations of Cochran/crick The Calculations of Cochran and crick came about because of a letter containing information on a theory for X ray diffraction. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Five Characteristics Of A Good President Presidents are very important to the country, but the 3 most important requirement to become a president of the United States include, being the age of 35, a natural born citizen and a resident within the United States for 14 years. When looking at the American history today and trying to figure out the best one, it is important to look at individual traits that make a good president. For example, some presidents were loved by the public but barely made any accomplishment in the office while on the other hand some presidents made massive accomplishments for the economy and the country but were overlooked with disregard. The five important traits for a good president are Intelligence/ wisdom, honesty, leadership quality, respecting and hard working. Another important trait is honesty as it is very important for the country to have a trustworthy leader who doesn t cheat on his people; every president in the history of America has made a false and a fake promise to his people before being elected as the president to win the heart of the people and later not complete the promise that he had made. The president should not lie to his people; he should also be honest to other countries for alliances and unions and without the alliance the country might suffer and not be well known. For example, if the president of the United States lies to the Chinese government, there is a high chance for the Chinese government to stop exporting their products which a lot of the U.S. citizens rely on. They have looked at the natural cycles and events that are known to influence climate. But the amount and pattern of warming that is been measured can t be explained by these factors alone. The only way to explain the pattern is to include the effect of greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted by humans. One of the first things scientists learned is that there are several greenhouse gases responsible for warming, and humans emit them in a variety of ways. Most come from the combustion of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. The gas responsible for the most warming is carbon dioxide, also called CO2. Other contributors include methane released from landfills and agriculture (especially from the digestive systems of grazing animals), nitrous oxide from fertilizers, gases used for refrigeration and industrial processes, and the loss of forests that would otherwise store CO2. Desertification could be described as the spread of a desert environment into arid or semiarid regions, caused by climatic changes, human influence, or both. (Cline 2007) Climatic factors include periods of temporary but severe drought and long term climatic changes toward dryness. Human factors include artificial climatic alteration, as through the removal of vegetation (which can lead to unnaturally high erosion), excessive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Previous knowledge was essential right up until the 1700s (Encyclopedia of Art History, n.d.). Conclusion The relationship between art and science become fundamental in the renaissance era. Not everybody believes in the theory, but it is also the basis of some religions. Reincarnation is the rebirth of the soul after death, and it is believed to happen to everyone. Some people even have memories of their past lives unlike others. Reincarnation is an intriguing belief that could explain what happens to people after death. I.A. The one person who started the theory of reincarnation is unknown, but there are a few religions believed to have started the theory in ancient times. Many Americans like to think of reincarnation as a fantasy of supernatural Buddhists, Hindus, and aboriginal tribes, but there are many more religions whose teachings say to believe. First, the subject of reincarnation comes up in the traditions of India. Second, it is one of the core beliefs of hinduism Hindus have always believed in the theory ( Reincarnation ). Next, many people claim ancient Egyptians taught reincarnation. It is also believed to be in ancient Greek mythology ( Reincarnation Mark ). I have obtained high hopes for my commitments, and I am certainly not going to give up. I am acquiring high hopes after a fresh, educational start after graduating from Harvard, but I did have to be a cabin boy for many years in my childhood, from when I was born in 1565. It was either me continuing the journey to find the passage, or turning back home for these people to get help. I was leaning towards the continuing side, but my son was in bad shape, so I hesitated for a long time. A few months later, in June of 1611, much of my crew had mutinied, and I knew I was going to be swindled. As a matter of fact, much of my crew left by getting on the large vessel. I sent my son with them, because I wanted him to live for a long time. After that event, I was only left with seven others, and it would only take until the end of that year to run out of food, and the water in the river was too cold to drink. An umbrella policy is an additional liability insurance coverage above and beyond the limits of the insured s regular insurance for home, auto or watercraft. The umbrella nomenclature is used as in referring to the broader coverage provided by the policy. Significant property damage: If a personal or business vehicle causes significant damage to another vehicle and/or property through an accident as a result of the policy owner s fault, it may exhaust the standard auto insurance liability limit. There comes the scope of personal or commercial umbrella policies for automobile insurance. 2. Liability of serious physical injury: The policy owner s limit of standard homeowners insurance liability may not be enough to cover costs for medical treatment and other issues related to a guest falling prey to an accident inside his home. This needs a personal umbrella policy for the homeowner, or a commercial umbrella policy if the house is a business property. 3. Libel or slander. Expensive lawsuits may result from something said or written by the policy owner about another person. This calls for a personal umbrella policy. 4. Malicious prosecution. Full Metal Jacket Peter Jacoy TH208 November 17th, 2014 Full Metal Jacket Movie Analysis Before watching the movie Full Metal Jacket, I thought it would be more of a comedic type of war movie. This movie portrayed the sad part of war, where you lose your closes friends, and shows how gruesome and cold war could be. In today s society, video games only portray the positive stigma of war instead of showing the negatives and dark part of it. My favorite scene of the movie was from the opening of the film to the first meeting between the U.S Marine Corps recruits and the senior drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. Mimicking the Natural Environment Essay Mimicking the Natural Environment In Clifford Geertz s article, Two Types of Ecosystems, he suggests that the uneven distribution of the Indonesian population is in direct correlation with the different methods of agriculture used by those in the densely populated area and those in the less populated area. Geertz explores the distinct characteristics of two methods of cultivation in Indonesia, swidden and sawah agriculture. Swidden agriculture, as described by Geertz, is when the forest is burned and cleared so new crops can be sowed. Like the Indonesians, the Guarani also use swidden agricultural methods to cultivate the surrounding forest. The Guarani pick a potential garden plot and as a communal effort, each family s garden is cleared of vegetation and then burned to eliminate remaining vegetation. This slash and burn method provides the Guarani people with nutrient rich soil and ample sunlight. The garden plot is then planted with a variety of crops, often four or five different plant species in one square meter. Once the crops have been harvested, the plot is used several more times before it is abandoned. When a plot is abandoned, the surrounding forest takes back the earth, and the plot is incorporated back into the forest. Differences Social Class and Success The True Purpose of Compulsory Education in American Schools Connie Nollner University of Alaska Anchorage Presented to Victoria Sansome In partial fulfillment of the requirements For ENGL A111 Abstract John Gatto, a school teacher in the Manhattan area, taught for thirty years at a variety of different schools. During these years, he realized that children were frequently bored with classroom activities as a result of how they were being taught. In other words, compulsory education is designed to keep the majority of the population in the lower class by making children manageable. Students are separated out according to intellectual abilities, social class, and even by the Darwinian theory of the favorite race. The children are then further sorted based on subject, grades, ranking on tests, or by other means, allowing schools to control who will advance or stay behind. Compulsory education is intended to prevent children from ever truly growing up or seeking their potential in life. The outcome of this is that they are not advancing to become complete adults in our society. As Dr. Inglis said if children could be cloistered with other children, stripped of responsibility and independence, encouraged to develop only the trivializing emotions of greed, envy, jealousy, and fear, they would grow older but never truly grow up. (Inglis, A., 1918) The first of the six purposes, the adjustive or adaptive function, is used to establish fixed habits of reaction to authority. Gatto feels this is directly connected to why children are frequently bored in school. He claims that this prevents critical thinking altogether and does away with the idea that useful and interesting subjects should be taught because as he states, you can t test for reflexive obedience until you know whether you can make kids learn, and ... Like conventional items justice has a function. However it is important that a thing s function is the work that it alone can do, or can do better than anyone else (I. 353a). Basically, Plato is assuming that we, human beings are dependent on each other and working together will create a more sustainable society for all. It makes sense for every individual to specialize in a task and can trade goods or services with one another. Plato further applies this concept to his analogy of the city and parts of the soul. In the creation of a city, and for the soul to be justice it has a particular hierarchical formation. For building the ideal city, Socrates divides people into three types of classes: the ruling class, the auxiliary or warrior class and the producer class of merchants and artisans. • 28. The Effect Of Pef On Biological Cells In general, the primary effect of PEF on biological cells is the changes in the structure and the breakdown of cell membranes, which is mainly responsible for mass transfer, and several other metabolic activities in the cell (Ade Omowaye, Angersbach, Taiwo, Knorr, 2001). The cell membrane is considered as a capacitor filled with dielectric material of low electrical conductance, and accumulation of charges with opposite polarity in both sides of membrane form a membrane potential. However, when the overall potential exceeds 1V, the elctro compressive force cause dielectric rupture of membrane leads to formation of pores/micro holes in the membrane (Schoenbach, Peterkin, Alden, Beebe, 1997). Changes in the cell membrane can lead to form reversible or irreversible pores in the cell membrane and ultimate loss of cell viability. On the other hand, voltage sensitive protein channels would be opened when PEF applied and subject to much larger currents which generally have during cell metabolic activities. Consequently, protein channels could be irreversibly denatured (Castro, Barbosa Canovas, Swanson, 1993). Barsotti and Cheftel. (1999) have stated that pore inversion generally occurs under an applied electric field with the expansion of hydrophobic pore. As Weaver and Chizmadzhev. Airborne sound and Impact sound. Airborne sound is vibrations generated from a source, like speech and loudspeakers, which is then transmitted through the air. These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them, which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the sound. The way to reduce these vibrations is to increase the mass of the floor. Therefore, concrete has a better sound resistance than timber. Whereas impact sounds are sounds that are caused by something coming into contact with the floor. Such as footsteps. The vibrations caused by impact sound can also cause some airborne sounds in objects attached to or resting on the floor. Sound can transmit through a floor in two way, directly or indirectly. Each interview transcript, observation field note, and police or school record will be uploaded into Atlas.ti in order to store and manage the data, and later will be used to code and categorize. Organizing and memoing the data are significant steps because they encompass reading through, sorting, familiarizing with the material, making initial codes, and, more generally, comprehending the collected data in order to create a detailed description of the case (Creswell 2013, p. 101). The description will be thorough, in depth, and will contextualize the case in the unique setting of the South Bronx, thereby serving as a validation strategy (Alley 2016). The description serves to depict the complexity of the case itself and allows the data to be analyzed sequentially based on the actual progression of the case. The themes and patterns will be directly interpreted to develop naturalistic generalizations of what was learned (Creswell 2013, p. 190). For each variable, do each of the following: (a) describe it, including how many different levels of the variable there will be (b) describe how you intend to manipulate the variable, and (c) explain why this variable is included in the design, and why each level of this variable is included. ... The dependent variables that are going to be measured on their responses to offer or reserving their rights over blood donation. Subjects part of the experiment and control group will still be confronted with a chance to influence or affect their engagement altruistically for others wellbeing or survival. 4. How many different conditions will there be in this experiment? The experiment showcases of two different conditions involving participants answering with an explicit answer of consent or dissent in giving away much need blood. • 38. The Key Role Of Finance The key role of finance in any business is to manage money; whether it be raising capital through share capital and bank loans, raising credit (short term capital), or handling the costs of the business. Without finance, a business would not function, as quoted by (Griffin, 2015); Money is the lifeblood of a business and finance is the nerve center . Key activities of the finance department: Firstly, one of the key activities of the finance department is to maintain a check on the costs/outgoings of the business. This is important because if the business spends too much, it may have to dip into its capital money invested into the business to start it in the first place or it may have to take out bank loans, in order to finance the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is very important because a business needs to know exactly where and when all of its money has been spent at any given time in order to be able to reduce the costs for the future. For example, for the year ending 2014 Arcadia Group generated £316.8 million revenue and finished up with £143.1 million pre tax profit. (Limited, 2014) The decisions made by the accountants in the finance department leading up to and after the publication of these figures is essential to the financial success of the Arcadia Group (Topshop, Top man, Wallis, etc). Without constant reviews and informed judgements and decisions (Weetman, 2006) by the accountants in finance, the Arcadia Group would start to make a loss and possibly, eventually go bankrupt. By evaluating the figures and reaching conclusions on them, the Arcadia Group will be better able to maximize the profits for the company. Key tools and ideas that are critical to finance: One of the key ideas behind the finance function is the question; Is the business making a profit? This is because without making a profit, a business would not continue to exist. For example, in 2013 Ford made $8.6 billion in pre tax profits, but in 2014 Ford made $6.3 billion, so there was a drop of $2.3 billion (Ford, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Wastewater... Executive Summary Severodvinsk has its economy based on industry, mainly in shipbuilding yards, civilian vessels construction and repair, manufacture of marine tools and the most important submarine, nuclear submarines and military equipment. Severodvinsk is situated on the shore of two different water sources: White Sea and Northen Dvine River. There are around five months with relative high temperatures when the snow will melt, raising the volume of river and sewage. Saying that separate system is useful to guarantee a low variation of flow into the sewage. The unit will be based on a preliminary, primary, secondary and tertiary treatments as for this project the pre treatment for industrial wastes will not be considered, even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saying that, some assumption must be taken. The design is supposed to meet the demand of whole year with low variation of efficacy. Waste water treatment plants consists on a series of processes and units to produce a specific effluent of known composition and flow rate. These treatments are essential to deal with domestic, industrial and agricultural contaminations and pollutants mainly considering solids of organic nature. The main focus on this design will be organic compounds in the domestic waste water BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solids). Based on the Royal Commission for UK and Ireland the concentrations of effluents to be disposed on receiving water are 20mg/L for BOD5 and 30mg/L for TSS as theses parameters apparently would not cause any harm and will not be favourable for other process such as eutrophication. Considering that Severodvinsk is situated close to the Dvina River and White Sea these concentrations does not need to be highly restricted once that there is plenty of water available for further dilutions. Is important to have in mind that low parameters involves high investments in processes and equipments. Before start designing the processes itself is essential to understand the flows and concentrations of BOD5 and TSS that are running into the units. Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Parental Involvement in the Youth Criminal Justice System... Summary of Context In their article Doug Hillian and Marge Reitsma Street examines parents involvement in the youth criminal justice system in Western Canada. Their study was conducting on ten Caucasian families nine of which were middle and upper middle class, with sons, involved in the Juvenile Criminal Justice System. The study was to determine the parents place in the judicial system, which appears to make it more arduous for parents, attempting to deal with the difficult task of parenting young offenders, while navigating a system, which labels, blames, and assumes that as parents they are unfit, irresponsible, and uncaring. Hillian and Reitsma argues if one starts with the conceptual approaches to youth justice, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, it is with the utmost importance, that the courts strategize, on how to empower and motivate parent s participation and involvement. The most obvious or realistic approach, would be to utilize studies with concrete outcomes and conclusion, or expound on, or develop a study or focus group identifying the parents needs, parenting style, barriers, and other challenges that makes parental involvement difficult. Thus, it would allow the implementation of practical and viable solutions, specifically changing the systemic problems, empowering parents, and forging a collaborative relationship between the juvenile justice system, the community, and parents. Some things, should to be immediately done, such as treating parents with empathy and respect, understanding that they have rights and should be informed of those rights. Some of the apparent rights of the parents are fair treatment with dignity and respect, the rights to know what the courts expects of them, and informed of all scheduled court dates and appointments, which could be inserted in a pamphlet. The overall benefit would be to work together in a collaborative effort to help reduce the recidivism rate among youth and lessen the inconvenient burden of the parents, community and juvenile justice system. Face to face public speaking puts hefty demands on speakers and listeners. The mixture of personality, body and voices as well as chemistry makes speech a form of communication with exciting energy. Irrespective of the attention given, it will create a significant and meaningful message. Without an effective presentation the speech will unlikely create desire effects. In the article Don t be Shy (Aviv, 2016) it states how public speaking affects students to the point they will drop the class as long as they don t have to speak in front of it or even sitting in class and having to raise your hand to ask a question in front of the class stops many students due to fear of embarrassment. We all struggle with communication anxiety, and uneasiness with unfamiliar situations. It also describes how improving certain aspects in presentations will allow enough experience and confidence to have the ability to successfully speak publicly, because we all know that speaking well if often crucial to getting a job. The article has some good points, teaching the students first hand to overcome stage freight. One professor helped her students with communication anxiety urging them to make index cards with opening lines for starting conversations (Aviv, 2016). Universities are all aware of the anxiety that goes into communication with others. Penn State created a Speech Anxiety course to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Change In Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point Amber Anderson Joel Williams ENC1101/LEC/07 10/25/2017 Close Reading Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point is radical because he talks about how the environment can change people behavior. The environment could have caused people to change for better or worst. For example: When people were placed in an environment of filth they are more violent and hectic causing the crime rate to increase. When you come from a bad neighborhood you are statistically more likely to be dangerous and belligerent. If you were to place people into a different environment, you can expect change (not saying it always work). Throughout the story Malcolm gives many examples of change. He starts off by talking about four young men who were on a New York train. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The change came from simply fixing the trains, not from wanting to change but from cleaning up the environment. Showing that they are more than what they see. Clean makes you feel better about yourself as for dirty makes you feel scum like. So why not act how you feel? It is events like what I stated above that helped the people to see that change can be just as simple as cleaning the train. Being in an environment filled with filth, stench, and nothingness in the air, can lead you to doing bad things. In the story four men were acting like they had something and when approached a man were then shot. If you dig deeper, you truly find out the four young men didn t have an easy life. They came from a horrible place. Somewhere less fortunate than they needed to be. That key setting caused them to react and see things more angrily and act out as such. Malcolm Gladwell writes: The encounter between Bernie Goetz and those four youths on the subway: Allen, Ramseur, Cabey, and Canty. At least two of them, according to some reports, appear to have been on drugs at the time of the incident. They all came from the Claremont Village housing project in one of the worst parts of the South Bronx. Cabey was, at the time, under indictment for armed robbery. Canty had a prior felony for possession of stolen property. Allen had been previously arrested for attempted assault. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
