BlasГ© Project
BlasГ© Project explores representations of identities, behaviors style in the 21st Century s art
and society, through a series of acts taking on the codes of fashion and media. BlasГ© means
unimpressed with, or indifferent to something because one has experienced or seen it so often
before. BlasГ© can also be interrupted as being bored from over indulgence. My exploration of
the construct BlasГ© started as an intertextual response to G. Simmel s essay Metropolis the
Mental Life (1903). Simmel examines the factors and manifestations of this psychic state of
indifference, typical to the urban individual. The deepest problems of modern life derive from
the claim of the individual to preserve the autonomy and the individuality of his existence in the
face of overwhelming social forces, historical heritage, external culture and of the technique of
life ~ G. Simmel. The first part of my project BlasГ©. Unimpressed and Still Existing was inspired

Nuclear Waste Disposal Essay example
Nuclear Waste Disposal
As the millenium approaches, we are faced with the problems created by our technological
advances. Everyday we are forced to see the results, from acid rain to polluted beaches. But there
is one problem in particular that will probably out live our generation and the generation which has
created it. If properly contained and monitored, it has little affect on us and our environment.
However, once it is free of it s containment, it is a destructive and deadly force. This problem is
nuclear waste.
Thirty thousand metric tons of spent fuel rods from power reactors and another 380,000 cubic
meters of high level radioactive waste, have been produced in the United States since the beginning
of the nuclear age. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a nuclear reactor of a nuclear power plant, the fission process is contained within the
zirconium or magnesium cladding that surrounds the fuel rods. The fuel rods are spent after the
fission takes place. They are highly radioactive and give off dangerous gamma radiation, which is
similar to X ray and can therefore penetrate through a human body. It is necessary to shield the
spent fuel rods with water and thick lead walls (Bertell, 1985). These fuel rods and their contents,
are essentially what comprises nuclear waste and is what needs to be kept secure for hundreds of
thousands of years.
Two types of radiation
There are two types of radiation; particle and penetrating. Penetrating radiation or gamma radiation,
can pass through human tissue and damages cell functions. After about 500 years, gamma radiation
in nuclear fuel waste drops to low enough levels that it poses no real threat to humans (AECB,
1992). Particle radiation includes alphan and beta radiation. This type of radiation is given off by
the longer lived radioactive substances. This means that the substances remain hazardous for many
thousands of years. Neither these types can penetrate human tissue. However, they can affect cell
function and therefore cause cancer if the radioactive substance has been ingested or inhaled

Romeo Dallaire, “Cri de coeur” Essay
Romeo Dallaire, Cri de coeur , A Argument of Truths
Dallaire did exceptional when it comes to the naming of his essay, by not only simplifying the
subject but maintaining the true meaning. Cri de coeur, also known as A cry from the heart , is
not only heartbreaking but truthfully eye opening. Every event recounted is straight from
Dallaire s point of view, which could have made his rhetorical appeals intertwine. It is clear from
reading that one appeal stood above the rest while reading, which is pathos. Dallaire decided to
share something with the world that a majority have never experienced nor hopefully will ever
have to. By doing so, he deliberately unleashed a handful of emotions. Using pathos allowed him to
appeal to our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being able to see both sides of him definitely improves the overall meaning to the memoir.
Therefore we, as the readers, are not only being held to see just one perspective and feel simply
just one feeling. Dallaire does amazing when it comes to opening himself up, and by doing so,
letting others into a world and story that once was hidden.
Having been so open about his feelings and the events that occurred within Rwanda, therefore
bound to surface just how disappointed he was, with not only the government, but mostly with
himself. He recalls and describes events that not only shock, but disturb the majority of the
readers. The biggest parts of the whole essay that truly emotionally connected to people in more
ways than one would have to be the description of the young orphaned boy and the way the
government talks about the situation. We will recommend to our government not to intervene as
the risks are high and all that is here are humans. (Dallaire, 502, 18) Being able to look at the
devastating chaos and be able to say all that is here are humans. As if humans young or old, black
or white, male or female, aren t worth our time and oh so valuable finances. If Dallaire did not
have readers attentions before his point, it is guaranteed he did afterwards.

Individuals That Contributed To The Civil War Essay
Individuals That Contributed To The Civil War The Civil War was brought about by many
important people, some that wanted to preserve and some that wanted to eradicate the primary
cause of the war, slavery. There were the political giants, such as Abraham Lincoln, and
Stephen Douglas. There were seditious abolitionists such as John Brown, escaped slaves such as
Dred Scott, and abolitionist writers like Harriet Beecher Stowe. These were the people who,
ultimately, brought a beginning to the end of what Lincoln called a moral, a social, and a political
wrong (Oates 66).
Southern states, including the 11 states that formed the Confederacy, depended on slavery to
support their economy. Southerners used slave labor to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the passage of this act, a new Lincoln emerged into the world of politics. Although he was
as ambitious for political office as ever, he was now, for the first time in his career, devoted to a
cause. He became a forceful spokesman for the antislavery forces.
In 1857, the Supreme Court of the United States added to the mounting tension by its decision in
the Dred Scott
Case. Dred Scott was a slave owned by an army surgeon in
Missouri. In 1836, Scott had been taken by his owner to
Fort Snelling, in what is now Minnesota, then a territory in which slavery was explicitly forbidden
according to the
Missouri Compromise (Oates 50). In 1846, he brought a suit in the state court on the grounds that
residence in a free territory liberated him from slavery. The Supreme Court of
Missouri, however, ruled that since he was brought back into a state where slavery was legal,
the status of slavery was reattached to him and he had no standing before the court. The Scott
case was then brought before the federal court which still held against Scott. The case was finally
appealed to the Supreme Court, where it was argued at length in 1856 and decided in 1857. The
decision handed down by a majority vote of the Court was that there was no power in the existing
form of government to make citizens slave or free, and that at the time of the

Teenage Pregnancy In The United States
During the 1600s and up to the early 1900s in the United States, teenage pregnancy was not
identified as a social problem. Instead, the only issue during this time was the pressure of
conceiving out of wedlock. Early family formation during the colonial times was considered normal
for Americans due to the ease of access on resources and land. In the United States, teenage
pregnancydeveloped into a social problem through the progression of women s roles in society and
lack of contraceptives which resulted to American citizens having to pay higher tax dollars in order
for the government to financially support teen pregnancy and prevention programs.
The first change that led society to identify teen pregnancy as a problem were the responsibilities ...

Therefore, the responsibilities that women took on during the colonial times presented many as a
housewife to independent working women during World War II. Because of the change, women
prioritized their financial needs over starting a family, leading the decline of family formation at
an early age. Nonetheless, when men came back from war, the United States underwent a baby
booming era from 1946 to 1964, so women, including teenage girls started families. Starting from
the 1970s, America s employment rate increased causing many older women to stop forming
families and work. Teenage girls, however, did not. Instead, the numbers for teen pregnancies
skyrocketed to about 750,000. Through this came a second change that caused teenage
childbearing to become an issue: Congress enacted Title X and welfare programs to help teen
mothers, taxing taxpayers of America about 9.4 billion dollars yearly. The third change is the
increasing amount of awareness and contraceptives provided to teenagers ever since the outburst in
the 1960s. This is due to the prevention programs and reproductive health care facilities, causing
teen pregnancies to decrease starting from the 1990s. The health clinics like Planned Parenthood
offered teens subsidized contraceptive which is something that failed to occur in the 1960s because

The Draining Of Glacial Lake Missoula And The Formation...
THE DRAINING OF GLACIAL LAKE MISSOULA AND THE RESULTING GEOLOGICAL
FORMATIONS
RIZZO, Scott
Department of Geology, SUNY Cortland,Cortland, NY 13045
In the 1920 s, geologist J. Harlen Bretz challenged the current concept of how various geological
formations happened. At the time, geologists believed in uniformitarianism, which meant that
geologic change in the past resulted from the same slow, steady processes at work today.
But Bretz presented evidence that there was at least one exception to this rule namely the geologic
formations of the Columbia River Basin and the Channeled Scablands. He proposed that a glacier
caused an ice dam that blocked the Clark Fork River, creating Glacial Lake Missoula. He thought
that the ice dam would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, he said the source could be a melting glacier somewhere near present day Spokane, but
couldn t say how that much ice could melt so fast. Another geologist, Joseph Pardee, however, had
already identified the source of the flood. It was Glacial Lake Missoula, in addition to a slowly
melting glacier! ВВ
There have been at least five major ice ages in the pass one billion years. The most recent was
called the Pleistocene Ice Age, which began about two million years ago. Interglacial periods
occurred where temperatures increased slightly and the glaciers would melt and retreat. During
the Pinedale glaciation, there were two ice sheets. One of them being the Cordilleran Ice Sheet.
The Cordilleran Ice Sheet was comprised of three main lobes. The Puget Lobe, Okanogan Lobe,
and the Purcell Trench Lobe. The one lobe in Northern Idaho, near present day Lake Pend
Oreille, was the Purcell Trench Lobe. When these sheets of glacial ice moved south they caused
an ice dam to occur. J.T. Pardee states that The evidence of icebergs, together with the apparent
regency of the lake and the variable height of its surface, connect this lake with the glacial
period, and readily lend themselves to the suggestion that its dam was of ice (Pardee, 1910) This
ice dam blocked the Clark Fork River which is near the boundary of Idaho and Montana. The water
from the river was blocked and began to build up and formed Glacial Lake Missoula. Water

Logical Fallacy Research Paper
Logical Fallacy
A Logical Fallacy is, generally talking, a mistake of thinking. When somebody receives a position,
or tries to influence another person to embrace a position, in light of an awful bit of thinking, they
submit a misrepresentation. I say generally talking in light of the fact that this definition has a
couple of issues, the most imperative of which are sketched out underneath. Some sensible false
notions are more basic than others, thus have been named and characterized.
Informal Fallacies
Inductive Arguments needn t be as thorough as deductive arguments to be great arguments. Great
inductive arguments loan backing to their decisions, yet regardless of the fact that their premises
are genuine then that doesn t create with 100% conviction that their decisions are valid. Indeed,
even a decent inductive argument with genuine premises may have a false conclusion; that the
argument is a decent one and that its premises are genuine just creates that its decision is
presumably genuine. Every inductive argument, even great ones, are thusly deductively invalid,
thus fallacious in the strictest sense. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Logical and Factual Errors
Arguments comprise of premises, derivations, and conclusions. Arguments containing awful

drawn, can positively be called fraudulent. What is less clear is whether arguments containing false

Symbolism In The Masque Of The Red Death
The Secrets of Stories Where there is fright and fear, there is confusion and consequences. In
The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, a pestilence, Red Death, is roaming free.
Prince Prospero and the other nobles decided to block out the disease by staying in the prince s
palace and have a masquerade ball. No one is allowed in or out, but everyone is struck with terror
knowing that death is coming sometime. The short story was crafted with care, so the literary
elements contribute to the picture created at the end. Irony and symbolism leave the largest
footprint on Poe s literature, especially The Masque of the Red Death. When the components of
symbolism and irony bond together, fiction becomes reality by conveying the message that the
amount of money and protection are false impressions when... Show more content on

Like after several months of staying in the palace, Poe mentions ...the brazen lungs of the clock
a sound which was clear and loud...but of so peculiar a note and emphasis that at each lapse of
an hour, the musicians...were constrained to pause... (4). In this quote, the clock is a meaningful
object and represents the abstract idea of time the nobles have left before their last breath. The
pause is what indicates the fear and significance; this illustrates they know their money and the
walls enclosing them are not enough to avoid the spreading sickness. Symbolism is also another
route writers take when trying to express personal thoughts or opinions towards the story, ideas
presented, or the moral as well. Poe seems to have dark approaches to many of his stories, which
displays a powerful dislike towards the end of life. The puzzle pieces fit together due to the fact
that Edgar Allan Poe dealt with pain, suffrage, and many losses during his lifetime. For example, the
Red Death, the disease, is a representation of tuberculosis.

Middle Ages Narrative Essay
Day 1 Ok. So today, I woke up on a bed, almost falling down. For a moment, I thought where I
was, and remembered that I have traveled back in time to the Middle Ages. I didn t know why I
was on a bed, or how. Soon after I have done dressing up, I noticed that there was a little girl right
next to the door, peeking in the room. Her sister came into the room, and told me that she found
me on this street that people usually don t go. She gave me a bread to eat, while I observe the
room. After eating the bread, I asked if I could see their mother. And this was the most
surprising. The girl told me that SHE was the mother! I couldn t believe what I ve heard, so I
asked her again. Same answer. She told me that it was normal to marry early and give birth
early. I asked her age, and answered 14. Oh god. I m 17. She s younger than me and is already
married. And given birth. And she said it s normal. I guess medieval girls are so early on stuff.
Well the rest of the day was peaceful. Emily was the mother s name and she told me that if I
could help them with chores, I could stay. What a nice mom! So, I helped her clean the room up.
I also noticed something else. It s normal to eat, sleep, and do other stuff in one room, since there
s not enough room. Day 2 Today, I went shopping with Emily to buy food. I noticed a few things
while going to the market. I saw this crowd of people looking at something. I peeked in and looked
at it. It was awful! Emily told me that they were punishing

One the one hand, the fertility of the industry opened the doors to corporations that sighted
substantial growth potential. New entrants with big pockets such as Walmart could pose a certain
threat to Netflix, by exploiting a playing card based on cost reduction. On the other hand, barriers
to entry became relatively significant as established video rental retailers such as Netflix have the
experience and the knowhow to market movies to people. In this industry, firms that do not have a
technological advantage can t compete. The best example is Netflix s CineMatch program that
offered personalized film recommendations based on customer s rental patterns. This way, Netflix
was able to better serve its subscribers. From a cost perspective, the movie rental industry requires
high capital expenditures, and the major expenses are highly related to acquisitions of DVD library
and investments in technology (exhibit 2 continued). Thus, we may say that entry is difficult in this
industry as the competing firms have reputation, experience and recognizable brand names. b)

Theme Of Greed In The Maltese Falcon
Greed has the been the main source of conflict in the Maltese Falcon. In the novel, the characters
desperately chased after an infamous artifact known as the black bird. With thorough research, it
had been discovered that this thousand year old artifact was worth millions of dollars. Yet, due to
the existence of this bird, numerous people have been greatly affected. Various individuals have
been intrigued by the bird and eventually become consumed by its value. But, the character who
has truly been consumed by greed due to the blackbird is Gutman. Gutman s greed for the bird has
led to the death and deception of many. Miles Archer, a detective and partner of Sam Spade, died
because of this. All Miles did was carry out his duty as a detective and went through with a case
that would eventually lead to his death. Miles archer is the victim of Gutman s greed. Mr.
Gutman is the killer of the innocent Miles Archer . However, Gutman was not the one who had
physically killed young Miles . The one who was responsible for putting an end to his life was
Brigid O Shaunessy. At the end of the novel, it is discovered that it was Brigid who actually shot
and killed Mr. Archer in the alley. Once Mile s partner, Sam Spade figures this out, he says to
Brigid You killed Miles and you re going over for it. (Hammett 163) Despite figuring out this
information, this quote is indirectly referring to Mr. Gutman. Mr Gutman is the true culprit of
killing Miles Archer. Brigid s greed was

Thomas Paine The Crisis No. 1 Essay

united throughout this war. Paine uses patriotism as well as, logic and reasoning in order to
convince the colonists. Thomas Paine makes good use of patriotism in The Crisis No.1 in order to
make his argument more effective. He states These are the times that try men s souls. The summer
soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he

In his end thoughts Thomas Paine says, But if a thief breaks into my house, burns and destroys
my property, and kills or threatens to kill me or those who are in it and to bind me in all cases
whatsoever to his absolute will, am I to suffer it? What signifies it to me, whether he who does it
is a king or a common man (The Crisis No. 1). Thomas Paine is successful when he says this to
support his argument of the Americans remaining United during this time against Britain. By using
logic he attempts to poke at the Americans common sense. He tells them the obvious, he knows
no person in their right mind would willingly let someone into their house to take their
belongings, so he uses it to his advantage. He forces the colonist to consider if they wouldn t let
their neighbor take their things why let Britain do it?Why allow yourself to remain under the
control of a not so good King? As a way of persuading the American Colonist to remain or start to
stay United with The United States, Thomas Paine writes The Crisis No.1 . Paine makes good use
of patriotism as well as logic and reasoning in order to successfully convince the Americans to

Romeo And Juliet s Unlucky Relationships
The iconic play of Romeo and Juliet has been widely known for years due to its portrayal of love
at its absolute worst. Some may believe that Romeo and Juliet s unlucky relationship matches
closely with modern day love affairs but the opposite is true, the difference between this
Shakespearian tragedy and modern day relationships is as clear as day and Romeo and Juliet s
tragic end and age prove this. Even how the star crossed lovers met set them up for failure. It is
common for couples to drift apart, whether it be by their own will or death s harsh toll, but it is
unlikely for a relationship to end in suicide, let alone two. Even if your husband or wife were to
meet a tragic end, of course, the other partner would be deeply upset but eventually

Captain Americ The American Dream
Captain s Duty From Captain America s birth, he symbolized America. In and out of costume,
Captain America, AKA Steve Rodgers, exemplifies all the best qualities of America. He embodies
the American dream. America continues to grow more diverse every day, yet still Steve remains the
undying patriotic example of what it means to be American.
The American dream in simple terms is the fulfillment of the ideals the America was founded on
with equal respect. To go into more detail, the American Dream allows all people the rights of
liberty, autonomy, justice, dignity, the pursuit of happiness, and the ability to hold the country s
leaders accountable when they fail to uphold these rights. Because the American dream applies to

The patriotic symbol of the American dream has numerous times dissented from the ruling political
powers. Steve Rodgers lives the life of a patriot through and through, but it is important to
understand what it means to live patriotically. Captain Americas patriotism doesn t hinge on blind
passion of one s country right or wrong or on the us versus them mentality produced during war
times. These types of patriotisms prevent the betterment of the world at large. These exclusionary
patriotisms neglect the dignity of other peoples and creates the illusion that anyone who thinks
differently belongs to the them party. Instead, Cap s patriotism lies of Stephen Nathanson s
philosophic moderate patriotism, which balances devotion to one s country with ethical demands to
care for all (White 147). Captain America embraces the shared humanity of people across national
borders. He would strongly support Nathanson s claim that so long as devotion to one s country do
not lead to immoral actions, then patriotism can be laudable. When concern for the own country
blinds people to the legitimate needs and interests of other nations, then patriotism becomes a vice
(White147). Captain America believes countries have the right to pursue its interest, but this should
be done with consideration of other nations and peoples and not at the cost of the countries
principles. Captain America s cosmopolitan patriotism puts him at odds with the government three

Variables of Tridacna isotopes as environmental indicators. Ontogeny, zooxanthella symbiosis, trace
elements, seasonality and relative living depth.
Abstract (In progress)
Isotopic profiles of mollusks provide insight to the biology of fossil and living specimen and the
conditions under which they live in. Isotopic profiles record seasonal variance in temperature,
salinity, dissolved oxygen concentrations and can provide evidence of changes in bio mineralization
in correlation with seasonality and ontology. The shells of Tridacnaare beneficial for Pleistocene
paleoceanography isotopic studies because of their large size making it easier to gain detailed
samples of shell carbonate. The density of the shell better preserves original carbonate of the shell.

Composition of Interest Rates
Composition of interest rates
In economics, interest is considered the price of money, therefore, it is also subject to distortions
due to inflation. The nominal interest rate, which refers to the price before adjustment to inflation,
is the one visible to the consumer (i.e., the interest tagged in a loan contract, credit card statement,
etc). Nominal interest is composed by the real interest rate plus inflation, among other factors. A
simple formula for the nominal interest is: i = r + ПЂ
Where i is the nominal interest, r is the real interest and ПЂ is inflation.
This formula attempts to measure the value of the interest in units of stable purchasing power.

The risks of an individual debt may have a large standard deviation of possibilities. The lender
may want to cover his maximum risk. But lenders with portfolios of debt can lower the risk
premium to cover just the most probable outcome.
Deferred consumption: Charging interest equal only to inflation will leave the lender with the same
purchasing power, but he would prefer his own consumption NOW rather than later. There will be
an interest premium of the delay. See the discussion at time value of money. He may not want to
consume, but instead would invest in another product. The possible return he could realize in
competing investments will determine what interest he charges.
Length of time: Time has two effects. Shorter terms have less risk of default and inflation because
the near future is easier to predict. Broadly speaking, if interest rates increase, then investment
decreases due to the higher cost of borrowing (all else being equal).
Interest rates are generally determined by the market, but government intervention usually by a
central bank may strongly influence short term interest rates, and is used as the main tool of
monetary policy. The central bank offers to buy or sell money at the desired rate and, due to their
control of certain tools (such as, in many countries, the ability to print money) they are able to
influence overall market interest rates.
Investment can change rapidly to

At the end of the Tribulation phase, believers who have denied the Mark of the Beast meet Jesus
in the air where they return to earth for the Second Coming. This phase is a parallel to the
Judgement Day, in which the removal of unbelievers who received their mark are cast into the pit
of hell for eternity. Powell s theory states that the Sun will swell extremely in or around five billion
years from now. The sun s atmosphere becoming increasingly unstable due to reduction of the
burning of hydrogen. The reduction of hydrogen in the atmosphere eventually reaches its lowest
point and the swelling of the sun as a result envelopes the Earth and its Moon (SPACE.com). This
process of hydrogen reduction and the swelling of the sun is called The Red Giant Phase. There are
a few phases to this theory which include the raising of the tides of Earth s oceans, because
rotation forces cause the Earth to rotate faster than the Moon by 1.6 inches per year. Typically, the

Roethkes Use of Tone Essay
Roethke s Use of Tone
Childhood experiences seem to be the ones that are recollected most vividly throughout a person s
life. Almost everyone can remember some aspect of his or her childhood experiences, pleasant and
unpleasant alike. Theodore Roethke s poem My Papa s Waltz suggests even further that this
concept could be true. The dance described in this poem illustrates an interaction between father
and child that contains more than the expected joyous, loving attitude between the two characters.
Roethke s tone in this work exhibits the blended, yet powerful emotions that he, as a grown man,
feels when looking back on this childhood experience. The author somewhat implicates feelings of
resentment fused with a loving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stanza also provides the reader with the feeling of how aggressive this dance may be.
Roethke is apparently referring to his father s belt buckle in the last line of the third stanza.
During an aggressive act such as this, a small child would experience pain from such a man s
belt buckle scraping across his ear in this fashion, yet the child refrains from any type of
resistance. Perhaps this is caused by the child s fear that his father will become angry, so the child
simply endures the pain and tries to enjoy the moment, for he may also feel love and attention that
he may not receive regularly from his father.
Bridges 3 John J. McKenna offers us further suggestions about the feelings suggested in this poem.
In McKenna s article, two of the holograph manuscripts to My Papa s Waltz are discussed.
McKenna implies that the changes made between these manuscripts are further evidence that this
poem shows mixed emotions through the tone that Roethke utilizes. These holograph manuscripts
are labeled MS A and MS B at the University of Washington where they are contained in the
archives. The first of these changes discussed in McKenna s article is the gender of the child in
the poem. He discusses how Roethke seemed to argue with himself about what the sex of the child
should be, but finally chooses male for a few different reasons. It seems plausible that he did
recognize the rough house nature of

Analysis Of The Film Leni Riefenstahl
Having directed and acted in many films, Leni Riefenstahl has become a major figure of the
Nazi film industry. Her most well known film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens, 1935)
is still considered the greatest propaganda film of all time. While Riefenstahl claims that the film
is a documentary and based on history . Susan Sontag s response is that the film it is seen as a
portrayal of a fascist society. A Nazi propaganda tool and not necessarily intended as a fascist
viewpoint. Sontag reasons that the film techniques, and the relationship between Leni Riefenstahl
and the Nazi leadership as well as the consistent illustration of fascist themes found in the film
establishes that Triumph of the Will is fascist and intended to promote and preserve the Nazi
ideology.
During the rise of power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party s in the 1930 s, Leni Riefenstahl
became a household name as a film director, her claim to fame was putting a public face to
Hitler. During this time period, it was very rare for the public to know what their leader looked
like, and with this film it allowed many of the Germans to finally get to see who they elected
into power. Hitler s goal was the complete eradication of the Jewish peoples, in addition he
wanted to spread his ideology and power across Europe. In order to achieve this goal, Hitler
needed the support of all of the German citizens. Which lead to Hitler commissioning, Leni
Riefenstahl to direct a film that would later be dubbed the

Short Essay On Bedbugs
Bedbugs may be little creatures but they are great hitchhikers, very much capable of moving from
one infected site to another. They secretly hide on bedding, clothing, boxes, luggage, and
furniture. But if you really want to sleep like a baby at night and not undergo another bed bug
war, here are some tips to keep the little bloodsuckers out of your bedand hopefully out of your
house too.
1. Make Sure that Your Bed Frame Has Feet
One of the most important things that you need to do is to ensure that your bed has feet. If it
currently doesn t have feet, you can always go to a nearby home store and purchase an affordable
and simple bed frame. Believe it or not, your bed frame will serve an important part in bedbug
proofing your bed.
2. Put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the purpose why having a bed frame is suggested. The bed bugs may attempt to get inside
the bed bug coasters but will end up being trapped inside. Once the bedbugs are inside, they can no
longer climb up the bed frame. Choose the bed bug coasters that contain compartments because you
can track where bed bugs are coming from or how they go up from the ground and hide under the
sheets.
3. If Possible, Move Your Bed Away from Walls or Furniture
This tip is not always possible for every homeowner as some are living in a small space. So,
depending on the size of your room, you can opt to position your bed away from the wall or the
furniture. If you can also put it away from anything that touches the bed, it would be much better.
The reason is simple: these walls or furniture linked to the bed is giving bed bugs a way to cross
and reach your bed while you are sleeping, which of course spells nightmares.
You can keep the bed at least one foot away. Also, bed bugs are not really capable of jumping from
the wall to your bed. So, even if the gap is just one inch, it would also be okay as long as your bed
covers do not also touch the furniture or wall around the bed.
4. Don t Let the Bed Cover Touch the Floor or

How Did The Civil War Shaped America Today
America s Civil War ultimately shaped how America is today. The Civil War is the bloodiest
war to date lasting five years, resulting in the deaths of about 600,000 people, and millions more
were injured. The nation had split into two sides, The Confederacy, mostly Southern states, and
the Union, mainly Northern states. After an ongoing debate, the war sparked due to opposing
beliefs such as how much power the states held compared to the federal government, westward
expansion, and opinions of slavery. Before the war, men had served the primary role in the battles
and women stayed home taking care of the family. Women wanted to take a more active role
during the war, taking on jobs as nurses, spies, laundresses, and cooks. More than 400 women
disguised themselves as men and fought in the Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War.
Some even made extraordinary efforts to make sure their side of the country was the victorious one.
Women like Clara Barton and Sarah Thompson, both of the Union, took on jobs as a nurse and spy
working tirelessly contributing towards the Unions victory. These women recorded events through
diaries and journals that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Paper
Mental health is a fragile thing and terminal conditions such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
(ALS) greatly impact it. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks a person s physical
function. It progressively saps a person s strength and leads to the failure of organs. Unfortunately,
this disease is not fully understood and is difficult to diagnose (Rosenfeld Strong, 2015, pp. 318
319). Knowing fully well that this disease is a death sentence, ALS patients generally have a
negative outlook and this significantly influences their mental health. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
can be diagnosed mainly through the medical perspective and has been extensively researched to
determine the components and controversies it contains. Determining whether or not an individual
has ALS falls under the medical perspective in psychology. Being able to determine a cause of
abnormal symptoms through physical examinations and tests describes the medical perspective....

External Pressure Of Domestic Politics And Foreign Policy
Domestic Politics and Foreign Policy
Although the aspirations and goals of states are often motivated by external political pressures,
analysis of recent foreign policy decisions demonstrates how internal political forces can play
equally crucial roles in the pursuit and execution of these objectives. Thus, it would be invalid to
claim that domestic politics and the nature of regimes play minor roles in either the goals a state
pursues or the means it employs to reach them. By understanding how the diffusion of power in
governments affect policy decisions, one can develop increased awareness of the linkages that exist
between the internal pressures of domestic politics and the external forces of foreign politics.

As the commander in chief, the president plays a significant role in shaping foreign policy. The
president possesses the power to appoint senior cabinet members, commit troops and conduct high
level talks with foreign governments. Congress, on the other hand, has the power to ratify treaties,
confirm the president s appointees and approve budgetary measures. And while the president has
the ability to commit troops, only Congress has the authority to declare war. Despite criticisms of
the American policy making process describing it as inefficient and slow moving, the main purpose
and thus benefit of the constitutional separation of power is the framework of checks and balances
that safeguard against monopolization of foreign policy decision making.
But despite the provisions outlined in the Constitution outlining the separation of power between
the executive and legislative branch in the formulation of foreign policy, congressional influence
over foreign policy decisions waned after World War II. During the Vietnam War, the Johnson and
Nixon administrations became increasingly secretive and monopolized foreign policy decision
authority. Ultimately, however, the growing imbalance of influence of the executive branch in
foreign policy decisions led to the creation of the War Powers Act. The Act stipulated that the
president was required to report to Congress within 48 hours after the

Some Notes on Branding
I.INTRODUCTION
Branding is a plan for earning product reputation and for making sure that the world knows about it
and believes in it too.
Branding is the process by which companies distinguish their product offerings from the
competition. Brands are created by creating a distinctive name, packaging and design. (Egan
Thomas, 1998)
1st Brand name= Bass [beer], because British were the 1st with trademark registration.
Customers (particularly consumers) view a brand as an important part of a product and branding
can add value to a product. A brand can provide a guarantee of reliability and quality, in fact.
Ex. Chanel perfume bottle.

A manufacturer has four sponsorship options. It can launch the product as a:
A. Manufacturer s brand: A brand is created and owned by the producer of a product or service.
B. Private brand: A brand created and owned by a reseller of a product or service. e.g. Tesco Value,

пѓјHard to establish, costly to stock and promote.
пѓјHowever, they can find manufacturers with excess capacity that will produce the private label
at low cost; hence higher profit margins, retailers can decide to stock them more and decide which
shelves they go on.
пѓјAs store brands improve in quality and as consumers gain confidence in their store chains, store
brands will continue to pose a challenge to manufacturer s brands.
C. Licensing: A product or service using a brand name offered by the brand owner to the licensee

e.g. a lunchbox manufacturer pays Sesame Workshop to put Sesame Street characters on their

Corporate brand licensing: The fastest growing form of licensing. A firm rents a corporate

The Stages Of Grief By Elisabeth Kubbler Ross And David...
Five Stage of Grief The thought of death and dying for many is just that, a mere thought that lives
in the back of ones mind. However, for many others these thoughts are a painful reality. How
individuals navigate through death and dying is a very personal journey that cannot be easily
predicted. It is important to understand that there is neither a set time line nor right or wrong way
to process the loss of life. The book On Griefand Grieving: Finding the Meaning of Grief Through
the Five Stage Loss by Elisabeth KГјbbler Ross and David Kessler, aims to help individuals
experiencing loss better understand the coping emotions associated with the grieving process
through identifying five common stages of grief.
Denial
KГјbbler Ross and Kessler (2005) described denial in this instance as a symbolic term versus
literal rejection of information. In this case denial may look more like disbelief of shocking
information. Denial is the minds way of protecting itself against painful and shocking thoughts,
feelings, and perceptions and can be experienced by both healthy and sick persons (KГјbbler Ross
Kessler, 2005). The minds rejection of painful and harmful information is a form of avoidance
coping, which allows individuals to integrate cognitively dissonant information at a more
manageable pace (Charles Kamen, 2012). Through denial one may be able to unconsciously
manage their feelings about the given situation.
Impact of Denial Denial can give individuals the ability to let

The Thin Line Between Disciple and Abuse Child abuser or an unfit parent are the words that come
to mind, followed by disapproving looks and scornful stares, whenever a parent admits to using
corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is an infliction of pain as punishment for unacceptable
behavior, an offense, or wrongdoing. The punishment being administered by the parent or guardian
can range in severity from a pop on the back of the hand to a belt or switch to the heinie. Although
corporal punishmentis a painful means of punishment, the issue here is whether or not it can be

Psychologist Elizabeth Thompson Gershoff, PhD, of the National Center for Children in Poverty at
Columbia University, looked into the positive and negative behaviors that are associated with
corporal punishment. In doing so, she found strong associations between corporal punishment and
the eleven child behaviors and experiences. (Gershoff par.3) Those eleven behaviors and
experiences include, immediate compliance, moral internalization, quality of relationship with
parent, physical abuse from the parent, mental health, aggression, criminal behavior, antisocial
behavior, abuse of own children, and abuse of spouse (Gershoff par.2). Ten of those behaviors are
negative and the only positive behavior is the immediate compliance from the child. Gershoff states
that her findings do not give concrete evidence that all children who have received corporal
punishment have turned out to aggressive or a delinquent. Therefore, there are entirely too many
factors that come in to play. Whether or not the parent and child have a close relationship, if the
parent is able to control their temper while spanking the child, the different forms of corporal

Debt Pay down Each month when you make that mortgage payment to the bank, a tiny portion
of it is going to reduce the balance of your loan. Because of the way mortgages are structured, a
normally amortizing loan has a very small amount of debt pay down at the beginning, but if you
do manage to keep the loan in place for a number of years, you ll see that as you get closer to the
end of the loan term, more and more of your principle is being used to retire the debt. Of course,
all this assumes that you have an amortizing loan in the first place. If you have an interest only
loan, your payments will be lower, but you won t benefit from any loan pay down. if you are
planning to hold the property for 5 7 years or less, it makes sense to look at an interest only loan,
since the debt pay down you d accrue during this time is minimal, and it can help your cash flow
to have an interest only loan, as long as interest rate adjustments upward don t increase your
payments sooner than you were expecting and ruin your cash flow. If you plan to hold onto the
property long term, and/or you have a great interest rate, it makes sense to get an accruing loan
that will eventually reduce the balance of your investment loan and make it go away. Make sure
you run the numbers on your real estate investing strategy to see if it makes sense for you to get
a fixed rate loan or an interest only loan. In some cases, it may make sense to refinance your

Common Use of Ceramics in Dental and Orthopaedic Applications
Ceramics are most commonly used in dental applications as restorative materials for crowns,
cements and dentures.
Some ceramics are used in orthopaedic applications such as bone repair, bone augmentation and
joint replacement but their use in this field is not as extensive or widespread as metals and
polymers because ceramics have poor fracture toughness. This severely limits the use of ceramics
in load bearing applications (Davis, 2003).
Ceramics have high hardness and wear resistance, making them suitable for applications such as the
articulating surfaces in joints and bone bonding surfaces in implants. Ceramics like alumina and

However, being a ceramic, pyrolytic carbon is brittle and therefore once a crack has initiated, it
will propagate through the material which will inevitably cause the mechanical heart valve to fail
which will lead to dangerous consequences such as the death of the patient. This is highly unlikely
to occur though because the increased ductility of pyrolytic carbon would make it difficult for crack
initiation to occur in the first place. Along with the mechanical tests, biological tests have also
shown that pyrolytic carbon also had less platelet aggregation and therefore lower risk of blood
clotting occurring than other materials that were tested like titanium alloys, polycrystalline
diamond. This proved that pyrolytic carbon is highly biocompatible and therefore suitable for this
application as well as being safe within the body (Davis, 2003; Snyder and Helmus, 2004; Ritchie,
1996).
As biomaterials, metals are normally used for load bearing applications such as pins and plates for
bone fixation devices, femoral stems for hip replacement prosthetic devices. They have also been
widely used in dentistry as part of orthodontic devices as well as pins for anchoring tooth
implants. In order to be successful in load bearing applications such as hip or knee replacements,
the metallic biomaterials must have satisfactory fatigue strength in order to endure the forces
placed upon the body by daily activities like walking or chewing (Czernuszka, 1996).

An Ethical Photographer Should Do For Our Last Position...
Introduction:
Kevin Carter, the south African photographer, is famous for a photograph named Struggling Girl.
In 1993, while on a trip to Sudan, Carter found a Sudanese toddler stalked by a vulture. The
vulture is waiting for the girl to die and to eat her but Carter stopped and took a picture instead of
helping the girl. Hundreds of people feel mad about the photograph because Carter only used the
girl to take photograph, and left her away. Ironically, the photograph won the Pulitzer Prizefor

Analysis Of Nietzsche s Full Fathom Five
Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that
aren t necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks
of orange. In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to
have been spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the paintingdoes not display calculation or a lot of
logic. Instead, his creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make
sense of such an unreasonable painting?
The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche
introduces to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of
Tragedy. To be specific,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under such an intoxicating force, Pollock did not think to create symmetrical lines or clear cut
images. We see this throughout the contrasting paint splatters on the canvas. This intoxicating
force also influences his artistic vision. For example, in Full Fathom five Pollock frees himself
of the rules a figurative painter, or Apollonian artist, would follow. An Apollonian artist following
the rules of the force of the line and image would include symmetry and/or logic in their artwork.
These rules also include creating distinguishable figures for people to view. The idea that an
Apollonian artist would create clear images is presented when Nietzsche tells reader to ...imagine
how, through Apollonian dream inspiration, his own state, i.e., his oneness with the inmost ground
of the world, is revealed to him in a symbolical dream image (Cahn and Meskin 224). In this
quote, Nietzsche refers to the Apollonian artist as an artist who sees the world in symbolical
images and then goes on to create them. Likewise, the Apollonian artist creates works of images
and does not give us any sense of intoxication or ambiguity. In this way, Nietzsche would say that
Pollock unleashed himself from any boundaries given to an artist following the Apollonian rules of
art. The outcome of this dissociation is a Dionysian influenced painting displaying expressive paint
splatters placed in unique patterns.

Considering these optimism trends, Shelf Registration would be least favorable alternative.
IV.Final Recommendation: Given the calculations that were projected from the forecast, and
the economic state of the market, I recommend that Goldman Sachs move forward IPO for two
reasons. First, involves the given calculations of the P/E ratio and P/B ratio. The P/E ratio
serves as an indicator of the amount of earnings Goldman receives per share. The P/E ratio for
Goldman was 25 making it 7 points above the industry average of 18.83. In addition, the P/B
ratio that generated was 5.24, which is higher than the entire industry s P/B ratio. These two
components in addition to favorable market conditions for investment banks allowed us to highly
encourage an IPO. If Goldman Sachs went public and allowed the Partners to retain 56% stake,
employees receive 24%, and divide the last portion of shares to the public based upon their capital
expenditures needs. This would not only provide them with the capital needs to proceed with its
global operations and strategic operations but it will also mitigate the risk of losing control of the
company. Also by allocating these high percentages to partners and employees, this would serve as
motivation of loyalty and compensation for employees who could no longer become partners.

The Consequences Of Revenge In The Film Fist Of Fury
Instead of having a real fight in movie, movie directors tend to prefer throwing fake punches in
order to ensure the safety of actors and actresses. But those fake punches have become one of the
least exciting part of the movie. When watching a long fighting scene, audiences would become
less and less engaged and sometimes shift their minds to other things instead of the movie. In the
movie Fist of Furydirected by Lo Wei, an almost six minutes fake fighting scene consisted of main
character Chen Chen fighting twenty evil Japanese makes many audiences wonder the necessity of
this part of the movie. These days, unlike those acted out fighting scenes in movies, the real fight
like the century match between Mayweather and Conor McGregor tends to draw more interest
from people. But what is the root cause of this phenomenon? And if people are less enjoying the
fighting scene, is the fighting scene of Fist of Fury really necessary?
Having the background of Shanghai being invaded by many foreign countries including Japan in
1908, the movie Fist of Fury describes the story of how people s hero Chen Zhen earns dignity
for his fellow Chinese who are oppressed hard by foreign powers through seeking revenge for his
mentor from evil Japanese. In one of the sequences of the movie, finding out that his mentor is
killed by the Japanese, the main character Chen Zhen goes to the Japanese Judo school to seek
revenge, while also returning a disgraceful sign to the Japanese. After expressing

The real answer lies in the interpretation of the constitution by the founding father. Unfortunately,
none are alive to ask.
Reason # 5
When he becomes president, he will be in the top 5 youngest president ever elected to office.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R Texas) after his speech at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., on March 23,
2015.
Ted Cruz game plan is to win over young voters, and part of that strategy, he said, is to use his
sense of humor. This game plan is certainly feasible as 2 out of the last 3 president have been in
the top 5 youngest presidents throughout our entire presidential history. Old and reliable, may not
be the same mindset as voters had decades ago. The young middle age group is the working class,
and certainly has the most to win or lose if they do not get out and vote.

employees who started their careers with WestJet and they only knew The WestJet IT way . Also,
there was a mismatch in the number of employees within the skill sets as compared to other similar

First Continental Congress and the Second Continental Congress and how they came to be through
the events leading up to them. Another captivating piece of our history is that of the formation of
the Constitution along with the interesting factors and characteristics that go along with it. Finally,
we have the emergence of the Federalist and Republican Parties. It is important to have an

The merchants were also fairly outraged because they saw this as a monopoly for the selling of
tea in the colonies. So, colonists were infuriated and refused to allow the East India Company tea
to be shipped into the colonies. They saw this as their most effective form of resistance to the
taxation. In fact, the Sons of Liberty began to threaten the shippers who had to bring the tea into
the colonies. There was a particular event in Boston that captured the Parliament s attention. On
December 16, 1773 an organized band of men who had disguised themselves as Indians, rushed
onto the Dartmouth ship along with two other ships and began to empty 342 chests of tea into the
Boston harbor. This allowed for the loss of nine thousand pounds (approximately eighteen thousand
U.S. dollars) of profit for the British East India Company and is known as the Boston Tea Party.
Similar events occurred in Annapolis, Maryland in 1774 where the residents forced merchants to
burn their own ships. While this was event was awful, it was the Boston Tea Party that inspired the
Parliament s angry reaction. The reaction drawn from the Parliament was the Intolerable Actswhich
can be known as an American term for both the Quebec and Coercive Acts. The Coercive Act was
created in the spring of 1774. This act included the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government
Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act. The Boston Port Act was first
effective on June 1, 1774. This act closed

Persuasion, The, And Free Choice Essay
Persuasion has been around as long as anyone could remember, from persuasion in the Aristotle era
to present day persuasion, it has been defined in many ways. There are many common themes that
are associated with these different definitions. Activity/process, attempt to induce change, change in
beliefs, attitudes, or behaviors, transmission, and free choice is a few of the common themes
presented throughout time. (Perloff, 1933) The art of persuasionhas always been a part of society,
through many techniques people have now been able to persuade others. Techniques such as
attention getting, confidence building, desire, urgency stressing, and response seeking are how
society gets persuaded. These techniques are used in print/digital advertising, TV commercials,
politics, etc.
This is important to know, due to the fact that some persuaders are just using techniques to build
sales, con their way into something, or simply getting the people to give into their beliefs.
Therefore, people could be believing something that isn t actually doing what they claim it does.
Recently, the use of persuasive tactics has been very blunt in politics, due to the 2016 Election.
Both sides (Republican and Democrat) were using techniques in which connected with the public,
thus making this election very nerve wrecking. Other industries who are very dominant in
persuasion is the fashion industry due to women being more susceptible to advertising in which
body and the social image is the key

Women On The Margins Summary
Your question asks us How does one of the women discussed in Women on the Margins
illuminate a particular aspect or aspects of gender in early modern Europe? I feel that Gliki gave
us light on what it was like to live in the seventeenth century on being a Jewish woman, and also it
sheds light on the struggle she had to go through keep her family together as best as she could. She
also showed us that she was able to rise through the ashes like a phoenix from all her hardships that
she had to experience throughout her life.
She had to pay off his debt and make her own money in order to make sure that she was not in
debt and that she would be able to take care of her family. What aspects of early modern Europe
that our writer Natalie Zemon Davis did a great job of showing us. I feel that she did a great job in
showing how women in early modern Europe went through many hardships was because of their

Most times women were not taught how to read and write so the fact that Gliki took inspiration
from her childhood and her father s teachings she was able to become the woman that she was.
Reading about this in our book made my view on the subject widen more than ever before, rather
than just looking at one gender and how that one gender affected the seventeenth century. Women
in the Jewish religion were able to do more than women who practiced other religions. One
example, Catholic women could not do many things like for example, Although every convent had
to have a priest available to say Mass and hear confessions because the Catholic Church ruled these
were functions that no woman could perform, all of the other administrative duties and much of the
spiritual counseling of novices and residents were carried out by women (209

The Use Of Wisdom In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Wisdom is something that all people have to a certain point, but some people just do not use it.
Benjamin had wisdom because he has experienced everything, but just never used it. Napoleon
uses his wisdom to know how to use propaganda to be able to control the other animals. Old Major
was using his wisdomto start a rebellion. Animal Farm, a novel written by George Orwell, uses
Benjamin, Napoleon, and Old Major as symbols to show how wisdom manifests in many different
ways. In the novel, George Orwell uses Benjamin as a symbol of an apathetic person, and he uses
this character to show that there are people who did not care in Russian society. Benjamin does not
show his wisdom until later on in the novel. Because of that, his emotions overthrow

Experiential Learning Activity
The experiential learning activity I will be participating in is attending Mass at a Catholic
church. In attending this experience, I hope to better understand the spiritual needs of a Catholic
individual so I can apply that in my daily nursing experience. This experiential learning activity
will also help to dispel any misconceptions I have about this religion in particular, so I can
provide better nursing care. In the end, I hope to apply the knowledge I have learned to people of
all religions so I can provide culturally safe and accountable nursing care.

The crucifix reminds individuals of Christ s sacrifice and why communion is so important (The
Vatican, n.d.). Often a crucifix will be seen at the center of the alter in the church (The Vatican,

stained glass windows. After finding this information, I understand why individuals hang crucifixes
in their home/bedrooms as it reminds them of Jesus sacrifice.
It was clear that the priest was very highly regarded in the church; whenever he addressed the
congregation with, may the Lord be with you, the entire congregation would respond and say, and
also with you. I am familiar with services from Protestant Christianity, specifically Christian
Reformed. Although the beliefs are similar, the worship style was extremely different. There was a

Causes And Disadvantages Of Smartphone Addiction
INTRODUCTION Smartphones addiction is when you use a smartphone even when you know
that you should not use it or when you make excuses for it usefulness. In early times, people
made and received phone calls using cellular phones. However, nowadays, cellular phones are
often small computers (i.e., smartphones ) as new technology has evolved. For example, people
can watch movies and listen to music on one of these devices. Therefore, the global smartphone
market grew rapidly in 2010 compared with the previous years. With every passing day,
technology is overtaking our daily lives. In fact, 56 percent of all Americans own one. The phone,
computer, tablet and other high tech devices have become not just an object, but for many a best
friend. Malay Mail s recent social experiment shows that many, from teenagers to adults, are not
able to switch off their smartphones. We put both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But when we succumb to smartphone addiction, we become slaves to our phone. This affects our
relationships, work, and life. In addition, we ll have more time and energy to build meaningful
relationships, serve others, and make a contribution to our community. All because our eyes aren t
continually glued to a small, glowing LCD screen. Things that you can do to prevent smartphone
addiction is to lock your phone with an annoyingly long password. Most people set a short
password so they can unlock their phone quickly. But to prevent the addiction, set a long
password instead. Make it at least 15 characters long, and include symbols and uppercase letters.
The inconvenience of unlocking your phone means that you won t use your phone mindlessly.
Other than that is you can turn off your phone before going to bed and leave it to charge outside
your bedroom. It can be tempting to use your phone in the middle of the night, but you won t if it
takes too much effort to even get to your

White Blood Cell Pathogens
In a single drop of blood, there is about 7,000 25,000 white blood cells. The white blood cell
works for the immune system. The white blood cell is small and it is shaped like an oval to move
quickly around the body and to not get stuck. The main function of the white blood cell is to kill
any pathogen that tries to harm the human body system. When a group of cancercalled leukemia
attacks the bone marrow, it cause the bone marrow to produce abnormal white blood cells that do
not function properly. The white blood cell is part of the immune system. The cells in the immune
system distinguish between different kinds of pathogens. Then the immune system makes a
defense targeted specifically at that pathogen. Lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, produce
proteins that help damage or kill the pathogen. There are five kinds of white blood cells that
produce different antibodies to help defend against different kinds of pathogens. Red blood cells
carry oxygen to the lungs, and they also help release carbon dioxide. (Textbook). White blood
cells are round like an oval, small, and has a big nucleus to move efficiently and to help direct
other white blood cells to the invader. White blood cells flow through your bloodstream... Show

Orange Cat Garfield Comparison
Have you ever recognized similarities between you and someone from a book or movie? To me, I
share many similarities with a well known orange cat, Garfield. Through our personality,
characteristics, amongst other attributes, there are many descriptions that make us similar to one
another. Because of these descriptions and attributes, there are many reasons as to why I am similar
to Garfield.
First, a similarity that Garfield and I have in common is that we are both lazy. Garfield is your
typical cat; lays around the house, causing their owners immense stress, and waiting for the meal
given to them in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. I tend to procrastinate and wait until
the last hour or so to do my work, and would rather sleep when given the chance. Garfield and I
both are also sarcastic to an extent, and while the sarcasm within a pile of orange, black and white
pixels can only go so far, mine can travel interdimensionally. Finally, the last trait Garfield and I
share in terms of personality is that we are both defiant when the situation calls for it. Garfield ...

Though he is a cat, and I am no more than a mere human being, we both share the attribute of
being slightly overweight. Well, that description would fit me better than it would fit Garfield,
as he probably weighs about a hundred pounds more than your typical lazy tabby cat. His weight
is often an object of ridicule in his comic strips, as is my weight being an object of ridicule
although in reality, it isn t too severe. Garfield does not handle insults regarding his weight well,
and will often respond to remarks about such characteristic with a snide comeback or violence.
When that occurs, as opposed to how Garfield deals with it, I simply shrug it off. As stated before,
it s not that bad; however, it could be better with exercise and an improved

Endgame Figurative Language
Mankind has always had one question no living person can answer. What is the meaning of our
existence? Are we just here to just run around this planet doing nothing but survive or does
everything we do have a purpose? Samuel Beckett, a well studied French writer, seems to write in a
way that makes his readers feel like mankind cannot find its identity. He validates the idea that
humans are just wondering about life with no meaning with his writing in Endgame. Samuel
Beckett s Endgame uses Freud s psycho analytical idea of melancholia to develop the thought that
life is meaningless. The bleak diction, connotation, and symbolism used makes man rethink the
meaning of existence. The idea that mankind has no meaning in Endgame is explained through...

As people get older they experience more, which gives them the chance to be let down, and
disappointed. When this happens people get led into Freud s idea that once they get let down
they become trapped in a world of disappointment as shown when Hamm states, I once knew a
madman who thought the end of the world had come. He was a painter and engraver. I had a
great fondness for him. I used to go and see him, in the asylum. I d take him by the hand and
drag him to the window. Look! There! All that rising corn! And there! Look! The sails of the
herring fleet! All that loveliness! (Pause.) He d snatch away his hand and go back into his
corner. Appalled. All he had seen was ashes. (Pause.) He alone had been spared. (Pause.)
Forgotten. (Pause.) It appears the case is ... was not so ... so unusual (Beckett). The madman is
just an older gentleman who sees no meaning in the world, therefore he is seen as crazy to
Hamm. The way Hamm describes the madman suggest they are suffering from the same
pathological sickness. When the characters look out the window they see nothing but grey just as
the madman did. Dilworth explains Beckett s personal connection to the madman when he states,
Furthermore, Artaud, like Beckett s nameless figure, was mad, suffering for most of his life from
schizophrenia (Dilworth). This quote explains how Beckett had a close who was very much like
the madman which suggest that the character in his play was based of his friend. The madman is
a symbol of melancholia feelings and mourning for his friend. Beckett writes the play as if all
people become that madman who sees nothing but ashes when they look out the window because
of wounded egos. He uses the madman as a symbol to create the illusion that all humans will
eventually see the world as meaningless and ponder

  • 2. BlasГ© Project BlasГ© Project explores representations of identities, behaviors style in the 21st Century s art and society, through a series of acts taking on the codes of fashion and media. BlasГ© means unimpressed with, or indifferent to something because one has experienced or seen it so often before. BlasГ© can also be interrupted as being bored from over indulgence. My exploration of the construct BlasГ© started as an intertextual response to G. Simmel s essay Metropolis the Mental Life (1903). Simmel examines the factors and manifestations of this psychic state of indifference, typical to the urban individual. The deepest problems of modern life derive from the claim of the individual to preserve the autonomy and the individuality of his existence in the face of overwhelming social forces, historical heritage, external culture and of the technique of life ~ G. • 3. Nuclear Waste Disposal Essay example Nuclear Waste Disposal As the millenium approaches, we are faced with the problems created by our technological advances. Everyday we are forced to see the results, from acid rain to polluted beaches. But there is one problem in particular that will probably out live our generation and the generation which has created it. If properly contained and monitored, it has little affect on us and our environment. However, once it is free of it s containment, it is a destructive and deadly force. This problem is nuclear waste. Thirty thousand metric tons of spent fuel rods from power reactors and another 380,000 cubic meters of high level radioactive waste, have been produced in the United States since the beginning of the nuclear age. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a nuclear reactor of a nuclear power plant, the fission process is contained within the zirconium or magnesium cladding that surrounds the fuel rods. The fuel rods are spent after the fission takes place. They are highly radioactive and give off dangerous gamma radiation, which is similar to X ray and can therefore penetrate through a human body. It is necessary to shield the spent fuel rods with water and thick lead walls (Bertell, 1985). These fuel rods and their contents, are essentially what comprises nuclear waste and is what needs to be kept secure for hundreds of thousands of years. Two types of radiation There are two types of radiation; particle and penetrating. Penetrating radiation or gamma radiation, can pass through human tissue and damages cell functions. After about 500 years, gamma radiation in nuclear fuel waste drops to low enough levels that it poses no real threat to humans (AECB, 1992). Particle radiation includes alphan and beta radiation. This type of radiation is given off by the longer lived radioactive substances. This means that the substances remain hazardous for many thousands of years. Neither these types can penetrate human tissue. However, they can affect cell function and therefore cause cancer if the radioactive substance has been ingested or inhaled ... • 4. Romeo Dallaire, “Cri de coeur” Essay Romeo Dallaire, Cri de coeur , A Argument of Truths Dallaire did exceptional when it comes to the naming of his essay, by not only simplifying the subject but maintaining the true meaning. Cri de coeur, also known as A cry from the heart , is not only heartbreaking but truthfully eye opening. Every event recounted is straight from Dallaire s point of view, which could have made his rhetorical appeals intertwine. It is clear from reading that one appeal stood above the rest while reading, which is pathos. Dallaire decided to share something with the world that a majority have never experienced nor hopefully will ever have to. By doing so, he deliberately unleashed a handful of emotions. Using pathos allowed him to appeal to our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being able to see both sides of him definitely improves the overall meaning to the memoir. Therefore we, as the readers, are not only being held to see just one perspective and feel simply just one feeling. Dallaire does amazing when it comes to opening himself up, and by doing so, letting others into a world and story that once was hidden. Having been so open about his feelings and the events that occurred within Rwanda, therefore bound to surface just how disappointed he was, with not only the government, but mostly with himself. He recalls and describes events that not only shock, but disturb the majority of the readers. The biggest parts of the whole essay that truly emotionally connected to people in more ways than one would have to be the description of the young orphaned boy and the way the government talks about the situation. We will recommend to our government not to intervene as the risks are high and all that is here are humans. (Dallaire, 502, 18) Being able to look at the devastating chaos and be able to say all that is here are humans. As if humans young or old, black or white, male or female, aren t worth our time and oh so valuable finances. If Dallaire did not have readers attentions before his point, it is guaranteed he did afterwards. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Individuals That Contributed To The Civil War Essay Individuals That Contributed To The Civil War The Civil War was brought about by many important people, some that wanted to preserve and some that wanted to eradicate the primary cause of the war, slavery. There were the political giants, such as Abraham Lincoln, and Stephen Douglas. There were seditious abolitionists such as John Brown, escaped slaves such as Dred Scott, and abolitionist writers like Harriet Beecher Stowe. These were the people who, ultimately, brought a beginning to the end of what Lincoln called a moral, a social, and a political wrong (Oates 66). Southern states, including the 11 states that formed the Confederacy, depended on slavery to support their economy. Southerners used slave labor to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the passage of this act, a new Lincoln emerged into the world of politics. Although he was as ambitious for political office as ever, he was now, for the first time in his career, devoted to a cause. He became a forceful spokesman for the antislavery forces. In 1857, the Supreme Court of the United States added to the mounting tension by its decision in the Dred Scott Case. Dred Scott was a slave owned by an army surgeon in Missouri. In 1836, Scott had been taken by his owner to Fort Snelling, in what is now Minnesota, then a territory in which slavery was explicitly forbidden according to the Missouri Compromise (Oates 50). In 1846, he brought a suit in the state court on the grounds that residence in a free territory liberated him from slavery. The Supreme Court of Missouri, however, ruled that since he was brought back into a state where slavery was legal, the status of slavery was reattached to him and he had no standing before the court. The Scott case was then brought before the federal court which still held against Scott. The case was finally appealed to the Supreme Court, where it was argued at length in 1856 and decided in 1857. The decision handed down by a majority vote of the Court was that there was no power in the existing form of government to make citizens slave or free, and that at the time of the ... • 6. Teenage Pregnancy In The United States During the 1600s and up to the early 1900s in the United States, teenage pregnancy was not identified as a social problem. Instead, the only issue during this time was the pressure of conceiving out of wedlock. Early family formation during the colonial times was considered normal for Americans due to the ease of access on resources and land. In the United States, teenage pregnancydeveloped into a social problem through the progression of women s roles in society and lack of contraceptives which resulted to American citizens having to pay higher tax dollars in order for the government to financially support teen pregnancy and prevention programs. The first change that led society to identify teen pregnancy as a problem were the responsibilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the responsibilities that women took on during the colonial times presented many as a housewife to independent working women during World War II. Because of the change, women prioritized their financial needs over starting a family, leading the decline of family formation at an early age. Nonetheless, when men came back from war, the United States underwent a baby booming era from 1946 to 1964, so women, including teenage girls started families. Starting from the 1970s, America s employment rate increased causing many older women to stop forming families and work. Teenage girls, however, did not. Instead, the numbers for teen pregnancies skyrocketed to about 750,000. Through this came a second change that caused teenage childbearing to become an issue: Congress enacted Title X and welfare programs to help teen mothers, taxing taxpayers of America about 9.4 billion dollars yearly. The third change is the increasing amount of awareness and contraceptives provided to teenagers ever since the outburst in the 1960s. This is due to the prevention programs and reproductive health care facilities, causing teen pregnancies to decrease starting from the 1990s. The health clinics like Planned Parenthood offered teens subsidized contraceptive which is something that failed to occur in the 1960s because birth control pill was way ... • 7. The Draining Of Glacial Lake Missoula And The Formation... THE DRAINING OF GLACIAL LAKE MISSOULA AND THE RESULTING GEOLOGICAL FORMATIONS RIZZO, Scott Department of Geology, SUNY Cortland,Cortland, NY 13045 In the 1920 s, geologist J. Harlen Bretz challenged the current concept of how various geological formations happened. At the time, geologists believed in uniformitarianism, which meant that geologic change in the past resulted from the same slow, steady processes at work today. But Bretz presented evidence that there was at least one exception to this rule namely the geologic formations of the Columbia River Basin and the Channeled Scablands. He proposed that a glacier caused an ice dam that blocked the Clark Fork River, creating Glacial Lake Missoula. He thought that the ice dam would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later, he said the source could be a melting glacier somewhere near present day Spokane, but couldn t say how that much ice could melt so fast. Another geologist, Joseph Pardee, however, had already identified the source of the flood. It was Glacial Lake Missoula, in addition to a slowly melting glacier! ВВ There have been at least five major ice ages in the pass one billion years. The most recent was called the Pleistocene Ice Age, which began about two million years ago. Interglacial periods occurred where temperatures increased slightly and the glaciers would melt and retreat. During the Pinedale glaciation, there were two ice sheets. One of them being the Cordilleran Ice Sheet. The Cordilleran Ice Sheet was comprised of three main lobes. The Puget Lobe, Okanogan Lobe, and the Purcell Trench Lobe. The one lobe in Northern Idaho, near present day Lake Pend Oreille, was the Purcell Trench Lobe. When these sheets of glacial ice moved south they caused an ice dam to occur. J.T. Pardee states that The evidence of icebergs, together with the apparent regency of the lake and the variable height of its surface, connect this lake with the glacial period, and readily lend themselves to the suggestion that its dam was of ice (Pardee, 1910) This ice dam blocked the Clark Fork River which is near the boundary of Idaho and Montana. The water from the river was blocked and began to build up and formed Glacial Lake Missoula. Water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Logical Fallacy Research Paper Logical Fallacy A Logical Fallacy is, generally talking, a mistake of thinking. When somebody receives a position, or tries to influence another person to embrace a position, in light of an awful bit of thinking, they submit a misrepresentation. I say generally talking in light of the fact that this definition has a couple of issues, the most imperative of which are sketched out underneath. Some sensible false notions are more basic than others, thus have been named and characterized. Informal Fallacies Inductive Arguments needn t be as thorough as deductive arguments to be great arguments. Great inductive arguments loan backing to their decisions, yet regardless of the fact that their premises are genuine then that doesn t create with 100% conviction that their decisions are valid. Indeed, even a decent inductive argument with genuine premises may have a false conclusion; that the argument is a decent one and that its premises are genuine just creates that its decision is presumably genuine. Every inductive argument, even great ones, are thusly deductively invalid, thus fallacious in the strictest sense. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Logical and Factual Errors Arguments comprise of premises, derivations, and conclusions. • 9. Symbolism In The Masque Of The Red Death The Secrets of Stories Where there is fright and fear, there is confusion and consequences. In The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, a pestilence, Red Death, is roaming free. Prince Prospero and the other nobles decided to block out the disease by staying in the prince s palace and have a masquerade ball. No one is allowed in or out, but everyone is struck with terror knowing that death is coming sometime. The short story was crafted with care, so the literary elements contribute to the picture created at the end. Irony and symbolism leave the largest footprint on Poe s literature, especially The Masque of the Red Death. When the components of symbolism and irony bond together, fiction becomes reality by conveying the message that the amount of money and protection are false impressions when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like after several months of staying in the palace, Poe mentions ...the brazen lungs of the clock a sound which was clear and loud...but of so peculiar a note and emphasis that at each lapse of an hour, the musicians...were constrained to pause... (4). In this quote, the clock is a meaningful object and represents the abstract idea of time the nobles have left before their last breath. The pause is what indicates the fear and significance; this illustrates they know their money and the walls enclosing them are not enough to avoid the spreading sickness. Symbolism is also another route writers take when trying to express personal thoughts or opinions towards the story, ideas presented, or the moral as well. Poe seems to have dark approaches to many of his stories, which displays a powerful dislike towards the end of life. The puzzle pieces fit together due to the fact that Edgar Allan Poe dealt with pain, suffrage, and many losses during his lifetime. For example, the Red Death, the disease, is a representation of tuberculosis. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Middle Ages Narrative Essay Day 1 Ok. So today, I woke up on a bed, almost falling down. For a moment, I thought where I was, and remembered that I have traveled back in time to the Middle Ages. I didn t know why I was on a bed, or how. Soon after I have done dressing up, I noticed that there was a little girl right next to the door, peeking in the room. Her sister came into the room, and told me that she found me on this street that people usually don t go. She gave me a bread to eat, while I observe the room. After eating the bread, I asked if I could see their mother. And this was the most surprising. The girl told me that SHE was the mother! I couldn t believe what I ve heard, so I asked her again. Same answer. She told me that it was normal to marry early and give birth early. I asked her age, and answered 14. Oh god. I m 17. She s younger than me and is already married. And given birth. And she said it s normal. I guess medieval girls are so early on stuff. Well the rest of the day was peaceful. Emily was the mother s name and she told me that if I could help them with chores, I could stay. What a nice mom! So, I helped her clean the room up. I also noticed something else. It s normal to eat, sleep, and do other stuff in one room, since there s not enough room. Day 2 Today, I went shopping with Emily to buy food. I noticed a few things while going to the market. I saw this crowd of people looking at something. I peeked in and looked at it. It was awful! Emily told me that they were punishing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One the one hand, the fertility of the industry opened the doors to corporations that sighted substantial growth potential. New entrants with big pockets such as Walmart could pose a certain threat to Netflix, by exploiting a playing card based on cost reduction. On the other hand, barriers to entry became relatively significant as established video rental retailers such as Netflix have the experience and the knowhow to market movies to people. In this industry, firms that do not have a technological advantage can t compete. The best example is Netflix s CineMatch program that offered personalized film recommendations based on customer s rental patterns. This way, Netflix was able to better serve its subscribers. From a cost perspective, the movie rental industry requires high capital expenditures, and the major expenses are highly related to acquisitions of DVD library and investments in technology (exhibit 2 continued). Thus, we may say that entry is difficult in this industry as the competing firms have reputation, experience and recognizable brand names. b) Bargaining power of suppliers To offer a wide selection of DVDs for its consumers, Netflix worked with more than 50 studios and distributors. The American dream in simple terms is the fulfillment of the ideals the America was founded on with equal respect. Captain Americas patriotism doesn t hinge on blind passion of one s country right or wrong or on the us versus them mentality produced during war times. These types of patriotisms prevent the betterment of the world at large. These exclusionary patriotisms neglect the dignity of other peoples and creates the illusion that anyone who thinks differently belongs to the them party. Instead, Cap s patriotism lies of Stephen Nathanson s philosophic moderate patriotism, which balances devotion to one s country with ethical demands to care for all (White 147). Captain America embraces the shared humanity of people across national borders. He would strongly support Nathanson s claim that so long as devotion to one s country do not lead to immoral actions, then patriotism can be laudable. Abstract (In progress) Isotopic profiles of mollusks provide insight to the biology of fossil and living specimen and the conditions under which they live in. Isotopic profiles record seasonal variance in temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen concentrations and can provide evidence of changes in bio mineralization in correlation with seasonality and ontology. The shells of Tridacnaare beneficial for Pleistocene paleoceanography isotopic studies because of their large size making it easier to gain detailed samples of shell carbonate. The density of the shell better preserves original carbonate of the shell. The nominal interest rate, which refers to the price before adjustment to inflation, is the one visible to the consumer (i.e., the interest tagged in a loan contract, credit card statement, etc). Nominal interest is composed by the real interest rate plus inflation, among other factors. A simple formula for the nominal interest is: i = r + ПЂ Where i is the nominal interest, r is the real interest and ПЂ is inflation. Almost everyone can remember some aspect of his or her childhood experiences, pleasant and unpleasant alike. Theodore Roethke s poem My Papa s Waltz suggests even further that this concept could be true. The dance described in this poem illustrates an interaction between father and child that contains more than the expected joyous, loving attitude between the two characters. This stanza also provides the reader with the feeling of how aggressive this dance may be. Roethke is apparently referring to his father s belt buckle in the last line of the third stanza. During an aggressive act such as this, a small child would experience pain from such a man s belt buckle scraping across his ear in this fashion, yet the child refrains from any type of resistance. Perhaps this is caused by the child s fear that his father will become angry, so the child simply endures the pain and tries to enjoy the moment, for he may also feel love and attention that he may not receive regularly from his father. Bridges 3 John J. McKenna offers us further suggestions about the feelings suggested in this poem. In McKenna s article, two of the holograph manuscripts to My Papa s Waltz are discussed. McKenna implies that the changes made between these manuscripts are further evidence that this poem shows mixed emotions through the tone that Roethke utilizes. These holograph manuscripts are labeled MS A and MS B at the University of Washington where they are contained in the archives. The first of these changes discussed in McKenna s article is the gender of the child in the poem. If Possible, Move Your Bed Away from Walls or Furniture This tip is not always possible for every homeowner as some are living in a small space. So, depending on the size of your room, you can opt to position your bed away from the wall or the furniture. If you can also put it away from anything that touches the bed, it would be much better. The reason is simple: these walls or furniture linked to the bed is giving bed bugs a way to cross and reach your bed while you are sleeping, which of course spells nightmares. You can keep the bed at least one foot away. Also, bed bugs are not really capable of jumping from the wall to your bed. So, even if the gap is just one inch, it would also be okay as long as your bed covers do not also touch the furniture or wall around the bed. 4. Don t Let the Bed Cover Touch the Floor or ... After an ongoing debate, the war sparked due to opposing beliefs such as how much power the states held compared to the federal government, westward expansion, and opinions of slavery. Corporal punishment is an infliction of pain as punishment for unacceptable behavior, an offense, or wrongdoing. The punishment being administered by the parent or guardian can range in severity from a pop on the back of the hand to a belt or switch to the heinie. Although corporal punishmentis a painful means of punishment, the issue here is whether or not it can be seen as justifiable when it comes to parents choosing to use it as a disciplinary tool at home. Psychologist Elizabeth Thompson Gershoff, PhD, of the National Center for Children in Poverty at Columbia University, looked into the positive and negative behaviors that are associated with corporal punishment. In doing so, she found strong associations between corporal punishment and the eleven child behaviors and experiences. (Gershoff par.3) Those eleven behaviors and experiences include, immediate compliance, moral internalization, quality of relationship with parent, physical abuse from the parent, mental health, aggression, criminal behavior, antisocial behavior, abuse of own children, and abuse of spouse (Gershoff par.2). Ten of those behaviors are negative and the only positive behavior is the immediate compliance from the child. Gershoff states that her findings do not give concrete evidence that all children who have received corporal punishment have turned out to aggressive or a delinquent. Therefore, there are entirely too many factors that come in to play. Because of the way mortgages are structured, a normally amortizing loan has a very small amount of debt pay down at the beginning, but if you do manage to keep the loan in place for a number of years, you ll see that as you get closer to the end of the loan term, more and more of your principle is being used to retire the debt. Of course, all this assumes that you have an amortizing loan in the first place. If you have an interest only loan, your payments will be lower, but you won t benefit from any loan pay down. if you are planning to hold the property for 5 7 years or less, it makes sense to look at an interest only loan, since the debt pay down you d accrue during this time is minimal, and it can help your cash flow to have an interest only loan, as long as interest rate adjustments upward don t increase your payments sooner than you were expecting and ruin your cash flow. If you plan to hold onto the property long term, and/or you have a great interest rate, it makes sense to get an accruing loan that will eventually reduce the balance of your investment loan and make it go away. Some ceramics are used in orthopaedic applications such as bone repair, bone augmentation and joint replacement but their use in this field is not as extensive or widespread as metals and polymers because ceramics have poor fracture toughness. This severely limits the use of ceramics in load bearing applications (Davis, 2003). Ceramics have high hardness and wear resistance, making them suitable for applications such as the articulating surfaces in joints and bone bonding surfaces in implants. However, being a ceramic, pyrolytic carbon is brittle and therefore once a crack has initiated, it will propagate through the material which will inevitably cause the mechanical heart valve to fail which will lead to dangerous consequences such as the death of the patient. This is highly unlikely to occur though because the increased ductility of pyrolytic carbon would make it difficult for crack initiation to occur in the first place. Along with the mechanical tests, biological tests have also shown that pyrolytic carbon also had less platelet aggregation and therefore lower risk of blood clotting occurring than other materials that were tested like titanium alloys, polycrystalline diamond. This proved that pyrolytic carbon is highly biocompatible and therefore suitable for this application as well as being safe within the body (Davis, 2003; Snyder and Helmus, 2004; Ritchie, 1996). As biomaterials, metals are normally used for load bearing applications such as pins and plates for bone fixation devices, femoral stems for hip replacement prosthetic devices. They have also been widely used in dentistry as part of orthodontic devices as well as pins for anchoring tooth implants. Hundreds of people feel mad about the photograph because Carter only used the girl to take photograph, and left her away. • 37. Analysis Of Nietzsche s Full Fathom Five Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that aren t necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks of orange. In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to have been spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the paintingdoes not display calculation or a lot of logic. Instead, his creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make sense of such an unreasonable painting? The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche introduces to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of Tragedy. To be specific,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under such an intoxicating force, Pollock did not think to create symmetrical lines or clear cut images. We see this throughout the contrasting paint splatters on the canvas. This intoxicating force also influences his artistic vision. For example, in Full Fathom five Pollock frees himself of the rules a figurative painter, or Apollonian artist, would follow. An Apollonian artist following the rules of the force of the line and image would include symmetry and/or logic in their artwork. These rules also include creating distinguishable figures for people to view. The idea that an Apollonian artist would create clear images is presented when Nietzsche tells reader to ...imagine how, through Apollonian dream inspiration, his own state, i.e., his oneness with the inmost ground of the world, is revealed to him in a symbolical dream image (Cahn and Meskin 224). In this quote, Nietzsche refers to the Apollonian artist as an artist who sees the world in symbolical images and then goes on to create them. Likewise, the Apollonian artist creates works of images and does not give us any sense of intoxication or ambiguity. In this way, Nietzsche would say that Pollock unleashed himself from any boundaries given to an artist following the Apollonian rules of art. The outcome of this dissociation is a Dionysian influenced painting displaying expressive paint splatters placed in unique patterns. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If Goldman Sachs went public and allowed the Partners to retain 56% stake, employees receive 24%, and divide the last portion of shares to the public based upon their capital expenditures needs. This would not only provide them with the capital needs to proceed with its global operations and strategic operations but it will also mitigate the risk of losing control of the company. In the movie Fist of Furydirected by Lo Wei, an almost six minutes fake fighting scene consisted of main character Chen Chen fighting twenty evil Japanese makes many audiences wonder the necessity of this part of the movie. These days, unlike those acted out fighting scenes in movies, the real fight like the century match between Mayweather and Conor McGregor tends to draw more interest from people. Through our personality, characteristics, amongst other attributes, there are many descriptions that make us similar to one another. Because of these descriptions and attributes, there are many reasons as to why I am similar to Garfield. First, a similarity that Garfield and I have in common is that we are both lazy.
