Alternative Sources Of Alternative Energy
Introduction Since the industrial age, fossil fuels have been used as a source of energy and power.
The fossil fuels are used and converted into coal, oils, and gasses. The products of fossil fuels are
mostly Carbon, which is harmful to the environment, leading to global warming and climate
change, and O zone destruction. These conditions cause global temperature increase, ocean
acidification, rising sea levels, health problems due to pollution, and the destruction of ecosystems
(climate.nasa.gov). Considering these issues, alternative energysources are something that can be
used to help combat harmful fossil fuels and lessen humanity s Carbon footprint (the amount of
carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a
person, group, etc.). There are multiple alternative and renewable energy sources available on
the market today. Some of these include: solar panels, geothermal systems, and wind turbines;
However, another alternative energy source could be harvesting lightning. Unlike the previous
alternative energy sources, lightning can produce large amounts of power in a single strike. A
single lightning bolt carries enough energy comparable to the energy stored in 145 liters of
petrol (Malavika1, Vishal, p. 23). The lightning does not have to be built or mass produced, only
the system used to harvest it. Harvesting the power of lightning would allow for a decrease on the
reliance of fossil fuels for power as well as help solve

Hollow Men Analysis
The Real Life (A Discussion on Three Messages in T.S. Eliot s Hollow Men) T.S Eliot was the
most famous English poet of his time, and he was one of the most influential poet. His
distinctive style of writing took the attention of not only other poets, but many people all over
the world. Thomas Stearns Eliot is best known as a poet and literary critic (he received the
Nobel Prize for literature in 1948), but his work in social and cultural theory has also been widely
influential (Edwards). T.S. Eliot s style of writing was mostly a pessimistic view on life. One of
the best examples of his pessimistic view on life comes from his work The Hollow Men. The

The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot expresses the message of modern life doesn t appreciate faith. T.S.
Eliot came to the conclusion that people of the modern generation have lost their faith that
people once had. Eliot was nothing if not a seeker: seeking to reconcile the culture he saw with
what he hoped it to be; seeking to reconcile an inner despair with a parallel want of faith
(Dobrinska). In The Hollow Men Eliot describes how people don t put religion above all things
important anymore. He explains we shifted to craving liberation not religion. At the end of the
poem, eliot tries to recite God s words but is unable because the modern world no longer knows
them. For thine is, life is, for thine is the (91). Eliot ends the poem with these words to really hit
hard the point that religion is falling apart, and the modern world no longer believes in the idea.
T.S. Eliot s last message in his literary work The Hollow Men is that the modern world lack
integrity. Eliot explains that the modern world is afraid to meet our ancestors in the other side.
Let me also wear such deliberate disguises (32). The modern world is embarrassed about the
lives we live. The modern era hides their face from the ancestors because our lives are not as
valuable as their lives once were. The modern era doesn t accomplish as much importance as the
times before. It contains the poet s reflection on the subject of human nature in this world, and

The Universal Commercial Code, Banks, and Fraudulent Activity
What happens when a bank accepts a check with a forged endorsement? Who suffers the loss?
Who is liable? Where can these answers be found? Check fraud law is governed by Articles 3 and
4 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). The National Conference of Commissioners on
Uniform State Laws and the American Law Institute created the Uniform Commercial Codein a
joint effort. It took over ten years to originally draft the UCC, and a further fourteen years for the
UCC to be implemented across the country. The creation of the UCC began in 1940 in an effort to
attack major commercial problems with comprehensive legal solutions The UCC allows
commercial organizations to do business across jurisdictional boundaries with confidence because

It seems that the company does not think it feasible to try to recovery their loses from employee,
Lisa Leslie, and therefore goes after the bank for allowing her to steal from them. Is the bank at
fault? Does the bank have an obligation to their customers to protect them from fraudulent activity?
In short, yes. Customers trust banks to do just that.
In this case, the bank did what it was supposed to do. The court held that a corporate resolution
given to the bank and a signature card gave the officer authority to endorse checks for deposit to the
account, and to draft checks from the account, so the bank was not liable for conversion. These
documents were unambiguous. The resolution and signature card clearly let the officer act for the
company regarding the account, including withdrawing money and endorsing checks for deposit.
The fact that she was not specifically designated as an officer in the resolution was irrelevant. Her
acts did not violate the authority the resolution gave her, and whether she violated company policy
related to her abuse of authority, not a lack of authority. The bank was not liable for such abuse.
Given her authority, nothing put the bank on notice of her illegal activity, so the

Iron Curtain Speech Research Paper
The Cold War was the state of tension between democratic nations and the communist Soviet Union.
There were two opposing groups in the group. The United States and their allies formed NATO
(North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the Soviet Union and their allies formed the Warsaw Pact.
The NATO was formed to stop the progression of communism throughout countries and the Warsaw
Pact wanted to take over countries to spread communism. The Cold Warlasted from 1945 to 1992.

Before the First World War, German scientists James Franck and Gustav Hertz conducted
experiments where they added electrons to Mercury atoms. They traced the energy changes that the
collision caused. That experiment led Nils Bohr to make a theory that an atom can absorb energy in
precise and definite amounts. After that experiment, many other scientists conducted research on
radioactive methods to chemical problems and conducted more experiments on how elements

Churchill using the term Iron Curtain was iconic. The term became a part of the vocabulary used
when talking about Cold War. The speech was used to confirm the relationship with Britain and the
United States (forming an alliance). The speech was a warning of the danger that was the Soviet
Union and Communism. By giving the speech let the public know the dangers of the Soviet Union.
I think the Iron Curtain Speech speech was really interesting. I found myself to get lost while
watching the video of the speech as I was getting information about the topic. I think it was
important for the speech to be given. I don t have any other solution for the speech because it didn
t affect anyone in a negative way (unlike the A Bomb). Overall, I enjoyed reading about the topic
and how it set the beginning of the Cold War.

Invasive Fungal Diseases
Opportunistic invasive fungal diseases are a continuous threat to the immune compromised host
and result in high morbidity and mortality rates. Most of the invasive fungal diseases are caused by
Candida and Aspergillus species, however, other pathogens such as Scedosporium and Fusarium
species may be encountered.(1) The number of antifungal agents available for treating invasive
fungal infections has grown in recent years and now includes mainly three classes of drugs, namely
the polyene group which includes amphotericin B, the azoles, and the echinocandins, each of which
has a specific profile with respect to antifungal activity and toxicity. Therapeutic drug monitoring

Multiple factors have been found to be associated with a large variability in voriconazole exposure
following standard dose administration, such as nonlinear saturable pharmacokinetics, patient age
(in particular, with respect to children), liver disease, drug drug interactions, and genetic
polymorphism of the cytochrome CYP2C19.(5) In experimental candidiasis, the ratio of
voriconazole peak concentration and the 24 h area under the curve over the MIC have been
identified as the best pharmacodynamic predictors of treatment success. In contrast, no
experimental data are available regarding the pharmacodynamics of voriconazole for the treatment
of aspergillosis or other mycoses. Recently, experts have suggested that voriconazole trough blood
levels should be measured after 1 week of therapy for dose adjustment to target values of 1 5.5 mg
/L.(6 8) However, the utility of such measurements remains debatable, given that multiple
confounding factors may influence the outcome of infection and the assessment of tolerance in
severely ill patients. This uncertainty highlights the need for additional drug exposure related
efficacy and safety data in patients treated with voriconazole. The objective of the present
observational study is to assess the utility of voriconazole therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM).(5,

Of Gods And Romans Essay
Of Gods and Romans
The Romans during the time of their Republic relied on their advanced technology, social structure,
leadership and politics to achieve as much as they did. To these people, their gods affected all of
these factors and the relationships mankind had with them. The contractual relationship between
mankind and the gods involved each party in giving, and in return receiving services. The Romans
believed that spirits residing in natural and physical objects had the power to control the processes
of nature, and that man could influence these processes by symbolic action. The first is a primitive
form of religious creed; the second a type of magic.
The services by which the Romans hoped to influence the forces that guided ... Show more content

Any unintentional deviation from the prescribed ritual meant not only a new sacrifice, but also an
additional one to absolve the error. In high occasions, on which a replay of the entire ceremony
might be an embarrassment, a sacrifice was performed as a matter of course on the pervious day,
to cover for any potential errors during the main ceremony. Multiple sacrifices were commonplace:
the word hecatomb, which derives from the Greek, means the sacrifice of a hundred head of oxen.
There was a distinction between signs that were solicited and those that appeared without
invitation. At many times, an individual would see an omen that gave him/her confidence to
continue a current course of action (52) other incidences produced warnings to change one s
itinerary (55, 74 75). The more startling or unexpected the sign, for instance a sudden flash of
lightning or an epileptic fit on the part of a member of an assembly, the more seriously it was
taken. It was not unknown for an interested party to throw a feigned fit in order to obstruct
proceedings. Lightning which appeared while auspices were being taken was good news, but not
so if it came otherwise. Certain omens such as scorpions fighting (55), sacrificing an animal that
does not appear to have a heart (303), or bizarre natural occurrences (74 75) were signs of disaster.
The gods also produced omens through the actions of men. When a child

Humor of South Park Essay
Manbearpig: Half Man, Half Bear, Half Pig, but All Global Warming? South Park is a popular
animated comedy series written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. While the episodes of South
Park are always humorous on the surface, each show usually has a deeper, much more profound
meaning and moral. One episode of South Park entitled Manbearpig, named after the monster in
the episode, has a particularly potent deeper meaning. On the surface, the episode pokes fun at
monster stories, politics, and specifically Al Gore. Deeper down, however, this monster story can
be read as a national allegory alluding to the dangers of global warming, the problems with the
politics behind global warming, and the eventual doom we will all face if we do nothing... Show

Al Gore tells the student body that he is there to warn them about the single biggest threat to
human existence, a horrible monster named Manbearpig. Al Gore further goes on to describe the
monster s appearance. He states that Manbearpig is half man, half bear, and half pig (South
Park). This pokes fun at the typical monster in literature. The impossible ratio of man, bear, and
pig shows how monsters can be considered scary regardless of how ridiculous they may actually
be when analyzed literally. While Manbearpig is not necessarily intended to be scary to the
audience of South Park, it is intended to be scary to the students by Al Gore. In fact, the attributes
of Manbearpig are similar to those of many different monsters throughout literature. Manbearpig is a
creature that is a mixture of man and animal. This is a characteristic attributable to many monsters
in literature. For example, the werewolf addresses this same fear about crossing line between man

Liberty impacts two main areas of political thought; the state of nature and the social contract.

must be taken into account and explored; the definitions of liberty and freedom, Isaiah Berlin s

Once rulers cease to protect the ruled, the social contract is broken and the governed are free to
choose another set of governors or magistrates. Rousseau believed that the only reason human
beings were willing to give up individual freedom and be ruled by others was that they saw that
their rights, happiness, and property would be better protected under a formal government rather
than an anarchist or every person for themselves type of society. Rousseau noted that Each of us
puts his person and all his power in common under the supreme direction of the general will, and,
in our corporate capacity, we receive each member as an indivisible part of the whole. At once, in
place of the individual personality of each contracting party, this act of association creates a moral
and collective body, composed of as many members as the assembly contains voters, and receiving
from this act its unity, its common identity, its life, and its will. Rousseau claimed in The Social
Contract that this contract between rulers and the ruled should be rethought therefore rather than

In the corporate setting, capitalism plays an important role in the sense that it helps ensure that the
decisions made by leaders, such as the CEOs, take into consideration the company s or stockholders
interest in gaining profit (PeГ±aloza Barnhart, 2011). This implies that it compels business leaders
to make decisions that minimize loses while increasing the profitability of the firm. In most
occasions, this is accomplished through the application of the utilitarian and Kantian approach to
decision making. However, it s important to note that the central implication of public capitalism is
that of helping foster corporate decision making based on the broader effort to promote the public

Author Background
According to Franklin Walker, the well known American author of such beloved titles as The
Call of the Wild, White Fang, and The Sea Wolf, was born on January 12, 1876 in San Francisco,
California. He spent much of his childhood on ranches and the streets of Oakland, as well as
sailing on San Francisco Bay. During his teenage years, London fell into strange and unfulfilling
jobs that led to a personal revelation about the importance of an education. London spent a few
months educating himself on both high school and college material, but when word of
discovered gold in the Klondike spread, London, at the age of twenty one, left his home to
participate in the hunt for treasure. He published a short story collection called The Son of the
Wolf in 1900 and three years later his novel The Call of the Wild awarded him new fame and
notoriety. After a successful career as a writer, London died in 1916 at the age of forty (Walker 1).
Synopsis
The Sea Wolf follows the adventure of Humphrey Van Weyden, a literary critic and essay writer
who has never known any real hardship or physical challenge. At the start of the novel, Van

Cranial Nerves The human body is a unique and fascinating entity. There is not much notice taken
of the features the human body is capable of. The brain is necessary to perform day to day
actions, such as the ability to speak, and see amongst us. This brain is made up of simple mater
(Pia mater, Arachnoid mater, Dura mater) and the cranial surface to protect the brain. We live our
daily lives without acknowledging the importance of this organ, the brain, unless you re a medical
student of course! Despite that people go on with their daily activities using the human natural
senses. Looking at the world through the eyes, watching for any danger around us; ears for hearing
the sounds detecting something that may call for danger, the... Show more content on

The second cranial nerve is optic nerve. Optic nerves main function is vision, one of the
important senses of the human body. Allowing oneself to see around them. The cell bodies of
the optic nerve are located in the Retina (ganglion cells). Optic nerve begins with unmyelinated
axons of the rentinal ganglion cells, which later become myelinated in the optic disc. CN II
enters the cranium via the optic canal. The retina has bipolar cells that are connected to the
special sensory fibers (rods and cone cells). When light hits the rod and cone cells, electrical
impulse are relayed and transmitted to the bipolar cells. That is when the bipolar cells transmit
electrical activity to the CNS through the optic nerve. Loosing the sense of vision can be very
detrimental. Some of the dysfunctions that occur with CN II are immediate monocular blindness
(partial or complete), visual field deficits, blurring, scotomata, and monocular diplopia. There can
be many possible causes for these dysfunctions to name a few, immediate loss of vision is due to
injury to optic nerve due to ischemia or death, delayed vision loss is due to infarction of the optic
nerve or less frequently by hematoma surrounding the nerve. Complete monocular blindness is
usually due to non organic disorders. Blurring and scotomata are due to trauma to the cornea,
vitreous tears, traumatically induced

The Oresteia By Sophocles, The Libation Bearers, And The...
Aeschylus Writing Assignment The Oresteia written by the ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus,
who showed three events of the play Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, and The Eumenides. The
three plays were performed at the annual Dionysia festival in Athens in 458 BCE. The play
highlighted different types of themes but the most important one is the theme of justice and
injustice. Both themes were seen in different parts of the play where even the gods played a role
in determining the justice and injustice in the play. Justice is also divided into two types in the play
as human and divine justice. This essay will talk about both justice, and injustice in the play, and
the different parts of justice. In the beginning of The Oresteiait talks about how King Agamemnon
gave his own daughter Iphigeneia as a sacrifice to Artemis so they could continue in proceeding
with the war in Troy. Agamemnon s decision is considered as injustice since he gave his only
daughter so he could enter the war. As the Chorus started the play they highlighted that the fact they
were at war with Troy was justice to them. However, the way Agamemnon led the war was injustice
for the way he sacrificed his daughter for the war. After the return of Agamemnon from the Trojan
Warhe did not only return by himself but he bought Cassandra the princess of Trojan who he had
taken as a concubine for him. Although by the Greeks is considered justice but, it is still injustice
since her land was destroyed she

Reza Shah s Pre-Revolutionary Revolution
Pre revolutionary Iran was very different from revolutionary Iran. During the revolution, Khomeini
held power(). He was a devout religious leader that enforced very strict laws on how the country
should live by bringing religion and government together. Because of this, women were forced to
wear veils and wear long garments to hide their figure. Reza Shah ruled Iranbefore Khomeini and
had entirely different political ideals. He wanted to keep religionand government separate from
each other (). As soon as Reza Shah was inaugurated into power, he seeked to progress Iran by
adopting western ideas and culture (Sarder 1). Throughout his rule, Reza Shah turned Iran into an
urbanized country by making social classes and improving their educational

Vapor Pressure Lab
Volatile liquids are prevalently used in the perfume industry. Because of their evaporative nature,
feasibility is a top concern from both a shipping and manufacturing standpoint. Therefore, it is
necessary to ship the most viable chemicals under specific conditions . This experiment tested the
relationship between vapor pressure and molar mass and the relationship between vapor pressure
and temperatureusing four alcohols (amyl alcohol, ethanol, methanol, and 2 propanol) to assess
whether n hexanol or an alternative alcohol should be used and how the alcohol should be
transported. From the graph trend lines, a negative slope showed that molar mass was inversely
proportional to vapor pressure, and a positive slope showed that temperature was directly
proportional to vapor pressure. It was concluded that n hexanol transported at colder temperatures
would most effectively minimize the alcohol s volatility.

Boiling point is the temperature at which the vapor pressure equals the ambient atmospheric
pressure.2 Therefore, a substance with a lower boiling point is also one with a higher vapor
pressure because it requires less energy to increase for vapor pressure to equal ambient
atmospheric pressure. Another example is that vapor pressure can serve as an effective indicator
of a substance s degree of volatility, a substance s tendency to vaporize.3 Because a substance with
higher vapor pressure has greater tendencies of both evaporation and condensation in equilibrium,
it will also vaporize more readily.4 This, in particular, will be a central

Inside Job 2010 Directed By Charles Ferguson
International business is the most desirable and vital phenomena in today s modern world. Most
individuals know that International Business is the necessity for the prosperity of our world. No
one can prosper without performing business internationally. When learning of how other
countries conduct International Business, a company can expand their market to appeal to
citizens of these places. However, being as close knit as we are to other countries, not everyone
holds the same values. Every business goals is to make profit and if one company acts in an
unethical matter, that will create a downfall domino effect. This statement holds truth for the result
of the financial/banking crisis that occurred in 2008 because of many errors that were made
unethically and eventually affected many other countries around the world and their living
conditions. The documentary Inside Job 2010 directed by Charles Ferguson is without a doubt a
very effective film documentary. It did an outstanding job of giving more insight on the banking
crisis in 2008 and how it created a domino effect leading to global recession. In all honesty, this
film did not shock me at all in terms of how corrupt the financial industry in the United States is.
What I found humorous in this documentary, were the moments throughout the film where most of
the important questions to be answered followed with the next screen that said ____ declined to be

Sexual selection in fish inhabiting great lakes
Sexual selection can best be described by the definition given by Darwin himself. Sexual selection
is the advantage which certain individuals have over other individuals of the same species solely
in respect of reproduction (Hosken et al, 2011). Sexual selection occurs throughout the animal
kingdom, where male frogs dominate through the depth of their croak, and certain peacocks reign
superior based on the colour and intricate detail on their tails. They remain superior to their lesser
counterparts as they bear more admirable characteristics, from which they are chosen by females of
the same species.
Intersexual selection describes one sex (commonly females) choosing male partners for
copulation. Females tend to choose the males based on secondary sexual characteristics.
Intrasexual selection, on the other hand, is competition within the same sex, in the hope of
gaining access to the other sex for reproduction (Eberhard, 1996). It is commonly male species
competing against each other for female partners. These two forms of sexual selection results in
more developed offspring, as the fitter male will out compete other males and also is more likely
to be chosen be

What Does The Spider Symbolize
The poem I have decided to read and analyze is The spider and the Fly by Mary Howitt. The
poem tells a story of a cunning spider that ties to deceive a silly fly through flattery. Howitt uses
many literary devices such as rhyme similes, repetition, alliteration, personification and,
Assonance to tell the story of the spider and the fly. The first four stanzas follow the same rhyme

In the poem the predominant is on of flattery and deception. It tells a story of a cunning spider
enticing a little fly with his tricky words to fall into his trap. Similar how human beings are often
influenced by the words of flattery of others. The spider tries deceiving the fly by luring her into
the parlor by showing her pretty things, offering her a comfortable bed and good things to eat.
When the spider fails at tempting the fly with those, the spider then uses his strongest weapon,
fake flattery. This is how he eventually traps the fly at the end. Although the fly repeatedly
states that he does not intend to enter because he has heard tales of victims who were subjected
to his evilness and cruelty. The spider continues to give false praises, he is confident he will

beauty by giving her a looking glass so that she can appreciate her own beauty. He starts to
convince the fly and her vanity ultimately does her in. The poet is warning people not to pay

Abstract
The F 35 Lightning II is a 5th generation fighter manufactured by Lockheed Martin, Northrop
Grumman, and BAE Systems. Production began in 2006 in Fort Worth Texas and its first flight
was conducted in 2011. Jon Beesley was the first test pilot for the F 35. It has air to air, air to
ground, intelligence, surveillance, and recon abilities. The F 35 is second only to the F 22 Raptor
but is superior in air to ground combat. The engine is a Pratt and Whitney 135 and has a Rolls
Royce Lift System. There are three variants of the F 35: conventional takeoff and landing
(CTOL), a short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL), and an aircraft carrier version (CV). It has
advanced electrical systems used to track the enemy and share information with other systems. A
high angle of attack is used for better maneuverability in combat and to aid the aircraft in turning
at 9 Gs. The F 35 was designed to be lethal and to give pilots the first shot/first kill advantage.
Introduction to the F 35 The F 35 Lightning II is a 5th Generation fighter, combining advanced
stealth with fighter speed and agility, fully fused sensor information, network enabled operations
and advanced sustainment (f35.com, jsf.mil). The F 35 was created to defeat threat systems on the

The Fenian Movement Essay
The Fenian Movement
Fenian Movement, which was organized 1858, started as a secret revolutionary society in Ireland
and the United States. This movement was created in the honor of the Fianna, known as the ancient
Irish warriors. Fenians wanted to achieve Irish Independence from England by force. This
movement was also known as the Fenian Brotherhood, Fenian Society, Irish Republican
Brotherhood, and Irish American Brotherhood. The Fenians also had a very strong military force
located in Ireland. The reason for a strong army in the society was to gain independence from
England. This movement was led by James Stephens from 1825 to 1901. He founded the party, the

This situation helped to the irritation and anger of the Irish people creating a tense atmosphere

fighting for the Irish Independence like many other people in this era. One of the causes for this
terrible events was that Mitchel had been imprisoned in Dublin s Newgate on 13 May, charged
under the new Act, and was tried on 25 May. He was convicted and sentenced to 14 years
transportation (D Arcy 69). Then his friends helped him escape prison to Spike Islands. Then he
regained the confidence to appear in front of the magistrate were he said to them: I have come to
tell you that I will no longer be a prisoner on parole, I take back my word (D Arcy 71). Before the
magistrate got the chance to arrest Mitchel, he escaped. As Mitchel there are many important
figures that are disappointed, because they didn t have the opportunity to express themselves and
make a difference fighting for the Irish Independence. Dublin was a place in which things don t
seem to get better. It is compared to a place in which people can escape their destiny.

collective society is made up of. But in the developing country like ours where business is yet to

Ancient Athenian Democracy Is Not A Democracy
Democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all eligible members of a state,
typically through elected representatives. These members have the rights to vote, have well paying
jobs, and be able to serve their country during a war. However, in ancient Athens only a very small
population of citizens had the rights to do these things. In ancient Athens, the Athenian government
was not truly Democratic because only a little population of citizens could vote, the city can decide
whether or not you have the right to be a citizen, and only a few citizens had the full amount of
rights. In ancient Athen their total population was 240,775, also in ancient Athens, the total number
people allowed to vote is only 29,900. That is only 12% of the total population, this means that
88% of the total population does not have the right to vote. In Athens according to Professor Josiah
Ober, the only people allowed to vote are citizen men, everyone else including citizen women,
children of citizens, metics, and slaves did not have to right to vote, (Ober 5). This means the
government in ancient Athens is not a Democracybecause in a Democracy it states that either the
whole population or all eligible members, meaning citizens, of the state can vote or they can elect
representatives to vote. However, in ancient Athens the citizen men were not elected to vote, they
just have the right to vote. This means the government isn t a true Democracy because they didn t

Pros And Disadvantages Of Wiretapping

actually is. Wiretapping is the practice of connecting a listening device to a telephone line to
secretly monitor a conversation. . Now that s the definition that google gave me so I ll try and
explain it in my own words. Basically after the 9/11 terrorist attacks a new law was passed
Called the Patriot Act , Which stated; Section 215 of the USAPATRIOT Act allows the
government to secretly request and obtain library records for large numbers of individuals without
any reason to believe they are involved in illegal activity. In other words it allowed the

beyond comprehension. They re probably listening in on me right know watching me through
my laptop camera. Like any good debate I will talk about both sides i.e for/against. In all honesty
I see this having a higher against margin than for. Like seriously who likes to get spied on?
Weirdos that s who. Let s get started shall we. wiretapping should it be illegal? Why or why not?
The federal power to wiretap, a central issue during the Bush years, has made a comeback. The

Civil Disobedience In The 1960 s
Civil disobedience is not allowed by law, that is why it is done. Not because standing up for a
person s cause is a polite thing to do, not because it is acceptable by law, but because people want
to make a stand. The definition of civil disobedience is as follows: the refusal to comply with
certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest.
Civil disobedience is a protest against the oppression people feel from their government, and
when they feel they have no other route, no other way to get their voices heard, they calmly
gather as a people, and show their government what they feel is wrong. The people who join in the
marches and stand up at the rallies, they know that in the eyes of the law, what they are doing is
wrong. Yet, this people know that in the eyes of morality and justice for the people, what the
government is doing is wrong, so they accept those facts, and accept their punishment.
A great era for civil disobedience in the United States of America, would have to be the 1960 s. It
was a time for figureheads, such as Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr., to sprout up and be
acknowledged by history. Now known as the civil rights movement, people ... Show more content

The Efficacy Of Group Exposure Therapy
Introduction to the Problem Given the high number of service members returning home with
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, from Operation Iraqi Freedom, OIF and Operation
Enduring Freedom, OEF, it has been priority of the Military Health System and Veterans Affairs
to identify and implement effective treatment (This is the military, 2014). Exposure therapy is
the practice of flooding the client with images of their traumatic experience in an effort to
desensitize them, and help control and reduce their anxiety (DiMaurio, 2014). This essay will
discuss the efficacy of group exposure therapy when administered to patients with PTSD,
specifically OIF and OEF veterans and service members. The outcome in successful studies will
result in a decrease in PTSD symptoms. The applicability of the results and implementation of
the treatment in alternate settings will also be discussed. Literature Synthesis
ParticipantsMethodology Two studies analyzed the efficacy of group based exposure therapy.
Ready et al. (2012) held three groups of ten participants with primarily war related induced
PTSD. (Ready et al., 2012). Castillo et al. (2012) study treated 77 woman veterans with primarily
sexual abuse related PTSD. All patients were selected from local VA clinics in the southern United

Natasha Preston used indirect characterization to reveal her characters. We know indirect

The present value of all these cash inflows and outflows can be calculated by discounting them at
12.19%. This rate is calculated by assuming that the purchasing power parity holds in this
scenario. The company can do the feasibility analysis by looking at both from the subsidiary s
and parent s perspective by assuming that the purchasing power parity holds. Hence, this rate
can be regarded as opportunity cost of investment because it is the second best alternative for the
company for investment purposes. So, the NPV can be calculated by taking the sum of present
values of all the cash flows. This NPV comes out to be 3,703,176 Pesos. This NPV value can be
converted into Euros by dividing the NPV value by the spot exchange rate. The spot exchange
rate is 15.99 MXN/EURO. Hence, by dividing 3,703,176 by 15.99, NPV value in terms of Euro
comes out to be 231,593 Euros. Compute the NPV in €s by translating future peso cash flows
into €s at expected future spot rates. Note Ariel s € hurdle rate for this asset class was 8%.
Annual inflation rates are expected to be 7% in Mexico and 3% in France. NPV calculated for
this scenario comes out to be 231,507 Euros. The first thing required for calculating NPV in Euro
is the forward premium. It is calculated by adding 1 to the inflation rates of France and Mexico
respectively, and then by taking their ratio. This ratio comes out to be 1.0388. This ratio is then

This project helped their company grow tremendously and their numbers can show it. Dollar
General is committed to four key operating priorities: 1) driving productive sales growth, 2)
increasing gross margin, 3) leveraging process improvements and information technology to
reduce costs and 4) expanding our culture to serve others. In 2011, they recorded record sales,
operating profit, net income, and cash flows from operations (Dollar General, 2012). Looking at
the analysis and their overall numbers, Dollar General had a great year and I believe this is
from their 2011 expansion plan. Their net sales was up to $14.8 B in 2011 from $13 B in 2010.
They had a same store sales growth of 6% in 2011 from 4.9% in 2010. Their ending store count
in 2011 ended up at 9,937 compared to what they had in 2010 with 9,372 stores. They actually
surpassed their goal of 550 stores with adding an extra 15 stores. Another fact is they had a sales
per square feet at $213 compared to 2010 which was $201 (Dollar General, 2012). For the actual
results, I believe that they accomplished their 2011 expansion project. They set their goals of
adding more stores, which they even made extra stores, renovating those older stores that needed
work and they added employees. Enduring all these costs, Dollar General made a profit from this
whole project and I believe it will help towards their future plans. Dollar General is a great
example if someone or an organization is trying to expand their business. Dollar General molded
the steps it takes to implement the process, put the right programs in place, view the budget and

Cultural Impact On Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was one of the most devastating natural disasters on record in the United States
(Skinner, 2006) In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall along the Gulf Coast
destroying buildings, homes and communities (Skinner, 2006). Storm surges and levee failures
resulted in an estimated $108 billion in physical property damage, specifically in the areas of
Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama (Skinner, 2006). Furthermore, Katrina proved itself to be one
of the deadliest disasters in U.S. history as it claimed the lives of more than 1,800 people (Skinner,

The impact of natural disasters is often discussed in the context of physical destruction, economic or
financial consequences, or loss of human lives. While all of these factors are certainly important in
gaining a complete understanding of the devastation caused by natural disasters, the psychological
impact these traumatic events have on survivors is often overlooked. Likewise, it is essential to
consider the impact that local culture impact the government s response to disasters such as
Hurricane Katrina in order to understand why black residents reported higher incidences of
psychological distress than any other racial group. The areas most profoundly impacted by
Hurricane Katrina have a history rooted deeply in racial discrimination and segregation (Chia Chen
Chen, Keith, Airriess, Leong, 2007). Understanding this cultural history is essential in gaining a

The Parthian Battery
The use of electricity may go back further known as the Parthian Battery. The battery dates back
to the Parthian empire and is believed to be 2,000 years old. However, the battery is known from
its creator Alessandro Volta (a chemist and physicist and pioneer of electrical science). Volta is
known for voltaic electricity (same as volts) and for many other things. The basic property of a
battery is that two objects work as electrodes, causing an electrochemical reaction which generates
voltage.

Do you see alternatives or better materials that can be used? How might this object look like in
future (in a material perspective)?
A battery generates electricity, or a current of electrons through a conductive path and there is a
buildup of electrons through a chemical reaction in the battery. Batteries can be stored for a long
time and still work because the chemical process doesn t start until the electrons flow from the
negative to the positive terminals through a circuit. Volta discovered in 1800 that certain fluids
would generate a continuous flow of electrical power when used as a conductor. This discovery led
to the invention of the first voltaic cell, more commonly known as battery.
9] Write a short biographical history of one of the inventors involved in the development of that
object or device or material. The battery is a device that converts chemical energy into electricity.
Like most important inventions, this device has many different versions originating from the 19th
century

The Apostle Research Paper
The original term apostle usually refers to the twelve men that Jesus called to carry the gospel to
spread the gospel to the world. These men traveled with Jesus during His earthly ministry. The
original twelve apostles were sent out to preach and teach as apostles (Orr 2). They also saw the
crucifixion and the resurrection. Jesuscalled His first two disciples by the Sea of Galilee. Peter and
his brother Andrew were both fishermen. In Matthew 4:19 Jesus said Follow me and I will
make you fishers of men (NKJV). He also called James and John who were the sons of Zebedee.
Then after passing a tax office, He saw a man named Matthew. He asked Matthew to follow Him.
These people are the apostles of Jesus: Simon Peter, James, John, Andrew, Philip of Bethsaida,
Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James, Simon (the Zealot), Judas, and Thaddaeus. Peter was the
disciple that Jesus chose to build His church. Peter ministered in Jerusalem but went to Judea when
the persecution began. The apostle John ministered with Peter in Jerusalem. When the persecution
began he went to Turkey and later Rome. He was arrested by the Emperor Domitian and was
banished to the island of Patmos, where he wrote the book of Revelations. Judas Iscariot was one
of the original twelve apostles. He betrayed Christ, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Breaking Bad Research Papers
I have developed an endless runner game for smartphones and tablets based on the hit television
show, Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad tells the story of Walter White, an ordinary chemistry teacher
who finds out that he has cancer and Jesse Pinkman, a local street gangster who befriends Walter.
Both Walter and Jesse decides to produce methamphetamine in order for Walter to pay for his
medical bills and support his family. With the added advantage of Walter s knowledge in
chemistry, their product takes off and they both turn to a life of crime and encounter dangerous
events that changes their lives forever. They come across various psychopaths. A mad drug lord
named Tuco Salamanca, a no nonsense authoritarian like meth distributor called Gustavo Fring and
a white supremacist gang. As Walter White gets into various criminal activities, he puts his life and
his family s life in danger.
My concept for the game is a platform based endless runner for smartphones and tablets, not to be
confused for an endless runner in the third person perspective. The game will have the two main
characters playable at the start, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. As one progresses in game,
they will be able to unlock other characters such as Walter s brother in law Hank, Gustavo Fring,
the iconic RV from the show, Heisenberg (Walt s clandestine alias) and Saul Goodman, their
lawyer who uses unorthodox ways to get Walt and Jesse out of legal trouble. The reason I decided
to make only two playable

The Development Of Bilingual Literacy Practices
During Phase 2, Moore and MacDonald focused their research on this research question: How is
Halq emГ©ylem being revitalized within a British Columbia Aboriginal Head Start program where
Aboriginal teachers of the language are not themselves fluent in the language of instruction? In
order to answer this question, the researchers performed a series of observations and video
recording over a period of one year. This observations took place during various community events.
The discussion of the findings develops through a framework to understand the development of
bilingual literacy practices in a minoritized context. The authors found a blend of traditional
Aboriginal practices with contemporary teaching methodology. Elders and parents re appropriate
their own ancestral language, and reshaped the language classroom into a multilingual space for
learning. Particular literacy practices were found in the StГі:lЕЌ Head Start program where Halq
emГ©ylem was taught by reading and attending the writing code while signing. These practices
were enforced by aiming the parents to reinforce Halq emГ©ylem language and literacy practices at
home. The authors conclude by stating the importance of this study by challenging the existing
hierarchies of knowledge and knowledge creation through multiple languages wherever they occur
and suggests directions in which we might understand and make use of languages and multiple
literacies as powerful resources for further learning and as ways to

Labor And Labor Unions 1800-1900

Midterm
(The Importance of Labor and Labor unions 1800 1900) Prior to the American Civil War in 1861
much of American workforce was completed by slaves brought from Africa. Slave laborwas used
mostly in southern agriculture. Working conditions for slaves were dismal at best with
inadequate housing, lack of food, resources and broken families. The quality of life for slaves
was seldom taken into account by slave owners as slaves were seen as property rather than people
or employees. After the Unions victory however the newly freed slaves desired to live on their
own on their own land and work for themselves. In January 1865 General William T. Sherman...

This was done under contract and both white and black land owners that participated in this form
of labor. The establishment of labor unions by this point was not a new idea however their impact
on social change from this point forward made the most significant changes. In 1869, a labor union
known as the Knights of Labor sought to defend the common worker from poor compensation and
to improve working conditions for the working class. The idea was to literally hold the employer s
hostage by going on strike under protest until their demands had been met. During the 2nd
industrial revolution brought about an enormous surge in jobs in manufacturing and farming. This
uptick in production in all sectors and the lack of an income tax made many leaders in business
extremely wealthy. Workers believed that the distribution of the wealth was not fair and demanded
they receive their fair share. Though the wage disparity was high finding economic security and
peace for workers remain a fact of life to the present day. The change that labor unions bring
have brought about safer working conditions and wage increases however they have also had an
even greater effect on social issues. Labor unions played a significant role in government early on

Marketing Planning Models
Assess the practical value of strategic marketing planning models to today s marketing managers.
The four P s are essential for any company wanting to implement the marketing concept,
unfortunately these tools only concern the operational side of an organisation (they identify the
wants and needs of a customer and then present them as a product). If a company wants to succeed
and survive in the future they must focus on marketing planning, this concept concentrates on
where the company currently is both internally and externally and the best way for long term
progression.
Its purpose has been described by McDonald,(1989) as to find a systematic way of identifying a
range of options, to choose one or more of them, then to schedule and ... Show more content on

At this point the product starts to make some of the profit back, it becomes more established and
ales slowly rise over time as the target segment become more aware of what s on offer ( the mac

This leads onto the growth stage, profits rise considerably and the product becomes established,
the competition become aware and analyse the threat posed to them (the new Xbox).
Competitors will try to divert attention away which could effect the rate of the growth curve
(Brassington, F S Pettitt, 2007, p204). As a product reaches maturity (an example would be
coca cola) if a secure fan base has emerged the supplier must now look at keeping them interested.
If a product begins to date or tire a newer, more desirable one must be available. If this is not the
case the product will go into decline, the profits will fall and the marketing or management will be
to blame (the digital free view box).
The BCG Matrix also known as the Boston Box relates well to the product life cycle. It is
comprised of two dimensions, the first looks at the growth of a product in the market and then the
market share.
There are four elements, the dog, this has a low growth and a low share with little chance of
improvement, it either diminishes or moves into the next sector of the matrix the question mark.

Partial-Birth Abortion
Sem 2 DB # 1
In reviewing a woman s right to abortion, I defer to the Eight and Ninth Circuits decision in part,
finding the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act unconstitutional. Here, I dissent the Court s decision
ruling the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act should be sustained. The Act restricting abortion
procedures that are proven to be reasonably safe, without any exceptions to the ban, fails to provide
safeguards for a woman s life or health. It imposes substantial obstacles in her path to choose her
faith and to exercise her reproductive right protected by the Constitution.

In our long history as well as in the modern society, childbearing and motherhood have
undoubtedly held a great weight in most women s lives. We cannot deny that a woman s choice
to bear a child or not would have significant impact on the health and welfare of a woman.
Although it is important that the government s act is intended to protect profound respect for
human life, the Court s decision would allow the federal government to overstep the boundary of
a woman s liberty and discerning decision. The Act would impose an undue burden and
substantial obstacles on a woman s right to abortion. Power to enact a law to promote welfare of
individuals is vested with the state, not Congress, unless otherwise such power is expressly
prohibited by the Constitution. In the present case, the state s power to regulate procedural options
for a legal abortion is not expressly prohibited by the

Similarities Between Frederick Douglass And Robert Carter
Robert Carter, who freed more than 500 slaves in his lifetime, and Frederick Douglass, who
escaped from slavery and wrote books, made newspapers and spoke to large audiences of
Massachusetts abolitionists both fought hard to end slavery in their own different ways. In the
early to middle 1800s slavery was a big problem, and people were starting to notice. People
thought that someone else would end it, and they didn t have to do it all by themselves, but these
two were proactive in the fight. Their different characteristics, but similar goal helped the US reach
a slaveryfree country. Whereas Frederick Douglass had to escape slavery to preach for equality,
Robert Carter was born into wealth and fought against slavery in a whole different way.... Show

In January 1788, Robert discovers the spiritual writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, and quickly
switches from Baptist to the Church of New Jerusalem. While studying the religion, he is
convinced that slavery is inhumane, and decides to free his slaves. To do this, he drafts the
Deed of Gift, which frees more than 500 of his slaves. It is the largest emancipation before 1860
by any individual. (Barden) Frederick Douglass, on the other hand, didn t have the money to
free slaves, but he did have the knowledge to convince wealthy people to help free them. He
published three books in total and started two newspapers. His first book, Narrative of the Life
of Frederick Douglass, was an autobiography about his slave life. Ten years later, he published
My Bondage and My Freedom, another narrative about his early life. In 1881,z he published the

his encounters with other presidents. (McGuire and Wheeler, abc clio.com) These two feats helped

Nigeria, The Niger Delta and the Nigerian Government
Nigeria might be rich in resources; its population lives in poverty. With a Multidimensional
Poverty Index (MPI) of .31, it was ranked number 157 out of the 186 United Nations (UN)
member states in 2012. Also, according to the World Bank, the poverty headcount ratio was 68%,
meaning this part of the population lived with less than $1.25 a day in 2010.
The Niger Delta is one of the nine states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It counts about 20
million people and around 70 000 kmВІ of land. The region is one of the most prominent wetlands
in the world. Oil has produced about $600 billion since the 1960 s.
Despite its wealth in resources, the majority of the people live under poor conditions. To counter
this poverty, the Nigerian government has set up several commissions in the past. The most
prominent are the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC) and the
Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The OMPADEC was established in 1993 and focused on the development of the Niger Delta
Region (NDR). It however failed due to factors as corruption, mismanagement and non sufficient
funding. Hereafter, the NDDC was to replace the OMPADEC. It would create socio economic
development in the NDR. The NDDC set up various projects in the region. However, due to the
poor structure of the organisation and inadequate funding the NDDC have

Charlemagne, The King Of The Franks Essay
Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was born around the 2nd of April 747 and died
on the 28th of January 814. He was noted down in history as King of the Franks, a Germanic
speaking people who invaded western Rome residing in current day Germany, the King of the
Lombards, Germanic people who resided in parts of the Italian peninsula, and finally was the first
Holy Roman Emperor. Another name that has been bestowed upon Charlemagnewas the title Father
of Europe . Due to the Carolingian empire s rule, Charlemagne was able to unite nearly all of
western Europe. The last empire to do so was the Roman Empire and no other country would unite
Europe until the eighteen hundred under Napoleon. Charlemagne s father was named Pepin the
Short, a name that deceives most on the battlefield due to his incredible and unmatched strength.
Pepin the Short was the predecessor to Charlemagne as the king of the Franks. Pepin also helped set
up the Carolingian dynastybut did not peak its power until the crowning of Charlemagne.
Charlemagne s successor was his son, Louis the Pious, who would be dissimilar from
Charlemagne. In fact, for most of his reign, Louis the Pious would have to deal with many civil
wars which foreshadowed the diminishing strength of the Carolingian empire. Charlemagne would
serve as the prototype for most of the medieval western Europe for the next millennium until the
founding of the new world.

  • 2. Alternative Sources Of Alternative Energy Introduction Since the industrial age, fossil fuels have been used as a source of energy and power. The fossil fuels are used and converted into coal, oils, and gasses. The products of fossil fuels are mostly Carbon, which is harmful to the environment, leading to global warming and climate change, and O zone destruction. These conditions cause global temperature increase, ocean acidification, rising sea levels, health problems due to pollution, and the destruction of ecosystems (climate.nasa.gov). Considering these issues, alternative energysources are something that can be used to help combat harmful fossil fuels and lessen humanity s Carbon footprint (the amount of carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a person, group, etc.). There are multiple alternative and renewable energy sources available on the market today. Some of these include: solar panels, geothermal systems, and wind turbines; However, another alternative energy source could be harvesting lightning. Unlike the previous alternative energy sources, lightning can produce large amounts of power in a single strike. A single lightning bolt carries enough energy comparable to the energy stored in 145 liters of petrol (Malavika1, Vishal, p. 23). The lightning does not have to be built or mass produced, only the system used to harvest it. Harvesting the power of lightning would allow for a decrease on the reliance of fossil fuels for power as well as help solve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hollow Men Analysis The Real Life (A Discussion on Three Messages in T.S. Eliot s Hollow Men) T.S Eliot was the most famous English poet of his time, and he was one of the most influential poet. His distinctive style of writing took the attention of not only other poets, but many people all over the world. Thomas Stearns Eliot is best known as a poet and literary critic (he received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1948), but his work in social and cultural theory has also been widely influential (Edwards). T.S. Eliot s style of writing was mostly a pessimistic view on life. One of the best examples of his pessimistic view on life comes from his work The Hollow Men. The Hollow Men is a short part of the title The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot. The Hollow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot expresses the message of modern life doesn t appreciate faith. T.S. Eliot came to the conclusion that people of the modern generation have lost their faith that people once had. Eliot was nothing if not a seeker: seeking to reconcile the culture he saw with what he hoped it to be; seeking to reconcile an inner despair with a parallel want of faith (Dobrinska). In The Hollow Men Eliot describes how people don t put religion above all things important anymore. He explains we shifted to craving liberation not religion. At the end of the poem, eliot tries to recite God s words but is unable because the modern world no longer knows them. For thine is, life is, for thine is the (91). Eliot ends the poem with these words to really hit hard the point that religion is falling apart, and the modern world no longer believes in the idea. T.S. Eliot s last message in his literary work The Hollow Men is that the modern world lack integrity. Eliot explains that the modern world is afraid to meet our ancestors in the other side. Let me also wear such deliberate disguises (32). The modern world is embarrassed about the lives we live. The modern era hides their face from the ancestors because our lives are not as valuable as their lives once were. The modern era doesn t accomplish as much importance as the times before. It contains the poet s reflection on the subject of human nature in this world, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Universal Commercial Code, Banks, and Fraudulent Activity What happens when a bank accepts a check with a forged endorsement? Who suffers the loss? Who is liable? Where can these answers be found? Check fraud law is governed by Articles 3 and 4 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws and the American Law Institute created the Uniform Commercial Codein a joint effort. It took over ten years to originally draft the UCC, and a further fourteen years for the UCC to be implemented across the country. The creation of the UCC began in 1940 in an effort to attack major commercial problems with comprehensive legal solutions The UCC allows commercial organizations to do business across jurisdictional boundaries with confidence because these... It seems that the company does not think it feasible to try to recovery their loses from employee, Lisa Leslie, and therefore goes after the bank for allowing her to steal from them. Is the bank at fault? Does the bank have an obligation to their customers to protect them from fraudulent activity? In short, yes. Customers trust banks to do just that. In this case, the bank did what it was supposed to do. The court held that a corporate resolution given to the bank and a signature card gave the officer authority to endorse checks for deposit to the account, and to draft checks from the account, so the bank was not liable for conversion. These documents were unambiguous. The resolution and signature card clearly let the officer act for the company regarding the account, including withdrawing money and endorsing checks for deposit. The fact that she was not specifically designated as an officer in the resolution was irrelevant. Her acts did not violate the authority the resolution gave her, and whether she violated company policy related to her abuse of authority, not a lack of authority. The bank was not liable for such abuse. Given her authority, nothing put the bank on notice of her illegal activity, so the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Iron Curtain Speech Research Paper The Cold War was the state of tension between democratic nations and the communist Soviet Union. There were two opposing groups in the group. The United States and their allies formed NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the Soviet Union and their allies formed the Warsaw Pact. The NATO was formed to stop the progression of communism throughout countries and the Warsaw Pact wanted to take over countries to spread communism. The Cold Warlasted from 1945 to 1992. 1940 s Hiroshima A Bomb August 6, 1945 Before the First World War, German scientists James Franck and Gustav Hertz conducted experiments where they added electrons to Mercury atoms. They traced the energy changes that the collision caused. That experiment led Nils Bohr to make a theory that an atom can absorb energy in precise and definite amounts. After that experiment, many other scientists conducted research on radioactive methods to chemical problems and conducted more experiments on how elements would react when elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Churchill using the term Iron Curtain was iconic. The term became a part of the vocabulary used when talking about Cold War. The speech was used to confirm the relationship with Britain and the United States (forming an alliance). The speech was a warning of the danger that was the Soviet Union and Communism. By giving the speech let the public know the dangers of the Soviet Union. I think the Iron Curtain Speech speech was really interesting. I found myself to get lost while watching the video of the speech as I was getting information about the topic. I think it was important for the speech to be given. I don t have any other solution for the speech because it didn t affect anyone in a negative way (unlike the A Bomb). Overall, I enjoyed reading about the topic and how it set the beginning of the Cold War. 1960 s Gulf of Tonkin Resolution August 7, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of the invasive fungal diseases are caused by Candida and Aspergillus species, however, other pathogens such as Scedosporium and Fusarium species may be encountered.(1) The number of antifungal agents available for treating invasive fungal infections has grown in recent years and now includes mainly three classes of drugs, namely the polyene group which includes amphotericin B, the azoles, and the echinocandins, each of which has a specific profile with respect to antifungal activity and toxicity. Multiple factors have been found to be associated with a large variability in voriconazole exposure following standard dose administration, such as nonlinear saturable pharmacokinetics, patient age (in particular, with respect to children), liver disease, drug drug interactions, and genetic polymorphism of the cytochrome CYP2C19.(5) In experimental candidiasis, the ratio of voriconazole peak concentration and the 24 h area under the curve over the MIC have been identified as the best pharmacodynamic predictors of treatment success. In contrast, no experimental data are available regarding the pharmacodynamics of voriconazole for the treatment of aspergillosis or other mycoses. Recently, experts have suggested that voriconazole trough blood levels should be measured after 1 week of therapy for dose adjustment to target values of 1 5.5 mg /L.(6 8) However, the utility of such measurements remains debatable, given that multiple confounding factors may influence the outcome of infection and the assessment of tolerance in severely ill patients. This uncertainty highlights the need for additional drug exposure related efficacy and safety data in patients treated with voriconazole. The objective of the present observational study is to assess the utility of voriconazole therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM).(5, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of Gods And Romans Essay Of Gods and Romans The Romans during the time of their Republic relied on their advanced technology, social structure, leadership and politics to achieve as much as they did. To these people, their gods affected all of these factors and the relationships mankind had with them. The contractual relationship between mankind and the gods involved each party in giving, and in return receiving services. The Romans believed that spirits residing in natural and physical objects had the power to control the processes of nature, and that man could influence these processes by symbolic action. The first is a primitive form of religious creed; the second a type of magic. The services by which the Romans hoped to influence the forces that guided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any unintentional deviation from the prescribed ritual meant not only a new sacrifice, but also an additional one to absolve the error. In high occasions, on which a replay of the entire ceremony might be an embarrassment, a sacrifice was performed as a matter of course on the pervious day, to cover for any potential errors during the main ceremony. Multiple sacrifices were commonplace: the word hecatomb, which derives from the Greek, means the sacrifice of a hundred head of oxen. There was a distinction between signs that were solicited and those that appeared without invitation. At many times, an individual would see an omen that gave him/her confidence to continue a current course of action (52) other incidences produced warnings to change one s itinerary (55, 74 75). The more startling or unexpected the sign, for instance a sudden flash of lightning or an epileptic fit on the part of a member of an assembly, the more seriously it was taken. It was not unknown for an interested party to throw a feigned fit in order to obstruct proceedings. Lightning which appeared while auspices were being taken was good news, but not so if it came otherwise. Certain omens such as scorpions fighting (55), sacrificing an animal that does not appear to have a heart (303), or bizarre natural occurrences (74 75) were signs of disaster. The gods also produced omens through the actions of men. When a child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I remember visiting the Washington Monument with my familywhen I was younger and I was amazing to see that the monument was in 2 different colors! How Goals Are Used AMC s goals for craftsmen are solely based on when furniture is due. That is as far as craftsmen need to plan and as far as they are giving the opportunity to know something. For the position of craftsmen, that is all that is needed to know as far as goals are concerned. • 13. Humor of South Park Essay Manbearpig: Half Man, Half Bear, Half Pig, but All Global Warming? South Park is a popular animated comedy series written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. While the episodes of South Park are always humorous on the surface, each show usually has a deeper, much more profound meaning and moral. One episode of South Park entitled Manbearpig, named after the monster in the episode, has a particularly potent deeper meaning. On the surface, the episode pokes fun at monster stories, politics, and specifically Al Gore. Deeper down, however, this monster story can be read as a national allegory alluding to the dangers of global warming, the problems with the politics behind global warming, and the eventual doom we will all face if we do nothing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Al Gore tells the student body that he is there to warn them about the single biggest threat to human existence, a horrible monster named Manbearpig. Al Gore further goes on to describe the monster s appearance. He states that Manbearpig is half man, half bear, and half pig (South Park). This pokes fun at the typical monster in literature. The impossible ratio of man, bear, and pig shows how monsters can be considered scary regardless of how ridiculous they may actually be when analyzed literally. While Manbearpig is not necessarily intended to be scary to the audience of South Park, it is intended to be scary to the students by Al Gore. Once rulers cease to protect the ruled, the social contract is broken and the governed are free to choose another set of governors or magistrates. Rousseau believed that the only reason human beings were willing to give up individual freedom and be ruled by others was that they saw that their rights, happiness, and property would be better protected under a formal government rather than an anarchist or every person for themselves type of society. Rousseau noted that Each of us puts his person and all his power in common under the supreme direction of the general will, and, in our corporate capacity, we receive each member as an indivisible part of the whole. At once, in place of the individual personality of each contracting party, this act of association creates a moral and collective body, composed of as many members as the assembly contains voters, and receiving from this act its unity, its common identity, its life, and its will. Sexual Selection And Gender Selection Name: Chloe Mulqueen Lecturer: Grace McCormack ID: 14470708 Module: Evolutionary Biology ZO317 Sexual selection in fish inhabiting great lakes Sexual selection can best be described by the definition given by Darwin himself. Sexual selection is the advantage which certain individuals have over other individuals of the same species solely in respect of reproduction (Hosken et al, 2011). Sexual selection occurs throughout the animal kingdom, where male frogs dominate through the depth of their croak, and certain peacocks reign superior based on the colour and intricate detail on their tails. They remain superior to their lesser counterparts as they bear more admirable characteristics, from which they are chosen by females of the same species. Intersexual selection describes one sex (commonly females) choosing male partners for copulation. Females tend to choose the males based on secondary sexual characteristics. Intrasexual selection, on the other hand, is competition within the same sex, in the hope of gaining access to the other sex for reproduction (Eberhard, 1996). In ancient Athens, the Athenian government was not truly Democratic because only a little population of citizens could vote, the city can decide whether or not you have the right to be a citizen, and only a few citizens had the full amount of rights. Civil disobedience is a protest against the oppression people feel from their government, and when they feel they have no other route, no other way to get their voices heard, they calmly gather as a people, and show their government what they feel is wrong. The people who join in the marches and stand up at the rallies, they know that in the eyes of the law, what they are doing is wrong. Yet, this people know that in the eyes of morality and justice for the people, what the government is doing is wrong, so they accept those facts, and accept their punishment. A great era for civil disobedience in the United States of America, would have to be the 1960 s. It was a time for figureheads, such as Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr., to sprout up and be acknowledged by history. Now known as the civil rights movement, people ... • 36. The Efficacy Of Group Exposure Therapy Introduction to the Problem Given the high number of service members returning home with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD, from Operation Iraqi Freedom, OIF and Operation Enduring Freedom, OEF, it has been priority of the Military Health System and Veterans Affairs to identify and implement effective treatment (This is the military, 2014). Exposure therapy is the practice of flooding the client with images of their traumatic experience in an effort to desensitize them, and help control and reduce their anxiety (DiMaurio, 2014). This essay will discuss the efficacy of group exposure therapy when administered to patients with PTSD, specifically OIF and OEF veterans and service members. The outcome in successful studies will result in a decrease in PTSD symptoms. The applicability of the results and implementation of the treatment in alternate settings will also be discussed. Literature Synthesis ParticipantsMethodology Two studies analyzed the efficacy of group based exposure therapy. Ready et al. (2012) held three groups of ten participants with primarily war related induced PTSD. (Ready et al., 2012). Castillo et al. (2012) study treated 77 woman veterans with primarily sexual abuse related PTSD. All patients were selected from local VA clinics in the southern United States. In 2011, they recorded record sales, operating profit, net income, and cash flows from operations (Dollar General, 2012). Looking at the analysis and their overall numbers, Dollar General had a great year and I believe this is from their 2011 expansion plan. Their net sales was up to $14.8 B in 2011 from $13 B in 2010. They had a same store sales growth of 6% in 2011 from 4.9% in 2010. Their ending store count in 2011 ended up at 9,937 compared to what they had in 2010 with 9,372 stores. They actually surpassed their goal of 550 stores with adding an extra 15 stores. Another fact is they had a sales per square feet at $213 compared to 2010 which was $201 (Dollar General, 2012).
