This document discusses climate responsive architecture and design strategies for different climates in India. It provides details about the Punjab Energy Development Agency office building in Chandigarh, India, which uses passive design strategies to remain comfortable year-round in a composite climate. These include a hyperbolic paraboloid roof to minimize solar gain, double insulated walls and roofs, light vaults and solar chimneys for natural ventilation, and water features and landscaping for cooling. Performance analysis found the atrium space remains 10-12°C cooler than ambient air in summer, helping cool adjacent spaces naturally.
