The Civil War, By Harriet Beecher Stowe
Albert Einstein once said, You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better
than anyone else. Honestly, what quote represents General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard better
than that? It could be said that Beauregard, with his quick wit and tremendous skill, was destined to
play a vital role in the Civil War. Decades of tension and rivalry between the North and the South led
to the five year war between the states, more commonly known as the Civil War. No one knows for
certain what the true cause for war was; some people claim it was slavery; some people insist it was
state s rights. The main issues included the South s dwindling political power, state s rights, expansion
of slavery into the new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The five year war resulted in over 360,000 Union deaths and over 260,000 Confederate deaths, with
gruesome and bloody skirmishes and battles such as the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest single day of
the war, and the Battle of Gettysburg, the bloodiest battle of the war . The war ended in a Union
victory after General Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox
Courthouse on April 9, 1865 (historynet). But how did General Beauregard affect the Civil War? To
summarize, Beauregard played a key role in the Battle of Fort Sumter, the First Battle of Bull Run,
and was an excellent militant. Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard was born on May 28, 1818, into a
well respected Creole family. He was raised on a sugarcane plantation in St. Bernard Parish,
Louisiana, which is just outside of New Orleans. Beauregard attended school in New York City, but in
1834 he was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was popular, with
nicknames such as Little Creole and Little Napoleon, and finished second in his class when he
graduated in 1863 (history). Beauregard married Marie Antoinette Laure Villeré in 1841, and they had
three children, Rene, Henri, and Laure before she died in childbirth on March 21, 1850 (findagrave).

To Room Nineteen Crytical Analysis
_ To Room Nineteen _
I plan to argue To Room Nineteen by Doris Lessing for an audience of professors interested in the
field of psychology and it s affect on women s lives, stating that the cause of suicide for Ms. Dubois is
not because of the social judgments and perception negatively that impacted Susan s domestic
responsibilities but rather the lack of emotion within her life and her relationship with her husband,
because she could live up to the ideals valued by culture and beliefs but deep down she married for the
benefit of others and no love in their relationship or with her children.
Traditionally in the mid twentieth century, women held various duties that were crucial to keep their
households intact. Most have sacrificed much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also Sophie, the Rawlings household worker, replaced Susan s position in the family. Ever since
Sophie was welcomed into the family, she has been more of a mother, wife, and mistress of the house
than Susan, which caused her to feel out of place. She took lunch with Mrs. Parkes, Sophie, Sophie s
Italian friend Maria, and her daughter Molly, and felt like a visitor. (2777) It gives her the impression
that she was invisible and separated from her family. In addition, her four children require her
complete attention to tend for them so that they would grow to be strong and healthy adults. She was
breaking her part of the bargain and there was no way of forcing her to keep it: that her spirit, her soul,
should live in this house, so that people in it could grow like plants in water, and Mrs. Parkes remain
content in their service. (2772) As long as she s their mother, she will continuously put all her energy
to raise her children. She could not deliver all these requests to nurture her children, so she decides to
abandon her duties. Seclusion is a major aspect that influences a person to become odd and bizarre.
Women s freedom and liberation are restrained because of the principles followed by customary
lifestyles. Doris Lessing draws extensively on women s inner, private experiences and on their
departure from the unsatisfactory reality of life in an alienated and alienating society. (Rula Quawas)

The Microstructure of a Typical Animal Cell Essay
Unit 13, task 1.
P1 Describe the microstructure of a typical animal cell and the functions of the main cell components.
A typical animal cell is seen as a tiny, three dimensional sac which is in fact made up of many
components, each as important as the other. The microstructure of an animal cell was in fact
uncovered mainly through the use of both cell fractionation and electron microscopy. Each main
component has its own, individual function which helps a cell to function and maintains the cell
membrane. The components that I will be describing include the cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm,
mitochondria, lysosomes, Golgi bodies, centrioles, endoplasmic reticulum (both smooth and rough)
and ribosomes.
The cell membrane The cell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (Smooth ER) The smooth endoplasmic reticulum is very similar in
terms of structure and chemically to the rough endoplasmic reticulum with the exception of not being
able to attach ribosomes like the rough ER can. The smooth ER has more than just one main function
and in simple terms these are control of calcium release within the muscle cells, breakdown of lipid
soluble toxins in the liver and lipid steroid hormone synthesis. It primarily makes and process fat
within a typical animal cell. The structure of the smooth ER is usually said to be tubular rather than
sheet like and it may be separate from the rough ER or in some cases may in fact be an extension of it.
The smooth ER is said to be most common in cells that metabolise fat and it is a continuation of the
outer nuclear membrane of a cell. It is made up of a vast network of membrane which is usually
covered in tubules and vesicles. Depending on the type of cells, the amount of rough and smooth
endoplasmic reticulum that is present within it varies somewhat greatly. Endoplasmic means inside of
the cytoplasm and the term reticulum means network. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (Rough ER)
The surface of the rough endoplasmic reticulum is covered in ribosomes which are

The New Liberal Arts
In today s generation college students struggle to attend higher education. Tuition has been higher than
ever before to attend college. This is true, college students battle to go to college. A book that I read
They Say, I say mentions, many families are indeed struggling, in depths of recession, to pay for their
children s college eduction. (Sanford, 191). Paying for college funds affect families as well as the
student. The title provides the basic to justifying the claim. The title can grave the readers attention in
the first paragraph or have them hurtle away. The title of Sanford, The New Liberal Arts catches the
readers attention. The word New made the reader want to know what was the new liberal arts. So the
reader will dig into the first page to find out what the new liberal arts is. The claim is what the writer
is trying to say to the reader also know as the main idea of the reading. Sanford s claim is that liberal
arts is a better investment based on his experience although is cost the most. Sanford say, a liberal arts
degree is a luxury that most families no longer afford. That being said Sanford claim is strong because
he gives examples to support his claim throughout the chapter. An arguable opposition was that
students are taking shorts cuts to well paying job. Although this may be a good idea they are job that
may have a deed end. Sanford disagrees with taking short cuts because they do not teach critical

company with a long history in the footwear market and a marketing mix makeover for RealFlex
could very well put the company back on top. By increasing the focus on the health benefits for older
generations and aesthetically pleasing innovation for younger generations, Reebok will be able to
cover wider demographics, thus increasing sales. This is a product which needs to be on the feet of
consumers, because once that happens; the footwear will speak for itself.
The remainder of this marketing plan is organized as follows: First, it will examine the company of

Handguns Should Not Be Banned Handguns
Gun violence, especially that as caused by handguns, is a major problem in America. It affects
millions of people annually, and the effects it has are irreversible. However, this reality does not
constitute for a complete ban on the private ownership of handguns. A ban on the private ownership of
handguns should not be enacted on the grounds that the United States government ought to preserve
democratic legitimacy and constitutionalism, and a ban is not feasible or just in America s political
climate. Every day, 282 people are shot in the United States but this is not merely the result of the
array of firearms available in this country. Instead, a minority of the guns that Americans own are
responsible for much of this violence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wintemute and Teret, professors at Johns Hopkins University attribute this to the shame associated
with mental health in America. Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation reveals that from 1990
to 1997, 90,000 of the 147,000 suicides committed were committed with a firearm―a tribute to the
handgun s operational simplicity and effectivity. Overall, handguns are responsible for seventy percent
of firearm suicides. Douglas Wiebe of the University of California Los Angeles School of Public
Health conducted a nationally representative study which revealed that ninety four percent of gun
related suicides would not have occurred had a gun not been present.
A motley of international examples provide proof of concept for a national handgun ban. For example,
the Australian prime minister announced in 1996 that Australia would be enacting a national handgun
ban, and guns would be collected through a gun buyback program. This resulted in the confiscation of
650,000 guns, a forty two percent drop in the homicide rate, and a fifty seven percent drop in the
firearm suicide rate. In addition, no mass shootings have occurred since the ban, a sharp contrast to the
thirteen shootings that took place in the thirteen years before. The homicide rate also fell to less than
one per one hundred thousand, while the United States hovers at five per one hundred thousand.
Professor Donahue of Stanford University attributes this to more than merely the

Public Health Authorities Need to Conduct Public Health...
Module 1 Assignment
Please answer below two questions, using an essay format.
Question 1 Using HIV/AIDS as an example to discuss why public health authorities need to conduct
public health surveillance and to describe how surveillance system is managed in Australia (9 marks)
(Up to 800 words)
Public health surveillance is defined as the ongoing systematic collection, collation, analysis and
interpretation of outcome specific data for public health purposes, closely integrated with the timely
dissemination of public health information for assessment and public health response for preventing
and controlling disease as necessary (Thacker Stroup; Thacker et al.1994; World Health Assembly,
2005). The surveillance method used for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and human
Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infections in Australia is similar to these methods used for other
diseases, aiming at reducing high risk behaviors, lowering the incidence of transmission and infection.
Firstly, the surveillance system for HIV/AIDS draws a unique epidemiological picture of magnitude
and trends in the prevalence of infection, resource allocation, targeted groups and risk behavior over
time. It describes the pattern of transmission of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and other specific sexually
transmissible infections. Secondly, It monitors an information cycle for collection and exchange
between different public health institutions between clinical and laboratory facilities, infection

Chesapeake Bay And The Bay
About 18 thousand years ago, glacial sheets from the last ice age begin to melt (Chesapeake Bay
Program n.d.). As the glaciers melted the large volume of water began to raise sea levels. The rising
seas levels engulfed the coast and flooded the Susquehanna river ( Geological History n.d.). Once the
seas levels have risen, the temperatures continued to rise changing the landscape. So oak, maple,
hickory, and other hardwood species started to appear (Chesapeake Bay Program n.d.). Once the
temperature increases even more hardwood forests and wetlands are created. As even more of the
glaciers melt it floods the Susquehanna river more and it even floods the Potomac, James, and York
rivers pouring into the Atlantic Ocean creating the Bay s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bay is fed by 48 major rivers and 100 small tributaries draining a 64,000 square mile basin (
Geological History n.d.). The Bay has a width of four miles near Aberdeen, Maryland to thirty miles
near Cape Charles, Virginia (Chesapeake Bay Program n.d.). The average depth of the bay is 21 feet
with troughs as deep as 174 feet deep (Chesapeake Bay Program n.d.). The main rivers of the
Chesapeake Bay is the Susquehanna, Potomac, James, Rappahannock, Chester, Nanticoke, Patuxent,
and the Choptank rivers (Sprague et al 2000). The main rivers of the Chesapeake Bay watershed send
about 51 billion gallons of freshwater into the Bay each day (Chesapeake Bay Program n.d.). These
rivers are homes to many fish, amphibians, invertebrates, and other animals. Not only do aquatic
animals live in these rivers, plenty of aquatic plants live there too (Chesapeake Bay Program n.d.).
There are many factors that could affect the health of the Chesapeake Bay including litter, debris,
sediment pollution, chemical contaminants, and any man made objects (Chesapeake Bay Program
n.d.). Any litter and debris will work its way up to the Bay from the rivers and smother any grass beds
along with bottom dwelling creators and add chemical contaminants to the water. Any excess nutrients
that come from urban runoff or vehicle emissions will cause harmful algae to grow which blocks
sunlight and does not allow plants to grow due to low oxygen dead zones

Essay on Data Encryption
Data Encryption
I. What is Data Encryption?
Data encryption describes the transformation of plain text into a different format that is meaningless
read by human eye without being decrypted, so called cipher text, in order to prevent any
unauthorized party to obtain information from the document.
According to the Webster dictionary, cryptography is the practice and study of data encryption and
decryption encoding data so that it can only be decoded by specific individuals. Crypto is derived
from the Greek word kruptos, to hide, from kruptein, which means hidden and secret. In the old days,
people attempted to withhold certain information as their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next breakthrough in the encryption history happened in 1500BC in Assyria. Intaglio was used by
Assyrian merchants to identify themselves in their business transactions. Intaglio is a piece or flat
stone or gem that has some sort of pattern, designs or writing engraved on its surface that uniquely
identify its owner. The idea of intaglio is very brilliant and people around the world started to use
intaglio in their trade businesses and even as a popular form of identifications in any written
documents in human history until the past century. In fact, the concept of Intaglio is so good that
modern technology created digital signature based on it. Following, there were many other significant
inventions and progresses in the cryptography history: Skytales by Greeks, long leather strips that
wrapped around when the person writes and reads; Nomenclator, manipulations of alphabets and etc.
Notice that the US had not yet been mentioned in the ancient history of cryptography. The US did not
contribute much at all to the growth until 18th century AD. In 1790, Thomas Jefferson invented a
wheel cipher with the help of mathematician Dr. Robert Patterson. This wheel cipher is an elaborate
form of code system and this invention make Thomas Jefferson the pioneer of American
Cryptography. This invention was later on enhanced and modified; a couple generations later, it was
used in World War II.

Free Will In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
It seems that as a race, humans are entangled in the never ending battle between edacity and altruism,
repeating the same mistakes and duplicating the poor decisions of those before them until they are
empowered enough to believe in their own free will. It is this free will and ability to triumph that is
known to us as timshel, which is one of the more central ideas about men and sin that the Steinbeck
novel East of Eden embodies. It is by far the most conspicuous and pronounced of any of the
arguments Steinbeck makes, and this can be attributed to its timeless relevancy. Perhaps every choice
made by every individual that has existed since Genesis, as well as every choice that all generations to

This is exemplified in his relationships, namely with Abra, described best by saying ...of Abra, he
made his immaculate dream, and having created her, fell in love with her...And as Abra became more
radiant, more pure and beautiful, Aron took an increasing joy in a concept of his own wickedness
(521). This is a parallel to Adam s clouded vision of Cathy. Aron refuses to accept anything but an
idealized story for himself and and is therefore unable to embrace the reality of life, which explains
his grief at Stanford considering that What he had expected to find at the university had been vague
and beautiful. His picture―never really inspected―had been of clean eyed young men and
immaculate women... (520). What he actually finds is reality, which isn t atrocious, but compared to
Aron s rendition of life, the situation disappoints, leaving him with a feeling of dissatisfaction despite
the amount of love he receives. Aron is perpetually frustrated with his father for the same reason.
When the absence of a mother does not live up to his vision of a family, he blames his father for this,
regardless of how much love Adam proffers. He continually tries to fill this void by creating an
idealized perception of a mother, and using Abra to substitute as the ideal woman he has

Medieval Vs. Renaissance Philosophy

Medieval Vs Renaissance Philosophy
The Medieval Era was a time dominated by belief. People lived with such great superstition and fear
of God. Many people were focused not on their lives her on earth, but rather their life after death.
During the Renaissance people became more humanistic and focused more on their lives in the
moment rather than their afterlife. We can see these changes of Ideas by studying the works of Saint
Anselm of Canterbury, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Thomas a Kempis, and Caesarius of Heisterbach from
the Medieval Era and compare it to the works of Marsilio Ficino, Leonardo Da Vinci, Niccolo
Machiavelli, and Desiderius Erasmus of the Renaissance period we can see ... Show more content on

Here Aquinas argues that everything that happens is the cause of something, but nothing can cause
itself. If we trace back a cause all the way back to the beginning of the world, it could not have caused
itself. Therefore, God must have been the first cause. Aquinas third proof is the Argument from
Contingency. We see that everything here on earth is finite. People die, empires fall. All things must
come to an end. That means things had to have a beginning where nothing was in existence yet. How
did things come into existence? God. Aquinas s 4th argument is the Argument of Degrees. Here we
judge things to be a certain degree of good or bad. But what are we comparing that to? If they have a
certain degree of good and bad, then what is the greatest degree of good? And that must be God.
Aquinas s final argument is his Argument from Design. Perhaps one of his strongest arguments
Aquinas says that there must be an intelligent designer behind everything. Random objects don t have
any brains to act the way they do. But they are directed in the way they act by God.
Thomas a Kempis is famous for his work in The Imitation of Christ. The book is one of the most
famous devotional books for Christians right after the Bible. In his book he tells the common folk how
to live like Christ (Hence the name Imitation of Christ ). The book tells us how to live not for our lives
today, but for our lives in the next life. He tells us

Buckley, Jr., William F. Crucial Steps in Combating the Aids Epidemic; Identify All the Carriers. New
York Times: 18 March 1986. Bowers v. Hardwick 478 U.S. 186 (1986).
Ideas about sex, gender and homosexuality have been changing rapidly over the past several decades
in the United States. There are several obvious reasons for this. The primary one is legal: various legal
decisions by the United States Supreme Court have altered existing law on the subject of sex and
homosexuality, and substantially affected matters of gender as expressed in law. But there has also
been a social shift driven by medicine, largely based on response to the AIDS epidemic at its height in
the 1980s and 1990s, but also in terms of other medical matters such as contraception and abortion.
To a certain degree, seeing how these matters have progressed since the 1960s gives a good vantage to
predicting where they will go in the future. In conclusion, I will look at the future of change on these
matters, by examining what seems to be the avant garde regarding matters of sex and gender, the
phenomenon of transsexualism. I hope an examination of transsexualism will point out some of the
contradictions that still continue to exist in American ideas about matters of sex. We are accustomed to
referring to a sexual revolution in the 1960s, but the actual consequences of that social shift were
necessarily reflected in the law. To a

The neutral zone of Bridges model and stage 5 of Spencer and Adams include the establishment of
new skills and behaviors associated with the change. The individual feels optimistic and a sense of
comfort with the change. In the last stages of both models, the individual experiencing change
internalizes the new role behaviors and feels satisfied. Nursing has dramatically evolved in recent
history in response to the changes in society, the healthcare system as well as to the evolution of the
profession itself. Changes include: an aging and more diverse population, changing reimbursement
practices, new technology and scientific discoveries, new diseases related to social and environmental
problems. Changes in nursing roles represent a shift in the view of nursing from simply an occupation
or job to a profession with a commitment to the role (Blais amp; Hayes, 2011). Changes in the
healthcare system affect society s expectation of nursing care. Due to these high expectations, nurses
are returning to school in order to satisfy these prospects and are more effective in their roles.
Prospective nursing students and registered nurses that are returning to school are undergoing many of
the challenges described in these two models of transition. I recently change my work place and after

Database Management Systems That Are Used For Non...
Overview
NoSQL is generally interpreted as Not only SQL [1]. It is a class of database management systems
that are used for non relational database. Typically NoSQL database does not use two dimensional
table to store data. The four generally categories of NoSQL database are key values database, column
databases, document databases, and graph databases [2]. NoSQL database is an indispensable part of
big data. Most company choose NoSQL database because it yields better performance when compared
to relation database. Many relational databases have been existing for more than 20 years, while most
NoSQL databases have a history of less than 5 years. Because NoSQL databases are so young, they
exposes lots of security issues. Many NoSQL databases are still focusing on adding features and
improving performance, while strength security mechanism is still a low priority task. There were
already two data breaches happened in companies that are using NoSQL databases (MongoHQ in
2013 and LinkedIn in 2012 [3]).
Detailed result
NoSQL database characteristics
The problem of relational database is that its performance degrade significantly while handling
exponential growth of semi structured data or unstructured data [4]. The NoSQL databases possess
properties called BASE (Basically available, Soft state, and eventually consistent) that makes it much
more scalable than relational databases. As the CAP theorem [5] said, a database system cannot have

1. Risk Assessment
a. A risk assessment is a process which identifies the risks to confidentiality, integrity, and availability
of protected information, determines the probability of a breach of information, and the resulting
impact for each threat/vulnerability pair identified given the security controls already in place.
b. It prioritizes risks and results in recommendations for controls that might offset or mitigate the
determined risk.

Traditional Vs. Online Education
Compare and Contrast Traditional vs. Online As this world s technology is progressing so is the way
we teach and learn. Ever since school started hundreds of years ago it s always been a teacher in a live
classroom with many students. Everything is shifting, however; and now we have transitioned into
online classes as well. I have had both, and I can tell you there are many comparisons and contrasts
between the two. 77% of educators believe that online learning is just as good as traditional learning,
if not better, nearly 70% of all students claim online instruction to be as good as or better than a
traditional classroom setting, and 26% of online students claim to learn better online than in a
classroom. So clearly people aren t too against this new form of learning. Online enrollment rates are
expanding at much faster rates than traditional classroom enrollment growth; specifically, in higher
education, online enrollments have grown 21%, whereas growth for traditional classroom instruction
registers only 2% since 2002. Traditional and Online classes have a lot of similarities and differences
especially in areas like flexibility, comprehension of the course material, and discipline. Traditional is
what I had my entire life up until I entered high school. It is what I prefer out of both choices. I learn
from one on one interaction, and that is something that online doesn t have. In traditional there is not

high level customer service policy, that constantly seeks feedback from its customers, the tax payer. If
this feedback, then become a factor for evaluation and appraisals, the management and hiring will
become conscious of efficiency and try to mimic the diversity of the population in their hiring. This
aggressive diversity management system coupled with EEO could be great option for public agencies
to be diverse and eliminate Affirmative Action. While the author understands that there are other
complex issues and arguments surrounding this topic, the concept of the tax payer forcing the public
agency to diversity, just as a the customers force a business to diversity is an appealing process to the

John Stuart Mill Vs Marx Essay
John Stuart Mill and Marx can both be classified as the most important thinkers of the Enlightenment
era in their analyses of human freedom and progress and their differing views of how humans could
achieve this progress and ultimately how the modern government should be run. Both men were
unique in that they addressed the effects of the Industrial Revolution and Globalization on the
socioeconomic, religious and governing policies of their time. Marx s importance rested on his focus
on how progress affected economics. The Industrial Revolution replaced feudalism and serfdom with
capitalism and the bourgeois; thus, Marx points out that drastic changes in economic structure are
possible. Marx s primary opposition with Capitalism regards the ... Show more content on

Women are mostly considered 2nd class citizens, cannot work in many jobs or interact extensively in

nearly half of society are affected by this, Mills works in exposing and bringing discrimination to the

gender inequality. The treatment of women also goes against another central tenet of Mills:
Utilitarianism. Everyone should be entitled to be free and experience pleasures whether it be the high
pleasures of the mind or the lower physical pleasures of the body. Mills wants freedom for the

USA on the Road to Becoming a Police State Essay
If citizens cannot trust that laws will be enforced in an evenhanded and honest fashion, they cannot be

by Dale Carpenter. Have you noticed how the government enforces the laws these days influenced by
corrupted system and the destruction of our constitution? The creation of bills and laws that are being
passed that are mainly for more control and to take away our rights. This is reality, we the people are

are. The 1% controls the media, music industry, and has power as up as the government. Let s look at

George Carlin, Jimmy Kimble, these are some who believe. They talk about it on TV and comedy bits
which all can be found on Youtube. Even the general public who have seen past the system are
fighting it taking the right actions such as peaceful protesting. Also the people that over the years
entertaining us have the same belief that we are being controlled, wouldn t you think there is
something really going on. How many times have you seen protesting about the government taking
our rights away and suddenly never talked about again because of a new story they want us to hear
instead of what they are really doing. Even the news is rigged we are being told that it s all the news
we need to hear. Stories that do not even need to be said to us why because they are trying to entertain

The Book Of Revelation, By The Old Testament And The New...
The Book of Revelation is conceivably the most fascinating of all the books in the Bible. It is a book
that prophesies about the signs pointing to the world s conditions just before the return of Jesus Chris,
and how each stage prepares for this up and coming event. Because prophecy is a large percentage of
the Bible, people say that the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, and the New Testament
is the Old Testament revealed . Through the prophets, Scripture reveals a redeemer and the name of
Messiah. They foretell about Christ s birth, death and resurrection in the Old Testament and the New
Testament retells His real life stories. Because of this, a large part of the prophecy in both the Old and
New Testament according to Christians has been fulfilled. Yet, the Book of Revelation, the last book is
a writing of indistinguishable forces and mystical powers at work in the world as Satan sets up the
stages for the return of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
There are many fantastic subjects in Biblical prophecy. They set up the One Dimensional Kinematics
in the historical events like motions setting people up in a straight line leading all the verses to a real
time realization. The church is a major part of prophecy; and yet based on this common theme in
Christian theology, this can also reference a group of people who represent the religious dynamics
during the time. Yet, the number reason for the writings is the Lord Jesus Christ. Although other topics

Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass
This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of
stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different aspects, I
feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this, the tools needed
was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass. Using the ball cutter,
you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After that is made, take the pliers
to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What you do is align the cut with the
line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The grozing pliers are used for non straight
cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your hand as the other and go on either side of the
score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first
struggled with figuring out how to position my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the
glass, and the angle to put my hand. Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass
that had a curved score. Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At
one point I ended up deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the
pieces cut. After all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. This didn t seem to
challenge me at all, but rather proved to

The Influence Of Homer s Odyssey On Margaret Atwood
Explain the influence of Homer s Odyssey on Margaret Atwood.
It is very clear that Atwood was influenced by The Odyssey when writing The Penelopiad. After
reading The Odyssey, it left Atwood with more questions than answers about the maids and Penelope.
Atwood waned to explore the poem from a female perspective. Atwood found many inconstancies in
the story of the maids which she wanted to explore. She also wanted to explore Penelope s role as a
wife, mother and materfamilias. Margaret Atwood said that after reading The Odyssey she had two
questions; what led to the hanging of the maids and what was Penelope really up to? In writing The
Penelopiad, she felt she was able to answer those questions. Atwood acknowledged that The Odyssey
recorded by Homer in a Patriarchal time period. This helped to shape and influence her desire to find
out the answers to her questions and inspired her to write The Penelopiad with a modern perspective.
I believe The Penelopiad was loosely based on some of the events that take place in The Odyssey. It is
a re interpretation of Penelope s life story, including her early childhood, marriage, the events leading
up to the hanging of the twelve maids and the reuniting of Odysseus and Penelope. Penelope, through
Atwood, retells her story from the Greek underworld. She wanted to break the cultural myths and
stereotypes about women that Homer had portrayed in The Odyssey. The Penelopiad does not retell
the story of The Odyssey.

Comparing T-Mobile, Axe And Nike
Different companies have their own unique ways in advertising their products through TV
commercials, billboards, print ads and such. These marketing styles are commonly called as
propaganda where in they persuade people to think their products are better than others. Though
advertisers use unrealistic propaganda about certain products, it has become effective in attracting
consumers to buy their products. Bandwagon is one technique used to convince people to join the
crowd as everyone else is in it. T Mobile, Axe and NIke are some companies that persuasively used

First, T Mobile released a commercial wherein they depicted a flash mob dancing in the lobby of

| Interracial Marriages | Proposal | | Tyler Smith | |

Introduction
To see a black man and a white woman walking down the street holding hands used to be unheard of.
It was a relationship that, for the few who engaged in it, was kept as quiet as possible. During the
fifties and sixties, interracial dating was not socially acceptable and there were repercussions for those
who were involved in such behaviors because various laws, such as the Jim Crow laws, which kept the
different races/ethnicities separate and it was seen as extremely socially deviant to go against these
rules. Between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, there have been theoretical proposals for the existence of other predictors of attitudes
and actions, which may be relevant to the current research. Recent studies have found that controlling
for other variables, significant predictors of opposition to a law banning interracial marriage include
being non white, being younger, holding a liberal ideology, identifying as a democrat, having greater
income, having a greater level of education, being less religious, and living outside of the South
(Haider Markel and Joslyn 2005). For some of these predictors, theoretical explanations have been
proposed. Various researchers have conducted investigations into the many aspects of this type of
relationship and have concluded that an increase in interracial marriages has occurred. This increase
may be the result of numerous factors, including the Supreme Court lifting of the legal restrictions on
racial intermarriage in 1967, the decrease in White prejudice against Blacks, and the narrowing of the
racial gap in education, income, and occupation (Kalmijn 1993). However, Kalmijn (1993) states that
although these factors may have resulted in an increase in interracial marriages, other factors may
counter this effect. For instance, there has been an increase in Black unemployment, a rise in the racial
gap of college enrollment, and part of

Compare And Contrast The Two Front War And The Schlieffen...
What was the Two Front War and The Schlieffen Plan, and how did they affect the war? The
Schlieffen Plan was created by General Count Alfred von Schlieffen in December 1905. This plan was
created to prove Germany victorious over France and Russia. General Schlieffen wanted to make a
plan where Germany could fight both France and Russia and still be victorious. Schlieffen saw France
as the biggest threat, and decided that they should be first defeated to secure victory over both armies.
Schlieffen proposed that German forces would advance through Belgium to avoid strong French
troops on the Franco German Border. German troops would then move south and take the French by
surprise. This plan eventually failed and Schlieffen was replaced

Historiography The Natural
Historiography Historiography is a historical film theory that focuses on the assumptions, principles,
and methodologies of historical study (Giannetti, 528). Giannetti divides this theoretical study into
four different types of film history: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social. According to
American scholar, Raymond Fielding, the history of motion pictures as an art form, as a medium of
communication, and as an industry has been determined principally by technological innovations
(Giannetti, 531). With time comes much technological advancement that will allow filmmakers to
accurately portray what they want and give the audiences the intended experience. Technological
advancements have aided in the production of The Rookie and The Natural in the sense that both films
could be shown through a multitude of decadal lenses. Both films show the main characters in their
childhood and how that has shaped who they are, but it also shows them in adulthood as well. The

structuralism and semiology. Joseph Campbell mentions a good point while discussing the function of
mythology by saying that, one of the functions of mythology is to guide human spirit by providing
common or universal symbols that offset that darker nature of humans (Wood Pincus, 22). The Natural
most certainly follows this function with the underlying network of symbolic meaning along with its
many symbols. Each of the metaphors discussed by Wood and Pincus can relate to the points
previously mentioned in the structuralism/semiology section and their analysis includes some aspects
not previously noted that would further contribute to the underlying structure, such as the universal

Establishment of strong and efficient defensive measures influences the selection of sites to target by
the terrorists. Good defense also enables terrorists to craft other method new methods to attack their
targets, but it does not totally prevent the terrorists from committing their terror attacks. Terrorists are
groups that wage war against the weak points of the society, and they are never out to fight but to
cause destruction. Terrorists attack the innocent people as a way of articulating their ideology and
communicating to the government. Realization of security beep sets terror to a less secure place where
they lodge their attacks. However, security effectiveness does not prevent terrorists from committing

administering their wrath when they realize that the security is tight. These methods include the use of
weapons that can easily get ported without causing much attention like guns instead of bombs and also
recruiting members of the target country to their group. With the innovations, the terrorists can

An Analysis Of Jeremy Bentham, White And Haine
An initial design of Jeremy Bentham, White and Haine noted how the panopticon for Foucault was a
metaphor for the architectural figure of the disciplinary composition identified in the plague.15 In
summary, the panopticon is a circular architectural structure where the cells are arranged around a
central viewing tower in a manner that ensures permanent visibility.16 Resisting any reliance on
physical instruments of control (other than the architectural structure and geometrics of the building),
the panopticon installs a repressive system based on a principle of permanent surveillance which
ensures the functioning of power .17 Semple reinforced this point, noting that Foucault elevated the
panopticon because it was the instrument of transformation; it becoming the emblem of modern
disciplinary power.18 It automised and disindividualised power, with a real subjection born
mechanically from a fictitious relation.19 For Foucault, the panopticon was also a mechanism that
created an environment that could be used to experiment, alter behaviour and to train/correct
individuals. An observer in the panopticon allowed one to carry out experiments on its subjects, study
behaviour and analyse actions. The plague stricken town undoubtedly conveyed an exceptional
disciplinary model: violently perfect, the effective exercise of the right of the sword.20 It was an
image of discipline blockade , the enclosed institution established on the fringe of society.21 The
panopticon however, was

Erica Fryberg
Friendships is a poem by Erica Fryberg that can relate to almost anybody who has experienced real
and fake friendships, as it is about the speaker s perspective on friendships, and the difference between
having real and fake friends, forced friendships and real friendships. Through a comparison of
friendships and furniture, the poet uses a humorous tone to describe friendships, making the speaker
relatable. I particularly enjoyed this, as on a personal level I was able to relate to this, as a student at a
school where teachers attempted to force unnatural relationships multiple times. Overall, this poem
was an engaging poem, which, through language and poetic devices, clearly described the difference
between real and fake friendships.
As the title implies, the subject matter of this poem are friendships, and real and fake friends. The first
stanza describes how forced friendships are often fake, and are only an idealized image of real
friendships, made only for the purpose of pleasing the teacher. Through a comparison of furniture and
friendships, the poet depicts the fakeness of the forced friendships, and how they seem polished and

legislation that guides and authorizes funding for most federal farm and food policies, including the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). He express how the farm bill gives little money
to growing and selling organic foods but funds things like high fructose corn syrup because it is
cheaper to produce. We can see this translated in supermarket prices. How organic foods are priced
more expensive than junk. Pollen goes into detail when he states By comparison, the farm bill does
almost nothing to support farmers growing fresh produce.

Stimulus Package Analysis
I m gonna give it to you now, once and for all, the secret behind the magic trick of how the oligarchy

First: This is the Brookings presenting Sanders to its members and the select few from the MSM. That

Duality In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight pagan and Christian symbols are scattered throughout the poem.
The cultural duality is represented through characters and objects in the poem. The duality is a result
of a shift from pagan to Christian religion at the time. The holly and the oak, Sir Bertilak and the
Green Knight, and Sir Gawain s shield are some of the ways cultural duality are illustrated in the
poem. The holly and the oak in the poem have culture significance in both pagan and Christian
cultures. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the poet observes, But in one hand he carried a holly
branch/ Into a dense forest, wondrously wild:/ Of massive grey oaks, hundreds growing together:/
(206,741,743). In pagan culture the holly represents the waning year when summer starts to turn to fall

Sumerians used it to represent the five known planets, to the Greeks it represents the goddess of the

  • 2. The Civil War, By Harriet Beecher Stowe Albert Einstein once said, You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Honestly, what quote represents General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard better than that? It could be said that Beauregard, with his quick wit and tremendous skill, was destined to play a vital role in the Civil War. Decades of tension and rivalry between the North and the South led to the five year war between the states, more commonly known as the Civil War. No one knows for certain what the true cause for war was; some people claim it was slavery; some people insist it was state s rights. The main issues included the South s dwindling political power, state s rights, expansion of slavery into the new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The five year war resulted in over 360,000 Union deaths and over 260,000 Confederate deaths, with gruesome and bloody skirmishes and battles such as the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest single day of the war, and the Battle of Gettysburg, the bloodiest battle of the war . The war ended in a Union victory after General Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865 (historynet). But how did General Beauregard affect the Civil War? To summarize, Beauregard played a key role in the Battle of Fort Sumter, the First Battle of Bull Run, and was an excellent militant. Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard was born on May 28, 1818, into a well respected Creole family. He was raised on a sugarcane plantation in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, which is just outside of New Orleans. Beauregard attended school in New York City, but in 1834 he was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was popular, with nicknames such as Little Creole and Little Napoleon, and finished second in his class when he graduated in 1863 (history). Beauregard married Marie Antoinette Laure Villeré in 1841, and they had three children, Rene, Henri, and Laure before she died in childbirth on March 21, 1850 (findagrave). He was an ... • 3. To Room Nineteen Crytical Analysis _ To Room Nineteen _ I plan to argue To Room Nineteen by Doris Lessing for an audience of professors interested in the field of psychology and it s affect on women s lives, stating that the cause of suicide for Ms. Dubois is not because of the social judgments and perception negatively that impacted Susan s domestic responsibilities but rather the lack of emotion within her life and her relationship with her husband, because she could live up to the ideals valued by culture and beliefs but deep down she married for the benefit of others and no love in their relationship or with her children. Traditionally in the mid twentieth century, women held various duties that were crucial to keep their households intact. Most have sacrificed much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also Sophie, the Rawlings household worker, replaced Susan s position in the family. Ever since Sophie was welcomed into the family, she has been more of a mother, wife, and mistress of the house than Susan, which caused her to feel out of place. She took lunch with Mrs. Parkes, Sophie, Sophie s Italian friend Maria, and her daughter Molly, and felt like a visitor. (2777) It gives her the impression that she was invisible and separated from her family. In addition, her four children require her complete attention to tend for them so that they would grow to be strong and healthy adults. She was breaking her part of the bargain and there was no way of forcing her to keep it: that her spirit, her soul, should live in this house, so that people in it could grow like plants in water, and Mrs. Parkes remain content in their service. (2772) As long as she s their mother, she will continuously put all her energy to raise her children. She could not deliver all these requests to nurture her children, so she decides to abandon her duties. Seclusion is a major aspect that influences a person to become odd and bizarre. Women s freedom and liberation are restrained because of the principles followed by customary lifestyles. Doris Lessing draws extensively on women s inner, private experiences and on their departure from the unsatisfactory reality of life in an alienated and alienating society. • 4. The Microstructure of a Typical Animal Cell Essay Unit 13, task 1. P1 Describe the microstructure of a typical animal cell and the functions of the main cell components. A typical animal cell is seen as a tiny, three dimensional sac which is in fact made up of many components, each as important as the other. The microstructure of an animal cell was in fact uncovered mainly through the use of both cell fractionation and electron microscopy. Each main component has its own, individual function which helps a cell to function and maintains the cell membrane. The components that I will be describing include the cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria, lysosomes, Golgi bodies, centrioles, endoplasmic reticulum (both smooth and rough) and ribosomes. The cell membrane The cell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (Smooth ER) The smooth endoplasmic reticulum is very similar in terms of structure and chemically to the rough endoplasmic reticulum with the exception of not being able to attach ribosomes like the rough ER can. The smooth ER has more than just one main function and in simple terms these are control of calcium release within the muscle cells, breakdown of lipid soluble toxins in the liver and lipid steroid hormone synthesis. It primarily makes and process fat within a typical animal cell. The structure of the smooth ER is usually said to be tubular rather than sheet like and it may be separate from the rough ER or in some cases may in fact be an extension of it. The smooth ER is said to be most common in cells that metabolise fat and it is a continuation of the outer nuclear membrane of a cell. It is made up of a vast network of membrane which is usually covered in tubules and vesicles. Depending on the type of cells, the amount of rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum that is present within it varies somewhat greatly. Endoplasmic means inside of the cytoplasm and the term reticulum means network. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (Rough ER) The surface of the rough endoplasmic reticulum is covered in ribosomes which are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is true, college students battle to go to college. A book that I read They Say, I say mentions, many families are indeed struggling, in depths of recession, to pay for their children s college eduction. (Sanford, 191). Paying for college funds affect families as well as the student. The title provides the basic to justifying the claim. The title can grave the readers attention in the first paragraph or have them hurtle away. The title of Sanford, The New Liberal Arts catches the readers attention. The word New made the reader want to know what was the new liberal arts. So the reader will dig into the first page to find out what the new liberal arts is. The claim is what the writer is trying to say to the reader also know as the main idea of the reading. Sanford s claim is that liberal arts is a better investment based on his experience although is cost the most. Sanford say, a liberal arts degree is a luxury that most families no longer afford. That being said Sanford claim is strong because he gives examples to support his claim throughout the chapter. An arguable opposition was that students are taking shorts cuts to well paying job. Although this may be a good idea they are job that may have a deed end. Sanford disagrees with taking short cuts because they do not teach critical thinking and writing ... • 7. Handguns Should Not Be Banned Handguns Gun violence, especially that as caused by handguns, is a major problem in America. It affects millions of people annually, and the effects it has are irreversible. However, this reality does not constitute for a complete ban on the private ownership of handguns. A ban on the private ownership of handguns should not be enacted on the grounds that the United States government ought to preserve democratic legitimacy and constitutionalism, and a ban is not feasible or just in America s political climate. Every day, 282 people are shot in the United States but this is not merely the result of the array of firearms available in this country. Instead, a minority of the guns that Americans own are responsible for much of this violence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation reveals that from 1990 to 1997, 90,000 of the 147,000 suicides committed were committed with a firearm―a tribute to the handgun s operational simplicity and effectivity. Overall, handguns are responsible for seventy percent of firearm suicides. Douglas Wiebe of the University of California Los Angeles School of Public Health conducted a nationally representative study which revealed that ninety four percent of gun related suicides would not have occurred had a gun not been present. A motley of international examples provide proof of concept for a national handgun ban. For example, the Australian prime minister announced in 1996 that Australia would be enacting a national handgun ban, and guns would be collected through a gun buyback program. This resulted in the confiscation of 650,000 guns, a forty two percent drop in the homicide rate, and a fifty seven percent drop in the firearm suicide rate. In addition, no mass shootings have occurred since the ban, a sharp contrast to the thirteen shootings that took place in the thirteen years before. The homicide rate also fell to less than one per one hundred thousand, while the United States hovers at five per one hundred thousand. Question 1 Using HIV/AIDS as an example to discuss why public health authorities need to conduct public health surveillance and to describe how surveillance system is managed in Australia (9 marks) (Up to 800 words) Public health surveillance is defined as the ongoing systematic collection, collation, analysis and interpretation of outcome specific data for public health purposes, closely integrated with the timely dissemination of public health information for assessment and public health response for preventing and controlling disease as necessary (Thacker Stroup; Thacker et al.1994; World Health Assembly, 2005). The surveillance method used for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infections in Australia is similar to these methods used for other diseases, aiming at reducing high risk behaviors, lowering the incidence of transmission and infection. Firstly, the surveillance system for HIV/AIDS draws a unique epidemiological picture of magnitude and trends in the prevalence of infection, resource allocation, targeted groups and risk behavior over time. It describes the pattern of transmission of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and other specific sexually transmissible infections. These rivers are homes to many fish, amphibians, invertebrates, and other animals. Not only do aquatic animals live in these rivers, plenty of aquatic plants live there too (Chesapeake Bay Program n.d.). There are many factors that could affect the health of the Chesapeake Bay including litter, debris, sediment pollution, chemical contaminants, and any man made objects (Chesapeake Bay Program n.d.). Any litter and debris will work its way up to the Bay from the rivers and smother any grass beds along with bottom dwelling creators and add chemical contaminants to the water. Data encryption describes the transformation of plain text into a different format that is meaningless read by human eye without being decrypted, so called cipher text, in order to prevent any unauthorized party to obtain information from the document. According to the Webster dictionary, cryptography is the practice and study of data encryption and decryption encoding data so that it can only be decoded by specific individuals. Intaglio was used by Assyrian merchants to identify themselves in their business transactions. The idea of intaglio is very brilliant and people around the world started to use intaglio in their trade businesses and even as a popular form of identifications in any written documents in human history until the past century. In fact, the concept of Intaglio is so good that modern technology created digital signature based on it. Following, there were many other significant inventions and progresses in the cryptography history: Skytales by Greeks, long leather strips that wrapped around when the person writes and reads; Nomenclator, manipulations of alphabets and etc. Notice that the US had not yet been mentioned in the ancient history of cryptography. The US did not contribute much at all to the growth until 18th century AD. In 1790, Thomas Jefferson invented a wheel cipher with the help of mathematician Dr. Robert Patterson. This wheel cipher is an elaborate form of code system and this invention make Thomas Jefferson the pioneer of American Cryptography. This invention was later on enhanced and modified; a couple generations later, it was used in World War II. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Free Will In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden It seems that as a race, humans are entangled in the never ending battle between edacity and altruism, repeating the same mistakes and duplicating the poor decisions of those before them until they are empowered enough to believe in their own free will. It is this free will and ability to triumph that is known to us as timshel, which is one of the more central ideas about men and sin that the Steinbeck novel East of Eden embodies. It is by far the most conspicuous and pronounced of any of the arguments Steinbeck makes, and this can be attributed to its timeless relevancy. This is a parallel to Adam s clouded vision of Cathy. Aron refuses to accept anything but an idealized story for himself and and is therefore unable to embrace the reality of life, which explains his grief at Stanford considering that What he had expected to find at the university had been vague and beautiful. His picture―never really inspected―had been of clean eyed young men and immaculate women... (520). What he actually finds is reality, which isn t atrocious, but compared to Aron s rendition of life, the situation disappoints, leaving him with a feeling of dissatisfaction despite the amount of love he receives. Aron is perpetually frustrated with his father for the same reason. • 12. Medieval Vs. Renaissance Philosophy Collin Kwasigroch Dr. Molvarec History 1002 9/29/17 Medieval Vs Renaissance Philosophy The Medieval Era was a time dominated by belief. People lived with such great superstition and fear of God. Many people were focused not on their lives her on earth, but rather their life after death. During the Renaissance people became more humanistic and focused more on their lives in the moment rather than their afterlife. We can see these changes of Ideas by studying the works of Saint Anselm of Canterbury, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Thomas a Kempis, and Caesarius of Heisterbach from the Medieval Era and compare it to the works of Marsilio Ficino, Leonardo Da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli, and Desiderius Erasmus of the Renaissance period we can see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here Aquinas argues that everything that happens is the cause of something, but nothing can cause itself. If we trace back a cause all the way back to the beginning of the world, it could not have caused itself. Therefore, God must have been the first cause. Aquinas third proof is the Argument from Contingency. We see that everything here on earth is finite. People die, empires fall. All things must come to an end. That means things had to have a beginning where nothing was in existence yet. How did things come into existence? God. Aquinas s 4th argument is the Argument of Degrees. Here we judge things to be a certain degree of good or bad. But what are we comparing that to? If they have a certain degree of good and bad, then what is the greatest degree of good? And that must be God. Aquinas s final argument is his Argument from Design. Perhaps one of his strongest arguments Aquinas says that there must be an intelligent designer behind everything. Random objects don t have any brains to act the way they do. But they are directed in the way they act by God. Thomas a Kempis is famous for his work in The Imitation of Christ. The book is one of the most famous devotional books for Christians right after the Bible. In his book he tells the common folk how to live like Christ (Hence the name Imitation of Christ ). Crucial Steps in Combating the Aids Epidemic; Identify All the Carriers. New York Times: 18 March 1986. Bowers v. Hardwick 478 U.S. 186 (1986). Ideas about sex, gender and homosexuality have been changing rapidly over the past several decades in the United States. There are several obvious reasons for this. The primary one is legal: various legal decisions by the United States Supreme Court have altered existing law on the subject of sex and homosexuality, and substantially affected matters of gender as expressed in law. But there has also been a social shift driven by medicine, largely based on response to the AIDS epidemic at its height in the 1980s and 1990s, but also in terms of other medical matters such as contraception and abortion. To a certain degree, seeing how these matters have progressed since the 1960s gives a good vantage to predicting where they will go in the future. In conclusion, I will look at the future of change on these matters, by examining what seems to be the avant garde regarding matters of sex and gender, the phenomenon of transsexualism. I hope an examination of transsexualism will point out some of the contradictions that still continue to exist in American ideas about matters of sex. We are accustomed to referring to a sexual revolution in the 1960s, but the actual consequences of that social shift were necessarily reflected in the law. To a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nursing has dramatically evolved in recent history in response to the changes in society, the healthcare system as well as to the evolution of the profession itself. Changes include: an aging and more diverse population, changing reimbursement practices, new technology and scientific discoveries, new diseases related to social and environmental problems. Changes in nursing roles represent a shift in the view of nursing from simply an occupation or job to a profession with a commitment to the role (Blais amp; Hayes, 2011). Changes in the healthcare system affect society s expectation of nursing care. Due to these high expectations, nurses are returning to school in order to satisfy these prospects and are more effective in their roles. It is a class of database management systems that are used for non relational database. Typically NoSQL database does not use two dimensional table to store data. The four generally categories of NoSQL database are key values database, column databases, document databases, and graph databases [2]. NoSQL database is an indispensable part of big data. Most company choose NoSQL database because it yields better performance when compared to relation database. Many relational databases have been existing for more than 20 years, while most NoSQL databases have a history of less than 5 years. Because NoSQL databases are so young, they exposes lots of security issues. Many NoSQL databases are still focusing on adding features and improving performance, while strength security mechanism is still a low priority task. There were already two data breaches happened in companies that are using NoSQL databases (MongoHQ in 2013 and LinkedIn in 2012 [3]). Detailed result NoSQL database characteristics The problem of relational database is that its performance degrade significantly while handling exponential growth of semi structured data or unstructured data [4]. • 17. Traditional Vs. Online Education Compare and Contrast Traditional vs. Online As this world s technology is progressing so is the way we teach and learn. Ever since school started hundreds of years ago it s always been a teacher in a live classroom with many students. Everything is shifting, however; and now we have transitioned into online classes as well. I have had both, and I can tell you there are many comparisons and contrasts between the two. 77% of educators believe that online learning is just as good as traditional learning, if not better, nearly 70% of all students claim online instruction to be as good as or better than a traditional classroom setting, and 26% of online students claim to learn better online than in a classroom. So clearly people aren t too against this new form of learning. Online enrollment rates are expanding at much faster rates than traditional classroom enrollment growth; specifically, in higher education, online enrollments have grown 21%, whereas growth for traditional classroom instruction registers only 2% since 2002. Traditional and Online classes have a lot of similarities and differences especially in areas like flexibility, comprehension of the course material, and discipline. Traditional is what I had my entire life up until I entered high school. It is what I prefer out of both choices. I learn from one on one interaction, and that is something that online doesn t have. In traditional there is not very much flexibility because of several reasons. Classes are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. The Book Of Revelation, By The Old Testament And The New... The Book of Revelation is conceivably the most fascinating of all the books in the Bible. It is a book that prophesies about the signs pointing to the world s conditions just before the return of Jesus Chris, and how each stage prepares for this up and coming event. Because prophecy is a large percentage of the Bible, people say that the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed . Through the prophets, Scripture reveals a redeemer and the name of Messiah. They foretell about Christ s birth, death and resurrection in the Old Testament and the New Testament retells His real life stories. Because of this, a large part of the prophecy in both the Old and New Testament according to Christians has been fulfilled. Yet, the Book of Revelation, the last book is a writing of indistinguishable forces and mystical powers at work in the world as Satan sets up the stages for the return of the Savior, Jesus Christ. There are many fantastic subjects in Biblical prophecy. They set up the One Dimensional Kinematics in the historical events like motions setting people up in a straight line leading all the verses to a real time realization. My goal for this class was to learn the process of stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different aspects, I feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this, the tools needed was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass. Using the ball cutter, you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After that is made, take the pliers to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What you do is align the cut with the line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The grozing pliers are used for non straight cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your hand as the other and go on either side of the score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first struggled with figuring out how to position my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the glass, and the angle to put my hand. Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass that had a curved score. Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At one point I ended up deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the pieces cut. After all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. • 24. The Influence Of Homer s Odyssey On Margaret Atwood Explain the influence of Homer s Odyssey on Margaret Atwood. It is very clear that Atwood was influenced by The Odyssey when writing The Penelopiad. After reading The Odyssey, it left Atwood with more questions than answers about the maids and Penelope. Atwood waned to explore the poem from a female perspective. Atwood found many inconstancies in the story of the maids which she wanted to explore. She also wanted to explore Penelope s role as a wife, mother and materfamilias. Margaret Atwood said that after reading The Odyssey she had two questions; what led to the hanging of the maids and what was Penelope really up to? In writing The Penelopiad, she felt she was able to answer those questions. Atwood acknowledged that The Odyssey recorded by Homer in a Patriarchal time period. This helped to shape and influence her desire to find out the answers to her questions and inspired her to write The Penelopiad with a modern perspective. I believe The Penelopiad was loosely based on some of the events that take place in The Odyssey. It is a re interpretation of Penelope s life story, including her early childhood, marriage, the events leading up to the hanging of the twelve maids and the reuniting of Odysseus and Penelope. Penelope, through Atwood, retells her story from the Greek underworld. She wanted to break the cultural myths and stereotypes about women that Homer had portrayed in The Odyssey. For some of these predictors, theoretical explanations have been proposed. Various researchers have conducted investigations into the many aspects of this type of relationship and have concluded that an increase in interracial marriages has occurred. This increase may be the result of numerous factors, including the Supreme Court lifting of the legal restrictions on racial intermarriage in 1967, the decrease in White prejudice against Blacks, and the narrowing of the racial gap in education, income, and occupation (Kalmijn 1993). Giannetti divides this theoretical study into four different types of film history: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social. • 32. An Analysis Of Jeremy Bentham, White And Haine An initial design of Jeremy Bentham, White and Haine noted how the panopticon for Foucault was a metaphor for the architectural figure of the disciplinary composition identified in the plague.15 In summary, the panopticon is a circular architectural structure where the cells are arranged around a central viewing tower in a manner that ensures permanent visibility.16 Resisting any reliance on physical instruments of control (other than the architectural structure and geometrics of the building), the panopticon installs a repressive system based on a principle of permanent surveillance which ensures the functioning of power .17 Semple reinforced this point, noting that Foucault elevated the panopticon because it was the instrument of transformation; it becoming the emblem of modern disciplinary power.18 It automised and disindividualised power, with a real subjection born mechanically from a fictitious relation.19 For Foucault, the panopticon was also a mechanism that created an environment that could be used to experiment, alter behaviour and to train/correct individuals. An observer in the panopticon allowed one to carry out experiments on its subjects, study behaviour and analyse actions. The plague stricken town undoubtedly conveyed an exceptional disciplinary model: violently perfect, the effective exercise of the right of the sword.20 It was an image of discipline blockade , the enclosed institution established on the fringe of society.21 The panopticon however, was ...
