Civic Engagement Survey
Regarding the Stanford Pathways of Public Service and Civic Engagement survey, I have mixed
feelings. Although I agree with my results and have minimal difficulty in making sense of my
results, I feel that the information is not in depth enough to truly be extremely helpful. My
results personally show that I have had the most experience with activisim as a form of public
service/civic engagement. I have some experience with all of the kinds of public service/civic
engagement, except for social entrepreneurship. This can largely be accounted by the fact that I
grew up in a rural area and rarely went into town, which meant my interactions with business have
always been limited. I also simply do not think that I would be quite effective in helping my
community through this specific field. Ultimately, the actions which I find most useful in help are
direct and policy, the first of which I intend on pursuing more in college than I did previously; the
latter I intend to pursue to a similar degree as in high school. I... Show more content on

I struggled to answer some of the questions because there was no room for grey area in how you
felt. Regarding the impact section, the results jumped dramatically from a lot, to some, to little,
to none. I wish that, as opposed to this type of system, our responses could have been measured
on a numeric scale, which enables more grey area. I would like to rank things because I feel that
all of these things have different degrees of impact, different degrees of which I want to partake in
them, etc.; however, I am not given the option to truly rank them like this. Not only are there some
things that I think might have an impact somewhere between little and some, but there are also
some things tha I would like to simply attempt in school. For these activities, it would be
preferential, if I had the opportunity to state something lower than little but not none. If the scale
was numeric, this would be

Evolution Of Animal Research Paper
Animal Phylum Evolution
In this research paper, I m going to be discussing the evolution of animals and how things have
changed to make them more complex throughout history. I m going to discuss what types of
phyla there are and how their body systems work. First, I m going to discuss is the phyla
Protists. Some protists are autotrophs, a photosynthetic group of phyla referred to as the algae.
Some protists are heterotrophs. Heterotrophs get their energy by consuming other organisms.
Protists reproduce asexually by binary fission, and a few species are capable of sexual
reproduction. Protists are so small they don t have any special organs to exchange gases or get rid
of waste. They rely on diffusion which is movement from a high concentration ... Show more

It s the first phyla most people are familiar with. The phylum is made up of mostly vertebrates. All
chordates have pharyngeal slits (filter feeding organs), dorsal nerve cord (hollow cord to the
notochord), notochord (a skeletal rod supporting the body) and a post anal tail (a body part that
runs past the anal opening.) They have a brain and a central nervous system. As for their digestive
system, they have a 1 way stomach. Now we have the seventh phyla, Osteichthyes and
Chondrichthyes. Osteichthyes have a bony exoskeleton. They have gills that are covered by
operculum. They have a swim bladder and fertilization is external for them. Examples of
osteichthyes are salmon, sea horse and trout. Chondrichthyes have some differences. Their
endoskeleton is made of cartilage. Their gills are exposed to the outside, they do not have a
swim bladder. Lastly their fertilization is internal. Examples of chondrichthyes are sharks and
rays. They both have a two chambered heart. They both have a 1 way stomach track. Next, we
have the phylum Aves as our eighth phyla. Aves are birds. All aves are endothermic and warm
blooded animals. They lay eggs that hard and waterproof. Instead of teeth they have a beak or a
bill. Aves are bipedal which means they only walk on two legs. Their forelimbs are developed into
wings and most members of the phyla are highly adapted for

instruments, including the piano, two clarinets, the flute, two horns, two bassoons, and string

When the Exposition theme is restated as part of the movement, it is known as the Recapitulation.
In Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488, the Recapitulation is when the soloist is
accompanied by the orchestra. There are many similarities between the exposition description and
the recapitulation description. However, there are also quite a few differences. The first theme
group in the exposition lasts from measures one through sixty six, whereas the first theme group in
the recapitulation lasts from measures begins at measure one hundred and ninety eight, and then
ends at two hundred and eighty four. The first theme group of the exposition has a two bar cadential
extension with a sixteen bar double period. Many wonder how the first theme in the recapitulation
is derived from the exposition? That is because there is and exposition version of the variation that
has no extensions. In the Exposition, the transition lasts from measures eighteen through thirty
three. In the Recapitulation, the transition lasts from two hundred and thirteenth measure to the two
hundred and twenty eighth measure. The second theme of the recapitulation is derived from the
exposition, because the second theme of the exposition has a thirty one to forty six bar double
period, along with a seven bar shortened sentence, a three bar interpolation, and closing with a four
bar phrase. The second theme group in the recapitulation lasts from measure one hundred to one

The River and A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor
God s grace is offered to everyone no matter what his or her religion, or lack thereof. The real
obstacle is whether or not the offered grace is realized and accepted. In The River by Flannery O
Connor an innocent child, Harry, is offered grace. He is clueless to what is going on, but he
knows he is not content in the life he lives now. In addition, in A Good Man Is Hard to Find O
Connor challenges the socially unworthy characters, The Misfit and the Grandmother, to find
and accept grace. God grants all of his children the opportunity to obtain grace whether they are
innocent or apparently socially unworthy. The innocent Harry and the socially unworthy
Grandmother both receive grace through violence: however, the socially unworthy Misfit is
offered grace but refuses it. God has a plan for all of his children which involves grace. Grace is
forgiveness and the only real grace comes from God. He reveals it when he is ready and in
different ways. Harry (Bevel) Ashfield in The River is a child that lacks attention from his
immoral parents and is treated as an after thought at best. He is at the mercy of his rotten parents
who treat him as nothing more than an inconvenience (Sparrow 1). In his home everything is a
joke and he is raised as if nothing matters (Sparrow 1). Although Harry is not materially deprived,
he is spiritually malnourished. He lacks the appreciation and admiration that is needed for spiritual
and moral growth from his parents (Sparrow 2).

Comparison Of A P By John Updike And A Rose For Emily
A P + A Rose for Emily A P by John Updike and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner are two
stories that are unequivocally divergent and bizarre. These stories may be odd but one similarity,
they do share is the three act structure. When following the three act structure, it helps some
authors to develop and follow a structure, in developing a better storyline more effectively. After
reading A P in comparison to A Rose for Emily
, both share an overarching theme; in the end, an
analysis of the three act structure of the better storylines, will tell who creates a better story. A P
obviously is a three act structure. The setup is the unexpurgated, of three teenaged girls through,
Sammy s, the protagonist, every interpretation. The story takes place in 1961, in a small New
England town, at A P Grocery store, on a hot summer afternoon; three girls wearing only their bikini
bathing suits, walk in causing Sammy s head to wonder with lust. The inciting incident is the fact
that the girls are inappropriate dress for the store, parading around in the store and it sets everything
into motion for the rest of the storyline.
Then everybody s luck begins to run out. Lengel comes in from haggling with a truck full of
cabbages on the lot and is about to scuttle into that door marked MANAGER behind which he
hides all day when the girls touched his eye. Lengel s pretty dreary, teaches Sunday school and the
rest, but he doesn t miss that much. He comes over and says, Girls, this isn t the beach. (Updike 433)
Act Two Then the conflict is right after that, when Lengel notices the three girls standing there to
checkout Lengel s treatment to the girls created some conflict with Sammy: protagonist; however
Lengel s heart was in the right place. Looking out for the town, both males and females, before
hormones rage and caused someone to act on a wrong impulse and got someone hurt. Whatever the
case may be, Lengel has morals obviously, playing the role of the antagonist and creating obstacles.
The rising action I feel like Sammy was more interested in examining and wanting to learn more
about Queenie than work, because he couldn t stay focused. The crisis of act two is when Lengel
asks Sammy, have you rung up

Earliest records of the Indo Aryans people are in the Rigveda. The Indo Aryans inhabiting northern
India, the bearers of the Vedic civilizationare sometimes called Vedic Aryans, precursors of
modern Hinduism. The separation of Indo Aryans proper from Proto Indo Iranians are commonly
dated, on linguistic grounds, to roughly 1800 BC. The Nuristani languages probably split in such
early times, and are either classified as remote Indo Aryan dialects, or as an independent branch of
Indo Iranian. It is believed that by 1500 BC, Indo Aryans had reached Assyria in the west and the
Punjab in the east.
The Aryans brought a completely new language and belief system to India. There was a dramatic
discontinuity between the Indus valley civilization (4000BC 2000BC) which buried its dead and
had a script which is still not deciphered and the Vedic Period which spoke Sanskrit, the world s
oldest indo European language and cremated their dead. Cremation is a very common way for

Texting Is Not Safe ! Haha
I can not discuss this now. Driving and Facebooking is not safe! Haha. were the last words of
Taylor Sauer, before her car traveling at 80 mph slammed into a tanker truck (Hosansky 407). At
just 18, a Utah State University student lost her life due to the distraction that millions of
Americans find themselves facing: smartphones. While on her way to visiting family in Idaho, one
bad decision resulted in her death. I think she was probably texting to stay awake, she was probably
tired, stated her father. But that s not a reason to do it, and the kids think they re invincible. To
them, texting is not distracting; they are so proficient at texting that they don t feel it s distracted
driving. (Hosansky 407). Taylor s father raised an essential question: Are teenagers unaware of the
damage that their favorite devices can cause if misused? Smartphones raise a serious concern,
especially among parents. This is due to both the psychological damage and danger that
smartphones place on their children whose brains are not yet fully developed. According to a study
conducted on 404 undergraduate students, three fourths felt that they are dependent on their
phones.() The increasing use and popularity of smartphones are an issue that can cause relationship
issues, safety concerns, and distractions all which can be detrimental to society. One of the most
detrimental consequences of smartphones is the distraction they promote while driving. They are

Traumatic Human Development In The Movie Boyz N The Hood
The movie Boyz N the Hood is an illustration of how a group of early adolescents lives was
affected negatively due to the environment they lived in. These adolescents lived in an
environment where drugs, gangs, and shootings were the center of their community. Living in a
predominantly African American community these adolescents were faced with many
misfortunes. Ricky one of the adolescent characters I have decided to evaluate for this
particular paper was faced with adversity. Ricky as a character displayed the effects of
understanding the traumatic human development and normal human development. Traumatic
human development is when one is open to danger and violence. One can be open to traumatic
development directly or indirectly on a centered foundation. Ricky environment exposed him
negativity. A majority of the negativity that Ricky is exposed to is gun violence, gangs, drugs
and other negativity as well. Due to his environment being looked down upon and him being an
African American male from a certain area of Los Angeles town he was viewed upon negatively
by society. For instance, a scene from the movie dictates Tre and Ricky is pulled over by cops.
The cops, one African American the main cop posed Tre and Ricky as a threat to society. Being
harassed by the cop made Tre and Ricky feel as though they had no place in of belonging in that
part of Los Angeles town. By Ricky being an African American male it was difficult enough for him
to be successful in his environment. Ricky was not as fortunate to have the resources he needed. He
was limited to many resources but, his limitation did not interfere with him having normal
development. The theories that can mainly be relative to this movie, as well as the character Ricky,
are person in environment, systems theory, and cultural theory (Newman and Newman 2012). The
first theory that can be associated with character Ricky is the person in environment theory. Person
in environment theory had some effects on Ricky. Ricky s environment consisted of drugs, gangs,
and even murders. His environment did not shape who Ricky was. His environment was his
motivation to escape. Unlike his brother Doughboy whom had gotten comfortable in the

The Global Sex Trade And Women As The Supplier Essay
The Global Sex Trade and Women as the Supplier
Introduction
Women involved or forced into sex work (prostitution) are striped of dignity and self worth they
come from poverty, migration and cultural backgrounds that face gender inequality (Bhat Pushpam,
2013, p. 3). Forced prostitution is a global problem but is more prevalent in poorer countries (True,
2013). Victims of prostitution affect women and children of all ages (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3).
The sex industry thrives making billions of dollars and is funded by investors, crooked recruiters,
and even corrupt government employees (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). Females involved in the sex
trade face inhuman treatment they are raped, demoralized, defeated and will never live a normal
life again (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). Many women will migrate across borders in search for
economic stability but instead will be coerced into sex work (Wonders Danner, 2002). Women in
poorer countries with low social class face gender inequalities mainly because of cultural and
political misguidance. Strategies that can help prevent women from forced prostitution and sex
work include higher pay, a support system for women to get an education, and government reforms
to help prevent migration and the people that keep the industry thriving.
Effects of Poverty on Women
Sex workers can exist anywhere but are primarily more prevalent in poorer countries and women
and children who participate or who are forced into sex work do so

Positive And Negative Effects Of The Industrial Age
Harsh. Unsafe. Dangerous. These are all terms to describe factories around a decade and a half
ago. This was during a time known as the Industrial Age. The Industrial Age, characterized by its
advances in technology and increase in urbanization, started in England in the late 1700s and
spread to America by the mid 1800s. The changes brought on by the Industrial Age affected the
US both positively and negatively. Workers were affected negatively. They had to work in the
harsh conditions of the factories where they were overworked and put into dangerous
environments. These conditions, however, led labour laws being put into place, changing the
US for the better The people working in factories were affected negatively negatively by the
Industrial Age. Early factory workers would have workdays up to 14 hours long (Farr). While
this was around the same length as a preindustrial workday, the amount of work done within that
time changed. Preindustrial workers worked in bursts of energy. Factory workers, on the other
hand, had to work nonstop in order to meet demands. A worker as young as 10 years old could
have a 16 hour work day with only one break (Doc 1). Even when machines broke and production
stopped, workers had to stay in the factory, though these unscheduled breaks were often used for
relaxation. These long work days were tiring for adults, but even worst for child workers. Children
as young as 6 years old were hired as factory workers. They crawled under machines to

Battle Of Britain Advantages And Disadvantages
In the summer and fall of 1940, the first major air battle of history took place after the Fall of
France in World War 2. The British fought to defend their skies against the force of the Germans.
The Battle of Britain also marked the first major defeat of Hitler s military forces during the war,
with air superiority seen as the key to victory. England and Germany viewed air power in different
ways. Germany viewed air power as support for ground forces and had no strategic bomber
development. Meanwhile, the British had an independent military service called the Royal Air Force
(RAF). The RAF had a fighter command and a bomber command. Operation Sealion was the
German plan to invade England. They gathered ships and barges in Northern France ports to
transport their invasion forces across the English Channelby ferries. Along with this, three
Luftflotte, (air fleets) were assigned to the operation. What the Germans needed was to neutralize
the Royal Air Force and gain air superiority in order to successfully invade Great Britain. The task
was given to Hermann Göring, Air Marshall of the German Luftwaffe. However, there was one
downside to this operation; the RAF must be neutralized before autumn storms made the crossing
of the English Channel impossible. The advantages and disadvantages of both the British and
Germans played key components in The Battle of Britain. The British had too few high performing
Spitfires and too many Hurricanes. They did not have enough trained

Regardless of her opinion, the audiences she reaches out to, take her stand point on what she

project she conducted, Ehrenreich vividly describes her experience as a server at a restaurant in
Florida. This chapter is specifically for the upper middle and upper classes to show that minimum

house for herself, instead she has been living in a trailer. She reiterates that not only working
conditions of the lower class are a factor to their poverty, but living conditions for the poor aren t
as pleasant as they are for the upper middle class. She follows with another restriction that rises
after a coworker of hers spends too much time at a bar. The employee turns out to be another

because the environment that lower class employees live in tends to drive them to getting drunk,

Ehrenreich explains this specific example because it presents how not only one employee is
effected by a wrongdoing, but all of them are. Ehrenreich next moves on to explain that one of
her coworkers was desperate enough to break into one of the storage rooms. This coworker just
so happens to be her friend who lives with a number of other Czech dishwashers. According to
Ehrenreich, he also, cannot sleep until one of them goes off for [their] shift, leaving a vacant bed .
With these living conditions, her friend must have a hard time getting what he needs to survive.
Ehrenreich uses this example to exemplify the meaning of sharing living quarters with so many
other people where supplies are scarce. The only other option the lower class employees have to
provide for themselves is usually stealing, which her friend got caught

Prior to examining the specific geographical features of Plaster Creek, it is important to
understand what a creek is. There are many different ideas of what a creek is. In order to gain a
factual understanding of what a creek essentially is, the dictionary definition of, a natural stream
of water normally smaller than and often tributary to a river can be examined (Merrian Webster).
In addition to this, National Geographic defines a creed as simply, any body of flowing fluid
(National Geographic). Creeks can vary greatly in size and are shaped by its surrounding
geography. Now that the definition of streamhas been defined and a few of its key characteristics

Like surrounding regions of west Michigan, Lake Michigan plays a role in the climate of Plaster
Creek. Lake Michigan s effect on temperatures results in slightly warmer winters and cooler
summers. This can be displayed in the average winter temperature of Plaster Creek which was
recorded to be twenty two degrees fahrenheit and an average summer temperature of seventy one
degrees fahrenheit. The climate surrounding Plaster Creek receives a fair amount of
precipitation, with average rainfall totaling approximately thirty six inches and an average
snowfall which is estimated to be about seventy eight inches. The topography surrounding this
twenty six mile stream varies greatly. One element that unifies the topography of Plaster Creek
is the presence of large rocks and boulders. This is a consistent element of Plaster Creek s
topography is a result of glacial movement in the area. The human characteristics that add to the
place of Plaster Creek are mainly composed of bridges and walking trails. In two different

The Odessa Steps Sequence
Sergei Eisenstein was a Soviet film director, who directed Battleship Potemkin. A famous scene in
the film is the Odessa Steps sequence. The Odessa Steps sequence is an example of Eisensteinian
attractions, which is a tactic that is used to shock or jolt the audience, mainly through editing. The
scene I am describing is segment C. Segment C is the scene that consists of the cherub statues, the
collapsing iron gate, and the lion statues. Segment C consists of nine shots. The first shot is a
cherub extending its right arm above its head to reach a club. The cherub is looking straight ahead.
Additionally, the cherub is sitting with its legs wide open. The second shot in the segment is
another cherub looking to the left. The cherub is grasping... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Yes, the narrative is disrupted by the cherubs and the lion statues, but compared to the other
segments the cherubs and the lion statues do not intensify the shots of the iron gate collapsing
compared to the occurrences in segment B and segment A, where those shots together build upon
the intensity of the shots within their own segments. In segment B the shots continue to intensify
the narrative especially seeing the helpless baby in the carriage on the cusp of descending down
the steps, and then the solider slashing people with his saber, and the woman who was shot in the
eye. In my opinion, these all continue to intensify the narrative because the shots are brief but it s
all shocking and addresses the spectator especially when the woman who is shot in the eye looks at
the camera in horror. Segment B continues to shock one, whereas segment C disrupts the continuity
of the scene. Segment A is also disruptive like segment C because of the title that says and
suddenly, and the lady who is shaking her head and yelling, and then the lady with the white parasol
heading toward the camera, although this is disruptive it also intensifies the narrative because the
narrative completely switches from the people waving to the people beginning to run for their

However, also in the decades before 1992, the principle influenced to a large extent the evolution of
the European Communities.
As P. De Pasquale lines out, there had been an increasingly frequent recourse to Article 235 of the
EC treaty (later on art. 308 EC), which enhances the competences of the Community for the purpose
of crating a common market . The Community exercised its power in fields that where not
explicitly listed in any Treaty, but which it identified as sensible sectors (e.g. monetary policy). This
ambiguous development alarmed the Member States that subsequently pointed out the principle of
subsidiarity, as they wanted to secure their protagonist role within the process of European
integration.
The first functional achievements for the Member States took place at the beginnings of the 70s
with the so called Tindeman report. In this report of the Commission on the European Union (5
/1975) the principle is explicitly mentioned. It contains the idea that the objective of the Community
should not be becoming a centralized super state , but rather should concentrate on attributing more
powers to regional and national institutions.
A second weighty step was taken through a draft resolution (Draft Treaty Establishing the
European Union) written by A. Spinelli, adopted by the European Parliament in 1984. Again, it
was affirmed that the Union should be regarded as a proper juridical person whose

few days, don t expect to walk quickly. You will probably have to shuffle for a bit at first due to
the limited mobility and flexibility. Even with this, patients should try to walk as much as possible
and pump their legs to avoid the formation of blood clots.
Limiting activities
Activities are limited to the kinds that don t involve tensing of their abdominal musculature. This
consists of activity like calisthenics or lifting weights and absolutely no jogging or Boot Camp
style workouts. Patients can walk as often as they feel confident and they are allowed to climb
stairs. We suggest that they don t do any rigorous exercises for a full 3 months in order to maintain
the internal corset like impact of the surgery. During the healing process, you want to avoid the
unintentional release of the sutures that tighten the muscles, which could cause a bump in the belly.
This might result in a second surgery for correction.

Pain could be a recurring problem due to the tightening up of the abdominal musculature that takes
place and also due to the fact that these surgical procedures are usually combined with some kind of
liposuction of the midsection on the love handles and in the back. Usually, patients will get pain in
the front part as well as in the back part of their torso, making it tricky to get into a comfortable

Cult Classic Essay
What makes a film a cult classic? What makes a bunch of films belong to the same cult classic? I
found myself asking the same question a couple of days ago, only to to get bombarded by my own
memory of three distinct movies, which just happened to have the same composer: Requiem For A
Dream, Moon and The Fountain. Coincidence? I think not.
These three films are as psychologically triggering as they re visually stunning. But the most
important aspect here is the accompanied music. The three main scores which were written by the
same person for three different movies that just happen to end up being huge cult classics.
First, let s talk about Requiem For a Dream: The whole story is about how addiction is more than
just self medicating. Addiction, as a concept in the movie (and in reality) can be linked to virtually
any substance or activity human beings consume, the movie shows that in the most beautifully ...

As a movie, it is really hard to come to good terms with it, as one critic said Its supporters admire
the film s beauty and daring; its detractors find it overblown and hokey . The film is, more or
less, an audiovisual version of Möbius strip, or if I may say, the poorer but still rich prequel of
Cloud Atlas. Whatever one might think about it, the score itself is Clint Mansell s best work, it
moves right along the film across time and space to be a multi layered piece of astonishing
creativity. The Last Man is the main score, with its string exclusive passive theme, the piece
ascends us as the main character ascends through the fabric of reality. Death is The Road to Awe,
on the other hand, is not as gloomy as one might guess from its title. It s been used in the crucial
moment of when the character discoverers his inability to do anything about...well, anything!
Somehow, the piece makes that scene a bit more emotionally tolerable as it gives it the integrity of
being not sad, but sadly

Analysis of Women in the Book of Judges Essay
When interpreting the Hebrew Bible from a feminist perspective, many are quick to decry the
subjugation of women at the hands of men and the lack of female representation in dominant roles
in biblical literature. However, although some women are objectified or possibly marginalized, this
claim of inequality does not always hold true. Especially in the book of Judges, women are not
discarded as characters and are not wholly unappreciated. In fact, the book of Judges features
many strong female characters who serve in significant roles, and who are effectively portrayed as
leaders, heroes, and capable, resourceful individuals. An excellent example of an influential woman
in Judges is Deborah. From the beginning, Deborah is identified... Show more content on

It is even Deborah herself who gives the call to charge against Sisera s army, while Barak and his
soldiers comply. In Judges 5, commonly referred to as the Song of Deborah , praises are sung in
honor of this female military leader, who acts as a mother in Israel. Some scholars have even noted
parallels drawn between Deborah and the Canaanite war goddess, Anat (Ackerman 177).
Additionally, Deborah is respected as a religious figure. For example, Barak refuses to go to war
without Deborah by his side. According to Jo Ann Hackett, Barak s refusal to fight without the
presence of Deborah is not indicative of his ineptitude or of her military prowess. Rather, Hackett
proposes that Barak requests Deborah s participation because, as a prophetess and as a leader
chosen by the Lord, her presence indicates divine support (Hackett 357). If Deborah were visible to
the Israelite soldiers, morale would be lifted with the thought that the Lord would deliver the enemy
into their hands. This shows that Deborah is thought to represent the will of God.
Rabbi Steinsaltz notes that the phenomenon of prophetesses in the history of nations is usually
relegated to women who are outside the circle of life (e.g. hermitesses, or virgins dedicated to this
specific role) (Shapira 28). Deborah, however, is an exception. Although she is a prophetess, she is
also relevant in society, and fulfills multiple roles. She successfully leads the charge

Glucosamine Case Study
If you have an older dog, he or she may be affected by arthritis, which is a common problem in
older dogs. Some of the signs include lethargy, a reluctance to move around, and visible signs of
pain when touched. One effective solution is glucosamine, a supplement that has been proven to be
effective in fighting this problem. It works by building up the cartilage, allowing the dogto enjoy
being able to move around once more.
If you are considering this option for your dogs, check with your vet before doing anything, as
your dog may need to have sulfate, HCL or 2KCL glucosamine. Regardless, a low quality product
will not be as effective, and you should ensure that the product you use was produced in a GMP
certified plant and is of high quality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A second opinion from another vet is often a good idea, especially if your dog seems to be very
sick, and a double dosage of the drug for the initial four to six week period is generally
recommended by most vets. Over time, the dosage amount can be reduced as your dog shows signs
of improvement.
How Effective Is It?
There are various factors that determine the right glucosamine dosage for dogs and the dog s
weight is one of the most important. The following are meant to be guidelines only, and your vet
will be able to advise on the dosage that is both safe and effective. A maximum of 300 mg of
glucosamine should be given to a dog weighing under 10 pounds, while twice this amount can be
administered to dogs weighing between 11 and 29 pounds. A dog that weighs from 30 to 59 pounds
should be given 1200 mg, while a dosage of 1800 mg is recommended for a dog weighing from 60
to 120 pounds.
Once you start giving your dog this product, it will generally be several weeks before you start to
notice signs of improvement, and you should not expect to see results overnight. The original
dosage may be too low if you do not see any signs of improvement after about a month, or it could
mean that your dog also should be prescribed anti inflammatory

Approaches to Leadership
There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the
style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I
approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a
transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination
of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is
the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382).
Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest
leadership styles. Leaders using this style fail to be engaged with the employees unless and until

Speech On Fashion Designer Handbags
Selecting Fashion Designer Handbags To Enhance Your Beauty
When you have a vital arrangement, how would you finish your outfit? Possibly with a fine
arrangement of gems? A couple of designer shoes? What about a bag? Obviously, no lady of
fashion will ever go out without a bag or purse to contain some of her own assets. There is a
purse to run with any outfit that a lady may wear. A purse is, by a wide margin, the handiest frill
at any point used by ladies without leaving fashion. Truly, fashion designer handbags really exist
to serve distinctive capacities for ladies. Regardless of whether the issue is a straightforward day

Some come inexpensively labeled while others are to a great degree costly. However, what is
this fever over stylish designer handbags? Why are ladies of any age going gaga over these
things? They have captivated ladies of all kinds of different backgrounds, and a considerable lot of
these ladies don t scrutinize the cost. Unquestionably, there couldn t be a distinction so critical that
it would legitimize spending such a great amount on such a thing!
Designer handbags are, in truth, the same as whatever other sort of tote. Costly or not, they are

The truth is that a designer name has an inseparable tie to the fever over designer handbags.

Serebrier 9th Symphony
A bit close to a decade ago, I confessed to a friend and fellow reviewer, Julian Grant, who graced
these Amazon pages with his own informative and thought provoking reviews I took the pleasure
in reading, of how dissatisfied I was in music programmes particularly in America s concert halls. I
was ranting about how too little we were exposed to the great composers like Glazunov, Atterberg,
Nielsen, Popov, Myaskovsky, and others and the need to rectify that in part by not overplaying the
familiar Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Beethoven, et al. in these halls. But Julian Grant put the matter into
perspective in reminding me that repeated listening is a complex ingredient in music appreciation.
It is indeed amazing, now that I am thinking about it, of how... Show more content on

It is indeed a despondent, anguish work, written (in 1910 originally for piano) at the time in
Russian history where violence and uncertainties abounded. Its bleak language is very much akin to
that of his Two Prelude Improvisations (1918) for pianoforte where conditions were even more
precarious. Truth to tell, I cannot think of a more striking, penetrating orchestral realization of the
work s profound sense of melancholy and dreariness than Gavriil Yudin s. And Serebrier brings
these attributes movingly, with the menacing flutes, prominent in the middle allegro moderato
section, that are perfectly caught. Come to think of it, it would ve been interesting if Glazunov s
dramatic overture The Song of Destiny is included here, for it too shows the composer s changing
musical persona under the conditions he was in.
But be that as it may, this album, extremely well recorded and reverberant, caps what is now the
most absorbing, revelatory, thought provoking, satisfyingly searching Glazunov symphony cycle to
date (and imagine that admirable sense of preparation and knowledge of these symphonies in
the performances of them that took place in just four days June 2 5, 2009). And while some will
take issue with Serebrier s essay where he uses the Bernstein/Mahler series as an example of how
much of a revelation a series like this is (or how much it can be), I for one will not pose an

Social And Social Structure Theory
Social Structure Theory Introduction The social structure theory deliberates delinquency as a
gathering of the person s dealings with numerous groups, organizations, and process in the society.
Any person irrespective of their prominence in life is likely to become delinquents if they continue
with negative social affiliations. Every aspect of the society, social and economic must be viewed
using the social structure theories to find the cause of crime and deviance. The social structure
theories consist of four types which include social disorganization theory, anomie theory,
differential association theory, and labeling theory. Several theories offer different answers to this

He contended that the financial base considerably resolute the social and political framework of a
humanity. Consequent Marxist elucidations put forward a more complex connection that
emphasized the relative objectivity of social and political groups, and an inclusive purpose by
financial facets only (Mason, 2013). In 1905, the German sociologist Ferdinand Tönnies argued in
his study that merely the constitution of a crowd into an accord generates a societal organization
(Triplett, 2014). Г‰mile Durkheim offered an idea that mixed social organizations and implements
a played in guaranteeing the concrete consolidation of society from side to side integration of
different parts into a cohesive and self reproducing whole. The idea of social structure was widely
advanced in the 20th century, by key aids from structuralist viewpoints drawing on the philosophies
of Claude LГ©vi Strauss, Feminist or Marxist perceptions, from functionalist perceptions such as
those established by Talcott Parsons and his supporters, or from a range of logical viewpoints
(Mason, 2013). The greatest persuasive efforts to syndicate the notion of social structure with
support are Anthony Giddens theory of structuration and Pierre Bourdieu s practice theory. This
allows him to contend that structures are neither autonomous of performers nor defining of their
conduct and which,

Goals And Characteristics Of A Crime Investigation
examples of such detectives are Sherlock Holmes with his assistant Dr Watson and our own
Indian private investigator Pradosh Chandra Mitter or simply Feluda with his assistant cousin
Topshe. There is no case on earth for them which is unsolvable and they are never defeated
except Sherlock Holmes who was defeated by a lady in the story The Scandal of Bohemia . They
are very well aware and are thorough of their approach and their cases involve little or no violence
at all. Thus these fictional detectives stand out in achieving their goals and objectives.
FUNCTIONS AND CHARACHTERSTICS OF A CRIME INVESTIGATOR
A crime investigation can be considered more effective and complete if the investigator is
experienced and has suitable knowledge of science and techniques and has a thorough
understanding of his profession. As stated earlier, each crime is unique in itself... Show more

began writing a new genre called the crime fiction. The stories of crime fiction include real life
cases, murder thrillers, clue puzzle stories etc. The first work of this genre was Moll Flanders
which was a novel by Daniel Defoe which was published in 1722. The stories caught up with the
readers as it gave them a chance to use their own brain and imagination hereby involving
themselves completely with the stories. This genre grew popular and in the later years many
writers began writing detective and crime stories. Prominent writers of this genre were Emilie

Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent People Essay
Unfortunately, wrongful convictions of innocent people sometimes happen in the criminal justice
system. According to a new report from the University of Michigan Law School s National
Registry of Exonerations, 2015 set a record for the number of wrongly convicted Americans who
received justice; 149 people who were either declared innocent or cleared of their convictions or
guilty pleas. Many of them had already served long prison terms for crimes they did not commit
(Mencimer, 2016.)
There are many causes that can contribute to a wrongful conviction. Witness misidentification is the
most common cause; we know that the human mind is not like a tape recorder, and can make
mistakes. Forensic analysts presenting evidence that has little or no scientific basis, false
confessions by suspects during the interrogation process, government officials taking steps to
ensure that a suspect is convicted despite poor evidence, testimony by people with incentives to
testify, and poorly prepared lawyers are just some of the other causes that can result in a wrongful
conviction. The death penalty case of Cameron Todd Willingham, of Corsicana, Texas, is one that
experts now agree that the evidence proves he was wrongfully convicted. But unfortunately, he was
already put to death by lethal injection.
On December 23, 1991, the Willingham family home was engulfed in flames. Stacey Willingham
was shopping for Christmas gifts, while Cameron Todd Willingham was home sleeping at the time

To What Extent Was the Nature of the Schlieffen Plan...
There are three main factors that would be considered as the cause of the outbreak of war in
August 1914, these including; the nature of the Schlieffen Plan, Russian mobilisation and the
arms race. The Schlieffen Plan was produced in order to defeat Germany s allies without having
to be in conflict with them all at once, this was extremely important for Germany as it was
surrounded by it s powerful allies, with both France Russia on its borders. The plan itself stated
that Germany were to defeat France at its, moving quickly before Russia were able to mobilise,
expecting the French to surrender within 6 weeks. Many have argued that the Schlieffen plan was
the sole cause of the outbreak of war as whilst the mobilisation of other countries... Show more

It s important to consider, this point as not only a possible cause of war, but in addition the
causes of the nature of the Schlieffen plan. Source 2 once again puts a lot of blame of Germany
stating Germany had really decided to force a war . As we know, this war was forced despite
negotiations between the Kaiser and the Tsar, where the Kaiser attempted to prevent Russian
mobilisation in order to carry out the Schlieffen plan. This really emphasises the aggressive nature
of the plan, in addition with the deception of the Kaiser. Overall, this source mainly agrees with
Taylor and the ideas he has put forward, however Martel goes further by suggesting that the
Alliance system also played a significant part in the cause of war. Martel states that Germany could
not permit Austria Hungary to be defeated , in reference to a war that Germany were not involved
in, but Austria, Germany s one close ally was, introducing the extremely important Dual Alliance.
This shows that Germany had no choice but to be drawn into this war, where tensions between the
Dual Alliance and Russia could occur due to the issues German issues with Slavism. Therefore, it
could be interpreted that the Schlieffen plan was in response to ongoing wars and potential
conflicts that could result. Furthermore, Martel also suggests that Germany chose this time for was

Analysis Of The Poem The Circular Chamber

The Circular Chamber
Maybe an Hour Later
I have to find it for you, a gruff voice said.
My sight came back, diffused, dim dreamlike. A ghost drifted beside me in a billowy blouse, navy
breeches, stockings, and buckled boots. His hair long and loose and peacock blue was gathering a
lace of dust. He was blurred as ghosts often are, but his voice was clear.
Captain McBride, I thought. But that s impossible. He s dead, which means . . . I m dead too?
Don t fret, child. He reached out and brushed his ghostly fingers across my cheek. I m going to

I crept the rest of the way through and stumbled out into the stone space. I must have looked like a
dirty coal miner, but Bane was too interested in the Sade Stone to pay me much attention.
It s about time, he said.
Sorry, for the delay. The Stone s inside, I muttered, handing him the flashlight.
He took several long strides, stopped, and eyed me suspiciously.
Breathe, I told myself. He s a man, not a monster.
Is this another one of your tricks?
No, I replied.
No, sir, he corrected.
Sir, I repeated.
He unscrewed the cylinder cap and dumped the pebbles into his hand. You re so done.
I turned to run, wondering if I d appear on a milk carton someday soon a blond kid, hands clasped
over my doughnut shaped mouth as a madman chased after me.
I reached the corridor with the low ceiling just as Bane rounded the corner. In seconds, my
sneakers crossed laces with his tennis shoes, and our combined forward momentum carried us
through in a tangle of elbows and knees and a sudden frenzy of flying rocks. I hit the mine floor
rolling like a girl shaped soccer ball.

Election Text Analysis Essay
Election Text Messaging Content Strategy Guide Election Text Messaging Content Strategy
Guide The next big idea in political campaigning is text messaging because operatives can reach
supporters with timely messages that people open and read. The costs are negligible when
compared with traditional advertising or even the low prices of email and social media
campaigns. The only major risk is overusing the medium by sending too many texts. Sending about
four messages a month is the maximum limit, and political campaigns should send at least two
messages per month to keep supporters engaged. Elections turn on getting the voters attention, and
no advertising strategy or medium does it better than a text message. Messages arrive directly on
people s phones no matter where they may be or what they re doing. Almost everyone with a
smartphone checks his or her messages regularly throughout the day. Mobile marketing is the
easiest and most affordable way to promote a candidate, political party or cause. However, the key
to success involves building a database of likely voters and supporters, energizing people with
compelling content and distinguishing the candidate or cause from the opposition. Content strategy
is crucial. The Changing Face of Campaign Advertising In 2008, Obama shocked the political

The Hyatt Regency Hotel, the newest hotel built in Kansas City Missouri featuring an open atrium
design at its entrance with floating walkways suspended on the second, third, and fourth floors.
Only one year after its final construction did a suspended walkway fall, injuring and killing
partygoers the night of July 17th, 1981. What may have initially appeared as an accident was the
result of many factors including the design and construction of the walkways supports, but more
importantly communication between all involved parties in its design and construction. Ethical
concerns over this tragedy were raised as well as further investigation of possible negligence
resulting in the deaths and injuries.
The original walkway was designed to have single load bearing rods that would pass through the
fourth floor walkways supporting beams, be supported with nuts and washers and hang the second
floor walkway beneath as shown in the Original Detail in figure 1 . Due to a late design change for
apparent manufacturing issues, the change was quickly implemented to the As Built design shown
in Figure 1.

  • 2. Civic Engagement Survey Regarding the Stanford Pathways of Public Service and Civic Engagement survey, I have mixed feelings. Although I agree with my results and have minimal difficulty in making sense of my results, I feel that the information is not in depth enough to truly be extremely helpful. My results personally show that I have had the most experience with activisim as a form of public service/civic engagement. I have some experience with all of the kinds of public service/civic engagement, except for social entrepreneurship. This can largely be accounted by the fact that I grew up in a rural area and rarely went into town, which meant my interactions with business have always been limited. I also simply do not think that I would be quite effective in helping my community through this specific field. Ultimately, the actions which I find most useful in help are direct and policy, the first of which I intend on pursuing more in college than I did previously; the latter I intend to pursue to a similar degree as in high school. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I struggled to answer some of the questions because there was no room for grey area in how you felt. Regarding the impact section, the results jumped dramatically from a lot, to some, to little, to none. I wish that, as opposed to this type of system, our responses could have been measured on a numeric scale, which enables more grey area. I would like to rank things because I feel that all of these things have different degrees of impact, different degrees of which I want to partake in them, etc.; however, I am not given the option to truly rank them like this. Not only are there some things that I think might have an impact somewhere between little and some, but there are also some things tha I would like to simply attempt in school. For these activities, it would be preferential, if I had the opportunity to state something lower than little but not none. If the scale was numeric, this would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evolution Of Animal Research Paper Animal Phylum Evolution In this research paper, I m going to be discussing the evolution of animals and how things have changed to make them more complex throughout history. I m going to discuss what types of phyla there are and how their body systems work. First, I m going to discuss is the phyla Protists. Some protists are autotrophs, a photosynthetic group of phyla referred to as the algae. Some protists are heterotrophs. Heterotrophs get their energy by consuming other organisms. In Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488, the Recapitulation is when the soloist is accompanied by the orchestra. There are many similarities between the exposition description and the recapitulation description. However, there are also quite a few differences. The first theme group in the exposition lasts from measures one through sixty six, whereas the first theme group in the recapitulation lasts from measures begins at measure one hundred and ninety eight, and then ends at two hundred and eighty four. The first theme group of the exposition has a two bar cadential extension with a sixteen bar double period. Many wonder how the first theme in the recapitulation is derived from the exposition? That is because there is and exposition version of the variation that has no extensions. In the Exposition, the transition lasts from measures eighteen through thirty three. In the Recapitulation, the transition lasts from two hundred and thirteenth measure to the two hundred and twenty eighth measure. The second theme of the recapitulation is derived from the exposition, because the second theme of the exposition has a thirty one to forty six bar double period, along with a seven bar shortened sentence, a three bar interpolation, and closing with a four bar phrase. • 9. The River and A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor God s grace is offered to everyone no matter what his or her religion, or lack thereof. The real obstacle is whether or not the offered grace is realized and accepted. In The River by Flannery O Connor an innocent child, Harry, is offered grace. He is clueless to what is going on, but he knows he is not content in the life he lives now. In addition, in A Good Man Is Hard to Find O Connor challenges the socially unworthy characters, The Misfit and the Grandmother, to find and accept grace. God grants all of his children the opportunity to obtain grace whether they are innocent or apparently socially unworthy. The innocent Harry and the socially unworthy Grandmother both receive grace through violence: however, the socially unworthy Misfit is offered grace but refuses it. God has a plan for all of his children which involves grace. Grace is forgiveness and the only real grace comes from God. He reveals it when he is ready and in different ways. Harry (Bevel) Ashfield in The River is a child that lacks attention from his immoral parents and is treated as an after thought at best. He is at the mercy of his rotten parents who treat him as nothing more than an inconvenience (Sparrow 1). In his home everything is a joke and he is raised as if nothing matters (Sparrow 1). Although Harry is not materially deprived, he is spiritually malnourished. He lacks the appreciation and admiration that is needed for spiritual and moral growth from his parents (Sparrow 2). ... • 10. Comparison Of A P By John Updike And A Rose For Emily A P + A Rose for Emily A P by John Updike and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner are two stories that are unequivocally divergent and bizarre. These stories may be odd but one similarity, they do share is the three act structure. When following the three act structure, it helps some authors to develop and follow a structure, in developing a better storyline more effectively. After reading A P in comparison to A Rose for Emily , both share an overarching theme; in the end, an analysis of the three act structure of the better storylines, will tell who creates a better story. The story takes place in 1961, in a small New England town, at A P Grocery store, on a hot summer afternoon; three girls wearing only their bikini bathing suits, walk in causing Sammy s head to wonder with lust. The inciting incident is the fact that the girls are inappropriate dress for the store, parading around in the store and it sets everything into motion for the rest of the storyline. Haha. were the last words of Taylor Sauer, before her car traveling at 80 mph slammed into a tanker truck (Hosansky 407). At just 18, a Utah State University student lost her life due to the distraction that millions of Americans find themselves facing: smartphones. While on her way to visiting family in Idaho, one bad decision resulted in her death. I think she was probably texting to stay awake, she was probably tired, stated her father. But that s not a reason to do it, and the kids think they re invincible. To them, texting is not distracting; they are so proficient at texting that they don t feel it s distracted driving. (Hosansky 407). Taylor s father raised an essential question: Are teenagers unaware of the damage that their favorite devices can cause if misused? Smartphones raise a serious concern, especially among parents. This is due to both the psychological damage and danger that smartphones place on their children whose brains are not yet fully developed. According to a study conducted on 404 undergraduate students, three fourths felt that they are dependent on their phones.() The increasing use and popularity of smartphones are an issue that can cause relationship issues, safety concerns, and distractions all which can be detrimental to society. • 14. Traumatic Human Development In The Movie Boyz N The Hood The movie Boyz N the Hood is an illustration of how a group of early adolescents lives was affected negatively due to the environment they lived in. These adolescents lived in an environment where drugs, gangs, and shootings were the center of their community. Living in a predominantly African American community these adolescents were faced with many misfortunes. Ricky one of the adolescent characters I have decided to evaluate for this particular paper was faced with adversity. Ricky as a character displayed the effects of understanding the traumatic human development and normal human development. Traumatic human development is when one is open to danger and violence. One can be open to traumatic development directly or indirectly on a centered foundation. Ricky environment exposed him negativity. A majority of the negativity that Ricky is exposed to is gun violence, gangs, drugs and other negativity as well. Due to his environment being looked down upon and him being an African American male from a certain area of Los Angeles town he was viewed upon negatively by society. For instance, a scene from the movie dictates Tre and Ricky is pulled over by cops. The cops, one African American the main cop posed Tre and Ricky as a threat to society. Being harassed by the cop made Tre and Ricky feel as though they had no place in of belonging in that part of Los Angeles town. By Ricky being an African American male it was difficult enough for him to be successful in his environment. Ricky was not as fortunate to have the resources he needed. He was limited to many resources but, his limitation did not interfere with him having normal development. The theories that can mainly be relative to this movie, as well as the character Ricky, are person in environment, systems theory, and cultural theory (Newman and Newman 2012). The first theory that can be associated with character Ricky is the person in environment theory. Person in environment theory had some effects on Ricky. Ricky s environment consisted of drugs, gangs, and even murders. His environment did not shape who Ricky was. His environment was his motivation to escape. The Global Sex Trade And Women As The Supplier Essay The Global Sex Trade and Women as the Supplier Introduction Women involved or forced into sex work (prostitution) are striped of dignity and self worth they come from poverty, migration and cultural backgrounds that face gender inequality (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). Forced prostitution is a global problem but is more prevalent in poorer countries (True, 2013). Victims of prostitution affect women and children of all ages (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). The sex industry thrives making billions of dollars and is funded by investors, crooked recruiters, and even corrupt government employees (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). Females involved in the sex trade face inhuman treatment they are raped, demoralized, defeated and will never live a normal life again (Bhat Pushpam, 2013, p. 3). Many women will migrate across borders in search for economic stability but instead will be coerced into sex work (Wonders Danner, 2002). Women in poorer countries with low social class face gender inequalities mainly because of cultural and political misguidance. Strategies that can help prevent women from forced prostitution and sex work include higher pay, a support system for women to get an education, and government reforms to help prevent migration and the people that keep the industry thriving. • 18. Positive And Negative Effects Of The Industrial Age Harsh. Unsafe. Dangerous. These are all terms to describe factories around a decade and a half ago. This was during a time known as the Industrial Age. The Industrial Age, characterized by its advances in technology and increase in urbanization, started in England in the late 1700s and spread to America by the mid 1800s. The changes brought on by the Industrial Age affected the US both positively and negatively. Workers were affected negatively. They had to work in the harsh conditions of the factories where they were overworked and put into dangerous environments. These conditions, however, led labour laws being put into place, changing the US for the better The people working in factories were affected negatively negatively by the Industrial Age. Early factory workers would have workdays up to 14 hours long (Farr). While this was around the same length as a preindustrial workday, the amount of work done within that time changed. Preindustrial workers worked in bursts of energy. Factory workers, on the other hand, had to work nonstop in order to meet demands. A worker as young as 10 years old could have a 16 hour work day with only one break (Doc 1). Even when machines broke and production stopped, workers had to stay in the factory, though these unscheduled breaks were often used for relaxation. These long work days were tiring for adults, but even worst for child workers. Children as young as 6 years old were hired as factory workers. They crawled under machines to ... The British fought to defend their skies against the force of the Germans. The Battle of Britain also marked the first major defeat of Hitler s military forces during the war, with air superiority seen as the key to victory. England and Germany viewed air power in different ways. Germany viewed air power as support for ground forces and had no strategic bomber development. Meanwhile, the British had an independent military service called the Royal Air Force (RAF). The RAF had a fighter command and a bomber command. Operation Sealion was the German plan to invade England. They gathered ships and barges in Northern France ports to transport their invasion forces across the English Channelby ferries. Along with this, three Luftflotte, (air fleets) were assigned to the operation. What the Germans needed was to neutralize the Royal Air Force and gain air superiority in order to successfully invade Great Britain. The task was given to Hermann GГ¶ring, Air Marshall of the German Luftwaffe. However, there was one downside to this operation; the RAF must be neutralized before autumn storms made the crossing of the English Channel impossible. The advantages and disadvantages of both the British and Germans played key components in The Battle of Britain. The British had too few high performing Spitfires and too many Hurricanes. She follows with another restriction that rises after a coworker of hers spends too much time at a bar. The employee turns out to be another woman who is, another trailer home dweller and a mother of three . She provides these details because the environment that lower class employees live in tends to drive them to getting drunk, or even into harmful habits for themselves and the people they surround themselves with. Ehrenreich explains this specific example because it presents how not only one employee is effected by a wrongdoing, but all of them are. Ehrenreich next moves on to explain that one of her coworkers was desperate enough to break into one of the storage rooms. This coworker just so happens to be her friend who lives with a number of other Czech dishwashers. Yes, the narrative is disrupted by the cherubs and the lion statues, but compared to the other segments the cherubs and the lion statues do not intensify the shots of the iron gate collapsing compared to the occurrences in segment B and segment A, where those shots together build upon the intensity of the shots within their own segments. In segment B the shots continue to intensify the narrative especially seeing the helpless baby in the carriage on the cusp of descending down the steps, and then the solider slashing people with his saber, and the woman who was shot in the eye. In my opinion, these all continue to intensify the narrative because the shots are brief but it s all shocking and addresses the spectator especially when the woman who is shot in the eye looks at the camera in horror. Segment B continues to shock one, whereas segment C disrupts the continuity of the scene. Segment A is also disruptive like segment C because of the title that says and suddenly, and the lady who is shaking her head and yelling, and then the lady with the white parasol heading toward the camera, although this is disruptive it also intensifies the narrative because the narrative completely switches from the people waving to the people beginning to run for their ... The Community exercised its power in fields that where not explicitly listed in any Treaty, but which it identified as sensible sectors (e.g. monetary policy). This ambiguous development alarmed the Member States that subsequently pointed out the principle of subsidiarity, as they wanted to secure their protagonist role within the process of European integration. The first functional achievements for the Member States took place at the beginnings of the 70s with the so called Tindeman report. In this report of the Commission on the European Union (5 /1975) the principle is explicitly mentioned. It contains the idea that the objective of the Community should not be becoming a centralized super state , but rather should concentrate on attributing more powers to regional and national institutions. Analysis of Women in the Book of Judges Essay When interpreting the Hebrew Bible from a feminist perspective, many are quick to decry the subjugation of women at the hands of men and the lack of female representation in dominant roles in biblical literature. However, although some women are objectified or possibly marginalized, this claim of inequality does not always hold true. Especially in the book of Judges, women are not discarded as characters and are not wholly unappreciated. It is even Deborah herself who gives the call to charge against Sisera s army, while Barak and his soldiers comply. In Judges 5, commonly referred to as the Song of Deborah , praises are sung in honor of this female military leader, who acts as a mother in Israel. Some scholars have even noted parallels drawn between Deborah and the Canaanite war goddess, Anat (Ackerman 177). Additionally, Deborah is respected as a religious figure. For example, Barak refuses to go to war without Deborah by his side. According to Jo Ann Hackett, Barak s refusal to fight without the presence of Deborah is not indicative of his ineptitude or of her military prowess. Rather, Hackett proposes that Barak requests Deborah s participation because, as a prophetess and as a leader chosen by the Lord, her presence indicates divine support (Hackett 357). If Deborah were visible to the Israelite soldiers, morale would be lifted with the thought that the Lord would deliver the enemy into their hands. This shows that Deborah is thought to represent the will of God. Rabbi Steinsaltz notes that the phenomenon of prophetesses in the history of nations is usually relegated to women who are outside the circle of life (e.g. hermitesses, or virgins dedicated to this specific role) (Shapira 28). Deborah, however, is an exception. Although she is a prophetess, she is also relevant in society, and fulfills multiple roles. She successfully leads the charge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether implicit or by choice, the style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382). Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest leadership styles. Leaders using this style fail to be engaged with the employees unless and until there is an issue requiring their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Serebrier 9th Symphony A bit close to a decade ago, I confessed to a friend and fellow reviewer, Julian Grant, who graced these Amazon pages with his own informative and thought provoking reviews I took the pleasure in reading, of how dissatisfied I was in music programmes particularly in America s concert halls. I was ranting about how too little we were exposed to the great composers like Glazunov, Atterberg, Nielsen, Popov, Myaskovsky, and others and the need to rectify that in part by not overplaying the familiar Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Beethoven, et al. in these halls. But Julian Grant put the matter into perspective in reminding me that repeated listening is a complex ingredient in music appreciation. It is indeed a despondent, anguish work, written (in 1910 originally for piano) at the time in Russian history where violence and uncertainties abounded. Its bleak language is very much akin to that of his Two Prelude Improvisations (1918) for pianoforte where conditions were even more precarious. Truth to tell, I cannot think of a more striking, penetrating orchestral realization of the work s profound sense of melancholy and dreariness than Gavriil Yudin s. And Serebrier brings these attributes movingly, with the menacing flutes, prominent in the middle allegro moderato section, that are perfectly caught. Come to think of it, it would ve been interesting if Glazunov s dramatic overture The Song of Destiny is included here, for it too shows the composer s changing musical persona under the conditions he was in. But be that as it may, this album, extremely well recorded and reverberant, caps what is now the most absorbing, revelatory, thought provoking, satisfyingly searching Glazunov symphony cycle to date (and imagine that admirable sense of preparation and knowledge of these symphonies in the performances of them that took place in just four days June 2 5, 2009). And while some will take issue with Serebrier s essay where he uses the Bernstein/Mahler series as an example of how much of a revelation a series like this is (or how much it can be), I for one will not pose an ... According to a new report from the University of Michigan Law School s National Registry of Exonerations, 2015 set a record for the number of wrongly convicted Americans who received justice; 149 people who were either declared innocent or cleared of their convictions or guilty pleas. Many of them had already served long prison terms for crimes they did not commit (Mencimer, 2016.) There are many causes that can contribute to a wrongful conviction. Witness misidentification is the most common cause; we know that the human mind is not like a tape recorder, and can make mistakes. Forensic analysts presenting evidence that has little or no scientific basis, false confessions by suspects during the interrogation process, government officials taking steps to ensure that a suspect is convicted despite poor evidence, testimony by people with incentives to testify, and poorly prepared lawyers are just some of the other causes that can result in a wrongful conviction. The death penalty case of Cameron Todd Willingham, of Corsicana, Texas, is one that experts now agree that the evidence proves he was wrongfully convicted. Election Text Analysis Essay Election Text Messaging Content Strategy Guide Election Text Messaging Content Strategy Guide The next big idea in political campaigning is text messaging because operatives can reach supporters with timely messages that people open and read. The costs are negligible when compared with traditional advertising or even the low prices of email and social media campaigns. The only major risk is overusing the medium by sending too many texts. Sending about four messages a month is the maximum limit, and political campaigns should send at least two messages per month to keep supporters engaged.
