Ethical Issues In Social Media
The usage of social media and other electronic communication is rising very quickly as numbers of
social media platforms, applications and outlets are continuing to advance. Many people use online
journals, social media platforms, online chat rooms and symposium to connect personally, also
professionally with others. Social media is an intriguing and beneficial gadget when used correctly.
The nature of social media, however, can act as a risk as it attempts direct posting freedom that
permits very minimal time to reflect on the post and carries an additional burden that what is posted
on the web is detectable by a court of law even when it has been deleted a long time ago. This paper
aims to explain while there are ethical issues and risks related to the utilization social media, when
used properly it can benefit healthcare professionals in many ways, including fostering profession
participation and connections, promoting timely patient doctor communication, and protecting patient
privacy and confidentiality. Background What is social media? Social media are computer mediated
technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other
forms of expression via virtual communities and networks Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Social
media usage offers many potential benefits for healthcare professionals and patients, but it can also
bring potential risks for both professionals and patients safety and privacy, if managed poorly.

Dr. John Adams Globe Play House Analysis
Dr. John C. Adams drew 15 scale models of the Globe playhouse, as the original might have looked.
Dr. Adams wrote many books about the Globe, but his most famous was The Globe Playhouse. The
Harvard University Press published it in 1942, and it is now widely recognized as the most complete
and integrated statement that Shakespearean scholarship has yet produced (Irwin Smith). His main
purpose of drawing these blueprints was to put his conclusions into a three dimensional form by
creating a scale model. He finished it in early 1950. Anyone who has adequate knowledge about the
Globe can interpret his drawings, but a teenager or young adult who may not be familiar with The
Globe would most likely be able to visualize what Adams had planned for

Assault Or Discipline Essay
Assault or Discipline When describing a physical altercation between two adults, the term is assault
and battery. Assault on an individual has more than immediate effects; the effects can last a lifetime in
severe cases. In all fifty states, it is a crime to hit, strike or use corporal punishment in any deliberate
manner towards any person over the age of eighteen. However, this law does not apply to physical
force being used on minors. Spanking, whipping, and paddling are among a few common references
to this form of punishment. Physically disciplining children has had many names over the years. No
matter which term is used, corporal punishment has a negative impact on every party involved. It is a
widely used, socially accepted method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
America no longer holds executions in the street, no longer condones segregation, and even gives
animals the right to not be mistreated. It has strived to become a country of equal opportunity and
treatment. Yet, America allows the injustice of children being mistreated within its borders everyday.
Most parents do not see the injustice that they are imposing upon their children, or the negative
influence they are portraying. The continuing pattern of injustice is seen in the opposition. The
opposing side argues the fact that they were spanked as children and this action has done no long term
damage to them. The damage they are looking for is unseen. It is in the way they function as a parent,
spouse, co worker, and even affects their sub conscious thinking. The fact that these people were
subjected to spanking as children is the reason they have justified their argument for hitting their
children. It creates a pattern and increases the likelihood the children in these situations will continue
that pattern (AAP 725). Most parents do not know how to stop the cycle. Parents must decide for
themselves how to take control of the situation, and decide what results they want for their own
children. When the choice is made to use spanking as a disciplinary method, children are often left
with more negative psychological results than parents intend. Parental behavior is the supposed to be
an example to children of what love looks

Killer Immunoglobulin-Like Receptor Essay
1 Introduction The target of this research is to look at the frequency of a receptor a killer
immunoglobulin like receptor (KIR) present on the surface of natural killer (NK) cells a key
component of the innate immune system. This will begin by briefly discussing the innate immunity,
NK cells, KIRs and their implications.
1.1 Innate Immunity The human immune system can be divided into two categories the adaptive
immune system and innate immune system, however these two systems work in conjunction to form
the immune response. The innate immune system also can be referred to as the non specific immune
system and the first line of defence. As the name suggests the innate immune system is non specific
and recognition and response to pathogens are generic. This system does not confer memory or long
lasting protection from pathogens. The task of this system is to provide instant defence against
pathogens which are present throughout individual s life s and can be found across other animals and
plants. The defence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
while the second line of defences or secondary defences as they are known, consists of cellular and
soluble factors to stop pathogens causing infections. The secondary defences can be divided up further
into cellular factors consisting of macrophages and neutrophils which are phagocytic by nature (Galli,
Borregaard, Wynn, 2011). The final cellular component are cytotoxic cells, NK cells and will be the
focus of this research and discussed in greater detail in section 1.2.0. NK cells are a class of cytotoxic
lymphocyte which protects the body from virally infected and cancerous cells. These cells can induce
cell death by delivering cytotoxic granules and receptor mediated mechanisms, while also producing
cytokines that aid in stimulating the immune cell functions seen in the soluble factors of the secondary
defences (Caligiuri,

point of death. But I am going to tell you more in this 1000 words booklet on roman gladiators.
Becoming a Gladiator
There were many different ways of becoming a gladiator such as: being captured as a prisoners of war,
being a slave sold into gladiatoral schools or even volunteers. People liked being gladiators they
enjoyed the excitement, the fame and the crowds cheering their name. Also being a gladiator means
good living money for every time you fight so that s why some people chose to become gladiators.

Volunteer gladiators had to swear an oath and enter a legal agreement agreeing to be punished by
beating burning death by sword if they didn t perform as required. But being a gladiator was like being
today s no.1 music artist; if you were good people loved you.
If you were heroic and brave and the emperor liked you he might have even given you the wooden
swords to signify your freedom.
The Best Gladiator
To be the best gladiator you had to be tough yet agile you would have to be able to win without being
to cocky. You would need to be able to use all weapons. Gladiators were trained to be fearless and
strong in battle they had to be able to go into every battle not caring if they died.
The best gladiators were the bravest always fighting for themselves the ones with the flawless
technique and the ones who made sure winning came first before anything.
End of the Gladiators
The Gladiator games of ancient Rome began their decline through the influence of Roman Emperor
Constantine I.
Constantine was the first Roman Emperor to freely allow Christianity. Christians were no longer
persecuted for their beliefs and martyred when there were gladiator events.
Constantine I made this law, which stated:
In times in which peace and peace relating to domestic affairs prevail, bloody demonstrations
displease us. Therefore we order that there may be no more gladiator combats. Those, who were

Renaissance Art Outline
1. The Renaissance got its start among the northern Italian city sates after a thousand years of
medieval brutality and barbarism, [Giorgio] Vasari claimed, Italian artists and thinkers had bravely
restored the lost perfection of art and philosophy as known as the ancients (Backman, page 373). The
cultural elite of the time was bringing the ideas, moral values, art, and civic mindedness back to life
to, what they believed, the two high points of Western culture: Periclean Athens and Republican Rome
(Backman, page373). Pier Paolo Vergerio, and early Renaissance writer on education, insisted that
only the study of the classical liberal arts can lift society from the moral and spiritual decay of the
medieval era (Backman, page 374).This gave fresh hope and creative energy to Europe (Backman, ...

There are a number of fundamental elements of humanism. One would be to prevail over suffering
and another, to change things in our lives for the better. To live life to the fullest, but still help others
live theirs that way as well. The best one can do is find comfort, beauty, or value in the broken shards
of the world scattered at one s feet (Backman, page 377).
3. Martin Luther s argument to the Catholic Church was against the church s practice of selling
indulgences (Backman, page 395). In order to be fully forgiven of sin, according to the Catholic
Doctrine, you must meet the four requirements: contrition, confession, absolution, and satisfaction.
After the first three, the forth one must then make some sort of restitution for what one did (Backman,

Howard Zinn Chapter One Essay
Columbus has always been portrayed as an enlightened, peaceful explorer who discovered a new
world, and became friends with the native people. Howard Zinn s view on Columbus s encounter with
the natives is an entirely different perspective. Zinn describes Columbus as a man who is willing to
torture and kill others to be able to accomplish what he wants; in this case he wanted to obtain gold
and other resources to take back with him to Spain. When Columbus and his men arrived to the
islands, he noticed that the natives were generous, and accommodating because they willingly traded
everything they owned and brought them such things like: food, water, and gifts. Since the beginning
the natives offered all of their hospitality to Columbus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He became desperate to pay the dues back to the king and queen, so he order every native older than
fourteen to collect a certain quantity of gold by three months. Once they had collected the amount,
they would receive a copper to put around their neck, those without it had their hands cut off and bled
to death. Many felt it was impossible to do this, and tried escaping but were always found and killed.
When it was finally clear that there was no gold left, they took them all as slave labor to huge estates
which are called encomiendas. Columbus s big plan for Hispaniola since the beginning was to take
advantage of the natives and take their land, and the gold he believed was located there. He built the
first fort in the Western Hemisphere, and left some of his men to find and store gold there. Columbus
had to ask for a little more help from their majesties, he convinced them by saying he would take them
as much gold as they need ... and as many slaves as they ask (Zinn,6 ) Columbus s plans affected the
natives, in many ways; first of all they were going to lose their land, and also they were going to be
taken captive for slave labor.
Howard Zinn not only introduced a new perspective on Christopher Columbus, but he changed the
way I viewed things. I never knew how much killings, and torture was put upon the natives in the
searching of the New World . I learned how the hero I thought Columbus was, in reality was more like
a villain. He didn t

Scheiner s Sense Contradictory Images Of Women In Film
Fifties served as a transition point. It rejected old customs and values, introduced new ones, building
blocks for modern ideas, which can be reflected in the films produced during that decade. Scheiner

the fifties. Haskell (1987) studied the fifties as a society in a postwar phase that shown a rise of sexual

Definition:
Exchange rates: Price of one currency, in terms of another currency.
Example: 1.23 SGD/USD
This means that 1 USD is worth 1.23 SGD.
This can also be written as 0.813 USD/SGD.
Exchange rate regimes:
Exchange rates can have a fixed rate regime, floating regime, or managed floating regime.
Fixed Exchange rate regimes:
In this, government agrees to buy and sell unlimited amount of the currency at a fixed price. Example:
Thai bhat before 1998.
This effectively fixes the price of the currency.
You cannot buy for cheaper because the seller would rather sell to government at higher price.
You cannot buy at a higher price because you can always purchase cheaper from government.

At the beginning of the poem, he refers to many things that die. He ends the first stanza by saying
Whatever is begotten, born, and dies. This shows that everything alive on this earth has an expiration
date and will eventually die. The next stanza talks about An aged man is but a paltry thing. The
character that the speaker is referring to is soon about to die. He is looking for a meaning in life and
how to leave his mark on the world.
Once out of nature I shall never take
My bodily form from any natural thing,
But such a form as Grecian goldsmiths make
Of hammered gold and gold enamelling
The last stanza shows how the speaker will die and his physical body will be gone, but art will stay
forever. That is how the old man will leave his mark on the world.

In Claude McKay s America, what is the speaker s attitude toward his country? How does the speaker
s attitude toward his country reflect the struggles and ideals of the Harlem Renaissance?
In McKay s America, the speaker goes back and forth between positive and negative feelings for
America. At this time there were many racial norms occurring, especially in the south. Black people
were being discriminated and treated unfairly. The speaker states Although she feeds me bread of
bitterness. This shows that the speaker recognizes that America is how she feeds and provides for her

Britain s Policy Of Appeasement
Britain in the 1930s followed a policy of appeasement to retain peace between countries and stop the
fascist powers of Italy and Germany causing disruption. There is a subsequent amount of evidence to
suggest the policy of appeasement was a failure due to events including the Abyssinian Crisis, the
Reoccupation of the Rhineland, The Anglo German Naval Agreement, the Spanish Civil War and the
Anschluss. Although it can also be argued that Britain had some success with preventing the fascist
powers making appeasement successful.
After the First World War, Germany was made to sign the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 outlining terms
and conditions Germans had to accept and abide by. This angered many Germans as it was felt the
terms were too harsh. In the 1930s, the British foreign policy of appeasement aimed to preserve the
peace between nations and prevent war breaking out by negotiating with any issues that may arise.
Britain also aimed to protect the empire as it was under threat as well as working with the League of
Nations although it was weakened after The Great War. These specific aims were successful to an
extent as there was no instant war however, war did break out in 1939 and it can be argued that
appeasement only caused Hitler and Mussolini to gain confidence within their fascist ideas. The first
trial for the British foreign policy in the 1930s was the Abyssinian Crisis of 1935. The country was
rich in natural, raw materials and Mussolini sent Italian troops to

Examine how one theory of emotion may affect one cognitive...
One theory of how emotion affects the cognitive process of memory is by a process known as a
Flashbulb Memory. The theory is that these Flashbulb Memories will not only enhance the memory
itself, but will make certain aspects of the memory more vivid and detailed. First, the Flashbulb
Memory should be defined. Flashbulb memories are emotional memories that are remembered with
great vivid detail and are almost photo like. For example, if someone were to experience a horrid
natural disaster, they would most likely remember the situation more vividly than people not actually
there. This instance is exactly what Brown and Kulik were trying to show in 1977, and what Conway
was trying to express in 1994. They were dealing with the concept of ... Show more content on

Like the experiment done by Conway et al, Neisser and Harsch investigated people s memory
accuracy of the incident 24 hours after the explosion and then again two years after. The results were:
one day after the disaster, 215 of the participants said that they heard about the disaster on television.
Two and a half years later 45% of the participants claimed to have heard of the event on the television.
Their memories of how they learned the news about the challenger disaster changed over time and
was a huge loophole in the studies in favor of flashbulb memory. Through this study it can be
concluded that flashbulb memories are not reliable and may in fact just be ordinary memories.
From Brown and Kulik to Neisser and Harsch we arrive at completely different conclusions. There are
many strengths to these studies, as they were all with real events that would have affected people
emotionally, but some of the studies were lacking in validity. The studies that recorded before and
after seemed to be more compelling than the ones that just assumed a certain answer. However, the
longer the duration of time between the before and after results most likely produced more variables
being tested, rather than just one. Based on the studies outlined it only seems accurate that these
flashbulb memories actually exist and affect our memory. The real analysis of these findings are how
they actually influence behavior. Emotion can affect memory, and ultimately behavior in someone s
life.

Planet Of Slums By Mike Davis
In the book, Planet of Slums Mike Davis discusses, why there are mast migration from the rural
villages to the megacities of the Third World. What megacities are is a city when the total population
in it exceeds over eight million. He also discusses how the treason of the state, international banks and
the ideas thinkers like Hernando de Soto makes the lives of people in the urban south much worse.
Urban south are cities like Mexico City, Delhi, Dhaka, Cairo, Beijing, Lima and etc (Davis 4) that
experience in major increase in population by more than ten times its size from 1950 to 2004, it is
cities in the third world. Mike Davis believed that, the government, international banks and thinkers
such as Hernando de Soto are the one responsible for making the condition in the urban south terrible
for the poor while good only for the officials and the rich.
Mike Davis says that after 1950, people moved from villages to the cities despite knowing that the
condition in those cities are bad. [In urban south people are poor and hungry so they do any job to
make money. Such as, picking up cigarette bud, selling body parts, and etc]An example that, Mike
Davis gives is why the population in the cities at china is increasing.
It is, instead, the small to medium sized cities and recently city ized towns that have absorbed the
majority of the rural labor power made redundant by post 1979 market reforms. In part, this is the

Blessed Clement Of Dunblane Research Paper
During the thirteenth century, Scotland was in full restoration. The entire region was in disorder; there
were many conflicts between the monarchy and the aristocracy. The New Scotland, specifically

Although there was more than one individual that aided in the reconstruction of the province, Clement

the 1200 s in Scotland. The transformation of the Scottish Church mainly took place in the eleventh

Scotland and the crown of England were seldom at peace, resulting in the tremendous growth and

Hollywood Is Like A Battle
Maggie Quigley, a 29 year old Asian/ White Actress, told Associated Press that competition for roles
in Hollywood is like a battle. Even with her roles beside many top tier actors and actresses, she
believes that It s a struggle. You got to win roles. You really got to fight for them. When I left Asia and

(for an audition) and trying to quell this stigma that people have about Asians only doing certain kinds
of roles and Asians only being looked at a certain way, Quigley said. You run into these stereotypes a

So the one Asian guy in Star Wars disintegrates on an Imperial Starship. Just like how Asians are
stereotyped daily on their driving. But it is not just under representation, Hollywood is actually giving
away roles to white people that should be for Asians; the term is called white washing . Apparently
there is some belief in Hollywood that Asian leads just will not be understood by American public.
For example, the movie 21. The movie is based on a true story about a group of MIT students led by
John Chang and focusing on player Jeff Ma. They used card counting to win a fortune in blackjack.
Yet Hollywood finds it boring. No one would want to watch two Asians playing blackjack. Why not
make the cast almost all white and add sex and drinking? And that is what they literally did.
Most members of the team were Asian males, but you wouldn t know that from watching the movie.
The author of the nonfiction story that inspired the film, Ben Mezrich, told an audience of MIT
students that early on in the moviemaking process, studio executives told him most of the film s actors
would be white, with perhaps an Asian female. This is consistent with Hollywood s larger trend.
(Scherker) I mean that is crazy! That was a real story based on real people and they just said Ah, we
do not want to cast Asians. Let us just make them white.

the used furniture proved to be a good choice that in the long run worked for our coffee shop. We also
decided that purchasing the high capacity espresso machine would be very convenient for the
business. The machine turned out to be a great investment that served Coffee Connection very well.
Challenges We Overcame A challenge that we faced with our coffee shop was making the staffing
decisions. We struggled with trying to figure out a sufficient number of managers and servers to hire
and an appropriate pay for them. Around the beginning of the simulation, we had a nice amount of
servers which resulted in us receiving an award for best staff. After we extended hours, things seemed
to go downhill with our staff. As a result, this had an effect on the overall service of the workers. They
were not as happy or productive as we had hoped. Our managers were becoming stressed out and our
servers were being overworked and even a couple of our servers quit. This lead to us hiring more
servers, another manager and giving our managers a raise. These necessary adjustments were a must
in our attempt to increase productivity. We also thought that by giving the managers a pay raise, it
would make them feel appreciated and motivate them to work. Recognition is what is needed to
inspire employees to do their best.

Hollywood Life shared that a source close to the family shared that this is not true at all. She would
love nothing more than to be a mother but it s just not true. For now being in the best shape of her life
and not being in a deeply committed relationship is keeping her happy. She would love to make that
happen sooner than later and it will in good time but she has no bun in the oven. Entertainment

The Meaning Of Courage In The Shawshank Redemption, And...
What is the meaning of courage? This is a question that many people ask themselves. Is courage doing
something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of
courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank
Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that
I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me
the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to
watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was
when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which
was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food,
my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was
the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat
her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and
kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the
abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to
try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my
childhood. You can also find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and
Beastly. An example of courage is when Assef goes to hit Amir, Assef suddenly freezes because
Hassan has his slingshot aimed at him, which allows Amir and Hassan to get away. Hassan shows
courage by facing his fear of Assef and stands up for Amir and himself. You can also see courage
when Pi has to face Richard Parker and decides that they need each other. Pi had a fear of Richard
Parker because he watched what happened to the goat. This made Pi realize how strong and powerful
tigers are and how they can kill you very easily. Even though he knew this he also knew that they need
to stick together and help each other. Another example is in Beastly when Kyle

When discussing the notoriety Black September one needs to first identify what is Black September.

The members of the BLO threatened King Hussein s rule, by revenging the deaths of Palestinians that
were killed. The death of the last charismatic leader of the Fedayeen, Abu Ali Iyad was intended to be

In response Israel declared war on the BLO for their actions at the Munich Olympics in Germany.
Israel s retaliatory acts killed hundreds of people at Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon and Syria

neighboring countries, which lead to further military conflict. The BLO dissolved from the PLO in the
fall of 1973 and acts of violence were no longer condoned outside Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza
Strip.
In conclusion the notoriety of Black September Organization a militant faction that broke away from

Functional Foods And Its Effect On The Risks Of Chronic...
Functional foods are those foods that are beneficial to health and are able to reduce the risks of
chronic diseases. The interest in functional foods has increased in the recent years as people look for
safer way to improve general health and living. In India, despite of low level of public awareness
compared to western markets, functional foods and ingredients are finding huge growth as consumers
switch on to the promise of healthier foods, beverages and supplements.
On the contrary, due to urbanization the increased demand for ready to eat products at reasonable costs
also increased, particularly the bakery products. But in recent times functional foods are rapidly
increasing in popularity in sectors such as dairy products or confectionery, in bakery it is still
relatively underdeveloped. Bread is one such important staple food and the most widely consumed
bakery product all over the world. In bread making, the use of white flour (refined) has been increased
with an aim of improving the aesthetic value of white bread, which in turn led to drastic reduction in
the nutritional density and fiber content when compared to bread made from whole grain cereals. In
recent years, cereals and its ingredients such as beta glucan, arabinoxylan, resistant starch,
oligosaccharides etc are accepted as functional foods and nutraceuticals. Cereals, in particular oat and
barley, offer another alternative for the production of functional foods. By supplementing or
substituting white

behind the operation. With extensive research American FBI came to the understanding that Osama
Bin Laden was the leader of an anti American terrorism group al Qaeda group and ordered for the
attack. (Benson) After the Bush declared to war on terror (the war to end terrorism) in September 2001

(Benson) Shortly after Obama was elected in to office in 2008 he made finding Bin Laden the top of
the priority list (Obama). The search for al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden took ten years after

The Problem Of Drinking And Driving
Imagine waking up one day and realizing the one person who you love dearly has a severe drinking
problem. What about finding out that a fellow friend or family member had their life taken from them
because someone made the choice to drive after drinking! What if your child s life was abruptly ended
because their friend decided it was cool to drive after having a few beers. Well the fact of the matter is
drinking and Driving is one of the biggest killers of many young Americans these days. What drives
many people to drink and drive? Do they do because of the peer pressure or maybe because they think
it makes them look cool? More and more young adults are start to drink at younger ages to help cope
with issues that they have in their young lives instead of dealing with their issues directly. Many
people do it to make them feel better about themselves, yet many do it to relieve to pressure of the
work day. Yet the biggest about of alcohol is being consumed by people below the age of twenty one.
Many are being influenced by peer pressure and by the effects of those around them. Peer Pressure has
the ability to work in two ways; the positive effect which deters the young away and then the negative
effect which draws them in. In 1980 there was a significant study done to show the conclusion of
drunken driving penalties on many young adults and teenagers. Many young drivers reported the top
four reasons why they wouldn t drink and drive: 1. Peer disapproval 2.

Stateless Minority People Of The Rohingya
Executive Summary
The Rohingya are the stateless minority people of Myanmar and have been residing there for a long
time. They have deprived citizenship as Myanmar government consider them as illegal immigrants. So
they are being deprived of many of the basic rights and being tortured for a long time but the recent
Ethnic Cleansing mission of the Myanmar government has severely destroyed the Rohingya and
forced them to leave the country.
Who are the Rohingya people?
The Rohingya are the minority people of Myanmar residing in the Rakhine state of the country. They
are the world s most harassed minority. Majority of the ethnic group are Muslim while some of them
are Hindu, who lived in Myanmar for centuries. They have been denied citizenship since 1982 in the
Buddhist Southeast Asian country. There are 135 official ethnic groups in Myanmar but the Rohingyas
are not considered among them. Most of the Rohingya people live in the Western coastal state of
Rakhine and are not allowed to leave without permission from the government. Though they have
been living there for quite a long time they are deprived of the basic services and opportunities of the
country.
Origin
According to some authentic sources, Rohingyas have lived in Myanmar since as early as 8th century.
The Rohingyas say that they are the successors of Persian Arab Muslim traders, who came to the
country generations ago. During the British rule from 1824 to 1948, migration took place to present

Analysis Of Gloria Naylor s Mama Day
Gloria Naylor s Mama Day, through prefatory documents at the beginning of the novel, is able to
further her rewrite of the African experience post slavery. Naylor published Mama Day in 1988.
During that year the term African American had been coined by Jesse Jackson. By using this term
today we are able to honor our current place as American while also giving recognition and preserving
our African Heritage Through the use of three prefatory documents Naylor is able to rewrite the
historical African experience post slavery.First through the use of the Day family tree to allude to the
bible and the depiction of Sapphira Wade as a God like person. Secondly through the use of the Bill of
sale to demonstrate the relationship of slaves with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the family tree, all of the boys have names stemming from the bible such as Jonah and Mark. John
Paul is the name of the last boy we see on the family tree similar to how in the Bible John is to believe
to have written the book of revelations which is the last book in the bible. Another parallel shown in
the story is when John Paul is talking about his mother he states God rested on the seventh day, their
mama declared, and she would too (151). This quote compares God s creation of everything in the six
days and his rest on the seventh to Sapphira s creation of six children and stopping after have the
seventh one. By doing so Naylor is able to communicate the power of the black woman by alluding to
her god like power.
The bill of sale for Sapphira Wade is used to contrast from the typical history of slaves by going into
depth about the characteristic of the slave. When a slave was purchased a bill of sale was created to
provide proof of ownership. Most bills of sale for slaves gave a simple name, age and appearance but
lack personality traits. For example, at the Smithsonian Museum, a bill of sale dated 1835 details the
sale of a young girl. The bill of sale for this slave reads One negro girl, named Polly aged about
sixteen years, yellow complexion and black eyes . The reader gets very basic knowledge about the
purchase of the slave bill except for that it was a transfer of

Essay on The Principle of Separate Corporate Personality
The Principle of Separate Corporate Personality
The principle of separate corporate personality has been firmly established in the common law since
the decision in the case of Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd[1], whereby a corporation has a separate legal
personality, rights and obligations totally distinct from those of its shareholders. Legislation and courts
nevertheless sometimes pierce the corporate veil so as to hold the shareholders personally liable for
the liabilities of the corporation. Courts may also lift the corporate veil , in the conflict of laws in order
to determine who actually controls the corporation, and thus to ascertain the corporation s true
contacts, and closest and most real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The veil of incorporation can be described as being the separation between a company and its
members. Due to the separate legal status of a company from its members this is usually very strictly
maintained. However, there are certain circumstances when the courts will deny the people who run
the company the advantage of hiding behind the corporate veil. In these instances the veil of
incorporation is said to be pierced or lifted , i.e. the barrier between a company and its members is
removed so there is no legal separation between them. There instances are however, difficult to predict
as the reasons depend on the judges interpretation of fairness or policy or of how a particular statute
should be interpreted.
In the leading case of Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd, Salomon incorporated his boot and shoe repair
business, transferring it to a company. He took all the shares of the company except six, which were
held by his wife, daughter and four sons. Part of the payment for the transfer of the business was made
in the form of debentures (a secured loan) issued by the company to Salomon. Salomon transferred the
debentures to Broderip in exchange for a loan. Salomon defaulted on payment of interest on the loan
and Broderip sought to enforce the security against the company. Unsecured creditors tried to put

Rowe Rational Justification Analysis
The notion of rational justification needs to be clarified in order to understand the theism atheism
debate and the categories of friendly and unfriendly theist, atheist and agnostic. For something to be
rationally justified, as in a belief, simply means, according to Rowe, to have good reasons supporting
the belief , and that it is possible to rationally justify a belief that is false. Based on this theory, even
though a theist and atheist have opposite beliefs, they can agree upon the possibility of the false belief
to be justified. In our text, we are presented with six (6) definitions, namely a friendly and unfriendly
theist, atheist and agnostic. The friendly versions of these categories define those who can rationally

I feel there are many occasions where labeling is inappropriate, such as in the case of race, description
of body type, cognitive abilities and with those that have disabilities. An exception to this would be for
recording of the census or needing to report on the demographics of a particular area of the country.
As I mentioned above, for the sake of proposing a theory, these religious labels of friendly or
unfriendly theist, atheist, or agnostic would be acceptable. But we have to be very careful in general
terms. The dangers of labeling are significant, as labels put limitations on individuals by restricting
their behaviors in a certain way by not enabling that person to experience personality changes
different from that of their current

  • 3. Dr. John Adams Globe Play House Analysis Dr. John C. Adams drew 15 scale models of the Globe playhouse, as the original might have looked. Dr. Adams wrote many books about the Globe, but his most famous was The Globe Playhouse. The Harvard University Press published it in 1942, and it is now widely recognized as the most complete and integrated statement that Shakespearean scholarship has yet produced (Irwin Smith). His main purpose of drawing these blueprints was to put his conclusions into a three dimensional form by creating a scale model. He finished it in early 1950. Assault on an individual has more than immediate effects; the effects can last a lifetime in severe cases. In all fifty states, it is a crime to hit, strike or use corporal punishment in any deliberate manner towards any person over the age of eighteen. However, this law does not apply to physical force being used on minors. Spanking, whipping, and paddling are among a few common references to this form of punishment. America no longer holds executions in the street, no longer condones segregation, and even gives animals the right to not be mistreated. It has strived to become a country of equal opportunity and treatment. Yet, America allows the injustice of children being mistreated within its borders everyday. Most parents do not see the injustice that they are imposing upon their children, or the negative influence they are portraying. The continuing pattern of injustice is seen in the opposition. The opposing side argues the fact that they were spanked as children and this action has done no long term damage to them. The damage they are looking for is unseen. It is in the way they function as a parent, spouse, co worker, and even affects their sub conscious thinking. The fact that these people were subjected to spanking as children is the reason they have justified their argument for hitting their children. It creates a pattern and increases the likelihood the children in these situations will continue that pattern (AAP 725). Most parents do not know how to stop the cycle. Parents must decide for themselves how to take control of the situation, and decide what results they want for their own children. When the choice is made to use spanking as a disciplinary method, children are often left with more negative psychological results than parents intend. This will begin by briefly discussing the innate immunity, NK cells, KIRs and their implications. 1.1 Innate Immunity The human immune system can be divided into two categories the adaptive immune system and innate immune system, however these two systems work in conjunction to form the immune response. The innate immune system also can be referred to as the non specific immune system and the first line of defence. As the name suggests the innate immune system is non specific and recognition and response to pathogens are generic. This system does not confer memory or long lasting protection from pathogens. The Renaissance got its start among the northern Italian city sates after a thousand years of medieval brutality and barbarism, [Giorgio] Vasari claimed, Italian artists and thinkers had bravely restored the lost perfection of art and philosophy as known as the ancients (Backman, page 373). The cultural elite of the time was bringing the ideas, moral values, art, and civic mindedness back to life to, what they believed, the two high points of Western culture: Periclean Athens and Republican Rome (Backman, page373). Howard Zinn s view on Columbus s encounter with the natives is an entirely different perspective. Zinn describes Columbus as a man who is willing to torture and kill others to be able to accomplish what he wants; in this case he wanted to obtain gold and other resources to take back with him to Spain. When Columbus and his men arrived to the islands, he noticed that the natives were generous, and accommodating because they willingly traded everything they owned and brought them such things like: food, water, and gifts. Many felt it was impossible to do this, and tried escaping but were always found and killed. When it was finally clear that there was no gold left, they took them all as slave labor to huge estates which are called encomiendas. Columbus s big plan for Hispaniola since the beginning was to take advantage of the natives and take their land, and the gold he believed was located there. He built the first fort in the Western Hemisphere, and left some of his men to find and store gold there. Columbus had to ask for a little more help from their majesties, he convinced them by saying he would take them as much gold as they need ... and as many slaves as they ask (Zinn,6 ) Columbus s plans affected the natives, in many ways; first of all they were going to lose their land, and also they were going to be taken captive for slave labor. • 14. Britain s Policy Of Appeasement Britain in the 1930s followed a policy of appeasement to retain peace between countries and stop the fascist powers of Italy and Germany causing disruption. There is a subsequent amount of evidence to suggest the policy of appeasement was a failure due to events including the Abyssinian Crisis, the Reoccupation of the Rhineland, The Anglo German Naval Agreement, the Spanish Civil War and the Anschluss. Although it can also be argued that Britain had some success with preventing the fascist powers making appeasement successful. After the First World War, Germany was made to sign the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 outlining terms and conditions Germans had to accept and abide by. This angered many Germans as it was felt the terms were too harsh. In the 1930s, the British foreign policy of appeasement aimed to preserve the peace between nations and prevent war breaking out by negotiating with any issues that may arise. Britain also aimed to protect the empire as it was under threat as well as working with the League of Nations although it was weakened after The Great War. These specific aims were successful to an extent as there was no instant war however, war did break out in 1939 and it can be argued that appeasement only caused Hitler and Mussolini to gain confidence within their fascist ideas. The first trial for the British foreign policy in the 1930s was the Abyssinian Crisis of 1935. The country was rich in natural, raw materials and Mussolini sent Italian troops to ... The theory is that these Flashbulb Memories will not only enhance the memory itself, but will make certain aspects of the memory more vivid and detailed. First, the Flashbulb Memory should be defined. Flashbulb memories are emotional memories that are remembered with great vivid detail and are almost photo like. For example, if someone were to experience a horrid natural disaster, they would most likely remember the situation more vividly than people not actually there. This instance is exactly what Brown and Kulik were trying to show in 1977, and what Conway was trying to express in 1994. They were dealing with the concept of ... The results were: one day after the disaster, 215 of the participants said that they heard about the disaster on television. Two and a half years later 45% of the participants claimed to have heard of the event on the television. Their memories of how they learned the news about the challenger disaster changed over time and was a huge loophole in the studies in favor of flashbulb memory. Through this study it can be concluded that flashbulb memories are not reliable and may in fact just be ordinary memories. From Brown and Kulik to Neisser and Harsch we arrive at completely different conclusions. There are many strengths to these studies, as they were all with real events that would have affected people emotionally, but some of the studies were lacking in validity. The studies that recorded before and after seemed to be more compelling than the ones that just assumed a certain answer. However, the longer the duration of time between the before and after results most likely produced more variables being tested, rather than just one. Based on the studies outlined it only seems accurate that these flashbulb memories actually exist and affect our memory. The real analysis of these findings are how they actually influence behavior. • 22. The Meaning Of Courage In The Shawshank Redemption, And... What is the meaning of courage? This is a question that many people ask themselves. Is courage doing something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food, my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my childhood. You can also find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and Beastly. An example of courage is when Assef goes to hit Amir, Assef suddenly freezes because Hassan has his slingshot aimed at him, which allows Amir and Hassan to get away. Hassan shows courage by facing his fear of Assef and stands up for Amir and himself. You can also see courage when Pi has to face Richard Parker and decides that they need each other. Pi had a fear of Richard Parker because he watched what happened to the goat. This made Pi realize how strong and powerful tigers are and how they can kill you very easily. Naylor published Mama Day in 1988. During that year the term African American had been coined by Jesse Jackson. By using this term today we are able to honor our current place as American while also giving recognition and preserving our African Heritage Through the use of three prefatory documents Naylor is able to rewrite the historical African experience post slavery.First through the use of the Day family tree to allude to the bible and the depiction of Sapphira Wade as a God like person. On the family tree, all of the boys have names stemming from the bible such as Jonah and Mark. John Paul is the name of the last boy we see on the family tree similar to how in the Bible John is to believe to have written the book of revelations which is the last book in the bible. Another parallel shown in the story is when John Paul is talking about his mother he states God rested on the seventh day, their mama declared, and she would too (151). This quote compares God s creation of everything in the six days and his rest on the seventh to Sapphira s creation of six children and stopping after have the seventh one. By doing so Naylor is able to communicate the power of the black woman by alluding to her god like power. The bill of sale for Sapphira Wade is used to contrast from the typical history of slaves by going into depth about the characteristic of the slave. When a slave was purchased a bill of sale was created to provide proof of ownership. Most bills of sale for slaves gave a simple name, age and appearance but lack personality traits. For example, at the Smithsonian Museum, a bill of sale dated 1835 details the sale of a young girl. The bill of sale for this slave reads One negro girl, named Polly aged about sixteen years, yellow complexion and black eyes . • 30. Essay on The Principle of Separate Corporate Personality The Principle of Separate Corporate Personality The principle of separate corporate personality has been firmly established in the common law since the decision in the case of Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd[1], whereby a corporation has a separate legal personality, rights and obligations totally distinct from those of its shareholders. Legislation and courts nevertheless sometimes pierce the corporate veil so as to hold the shareholders personally liable for the liabilities of the corporation. Courts may also lift the corporate veil , in the conflict of laws in order to determine who actually controls the corporation, and thus to ascertain the corporation s true contacts, and closest and most real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The veil of incorporation can be described as being the separation between a company and its members. Due to the separate legal status of a company from its members this is usually very strictly maintained. However, there are certain circumstances when the courts will deny the people who run the company the advantage of hiding behind the corporate veil. In these instances the veil of incorporation is said to be pierced or lifted , i.e. the barrier between a company and its members is removed so there is no legal separation between them. There instances are however, difficult to predict as the reasons depend on the judges interpretation of fairness or policy or of how a particular statute should be interpreted. In the leading case of Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd, Salomon incorporated his boot and shoe repair business, transferring it to a company. He took all the shares of the company except six, which were held by his wife, daughter and four sons. Part of the payment for the transfer of the business was made in the form of debentures (a secured loan) issued by the company to Salomon. Salomon transferred the debentures to Broderip in exchange for a loan. Salomon defaulted on payment of interest on the loan and Broderip sought to enforce the security against the company. For something to be rationally justified, as in a belief, simply means, according to Rowe, to have good reasons supporting the belief , and that it is possible to rationally justify a belief that is false. Based on this theory, even though a theist and atheist have opposite beliefs, they can agree upon the possibility of the false belief to be justified. In our text, we are presented with six (6) definitions, namely a friendly and unfriendly theist, atheist and agnostic. An exception to this would be for recording of the census or needing to report on the demographics of a particular area of the country. As I mentioned above, for the sake of proposing a theory, these religious labels of friendly or unfriendly theist, atheist, or agnostic would be acceptable. But we have to be very careful in general terms. The dangers of labeling are significant, as labels put limitations on individuals by restricting their behaviors in a certain way by not enabling that person to experience personality changes different from that of their current ...
