A Career Path For A Career In College
This are questions that have plagued me during my whole time in college. What career path do I want
to follow? Where do I want to be in in six years? How do I get there to begin with? What are ways for
me to get contacts and network in the field of my choosing? In what field do I want my career to
developed? Those are all questions that I have seek to answer during the writing of this paper.
Therefore, let s start by discussing what my current goals are, first graduating from college is the
number one priority. Thereafter, I will like to apply for a job in either recreation or parks. Even though
this seems like a career path slightly different from what my current major of sports management and
recreation, there are a plethora of ways in which they are interconnected.
During our time in class I have discovered that, the most jobs related to my field are not exactly in the
sports management side, but in the parks and recreation side of the major. Consumers now days are
more willing to spend money on recreation than ever before. Therefore, leading to the job market of
parks and recreation to be ever increasing in both the public and private sector. To accomplish my
goals in the future I must first be able to get my foot in the door, Internships with Miami Dade County
assistant director s office or the operations office seem to be the best way to get into a job with the
county government. Nevertheless, there are skills that I must be proficient before attempting to

Advantages Of Gold Dinar System
Gold dinar system is one of the tools that can be recognised as a good indicator in international trade.
It is also can be determine as a valued metal because people over the world always demanding over it.
For my opinion regarding to this system, I strongly believe that the gold dinar system will benefiting
us over the world. As for Malaysia that has been categorised as a Muslim country, then it is the best
position to prove the efficiency of the system. Since we have been used fiat money in our system for
today, the currency of the paper actually does not have any intrinsic value. Thus, the currency that we
have nowadays, does not stable but eventually it is also fluctuated in its value unpredictably. By
having this system, it is actually a great solution for the current world financial ... Show more content

The possibility of the value that is fluctuated by the gold must be only by little percentage whether it is
up or down. So, it is not attainable to devalue the gold by higher percentage. From this level, the gold
dinar currency can be known as a good currency in international trade between the nations. If we have
been using gold as our currencies against the traded products in the market, then there will be no such
a problem regarding to the exchange rate. The using of the gold dinar is not intended to be used as a
currency for our daily transaction but we can be used this for the national currencies. I found that this
system have a good combination of few factors that will boost from any economic turbulence thus
gives a lot of opportunity towards business sector in the international trade. By having the gold dinar
system, the trades of bilateral and multilateral among the other countries can be straightening out
thereby to eradicate the foreign exchange risk. For this mode, gold is to be utilized as a unit of account
and a medium of trade rather than the national monetary

Sex Trafficking In Texas
One of the growing issues in our society is sex trafficking. Sex Trafficking is a hidden crime because
victims rarely come forward to seek help due to language barriers, fear of the traffickers, and they do
not know where or who to turn too. These young girls are lured into prostitution by force, fraud, or
promises of a better life. Sex Trafficking is a serious crime that often goes overlooked because people
are uncomfortable with the issue, and are not sure how to fight it. This issue can be found even at our
own back door. The same interstate many Lamar Orange students use is the same one sex traffickers
use to transport their victims. One in every five victims of human trafficking in the U.S. travels
through Texas along Interstate ten. (Texas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sex traffickers use violence, threats, lies, debt bondage, and other forms of coercion to compel adults
and children to engage in commercial sex acts against their will. (Polaris Project) In the area of
organized crime, sex trafficking is one of the fastest growing businesses. The Texas Department of
Public Safety issued statistics that approximately 100,000 children are estimated to be in the sex trade
in the united states each year. Texas had the second highest incoming trafficking tips in 2013. These
incoming tips totaled 2,236 calls, emails, and tip forms. As of June 2015 there has been 833 calls and
214 cases reported. These numbers are expected to double before the end of the year. Houston is
known to be one of the largest cities for sex trafficking. This makes interstate 10, which runs through
Houston, one of the main routes for sex traffickers. Due to interstate 10 passing straight through the
golden triangle, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange have seen a rise in sex trafficking victims. (8 12)
It is important to note that the actual number of sex trafficked individuals is higher than what has been
reported due to the secret nature of the crime. Many victims never come forward because of fear, age,
and a lack of realization that they are being used as sex

Summary Of Immigrants And Crime Statistics
This article has brought up the truth when it comes to immigrants and crime statistics. With the
upcoming American elections, the topic of immigrants is widely debated and discussed upon.
Statistics which are given indicate that crime rates for immigrants are increasingly high. This instills
moral panic in communities when there is no reason evident reason to be afraid. The crime statistics of
immigrant crimes are exaggerated and emphasized upon. Crime rates as the article mentioned are low.
Immigrants are not solely responsible for committing crimes. Moral panic occurs since the elections
and Donald Trump is creating fear and hostility towards immigrants. The presentation of crime
statistics is heavily weighed upon. In order to validate a claim, statistics are used. This is what this
article indicates. Mr. Trump is using dated statistics to support his claim of dangerous immigrants.
These accusations can evidently make immigrants feel as if they are targeted by politicians which in
turn, can result in marginalization. The correlation of immigrants and crime rates is a myth. The media
portrays immigrants to be dangerous and responsible for crimes. This is not the case; not all

American officers argue that they do not racially profile individuals. This is not a case, for instance,
the Arizona SB1070 would show occurrences of racial profiling. If this bill went through it would
allow officers to pull over and question anyone that resembled a Mexican appearance . This can
include anything from how the individual is dressed and their physical appearance. Arizona officers
argued that this was not racial profiling and they would use different means to question individuals.
Clearly this was not the case, this bill was meant to allow for racial profiling. This would be
considered a myth for the reason that officers argue that they never racially profile, but this bill would

A Visit to Cades Cove Essay
A Visit to Cades Cove
Having lived in the Blount County area all my life, I have taken many weekend trips with my family
and friends to Cades Cove, a beautiful place situated in The Great Smokey Mountains. Here you can
drive the eleven mile trail (visiting the homes of people who once resided in Cades Cove), picnic in
the park, and camp out for the weekend. Cades Cove contains a lot of history as well as beautiful sites.
Located near the Townsend entrance to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, the cove is a
great place to come and relax for a weekend. From ETSU, the trip is only a 2 1/2 hour drive. That may
seem long, but it is well worth the drive, just to escape the hectic college life. Cades Cove is such a

The springhouse would provide people with water and would also serve as a refrigerator. From here, I
would drive to the Cable Mill area, which is my favorite. It contains the Mill, the Mill race, and the
Dam. There is a blacksmith shop, a barn, and a sorghum mill as well in this area. It started out as the
home of Gregg Cable in 1879 and later became the home of Becky Cable. The last site is the Henry
Whitehead place. This cabin was made of mill sawn square logs and has a brick chimney. An older
one sits beside it. Ending your tour around the loop, you will find Sparks Lane, a two way road that
provides a shortcut back to the campground or an exit from the cove.
Although there is a great deal of history in the park, Cades Cove has a lot of things to offer its visitors.
There is so much to do as far as recreation is concerned. A number of people enjoy fishing, hiking,
horseback riding, backpacking, camping, sightseeing, and taking nature walks. Cades Cove offers
many trails for people who enjoy hiking. Most of these trails lead you to the cabins if you choose to
walk instead of drive. My favorite trail is the one up to Look Rock. Here you can look out over all the
mountains and the city. If you like photography, then it is a good idea to bring your camera along with
an extra role of film so you can take pictures of all the wildlife. I, for example, have a picture of
myself standing next to a deer.

Qualities of an Effective Teacher
What it means to be an effective teacher
Introduction
An effective teacher is someone who increases the understanding of a pupil. Effective teaching is the
ability of providing instructions to students of varying abilities while incorporating instructional
objectives and assessing the effective education form of students. In the evaluation of performance,
efficiency on the lesson plan and technique of delivery forms form part of the criteria taken into
consideration. The teacher s practices that ensure the higher level of assessment and active
participation are most successful. This outdo all the factors, such as size of the class, socioeconomic
conditions and gender (Sullivan 2001). The most significant aspect that gears a student to perform
well is the teachers details of classroom practices as demonstrated in one of the video links Pre
primary: Science Mini Beasts . They must have sufficient familiarity with the techniques and methods
associated with their career and must certify that the pupil learning must develop over the course of
the year (Sullivan 2001). Majorly presumed methods of quantifying teacher effectiveness include
pupils work, teacher s assessments, and lesson plans. An effective teacher employs creativity in the
classroom. It is both necessary to the student and teacher. Creativity involves qualities like
imagination, originality, and self expression. The teacher should encourage the use of imagination as
implied in the video footage. Imagination

Examples Of Machiavellian Characters In The Governor
Machiavellian Character Essay: The Governor Brian Blake, also known as The Governor, presented a
terror far greater than cannibalistic zombies throughout seasons two and three of the hit show, The
Walking Dead. He was psychotic; driven mad by the death of his daughter. Using his position as
governor within a small group of survivors and refugees of the zombie apocalypse, he manipulated,
terrorized, lied, cheated, many people in order to secure and maintain his position of power. Out of the
list given in the prompt for this paper, The Governor matches at least seven of the twelve
Machiavellian characteristics. The concepts exhibited most strongly in The Governor, however, are the
concepts of the end justifies the means and the use of force to avoid danger. In the midst of a zombie
apocalypse, the prioritization of self preservation above all else is understandable. However, even
when he had the resources to help himself and nearly 100 other people, The Governor still slaughtered
people who posed even the slightest threat to his position of power. Machiavelli writes for although

instances, this has been the case. In one particular instance, The Governor and his supporters happen

stage, the infant is uncertain about the world in which they live. To resolve these feelings of
uncertainty, the infant looks towards their primary caregiver for stability and consistency of care. If
the care the infant receives is consistent, predictable and reliable, they will develop a sense of trust
which will carry with them to other relationships, and they will be able to feel secure even when

infant can have hope that as new crises arise, there is a real possibility that other people will be there

Onna Daigaku Women
Women during the Tokugawa period were expected to be good Confucian wives and were restricted in
many aspects of their life. Although multiple expectations were bent in real life situations. In Onna
Daigaku, Kaibara Ekiken writes on how a woman should and should not act in public. He also writes
several different reasons why a woman should be divorced. This primary source is important in
understanding what was expected out of women during this period and helps us apply it to other
readings. An example of how one can apply the Onna Daigaku to The Doctor s Wife is the way Otsugi
acts repeatedly throughout the book. The Onna Daigaku states The five worst infirmities that afflict
the female are indocility, discontent, slander, jealously, and silliness. One of the bigger issues that
Otsugi has in becoming a good Confucian wife is that she bears a lot of jealousy and discontent with
her daughter in law Kae. At first, Otsugi was pleasant towards Kae and even stated how the two must
have been mother and daughter in a past life; but once Seishu comes back from Kyoto, Otsugi
becomes very critical of Kae and does not allow the daughter in law near her precious son. Also, the
reader gets an underlying sexual vibe from Otsugi towards her son. But whenever Seishu pinched his
wife s thigh to test the anesthetic, feelings of jealously raged within her and, at these moments she
hated Kae sufficiently to wish for her death. At one point of the book, Otsugi gets even more enraged

The Open Boat by Stephen Crane
The Open Boat Four men drift across a January sea in an open boat, since they lost their ship some
time after dawn. Now, in the clear light of day, the men begin to grasp the full gravity of their
situation. Realizing that their main conflict will be man versus nature, in this case, the raging sea. In
the short story The Open Boat, Stephen Crane gives an itemized description of the two days spent on a
ten foot dinghy by four men a cook, a correspondent, which is Crane himself, the injured Captain and
Billy Higgens, the oiler. The men in the open boat show us that compassion for one s comrade,

It is explained in the story that many men should have a bathtub bigger than the boat they were riding
in. This is amazing at the beginning of the story, when Crane mentions that they were the only ones to
survive how ungrateful these characters are to be alive in this big hateful world. During the story the
correspondent realizes how lucky he is to be alive and how this was the best experience of his life. He
learns how not to be cynical of men because we are all in the war against nature together. While the
men are afloat they learn a highly momentous lesson about man versus nature. The natural world does
not play favorites among men. The captain realizes this when all of his crew goes down with the ship
except him and three other men. The correspondent found this to be true when the shark was hunting
him while he rowed. The war with nature raged on in the story showing no signs of letting go. With
nature playing tricks on them as they go. For example, The people on the beach, waving at them. Also,
the man swinging his coat continuously. Then when the thought it could not get worse the boat
capsizes. When the exhausted passengers eventually drifted to shore the oiler finds himself a victim of
man versus nature. Another conflict in this story was with man versus self. An example of this conflict
is, If I am going to be drowned if I am going to be drowned if I am going to be drowned, why, in the

Disney officially started when the founder Walt Disney moved to California in 1923 to sell a cartoon
series that he made, Alice s Wonderland. On October 16, 1923 the series was picked up by a New
York distributed officially marking the beginning of the Disney corporation. Although many know the

1923 to 1927 the Alice series was continued until Walt decided to move to an all cartoon production

His brother Roy took head of the studio and the unseen ideas of Walt carried the company for the next
couple years. The late 60 s saw the launch of instant classics such as The Jungle Book, The

member who were trained under the Disney brothers.
As the movie industry changed from family to the teenage and adult scenes, Disney started
Touchstone Pictures. This section of the Disney empire was responsible for the movie Splash in 1984
and the tv series The Golden Girls the following year. By 1988 Disney started leading the filmmaking

Exoplanets
An exoplanet can be defined as a planet that orbits a star outside the solar system. One of the many
exoplanets that could possibly be habitable in the near future are far away. For example, Kepler 186 is
around 500 light years aways to put that in perspective that is around 5,878,625,373,183.607731 Miles
away. That is why we know so little about these planets that could support life on them.
Starting off, what is some of the criteria that is needed to live on a planet. The University of Utah put
it best when they described what is needed. One of the most basic needs to live on a different planet is
they need to be a comfortable distance away from their star that is ... Show more content on

First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity method
relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a planet. It
moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of its smaller
companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s normal light
spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its spectrum would
appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted towards the red.
Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method detects distant planets
by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes between it and the Earth. The
passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If such a dimming is detected at
regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very probable that a planet is orbiting the
star and passing in front of it once every orbital period. Lastly, the method of Microlensing is
Microlensing is the only known method capable of discovering planets at truly great distances from
the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood,
up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of
hundreds of light years, microlensing can find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy,
thousands of light years away ( How to Search for Exoplanet.). These methods are detrimental to the
discovery of new planets from far

The Importance Of Body Art
First of all, body art can promote the self awareness of people, which means one focuses attention on
himself and understands personal features, feelings and behaviors. Body art has a strong impact on
human vision and soul, because it can always catch the human nature and embodies the publicity of
human nature (Greif, J., Hewitt, 1999). In fact, the body is the most primitive and natural expression
of human beings, and the art of body is an external form of expression, taking the human nature as its
main feature. Since the body art reflects the nature of human body, it enables us to see the truest and
the most essential things in human society. As Hagel said, the body of human is the inner life of the
spirit . The word spirit is a realm yearns for truth, wisdom, cognition, beauty and love, which never
changes or fades. Therefore, on the one hand, body art raises individual conscious. This in turn 3
makes people think about themselves more deeply; understand both themselves and the development
of human nature more clearly. Undoubtedly, human society is able to make a progress by deepening
the understanding of human beings. On the other hand, body art awakens our appreciation of beauty
and the greatness of our creator. Other than showing the external beauty of the human body, body art,
indeed serves as an artistic appreciation. Modern artists borrow the body language to worship,
appreciate the natural life of youth, sing the praises of love and the pursuit of freedom

Porter s Five Forces Analysis Of Google And Google

The rivalry among existing competitors: Many other web browsers or search engines are not able to
meet what Google current is able to do with their advertising and how people search the web. People
have a choice to use either website to find their information that they want or advertise, but nothing at
the moment can compete with where Google s overall market share is. Yahoo and Bing are other
substitutes in the market. When looking closely at certain countries like Yahoo, for example, Yahoo
does not even make up 20% of the market. In the United States, since 2004 Google s market share has
been above it competitors starting at roughly 35% which at the time was close to that of Yahoo. As of
2009, Google represented roughly 68% of the American market where as, both Yahoo and Microsoft
market shares plummeted. Both of their market shares were under 20% which is no comparison to
Google in terms of their search engine market. In 34 countries represent in exhibit 3 of the case,
Google s market share as an international search engine was over 70% of each countries market.

Mainstream Media Violence
Source of Violence or false Accusation
Mainstream media have never liked video games, but it s just getting silly lately, said Dr Vance. A lot
of people like using the Aaron Alexis story as proof that videogames cause violence. Aaron Alexis was
a sailor in the navy, and had great enthusiasm for the video game Call Of Duty . On September 16th,
2013, he started to shoot at innocent people inside the Washington Navy Yard, killing 12 people. The
media likes to try and blame his liking of Call Of Duty for his actions, but Aaron had actually been
suffering from a mental illness which is more likely the actual reasoning for his actions (Claims that
video). Before his actions at the navy yard, he had reported hearing voices in his head telling him ...

Many people play videogames just for fun, and to help make time go by. They don t take what they do
in a video game, and always think it d be okay to do it in real life. Study co author, Allison Fine
Mishkin, who s been studying effects of video games said, Individuals who regularly played less than
an hour a day of any type of game were actually less likely than their non playing peers to fight with
or bully peers and were rated as better behaved by their teachers (Violent Video Games). One probable
reason kids who play video games are less likely to fight or bully, is they re able to get out any type of
aggression they have whilst playing a video game. Many video games, such as, Skyrim, World of
Warcraft, Fallout, and GTA are open world, and there s more to do than just violence. Almost any

General Electric Case Analysis
Introduction
General Electric (GE) is one of the most successful companies in the world and a large diversified
multinational conglomerate. GE is broken into 9 business sectors, Global and Growth Operations, GE
Capital, Healthcare, Oil Gas, Power Water, Energy Management, Appliances Lighting, Aviation and
Transportation. Once regarded as the most valuable company in the world in terms of market
capitalization, GE s performance has recently started to decline.
We recommend that GE divest underperforming units and focus on its core competencies and
restructure the management team.
Background
GE is recognized as one of the oldest and most successful companies in history. The key to its success
had been to combine massive size with constant adaptation. Over the decades, GE had adapted both its
business portfolio and its management systems to the demands and opportunities of a changing world
(Grant, 2016). GE was not only a big successful company but, for many other diversified companies,
it was also a model of management from its inception and through the 20th century. At the end of the
20th Century, GE had a legendary CEO, Jack Welch, who transformed the company s portfolio from a
manufacturing business to financial services. At the time of his retirement, GE Capital accounted for
nearly half of GE s revenue and the bulk of its assets (Grant, 2016).
Welch had been the heart of the most widespread and strategic disruption and transformation in GE s

`` Piano `` By D. H. Lawrence And Traveling Through The Dark
D. H. Lawrence, and English writer, and William Stafford, an American writer lived and wrote at
different times but their subject matter is often similar. Piano written by D. H. Lawrence and Traveling
through the Dark by William Stafford demonstrate remarkable similarity, each written about
experiences that describe emotions, however in very different ways. Although Lawrence and Stafford
are both respected poets, their writing styles, and expectations for readers differ significantly. While
Lawrence maintains a feeling of nostalgia and remembrances to keep the reader s attention, Stafford s
structure includes a bit of darkness and suspense for his readers. These astute writers are similar in
many ways, but they have one significant difference. The authors messages and delivery set them
apart. Lawrence and Stafford were kind of rebels in the literary field. One of Lawrence s most famous
novels, Lady Chatterly s Lover defied censorship and was banned from America until the late 1950 s.
Piano does not fit into the same mold, it is a sentimental and loving poem. Critics often refer to
Stafford as a pacifist and a conscientious objector during the war. Traveling through the Dark follows
the general style used in his poetry. He often delivers messages that are direct and bold. Both poets
were teachers at one point in their lives. Each one wrote using deceptively simple language and ideas.
Upon looking at these two poems, the reader automatically sees

it. After sitting in the damp for a few hours I crawled out of that hellhole to what I thought was the
nearest bar, and ordered two neat whiskeys one for me and the duke, just like we used to after the
particularly stupid missions. A bowl of soup was put out in front of me, as it slowly dawned upon me
that the bar I walked into was a diner, and the tender a waitress. Her eyes were a hazy hazel blue,
sparkly grand from the last of the ludes in my system, and she smiled some pity to me. I went to the
bathroom, cleaned myself up, and had the most goddammned delicious chicken noodle of my life. I
put my last twenty on the counter, conjured up a smile, went on my way and that s how I started

The War Of The World War I
It s been over a century since Austria declared war on Serbia. The assassination of Archduke Francis
Ferdinand, in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, sparked a war that was to end all others. It clearly did not.
Countless wars and conflicts have been fought since, each evolving into something different than the
last. As a result, modern warfare has evolved into something completely different than that of a
century ago. Although war is fought for fundamentally the same reasons, warfare, as it is practiced
today, is different from that of World War I. This is primarily due to the rise of counterinsurgency
operations, the focus on air superiority and the use of technology, such as unmanned aerial vehicles,
which have led to the decline of mass army against army war. Characterized by the declaration of war,
the amassing of vast battlefield formations, and the use of new technologies, such as the machine gun
and airplane, World War I was the epitome of conventional war. The myriad of alliances across Europe
in the early 20th century allowed military leaders to carefully craft offensive plans of war focused on
the weaknesses of known enemies and designed to swiftly defeat opposing military forces. For
example, Germany s Schlieffen Plan assumed that the Reich could only win a two front war by
crushing France before Russia could mobilize. Capitalizing on the lightly defended French north, a
result of France s assumption that Belgium s neutrality would not be violated, and

Courage is an important trait that needs to be present in order to affect change. The book in the time of
butterflies by Julia Alvarez demonstrates this need for courage in the story of the four Mirabal sisters
who acted with courage to create change in the Dominican Republic. They do this by showing great
courage in the face of oppression. Minerva was one of the bravest of the Mirabal sisters. She shows:
moral, intellectual, emotional, and physical courage throughout her life. These are demonstrated in her
leadership and her heroic actions of resistance. Some of her main sources of courage were her

movement made up mostly of men to be led by a woman . It not only took great amounts of courage
for her to step up as a political leader of the rebellion but also as a woman being able to break the

The Treaty Of Waitangi, By James Busby Essay
1. The Treaty of Waitangi is a written agreement between the British Crown and over 500 Maori
chiefs and is considered New Zealand s founding document. Lieutenant Governor William Hobson
was in charge of securing British sovereignty over New Zealand, supported by James Busby, the
British Resident in New Zealand. The Treaty was created in just a few days, and translated into Maori
by Missionary Henry Williams and his son Edward overnight on the 4th of February 1840. The
document was signed at Waitangi, Bay of Islands on the 6th of February 1840. Some 40 Maori chiefs
signed the Maori version that day, the first of which was Hōne Heke. During the following 8 months
another 500 chiefs signed the various copies of the Treaty that had been sent around the country. It
was declared by England s Colonial Office that the Treaty applied to all Maori tribes, including those
whose Chiefs had refused to sign. The British proclaimed sovereignty over New Zealand on the 21st
of May 1840.
The Treaty contained broad principles on which the British and Maori used to found the nation of New
Zealand and build its government. The document consists of three articles; Māori cede the sovereignty
of New Zealand to Britain; Māori give the Crown an exclusive right to buy lands they wish to sell,
and, in return, are guaranteed full rights of ownership of their lands, forests, fisheries and other
possessions; and Māori are given the rights and privileges of British subjects. (Ministry for Culture

The Four Phases Of San Diego
Wyatt Taylor
San Diego Fire Hazard
12/8/15
The four phases of San Diego s history starts the passive margin phase that took place from 400 to 200
million years ago. What is currently San Diego started as sediment produced above an oceanic rift.
This sediment became the underwater edge of the continental crust that would soon break off from
Pangaea to become the North American Continent.
The subduction phase of San Diego County s geologic past starts around 200 150 million years ago
near the end of the Jurassic period when North America Had began breaking off from Pangaea into its
own continent. The North American plate began moving west into the oceanic Faralon Plate, which
was moving east. The Oceanic Faralon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Large pools of Magma formed and cooled into Granitic rock and into what we now know as the
Peninsula Range batholiths. After this period, the angle of subduction between the faralon plate and
the North American Plate flattened and this greatly slowed the formation of any more mountains in
San Diego. At 90 million years ago, the mountains that were formed in San Diego country began to
erode and much of the sediment was deposited along the shoreline, extending it to the west. At 70
million years ago, the large coastal plain created by the eroded mountains sank into the ocean and
were eroded, the Cabrillo and point Loma formations were a result of this period. Erosion continues as
the subduction zone flattens and plays even less of a role and geologic activity is relatively calm until
the beginning of the extension phase. The extension phase begins around 28 million years go when the
Faralon plate is replaced by the Pacific plate and subduction stops. At 20 million years ago the pacific
plate begins pulling northwest, which results in stress and tensional force for the area soon to become
the Salton trough. As the North American Plate is pulled west and north, the San Andreas Fault begins
to form along with a rift valley. Some more small mountains in the Salton Trough were created as a
result of magma rising through cracks in the crust that had been thinned as a result of the tensional
stress. The transformational period begins at 10

The Help Character Analysis Essay
The Help Character Analysis
Did you know that when you were a girl, growing up, that one day you d be a maid? Yes ma am. Yes I
did (Stockett 169). The Help by Kathryn Stockett is a story about Aibileen Clark, a black housemaid,
and Eugenia, Skeeter Phelan, coming together to write a novel about how black maids are treated
good and bad by their white employers in their hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. Aibileen shows a
lot of change throughout the story, evolving from reserved, to progressive, and finally, to content.
The first character trait Aibileen shows is being reserved. Elizabeth Leefolt, who is Aibileen s
employer, was discussing with her best friend, Hilly Holbrook, about how colored people residing in
white households should have to have to use white bathrooms. Aibileen overhears this, and is angered,
she strongly disagrees with segregation. I m surprised by how tight my throat get. It s a shame I
learned to keep down a long time ago (Stockett 10). This quote reveals how Aibileen has been treated
by others in the past. She holds her tongue because she knows that speaking out will get her into a lot

Forecasting By Vector Autoregression Models
CHAPTER NINE
FORECASTING BY VECTOR AUTOREGRESSION MODELS
9.1 Vector Autoregressive (VAR) Models
Vector Autoregression (VAR) models were introduced by the macro econometrician Christopher Sims
(1980) to model the joint dynamics and causal relations among a set of macroeconomic variables. The
vector autoregression (VAR) is commonly used for forecasting systems of interrelated time series and
for analyzing the dynamic impact of random disturbances on the system of variables. The VAR
approach sidesteps the need for structural modeling by treating every endogenous variable in the
system as a function of the lagged values of all of the endogenous variables in the system.
The vector autoregression (VAR) model is one of the most successful, flexible, and easy to use models
for the analysis of multivariate time series. It is a natural extension of the univariate autoregressive
model to dynamic multivariate time series. The VAR model has proven to be especially useful for
describing the dynamic behavior of economic and financial time series and for forecasting. It often
provides superior forecasts to those from univariate time series models and elaborate theory based
simultaneous equations models. Forecasts from VAR models are quite flexible because they can be
made conditional on the potential future paths of specified variables in the model.
In addition to data description and forecasting, the VAR model is also used for structural inference and
policy analysis. In structural

Stein And Stryker Summary
Stein and Stryker respond to two important challenges within the field: Stein responds to the struggle
of finding a methodology of historiography that allows for a distinction to be drawn between popular
conceptions and lived experiences of sex, gender, sexuality, love, marriage and family, while Stryker
unravels the complexity of the register of the discourse, specifically when defining the taxonomies of
gender, sex and sexuality.
The former is significant because given that sexuality and sex were considered to be parts of the
private sphere of the lives of individuals, it is hard to find reliable, primary sources on which to base a
historical timeline on. In addition, finding sources originating from both institutions of power and

Psychological perspectives of smoking
This essay will consider how each of the 5 psychological perspectives explain smoking. I will cover
the psychodynamic, the behaviouristic, the biological, the cognitive and the humanistic approach.
Psychodynamic approach
The psychodynamic approach views behaviour in terms of past childhood experiences, and the
influence of unconscious processes. There are five psychosexual stages in Freud s theory, the first
being the oral stage during which the infant focuses on satisfying hunger orally. Sigmund Freud
believed that during this stage of development the person can become fixated in the oral stage of
development. An infant s pleasure and comfort centres on having things in the mouth during this ...

Ivan Pavlov conducted an experiment where he had surgically implanted tubes into the cheeks of dogs
to monitor the secretion of saliva whilst the dog was eating. (Pavlov, 1902) He noticed that the dog
started to salivate before the food was put in its mouth. He then presented to food to the dog whilst
playing the sound of a metronome, eventually the dog started to salivate when just hearing the
metronome alone. This can be related to smoking using the following model:
Conditioning diagram
Peer groups before conditioning acceptance and happiness
Peer groups + Smoking during conditioning acceptance and happiness
Smoking after conditioning acceptance and happiness
One of the main strengths of the behaviourist approach is that it focuses only on behaviour that can be
observed and manipulated. Therefore, this approach has proved very useful in experiments under
laboratory conditions. On the other hand this has been criticized for suggesting that most human
behaviour is mechanical, and that human behaviour is simply the product of stimulus response
behaviours.
The biological approach
The biological approach looks at our genetics to construct a reason why we act the way we do and
why we develop abnormal behaviours. This approach suggests that the reason people smoke is a
biological addiction from a chemical in cigarettes called nicotine. Nicotine is a chemical that alters

Identification Of An Object, Animal Or A Person With The...
Introduction
Identification of an object, animal or a person with the use of Radio frequency is the simple way to
define RFID. Technically speaking, it is the technology that incorporates the use of electromagnetic or
electrostatic coupling in the radiofrequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum for the unique
identification of the subject. History of RFID
Radiofrequency identifies the subject by reading the tags attached to the subject. These tags contain
electronically stored information which is captured by the reader. Tags may either be powered by
electromagnetic induction, some may collect energy from the interrogating radio waves and act as
passive transponder and some are powered by batteries and can operate at hundreds of ... Show more

Readers
RFID systems can be classified by the type of tag and reader.
A Passive Reader Active Tag (PRAT) system has a passive reader which only receives radio signals
from active tags (battery operated, transmit only).
An Active Reader Passive Tag (ARPT) system has an active reader, which transmits interrogator
signals and also receives authentication replies from passive tags.
An Active Reader Active Tag (ARAT) system uses active tags awoken with an interrogator signal
from the active reader.
Signalling
Host manages Reader(s) and issues Commands:
 Reader and tag communicate via RF signal
 Carrier signal generated by the reader
 Carrier signal sent out through the antennas
 Carrier signal hits tag(s)
 Tag receives and modifies carrier signal
sends back modulated signal (Passive Backscatter also referred to as field disturbance device )
 Antennas receive the modulated signal and send them to the Reader
 Reader decodes the data
 Results returned to the host application

Unfortunately, in many cases, people are at risk to live with heart complications for the rest of their
lives. Lastly, another important effect of smoking is the risk of getting emphysema. This deadly
disease also affects lungs and whole respiratory system.
These several reasons should prove to the smokers that this habit puts their health in danger, and
causes many diseases that lead to death.
Unborn babies who have mothers who smoke are more likely to die of sudden infant death syndrome
(SIDS). The placenta joins the mother and the baby, which is where the baby gets food and oxygen.
When a mother smokes the placenta does not work as well as it should. The babies are also more
likely to be born early. Every time a woman smokes she is giving her child less oxygen. It is very easy
for a pregnant woman to stop smoking when the people around her do not smoke. When a baby is
born to a mother who smokes the baby will not grow well as it should. Many experts agree that
smoking is an unhealthy habit every one specially and for pregnant women and can not only hurt the
mother but really can have negative effect on the baby as well.

Essay On Becoming A Recording Engineer
George Martin was the Beatles recording engineer during their 8 year career. George was the man who
gave life to much of the beatles music. He recorded them, mixed them, and mastered them. He floated
his own ideas into the music while simultaneously keeping it theirs. He is often considered the fifth
beatle due to his role in their music, as he rightly should. The career of a recording engineer is one
where a person can be creative and exercise his passion for music. In the Recording Engineers line of
work, there are two forms of employment. You can either work in a large studio or work out of your
home. Working in a Studio has its pros as well as its cons just like working at home does. A studio job
will mean you will have more work than your self employed counterpart and more Engineers to work
with. This is due to the fact that if the studio you are working for is a reputable studio, then you will
receive the fruits of said reputation. Though, Working in a studio means you will work full time, or in
some cases overtime, to meet a deadline. Most will also work on holidays and weekends for the same
reason. A self employed Engineer will often set his own hours, but work less frequently. When they
work, it is most often out of their own home studio. This is why most self employed engineers ...

Apollo 11 Research Papers
The Apollo 11 mission of 1969 marks the biggest leap in technological advancements for humanity.
Neil Armstrong is seen taking the first steps on the moon forever making his mark in humanity.
However, theories surrounding the moon landing have come to light. Conspiracy theorists say NASA,
the National Aeronautics Space Administration, have faked the Apollo 11 moon landing. Yet, present
evidence can support the authenticity of the moon landing. Evidence such as photos, rock samples,
technology, and computer monitoring support the moon landing. The moon landing of 1969 did
happen. One of the key pieces of evidence of the moon landing is photo evidence. Numerous photos

Dr. David Mckay, Chief Scientist for Planetary Science and Exploration at the Johnson Space Center,
concludes, Moon rocks are absolutely unique... They differ from Earth rocks in many aspects. The
rocks contain a composition unlike the composition of rocks from Earth. Randy L. Korotev of the
Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of Washington University in St. Louis gives, Lunar
samples show evidence of formation in an extremely dry environment with essentially no free oxygen
and little gravity... Lunar rocks and soil contain gases (hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, neon, argon,
krypton, and xenon) derived from the solar wind with isotope ratios different than Earth forms of the
same gases. The ability to imitate, or reconstruct, a fake lunar rock is ludicrous. Lunar rock samples
are simply composed of too many foreign materials for any scientist to recreate, even for the
government. Moreover, the lunar rocks have been inspected internationally by a myriad of scientists.
As any scientist who observed the rock, they will say the lunar rock has a more consistent composure
of iron oxide (FeO) to manganese oxide (MnO). Rocks from earth may appear similar, but the
composition of Earth rock is far more inconsistent than any lunar rock. Korotev himself says best, It
was easier and cheaper to go to the Moon and bring back some rocks than it would have been to create
all these fascinating features on Earth. Inspected by many and unopposed, the lunar rocks

During the story the correspondent realizes how lucky he is to be alive and how this was the best experience of his life. He learns how not to be cynical of men because we are all in the war against nature together. While the men are afloat they learn a highly momentous lesson about man versus nature. The natural world does not play favorites among men. The captain realizes this when all of his crew goes down with the ship except him and three other men. First off, the most common way to find new planets is Radial Velocity. The Radial Velocity method relies on the fact that a star does not remain completely stationary when it is orbited by a planet. It moves, ever so slightly, in a small circle or ellipse, responding to the gravitational tug of its smaller companion. When viewed from a distance, these slight movements affect the star s normal light spectrum, or color signature. If the star is moving towards the observer, then its spectrum would appear slightly shifted towards the blue; if it is moving away, it will be shifted towards the red. Secondly, Transit Photometry is the second most common method. This method detects distant planets by measuring the minute dimming of a star as an orbiting planet passes between it and the Earth. The passage of a planet between a star and the Earth is called a transit. If such a dimming is detected at regular intervals and lasts a fixed length of time, then it is very probable that a planet is orbiting the star and passing in front of it once every orbital period. Lastly, the method of Microlensing is Microlensing is the only known method capable of discovering planets at truly great distances from the Earth. Whereas radial velocity searches look for planets in our immediate galactic neighborhood, up to 100 light years from Earth, and transit photometry can potentially detect planets at a distance of hundreds of light years, microlensing can find planets orbiting stars near the center of the galaxy, thousands of light years away ( How to Search for Exoplanet.). Body art has a strong impact on human vision and soul, because it can always catch the human nature and embodies the publicity of human nature (Greif, J., Hewitt, 1999). In fact, the body is the most primitive and natural expression of human beings, and the art of body is an external form of expression, taking the human nature as its main feature. Since the body art reflects the nature of human body, it enables us to see the truest and the most essential things in human society. As Hagel said, the body of human is the inner life of the spirit . The word spirit is a realm yearns for truth, wisdom, cognition, beauty and love, which never changes or fades. Therefore, on the one hand, body art raises individual conscious. This in turn 3 makes people think about themselves more deeply; understand both themselves and the development of human nature more clearly. Undoubtedly, human society is able to make a progress by deepening the understanding of human beings. On the other hand, body art awakens our appreciation of beauty and the greatness of our creator. On September 16th, 2013, he started to shoot at innocent people inside the Washington Navy Yard, killing 12 people. GE is broken into 9 business sectors, Global and Growth Operations, GE Capital, Healthcare, Oil Gas, Power Water, Energy Management, Appliances Lighting, Aviation and Transportation. Once regarded as the most valuable company in the world in terms of market capitalization, GE s performance has recently started to decline. We recommend that GE divest underperforming units and focus on its core competencies and restructure the management team. Background GE is recognized as one of the oldest and most successful companies in history. The key to its success had been to combine massive size with constant adaptation. Over the decades, GE had adapted both its business portfolio and its management systems to the demands and opportunities of a changing world (Grant, 2016). GE was not only a big successful company but, for many other diversified companies, it was also a model of management from its inception and through the 20th century. At the end of the 20th Century, GE had a legendary CEO, Jack Welch, who transformed the company s portfolio from a manufacturing business to financial services. At the time of his retirement, GE Capital accounted for nearly half of GE s revenue and the bulk of its assets (Grant, 2016). Lawrence and Traveling through the Dark by William Stafford demonstrate remarkable similarity, each written about experiences that describe emotions, however in very different ways. Although Lawrence and Stafford are both respected poets, their writing styles, and expectations for readers differ significantly. While Lawrence maintains a feeling of nostalgia and remembrances to keep the reader s attention, Stafford s structure includes a bit of darkness and suspense for his readers. These astute writers are similar in many ways, but they have one significant difference. The authors messages and delivery set them apart. Lawrence and Stafford were kind of rebels in the literary field. One of Lawrence s most famous novels, Lady Chatterly s Lover defied censorship and was banned from America until the late 1950 s. Piano does not fit into the same mold, it is a sentimental and loving poem. Critics often refer to Stafford as a pacifist and a conscientious objector during the war. Traveling through the Dark follows the general style used in his poetry. He often delivers messages that are direct and bold. Both poets were teachers at one point in their lives. The assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand, in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, sparked a war that was to end all others. It clearly did not. Countless wars and conflicts have been fought since, each evolving into something different than the last. As a result, modern warfare has evolved into something completely different than that of a century ago. Although war is fought for fundamentally the same reasons, warfare, as it is practiced today, is different from that of World War I. This is primarily due to the rise of counterinsurgency operations, the focus on air superiority and the use of technology, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, which have led to the decline of mass army against army war. Characterized by the declaration of war, the amassing of vast battlefield formations, and the use of new technologies, such as the machine gun and airplane, World War I was the epitome of conventional war. The myriad of alliances across Europe in the early 20th century allowed military leaders to carefully craft offensive plans of war focused on the weaknesses of known enemies and designed to swiftly defeat opposing military forces. The Treaty of Waitangi is a written agreement between the British Crown and over 500 Maori chiefs and is considered New Zealand s founding document. Lieutenant Governor William Hobson was in charge of securing British sovereignty over New Zealand, supported by James Busby, the British Resident in New Zealand. The Treaty was created in just a few days, and translated into Maori by Missionary Henry Williams and his son Edward overnight on the 4th of February 1840. The document was signed at Waitangi, Bay of Islands on the 6th of February 1840. Some 40 Maori chiefs signed the Maori version that day, the first of which was Hōne Heke. During the following 8 months another 500 chiefs signed the various copies of the Treaty that had been sent around the country. It was declared by England s Colonial Office that the Treaty applied to all Maori tribes, including those whose Chiefs had refused to sign. The British proclaimed sovereignty over New Zealand on the 21st of May 1840. The Treaty contained broad principles on which the British and Maori used to found the nation of New Zealand and build its government. The document consists of three articles; Māori cede the sovereignty of New Zealand to Britain; Māori give the Crown an exclusive right to buy lands they wish to sell, and, in return, are guaranteed full rights of ownership of their lands, forests, fisheries and other possessions; and Māori are given the rights and privileges of British subjects. Large pools of Magma formed and cooled into Granitic rock and into what we now know as the Peninsula Range batholiths. After this period, the angle of subduction between the faralon plate and the North American Plate flattened and this greatly slowed the formation of any more mountains in San Diego. At 90 million years ago, the mountains that were formed in San Diego country began to erode and much of the sediment was deposited along the shoreline, extending it to the west. At 70 million years ago, the large coastal plain created by the eroded mountains sank into the ocean and were eroded, the Cabrillo and point Loma formations were a result of this period. • 34. Forecasting By Vector Autoregression Models CHAPTER NINE FORECASTING BY VECTOR AUTOREGRESSION MODELS 9.1 Vector Autoregressive (VAR) Models Vector Autoregression (VAR) models were introduced by the macro econometrician Christopher Sims (1980) to model the joint dynamics and causal relations among a set of macroeconomic variables. The vector autoregression (VAR) is commonly used for forecasting systems of interrelated time series and for analyzing the dynamic impact of random disturbances on the system of variables. The VAR approach sidesteps the need for structural modeling by treating every endogenous variable in the system as a function of the lagged values of all of the endogenous variables in the system. The vector autoregression (VAR) model is one of the most successful, flexible, and easy to use models for the analysis of multivariate time series. It is a natural extension of the univariate autoregressive model to dynamic multivariate time series. The VAR model has proven to be especially useful for describing the dynamic behavior of economic and financial time series and for forecasting. It often provides superior forecasts to those from univariate time series models and elaborate theory based simultaneous equations models. Forecasts from VAR models are quite flexible because they can be made conditional on the potential future paths of specified variables in the model. In addition to data description and forecasting, the VAR model is also used for structural inference and policy analysis. In structural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand this has been criticized for suggesting that most human behaviour is mechanical, and that human behaviour is simply the product of stimulus response behaviours. The biological approach The biological approach looks at our genetics to construct a reason why we act the way we do and why we develop abnormal behaviours. As any scientist who observed the rock, they will say the lunar rock has a more consistent composure of iron oxide (FeO) to manganese oxide (MnO). Rocks from earth may appear similar, but the composition of Earth rock is far more inconsistent than any lunar rock. Korotev himself says best, It was easier and cheaper to go to the Moon and bring back some rocks than it would have been to create all these fascinating features on Earth.
