Abstract. As A Young Girl In Her Adolescent, Horney Karen
Abstract
As a young girl in her adolescent, Horney Karen was raised under harsh conditions as written in her
diaries, her parents as she describes them as a cruel disciplinary figure held Karen s brother higher
than her, this made her feel less loved and became rebellious at an early age. Lack of parental love.
This could have led Karen to study more about the theory of personality, this paper, therefore, looks at
Horney s theory of personality and how one s life at a younger age affect their personality and relation
with others. This paper looks at Karen s take on other people s work about neurosis and his
contribution too in neurosis

Horney Karen (1942) said the take of men on women being pregnant, motherhood, breastfeeding, and
breasts lead to men devaluing women. She stated that the self is what determined one s being. That is,
if a person had an accurate revelation of themselves, they had a chance to realize and live to their
potential.
As a psychiatrist, Horney Karen developed a pattern of needs that were derived from neurosis. The
needs were based on the things Karen thought people required to be what they required in life.
According to Karen, people should have to have two views of themselves, one the real self and the
ideal self, whereby the real self is who one is and what they are. Whereby the real self has one s
potential for growth, the potential for happiness and power. The ideal self is, on the other hand, is used
to help the real self to develop one s potential and achievement of self. Horney came up with an
illustration explaining between the real self, despised and the ideal selves,

Medication Errors
Medication Errors and the five rights Nurses are responsible for multiple patients on any given day
making medication errors a potential problem in the nursing field. Medication administration not only
encompasses passing medication to the patients yet begins with the physician prescribing the
medication, pharmacy filling the correct prescription and ending with the nurse administering and
monitoring the patient for any adverse effect from the medication. According to the National
Coordinating Council for Medication Error Reporting and Prevention (NCCMERP), A medication

Daily drug dosages are given at specified times during a day, such as twice a day (b.i.d.), three times a
day (t.i.d.), four times a day (q.i.d.), or every 6 hours (q6h), so that the plasma level of the drug is
maintained at a therapeutic level. (BOOK )Medication timing also accounts for medication errors and
is of the utmost importance while administering medication to a patient. Timing of medication
delivery to patients is arranged strategically though pharmacy according to the physician s orders.
Attention is placed on the type of medication along with interaction a medication may have with other
prescribed medication on a patients chart. Nursing are pulled in many different directions, answering
physcians calls, admitting new patient and dealing with emergent situations that often times takes
them off schedule. It is impossible to give every patient on the floor medication at the expected time

medication one hour before and one hour after medication stated due on the electronic record.
Performing the necessary research for hospital facility guidelines as regards to medication distribution
and abiding by those, help illuminate medication time errors. Giving medication at the appropriate rate

Disadvantages Of Membrane Distillation
As time goes by, the fresh water supplement for living on the earth planet will become a serious
problem [1 3]. In addition, the Middle East is mentioned as one of the poorest regions in all over the
world in terms of water resources with less than 1% of the total available global freshwater per capita
[4, 5]. Therefore, one of the strategic options to satisfy the current and future request for fresh water in
countries established around Gulf is to build up desalination units. So, immediate need has arisen to
construct economic units for water desalination. Nowadays, it has been proved that membrane
separation processes have several advantages for desalination and water reuse of contaminated
resources in comparison to the conventional separation methods [1, 6 8]. ... Show more content on

MD is a thermally driven separation process that utilizes a hydrophobic, membrane as a contactor
media between two fluids kept at different temperatures where the separation is obtained by the mass
transfer of the vapor phase. The driving force of the process is given by a partial vapor pressure
difference that caused from the temperature difference [13 17]. Two advantages of MD are, the
process performance is not highly affected by high feed salinity as see water, and has the theoretical
ability to reach 100% salt rejection [13, 18, 19]. There are commonly four types of membranes
arrangements for MD process: Direct Contact Membrane Distillation (DCMD), Vacuum Membrane
Distillation (VMD), Air Gap Membrane Distillation (AGMD), and the Sweeping Gas Membrane
Distillation (SGMD) [18, 20 22]. AGMD configuration is appropriated for water desalination [23, 24],
on the other hand water gap showed higher thermal efficiency and less internal heat loss in
comparison to AGMD [18, 25]. Therefore, these two arrangements are commonly used for the see

Not Another Pledge Death Essay
Greek Life, or the presence of fraternities and sororities, exists in many colleges and universities.
According to Michael Grandillo in an Encyclopedia article, there are more than 5,500 chapters on 800
campuses throughout the United States and Canada. Although Greek Life is so common, participation
in such organizations can be a controversial topic, particularly when critics suggest that hazing can be
detrimental to students health and college careers. For those who do not know much about Greek Life,
or the process that one goes through to become affiliated with this system, there is first a week called
rush week, where fraternities and sororities host parties in attempt to cajole students into joining their
organizations. If members ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carrington was pronounced dead from water intoxication, which caused his brain and lungs to swell.
Korry reports that similar hazing related deaths have occurred at least once a year for over three
decades. Evidently, not all Greek organizations have upheld a safe, educational, and life changing
pledge process that they often promise. In addition, many students fear that pledging a fraternity or
sorority will cause their grades to suffer tremendously for a semester. In reality, this is a matter of
ignorance, for most Greek organizations designate certain hours where their pledges must be in the
library to do their work or study. If pledges decide not to capitalize on these library hours, then it
would be their own fault, rather than the fault of the organization, for their poor performance. Despite
these potential risks, students can benefit greatly from participating in Greek Life. Although some
students are aware of the benefits that Greek life has to offer, others join Greek organizations merely
for the social status that comes along with wearing letters, or to add a line to their resumes. In my
opinion, those who pledge a Greek organization learn many life skills that will prove to be
advantageous for the rest of their lives. Students that are timid often become more outgoing after
pledging, because certain pledging tasks involve talking to and meeting new people.

Dr. Jekyll being an eminent doctor, with a powerful social and educational background, has an
extremely sophisticated and refined appearance a large, well made, smooth faced man of fifty (44). As
the quote suggests Dr. Jekyll has a majestic and renowned persona. The charity he does for the society,
and his living Standards are all visible through the appearance he manifests. On the other hand, Hyde
being Dr. Jekyll s contrivance, to carry out evil purposes has an unattractive appearance and a
repellent demeanor. There is something wrong with his appearance; something displeasing, something
downright detestable (35). As per the quote Hyde looks very ugly. His deeds are uglier and

every act and thought centered on self; drinking pleasure with bestial avidity from any degree of
torture to another ().As the quote demonstrates Hyde enjoys drinking, which he cannot do as Dr.

to more serious offences. As this boosts, Jekyll s confidence, he ends up indulging into violent acts,
With ape like fury, he was trampling his victim under foot, and hailing down a storm of blows (). The
simile in this quote delineates Jekyll s unexpressed desire that erupts through Hyde. His small desires
manifests into bigger crimes. Stevenson uses this theory to showcase temptation the evil cause of
problems in mankind. Victorian England is a major backdrop in Dr. Jekyll s experiment to have double

Alex Rider Book
The book Snakehead by Anthony horowitz is the seventh book in the Alex Rider books . I have to say
that every single one of the Alex Rider books give me a mind blowing snensation. I then go on to
idolize Alex Rider because he everything a teenage boy would want to have acheived. Since Alex is
fourteen years of age, the most youthful spy agent to have served Britain, the United States and
Australia, the book lands into the teenage genre which is why many young adult boys will love to read
about a 14 year old boy conquering bad guys and therefore benefiting the world. Which is a boyhood
dream. So far Snakehead has exceded my excpectations, as well as underachieved in some areas, so i
still have mixed emotions about the book. Which will probably change as i eventually read on. The
Alex Rider book has been an underachiever because it has been unrealistic. Even though its a 14 year
old boy as a spy, there should be some mild form of reality which will balance the book in between the
real and fantasy world. The over achieveing part was how he has managed to connect the previous
book to the current one im reading now, checking every box and explaining it wih beautiful and
precise writing, the prologue had no flaws and it was just like watching another episode of a seires. All
of the Alex Rider books have not been relatable to my personal life because i have not experienced

Positive Impact Of Christopher Columbus Discoveries
Positive Impact of Christopher Columbus Discoveries
The world is a better place because of Christopher Columbus important discoveries in the New World.
His explorations resulted in the vast expansion of property for Europe, the exchange of goods and
cultures between countries and a change in the worldview of geography. Columbus s explorations
were the catalyst for unprecedented trade known as the Columbian Exchange, which started the
exchange of goods and ideas that would last for centuries and change the world forever. His
discoveries unearthed new perspectives and created a mix of diverse biology between Europe and the
New World. These exchanges changed the world we live in today and will continue to fuel centuries
of exploration and discoveries. The Columbian Exchange was the beginning of the expansion of trade
between the New World and Europe. The Columbian Exchange started the flow of goods between
continents that had not shared the same borders since Pangaea. McNeill stated Columbus voyage,
along with the many voyages that followed, disrupted much of the biological segregation brought
about by continental drift. (McNeil, 1). Journalist Charles Mann states in his research for his book,
1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created, on the Columbian Exchange that No other

Mann says, marked the start of a new age, not only for the Americas but also

Year 10 Geography Research Report
YEAR 10 GEOGRAPHY RESEARCH REPORT:
Introduction:
Cronulla is a beachside suburb in southern Sydney, it is located 34.0574° S, 151.1522° E which is 26
kilometres south of the Sydney CBD (see figure 2). It is governed by the Sutherland Shire Council.
Cronulla s coastal environment is on the Kurnell Peninsula, which is made up of a tombolo. A tombolo
is a sand spit connecting a rocky outcrop or island to the mainland. So this forms a barrier between
Botany Bay and Bate Bay. The two areas of study visited were Wanda Beach and the Greenhills Beach
development.
A healthy dune system contains a primary and secondary dune defined by the start of vegetation as
you progress from the swash and berm. The vegetation helps stabilise the landform helping to protect
it from erosion, it also helps the soil in the secondary dune to become more stable and erosion
resistant. The decaying plant material creates humus which makes the soil more nutrient allowing
greater plant diversity.
At Wanda Beach, the tall trees and scrubs act as a windbreaker which further protects the sand
formation. According to the field work results collected using the anemometer (see figure 3), the
Aeolian processes at the front and the top of the primary dune is where the wind speed is highest. So it
is important to plant plants such as the hairy spinifex to stabilise the sand due to its expansive root
system and its ability to survive low water conditions.
Management Strategies:
The Cronulla coastal environment

Research Paper On Ivory
Ivory Is it worth it?
Everyday elephants and rhinos are being poached in order to get their tusks and horns. These tusks
and horns are made of ivory which is sold for very large sums. Many things are being done to stop
poaching but elephants and rhinos are still being poached.
People in Asia mainly China are the main buyers of ivory from illegally poached rhinos and elephants.
The ivory business is a multi million dollar business. They buy elephant tusks for $1,500 per pound.
Rhino horns are $45,000 per pound, or $6,000 for 100 grams. Many things are trying to be done but
there is still illegal ivory trading. There is a near total ban on ivory in the US. The Chinese
government has become stricter so people trade in Vietnam and Laos where there is a less strict
government. The main buyers of ivory are in Asia but people don t want to change their ways so many
people still participate in the business of ivory trading.
Elephants and rhinos are disappearing at an alarming rate due to illegal poaching. Many elephants are
being killed everyday and they could soon be extinct. Tanzania s elephant population decreased by
two thirds and Mozambique s fell by 40%. Elephants have dropped in population from more than 10
million to only 479,000 today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theme Of Being Mortal
Being Mortal and its Consequences
1. Introduction
In Being Mortal, Atul Gawande uses his experiences as a surgeon, professor and public health
professional to discuss many facets of Western end of life care and the process of growing old in a
modern age. Overall, I have found that three overpowering themes in this novel are security versus
autonomy, a need for pragmatism surrounding the concept of death, and our medicalized society s
devaluation of hospice and palliative care. Regarding these themes, I have chosen to reflect on my
grandparents, death in the West and social role valorization, respectively.
2. Security Versus Autonomy An especially relevant theme to Gawande s Being Mortal is the
spectrum of security versus autonomy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Personally, the importance of one s freedom in life is drawn upon by the lives of my grandparents.
Although my maternal grandmother and grandfather are 75 and 77 years of age, respectively, they
continue to live fulfilling and productive lives. It is not to be said that they have not suffered from
problems related to aging, such as my grandfather suffering from severe arthritis, but they value their
freedom to continue living their own lives more than anything. The true worth of their ability to write
their own stories is most evident in the fact that they are motivated to continue to write them
throughout old age.
3. A Need for Pragmatism in the Face of Death As mentioned in a Frontline interview with Gawande
about Being Mortal, life s two unfixables are aging ang dying ( Dr. Atul Gawande On Aging, Dying
And Being Mortal ). Despite this well known fact, most physicians and patients alike are
overwhelmed by the concept of death. Moreover, in times of medical crisis, terminally ill patients
allow themselves to be given the medical equivalent of lottery tickets in the hopes of making a
miraculous recovery (Gawande 171). The allowance of end of life decisions to be controlled by the
concepts of medicine or technology is a dangerous path which shows a lack in pragmatism regarding
death (Sinclair). Although the overall avoidance of the

Introduction
Do you know anything about cave paintings? Well I am here to inform you about them. For example,
the majestic paintings of bison in Cosquer Cave. In Altamira more beautiful animals of the Ice Age. In
Lascaux too were majestic animals like horse, deer, bison, etc. These facts are truly amazing. These
caves are jewels of mother nature. Also, about Carbon 14 Dating and how it works with its formulas.
Cosquer Cave
In 1985 a professional Scuba diver named Henri Cosquer discovered the cave. Cosquer Cave is
located in Ardeche department, on the Mediterranean coast close to the Rhode river. The cave was
discovered by accident when Henri was diving and found an opening.
He kept a secret for many years and went to check it himself from time to time. He trusted
archaeologist Jean Clotte who was also a speleologist. Jean Clotte was a speleologist and
archaeologist he is very important in the government of France. He called Jean Courtin who was a
archaeologist and a professional diver he was also very important. They didn t make the discovery
public because the public could harm the paintings.
They kept it a secret for 6 years. Later the French government found out about it and told the public.
The paintings are of 10,000 years of difference. The animal paintings are +18,000 years old and the
hand paintings are 28,000 years old. There is a huge difference of time because the theory is that the
cave was lost however, then it was rediscovered. The cave was

Ecological Succession Essay
1. Explain the process of ecological succession, including the role of plants in maintaining
biodiversity and the survival of organisms after a disturbance to an ecosystem. Ecological succession
allows a biological community to evolve over time (2). This succession is divided into two distinct
sections: primary and secondary succession. Primary succession allows life to form in regions with
soil incapable of sustaining larger plants and by extension, larger animals (2). Secondary succession
occurs in areas where a community used to exist, but was removed; leaving behind soil capable of
sustaining life (2). This process allows bare rock to transform into a hillside or a forest to recover after
a fire and is extremely important to ecosystems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Argumentative Essay On Co-Rumination
Co rumination is a moderately new development, alluding to widely examining and returning to
issues, guessing about issues, and concentrating on negative emotions with associates. Despite the fact
that it is like self exposure in that it includes uncovering and examining an issue, it is more centered
on the issues themselves and in this manner can be maladaptive. While self exposure is seen as a
positive angle found in close kinships, a few sorts of self revelation can likewise be maladaptive. Co
rumination is a sort of conduct that is emphatically associated with both rumination and self exposure
and has been connected to a background marked by uneasiness in light of the fact that co ruminating
may compound stresses over whether issues will be determined, about negative results of issues, and
depressive findings because of the steady negative spotlight on upsetting themes, rather than critical
thinking. In any case, co rumination is likewise firmly connected with superb kinships and closeness.

imperialism in Burma was more costly than beneficial; even though the British improved and

One Of The Main Problems With The Law Is Injustice In The
One of the main problems with the law is injustice in the criminal justice system. There are so many
innocent people serving time in jail. The criminal justice system in America was created to keep
communities safe, to respect and restore victims, and to return offenders who leave prison to be self
sufficient and law abiding. What the system has become is a monumental failure that our states and
nation can no longer afford. There has been a growth in crime, but that may be because of the growth
of technology and receiving information. Wrongful conviction and prison overcrowding are known as
major issues in the criminal justice system because prisoners are held liable for crimes they did not

According to statistics, Blacks have a disproportionate representation in the prison system. Some say
that Blacks and Latinos and more likely to be charged for a crime because of their race (Blumstein
p.39). Incarceration rates between Blacks and Whites are disproportionate, with a ratio of seven blacks
to one white. This is a profound example of racial discrimination (Gabbidon, and Greene). Most say
that the main cause of wrongful conviction is corruption in the justice system. The Justice System may
convict an innocent of a crime just so someone is held liable for said crime, and in order for them to
move on to the next case. We have all heard or read, whether on the news or in the paper, about
criminal cases where individuals are convicted of crimes and sometimes even given the death penalty;
and in most of these cases they were given a public lawyer, that may have been inexperienced with
these types of cases, or did not put as much work into the case as they should have. Which led to a
clearly innocent individual being held liable for a crime. Such incompetency on the part of a defense
attorney undoubtedly results in some wrongful convictions (Warner). Lives have been known to be
torn apart by prosecutorial misconduct. Numerous safeguards have been placed in our judicial system,
to help protect against wrongful convictions of innocent people. One of many protections our judicial
system provides to protect against wrongful convictions is the presumption

Because the female workers are expected to sound more cheerful rather than aggressive, customers
feel less hesitant in expressing their frustration. According to Hoschild, because a woman s gender is
accorded lower status, a woman s shield against abuse is weaker (Hoschild, 1983, p. 175). Because of
the lower status shield, female workers have a tendency to be more abused than male workers.
Another aspect of the call center that is gendered is on the emphasis of competition. Pierce mentions
how lawyering can be a game and that male litigators compar[e] the number of wins to the courtoom
and the dollar amount of damages as a way to show off their manliness (Pierce, 2004, p. 78). At the

able to leave work early but get paid for all hours, having the monthly opus card paid are among some
of the rewards that are offered. The rewards reinforce competition but so does having a quota system.

The Decline of The U.S. Education System Essay
Education in the United States has long been a concerned issue for teachers, parents, and

overall academic improvement across the country.
Proper education has now become a moral necessity in order for individuals and societies to grow and

education, and decline in academic test scores. The U.S. spends more per student than any OECD
nation, and other countries also seemingly invest funds differently than us. In addition, most countries

Education Secretary Arne Duncan said This is an absolute wake up call for America, The results are
extraordinarily challenging to us and we have to deal with the brutal truth. We have to get much more
serious about investing in education. ( USA Today In ranking, U.S. students trail global leaders, 2010,

While the U.S. has shown minor improvement in the PISA science test scores from 2006 to 2009 there
is still a large margin for improvement needed in all areas. But questions still remain to be answered
as to why there is such a large gap in comparison between the U.S. education and other countries. In
his remarks regarding the release of the PISA results, Secretary Arne Duncan quotes the fact that the
OECD has concluded in their study that the primary issue is not directly related to diversity or
disadvantaged backgrounds of public school students but that Socio economic disadvantage leads
more directly to poor educational performance in the United States than is the case in many other
countries. (Secretary Arne Duncan s Remarks at OECD s Release of the Program for International
Student Assessment (PISA) 2009 Results, December 7, 2010)
In addition OECD concluded that, children from single parent families score much lower in reading
than their peers from two parent or other types of families, even after accounting for socio economic

It s Sake By Bernard Goldberg
Every kind of media has there own bias that they put into the news that the station is reporting. They
will use words and images that bring your mind to a certain political party. Some people can see that
the media is slanted left on the political scale but others do not see it. What people need to do is to
identify the words and terminology that the media is using to see if there is any bias involved. People
also have a problem when they read an article and read it like it is the only truth. When people do this
their reaction may be different than if they knew what kind of bias the author had. In Bernard

Global Automotive Industry- Porter s 5 Forces
Porter s Five Forces Analysis
Michael Porter identified five forces that influence an industry. These forces are: (1) degree of rivalry;
(2) threat of substitutes; (3) barriers to entry; (4) buyer power; and (5) supplier power. For more on
this framework proposed by Porter, please see Appendix C. Like other industries operating under free
market, capitalistic systems, viewing the automotive industry through the lens of Porter s Five Forces
can be helpful in understanding the forces at play.
Degree of Rivalry
Despite the high concentration ratios seen in the U.S. market, which typically signify that a lesser
degree of competition is seen in the industry, rivalry in the U.S. and the global automotive industry is

The switching costs associated with using a different mode of transportation, such as train, may be
high in terms of personal time (i.e., independence), convenience, and utility (e.g., luggage capacity),
but not necessarily monetarily (e.g., round trip train fare on MARTA would most likely be less
expensive than the cost of fuel consumed on a similar round trip, daily parking, car insurance, and
maintenance).
The exception to this statement occurs in the global urban areas with high population densities. In
these areas, the substitutes available (e.g., walking, mass transit, bicycles, etc.) can be less costly than
automobiles and thus alternative modes of transportation are often preferred.
Also, there are inherent underlying social and cultural attitudes that keep people from owning
automobiles in some parts of the world. Many nations are not as spread out or as mobile as the U.S.;
they are constrained either by geography, race, class, or religion and the need for personal
transportation is not as great, yet. The American dream of a car [or two] in every garage is not what
the rest of the world currently wants or needs. However, the marketing arms of the global automotive
manufacturers are certainly working very hard to change this paradigm, and with unprecedented
production volumes world wide, all signs indicate that they are succeeding. Most with the ability and

Carports Research Paper
Why should you prefer carports than garage? You need to protect your car from the harsh weather
when not in use. For that you can either build a garage or a carport. If you re just hoping to keep the
sun from beating up your car s paint job all day, a covered carport is probably all you need. What is a
carport? A carport is a small structure usually used to protect cars from the outside elements. The
structure can be attached to a wall or free standing. Carports more often than not are open to both
sides. However, one can also find those that are partially or completely closed. Carports usually come
in three types: single, double and triple carports. The type of design will depend on the number of
vehicles one wants to store. If a person has two or three vehicles, he or she can go for triple or double
structures. The structure can be installed on a paved surface, level ground, stem wall or even concrete
slab. Carports can be made of timber or metal, and the roof can be made from polycarbonate,
Colorbond, Zincalume, or even other materials (such as tiles). ... Show more content on

The first advantage of using a carport over a garage is the cost of installation. It will cost you half as
much to build a carport as a garage. The materials used for the construction of a carport is cheaper
than building a garage. Because a carport isn t an enclosed or liveable space, it s not necessary to build
fire rated walls or ceiling. You won t have to bother with so many city regulations and fire safety
considerations during construction. Carports are less massive so they fit in with the architecture better.
Since carport is more or less open, your car has plenty of natural ventilation. A carport can be
modified to suit a building or home. Design details such as gables can also be added to compliment a

Sigmund Freud s Psychodynamic Approach
The Psychodynamic Model, developed by Sigmund Freud, views the cause of mental disorders as the
result of childhood trauma, anxieties, and unconscious conflicts. According to Freud, human behavior
tends to express instinctual drives that function at the unconscious level. These instinctual drives can
be afflicted with sexual or aggressive impulses and any threatening experiences that we block from
our consciousness which results in emotional symptoms.
The psychodynamic model consists of several different aspects to help explain human personality and
why people engage with instinctual drives. One aspect of the model is the three personality
components, the id, the ego and the superego, conveying that all behavior is a product of interaction.
The id is found at the unconscious level and influenced by the pleasure principle while the ego is
viewed as the realistic and rational part of the mind. The superego is part of the conscience, therefore,
it discourages people from engaging in immoral and unethical behaviors. Fred also suggested that the
development of human personality is drastically affected by early childhood experiences which can be
found in five psychosexual stages: the oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital. Another approach that
the psychodynamic model uses is defense mechanisms which help ... Show more content on

they can take advantage of social services to support their new life. The need for programs like
Housing First is due to the rise in poverty and the growing shortage of affordable housing for the

Compare And Contrast Gasoline Cars Vs Electric Cars
Which do you think is better for the environment: an electric powered car or a gasoline powered car?
Many people would automatically assume that the electric car would be much more efficient in
keeping our environment clean. The truth is, this assumption is not necessarily correct, as electric cars
can be just as bad, if not even worse, than their gasoline counterparts. For example, they burn fossil
fuels just like gasoline cars do to produce the electricity to power the car anyways. That power must
come from somewhere, and that somewhere is in a power plant that burns fossil fuels just like the gas
car engines. Also, having the government subsidize this new market is causing quite a bit of debt.
Taxpayers are paying for the production of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just because they do not burn fuel directly within the engine itself does not mean that it does not
require said fuel to run. The electricity that power these cars comes from power plants that burn fossil
fuels to produce the electricity to power the cars. This electricity then must change forms once again
when the electricity is then converted to chemical energy to charge the battery and again when this
energy is converted to power the engine. In total, 75% of the energy is lost to form changes, leaving
only 25% to run the car. Additionally, taxpayers are paying the government, which is using that money
to fund the marketing of electric cars. The federal government is in $15 trillion of debt all for an idea
that electric cars are more green , even though most Americans do not even have the money to
purchase an electric car. Finally, natural gas would work much better than electric or fossil fuel
powered cars. It gives off far less carbon emissions and reduces nitrogen oxide, particulate matter,
hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and greenhouse gas emissions, which can

Discuss And Understanding Buffer Solutions
INTRODUCTION
This assignment is going to be discussing and understanding Buffer solutions. The basic principles
will be looked at in order to go into more depth to understand the biological importance of buffer
solutions and how these solutions are produced as well as how the body is affected by this and the
adjustments made. This extended research task is being conducted to fully understand the use and
main reasons that buffers exist, not just for environmental reasons but also for biochemical reasons.
The scenario that will be looked at is the buffering system inside the human body; the human body
needs buffers in order to stabilize the pH levels to keep everything functioning properly.
A buffer is an aqueous solution that has a generally stable pH level; this means that it can resist pH
changes when small quantities of either an acid or a base are added to that specific buffer solution.
However, each specific buffer has a buffer capacity; this is the amount of an acid or base that can be
added to the buffer solution before the pH dramatically begins to change. However in some cases it
can also be defined as the amount of a strong acid or base that must be added in order to change the
pH levels of one litre of solution by one pH unit. The buffer solution is a result from a weak acid and
conjugate base to form the salt of that acid/ionic compound and water. For a buffer to occur there
needs to be equal numbers of moles for the acid with the hydrogen ions and the base

Prayer being allowed in public schools has been a controversial issue in our country. Prayer is defined
as a request for help or expression to God or thank of thanks toward an object or worship. Everyone

Prayer in school would allow children to express their beliefs. I believe nothing is wrong with setting

Nuclear Power Vs Solar Power
Nuclear power and solar power are both widely used forms of power generation, and they have been
influential in power generation around the world. Nuclear and solar power share many differences and
similarities. One main similarity is their purpose. Nuclear and solar power help to provide energy
throughout the world. Without these forms of power generation, the power grid would mainly consist
of coal and natural gas. These substances emit harmful greenhouse gases and pollution when they are
burned to create energy. Nuclear and solar power helps to lessen the need for these more harmful
alternatives. This main similarity is contrasted by the large amount of differences between the two.

Solar power is very safe, but nuclear power can be very dangerous if not used correctly. Nuclear fuel
emits high levels of radiation that can be extremely harmful to individuals. Radiation can cause cancer
and radiation sickness; both are potentially fatal. There have been many nuclear reactor accidents such
the Chernobyl and Fukushima reactor meltdowns. However, if nuclear power is controlled, it is
relatively safe. Solar power, also, does not produce waste, but nuclear reactors produce dangerous
radioactive waste which must be buried in special mines to protect the surface from radiation.
Renewability is another difference. Solar panels use the sun to produce power, so this source of energy
is completely renewable. However, nuclear power use uranium that must be mined from the earth to
make power; once this uranium is used, it will never grow back. The amount of land used also differs
between the two. Solar power might not be the most environmentally friendly due to the vast amounts
of land needed for solar farms. Nuclear power does not need as much land for nuclear reactors. In
conclusion, both nuclear power and solar power have many similarities and differences. They are both
have great potential for becoming major sources of power generation, and they both have large
scientific backing. Without them, the world would be a very different

remains in a monastic church were the relics of saints preserved in shrines behind the high altar. The
Church became a center for learning, with the monks becoming cultural carriers transmitting the
written treasures of the past by preserving and copying ancient texts. An example of this would be
Hrotsvit. Hrotsvit wrote books about Christian legends and wrote Roman dramas with an Christian

The Long Term Effects Of Social Disadvantage Essay
to help industry and commerce make the most of its human resources. However, psychological test
data can also confront us with problems which are difficult to handle. Many of the controversies
which surround test use reflect existing problems in society. For example, differences in test scores
between blacks and whites in the United States are generally considered to be a reflection of the long
term effects of social disadvantage. Research shows that these differences in test scores are not due to
bias in the tests. They are real, and are predictive of real social outcomes, to differences in academic
attainment, differences in job performance, and so on. Given the potential power of psychological
tests as a tool, it is vital that they are used carefully and appropriately. Use of tests should always be

should always be carried out with due regard for local cultural factors and for professional and ethical

fact to grasp. Personally, by the grace of God, I have never encountered a situation where the color of
my skin has been a problem. This does not deny the fact there is this problem out in the world.
Discrimination can be in many forms race, gender, national origin, religion, disability, and even age.
These many forms of discrimination would cause a division in our nation. Now the church has tried to
find ways to mend this division that is created between people. In Paul s letters to the Ephesians he
addresses this issue. With Peter s letter to the Ephesians he takes a look at the division between the
Jews and then the Gentiles. In the biblical commentaries of the book of Ephesians done by Harold
Hoehner and James Boice, they discus two ways that these verses are talked about. Hoehner and Bocie
talk about how Paul is speaking in the past present and future tense of how the division in the church
came to be, was destroyed and should never happen again. With Paul identifying the Jews as the
circumcised and the Gentiles uncircumcised. This clarification according to Hoehner shows how the
gentiles have no favor or privileges with God like the Jews. Since the Jews had been given Israel and
privileges it is thought that they are better off than the Gentiles (Hoehner 2002). The Jews therefore
have been giving an advantage over the Gentiles (Boice 1988), Now since they are both in

As A Young Girl In Her Adolescent, Horney Karen Abstract As a young girl in her adolescent, Horney Karen was raised under harsh conditions as written in her diaries, her parents as she describes them as a cruel disciplinary figure held Karen s brother higher than her, this made her feel less loved and became rebellious at an early age. Lack of parental love. This could have led Karen to study more about the theory of personality, this paper, therefore, looks at Horney s theory of personality and how one s life at a younger age affect their personality and relation with others. This paper looks at Karen s take on other people s work about neurosis and his contribution too in neurosis Keywords: neurosis Horney s Theory of Personality Horney Karen was born on September ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horney Karen (1942) said the take of men on women being pregnant, motherhood, breastfeeding, and breasts lead to men devaluing women. She stated that the self is what determined one s being. That is, if a person had an accurate revelation of themselves, they had a chance to realize and live to their potential. As a psychiatrist, Horney Karen developed a pattern of needs that were derived from neurosis. The needs were based on the things Karen thought people required to be what they required in life. According to Karen, people should have to have two views of themselves, one the real self and the ideal self, whereby the real self is who one is and what they are. Whereby the real self has one s potential for growth, the potential for happiness and power. The ideal self is, on the other hand, is used to help the real self to develop one s potential and achievement of self. Horney came up with an illustration explaining between the real self, despised and the ideal selves, Self realization vacillation Real self ideal self Despised self Healthy person Neurotic person She modified the needs to correspond to individual neuroses as follows and categorized them according to what she called coping strategies, (Ewen, R. 2014, pg.76) as follows; ... • 4. Disadvantages Of Membrane Distillation As time goes by, the fresh water supplement for living on the earth planet will become a serious problem [1 3]. In addition, the Middle East is mentioned as one of the poorest regions in all over the world in terms of water resources with less than 1% of the total available global freshwater per capita [4, 5]. Therefore, one of the strategic options to satisfy the current and future request for fresh water in countries established around Gulf is to build up desalination units. So, immediate need has arisen to construct economic units for water desalination. Nowadays, it has been proved that membrane separation processes have several advantages for desalination and water reuse of contaminated resources in comparison to the conventional separation methods [1, 6 8]. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MD is a thermally driven separation process that utilizes a hydrophobic, membrane as a contactor media between two fluids kept at different temperatures where the separation is obtained by the mass transfer of the vapor phase. The driving force of the process is given by a partial vapor pressure difference that caused from the temperature difference [13 17]. Two advantages of MD are, the process performance is not highly affected by high feed salinity as see water, and has the theoretical ability to reach 100% salt rejection [13, 18, 19]. There are commonly four types of membranes arrangements for MD process: Direct Contact Membrane Distillation (DCMD), Vacuum Membrane Distillation (VMD), Air Gap Membrane Distillation (AGMD), and the Sweeping Gas Membrane Distillation (SGMD) [18, 20 22]. AGMD configuration is appropriated for water desalination [23, 24], on the other hand water gap showed higher thermal efficiency and less internal heat loss in comparison to AGMD [18, 25]. Therefore, these two arrangements are commonly used for the see water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Michael Grandillo in an Encyclopedia article, there are more than 5,500 chapters on 800 campuses throughout the United States and Canada. Although Greek Life is so common, participation in such organizations can be a controversial topic, particularly when critics suggest that hazing can be detrimental to students health and college careers. For those who do not know much about Greek Life, or the process that one goes through to become affiliated with this system, there is first a week called rush week, where fraternities and sororities host parties in attempt to cajole students into joining their organizations. Korry reports that similar hazing related deaths have occurred at least once a year for over three decades. Evidently, not all Greek organizations have upheld a safe, educational, and life changing pledge process that they often promise. In addition, many students fear that pledging a fraternity or sorority will cause their grades to suffer tremendously for a semester. In reality, this is a matter of ignorance, for most Greek organizations designate certain hours where their pledges must be in the library to do their work or study. If pledges decide not to capitalize on these library hours, then it would be their own fault, rather than the fault of the organization, for their poor performance. Despite these potential risks, students can benefit greatly from participating in Greek Life. Although some students are aware of the benefits that Greek life has to offer, others join Greek organizations merely for the social status that comes along with wearing letters, or to add a line to their resumes. In my opinion, those who pledge a Greek organization learn many life skills that will prove to be advantageous for the rest of their lives. Students that are timid often become more outgoing after pledging, because certain pledging tasks involve talking to and meeting new people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have to say that every single one of the Alex Rider books give me a mind blowing snensation. I then go on to idolize Alex Rider because he everything a teenage boy would want to have acheived. Since Alex is fourteen years of age, the most youthful spy agent to have served Britain, the United States and Australia, the book lands into the teenage genre which is why many young adult boys will love to read about a 14 year old boy conquering bad guys and therefore benefiting the world. Which is a boyhood dream. So far Snakehead has exceded my excpectations, as well as underachieved in some areas, so i still have mixed emotions about the book. Which will probably change as i eventually read on. The Alex Rider book has been an underachiever because it has been unrealistic. Even though its a 14 year old boy as a spy, there should be some mild form of reality which will balance the book in between the real and fantasy world. The over achieveing part was how he has managed to connect the previous book to the current one im reading now, checking every box and explaining it wih beautiful and precise writing, the prologue had no flaws and it was just like watching another episode of a seires. All of the Alex Rider books have not been relatable to my personal life because i have not experienced any losses or any form of experience with action packed dramas. Positive Impact Of Christopher Columbus Discoveries Positive Impact of Christopher Columbus Discoveries The world is a better place because of Christopher Columbus important discoveries in the New World. His explorations resulted in the vast expansion of property for Europe, the exchange of goods and cultures between countries and a change in the worldview of geography. Columbus s explorations were the catalyst for unprecedented trade known as the Columbian Exchange, which started the exchange of goods and ideas that would last for centuries and change the world forever. His discoveries unearthed new perspectives and created a mix of diverse biology between Europe and the New World. These exchanges changed the world we live in today and will continue to fuel centuries of exploration and discoveries. The Columbian Exchange was the beginning of the expansion of trade between the New World and Europe. The Columbian Exchange started the flow of goods between continents that had not shared the same borders since Pangaea. McNeill stated Columbus voyage, along with the many voyages that followed, disrupted much of the biological segregation brought about by continental drift. (McNeil, 1). Journalist Charles Mann states in his research for his book, 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created, on the Columbian Exchange that No other person, changed the face of the Earth as radically as Columbus did. Year 10 Geography Research Report YEAR 10 GEOGRAPHY RESEARCH REPORT: Introduction: Cronulla is a beachside suburb in southern Sydney, it is located 34.0574° S, 151.1522° E which is 26 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD (see figure 2). It is governed by the Sutherland Shire Council. Cronulla s coastal environment is on the Kurnell Peninsula, which is made up of a tombolo. A tombolo is a sand spit connecting a rocky outcrop or island to the mainland. So this forms a barrier between Botany Bay and Bate Bay. The two areas of study visited were Wanda Beach and the Greenhills Beach development. A healthy dune system contains a primary and secondary dune defined by the start of vegetation as you progress from the swash and berm. The vegetation helps stabilise the landform helping to protect it from erosion, it also helps the soil in the secondary dune to become more stable and erosion resistant. The decaying plant material creates humus which makes the soil more nutrient allowing greater plant diversity. At Wanda Beach, the tall trees and scrubs act as a windbreaker which further protects the sand formation. According to the field work results collected using the anemometer (see figure 3), the Aeolian processes at the front and the top of the primary dune is where the wind speed is highest. So it is important to plant plants such as the hairy spinifex to stabilise the sand due to its expansive root system and its ability to survive low water conditions. Introduction In Being Mortal, Atul Gawande uses his experiences as a surgeon, professor and public health professional to discuss many facets of Western end of life care and the process of growing old in a modern age. Overall, I have found that three overpowering themes in this novel are security versus autonomy, a need for pragmatism surrounding the concept of death, and our medicalized society s devaluation of hospice and palliative care. Regarding these themes, I have chosen to reflect on my grandparents, death in the West and social role valorization, respectively. 2. Personally, the importance of one s freedom in life is drawn upon by the lives of my grandparents. Although my maternal grandmother and grandfather are 75 and 77 years of age, respectively, they continue to live fulfilling and productive lives. It is not to be said that they have not suffered from problems related to aging, such as my grandfather suffering from severe arthritis, but they value their freedom to continue living their own lives more than anything. The true worth of their ability to write their own stories is most evident in the fact that they are motivated to continue to write them throughout old age. 3. A Need for Pragmatism in the Face of Death As mentioned in a Frontline interview with Gawande about Being Mortal, life s two unfixables are aging ang dying ( Dr. Atul Gawande On Aging, Dying And Being Mortal ). Despite this well known fact, most physicians and patients alike are overwhelmed by the concept of death. Moreover, in times of medical crisis, terminally ill patients allow themselves to be given the medical equivalent of lottery tickets in the hopes of making a miraculous recovery (Gawande 171). The allowance of end of life decisions to be controlled by the concepts of medicine or technology is a dangerous path which shows a lack in pragmatism regarding death (Sinclair). Explain the process of ecological succession, including the role of plants in maintaining biodiversity and the survival of organisms after a disturbance to an ecosystem. Ecological succession allows a biological community to evolve over time (2). This succession is divided into two distinct sections: primary and secondary succession. Primary succession allows life to form in regions with soil incapable of sustaining larger plants and by extension, larger animals (2). Secondary succession occurs in areas where a community used to exist, but was removed; leaving behind soil capable of sustaining life (2). Argumentative Essay On Co-Rumination Co rumination is a moderately new development, alluding to widely examining and returning to issues, guessing about issues, and concentrating on negative emotions with associates. Despite the fact that it is like self exposure in that it includes uncovering and examining an issue, it is more centered on the issues themselves and in this manner can be maladaptive. While self exposure is seen as a positive angle found in close kinships, a few sorts of self revelation can likewise be maladaptive. Co rumination is a sort of conduct that is emphatically associated with both rumination and self exposure and has been connected to a background marked by uneasiness in light of the fact that co ruminating may compound stresses over whether issues will be determined, about negative results of issues, and depressive findings because of the steady negative spotlight on upsetting themes, rather than critical thinking. Western imperialism in Burma was more costly than beneficial; even though the British improved and modernized education, transportation, and daily life, they also destroyed the economy, culture, and religion, ultimately causing more harm than good by dividing the country, killing many natives, and scarring the country forever. The British greatly weakened politics in Burma. When the British invaded Burma, troops burned down villages and suppressed dissent with mass executions. British colonial rule used the principle of divide and rule. Divide and rule divided the country into separate areas based on nationality. What the system has become is a monumental failure that our states and nation can no longer afford. Because of the lower status shield, female workers have a tendency to be more abused than male workers. Another aspect of the call center that is gendered is on the emphasis of competition. At the call center, competition is also a factor. Rewards such as commission is offered once an employee reaches a target for the amount of sales. This can be seen as a performance contingent reward. The exception to this statement occurs in the global urban areas with high population densities. In these areas, the substitutes available (e.g., walking, mass transit, bicycles, etc.) can be less costly than automobiles and thus alternative modes of transportation are often preferred. Also, there are inherent underlying social and cultural attitudes that keep people from owning automobiles in some parts of the world. If you re just hoping to keep the sun from beating up your car s paint job all day, a covered carport is probably all you need. What is a carport? A carport is a small structure usually used to protect cars from the outside elements. The structure can be attached to a wall or free standing. Carports more often than not are open to both sides. However, one can also find those that are partially or completely closed. Carports usually come in three types: single, double and triple carports. The type of design will depend on the number of vehicles one wants to store. If a person has two or three vehicles, he or she can go for triple or double structures. The structure can be installed on a paved surface, level ground, stem wall or even concrete slab. Sigmund Freud s Psychodynamic Approach The Psychodynamic Model, developed by Sigmund Freud, views the cause of mental disorders as the result of childhood trauma, anxieties, and unconscious conflicts. According to Freud, human behavior tends to express instinctual drives that function at the unconscious level. These instinctual drives can be afflicted with sexual or aggressive impulses and any threatening experiences that we block from our consciousness which results in emotional symptoms. The psychodynamic model consists of several different aspects to help explain human personality and why people engage with instinctual drives. One aspect of the model is the three personality components, the id, the ego and the superego, conveying that all behavior is a product of interaction. The id is found at the unconscious level and influenced by the pleasure principle while the ego is viewed as the realistic and rational part of the mind. The superego is part of the conscience, therefore, it discourages people from engaging in immoral and unethical behaviors. Fred also suggested that the development of human personality is drastically affected by early childhood experiences which can be found in five psychosexual stages: the oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital. The basic principles will be looked at in order to go into more depth to understand the biological importance of buffer solutions and how these solutions are produced as well as how the body is affected by this and the adjustments made. This extended research task is being conducted to fully understand the use and main reasons that buffers exist, not just for environmental reasons but also for biochemical reasons. The scenario that will be looked at is the buffering system inside the human body; the human body needs buffers in order to stabilize the pH levels to keep everything functioning properly. A buffer is an aqueous solution that has a generally stable pH level; this means that it can resist pH changes when small quantities of either an acid or a base are added to that specific buffer solution. However, each specific buffer has a buffer capacity; this is the amount of an acid or base that can be added to the buffer solution before the pH dramatically begins to change. However in some cases it can also be defined as the amount of a strong acid or base that must be added in order to change the pH levels of one litre of solution by one pH unit. The buffer solution is a result from a weak acid and conjugate base to form the salt of that acid/ionic compound and water. For a buffer to occur there needs to be equal numbers of moles for the acid with the hydrogen ions and the base ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nuclear and solar power share many differences and similarities. One main similarity is their purpose. Nuclear and solar power help to provide energy throughout the world. Without these forms of power generation, the power grid would mainly consist of coal and natural gas. These substances emit harmful greenhouse gases and pollution when they are burned to create energy. Nuclear and solar power helps to lessen the need for these more harmful alternatives. This main similarity is contrasted by the large amount of differences between the two. One clear difference is the way in which power is created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solar power is very safe, but nuclear power can be very dangerous if not used correctly. Nuclear fuel emits high levels of radiation that can be extremely harmful to individuals. Radiation can cause cancer and radiation sickness; both are potentially fatal. There have been many nuclear reactor accidents such the Chernobyl and Fukushima reactor meltdowns. However, if nuclear power is controlled, it is relatively safe. Solar power, also, does not produce waste, but nuclear reactors produce dangerous radioactive waste which must be buried in special mines to protect the surface from radiation. Renewability is another difference. Solar panels use the sun to produce power, so this source of energy is completely renewable. However, nuclear power use uranium that must be mined from the earth to make power; once this uranium is used, it will never grow back. The amount of land used also differs between the two. Solar power might not be the most environmentally friendly due to the vast amounts of land needed for solar farms. Nuclear power does not need as much land for nuclear reactors. In conclusion, both nuclear power and solar power have many similarities and differences. They are both have great potential for becoming major sources of power generation, and they both have large scientific backing. Without them, the world would be a very different ... The most precious human remains in a monastic church were the relics of saints preserved in shrines behind the high altar. The Church became a center for learning, with the monks becoming cultural carriers transmitting the written treasures of the past by preserving and copying ancient texts. An example of this would be Hrotsvit. Hrotsvit wrote books about Christian legends and wrote Roman dramas with an Christian spin to it. Often, the only literate members of society were the monks/priest. It was the monks who made and transmitted written copies of the Bible and other ancient works from generation to generation. They organized some of the first libraries. They conducted scientific and other research to benefit the surrounding communities. They were expert farmers who were able to pass on the benefits of their expertise to peasants on the large manors. • 38. The Long Term Effects Of Social Disadvantage Essay to help industry and commerce make the most of its human resources. However, psychological test data can also confront us with problems which are difficult to handle. Many of the controversies which surround test use reflect existing problems in society. For example, differences in test scores between blacks and whites in the United States are generally considered to be a reflection of the long term effects of social disadvantage. Research shows that these differences in test scores are not due to bias in the tests. They are real, and are predictive of real social outcomes, to differences in academic attainment, differences in job performance, and so on. Given the potential power of psychological tests as a tool, it is vital that they are used carefully and appropriately. Use of tests should always be under the supervision of a competent psychologist, or other suitably qualified, accredited person, and should always be carried out with due regard for local cultural factors and for professional and ethical codes of practice. In the United Kingdom, a national system of certification of test user competencies is now in place which is based on standards for test use. In most countries, the national psychological association can provide information and guidance covering the supply and use of tests, and standards for test construction. Across countries, the International Test Commission liaises between national psychological associations and provides guidance on technical issues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The And Of The Bible Living in a nation today where people of my own skin color are being discriminated against is a hard fact to grasp. Personally, by the grace of God, I have never encountered a situation where the color of my skin has been a problem. This does not deny the fact there is this problem out in the world. Discrimination can be in many forms race, gender, national origin, religion, disability, and even age. These many forms of discrimination would cause a division in our nation. Now the church has tried to find ways to mend this division that is created between people. In Paul s letters to the Ephesians he addresses this issue. With Peter s letter to the Ephesians he takes a look at the division between the Jews and then the Gentiles. In the biblical commentaries of the book of Ephesians done by Harold Hoehner and James Boice, they discus two ways that these verses are talked about. Hoehner and Bocie talk about how Paul is speaking in the past present and future tense of how the division in the church came to be, was destroyed and should never happen again. With Paul identifying the Jews as the circumcised and the Gentiles uncircumcised. This clarification according to Hoehner shows how the gentiles have no favor or privileges with God like the Jews. Since the Jews had been given Israel and privileges it is thought that they are better off than the Gentiles (Hoehner 2002). The Jews therefore have been giving an advantage over the Gentiles (Boice 1988), Now since they are both in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
